- 2:36Good. Just trying to set all this

- 2:41We're live right now, so let's go.
- 2:44Yeah, well, I see you're live over there and I'm sure you're
- 2:47getting the chance to see all the coaches, some, I guess,
- 2:50College World Series fans. I could only imagine the
- 2:54thousands of people that go and check out the College World
- 2:58Series every single year. And and and this year it's over
- 3:01there in Nebraska, Omaha, NE. I've never been to Omaha, NE.
- 3:04I heard there's actually, I'm not mistaken, there's like a
- 3:07Jake 58 over there. There's like a casino over
- 3:10there. Am I, am I wrong about that?
- 3:12Yeah, they're technically in. Iowa.
- 3:15Iowa. OK, I got it.
- 3:18I got it. So Jabba's over there at Iowa.
- 3:22No, I'm just kidding. Omaha, NE at the College World
- 3:25Series. It's going to be fun tonight.
- 3:27We might get some special guests.
- 3:29So definitely stay tuned. I'm sure a lot of fans out there
- 3:34that's never begone to the College World Series or never
- 3:37experienced the College World Series.
- 3:39Well, hopefully you'll get a chance to see some of the young
- 3:42guys, the young fans out there that love baseball and love
- 3:46Jabba Chamberlain. Maybe Jabba will sign a couple
- 3:48autographs and and get to meet some of the future MLB
- 3:52superstars that are going to star at the College World Series
- 3:56this coming year. Very, very interesting.
- 3:58And by the way, it is, it's humid here in Long Island, New
- 4:01York. It's 84° and tonight the high
- 4:05will be around 80°. So very humid, very sticky, very
- 4:09disgusting. I don't like this time of year.
- 4:12I don't like this weather, Speedy, you know, I don't like
- 4:15this weather. It's absolutely horrendous.
- 4:17And I'm actually experiencing earbuds in my ear.
- 4:22So as you see, you're not going to see during the show.
- 4:25I've been dealing with some sound problems, so I will be
- 4:29wearing for now on moving forward ear pieces, ear buds for
- 4:34the rest of my life during this show because I don't want to
- 4:36blow my eardrums. There could be a lot of
- 4:38screaming, a lot of craziness, but I, I just want to tell
- 4:42everybody you're not going to miss anything.
- 4:44I probably miss a couple of sounds and you know, peeps
- 4:48during the show because I'm not going to be able to hear it.
- 4:50But nevertheless, I am again happy to be here.
- 4:54This will be my final show until I come back from my vacation on
- 4:58Monday and Thursday next week. I will be on vacation.
- 5:01I will be on a cruise. You might hear me, you know, pop
- 5:04in maybe once or twice. It depends on if I have
- 5:08reception on my cruise ship. But nevertheless, I have fish
- 5:12standing in for me, Jabba standing in obviously as always
- 5:16and speedy. So it'll be a fun show still
- 5:18great guests and and great content.
- 5:20It's just going to be a little bit without me for the whole
- 5:23week. So I want to apologize to the
- 5:24fans, but it is what it is. The Pacers last night beat the
- 5:29Thunder 116 to one O 7 in game #3 to take a 21 lead in the NBA
- 5:35Finals. The Pacers outscored the Thunder
- 5:3732 to 18 in the fourth quarter and the Thunder did not hit a
- 5:41single three pointer the entire fourth quarter.
- 5:45Tyrese Halbern had nearly a triple double with a 24 point
- 5:50game, 9 rebound and 11 assists. Shy or Shay, whichever way you
- 5:55want to pronounce his name, had 24 points, only the second time
- 6:00in the last ten playoff games he has scored under 30 points.
- 6:04The Pacers bench outscored the Thunder 45 to 18, led by 27
- 6:09points of Benedict. How do you pronounce his name?
- 6:13Mathuran Math Erin I like math Erin Like urine.
- 6:21Math urine. I like that throughout the NBA,
- 6:24throughout NBA history, teams that win game three of the NBA
- 6:29Finals win the series 80% of the time.
- 6:32Well, I know a lot of OKC fans were not excited watching,
- 6:36excited to watch that game as Shy Alexander or Shy Alexander
- 6:40did not have one of his better games.
- 6:43Nevertheless, you can't depend on your best player to just pull
- 6:46out all the stops. The Pacers right now have the
- 6:50better bench, they have the more depth.
- 6:52And you're seeing why the Pacers went through the Eastern
- 6:54Conference, going through the Cavaliers, going through the
- 6:57Knicks and doing what they did in the two rounds that a lot of
- 7:01people thought they were obviously outmatched and must,
- 7:05must I, I guess you could say much lesser of a team than the
- 7:09Knicks and the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers obviously were
- 7:12their number one seed in the East and the Knicks were the
- 7:14number three seed in the Eastern Conference.
- 7:17The Pacers trailed obviously the Knicks, the Celtics and the
- 7:22Cavaliers as they were the fourth seed.
- 7:24Now I'll say this, the Pacers were expected to be good the
- 7:27second-half of the season. They were one of the hottest
- 7:29teams in all the basketball the last three weeks, I think they
- 7:32only lost two games. So we expected this.
- 7:35I did not expect them to roll right through the Cavaliers the
- 7:39way they did, even rolling through the New York Knicks like
- 7:41they did. And that right now up two to one
- 7:44against an OKC Thunder team that won 60 semi games this year and
- 7:48was one of the more dominant teams at home we have seen in a
- 7:52very, very long time. They lost the game.
- 7:54OKC lost the first game of the series against Tyrese
- 7:58Halliburton. Unbelievable shot with five
- 8:00seconds left of the game. And that, I believe has hurt OK
- 8:05C and their confidence, OK C should be should have went in to
- 8:10Indianapolis, up two games to none and now they're trailing 2
- 8:14games to 1. You, you look at the situation
- 8:17where the Pacers are now, the Pacers are definitely in the
- 8:21driver's seat. They have a tremendous talent
- 8:23like Tyrese Halliburton. They're getting offense from all
- 8:26different parts of the court. I I mean, like we just said,
- 8:29Mathurin, he has been up and down throughout the last couple
- 8:33of series. There are games that he shows up
- 8:35and then there are games that he's really just considered a
- 8:38rebounder or a guy that uses, they use them as another body,
- 8:42as a 6th or 7th guy off the bench.
- 8:44But he has been sensational. He's added some depth to this
- 8:47lineup. And I'll say this, Topping, OB
- 8:50Topping, who was supposed to be my third in that game, has been
- 8:53less of a man in this series against OKC.
- 8:56Maybe because OKC is just as athletic as they are and the
- 9:00athleticism didn't work like it worked with the New York Knicks.
- 9:04Nevertheless, they're getting offense from all different parts
- 9:08of this Pacer team. Even Naismith, who really has
- 9:11been a big factor in their offense throughout the last
- 9:15couple of series, has not really had a good series against OK C.
- 9:19This is a guy that was one of the best 3 point shooters in the
- 9:22NBA all season long and you saw what he did against the Knicks.
- 9:25I think if I'm not mistaken, in game #1 and even in game #2 the
- 9:29way he was shooting, he's not shooting that way in this
- 9:32series. And they're getting A, again,
- 9:34offense from places besides Tyrese Halliburton, from other
- 9:38players that are not those type of players.
- 9:41So it's been amazing to watch with the Pacers.
- 9:44I'm not going to take shots at them.
- 9:45I don't like Tyrese Halliburton. I don't think any Knick fan
- 9:48likes Tyrese Halliburton. But you can't disrespect a
- 9:52person that is one of the more talented long guards we have
- 9:56seen in a very long time. We fought this and I'll say
- 9:59this, if you remember Lonzo Ball, when he came out of the
- 10:02draft, Lonzo Ball was 6 foot 6A point guard that could pass.
- 10:07He wasn't as good a shooter as Tyrese Halpern.
- 10:10Tyrese Halpern wasn't a good shooter when he came out of the
- 10:13draft. He was a defensive player that
- 10:15could pass the ball and rebound because of his length and his
- 10:17ability to do the things that he does very, very well.
- 10:20He's become a better shooter in the NBA.
- 10:22He's become a better offensive player in the NBA and you see
- 10:26the talent that he is. Why Sacramento decided to pass
- 10:29up on him and trade them to Indiana, I don't know.
- 10:32I don't I, I can't question the GM and obviously what Sacramento
- 10:37has done over the years ruining their team, they send Fox to San
- 10:41Antonio for but with a bag of really for a bag of balls.
- 10:44So I, I don't get that organization.
- 10:47Nevertheless, they could you could you imagine Sacramento at
- 10:50one point had Tyrese Halliburton and D Aaron Fox as their guards.
- 10:55Now the Aaron Fox is playing for San Antonio as their starter and
- 10:58Tyrese Halpern's the starting point guard for the Indiana
- 11:02Pacers and right now could win an NBA championship, something
- 11:04the Indiana Pacers have never done.
- 11:07But again, you look at this series and you kind of you kind
- 11:11of wonder how is it that the Indiana Pacers are out
- 11:15rebounding this OK C Thunder, an OK C Thunder team that has dart
- 11:20one of the best big, I would say big forwards in the NBA right
- 11:24now. He has been sensational all
- 11:26season long. Very good rebounder.
- 11:29You have Hartstein. We all know what he was when
- 11:32with with the New York Knicks when healthy.
- 11:34He adds that grit. He adds that rebounding
- 11:36opportunity off the board. Offensive, good, offensive
- 11:40rebounder, good defensive player in the, you know, in the paint.
- 11:44And then the talent that they have.
- 11:46You would have thought OK, C Thunder would run through the
- 11:50Indiana Pacers because the Indiana Pacers don't have any
- 11:53secondary players. Well, ladies and gentlemen, if
- 11:55anybody thought that, then you don't know basketball.
- 11:58And I can honestly say for a person that respects basketball
- 12:01and loves basketball, I didn't really think Indiana had this
- 12:04type of team. I thought they adapt, but I just
- 12:08didn't think they were going to get the offense that they needed
- 12:10from those secondary players to compete with the OKC Thunder.
