- 0:29Speaker 3: dot com. Turning now to Mitch McConnell.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Is he alive? Nobody knows? Well, I guess some people.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Now we have some great news for the audio.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Well, according to Scott Jennings, he may certainly
- 0:40Speaker 3: still be alive. And here he is on CNN where
- 0:44Speaker 3: he claims that he spoke with Mitch McConnell for twenty
- 0:47Speaker 3: minutes and he was totally cojin But when asked, can
- 0:50Speaker 3: we get him on the phone right now?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Crickets, let's take a listen.
- 0:53Speaker 5: Do you think he'd be willing to call into the show,
- 0:55Speaker 5: could we get him on the phone?
- 0:56Speaker 6: Now, you know, I wasn't really expecting him to call
- 0:59Speaker 6: the morning, to be honest, So when the phone rang
- 1:02Speaker 6: and I was able to talk to him, I was
- 1:04Speaker 6: I was frankly pretty grateful. I mean, as as I said,
- 1:06Speaker 6: I've known him since I was a teenager. If it
- 1:09Speaker 6: hadn't been for Mitch McConnell and the McConnell's Center at
- 1:11Speaker 6: the University of Louisville, you know, I would never have
- 1:13Speaker 6: been able to go to college. He's been my mentor,
- 1:15Speaker 6: and he changed the trajectory of my life. So you know,
- 1:17Speaker 6: when things happened to him and happened to people in
- 1:19Speaker 6: your life that you really care about, you know, you
- 1:22Speaker 6: just sort of naturally feel extremely worried. So when I
- 1:24Speaker 6: heard his voice today and he was clearly keeping up
- 1:26Speaker 6: with stuff, that made me happy to hear from him, because,
- 1:29Speaker 6: like everybody else, I've been, you know, somewhat in the
- 1:31Speaker 6: dark about it. But to hear him talking and that
- 1:34Speaker 6: know that he's also talking to the Senate leadership, it
- 1:36Speaker 6: made me pretty happy.
- 1:37Speaker 5: The mega media ecosphere, shall we say, has been driving
- 1:42Speaker 5: a lot of the questions about where Mitch McConnell has
- 1:46Speaker 5: been and what has happened to him. You, of course,
- 1:50Speaker 5: are in tune with that in the role you have
- 1:51Speaker 5: on your radio show. Do you think they should put
- 1:56Speaker 5: out a picture of Mitch McConnell, that he should release
- 1:58Speaker 5: more of the public to quiet this noise?
- 2:02Speaker 6: Yeah? I think I think Al had a good point
- 2:04Speaker 6: about McConnell's general disposition towards privacy. I sometimes wonder, like
- 2:09Speaker 6: if I were laying in a hospital bed, but I
- 2:11Speaker 6: want a bunch of.
- 2:11Speaker 1: People around photographing me.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Probably not, particularly if I were an eighty four year
- 2:16Speaker 6: old person who's normally private about his health. Probably not.
- 2:20Speaker 6: But I look, I take the criticism. I think it's
- 2:23Speaker 6: a fair question about transparency. I think it's a fair
- 2:26Speaker 6: question about whether they've done enough. But ultimately, these office holders,
- 2:30Speaker 6: you know, they're they're in charge of their own operations,
- 2:33Speaker 6: and and you know it may be somebody around him
- 2:35Speaker 6: says let's put out a picture and he doesn't want
- 2:37Speaker 6: to do it. I think I think that's a that's
- 2:40Speaker 6: a fair observation from Al. But all I can tell
- 2:43Speaker 6: you today is all the rumors about him being dead
- 2:45Speaker 6: or brain dead, or you know, being his body's being
- 2:48Speaker 6: hidden somewhere. I've seen all kinds of crazy things on
- 2:50Speaker 6: the internet. That's obviously not true, because he picked up
- 2:52Speaker 6: the phone and called me, and that was a that
- 2:54Speaker 6: was a good thing.
- 2:55Speaker 3: That was a really long way of saying, No, I
- 2:56Speaker 3: can't get him on.
- 2:57Speaker 1: The phone, right Yeah, for a picture or a picture
- 3:01Speaker 1: that I could get you.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I don't want to accuse you of lying, but because
- 3:04Speaker 4: that's an extraordinary thing to lie about. But that is,
- 3:10Speaker 4: this is so weird. So and now obviously now.
- 3:14Speaker 3: So our producer Mac thinks that there's an AIM campaign
- 3:17Speaker 3: going on right now.
- 3:18Speaker 1: That's not good for I'm.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Just floating Miss mccon's first.
- 3:21Speaker 3: He thinks that there's like somebody using it, which I mean,
- 3:25Speaker 3: it is possible in today's day, and who would put
- 3:29Speaker 3: considering the track record Finestein of the guy who just
- 3:33Speaker 3: disappeared for three and a half months empression for I mean,
- 3:36Speaker 3: it's so many of these Who was the guy walking
- 3:39Speaker 3: around Senate with Alzheimer's and everybody knew in thing?
- 3:42Speaker 1: No Wickers still I think he's still all there. No
- 3:45Speaker 1: Fad Cochrane. That's sorry, but that Cochrane.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Everyone knew that he was. Everyone knew that and nobody
- 3:55Speaker 3: said he.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Was walking on with a diaper.
- 3:57Speaker 3: It was only afterwards, after I think he resign or
- 4:00Speaker 3: something like that, that everyone was like, hey, yeah, we
- 4:02Speaker 3: all knew that he had been out to lunch for
- 4:04Speaker 3: a long time, Like, well, it would have been nice
- 4:05Speaker 3: if all said something, you know, and so you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: how could you put it above? Really like some sort
- 4:10Speaker 3: of lying campaign. Again, I'm not alleging in it any
- 4:13Speaker 3: way that that's what happened. I'm more just saying like,
- 4:15Speaker 3: there are genuine questions here to be asked because the
- 4:17Speaker 3: circumstances are so nuts, and these tweets that these guys
- 4:20Speaker 3: have put out, let's put.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Them up here.
