Democrat Party says Adios to the Middle, Texas BBQ vs. Vegan Politics & NIL Bill Takes Aim at College Sports Chaos Week In Review · The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson

• 0:00
Speaker 1: Welcome in his verdict with Ted Cruz. Week in Review
• 0:02
Speaker 1: Ben Ferguson with you, and here are the big stories
• 0:04
Speaker 1: that you may have missed that we talked about this week.
• 0:07
Speaker 1: First up, the policies of the left and the upcoming
• 0:10
Speaker 1: midterm elections. Well, they're totally radical. We'll explain at all
• 0:13
Speaker 1: exactly what they're running on. Also, one of those radicals
• 0:17
Speaker 1: is in Texas and he's running for the US Senate.
• 0:20
Speaker 1: His name James Tallerico. So what has he said in
• 0:23
Speaker 1: his past? We've got the receipts. And finally, if you
• 0:26
Speaker 1: love college sports, you're going to need to know about
• 0:29
Speaker 1: the nil College Sports Bill and how it could fundamentally
• 0:33
Speaker 1: change sports for the better. It's the Week in Review
• 0:36
Speaker 1: and it starts right now. I want to move the
• 0:39
Speaker 1: midterms and talk about something that I actually think is
• 0:42
Speaker 1: very one interesting, but two why every time when I'm
• 0:47
Speaker 1: having a debate this on TV, it's all the Republicans
• 0:50
Speaker 1: are in trouble. Donald Trump's in trouble. The midterms are
• 0:53
Speaker 1: going to be a bloodbath, They're going to be a disaster.
• 0:55
Speaker 1: And I keep saying the same thing over and over again.
• 0:57
Speaker 1: Look at who the Democrats are running. There are radicals
• 1:02
Speaker 1: in the Democratic Party that they are running instead of
• 1:05
Speaker 1: what I would argue would be the easiest way to
• 1:07
Speaker 1: win if you think you have an advantage, and that
• 1:10
Speaker 1: would be to run moderate Democrats that are that are
• 1:13
Speaker 1: like not crazy and hate law enforcement and want to abolish
• 1:16
Speaker 1: ice and want to get rid of of, you know,
• 1:19
Speaker 1: law and order in basic things in America like waste
• 1:22
Speaker 1: fraud and abuse for example, and the funds that we've
• 1:25
Speaker 1: seen that have been stolen through Medicare and medicaid in hospice,
• 1:27
Speaker 1: and the list goes on and on is keeps growing.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: But right now I'm not that sour on the midterms
• 1:33
Speaker 1: center because I see who they're running, and I think
• 1:37
Speaker 1: that's their biggest liability. And some of these are in
• 1:39
Speaker 1: very big races where I'm sitting there going if you're saying,
• 1:43
Speaker 1: you wouldn't have taken this risk with this candidate. But
• 1:45
Speaker 1: I also think it tells you about the Democratic Party.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: They're not saying they want to run these radical extremists
• 1:51
Speaker 1: candidates said insane things in their past.
• 1:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I got to say you're right that this
• 1:57
Speaker 2: is potentially a bumpy political environment in November. Although I'm
• 2:00
Speaker 2: still optimistic I'm optimistic we hold and grow our majorities
• 2:03
Speaker 2: in both the House and Senate. I don't think that
• 2:05
Speaker 2: is off the table at all. I think it's very
• 2:08
Speaker 2: much in flux right now. But I will say that
• 2:12
Speaker 2: the Democrats are helping us by nominating some of the
• 2:15
Speaker 2: craziest loons I've ever seen. Listen, and parties can do something,
• 2:20
Speaker 2: do a lot to affect their outcome in the general.
• 2:22
Speaker 2: If you nominate strong candidates who are widely appealing, who
• 2:25
Speaker 2: are attractive, who have real records of success, that can
• 2:28
Speaker 2: be formidable. And if you nominate lunatics who scare the voters,
• 2:33
Speaker 2: that can hand the election to your opponents. And I
• 2:35
Speaker 2: got to say, I think there's no candidate in the
• 2:38
Speaker 2: country that better embodies just how batcrap crazy the Democrats
• 2:42
Speaker 2: have gotten than Graham Plattner. Graham Plattner their nominee for
• 2:48
Speaker 2: Senate in Maine. Now, let's start off. Look, Maine is
• 2:51
Speaker 2: one of the obvious pick up opportunities for the Democrats.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: Maine is a blue state. Susan Collins, the Republican Senator,
• 2:57
Speaker 2: is the only Republican elected all of New England, and
• 3:01
Speaker 2: so in a state that votes by a large margin
• 3:05
Speaker 2: against Donald Trump. If you're the Democrats, that's an obvious
• 3:08
Speaker 2: place to say, all right, let's target a pick up there.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: And in fact, Janet Mills, Democrat governor relatively popular in
• 3:15
Speaker 2: the state, was running. And yet the party has gone
• 3:18
Speaker 2: so crazy that their own governor was deemed not crazy enough,
• 3:23
Speaker 2: and instead they went with Graham Platner. Look, the governor
• 3:27
Speaker 2: might have been at the way.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: I wish you were joking, but you're really not like
• 3:32
Speaker 1: I mean, if you're an extreme Democrat three four years ago,
• 3:36
Speaker 1: you're now moderate in the Democratic Party.
• 3:38
Speaker 2: So who is Graham Platner? He has described himself as
• 3:44
Speaker 2: a communist. It used to be the socialist where the extremes.