- 12:14Now, maybe OKC is not playing the way they thought they should
- 12:18be playing in this series, High fast pace, but that has a lot to
- 12:22do with Rick Carlisle and his coaching and in slowing
- 12:25everything down. You would have thought the way
- 12:27the Pacers like to play, they like to play running gun.
- 12:30But really, if you've watched this series so far in the first
- 12:34three games, I think the Pacers have slowed down the pace.
- 12:37They let the pace go their way and and that that's I think is
- 12:41the difference of the series, the pace, the speed of these
- 12:45games that you would have thought it was been just just so
- 12:47fast and such an offensive series.
- 12:50Now you're watching it and it really isn't that much of an
- 12:53offensive series. You see an up and down in the
- 12:56series 116 one O 7 is not an offensive series.
- 12:59I mean we've seen OKC score 130 a couple of times in the
- 13:03playoffs. So you would expect that this
- 13:06this series would be a high scoring series the way.
- 13:09But I saw, but I think it's been it's been 1/4 or the other,
- 13:13right? Like because we see. 1/2 or the
- 13:15other quarters? Yeah, but it's been quarters
- 13:18too, but it's it has. Been 1/2 quarter were the
- 13:20dominant ones for the Pacers and that was the biggest key.
- 13:25I think you when you look at the defense in the those of those
- 13:28quarters as well, 18 points total.
- 13:30And like you were saying, Harold, No 3 pointers allowed in
- 13:32the entire fourth quarter. They outscored him by double
- 13:35digits in the second quarter. And the bench defense I think
- 13:38was even more impressive than the bench offense in that game.
- 13:40Like you said, like they have the third who scored 27 points.
- 13:43Nobody else really did a lot OB top in eight points.
- 13:45He did have a lot of rebounds though and played good defense.
- 13:47And you look at guys like Nemhard, who's been a threat
- 13:50against the Knicks in the past two.
- 13:52Eight points in that game. Nesma 7.
- 13:54Nemhardt is not a good offensive player.
- 13:56You're seeing a guy that can defend multiple positions and he
- 13:59was a thorn in Jaylen Bronson's ass and he's been a thorn of Shy
- 14:03Alexander, Shay Alexander in this series so far because
- 14:06they've they've moved the perimeter, the point guards and
- 14:09the defense on the perimeter on Shy Alexander and you've seen
- 14:12the difference. It's been really crazy to think
- 14:15that Rick Carlisle, who is a great head coach, he's
- 14:18sensational. He's one of the best defensive
- 14:20minds I've seen in a very long time in the NBA.
- 14:24He reminds me a lot like Pat Riley.
- 14:25Anybody remember Pat Riley when he caught while you weren't
- 14:28alive? Speedy for the Lakers, but with
- 14:29the Knicks. He was in Miami at the end.
- 14:31Of the season, but we were with the Knicks and the way he he
- 14:33built that defense and built that that perimeter defense that
- 14:37the Knicks really played with John Starks and even with
- 14:40Charlie Ward. And then they brought in Chris
- 14:42Childs after obviously Patrick Pat Riley left and Jeff Van
- 14:45Gundy took over. The way he liked to play that
- 14:48defense on the perimeter and press and make the other guys in
- 14:52the inside beat them. Now you're watching what Rick
- 14:54Carlisle's really done. Shy Alexander, Shay Alexander,
- 14:58the only way he could score points now is getting into the
- 15:01paint and getting beaten up. And that is what they did to the
- 15:04Knicks. That's what they did to Carl
- 15:06Anthony Towns and that's what they did to Jaylen Bronson.
- 15:08And now, ladies and gentlemen, they're doing the same thing to
- 15:11Shay Alexander. And also, you look at the way
- 15:13they were calling fouls at the beginning of the game, and you
- 15:15could tell that game was going to get kind of chippy, too.
- 15:17And you saw, OK, C still shoot a lot of threes.
- 15:19And that's all that. In the first quarter, they made
- 15:21a bunch of them. But throughout the rest of the
- 15:22game, they really didn't. I think they they made five of
- 15:25their first seven shots or something like that.
- 15:26And then since then it really fell off for them.
- 15:28They still shot 45% for the game, which is good.
- 15:30But like in general, like you can't live by the three die by
- 15:34the three philosophy when you have an OKC team that has that
- 15:36much inside depth that they should have with Jalen Williams
- 15:39and Chet Holmgren. Holmgren finally played well in
- 15:41the series. He struggled the first two
- 15:42games, but 20 and 10, but still they didn't get a lot after
- 15:46that. Hartenstein was a non factor.
- 15:48A lot of their bench players, their bigs, their forwards that
- 15:51they should have a size advantage with over the Pacers
- 15:53were a non factor because they haven't Like Thomas, Bryant is
- 15:56like they're one big man off the bench.
- 15:57We've been saying this, Holmgren is the most important piece for
- 16:01this offense to really start to pick up the pace.
- 16:04Holmgren doesn't pick up the pace.
- 16:05They're not winning this series. Why do you think Holmgren is the
- 16:08biggest piece? Well.
- 16:09Because of his size, his length, his ability to go up and down
- 16:12the court, the way he shoots the ball, he is a good three-point
- 16:15shooter. He could get into the paint and
- 16:17draw fouls and he's a good free throw shooter.
- 16:19So he gives you that, that dual threat you need offensively to
- 16:23really compete beat against teams that are very athletic,
- 16:26like the Pacers. Holmgren is that guy that you
- 16:29you get third or an 1/3 offensive style of game from
- 16:33him. Your own.
- 16:34You're impossible to beat. You look at Williams.
- 16:37Williams up and down. But Williams is their second
- 16:39guy. Without without home.
- 16:41Grim scoring. Where's your second your third
- 16:44dairy offense coming? Where's your 4th type of offense
- 16:48coming from? Dart.
- 16:50Dort is more like a streaky shooter.
- 16:52Yeah, streaky shooter is more of a defensive rebounding type of
- 16:55guy. He's not a guy that's going to
- 16:57get you a consistent 20 points a game.
- 17:00If he has a good game, he gives you 1617 and 8 to 9 rebounds.
- 17:04That's the type of player Dort is.
- 17:06They don't have that third style of offense that we've seen other
- 17:10teams look. Look at the Cavaliers when they
- 17:12were dominant. They got that third style of
- 17:14offense from who? Kevin Love when?
- 17:17Remember the Miami Heat? Where did Miami get that third
- 17:20offense from? They got it from Chris Bosh.
- 17:22If you look at all the teams that dominated, look, look at
- 17:26last year, the Celtics when they won the number one guy
- 17:29throughout the playoffs was really Tatum.
- 17:31And then it was Brown. In the in the Finals, it was
- 17:33Brown, then Tatum. And who's that third guy?
- 17:36Porzingis. When you get that offense for
- 17:39Porzingis, you're going to win. So, and you saw that in that
- 17:42series against the Knicks. Porzingis wasn't healthy.
- 17:44They weren't getting that third offense.
- 17:46You're not going to depend on White.
- 17:47You're not going to win with White.
- 17:49You need that other offensive player and you don't have it.
- 17:53And Holgren is, if he's not doing anything on the offensive
- 17:57side of the ball, they're not winning.
- 17:58And, and I think I believe Rick Carlisle knows that and he's
- 18:02he's really forcing it out of Holgren to figure out what his
- 18:06his offensive woes are in this series, which is basically the.
- 18:08Comparison. Every player is described, yes.
- 18:10He does, and he's going to get. He deserve a raise.
- 18:12He's going to get a raise. Look at what he's done.
- 18:15I look, that's why they pay this guy and he should be getting the
- 18:18big bucks soon even if they don't come through in this
- 18:20series. I can't believe how brilliant
- 18:23it's been on defense by the Pacers.
- 18:26To me, it's about the Pacers defense.
- 18:28You realize they turned them over 19 times and this team was
- 18:31a team that averaged 11.7 turnovers per game in the league
- 18:36that that's what made them special is they didn't turn the
- 18:38ball over they they had. I mean what did Shay have?
- 18:416 turnovers. 6 turnovers. Yeah, and only four assists.
- 18:44And four assists. I think he's only that's defense
- 18:47bro. I don't even think he had 6
- 18:48turnovers in any one of these games throughout the playoffs.
- 18:52That's his biggest as bad as he's ever going to play, right?
- 18:54So they got that game, they got it at home, but it's about the
- 18:58defense to me. On Chet, it was Myles Turner
- 19:02that they decided to put on Chet.
- 19:04You know, Chet's really kind of the power forward.
- 19:07They ended up not being able to play Hardenstein at all.
- 19:09I don't know what it was about the rotation or the way he's
- 19:12playing or the matchups. They couldn't keep him on the
- 19:15floor, so they ended up having to play kind of a small ball.
- 19:19And now you have Turner on Chet. And Turner's got longer arms
- 19:23than Chet. He doesn't get the size
- 19:25advantage on Turner and he swatted the shit out of them.
- 19:28And it was, there were a lot of really lazy plays that you just
- 19:32don't see. And we've seen the Pacers do it.
- 19:35I mean, as a Knicks fan, and we watched this series very
- 19:38closely. Last series they did that to.
- 19:41I mean, I, I would say Brunson had more success at times than
- 19:45what Shay did in this game. I think Shay's been pretty good
- 19:48before. I think if you push Shay around,
- 19:51if you push him around, he gets off his spots and he's
- 19:54uncomfortable. Jayla Brunson is going to go at
- 19:56you, he's going to go at you. He's going to go at you until he
- 20:00eventually beats you. He's a different player.
- 20:02Shay, if you get into his head and we've seen players like
- 20:05this, he's not Kobe Bryant. He is not that type of player.
- 20:09He's more of a Kyrie Irving. That's what he is.
- 20:12If you could get into Kyrie Irving's head, Kyrie Irving
- 20:14doesn't have those explosive games you can get.
- 20:17How do you do that? You push him around, you put him
- 20:19into positions where he's uncomfortable shooting the ball
- 20:23or even going to the hole and, and.
- 20:25By the way, what they have done in this series against Shay is
- 20:28pretty, it's pretty remarkable. Shay is one of the best 3 point
- 20:31shooters in the NBA right now. Why are they not hitting three
- 20:34pointers? Including him, especially in
- 20:36that game and game #3 is because they pressed him.
