- Daniel: Alright, Clint. The long Clint: Yes, sir. Daniel: dark nightmare is over. The bad man can't hurt you anymore. It's Clint: He can't. He won't. Daniel: time for football. We have made it to the end of the road. Clint: Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm Daniel: It is in many ways the inaugural season for Talking Dogs here for Clint: It is. Daniel: this iteration. I know a lot of you have been with us for Many many years. We're grateful to have you here. If you're new to this channel, if you found us maybe from another show, another channel, that's great. We love that. Make sure Clint: Awesome. Daniel: you're subscribed over there. Make sure you're subscribed here as well. Love to have you. We'll be here all season long giving our thoughts about this Georgia football team, but also giving out locks, predictions for the season. There's Clint: Hey yo. Daniel: a free newsletter you can subscribe to if you get down in the description, you can check that out. but let's let me start here, Clint. George's gonna tee it up between the hedges on Saturday at three PM. It's gonna be about a hundred and ninety-two degrees. Clint: People will be melting into the earth. Yes, you will be. Daniel: I I will be one of those people. Except I'll be melting into the three hundred level of Sanford Stadium. First of all, if you're listening to this, holler at your boy. I am on the home side. About what time would I expect the sun to go back behind my head? About Clint: No time. There is Daniel: maybe about four PM? Maybe about second quarter? Clint: Maybe maybe maybe like four minutes Daniel: Five PM? Clint: left. Daniel: Four minutes left in the game? Come on. No, you Clint: No, no, no, no, in the second quarter. Daniel: Okay, okay. I was like, geez. alright. Georgia teased it up three p.m., Tennessee State. The opponent not important. They have actually played a game already, which is fascinating. Clint: Really is. Daniel: Did I watch it? Of course I did. I'm a degenerate. I'm a full on degenerate. Clint: Y I why wouldn't you? Daniel: Was it football on TV? Yeah, I almost Clint: Yeah. Daniel: went to it, Clint. you were at the Stanford Hawaii game. I almost went to the Tennessee State game. It was here in Nashville. I I ask you. You're locked into one thing. I'm not looking for an outcome. I want to process your watching. You understand the question? What will Clint be dialed into on Saturday that will indicate to you one way or the other how you're gonna end up feeling about this game? Clint: If you if you've if you've been on the journey with us, if you Daniel: He's a simple man. Clint: I'm a simple man. be looking at one thing. It's called the line of scrimmage. Daniel: Did you say Juan thing? You'll be looking at Juan Juan thing? Yeah, I'll Clint: I did say Juan thing. I did. I did. Daniel: be looking at Juan thing too. he's pretty important. Also pretty hard to miss. Quite large. Clint: I very difficult to not see that man looking at the line scrimmage for both sides of Georgia. I want to see that thing get disrupted, dislodged, and moved from its original spot every single play. If I see the offense obliterating, washing out the defensive line, moving them down, having Nate Frazier get two yards, two and a half, three yards before he is touched. I see Gunnar Stockton have a perfect horseshoe. In his protection. If I see Ethan Barber decleat a man on an little H motion across and he comes back and he's gonna kick out so that when I see that for the offense, I'm gonna go, here we go. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, because I know the death marches are coming. I know the death marches are coming. I need five death marches this year, Daniel. I need five. Daniel: Yeah, and for clarity, we may have some new folks who were who are tuning in. Okay, for clarity. A Clint: okay. Sorry, I apologize. A death march. Yeah. Daniel: death march is not a drive in which Georgia runs the ball a lot. Often Clint: New. Daniel: it's miscategorized. It's been a phrase that, though invented by us, has been appropriated by many. Yeah. Clint: others have used which get your name out of our mouth. Daniel: Which by the way, you keep calling him Sunbelt Billy all you want. We have been here the whole time. It's fine. A death Clint: Give us some respect, that's all I'm asking. Daniel: march is not a drive where Georgia runs the ball a lot. A death march, very specifically, Clint, is what? Clint: A death march is when Kirby Smart says, I have eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds that I want to take off the clock and I want to put the final nail in the coffin of the hopes and the soul of the other team. It's it's