Speaker 2: a drive in this morning for a lot of folks,
• 1:31
Speaker 2: especially those of us who live in Putnam County. A
• 1:34
Speaker 2: hurricane got about three and a half inches of snow,
• 1:36
Speaker 2: not so much here in downtown Charles, maybe more or
• 1:39
Speaker 2: less where you live. I don't know. I am over it,

Speaker 2: You may have heard the story, and it is a
• 2:01
Speaker 2: terrible one. Indeed, a dog was brought into the kanal
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Charleston Humaine Association on Sunday. I think it was shot
• 2:10
Speaker 2: perhaps twice, thrown from a car, and there are some
• 2:14
Speaker 2: reports that someone tried to run over the dog with
• 2:17
Speaker 2: a car. That dog's name was Stubbs and he has passed.
• 2:21
Speaker 2: He actually had to be put down due to complications
• 2:24
Speaker 2: from his various medical procedures. A lot of people glued
• 2:28
Speaker 2: to myself wants some answers, pretty upset about that. We're
• 2:31
Speaker 2: gonna bring an Angie Gilldenwater who's normally with us on
• 2:33
Speaker 2: Friday with our Adopt Me Please pet of the Week.
• 2:35
Speaker 2: Talk to Angie about it last night, so she's gonna
• 2:37
Speaker 2: come on the show in the second segment to give
• 2:38
Speaker 2: us an update on the investigation into this. Plus we'll

