- 1:36SPEAKER_12: She had track practice.
- 1:38SPEAKER_12: And Finn is like that always cracks me up.
- 1:43SPEAKER_12: What?
- 1:43SPEAKER_12: Track practice.
- 1:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:45SPEAKER_12: It's just they're trying to get personal bests and well, yeah.
- 1:48SPEAKER_10: It's just it's just funny.
- 1:49SPEAKER_10: I mean all right, let's go run.
- 1:53SPEAKER_12: That's basically what it is.
- 1:55SPEAKER_10: All right, all right, all right, okay, run over there.
- 1:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_12: Alright, now jump up and down.
- 2:00SPEAKER_10: Just do that.
- 2:01SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 2:03SPEAKER_10: Do you really need a coach?
- 2:04SPEAKER_10: It's conditioning.
- 2:05SPEAKER_10: It's no, I get that.
- 2:07SPEAKER_10: I I get that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_10: It's just funny to me.
- 2:09SPEAKER_10: I I don't know.
- 2:09SPEAKER_10: I just I just laugh.
- 2:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:11SPEAKER_10: The coach is We're gonna run over there so we can run.
- 2:15SPEAKER_12: He does they do have for the high school track, uh, they do have um uh I mean all the coaches are good, but there's one uh coach who's a doctor, um, but he was a track star in college, and so he really knows what he's doing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_12: Um and he's a doctor.
- 2:32SPEAKER_12: And he's a doctor.
- 2:33SPEAKER_12: Most of them are um just really good cheerleaders.
- 2:38SPEAKER_10: You know, and they well, I mean that it's one of those sports where like bowling.
- 2:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah, why would you need a coach?
- 2:48SPEAKER_10: I mean, just all right, roll the ball down there and try to hit all those pants.
- 2:53SPEAKER_10: Good job.
- 2:54SPEAKER_10: All right, who's next?
- 2:55SPEAKER_10: Well, have you ever been to a track meet?
- 2:57SPEAKER_10: Yes, I have.
- 2:58SPEAKER_12: It's chaotic and it's yeah, it's it's like hurting cats.
- 3:01SPEAKER_12: It is, and it's like everything is going on at the same time and it lasts for 20 hours.
- 3:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_12: Um, so uh the coaches are necessary to I mean everybody thinks that there should be a time limit on baseball.
- 3:12SPEAKER_10: There should be a time limit on track meets.
- 3:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, track meets.
- 3:15SPEAKER_12: I've been to a track meet before.
- 3:16SPEAKER_12: That's like five, six hours.
- 3:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they're crazy.
- 3:18SPEAKER_12: It's crazy, it's crazy.
- 3:19SPEAKER_12: Um, but you know, uh Eli did very well, so that's good.
- 3:22SPEAKER_12: Of course he did.
- 3:23SPEAKER_12: Finn's working, Finn's doing some yard work and uh making some cash.
- 3:30SPEAKER_12: Making some cash cash money.
- 3:32SPEAKER_12: Um I'm uh kind of discombobulated as well because I haven't uh done anything to prepare for this week.
- 3:39SPEAKER_12: So I'm excited.
- 3:40SPEAKER_12: Um I have one day of school left.
- 3:43SPEAKER_12: Uh and then at the end of the day tomorrow I'm going to the Allstate Music Festival.

- 4:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_12: That's why I bring two guitars.
- 4:44SPEAKER_10: No, I I totally get that.
- 4:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_12: Um really that's it, because I don't think I have to well out my iPad, but I don't have to bring anything else besides.
- 4:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we don't have to bring speakers or anything.

- 5:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:06SPEAKER_12: We'll have a good time.
- 5:07SPEAKER_12: I was thinking about this.
- 5:08SPEAKER_12: You are um are you singing like the first three or four songs?
- 5:16SPEAKER_10: I'm singing the first one, I know for sure.
- 5:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, isn't the second one play that fucking music?
- 5:21SPEAKER_12: No.
- 5:22SPEAKER_12: No?
- 5:22SPEAKER_10: No, because we're going right into something else.
- 5:25SPEAKER_12: Uh oh, that's the old one.
- 5:27SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 5:28unknown: T.
- 5:29SPEAKER_10: There should be a new one.
- 5:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, didn't he didn't he r redo redo the set list?
- 5:33SPEAKER_12: I thought he did.
- 5:34SPEAKER_12: This one is from April 24th.
- 5:35SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 5:36SPEAKER_12: That's not the one.
- 5:38SPEAKER_12: Why am I why am I is this not refreshed?
- 5:41SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 5:43SPEAKER_12: I think you're because he changed it to hold on.
- 5:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_10: Well, we were talking about that, because at the last practice we were like, well, we should change it.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: Oh, here we go.
- 5:51SPEAKER_12: Hold hold on.
- 5:52SPEAKER_10: So it should be with that post.
- 5:54SPEAKER_12: Uh I think it's this one right now.
- 5:56SPEAKER_12: You think so?
- 5:56SPEAKER_12: Uh well, maybe not.
- 5:58SPEAKER_10: Uh I think it's the one with the outline.
- 6:00SPEAKER_12: Here it is.
- 6:00SPEAKER_12: Oh, did you find it out?
- 6:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 6:02SPEAKER_12: So we go to hold on and then feel it still.
- 6:04SPEAKER_12: So it's you, then Mark, then you, then me.
- 6:07SPEAKER_12: And Anthony doesn't sing until like the fifth song in.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: And then it's you again, twice.
- 6:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:14SPEAKER_12: And then Anthony, and then you.
- 6:16SPEAKER_12: And then Mark.
- 6:18SPEAKER_12: And then Melissa.
- 6:20SPEAKER_12: And then you.
- 6:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_13: It's gonna be a lot of things.
- 6:22SPEAKER_13: It's gonna be a lot of me.
- 6:23SPEAKER_13: It's gonna be a lot of you.
- 6:25SPEAKER_10: I don't know how I feel about that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_12: It should be fun.
- 6:28SPEAKER_12: Anthony, our our our lead singer, technically sings two songs.
- 6:33SPEAKER_12: Well, well, we're saving him for the summer.
- 6:35SPEAKER_10: Three.
- 6:36SPEAKER_12: Three songs.
- 6:36SPEAKER_10: We're saving them for the summer.
- 6:37SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 6:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 6:39SPEAKER_12: That's a good that's a good way to look at it.
- 6:40SPEAKER_12: But this is a I mean, this will be a fun set list.
- 6:42SPEAKER_10: Well, I think that's what we were going for.
- 6:44SPEAKER_10: It was just like, you know, what's our like the best of the best kind of thing?
- 6:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_12: So well, I don't think we're playing the best of the best.
- 6:51SPEAKER_12: Well, pretty close.
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: Pretty close.
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, pretty close.
- 6:53SPEAKER_12: But I think there's yeah, I think they're gonna the kids are gonna have fun.
- 6:55SPEAKER_12: I hope so.
- 6:56SPEAKER_12: We're gonna have fun.
- 6:56SPEAKER_10: Uh that's uh as long as everybody has fun, I'm I'm happy.
- 7:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:00SPEAKER_10: So it should be interesting.
- 7:02SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 7:03SPEAKER_12: Uh so I'm excited about that, but I have a lot to do before we do that because I'm leaving at the end.
- 7:08SPEAKER_12: You got a busy night, man.
- 7:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:11SPEAKER_12: Uh we have some things we could talk about today.
- 7:14SPEAKER_12: Um, not the least of which is mixed tape.
- 7:16SPEAKER_12: So we'll get to that a little bit later on.
- 7:19SPEAKER_12: But uh, what else is going on in the world today?
- 7:21SPEAKER_12: Anything?
- 7:23SPEAKER_10: Well, I I I'm having a problem with retirement?
- 7:29SPEAKER_10: No.
- 7:29SPEAKER_10: No, that's fine.
- 7:30SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 7:31SPEAKER_10: Everybody's like, hey, you must be getting bored.
- 7:34SPEAKER_10: No.
- 7:35SPEAKER_10: No.
- 7:35SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 7:35SPEAKER_10: I can always find something to do.
- 7:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 7:37SPEAKER_10: That's the beauty of it.
- 7:38SPEAKER_12: And you have time to do it.
- 7:39SPEAKER_10: And I have time to do it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_10: I don't have to worry about, oh, I gotta get this done because I gotta go back to work tomorrow.
- 7:44SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 7:44SPEAKER_10: No.
- 7:44SPEAKER_10: It's like, oh, I can do this today and then I can do that tomorrow.
- 7:48SPEAKER_12: Do you feel a weight lifted?
- 7:49SPEAKER_10: Oh, absolutely.
- 7:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_10: Everything I am so chill now, because I don't have to worry about where I'm gonna be and do this and you know, it is so chill.
- 8:01SPEAKER_10: Good.
- 8:02SPEAKER_10: It's it's it's improved my mood like 150%.
- 8:06SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 8:06SPEAKER_12: So I used to be like really part of that was because the line of work that you were in.
- 8:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah, and just dealing with people.
- 8:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 8:13SPEAKER_10: Now I there are some days when I only talk to two people the entire day.
- 8:17SPEAKER_10: Which is great.
- 8:18SPEAKER_10: It's it's awesome.
- 8:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it really is awesome.
- 8:20SPEAKER_10: But I'm finding I'm watching, you know, because I discovered um have you ever heard of the show Ghosts?
- 8:28SPEAKER_12: I have.
- 8:28SPEAKER_12: I've not seen it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_12: I've seen pr like previews.
- 8:30SPEAKER_12: It's hysterical.
- 8:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 8:32SPEAKER_10: It is my new favorite show.
- 8:33SPEAKER_10: I've been binging it.
- 8:34SPEAKER_10: But when I walk, I have to watch it on Paramount Plus, right?
- 8:38SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 8:38SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 8:39SPEAKER_10: So of course there's commercials involved.
- 8:41SPEAKER_10: Uh-huh.
- 8:41SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 8:42SPEAKER_10: Well, probably 50% of the commercials are for some sort of drug, for some sort of disease.
- 8:50SPEAKER_12: And they all have like a minute and a half thing at the end where it says may cause.
- 8:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah, well, that's the thing.
- 8:55SPEAKER_10: It's like it's like, oh, this could cause anal bleeding and cancer of the throat, or you know, you know, it just goes on with these horrible things that are way worse than what they're trying to treat.
- 9:06SPEAKER_10: And what's going on in the commercial is like they're like hiking, you know, having a picnic, and while they're while they're listing off all these horrible things that you could get from taking this drug to cure whatever.
- 9:19SPEAKER_10: And I just find it very disturbing.