- 4:22Speaker 3: This became a meme online. Is for example, like before
- 4:26Speaker 3: Scott went on the air, he said, I spoke to
- 4:27Speaker 3: my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior senator
- 4:30Speaker 3: from Kentucky, still recovering in the hospital. We talked just
- 4:32Speaker 3: sh I have twenty minutes about Iran, Ukraine all caps
- 4:35Speaker 3: for some reason, the unfolding situation in Maine, all caps,
- 4:38Speaker 3: my visit to the tr Presidential Library, and even a
- 4:40Speaker 3: little bit of Senate history. I told him we want
- 4:42Speaker 3: to see him back at work. As soon as possible.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And then there was also another statement that put out
- 4:47Speaker 3: from Senator Barasso. Senator Barasso and Senator McConnell had a
- 4:50Speaker 3: lengthy conversation early this afternoon. Their phone call lasted twenty minutes.
- 4:55Speaker 3: They caught up about the latest news impacting state Senate races, etc.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Et cetera.
- 5:00Speaker 3: McConnell is fully engaged, as fully an eager to get
- 5:03Speaker 3: back to the Senate, and so they claim. But now
- 5:08Speaker 3: we have this new statement from the governor, we could
- 5:11Speaker 3: put that one up there on the screen, guys, where
- 5:13Speaker 3: the Democratic Governor of Kentucky has now sent a letter
- 5:16Speaker 3: to the office of Mitch McConnell requesting an update on
- 5:20Speaker 3: his health and proof being one proof of life and
- 5:23Speaker 3: made growing concerns around the senator's ability to serve. We
- 5:26Speaker 3: have not yet received that statement.
- 5:30Speaker 4: So Thomas Massey has also come in and said that
- 5:33Speaker 4: he has spoken with McConnell. Yes, he posted, he said,
- 5:37Speaker 4: I spoke to McConnell for about twenty minutes this morning.
- 5:39Speaker 4: He said we should end the war with Iran, quit
- 5:42Speaker 4: giving aid to Israel, stop spying on Americans without a warrant,
- 5:46Speaker 4: and he's really sorry about how my primary turned out.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Since then, McConnell has not disputed the characterization of Massey
- 5:54Speaker 4: of this alleged phone call. Hassan Piker twitch streamer also said,
- 6:00Speaker 4: I can read his post. He said, just got off
- 6:02Speaker 4: the phone with miss McConnell. We had phone sex.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Oh, so he could deny it.
- 6:08Speaker 4: McConnell of course could deny this. It wasn't true.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, McConnell's should come out and he could deny it.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Of course we have not yet, and.
- 6:14Speaker 4: This tweet has three million views. So if McConnell is scrolling,
- 6:19Speaker 4: he has seen this and has yet to deny it.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Let's pit see for what was Producer Max produser Mac
- 6:26Speaker 4: had a good one too.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I hadn't seen his Mac.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You could send yours and we'll read it here on
- 6:31Speaker 3: the air. After I read this statement from Elaine Chow.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So Elaine Choo, his wife, the daughter of a Taiwanese
- 6:38Speaker 3: billionaire with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party, who
- 6:43Speaker 3: recently just took a trip to China while her husband
- 6:46Speaker 3: was languishing in the hospital at eighty four years old,
- 6:49Speaker 3: two days after heart attack. Truly loved to see a
- 6:51Speaker 3: good love story here at the end, It's just like
- 6:54Speaker 3: the notebook, but she releases a statement saying the Secretary
- 6:58Speaker 3: was on a long plan trip to China to support
- 7:01Speaker 3: her family's philanthropic endeavors. During the trip, she met with
- 7:04Speaker 3: a number of people, including the US ambassador. The senator's
- 7:07Speaker 3: health did not warrant an immediate return to the United States.
- 7:11Speaker 4: It could be read multiple ways.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Yeah, they added, Chow has since returned from her trip.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Is back in the.
- 7:17Speaker 3: United States, not in Kentucky, that can be United States.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Her staff did not say if she's been in contact
- 7:23Speaker 3: with McConnell since returning home. You have to read Max, Okay,
- 7:29Speaker 3: what is it? What does he got? He says, just
- 7:31Speaker 3: got off the phone with Mitch McConnell. He told me, ah, shit,
- 7:33Speaker 3: it's hot. Fuck, there's so much fire. Oh that's good,
- 7:47Speaker 3: all right, got.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Too soon, But it's not too soon because he's alive
- 7:55Speaker 4: and well. The only reason this is funny as because
- 8:00Speaker 4: we know that he's alive and well and yeah, recovery
- 8:02Speaker 4: said joke. And he will return to work his old
- 8:05Speaker 4: form very soon.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Let's put the lyes Les put Ce five up here
- 8:10Speaker 3: on this screen inside the McConnell health Rumor Mill. This
- 8:14Speaker 3: is from axios, so they're trying to report it with
- 8:16Speaker 3: a straight face.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm like, I can hear what they.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Say is Senate GOP leaders say they have spoken with McConnell.
- 8:23Speaker 3: As speculation swirls among MAGA influencers about the Kentucky Republicans health,
- 8:27Speaker 3: McConnell has been hospitalized for roughly three weeks no information
- 8:31Speaker 3: about his condition. Both the Senate Majority Leader and John Barrasso,
- 8:35Speaker 3: as well as Scott Jennings, all claimed that they had
- 8:37Speaker 3: spoken with him. They had lengthy and substantive conversation. However,
- 8:42Speaker 3: influential MAGA voices have fueled speculation about his health status.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Laura Lumer has claimed, without evidence, the senator is brain
- 8:50Speaker 3: dead and hoked up to machines.
- 8:51Speaker 1: She is now alleging a cover up.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Glenn Beck says we need the truth about Mitch McConnell now.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's unacceptable.
