- 1:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's get into the news of the day, which is John Arbaugh has been dismissed in in Baltimore.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: And according to Jacina Anderson,
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: She says that the Miami Dolphins have or Miami Dolphins ownership has an affinity for John Harbaw.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: His agent has already come out in the last 10 minutes and said, 17 have called him.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_03]: Are there even seven vacancies?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: The math was 17, seven called and there are seven head coach openings, but one of them is Baltimore's.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: So Bata were like, look, we're firing you, but we want to interview you.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, as in, as in, 16s where that coach openings called and one team, that doesn't have a head.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: Wonder who that could be.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to get into it right here.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's an obvious upgrade.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: And look, all the jokes aside.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_03]: We're moving from a guy who had the third quarter.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: And that shenna entry.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, you had to tweet about this.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_03]: And it goes deeper than that, actually.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: The, the shenanet tree going to fourth quarters without the lead behind.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: They're just they just don't come from behind.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what it is.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: And Kyle shenanet has like some ridiculous record of like 138 coming from behind down one score or more going into the fourth quarter.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's not hard to figure out.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, it's not that hard to figure out because the thing that Mike McDaniel himself will tell you and has publicly is that this offense is one of the true only run-pass conflict based offenses in the NFL, right?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: That this offense is based on run-pass conflict.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, guess what happens when what goes out the window when you're behind late in the game?
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: The run.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're basing your offense on run pass conflict, and now the run is situationally unfeet not feasible, then, you know, what is your offense based off of.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think that one thing that the weakness of this this type of offense persistently consistently across the board.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: will tend to be that it sacrifices coverage conflict.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: concepts in and details in favor of the run pass conflict.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like in other words, we're going to we're going to position players, pre-snap, you know, and in the route running and the the route concepts and everything, we're going to position everybody to, you know, in the offense, the base offense, according to what presents is like these run plays.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, because every play, you know, there's a run play that looks just like this, there's a pass play that looks just like this, right, that's creating the run pass conflict, but when you're setting those details, sometimes when you're playing that spacing and that motion and stuff like that, you're actually disadvantaging.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: a coverage conflict where you know two guys run flooding to the same zone defender space and yes you know he has to decide and things like that.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think that there are a little there are decisions sometimes in the way that the plays are run about I do it this way and this would favor the run path's conflict but I do it this way and this is more sound from a
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that Mike McDaniel certainly is at the most extreme end, I think of the run pass conflict, and that's been a continual problem for him.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and his record at halftime when trailing has now moved to what is it for in 25 and his tenure here in Miami he only wins games when he's perfectly on schedule with the same formula grabs a lead defense rush is the passer and he runs the ball in the fourth quarter to win the game it's over like okay you have the exceptions you know that the comeback and Baltimore
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: There's a few exceptions, but for the most part, that's the only way he wins games.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: Now back to Harball.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: Harbour High's own reputation of blowing leads, but if you go back and somebody mentioned it, okay, they had it on NFL Live today, because they were talking about, look, like essentially that kick, essentially was one guy's getting fired.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: Not that Tomlin was going to be fired, but it seems like that was a very consequential kick that was missed at the end of that game against the Steelers.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_03]: People forget they were in the AFC championship game with that historic offense in 2023 and it was a fumble through the end zone by Zay Flowers that cost them the AFC championship game
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: like that's just dumb bad luck that's happening to John Harbaugh.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_03]: There's a clear upgrade and I guess I'll start with you Simon since since Chris got in first.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's nothing to talk about here, uh, unleash the the checkbook and get him his general manager of choosing, no?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then I know well, but there's an awful lot of hoops to jump through before we get to that
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, why would we think automatically that John Harble would want to come to Miami?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: What is so appealing?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's, we're 7 million over the cat.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: We've got 35 million in dead cat.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: We've only got the 11th overall peak.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a quarterback.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: We massive holes all over the team.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a quarterback who we're going to have to get rid of that's going to cost us, you know, perhaps an NFL historical NFL record in terms of dead cap money.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: We've got the Tyre Kills situation with the Austin Jackson situation with the mean to face patriotic situation with a bad big Trump situation.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he could easily go to places where they already have caught a vaccine in situ and, you know, you only have to look at.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the New York Giants being one of them, for example, and I'm chef to teach an hour ago that, you know, he's expected to emerge as the hot favorite for the head coach and job there.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: You look at Peter Schreger going, I'm not spoken to John yet or been given any confirmation that he wants the job, but John would be a perfect fit in the York with a Giants, a quarterback several past rushes, number one, I'd see with two young running backs, loads of cat space, a top five pick, you know,
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: The New York Correspondent for the Athletics is John Harbour has a high regard for the Giants job and for Jackson Dahl of the six-hichord of Jobings.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he's a Giants at number one.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, and that's just the Giants.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Cam Ward in Tennessee in terms of callbacks.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: The ultimate fuck you was to go to Cleveland, you know, one of the domestic situations.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: But that would be the ultimate fuck you.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: That would be, you know, that would be confusing decision.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: It would be very confusing.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know,
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: Whilst I think it would be great, I think there's an awful lot of hoops to jump through and, you know, Steve Ross would have, I just don't know that, you know, if Harbor is looking at it in the cold life day and he's thinking, what's the best job for me?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: What's the best job for me?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think mine was going to be close to the top of any list.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: And when you're a very rich person anyway and you're being offered at minimum, you
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: million per year, how much extra Steve Ross is going to have to put on the pie?
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: What else is John Harborg and what is he going to want to complete, you know, GM control in Miami?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what's the, I don't know.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yes, there are obstacles in those other places.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: Does he, does he like, Mike, Morgan Z in Tennessee?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Does he like Joe show him in, in New York and in their hurdles?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: It would be great, you know, harbour would come with, you know, Todd Munkin, the person he clearly as the as the rumours continue to swear on the information begins to come out.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like he wouldn't sack Todd Munkin and I think Munkin actually did a really good job.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he knows empty weaver.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: He was, you know, assistant head coach for multiple years in Baltimore.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: So there's also an awesome assignment Anthony Weaver, like he's the guy that's been talking up Anthony Weaver as a head coach.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: Big crime, like he's like this.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's a future edge coach.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's a big fan of them.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, you're sitting at the 11th pick in the draft with the the possibility of getting hands on a guy like Caleb Downs who becomes your car Hamilton.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: In terms of what he can do, different science, but you know, he can play the nickel, he can play a safety, he can run the alley, he's the sureest tackler in the draft pretty much.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: You said yourself out, you know, Miami players said that Caleb Downs are the best player that they've played against all season, you know, so yeah, I look at, there are, I just think there are so many dominoes that would have to fall right for him to end up in Miami.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: It would be great Chris.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'd all love it.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, he's a, he's a, he's a proven head coach.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there's been some problems, but I thought out for you highlight it perfectly.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the fun was really in so they're going to beat Buffalo last year and, and one of the best times of a generation mark and just drops the ball at the goal line.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, I mean, if we get to move forward, he forgets to run forward on on third death, which is really to this day, the most, the, I don't know what, how to describe that play, but the most bizarre playing in the history of football,
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then realistically last on Sunday night, going 272, you know, they land, they get a 44-year field goal, you know, they come back and back and back in that fourth score, you know, the lead changes to, you know, the mask was two touchdowns, you know, towards the end of the game.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't know what more, you know, people can do this.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: Come down to individual mistakes.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: They found it.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: But really, did you forget?
