- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Thanks for having me, Yennis.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Lovely to be here, man.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, good to see you.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: How have you been?
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: I've been well thinking, well, gen just generally in life.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, generally in life, it'd be nice to know.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think I've been alright.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen you.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: Well, last time I saw you, you were here for another podcast, but like it's been a while now.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: It has been a little while.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: That was a few months ago, I think.
- 1:14unknown: Yeah.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: A lot has changed since then.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: We've both got new things.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Um, me, a t-shirt, you a child, you know?
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is the first episode since I've had a child.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: So sorry, can I talk about that?
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: You can just cut this out.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: No, no, of course.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: I thought I've talked about it on other episodes.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's all right then.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: So, you know, um that's that's different and that's new.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: It's new, it's very exciting, it's very exhausting.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: I was saying you upstairs that I'm like extremely exhausted, but like today is like the first day I've kind of had a little bit of sleep.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: So Yeah.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Does that I wonder, like, do you become accustomed to it at all?
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: Like Yeah, you do.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: I'm starting to get used to it.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: Maybe that's what it is, is that I'm starting to get used to it now.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: But like it's been yeah, it's been five weeks now.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: And it's it's crazy.
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: But like I I don't know.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: It was weird because like the first night I remember we did not in the hospital, she didn't sleep at all.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: She was crying the entire night.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: And we were like, I was just like, oh my god, is this what it my life isn't is now?
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Is there a return policy on this?
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Um I don't know.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: And then like the second night, again, like when we when we got home, she was crying again a lot, and then like after that, she just like chilled out for a while.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh, this isn't so bad.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: And then she's just like gradually picked it up again.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: Well, she's picked up the crying again.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: But apparently that happens around like five weeks, is like they start cry that cause they go through a gross spurt, and so they start crying like mad.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: Dude, do you know what?
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, every time I listen to a pi uh a parent talking about having a kid and like you know, there's always this phrase of like, yeah, you know, this happens around five weeks.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this happens around the eight-week period.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, bro, like how is this so mapped out for every baby?
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: I really don't understand, but it's it's it's more like an indication of like where roughly where it will be.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: And then like, so apparently, like somewhere between five to eight weeks, they'll they'll go through this and then they'll ease out of it and they'll get like a regular sleep routine where they can sleep at least like five or six hours.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, oh I can't wait for that.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, fingers crossed, man.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Well, it just depends who you talk to.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: I've got some friends who like they have babies, and the babies like seem to, you know, they get into routines, and sometimes there are times they snap out of the routine, but they'll get back into it.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: And then there's some parents who are like, I can't do this.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I really can't do this.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: I thought there was a routine, but there isn't.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: And you're just like, um, I can't tell if you have a tough baby or you're a bad parent.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: No, there's definitely been days of that where I'm like, I don't know how I don't know how I'm gonna do this.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: And then like, yeah, yesterday I was extremely exhausted, and then like getting her ready for bed, like fed her a last bottle, burping her and everything, pick her up, and then she just like throws up right down my back.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: I'm like, of course, big time.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was like, Yeah, that's that just sums up today.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, one of one of my friends he said he took his newborn to the temple first time he's taken him there, you know.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Not not massively religious, but still it means something to him, you know.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: And uh it was just like absolutely lovely, gorgeous experience.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Everyone, oh cute little baby, baby shits all over him, projectile shit in the temple.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you can't come back from that.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: No, you can't come back from that.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: And he was like really, he was he was like upset.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: He was like upset.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: I was like, you're gonna hold this over your kid forever, aren't you?
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: And your kid, I don't really think has proper consciousness yet.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Like the kid's gonna be like, Dad, like, I honestly, this is on you.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you were in control of everything I did.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: You put on the naffy, you didn't you did everything.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: Meanwhile, he's gonna be like, Do you remember that time you shit on me in the temple?
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: All this trauma is just gonna develop so quick.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: It's so funny.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: Like, it's so funny, like like every time she's crying, and like just for it'll be for no reason, and you're just like, Why?
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: I just want to figure it out, just please.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: I'm trying every single thing.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Nothing makes sense.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: Wave your right hand if you're hungry, wave your left hand if you're tired.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: Come on, just some sort of signal.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: It's like if you're tired, just go to sleep, nobody's stopping you.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: You didn't cry in the womb at all.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: What's this new thing you're doing?
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: Why this is the other thing.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: Like, we've learned that how you're supposed to like what helps as well is playing white noise because that's what it sounds like in the womb.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so like when when they're kind of getting sleepy, you start playing white noise and they just knock out.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Man, so I saw this video on TikTok where it was like this dad, and he put his baby on his like stomach, skin to skin.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: And he was just going, yeah, just like that, right?
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Because it's like that white noise you're talking about.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: It's like vibrations and it's like soothing.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: And the baby would go from crying to just like stop crying, and it would like go to sleep.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: And I've offered to go skin to skin with a lot of my friends' babies, and they just they just won't let me try it.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: Come round.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: This is what I gotta do.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: I gotta get into friends' houses at that sleep deprived.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: You know, these guys are not making sound decisions stage of their life.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Look, if it works, I'll do it.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: Whatever works, please.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: If I can get an hour, such a luxury.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: But it's like everything is napping to you now.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's all napping, it's entirely napping.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: So like I'll go to bed at we don't end up falling asleep until like near on midnight, and then she'll be up at like two, and then four, and then five, and then you're just like, and then you've got to get up.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then you're up, you're just up at five.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: And then you're up at five.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Then do you try and nap during the day as well?
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: I can't.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: I can't, I've got a whole job.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: You got too much work.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: I got I got a full-time job.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: I can't I wish, I mean, I wish I could relate.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: I wish I could relate.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: But uh also, you you're probably nowhere near as poor as I am.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: So, you know, swings and rounds.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Oh no, I guarantee.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: I am I am I am now providing for four four of us.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: So, like four of you, really are.
- 7:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because my my partner's got a child.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh my gosh, man.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: Family life.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, dude.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: It was only about yesterday that I thought you were like 25 years old as well.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: So many people have said that.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you got that, you got those genes.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: Samira Banks said she thought I was 27, and she was like, it's gonna be okay when she thought I'm gonna be.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: No, this is the right age, Janice.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: It's okay, you're you're gonna be okay.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: I've got a family of four.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: What?
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: Nah.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: You'll do a good job, man.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Appreciate it.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, sorry, that felt too sentimental.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the fuck?
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: The way you said thank you there, I was like, oh my god, I think I spoke to his heart.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Needed to hear it.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: No, um, let's let's talk about you though.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: Like, what you what you up to at the moment.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Man, I mean, you know, just trying to be silly for a living.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: And it's going okay.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Sketches are going great.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Thanks, man.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: They're so good.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: Thank you, brother.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: I've I've been focusing more on it this year.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna focus on it like really hard next year.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like it's um, yeah, it's really worked well this year, and also I've do you know, I really love doing sketches, is what I've realized.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: I'm like, this is fun, this is real fun, and just acting in general, also.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've I'm in a Christmas film this year, which is gonna be cool.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Mental.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Um, it's called Finding Father Christmas.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Congratulations, and it's gonna thank you, man.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be on channel four.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Um Christmas Eve 7 pm.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Tune in, please.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Yes, please.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: Um, and I'm I'm in a couple of scenes with James Buckley.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, cool.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Uh Jay from the in between this, for anyone who doesn't know.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: That's I mean, which for me, I was like, what?
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Like how you this is my childhood.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's insane.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we used to go to school all the time, all the time talking about the in-betweenness.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Um it's like so culturally art thick, like it's like it's not culturally, but like uh I no, it is culturally though.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, culturally, but like sort of in the age I think you're like just a little bit younger than me.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: I think.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: I'm 32, yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Okay, so you're yeah, you're like four years younger than me then.
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: Like so that uh yeah, it was so peak time, bro.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Like I was so I was just about to start what year was it?
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: 2008, I think.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was in you I'd just started uni.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: So like you would have been like just you would have been like right around the age of it then.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: Man, yeah, exactly.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: So it's like when they were going to school, we were going to school.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: Like that was the perfect thing about it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: And so like every reference was the in-betweeners, and it just took everything in me when I met him, not to go, ooh, acting for I was like, this guy probably hears this about seven times a day.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: Well, he does the he does those cameos, doesn't he?
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: Have you seen he like makes he does cameo videos and he makes he makes like hundreds of thousands from it or something like that?
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: So I'm sure he does it every day as well.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he probably has a room that he goes into for an hour just doing like a hundred of these, yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: And then just and then comes out and friends, oh you're my friend.
- 10:27SPEAKER_05: Oh, friend, oh, give me 50 pounds for this video, friend.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I would do it.
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, I would absolutely do it.
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: Um for that kind of money he's making.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: I would absolutely do it.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: I don't care.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, forget forget like I don't know, having to think about stuff and create like new and original stuff, which he also does, and I don't know why he does it, because he can just get away with going, oh fucking.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: But he's got a podcast.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Apparently, art is important or something.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: He's got another podcast with um uh Simon.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Does is that a proper podcast?
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a proper podcast.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, I thought like Simon was guesting on his podcast.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: No, it's the two of them together, yeah.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: Wow, yeah, yeah, incredible, incredible.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so um I've I've worked with Simon a couple times on the circuit as well.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, of course, because he's I forget, I always forget that he's on the circuit.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: I've never actually seen him like do his stand-ups.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean he he like he can't he drops in and out, I think.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, basically.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: He has times he wants to and times he doesn't, from what I can understand.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, nice.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, it's really cool.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: And I was like, how mad is that that I've worked with two of the in-betweenists.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you gotta completely dude, yeah.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: This is like, you know, that 16-year-old me is like jumping up and down.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: That must be so strange to like something from your childhood is now like you're part of that with them.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Like it must be so I don't know.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: I remember the first time I met Harry Hill and I was like, holy shit, this is weird.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a dude, yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: You're like, what?
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: You're real.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: I thought you were a concept for TV.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: You just can't, it's hard it's so hard to imagine.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: Like it's it's insane.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: But I yeah, I do find that with this with this industry as well.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: Like, well, more s I guess more so for you now, because you're in the because you're acting as well and everything, but like it's so strange.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: Like, especially yeah, the comedians I grew up watching and everything, like just meeting them for the first time and being like, wow, this is weird.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: Dude, so strange.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you what the strangest one was for me.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: Um okay, so I obviously grew up with Bollywood.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: Same with you?
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: Uh not so much, but I'm like aware, I'm like tangentially aware.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Tangentally something.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: So growing up, you know, in the sort of nineties and noughties, yeah, you had like a few actors who were the goats, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: These actors are coming up in every movie.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: And so there's one actress, her name's Ravena Tandon.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: She was in a bunch of like iconic movies on our TV all the time.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: I did a reel and she liked it.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: And I was like, what do you mean you've seen me do something?
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: Mad.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: And liked it.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: And liked it.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Because I've watched you my like growing up, and now it's like it's just come to this point where I'm like, this is so bizarre.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: But that's I guess social media, right?
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: Like the power of it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: It's so good.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's so good.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: It's insane.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: But like it's now, now I'm starting to have these like bits and bob people popping up.
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I saw another one the other day you posted about what's that?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Hassan Minaj.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Hassan Minaj.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Come on, man.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Hassan.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I loved you.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: It was unbelievable, man.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Like, it was so I remember when he was uh he was trialing the Patriot Act before he'd made it on Netflix.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: Soho Theatre.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: I went to that.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: Did you go?