- 9:21SPEAKER_10: The other thing that I found is that commercials that I should not be making fun of, I really want to make fun of.
- 9:29SPEAKER_12: Give me an example.
- 9:30SPEAKER_10: Like, there's a there's a commercial for like some sort of like what is it?
- 9:37SPEAKER_10: Oh, it's from uh uh the Department of Transportation is about texting while driving.
- 9:42SPEAKER_08: Uh-huh.
- 9:43SPEAKER_10: They're calling Intoxication.
- 9:46SPEAKER_10: Oh my word.
- 9:47SPEAKER_10: Don't drive intoxicated.
- 9:50SPEAKER_10: I want to make fun of it so bad.
- 9:52SPEAKER_10: But it's I mean, it's super important.
- 9:55SPEAKER_10: You shouldn't definitely shouldn't text my cars, yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_10: Because I see it all the time.
- 9:59SPEAKER_10: I mean, you you can see it when you drive.
- 10:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, you can see them with the phone in right in the front of their face.
- 10:03SPEAKER_10: Well, that or they're looking down.
- 10:05SPEAKER_10: It's like, I know you're not checking out your speedometer the whole time.
- 10:08SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 10:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:08SPEAKER_10: You know, I know what you're doing.
- 10:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_10: But I'm like, you know, we're Gen X.
- 10:14SPEAKER_10: We're sarcastic.
- 10:15SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 10:16SPEAKER_10: We want to make fun of it.
- 10:17SPEAKER_10: Plus, I'm a veteran, so I got that really dark, twisted sense of humor also to go along with it.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: Which is great.
- 10:23SPEAKER_10: But you want to, you feel bad for thinking these thoughts about these commercials.
- 10:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_10: Like there was like, I don't know, there was like another commercial for something that's really serious, and I just in my head, I'm just like, these things are intrusive thoughts about, you know, that's you know, that really should not be said out loud, are going through my head the entire time, and I'm thinking, man, I am a horrible person.
- 10:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:50SPEAKER_10: You know, because I'm thinking I'm thinking these things, and I think they're hilarious, but I would, you know, I feel bad thinking them, but I'm just like, that's so funny.
- 10:59SPEAKER_12: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 11:01SPEAKER_12: That's healthy.
- 11:02SPEAKER_10: I know, but I just, it's like, it's like a really serious commercial.
- 11:06SPEAKER_10: You're like, these people are like, you know, they're being all like teary-eyed and stuff on the commercial, and I'm like coming up with like cracks, you know.
- 11:15SPEAKER_10: I'm like, and I just I feel really terrible.
- 11:19SPEAKER_12: So what do you do?
- 11:20SPEAKER_12: About do you say anything?
- 11:21SPEAKER_12: Do you do to yourself?
- 11:22SPEAKER_10: I mean, that's that's when I've discovered that I should do a crossword puzzle.
- 11:27SPEAKER_10: That way I'm not paying attention to the commercial, I'm concentrating on a crossword puzzle.
- 11:33SPEAKER_10: So I'm improving my vocabulary and my thought processes, and not so much trying to make fun of whatever's going on the TV.
- 11:40SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 11:41SPEAKER_12: So it's a real struggle.
- 11:42SPEAKER_12: And you haven't been watching a lot of TV because you've been working all the time, right?
- 11:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 11:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:46SPEAKER_10: So this so watching commercial and before it was just like show, show, show, show.
- 11:51SPEAKER_10: You know, sometimes you just watch shows.
- 11:53SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 11:53SPEAKER_10: But with when you get these subscription packages, they gotta pay for it somehow.
- 11:58SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 11:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:58SPEAKER_10: So they they put commercials and it just drives me crazy because I'd just rather watch the show, watch the show, watch the show.
- 12:04SPEAKER_10: You know, no commercials.
- 12:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:05SPEAKER_12: But those pharmaceutical commercials, though, I mean, it's just so hard to watch.
- 12:09SPEAKER_12: No, it's like well, like you mentioned, it may cause anal bleeding.
- 12:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you know what?
- 12:13SPEAKER_12: I'll just stick with the disease that I have.
- 12:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I mean, because while it's like it's like they're advertising for something for bipolar disease depression and stuff like that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_10: And they're saying the side effect could be suicidal thoughts.
- 12:26SPEAKER_10: I'm thinking, that's exactly opposite of what you want.
- 12:30SPEAKER_10: Here, you're depressed, here, take this medicine, it'll make you kill yourself.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: Well, it's like it may cause this.
- 12:36SPEAKER_08: But there's a chance that it won't.
- 12:38SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 12:39SPEAKER_10: I mean, there's like so it's like Russian roulette.
- 12:41SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 12:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:42SPEAKER_10: You know, and maybe you won't blow your brains out, maybe you will.
- 12:44SPEAKER_10: We don't know.
- 12:45SPEAKER_10: Here you go, take it.
- 12:46SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 12:47SPEAKER_10: Oh, it just drives me crazy.
- 12:48SPEAKER_12: Exactly why I steer clear of that stuff.
- 12:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:51SPEAKER_12: You know, um, I see, I see, I actually know at least one person that's uh taking the um injection uh drug, whatever it is, to lose weight.
- 13:03SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, I've seen those commercials too.
- 13:05SPEAKER_12: Uh and it's it's working for this person.
- 13:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and they look fantastic.
- 13:08SPEAKER_12: Well, good.
- 13:09SPEAKER_12: I will never do that.
- 13:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I just I'm sorry.
- 13:12SPEAKER_12: I'm not going to.
- 13:13SPEAKER_10: Yeah, there were there were what was it was one of the and the one of the side effects was just something like completely like I was like, holy freaking shit.
- 13:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah, right.
- 13:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:21SPEAKER_10: How much is weight loss worth to you for that?
- 13:23SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know what's the possibility.
- 13:24SPEAKER_10: I'll just uh I'll go for a jog.
- 13:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'll just let me eat a salad.
- 13:28SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:30SPEAKER_10: I'll go for a walk.
- 13:31SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 13:32SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 13:33SPEAKER_10: So uh yeah, so I'm just you know.
- 13:36SPEAKER_12: I wanted to uh uh I was driving around today and I've and I was listening to music.
- 13:43SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, that's great.
- 13:44SPEAKER_12: No, really not you so I was listening to a song that we both know and love, and I just uh was just like I don't know.
- 13:57SPEAKER_12: I was in heaven almost like in tears, but not quite in tears.
- 14:03SPEAKER_12: But it was it it's just this this little section in this song has always moved me.
- 14:10SPEAKER_12: And it's just a musical, it's a musical um section.
- 14:15SPEAKER_12: There's no singing.
- 14:16SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 14:17SPEAKER_12: Uh and it is it is during the guitar solo, but that's not why I was getting emotional.
- 14:23SPEAKER_12: Well no, uh it's it's uh Todo, uh I won't hold you back.
- 14:30SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, that's a great song.
- 14:32SPEAKER_12: Okay, so that was pretty loud.
- 14:36SPEAKER_12: Fries are up! That was pretty loud.
- 14:37SPEAKER_12: I apologize for that.
- 14:39SPEAKER_12: Um and during the guitar solo, which is a fantastic guitar solo from Steve Lukather.
- 14:45SPEAKER_12: Um Has Steve Lukather ever done a bad one?
- 14:48SPEAKER_12: That's true.
- 14:49SPEAKER_12: I don't think he has.
- 14:51SPEAKER_12: Um, I want to go to it here because I'll just play a little piece of it.
- 14:55SPEAKER_12: I just when I when I hear a piece of music that is, I don't know, just so moving to me, I have to share it.
- 15:07SPEAKER_12: So this is the song I'm talking about.
- 15:09SPEAKER_12: Everybody knows this song.
- 15:10SPEAKER_12: This was a hit song for from uh Toto 4.
- 15:13SPEAKER_12: I won't hold you back.
- 15:15SPEAKER_12: Um but and I won't not that I'm wasting your time by playing it, but I I won't.
- 15:22SPEAKER_12: Dude, this is never a waste of time.
- 15:24SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 15:24SPEAKER_12: Listen to Toto.
- 15:25SPEAKER_12: Well, just I mean, Steve Lukather had the perfect voice for the song, too.
- 15:33SPEAKER_12: So I'm listening to this.
- 15:34SPEAKER_12: I think this one was this this morning.
- 15:36SPEAKER_12: No, actually, no, this one was tonight.
- 15:39SPEAKER_12: Uh I was coming back from uh the track meet.
- 15:42SPEAKER_12: I was coming to pick up my art.
- 15:43SPEAKER_12: So this was on, and uh, I just so it's this section right here.
- 15:49SPEAKER_12: Um has like French horns and it's very orchestrated.
- 15:59SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_12: There's strings, there's a horn section, and there's Luke's guitar.
- 16:03SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 16:04SPEAKER_12: And it's like the perfect storm.
- 16:07SPEAKER_12: I don't know if it's what you call a counterpoint or um it's just the what the French horns do in behind the guitar solo that to me is like musical perfection.
- 16:23SPEAKER_12: So and I don't you have you've ever noticed this before.
- 16:26SPEAKER_12: Maybe you have, uh, because I know you're a big total fan too.
- 16:29SPEAKER_12: And just listen to the horns in the background.
- 17:15SPEAKER_12: Is that not musical perfection?
- 17:17SPEAKER_10: It's amazing, man.
- 17:18SPEAKER_10: I mean, it it perfectly it perfectly compliments the guitar solo.
- 17:23SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 17:28SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah.
- 17:34SPEAKER_12: I mean, come on.
- 17:35SPEAKER_12: That little and then it goes up.
- 17:38SPEAKER_12: Uh oh my lord.
- 17:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't know who did the orchestration on that, but it was really it's gotta be David Page, who's the the piano player and songwriter.
- 17:54SPEAKER_12: It's gotta be, it's gotta be.
- 17:55SPEAKER_12: Uh just amazing.
- 17:57SPEAKER_12: Just amazing stuff.
- 17:58SPEAKER_12: But that's not the that's not the other the only thing.
- 18:00SPEAKER_12: So I heard that on the way home.
- 18:01SPEAKER_12: Uh this morning when I was going to work, I was going into to the school, um, I heard a um classic rock song that I used to have on 45.
- 18:13SPEAKER_12: Uh I think it was probably it was when I was living in um uh Marshall, actually.
- 18:19SPEAKER_12: Um, that I don't know if this song came out around that time.
- 18:22SPEAKER_12: It probably did.
- 18:23SPEAKER_12: It was like 88, 89, 88, 87, 88.
- 18:28SPEAKER_12: Um I'll find out for sure here in a second.