• 3:47
Speaker 2: I cannot think of another major Democrat nominee who is
• 3:51
Speaker 2: self described as a communist, but Graham Plattner. That's how
• 3:55
Speaker 2: he described his own political and economic philosophy. Graham Plattiner
• 4:00
Speaker 2: had and you've heard this because at this point most
• 4:02
Speaker 2: people had had a Nazi tattoo on his chest, not
• 4:06
Speaker 2: just a Nazi tattoo, a totin comp. What is a
• 4:09
Speaker 2: totin comp It is a Nazi skull and crossbones. That
• 4:13
Speaker 2: was the symbol of the SS that ran the concentration
• 4:19
Speaker 2: camps in in Germany and and and and and throughout
• 4:24
Speaker 2: throughout Europe and the World War Two. That's what he
• 4:27
Speaker 2: put on his So you've got an actual communist Nazi
• 4:33
Speaker 2: is their nominee. And and by the way, we've seen
• 4:36
Speaker 2: Democrats rushing up to Maine to support him. Bernie Sanders.
• 4:39
Speaker 2: Bernie Sanders this week is up there campaigning because the
• 4:43
Speaker 2: you know, the Communists and the Nazi standing together. But
• 4:47
Speaker 2: I gotta say it is amazing. You might think, Okay,
• 4:50
  Speaker 2: a Nazi communist, that's pretty out there. That's that's gonna
• 4:52
Speaker 2: be tough to defend this guy's APO file. I don't
• 4:56
Speaker 2: know who's doing the OPA research on him, but he's
• 4:58
Speaker 2: having more fun than anybody has ever had the history
• 5:01
Speaker 2: of politics, because every day something comes out, and I'm
• 5:05
Speaker 2: going to repeat some of it, but I'm going to
• 5:07
Speaker 2: give a caution that most of what's in his apophile
• 5:09
Speaker 2: I can't repeat because this is a family friendly podcast,
• 5:13
Speaker 2: and this guy is so profane, he's so obscene. So
• 5:18
Speaker 2: one of the most recent comments that he put on
• 5:20
Speaker 2: on Reddit that just came out was quote, you don't
• 5:25
Speaker 2: have much experience with Latin American hookers, do you that
• 5:28
Speaker 2: would be the Democrat nominee for Senate in Maine. What
• 5:32
Speaker 2: else did he say? He also he attacked a veteran,
• 5:38
Speaker 2: an Army combat veteran who received the Purple Heart. He
• 5:41
Speaker 2: did this online and he called him a dumb mfor
• 5:45
Speaker 2: although he did not abbreviate M effort, and he said
• 5:49
Speaker 2: this army combat veteran didn't deserve to live. This guy
• 5:55
Speaker 2: wants to be a United States senator. And and by
• 5:58
Speaker 2: the way, just today he was questioned by it about
• 6:05
  Speaker 2: it and asked.
• 6:05
Speaker 3: If he want to apologize.
• 6:06
Speaker 2: Give a listen to what he said about when he
• 6:09
Speaker 2: was given the opportunity to apologize for calling an Army
• 6:13
Speaker 2: combat veteran and a Purple Heart recipient a dumb mf
• 6:16
Speaker 2: ORR who didn't deserve to live.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: Here was Platner's response.
• 6:19
Speaker 4: I was wondering, if you regret the posts about the
• 6:22
Speaker 4: Purple Heart veteran, if you think you need to apologize
• 6:28
Speaker 4: to him, what you would say to the voters who
• 6:33
Speaker 4: might be upset by it.
• 6:36
Speaker 3: I did four tools the apertude.
• 6:38
Speaker 5: Any attempt to say that I disrespect my tues is
• 6:43
  Speaker 5: slanderous and offensive.
• 6:44
Speaker 4: Do you think you owm an apology?
• 6:47
Speaker 3: Do you know how many much friends of purple hearts?
• 6:49
Speaker 6: Do you know how many much suns government.
• 6:51
Speaker 1: Charlotte, Okay, I mean that's what you call a double
• 6:56
  Speaker 1: down there, sir.
• 6:57
Speaker 2: So no apology doubling down, by the way. He also
• 7:02
Speaker 2: he has some bizarre things. He talks about how women
• 7:05
Speaker 2: who are raped it's their fault. He attacks African Americans.
• 7:09
Speaker 2: He says they're cheap and they don't tip. Oddly enough,
• 7:14
Speaker 2: he also wrote about, okay, this is bizarre, fantasies about
• 7:19
Speaker 2: how every time he sees a port potty he wants
• 7:22
Speaker 2: to go inside the porta potty and masturbate in the
• 7:25
  Speaker 2: porta partty.
• 7:26
Speaker 3: Look, this is weird.
• 7:28
Speaker 2: This is not mainstream that this guy is extreme. And
• 7:33
Speaker 2: you know what Elizabeth Warren says about someone who says
• 7:35
Speaker 2: all that she likes him for money even more, she says, quote,
• 7:41
Speaker 2: he's my kind of man.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: Oh that's right, Yeah, that that was her quote from
• 7:45
Speaker 1: this pat Yeah, he's my kind of man. A guy
• 7:48
Speaker 1: with a Nazi tattoo is a communist who says he
• 7:51
Speaker 1: likes to do that in a porta party.
• 7:52
Speaker 2: There you go and understand, Look, the Democrats are so
• 7:56
Speaker 2: extreme he can attack and mock and in Salt women.