- 8:58Speaker 3: The party spent four years sizing Joe Biden's health is
- 9:01Speaker 3: now silent on mcconnald's. Under Kentucky state law, if the
- 9:05Speaker 3: Senate vacancy were to occur before August third, the special
- 9:08Speaker 3: election would be held quickly to fell the seat, Whereas
- 9:10Speaker 3: if a vacancy were to occur after August third, then
- 9:13Speaker 3: the Senator would be elected in November as planned, And
- 9:17Speaker 3: so obviously that's pretty important, especially in the midst of
- 9:20Speaker 3: the EMS call cardiac arrests audio that we played for
- 9:23Speaker 3: all of you. By the way, Trump is either in
- 9:26Speaker 3: on it or doesn't want to say. He was asked
- 9:28Speaker 3: yesterday a board Air Force one, do you know anything
- 9:31Speaker 3: about McConnell's health, and he said, I haven't spoken to him,
- 9:34Speaker 3: and I have no idea what's going on.
- 9:36Speaker 4: So Trump is at once the biggest liar on the planet.
- 9:39Speaker 4: But also you can't lie.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yes, sometimes, yeah, you can't lie.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Right, That was the most that was In my opinion,
- 9:45Speaker 3: that was a very revealing thing because if he actually was,
- 9:48Speaker 3: you know, very healthy or whatever and was talking to people,
- 9:51Speaker 3: he would assume he would call the president. Look, I
- 9:54Speaker 3: have no idea. His wife is in China. It's weird
- 9:57Speaker 3: cardiac arrest. You only got three people aimed to have
- 10:00Speaker 3: spoken to him on the phone. I mean, you got
- 10:04Speaker 3: no updates from his Health's been three weeks in the hospital.
- 10:07Speaker 3: He's an eighty four year old man. It's all very
- 10:10Speaker 3: very sketchy, sketchy. All right, let's get to Abdullah said.
- 10:16Speaker 4: The two remaining Senate candidates for the Democratic primary in
- 10:19Speaker 4: Michigan met for a debate this week. Abdul Elsaiad pressed
- 10:24Speaker 4: his opponent, Haley Stevens on her fealty to Israel and
- 10:27Speaker 4: her contributions from APAC.
- 10:30Speaker 7: Let's take a listen to that the congressman needs to
- 10:32Speaker 7: answer is why has she allowed forty million dollars of
- 10:35Speaker 7: outside spending, the bulk of it coming from APAC, to
- 10:38Speaker 7: come into this race. I don't think Benjamin ettinaw who
- 10:40Speaker 7: is attacking her, to actually attack her. I think he's
- 10:42Speaker 7: attacking her to try and steer away the stink of
- 10:46Speaker 7: how staunchly she stands for their policy.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So let's take that opportunity.
- 10:50Speaker 7: Explain what you've given away for APOC support in this race,
- 10:55Speaker 7: Wary COSTUPO.
- 10:56Speaker 8: No one owns my vote and no one owns my policies.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Anyone who is contributing to my Senate campaign is doing
- 11:03Speaker 8: so because of my proven record of fighting for Michigan,
- 11:07Speaker 8: what I did when I served as chief of staff
- 11:09Speaker 8: on the US Auto Rescue saving two hundred thousand Michigan jobs,
- 11:14Speaker 8: and what I have done to get the Chips and
- 11:17Speaker 8: Science Act passed and signed into law. What my opponent
- 11:20Speaker 8: needs to answer is why is the GOP spending thousands
- 11:24Speaker 8: of dollars to prop up his campaign saying that he
- 11:27Speaker 8: will make Mike Rogers the next US Senator.
- 11:30Speaker 4: By the way, Haley stevens work on the auto bailout
- 11:35Speaker 4: is in fact her top calling card for that primary,
- 11:39Speaker 4: because it's extremely popular. What rom Emanuel said, we should
- 11:43Speaker 4: just let Detroit go bankrupt, and he was overruled by Obama.
- 11:46Speaker 1: That was Romney.
- 11:47Speaker 4: He wrote that op ed Romney Robin. It really hurt Romney.
- 11:50Speaker 4: It's twenty twelve campaign. But internally Roma men had said
- 11:56Speaker 4: just don't do it. There was a big fight over it,
- 11:58Speaker 4: and Haley Stevens to her it was on the side
- 12:00Speaker 4: of we need to implement a bailout for Detroit.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Right, But UAW indoorspetmus u AW.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Yes, that's that's a key point. So her number one
- 12:10Speaker 4: thing is undercut by the fact that the UAW is
- 12:13Speaker 4: behind el said. Now, if you noticed in there, abdul
- 12:17Speaker 4: Saide is referring to Netnyaho attacking her. Something extraordinarily interesting
- 12:22Speaker 4: happened earlier that day, right before the debate that people
- 12:28Speaker 4: are frustrated about and suggesting that it was coordinated. So
- 12:35Speaker 4: let's play this clip of net Yahoo on CNN with
- 12:40Speaker 4: Dana Bash.
- 12:41Speaker 9: Congresswoman Haley Stevens, she's running for Senate in Michigan, said,
- 12:45Speaker 9: Benjamin Yetta Naho has made us less safe. He has
- 12:49Speaker 9: frankly put Jews in an uncomfortable position across the country.
- 12:53Speaker 10: Have you.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Well, it's it's made her uncomfortable because she can't stand
- 12:59Speaker 4: up for a the truth. She's trying to probably excuse
- 13:02Speaker 4: anti Semitism.
- 13:03Speaker 9: You know, he's not She's I mean, I just want
- 13:06Speaker 9: to explain it. She's somebody who supports Israel. She supports
- 13:09Speaker 9: funding Israel, which is diminishing big time among Democrats and
- 13:13Speaker 9: even some Republicans in the United States Congress.
- 13:16Speaker 8: It is very clear that mister Netnyahu has not made
- 13:21Speaker 8: us safer, has not brought us closer to peace, and
- 13:24Speaker 8: he's endangered Jews here in America and around the world.
- 13:28Speaker 8: This is why he was just trashing me today on CNN.