• 3:01
Speaker 2: who serves in Ward twenty. Good morning, sir, welcome to
• 3:03
  Speaker 2: the show.
• 3:04
Speaker 4: Good morning Dave, thanks for having me again.
• 3:06
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. Before we get to why
• 3:09
Speaker 2: you're here, explain Ward twenty to.
• 3:10
Speaker 4: Us or twenty Kanas City lowrd Onnilly to South Ruffner
• 3:16
Speaker 4: across McCorkle takes in the hospital towards you see, I
• 3:21
Speaker 4: stay on the hillside of the real railroad tracks basically
• 3:24
Speaker 4: is the entire of my ward.
• 3:26
Speaker 2: Okay, and you are up for reelection. I presume you
• 3:29
Speaker 2: are running for real acts. Okay, all right, why I'll
• 3:32
Speaker 2: give you give you this and then we'll move on.
• 3:35
Speaker 2: I don't know whether you have opposition or not, but
• 3:37
Speaker 2: why should someone vote for you for real life?
• 3:39
Speaker 4: Hey, you know what I'm in, Charlestonian. I've lived in
• 3:41
Speaker 4: Kanos City for over forty years. I'm there just to help.
• 3:46
Speaker 4: I'm not there for the next step up. I want
• 3:48
Speaker 4: to make sure that Kanas City is better for before
• 3:52
Speaker 4: I started and when I finished. So you know, I've
• 3:55
Speaker 4: been in all the youth leagues basketball Kannosity Basketball youth
• 3:58
Speaker 4: League to littlely baseball and softball. Just want to make
• 4:02
Speaker 4: sure you know, we have things for our kids to
• 4:04
Speaker 4: do and create businesses and places to live in Kanas
• 4:08
  Speaker 4: City and Charleston.
• 4:09
Speaker 2: All right, let's get to Kanas City specifically, because you've
• 4:12
Speaker 2: been on the show several times over the last couple
• 4:15
Speaker 2: years talking about the ongoing construction in Kanas City. When
• 4:18
Speaker 2: that when that was causing a lot of problems with businesses,
• 4:21
Speaker 2: that seems to you know, have Well, what is the
• 4:25
Speaker 2: status now. I mean things have kind of wrapped up
• 4:27
  Speaker 2: over there. I think we're there's a relative thing. Well,
• 4:30
Speaker 2: I think we're at the end.
• 4:31
Speaker 4: You know, the storms have caused some problems with the
• 4:33
Speaker 4: water lines and some of the brand new sidewalks have
• 4:36
Speaker 4: been torn up in the last few days because of
• 4:39
Speaker 4: water water main leaks and things like that. But yeah,
• 4:42
Speaker 4: I think we're at the end of the construction project.
• 4:44
Speaker 4: It looks like they're cleaning things up with the construction areas. Uh.
• 4:48
Speaker 4: But you know, during all that those it felt like
• 4:51
Speaker 4: twenty years that mccorkli Avenue was being worked on. Our
• 4:56
Speaker 4: business has suffered and some of them actually went away,
• 5:00
Speaker 4: lost several we have we still have a lot of
• 5:03
  Speaker 4: empty storefronts.
• 5:04
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 5:05
Speaker 4: But you know, we we we got through it. And
• 5:08
Speaker 4: now we have to help get new businesses, but more
• 5:11
Speaker 4: importantly protect the locally owned businesses we have and recruit
• 5:15
Speaker 4: new ones Kano City. What's a recruitment process like for
• 5:19
Speaker 4: you or developers or anybody else? So why should people
• 5:22
Speaker 4: consider doing having having a business in Canons Well, so
• 5:26
Speaker 4: about two years ago, I was at the end of
• 5:29
Speaker 4: the construction as we talked about I was with Mayor
• 5:32
Speaker 4: Goodwin and Uh I told her we're struggling. I mean,
• 5:36
Speaker 4: our business is struggling, so we need to do something
• 5:39
Speaker 4: to help them. So I asked for for Charleston Overworks
• 5:44
Speaker 4: to come in and take Kanall City as one of
• 5:46
Speaker 4: their areas in Charleston. And I was fortunate enough to
• 5:50
Speaker 4: get money in the budget to to bring trust and
• 5:55
Speaker 4: over Works to Kanas City. And that just kicked off
• 5:58
Speaker 4: last year with the city and Rick Cavender and his group.
• 6:03
  Speaker 4: We've we've started a new working group, We've got a
• 6:07
Speaker 4: logo now. We just had our first open house at
• 6:11
Speaker 4: Tim Hogan's last in January. We had a great turnout
• 6:16
Speaker 4: we had. We've already had one ribbon cutting for Jersey Mics.
• 6:19
Speaker 4: We're getting ready to have another one for a bridal
• 6:22
Speaker 4: store that it's getting ready to open up. Uh, and
• 6:24
Speaker 4: there's a lot of talk about what else is coming
• 6:26
Speaker 4: to Kanas City. You know, we're getting Chipotle now the
• 6:30
Speaker 4: wing stops coming and got in trouble during our open
• 6:35
Speaker 4: house for mentioning another business that's coming. So I probably
• 6:38
Speaker 4: won't mention that one, but but stay tuned.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: Actually I heard that story, Chad, So what some one
• 6:44
Speaker 2: told me about that?
• 6:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, there's another business coming in between Applebee's and Chipotle,
• 6:48
Speaker 4: but I won't mention that on air.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: Okay, can you give us a hint. It's like, what
• 6:51
Speaker 2: kind of business took?
• 6:52
Speaker 4: Maybe a breakfast or all all twenty four hour breakfast?
• 6:56
Speaker 2: Okay, all right? Maybe maybe maybe possibly or maybe a
• 6:59
Speaker 2: heart store. We'll just flow throw that out there, or
• 7:01
Speaker 2: maybe or maybe attractor supply. I'm just thawing it out
• 7:04
Speaker 2: there now. We'll find out what it is when we
• 7:06
Speaker 2: get closer. We're talking to Chad Robinson City Council in
• 7:09
Speaker 2: Ward twenty, which covers primarily Kanos City. What about the
• 7:12
Speaker 2: residential parts of Kanas City? I mean, what's appealing if
• 7:15
Speaker 2: you got Because we know that there is a housing
• 7:17
Speaker 2: shortage everywhere in the Kanaw Valley. We talked to teroll
• 7:20
Speaker 2: ellis a lot from Advantage Valley about that sort of thing.
• 7:23
Speaker 2: There's a housing shortage everywhere else. But if we have
• 7:25
Speaker 2: enough housing or I know, we probably need more. What
• 7:28
Speaker 2: is appealing about Kanas City for families to come to, Well,
• 7:31
Speaker 2: first and foremost, it's convenient.
• 7:34
Speaker 4: You know, we're minutes from downtown Charleston. The majority of
• 7:38
Speaker 4: Kanos City is flat, flat roads, private single resident family
• 7:44
Speaker 4: home homes. We do have him out like my ward
• 7:48
Speaker 4: is on the hillside, but a lot of the in
• 7:50
Speaker 4: the up in the hollers, as you say, But we
• 7:54
Speaker 4: have a lot of homes that are that are nice
• 7:56
Speaker 4: single family. I've lived in Kanas City for forty years.
• 8:00
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 8:00
  Speaker 4: I won't leave Kanas City.
• 8:02
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 8:03
Speaker 4: And and you know what, it's nice, it's convenient. We
• 8:05
Speaker 4: have our stores, we bring back some some other grocery stores,
• 8:08
Speaker 4: things like that, and it's it's it's for everyone.
• 8:11
Speaker 2: That was gonna be my next thing. What's on your
• 8:13
Speaker 2: wish list for Kanas City? Champ Well Uh, Drugging Porium.
• 8:17
  Speaker 2: I think it's recently been purchased. I think it's going
• 8:19
Speaker 2: to be renovated. The Kmart property has been purchased. Looks
• 8:24
  Speaker 2: like We're gonna get a a uh interstate, not a
• 8:30
Speaker 2: gas station, not a truck stop, but a uh a
• 8:32
Speaker 2: place where we in individuals traveling can jump off the interstate,
• 8:36
Speaker 2: buy the gas, food, jump back on. Let me just
• 8:39
Speaker 2: stop you right there. It's not BUCkies. Before everybody starts
• 8:43
Speaker 2: losing their mind over BUCkies, BUCkies is not coming to
• 8:45
Speaker 2: this area. Don't get that even in your head. Okay,
• 8:48
Speaker 2: go ahead, it's not a it's we already have our sheets.
• 8:51
  Speaker 2: It's not a it's not a larger sheets, but things
• 8:54
Speaker 2: like that. We just have to continue to do things
• 8:56