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: Did you forget how they opened the season?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: They had a 4 million point lead on the bills.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_03]: And on fourth down, Josh Allen hit a helmet.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: And it went right to to somebody's hands for a touchdown.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: I forgot who it was.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was King Coleman who caught it in the back of the end zone.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: On fourth down, the ball went off somebody's helmet to tie the game.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Tyler looped lining up for that 44 yard field goal.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, the way he looked, the way so smiling with a punter, the guy that was the holder, you'd say, he's gonna make this at, and he missed it.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: And it really comes down to individual mistakes and rather than collective failure from the head coach, yes, there are issues, of course.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, every head, you know, even the great, even the best head coach in the league, Andy Reed, Sean McVay, they're a still issues there, but, you know, let's not beat around the bush.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: John Harboard would be, you know, the best hey coach that this team has had, you know, certainly since Nick Saben and I know that didn't work out well, but you look at what Saben has done subsequently, but probably since Don Shuler, you know, he's one of Super Bowl, you know, he's one playoff games, he's been to the AC Championship game and, you know, we've just haven't had that in my, but I go back to what I said at the start Chris, there'll be a big queue for him and I don't think
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: No, and whether Miami's at the top of the queue or not, which I don't, I can't imagine they would be at the top of the queue because we've talked about how the situation with Miami with this salary gap to getting out the door.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: But there are pushback points of pushback.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I would give on that.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: which is one, I'm sorry, but if you think that the giants shit don't stink right now, you know, they're picking, they're picking top of the draft for a reason, right?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: But they recommitted to Joe Shown as a GM, right?
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: And this is the Tisch family, right?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: So when they have given their words, so to speak, that way you wonder if they'll re-neck on that, like all of a sudden,
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and is, uh, is Harba up for that, um, and I'm not sure that he is with, um, with somebody like that, uh, with, with, with, shown in, uh, in New Yorker.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Burganzi you mentioned before, especially that sort of weird power share and the power struggles that happened in Tennessee.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that Miami has some things going for them.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: One, obviously the Steve Ross connection is at play here.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the Harbra brothers are close and Steve Ross was basically Jim Harba's owner in Michigan.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think Larry Ellison and Steve Ross probably share their ownership there of the Michigan football program program, but but you so you know, there is a relationship there, it's a longstanding relationship.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that works in their favor also what did Miami do today, who did they request to interview for the GM position today, Chad Alexander Chad Alexander who is Jim Harbaugh's, you know assistant GM.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: uh, over in LA and grew up for 20 years in the Baltimore system, you know, and a big one.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: And who started tweeting about that immediately, Daniel Jeremiah.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Daniel Jeremiah starts tweeting about how Chad Alexander has all this experience with John Harbaugh.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: They would make a phenomenal pair to restart another franchise.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: Well, look at Daniel Jeremiah's connections.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Daniel Jeremiah is from that Baltimore, like you would see.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you learned at the knee of that, the long time general manager there.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: I keep forgetting his name.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's a Baltimore guy, Daniel Jeremiah is a Baltimore guy.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: So with all due respect to Adam Shepter and people talking about how the giants are at the top of the list.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, game is played for a reason, right?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and you don't, you miss a hundred percent of the shots that you don't take.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: And so can you imagine a speem though from Dolphin's fans when Harbour goes not to Miami We end up with Mike Medanio and then there's people have been really upset that we're now Doing people that know Matt Daniel from the 49ers.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: If we end up with one of those 49ers guys We lose out on Harbour people are going to be like that Well, but that's the thing you can't you can't lose out on Harbour and this brings me to the next point You can't lose out on Harbour but one last point actually
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: about what would it really be perplexing for our body to choose my amy.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: I go back to the Sean Peyton thing.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Peyton, Sean Peyton, chose Denver even though they had a nightmare situation brewing with Russell Wilson.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: And they had to get, they had to get that out of the way.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think that looked like a particularly good situation for anybody to step into when he did it.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: But it had to do with the ownership.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's the key.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's the ownership and the organization.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: And those are things that these coaches look at very differently than I think we do as fans.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we do we see these things as fans and and we're kind of, you know, all this is a joke of an owner.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is, you know, stuff like that.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think that these people in the position look view them a little bit differently.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: But that brings me to the other point, you know, losing out on our bond having to have a continual back.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's not going to happen.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: because I don't think we're going to be in position to lose out on Harba unless you fire Mike McDaniel and go through with a search, a real search.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: Now, what happens at the end of that search?
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Do you end up with John Harba?
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's obviously the prize.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do you end up with Kevin Stephansky?
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: Do you end up going a different direction with Jesse Minter or Jeff Haffley, guys like that?
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know, but the point is, again, you miss 100% of the shots.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: You don't take, right?
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you're going to go after John Harbaugh, then Steve Ross knows this, unfortunately, from personal experience, you can't do that while leaving Mike McDaniel twisting in the wind.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a reason you can't do that, right?
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's one thing to, you know, back channel with John Harbaugh and find out if he's, if he's intense to coach in 2026, or if he's, you know, gonna take a gap year back packing across Europe or whatever.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's, it's, you can find that out back channel.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: You can also find out back channel if Miami is essentially a non-starter for all the reasons that you talked about, so.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: like, you know, cap quarterback, you know, it's just like, sorry, you're not it, like you can back channel that and that and I think that would be okay, but if his answer is yes, I'm taking interviews, give me your best shot, you know, let me, you know, impress me and show me show me what you got from a general manager, you know, coordinator and stuff like that where we can hire a chat Alexander who he has a relationship as a general manager,
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: where we have Anthony Weaver's one of his favorite assistant coaches and we can hire a Todd monk and as the offense report, you know, things like that put together the package.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: If his answer is, give me your best shot, then you must immediately fire Mike McDaniel because you cannot afford, you cannot afford to burn the entire Shanahan branching tree.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: which is what would happen.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, people don't think that this would happen, but I think that the fans generally don't realize how much power, these powerful agents wield behind the scenes.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's not quite the same as the NBA or MLB from a player standpoint, but from a coaches standpoint it is.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: From a coaches standpoint, we know that Jimmy Sexton controls the coaching cycle in college football, for example, right?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: From a coaching standpoint, these power players matter.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: And the Shanahan tree is the fastest growing, probably most powerful.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: cadre, Khabal of coaches out there.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I keep joking about them as the shanagram network or the shanahan called.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: They were really, how do you think we, how do you think we got big fangeo?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: What's the reason?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Do one reason we got big fangeo as a defense coordinator?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: is because of that shanahan coaching network.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: So if you never want to hire somebody in a assistant coach from that tree or network or whatever you want to call it again, then yeah, okay, let Mike McDaniel twist in the wind and do him dirty like like you did Tony Sparano back in the day.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: And Steve Ross, by the way, felt very burned by what happened.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: with the Jim Harbaugh and Tony Sprano thing.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: And he even said, I'm not making that mistake again, right?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, fast forward many years who'll make that mistake again.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, like, I still think that you know you have to go through a respectful process and say, it's we're going to take a real shot at John Harbaugh and not just back channel to see if he's gonna take a gap you.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: Then, yeah, you got to fire Mike McDaniel and then just live with the results of that.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it ends up being Jesse Menter and maybe you're happy with that.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, maybe it ends up, the point is, I don't see what worth Mike McDaniel has established as a head coach to turn you into a coward in the face of opportunity.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I also don't see what worth Mike McDaniel has established as a head coach to say, I'm going to risk burning.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: a major power player in the coaching agent, you know, seeing, burning that entire tree down to where, you know, all those assistants were just more non-starter now, they're not going to come.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I have it from a source.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you do that to Richmond Flowers.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: That tree is dead, you know?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that the dolphins have to be very careful, as Simon said,
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of hurdles thinking it's it's basically now the first domino has fallen, which is Harbaugh has has been you know has been let go by the Baltimore Ravens.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: And that's only the first one.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: Now you're in the game.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: You haven't won the game.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: Now you're in the game, but you actually got to play the stadium play.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: You're in the game, but you got to play the win.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're in the stadium.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: You're not on the field yet, but you got to play it all because if you don't play it all, then you lose.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but let me say this.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: Steven Ross wants to play the hero or, you know, Tom Garfinkle, you want to be a hero?