- 13:32Speaker 8: I am not afraid of bullies. I am not afraid
- 13:35Speaker 8: to stand up and I continue to stand up for
- 13:38Speaker 8: humanitarian aid, for the US to work with the countries
- 13:42Speaker 8: in the region and get aid into Gaza.
- 13:45Speaker 4: And so Sagar and the lead into that question, Dana
- 13:47Speaker 4: bash had said, a lot of Jewish leaders here in
- 13:50Speaker 4: the United States believe that your behavior is making Jews
- 13:56Speaker 4: in America less safe. For instance, Haley Stevens has said
- 13:59Speaker 4: x this.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Is the new line.
- 14:01Speaker 3: By the way, is that this raw Emmanuel Hailey Stephens
- 14:04Speaker 3: line is it's BB's fault.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It's all about BB. Right, Yeah, Israel is good, but
- 14:08Speaker 1: Bbe is bad.
- 14:09Speaker 4: But Hailey Stevens, by the way, is not Jewish. A
- 14:11Speaker 4: lot of people have made the claim, made the claim
- 14:14Speaker 4: that Dana bashe's talking about and frankly, I think she's
- 14:16Speaker 4: correct about it. Uh, why did she pick Hailey Stevens,
- 14:20Speaker 4: who is not Jewish as a stand in for Jewish
- 14:23Speaker 4: leaders in the United States.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's a good point.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Because she had a debate that night against Abdul al Sayad.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Stevens repeatedly referenced net Yahou attacking her in that debate.
- 14:37Speaker 4: It was her biggest defense against the fact that Apak
- 14:41Speaker 4: is spending millions of dollars to support her. And so
- 14:46Speaker 4: even if Politico reported on this in a rather straightforward
- 14:50Speaker 4: like way, is calling out the cynicism of it. That
- 14:52Speaker 4: of how how how direct the link seemed to be
- 14:54Speaker 4: that this was, that this was being weaponized in her
- 14:58Speaker 4: in her on her behalf.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Right zoom out right.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Is that Dana Bash asked the question about Hayley Stephens
- 15:04Speaker 3: bbe attacks her. Stevens uses that attack as a direct
- 15:09Speaker 3: link and as a direct retort in the debate against
- 15:13Speaker 3: all said's most potent attack against him democratic.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe Dana Bash didn't know there was a debate
- 15:18Speaker 4: that night. Maybe it was a coincidence. In any event,
- 15:22Speaker 4: it was a very fortunate turn of events for Haley Stevens.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Now she also takes an enormous amount of corporate money,
- 15:28Speaker 4: and Abdulall's side hit her on that let's roll D three.
- 15:32Speaker 7: To get their way and now you can buy a
- 15:34Speaker 7: cheap TV, but you can't find a manufacturing job that
- 15:36Speaker 7: can actually feed your family. That is the devastation of
- 15:39Speaker 7: corporate bought politics. Is the only candidate who's never taken
- 15:41Speaker 7: a dime from a corporation. You know I'm going to
- 15:43Speaker 7: stand up for you. It's the reason again w nurses
- 15:46Speaker 7: AFT have all supported us, because when it comes to
- 15:49Speaker 7: the choice between working people and corporations, I will pick
- 15:51Speaker 7: people every time.
- 15:52Speaker 8: Yeah, and it's the only reason you haven't released your
- 15:54Speaker 8: tax returns and fifteen labor unions are endorsement.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Has another sugaring respond quickly, very quickly.
- 16:02Speaker 7: Yeah, I took the same extension that the congressman took
- 16:04Speaker 7: every single year.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Returns extend.
- 16:10Speaker 8: There's a problem putting money in your pocketbook.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Right, So she's hitting him on having a filthy rich
- 16:14Speaker 4: spouse basically, and he hasn't, you know, put his tax
- 16:18Speaker 4: returns out. Filthy rich people have very complicated turn but
- 16:24Speaker 4: also they have very embarrassing tax returns in a country
- 16:27Speaker 4: that purports to believe in some sort of galitarian as right.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, seeing on paper, if you ever look at a
- 16:35Speaker 3: super rich person's taxes like this, The first of all,
- 16:37Speaker 3: it's like a book, but the top line where you
- 16:39Speaker 3: see income and then you see what they pay, You're
- 16:41Speaker 3: like holy shit, You're like, wait, you got to keep what?
- 16:44Speaker 1: What? How is that exactly?
- 16:46Speaker 4: I thought we had a progressive tax system.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Ho. You're like, wait, your effective tax rates fifteen percent
- 16:51Speaker 3: and mine's like forty.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You know, how does that work.
- 16:54Speaker 3: I'm not talking about me specifically, I'm saying, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 3: if if you like, if you factor in whatever the
- 16:59Speaker 3: what's it called, like the FIKA and everything else, compared
- 17:03Speaker 3: to what some of these private interesting barons are I'm assuming.
- 17:05Speaker 3: So he keeps alluding to his wife's real estate. That
- 17:08Speaker 3: means they pay nothing. These real estate right, real estate
- 17:11Speaker 3: guys watches all constantly just doing depreciation and all this other.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And you said so much they're paying nothing in taxes. Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 3: so you know he's got a low taxic that's what props.
- 17:21Speaker 3: That's why Trump paid nothing for like twenty fours. Yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 3: that's what they all do, everybody. That's what all of
- 17:25Speaker 3: them say. It's like, if you actually really want to
- 17:26Speaker 3: get wealthy and pay zero taxes, just buy real estate.
- 17:28Speaker 4: So Meddi Hassan hit him on this a little bit.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Let's go to D four. Here's alside and Maddie.
- 17:34Speaker 10: Ailey Stevens has also attacked you and Mike Rodgers for
- 17:36Speaker 10: being millionaires who, she says, conveniently did not file their
- 17:40Speaker 10: twenty twenty six personal financial disclosures. You sought an extension
- 17:43Speaker 10: through August thirteenth, I believe, which is after the primary.