Speaker 2: for Kanas City. And you know what, I always focus
• 8:59
Speaker 2: on Kanos City, but it's about Charleston. Anything we do
• 9:02
Speaker 2: in Kanas City for businesses, it benefits Charleston. It all
• 9:05
Speaker 2: trickles down. So what we can do for our businesses
• 9:09
Speaker 2: now and continue to recruit business with the city and
• 9:11
Speaker 2: Audrey and Urban Works, that's what we're here to do.
• 9:15
Speaker 2: And I have Rick Caveta from Urban Works is going
• 9:17
Speaker 2: to be on the show on Friday. I think he'll
• 9:19
Speaker 2: be here joining us on Friday. We're talking to Chad Robinson,
• 9:22
Speaker 2: City Councilman. In Ward twenty year in Charleston, a Dave
• 9:24
Speaker 2: Island Show on five any line broad to you, imparted
• 9:26
Speaker 2: by Pinnacle Consultants. They're hiring. They have two positions available
• 9:29
Speaker 2: for field technicians. Experience not required but would be helpful.
• 9:32
Speaker 2: Check out Pinnacle Corp dot net for more information or
• 9:34
Speaker 2: call them three zero four seven five seven five two
• 9:38
Speaker 2: zero four three zero four seven five seven five two
• 9:40
Speaker 2: zero four Pinnacle Consultants. What you don't know can hurt you.
• 9:44
Speaker 2: Had a text here It says Dave, I haven't been
• 9:45
Speaker 2: in Canas City in forever due to the never ending
• 9:47
Speaker 2: construction mass. I just go around using the interstate. Is
• 9:50
  Speaker 2: it finally done?
• 9:51
Speaker 4: Come back to want you back? Come eat lunch, get
• 9:55
Speaker 4: your gas groceries, Come on back to can I'll see
• 9:59
Speaker 4: the macrocil open, ready to go talk.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: You and I were talking off the air about the
• 10:04
Speaker 2: about how harsh this winter has been. Overall, It's really
• 10:07
Speaker 2: not been that bad. It just seems like it because
• 10:10
Speaker 2: the snow and ice from that will last storm last
• 10:12
Speaker 2: weekend is stall hanging on. How is that area or
• 10:17
Speaker 2: how is the city? Because you you serve all of
• 10:18
Speaker 2: Charleston being the city council, we even though that's your ward,
• 10:20
Speaker 2: how's the city doing when it comes to keeping things going.
• 10:25
Speaker 2: We had another little snowfall last night, you know, and
• 10:28
Speaker 2: there's always questions about salt and things that nature. I know,
• 10:30
Speaker 2: Charleton City Council, I think addressed Monday night and you're
• 10:32
Speaker 2: in their meeting. How's the city been doing in off.
• 10:34
Speaker 4: First or foremost? You have to thank the guys out
• 10:36
Speaker 4: there all all day, all night. I mean they're they're
• 10:38
Speaker 4: everywhere the ice, Brent Webster's crew and not you not
• 10:43
Speaker 4: to mess just as salt trucks, the refuse getting out
• 10:46
Speaker 4: there in the middle of the storms. But overall Charleston
• 10:49
Speaker 4: is clear. Uh after a storm last night. I mean
• 10:53
Speaker 4: I live on off A fiftieth Street in Kansas City
• 10:56
Speaker 4: and mccorkloy Avenue. The state does a good job with
• 10:59
Speaker 4: cleaning it. Uh. We still have some back roads that
• 11:02
Speaker 4: have ice. But you know, with the limited availability of salt,
• 11:08
Speaker 4: which we just as you said, we we did purchase
• 11:11
Speaker 4: more salt uh at Monday nights council meeting, but.
• 11:15
Speaker 2: Which is not an easy task in and of itself.
• 11:17
Speaker 2: Right now, try for sure to get it.
• 11:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, the barges were stuck locked out, so we couldn't
• 11:23
Speaker 4: get the salt in. We we've brought some ton of
• 11:26
Speaker 4: gin on on railroad, but hopefully more to come. But uh,
• 11:30
Speaker 4: you know it, it's a long process to storm. The
• 11:33
Speaker 4: ice is the worst part. And uh, I think we
• 11:36
Speaker 4: did a good job, but we have to everyone has
• 11:39
Speaker 4: to understand that with the low temperatures we have had.
• 11:43
Speaker 4: Hopefully we it's a past tense that the salt doesn't work,
• 11:47
Speaker 4: uh at those lows low of temperatures. So you know,
• 11:51
Speaker 4: putting it down is one thing, but going away as another.
• 11:54
Speaker 4: With the temperatures the way they were.
• 11:56
Speaker 2: Chad, it's always pleasure to have you on the show
• 11:58
Speaker 2: to give us some updates some things not only going
• 12:00
Speaker 2: on in the ward that you serve in the Kanas
• 12:01
Speaker 2: City and that vicinity, but also other things going on
• 12:04
Speaker 2: in Charleston. And Charleston is going to come alive again
• 12:07
Speaker 2: once we fall out, okay, because before you know it,
• 12:11
Speaker 2: the bicycle event will be in town in spring. I've
• 12:14
Speaker 2: spent a lot of time talking about Dirty Birds baseball.
• 12:17
Speaker 2: They're going to be coming back here. Before you know it,
• 12:19
Speaker 2: we'll have regatta and things will start to maybe slowly
• 12:22
Speaker 2: get back to normal here in Charleston.
• 12:23
Speaker 4: Says too. You know, Charleston is thriving right now under
• 12:26
Speaker 4: the Mayor Goodwin's administration and city council. We're lots of activities.
• 12:31
Speaker 4: Downtown's booming. You know, hopefully Kanas City we see one
• 12:34
Speaker 4: of those events here in twenty twenty six.
• 12:36
Speaker 2: Let me ask you this before I let you go.
• 12:38
Speaker 2: I don't want to blindside you this, but I do
• 12:40
Speaker 2: want to ask you because one of the things we've
• 12:41
Speaker 2: talked about on the show a lot over the last
• 12:43
Speaker 2: month or two. Actually, let me take that back to
• 12:46
Speaker 2: the last five six years that I've been doing the
• 12:48
Speaker 2: show is the Town Center. We know that the city
• 12:50
Speaker 2: has been talking with her about the Terendo negotiations take
• 12:53
Speaker 2: over the town Center. Do you have an opinion on you?
• 12:55
Speaker 4: You know what, something had to be done, and the
• 12:58
Speaker 4: Mayor Goodwin jumped off the cliff and we're gonna do
• 13:01
Speaker 4: that hopefully, hopefully it works out. It will never come
• 13:05
Speaker 4: back as the town Center with shopping. It's gonna be
• 13:08
Speaker 4: multi use. Uh, there'll be a lot of investors, hopefully.
• 13:11
  Speaker 3: Uh.
• 13:12
Speaker 4: We have to do something for that part of town.
• 13:14
Speaker 4: And you know people talk about, uh, it's not like Barbersville.
• 13:19
Speaker 4: Well we're not, Charles is not like Barbersville. And we
• 13:23
Speaker 4: have to look at different uses of the town Center,
• 13:25
Speaker 4: whether it's housing on one level, restaurants on another level.
• 13:29
Speaker 4: Uh in some some retail. But it's gonna be a
• 13:33
Speaker 4: long discussion, and I applaud the mayor for taking the leap,
• 13:37
Speaker 4: and let's let's get it done.
• 13:39
Speaker 2: All right, Chad. Because you're you know, you're a Charlestonian.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: You can remember the heyday of the town Center like
• 13:44
Speaker 2: a lot of us. Even though I'm not from Charleston,
• 13:46
Speaker 2: I could definitely remember.
• 13:48
Speaker 4: We hung out all the time at the Canal Mall
• 13:50
Speaker 4: and the Town Center. That's where we hung out. Yeah,
• 13:52
Speaker 4: all right, we did have one more tax i promise,
• 13:54
Speaker 4: I'll let you go. TEXTA wanted to know will the
• 13:55
Speaker 4: city have to repay the roads with the bike race
• 13:59
Speaker 4: coming in each year. There's a list of the twenty
• 14:02
Speaker 4: twenty six paving cycle. We should receive that soon and
• 14:06
Speaker 4: they do look at the areas of the bike race
• 14:08
Speaker 4: to make sure some of those areas are new paved
• 14:12
Speaker 4: or have issues from last year. So yeah, those routes
• 14:15
Speaker 4: will be looked at all right.
• 14:17
Speaker 2: John Robinson, Chauston City Councilman, in word twenty appreciate you
• 14:20
Speaker 2: being here as always my friend. Thanks thanks sir. Coming
• 14:22
Speaker 2: up a little bit later on Deligate, Andy Shamblin is
• 14:24