it's run heavy on the death march. Don't Daniel: sure. Clint: make any mistake about it, but it is run heavy in so much as I am going to make you quit. I'm taking you down to the deep waters and I'm gonna see if you can tread for eight and a half minutes with us. And you can't. You can't do it. Daniel: And you can't. No, you won't do it. Clint: I'm going to suffocate you, take the oxygen out of the room, and watch six, seven, eight yards a clip just relentlessly attack you and drain the clock and drain the game and drain your soul. That's what we're looking for. Daniel: Thing is, you can have a death march when you're up by 28. You can have a death march when you're up by one. We once watched a team death march when they were down by 14 points against Georgia. Clint: Uh-huh. Daniel: We've seen a lot. Kirby Smart will get in your head and he will make you death march yourself. It's like a walk the plank situation. Clint: Yes it is. Daniel: We're gonna see five death marches this year, Clint. We're gonna do it. Okay? Because Clint: I need it. I need it. Daniel: listen, do you know who the backup running backs are? Like who these who's gonna tackle these guys? Do you know who the backup offensive linemen are? Who's gonna get through a block? Clint: The the most boring. We have two boring linemen on this team Ernest Green and Drew Bobo. Right now, Daniel: Snooze Fest. Clint: they're boring, and yet they are the guys who are the best offensive linemen today. Not not week six, eight, twelve, but today. And they're boring. So I'll be watching that. The second thing I'll be watching, just flip it over and say the same dang thing on the other side. I need to see this defensive line dislodge linemen. Push them back in the face and completely make that quarterback dance. I need to see Tapshoo all over the place with this kid. I need to see him ducking in and out, trying to find a thing, one hand and palm in the ball as he is just lost around him. That Daniel: Just be bop scattin' for his life. Clint: We are we are just blues and jazzing our way through the entire game. Those are the two things I'm watching. Daniel, what are you looking for on this game to make sure that you come away thinking, Yeah, this this is what I wanted. Daniel: gonna be watching what happens after the ball is snapped will be all well and good. I'm almost just as interested in the way Georgia lines up before the snap, especially on offense. I'm going to be watching for formations in this game. I'm not gonna Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: lie to you. I'm going to be counting tight ends in this game. I'm going to be counting running backs in this game. I'm going to be looking for sets where Georgia has zero wide receivers on the field in this game. And we may have some. And it ain't gonna be on the goal line, friends. Clint: No. Daniel: I think there are some very interesting formational options that Georgia has. And listen, there are two schools of thought. You put on your tinfoil hat and you think one way or you think the other way. You could adopt the philosophy that Georgia is going to withhold the playbook from future opponents like Oklahoma. I do think they will do that to some extent. Clint: Yeah. Daniel: I'm not gonna throw my man under the bus. I do think they will do that to some extent. I d to some extent I do think they will do that. Clint: Okay, good. Daniel: But I think another thing that offensive coaches especially like to do in these early matchups is the exact opposite. They like to give defensive coordinators a lot to think about. You understand? The Oak. Clint: Hmm. The more you have to prep, the more time you Daniel: Brent. Clint: waste. Daniel: That's right. Brent Venables is a solid defensive mind. He is a he is a stellar defensive coach in this game. Clint: Very good. Yes, yes. Yes, yes. Daniel: He will have a good plan for Gunnar Stockton in this Georgia offense. Clint: He will. Daniel: But there's a lot of formations that Mike Bobo can throw out there that Oklahoma ain't never seen before. Never have they seen a slot wide receiver. Clint: Yes. huh. Daniel: And two tight ends on the outside and two backs in the backfield. They'd never seen that Clint: That's unique. Daniel: before. That's not a formation that they've ever gone up against. With two six seven Clint: Because again, as a defensive guy Daniel: guys on the on the perimeter. Clint: Yeah. Yeah. I just I guess you're looking for tendencies. You're looking to play them up because as much as you have that's why when we talk about scripting the first two drives and you want to have diversity and you wanna be off all of a sudden you get in the heat of the game and your