• 8:01
Speaker 2: He can attack African Americans, he can attack Jews, he
• 8:04
Speaker 2: can attack veterans, and they don't care. They all circle
• 8:07
Speaker 2: the wagons. He's our guy because he's a Democrat, and
• 8:12
Speaker 2: they're unwilling. There is nothing too much. By the way,
• 8:15
Speaker 2: they love to call every Republican a Nazi, and yet
• 8:18
Speaker 2: when they have a guy that puts a Nazi tattoo
• 8:20
Speaker 2: on his own chest, they're good with that and they're
• 8:24
Speaker 2: not backing off. And not only that, but you look
• 8:26
Speaker 2: at the corrupt corporate media. Just this week, what did
• 8:30
Speaker 2: Time magazine do? They put them on the cover. They
• 8:34
Speaker 2: put him on the cover and it's entitled Party Crasher. Now,
• 8:39
Speaker 2: I gotta say Time Magazine, it's interesting because they have
• 8:44
Speaker 2: a long history of putting Nazis on their cover. They
• 8:47
Speaker 2: were fond of putting Adolf Hitler on their cover. I
• 8:50
Speaker 2: did have some fun online when I said, hey, groc
• 8:54
Speaker 2: what is a Totin comp and does Time have any
• 8:57
Speaker 2: history of putting Nazis on their cover? And you can
• 9:00
Speaker 2: read the whole response that came up to that, but
• 9:02
Speaker 2: the short answer is yes. And I got to say,
• 9:06
Speaker 2: having seen this guy's like daily drip of APO between
• 9:11
Speaker 2: now and November is gonna be interesting because because I
• 9:14
Speaker 2: guarantee you there's a lot more coming now.
• 9:16
Speaker 1: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
• 9:18
Speaker 1: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
• 9:21
Speaker 1: from earlier this week.
• 9:23
Speaker 6: Now onto story number two.
• 9:25
Speaker 1: Let's dive into who this guy is here, because you
• 9:28
Speaker 1: go back to twenty twenty two, James Tallerico said, it
• 9:33
Speaker 1: is exstential, all right, to reduce meat consumption.
• 9:38
Speaker 3: What was that word again?
• 9:39
  Speaker 6: Ex essential?
• 9:41
Speaker 1: You're gonna mock me out. You're gonna mock me on
• 9:42
Speaker 1: the show tonight, aren't you. I've been talking a long time.
• 9:45
  Speaker 3: Heyky, try that word. There's a there's a tead.
• 9:49
Speaker 1: Good, I'll take the masterclassroom. You go ahead and say
• 9:53
Speaker 1: the word that I'm having a problem with the night.
• 9:55
Speaker 1: I'm just I'm more than happy at midnight for you
• 9:58
Speaker 1: to say that word on my behalf.
• 9:59
Speaker 3: That would be existential. Existential.
• 10:02
Speaker 6: There we go, I go, I can I can copy
• 10:05
Speaker 6: the word for you.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: It's not that he has extra sensory abilities. That's something different.
• 10:09
Speaker 2: If he had esp that, that would be a different story.
• 10:13
Speaker 6: The lickings, I take it's unbelievable.
• 10:15
Speaker 1: So back to twenty twenty two, and James, this is
• 10:20
Speaker 1: a guy that in Texas. I said this on Harris
• 10:23
Speaker 1: Faulkner's show on Fox Today when they were talking about
• 10:26
Speaker 1: the prime Like, in Texas, we like meat. In Texas,
• 10:29
Speaker 1: we are ranchers, we are farmers. We're not vegans. We
• 10:33
Speaker 1: don't do this like mystery fake meat stuff like that's
• 10:37
Speaker 1: just not who we are.
• 10:38
Speaker 6: But this is what he doesn't want you to know.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: About him back in twenty twenty two as a principal.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: By the way, while saying this, he was wearing a
• 10:47
Speaker 1: mask the COVID mass for.
• 10:49
Speaker 6: The press conference. Here is in his own words, take
• 10:51
  Speaker 6: a listen.
• 10:53
Speaker 5: What we have. I think I've heard more and more
• 10:56
Speaker 5: issues of animal welfare. I think not just because it's
• 10:59
Speaker 5: the thing to do, in the moral thing to do,
• 11:02
Speaker 5: but also it's, as all of you know, necessary to
• 11:04
Speaker 5: fight climate change. It is now existential that we try
• 11:08
Speaker 5: to reduce our meat consumption and that we try to
• 11:11
Speaker 5: respect animals in all aspects of society. And so I
• 11:15
Speaker 5: am proud to say that our campaign has officially become
• 11:19
Speaker 5: a non meat campaign. So we we are only buying
• 11:25
Speaker 5: vegan products from our local vegan businesses, some of you
• 11:29
Speaker 5: may know big nonas, they were little nonas and then
• 11:31
Speaker 5: they opened up brick and mortars and other big nonas.
• 11:34
Speaker 5: But we just got our pizza from there today. And
• 11:36
Speaker 5: so the point is that I think all of us,
• 11:39
Speaker 5: not just policymakers, but everyone has to take personal responsibility
• 11:44
  Speaker 5: in this effort.
• 11:45
Speaker 1: I've never in my life heard a vegan campaign being
• 11:50
Speaker 1: propped up much less like, you want to do that
• 11:52
Speaker 1: in Seattle that actually may work, You want to do
• 11:54
Speaker 1: it in San Francisco that it may actually work.
• 11:56
Speaker 6: You want to do this up in New York City.
• 11:58
Speaker 1: I'm not even sure it would work there actually, because
• 12:00
Speaker 1: they actually like normal food there. But saying our campaign
• 12:04
Speaker 1: as a responsible can as a vegan campaign like that
• 12:07
  Speaker 1: in Texas.
• 12:08
Speaker 6: And this goes back to like everyone needs no who
• 12:10
  Speaker 6: this guy is.
• 12:12
Speaker 2: Well, look, and I get that you're taking this very
• 12:14
Speaker 2: personally because because you owned a barbecue restaurant and oh yeah,
• 12:19
Speaker 2: so he's taking a direct assault on your livelihood. Just
• 12:24
Speaker 2: wait till he comes out for banning guns and banning radio.
• 12:27
Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, Ben Ben will lose his mind.
• 12:30
Speaker 6: I will that as the fact.