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, but me too.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: And I remember I was like in the front row.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Me too.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: We were probably right next to each other.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: I don't think we knew each other.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: No, we didn't.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: We wouldn't have known each other back then, but yeah.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: But then, so yeah, so we were there, right?
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: And he was there with like his PowerPoint, and he's like it was so good.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: It was so good.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: Jazz, my wife, she came with me.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: We absolutely loved it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: And um, I was like, oh my god, he looked at me in the face.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: He walked up to me at one point, and like, you know, I've just been a big fan for so long.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: And then for again, for him to like like one of my videos, I'm like, okay, you you you're doing the right thing, like something is going right.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: You're doing something right, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: So it's encouraging and it's wonderful and weird, but like in a best way.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: So sick.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's so cool.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, like what a are you trying to focus on like a specific type of sketch now?
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: Or are you like because I remember back in the day you would do like well not back in the day even, but like you would do like the you would do the Harry Potter stuff, you would do Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I did a couple of Harry Potter bits.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: I did um I did the apprentice stuff quite a lot.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the apprentice ones I remember.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, because there was a like it's weird, like you have to evolve with sketch, you know what I mean?
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Because back in the day it was everything's green screen, everyone loved a green screen sketch, you know?
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Um, and they wanted you to dress up and they wanted all of the so like I would do that, and it was fun, but it was it was effort, it's so much effort.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: I rem I remember in the lockdown I started doing it, I tried a few of them out, and I was just like, even even in the lockdown where I have nothing to do, this is effort.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: If you're giving me unlimited time and I still don't want to do it, that's a sign.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: That's a sign.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: For like a thousand views or something like that.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: I'm like, this is not worth it.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Do you know how much I spent on Amazon for this sketch?
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: Please, for God's sake.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: I'm wearing a suit right now.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: I put a suit on in my own house.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: Do you know how embarrassing that is that I wore a suit to my own house?
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: I've dressed up in the bedroom to walk to the living room.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: That's what I did for you guys.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: Um, and so so people used to like those types of sketch, but now sketch is different, right?
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Very different, yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: So differently changed.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, people want like a different format altogether.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: They just they want you to act out of scenarios, but yeah, you know, they definitely don't want green screen.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: They want you to just be in your house like doing this kind of thing just randomly.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Um I've still have like a good sketch, good writing, good acting, all that kind of stuff.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: But yeah, the format and stuff has changed a bit.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: But admittedly, like I like whatever the format is now.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: It's fun, yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: I I do really enjoy it because it I think it's more open to you can do different things and like I feel like you can do whatever, kind of do what whatever and have fun with it, and you're not like stuck to a certain thing now.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: And so I'm just trying to like to be honest, man, I'm just trying to experiment.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: I'm just trying to like see what works.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: You know, your Trump ones are doing really well.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, the Trump ones are doing well.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: That's crazy, man, the Trump stuff.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Because honestly, I you know, because I started in improv.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: I did characters and stuff all the time, and with stand up, I got really obsessed with like the writing process.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I really stopped doing so many characters and impressions and accents.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: And this year I was like, you know, you need to go back to that, you need to do more of that.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: Because why would you not?
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: Like it's a great performance hack almost.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Like, if you have the ability, why would you not do it?
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: And so I started doing it a bit more, and you know, um because it's naturally what I do, especially with my friends.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: Like, I just you know, I do voices and imitations and things like this.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: And I'm not saying they're the best, I'm just saying, but but they're they're meant to be funny, right?
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: And so I was sitting um next to my mum watching the TV at one point, and Trump was on, I was annoyed at him, and so I did the thing where I imitated him, yeah, and mum cracked up.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: She was like, That's how you know, mate.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: She was like, You should do you should do that as a video.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: And I was like, No, listen, mum, it's not a good impression.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: I know comedy, I know comedy, I know what I know what does well.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: I'm actually a student of the game, you'll find mother.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, and this will not fly whatsoever.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: And so she was like, No, you've got to, you've got to do this.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Mum, no, it's the internet likes good impressions.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: This is just a silly impression.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: And she was like, No, you should.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: And I I thought, just leave it out, you know what I mean?
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: Whatever.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: But then a few weeks later, I was like, okay, I should put a video out, and I'm not really feeling that motivated.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: I don't really know what to put out.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Ah, screw it, I'll just do the Trump thing.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: And so I wrote a couple bits, I wrote like two videos and I filmed them.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: I put one out and then I put another one out a couple of days later, and then we were going on holiday.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: And we were going on holiday to Thailand.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: When I landed in Thailand, my phone was like going crazy.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: I was like, what?
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: And like, yeah, this thing had completely taken off.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: Mad.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: And long story short, my mum's my social media manager.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you're hired.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: She's she's got a content list.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Try this.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: She's like, come on, it's Wednesday, why haven't you posted?
- 18:40SPEAKER_04: I'm trying.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm at Yannis' house putting his baby to bed.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: Give me some time.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, so so like it just sort of taught me that like I was so self-conscious about it, yeah, which is why I didn't do it.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: And um, it just sort of taught me like, oh, whatever, just do it.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: You don't know.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: If it if it doesn't go well, then it doesn't go well, people haven't seen it, so it doesn't matter.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter, yeah, exactly.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: And also, like, we're living this age now that I really like where people are starting to embrace the whole like if people think something's cringe, then that's their problem.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: I'm glad about that now.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: I'm glad.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: It's great because I'm like, okay, good, I can try something or other, you know what I mean?
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: But uh but honestly, being on the comedy circuit, you sort of You grow thick skin.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you grow thick skin, and you sort of like I had already internalized this in terms of open mic or uh when I was coming up, or in that one, you know, in terms of new material nights now where it's like, oh mate, like all these ideas are not going to work.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like you're gonna do some stuff which you think is hilarious, and no one else thinks it's hilarious, and you'll find out on the night.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: So why not just treat you know reels in the same way?
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: Because like, you know, you could come up with a rule that's like an incredible idea that everyone really likes.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: So it's worth doing it just for that.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: And I think like you must have figured that you must have found that with improv as well, where it's like, because you're just throwing ideas at the wall and it's just like they're gonna they're gone after that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: It doesn't matter, like it doesn't really if it doesn't stick, it doesn't stick.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: And then like that I f I did find that when I did improv back in like years and years ago, it was like I I was so scared for the longest time, even just doing improv.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: And then I realized it doesn't matter and like the ideas will go come and go.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Did that and it was absolutely fine.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: Then I started doing stand-up and I was like, oh I'm nervous again.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah and it took me it took me time to get out of that of like just throw ideas, just see what works, what doesn't work, doesn't matter.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: It's something called like from what I hear, like the spotlight effect, yeah, where we just think that everything's about us.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because we think we're the center of the universe, because we are us, right?
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: But the truth is like you know, even if you go out and you bomb or whatever, people they don't really give a shit.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: And even if they're talking about it, like a week later they've ab they've completely forgotten about your existence, you know what I mean?
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: And so like no one really cares what you're doing.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: So just go do do live your life and do whatever you want.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Exactly, yeah.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: This has been my motivational speech.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: For more of these, uh follow dammon.bamra on Instagram.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Um I won't be doing anything.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, slash motivation, yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the page is empty at the moment.
- 21:27SPEAKER_03: It's like it makes me think of like um must have must have a yes in fitness.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's so good, man.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: So good, so good.
- 21:34SPEAKER_03: He's just always like, it's not a fitness page.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: I just can't change it.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: It's a lot of attraction.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: If I say it enough, it will happen.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, man.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: But I've I've come very well prepared, I must say.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Oh great.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: I'm glad.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you've come on to talk about um Rush Hour 2, which I'm so excited.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Because I I've had this I've been doing this podcast for five years.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Five years now.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: I've had this I've had Rush Hour 2 on the list of things that I've been sending people.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: So I didn't even have to send you it.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: It's been on the list of what I send people.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: Of like, you could do this one, you could do this one.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: They've never picked it.
- 22:11SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, how has nobody ever picked this movie?
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: Because it's it is a classic.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Rush Hour Two is my favorite movie of all time.
- 22:18unknown: Yeah.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: It really is.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying it's the best movie of all time.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: There is a distinction.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: But it's my favorite movie of all.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: I can understand.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I can completely understand that.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: It's like it goes back to the like, I know you've spoken about this a few times, but it goes back to the nostalgia thing.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: Like I had it, I watched it relentlessly as a kid.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, me too.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: And also, I'd never seen Rush Hour 1 at that point.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: I'd never seen Rush Hour 1.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: So you watched two first and then you but you kept watching it without watching.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: I just kept watching Rush Hour Tony on repeat.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: So there's like probably there's like you know, there's that bit of context at the start of whatever happens at the end of Rush Hour One, and then the you know, and then now they're in Hong Kong.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Um but I I'm I was sort of like, uh all right, well, these two guys, I guess they know each other and they're on the way to karaoke.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: And that's just how the whole thing starts, right?
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: And um, it's just look, I understand it's the humor, it cannot be replicated today.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: No, okay, but yeah, absolutely fine.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: I I'm with you.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Context, this is 2001.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: It's 2001.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: Is this 2001?
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Times were different.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: Times were different, people were openly racist, people were they were dogs, they were open, they were just openly perverse all the time.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: It was they are disgusting, specifically Chris Tucker.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Chris Tucker is a fucking dog.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure if he ever helped Jackie Chan out in the film either.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Come on, Lee! He's just like, come on, Lee, where are we going to see some girls?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Like, it's like, bro, you're you're a police officer, man.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Like, but all like watching a woman crying change for all killers.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: It's so funny when they're both like, oh, Snoopy, Snoopy, I love Snoopy.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: Because she's got like some Snoopy tattoo.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: And like, and like they're literally zooming in on her body so hard that they can see her Snoopy tattoo.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: And like, it yeah, it's just it's hilarious.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: It's mad.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: It's so bad.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: It's so bad.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: No, but the worst, the worst perversion, I think, in in the rush hour so far, yeah, is what's the because uh what's the name of the girl that gets kidnapped in the first one?
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: Oh I can't remember.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, but basically, she's like the ambassador's daughter or something, right?
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: And she's like 12 or something, right?
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Anyway, and the rush hour rush hour two happens.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Alright, fine.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: Then we get to rush hour three.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Okay, now she's grown up.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: This is context.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: This is not only nine years later.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: This is nine years after the first one.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Nine years after the first one, right?
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: So she'll be 21 then or something.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, she'll be.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Something like that.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Something like that.
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: 21 uh at best, yeah.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: She'll be 21.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: Hopefully not young enough.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: Jackie Tucker's probably 40.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Jackie Chan's about 60 at this point.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Jackie Chan's really taking his will seriously at this point in his life, right?
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: He's he's signed over the power of attorney, like he's coming towards the end.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: Um, Chris Tucker, honestly, should have retired ages ago.
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: Anyway, so now they're and now they're now they're like um, I don't know, back in America, and they meet this girl after years and years and years, and like she comes and says hello, gives them a hug or whatever.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: And Chris Tucker is like, damn, she got breasts, and I'm just like, bro, this is so bad.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: It's so creepy.
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: Well, you know what else about number three?
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: It's really problematic.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: They got Roman Polanski in the movie.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, it isn't like the director of Rosh Altwo Brett Ratner or something.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: He's the he's he's the director of all of them.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: Is he the director of all of them?