• 17:00
Speaker 2: would be huge regional destination. Think about that, well, it could.
• 17:04
Speaker 2: It could very well be Texas. I was in Annapolis,
• 17:07
Speaker 2: Maryland this weekend. They have a very large indoor mall
• 17:10
Speaker 2: with no vacancies and lots of shoppers right in town.
• 17:13
Speaker 2: Interesting that malls seem to operate very normally in places
• 17:15
Speaker 2: other than in Charlestown, Texter. I will say this if
• 17:21
Speaker 2: you don't care, if you could text back. I'm just
• 17:23
Speaker 2: kind of curious do they charge for parking there and
• 17:27
Speaker 2: does it? Does it adequately compare to the Town Center.
• 17:30
Speaker 2: Not taking an issue with you, I'm just asking a question.
• 17:33
Speaker 2: I'm just a lot of downtown malls have failed because
• 17:37
Speaker 2: that was a model that was very popular in the
• 17:38
Speaker 2: late seventies early eighties and it kind of went away.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: And I think the point the council when Robinson made
• 17:43
Speaker 2: you you can't compare the Huntington Mall or a Southridge
• 17:48
Speaker 2: with the model that is the Charlestontown Center. I mean,
• 17:51
Speaker 2: it's it's just an unfair comparison in my opinion. You know,
• 17:55
Speaker 2: I don't get serious about a whole lot. Now, sure
• 17:56
Speaker 2: they don't get upset a lot about much these days,
• 18:00
Speaker 2: but so that I do love and get upset about
• 18:02
Speaker 2: very easily as animals. And this is a very difficult
• 18:06
Speaker 2: story to talk about, but it's the story that needs
• 18:09
Speaker 2: to be told and quite frankly, justice needs to be done.
• 18:15
Speaker 2: You probably have heard the story by now let me
• 18:21
Speaker 2: let me stop. Let me bring an Ange Gillawatter from
• 18:23
Speaker 2: a Canalla Charlesty Main Association. Angie normally have you on Friday.
• 18:26
Speaker 2: I appreciate you coming in forty eight hours early for
• 18:28
Speaker 2: this segment. Thanks a lot for being here.
• 18:31
Speaker 9: It's no problem is anything to spread awareness about this story,
• 18:34
Speaker 9: I will certainly make happen, all.
• 18:36
Speaker 2: Right, So tell us the story. Take us from the
• 18:40
Speaker 2: very beginning of the story of this dog named Stubbs.
• 18:44
Speaker 9: So Sunday at the animal shelter, somebody had frantically came
• 18:47
Speaker 9: in and said that this dog that they had had
• 18:51
Speaker 9: been shot and tossed out of a vehicle. And you know,
• 18:55
Speaker 9: of course, our team jumped right into action. We didn't
• 18:57
Speaker 9: really know what to expect, but we get out to
• 19:01
Speaker 9: see the animal and immediately triage it to you know,
• 19:04
Speaker 9: our clinic where it can start receiving emergency medical action
• 19:08
Speaker 9: to stabilize it, assess how bad these injuries are. And
• 19:13
Speaker 9: so our team of one person that day, Rachel. Shout
• 19:17
Speaker 9: out to Rachel if you've seen this on the news.
• 19:19
Speaker 9: Rachel did a fabulous job stabilizing him by herself essentially
• 19:23
Speaker 9: that day, but got Stubbs stabilized and was able to
• 19:29
Speaker 9: assess injuries further, create a plan for what we're going
• 19:32
Speaker 9: to do. And in that time of you know, the
• 19:36
Speaker 9: chaos of getting him stabilized, the person that brought him
• 19:39
Speaker 9: in left. They left the building, did not fill out
• 19:42
Speaker 9: any paperwork. We didn't get a whole lot more info
• 19:44
Speaker 9: about what was going on with Stubbs, if he was
• 19:47
Speaker 9: their pet, anything like that. So that is that's caught
• 19:52
Speaker 9: us up to about.
• 19:53
Speaker 2: Monday, okay, and then take us through Monday.
• 19:57
Speaker 9: So Monday, when our veterinarian was back in, our entire
• 20:00
Speaker 9: medical staff was able to be there, Stubbs was going
• 20:05
Speaker 9: to go through a procedure to remove bullet fragments from
• 20:08
Speaker 9: his body, and when he went under anesthesia, his body
• 20:12
Speaker 9: just simply gave out on him. He was ready to
• 20:14
Speaker 9: let go. So despite our vets efforts and despite our
• 20:19
Speaker 9: entire medical team's efforts, he did pass away before we
• 20:23
Speaker 9: could even begin surgery on him to repair all the
• 20:28
Speaker 9: supervisial wins that he had.
• 20:30
Speaker 2: I first saw that story, I think it was Sunday
• 20:33
Speaker 2: night when you posted on social media and I spread
• 20:35
Speaker 2: and I shared it on my pages, and one of
• 20:37
Speaker 2: the other stations, The Mountain, put it on their page
• 20:39
Speaker 2: as well, And we were hoping for a good turnout,
• 20:46
Speaker 2: good outcome in this and it didn't happen. I thought
• 20:49
Speaker 2: it was interesting. I actually saw the piece that you
• 20:51
Speaker 2: referenced Rachel that she did with w SAC Television. Actually
• 20:55
Speaker 2: saw that on the news last night, and she said,
• 20:58
Speaker 2: and this is one of the things I guess that
• 20:59
Speaker 2: really up with me. And she she said that even
• 21:02
Speaker 2: with what that dog had gone through, he was still
• 21:06
Speaker 2: being very loving in her arms and wanted his belly rubbed. Now,
• 21:11
Speaker 2: this is a dog that's been shot twice, thrown out
• 21:15
Speaker 2: of a vehicle, would have every reason in the world,
• 21:19
Speaker 2: I mean, with all those health issues to hate every
• 21:21
Speaker 2: human being that ever came around him. And he he
• 21:24
Speaker 2: just wanted pett it just like just like a dog.
• 21:26
Speaker 2: It had nothing happened to him.
• 21:28
Speaker 9: Yeah, just wanted to comfort and love. And that is
• 21:32
Speaker 9: something about animals that, like I just I can never
• 21:35
Speaker 9: wrap my head around just how loyal they are despite
• 21:39
Speaker 9: anything bad that happens to them, because I'll tell you
• 21:41
Speaker 9: what I could never. I could never you know, share
• 21:44
Speaker 9: love like that, be as loyal as an animal.
• 21:46
Speaker 2: No, no, no, there's no way. We're talking to Angie
• 21:48
Speaker 2: gilden Water from the kennew Charlestony, Maine Association. The Dave