- 18:31SPEAKER_12: Um but the song came on and I had it on 45 because I loved it so much and I forgot about it.
- 18:39SPEAKER_10: And as it was it like the main song or was it like a B side?
- 18:42SPEAKER_12: Um You know the B side was also really good.
- 18:49SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 18:50SPEAKER_12: Um That's rare.
- 18:52SPEAKER_12: It is rare.
- 18:54SPEAKER_12: I'm trying to think of what the B side was, though.
- 18:56SPEAKER_12: Holy cow.
- 18:59SPEAKER_12: Uh hold on a second.
- 19:02SPEAKER_12: Let me just take a look.
- 19:04SPEAKER_12: Uh because before I present it to you, I want to see if I can tell you what the B side is.
- 19:10SPEAKER_12: And the B side probably would be something from that same album, maybe?
- 19:14SPEAKER_10: Well, I would think I would think so, yeah.
- 19:16SPEAKER_10: Usually that's the way it works.
- 19:18SPEAKER_10: Uh usually.
- 19:19SPEAKER_12: Let's see, let's see, let's see.
- 19:20SPEAKER_12: So don't look here because I want to surprise you with what this song is.
- 19:24SPEAKER_12: Um was it on this album?
- 19:27SPEAKER_12: Let's see a track list.
- 19:28SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 19:29SPEAKER_12: Track list.
- 19:31SPEAKER_12: No, it's not on this album.
- 19:33SPEAKER_12: Must have been the next one.
- 19:37SPEAKER_12: Nope.
- 19:38SPEAKER_12: Let's see.
- 19:38SPEAKER_12: Where's their discography?
- 19:41SPEAKER_12: Discography.
- 19:43SPEAKER_12: Discography.
- 19:44SPEAKER_12: That's not the disc- Oh, here we go.
- 19:46SPEAKER_12: Okay, so let's see.
- 19:48SPEAKER_12: Was it on Oh, I think it was on this one.
- 19:55SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, so.
- 20:03SPEAKER_12: Alright, let me see if I can one of these is the B-side.
- 20:06SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 20:11SPEAKER_12: I'll tell you the band.
- 20:12SPEAKER_12: The band is 38 special.
- 20:15SPEAKER_12: Um This is my son trying to get someone to uh come and pick him up.
- 20:31SPEAKER_12: Wasn't that one?
- 20:33SPEAKER_12: Um I know not.
- 20:35SPEAKER_12: I don't know if this was the bee side or not.
- 20:37SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 20:38SPEAKER_12: I can tell you though.
- 20:39SPEAKER_12: Um if it wasn't this one Heart's on Fire, maybe.
- 20:50SPEAKER_12: Nope, that's not it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_12: Um one second.
- 20:56SPEAKER_12: I don't think because there was there was a there was a there were two hits uh from this album, and at least two hits.
- 21:04SPEAKER_12: And one of the one of them was n was not like the B side was not a hit.
- 21:10SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 21:11SPEAKER_12: Uh I think this is my heart song.
- 21:14SPEAKER_12: Let's see.
- 21:15SPEAKER_12: Let's see if this was not it either.
- 21:22SPEAKER_12: Anyway, I'm not gonna waste any more time on that.
- 21:24SPEAKER_12: Okay, so the song that I'm talking about that I think is perfection.
- 21:33SPEAKER_12: And you know, I know there's gonna be people that disagree with me, and and I understand.
- 21:37SPEAKER_12: I don't care, but I understand.
- 21:40SPEAKER_12: Um I'm talking about um several hooks in the song.
- 21:48SPEAKER_12: I'm talking about chord progressions um unpredictable.
- 21:56SPEAKER_12: Like not like going somewhere where you didn't expect it to go to like landing.
- 22:00SPEAKER_12: Somewhere on a chord that you didn't expect.
- 22:04SPEAKER_12: Uh lyrically.
- 22:07SPEAKER_12: Um it's okay.
- 22:10SPEAKER_12: Um because uh I'm not gonna say they're bad lyrics because I just said I just said to you that uh it's perfection.
- 22:25SPEAKER_12: I'm sorry.
- 22:26SPEAKER_12: My son is because I don't want to leave him stranded.
- 22:28SPEAKER_12: Well maybe I should leave him stranded.
- 22:32SPEAKER_10: Come home or hang out with my awesome girlfriend.
- 22:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, right.
- 22:36SPEAKER_12: Oh he just okay, so no, hold on a second.
- 22:40SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 22:43SPEAKER_12: So I said, because he's he's at his girlfriend and he was he was working and now he's at his girlfriend.
- 22:47SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 22:48SPEAKER_12: I said, How are you getting home?
- 22:49SPEAKER_12: Mom's still in caribou and I have the podcast.
- 22:52SPEAKER_12: And he says, I have a ride.
- 22:55SPEAKER_12: Which is great.
- 22:56SPEAKER_12: And then he just says, When can mom come?
- 23:02SPEAKER_12: I thought you had a ride.
- 23:09SPEAKER_12: Um and uh so also this l yeah, I picked him up from yesterday, and I'm getting off topic.
- 23:21SPEAKER_12: Um I picked him up yesterday uh from work and he put his uh he put his Weed Whacker, or whatever you call it.
- 23:34SPEAKER_12: They don't call it weed whacker anymore.
- 23:36SPEAKER_12: Um But he put it in the back of my car.
- 23:42SPEAKER_12: Like a trimmer.
- 23:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:45SPEAKER_12: Um he put it in the back of my car, and then we we get to the house and he says, I'm just gonna leave it in here.
- 23:52SPEAKER_12: Uh, because I'm gonna use it at uh Hannah's uh tomorrow.
- 23:55SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna do her lawn.
- 23:57SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 23:58SPEAKER_12: So he left it in my car.
- 24:00SPEAKER_12: I went to work, sat in my car all day.
- 24:04SPEAKER_12: I get in at lunchtime and my whole car reeks of gasoline.
- 24:09SPEAKER_12: Of course it does.
- 24:10SPEAKER_12: Right?
- 24:10SPEAKER_12: So I go park, I go I I go to my seventh period high school class, and after school I I I I go Oh, and he had asked, can uh can mom bring my work boots and my work pants and all this stuff and blah blah blah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_12: And so she's like, sure, yeah, I can do that.
- 24:28SPEAKER_12: So I get in my car after the school's out, and his work boots and stuff are in my car.
- 24:32SPEAKER_12: So she just brought them, put them in my car.
- 24:34SPEAKER_12: Still smells like gasoline.
- 24:36SPEAKER_12: And so I texted him, I said, So wait a second, don't you need these work boots and and and stuff in my car?
- 24:43SPEAKER_12: And he goes, Oh, okay.
- 24:46SPEAKER_12: And I said, that didn't answer my question.
- 24:50SPEAKER_12: So anyway, he and his girlfriend show up and he starts, he opens up and he's like, Why does it smell like gas?
- 24:57SPEAKER_12: Like, dude, this is because you left your thing in my car because you were gonna Oh yeah, I don't need that.
- 25:03SPEAKER_12: I'm just gonna use her hot her dad's.
- 25:05unknown: Oh my word.
- 25:06unknown: Oh my god.
- 25:09SPEAKER_12: 15 years old.
- 25:11SPEAKER_12: 15 years old.
- 25:12SPEAKER_10: None of us were smart back then.
- 25:13SPEAKER_12: No, no, no, no.
- 25:14SPEAKER_12: Um, so anyway, back to what I was saying.
- 25:16SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 25:20SPEAKER_12: Perfection.
- 25:20SPEAKER_12: Perfection.
- 25:21SPEAKER_12: So I remember putting this 45 single on my record player in 87-88.
- 25:29SPEAKER_12: When was it?
- 25:30SPEAKER_12: Um This was released in 86.
- 25:33SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 25:36SPEAKER_12: Um I remember putting it on my record player and playing it over and over and over again.
- 25:42SPEAKER_12: And airbanding to it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_12: Of course.
- 25:44SPEAKER_12: Playing air guitar and all this.
- 25:46SPEAKER_12: Because it's the the beginning guitar part is a hook in and of itself.
- 25:52SPEAKER_12: Um Don Barnes of 38 Special's voice is everyman.
- 25:59SPEAKER_12: It's it's not it's not a hairband screamer, it's not Michael McDonald, but it's a everyman voice.
- 26:07SPEAKER_12: A great voice.
- 26:08SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 26:09SPEAKER_12: It sounds like everyman.
- 26:10SPEAKER_12: I think I just broke in the microphone.
- 26:12SPEAKER_10: It's not a pretty cool.
- 26:13SPEAKER_12: Um and, you know, the song is called called Like No Other Night.
- 26:18SPEAKER_12: And it's off their Strength in Numbers album.
- 26:22SPEAKER_12: And as I'm listening to this on the way to work, I'm thinking, this is the perfect song.
- 26:28SPEAKER_12: It's just so well written.
- 26:31SPEAKER_12: Have you ever heard it?
- 26:33SPEAKER_12: Maybe, I don't know.
- 26:34SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 26:35SPEAKER_12: Um, let me just read you the lyrics.
- 26:38SPEAKER_12: And I'm not even talking about the lyrics.
- 26:39SPEAKER_12: The lyrics are secondary.
- 26:41SPEAKER_12: I just like the song, the orchestration of the song.
- 26:44SPEAKER_12: The guitar solo is orchestrated.
- 26:46SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's they worked it out.
- 26:48SPEAKER_12: The parts of the song, the way it's structured, um there's a bridge in there that comes after like one of the guitar solos, and it's perfect musically.
- 27:03SPEAKER_12: Um Let me just read the read you the words.
- 27:07SPEAKER_10: You're looking at me like Oh, I'm waiting for the song.
- 27:10SPEAKER_10: I mean, you're you're explaining it to death, and I just want to hear the song.
- 27:14SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna read you the lyrics first.
- 27:16SPEAKER_12: I was feeling like a prisoner inside myself.
- 27:19SPEAKER_12: I saw you looking like you might be in a mood to try anything that was new.
- 27:23SPEAKER_12: Don't be starved for the love and laughter.
- 27:25SPEAKER_12: Breakthrough, touch a stranger.
- 27:27SPEAKER_12: You only get one life.
- 27:28SPEAKER_12: Touch a stranger.
- 27:29SPEAKER_12: Touch a stranger.
- 27:29SPEAKER_12: You only get one life.
- 27:31SPEAKER_12: This night could be like no other night.
- 27:33SPEAKER_12: You and me.
- 27:34SPEAKER_12: Find the fire in our hearts and dance in the light.