- 20:39They made him get into the paint and they make him do things that
- 20:44he is not comfortable doing. That teams have made him
- 20:47comfortable all season. Setting, setting up shop behind
- 20:51the line where he's shooting and chucking up threes.
- 20:54That's the NBA and that's the way the NBA BA is.
- 20:56I think Indiana has become that old style defensive team that
- 21:00we've seen over the years that have been dominant in the 80s
- 21:03and the 90s where you're pressing and you're making these
- 21:06guys do things that they're not comfortable doing and that's
- 21:09what Indiana is doing right now. It's been pretty remarkable how
- 21:13good they've been defensively. I have been shocked, shocked on
- 21:17the way they've handled this offensive side of OK C, who
- 21:21again has one of the best offensive players we've seen in
- 21:25the last 20 years. He's really that good of a
- 21:28player. And when you hold him up to 24
- 21:30points and what did they say last year, if you hold Jayson
- 21:33Tatum to 23 points, you have a chance to win a game.
- 21:36So, and the same thing happened with the Knicks.
- 21:39What are the what was the thing the Knicks fought in their
- 21:41heads? If we could keep Jason Tatum,
- 21:43Tatum, Tatum at Bay and let Jaylen Brown beat us, we're
- 21:47going to win that game 90% of the time.
- 21:49So, and that's what they're doing right now to this team.
- 21:52Holmgren, who's not to Chad Holgren is not scoring.
- 21:56He's not doing the things offensively you want him to do.
- 21:59And Shay Alexander, if he scores 2425 points, it's a win for the
- 22:04Pacers. Yeah, you were.
- 22:05I was talking about it when we're doing the Knicks in the
- 22:06Pacer series, how they were using kind of 1/2 press defense
- 22:09on Jalen Brunson, making it hard for him to get even close to the
- 22:12three-point line. And there were a couple of near
- 22:14back court violations that were that were called or not called.
- 22:18I think it's a little bit of approach different on shy where
- 22:20they're kind of like going blanketing the perimeter and
- 22:22make it very difficult for him to shoot the threes.
- 22:24And if they do let him in, making him take tougher mid
- 22:27range shots, not letting him drive to the hoop and draw those
- 22:29fouls. Obviously they were joking about
- 22:31the the Timberwolves standard together, guys talking about the
- 22:33foul merchants and how he's baiting fouls.
- 22:35The Pacers are not letting him do that either to the same
- 22:37extent. And Shy was still trying to draw
- 22:38the contact in the beginning in game and not getting the same
- 22:40level of calls. And then eventually it forced
- 22:42him to take a lot of tougher mid range shots or just mid range
- 22:45shots in general that were open that are just lower probability
- 22:48as a whole, not letting him shoot the threes.
- 22:50And as a result, I think the rest of the team lost confidence
- 22:52in shooting the threes, especially when Shy was out of
- 22:54the game. Their bench was outscored badly
- 22:56and the Pacers perimeter defense collectively deserves a lot of
- 22:59credit for that. And Rick Carlisle too, just
- 23:01changing his defensive approach and never letting him
- 23:03comfortable. The MVP of this series is Rick
- 23:05Carlisle. That's who the MVP of the series
- 23:08is. It's not Hal Burton.
- 23:10It's not any of these guys, not OB Topping, not any one of the
- 23:14guys. I think they're the MVP of the
- 23:18Indiana Pacers. And if Indiana wins the NBA
- 23:20championship for the first time of this team's existence, it
- 23:24should go to head coach Rick Carlisle.
- 23:27He has been that good, that good.
- 23:29Well, the MVP of Game 3 is this guy right here.
- 23:33Benedict Math Fury. Nice who?
- 23:38Math Put. Up.
- 23:39You're almost, almost a record of points off the bench. 27
- 23:44points in 22 minutes. Sam Cassell is the only person
- 23:47in the finals game with more points off the bench in the for
- 23:51the Rockets in 95. He played more minutes than that
- 23:5327 and 22 is outrageous. He was ugliest.
- 23:58Head you'll ever see I'm I'm just speaking to Julius.
- 24:02He looks, yes, he looks like an alien.
- 24:04Sam Cassell looks like an alien. That's what he looks like.
- 24:07As a matter of fact, his nickname was the alien over
- 24:10there with the Houston Rockets. That's what they used to call
- 24:12him. He.
- 24:13It's true. Who's that?
- 24:15Well, who's that alien cartoon character?
- 24:18I forget what TV show or cartoon it was.
- 24:21You see this little alien flying around?
- 24:23He's like a little ball. I, I, I, I I don't.
- 24:26I have to look that up. I don't know cartoons, but I
- 24:28remember them. Is it like Aqua Teen Hunger
- 24:31Force? Well, was it?
- 24:32How long ago? How long ago?
- 24:34I don't know. It was in the 90s.
- 24:35I I don't remember, but it was it, I don't know if it was the
- 24:38Jetsons, It was something, the Jetsons, The Jetsons remember
- 24:41the Jetsons. Jetsons like the 60s cartoons.
- 24:44Yeah, but it was when I was a kid.
- 24:46The Jetson movie came out in the in the 80s.
- 24:49I was a Jetsons fan. I loved it.
- 24:52I like I wasn't a cartoon fan, but I like T man.
- 24:55I like Thundercats and I like the Jetsons.
- 24:57I liked all the Disney movies. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.
- 25:00Remember that I I was when I was a kid, I used.
- 25:03To, like, love the rescue Rangers.
- 25:04Yeah, I used to watch that. Too love DuckTales, Alvin,
- 25:07Seyvan and Theodore. Wow, now DuckTales.
- 25:11No DuckTales. Are we talking about the best?
- 25:13Was the guy that the Scrooge Mcduck with the vault of gold
- 25:16that he goes swimming in? Remember that?
- 25:18Well, Chip, kids these days don't remember that stuff.
- 25:21Chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers was different.
- 25:23I don't think it's Alvin, Simon, Theodore that was Chipmunks.
- 25:27That was the Chipmunks, as Scoops was telling me over there
- 25:29in the back. Same crap.
- 25:30No, it's not. It's not the same crap.
- 25:32It was different. Chip and Dale.
- 25:34Chip, Chip and Dale. And we know you love Chip and.
- 25:37Dales, I do wow. I listen, I I could have been a
- 25:40Chip and Dale dancer. I mean, I'm not going to lie to
- 25:42you, but. No, you could not have what?
- 25:44No chance. Really.
- 25:45I I could no shot. What?
- 25:47You don't think I could dance like that?
- 25:50You don't think I could dance like that?
- 25:52You don't think I could dance like that?
- 25:54Huh. Well, I mean, doesn't Vinny from
- 25:55Jersey Shore do it so? You know Vinny, Vinny has
- 25:58nothing on me. OK.
- 26:00I could guarantee you think if it was between you and Vinny
- 26:03from Jersey Shore. 100 percent, 100%, no problem.
- 26:06I would kick his ass. I would kick his ass.
- 26:08I would absolutely burn him. Any any of our listeners burn
- 26:12him, Get get get his. I would absolutely burn him
- 26:16100%. I'm not even trying anybody that
- 26:19see me dance. I'll go out anytime job if he's
- 26:23if he doesn't trust that I could do that any day any.
- 26:27Time to be careful when the fist pump comes out.
- 26:30I don't do fist pumps. That's a lot.
- 26:31I don't do. Any I don't do.
- 26:34Fist pumps. I don't do any of that stuff.
- 26:36ESPN reports that the Knicks targeted several coaches
- 26:40currently under contract with our other teams but got rejected
- 26:45by 5 different occasions. The Mavericks, the Rockets, the
- 26:48Bulls, the Hawks, the Timberwolves all denied the
- 26:51Knicks to interview requested coaches that they wanted to
- 26:55interview. Rick Pitino, Dan Hurley and Jay
- 26:58Wright also said they are not interested in the Knicks
- 27:02coaching job. The Athletic Sam Emic reports
- 27:05that Formers, former Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and
- 27:10former Kings head coach Mike Brown are high considerations
- 27:14for the New York Knicks, the New York Post says.
- 27:18Or Stefan, I'm sorry. Stefan Bondi reports that Mike
- 27:22Malone is still an option for the Knicks, but considers it
- 27:25more a long of a shot. The New York Daily News reports
- 27:31that Johnny Bryant is still a top candidate for the Knicks,
- 27:34despite Jenkins and Browns now being a betting favorite.
- 27:38Charles Oakley called the Knicks the stupidest people in the
- 27:42world for firing Tom Thibodeau without a real plan.
- 27:46I do believe the New York Knicks have a real plan.
- 27:50I don't know why anybody thinks differently.
- 27:52I know everybody sitting here right now and thinking, hey, the
- 27:55Knicks reached out to Jay Wright or Danny Hurley or Rick Pitino.
- 27:59The only reason why they reached out to them is because they're
- 28:02considered New York guys. They're from this area.
- 28:05And we all know Pitino actually had this job.
- 28:08Danny Hurley's from Connecticut, he grew up a Knick fan.
- 28:11So. And Jay Wright, the Villanova
- 28:13Knicks, you have all these Villanova players, so you would
- 28:15have thought, I didn't think Jay Wright was coming out of
- 28:18retirement. There was no chance he was doing
- 28:20that. As far as the other teams like
- 28:22Jason Kidd, if Jason Kidd was available to interview with the
- 28:25Knicks, he'd probably get the job because the Knicks are
- 28:28trying to get Giannis. So I don't believe that The
- 28:33Mavericks will give the Knicks an opportunity to interview
- 28:35Jason Kidd because they have control of where they believe
- 28:39Jason Kidd should go. So I, I don't, I didn't think
- 28:42Billy Donovan, he's from this area, is from Long Island, New
- 28:45York. I didn't think if the Knicks
- 28:47really wanted a New York, Long Island guy, you should have went
- 28:50after Kenny Atkinson last offseason.
- 28:53He was the best available coach. He went to the Cavaliers.
- 28:56Now he fell short obviously against this Indiana Pacer team.
- 29:00Nevertheless, he had a had a great season.
- 29:01He had one of the best records in the league.
- 29:03This coach search. I do not want Mike Brown.
- 29:07Stay the hell away from Mike Brown.
