- 0:01SPEAKER_01: What's going on?
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Where are you?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm driving, driving back from the dump, the city dump.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Hey, look, look, I gotta apologize.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I was not ready today.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I was not ready.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And I forgot to tell you that I wasn't ready.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm a bad I'm a bad person.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I'm a bad friend.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I'm a bad podcaster.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm rolling my windows.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I'm glad.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm glad we could clear that up.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I just want you to know that I'm gonna do better from now on.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Starting now.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Sounds like you have to plan.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Sounds like you need to, you know, plan.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Remember?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: We talked about this.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Listen, I think part of me thinks just real quick about the name.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: The SS8 has a ring.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: S and S S and S88 doesn't quite have the same asymmetry.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, we never even say our names most of the time.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: So people don't even know that what the S and F stands for, which is Steven Satchel, but people don't necessarily know that.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And then the 8 a.m.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: thing, it's it they've changed the time.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: The time changes all around the world.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So part of me thinks it should just be called eight minutes.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: But just think about it.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I'm not asking for any kind of I'm just I'm just we're just still trying to plan this podcast, and that the title might need to change to eight minutes.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: It's just something to think about, but we can but but anyway, I want to find out about um why you're not scared of AI.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: That's what I want to do today.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Well, okay because you have a list, and we're and I think the first thing on I think the first thing on your list was I'm not scared of AI.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So I would like to you to expound on that, and I'll give you about seven minutes.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Um, well, it sounds to me like you're you're trying to avoid your inability to plan.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Responsibility.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Your inability to plan.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing I set up a reminder.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: The reminder is supposed to go off to say, hey, in 20 minutes, be ready.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And today I had so much going on in different parts of the world, the country, or those the city that I live in.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I'm here, I'm there.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I'm I drew I leave my phone in the car, I run inside this place, and then I'm in there for a lot longer than I thought, and then I come out, and then it keeps and then and then I just and I should plan better, but it's really about a lot of the times my days are more regular than they are right now.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: My days are not regular, I'm not a regular routine like I'll be getting into probably in the fall, is when I'll get into a regular routine.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: But right now, things are a little bit topsy turvy, helter skelter.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: And because of that, I'm not playing.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I don't have the I don't, it's it's yeah, I'm sorry, but I I really want to talk about AI if I can.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Are you afraid of AI?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I'm not afraid of AI, but I want to know why that's on the top of your list.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, because it's a good topic.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a hot topic, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: It's like a hot take.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: It's a thing to talk about, I guess.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: It's a hot take.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: It's a hot take.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Is that what they call it?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: They call it a hot take, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: That you're not as scared of AI, because a lot of people people who know about AI are scared of AI, and you're not.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure that people who know about it are I mean, I'm not sure all people who know about it are scared about it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Well, not all people, of course, but many people.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Many people are worried, but that that that what what do you what's your take on it?
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: What's your hot take on AI?
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Give me a give me an overview.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Well, m my my hot take on on AI is that um it's only the first shoe to fall.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: That we don't we don't know anything about uh the impact of AI until the next shoe falls.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: And so now What's the next shoe?
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: There's so the next shoe is E.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: No.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Is well some people would say A G I, but um which is artificial general intelligence, which is what you're following it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: There, yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Um but to me, the next shoe and the more scary shoe to drop is quantum computing.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, so the quantum and the AI are kind of wrapped up with each other, both of those.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, the way I still don't know about it.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: The way I think about it is my dog's falling down, is that AI is that dog's still alive?
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: AI is software, AI is software, and quantum computing is hardware.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: That's kind of my lame way of thinking about it.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, quantum is computing is um basically instead of binary computing, which is our chips now are binary, they're ones and zeros on and off, right?
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Um well, quantum computing um blows that out of the water.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: We're we're no longer binary.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So the chips are just gonna get so damn good.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Um that you know, one of the first tests they they did to test theoretically test these chips is they gave it a math problem that it solved in, I don't know, five minutes or something.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Well, it would take the strongest computer known right now, like a hundred and sixty-seven quadrillion years or something to solve.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: So theoretically, of course, these chips are just ridiculously stronger.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Now, so when when the AI software gets connected to chips that are that strong, some some people said that theoretically these chips have actually can open a new dimension.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: So now I don't know when this is.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: This could be 10 years away, but probably in our lifetime.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: And um, so that's to me when the real shit hits the fan, as they say.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna say that, but I I I you know you didn't want to curse because your your child is listening and you don't want to encourage bad words.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Keep it clean.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: So anyway, so that's that's that's the the overview.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's my kind of take on it all, which is there's a lot left in this conversation, um, which is quantum computing.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: And that's really I think you know, people who like to look into things, our buddy Jess, we can talk to him about it, um, should be looking into following that.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's down the road.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: It need, you know, they can't run these chips because they need to be super cold, but um yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: That's kind of my brief uh description of the AI, what'd you call it?
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Hot topic.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: That's your hot take on AI.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Well, I follow AI uh, you know, development um as closely as uh, you know, not super closely, but clo like I listen to podcasts and stuff about it and I try to keep up with what's going on.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Um I've I've used it a few times in in ways that have been pretty, pretty amazing.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: But I don't know anything about quantum.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: I don't even know I don't really even know what that is.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: So I mean, uh I know now that it's not binary.