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, there you go.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: And isn't he like Yeah, he's like he's barely done anything since because of stuff that's happened with him.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: So yeah, like there you go.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: You want to talk about Chris Chris Tucker as well, if you really want to get into it.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: Chris Sucker, has he been?
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: No, so there's on the Epstein flight log.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: No with Clinton and Spacey.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 26:33SPEAKER_03: Listen, yeah, we just can't have good things going.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: They're just like, oh no, it was completely legitimate.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: There were the three of them were going to do to uh some charity aids thing.
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, on the island, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: They're on Epstein's flight with with with uh Bill Clinton and Kevin Spacey.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that seems legit.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: They were going for charity things.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: Three great great guys on their way to on the way to donate some money to something.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I mean look, I can believe it.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: I can believe it.
- 27:07SPEAKER_02: It's oh that's I mean, and then also, but then also Jackie Chan as well, right?
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: Jackie Chan is he's supposed to be like like not a nice guy, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: Like he's because it's his daughter, isn't it?
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: Well, one of I'm not sure who, but like one of his kids is estranged for sure.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: But because he's like had a kid with somebody, but then was like, um nah.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, is that what it was?
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: I don't fancy being your dad.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: And like uh, yeah, and just like has not given this kid any money, like has not given him any, like, but not even acknowledged like I'm your father.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: Or like if they if and especially like you know, this kid has obviously had a difficult childhood, acted out a few times, yeah, and Jackie Chan's just been like, I'm so ashamed, like I'm just so not I and like yeah, and like this I I know he's got some like strange political views as well.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and um man, it's just always like you know, people there used to be this debate art versus artists, yeah.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Uh and nowadays I'm so much like, oh man, I just want to just art, art, because if I look at the artist, there's no there's no one, there's no one, yeah.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: I'm like, at his old stuff, it's like there's no one.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: I know, man.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: It's uh man, it's so tough.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: It's like even Harry Potter.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: I love Harry Potter.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: I'm like, why do you have to go and do all these things, JK Rowling?
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Like, just shut up.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: Just shut up and let me have Dumbledore.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: How hard can it be, man?
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Do you shut your fucking mouth?
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: That's uh there's the there's a spell for you.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: Please.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: At least the kids are fine.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: At least the at least the actual actors are like at least at least they're good for you.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: They're like all beefing now as well.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: So I I yeah, we're just formally acknowledging.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: We know all these people are terrible people.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but rush out to sort of fights for funny.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: It's a c it's a it's a classic.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: It's like classic.
- 29:01SPEAKER_03: If you were if you were a teenager or like around that sort of age when this came out, it was so perfect.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: I was 12 years old, I was the perfect age for it.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: I I'd I'd seen Rush Out, I'd seen the original one, I was like so excited for this one.
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: And it I think this is better than the first.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: Shall I tell you what's mad?
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: I think they're making Rush Out 4.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: I've I've been hearing that for years.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: It just got announced like like a few weeks ago.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Wow, perfect timing.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: This is why you didn't hear about it because you because of your newborn.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: But you would have heard about it otherwise, probably.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, it's like I it's like official apparently.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: And like, so now they're I don't know who's making it.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: It's not gonna be Brett Ratner.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: So I wonder like what on earth they are even gonna do in this.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: I don't know, because yeah, they've looking at both of them lately, I'm like, can you can you do action movies?
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know, yeah.
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: Isn't Jackie Chan like 70 something?
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: He's got to be.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: He's got to be, man.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, look, I grew up like my dad loved martial arts movies greatly.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: 71, there you go.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: And so yeah, watched so much Jackie growing up.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: And um just martial arts movie in general.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: Uh Crouching Tiger Hidden Hidden Dragon.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was kind of like my intro into it.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: Crouching Tiger Rude.
- 30:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, Crashing Tiger, well, maybe Enter the Dragon and then like Crouching Tiger.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: Enter the Dragon was a madness too, yeah.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: Classics.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen these in so long.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: I know, I haven't I haven't either.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, they're so class.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: And then I then I'd start watching all the uh like the the actual like you go back and you watch the the actual Hong Kong martial arts movies.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Like they're unre unreal.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, unreal.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: And I like how like you know like we watch them from all different countries too.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Like Hitman.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so good.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: So so good.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: And the raid.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: I know that was more contemporary.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, it's like so good though.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: But it's unbelievable.
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: Unreal.
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: Um it's like Indonesian, I think.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Um all the Tony Jar stuff.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: All the Tony Jar stuff exactly.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Ongback, right?
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: Ongback, yeah, Ongback was great.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: Man.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Just just unbelievable, man.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: And you just don't really hear about them now.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: I feel like you don't really get No, it doesn't really, I don't feel like they really get made, or if they do, they certainly haven't hit like our media sphere.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: I feel like every few years there was like a big one up until about 10 years ago, and now you don't really get them, and I don't know what happened.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: It's a shame.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: We need to bring them back.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: There will be a resurgence at some point.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: No, of course, yeah, yeah.
- 31:40SPEAKER_02: People love martial arts.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, man.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Don't you exit those movies just being like, I can mess anyone up.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: Everybody, someone try it with me.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna run up that banister, define gravity, and do like a roundhouse kick in your face, mate.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: And then two days later you're like, my back hurts from sitting down.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: I stood up wrong.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: But this is the thing I was thinking watching this one as well, and I was like, I was like, for all his faults and everything, Brett Nat Brett Ratner is an excellent action director.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: And like there's so many great set pieces in this movie where that where it's like you do not get this kind of like you don't get this kind of stuff anymore.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: And I don't know if it's like an insurance like the only kind of person you'll kind of get like these stunts, like a big stunts and everything from is Tom Cruise, but like other than that, nothing feels like when they're hanging from the bamboo and stuff, and like Jackie Chan is running up.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: So good.
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: I would kill for stuff like that now.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: Even the technique, the technique of him running up, the way he's just like kicks off one bit to the other bit to the other bit.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: I'm like, do you know how gangster that is?
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: Just that just that little five-second clip of like the way he starts, he like makes a head start on that bamboo.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: I'm like, every little detail like that is so good.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: Man, he but like to to have like an action director who knows what they're doing mixed with Jackie Chan.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, is just the perfect absolutely yeah, just the perfect Jackie Chan had this other mad film called um The Tuxedo.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I remember.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Did you see that?
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or that was not a good movie.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: It's not a good movie.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: That's what I remember from it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, not a great movie, but again, one I was like, one I enjoyed watching because of Jackie Chan.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: I mean it's just fun.
- 33:26SPEAKER_02: It's just fun, it's just and also back, you know, we didn't have the concept of something like an Apple Watch, right?
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: It was literally a watch like this, and he was just like, and it would just he would just choose like okay, um, singing mode, and then he would just put enter.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Is that what it was that with the premise?
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: It was on the watch.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was on it was all controlled by the watch.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: Oh so he could just like I thought it was to do with the tuxedo itself.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: No, it is the tuxedo itself.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, but he control it.
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, I got you, okay.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: So like somehow, I don't understand what they thought the physics of this was, but like you can you can there's a scene where James Brown was singing, and like and they like and then he like gets knocked out or something, and then Jackie Chan comes in, he chooses singing mode, and then he's literally singing in James Brown's voice.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: That's so funny because he's wearing a tuxedo.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: That's so funny imagine like seeing Jackie Chan sing in James Brown's voice.
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: He said, like, get up bug, get on up, like album that I would love to hear Jackie Chan actually try and sing that and just see what he sounds like.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: It's so funny, but they're just stupid all these stupid ass films are just so they're so entertaining.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: I love them, I love them so much.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: Like I don't know, I I really miss these buddy cop movies as well.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: I miss them.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: Like I feel like again, I I I the mid-budget action movie, or like the mid-budget movie in general has gone now.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: But like these buddy cop comedy action movies were like so of the time, and like so they would cost like 30 million and they would go on to gross like 300 million every time.
- 35:01SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 35:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, unbelievable.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: That's why there's so many sequels.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: I read something about this was like the like this broke records for like the biggest box office sequel of all time at one point.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Like on like opening weekend or something like that.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: At the time, it like broke records for like how big it was.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it was only surpassed by I think like I think it said the Born, one of the Bourne films or something like that.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: Right, the Born Supremacy.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, something like that.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: But it took like for years it was like the number one opening weekend.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: That's insane.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: That is absolutely insane.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: Which, like, also I guess is a testament to how good Rush Hour One was.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: If that many people wanted to go and see the second one.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: Although I will say, maybe it's just because my nostalgia is attached to Rush Hour Two.
- 35:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: But like I watched Rush Hour One, I was like, this is okay.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: This is okay.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: Like I enjoy it, it's okay.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: But Rush Hour 2 is where it's at.
- 35:57SPEAKER_03: There is something about the number two that's I don't know what it is, but I think it might be the nostalgia as well, like you're saying.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: But like I I don't know, it's more fun to me.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: It's so much more fun, it's so much more fun, man.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: Like, even like, you know, like we were saying, like the open racism, like like how um that's not that's not that that's not fun, okay?
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: But it was fun to watch.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I just really enjoyed I really enjoy the racism.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: The racism was really what really you know just did it for me.
- 36:27SPEAKER_03: I got such nostalgia for it.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: I've just gotten oh man, do you remember when we could just be openly racist?
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, the naughs.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Um but that but just like the stupidity, just to see that kind of stupidity.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: Um they he the joke is as well.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: I will say the joke is on the person saying it as well.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Like Chris Tucker is made to look the fool.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's he's constantly looking a fool.
- 36:54SPEAKER_02: Like when he goes, like when they go to the karaoke and he's like uh he's singing, right?
- 36:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's what's he singing as well, yeah.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: Don't stop doing it, you know.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: Great choice again.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: Just yeah, they they must have had a meeting on the plane, I guess.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: This is the song we're going with, right?
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: Um and um and then he like then he just decides to like he decides to do this announcement where he literally makes up syllables to do Mandarin, to like speak in Mandarin.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: And then and then yeah, and then he goes, uh Jackie, what did I say?
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: And Jackie's like, uh, you just said you wanted to get naked, bend over and sacrifice a goat.
- 37:46SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, that's just again, it's just so disrespectful.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: You can't just make up, you can't just make up syllables and then go, no, no, no, that was Mandarin.
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: And what you said was an incredibly disrespectful thing.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: Like, and that would just happen through the film all the time.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: It was just so stupid.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: He's always just like, nobody understands you, nobody understands you.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you all the time.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: And like what they would do to try and make up for that uh back back and forth racism was they would give they would give Jackie a couple of lines to be like, uh, yeah, yeah, Carter, I'm gonna, I'm gonna kick your black ass or something like that.
- 38:31SPEAKER_02: Just something a lot like just something where you're just like that well, that's not nice.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: But like Chris Tucker's was like, no, this is like this is the mad racism.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: It's so funny.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: It was, yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: It's uh it's I I also read where it was I gotta find this exact because I want to get this completely correct.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's not even the thing I was gonna say, but it grossed 67 million opening weekend.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: That's insane, man.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: That's crazy, and especially by like 2001 standards.
- 39:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like 67 million.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: Today is a little bit more than a million.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Man, imagine a imagine like a sequel like just a like a a small action a smallish action movie making a hundred million on opening weekend now.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: Would never happen.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: Um Chris Tucker's trivia.