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: Do what your predecessor did.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: Wayne Heizenga was a great salesman.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_03]: Wayne has ain't a sold three dumpster fires to the most desirable coach available at the time each time.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_03]: The third time was to an executive door for ourselves, but the first time people forget Dolphins had what was an eight first rompix the most expensive roster in all of football.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: and they went nine and seven and lost in the wall card round to the Buffalo bills in a total disappointment forced on Shula out brought in Jimmy Johnson and people were going to say, I am, but Jimmy was a Miami guy.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: Jimmy Johnson was being corded by the Tampa Bay books at the time.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: So Jimmy Johnson had a choice and he took the dumpster fire in Miami.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, the other issue for Harbour as well is that in Miami is that they are essentially staring down the barrel potentially of a Lamar Jackson light free agent quarterback in Malik Willis, who is out in Mexico, and you know,
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, lots of people, I tweet about this on Sunday, lots of people like Malik with a sucks man.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's terrible.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: This is obviously from people that he'd have more sense of celebrity or, you know, just don't understand football.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, it was set up to fail in Tennessee, has been excellent when having to step in.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was 3-0 last year for the Packers when he stepped in for Jordan Love.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he was...
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: 3 and 1 this season.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, the only game we lost was against the bears when there were 10 points ahead with that in a minute to go and some Aaron explained could be noticed to screw that up through no folders.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: He actually lost the John Harbour.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: He lost to the
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so there you go.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: But through for like 383 yards against the bears was absolutely flawless.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: When, you know, had like always 100 yards rushing and cut the touchdown runs, you know, and this is a guy that's clearly going to get paid a significant amount of cash.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe it's the number of the down on one ski quote this afternoon, but all this evening.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: But he's going to, he's obviously going to get paid in the off season.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and there for John Harbour is a situation where Miami doesn't record that.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and the elephant in the room for me, you know, as I've written about it today for, for one of the Dolphin's websites is that, you know, it's to lose or not to lose essentially, you know, 2027 and archmaning is staring Miami in the face, you know, we were in the situation in 2019-2020 with Joe Barrow and we.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: We managed to screw that up by winning too many games and now we're in a position, you know, the record wouldn't say so, but you look at the bigger picture in terms of the people that are going to leave the turmoil, whatever's happening, the cap issues, all of those things, the dolphins are in a really solid position for for for arts mining in 2027 and
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is an entire thing if you're a, if you're a head coach, it's a different conversation to have, you know, it's a different conversation for a general manager but I would absolutely believe the one of the first three questions that Steve Ross or Damarina or whoever asked and there's meetings is what would you do about the court by situation and I, I know for a fact, because the source has told me this, but I know for a fact that conversations will have happened or have I put this about?
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: questions will be asked about their opinion of what's shaping up to be a super draft in 2027 in terms of the bigger picture.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: How could it not?
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean even if even if the president hadn't told me how could it, how could they not have a conversation about look?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a quarterback.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: We've got quintuers.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a lot of money for a free agent, milk, will this mic prices out of the market?
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: But coming down the pipe in 12 months time.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: is another man in kid who save for three games that start the season and at where we was clearly nursing in injury, he's been pretty unbelievable.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to come into the season as the highest in favor and the apps, if he was in this draft, he'd be pushing, you know.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: probably a name alone, but also on the talent he would probably go number one, him and men knows it would be a toss-up, even those on the red shirt sophomore, but you know, it's, that's got to be a conversation, right?
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be a conversation.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, not the original norsellers and, yeah, I don't know, do more say it, you take cards, my other and season are, yeah, all of these kids, you know, but, but to me there is,
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: there is one guy and then there's you know, a lot of other really good.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Joe Burro came from nowhere.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: They can make feel come from nowhere.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's there's a lot of things happen.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: People fall away.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: People max out as sophomores or juniors or, you know, who knows what will happen.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: But you kind of get the sense that nothing is a certainty to drive, but, you know,
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: archmaning feels like and also look at the takes of players that are staying.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Gooseby, who looked like he was going to be the first offensive tackle of the board, staying.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Cam Coleman looks like they're going to sign Cam Coleman the Auburn wide receiver.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: They're building up for a run at a national title.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, guys are staying, Rob, maybe jumping in the port or leaving.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, all eyes will be on arch in terms of, you know, the highest burn that the National Championship, circle of us, he coming back, good players being built around him.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: So, he's going to be in prime position to be that pick.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: And the dolphins need to be in that race.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: They do need to be in that race.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it'll be fascinating to see out plays out.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's Jim Harbour, a John Harbour at the helm, who knows.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and with Brendan source, we go into Texas tech on a lot of roster, you know, and he has that potential, like he has that, you know, alien potential.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_03]: He cannot rip it, yes, he can rip it, but yeah, back to my dumpster fire analogy, it just kept going with win highs and good.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: that they once that dumpster fire people forget they were four and twelve.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: They were awful.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_03]: He had the most desirable coach in Nick Sabin.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: They had Ken Cameron.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: They went one and 15.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_03]: He went and he got and he gave the keys to the kingdom to Bill Parcells who left the Tampa Bay bucks again twice.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins have done the other bucks twice.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_03]: Left them at the altar so he could take the dolphin job.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: So Wayne Hayesinger was able to sell a dumpster fire three times.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm asking
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I'm asking too much.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know, do your job at Tom Garfinkle, right?