- 17:48Speaker 10: Was this to avoid transparency with your vehters? Why not
- 17:50Speaker 10: release them before the election?
- 17:51Speaker 7: No, just taxes get complicated my wife and her family
- 17:54Speaker 7: owned property abroad, and so getting all those tax forms
- 17:57Speaker 7: is a thing. And this is, by the way, the
- 17:59Speaker 7: same extension that.
- 18:00Speaker 10: She said, you're a millionaire and you're hiding that.
- 18:02Speaker 7: Well, if you take my assets and hur my wife's
- 18:05Speaker 7: assets together, then I guess they add up to something
- 18:07Speaker 7: like that. But my career has never been about trying
- 18:09Speaker 7: to maximize on money. Otherwise I would have just gone
- 18:12Speaker 7: and been a surgeon. But you know, my focus has
- 18:14Speaker 7: always been on public service. And it's interesting to try
- 18:16Speaker 7: and compare apples to oranges here. If you file on
- 18:19Speaker 7: your own, then of course your assets look like one thing,
- 18:22Speaker 7: which Congressman Stevens does. If you file with a partner,
- 18:25Speaker 7: your assets might look like something else.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He's also he's sitting on a boatload rich.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Rich people always extend anyway, right, So they don't file
- 18:34Speaker 4: until October, like regular people file in April. Rich people
- 18:37Speaker 4: file in October.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Exactly, and you have to pay in April, right, rich
- 18:40Speaker 3: don't they file?
- 18:41Speaker 4: But they don't pay, so yes, so there's nothing there's
- 18:44Speaker 4: nothing really to pay.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Can I give a defense here of Abdul I was
- 18:47Speaker 3: telling you earlier, I've been telling the group chat this
- 18:50Speaker 3: for days.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Rich wife populism is as old as time.
- 18:53Speaker 3: If you look at some of the reformers throughout their
- 18:56Speaker 3: eighteen hundreds and others. A man of letters need needs
- 19:00Speaker 3: a gentried wife who's rich whose father struck it rich,
- 19:04Speaker 3: not her specifically, it needs a gentried wife too, so
- 19:07Speaker 3: that he can pursue his letters in public service. This
- 19:11Speaker 3: is a tale as old as time. And so you've
- 19:13Speaker 3: got Rokanna, Mary's a filthy rich wife. You've got Abdul
- 19:17Speaker 3: who Mary's a filthy rich wife, both Indian American filthy
- 19:19Speaker 3: rich wives, which is very cool.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And then who else have you got?
- 19:22Speaker 3: You've got Richie Stunach, right, I mean he's not a populist,
- 19:25Speaker 3: but you know Richie Sunach, who is the Prime Minister's
- 19:27Speaker 3: married some Indian billionaire Beto married a filthy rich woman
- 19:32Speaker 3: as well. I think that this is a tale as
- 19:33Speaker 3: old as time is. To pursue public service, you need
- 19:36Speaker 3: to marry into money. And so I have I have
- 19:38Speaker 3: an extraordinary amount of a leeway and defense for men
- 19:42Speaker 3: who marry into very very rich families. I think I
- 19:44Speaker 3: think it's kind of a it's a very Lindy phenomenon
- 19:47Speaker 3: going back all the way to the British Empire.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Cole Marx's wife is doing pretty well.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Yeah, her father, Lennon's wife, I forget. I don't think so.
- 19:56Speaker 4: No, she was a revolutionary, right, But I mean it
- 19:59Speaker 4: doesn't mean you can't be rich. There was a what
- 20:02Speaker 4: do they call it, like the Red Duchess or something,
- 20:04Speaker 4: a really rich, really rich duchess in Europe who funded
- 20:09Speaker 4: a lot of the communists. Yeah, these newspapers and.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Stuff very common, right, And you need a gentried, rich
- 20:15Speaker 3: woman to be able to support your dream as a man.
- 20:18Speaker 4: You know, I support rich.
- 20:19Speaker 1: What's wrong with that?
- 20:20Speaker 3: Like Frederick Engels, Frederick Engels, you're exactly right. So yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 3: I have a total defense here of Abden of Abdul
- 20:27Speaker 3: of Row. You know, every time the Row of Trading
- 20:30Speaker 3: figures come out, it's like, bro, it's his wife.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He's not him sitting around doing this.
- 20:34Speaker 3: But he's like what he is he gonna do? He's
- 20:35Speaker 3: gonna tell her what to do. You can't be doing that.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It's her money.
- 20:38Speaker 4: He's literally trying to pass federal legislation right to.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Stop his So you do what you need. If it's
- 20:48Speaker 1: your money, keep doing what you need to do.
- 20:53Speaker 4: You also saw him saying the clip that if he
- 20:55Speaker 4: really wanted to get rich, he would have become a
- 20:56Speaker 4: surgeon rather than a public health official. And that was
- 20:59Speaker 4: his He was the public health official for the state
- 21:01Speaker 4: of Michigan. He was widely credited as having done a
- 21:05Speaker 4: good job. That's been his kind of his calling card
- 21:08Speaker 4: in the campaign. But that means he also has never
- 21:12Speaker 4: been a practicing physician. Meddi. The right wing has been
- 21:17Speaker 4: beating him up on that. Helly Stephens consultants have been
- 21:19Speaker 4: beating him up on that. I don't quite think that
- 21:20Speaker 4: one lands Medi went back and forth him a little
- 21:22Speaker 4: bit on that. Let's roll D five.
- 21:24Speaker 10: You got attacked by your rivals for calling yourself a physician,
- 21:28Speaker 10: not just a doctor, even though you don't have a
- 21:31Speaker 10: valid state medical license in New York or Michigan, which
- 21:34Speaker 10: apparently is what you need legally to call yourself a physician.
- 21:37Speaker 10: Do you wish you'd just stuck to calling yourself a doctor,
- 21:40Speaker 10: which you are, to avoid all of this controversy and
- 21:43Speaker 10: attacks on your physicians.