- 27:37SPEAKER_12: We'll take our chances.
- 27:38SPEAKER_12: How can we lose?
- 27:39SPEAKER_12: We're making our own rules.
- 27:41SPEAKER_12: This night can be like no other night.
- 27:43SPEAKER_12: Nothing spectacular.
- 27:45SPEAKER_10: Pretty pretty pedestrian.
- 27:46SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 27:47SPEAKER_12: There's a child I can see in the back of your eyes, dying to be set free.
- 27:50SPEAKER_12: Let the hunger inside you bring it alive.
- 27:52SPEAKER_12: Now, baby, this night won't last forever.
- 27:54SPEAKER_12: Break loose.
- 27:55SPEAKER_12: Girl, remember, you only get one life.
- 27:57SPEAKER_12: And then it goes through the chorus again.
- 27:59SPEAKER_12: And the bridge is time you don't use, you lose it.
- 28:03SPEAKER_12: You grab every moment you can before it's gone.
- 28:06SPEAKER_12: When you can feel you really know that you're alive, show that you're alive for one night.
- 28:11SPEAKER_12: And then it goes through the chorus again.
- 28:13SPEAKER_12: Okay, so it's again, lyrically not fantastic, but I mean it's still good.
- 28:18SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 28:19SPEAKER_12: But just listen to it all together.
- 28:22SPEAKER_12: Okay, here we go.
- 28:28SPEAKER_12: Sorry, that's a hook.
- 28:29SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 28:30SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean it sounds like a typical like 38 special.
- 28:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 28:33SPEAKER_12: But but just like uh the beginning of Ain't Talkin' about love.
- 28:37SPEAKER_12: That's a hook.
- 28:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 28:38SPEAKER_12: Okay?
- 28:38SPEAKER_12: This is a hook.
- 28:39SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 29:47SPEAKER_12: So we had this conversation, um, I don't know if it was last podcast, but the podcast before, how music from the 70s and 80s, while maybe production value-wise, left a lot to be desired, but complexity.
- 30:03SPEAKER_12: It was a lot more complex.
- 30:04SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_12: There weren't just three chords.
- 30:06SPEAKER_10: Well, that's because they were actually musicians on the card.
- 30:09SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean, sure.
- 30:11SPEAKER_12: But but I mean there were more than three chords.
- 30:14SPEAKER_12: And this is a perfect example.
- 30:15SPEAKER_12: There were four.
- 30:17SPEAKER_12: This is a perfect example.
- 30:18SPEAKER_12: Now they're like the the main parts of this song might be a couple chords, but the way it's put together is interesting.
- 30:25SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 30:25SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's it's not necessarily complex, that's not the right word, but it's it's interesting.
- 30:30SPEAKER_12: It goes somewhere.
- 30:32SPEAKER_12: And then it comes back and then it goes somewhere else.
- 30:34SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 30:35SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 30:44SPEAKER_12: So this is the same structure as the first word.
- 32:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah, pop rock music.
- 32:14SPEAKER_13: I mean, that's that's great songwriting.
- 32:17SPEAKER_10: Well, it's better anything you're gonna hear nowadays.
- 32:20SPEAKER_10: I agree though.
- 32:22SPEAKER_10: It reminds me of a Metallica song.
- 32:25SPEAKER_10: Because James Hetfield's famous for that.
- 32:27SPEAKER_10: Putting like four or five different hooks into a one song.
- 32:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:30SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 32:32SPEAKER_12: Oh, then here comes a guitar that plays it out.
- 32:37SPEAKER_13: And you know all of these guitar parts are orchestrated.
- 32:40SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 32:41SPEAKER_13: You know, and he's he's not winging it.
- 32:43SPEAKER_13: I mean, maybe in the beginning he was, but this is all mapped out.
- 32:47SPEAKER_13: Oh sure.
- 32:58SPEAKER_12: I mean, I just you know, I love that song.
- 33:01SPEAKER_12: And and maybe it's nostalgia too.
- 33:03SPEAKER_12: I mean, I remember loving it when I was in middle school, but but I heard it this morning and I'm like, this is there's Washington again?
- 33:09SPEAKER_12: Like No Other Night No Other Night by 38 Special.
- 33:12SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 33:13SPEAKER_10: Um I have I have heard of it before.
- 33:16SPEAKER_10: I just didn't realize it was 38 Special.
- 33:18SPEAKER_12: So, and that's Don Barnes.
- 33:20SPEAKER_12: Don Barnes was the original lead singer of 38 Special.
- 33:22SPEAKER_12: He left for a while.
- 33:24SPEAKER_12: I mean, if we're getting into the weeds here, and a guy named Max Carl, who's also a great vocalist, came in and uh they had a couple albums with Max Carl on lead vocals.
- 33:34SPEAKER_12: Uh some successful albums, but uh then Don Barnes came back and he's been with him uh uh ever since.
- 33:40SPEAKER_12: So uh, you know, but like I said, the same thing about his voice.
- 33:44SPEAKER_12: He's an everyman voice.
- 33:46SPEAKER_10: Like anybody goes to sign that.
- 33:47SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 33:47SPEAKER_12: It's a good he's got a great solid voice, solid rock voice, and um you know, which is I don't know.
- 33:55SPEAKER_12: Um so uh speaking of complexity, the there was a song that Rick Beatto, we love Rick Biotto, he talked about on his um show, his YouTube channel, uh one time that what he called the most complex pop song ever.
- 34:16SPEAKER_12: It was from the early 80s.
- 34:18SPEAKER_12: And uh there are I'm not gonna get into what he said, but I just want to play it for you because you'll understand why it's so complex.
- 34:29SPEAKER_12: Now I don't think um I don't think that today's pop music needs to be like this, but I'd like it to be a lot a little more interesting.
- 34:41SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 34:41SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 34:42SPEAKER_12: So you know this, and I know you know this song because I think you I mean we were talking about yacht rock earlier.
- 34:48SPEAKER_12: By the way, Daryl Hall does not like the term yacht rock.
- 34:52SPEAKER_10: Well, Daryl Hall doesn't like a lot of things, including out.
- 34:56SPEAKER_10: This is true.
- 34:57SPEAKER_12: Take that with a grain of salt.
- 34:59SPEAKER_12: This is true.
- 35:00SPEAKER_12: Um okay, so if I remember, I don't know how many key changes there are in this song.
- 35:07SPEAKER_12: But like ten, maybe key changes in this song.
- 35:14SPEAKER_12: Um and you don't notice them because it's it's such a well-crafted song.
- 35:20SPEAKER_12: Um you don't notice the key changes.
- 35:23SPEAKER_12: You don't notice how complex this is unless you're trying to learn it so you can play it.
- 35:27SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 35:28SPEAKER_18: Um but this is I was as strong as I could be to let's win.
- 35:36SPEAKER_12: So this is Sergio Mendez, and never gonna let you go.
- 35:41SPEAKER_12: So here we are in one key.
- 35:47SPEAKER_18: But now that I've come to see the light, all I wanna do is make things right.
- 35:55SPEAKER_18: So just say the word and tell me that I'm forgiven.
- 36:00SPEAKER_18: Let's do another one.
- 36:07SPEAKER_12: Listen to all the chords in there.
- 36:09SPEAKER_12: There's another key check.
- 36:18SPEAKER_12: Let's do another one.
- 36:54SPEAKER_10: Stephen changes his voice.
- 37:02SPEAKER_18: And I took it look right.
- 37:04SPEAKER_10: Actually, I don't know who that is.
- 37:07SPEAKER_18: But if there's some feeling left in you!
- 37:12SPEAKER_12: So I'm just I I wanna pull a song from today's top 100.
- 37:16SPEAKER_12: Billboard Hot 100, and just uh, let's see.
- 37:21unknown: Wait and see, it's gonna be.
- 37:23SPEAKER_12: Why are these all Christmas?
- 37:26SPEAKER_12: You want the Christmas list?
- 37:28SPEAKER_12: No.
- 37:30SPEAKER_12: It's it's a Billboard Top 100 from 2025 and the first 20, 21, 22, 23.
- 37:41SPEAKER_12: First 23 songs are Christmas songs.
- 37:45SPEAKER_10: Fucking Billboard, man.
- 37:48SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 37:49SPEAKER_12: So you hear this song and how complex it is.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: I heard your soul.
- 37:58SPEAKER_12: And they just I'm just I I don't even know that I know this song, but uh we're we're just gonna play a song that uh is popular now.
- 38:11SPEAKER_13: So that's three chords.
- 38:18SPEAKER_16: Two She's been telling me all night long.
- 38:21SPEAKER_16: Maybe four Let's go, song and long.
- 38:27SPEAKER_12: This is Shaboozie.
- 38:29SPEAKER_12: No idea who that is.
- 38:30SPEAKER_16: A bar song is like so my 11-year-old likes this time.
- 38:36SPEAKER_16: I can't take them when I come.
- 38:40SPEAKER_16: One kick up two to the three four.
- 38:43SPEAKER_16: Tell them bring another out.
- 38:45SPEAKER_16: We need plenty more.
- 38:50SPEAKER_16: Oh my goodness.
- 38:55SPEAKER_16: They don't need double gotta get.
- 38:57SPEAKER_12: I'm not taking anything away from this song, but it's the same chords over and over and over again.
- 39:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 39:01SPEAKER_10: Everybody at the bark I mean the beat, the beat doesn't change.
- 39:04SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 39:05SPEAKER_12: They add elements.
- 39:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 39:07SPEAKER_16: Everybody has barking tips.
- 39:13SPEAKER_16: Everybody has barking tips.
- 39:15SPEAKER_16: Robin boozy.
- 39:17SPEAKER_12: Okay, so that's the same three or four chords over and over again.
- 39:19SPEAKER_12: Let me just bit let me just get another one.
- 39:22SPEAKER_12: Uh I don't know any of these songs, to be honest.
- 39:28SPEAKER_12: Uh what was it, what was that called?
- 39:31SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 39:32SPEAKER_09: I don't know what you were looking at, sir.
- 39:36SPEAKER_12: Is that the one I'm looking for?
- 39:37SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 39:38SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, that's so true.
- 39:39SPEAKER_12: Let's do this.
- 39:40SPEAKER_12: So I've never heard this song either.
- 39:42SPEAKER_12: This is a woman by the name of Gracie Abrams.
- 39:45SPEAKER_12: Uh that's so true.
- 39:47SPEAKER_12: Let's see what this one sounds like.
- 39:50SPEAKER_12: So this is this is on the Billboard Top 100, hot 100.
- 39:54SPEAKER_12: Uh, it is number 33, but declining or going down.