- 29:09I do not want him. I've seen him enough with the
- 29:11Cavaliers. I've seen him enough over there
- 29:13with Sacramento. If you want to go after a guy
- 29:16like Taylor Jenkins, he's an interesting guy.
- 29:19He did a very good job over there with the Grizzlies.
- 29:21The Grizzlies should have never fired him.
- 29:23But again, the guy that I'm looking at is Johnny Bryant and
- 29:27I think that is the guy the Knicks are obviously staring at
- 29:32and and believe they're going to get now they're going to.
- 29:34Everybody thinks that the Knicks are stupid.
- 29:36And even if the Knicks go with Johnny Bryant, the Knicks are
- 29:39still going to look like a bunch of idiots because they went to
- 29:41the Eastern Conference finals. They fired the coach that got
- 29:44them there. They've had the best record, the
- 29:46teams that had for the last five years than their existence over
- 29:50the last 25 years. They've made run after run in
- 29:53the playoffs and fell short going as further as far as
- 29:56they've gone on this this this season.
- 29:59And now you're going into an offseason where you're
- 30:01questioning where do they go? Do they go at a veteran coach
- 30:04like Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins or Mike Brown?
- 30:07Or do you go after the rookie and and bring in a Johnny Bryan
- 30:10where a lot of people are going to be questioning why didn't you
- 30:13just fire Tom Thibodeau and hire Johnny Bryan?
- 30:16Why are you waiting this long to make the hire?
- 30:18It makes the Knicks look like a stupid organization because
- 30:21everybody knows they've targeted a bunch of coaches.
- 30:24They wanted to interview for the job, but they already know who
- 30:27they were going to hire. Mike Malone.
- 30:29It doesn't seem like was the guy, because if Mike Malone was
- 30:32the guy, they would have hired him already.
- 30:35It seems like Johnny Bryan is the guy that they're going to
- 30:38hire, but right now what they're trying to do is interview guys.
- 30:43So it doesn't look like the Knicks didn't have a plan.
- 30:47But now they look like they didn't have a plan and they're
- 30:50still going to hire Johnny Bryant and they're going to look
- 30:52like an idiot organization because they parted ways with a
- 30:55coach that got him to the Eastern Conference finals.
- 30:57None of this makes any sense. And what is the New York Post
- 31:00doing? What are all these newspapers
- 31:03doing in magazines riding the New York Knicks, the Daily News?
- 31:07What they're doing is they're making the Knicks look like 1/2
- 31:10assed organization run by a guy like James Dolan who's been made
- 31:14fun of saying that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing.
- 31:16He doesn't know the position and staying away from the position
- 31:20as an owner to a GM. He has Leon Rose, who's been
- 31:23getting a lot of the praise. But now when the team is not
- 31:27doing or didn't do what they were supposed to do with the
- 31:29team that they put together this offseason with Carl Anthony
- 31:32talents and Michael Bridges, they didn't go to the Finals
- 31:35when they had the best chance to get to that position.
- 31:38So right now, the Knicks are going to be the target of
- 31:41laughter the the target of jokes.
- 31:43Because right now, the Knicks have not made a higher and
- 31:47they're sitting here wondering if Johnny Bryant's the guy.
- 31:50Yeah, it's interesting because I think a lot of the coaches that
- 31:52they did inquire about from those other teams, probably
- 31:55we're not going to be higher end guys anyway.
- 31:57Like Quinn Snyder from the Hawks has not really done a lot since
- 32:00he's gotten to Atlanta. They've been a playing team at
- 32:02best. Belly Donovan.
- 32:04I like the at the time for the Bulls, it made sense, but he's
- 32:06been stuck in mediocrity. Not all their faults.
- 32:08I'm not saying that they're bad coaches.
- 32:09I'm not saying that they they couldn't succeed somewhere else,
- 32:11but they were not the ideal guys for the Knicks.
- 32:13Now if they could have pride one of the other three away with
- 32:16Udoka or Jason Kidd, something like that.
- 32:18They were never getting a doka. I don't think so either.
- 32:20There's no reason for Houston, A2 seed in the West this year, a
- 32:23young team, to give the Knicks what they want.
- 32:25There's no reason for Dallas to give them what they want, even
- 32:28though they're a dumb organization.
- 32:29And Minnesota just went to the Western Conference Finals, so
- 32:32there's no reason for any of those teams to do that.
- 32:34I don't mind and the Knicks trying to do that kind of thing,
- 32:36the whole process does seem a little far fetched for doing it
- 32:39that many times. A couple of coaches, yeah, I was
- 32:41hearing a Doka and Finch, if you just stopped there, okay, fine,
- 32:44that's different. But then doing it like that,
- 32:46yeah, it does delay the process. I agree with you on Mike Brown.
- 32:48I don't think he's really the type for this team As much I
- 32:51like him as a coach, I think he'll do should get a job
- 32:53somewhere else. They built this team much more
- 32:55on three and D guys and Mike Brown when he was in Sacramento
- 32:58was a more offensive driven team.
- 33:00When he was in Cleveland, they were much more offensive driven
- 33:02team. I don't think that type of team
- 33:04fits the Knicks as much. Do the Knicks need to play
- 33:06faster? Yes.
- 33:06Do the Knicks need to get better scoring consistently?
- 33:09Yes. I don't think that was the right
- 33:10idea. Jenkins I'm split on like he was
- 33:13the fallout really that bad with Memphis where he would be able
- 33:15to get an impact job right away? I'd like Jenkins.
- 33:18I would like Jenkins more than tail.
- 33:20I'm sorry. Taylor Jenkins over guys like
- 33:22Mike Brown. I would take him or even Mike
- 33:25Malone because Taylor Jenkins is still kind of a young guy.
- 33:29He's not an old gentleman. Mike Brown's getting up there in
- 33:32age. He's closer to 50.
- 33:35Obviously, we all know what Johnny Bryan is.
- 33:37I think Johnny Bryan's in his mid 40s.
- 33:39And again, Taylor Jenkins I think is there too.
- 33:42I think he's in his mid 40s. So you would want the younger
- 33:45guy, you want to bring in the younger guy.
- 33:47That could give you that that different outlook to your
- 33:50offense side of the ball. I also think that the defense
- 33:53they played throughout the playoffs did not work.
- 33:56It didn't work. And you're not going to beat
- 33:58Indiana that way. You're not going to beat the
- 34:00Cavaliers that way. If the Cavaliers were 100%
- 34:03healthy, maybe the Cavaliers, this would be the Cavaliers
- 34:06right now against the Thunder. So I'm just saying it.
- 34:09That's been the problem. And and that also has something
- 34:13to do with coaching. Kenny Atkinson ran that team up
- 34:16and down the court all season long.
- 34:18I think that got him tired. And then obviously you saw what
- 34:21happened that Darius Garland at the end of the season,
- 34:23throughout the playoffs, a guy that couldn't stay healthy and
- 34:26and has something to do with coaching.
- 34:28You got to bring in the right guy.
- 34:31The right guy has to fit the culture there.
- 34:34Johnny Bryant's been there before.
- 34:35He's worked on the Tom Thibodeau.
- 34:37He understands the defensive side of the ball.
- 34:39I think he'd be great over there for the New York Knicks.
- 34:42And he's done wonders for the Cavaliers, who went from, I
- 34:45think, ranked defensively 13th or 12th last year to one of the
- 34:49top three defenses in the league this year.
- 34:51Yeah, they were. One, they were I think the
- 34:52number one defense two years ago when they first hired Becker
- 34:55staff. But you're right, it's fallen
- 34:56off since then. But it was really their offense
- 34:57that was a mess. Cleveland over there.
- 34:59And I think that's the type of coaching going to need over here
- 35:01with the Knicks, somebody that could change their offensive
- 35:03culture. Bryant going over there would be
- 35:05that kind of thing because he was with Cleveland last year
- 35:07where they were the most efficient offense in the NBA
- 35:10last year. And that kind of thing I think
- 35:12is definitely encouraging when you need that two year window.
- 35:15The Knicks have the two year window now.
- 35:17You're right. Jenkins I think is a good
- 35:18culture guy too. He built organically a young
- 35:21Memphis Grizzlies team that they had those Grind City years and
- 35:24they had three bad years in a row.
- 35:26Then all of a sudden John Moran gets drafted.
- 35:27They're playoff team pretty quickly.
- 35:29And I think the Knicks, I don't know if it's going to be
- 35:32guaranteed to work there because while they all do have some good
- 35:34young players, they're still mostly a prime veteran team
- 35:36right now that has that two year window.
- 35:38So I do think Brian is still the approach you have to go to at
- 35:40this point. Jenkins, I do do like the only
- 35:43reason I don't like him as much. We've seen the Knicks fall off
- 35:45at the end of the season with Thibodeau, and we've seen
- 35:47Jenkins fall off at the end of the season with the.
- 35:48Grizzlies. There's got to be a New York
- 35:50background with one of these guys.
- 35:51Probably, again, that's where I think fish you're about to.
- 35:53Get to is it? Is it New York or younger or
- 35:56older? I, I think then I think the, the
- 35:59Knicks are middle-aged. They're middle-aged guys.
- 36:01I mean, right, I mean Jayla Bronson's 2829.
- 36:05And then you have guys like Josh.
- 36:08Hall So do you. So do you go younger?
- 36:10Do you go old? I think you go with a guy like
- 36:13Johnny Bryant. I think Johnny Bryant's been
- 36:14there before. He understands how he can run
- 36:17this offense in his defense. I think he understands the game
- 36:20and the and the way the new style of basketball is played.
- 36:24And I think if you have Johnny Bryant in this series, this past
- 36:27series against the Pacers, the Knicks probably make the Series
- 36:30A little bit more closer because he would be telling his guys
- 36:32like OG Nanobi and Mikhail Bridges.
- 36:34Fight through those picks. Fight through the picks.
- 36:37Don't shift in transition from one player to another to
- 36:41another. That doesn't work in the NBA.
- 36:43As you seen right now with the Pacers are doing to Shay
- 36:46Alexander. They have one guy sticking him
- 36:48on the perimeter. If it shifts to another side or
- 36:51he's moving up, they have a big man taking him.