• 12:33
Speaker 2: You know, it's actually ironic that in twenty eighteen, when
• 12:37
Speaker 2: I was running against Beto of our fifty stop bus tour.
• 12:40
Speaker 2: My guess is a third of those stops were barbecue restaurants.
• 12:43
Speaker 2: If you're traveling little towns around the state, a lot
• 12:46
Speaker 2: of times barbecue restaurants are where you'll do a rally.
• 12:48
Speaker 2: And we were at one barbecue restaurant, I think it
• 12:50
Speaker 2: was in Columbus, Texas, a little town kind of halfway
• 12:53
Speaker 2: between Houston and Austin. And we're there and Peta was
• 12:59
Speaker 2: there protesting me. They had signs out and they were
• 13:01
Speaker 2: protesting people of the Ethical Treatment of animals. They were
• 13:03
Speaker 2: protesting against me. And I joked at the time, I said, look,
• 13:07
Speaker 2: thank you, I'm really glad Pete is here. And then
• 13:09
Speaker 2: they've underscored the stakes of this campaign, which is, if
• 13:13
Speaker 2: you elect Beto O'Rourke, he's gonna ban barbecue. Yeah, and
• 13:18
Speaker 2: and look it was a laugh line there. I didn't
• 13:20
Speaker 2: realize that. Fast forward to twenty twenty six, you're going
• 13:23
Speaker 2: to have someone who literally believes barbecue is immoral. And listen,
• 13:27
Speaker 2: if someone chooses to be vegetarian or vegan or what
• 13:30
Speaker 2: have you looked To be clear, my wife Heidi is vegetarian.
• 13:33
Speaker 2: That's a choice you could make. I am an enthusiastic carnivore.
• 13:37
Speaker 6: Yeah, but I had barbecue tonight. Literally we had a
• 13:40
  Speaker 6: campaign event.
• 13:41
Speaker 2: You had hal apenna sausage. It was it was good stuff,
• 13:44
Speaker 2: halapenna cheddar, and there was some sort of I don't
• 13:47
Speaker 2: know what was the vengue. Was that like celery or something.
• 13:50
Speaker 2: It was holopena cheddar or something else. It was in
• 13:53
Speaker 2: the It was in the sausage. Did you not eat
• 13:55
  Speaker 2: the sausage it?
• 13:56
Speaker 1: Oh, I have the sausage, but I also had the chicken.
• 13:59
Speaker 1: I had some of the brisket.
• 14:00
  Speaker 5: You know.
• 14:00
Speaker 1: I was like carnivore all like everything except us salad part.
• 14:04
Speaker 3: You went with it.
• 14:05
Speaker 6: Did you look at the salad part? There was the
• 14:07
  Speaker 6: nice greens.
• 14:08
Speaker 2: There for you, sir, okay, so you went with the
• 14:10
Speaker 2: girly meats like like you said, I went to the
• 14:12
Speaker 2: barbecue restaurant and I have turkey.
• 14:15
Speaker 6: It was there and I ate it. I feel good
• 14:18
  Speaker 6: about it too.
• 14:18
Speaker 2: Look, I think you're prepared to volunteer for tele Rico's
• 14:21
Speaker 2: campaign if you're boycotting the sausage. That's not I ate
• 14:26
  Speaker 2: the sausage.
• 14:27
  Speaker 6: It was good.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: I just didn't notice the green in there. I look
• 14:29
Speaker 1: over that stuff. I look for just pure Is that meat?
• 14:32
  Speaker 1: Is that cheese?
• 14:33
Speaker 6: I'm all in, all.
• 14:34
Speaker 2: Right, So look, it's the self righteous way in which
• 14:39
Speaker 2: he lectures that. Yes, and it's saying, you know, all
• 14:43
Speaker 2: of you are morally inferior to me, and and I'm
• 14:46
Speaker 2: gonna give you an example. We're gonna play some of these,
• 14:48
Speaker 2: but I'm gonna give you an example of some of
• 14:50
Speaker 2: the things he said. He has said God is non binary. Yeah,
• 14:56
Speaker 2: now that's pretty out there. He has also said, we've
• 14:58
Speaker 2: got the montage on that. You want to play that
• 15:00
Speaker 2: real quick because we will it. We will in a second,
• 15:03
Speaker 2: but we will in a second. But but I want
• 15:05
Speaker 2: to just walk through some of it. He has also
• 15:07
Speaker 2: said they're not just just two sexes, there are actually
• 15:09
Speaker 2: six biological sexes six What day?
• 15:14
Speaker 6: What day in creation did God do the six sexes?
• 15:16
Speaker 6: I'm just curious, is that.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: On like the eighth day in the Bible? We just
• 15:19
Speaker 1: add that in there. I just want to know when
• 15:20
  Speaker 1: that happened.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: And by the way, your former employer CNN, when they
• 15:25
Speaker 2: were covering a story about I couldn't resist that about
• 15:27
Speaker 2: about pastor hitting him for saying they're six biological sexes,
• 15:31
Speaker 2: CNN put a chiron in the bottom of the screen.
• 15:34
Speaker 2: Paxton falsely claims Tallerico said they're six biological sexes. He's
• 15:39
Speaker 2: on video, We're going to play it for you and yeah,
• 15:42
Speaker 2: and are you going to believe CNN are your own
• 15:45
Speaker 2: lying years He has said that that the Bible justifies abortion,
• 15:50
Speaker 2: that he is pro abortioned because of the Bible.
• 15:53
Speaker 1: He said, pastor that so he's got to be right
• 15:56
Speaker 1: right because he's a pastor, so therefore he would never
• 15:58
Speaker 1: lie about what the Bible says he is.
• 16:00
Speaker 2: He said Jesus was a radical feminist. He has said
• 16:04
Speaker 2: white men are the greatest domestic terrorist threat in our country.
