Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Good news on the events front. Well, unless you're Helling Clark,
- 0:02Speaker 1: I suppose living nearby Eden Park. The government's allowing them
- 0:05Speaker 1: to host twelve large and twenty medium sized concerts a year,
- 0:09Speaker 1: any day of the week, no need for a resource consent.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Currently they're only allowed twelve concerts a year total. Vivbek,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Heart of the City, good morning, good morning, Hey, before
- 0:20Speaker 1: we get to that great weekend over in Auckland. This
- 0:23Speaker 1: weekend wasn't it was sale gp.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We got great? Well? Oh the Valentine's Day cruise ship
- 0:28Speaker 2: in town, it was brilliant.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It was packed, wasn't it?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Absolutely yeah? Great?
- 0:32Speaker 1: So are we going to be packed again for more
- 0:34Speaker 1: nights and on more occasions with this announcement?
- 0:37Speaker 2: Well, look on, I haven't seen the detail, but it
- 0:40Speaker 2: does looked like good news for the central city. We
- 0:42Speaker 2: do benefit from major events, so yeah, I know it
- 0:46Speaker 2: looks like good news. I mean, I think back to
- 0:48Speaker 2: Metallica just before Christmas. That was absolutely brilliant. The fans
- 0:52Speaker 2: stayed around for days. I'm queuing around the block for
- 0:56Speaker 2: merchandise sales and the central city that was a really
- 1:00Speaker 2: great major events. So yes, no, it does look like
- 1:03Speaker 2: good news.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I went for a drive on Saturday night and just
- 1:08Speaker 1: to check out the city. And it was about nine o'clock.
- 1:11Speaker 1: At eight o'clock, nine o'clock, took my parents in law
- 1:14Speaker 1: run for a drive around Auckland and we're you know,
- 1:17Speaker 1: Viaduct pumping, Ponsonby Road pumping. It's all looking great. Restaurants
- 1:22Speaker 1: are full, bars are for k Road. Still a problem,
- 1:26Speaker 1: isn't it.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not our area, but so I wouldn't want
- 1:30Speaker 2: to speak for it, but that you know, you can
- 1:32Speaker 2: have a chat to them about that. But I think
- 1:34Speaker 2: twenty twenty six from our perspective is a major turnaround.
- 1:38Speaker 2: As you know, we've talked many times we've had a
- 1:40Speaker 2: tough decade, but this is a year that we're anticipating
- 1:44Speaker 2: the begin around. We saw the conventions tend to open
- 1:46Speaker 2: last week. That's going to be a game changer for
- 1:50Speaker 2: that midtown area and really help us drive that growth
- 1:54Speaker 2: in the business events which are also a major driver
- 1:57Speaker 2: of economic value. They attract jobs, high v you, visitors,
- 2:01Speaker 2: international investment, and exposure. This is the big turnaround that
- 2:06Speaker 2: we've been waiting for and we're really excited about that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's good. And the city rail link to
- 2:11Speaker 1: all the stations are all.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Well, it's a part of it, yeah, all.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Right, but leave it there. Thank you for beck Heart
- 2:18Speaker 1: of the City with us this morning.