- 36:54That's what they're doing. But they're doing it in such a
- 36:56good way where Shay Alexander doesn't understand how the
- 36:59rotation is working and he can't get those open 3 point shots
- 37:03that he's done over the last really for the last five years
- 37:07in the NBA. Java, to answer your question,
- 37:10when they hired Thibodeau initially, they needed that
- 37:12veteran coach to change the culture over there because they
- 37:14were rotating with Jeff Horn, a second David Fizdale and all
- 37:16those other guys. And they they tried to go for
- 37:18the flashier hires, younger coaches that seemed like they
- 37:20were up and coming and then they weren't.
- 37:22And then eventually, I guess just the message gets stale.
- 37:24And obviously we were talking about it last week.
- 37:26But when he did get fired, there were players in the exit
- 37:28interviews with Leon Rose that said that they didn't want to
- 37:31play for Thibodeau. They would have demanded a trade
- 37:33in the offseason. Whether it was heart, whether it
- 37:34was Bridges, whoever, it was like they can't have that kind
- 37:37of thing. Just it gets stale eventually.
- 37:38Same kind of thing with with Malone and the Nuggets.
- 37:40Like, I don't know how toxic it was with the individual players
- 37:43getting fired. Obviously it was a bad
- 37:44relationship with the GM, but they did well with their new
- 37:46coach. They embraced the new culture.
- 37:48And I think the Knicks are going to try that same kind of
- 37:49approach if they do hire Brian, which does seem like the
- 37:51direction they're going in. Or that's the way they're going.
- 37:53Yeah, 100%. There was a reason they still
- 37:55inquired about a lot of those younger coaches too.
- 37:58Like obviously Mike Brown is the exception of that rule in Quinn
- 38:00Snyder, but all the other coaches they inquired about from
- 38:03younger teams are younger coaches.
- 38:04So I do think that's the approach they want to take.
- 38:06They're not going with Taylor Jenkins.
- 38:08They're not going with Mike Brown.
- 38:09I know obviously the betting man will tell you that they're going
- 38:13to go with one of these guys. I think they're only saying that
- 38:17right now because everybody doesn't think that Johnny Bryant
- 38:20is the hot name. Nobody thinks, oh, you fired Tom
- 38:23Thibodeau for Johnny Bryant, who's never coached in the NBA
- 38:27before. Nobody likes that hire.
- 38:30But it seems like the more interesting hire out of all of
- 38:33this. You're going to bring in Mike
- 38:34Brown. That's an interesting hire.
- 38:36Nobody wants Mike Brown. I don't want to hear what he did
- 38:38with the Cavaliers. I don't want to hear about his
- 38:40background as an NBA head coach. He's not good.
- 38:43He wasn't good with Santa. Wasn't he there with Santa?
- 38:45No, he wasn't San Antonio and. He was an assistant in San.
- 38:48Antonio. He was an assistant in San
- 38:49Antonio. Golden State, He.
- 38:50Wasn't Golden State Golden State?
- 38:52That was where he was with Kenny Atkinson and all that other
- 38:55stuff. So I, I just, I don't think he's
- 38:58a good head coach And I, I, the hottest one out of all of this
- 39:01is Taylor Jenkins. But I don't think Taylor Jenkins
- 39:04has any background here in New York.
- 39:05I don't think he's going to New York.
- 39:07It makes a lot of sense what the Knicks are doing, even though
- 39:10they look stupid right now. They're going with Johnny
- 39:12Bryant's and it's not Mike Malone anymore.
- 39:14I thought it was Mike Malone. It's not going to be Mike
- 39:17Malone, because if it was going to be Mike Malone, they would
- 39:20have hired his ass already. Well, I like they're doing their
- 39:23due diligence and asking about literally everybody.
- 39:26That's people that are already have jobs.
- 39:28So even though it does look kind of ridiculous in the media to
- 39:32ask some, these teams are just like, no, of course you can't
- 39:34talk to Jason Kidd. No, of course you can't talk to
- 39:37Imei Udoka. No, that guy's a great coach.
- 39:39We're not getting rid of him. What are you talking about?
- 39:41Why are you even asking us? It's kind of ridiculous, but you
- 39:46got to find someone. It just I worry that they got
- 39:48rid of tips and they didn't really have a plan on who who
- 39:52does it. And whenever that happens, it
- 39:54makes me think this was a James Dolan decision and not a Leon
- 39:58Rose decision. Well, that's the same.
- 39:59Thing fish Dolan has done this a long time.
- 40:02Like why would you fire somebody and not have a backup?
- 40:05Because he's Dolan. Because he's Dolan.
- 40:07He's he's worried about singing the Blues with his band, you
- 40:11know, and an audience that he paid to be there, you know, and
- 40:15with a 2 drink minimum or something like that, he doesn't
- 40:17give a damn. He likes his teams to win,
- 40:19doesn't know how to do it, and then he medals and he always
- 40:22screws it up. I really hope he doesn't screw
- 40:24this up. I really want Taylor Jenkins.
- 40:27If it was me, I think want an offensive coach.
- 40:29Bryant's a defensive coach. I want to see offense.
- 40:32I want to see more than just Jalen ISO and then hope that
- 40:36they just have like that, that connection from Villanova days
- 40:39to make a good pass, which they do every once in a while.
- 40:42It's just not good enough. I think whoever it is they hire,
- 40:44Errol has to answer this question in the job interview.
- 40:48How do you hide Karl Anthony Towns on defense?
- 40:51Because the defensive system that Tom Thibodeau had exposed
- 40:55him, especially in the playoffs, because he's switching.
- 40:57Now you look, you're going to have to switch on a pick and
- 40:59roll. That's that's part of
- 41:00basketball. But you can't if you're going to
- 41:03switch every single guy and a coach like Carlisle is going to
- 41:07make you do that enough times to the point where Towns now has to
- 41:11step up on the perimeter. Now you look like an idiot.
- 41:14Or if Towns has to then rotate back, you know he's not going to
- 41:16rotate back fast enough. So you have to come up with a
- 41:19better defensive scheme. And I want to hear that as like
- 41:22the first order of business. How are you going to protect our
- 41:25not so great defensive big? And if the answer is I can't, I
- 41:30think you should trade them and this is what they should get.
- 41:33That's not maybe the wrong answer, but I would like to hear
- 41:36a real answer from somebody because they got to come in with
- 41:39that answer. I I agree with you.
- 41:41I think somebody's going to have to come in and come with an
- 41:44answer of Carl Anthony Towns. I still don't think Carl Anthony
- 41:47Towns is going to be a part of this team or this organization.
- 41:49I think that obviously the Knicks realize that Carl Anthony
- 41:53Towns is just going to be an offensive option and it doesn't
- 41:57work with Jalen Brunson on the court with him.
- 41:59So if you're going to get, if you're going to pay a guy 50
- 42:02something, $1,000,000 to come off the bench to give you that
- 42:04secondary offense to be on that second team, then you need to
- 42:08trade Karl Anthony Towns. I think Giannis is in in the
- 42:12play or in play for the New York Knicks.
- 42:14The question is, is Giannis going to like Jenkins?
- 42:17Is Giannis going to like Brian? Or is Giannis going to like any
- 42:21of these coaching options? Or do they wait, wait until the
- 42:26draft is over and they run and gun for Giannis, get Giannis and
- 42:30ask Giannis who he wants? So I, I don't, I don't know
- 42:33exactly how the Knicks are handling this, but I think they
- 42:36absolutely know where they're going.
- 42:39I don't know why anybody thinks differently.
- 42:41I know that's what everybody wants to cry about right now
- 42:44when it comes. To how would they know where
- 42:45they're going right now? Like, but what are you going to
- 42:48have to give up to get Giannis? Well, I don't know.
- 42:51And that's that has something to do with Leon Rose and I trust
- 42:54that Leon Rose will make the right decision.
- 42:57And by the way. That's the that's the same thing
- 42:59with the coach, though. It's like, if you're not going
- 43:01to bring him in, like what are you doing?
- 43:03I do not believe James Dolan has any involvement of this coach
- 43:09hire. I I really don't.
- 43:12Leon Rose has been taken over this team and this organization.
- 43:16I trust Leon Rose that he's going to make the right
- 43:18decision. Has he made the wrong decision?
- 43:20I don't think he has. He's made a lot of good
- 43:23decisions. So him deciding to part ways
- 43:25with Tom Thibodeau, I believe in Leon Rose.
- 43:28So you got to trust that he's making the right option for the
- 43:33team in the organization, where the team is going and where he
- 43:36believes this team should be next season.
- 43:39And if he thinks that Tom Thibodeau got him as far as he
- 43:43thought he can get them, he's the one who hired them.
- 43:46So why is everybody questioning what he did?
- 43:48It's not like he came to the team.
- 43:51Leon Rose came to the team and didn't hire Tom Thibodeau.
- 43:54Tom Thibodeau has been there as long as Leon Rose has been
- 43:57there. Leon Rose did what he needed to
- 43:59do to upgrade this team in this roster.
- 44:01It took him five years to do it. Now all of a sudden, because the
- 44:05Knicks fired Tom Thibodeau and they haven't hired anybody yet
- 44:09and all these other teams have told, have told the Knicks you
- 44:12can't. You can't interview this guy.
- 44:14He can't interview that guy. The Knicks are a stupid
- 44:16organization. They don't know what they
- 44:18they're doing and they should be ashamed of themselves.
- 44:21I'll tell you what, here's what I'm going to do for all you
- 44:24Knick fans that are talking all the crap on social media.
- 44:28If this doesn't work, if Leon Rose doesn't make the right
- 44:33decision and he decides, hey, I'm going to bring in Johnny
- 44:38Bryant or I'm going to bring in Mike Malone, or I'm going to
- 44:40bring in Taylor Jenkins, Whoever he decides to bring in, and this
- 44:43fails over the last five years when it hasn't, I will quit
- 44:50being a broadcaster. I will quit being a broadcaster
- 44:54because I believe in Leon Rose on everything that he has done
- 44:59over the last couple of years. And I am not questioning this
- 45:03man on his decision making on how he believes this team should
- 45:08be when it comes to rotational defense and how this team should
- 45:12be in secondary offense, which they have had none over the last
- 45:16couple of years. Because you got guys that you
- 45:18drafted like Kohlik and all these other French players that
- 45:22you've drafted over the last couple of years that you don't
- 45:24play enough and that you bring in campaign because Tom
- 45:28Thibodeau likes him. Give me a break.