- 39:29SPEAKER_03: Basically, it's the amount that he made for the rush out movies.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: Uh, because he was offered a deal.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, so this is another thing.
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: Chris Tucker from 1998 to 2007, he only appeared in three movies, and they were the three rush hour movies.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: Wait, from when to when?
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: 97.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: 98 to 2007.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: 98 to 2007.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: He only appeared in three movies and they were just the rush hour movies.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, imagine because you made so much money, he's just like, well, I don't need to work.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: So he signed so after the first rush hour, he signed a two-picture,$45 million deal.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Um and the two movies that he made were Rush Hour Two and Rush Hour Three.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: That's insane.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: In 1999, he signed a$45 million deal.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: That's absolutely off the back of Rush Hour.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: That's absolutely crazy.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: But Chris Stucker, a man that nobody would call an actor.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: Let's be honest.
- 40:25SPEAKER_02: Come on, so like I'm no disrespect, Chris.
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: But it's like he was he was a he was a stand-up, right?
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: He's a stand-up.
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: He was known for his stand-up and then for Friday.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: Like he had his breakout role in Friday, yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Which was a small role, you know, and then he went on to do like a couple of other small parts, and then he was in right rush hour and like made 45 million after that.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, imagine exactly.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: Like I he was funny, don't get me wrong, but like 45 million for two movies.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: Come on, man.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: Like, even now, even now, if you like all of these massive comics that do you know, Gervais and Chappelle and all these people that do Netflix specials, they get paid like 20 million dollars.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which is a huge already huge deal, crazy, yeah.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Um and like and that's by today's standard, right?
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: Which back then would be like I don't know, eleven or twelve million, maybe, maybe even less.
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: Inflation has obviously gone through the roof through all of those years, but yeah, so imagine it's crazy over twenty million dollars per movie.
- 41:37SPEAKER_02: After making only three in ten years, pretty much.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: And and they were the rush-hour movies.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: They were the rush hour movies.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: And since then, he's only been in three movies.
- 41:49SPEAKER_03: He's been in Silver Linning's Playbook, Billy Lynn's Long Time Long Halftime Walk, and Air.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Has anyone heard of any of those movies?
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: I've seen Silver Linning's playbook and I've seen Air, but I've not seen Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: But I feel like you're into movies also, which is why you've seen those movies.
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that is why, yeah.
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: Air's interesting.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Air's actually a really good movie about um like uh Nike making Air Jordans.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: Uh how how that came about.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Okay, that is for some reason he's in it.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: What's what does he what role could he possibly playing?
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: I can't even I feel like he's a lawyer in it or something.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: No, he's not a lawyer.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: It's something around Really It's something around those.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: That's insane.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: Howard White Howard White.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: See, I want I really want to do an impression of him, but I don't know how to do Chris Tucker without doing like a racist quote.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: Okay, so no, sorry, he wasn't a lawyer, he was the senior vice president of of Jordan's.
- 42:52SPEAKER_03: Okay, my mistake.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: Okay, it's been a few years ago.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: Still like a big corporate guy.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: It was a corporate role, that's what I'm remembering.
- 43:00SPEAKER_03: Silverlining's playbook, he's just like the best friend of Bradley Cooper.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: And it's just like, okay, why why are you in this?
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: Why does Bradley Cooper love to do that?
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: He Bradley Cooper brings in what Yeah, he did Chappelle, didn't he?
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: In um Star was Born.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: That was a strange role as well.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, really odd.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: Just weird.
- 43:23SPEAKER_02: Just like this wise mentor figure, which I'm like, I get Chappelle's trying to do trying to do that, not successfully at the moment.
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: I must say.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: Um in his stand-up.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: But like to bring him in.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: Now I'm now I'm like, what is he even doing?
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: Man.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there was a point in time where like he got that huge deal, didn't he, for Chappelle's show?
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: Like the like was it fifty million?
- 43:52SPEAKER_03: Something like that, man.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:54SPEAKER_03: But even that was just like that was for like multiple seasons of Chappelle's show.
- 43:57SPEAKER_03: So that made m even that made more sense than getting the 45 for two films.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: For two films, yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, you're just acting in the show was like the biggest thing at the time.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: It was the biggest thing, and he had to write them too.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: Like he had to l literally make the whole thing.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: Well, if I don't know how Chris Tucker managed to get that deal.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: I really don't understand.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: He must have had the best agent in the world.
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: Maybe these things transcend cinema in a way that we're not like understanding.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: It must have been the maddest thing ever.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: It must have been like rented out across like Blockbuster and stuff.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: Oh, it was, yeah.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: All the time.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: I remember it being such a big thing in Blockbuster at the time as well.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: Because I used to go, that's again, I used to like go around that time constantly to Blockbuster.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: I was like getting.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Isn't it mad?
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Like when you think about it now, like it's like if I'm watching this movie, but you then you're not watching it.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, I've got the movie.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: Like, isn't that insane?
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: I'm going out to get this movie now as well.
- 44:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's yeah.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: If like they might have it, they might not.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: I really hope they have it.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: And it was even worse for me because we didn't have a blockbuster in Wembley.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: We had a place called Tip Top Video.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: Tip Top Video.
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: Tip Top Video, okay.
- 45:14SPEAKER_02: Next to Ealing Road Library.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: And uh we would we would just and that I'm trying I was trying to think back to the economics of this.
- 45:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: Like, what are you paying?
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: Like six, seven quid or something.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: No, I remember to rent or do you remember how much?
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: So I remember sort of towards the end of it, I remember it being three pounds.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: Three pounds.
- 45:36SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's well cheap then.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: And but I remember that was for the new ones, and then you could get an old release for a pound and you could keep it for a week.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: That would be I'd take that now.
- 45:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I would take that.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: I'd take the ideal right now.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: Instead of like paying a hundred million pounds for Netflix and Amazon and Paramount and like if you want to rent a movie online now or anything like that, it's like£20.
- 46:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: Sorry, why is this not mine forever after I've paid£20 for I've seen I saw like I remember last year when Wicked came out and they were doing like an early promotion to watch it on Sky, and it was like 20, I think it was£25 or something to rent it for three days or whatever it was.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: Or you have like insane.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:21SPEAKER_02: That's absolutely insane.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: Listen, guys, I'm I want to address you directly.
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: Piracy is gonna come back.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: It's gonna come back in a big way.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: It's gonna come back in a big way if if we don't like now everything is subscription based.
- 46:35SPEAKER_03: Well, like its course is gonna come back.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: Mate, everything is subscription, but you can't have anything without a subscription.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: No, like whether it's um like even if I you like okay, I've got like a captions app, for example.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I have a captions app as well.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: I have to subscribe to that.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like 50 quid a year.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: I'm like, do I have to pay yearly or monthly for absolutely everything?
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: Can I not just have something?
- 46:56SPEAKER_02: What happened to having stuff?
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I just want something that's mine after I've paid for it.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, is that too much to ask?
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: Do I have to return these clothes after a year?
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: Like, I I bet that's gonna happen now.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, I've spoken into the world.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: That's gonna happen.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: You're gonna go in that far.
- 47:11SPEAKER_02: You're gonna get in here.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: Edit that bit out.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: It's yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous, man.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: But the worst thing about it is like the thing I hear is like obviously all of these places they're licensing all of this media.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: So they've got access to it for a certain amount of time.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: So you could be like, you know, rush out to I want to buy it.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: So£20, okay, fine, it's yours.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: But then some shit happens, they lose the license to it, and now it's gone.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Now it's gone.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: And you've got nothing to show you.
- 47:41SPEAKER_03: But apparently it's in the fine print that you could you don't actually own it.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: You just like you're technically renting it.
- 47:46SPEAKER_02: You're just renting it for like however long they have it.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, which is crazy.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: I hate it.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I hate it as well.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: Like a blockbuster bag.
- 47:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:54SPEAKER_03: Do you remember like I I don't even know if you remember this because like it might have been before your time as well.
- 47:58SPEAKER_03: But like when when so I have to use Adobe for everything now.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: Didn't used to be subscription based.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: You used to just own it.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: I remember like CS6 or whatever, and you just have this.
- 48:11SPEAKER_02: You just had it.
- 48:11SPEAKER_02: You just had it.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 48:13SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: It costs a lot.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: It costs a lot, but it costs a lot.
- 48:16SPEAKER_02: At least you can have it.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: But realistically, it only it only costs probably like two or three months worth of like what you would what you're subscribing to now.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: It's ridiculous.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 48:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's absolutely ridiculous.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: You know what this podcast is?
- 48:30SPEAKER_02: This podcast is a bit about Rosh Al too, and it's like mostly like old guys talking about how back in my day.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: Back in my day, things were better.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: And also, we're just naming everyone we used to like who like all of our heroes that have fallen from grace.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: Like, oh, do you remember Chappelle?
- 48:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's not doing greater than ever.
- 48:52SPEAKER_02: What about Chris Tucker?
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, I don't know about that guy.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: What's the your thirty thing?
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: But it is a shame because like these are the people that kind of got me into comedy as well.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: Like these are the this is where I learned all this stuff.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: And this is like again, comedy I'd say, like, yeah.
- 49:07SPEAKER_03: I'd say Rush Hour 2 was a big intro into it's it's crazy to say, but like Rush Hour Two is a big intro into like my world of like, oh, this is what I'm enjoying like different kinds of movies now as well.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: And like I'm learning about so like because you go from this and then you go, okay, well, what else is Chris Tucker in?
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: What else is Jackie Chan in?
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: And then you like start watching all of these other things that that they're in, and then you start learning about all of these other styles of movies and everything.
- 49:32SPEAKER_03: Like I watched I remember watching Jackie Brown because Chris Tucker was in that.
- 49:36SPEAKER_03: And got you, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: And being like, wow, okay, this is Tarantino.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: And then See, that's what got him to 45 million.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: There, there you go.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: He you were watching stuff that he was in because he was in the scene.
- 49:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: He's in one scene at the start.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: Jackie Brown could also be a different name for the Rush Ar films.
- 50:06SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's the best thing I'm gonna come out with all day.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: It's done.
- 50:11SPEAKER_04: There's a clip.
- 50:16SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 50:17SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen it.
- 50:19SPEAKER_03: Great movie.
- 50:20SPEAKER_03: Is it movie?
- 50:20SPEAKER_03: Is it Tarantino's best movie?
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:24SPEAKER_03: I stand by that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I didn't get Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: I didn't get it.
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: I didn't like it.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: Is that highly rated?
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: Fucking hated it.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: I I I honestly, yeah.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: I really didn't I was like, what's this about?
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: I don't understand what this thing is.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: So self-indulgent.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was really because like there was a few.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: There was like what uh The Hate for Late?
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: That's Tarantino, right?
- 50:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I didn't like that either.
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: You didn't like that?
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: No.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: I found it boring.
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, fair enough.
- 50:56SPEAKER_03: I haven't liked his last three movies.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: I d I've gotta say I did enjoy that one.
- 51:00SPEAKER_02: But because because I can understand enjoying it.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: I just it was not for me.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: No, so fair.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: So fair.
- 51:06SPEAKER_02: Reservoir Dogs, that's Tarantino, right?
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: That was that was a good bit.
- 51:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: That was a good bit.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: But that was like pretty that's pretty old.
- 51:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:16SPEAKER_02: That was his first movie?
- 51:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:17unknown: Oh.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: Isn't that wild?
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that at all.
- 51:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:21SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: Super low budget.
- 51:23SPEAKER_02: What about Inglorious Bastards?