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's definitely possible.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think that, you know, and I think that there's more going in favor of Miami than probably.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: We think, you know, there was there was a tweet earlier in the, earlier in the office, or not in the office, isn't it?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: We're still seasoned technically.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: There was a tweet earlier that talked about how, you know, the Miami Dolphin situation is viewed by, you know,
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: We all probably think, you know, because of the commitment to owner first off, it's you know think of it in baseball terms.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: This is a big market team, you know, this is a this is an owner that's flush with cash in other words right so Steve Ross is one of the richer owners and is very flush with cash and not afraid to use it right.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think Omar Kelly once said something along the lines of they had trouble getting somebody to come service the getting the major company that services the football fields around the NFL.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: you know, they had trouble getting them to do to do that.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: So Steve Ross bought the company, you know, and so, and I think that, I think that, yes, this is an owner that is flush with cash that is close to using.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: I got, I got two better examples.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you got, but I'm saying not only not only is that is, but there's the relationship between Steve Harba or Steve and the Arba's.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: right and then there's Anthony Weaver's presence and then there's the fact that Miami has a vacancy at their general manager position already and you know just requested a guy that is definitely that would that would look good even according to a Baltimore guy like Daniel Jeremiah would look good next to Harba as a as a tandem and Miami's willing to probably willing to
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: right like it and to to whatever to suit whatever Harba wants that way.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're probably willing to do it.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's backing in that room and in that building for John Harba already.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: We discussed it, you know, you say chosen Anderson said something about the affinity there.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think there are other players behind the scenes that also are on board there.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Just and I heard that earlier today back when I thought John Harba was a boot point.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: because because he wasn't going to be available, and then all of a sudden he was, um, you know, so I think that Miami does have things going for it, and I think that we have sort of a little bit of an inferiority complex.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, this is the best hey coach to hit the market, probably since what Andy Reed in 2013, 12, yeah, I mean, I don't know that's a stretch to say that.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: And how few had other examples of Steve Ross thrown his money around slaying it.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, my favorite example was when the Miami hurricanes played a game in the mud against Virginia, and I'll never forget it.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: They absolutely destroyed the field.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: And this was about eight years ago.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's Virginia Miami.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: They destroy the field on a Saturday.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_03]: The next day, the dolphins are playing.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: And the field is an absolute mess.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: So he calls the sod company to have a new field installed.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: That following week, and they tell him you have to wait two weeks.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_03]: So he bought the sod farm.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what that's what Omar was talking about.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like he bought the farm, he bought the company.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: And he said, I'll have it here in a day now, you know, that that's the type of thing that all a coach really wants a coach I think looks beyond just next year's roster and next year's salary cap I think they look to deeper structure issues and ownership and and especially money and and I think that that's Miami has some of those things going for it.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but yeah, it's going to be up to Stephen Ross and whatever structure he has with him we've already and we're going to talk about that on the other side of the break.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: The candidates and the structure that they have.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_03]: No Mike McDonough is not sitting in the cuck chair.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I balling.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: It's zoom.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_03]: Although who knows, maybe he's on his phone from a bathroom where something.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_03]: Look at these zoom meetings, but he's evidently not asking questions.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: So that was an erroneous report that was out there.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to go to break when we come back.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: We will talk about these candidates.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe a little college football playoff semifinal.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_03]: But first, these words, GM search.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's underway.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_03]: Trake, it's in the room.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_03]: Damoreno is in the room.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's Daniel Silman is in the room.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_03]: Stephen Ross is in the room.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: Garfinkle, Brandon Shore.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_03]: That's the list.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: There is no Mike McDaniel on there.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was interesting when he said, well, I'm a resource.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, he said, he said, yeah, I am part of the process.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was part of the process or you part of the GMI ring and interview process and he said, Yeah, I'm a part of the process.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Mike.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I just saw your press conference and nobody.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: You're not part of the process.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're not part of the process.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're not part of the process.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_03]: I like what he said, well, I'm a resource.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I know people.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it felt like a threat actually.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_03]: You know?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: the way he said it.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_03]: But they're asking questions.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to conduct all of these interviews and finish them by Wednesday night.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: So by tomorrow night, all by Zoom, and I would assume that they're going to bring in somebody in person.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to narrow it down.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to narrow it down this list.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: And the list having in front of me is to Rika Mod, RJ Gillen, Alice Hallaby, John McKay, John Eric Sullivan of the Packers.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: And Josh Williams, who is with the first two guys, Amad and Gillen with the 49ers.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: And Josh Williams has a reputation as being friendly with Mike McDaniel.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: And now
- 34:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so you called them, uh, McDonald's Ringer.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: I guess we'll learn.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: I guess we'll learn.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I guess we'll learn we'll learn.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: where this thing went, or how it took part.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think Triakma will ever say anything because he's gonna be signing an NDA.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: He's not gonna, you know, they're gonna pay him his consultant fee and with that consultant fee, he's gonna say, you're not gonna say a damn thing.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: He wants to be a general manager eventually, by the way, he can throw it out of it.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I wouldn't, I wouldn't be completely opposed to a Zarr role, like I've said a million times before.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think that he wants to use this process,
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: to learn and to begin his process of eventually becoming a general manager, so what do you make?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about the process then we'll talk about the individual candidates.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_03]: What do you make about this process and the way it's taking place?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_03]: Too many people in that room, Chris?
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think there's too many people in that room and I think that the weird the only weird thing was that there was some confusion, you know, Cameron Wolf saw and talked about Brandon Shore quarterbacking it.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that would there was just a gen there's genuine probably misunderstanding to do with, you know, bookings and stuff like that, like, you know, somebody has to go around and maybe maybe Brandon Shore is doing that.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but like, you know,
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports that said outright, he said that, you know, Daniel Silman is, there's the son and law of Steve Ross and and works with him closely and all of sports properties.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: And has for a long time and is actually a surprisingly major hitter in in in.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: you know, the soccer world and as well as NBA and things like that, that he was taking a bigger bigger role in this and that he Daniel Sillman and Tom Garfinkle are quote unquote leading the process.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: Jonathan Jones said that at CBS Sports and he had to retract it.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: So the dolphins obviously called him up and you know went with the company line which is basically Steve Ross and Steve Ross alone leads this.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's not very mature and it's not Daniel Selman and Tom Garfinkel.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think they have the right people in the room.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: The ones that you would make the most sense.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think the only confusing thing, frankly, from my standpoint, from a process standpoint, is that is taking aside Mike McDaniels kind of weird, like trying to shoehorn himself into the situation.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that,
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: they said and this was universal across all media that this is that they're going for a somebody like a scout they said that a scout somebody where they've strong scouting background and they talked about the power structure and Brandon Shore getting empowered and you know probably getting a promotion.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: and this co-equal kind of position thing, and they talked about other teams with that have the exact same structure and Detroit and the Rams and things like that.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then, oh yeah, Alec Haliby is on our list.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, John McCay is on our list, young guys, young guys, eggheads, all right, let's just say, and, and, you know, like, even just looking at the San Francisco guys, RJ Gillan was, you know, he worked for, he worked for Shapiro negotiations or whatever, like he, he was,
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: He consulted for the NBA, consulted for the MLB, consulted for, you know, in terms for negotiations.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: He worked for the San Antonio spurs, and then when he came to the 49ers, he's been, you know, on the pro side, and been kind of part of strategy and, you know, football operations and stuff like that.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Williams is actual title and actual job responsibilities right now are football ops.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: football ops and contract negotiations and things like that.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: And so like you said that you were going for like the image popped in your mind of the grizzled scout that's been there forever.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: You said that you were doing this, but then you filled up your your your card, your dance card with a bunch of guys who are not that.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: And who don't really fit that very well with the exception of probably too.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: And those are John Eric Sullivan, who you can talk about Simon.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then Torek Ahmad, from the 49ers, Torek Ahmad, those are your grizzled scouts.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: Torek Ahmad was a road war here.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he was he lived on the East Coast and he went and went around all the different colleges until they brought him back a few years ago to be based out of San Francisco and coordinate and build the entire scouting effort.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what I mean, it's they're going to revamp everything, right.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: So they want somebody who's going to build the scouting, you know, the entire scouting department.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's a little bit confusing and it's almost like does Brandon sure have this locked up, you know, this, this power structure job and role locked up, like what's what's the deal there, are they getting ideas, are they picking the brains of an alic alibi, you know, and how they do things in Philadelphia under how he roseman, are they picking the brains of, you know, John McCay, what are the, what exactly are they doing there.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the only confusing thing to me.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, you know, it just seems like the search and now we're adding one who, you know, if we have a ringer, a Mike McDaniel ringer in Josh Williams, now we have a John Harbour ring in chat Alexander.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_03]: And so, so we have to figure out that.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: and a pro personal guy.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_03]: So he's going to have to have a pretty deep roll of decks of people that he can hire because Miami right now has nobody like there's there's just champ Kelly in an office sitting there.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_03]: So they need to hire those are two pretty big spots underneath.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_03]: the general manager, who is most capable out of this entire list, who has the best role of decks in his entire list to fill out those two spots as well?