- 39:58unknown: So let's see.
- 39:59SPEAKER_15: I could go and read your mind.
- 40:01SPEAKER_15: Think about your dumb face all the time.
- 40:03SPEAKER_15: I'm living in your glasshouse, I'm outside.
- 40:07SPEAKER_15: Uh looking in the big blue eyes.
- 40:10SPEAKER_15: Did it just hurt me and make me cry?
- 40:12SPEAKER_15: Smiling through it all, yeah, that's my life.
- 40:15SPEAKER_15: You're now dead.
- 40:22SPEAKER_15: I chorus.
- 40:33SPEAKER_12: Different melody for the chorus.
- 40:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 40:47SPEAKER_15: Oh my god, take it up to share that one.
- 40:55SPEAKER_10: Sorry, boy, it's your children.
- 41:00SPEAKER_15: Sorry, she's missing boy.
- 41:04SPEAKER_15: Not my business, but I have to warn you.
- 41:12SPEAKER_12: But you see what I mean?
- 41:13SPEAKER_10: Um yeah, it's not very inventive.
- 41:15SPEAKER_10: It's just boring.
- 41:16SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it's very boring.
- 41:17SPEAKER_10: It's boring.
- 41:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 41:18SPEAKER_10: I mean, I can I can understand it because it's it's ear candy-ish.
- 41:22SPEAKER_10: Sure, absolutely.
- 41:23SPEAKER_10: You know, it's definitely that.
- 41:24SPEAKER_10: But I mean, it's not, it's not well, I mean, my limited guitar skills, I could probably handle this.
- 41:30SPEAKER_12: So listen, if we're getting into if we're really gonna bash this type of thing, um, then uh we gotta we gotta bring this up because um this is the same thing over and over again.
- 41:46SPEAKER_12: Technically.
- 41:47SPEAKER_10: It is, yeah, absolutely.
- 41:48SPEAKER_12: It's the same chords over and over again.
- 41:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah, but at least they have musical talent.
- 41:51SPEAKER_12: Well, no, you can't really say that because somebody somebody who made that other song has musical talent.
- 41:59SPEAKER_10: Do do we know though?
- 42:00SPEAKER_10: Just a small talent.
- 42:01SPEAKER_12: Well, this is true.
- 42:02SPEAKER_10: How do we know it's not AI?
- 42:03SPEAKER_10: How do we know it's not a friggin' uh garage band?
- 42:06SPEAKER_12: That's true.
- 42:07SPEAKER_12: And you know We don't know.
- 42:08SPEAKER_12: We don't know anymore.
- 42:09SPEAKER_12: I've been seeing ads on Instagram for um you write a song with AI and record it with AI.
- 42:19SPEAKER_12: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:20SPEAKER_12: You don't even need musicians.
- 42:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 42:22SPEAKER_12: You know, and and it it turns out to be a pretty decent song.
- 42:25SPEAKER_10: And that's the thing, we don't know anymore.
- 42:27SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 42:27SPEAKER_10: We have no idea.
- 42:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 42:29SPEAKER_12: So I don't know.
- 42:31SPEAKER_12: I don't even know.
- 42:33SPEAKER_12: We're what do we call ourselves the Stellar and Waldorf?
- 42:38SPEAKER_12: It's so true.
- 42:40SPEAKER_12: It's so true.
- 42:41SPEAKER_12: Alright, so let's go back to uh 15 rock bands.
- 42:46SPEAKER_12: This is ultimate classicrock.com.
- 42:48SPEAKER_12: Fifteen rock bands that don't deserve all the hate they get.
- 42:52SPEAKER_12: We'll see about that ultimate classic rock.
- 42:55SPEAKER_12: We'll be the judge of that.
- 42:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 42:57SPEAKER_12: Uh so kiss.
- 43:01SPEAKER_12: Do people hate kiss?
- 43:03SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 43:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah, there's a lot of kiss haters out there.
- 43:05SPEAKER_10: Uh but yeah, I mean, the music is not especially good.
- 43:11SPEAKER_10: Ear candy.
- 43:12SPEAKER_10: It depends.
- 43:13SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I mean, ear candy.
- 43:14SPEAKER_10: I mean, it's pretty basic.
- 43:15SPEAKER_10: It's basic rock and roll.
- 43:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_10: But they put on a great show.
- 43:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_10: That's that's that's their stain.
- 43:22SPEAKER_10: You want you wanted the best, you got the best.
- 43:24SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 43:25SPEAKER_12: So keep it simple, stupid.
- 43:28SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 43:29SPEAKER_12: Um that it is.
- 43:31SPEAKER_12: It's straight up rock and roll, and they do put on a good show.
- 43:34SPEAKER_12: Put on a good show, man.
- 43:35SPEAKER_12: So what is what are they saying?
- 43:36SPEAKER_12: So you think the face paint is silly, the outfits are cheesy, and the oversized per oversized personas are irritating.
- 43:42SPEAKER_12: You still can't discount Kiss's irreplaceable impact on rock history.
- 43:45SPEAKER_12: That's what I would say.
- 43:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:47SPEAKER_12: You know, they were they were shocked.
- 43:50SPEAKER_10: Um I mean, nobody else at that time when they came out was doing the makeup thing.
- 43:56SPEAKER_12: Alice Cooper.
- 43:57SPEAKER_10: Well, yeah, yeah, that was a different thing.
- 43:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that was a whole Other things.
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:01SPEAKER_10: You know, but I mean, nobody was doing that.
- 44:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 44:03SPEAKER_10: You know, this was like, whoa.
- 44:05SPEAKER_10: I mean, that I mean, if you want to get attention drawn to yourself, that's the way to do it.
- 44:09SPEAKER_12: Entertainment value alone.
- 44:10SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 44:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:11SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 44:11SPEAKER_12: I would agree with that.
- 44:12SPEAKER_12: Kiss gets a bad rap for for uh people should Eagles.
- 44:17SPEAKER_12: Who hates the Eagles?
- 44:18SPEAKER_10: I don't understand how you can hate the Eagles.
- 44:20SPEAKER_12: I really don't.
- 44:21SPEAKER_12: Let me read let me read what they say.
- 44:22SPEAKER_12: We blame this one at least partially on the big Lebowski.
- 44:25SPEAKER_12: After all, seeing Jeff Bridge's famous character yell, I hate the effing Eagles, man, certainly carries influence.
- 44:31SPEAKER_12: But unnecessary hate for the group goes back long before the Cohen Brothers film.
- 44:35SPEAKER_12: The Eagles' emergence in the early 70s coincided with the changing of the guard, as the sixties peace and love folk rock gave way to a more polished sound.
- 44:44SPEAKER_12: Eagles were seen as capitalizing on sixties folk rock popular.
- 44:47SPEAKER_12: I think you're reading too much into this.
- 44:48SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, I I I don't know that I don't know anybody that hates the Eagles.
- 44:52SPEAKER_10: I don't really know either.
- 44:54SPEAKER_10: I mean Don Henley's annoying.
- 44:55SPEAKER_12: It's but that's a whole other thing.
- 44:56SPEAKER_12: Maybe the Eagles is not their particular thing, but they don't you can't deny that they make great music.
- 45:02SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 45:02SPEAKER_12: So and a band would just play Journey.
- 45:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 45:06SPEAKER_12: People used to call them corporate rock.
- 45:08SPEAKER_12: This you know, this phrase corporate rock.
- 45:10SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 45:11SPEAKER_12: Uh that just means they're selling out stadiums.
- 45:13SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 45:14SPEAKER_10: Uh that's what uh James Hetfield.
- 45:16SPEAKER_10: Oh no, it was uh Jason Newstead.
- 45:17SPEAKER_10: Jason Newstead, yeah.
- 45:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that we're we're selling out, we're selling out stadiums or you know.
- 45:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 45:22SPEAKER_12: So uh says there are a few bands in the world who wouldn't trade their career for journeys.
- 45:26SPEAKER_12: The list of accolades seems endless with multiple multi-platinum records, induction into the Rock Hall of Fame, and an incredible array of timeless tracks.
- 45:33SPEAKER_12: And yet hate hangs over this band.
- 45:36SPEAKER_12: Why?
- 45:36SPEAKER_12: For some of it comes down to the internal drama.
- 45:39SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 45:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah, there's a lot of internal drama.
- 45:42SPEAKER_12: I don't think it's hate.
- 45:42SPEAKER_10: We don't I don't think it is, but whatever.
- 45:46SPEAKER_12: Coldplay.
- 45:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I hate cold play.
- 45:48SPEAKER_12: I don't like cold play.
- 45:50SPEAKER_12: Really don't.
- 45:51SPEAKER_12: I'm not saying they're not talented.
- 45:53SPEAKER_10: No, no.
- 45:54SPEAKER_10: I mean they make some pretty cool music, but I mean it all sounds the same after a while to me.
- 45:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 45:58SPEAKER_12: So I and that's just a taste thing.
- 46:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:00SPEAKER_12: It's not that I hate them.
- 46:01SPEAKER_10: No, I mean I have nothing personal against them.
- 46:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 46:04SPEAKER_10: I mean, they're no nickelback.
- 46:05SPEAKER_10: So I mean, no, I mean Do you think nickelback's on this list?
- 46:07SPEAKER_12: I hope so.
- 46:08SPEAKER_10: I'm surprised they're not on it already.
- 46:10SPEAKER_10: Guns N' Roses.
- 46:13SPEAKER_10: I I mean I could I could probably see people not liking them just because of Axel.
- 46:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:19SPEAKER_10: Especially back in the day because he was quite the ego maniac.
- 46:23SPEAKER_12: He was.
- 46:23SPEAKER_12: You know, but just a jerk.
- 46:26SPEAKER_10: He really was.
- 46:27SPEAKER_10: You know, but I mean you can't deny Appetite for Destruction was an amazing album.
- 46:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:34unknown: Yep.
- 46:34SPEAKER_10: Amazing.
- 46:34SPEAKER_10: One of the best rock albums.
- 46:36SPEAKER_12: Use your illusion one and two.
- 46:38SPEAKER_12: That was those were actually pretty good.
- 46:39SPEAKER_12: Those were good.
- 46:40SPEAKER_12: And there were some big moments on November Rain.
- 46:43SPEAKER_12: Don't cry.
- 46:44SPEAKER_12: You know, those uh not the whole the whole album wasn't great for both of them.
- 46:48SPEAKER_10: No.
- 46:49SPEAKER_12: Uh but I mean overall.
- 46:50SPEAKER_12: Had some amazing moments.
- 46:51SPEAKER_10: It would have been a good like one album.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 46:55SPEAKER_12: You know, you think about that though.