- 51:26SPEAKER_02: Did you not like that?
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: Oh I really like Inglorious Bastards.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was good.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: That was the last thing I was like.
- 51:29SPEAKER_03: Oh no, actually I like Django as well.
- 51:31SPEAKER_03: So Django's probably the last one I liked.
- 51:33SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: And Django, yeah, Django was good as well.
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: What what what are his ones after Django?
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: Uh it'll be Haiful A.
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: Haiful A was after Django?
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:43SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 51:44SPEAKER_03: It might be It might just be Haiful A and and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: Let me because he's only he's only made nine movies.
- 51:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:53SPEAKER_02: Tarantino, another really questionable guy.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: Have you seen the H-Questionable is such a generous term as well?
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: Have you been seen the stuff in the last couple of weeks with him?
- 52:00SPEAKER_03: Where it's like, it's not cancelable stuff, it's just being a dick.
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: Being a dick is a Paul Dano.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: For what?
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: For no reason.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: I don't get it.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: Django to the Hateful Eight to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so there you go.
- 52:17SPEAKER_02: So Django, um Django was good.
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: Hateful Eight.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: You like it?
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: I liked it at least.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: 50% success rate on this podcast.
- 52:26SPEAKER_02: And then like, yeah.
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: And then Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: Which I just didn't get at all.
- 52:34SPEAKER_03: I didn't I didn't get it as well.
- 52:35SPEAKER_03: And also like really offensive for his leading it.
- 52:39SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, yes.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but but this again, Tarantino.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: Tarantino's just like he's hasn't he like got like weird like foot fetish or something.
- 52:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:51SPEAKER_02: Um and then he just like always like makes sure there's a bunch of feet in his films and stuff.
- 52:56SPEAKER_02: But it's no guys, this is art, no, like get your feet out.
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: No, it's important to the scene.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like once you know about it and you watch his movies, you're like, wow, it is so prevalent in these movies.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: It's so it's everywhere.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: And then he always finds a way to cameo and to and make sure he says the N-word at least once.
- 53:13SPEAKER_02: No, guys, it's art.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: It's art.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: Just like the feet thing.
- 53:16SPEAKER_02: Well, this is the thing.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: He was like shitting on Paul Dano for his acting, and it's like, sorry, have you seen yourself in movies?
- 53:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:23SPEAKER_03: Did you see your Australian did you hear your Australian accent in in Django?
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Oh man, I can't even remember that to be fair.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: It's been so long since I've seen Django.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: But I am absolutely certain it was awful.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: It was it's it's horrendous.
- 53:37SPEAKER_02: It's so bad.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: But I think the worst attempt at an accent I've ever heard in a movie is uh Ray Winston in The Departed.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's not good.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a bad accent.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 53:50SPEAKER_02: He's trying to do like a Brooklyn or whatever.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: But it's just Cockney.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: Have you seen it's a video that goes viral every like once every like maybe once a year or something, but it's Al Pacino in Cockney doing a Cockney accent.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: Cockney accent, yeah.
- 54:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: I I couldn't even attempt whatever, whatever that sound is.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is.
- 54:11SPEAKER_02: I don't know how it got made.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so we're going down the road.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: No, see, that's too that's too good.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: It's too good.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: It's too good.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: We're going down the road.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: I can't even do it.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know what to do.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: It's so strange.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: I will throw I'll throw up a clip of it.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: So I went in and I shelled out 10 shillings on her mosa of salesden and the other door.
- 54:35SPEAKER_00: I come back outside again.
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: See how the baton was going.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: Himosa of Salisden is ten to one.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: Down the woman.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: Instilled fate in me.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: Anyway, fan fans blue, they brought them out.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: This fellow I went with said, There's yours.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: There's your dog, Hermosa of Salesden.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: So I looked at it.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: I swear to God, right?
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: I looked back again.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: They linked into four teams.
- 55:14SPEAKER_00: I thought everyone has gone mad.
- 55:17SPEAKER_00: I said, everyone has gone mad.
- 55:19SPEAKER_02: He and he saw some weird, he says some phrase like throw it, throw to the dogs.
- 55:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:24SPEAKER_02: Like something like that at some point.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I don't understand the whole vision of what you guys think Cockney is.
- 55:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:32SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 55:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: And it was such a long monologue.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: It's so long, yeah.
- 55:37SPEAKER_02: I'm like, why did you if you gave him like three sentences and then let someone else say something?
- 55:44SPEAKER_02: Maybe he could have stayed in some sort of it was possible to say within the realm of Cockney.
- 55:49SPEAKER_02: But this, he was off the hinges from the off.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: It's so funny.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: It's I love it.
- 55:53SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: I love it when people do.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: I love that kind of stuff.
- 55:57SPEAKER_03: It's so it just makes me laugh so much because I'm like, how did this go so far?
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: How did no one step in?
- 56:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, literally, they thought, yeah, we've got it.
- 56:06SPEAKER_02: We've got it, guys.
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: Let's rap.
- 56:08SPEAKER_02: That's going out in the cinema.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: Or Brad Pitt doing his Jamaican accent.
- 56:15SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: Brad Pitt does so many, like.
- 56:19SPEAKER_02: I don't understand.
- 56:20SPEAKER_02: Doesn't he also do like um he tries to do like an Irish accent at some point?
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: Oh, but that's that's um in Snatch.
- 56:28SPEAKER_03: Snatch.
- 56:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's actually I've heard from so it's from the community that it's that he's doing it on.
- 56:35SPEAKER_03: It's like apparently a really accurate accent.
- 56:37SPEAKER_03: Really accurate accent.
- 56:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: They've all like praised it really strongly because it's really good.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, brilliant.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 56:43SPEAKER_03: So then what happened with Jamaica?
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: Oh who knows?
- 56:46SPEAKER_03: I don't know what that was.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: Bro.
- 56:48unknown: Bro.
- 56:49SPEAKER_03: Meet Joe Black.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: That's a weird movie in itself.
- 56:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen the movie either.
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: I've just seen that clip out of context, which does not inspire me to watch the movie.
- 56:57SPEAKER_03: Well, there's that, and then he gets there's a scene of him.
- 57:01SPEAKER_03: He gets he walks out into the street and he's like looking back and everything, and then suddenly he'll get he gets hit by like four different cars that it just goes back and forth like in him.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, they're pinballed.
- 57:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's really it's really weird, but it's so funny.
- 57:14SPEAKER_03: And it's not a comedy.
- 57:15SPEAKER_02: This movie They made that as a serious scene.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: He goes, What will happen is you'll get hit by one car and you'll think that's it, but really it'll just get hit by another, and then everyone and he like stands up and then another one hits him, and then and it happens.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: I think it's like two or something, it's something it's ridiculous.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: That's crazy, it's ridiculous.
- 57:35SPEAKER_03: I'm like, how is this a serious scene?
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: I think that's why I got into the industry.
- 57:39SPEAKER_02: Because I'm just like, sorry, have you seen how much ridiculous stuff is being made?
- 57:43SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: Surely something I I think of can be made if all of this stuff can be made, you know what I mean?
- 57:51SPEAKER_02: Like, it's gotta be possible.
- 57:54SPEAKER_03: It's gotta be.
- 57:55SPEAKER_03: And that's like to bring it back to rush hour as well.
- 57:57SPEAKER_03: Like, this is why I think like these are so good, because they're they they they play it for last, but they also like they know how silly they can be, and they just know that they can have fun with it and and not they don't care.
- 58:10SPEAKER_03: They just don't care what they're doing.
- 58:11SPEAKER_03: They're just like they're just like, we're gonna have fun and we're gonna like be really silly.
- 58:15SPEAKER_03: Dude, yeah.
- 58:16SPEAKER_02: And what I love about what I'll tell you what the endearing thing is, it's the bloopers at the end.
- 58:20SPEAKER_03: The bloopers are.
- 58:21SPEAKER_03: I was gonna bring that up as well, yeah.
- 58:22SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 58:23SPEAKER_03: Bring back bloopers, bring back bloopers at the end of movies.
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: This is my favorite series of bloopers in a in a movie, like at the end of a movie.
- 58:30SPEAKER_02: And there's always like a nod to like, damn, yeah, he ain't gonna be in Rush out of three.
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: And you're just like the best line.
- 58:37SPEAKER_03: So good.
- 58:37SPEAKER_03: The best line.
- 58:38SPEAKER_03: It even makes Jackie Chan laugh.
- 58:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:41SPEAKER_02: It's it's so uh, it's so yeah, it's so good.
- 58:45SPEAKER_02: I like I think bloopers in general, man, like of anything.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Even when I watch a really good sketch, yeah, I'm like, this was funny, and then they show the bloopers.
- 58:52SPEAKER_02: I'm like, this was funny too.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like the bloopers are just a good idea.
- 58:55SPEAKER_03: I remember like um in sick form, I was doing um, we had to make like a film trailer, like a film trailer, like which so it wasn't actually sort of a fake film, basically, you would make it.
- 59:07SPEAKER_03: I had so many bloopers from that, I then released the this is when YouTube first started.
- 59:11SPEAKER_03: So I put like the trailer on, and then I was like, oh, and here's the bloopers as well.
- 59:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 59:15SPEAKER_03: And the bloopers did better.
- 59:17unknown: Yeah.
- 59:19SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 59:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sometimes the bloopers are the thing that attracts people to see uh the intended piece of work.
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like the bloopers.
- 59:27SPEAKER_03: I remember at the time the bloopers got like 4,000 views, which was that like in 2006.
- 59:32SPEAKER_03: There was like it was like this is mad.
- 59:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, man.
- 59:38SPEAKER_02: That's that's incredible.
- 59:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:40SPEAKER_02: Like there's all those little and you know when like a series has continuity in a way, yeah, just like because of like certain I don't want to call them gimmicks, but maybe they are gimmicks, certain things that come back in every film.
- 59:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:56SPEAKER_02: Like it's the whole and again, everything I'm saying comes back to racism.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_02: But but it's uh it's that whole like uh this is you, you, no is the is that me?
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_02: Me, who, me?
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: Who, me?
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: Like, and it's just that like where is you?
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_02: Where is you?
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: This is you.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_03: But that's um like that's just a racist version of that that in the the the very classic sketch, Who's on first?
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you know I don't know.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_03: I've looked at it.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_03: It's this really it's like from the 30s, and it's like, who's on first?
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_03: Yes, who's on first?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh I see.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_03: It's because it's like it's um it's uh about on first, which is first base in baseball, and they're like who's on first, and then the name is whose, and then the bet the first is the first.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_03: Like, it's like there's so many layers to it.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_03: That's really but like that this is just a play on that, but like this it's still great.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's still exactly, and it's still like you see different versions in different media, yeah.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_02: Like Faulty Towers has like a version I feel like where Mr.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: Faulty is like uh uh on those trays, yeah, and Manuel's like uh no no uno dos tres.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_02: So good.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's so good, so good, so good, simple wordplay.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_03: Wordplay, I I love wordplay so much in in anything, and like I think I think as writers, it also like there's something that plays that plays to us as well.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just like closely.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_03: It's just like, oh, if you can get something like that and figure it out, dude.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_02: So factor, but so easy to get wrong.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_02: So so easy for this to be like just I don't know, just like not it just misses the mark.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_02: But if you get it right, it's like some of the best.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_02: No, we're quoting it.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: Years and years of it.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: I remember it, yeah.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: I I there's so many I haven't seen this in a few years.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_03: Probably like I want to say like close to a decade now.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: I remember I remember everything.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: I had like clear memory of everything, all of it, the whole thing.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: All of it, man.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_03: When when uh Jackie when Jackie Chan thinks Chris Tucker has died and he's like and Chris Tucker's just walking down the street holding the chicken.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_03: And Jackie Chan's like listening to To P.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_03: Diddy.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_02: I'm s I'm remembering things about Rush R2 which I'm like, I don't think I can ever watch this movie again.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_02: There's too many details.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_03: No, but even watching all of it, like even even still watching all that, I was like, this is still so funny.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_03: And it like, and I think the context of that is also like almost funnier in a way.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_03: Just like it's just like how many things can you add to it?