• 21:57
Speaker 2: Bridge Valley Community Technical College. Your career starts here. Okay,
• 22:00
Speaker 2: originally you focus on your social media whatnot. We're asking,
• 22:03
Speaker 2: you know, for it, for people to make donations. I'm
• 22:05
Speaker 2: sure people came, you know, for the medical bills and whatever.
• 22:08
Speaker 2: I even reached out to you and so my wife
• 22:09
Speaker 2: and I would gladly make a donation. And then the
• 22:12
Speaker 2: dogs succumbed to his injuries. So if people made those donations,
• 22:17
Speaker 2: what where does the what happens with the money now?
• 22:21
Speaker 9: So Stubbs was not the only critical patient that we
• 22:24
Speaker 9: have in our care. He's just one that happened to
• 22:26
Speaker 9: get a lot of attention, which is great. He can
• 22:29
Speaker 9: bring awareness to the other, you know, the other two
• 22:32
Speaker 9: hundred some animals that we are taking care of right now,
• 22:36
Speaker 9: and a lot of those guys are critical condition, are
• 22:38
Speaker 9: being monitored every day, also need of you know, life
• 22:42
Speaker 9: saving surgeries and you know medical care. So any money
• 22:47
Speaker 9: that was donated towards Stubbs again since he has, you know,
• 22:50
Speaker 9: since passed, money will be used to help other animals
• 22:54
Speaker 9: with their medical procedures or even if there's not anything critical,
• 23:00
Speaker 9: cool and life saving going on, that money is going
• 23:02
Speaker 9: to go towards animals that are healthy but you know
• 23:05
Speaker 9: need a vaccination or a fan hooter surgery. So it's
• 23:09
Speaker 9: going to be repurposed into helping the community and helping
• 23:12
Speaker 9: the animals still and you know, in the name of stubs.
• 23:16
Speaker 2: If you will, right, I love that part of it. Okay,
• 23:18
Speaker 2: So let's get to the And we don't want to
• 23:20
Speaker 2: do or say anything that's going to hamper an investigation,
• 23:23
Speaker 2: because there is an ongoing criminal investigation of what we understand.
• 23:26
Speaker 2: So what you're telling me is someone just showed up
• 23:29
Speaker 2: at the shelter on Sunday, Sunday, afternoon, Sunday evening. What
• 23:32
  Speaker 2: timeframe was it.
• 23:33
Speaker 9: Again, it was the afternoon hours, but before the PM hour. Okay,
• 23:39
Speaker 9: we're at at them rage. So I would say anywhere
• 23:41
Speaker 9: between one and three, okay, around that time, all right.
• 23:43
Speaker 2: So somebody just shows up and they have this dog
• 23:46
Speaker 2: and they come in and they say, look, this dog
• 23:48
Speaker 2: has been shot and thrown from a car. And while
• 23:55
Speaker 2: you were trying to get while Rachel and the folks
• 23:57
Speaker 2: were trying to get care for the dog, the person left.
• 24:00
Speaker 2: And again, I don't want to do anything that's going
• 24:02
Speaker 2: to implicate anyone if this person. You know, we're not
• 24:05
Speaker 2: saying that this person did anything wrong or not saying
• 24:07
Speaker 2: that they did that we we don't know at this point,
• 24:10
Speaker 2: but can can you review video footage of the I mean,
• 24:15
Speaker 2: at least I think this person needs to be questioned
• 24:17
Speaker 2: just to say, hey, how did you because we don't
• 24:19
Speaker 2: even know where this happened, right right?
• 24:22
Speaker 9: Correct? We did not get a location from that person,
• 24:26
Speaker 9: and it all could be very innecesient. Sure, you might
• 24:28
Speaker 9: not have known that they needed to stick around for
• 24:31
Speaker 9: us to talk to like it could have been something
• 24:32
Speaker 9: as simple as that. So if you did bring in
• 24:35
Speaker 9: some please come talk to us. We just have a
• 24:37
Speaker 9: couple of questions for you. However, there is video footage
• 24:41
Speaker 9: that we can review. One of our directors is the
• 24:44
Speaker 9: only person that has access to that, so we are,
• 24:46
Speaker 9: you know, talking with her about being able to pull
• 24:49
Speaker 9: the footage and narrowing down which person exactly entered the
• 24:52
  Speaker 9: building with them.
• 24:54
Speaker 2: Now, who is in who's conducting the investigation? I'm assuming
• 24:57
Speaker 2: Charleston Police Department, right, because the shelter is in is
• 25:01
Speaker 2: in the city of Charleston, right, is that who's in
• 25:03
  Speaker 2: conducting the investigation?
• 25:05
Speaker 9: So we are we do fall within the City of
• 25:07
Speaker 9: Charleston's jurisdiction. So City of Charleston as well as I
• 25:12
Speaker 9: do believe that our own humane officers are also getting
• 25:15
Speaker 9: involved just to get as many, you know, as much
• 25:17
Speaker 9: feet on the ground as we can in order to
• 25:20
Speaker 9: seek justice and find a resolution for stubs.
• 25:23
Speaker 2: And this is what this is all about. And again,
• 25:26
Speaker 2: if you're the person that turned in that dog, you're
• 25:28
Speaker 2: not being accused of anything. But I think they do
• 25:31
Speaker 2: have some questions they I mean, because the person said
• 25:34
Speaker 2: this dog was hit was shot and hit by car.
• 25:36
  Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know did did the Again, I
• 25:39
Speaker 2: don't want to sound like I'm being judged during an
• 25:41
Speaker 2: executioner here, but I mean, but there are questions like
• 25:43
Speaker 2: did you personally, sir madam? Did you personally witness this?
• 25:48
Speaker 2: Did someone tell you about it? How do you know?
• 25:50
Speaker 2: And there was one report that came out on the
• 25:51
Speaker 2: news that uh, and you can verify this or you
• 25:54
Speaker 2: can or you can deny it that that someone attempted
• 25:58
Speaker 2: to run over the dog. Wasn't that part of the
• 26:00
  Speaker 2: story as well?
• 26:02