- 46:57SPEAKER_12: As far as produced album, because you had GNR Lies.
- 47:02SPEAKER_12: Which was pretty great in itself.
- 47:03SPEAKER_12: But and you had you had like the Spaghetti Incident, which is like an EP or whatever, uh throwaway.
- 47:09SPEAKER_12: They've only really had three albums.
- 47:12SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they really haven't had that.
- 47:14SPEAKER_10: Their body of work is really not that much.
- 47:17SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 47:17SPEAKER_10: I mean, they've made a huge impact.
- 47:20SPEAKER_12: Chinese democracy.
- 47:21SPEAKER_12: Can you even include that?
- 47:22SPEAKER_12: I wouldn't even include it.
- 47:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:23SPEAKER_12: It's like it's like Van Halen 3.
- 47:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah, absolutely.
- 47:26SPEAKER_12: Wouldn't even include it.
- 47:26SPEAKER_12: No.
- 47:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:27SPEAKER_10: Absolutely not, man.
- 47:28SPEAKER_12: Um Pearl Jam.
- 47:32SPEAKER_10: I don't I don't know anybody that hates Pearl Jam.
- 47:35SPEAKER_10: I mean, I I know I'm no big fan of Eddie Vedder just because you know, you know, I I mean, I I I mean I love the first album.
- 47:43SPEAKER_10: The first album, too.
- 47:44SPEAKER_10: I I 10 is an amazing album.
- 47:46SPEAKER_10: It is.
- 47:46SPEAKER_12: It is one of the best rock albums ever.
- 47:49SPEAKER_12: Eddie Vedder didn't like it because he didn't like the way it came out.
- 47:51SPEAKER_12: It was too polished.
- 47:52SPEAKER_10: Suck it, Eddie.
- 47:53SPEAKER_10: I don't care, man.
- 47:54SPEAKER_10: But I like it, man.
- 47:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 47:56SPEAKER_10: But I I kind of lost interest in him after that because everything just started sounding the same.
- 48:01SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 48:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 48:01SPEAKER_10: But nothing again, but that first album is just like Yeah.
- 48:04SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 48:05SPEAKER_12: But I wouldn't consider that hate.
- 48:07SPEAKER_10: No.
- 48:08SPEAKER_10: Sticks.
- 48:10SPEAKER_10: Uh I I I don't know anybody, I don't personally know anybody that doesn't like sticks.
- 48:16SPEAKER_10: I get it because Dennis DeYoung is kind of an egotist.
- 48:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 48:21SPEAKER_10: You know, he you know, he kind of took him in this like showy, made everything like way over the top production.
- 48:28SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 48:28SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 48:29SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 48:29SPEAKER_12: You know, but the music is great.
- 48:31SPEAKER_12: It's funny, it's what you s funny what you said.
- 48:32SPEAKER_12: You said I don't know anybody that doesn't like sticks.
- 48:35SPEAKER_12: I also don't know anybody that's a huge fan of sticks.
- 48:38SPEAKER_10: That is true.
- 48:39SPEAKER_10: I yeah, you don't know anybody that's like a you know, like I am with like Rush.
- 48:43SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 48:43SPEAKER_10: I don't know anybody like that like sticks.
- 48:46SPEAKER_12: I I you know, yeah, they're great.
- 48:48SPEAKER_12: Um but I would I would pick like ten bands at least before I picked up.
- 48:54SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they're definitely in the middle of the pack.
- 48:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 48:56SPEAKER_12: You know, somewhere.
- 48:57SPEAKER_12: Um let's see, Styx is one of the greatest American rock bands, and they only get uh got a bad rap because most critics are cynical a-holes.
- 49:04SPEAKER_12: That quote comes from the Adam Sandler film Big Daddy.
- 49:08SPEAKER_12: Uh yet it's surprisingly accurate.
- 49:10SPEAKER_12: Uh Styx forged a devoted fan base by combining the world of hard and progressive rock.
- 49:15SPEAKER_12: Despite never being critical, darlings, they racked up hits.
- 49:20SPEAKER_12: Killroy was here was certainly polarizing, but considering the massive commercial success of both of those releases, it's hard to pinpoint that time uh as the source of continued hate.
- 49:31SPEAKER_12: Creed.
- 49:33SPEAKER_12: I never liked Creed.
- 49:34SPEAKER_10: I I never did either.
- 49:36SPEAKER_12: I don't dislike Creed, but Yeah, I kind of nothing Creed.
- 49:39SPEAKER_12: See, that's the thing.
- 49:39SPEAKER_12: When you say hate, just because I don't really care for their music doesn't mean I hate 'em.
- 49:44SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 49:45SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 49:46SPEAKER_12: Um and they're obviously there's a resurgence, and there's a lot of people that love them.
- 49:50SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 49:51SPEAKER_10: Yeah, well, I mean, you know, I mean they were pretty great.
- 49:54SPEAKER_12: Although I used to make fun of uh Scott Stapp's vocal style.
- 49:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, he kinda he kind of overdid it a little bit, but you know, whatever.
- 50:02SPEAKER_12: Here you go.
- 50:03SPEAKER_10: There's my boys right there.
- 50:06SPEAKER_12: Curious as to what they say about Nickelback.
- 50:08SPEAKER_12: Arriving right behind Creed was Nickelback, Canada's answer to the post-grunge phenom.
- 50:13SPEAKER_12: With a pension for catchy hooks, Nickelback suddenly emerged as one of the late 90s most bankable acts.
- 50:19SPEAKER_12: Despite overwhelming commercial success, including the massive hits, How You Remind Me.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: Look at that photograph!
- 50:26SPEAKER_12: Uh, a negative sheen soon developed around Nickelback.
- 50:28SPEAKER_12: The band was seen as lame or lacking edge.
- 50:32SPEAKER_12: As the 2000s rolled on and new more artistic acts arose in the NDC, Nickelback became an easy punching bag for the post-grunge era, which many people had already left behind.
- 50:41SPEAKER_12: Case in point, the Black Keys Patrick Caney once claimed that rock and roll was dying because people became okay with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world.
- 50:49SPEAKER_12: So they became okay with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be crap.
- 50:54SPEAKER_12: He didn't say crap, he said the S words.
- 50:57SPEAKER_12: Uh despite such takedowns, Nickelback has enjoyed a revival in recent years as audiences recognize they were never deserving of the wave of hate they received.
- 51:05SPEAKER_12: Now, we've already we've talked to this about this ad nauseum.
- 51:08SPEAKER_12: I saw uh, you know, I I wasn't a fan of Nickelback.
- 51:11SPEAKER_12: I shouldn't say I wasn't a fan of Nick.
- 51:13SPEAKER_12: Some of the songs that they released were catchy.
- 51:15SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 51:15SPEAKER_09: Uh I'm not denying that.
- 51:17SPEAKER_12: And and I but I wasn't a fan because and I think it's I think it's trend, it's a trend.
- 51:24SPEAKER_12: Um when a band becomes a trend and become becomes viral and just blows up.
- 51:29SPEAKER_12: Taylor Swift is a perfect example.
- 51:31SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 51:32SPEAKER_12: You know, I just lose interest.
- 51:33SPEAKER_12: When everybody is consuming them, I lose interest.
- 51:36SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'm just like, eh.
- 51:38SPEAKER_10: No.
- 51:38SPEAKER_10: I think I have a feeling that if I had been alive in the heyday of the Beatles, I probably wouldn't let the Beatles.
- 51:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, for sure.
- 51:48SPEAKER_12: So um, but I saw Nickelback uh like uh in concert, not live in concert, but on like a DVD of them playing the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
- 51:56SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 51:56SPEAKER_12: Tight band, rocking band.
- 51:58SPEAKER_12: You all you admit you like that dime bag song.
- 52:00SPEAKER_10: Oh, I love I love Side of a Bullet.
- 52:02SPEAKER_10: Side of a bullet.
- 52:03SPEAKER_10: It's one of my favorite songs, and it's by them.
- 52:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 52:05SPEAKER_10: But you know, I still it doesn't mean I'm out, you know, right wearing a Nickelback t-shirt.
- 52:10SPEAKER_12: It's funny, uh, John Simonoff, uh I rehearsed a little bit with John Simonoff yesterday in pr at the high school because he's gonna be playing bass on a couple songs in my chorus concert in a couple weeks.
- 52:22SPEAKER_12: Uh next week.
- 52:24SPEAKER_12: And um he uh turned it turn off on its own, I must have.
- 52:32SPEAKER_12: Um he needed to borrow a distortion pedal.
- 52:36SPEAKER_12: I'm like, what are you needing a distortion pedal for?
- 52:38SPEAKER_12: And he said my modern band is playing in my con in a concert that he's doing, and uh they're doing a nickelback.
- 52:47SPEAKER_12: So I let him use my nobles, uh, which was my favorite pedal.
- 52:52SPEAKER_10: And uh speaking of John, did you know he's playing bass and marionette for the summer?
- 52:57SPEAKER_12: No.
- 52:58SPEAKER_10: I just found that out last night.
- 53:00SPEAKER_10: Where's where's James?
- 53:02SPEAKER_10: Apparently he quit.
- 53:03SPEAKER_12: Well, I know Steve was wanting to get done.
- 53:06SPEAKER_12: The guitar player.
- 53:09SPEAKER_10: Apparently, apparently it was Matilla.
- 53:11SPEAKER_12: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 53:12SPEAKER_12: I didn't know that either.
- 53:12SPEAKER_10: I was I was like, what?
- 53:14SPEAKER_12: Interesting.
- 53:15SPEAKER_10: Somebody said that uh John's gonna be really busy, and I'm like, oh yeah, but then really they were like, yeah, he's gonna be playing bass and marionette.
- 53:22SPEAKER_10: I'm like, what?
- 53:23SPEAKER_12: How many bands is he in there?
- 53:25SPEAKER_12: What?
- 53:26SPEAKER_12: Syndicate?
- 53:27SPEAKER_12: Syndicate.
- 53:28SPEAKER_12: Uh uh, Haystack Union, Marionette.
- 53:33SPEAKER_12: He plays with uh Too Far North every once in a while.
- 53:35SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so that's five.
- 53:36SPEAKER_10: And the and his jazz thing, so it looks six bands.
- 53:38SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 53:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's gonna be busy.
- 53:41SPEAKER_12: That's okay.
- 53:41SPEAKER_12: He can do it.
- 53:42SPEAKER_12: It's good for him.
- 53:43SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see, Motley Crue.
- 53:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't like Motley Crue.
- 53:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I mean, I like a lot of Motley Crue stuff, but I'm not like a huge fan of them.