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: How many layers can they add to it?
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna tell my family at Christmas and they'll be like, guys, who wants to watch the most problematic movie of all time with me?
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_02: Let's watch Rush Avity.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: So many layers.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_02: So many layers.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_02: They go to the they go to um the massage parlour.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_02: The massage parlour where they just get to chew.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_02: There's just like 30 girls lined up behind the city.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_02: And they're all supposedly just sitting behind the curtain.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're just waiting.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_02: They were just waiting for these two guys to walk in, right?
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then Chris Tucker can't choose, so he picks six of them.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: Six of them, and yeah, fine.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_02: I guess that's allowed.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_02: I guess this whole thing is real, right?
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_02: Like Yeah, but the place is called like Heaven on Earth or something.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_02: Um then um but the sequence at the end in the casino is so good.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_02: Great.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just all the mad um just the mad action sequence is insane at the end.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_03: So good, and then like they they zipline down like another thing that was so common in like movies from this time, and like have you don't see it anymore, is like jumping from a building and zipling down like finding something to finding a way of getting down where it's always ziplining.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then that thing where they like they land in the road and then they sit up and the truck is approaching, so they have to lie back down.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: Which I feel like is a real stunt, right?
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, it would be like Jackie likes doing all of that kind of stuff.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, there's there's also like so many again in the bloopers, you see so many times of like how how many times he like failed it and like hurt himself and everything.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_03: And it's like this is what you would always get in a Jackie Chan movie at the end as well.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, oh, I miss those days.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_03: I miss I miss seeing the stunts that went wrong and like seeing that he actually did it and what he had to go through to do that as well.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_03: And then he's trying to slide through that window.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's the most iconic one.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the sort of jaily window with all the bars.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_03: But how like how he ever thought he was gonna be able to do that easily anyway?
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_03: I mate, it's so tiny, it's like the size of this laptop screen, mate.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you have to like like if you were doing it, you'd be like, Okay, I'll try and do this, but like we'll do it slowly.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was like running up to it and like I have to like be.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_02: He's doing like full stunts before it and then going into that.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: He has to post himself like a letter, like through that through that bit of window, and you're just like, How are you doing this, mate?
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: But yeah, he's done it.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_03: Like he again, like oh my god.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_03: I he is one of the greatest action stars of all time.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_03: Like it's and it goes about the same, but like he again, I I know that he was inspired by uh a lot of like the stars of like the the comedy stars from like the 30s and 40s as well, of like um like the Buster Keaton.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_03: Buster Keaton with the window.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: So he would s he'd learn from them and then took on his own stuff and then added the martial arts stuff around it.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_03: And yeah.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_03: I just think that's so cool.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_02: Man, it's really cool.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_02: At least he's a student of the game.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he he knows his stuff.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_03: And like yeah, still making loads of stuff now.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_03: Still still come through bad.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_03: Still got Is that his latest thing that he's made?
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: No, uh well he's like the I think he's the dad in Kung Fu Panda or something like that.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_03: Is he?
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_03: Kung Fu Panda's Jack Black, but No, of course, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_03: I know, I know that.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, I know that.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_03: I know that.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_03: That that bit I can't miss.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, he the latest thing he made was um the new karate kid.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_03: Is that the latest thing he's made?
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_03: Didn't see it.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_02: And then Rush R 4.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_03: Is it on the TBC?
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_03: It's on the TBC, isn't it?
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_03: Alongside New Police Story 2.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen the first one.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_03: That's a that's a really good one.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_03: Is that good?
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a good that's a good like action movie.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_03: I'll I'll watch it now.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you'll enjoy that.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there are so many classics I haven't seen.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to see what it's saying.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_03: It's been in development since like 2009.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_03: Um the latest.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_03: In November 2025, Paramount Pictures was announced to release the film with Brett Ratner returning.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_03: It has been reported Oh my god, wait for this.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_03: This will bring it back.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_03: It has been reported that US President Donald Trump played a role in reviving the projects.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: Russia, it's a great film.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_02: It's an amazing film, believe me.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_02: I like all the scenes where I don't really know what the brand people are saying, but as long as they get beaten up, I don't mind.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_02: Asia.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_02: I can't do it.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: Asia.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: China.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: China, yeah.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_03: I can't do a Trump.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_03: I'm like, so many people can do Trumps, I can't do one.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_03: I'm not good at impressions.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_03: You could yeah, you take it took a couple of days, you could do it.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_02: I'll coach you.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_02: Just go gruff at the start and then just make sure your mouth is a bit of a square when you talk.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_02: So you dunk like this.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_03: I can't believe Brett Ratner's returning and Trump played a part in reviving it.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_03: I don't understand that.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_03: That makes no sense.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_02: I've taken 200 million out of the US Treasury to make Rush Hour 4 the greatest rush hour of all time, believe me.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_03: I've got a Trump story.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so like um related to me, and it's that it's that um in 2009 I was on a student exchange in New York doing like a study abroad thing.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_03: And it was the day before Thanksgiving, and everyone had gone home.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_03: Obviously, because they were they all go wherever.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_03: I'm stuck in the student dorms because there's like nowhere for me to go.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_03: I'm not going home for Thanksgiving, like it makes no sense.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_03: Um I'm stuck there, and I'm like, okay, well let me at least get out for the day, let me go and like on a walk or something like that.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_03: I go to leave the building.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: They're like, you can't leave the building, it's blocked off.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_03: We're making we're filming a scene for Wall Street 2.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_03: The scene is Donald Trump walks into uh a barber and it's literally next door to the building where I am.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_03: So they they they they blocked it off, they're like being all protective over it because Trump's there.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_03: Trump walks uh um sorry, Michael Douglas walks into a shop, into a barber shop, sits down and gets his hair cut.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_03: As he's sitting down to get his hair cut, Trump is sitting next to him, and the joke is that Trump's getting his hair cut.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_03: They film for an entire day, I'm not allowed out the entire time of this building.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_03: Block it off.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_03: They don't let us out.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_03: Cut the scene from the movie.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_03: No, and you can see it on YouTube and it's so shit.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_03: It's just Trump, it's just Trump going, I've been coming here for 20 years.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_02: And Michael Douglas is like, yeah.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, literally it.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_02: That's literally it.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: He's like, Okay, great.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: Was it a fun day trapped inside a building?
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_03: No, it was fucking horrible.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, the student dorm that's this like half the size of this room.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_03: I can't leave the room.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_03: There's no there's nothing to do downstairs.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_03: Nobody's there.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_03: What I mean, and you you probably weren't in New York for that long either.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_03: No, I was there for like I think I was there from August to December.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: At least you were there for a few weeks.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but like the I thought you were there for like a long weekend.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_02: You spent one of the things that we're doing.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_02: No, that would be horrible.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_02: Oh mate, yeah, I would have sued.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_03: I was so pissed off, but I was like, at least I was like, okay, well, at least when I come when it comes out, I can see the scene and everything.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_03: Cut from the movie, and then like later on, I had to I found it on YouTube, like years later.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_03: I was like, what is this?
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_03: Did you look for it?
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_03: Or did you just pop up?
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I know I was looking.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_03: I remember one day I was like, oh yeah, there was that scene.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_03: And I was like, let me see if there's any deleted scenes, and then it comes.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_03: They were like, no, sorry, Trump's here.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_03: And this is like pre, you know, he was he was apprentice Trump at the time.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_02: It wasn't Yeah, he was just like he wasn't a political figure.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_02: He was yeah, he was just a public figure known for just not even much, right?
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_02: Like known for just being a rich socialite, I suppose.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_03: So that that was the whole thing of like, because it was Wall Street and it was like, oh, let's do this.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_03: But then the weird thing is, the scene is set in London, which makes no sense as well.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_03: It's like you went and filmed So you get your hair cut in London.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is what again you've been doing that for 20 years.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_02: That like doesn't make sense conceptually.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_03: And the film is set in New York or New York.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what's in New York on Wall Street?
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_02: Famously.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_02: The film Wall Street is set on Wall Street.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_02: When they were in a UK barbers.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_02: It's not like the R barbers.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_02: Also, like, I mean, look, I'm admittedly coming from a place of low experience when it comes to barbers.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_02: But I I I wouldn't say that the UK is particularly well known for its barbers.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_02: No, isn't it you know what I mean?
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_02: It's not like a Turkish barbell.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_02: What are you gonna do in London?
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_02: Oh well, I'll probably see the big Ben, Buckingham Palace.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm gonna get a haircut.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna get a haircut, mate.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, you're gonna get the London haircut?
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can't wait.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_03: If I've heard so much about it.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_03: But if anyone would, it would be Trump.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, yeah, exactly.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_02: Just make he just makes it into a thing, even though it's definitely not a thing.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_02: So so so crazy.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_03: It's so weird.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_03: And it's like, but have you heard that thing of like um people would do that?
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_03: There must have been some kind of thing where they filmed at one of his his locations that it's something he owned.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_03: Because they would do I've heard that they would do things where they would get him, like the only way he would agree to uh like let people do things with his films, like in Home Alone 2, for example.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_02: You're right.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_03: Uh is so is if he was in the film.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_03: So anytime you see him in something, it's because he's allowed um them to film something in his.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_02: It's basically like a Tarantino.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_02: I'll make the movie, but I've got to be in it.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_02: I've got to be in it, there's gotta be a foot somewhere.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_02: There's gotta be a foot somewhere.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_02: And I've gotta say the n-word.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_02: You've got to say the n-word, yeah.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_02: Otherwise I'm not making it.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_02: And everyone's like, no, here you go, please.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_02: This is what we discussed on the plane.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_02: I keep telling you.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_02: Um god, I wouldn't be surprised if he was on it at some point.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_02: Oh mate.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_02: Allegedly.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_02: Allegedly, allegedly.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_02: Any yeah, anything we've said today that might be considered offensive.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_02: Chris Tucker was allegedly on a plane.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_02: I'm not Yeah.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_02: Chris Tucker's been on planes.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_02: Well, I can say I can say that with confidence, but allegedly.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_02: Allegedly in the flight logs.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I d I mean it's so easily believable that Trump would do that.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_03: It was it was such a weird day.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_03: It was just like, I was like, why?
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_03: Why is this happening?
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_03: Like, what am I supposed to do right now?
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_03: And again, this is 2009 as well, so like this is I didn't w there wasn't even like I wasn't even using a smartphone or anything like that.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_02: Dude, no, exactly.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_02: I've I've seen this debate recently where people are going, what's better, Home Alone or Home Alone 2?
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_02: For me, it's not even a debate, it's Home Alone.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_02: The first one.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_02: W were you surprised?