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, I'm a big advocate for this Christian, I'm a big advocate for the John Eric Sullivan and the reasons are multiple, his dad is obviously Jerry Sullivan, the kind of
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I just see his coaching college from 71 to 99 at South Carolina, LSU, Ohio State.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, there was a charge of the Lions, the Cardinals.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was the Dolphins, YGC, his coaching 2004.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's from Miami.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: He grew up in Miami.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: He played quarterback.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: in high school in Miami, that this is his dad.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: So John Eric has grown up, you know, played a Jackson High School.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's grown up in a football environment, right?
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's grown up around football people, that's been his, that's been his thing.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: You went to Gardner Webb, this is John,
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: Eric went to Gardaway and then joined as a student assistant at Gardaway in 2001 and then essentially joined the Packers as a as a summer assistant and and stuck around and stayed on, you know, and it's done so at the end of that transition from
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: a lot more for him to Ted Thompson, you know, and has been around pretty much every great back as draft since 2003, right the way through until, until now, you know, he want to see the ball, and has kind of moved up from, you know, scout to director of college scouting, to vice president of player personnel, which is what he's what he is now.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's extremely well respected.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: Inside the Packers organization, I think he knows everybody because why wouldn't you?
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: You're at one of the brew-riven franchises in the league and you've been there for 23, 24 years.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now the question is, as it would be with Chris Greer and we've complained about it enough is, you know, was he almost an organization too long, you know, institutionalized, perhaps.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and those, I think those questions are fair, but I think, you know, he's well-liked, he's well-regarded,
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if he was to come in, that would put Malik Willis front and centre, but also if there was a change at head coach, I think that obviously Jeff Haffley, he was a head coach at Boston College and a builder of culture and a builder of teams there, in college and has done a great job with the Pakistani friends, Jeff Haffley Adam Sinevich, who was the brilliant offensive line coach,
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: along with Matt LaFla, and then Anthony Campini, like who, you know, we had at the Dolphins who went to Green Bay for a year as a Lion Macas coach, there's now done an amazing job with the Jaguars defenses, a defensive coordinator, obviously stunned the playoffs, but I think those those guys both players and coaches then come into view if he is the guy, but he should you all respect it as I said, I think he would be my favorite leader in the clubhouse.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't know that he has a relationship with Martin Daniel, I don't know he has a relationship with John Harbour, beyond knowing them.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, I think he will know Martin Daniel through his connections with Matt LaFlor and going back to McVay and those sorts of things, but it remains to be seen what, you know,
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: To me, the most interesting question is the thing that the Barry brought up last night, which is that it's his belief that multiple people have not been told rather than Daniel is staying or going and look I don't I don't have a problem with that actually I think a lot of people were really upset about it last night.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have an issue with it.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you pre-determine anything heading into the interview process with respect to GMs?
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm Steve Russell, I'm sure on a special short statement, I want to know what Alec Calabé or John Eric Sullivan and the rest of these guys think about our incumbent head coach.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: I want honesty and I want transparency.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want to know what people in Philadelphia and Green Bay and Los Angeles and San Francisco think.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be, I want to hear honest opinions about what they think, you know, this is a franchise where adults in the room have been scarce for a long time for many years, so why not find our what other buildings around the NFL?
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Believe, you know, wood might look down, you'll get another head coaching gig in this cycle, John Eric, would any of the team's time as a coordinator, Alec, you know, what of players, what of your players said about playing against him?
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've said, playing out about his scheme.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'm okay with the fact that they don't know whether or not what Daniel is saying and I suspect strongly that they will be told in these meetings that no decision has been made on what Daniel and an educated guess will tell me that
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they'll be told that if he's retained in any bombs, it's not going to affect their status, which again is smart.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: The new gym then chooses his guy knowing his job is safe because he spent his Earthies and underneath a lame dot coach.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: But if McDonald's succeeds, he'll get a new gym looks even better.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, that's a kind of win win situation.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't have an issue with the way it's been.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think the dolphins have handled this pretty well.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think they made a massive mistake last year coming out straight away with that terrible.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: The terrible kind of PR thing where they said, oh, Chris and Mike are going to stay for another year and that, you know, that was just such a bad move and I think, you know,
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Microsoft owners under contract, they don't need to come out and make any comment about whether or not he's staying, going, picking his nose, doing whatever, and it gets a smart play because it's left it open for them to say, well, you know what, well, if John Harbour hits some of it, what's Mike Tomlin hits some of it?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_03]: Well, if that was Flur, get some of the first round and there's you know, yeah, there's a weird story there, like, I've done a little digging on that, like, yeah,
- 46:11[SPEAKER_03]: guys like Matt LaFore are not going to coach next season on a one-year deal like that.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Matt LaFore is entering the contract situation, you know, so and as much as I've been last week that I don't think Matt LaFore is leaving Green Bay and I don't think he will, but there is a contract situation brewing.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, and I'm not overly solid to say that that might be the happiest camp in terms of that relationship with Martin Murphy and Brian Gutenkensten and LaFla and till that deal gets sorted because, you know, these negotiations are delicate and
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he would leave, but I just think these things are really, I think the way that they've handled them at dangerous situations.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: If my attempt doesn't know about his future, then that's why you can't do any job mate.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do any job until we say that you don't.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be paid handsomely regardless.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you get sacked, you're going to be paid handsomely anyway.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it's a prick to your ego.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: But you're still going to get paid.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get another job.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to be into the, you know, you're probably going to have the head coach and join a couple of years time.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: But he is part of the process.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: He is part of the
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: The isn't part of that, but yeah, I just I actually for once think that they've handled it well until your initial question of 50 minutes go to Chris about are there too many people in the room I don't think so I would have a I have.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad that Clarekman's involved, I'm so glad that he's involved, just somebody else who just brings a completely different perspective, who looks it in a different way, who's not been around the same accolades for years and years and years.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway Daniel Sillman is part of that.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he's connected but he's kind of an outsider.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: The other guys are very much inside us, you know, and you're hearing the same things over and over and over and over again.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it's why I hate to advocate for people losing their jobs, but I don't think the dolphins can move forward with the same scouts and the same personal people, the wrong blocking turns and that they've got to change.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's clearly not going to change on an ownership level.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's clearly not going to change on an executive level.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: Something's got to change and if it's the Scouts.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: then unfortunately, that's the nature of the business.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want them to be sacked, but unfortunately, I think that's what they've got to do.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think to this point, 24, 40 hours in, I am in agreement, generally, with how it's being handled.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I absolutely think that when, you know, when as Adam Schiff reports within 45 minutes, John Harbour's agent got seven phone calls,
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm equivocally, Miami would have been one of them.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: And Mike McDaniel will be sat at home with his wife.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now, knowing that one of those calls was absolutely... Why wouldn't he not stupid?