- 21:44Speaker 7: You know, at the end of the day, it's not
- 21:45Speaker 7: about whether or not I'm a physician or a doctor.
- 21:47Speaker 7: The question is can you see doctor? It's not about
- 21:49Speaker 7: my education. It's about whether not your kid gives a
- 21:51Speaker 7: good education, so time.
- 21:54Speaker 10: But people would say it's also about did you tell
- 21:56Speaker 10: the truth?
- 21:56Speaker 7: Well, I would say that I was the health director
- 21:58Speaker 7: for the city Detroit, and I've done more to provide
- 22:00Speaker 7: more people health care or eliminate their medical debt than
- 22:03Speaker 7: most the doctors have done in their practice career.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I don't know how I feel.
- 22:06Speaker 4: So it was a Detroit, I said statewide. I thought
- 22:08Speaker 4: it was wide like Detroit.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Full tuition scholarship to the University of Michigan Medical School.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Did in two years there, he led the mission, then
- 22:16Speaker 3: went on to receive an MD. Yet did that in
- 22:20Speaker 3: twenty fourteen. He completed an MD at Columbia University, so
- 22:24Speaker 3: he has an MD, but he did not He also
- 22:28Speaker 3: went to Oxford. Yeah, it looks like he did. He
- 22:32Speaker 3: did a Rohose scholar a Rhodes scholarship, so he is
- 22:36Speaker 3: very highly educated.
- 22:37Speaker 1: We'll give it.
- 22:37Speaker 4: The guy's got the credentials.
- 22:39Speaker 1: But he is not a doctor.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Or if he's an MD, so the doctor is going
- 22:44Speaker 3: to get urias of me. He's an MD, but he's
- 22:46Speaker 3: not a board certified physician because he didn't do residency
- 22:49Speaker 3: or he didn't complete residency. Remember this was a controversy
- 22:52Speaker 3: with the Surgeon General woman who Withdrew Casey means because
- 22:56Speaker 3: she also never completed residency and she was going to
- 22:59Speaker 3: be a These are the scholar, no doubt, doctors get
- 23:02Speaker 3: very upset about these types of things about when I
- 23:05Speaker 3: get it, you all worked very very hard, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 3: just zooming out a little bit and looking at the
- 23:11Speaker 3: polling before we go to the property tax stuff, Ryan, what.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Is HD in public health at Oxford? If that makes sense?
- 23:17Speaker 4: But then the mds so many credittions.
- 23:20Speaker 3: What is your take here about these types of attacks
- 23:23Speaker 3: on Alsaiet because I mean, we shouldn't we shouldn't misrepresent
- 23:26Speaker 3: it like they are tied virtually in the pulse right,
- 23:29Speaker 3: it does seem to be a battle between the old
- 23:32Speaker 3: and the young Alsai. It's favorables with young people are astronomical.
- 23:37Speaker 3: So he's got a lot of the activists on his side,
- 23:40Speaker 3: and he's trying to do some more crossover appill with
- 23:42Speaker 3: old people, which we'll talk.
- 23:43Speaker 1: About it for in a second.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Turns out he wants to win.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He wants to win.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But just before we you know, do our fun segment
- 23:50Speaker 3: about property tax like, what's your read on the race
- 23:53Speaker 3: as it stands now? Like, how do you think she
- 23:55Speaker 3: came out of the debate? Especially looks he got some
- 23:58Speaker 3: great hits on her. But these have been really boosted
- 24:01Speaker 3: by the Republic. That's what we're showing it to you.
- 24:02Speaker 3: These Mandy Hassen clips, they're all over social media and
- 24:06Speaker 3: Michigan Mahaley Stevens campaign as well. Who are really using
- 24:09Speaker 3: them to attack ELSI? It's credibility. So I'm curious what
- 24:12Speaker 3: you think.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I mean, with enough money, everything makes something of a dent.
- 24:18Speaker 4: And I didn't think that was a great answer. It doesn't.
- 24:20Speaker 4: It was he had this can line, It doesn't matter
- 24:22Speaker 4: about my education. It matters about your kids education. It's
- 24:26Speaker 4: like if you went if you have a PhD in
- 24:28Speaker 4: an MD, and you went to your Rhodes scholar and
- 24:30Speaker 4: you went to Oxford and University of Michigan Medical School,
- 24:34Speaker 4: go ahead and say that, like, because they're going to
- 24:35Speaker 4: imply like people are going to take away from that. Oh,
- 24:38Speaker 4: he didn't even go to medical school, right. It's like
- 24:41Speaker 4: if you went to medical school and got a PhD
- 24:43Speaker 4: in public health and you were the City of Detroit's
- 24:45Speaker 4: public health director. What are we talking about. You're obviously
- 24:49Speaker 4: a doctor here, but it's you know, now it's a
- 24:54Speaker 4: head to head match, and she's going to be able
- 24:57Speaker 4: to outspend him through super Pac support significantly from not
- 25:01Speaker 4: a Democracy Project, APAC, super Pac plus, you know, the
- 25:05Speaker 4: entire kind of world that doesn't want to see el
- 25:09Speaker 4: Side's politics dominate. They're trying to use Platner against him, which.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Yes, that's that's very much been happening because they share
- 25:16Speaker 3: because he's a manology Well no, no, it's because he
- 25:18Speaker 3: has the same type of online supporters. And actually that's
- 25:21Speaker 3: the next thing I want to put up. Can we
- 25:23Speaker 3: put up this NBC thing? I put it assented to
- 25:25Speaker 3: the chat. This was really fascinating. So the latest hit,
- 25:29Speaker 3: according to this NBC News article, which is about inside
- 25:33Speaker 3: the you know, slugfest of the Senate primary, is Hailey Stevens'
- 25:37Speaker 3: campaign wants to paint el Sayad quote as a sexist
- 25:41Speaker 3: podcast bro because he's appeared on a show like ours.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I think with Didney campaign with Hassan Piking they did right,
- 25:48Speaker 3: So it's things like that where they want to use
- 25:51Speaker 3: the podcast bro. Image of Maga from twenty twenty four
- 25:56Speaker 3: to basically smear him and say, oh, he's one of
- 25:58Speaker 3: these online bro.