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_02: I thought you were gonna say two.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_02: That's what I was saying.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_02: Oh no, no, no.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_02: I was waiting for you to say two.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_03: No, I didn't uh okay, so I think Home Alone is better.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_03: I ha if I again okay, so uh this might be the same as same sort of thing as Rush Out, where like one is technically better, but two is more fun.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_02: But you Oh, okay.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_02: I'd probably have dedicated myself more to seeing the first one.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen it that much because I just wasn't enthralled with it.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_03: Uh I've got a memory so I think two, again, this all comes back to nostalgia again, but like two, I remember doing going to on a s a visit to see a school for the first time.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_03: In res I was about to I was gonna start reception, and the way that my parents got me to go there were they were like, we'll get you home alone too on video.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_02: And that was the And that was that was that was that was I was like, yeah, cool.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_03: Three years old, cool.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_02: Wow, okay, fine.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_02: Fair enough.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fair enough.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_02: You've chosen two, you've chosen the film with Trump in it.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_02: There's not much I can say about it.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_02: I was trying to help you out.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_03: I was trying to trying to steer us towards one.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_03: I think I've seen one is definitely a better movie, though.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_03: I will admit, one is a better movie.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_03: One is they essentially that they are the same movie though.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, of course, of course, of course.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_02: It's like taken.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_02: Like sometimes you just go, you've got a concept, and well, like prison break.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_02: You're like, oh what?
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, so now we're in the third jail that we're breaking out of.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_02: I guess you've figured out that people liked the concept.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_03: Um it's um, I I do think one is I will say one is probably the best Christmas movie of all time.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna stand by that.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_03: That's my hot take.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_02: That's a big hot take.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_02: My my best one of all time is Jingle All the Way.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_02: Because it's terrible.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_02: Why did you not pick that for this?
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_02: Because it's terrible.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I could I could have, you know.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_02: I totally could have.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_02: And I could have rushed the release to get it out.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_03: We're filming this a week before Christmas.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_01: Shit.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, scrap, scrap everything we've done so far.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_02: Jingle all the way.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_02: I will I will briefly argue for jingle all the way, though.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_02: I love jingle all the way.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_02: Jingle all the way is unbelievable.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_02: Okay, first of all, I because it's it's just so bad.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_02: So bad.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_02: But so funny.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_02: Like, I just think it's so funny that um you've got Arnold Schwarzenegger, who's literally got one of the most recognizable voices of all time, right?
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_02: Jamie, Jamie, Jamie, I'm going to get the double man for you.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_02: Like, right?
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_02: Can't even say his son's name.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he can barely Jamie.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like what?
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_01: You're going to work?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_01: You're going out.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_02: Uh uh No, I I I I make sure I get the toy.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_02: I uh look and he's bumbling out, and then at the end, spoiler that if you haven't seen it, right?
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_02: Spoiler for jingle all the way.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_02: For jingle all the way, which is impossible to spoil.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_02: Um, it's he he obviously gets the suit and he's turbo man, right?
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_02: And then he meets Jamie and he's like, Hey Jamie, it's me, Turbo Man.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_02: Like, how would Jamie not know that this is his dad?
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_02: The only person in the universe with that voice.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_02: He's also so fucking pinched.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_02: He's hey Jamie.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I wanted the middle time.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_02: You're like my bodybuilder looking dad.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_02: I think that might be him.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_02: With the most distinct face of all time.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_02: Like any anything on his face is like, yeah, that's Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_02: So funny.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_03: So it's so ridiculous.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: So ridiculous.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: The random rivalry with Sinbad.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_02: There's um, yeah, there's a there's a there's a bomb in it.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_02: There's a bomb in it.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just like absolute pandemonium.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, the freaking neighbor who's like, I'll take care of your wife, don't worry about it.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_02: She made me cookies, they were pretty good.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_02: And you're like, sleazy motherfucker.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_02: This is so exciting.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's so right, like also, um I can let me see if I can find this.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_03: There was a thing that I saw literally like two days ago.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_03: Um it's this, and it's it says I'm not saying the studio films look terrible now, but I saw five minutes of Jingle all the way and it looked like an Eric Roma film.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_03: And Eric Rom Eric Roma is like this really like uh filmic director.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_03: He's like really like so like it's saying like how good Jingle All the Way looked compared to like now.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_03: And then it shows the city, and then it's like and then I saw someone retweet it and it said it was a thing of like um and it was just like the scene of when um she's she's talking in the mirror and then she bends down and it doesn't zoom in right on him.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh man.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_02: And it's like that's classic, you don't get stuff like that now.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_02: Nah, nah, you don't, man.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_02: It's great, you don't just like kind of like it moves on with everything, right?
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_02: Like the culture of what a film looks like moves on.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_02: And um like it's the same for it's the same, it's the same for Bollywood as well.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_02: I know like people take the piss out of Bollywood a lot, but like Bollywood has some A, some fantastic movies anyway, yeah, that like you will never have heard of it because it's so good that no one wants to talk talk about it respectfully in the West.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_02: So like we can only talk about like the mad, whatever, stupid action sequences or whatever, which there are some.
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_02: Um, but like, yeah, there are like classic Bollywood movies where you were just like, This makes me feel like a certain way, yeah, in a way that a movie today just couldn't do that.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, yeah.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and Jingle All the Way is the same.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_02: Like you can't make something like Jingle All the Way now.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_02: Dude, definitely.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_03: They would never make that now.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_02: It's just stupid.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_02: But it's also stupid in a in a sense of like in a sense of how endearing it is.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_02: Like it's so endearing.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_02: It's so endearing.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_03: It's it's so it ends up being so sweet.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_02: For no reason, yeah, exactly.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_02: It feels harmless.
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna watch it again and be like, okay, that was racist, that was bad.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_02: It was staring at some some girl there he shouldn't have been.
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_02: Probably, yeah, probably.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, but like Bill Clinton walks in.
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_02: Directed by Brett Ratnett.
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_03: Um, Jeffrey Epstein's flying a plane.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_02: Staring at Jamie.
- 1:21:27SPEAKER_02: We didn't know what it meant.
- 1:21:33SPEAKER_02: But like from my memory, I'm like, no, this was this was a stupid film, but like an endearing stupid film.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_02: Like, there's nothing I want to watch more on Christmas than Jingle All the Way.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_02: Fair enough.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_02: I'm like, yeah, like definitely stick it on.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_02: But Jingle All the Way is my priority.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen Jingle All the Way in a while, but I now gotta I gotta re-watch it this week.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_03: You have to.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_03: I have to, you have to, it's so good.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_02: And write in the comments what the most problematic thing with Jim Jingle All the Way is that you've seen.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_02: Um, because you guys are all gonna watch it as well.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_03: Also, write in the comments.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_03: I want to know like your favourite movie with the most problematic scene as well, because like that's please tell me, please tell us that.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_02: There's gotta be a plethora.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be something.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_03: Well, like the most problematic, like like thinking about how how OJ's in the naked gun or something like that.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_03: Uh uh I another one I haven't seen.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_03: Never seen the naked gun.
- 1:22:26SPEAKER_03: You know, do you know the worst thing about it?
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_03: He's incredible in it.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_02: Well, OJ.
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_02: He's so good.
- 1:22:32SPEAKER_02: He's so funny.
- 1:22:33SPEAKER_02: He's so good that you're like, he was acting, it was it, he did it.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_02: He did it.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_03: He was so funny.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_03: So good.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_02: You're like, mate, if you weren't a murderer, you would have a great career.
- 1:22:46SPEAKER_03: Honestly, like in he's genuinely like you go back and watch like the films that he was in, he was genuinely good.
- 1:22:52SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:22:53SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_02: Holy shit.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:22:55SPEAKER_02: Can't say that too much about films with like sort of random celebrities in because no normally the acting isn't good.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_03: But OJ Simpson's acting.
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he went from like a football player to that to we know.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_01: He tried a lot of different careers, you know?
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_01: I've done the football thing, I've done the acting thing.
- 1:23:16SPEAKER_01: What's it like to be a murderer?
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_02: What's that like?
- 1:23:19SPEAKER_02: Allegedly.
- 1:23:20SPEAKER_02: Allegedly, allegedly.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_03: I think you were Were you there the night he died at Brown's Source?
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_03: Were you at Brown's?
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_01: OJ died at Brown's.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 1:23:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he went on, he did a he did a set, he died originally.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_02: They were really like thin on booking, so they were like, This guy was really good in that naked gun.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_02: Do you reckon he'll be up for a five?
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_03: But there was a night there was a whenever it was, there was a the So the night he the day he died, uh there was a brown saw show on, um, and every single person did OJ jokes.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_02: I don't think I was there for that.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_03: You weren't there for that.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_03: Because every single act did had some kind of OJ joke in there, and they're like, well, here's mine now.
- 1:24:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:08SPEAKER_02: Oh man, this one's gonna this one's actually gonna be good.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, we've already heard like six of these.
- 1:24:14SPEAKER_02: It was so funny.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_03: It was just like because it was just like, well, here he is another one.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_03: And then and then I think, oh god, who was it?
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_03: I don't know who had lined that night.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_03: Uh Bilal Zafer.
- 1:24:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:24:26unknown: Yeah.
- 1:24:27SPEAKER_02: Did he have did he have his OJ gear ready?
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't even remember if he did.
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_03: He must have done.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_03: He would have done one.
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_02: You would think so.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_02: But then maybe like he's like, oh well, we've already seen loads of these.
- 1:24:38SPEAKER_02: I'll just do the regular boring non-OJ stuff.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_03: It's just really funny because this is like that's that's one thing where you could be like, everyone can be like, yeah, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do do a joke about that.
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everyone's gonna have something.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_03: Also, it's a brown knight.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_03: It's so funny that everyone had an OJ joke.
- 1:24:59SPEAKER_02: This brown like audiencing where no one really gives a shit about OJ as well.
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_02: Like OJ who?
- 1:25:06SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:25:07SPEAKER_02: I think it was like 95% brown people in the audience.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_02: Everyone's like, these guys are gonna love this glove-based joke that I have.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_03: Brought the glove with me.
- 1:25:21SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, so again, like what's funny is we were talking before this about how you were listening to the Jake Bardwatch episode and how we didn't really talk about Jumanji.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_03: I feel like we haven't really talked about Rashad 2 that much either.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_03: But we have, man.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_03: We've We've talked about it more than Jumanji, too.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_02: We've talked about loads of other stuff too.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_03: Um I'm not gonna bring up because we're tight on time as well, and like, and because we talked about it already within this, I like your your film was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that you didn't you think is overrated.
- 1:25:52SPEAKER_02: I think it's so overrated.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_03: Is there anything like that you want to add to it that we didn't talk about within?
- 1:25:57SPEAKER_02: Well, I I there's one more movie I can bring up.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah, great.
- 1:26:01SPEAKER_02: So this is a movie that's supposed to be well rated.
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_02: Okay, but um, but I didn't like.
- 1:26:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know, admittedly, I don't know how well rated this is.
- 1:26:08SPEAKER_02: So maybe we can find out.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_02: But there was a Fantastic Four film out recently.
- 1:26:13SPEAKER_03: The new the most recent one.
- 1:26:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:14SPEAKER_02: The most recent one.
- 1:26:15SPEAKER_03: I think it was like fairly well rated.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_03: Was it decently rated?
- 1:26:19SPEAKER_03: It was Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_03: Um Rotten to Mars has got 86%.
- 1:26:22SPEAKER_03: 86%?