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: He would know that the dolphins had called John Harbour.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: Of course he would.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: But I think there is a difference between making that phone call and seeing and testing the water, so to speak.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, versus versus, you know, what they did, what the mistake with Jim Harbaugh and Tony Sparano back in the day was what it's Steve Ross do.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: He flew out there for a big meeting with Jeff Ireland with Jeff Ireland the GM at the time.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, they, they had, they had essentially what is an interview process.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: with Jim Harbaugh and left Tony's Morano back at home while they did all that.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sorry, but that's not going to fly.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_02]: You can't do something like, yeah, you can make a phone call, like I said, are you sitting out the year?
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: Are you not interested in Miami at all?
- 49:38[SPEAKER_02]: Because of these problems that Miami has in front of them.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely have that conversation.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think both Richmond Flowers and Mike McKang
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: But there is a difference, there is a line to be crossed there.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: And to your point, Simon, about, you know, they haven't informed these GM's, whether Mike McDaniel is going to be back or not.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I fully agree with you, that's correct, right?
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like you shouldn't.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm led to believe that essentially these candidates are coming in and presenting their plans with McDaniel and without.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, like, if we, if we have micmillanial as the head coach, then, you know, I might attack things this way if we don't have micmillanial as a head coach, I might attack.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: things this way, but also they're allowed, they're allowed, obviously, to weigh in on what their preferences would be.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: And like, you know, I believe in starting clean, I believe, and you know, it can be really tough to have a situation where, you know, you're one foot in on a coach and then you're teaching all these young players, you're building a program with these young players that you're acquiring.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you're going to have a year of teaching them a system that has gone.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: you know within a year's time.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're setting all those young players back and so some of them might have a preference to say, well, I prefer to start clean with clean commitment, clean multi-year commitment.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: Can you give me a multi-year commitment to ask Steve Ross?
- 51:06[SPEAKER_02]: Can you give me a multi-year commitment that Mike McDaniel is going to be the head coach of this franchise for the next three years or plus?
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: Can you give, you know, turn that question back around.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Steve Ruskin give that commitment.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_02]: And so these guys should be allowed to express that what is really ideal for this build is, you know, clean, multi-year commitment to a same program that's going to be the same program for the next three years so that we have a chance to actually build on things.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: from one year to the next.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that they're all going to go in there and they're going to say, well, this is what things look like for us if we, you know, Mike McKay, you know, you know, this is what he's good at and blah, blah, blah.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: And then this is what happens if we don't have Mike McKay.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's part of their process for for for actually evaluating Mike McKay,
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: Is they want to hear all that, well, I want to hear what your plan is with me.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: Mike, Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I don't want to hear what your plan is without Mike, I
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: And that could be an integral part of evaluating it.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that's all aside from the hard work thing.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: Just take that completely aside.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that thing was being was have been released for the New Ravens.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: Hey coach, who's the favorite?
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Flores, I would say.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: I was the favorite plus 700.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's fourth favorite.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_02]: And do we ever?
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then he was, he is 20 to 1, 1, 2.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow, wow, way down.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13th favorite.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm, favorite for the Ravens job.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Flores it's so Stefanski is fifth, Flores is four and then two defensive coordinates, two defensive guys, one offensive guy, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse Menop, Jesse
- 53:14[SPEAKER_03]: and there's one offensive guy you said, right?
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: One offensive guy's third favorite plus five.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thought monkey.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's not on the list at all.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_03]: No, I have to be as to be somebody.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody connected to Lamar Jackson because Lamar Jackson has a no trade clause.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: So somebody that can have me today.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, kill the cliff Kingsbury.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: With Kingsbury's third favorite.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, by the way.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_03]: Did you imagine by the way does Cliff Kingsbury ever have to like win games?
- 53:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good other job.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not necessary not required because it is now
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: a look, he was there this year and he was the offensive coordinator of that dumpster fire.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously he was obviously good last year.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_03]: They went to the NFC championship game, but other than last year his entire record, including college, is just a record of losing.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: You had to pass every blinds for fuck's sake.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_03]: And lost with him, he had Baker Mayfield as well, okay?
- 54:21[SPEAKER_03]: And and shit can't him.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: in favor of Patrick Mahomes, so, you know, I guess he could have that feather in this cap, and he's essentially lost everywhere he's been, and he keeps getting job after job after job.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, nuts, he isn't nuts, but doesn't this elf doesn't this tell you, doesn't this tell you something about Chris Shula as I had coach candidate?
- 54:42[SPEAKER_02]: like he's home if if that's if that's if the Ravens are parting ways with John Harbock to go with Chris Shula.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: Again, what are you losing by firing Mike McDaniel?
- 54:55[SPEAKER_02]: Because we've been through this as weaknesses and stuff like that.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: What are you so afraid of?
- 54:59[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, another Shula another Shula in Baltimore.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, so five years from now, we take Kishula from the Ravens.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_03]: We get docked the first rompick and we launch a 30-year career of the greatest head coach in NFL history.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that is really live history.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think this coaching class is being undersold.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_02]: in my opinion because now you've got tends to fancy out there.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: You've got John Harball out there, which is a big fish obviously.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jesse Minder and guys like Jesse Minder Jeff Haffley are and maybe even Clint Kubiak or somebody like that are good candidates.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: Anthony Weaver is a decent candidate frankly.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, and, and now, Khrushula is going to be the guy that replaces John Harba and, and, and, and Baltimore, you don't think, you know, okay, you lost out on John Harba.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we should try and move Khrushula.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, you know, I mean, there's something to tell you what the hell are you afraid of.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's no way, like there's no way this fan base will be sorely on Chris Shula being hired like tomorrow.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, not at all.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the most popular hires you can make for us.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_03]: Now back to Jim Harbaugh, because I thought that this was interesting.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_03]: Our owner Stephen Ross got on a plane without knowing the answer to his questions.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_03]: And in fact, he did not know.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_03]: that Jim Harbour was kind of committed to staying on the West Coast at all costs.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_03]: And the only reason he went to Michigan is because that's his alma mater and come on.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_03]: You don't say no to where you were a legendary quarterback at, right?