• 16:09
Speaker 1: He is six, so you don't have to worry about
• 16:11
Speaker 1: being I'm the one that's the target there.
• 16:13
  Speaker 3: Well.
• 16:14
Speaker 2: He has said that illegal immigrants are his quote constituents.
• 16:18
Speaker 2: He has posted tips to evade ice, and he said
• 16:23
Speaker 2: we should approach the southern border like our front door
• 16:26
Speaker 2: and put a welcome mat on it.
• 16:28
  Speaker 6: Yes.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: When he was a school teacher, he made his sixth
• 16:33
Speaker 2: graders write Obama memoirs. And he has said fascism will
• 16:41
Speaker 2: be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross. Listen
• 16:45
Speaker 2: to some of the greatest hits from James tall Rico.
• 16:47
Speaker 5: This is the guy you voted for. Our southern border
• 16:51
Speaker 5: should be like our front porch. There should be a
• 16:53
Speaker 5: giant welcome mat out front. There are many more than
• 16:57
  Speaker 5: two biological sexism.
• 16:59
Speaker 3: In fact, there are.
• 17:00
Speaker 5: God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between.
• 17:07
Speaker 5: God is non binary.
• 17:09
Speaker 1: Oh really, God is non binary. And by the way,
• 17:13
Speaker 1: the sixth sexes just for seeing in clarity. As you mentioned,
• 17:17
Speaker 1: you're exactly right. We have the tape, so your headline.
• 17:20
Speaker 1: You might want to, like, you know, fix it, alter it,
• 17:23
Speaker 1: change it, whatever it is. But these are just some
• 17:25
Speaker 1: of the highlights of what this guy believes in, and
• 17:27
Speaker 1: again they are trying to make him and I do
• 17:30
Speaker 1: think it's the most dangerous part. As you mentioned earlier,
• 17:33
Speaker 1: he looks like he's a really nice guy who's a pastor,
• 17:38
Speaker 1: soft spoken, he's very charismatic. That's what makes him so
• 17:42
Speaker 1: dangerous until you actually go to his own words and
• 17:46
Speaker 1: his own posts and his own speeches center that's when
• 17:49
Speaker 1: you find out what a radical he actually is.
• 17:52
Speaker 2: Well, yes, but look at least the guy loves America,
• 17:56
Speaker 2: loves the American flag, and well wait wait no, let's
• 17:59
Speaker 2: actually he listened to his own words. I want you
• 18:02
Speaker 2: to listen to what he said about the American flag.
• 18:04
Speaker 2: This again is his own words. Give a listen.
• 18:08
Speaker 5: I often think when reclaiming symbols. I think about the
• 18:10
Speaker 5: American flag. I think the Confederate flag is a symbol
• 18:13
Speaker 5: of treason and terrorism. But the American flag is such
• 18:17
Speaker 5: a complicated symbol for most of us in many ways,
• 18:19
Speaker 5: like Jesus, like the Cross, It's been co opted in
• 18:26
Speaker 5: some ways. Its true meeting has been betrayed.
• 18:28
Speaker 1: By the way he said that center in a church,
• 18:31
Speaker 1: that the American flag is a complicated symbol for most
• 18:36
Speaker 1: of us. The American flag has never been complicated for me.
• 18:40
Speaker 6: I don't know. Maybe you look kind of differently well.
• 18:43
Speaker 2: And he says the American flag is a complicated symbol,
• 18:46
Speaker 2: like Jesus and like the Cross. Those are the three
• 18:49
Speaker 2: examples he gives of complicated symbols.
• 18:53
Speaker 3: I don't think any of the three are complicated.
• 18:56
Speaker 2: And the idea that you're running to be a US
• 19:00
Speaker 2: and you look at the American flag and think.
• 19:02
  Speaker 3: It's a complicated symbol.
• 19:05
Speaker 2: You know, yes, if you are a leftist, yes, if
• 19:09
Speaker 2: you are a Marxist, yes, if you are someone who
• 19:12
Speaker 2: is his body into cultural Marxism and believes America is
• 19:16
Speaker 2: irredeemably racist, believes that we are a nation of oppressors
• 19:21
Speaker 2: oppressing victims, and that his goal is to overthrow the oppressors,
• 19:25
Speaker 2: and and and that is listen, Graham Platner in Maine
• 19:31
  Speaker 2: is more exciting.
• 19:33
Speaker 1: The SS is sad too, right, Just to remind people
• 19:35
Speaker 1: who we're talking about right now. This is the guy
• 19:37
Speaker 1: that that actually mocked and made fun of an American
• 19:41
Speaker 1: soldier being shot, saying he should have died. Uh, and
• 19:45
Speaker 1: then refuw double down on it. And the same guy
• 19:47
Speaker 1: that has an SS tattoo.
• 19:50
Speaker 2: Yes, and and look and and who is also an
• 19:54
Speaker 2: open racist. I mean he he is mocked African Americans.
• 19:57
Speaker 2: He he is he wears a Nazi tattoo, and and
• 20:01
Speaker 2: is demeaning to Jews. He's demeaning to women. He says
• 20:04
Speaker 2: women rape victims are asking for it. Platner is at
• 20:08
Speaker 2: least out in the open about who he is. But
• 20:11
Speaker 2: tallar Rica, let's take the racism of the Democrat Party
• 20:15
Speaker 2: and and and and listen, here's here's something Tall Rico
• 20:18
Speaker 2: said in another church about his own race, about being white.
• 20:22
Speaker 3: Give a listen for me.
• 20:24
Speaker 5: Prophetic voices like Jesus have helped me reckon with my
• 20:27
Speaker 5: own whiteness, my own masculinity, my own certainty, my own ego.