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_02: It was shite, mate.
- 1:26:25SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen it yet.
- 1:26:26SPEAKER_02: So it felt like it was a strange experience.
- 1:26:30SPEAKER_02: It felt like we all know that this is made up.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_02: But it felt like they were trying to make a documentary.
- 1:26:36SPEAKER_02: That's what it was like.
- 1:26:37SPEAKER_02: It was like, sorry, do you guys think that this is real?
- 1:26:41SPEAKER_02: That's how like serious the film was.
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_02: That's really weird.
- 1:26:44SPEAKER_02: It was so weird, and it had this like really serious tone to it, where I was like, you know, this is just we're just all fucking about and believing that someone can set themselves on fire, right?
- 1:26:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_02: Someone can be really stretchy and stuff, right?
- 1:26:57SPEAKER_02: But they made it like so like, okay, this has to be in theme for like the 70s, and we're gonna like, we're gonna make sure people know about these people's mission.
- 1:27:07SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, where's the where's the fun in this?
- 1:27:10SPEAKER_02: This is just like, this is silly.
- 1:27:11SPEAKER_03: It's not real.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_03: Stop being so serious.
- 1:27:13SPEAKER_03: It's really interesting because like it felt, at least from the trailers and everything, and from like what they were saying they were going for, it looked like they were trying to so do you remember the one from like a decade ago?
- 1:27:24SPEAKER_03: Um Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:25SPEAKER_03: That's really serious.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:27:28SPEAKER_03: Is that really serious?
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_03: That one.
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_03: The one with the one with um Michael B.
- 1:27:32SPEAKER_03: Jordan Wait.
- 1:27:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_02: Sorry, not Michael B.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_02: Jordan.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_03: Because there was one where um No, it is, it's with Michael B.
- 1:27:38SPEAKER_03: Jordan and then Miles Teller.
- 1:27:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I didn't see that one.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_02: I didn't see that one.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_03: That is a bad movie.
- 1:27:44SPEAKER_02: Is it?
- 1:27:44SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:27:45SPEAKER_03: This is why here's so bad that like that's why they've gone and like done it again.
- 1:27:49SPEAKER_03: Done done this one.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:27:51SPEAKER_02: So this is why here as well, that that one's terrible.
- 1:27:53SPEAKER_02: But the one I watched obviously was the one before that.
- 1:27:56SPEAKER_02: Jessica Alba one.
- 1:27:56SPEAKER_02: Jessica Alba one.
- 1:27:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:27:58SPEAKER_02: That's that was a fantastic.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_02: Fantastic four.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:28:01SPEAKER_02: I really enjoy it.
- 1:28:02SPEAKER_02: It's so fun.
- 1:28:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_03: Isn't it?
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_03: Um so n but the the the really serious one in in like 2015 or something like that, it's it takes itself so seriously that like I th I thought they were getting away from that for Oh, they've leaned into it probably even harder.
- 1:28:18SPEAKER_02: Like, and also I think the Silver Surfer is in this one.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_02: But like for like three times.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_02: The first time being like, oh, on the Silver Surfer.
- 1:28:27SPEAKER_02: Second one being like, hey, listen, listen to us.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_02: And then the third time being like, Yeah, my bad, we're gonna leave.
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_02: Like it's it's so inconsequential.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_02: You know why?
- 1:28:37SPEAKER_02: She was filming weapons.
- 1:28:38SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_03: No, it's not why like they can I she filmed them at the same time, but like it's not why she was not in that movie.
- 1:28:47SPEAKER_02: Right, right, right, right, right, right.
- 1:28:48SPEAKER_02: But it was like, Yeah, it was I just found the whole thing to be like, What you guys trying to trick us into?
- 1:28:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like it just it's the feeling is weird.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, look, I've spoken to someone else about it, only one other person, and they really liked it.
- 1:29:03SPEAKER_02: Uh, but I watched it with my dad, who's a big Marvel fan.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_02: And um, like I'm a Marvel fan, but my dad's a really big Marvel fan.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_02: And even my dad was like, what is this, mate?
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:29:13SPEAKER_03: Um, that's a shame.
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_03: Because I was like, it's the it's the only one of the recent ones where I'm like, oh, I might actually watch that.
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, like, feel free to watch it and then maybe maybe we maybe we discuss at some point off camera or in a real like uh by the way, Yanis saw this and apparently Damon's wrong.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_03: Like if I watch it between now and and the final version of this going out, I'm gonna I'm gonna add in what I think of this.
- 1:29:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_02: Do it, do it, do it.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_02: Watch it in 10 minute increments between like you know, looking after your baby, you know?
- 1:29:48SPEAKER_03: It will be that.
- 1:29:49SPEAKER_03: That's that's the only I haven't seen anything in a while now.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_03: In five weeks I haven't watched a single thing.
- 1:29:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:29:55SPEAKER_03: Oh no, that's a lie.
- 1:29:56SPEAKER_03: Over the weekend, I watched the movie Um Good Fortune, the the Aziz one with him and Seth Rogan.
- 1:30:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's new in the cinema.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_03: No, it's I watched it at home.
- 1:30:07SPEAKER_03: Is it out now?
- 1:30:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:30:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it was the definition, very definition of this is fine.
- 1:30:13SPEAKER_02: This which is like not what you want.
- 1:30:16SPEAKER_02: I was like, this is from anything.
- 1:30:18SPEAKER_03: Is the most three-star movie you would have watched.
- 1:30:20SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 1:30:21SPEAKER_02: I think there is like there's a sort of I don't want to say art to it, but like there is like a sort of like conveyor belt of these three-star movies that get put out to be like you can just watch this if you're sort of not doing anything else.
- 1:30:36SPEAKER_03: That's literally what it is, yeah.
- 1:30:37SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 1:30:38SPEAKER_03: That's literally what the movie was.
- 1:30:39SPEAKER_03: Like, you could you could lose focus for like half an hour, come back to it, and you're like, yeah, I haven't missed anything, it's fine.
- 1:30:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:30:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:30:45SPEAKER_03: It's like it's kind of funny, it's kind of it's like the story's fine.
- 1:30:49SPEAKER_03: It like it won't make you laugh.
- 1:30:51SPEAKER_02: Like you'll be like, okay, this is funny enough that I'll keep this on.
- 1:30:53SPEAKER_02: Like it's not so bad, I'm gonna turn it off.
- 1:30:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's not a bad movie by any means, but it's like, uh, okay, and I'm never gonna watch it again.
- 1:31:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_02: Um no, that's so but I'm trying to avoid that to be honest.
- 1:31:06SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to avoid that in media.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to avoid um average movies, and uh same with books.
- 1:31:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, same with books.
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_02: There's only a certain amount of time you have in life, yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:18SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 1:31:19SPEAKER_02: Um and before, right?
- 1:31:21SPEAKER_02: And to be fair, I still struggle with this.
- 1:31:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you have this.
- 1:31:24SPEAKER_02: But with a movie or with a book, I'm like once I've started it, I've got to finish it.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_02: Because if I it what if I what if it's good uh later on down the line, even if I'm not enjoying it now.
- 1:31:37SPEAKER_03: See, I've not I've I used to have that, I've lost that now.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_03: But now I'm just like, if I'm not enjoying it, I'm just gonna drop it.
- 1:31:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm I'm having that now.
- 1:31:46SPEAKER_02: I'm like I'm reading a murder mystery at the moment, right?
- 1:31:51SPEAKER_02: 350 pages long, right?
- 1:31:53SPEAKER_02: I'm halfway through it, only now someone has died.
- 1:31:56SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:31:57SPEAKER_02: What the hell was going on in the first half?
- 1:31:59SPEAKER_02: That's the mystery.
- 1:32:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's do you know what I mean?
- 1:32:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, it's so annoying, and now I'm like, oh for God's sake, like I just sort of just tell me who did it.
- 1:32:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just tell me who freaking did it.
- 1:32:10SPEAKER_02: I don't want to read the rest of this book now.
- 1:32:12SPEAKER_02: Is it one of those Richard Osman ones?
- 1:32:14SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, it's not that one, but it's um shots fired.
- 1:32:18SPEAKER_03: I know, I have I've not read a single one of those, I'm just like curious.
- 1:32:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, really?
- 1:32:22SPEAKER_03: Because you said murder mystery, I was just like, oh, it could be one of those.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_03: It could be, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:25SPEAKER_02: It was um no, someone else.
- 1:32:27SPEAKER_02: Richard, please have me on House of Games.
- 1:32:31SPEAKER_02: Uh it was uh no.
- 1:32:34SPEAKER_02: I won't I won't name and shame.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_02: I won't name in shame.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_02: It's fine.
- 1:32:37SPEAKER_02: But it was it was bad.
- 1:32:39SPEAKER_03: This is the other thing of like once you start working in in the industry, you can't you can't name these things now.
- 1:32:45SPEAKER_03: I I guess I'll never work with Chris Tucker though.
- 1:32:48SPEAKER_03: I mean, it doesn't seem like he's working anything.
- 1:32:50SPEAKER_02: I never I never worked with Brett Ratner.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_03: Oh no, you're not gonna be in Rush Hour 4.
- 1:32:57SPEAKER_03: I'm not even gonna be in the bloopers, for God's sake.
- 1:33:01SPEAKER_03: God, imagine if you were in Rush Hour 4, though.
- 1:33:04SPEAKER_03: Like that, it'd be the most racist thing.
- 1:33:06SPEAKER_03: Like they put you in.
- 1:33:07SPEAKER_02: Bro, yeah, I know.
- 1:33:08SPEAKER_02: They'd be like, Yeah, we just we want you to play an Uber driver.
- 1:33:14SPEAKER_02: An Uber driver.
- 1:33:15SPEAKER_02: An Uber driver who's selling Indian food out of the back of his car.
- 1:33:19SPEAKER_02: And and then I and then I'd go, I'm not doing that, and they'd go, no, it's ten thousand dollars.
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_02: And I'd go, when am I flying now?
- 1:33:28SPEAKER_02: I'll do it for five.
- 1:33:29SPEAKER_02: I'll do it for five.
- 1:33:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've got a few ideas on how to make this more racist, actually.
- 1:33:35SPEAKER_02: I'll bring the food.
- 1:33:40SPEAKER_03: Well, on that note, thank you so much for coming on.
- 1:33:45SPEAKER_03: This has been great.
- 1:33:45SPEAKER_03: Um, how can we find you online?
- 1:33:47SPEAKER_03: Um, and do you have anything you want to promote at the moment?
- 1:33:50SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, so watch my Christmas film, which I mentioned at the start.
- 1:33:54SPEAKER_03: Um What's the name of it again?
- 1:33:55SPEAKER_02: Finding Father Christmas.
- 1:33:56SPEAKER_03: Finding Father Christmas, Christmas Eve at Christmas Eve, 7 p.m.

- 1:34:11SPEAKER_02: If that's what it's still called.
- 1:34:13SPEAKER_03: Um I don't I still call it that way, but it's it's not anymore.
- 1:34:16SPEAKER_02: It's probably not that anymore, is it?
- 1:34:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, god what's up.

- 1:34:59SPEAKER_03: Have you got any uh solo show to come in in January?
- 1:35:02SPEAKER_02: Uh I don't think in January.
- 1:35:04SPEAKER_02: Um I think uh I I'm gonna I'm doing the Leicester Comedy Festival.
- 1:35:08SPEAKER_02: Nice.