Speaker 9: Yes, our medical exam I'm sorry, not medical examer are
• 26:05
Speaker 9: one of our chief veterinarians. She had taken a look
• 26:08
Speaker 9: at subs, you know, of course after he had passed,
• 26:11
Speaker 9: just to you know, if anything had been missed, and
• 26:13
Speaker 9: he had a lot of bruising on his stomach in
• 26:16
Speaker 9: which usually indicates, you know, being hit by a car.
• 26:19
Speaker 9: So it may be you know that he wasn't tossed
• 26:21
Speaker 9: out of a car, but rather that okay, you know
• 26:23
Speaker 9: he was struck by one. So yes, the person that
• 26:28
Speaker 9: gave us this information, we just want to know how
• 26:30
Speaker 9: you got that, and we want to, you know, take
• 26:34
Speaker 9: steps in order to prevent us from happening to another animal.
• 26:38
Speaker 2: And please, you know, as I said, Sir Amudam, please
• 26:40
Speaker 2: do the right thing. If you were the person that
• 26:43
Speaker 2: dropped this dog off up there and you had this information,
• 26:46
Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's great that you that you
• 26:48
Speaker 2: did that, but but we we we need they have questions,
• 26:51
Speaker 2: I mean, because we want to bring somebody to justice
• 26:55
Speaker 2: for this, because people have got to know they cannot
• 26:58
Speaker 2: just do this. They cannot just shoot a dog, throw
• 27:01
Speaker 2: it out a window, possibly run over it, uh and
• 27:05
Speaker 2: and think there's not going to be hell to pay
• 27:06
Speaker 2: for it because this I mean, I mean, I'm sorry,
• 27:09
Speaker 2: I get a little fired up about this sort of
• 27:11
Speaker 2: stuff because I'm an animal lover. You know, you're the lowes,
• 27:13
Speaker 2: the person who did this is the lowest piece of
• 27:15
Speaker 2: crap that ever lived, and you deserve to be brought
• 27:18
Speaker 2: to justice. And quite frankly, in Dave world, you'd have
• 27:21
Speaker 2: the same damn thing happened to you that happened to
• 27:23
  Speaker 2: that dog.
• 27:24
Speaker 9: Yeah. Absolutely, I could not agree more if you you know,
• 27:28
Speaker 9: cruelty to animals is something that is unforgivable and unexcusable
• 27:32
Speaker 9: to me. But yeah, there are laws currently that are
• 27:37
Speaker 9: going through that hopefully strengthens animal cruelty laws and you know,
• 27:43
Speaker 9: makes it much much easier to seek justice and stronger punishments.
• 27:48
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I mean absolutely, because here's the thing
• 27:51
Speaker 2: about it. If they did it to a dog, they'll
• 27:53
Speaker 2: do it to a human, you know. I mean that's
• 27:55
Speaker 2: the thing about it. And if you look at the
• 27:57
Speaker 2: profile of people that have that have that have armed historically,
• 28:01
Speaker 2: that had done horrible things to humans, they did it
• 28:03
Speaker 2: to animals too, you know. That's the thing.
• 28:07
Speaker 9: Yep. Animals is just the start usually for for people
• 28:11
Speaker 9: that you know, committ against other humans, animals is usually
• 28:14
  Speaker 9: where they start.
• 28:15
Speaker 2: So someone said here and I and I appreciate the
• 28:19
Speaker 2: chext says, is it possible someone hit the dog with
• 28:21
Speaker 2: a car and then shot it out of mercy.
• 28:25
Speaker 9: I suppose that that could be an explanation, which again
• 28:29
Speaker 9: is going back to that point like, hey, we just
• 28:32
Speaker 9: want information, uh you know, and we could This is
• 28:35
Speaker 9: why we don't make assumptions and we don't judge. We
• 28:39
Speaker 9: just we we have questions and we just want answer.
• 28:42
Speaker 9: So that I mean, I suppose that is possible. It's
• 28:44
Speaker 9: kind of hard to tell which injury had came first,
• 28:47
Speaker 9: whether it was the bruising on the stomach or the
• 28:50
Speaker 9: gunshot waves, so it's kind of kind of hard to
• 28:52
Speaker 9: make that call. But that could be a possibility.
• 28:55
Speaker 2: Well and if that, if that, and again we don't
• 28:57
Speaker 2: want to start jumping to conclusions here, but if that
• 28:59
Speaker 2: is the case, I mean, the person was a terrible shot.
• 29:03
Speaker 2: I mean, apparently they shot the dog twice. And I'm
• 29:05
Speaker 2: not trying to you know, I'm not trying to say
• 29:06
Speaker 2: that you go shooting animals. I'm just trying to say,
• 29:10
Speaker 2: we've all heard stories like that, you know that they
• 29:12
Speaker 2: would would would shoot a dog or any kind of
• 29:14
Speaker 2: animal to get it out of its misery. We don't
• 29:16
Speaker 2: recommend that, but but just saying that that, I appreciate
• 29:21
Speaker 2: the text, and I guess it's possible, like you said, Angie,
• 29:23
  Speaker 2: but I just don't. I don't see that as being
• 29:25
Speaker 2: very likely. That's that's just my opinion.
• 29:28
Speaker 9: Yeah, like if I could, if there was an easier
• 29:31
Speaker 9: way to tell which injury came first, that would be,
• 29:33
Speaker 9: you know, such an easy answer. But yeah, everything at
• 29:38
Speaker 9: this point is on the table for us to consider.
• 29:41
Speaker 9: So any information at all would be very helpful.
• 29:44
Speaker 2: So what do people need to do right now? If
• 29:46
Speaker 2: they say, hey, I got an idea of who did this,
• 29:50
Speaker 2: I got it, I saw this, when again, we have
• 29:52
Speaker 2: no idea where it even happened. Okay, this could not
• 29:54
Speaker 2: it could have possibly not even been in Kanon County.
• 29:56
Speaker 2: It could have been somewhere we don't know. But if
• 29:59
Speaker 2: people do have information, or going back to your original point,
• 30:02
Speaker 2: agy if they wanted to help in us, what do
• 30:03
Speaker 2: they need to do?
• 30:05
Speaker 9: So if you have any information, number one, please reach