- 26:02Speaker 1: In this sphere.
- 26:03Speaker 4: So Democrats in a year have gone from we need
- 26:07Speaker 4: our own Joe Rogan because we need to reach out
- 26:09Speaker 4: to men. Two.
- 26:10Speaker 3: He has been on podcasts, yes, and podcasts are bad.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Podcasts are bad, all of them. Here's a podcast bro,
- 26:17Speaker 4: and therefore he needs to be reject.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:21Speaker 4: That is a victory that spells defeat if I've ever
- 26:24Speaker 4: heard of.
- 26:24Speaker 3: It's a cynical, cynical take. Well, I don't know, because
- 26:28Speaker 3: it seems to me because it's a swing defeat long
- 26:31Speaker 3: term fair. Absolutely, it seems to me like people getably.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Going to win.
- 26:35Speaker 3: No, I mean, Mike Rogers, like, I'm sorry, you're cooked
- 26:37Speaker 3: in a wave election year where Trump Trump, I mean,
- 26:40Speaker 3: Michigan is what I would say is one of his
- 26:43Speaker 3: least strong states that he's He won it twice first
- 26:46Speaker 3: time twenty sixteen is like ten thousand votes. Second time
- 26:49Speaker 3: around for sorry, third time around. I forget exactly how
- 26:53Speaker 3: much he wanted. It wasn't a lot, like in terms
- 26:55Speaker 3: of the margin, like he won Pennsylvania, I believe more
- 26:58Speaker 3: than he won by Michigan. Michigan is a tough tough
- 27:00Speaker 3: place for Donald Trump. And so then if you factor
- 27:03Speaker 3: in less than one hundred thousand votes, less one hund
- 27:06Speaker 3: k votes, I mean, it's just not a lot of
- 27:07Speaker 3: votes Michigan. So if you got and Alyssa Slackin was
- 27:12Speaker 3: also able to win at the same time, So the
- 27:13Speaker 3: split ticket already and that's in a Republican wave election.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Hoopy win behind his back. He won by with the
- 27:18Speaker 4: way behind his back.
- 27:19Speaker 1: He barely wins, you know, that election.
- 27:21Speaker 3: If Gaza doesn't happen, or if Kamala does a does
- 27:24Speaker 3: a better job, she potentially wins Michigan just to those
- 27:27Speaker 3: noble didn't come out to vote. So all those people
- 27:29Speaker 3: are going to come out to vote for the Democrat
- 27:30Speaker 3: I think, no matter what.
- 27:31Speaker 1: So then it's a big question of like, okay, so
- 27:34Speaker 1: where the.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Deocrats, dearborn come out for Hailey Stevens.
- 27:36Speaker 1: No, I don't think.
- 27:37Speaker 3: I don't think she'll need it as much as Kamala did,
- 27:40Speaker 3: just because of the way that things are this time around.
- 27:43Speaker 3: So it's a very high, very high stakes primary, it
- 27:45Speaker 3: really is. And the the I think the CNN stuff,
- 27:49Speaker 3: the CNN manufacture.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Whatever you want to call it. I'm not alleging anything.
- 27:53Speaker 4: But allowed her to blunt that the most damaging attack.
- 27:57Speaker 3: On sure that I see lately I have and I
- 28:01Speaker 3: say this with like no morality or anything.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I admire the democratic establishments.
- 28:06Speaker 3: What'spa right, because they've taken so many l's recently in
- 28:10Speaker 3: all of these DSA elections, They're like, Okay, we can
- 28:13Speaker 3: no longer run on Israel itself, so what we need
- 28:17Speaker 3: to do is manufacture other is like me too with
- 28:20Speaker 3: Platner here, not manufacturer as in they're paying her or anything.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I'm just saying like they they're certainly using it to
- 28:26Speaker 3: great effect to get him out of the race and
- 28:28Speaker 3: to take over the entire system. And then here they're like, oh, well,
- 28:32Speaker 3: what we do is we get BB to attack her
- 28:35Speaker 3: and then they use that as evidence that she's you know,
- 28:38Speaker 3: middle road or whatever.
- 28:39Speaker 1: On is that that may be enough?
- 28:41Speaker 3: You know, if some for some boomers who are out there,
- 28:43Speaker 3: who are largely it seems to be her constituent.
- 28:46Speaker 4: If you're a boomer watching Abdulla l Side wants to
- 28:48Speaker 4: cut your.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Property, yeah, don't do it, Ryan, don't do it. We're
- 28:52Speaker 3: not we are not stupid to that level. All right,
- 28:55Speaker 3: let's get to property tax, so as Ryan alluded to
- 29:01Speaker 3: in one of the most disappointing, disgusting, craven, repulsive statements
- 29:08Speaker 3: ever uttered by an American politician. Here's Abdul l said,
- 29:13Speaker 3: who clearly wants to win, who says he wants to
- 29:16Speaker 3: freeze senior property taxes.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 29:19Speaker 7: I think we need to be freezing property tax for seniors.
- 29:22Speaker 7: If you paid off your home at some point, we
- 29:24Speaker 7: can't expect you to keep up with property taxes that
- 29:26Speaker 7: are going up.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Now, how do we pay for that?
- 29:28Speaker 7: Well, again, if we tax billionaires their wealth, if we
- 29:30Speaker 7: were to invest in the Department of Education so that
- 29:32Speaker 7: we're paying centrally for public schools in an equitable way,
- 29:35Speaker 7: there are a lot of opportunities for us to lift
- 29:37Speaker 7: the burden office seniors who've done their job, They've worked
- 29:40Speaker 7: extra hard. They deserve a dignified retirement, and we've got
- 29:42Speaker 7: to be thinking about how to offer them.