- 53:51SPEAKER_12: I d yeah, and and I do they get hate?
- 53:54SPEAKER_12: I don't know that they get home.
- 53:55SPEAKER_10: I don't think they get hate, but I think people are just like, eh.
- 53:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:57SPEAKER_12: Well that's me.
- 53:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'm just kind of Green Day.
- 54:02SPEAKER_10: I wouldn't say I hate Green Day, but I mean they lost their they lost their touch for me.
- 54:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 54:09SPEAKER_10: I mean, because I love the Dookie album.
- 54:11SPEAKER_12: I think I think it's it all um it's all to me, it's when Billy Joy w when you start getting political on stage, I lose interest.
- 54:23SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'm just I I don't care what you think.
- 54:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 54:25SPEAKER_12: Just just play the songs.
- 54:26SPEAKER_12: I don't even care what side you're on.
- 54:27SPEAKER_12: It's just uh I'm here to hear the songs.
- 54:30SPEAKER_12: Not that you can't have an opinion about anything.
- 54:32SPEAKER_10: Yeah, nobody's saying that, but just you know, play the songs, man.
- 54:35SPEAKER_12: Genesis.
- 54:36SPEAKER_12: Now Genesis, uh, they got hate when it was just the three of them.
- 54:41SPEAKER_12: When they we turned really pop.
- 54:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 54:43SPEAKER_12: Um I thought it was I thought it was pretty great.
- 54:46SPEAKER_12: They were, you know, they were cash and checks.
- 54:50SPEAKER_12: U2.
- 54:51SPEAKER_10: Hey, cousin Bono.
- 54:53SPEAKER_12: Uh what do you think about you two?
- 54:55SPEAKER_10: I mean, I can see I think they just got I think Bono just got just full of himself.
- 55:01SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that whole it's not the band, it's him.
- 55:04SPEAKER_12: The the whole um He just got self-righteous.
- 55:06SPEAKER_12: Was it pop?
- 55:07SPEAKER_12: The pop era?
- 55:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:09SPEAKER_12: Where he had the like the flying glasses.
- 55:12SPEAKER_12: I understand he has an eye thing.
- 55:13SPEAKER_12: You know, he has to wear sunglasses, I get that.
- 55:16SPEAKER_12: But that was just that was just weird.
- 55:18SPEAKER_12: The pop art or pop mart or whatever it was.
- 55:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:22SPEAKER_12: The whole U2 thing.
- 55:23SPEAKER_12: I I like some of their music.
- 55:24SPEAKER_10: Uh I like a lot of their early stuff.
- 55:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 55:26SPEAKER_12: Joshua Tree.
- 55:27SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 55:28SPEAKER_10: Great stuff.
- 55:28SPEAKER_10: Actually, the iTunes Baby.
- 55:30SPEAKER_12: The album.
- 55:31SPEAKER_12: The album that they had um that was like a quote unquote comeback.
- 55:35SPEAKER_10: Um they gave out everybody for free in iTunes?
- 55:40SPEAKER_12: Nope, nope.
- 55:40SPEAKER_12: No, it was the one with Beautiful Day on it.
- 55:42SPEAKER_12: Oh, that one, yeah.
- 55:43SPEAKER_12: That's a good album.
- 55:44SPEAKER_12: That was a good album.
- 55:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I like that album.
- 55:46SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see.
- 55:47SPEAKER_12: Dave Matthews Band.
- 55:49SPEAKER_10: I don't know anybody that doesn't like Dave Matthews.
- 55:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they may not be their thing.
- 55:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 55:53SPEAKER_12: But they but they're pretty great.
- 55:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:55SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 55:56SPEAKER_12: Although, I will say, Dave Matthews Band is a lot like uh Nickelback in a way, because all of their stuff sounds like Dave Matthews.
- 56:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it just isn't.
- 56:07SPEAKER_12: But I mean, you I mean, if you like that.
- 56:09SPEAKER_10: But if if you gotta st if you if it's working, you know, if it's broke, it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- 56:13SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 56:14SPEAKER_10: I mean, he's he's selling out, you know, his tours and albums.
- 56:17SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 56:17SPEAKER_10: Hey man, more power to ya.
- 56:20SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see.
- 56:22SPEAKER_12: Limp Biscuit.
- 56:23SPEAKER_10: Now I could I can kind of see that because of Fred Durst.
- 56:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 56:28SPEAKER_10: Because he's kind of a douche.
- 56:29SPEAKER_12: A little bit.
- 56:30SPEAKER_10: But I mean, you can't deny because I love breaking stu break stuff.
- 56:34unknown: Yeah.
- 56:36SPEAKER_10: I love that song.
- 56:37SPEAKER_10: You know, I ain't gonna lie.
- 56:38SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 56:39SPEAKER_10: But uh, you know.
- 56:40SPEAKER_10: But I I I I don't think it's the band, I think it's just him, you know.
- 56:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I think there's a lot of truth to that, actually.
- 56:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 56:48SPEAKER_12: So, and that's all they had on their list uh ultimate classic rock.
- 56:52SPEAKER_12: Uh 15 bands everyone loves to hate.
- 56:56SPEAKER_10: Um that's just not everybody not everything is gonna be everybody's cup of tea.
- 57:03SPEAKER_08: That's just the way it goes, man.
- 57:06SPEAKER_12: So interesting.
- 57:09SPEAKER_12: We'll talk about that at the breakup.
- 57:11SPEAKER_12: Um okay, let's do uh let me do this.
- 57:16SPEAKER_12: Because that was a good good convo, dude.
- 57:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah, man.
- 57:19SPEAKER_12: Good convo.

- 57:24SPEAKER_10: We talk good.
- 57:26SPEAKER_12: What uh what uh what was the Eli said one time and we haven't let him live it down.
- 57:32SPEAKER_12: Uh he said he said we were at the dinner table and I can't remember what what we were talking about, but he says, I have good reading.
- 57:42SPEAKER_12: You have good reading, huh?
- 57:44SPEAKER_12: I have good reading.
- 57:45SPEAKER_10: Thank you.
- 57:47SPEAKER_10: We talk good.
- 57:48SPEAKER_10: We talk good.
- 57:49SPEAKER_10: I have good reading.
- 57:50SPEAKER_10: That's the name of the episode.
- 57:51SPEAKER_10: We talk good.
- 57:56SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 57:58SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 58:10SPEAKER_10: I'm very happy with the change of our uh theme music for the change it again eventually.
- 58:27SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 58:28SPEAKER_08: So here we go.
- 58:30SPEAKER_08: Past.
- 58:40SPEAKER_10: See, this is a perfect example.
- 58:41SPEAKER_12: I just gotta can't believe I'm beyond me.
- 58:44SPEAKER_12: Got a a text from my wife because she's gotta go pick up Finn eventually.
- 58:48SPEAKER_12: And the text is we're still waiting for the track meet to end.
- 58:52SPEAKER_12: It's 8 20 at night.
- 58:54SPEAKER_09: That is crazy.
- 58:55SPEAKER_10: Uh, what is going on with my why is my Snapchat all blacked out?
- 59:04SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 59:06SPEAKER_12: I don't have Snapchat anymore.
- 59:07SPEAKER_12: I deleted it off my phone.
- 59:10SPEAKER_10: Well it's like all the text is like I can't read it.
- 59:17SPEAKER_10: It's like gone.
- 59:18SPEAKER_10: Look.
- 59:22SPEAKER_12: Interesting.
- 59:24SPEAKER_10: I can't I can't read anything.
- 59:26SPEAKER_12: What if you turn your phone off and turn it back on?
- 59:28SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 59:29SPEAKER_12: Or close out the app or close it out.
- 59:31SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 59:35SPEAKER_09: Because we can't do mixtape if you can't read the No, it's still blacked out for someone.
- 59:40SPEAKER_09: Did you turn your phone off?
- 59:41SPEAKER_09: No.
- 59:42SPEAKER_05: Try turning your phone off.
- 59:43SPEAKER_12: Like all the way off.
- 59:50SPEAKER_12: Let me turn this off up while we're waiting.
- 59:54SPEAKER_07: Alright, let me try to restart it.
- 59:56SPEAKER_07: Let's see what's happening here.
- 59:58SPEAKER_07: I don't understand it.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_07: Yes, yes, after some.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_07: Yes, have some.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_07: Meanwhile, you can enjoy this musical selection by Rand Haman.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_12: I think it's funny that uh so Sammy Hagar is doing the Vegas residency.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_12: And then all of a sudden David Lee Roth has come out of retirement and is now putting on shows.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_12: I think that's funny.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_10: That was David Lee Roth for you.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_10: Nope, still doing it.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_10: Still doing it.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_10: But anyway, uh she said that uh she really enjoyed uh Code Monkey.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_10: So Oh yeah?
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_10: Code Monkey is the choice.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_10: So you won.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_10: Uh let's see.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_12: Snapchat black screen error, how to fix it.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_12: Just a second here.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_12: I don't know why that's too.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_12: You can fix that by verifying camera permissions, turning off Snapchat's filters, uninstalling Snapchat updates, trying simple fixes, deleting cache data, and factory resetting your phone.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_12: Verify camera permissions.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_12: Uh sorry.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_12: Uh turn off Snapchat's filters.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but you you you shouldn't you didn't probably have all that stuff on.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_08: No, I don't use it to talk to the judge.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_08: So Oh well.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_08: Oh well.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_12: We'll see.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_12: Anyway, so see she chose she chose code monkey.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_12: Code monkey, yes.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_12: We got it.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_12: So we don't get her wonderful, her eloquent.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah, she you know, she always has a nice thing, but uh I I can't read it.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_10: So let's go with present.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_10: Present.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_10: So we got the uh I gotta pull it up here.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_10: Sounds about people watching.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_10: There's about people watching.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_10: So uh you're trying to leave Las Vegas, but your playing is five hours delayed.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_10: People watching is paramount.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_10: What song describes what you see?
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_10: Okay, so I went let's see what let's hear what cousin Larry had to say.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_12: I hope he doesn't pick the same one I picked.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_10: Oh, we'll see.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_10: Ah, mixtape.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_10: So many songs about Vegas and gambling.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_10: Ace of Spades by Motorhead, Kenny Rogers the Gambler, and When You're Hot, You're Hot by Jerry Reed, to name a few.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_10: The first song I thought of was Lonesome Loser by Little River Band.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_10: Oh, great song.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_10: But I think I have to go with Leaving Las Vegas by Cheryl Crow.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_10: So And then his odd honorable mess his honorable mention was Bob Seeger's Ramblin' Gambling Man.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_12: So he goes like direct to um I guess the scenario that you're in.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_12: I think in more general terms, but this is leaving Las Vegas.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that is, right?