Speaker 9: out to us at ksey h A our phone number

Speaker 9: You can remain anonymous. Any information that you have, any
• 30:17
Speaker 9: little breadcrumb that you can give us, that would be
• 30:20
Speaker 9: extremely helpful. So if you have information regarding Stubs where
• 30:24
Speaker 9: he came from, if you recognize him belonging to so
• 30:27
Speaker 9: and so. Anything like that would be helpful for us.
• 30:30
Speaker 9: And if you want to help in ways of you know,
• 30:34
Speaker 9: making sure this doesn't happen to other dogs, or help
• 30:37
Speaker 9: us just at the shelter in general, you know, talk
• 30:40
Speaker 9: to your lawmakers about animal animal care and animal welfare laws.

Speaker 9: And if you want to help us just directly at

  Speaker 4: All right.

Speaker 2: you and I have a fun little segment on Friday,

Speaker 2: and we'll do that this Friday. But this needed to
• 31:13
Speaker 2: be addressed, Angie. I appreciate it, and hopefully somebody will

Speaker 2: that's the one thing that struck me about this story, guys,
• 33:51
Speaker 2: is the one after this dog had gone through all this,

Speaker 2: and if you saw the story on WSAs last night,

Speaker 2: the dog just wanted petted and was loving after he

Speaker 2: unbelievable to me. Welcome into the show now, Republican Delegate

  Speaker 4: Good morning, Dave.
• 34:21
Speaker 10: Good to be on with you.
• 34:22
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. So you got something that
• 34:28
Speaker 2: you told me in a test called a blue envelope bill.
• 34:30
  Speaker 2: What's a blue envelope bill?
• 34:31
Speaker 10: The blue envelope bill is a attempt by my colleague,
• 34:35
Speaker 10: Delegate Walter Hall, who I'm co sponsoring the bill with.
• 34:40
Speaker 10: It basically is going to give an outlet to those
• 34:43
Speaker 10: who have any type of spectrum disorder to have the
• 34:47
Speaker 10: ability to put a blue dot on their windshield along
• 34:51
Speaker 10: with blue envelope basically for ensuring that they have a
• 34:55
Speaker 10: better interaction with any law enforcement that they might encounter.
• 35:00
Speaker 2: Okay, where did this uh? You said it was from
• 35:02
Speaker 2: Walter Hall. Where did this whole idea come from?
• 35:04
  Speaker 4: This?
• 35:05
Speaker 10: This is a concept that a few other states have
• 35:07
  Speaker 10: also recently adopted.
• 35:09
  Speaker 8: Uh.
• 35:09
Speaker 10: And it's it's a concept that those in the disability
• 35:13
Speaker 10: rights community are very much in fav.
• 35:15
Speaker 2: I mean, I could I could see where that would
• 35:17
Speaker 2: be problematic for somebody that gets pulled over by the
• 35:20
Speaker 2: police traffic violation I'm talking about and not being able
• 35:25
Speaker 2: to handle things, handling things differently, I'll put it that way.
• 35:28
Speaker 10: Right, I think I think it just gives And also
• 35:32
Speaker 10: to clarify that it's a totally voluntary program, so we're
• 35:35
Speaker 10: not mandating that participate in it. I know some people said, oh,
• 35:38
Speaker 10: you're you know, this.
• 35:39
Speaker 2: Is Scarlett letter type thing.
• 35:42
Speaker 1: It's not at all.
• 35:43
Speaker 10: And I think it goes back to the old saying
• 35:45
Speaker 10: information is power, and if we can inform law enforcement,
• 35:50
Speaker 10: if we can help educate the public more about how
• 35:54
Speaker 10: those with disabilities have some unique challenges and and and
• 35:58
Speaker 10: we want them to be fully adaptable and be able
• 36:01
Speaker 10: to function in society. And I think this is just
• 36:02
Speaker 10: another way. This is another tool in the tool box
• 36:06
  Speaker 10: towards that goal.
• 36:07
Speaker 2: Speaking to knowledge. And you've been on the show for
• 36:10
Speaker 2: you know, you're a teacher by trade. You and I
• 36:12
Speaker 2: met actually at Nitral High School when I used to
• 36:14
Speaker 2: come to your classes and do voter registration drive drives.
• 36:17
Speaker 2: There were a few years, uh, there was talk about
• 36:21
Speaker 2: making municipal elections in West Virginia partisan. Now some cities
• 36:26
Speaker 2: already do that, but not all cities do that every city.
• 36:29
Speaker 2: What I learned at my time in the Secretary of
• 36:31
Speaker 2: State's office is that every city does things differently according
• 36:35
Speaker 2: to their charters. Sometimes charters even trump state law. You know,
• 36:39
Speaker 2: on various things. Some cities are partisans, some are not.
• 36:43
Speaker 2: As a city councilman that you are in Nitro in
• 36:46
Speaker 2: addition to being a legislator, in addition to be when
• 36:48
Speaker 2: do you sleep by the way not enough? What are
• 36:52
Speaker 2: your thoughts on that municipal elections partisan?
• 36:57
Speaker 10: That's not a new debate in the legislature. That has
• 36:59
Speaker 10: been proposed every year that I've been there. And you know,
• 37:04
Speaker 10: the idea that some have is is we want to
• 37:06
Speaker 10: put labels on all local officials and as you point
• 37:10
Speaker 10: at political partisan labels. As you pointed out, some cities
• 37:13
Speaker 10: are partisan, many of the larger cities all are, Charles
• 37:17
Speaker 10: says Huntington is a few others are. But my thoughts
• 37:22
Speaker 10: on it are pretty simple. In the fourteen years that
• 37:25
  Speaker 10: I've been on city council, I have I don't recall
• 37:30
Speaker 10: any time in which our city council has had a
• 37:32
Speaker 10: partisan argument or a partisan disagreement. And in our society
• 37:38
Speaker 10: today in which we are just continually like both sides
• 37:41
Speaker 10: and no one's free from blame, and both sides are
• 37:45
Speaker 10: just continually hammering away with each other, what we're seeing,
• 37:49
Speaker 10: I think, even at the legislative level, is we're continuing
• 37:52
Speaker 10: to nationalize our political discourse, and this, in my opinion,
• 37:56
Speaker 10: is another step towards nationalizing local politics and bringing partisan
• 38:02
Speaker 10: issues to communities to divide people when those communities have
• 38:07
Speaker 10: said in the past they.
• 38:08
  Speaker 1: Don't want them.
• 38:09
Speaker 10: I mean, these community cities now have the ability if
• 38:13
Speaker 10: they want to have a partisan election. They have that
• 38:15
Speaker 10: ability to do that now under state law, and for
• 38:19
Speaker 10: us to mandate it is in my judgment, a very
• 38:24
Speaker 10: poor decision, because just because you can do something doesn't
• 38:29
  Speaker 10: mean you should.
• 38:29
Speaker 2: Now where does it stand now?
• 38:31
Speaker 10: Currently that bill is in the Judiciary committee. Okay, it
• 38:35
Speaker 10: has not come out well.
• 38:36
Speaker 2: And I think you've got a unique perspective, as I said,
• 38:38
Speaker 2: because in addition to the legislature, you're also a teacher,
• 38:40
Speaker 2: but you're also you served on a Nitro city council
• 38:45
Speaker 2: for some time. And I would like to think, and
• 38:47
Speaker 2: I don't know what your campaign style is, but I
• 38:49
Speaker 2: like to think that when you're going out in campaigning,