• 20:33
  Speaker 5: It's a never ending process and it's a painful process.
• 20:37
Speaker 1: I got to give him self awareness credit there center,
• 20:40
Speaker 1: Like when he says it's helped him deal with his masculinity.
• 20:42
Speaker 1: I think he's nipped that problem in the bud going
• 20:45
Speaker 1: vegan and talking the way he does, like by the
• 20:47
Speaker 1: Lord heard those prayers. I mean, if he was working
• 20:50
Speaker 1: on the masculinity issue, he has nailed it.
• 20:54
  Speaker 5: That.
• 20:54
Speaker 2: There's no doubt about that. If you listen to what
• 20:56
Speaker 2: he's saying. He's in a church, he behind him. If
• 20:58
Speaker 2: if you're watching the video as a giant cross behind him,
• 21:01
Speaker 2: what he calls that?
• 21:03
Speaker 3: That? That that that?
• 21:04
  Speaker 6: What is it?
• 21:04
Speaker 2: Complicated image of the cross like the American flag like Jesus,
• 21:08
Speaker 2: And he said the prophetic voices like Jesus helped him deal.
• 21:13
Speaker 2: Let's take the racist aspect his own whiteness, which is
• 21:17
Speaker 2: a hard thing to reckon with. You know, Look, I'm sorry,
• 21:20
Speaker 2: and in in my book, being white is not a
• 21:25
Speaker 2: something to be ashamed of, is not a symbol that
• 21:27
Speaker 2: you are a bad human being. But in the leftist world,
• 21:31
Speaker 2: white equals evil. This is the Marxist dichotomy. It's why
• 21:35
  Speaker 2: I'm saying he's a wolf in sheep's clothing. What he's
• 21:39
Speaker 2: saying there, everyone white is an oppressor. You're all evil,
• 21:43
Speaker 2: you're all illegitimate. That is the same thing everyone who
• 21:46
Speaker 2: is black, you're you're all oppressed and and and you
• 21:49
Speaker 2: should overthrow your evil oppressors. That is the same garbage
• 21:52
Speaker 2: that says America as a racist history from day one.
• 21:55
Speaker 2: That is who we are as irredeemably racist. It is
• 21:58
Speaker 2: a lie. Now I'll play the second clip of him
• 22:01
Speaker 2: talking about his masculinity.
• 22:03
Speaker 5: Wait, no, no need to sit and cry over you know,
• 22:07
Speaker 5: your whiteness or your masculinity, right, use it, use it
• 22:10
Speaker 5: to do something. Yeah, let's be productive.
• 22:13
Speaker 6: Wait which one is it?
• 22:14
  Speaker 5: Now?
• 22:14
  Speaker 6: I'm I'm a little confused.
• 22:15
Speaker 1: Are we masculine on Monday, Wednesday, Friday? But Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday?
• 22:20
Speaker 1: Where we just we just like turn that completely off?
• 22:23
Speaker 1: Which one is it? I just want to know.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: And this is where you really ought to be watching
• 22:28
Speaker 2: this in video, because look, tall Rico.
• 22:29
Speaker 3: Is a little dude.
• 22:31
Speaker 2: Yes, you know he may be the least likely person
• 22:36
Speaker 2: on planet Earth to be complaining about his overwhelming masculinity. Look, Ben,
• 22:42
Speaker 2: you're a big dude. I'm pretty sure you could hip
• 22:44
Speaker 2: check this guy into the next zip code. He also,
• 22:48
Speaker 2: in another clip that I don't have, explained that he
• 22:50
Speaker 2: never played sports at all growing up.
• 22:52
  Speaker 3: I believe that.
• 22:54
Speaker 6: I believe that. Yes, yes, I believe that as well.
• 22:57
Speaker 2: I will say, if you were listening to him and
• 23:01
Speaker 2: you were assembling one thousand adjectives to describe him, masculine
• 23:08
Speaker 2: would not be one of them.
• 23:10
Speaker 6: Would not be on that list.
• 23:11
Speaker 2: I'm just saying I don't think anyone would. And yet
• 23:14
Speaker 2: he described that he was crying over his masculinity, that
• 23:19
Speaker 2: he was too too masculine.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: It made him cry. By the way, she.
• 23:23
Speaker 6: Wasn't fair to everybody else, Sator, if.
• 23:26
Speaker 2: You're crying over your masculinity, it may not be your
• 23:29
Speaker 2: masculinity you're crying over. Like I'm just saying that, there's
• 23:32
Speaker 2: almost something definitionally false. But this guy is extreme, which
• 23:39
Speaker 2: means the Democrats love.
• 23:40
  Speaker 6: Him as before.
• 23:42
Speaker 1: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation
• 23:44
Speaker 1: on this topic, you can go back and dow the
• 23:46
Speaker 1: podcasts from earlier this week to hear the entire thing.
• 23:50
Speaker 1: I want to get back to the big story number
• 23:53
Speaker 1: three of the week.
• 23:53
Speaker 6: You may have missed.
• 23:54
Speaker 1: You mentioned something I want to I want to clarify.
• 23:56
Speaker 1: You said that you get too transfers. It's it's the
• 23:58
Speaker 1: first time in my life I've ever wanted to be a
• 24:00
Speaker 1: witness and anything in government, in the Senate of the House.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: As a witness, I would ask this question to the body.
• 24:06
Speaker 1: So I'll ask it to you. If I go to
• 24:09
Speaker 1: a school freshman year and the coach that recruits me,
• 24:12
Speaker 1: he quits, disappears, leaves, whatever, I get to transfer. What
• 24:16
Speaker 1: if I go to another school and then that coach
• 24:18
Speaker 1: takes another job, do I get another transfer?
• 24:21
  Speaker 3: Yes?