tendencies as a human take over. And you like certain things. And so that's when you unconsciously go to these things. So when you're a defensive guy, you go, hey, when an offensive coordinator goes with thirteen personnel, he's typically doing this X amount of times. He's running zone this many times, he's running bootleg this many times. But when your entire offense can be ran out of thirteen personnel, Daniel: And you and you have 40 different formations in 13 personnel. You're running under center, you're running two back out of the shotgun. You're running five wide in 13 personnel. You're running like you there's so many options that you have. You're I mean, you're running trips to the boundary in 13 personnel. That's a formation we might see. That's what I'm gonna be watching. There is listen, you say what you want about Mike Bobo. And there's a lot of people that have a lot of opinions about Mike Bobo. A lot of them are wrong. But Mike Bobo is very creative in his play calling. Clint: Very. Daniel: He likes to do unusual things. And he typically comes out of each offseason with a few things that are like, looks like Mike Bob that's Mike Bobo's thing this year. He'll tell you early. Clint: You will. Daniel: How long do you have to wait to know that Zachariah Branch was gonna get it a bunch of times for Georgia last year? about two minutes into Clint: You didn't wait. Daniel: week one. He took one to the house. Eighty Clint: Play Daniel: yards. Clint: play one is gonna be Elias Williams and Ethan Barber on the same side of the formation. Daniel: Clint, can I make a statement? Colin, Clint: Ask you to. Daniel: if you're listening, ear muffs. Clint: Ha ha ha! Daniel: Listen, I'm not going to stutter. Elias Williams is Darnell Washington 2.0. I've heard all I need to hear from all the all the people I need to hear it from. Elias Williams is Darnell Washington two point zero. Clint: He is Daniel: He's the fourth best pass catcher on this tight in this tight end room. Clint: my. Daniel: And he's maybe gonna be he will be a contender for the most valuable player in the tight end Clint: Yes, he will. Daniel: At the end of the season, you will not know who the most valuable tight end is. I pr I can nearly guarantee it. But that's what I'll be looking for. I'll be looking for formations. Clint. before we get out of here or week one thoughts. I just gotta ask you last off season thing. We're gonna be in the season. Okay. Clint: Okay. W yeah, huh. Daniel: I'm just hanging out looking at the Georgia roster. Just just in my free time, as one does. Clint: Okay. Daniel: I know I've seen this before this offseason. Clint: Okay. Daniel: But all of a sudden it it registers with me, Clint. Do you know what number Talon Taylor is wearing this year? Clint: Well, Daniel: So clearly you had the same experience that I've had. For those of you that don't know, Talon Taylor is wearing the number one this year for the Georgia offense. Now that might not mean anything to you. Clint: He s he switched. Daniel: But he switched his jersey to the number one. If you recall, last year a guy named Zachariah Branch wore the number one. It's always on every team since the dawn of time, it's always a very coveted number among skilled talent on a football team. Number one's always going to be a very coveted number. It's interesting to me that he's the one that has it. Clint, is that interesting? Am I making something up here? Clint: He got it. Now Daniel: It's interest I'm interested. Clint: Had a lot of contenders to get the number because every single year you can change numbers any year that you want. It seniority takes. But we had Isaiah Canyon, we had CJ. We had Daniel: With London Humphreys. Clint: London Humphreys. We had Daniel: Sakobi White. Clint: Sokovi White. sudden mister Dallin Taylor comes up with numero uno. Daniel: He just says it seems like that's who I'll be. Clint: I'll take that one guys. Thanks though. Daniel: It's interesting to me. I'm interested in it. I don't know I don't know if it means anything. I Clint: It's it's not n it's not nothing. It's not nothing. Daniel: I will say this. Clint: Please. Daniel: Georgia really would love for Talon Taylor to be an alpha on this team. Clint: Mm. Daniel: They would really love it. I would really love it. Clint: Talon Taylor becomes an alpha, a branch. If Daniel: Yeah. Clint: if after Arkansas, Tallinn Taylor has eight catches, four ninety eight yards and a tud. And that's midway through the third quarter he ain't playing. Get ready for locks to include a lot more Georgia hammers against any spread. Daniel: Yes sir. yes, sir. Speaking of locks, make sure you're subscribed to this channel all season long.