- 56:41[SPEAKER_02]: So you've got to go ahead.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I agree that Jim was always going to was always going to stay out there because he eventually did go to Michigan and, you know, this last time when he got hired by the chargers, his daughter had committed to a volleyball scholarship out west, his wife famously loves being out west.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, father, father out west.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard this before.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so, so like he's a west coast guy.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_03]: He's a California.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: He is.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: But it wasn't out of the question at all.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_02]: And you say he didn't know the answers to these questions, but frankly, I don't think we're thinking about it enough from the standpoint of the coach.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: How can you give an earnest answer via a phone call?
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like, hey, what do you think about coming here?
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, like, no, there's, there's, there are things we gotta go through.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_02]: Like a long-ass media, why do you think these meetings last like five fucking hours?
- 57:41[SPEAKER_03]: Right, well, wait, interesting story.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'm watching a documentary.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you've seen it.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, I highly recommend it cause I know you love these things.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_03]: Have you seen the documentary, raised the flags, the history of the Tampa Bay
- 57:53[SPEAKER_03]: You haven't seen it.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_02]: I have not seen it.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, it's absolutely awesome.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_03]: It gets into the weeds of all their hires and all that stuff.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_03]: They essentially engage on a complete dumpster fire when they fired Tony Dungee because they thought they had bill parcels ready to go, then bill parcels said, no, I'm not interested.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_03]: And they said, well, now we don't have a coach and they're going back and forth.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_03]: And they're like, you know what, I think Al Davis is going to fire John Gruden and they said, Ow, are you going to fire them?
- 58:25[SPEAKER_03]: And Al Davis is like, why are you calling me about John Gruden?
- 58:28[SPEAKER_03]: Are you interested in John Gruden?
- 58:30[SPEAKER_03]: And he goes, yeah, and then he goes, okay, I'll send you what I need and he asked for two first rompics and two second rompics and eight million dollars in cash.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: Don't tell me why he wanted the eight million dollars.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_03]: So the books say yes and the glazers call Grootin and it's all Grootin.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_03]: Are you interested in coaching the books?
- 58:51[SPEAKER_03]: And Grootin says yes.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_03]: And he goes, and the glazers tell him,
- 58:59[SPEAKER_03]: And we're going to make you sign a piece of paper that essentially says you can't coach anywhere else for the next five years if you back out on us so yeah you got to have a certain commitment if you're going to engage on this John Harball gambit because you could come out looking like a complete idiot.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_03]: if you strike out on John Harbour.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_03]: So I suggest that they get their ducks in a row and they do this one right if they're going to pull this thing off on John Harbour.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_03]: Last thing before we get into the context football playoff semi final out of this entire list and we kind of mentioned all of them and you know in fact yeah we kind of mentioned all of them.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_03]: The only one that I see is kind of light
- 59:42[SPEAKER_03]: because it seems like he would be a lateral move for like he could easily hire him to be the the national scout or the he's more more depth to be pro personal guy.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_03]: So he's the only one who's very light on qualifications, right Chris?
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, um, it does look that way on paper, but I know some people that are impressed with them, like I know I know some people that that actually are genuinely impressed and it was it was expressed to me that, you know, he'll get him in a room with Steve Ross and he's kind of right up Steve Ross's alley.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, in terms of being impressive and things like that.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I, you know, I wouldn't sleep on a middle.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but, uh, you know, as far as my favorite that way probably would be haliby to bring, but, but also the most confusing, because they said they want to scout.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not haliby.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_02]: And that's, you know, and I'm not sure that's McKay either.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm not sure that's, well, I mean, it is Josh Williams to a degree.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, that's not John.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: description right um necessarily uh he does have scouting and he does do a lot of scouting if just just saying that there's there's other things there.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but you know, I think if you want the grizzled scouts, they're John Eric Sullivan, and they're to reach them up and those are the guys you're going to sit down at a table and they're going to talk about players in a way that is going to impress you with their knowledge about players like in, and their ability to pop on a film and see which guy definitely is an NFL player in which guy is not, you know, and I think that that's, um, if that's what the dolphins want, then that's kind of where I imagine they go.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, John or Xelevin is I think it's the most attractive and if you're going to play 40 tests with Matt with floor possibly having a contract standoff and help to have that guy in your building, right?
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_03]: Although for those asking, they would not fire him.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_03]: They would actually have to trade him to Miami if you want to.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_03]: If you wanted to coach here.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I wouldn't hurt with Malik Willis either, you know, if that's if you've got conviction.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and by the way, for those thinking about it, coaches are not like players.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_03]: You can't trade them wherever you want.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_03]: They essentially all have no trade clauses.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_03]: So if he's under your contract, you can trade them.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_03]: Like the the Packers can trade Matt LaFlor, but he has to agree to go someplace.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_03]: you know, like the Packers can't trade them to Cleveland, like that's not how it works.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_03]: Some of you have anything on John McCabe, the least qualified of all these candidates, or he's the not or any thoughts on any of these candidates that you are not in on.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you're muted.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_03]: You're muted.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_03]: You're muted.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_01]: I like all of them.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: Again, it goes back to the point I made 20 minutes ago.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have an issue with the Howard's been handled.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't issue with the guys that come in a couple of names.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't, as mine is seen, reacting to his one, and Wilma Clay is another, but you know, the seven guys, plus champ Kelly they've got, you know, guys that we've been talking about for 18 months,
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_01]: on our discord and staff from, you know, we hit probably 80% of them, a couple of the 49ers guys, you know, the RJ Gillins guy, I know less about, but, you know, um, no, I'm happy.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_03]: All right, college football playoff semi final.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be football intensive this week and because we got
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_03]: Ole Miss Miami on Thursday, Indiana, Oregon on Friday, the wall card round on Saturday and Sunday and Monday where the Steelers are going to try to extend their record to 25 and 0 in the last 25 games at home on Monday night football against the Texans.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_03]: So five days of football, we're going to start here.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_03]: Ole Miss Miami, this is going to be a lot of fun.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_03]: You know where I'm I'm leaning
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll start with you, Chris, your thoughts on this game and anything else that you want to talk about any of these two teams.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_03]: Any prospect or anybody, anybody that cut your eye, anything, because you said there was something you wanted to talk about.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm sure that's about that.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's about the other game, but the mostly about the other game, you know, we're talking old miss, old miss Miami.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_02]: Then I think you obviously have to be rooting for Miami.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think the Miami frankly caught a little bit of a break.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: by, you know, with the opponent draw.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: I do have a lot of respect for Ole Miss, but I think that that could have been, that could be the easier matchup for Miami in particular.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, the destiny,
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: thing that is the hurricanes this year, um, you know, going all the way back to the way they started this season, the middle of the season, and then they'd be controversy with Notre Dame and versus Miami and things like that, you know, it just just feels like another, another destiny thing.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: And they could pack their own stadium because the tickets would go on sale Saturday morning for the national championship game.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: And the script writers have this one
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and we'll be available 45,000 seats.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_03]: The other 25,000 belong to corporations and the networks.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts, Simon, Ole Miss, Miami, on Thursday night.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think Indiana, Oregon will be a cagey affair.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think this will be a kind of a boost to the wool kind of game, especially with the way that Ole Miss played on offense.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Kewon Lacey, the running back years, had not standing at 159 yards rushing.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we saw Trinidad Chambers can do against Georgia.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, the biggest issue we're containing that edge threat of, of bane and, and of message or but they do have the ability to, to get the ball out quickly.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: Chamberless can obviously hurt people with his feet way more than, I'm going to stock to include, which I think will be a big factor in, look, I, I'd, I'd.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: that the romantic in me thinks that in the Anna Old Miss as an national championship would be just a really nice thing.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I can't neither team as one of national championships as I started following college football in the early 1980s.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I get this loads of hurricane fans.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're a high-code fan of and I suspect it will probably be my himmy Oregon.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, in many regards, but I would love it for it to be in the Anna Old Miss, because I just think that would just be just
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: you know, the romantic in me would find that really cool.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it would be a really good game and I'm really excited.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think my real probably just pip it, but I think I'll guess I've got the weapons to do it.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: If the coaching thing can serve me just the way it's been handled in terms of you know Charlie Wise Jr and and and how that's going to work.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of feel like that you know that's been
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the kids, they're just having the fair crack of the whip in terms of knowing who's coaching them and who's not and who's calling the plays and all those sorts of things.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think it's been pretty hard for Pete Golding as well.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think my animal will probably win but in a really good game.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: They're already talking about Simon Charlie Wise, you know, prior to this John Harboss stuff, going to New York as the offensive coordinator for Jackson dark, you know.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, so he recruited him.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_03]: destructions are of any over there I think yeah they got five they got six coaches total going back and forth between Baton Rouge and and and Ole Miss and eventually I think LSU is the one that said look your contract right now so they're they're coaching for free at Ole Miss if they coach this this Thursday at all I think we get clarification on that tomorrow Friday
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_03]: Oregon, Indiana.