• 24:21
Speaker 2: Okay, anytime your coach quits, it's not fair to you
• 24:24
Speaker 2: to punish you if you were recruited.
• 24:25
Speaker 6: For the coach, just a minimum of one.
• 24:27
Speaker 2: It's unlimited there right right in that exception, because that's
• 24:30
Speaker 2: a legitimate reason to leave, and that's not going to
• 24:32
Speaker 2: happen as a widespread matter. That's not going to lead
• 24:35
Speaker 2: to you know, you know, every starting basketball player being
• 24:38
Speaker 2: recruited away at the end of every season from a team,
• 24:41
Speaker 2: which is what we're seeing sometimes now.
• 24:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, oh no, I mean I laugh. There's football teams
• 24:46
Speaker 1: now where there was like zero members from the prayer
• 24:48
Speaker 1: year on the football team, and that's a football team,
• 24:50
Speaker 1: which is huge. So who is against this legislation and
• 24:55
Speaker 1: where's the pushback coming from?
• 24:57
Speaker 3: Well, I have to say so.
• 24:58
Speaker 2: We introduced it this week and there's been surprisingly little pushback.
• 25:02
Speaker 2: It has been very well received. As I said, people
• 25:04
Speaker 2: were astonished that we could get their things are so
• 25:07
Speaker 2: broken down and partisan that they just believed there was
• 25:09
Speaker 2: no way Democrats and Republicans could come together.
• 25:12
Speaker 1: And I got to say, you're a pretty liberal guy
• 25:14
Speaker 1: like you and him, don't y'all are not usually one
• 25:16
Speaker 1: on one like this.
• 25:17
Speaker 2: Well, actually, Chris and I work on a number of
• 25:20
Speaker 2: things together. Maria Cantwell is my lead partner on this.
• 25:22
Speaker 2: She's the ranking member on Commerce, and we literally have
• 25:25
Speaker 2: been negotiating for the last month. We've been spending six
• 25:28
Speaker 2: to eight hours a day in a room negotiating directly
• 25:32
Speaker 2: provision by provision. It has been painstaking and we had
• 25:36
Speaker 2: to reach middle grounds where there are provisions in there
• 25:39
Speaker 2: that don't go as far as I would like, but
• 25:41
Speaker 2: don't go as far as she would like, and that's
• 25:43
Speaker 2: how you have to get there. But our opposition is
• 25:46
Speaker 2: coming from two places. Number one, the extreme far left,
• 25:50
Speaker 2: and number two, big money. And let me break that
• 25:52
Speaker 2: down the extreme far left. To date, only one senator
• 25:56
Speaker 2: out of one hundred has publicly criticized that. That's Chris Murphy,
• 25:59
Speaker 2: the very liberal senator from Connecticut who's blasted this, says,
• 26:03
Speaker 2: this doesn't do enough for athletes and it just helps millionaires.
• 26:06
Speaker 2: And it's look, the far left is listening to to
• 26:13
Speaker 2: union bosses and trial lawyers that want a system where
• 26:17
Speaker 2: number one, their constant lawsuits. Every university is being sued NonStop,
• 26:21
Speaker 2: Every conference being sued NonStop, every league is being sued NonStop.
• 26:25
Speaker 2: And number two, every student athlete is an employee. They're unionized,
• 26:30
Speaker 2: their union members, they're paying union dues. Those union dues
• 26:33
Speaker 2: are going to fund Democrat candidates. Both of those are
• 26:37
Speaker 2: terrible outcomes for college sports and a whole lot of
• 26:41
Speaker 2: the programs the historically black colleges and universities who said
• 26:43
Speaker 2: if that happens, they'll shut down their entire athletic department.
• 26:46
Speaker 2: I mean, that's the consequence that would end up taking
• 26:50
Speaker 2: away athletic opportunity for over time millions of kids. So
• 26:54
Speaker 2: that that's a terrible outcome. But that's one area pushback
• 26:57
Speaker 2: is the very far left. The other other area of
• 27:00
Speaker 2: pushback is big money. And you know I mentioned that
• 27:03
Speaker 2: we're on a path to consolidation in thirty to fifty schools.
• 27:07
Speaker 2: In college football, there are two conferences that account for
• 27:11
Speaker 2: more than two thirds of the revenue, and that is
• 27:12
Speaker 2: the SEC and the Big Ten. That's where the eyeballs are.
• 27:16
Speaker 2: They generate massive revenue because look, that's where most of
• 27:20
Speaker 2: the best football in America is being played. Is the
• 27:22
Speaker 2: SEC in Big Ten, not exclusively, but very heavily those
• 27:25
Speaker 2: two conferences. There has been a lot of talk in
• 27:28
Speaker 2: those two conferences about merging and forming a super league.
• 27:34
Speaker 2: Now I think that would be a terrible outcome. You'd
• 27:36
Speaker 2: end up with the rich getting richer, but all of
• 27:39
Speaker 2: the rest of college sports would be left behind. It
• 27:41
Speaker 2: would basically transform the other schools into.
• 27:46
Speaker 6: Hirid Describer's Division two.
• 27:47
Speaker 1: You wouldn't be able to compete at the same level,
• 27:49
Speaker 1: you wouldn't have the same quality players. Anybody that cared
• 27:52
Speaker 1: about football and wanted to play at the highest level
• 27:54
Speaker 1: and play for national championship would go to the Super Conference,
• 27:57
Speaker 1: right like, right now, you want to go to the SEC.
• 27:59
Speaker 1: And if you're from the North Northeast, you may want
• 28:01
Speaker 1: to go in other schools, but in general, that's the
• 28:03
Speaker 1: holy grail. You do what you just describe and have
• 28:06
Speaker 1: them two come together. Every other school in America is
• 28:08
  Speaker 1: a loser now.