- 45:32I trust Leon Rose, and you heard it from me today.
- 45:35Leon Rose fired Tom Thibodeau, whoever he brings in.
- 45:38I trust in Leon so much. I would give up broadcasting if
- 45:43he's wrong. Just be careful because I I was
- 45:46listening to Francesa and Mad Dog and Mad Dog swears that it
- 45:50was Dolan's fire and Francesa sweared it was Leon Rose.
- 45:56So nobody knows, just like always with the Knicks where the
- 45:59madness is coming from. Look, if it is Leon Rose, I, I
- 46:03agree with you, Errol. He's earned our trust with
- 46:06everything that he's done as, as the, as running the Knicks.
- 46:09The Knicks were in complete hell, cap hell.
- 46:12The I mean, do you remember the Phil Jackson days?
- 46:15I remember. How how terrible that was.
- 46:18Oh my God, the false hope of the Phil Jackson days and.
- 46:20Then we drafting Frank Nilikino. Remember that?
- 46:23Remember that guy? Frankie Nilikino, Remember that?
- 46:26Shoot the basketball. When they could have drafted the
- 46:28spider 3 picks away from that or no actually 5 picks away from
- 46:33that or something. It was 13 so.
- 46:35He Yeah, because he fell out of the top 10, right?
- 46:38Yes, I think he went 13 or 12. And then the and even before
- 46:42that with Isaiah Thomas, with all the just the disaster that
- 46:45he was, there was so many years and generations of it.
- 46:48I mean, you can go back to Scott Laden if you really.
- 46:50Want Donnie Walsh was good. Donnie Walsh was good.
- 46:53Yeah, except Donnie Walsh made a proposal to to LeBron to come to
- 46:56the Knicks while he was in a wheelchair and on a ventilator,
- 46:59and it was like one of the dumbest things anyone's ever
- 47:01done. I I can't forgive him for that,
- 47:05to be honest with you. I just, I'd never have that.
- 47:07Look the Knicks. It's a wide open E next year,
- 47:11Tatum. 'S house for the year.
- 47:13Hey, hold on. We we got a fan come in and this
- 47:17is going to be something that goes to Errol.
- 47:20He's a Steph Curry guy. Steph Curry.
- 47:24Let's hear it. I I really felt like if Steph
- 47:26Curry was healthy the Timberwolves were cooked
- 47:30personally as that's what I personally feel like because
- 47:33they cannot guard him and not the Houston Rockets.
- 47:36And even aunt said it. Aunt came out and said it in an
- 47:38interview. He was like if Steph playing
- 47:40would have a different story. He even knows he know what Steph
- 47:43is about. He hates Steph.
- 47:47The Timberwolves 37 year olds. Listen, nobody's taking away
- 47:53from Steph Curry's talents. We all know he's one of the best
- 47:56three. He has the best 3 point shooter
- 47:58we've ever seen in NBA history. I understand what you're saying
- 48:02about their If he was healthy, he would give them a little bit
- 48:05of a more of a jump offensively. Here's the reason why they were
- 48:09not going to win that series even if he was 100% healthy
- 48:12because the secondary offense that Steph Curry was getting
- 48:16even from Butler. Butler was not the same player
- 48:19this year when they made the trade and they brought him in
- 48:21from Miami. He wasn't he wasn't even 100%
- 48:24healthy and now they have to pay him because he is going.
- 48:28They just extended him for the next three years while two years
- 48:32they see sond a three-year deal. They're old.
- 48:35They're an old team. Draymond Green look at his
- 48:37beard. I mean besides him showing his
- 48:39private parts on social media, there is nothing I'm interested
- 48:42to see him on a basketball court anymore.
- 48:45There's no secondary offense. Yeah, you're going to talk about
- 48:48Caminga. Caminga is not very friendly
- 48:51with Steve Kerr. They tried to trade Caminga at
- 48:54the trade deadline, but nobody wanted him.
- 48:56And what the the Green Bay, the the, I'm sorry, the the Golden
- 49:00State Warriors wanted was a significant amount.
- 49:03They traded Andrew Well, they let Andrew Wiggins go, who gave
- 49:07him that depth. Defensively, they don't have any
- 49:09depth anymore. There's no Splash Brothers.
- 49:12This is not a young team. They're not.
- 49:14Nobody wants to go there anymore.
- 49:16That is a young star. As good as Steph Curry is.
- 49:19Steph Curry's an old man. He's 36 years old and he's not
- 49:23washed up. But the team is washed up, as
- 49:26we've been hearing over the last couple of months, the rumblings
- 49:30that Steve Kerr could step down this offseason.
- 49:33And if that happens, where do they go in their coaching
- 49:36searches? Are they going to go with Mike
- 49:38Brown? I know he's Steve Kerr's butt
- 49:40buddy. I mean, seriously, there is no
- 49:43way Golden State would have won and beat the Timberwolves in
- 49:48that series, even with a healthy Steph Curry.
- 49:51So whoever you are, what's your name, Sir?
- 49:52What's your name? What's his name?
- 49:55Jabo, What is his name? He's coming in.
- 49:57He he was just going to the bathroom.
- 49:59Oh, so he didn't hear my take on it.
- 50:01It's a it's. No, no, he heard it.
- 50:03No, he heard it. Who do we?
- 50:05Who do we have? What's your name, Sir?
- 50:08Does he hear us? Yeah.
- 50:10What's your take on What do you say, Golden State and what?
- 50:14He didn't hear what I had to say.
- 50:15That's all right. I heard some.
- 50:17Of it. Well, he can hear the replay.
- 50:19Most. Of it.
- 50:21The fact is is they wouldn't have won even with a.
- 50:23Healthy, but I can't hear them. It's okay to me, Steph Curry
- 50:30healthy, Steph Curry at 100% of Steph Curry at 80%.
- 50:34It wouldn't have mattered. Steph Curry would have scored
- 50:364550 sixty, it wouldn't have mattered.
- 50:39They don't have any secondary offense, not enough to get over
- 50:42the hump. It gets a team that had Julius
- 50:44Randall playing at the top of his game and and they're getting
- 50:48enough bench points from guys like Dante Divicenzo and then
- 50:52Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards is one of the
- 50:54most overrated playoff players we've seen in a long time.
- 50:57I'm not going to even argue about Anthony Edwards's talents.
- 51:02I'm sorry. Yeah, no, we're good.
- 51:04OK, so I, I just think that Steph Curry is not even at 100%.
- 51:10I don't think Steph Curry would have made a difference as far as
- 51:12them moving forward into the the playoffs.
- 51:15I just they're a team that needs to rebuild.
- 51:17They need to add some youth to that roster and they got to
- 51:20decide what they're what they're doing with Steph Curry.
- 51:23Because honestly, if I was Steph Curry, I would honestly know
- 51:26that I'm not going to win with Golden State.
- 51:28I look at other teams, I look at other.
- 51:31Teams. I know I got the gist of what he
- 51:33was saying before. Yeah.
- 51:35So can you hear me? Yeah.
- 51:37We hear you. So I heard what you said before
- 51:40about like them being old, and you're right about that.
- 51:43You know, Ace obviously factors into, you know, when you're
- 51:46getting a deep playoff and playing all along and stuff.
- 51:49But I feel like. They had a good enough team.
- 51:52I think it's not just the age. I think it's the coaching.
- 51:56I think it's the development. I feel like that the GM is not
- 51:58very good. I feel like he doesn't really
- 51:59like they don't know how to develop players.
- 52:02Like Flamingo is a very good player and they I didn't play
- 52:05them, but like the whole playoffs, they didn't play them
- 52:08until they started being in trouble with Minnesota.
- 52:10And then when they start playing them, it was too late.
- 52:12The dude was all cold and shit. And I was like, you know what?
- 52:16I feel like it's not so much the players, it's the it's the
- 52:19coaches and it's the the owners. Mike don't Olivia is not the
- 52:23best GM. I feel like.
- 52:25I feel like my Myers, he was very like he's intuitive.
- 52:28He was very like, he was better. He was way better at like
- 52:32grabbing players in and around Steph and like, like camaraderie
- 52:37was better. Draymond Green's a problem.
- 52:39I love him and I hate him. It's a love hate relationship
- 52:41with Draymond. I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 52:43I feel like if we had Draymond, if we had.
- 52:45Jordan Poole, we would have. Oh, stop it.
- 52:47You just lost. You just lost respect for me.
- 52:50Everything that you said, I was almost saying, wow, this guy
- 52:53knows what he's talking about. Then he brings up Jordan Poole.
- 52:55Stop with the Jordan Poole. Jordan Poole sucked.
- 52:58He was overrated. Came from what?
- 53:00He played for Michigan, right? He played for Michigan.
- 53:03I mean, he was a decent offensive player, got overpaid
- 53:06by the Golden State Warriors and you said Myers.
- 53:08If Myers was so good, why did he ditch the Golden State Warriors
- 53:12to go and be to go work for a baseball?
- 53:14Team. I'm sorry, a football team and
- 53:17he, he's a broadcaster now. He ditched the Golden State
- 53:19Warriors because he knew this team was going to fall flat on
- 53:22their face. That's why it happened.
- 53:24And you're going to give them all the compliment, All the
- 53:27compliments because he walked out on the Golden State Warriors
- 53:29when they were at the highest point.
- 53:30Get out of here. Golden State is a washed up team
- 53:33that's never going to win a championship again.
- 53:35It doesn't matter who they bring in in the offseason.
- 53:38This is an old team. And if I was Steph, I'm going to
- 53:41a younger team like an OKC Thunder, like a Rockets team
- 53:45where I have a chance to win multiple more times if I want to
- 53:48win more championships and be considered Kobe Bryant, not
- 53:51Michael Jordan, but maybe a Kobe Bryant in the future.
- 53:54Before we move on to the next topic, Wes actually has some CFL
- 53:57plays of a game that's about to start in 2 minutes, plus 3 1/2
- 53:59for Winnipeg. Anytime touchdown for wide
- 54:01receiver Joey Cochran and Chaz also has him for the first
- 54:04touchdown +4000. That's all I'm saying.