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_12: That's what I I was trying to figure that out.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_12: And you you nailed it.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_12: That's uh based it's basic with it's not, but it's the same.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_10: It's it's the same chord progression, basically.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_12: So yeah, good job.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_07: Good ears, dude.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_07: Man, thank you.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_10: Okay, so mine went very simple.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_10: People are strange by the doors.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_12: So yep, that's pretty much sums it up.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: People are strange when you're a stranger.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_03: Faces look ugly when you're alone.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_03: Women seem wicked when you're unwanted.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_03: Streets on evil when you're down.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_12: That's perfect.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_12: That's perfect.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_12: Uh I have one.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_12: All right.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_12: Uh mine, yeah.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_12: I don't know if you've ever heard of the band, probably not.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_12: Uh but I bet you've heard the song.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_12: Uh The occasions.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_00: I'm a girl watcher.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_00: I'm a girl watcher.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: Watch a girl go by.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_00: I'm a girl watcher.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: I'm a girl watcher.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_00: Here comes one.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: I was when I threw away my toy.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: I found a new passport.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_12: It reminds me of that song, uh um anyway, that's my choice.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_12: I'm a girl watcher by the occasions.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_12: It reminds me of that song, um, uh If you wanna be happy for the rest of the world.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, that one, yeah.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_12: Never make a pretty world in your wife.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_12: So from my personal point of view, let me get an ugly girl to marry you.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_05: Then there's a conversation in the song where he says, I saw your wife today.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_07: Man, she is ugly.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, she's ugly, but she okay cook.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you can never make that song today.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_10: Never.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_10: Never.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_12: Uh so that's my choice.

- 1:10:04SPEAKER_12: Climb the wall.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_10: I'm looking through you from rubber.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_10: Ah, Jane Asher's move to Bristol continued to preoccupy Paul.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_10: Like how this starts off, it's just like, you know what's going on.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_10: It meant that she was no longer readily at hand, even though he was still living in her family home in Winpole Street.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_10: As a young working class man from Liverpool, he found it hard to come to terms with a girl who put her career before romance.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_10: He later admitted to Hunter Davies that his whole existence so far revol revolved around a living a carefree bachelor's life.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_10: He hadn't treated women as most people did.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_10: He'd always had a lot around him, even when he was had steady girlfriends.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_10: Quote, I knew I was selfish, he said.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_10: It caused a few rows, Jane went off, and I said, Okay, then leave.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_10: I'll find someone else.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_10: It was shattering to be without her.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_10: That's when I wrote, I'm looking through you.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_10: This was Paul's most bitter song so far.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_10: Rather than question his own attitudes, as he obviously did later, Paul accuses his woman of changing and holds out the thinly veiled threat of withdrawing his infection.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_10: Love has a habit, he warns of disappearing overnight.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_10: Interesting.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_12: I didn't even play the song.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_12: Sorry, because I was too busy climbing the wall.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_12: You were looking for stuff.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_12: I was looking for stuff.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_12: Uh and I do have an album.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_12: Hold on a second.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_12: Play a little bit of this.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_19: Where did you go?
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_10: See, you wouldn't you wouldn't really you wouldn't really think this is a bitter song because it's such an upbeat, like little They did that a lot.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_02: I'm looking through you.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_12: Good song.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_12: Good album.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_12: Rubber Soul.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_12: Oh, great album.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_10: One of the best albums ever.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_12: Um, I have an album.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_12: So let's be guessing beginning.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_10: Steely Dan?
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_12: I knew that using those words all together you would either think Chicago or Steely Dan.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_12: And yes, it's Steely Dan.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_12: Now, I have to admit, uh as a kid, I hated Steely Dan.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_10: I didn't get it.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_12: I didn't.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_12: That's the thing.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_12: I didn't get it.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_12: Uh when you have songs like this.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_12: I mean now I can totally like you're like, wow.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_10: But as a kid, you're like, what the frick is this?
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and just I mean, I I I tended to like Steely Dan when I got into radio.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_12: Because I could go to the bathroom.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'm about to say, yeah, it's a bat, it's definitely bathroom.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_12: This song is six minutes long.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_12: Um, Deacon Blues is seven and a half minutes long.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_12: Uh like Deacon Blues.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_12: I'll just let me so anyway, this is do it again.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_12: Uh I love this song.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_12: See, I hated this song as a kid.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_12: I love it now.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I love it now, yeah.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_12: And I don't know what changed.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_10: We just I think it just comes with deeper appreciation of music.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_10: Maybe.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_12: This is the day of the Donald Fagan has such a unique voice and delivery.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_17: That's shaping the band itself.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_12: Uh was I right though?
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_12: So rock, jazz, oh yeah, pop, yeah, all of it.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_12: Uh this is this goes into the the conversation we were having earlier about complexity.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_12: These guys are all over the place.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, you can, yeah.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_12: Listen to all those chords.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_12: It's just more complex music.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_12: Maybe that's why I didn't like it.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_10: That's probably it, because you you just want something who just like maybe.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_10: Um, it's not until you learn to appreciate music that you can appreciate Steely Dan.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_12: Um when I was a kid, if you asked me what my favorite Steely Dan song was, it would be this one.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_10: Well, I'd have been like, who's Steely Dan?
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know, tough.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_12: Um but they're famous for having um, and and maybe this this is one of the reasons I like them so much now, because my heroes love them.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_13: Steve Lukuthur, uh, Dan Huff, uh great guitar player, such a guitar player, adores these guys.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_12: Because of the rotating musicians that worked on their albums.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_12: Both drummers, guitar players, uh singers, Michael McDonald.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_12: You know, I think he played keys on the body.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_12: He played keys on them as well.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_12: Um it was just that whole that whole gang, you know, of California musicians that kind of, for lack of a better term, incestuous, you know, where they all worked on everybody's thing.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_12: Right, you know.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_12: Um and it wasn't like like these are jazz guitar players, so they're playing different types of guitar parts.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_12: And it's just interesting.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it's not your four-chord rock and roll, that's for sure.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_10: Uh all the time I've known you, I still don't know what you mean.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_10: Of course you got oh, I love this song.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_12: Me too.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_12: This is Michael McDonald's.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_12: This is definitely Michael feature quite prominently in the vocals.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_17: Your name is your big name.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_13: So many elements that you don't notice right away.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_10: You really kinda gotta listen to them with headphones.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_10: You do.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_10: You do.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_10: Here we go.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_02: You see it all.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_02: It's your favorite movie.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_12: Of course, there's Ricky.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_12: I didn't even tell you what the album was.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_12: Um The Definitive Collection.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_12: Steely Dan.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_12: Um, which also has a Donald Fagin, I think it's a Donald Fagan uh solo song.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_12: Isn't Cousin Dupree?
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_12: Is that Steely Dan?
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_10: I think it's Steely Dan.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_10: Is it really?
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_10: I always thought it was a no way.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_12: No, it is.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_12: It was a later Steely Dan song.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_12: Cousin Dupree, I think, is from uh it's not gonna tell me.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_17: We have your leaving.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_12: That's okay.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's not gonna tell me.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_12: But I think I think Cousin Depree is from from the 90s, maybe.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_12: They put out an album.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it's definitely later stuff.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_12: And you can you can tell.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_12: Let me.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_18: I guess you could.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_12: I mean I could I could go on and on.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_12: You could tell, you could tell.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_12: It sounds a little more modern.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_12: But definitely stealing the airphones.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_12: Oh definitely.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you can't get away with that.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_17: What the line knows?
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_12: I mean, you're tapping your foot, your boots moving your head.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_12: It's a groove.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_17: Come back home and my neck move.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_17: Come for my head out.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_17: Well I face out.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_17: Like a road.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_17: Well, we just play when we were three.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_17: How about a kids on your cousin to bring?
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_12: I mean it's a little creepy.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_05: A little bit.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_17: A little bit.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah, a little bit, a little bit.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_12: But I can uh you know, you put that on in the background and just have that play all yeah, you know, yeah, you just do whatever.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_10: It's great.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_10: It's a great album.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_12: 16 tracks.

- 1:20:53SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_12: Dang it.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_12: Anyway, that is that is the um Wall of Tunes artist of the day.
- 1:21:01SPEAKER_10: Oh, I forgot to.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_10: I don't think we've ever done Steely Dan.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_10: To be honest with you.
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_10: Did we ask a question?
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_10: No, we didn't.
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_12: We gotta go back because we're dumb.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_10: We're big, stupid, stupid heads.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_12: We're yes.
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_12: We so just so you know, um, we did mixtape, but we forgot to do the future.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_05: We didn't do the future question because we're big chubby heads.
- 1:21:29SPEAKER_12: So we're going to do we're we're going to do that now.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_12: We're gonna let I'm gonna give that to you.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_10: Um I don't think we've ever done Steely Dan.
- 1:21:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't think I don't remember doing Steely Dan.
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_10: I'm just double checking the big list y'all.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_12: John Simonoff just uh posted uh the his spring band concert was tonight.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_10: Oh, it was tonight, right?
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_12: And he put tonight, I'm going.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_12: Look at that.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_12: Fifth grade band, modern band, jazz band, middle school choir, middle school band, high school band.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_12: He's got a hands full up there.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, he does.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean, when you're the only music teacher in an entire district.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_12: He's got a couple helpers, but yeah.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_10: No, we have never done Steely Dance, so this is our first.
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_12: Oh, look at that.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_12: The track meet just finished.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 1:22:26SPEAKER_12: Eight forty-five.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_10: Basically dark out.
- 1:22:32SPEAKER_12: Uh all right, so take this.
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_09: All right, we gotta find it.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_09: We gotta find it.
- 1:23:18SPEAKER_10: The flag of Hawaii.
- 1:23:19SPEAKER_12: That's the flag of Hawaii.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_12: Why is the Union Jack part of it?
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_10: Because it was founded by James Corner.
- 1:23:26SPEAKER_10: He was the first white man to uh go there.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_12: So that has that always been the flag of Hawaii?
- 1:23:33SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_12: I did not know that.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_10: That is why.
- 1:23:39SPEAKER_10: Interesting.
- 1:23:40SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean, uh, technically.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_10: The first American flag had the Union Jack also.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_12: I think I knew that.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_10: It had the st the red and white stripes, but it had a Union Jack where the stars are now.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_10: Kind of like what's the it's called the Grand Union flag.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_10: That was that's technically the first that was before the the star star and stripe.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_10: The Betsy Ross flag, everybody knows.
- 1:24:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