• 28:09
Speaker 2: And by the way, it's even worse than that because
• 28:11
Speaker 2: they lose essentially all of their TV revenue, which funds
• 28:14
Speaker 2: the rest of their athletic department. So the other schools
• 28:17
Speaker 2: cancel all the non revenue starts, they slash athletics all together,
• 28:20
Speaker 2: they eliminate scholarships, so you end up with millions of
• 28:24
Speaker 2: kids over time not being able to go to school
• 28:26
Speaker 2: to play sports. And it's not just those kids, because
• 28:32
Speaker 2: an awful lot of eyeballs people learn about a school
• 28:35
Speaker 2: by watching March Madness, by watching sports, and they end
• 28:38
Speaker 2: up applying to the school and you know, a Gonzaga,
• 28:42
Speaker 2: you know I mean, and they end up It drives.
• 28:45
Speaker 2: When your school does well in athletics, your applications sow,
• 28:48
Speaker 2: your donations from alumni sore, and so you end up
• 28:52
Speaker 2: badly damaging a bunch of schools, not just in sports,
• 28:55
Speaker 2: but all together and hurting universities. So what does this
• 28:58
  Speaker 2: bill do.
• 28:59
  Speaker 3: Number one, it.
• 29:00
Speaker 2: Explicitly prohibits a super league. It prohibits the Big Ten
• 29:03
Speaker 2: and the SEC from combining. It just says, no, that's
• 29:06
Speaker 2: bad for sports, it's bad for athletes, it's bad for football.
• 29:10
Speaker 2: That is prohibited. Now you know what, the leadership of
• 29:13
Speaker 2: the SEC in particular is not happy about prohibiting a
• 29:16
Speaker 2: super league. But secondly, so the way I looked at
• 29:20
Speaker 2: this problem, there are two elements. There's a cost element
• 29:23
Speaker 2: and a revenue element. On the cost side, you want
• 29:25
Speaker 2: to slow down the out of control spiraling that is
• 29:28
Speaker 2: bankrupting most of the programs so that the programs can
• 29:31
Speaker 2: stay vibrant and kids can keep having these opportunities. But
• 29:34
Speaker 2: on the revenue side, we looked hard for how do
• 29:37
Speaker 2: we grow the revenue that is available to fund college sports.
• 29:40
Speaker 2: And what we do is we allow colleges to join
• 29:44
Speaker 2: together and negotiate for media rights jointly. That I believe
• 29:48
Speaker 2: will significantly increase the revenue. So, for example, the number
• 29:53
Speaker 2: one source of eyeballs and revenue in TV is the NFL.
• 29:56
  Speaker 3: It's massive.
• 29:57
Speaker 2: The number two is college football. And yet amazingly, even
• 30:01
Speaker 2: though a lot more people watch college football than the NBA.
• 30:05
Speaker 2: The NBA makes billions more in its media contracts, and
• 30:08
Speaker 2: there's a reason the NBA negotiates as one unit. You
• 30:12
Speaker 2: don't have the Houston Rockets negotiating against the Knicks and
• 30:15
Speaker 2: fighting each other, and yet in college conferences that's what
• 30:18
Speaker 2: you have. So this allows conferences to come together. It's voluntary,
• 30:22
Speaker 2: so no one's forced to come together.
• 30:23
Speaker 6: Yeah, no one's forced too.

Speaker 2: But it lets them come together and negotiate jointly for
• 30:28
Speaker 2: media rights. I believe that would expand by billions of
• 30:32
Speaker 2: dollars the money coming in, which means that there's more
• 30:35
Speaker 2: money for the other sports. And we write in that
• 30:37
Speaker 2: if you do this, if you get joint media rights,
• 30:40
Speaker 2: you must maintain every single roster spot and every single
• 30:44
Speaker 2: scholarship spot for women's and men's sports, for Olympic sports,
• 30:48
Speaker 2: for track and field, for tennis, for all the non
• 30:51
Speaker 2: revenue sports. You got to maintain them if you're getting
• 30:54
Speaker 2: a lot more money through football. And so it's designed
• 30:56
Speaker 2: to be a win win for everyone. But look the
• 31:00
Speaker 2: that the leadership of the SEC has said that they're
• 31:03
Speaker 2: not interested. And I'm look Greg Sank, I know, well,
• 31:05
Speaker 2: Tony Petiti, who leads the Big Ten.
• 31:08
Speaker 3: I know him well.
• 31:09
Speaker 2: I've talked to both of them and I've said, listen,
• 31:10
Speaker 2: this is voluntary. It only works if you guys choose
• 31:14
Speaker 2: to participate. That means the other schools have to offer
• 31:17
Speaker 2: you a good enough deal that y'all are making a
• 31:19
Speaker 2: lot more money and so are they. That is a
• 31:21
Speaker 2: win win for everyone. That's the outcome. I hope we
• 31:24
Speaker 2: see because I want to see college sports continue to
• 31:28
Speaker 2: be an amazing thing for athletes, for students to continue
• 31:31
Speaker 2: to be an amazing thing for universities, and a great
• 31:34
Speaker 2: thing for fans. Look, it is an awesome thing to
• 31:37
Speaker 2: cheer on your school. And you asked about the Lane
• 31:39
Speaker 2: Kiffin rule. It provides that coaches cannot be hired away
• 31:44
Speaker 2: during the season or during the playoffs. We adopt the
• 31:46
Speaker 2: same rule as the NFL, which is you got to
• 31:49
Speaker 2: wait till the off season, because it's not fair to
• 31:51
Speaker 2: do what happened to the fans of Ole miss to
• 31:53
Speaker 2: take their coach right going into the playoffs. That's just wrong.
• 31:57
Speaker 1: As always, thank you for listening to verdict with Senator
• 32:00