• 38:51
Speaker 2: do or not I can do whatever you're doing. No
• 38:53
Speaker 2: one has ever asked you what you thought about Greenland
• 38:55
Speaker 2: or Venezuela or pro life or you know whatever.
• 38:59
  Speaker 6: I mean.
• 38:59
Speaker 2: I would think you're a city councilman. Your your job
• 39:02
Speaker 2: is to fix potholes. Uh, it's to work on traffic issues,
• 39:06
Speaker 2: which we'll get to because it's cross lanes. We'll get
• 39:08
Speaker 2: to that here in a moment. That's what your job is.
• 39:10
Speaker 2: It is shouldn't in my opinion, it shouldn't matter what
• 39:13
Speaker 2: your party is. I mean, if you somebody ask you
• 39:15
Speaker 2: or any other person, you'll tell them, I'm sure, But
• 39:18
Speaker 2: but I mean, what difference does it make work on
• 39:20
Speaker 2: the sewers, work on the parks. It's not you know,
• 39:23
Speaker 2: it's not it's not about these national issues where.
• 39:25
Speaker 10: You're going to put apart how you're going to fund
• 39:27
Speaker 10: the police and fire department, what projects the community is
• 39:31
Speaker 10: going to be engaged in are not partisan issues. Those
• 39:36
Speaker 10: issues shouldn't know an ideology, right right theory. So so
• 39:41
Speaker 10: that's an issue that I think we need to pay
• 39:42
  Speaker 10: attention to.
• 39:43
Speaker 2: What other things have kind of got your attention under
• 39:45
Speaker 2: the dome. Then we'll we'll go back to cross lanes traffic.
• 39:48
Speaker 2: Everybody's face every time I say every time I say
• 39:50
Speaker 2: cross lanes traffic on the air, I picture in my
• 39:52
Speaker 2: head the Jimmy Hendrick song, you know, a crosstown traffic.
• 39:56
Speaker 2: But uh, we'll talk about cross Vegas in a moment.
• 39:59
Speaker 2: But uh, but let's talk about some other things that
• 40:01
Speaker 2: have kind of got your attention of the dum well.
• 40:04
Speaker 10: Of course, one of the biggest topics right now is
• 40:07
Speaker 10: a potential tax cut, and we're continuing to evaluate the
• 40:13
Speaker 10: feasibility of that. I am for responsible tax cuts. I
• 40:18
Speaker 10: think we have to weigh a lot of different equities.
• 40:21
Speaker 10: I think the budget this year is going to be challenging.
• 40:24
Speaker 10: We're considering pay raises, we have so many infrastructure challenges,
• 40:30
Speaker 10: I mean alluding to cross lanes. It's not only cross lanes,
• 40:33
Speaker 10: it's all across the state, and I think we need
• 40:35
Speaker 10: to be very cautious in our approach to this year's budget,
• 40:40
Speaker 10: and of course, zooming out for a second, I mean,
• 40:43
Speaker 10: the House is larger focus has been on running bills
• 40:49
Speaker 10: that will better the state's economy, Improving industrial access roads,
• 40:54
Speaker 10: improving the amount of grant money that we give to
• 40:56
Speaker 10: that program, several other economic folk focused job bills that
• 41:02
Speaker 10: our caucus has prioritized.
• 41:04
Speaker 2: All Right, the governor's tax proposal that's been floated out there,
• 41:08
Speaker 2: we've talked about on this show another page. Where are
• 41:10
  Speaker 2: you on that?
• 41:11
  Speaker 10: As I mentioned, I mean, I'm I'm I'm evaluating all
• 41:14
Speaker 10: the information on that and trying to be cautiously optimistic,
• 41:20
Speaker 10: but at the same time, I'm a little bit skeptical
• 41:23
Speaker 10: that we can get there. I don't know that we
• 41:25
Speaker 10: can get to ten percent.
• 41:26
Speaker 2: All right, cross lane traffic. Just to get to you
• 41:30
Speaker 2: nod to Jimi Hendrix, there's what's going on. Well, the.
• 41:36
Speaker 10: So they sort of have completed it in reverse order.
• 41:40
Speaker 10: That's what someone said to me the other day. Because
• 41:42
Speaker 10: if you if you visualize the cross lanes traffic project
• 41:45
Speaker 10: from the Interstate to Kroger to where aj is where
• 41:50
Speaker 10: it ends. That second section has been more or less completed.
• 41:55
Speaker 10: There's still some work to do there, but the consequence
• 41:58
Speaker 10: of that second section being completed from the four Way
• 42:01
Speaker 10: stop to Kroger has been a new traffic pattern, and
• 42:05
Speaker 10: that's been pretty confusing for people to grasp. There's now
• 42:09
Speaker 10: four lanes, so it's been pretty confusing on that end.
• 42:14
Speaker 10: The first section, which is by City National Bank, that's
• 42:17
Speaker 10: the focus now from there to the four way stop
• 42:21
Speaker 10: and the completion state. The completion date rather is still
• 42:25
Speaker 10: February twenty twenty seven, so about a year from now,
• 42:29
Speaker 10: if all goes well, it should be finished.
• 42:31
Speaker 2: And we'll still have snow and ice on the ground
• 42:33
  Speaker 2: by that point.
• 42:35
Speaker 10: I mean this arctic Arctic blast or the Snowmageddon.
• 42:40
Speaker 2: And Kanah County of course, was on Remote Learning Day
• 42:43
Speaker 2: again today as a and I know you take a
• 42:45
Speaker 2: leave to go serve with the legislature, but you still
• 42:48
Speaker 2: you don't stop being a teacher. So where are you
• 42:51
Speaker 2: on the remote learning thing and the amount of time
• 42:54
Speaker 2: people are outside the classroom the kids. I mean, I
• 42:56
Speaker 2: know it can't be helped. I get that. But in
• 42:58
Speaker 2: a perfect world, I should say, well.
• 43:00
Speaker 10: In a perfect world, and you know, nothing's perfect, right, Dave,
• 43:05
Speaker 10: In a perfect world, every student would be in a
• 43:07
Speaker 10: classroom learning remote learning. I mean, I will say.
• 43:12
Speaker 2: This some there is a sect there, There is.
• 43:17
Speaker 10: A segment of our student population that learns well online.
• 43:23
Speaker 10: But most students benefit tremendously from being in a classroom,
• 43:29
Speaker 10: in a classroom setting where they can interact with each other,
• 43:32
Speaker 10: where they can interact with their teachers. And I just
• 43:34
Speaker 10: think absorbing information in that setting is much easier than
• 43:38
Speaker 10: setting on your phone or iPad or on a device
• 43:42
Speaker 10: of some sort at home.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: It just I mean, and we'll close to this. It's
• 43:45
Speaker 2: just kind of like people working from home and working
• 43:47
Speaker 2: not working from home. I mean, some people thrive in
• 43:49
Speaker 2: a work at home setting and then some people, yeah,
• 43:51
Speaker 2: not so much. So that's right, don't get Andy Sham.
• 43:54
Speaker 2: It's always a pleasure to have you on a show

• 48:53
Speaker 2: we want to watch and we want to watch that

Speaker 2: they just want to talk to that person. And you know, look,
• 49:07
Speaker 2: that person may not be guilty. That person may have
• 49:09
Speaker 2: found the dog, witnessed or whatever, but they at least
• 49:12

• 49:46
Speaker 2: been abused or some that just need need proper medical care.
• 49:50
Speaker 12: Yeah, and they do. But this is just completely ridiculous,
• 49:54
Speaker 12: like this did not need to happen, and I just
• 49:58
Speaker 12: don't get it. You know, we coddle too many people,