- 54:07I'm not taking shots at Steph Curry.
- 54:09I know everybody thinks I hate him.
- 54:10I don't. I'm not a big fan of his.
- 54:12I followed him coming out of Davidson.
- 54:15I wanted the Knicks to draft him.
- 54:16I just don't like his personality on a basketball
- 54:19court. He seems like a nice guy off the
- 54:21basketball court. I don't know him personally, and
- 54:24if I did, maybe I change my mind about him.
- 54:27I know Conor McGregor off the out of the Octagon.
- 54:29I met him a couple times. He's an ass.
- 54:32So I've, I've always thought I meant to be an asshole and I
- 54:35think he's an ass now after meeting him two or three times
- 54:38and dealing with his his agent and his team over there with the
- 54:42old Irish, Irish people, crazy, crazy people over there.
- 54:46So by the way, threaten my life. He can kiss my ass.
- 54:50He can kiss my ass. That's all I'm going to say.
- 54:52Speaking of kissing my ass, on the Bill Simmons Show, former
- 54:57NBAESPNNBA writer Chuck Klosterman compared Cooper Flag
- 55:03to deadlift Shrimp. I can't wait for this one.
- 55:06He says. Flag could make a few all NBA
- 55:10teams like Shrimp did but doesn't see him as a player that
- 55:15can dominate. He thinks that Flag Ceiling is
- 55:19the second best player on a good team and maybe a third best
- 55:24player on a good team. Shrimp was a three time All Star
- 55:28and an all NBA player and average 13.9 points per game,
- 55:336.2 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, 0.8 steals a
- 55:38game. Who the hell cares Speedy with
- 55:40all these stupid statistics? Flag was the National Player of
- 55:44the Year, averaging 19.2 points per Game, 7 .5 rebounds per
- 55:48game, and 4.2 assess per game. That's all the statistics I
- 55:53need. Speedy Flag has been compared to
- 55:57players like Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Garnett, Scottie Pippen
- 56:00and Tim Duncan by many NBA executives.
- 56:04And I'll tell you, I'm not an NBA executive.
- 56:06But you know who I compare him to?
- 56:08Kevin Durant. Here's the white Kevin Durant.
- 56:12I watched this kid play from 8th grade on.
- 56:15I've watched this guy develop all the way from Maine, and he
- 56:19has become one of the best players in the country in four
- 56:23years. We've been working on trying to
- 56:24get him on this show. We all know his capable talents.
- 56:28He went to Duke. Why did he go to Duke?
- 56:30Because Duke is one of the best collegiate schools in all of
- 56:34college basketball, and he got recruited by who?
- 56:38The greatest coach in college basketball history and Coach
- 56:41Kay. I sit here today and I'm going
- 56:44to sell this and I'm going to put this on a platter for all
- 56:48you Dallas Maverick fans out there.
- 56:51You can put in a betting option and if they build a casino over
- 56:54there in Dallas, good for them. You can bet that if I'm right
- 56:58about this, you'll be a millionaire.
- 57:00Cooper Flag is going to be the face of United States
- 57:03basketball. Cooper Flag is going to average
- 57:06between 25 and 30 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and he
- 57:10is going to be a two way basketball player.
- 57:13He will be the best player on The Mavericks in three years
- 57:17with Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and all those mongrels.
- 57:21OK, no matter who's there, Cooper Flag is going to be the
- 57:25best player there. I'm going to tell you this right
- 57:27now. This writer, I don't know him
- 57:30personally and I don't, I don't care where he comes from.
- 57:33Chuck Klosterman. And he's going to need a
- 57:35Klosterman bag because that's where he's going to be pissing
- 57:39out of when somebody shoots him. OK?
- 57:41This guy's an idiot. He is not smart, and this is a
- 57:45ridiculous take. Deadlift Shrimp.
- 57:48OK, I like Deadlift shrimp. I've watched him when he played
- 57:51for the SuperSonics. He was a good player.
- 57:53He played with Shawn Kemp, he played with Gary Payton.
- 57:57He played with a bunch of good players and he also had a chance
- 58:00at one point, I think, if I'm not mistaken, play with Dick
- 58:02Tempe Matumbo. I am not going to sit here.
- 58:07Yes, I am going to tell you this and I'm not trying to sell you
- 58:11guys anything you don't know. Deadlift Shrimp was a good
- 58:14player. He is not, I repeat he is not
- 58:18Cooper flag and for anybody that thinks that just shows you how
- 58:22clueless you are when it comes to basketball.
- 58:25And Bill Simmons, for you to have Chuck Glasturman on your
- 58:29show, shame on you. I loved your Celtic City, even
- 58:33though I couldn't stand the green and white.
- 58:35I I give you a lot of credit for the production end of it, but
- 58:38I'll tell you this right now, it's very cunning, it's very
- 58:42supportive when you have this fool and Bill Simmons, who's
- 58:46about 5 foot 5, couldn't step on a basketball court and
- 58:49everybody's. Telling you he's 6.
- 58:51Three, I don't care if he's 63, to me he's he's 5 foot 5 on his
- 58:55little camera. OK, He's a small little bitch
- 58:58who has Chuck Closter bag on his show speaking absolutely
- 59:04ridiculousness about one of the best American players we have
- 59:08seen come out of College in about 25 years.
- 59:12It's shameful. It's absolutely shameful.
- 59:15And by the way. Who would you compare Cooper to?
- 59:18I just said it. He said White Durant.
- 59:20The white Kevin Durant, I think he's going to be Kevin Durant.
- 59:23Kevin Durant came into the league and I'll explain
- 59:25something to you when he played for Texas.
- 59:28Anybody remember him with the Longhorns?
- 59:30He was a good shooter. I watched him in college.
- 59:33I was there with him. He was a good shooter.
- 59:36He wasn't a great shooter. He developed his shooting
- 59:39ability in three years in the NBA.
- 59:41What Kevin Durant, Durant was really, really good at.
- 59:44He was long and he could do everything good.
- 59:46He was a good rebounder. He wasn't much of A passer, but
- 59:49he could shoot anywhere on the perimeter.
- 59:51He could dominate anywhere within 18 to 19 feet in right to
- 59:55the hole and he was so fancy. He was so fun to watch and
- 59:58energetic and he he was an interesting personality.
- 1:00:02That's Cooper flag guys. What do you think?
- 1:00:04Cooper go watch the videos of Kevin Durant.
- 1:00:07This is how I kind of compared and contrast these guys.
- 1:00:10Now, is he going to be Kevin Durant as a three-point shooter?
- 1:00:13Probably not. But if you get, if you're if
- 1:00:16Cooper flags averaging between 42 percent, 43% at the
- 1:00:21three-point line, I would even say a little bit less, let's say
- 1:00:243938. If you get 39% of your 3
- 1:00:28pointers in, Cooper flags can average between 25 and 30 points
- 1:00:32a game. He's just is and he's a good
- 1:00:34free throw shooter. He's a as a rookie.
- 1:00:37No, he's going to average. I think he's going to average
- 1:00:39between 21 and 22 points next year.
- 1:00:43That's what he's going to be averaging.
- 1:00:44That's where I think he's going to be.
- 1:00:45And he's going to give you about six to seven rebounds and about
- 1:00:493 assists. That's where I think Cooper
- 1:00:51flags going to be. And the reason why is he's not
- 1:00:53going to have Kyrie Irving all season.
- 1:00:55So he's going to be young and everything.
- 1:00:57All the offense is going to go through him.
- 1:00:59And then you have Anthony Davis, who is old.
- 1:01:02And we don't know if Anthony Davis is coming back.
- 1:01:04So all the offense is going to be going through Cooper flag.
- 1:01:07And Cooper Flag is going to get a chance to develop a lot sooner
- 1:01:10than later because he doesn't have Mr. Ball hog himself, Kyrie
- 1:01:13Irving chucking up threes. So that's why I think it's gonna
- 1:01:17go. Yeah, I was gonna say like that
- 1:01:18with Shrimp. Seems like a guy that's a good
- 1:01:20modern comparison for today's NBA.
- 1:01:22But like, for what he was at the time, like he still had flaws as
- 1:01:25a player. Too You think shrimp is is
- 1:01:27Cooper flag? Cooper flag's a lot better.
- 1:01:30I'm getting it. I'm just saying.
- 1:01:31I'm just saying like I think if shrimp playing in today's game,
- 1:01:34maybe he's good. But yeah, definitely nowhere
- 1:01:36close. Cooper flag as a as a prospect,
- 1:01:39like you said, Kevin Durant. We've heard all these other
- 1:01:40comparisons like the upside is Hall of Famer as it is and he
- 1:01:44does a lot more than his stats even show too.
- 1:01:46When it came to smart passing, smart shooting and could
- 1:01:49well-rounded defender, better defender than Durant was as a
- 1:01:52prospect. And Durant was a little taller
- 1:01:54and longer at the time when he came out.
- 1:01:57But flag still has a lot of room to grow.
- 1:01:58He's growing his body at a 19 years old.
- 1:02:01He does a lot of different things that left.
- 1:02:02Shrem did not do all those things.
- 1:02:04He was flawed defensively for that time.
- 1:02:06He was not nearly as athletic. So I think the comparison is
- 1:02:09ridiculous, even though I do. I guess I do think Shrem would
- 1:02:11play better in today's game. But Cooper.
- 1:02:14That's not what he say. That's not.
- 1:02:15That's not what anyone should be saying when you're comparing him
- 1:02:18to Cooper Flag, who's considered this generational talent and has
- 1:02:21already shown a lot of it. He's not raw in really anything
- 1:02:24at this point. It's just, it's ridiculous.
- 1:02:27It's a really ridiculous statement, it really is.
- 1:02:30And by the way, dentless shrimp averaged about 38.4% behind the
- 1:02:34three-point line. So if you want to save the
- 1:02:36comparable shooting ability of dentless shrimp and Cooper flag
- 1:02:40at the three-point line, that might be comparable.
- 1:02:43His game is all around game. Not a chance as far as
- 1:02:46comparability. But look at this guy Errol.