- 1:07:15[SPEAKER_03]: I know we saw it once and Indiana kind of dominated.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_03]: They won by 10 in Oregon and if you watch that game that fourth quarter was pretty much taken over by Mendoza and that knee fence.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_03]: Indiana is no if you've watched the work that they've done on the transfer portal.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_03]: They're not going to be a team that's going to go out and get all your five star high school kids.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_03]: They're not going to do that.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_03]: But they are loading up for next year.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_03]: They actually got my favorite wide receiver for 2027 in Nick Marsh, who I think is gonna be an absolute stud.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a first-round graphic, Nick Marsh.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_03]: So they're loading up already.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that they're a lovable underdog.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're the next juggernaut under Kirk's Ignetti.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't be surprised if they're gonna be back here again next year in the semi-final.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: this time on a neutral field.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_03]: I say that they do.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think Indiana wins, but it's going to be much much closer and this game will be in doubt.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_03]: Give me Indiana by a field goal.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_03]: The score I don't know, but Indiana by a field goal, your thoughts crisp.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think beating a team twice hard, beating an organ twice is really hard.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: Um,
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: beating an organ in Oregon, though, is probably the hardest of all.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so this neutral field is going to be better for Indiana than it was going into Oregon and playing them.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_02]: And the twice thing cuts, playing a team twice thing cuts,
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_02]: both ways.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_02]: There were things that Oregon was doing that was especially for probably three quarters of that game that were really frustrating in Indiana and I happen to think that the Indiana coaching staff has some good coaching equity in there and not not
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_02]: not the besmirch, you know, Dan Lanning at all, but you know, I think that it cuts both ways.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just Oregon that's going to come out with a new plan against Indiana.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's also Indiana that's going to come out with a new plan against Oregon.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so neutral field, I would continue to favor Indiana.
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think that overall we're going to get an Indiana Miami for an
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_01]: Not playing a Dome all season Indiana and this is all seen Atlanta for the not not played a way not played in a Dome not played indoors
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, indoors, yeah.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is in Atlanta.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love in the atmosphere.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're sort of an amazing story.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_01]: I love, you know, he's so arrogant and most of me wants to punch you in the face, but at the same time, that's so intriguing.
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I hope in the other wins.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_01]: I really do, you know, Oregon's a good team, good players, just a bit boring for me.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: In the end, I was kind of sexy and cool.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would start like you look at what's happening and then look at what's happening within the aisle at the moment like some of the players that takes his take of time for next season, you know.
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_01]: the face of college football is changing.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_01]: It really is.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: The next few years, I don't think national championships are going to be won necessarily by SCC teams.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you're necessarily going to be won one by those kind of glamour teams at the big ten.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Texas text, the Indiana's.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is where it's going to happen.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think the tipping point, the beginning of this, I'd love for it to be Indiana.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love for it to be Indiana.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be just the
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_01]: just to take down Dan Landing and then take down whoever wins the other semi and just be that would be just the dream.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't follow in the end.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Florida Stateman.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, both of you agree like this is over right.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_03]: There will never be another hot college coach in the NL era going to the NFL.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's over there.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's like there's not enough money.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_03]: There's
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the schools are run like NFL teams.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, you know, every school has got a GM, a Jim Nagy left the senior ball to go to Oklahoma, every school's, you know, with the talk about champ Kelly going to Kentucky and being there GM, every school's got a general manager.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're all being run, you know, like NFL teams, caught about getting four five million a year.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's a perfect, like, cast and back talked about how are you in the facility from
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_01]: from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at night.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you're there to learn, right?
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_01]: You're there to do masks and English and yeah, sure.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, sure.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_03]: Of course.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_03]: There's student athletes, Simon.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_03]: Student.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:12:00[SPEAKER_02]: The last thing the last thing I'll say is, can we can we just all acknowledge that
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Fernando Madoza's dad looks just like Kurt Signetti.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know if I don't know if you can share my or you can pop my screen up, but I shared it on the on the stream stream yard.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_02]: But what is this?
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_02]: For Fernando Madoza and his mom look a lot alike, like he takes after her a lot in the face, right?
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_02]: This is Kurt Signetti.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_02]: This is not Kurt Signetti.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_02]: This is Fernando Madoza's dad.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_02]: Like what is that?
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you got to remember that Fernando Mendoza's dad is an ex-job, okay, former former teammate of Mario Crystal ball at Columbus High.
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_03]: So, so he fancies himself probably a coach as well.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's why he's dressed like Kirk's Ignite.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_03]: He's in, he's in full cosplay.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_03]: That's Kirk's in.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_02]: He was in cosplay.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but yeah, more to that point Marcus Freeman told the New York Giants, that's nice, I'm going right back here to Notre Dame like that's where that's where the profession is headed those are the jobs you want you want a good college job out of major conference
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_03]: those are the jobs.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's where this profession is going.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_03]: There is no more.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_03]: The next time we talk to you is when news breaks.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll talk to you next week.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_03]: Right on schedule once a week.
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_03]: Until draft season when we go again twice a week.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_03]: But till then.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to three yards per caddy.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_00]: You can subscribe via iTunes on pod bean or your usual podcast provider.
- 1:13:42[UNKNOWN]: You