- 1:02:49Look look at the the German assassin himself that left
- 1:02:52shrimp was that great sidekick third wheel Camp and Gary Payton
- 1:02:57on those Sonics teams. I was with the Pacers as well.
- 1:03:01That is a three time All Star. He made it one third team all
- 1:03:05NBA and was a great you know, third guy on the team.
- 1:03:09One of the best of the 90s. We all remember him, but but no
- 1:03:14one remembers him as a star. And that's kind of this
- 1:03:17argument, right? Like if you're a really great
- 1:03:19player, goofy this guy is. Plasterman, look at how goofy
- 1:03:23this guy is in the corner. First off, I he looks like very
- 1:03:26interesting looking kind of looks.
- 1:03:28He also has written lots of crazy books and cultural books.
- 1:03:31I rest my kids selling books. I rest my kids.
- 1:03:34He was he was one of the original writers on Grantland,
- 1:03:37Bill Simmons kind of landmark thing that made him famous being
- 1:03:40him super rich rather. So to me, like this take is
- 1:03:45really fascinating because he's saying that flag doesn't have
- 1:03:49elite athleticism. Not wrong, very good, not elite,
- 1:03:52doesn't have elite pretty much anything, but very good at
- 1:03:57almost everything. Does that make you an elite
- 1:03:59player in the NBA or does that make you a great second banana?
- 1:04:03That's interesting. That's what he was saying to me.
- 1:04:06I don't think Shrem's the right comparison.
- 1:04:08Here's the guy I was thinking of and when I watched him in
- 1:04:12college. So I'd say I'll give you some of
- 1:04:14the guard skills of Durant as a big is, but I.
- 1:04:17Is jokic elite? Is Jokic elite as far as
- 1:04:20athletic? Ability Yokich 71, We know.
- 1:04:23That I'm just saying Yokich all right let's.
- 1:04:26Elite. Elite athletically.
- 1:04:28Yeah, Luka Dodgic is instead 100% no.
- 1:04:31He's not it well more like a coordination and like
- 1:04:33understanding the game like IQ that kind of athletic the.
- 1:04:36First thing that pops into your head about Jokic is not his
- 1:04:39athletic ability. OK, not the how hot, not his
- 1:04:41vertical leap yes, you don't think about Jokic's vertical
- 1:04:44leap or his lateral defense. You know that he does do a good
- 1:04:47job defense so he's. Not his technique.
- 1:04:49But athleticism is part there's. There's different aspects of it.
- 1:04:54If Jokic has athletic ability, like they're talking about elite
- 1:04:58athletic ability, so does Cooper flag If you're going to sit here
- 1:05:01and tell me that Jokic has a has more athletic ability.
- 1:05:05He's one of the best players in the NBA.
- 1:05:06Yes, because he does everything right.
- 1:05:08His technique is as good as anybody we've seen.
- 1:05:11So it's so. Nine, though, it's technique,
- 1:05:14difference in athleticism, yes, it's different.
- 1:05:16He has to. He has to be athletic, to be
- 1:05:18technical. That's not true.
- 1:05:20That's not true. That's not true, non.
- 1:05:23Basketball is not the case. Non basketball.
- 1:05:25You're either an above The Who player or below The Who player,
- 1:05:27and Yokich is decidedly a below The Who player.
- 1:05:29Doesn't mean he's not great at it.
- 1:05:31It just means that very often in the NBA we know Yokich is a one
- 1:05:35of one. Like no one's ever played the
- 1:05:36way Yokich plays. Let's just face it, Flag, he's
- 1:05:40not going to be that tall. He's a six, nine guy.
- 1:05:42He's going to be a power forward body.
- 1:05:44Luka. Dodgek.
- 1:05:45So I wasn't thinking of him. When I watch, he goes to the
- 1:05:49hoop with such an enthusiasm. He's so much better going to the
- 1:05:52hoop than those guys with more athleticism.
- 1:05:55It reminds me a little bit of Blake Griffin in college.
- 1:05:58Not the same height, but the way that he drives to the hoop with
- 1:06:01that kind. Of Blake Griffin.
- 1:06:02Stop, Blake. Griffin choose the second pick
- 1:06:04and. Yeah, but he couldn't shoot.
- 1:06:06He couldn't. Shoot, I that's why I'm saying a
- 1:06:08mix of Blake Griffin and the guard skills of Durant from
- 1:06:11college, because he goes to the because Durant didn't drive the
- 1:06:13hoop like that. No, no way, no way.
- 1:06:16Not the way that he's doing it. It's kind of LeBron esque almost
- 1:06:19the way that he goes to the hoop and as he's windmill dunks, he's
- 1:06:22obviously not the same physical specimen.
- 1:06:24But I mean, is he going to be able to do that against NBA?
- 1:06:30Guys, let me ask Costum in this OK, If he knows so much about
- 1:06:34the NBA, who was the most dominant player at the Olympics
- 1:06:38during the practices against all the stars for Team USA, Let me
- 1:06:42ask you. Just took that my next sentence
- 1:06:44out of my mouth. Let's hear it.
- 1:06:46Let's hear it. Colostromy.
- 1:06:47Colostromy bag. Whatever.
- 1:06:48What do you call it? A colostomy bag.
- 1:06:50That's why. Colostomy bag.
- 1:06:52That's why I called him a colostomy bag.
- 1:06:54OK, here's what I'm going to say to Mr. Colostomy bag.
- 1:06:58All right, the best player on the basketball court during
- 1:07:02those practices were, and it's been said by Anthony Davis,
- 1:07:07LeBron James and all those guys. You know what they said, the
- 1:07:11number one player on the basketball court during those
- 1:07:14practice was Cooper Flag and all those athletic guys, Anthony
- 1:07:18Edwards, Joel Embiid, all those unbelievable athletically
- 1:07:23talented players that we've seen for Team USA all these years.
- 1:07:28That guy was the most athletic one on the basketball court.
- 1:07:31So kiss my ass, Closter me bag, all right?
- 1:07:34That's the most. My mistake.
- 1:07:36Blake Griffin was the number one pick just like this.
- 1:07:38I don't know why I thought he was second.
- 1:07:40Hachim Pabit was second in that draft.
- 1:07:42Remember Hashim Pabit? Oh my goodness.
- 1:07:45But look, Blake Griffin, when we think about him now, he had a
- 1:07:50couple of great years when he had that athleticism.
- 1:07:53He lost the athleticism and he was a role player.
- 1:07:55He's not going to be a Hall of Famer.
- 1:07:57And that's that's kind of a plaster.
- 1:08:00Been saying he's not a Hall of Famer.
- 1:08:01No way, Blake. Griffin Speedy How long has
- 1:08:03Blake Griffin been dominant on in the NBA?
- 1:08:05He might be he. Might be 7 years.
- 1:08:08I would say probably seven years.
- 1:08:09Look, look it up. Look it up.
- 1:08:11Because he went to the Pistons and was terrible.
- 1:08:13I'm asking Chris Paul. When he was with Chris Paul and
- 1:08:15they were doing him and DeAndre Jordan.
- 1:08:17That was awesome basketball. They were great.
- 1:08:20Never won anything, you know. The NBA is weird and they get
- 1:08:24everybody gets into the the NBA Hall of Fame now.
- 1:08:26So the reason why I thought of Blake Griffin is you were
- 1:08:29saying, you know, points per game for Cooper Flag would be
- 1:08:31around 2122. So I'm looking at the highest
- 1:08:34points per game for a rookie in NBA history.
- 1:08:37And if you go down to around 22 points per game, you get Blake
- 1:08:40Griffin 22.5 points per game in 2010.
- 1:08:44So I think that's a pretty good comp for what you can expect
- 1:08:48from him. Now, if he has the as a rookie
- 1:08:50Durant, he'd be better than Blake Griffin.
- 1:08:52As a rookie, he's not going to average 22 points a game for his
- 1:08:55whole career. He's going to average a lot more
- 1:08:57than that. I'm telling you, I don't know.
- 1:08:59I think that they'd build the offense around him, but then
- 1:09:01again, maybe he likes drinking a beer after he finishes a
- 1:09:04basketball. Dude, that guy lives.
- 1:09:06That guy lives. This guy lives and sleeps
- 1:09:09basketball. Anybody that knows anything
- 1:09:12about Cooper Flag and how energetic and his personality
- 1:09:16is, everything that we've heard about him, he lives in sleeps
- 1:09:20basketball. He don't even play video games.
- 1:09:22He's out on the basketball court try, you know, trying to get
- 1:09:25better. He's that type of player.
- 1:09:27I'm telling you right now, Cooper Flag is going to be a
- 1:09:292530 point guy In three years, he's going to be one of the best
- 1:09:32American players. We're going to be considering
- 1:09:34him the face of United States basketball.
- 1:09:36Mark my words. I'm telling you right now, you
- 1:09:39could sit this in your heads and when it comes back to me 3-4
- 1:09:42years from now and I told, I tell you, I told you so I'm
- 1:09:46going to tell you. You guys were absolutely wrong.
- 1:09:47And Mr. Colostomy bag is not going to have another job
- 1:09:50because he's an idiot and he should just stay on Bill Simmons
- 1:09:53podcast because the guy, the only thing he preaches is I'm
- 1:09:58not even going to say it anyways.
- 1:09:59Yeah, it was a 5. Year I don't want to throw
- 1:10:00myself. I've thrown myself really out
- 1:10:03there, so I don't want to throw myself deeper, but I think you
- 1:10:06guys got my drift. I don't think Bill Simmons knows
- 1:10:09what he's talking about. I don't think this guy clout.
- 1:10:11He is 6/3 though. I don't care he is 6/3.
- 1:10:14He looks like a shrimp to me. I don't care how tall he is.
- 1:10:17Maybe nothing like a shrimp cocktail.
- 1:10:18I I mean, I don't care if he's 63, he's Jabba size, but he
- 1:10:23looks like he looks like this. He looks like a little pinky.
- 1:10:26That's what he looks. Like he's a skinny guy.
- 1:10:28That's what to me, I don't care how tall you are, if you're a
- 1:10:31little rail, nobody gives a crap.
- 1:10:33It was a great show. Thank you to Jabba at the World
- 1:10:35Series, the College World Series.