- 29:44Speaker 3: That they deserve a dignified retirement. They they deserve a
- 29:50Speaker 3: federal bailout of Michigan Michigan schools, and we're just going
- 29:54Speaker 3: to pay for it with these fancy billionaire taxes. And look,
- 29:58Speaker 3: you know, I'm not some guy who's anti wealth tax
- 30:00Speaker 3: or anything. I don't particularly care you screw ultra rich
- 30:03Speaker 3: people whatever. Use it as punitive care, that's all fine.
- 30:07Speaker 3: But ultimately this is about bailing out seniors and a
- 30:11Speaker 3: false premise, which is, if you've paid off your home,
- 30:14Speaker 3: you deserve to live there forever. This is a literal
- 30:17Speaker 3: violation of the American dream, and specifically of the housing
- 30:21Speaker 3: mechanics and the way that it all works, right, because
- 30:24Speaker 3: first of all, it presumes if you've paid off the house,
- 30:26Speaker 3: that means you should no longer have to pay for
- 30:28Speaker 3: any public services whatsoever, from the roads to the police
- 30:31Speaker 3: to the fire department, when we actually know that old
- 30:34Speaker 3: people are disproportionately using them. Also, property tax, the vast
- 30:38Speaker 3: majority of that funding goes to local education. Now, his
- 30:42Speaker 3: presumption here that the federal government should bail out the
- 30:44Speaker 3: state of Michigan and all of their localities actually is
- 30:47Speaker 3: a conservative nightmare. And even if anybody who cares about localities,
- 30:50Speaker 3: it means that the Feds will have near total control
- 30:53Speaker 3: over what you can and can't do in your schools.
- 30:55Speaker 3: One of the best things about America, specifically our education system,
- 30:58Speaker 3: if you want to say, is that if you live somewhere.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Let's say you disagree with something it's happening in your school.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Because you pay in, you actually can change it. You
- 31:08Speaker 3: really can. We saw this with anti woke or even woke.
- 31:11Speaker 3: If you want whatever you want to do, COVID mass
- 31:14Speaker 3: parents actually got mad and in some cases they won.
- 31:16Speaker 3: They beat the system whenever it came to a showdown.
- 31:19Speaker 3: If it's all up to the Feds, you have no
- 31:21Speaker 3: power whatsoever.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And then let's talk about the housing mechanics part, because
- 31:25Speaker 3: this is the part that really bugs me.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And I'll be callous. I don't care because I'm not
- 31:29Speaker 1: a politician.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Which is, if you are a senior and you pay
- 31:33Speaker 3: off your home and then you no longer have to
- 31:36Speaker 3: have any property tax, there is no market incentive to sell,
- 31:40Speaker 3: you will never sell, which means that these neighborhoods will
- 31:44Speaker 3: not turn over.
- 31:46Speaker 1: And you have seniors who.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Occupy the vast majority of the housing stock, who have
- 31:50Speaker 3: no financial pressure whatsoever, who will stay in these new homes,
- 31:53Speaker 3: who will then not turn them over to the next generation.
- 31:57Speaker 3: People say it's unfair because the property tax has gone up.
- 32:00Speaker 3: The tax only goes up if the house value goes
- 32:03Speaker 3: up too, and So if you did not pull yourself
- 32:06Speaker 3: up by your bootstrap maybe and do enough saving over
- 32:10Speaker 3: the course of your life, and you didn't plan for
- 32:13Speaker 3: your property tax, why does that mean you get to
- 32:16Speaker 3: hold a financially appreciable asset, pay nothing to be able
- 32:21Speaker 3: to maintain it, receive all city services, give nothing back
- 32:25Speaker 3: to your community, and hold up all of the housing
- 32:28Speaker 3: stock that there is. This is slopulism, That's what it is.
- 32:32Speaker 3: It's a cynical way to win. Older voters who are
- 32:36Speaker 3: not currently voting or supporting abdulh sayat that's what it's
- 32:39Speaker 3: all about, and the unfortunate, and people are like, oh,
- 32:41Speaker 3: or why do you care so.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Much about this?
- 32:44Speaker 3: It would be funny if it weren't literally sweeping the nation,
- 32:47Speaker 3: which I'll approve to you all. There is now between California, Florida,
- 32:51Speaker 3: which is about to abolish property tax, and Texas, which
- 32:54Speaker 3: has just done the exemption. You will have nearly one
- 32:58Speaker 3: hundred million Americans by this time next year in a
- 33:01Speaker 3: boomer Reich system where they occupy all the housing stock.
- 33:05Speaker 3: They don't pay as much as you or I do
- 33:08Speaker 3: if we own a home for a property tax, and
- 33:10Speaker 3: they are depleting the system meanwhile demanding social security where
- 33:15Speaker 3: they say they have fixed income, which is literally cost
- 33:19Speaker 3: you know, which literally goes up by inflation. When is
- 33:23Speaker 3: the last time we got an inflation adjusted race? If
- 33:26Speaker 3: you're under sixty five, when's the last time you got.
- 33:28Speaker 1: An inflation adjusted race?
- 33:29Speaker 3: In fact, you almost certainly got a decrease because the
- 33:34Speaker 3: wages have not kept up with inflation since nineteen seventy
- 33:36Speaker 3: or whatever. So they get inflation adjusted rays. You get nothing,
- 33:39Speaker 3: and you get less services, and you need to pay
- 33:41Speaker 3: more in taxes. So I'm off my soapbox.
- 33:43Speaker 4: You though, the other thing that elderly homeowners would do
- 33:48Speaker 4: with this property tax abatement, and you could theoretically write in,
- 33:54Speaker 4: write in the legislation to try to preempt this, but
- 33:56Speaker 4: what they would do is move out, go somewhere else,
- 34:00Speaker 4: and then rent this property that they now don't have
- 34:04Speaker 4: to pay property tax on and then just collect the
- 34:06Speaker 4: rental income on it. So what it does is it
- 34:08Speaker 4: takes takes more housing stock off of the market, which
- 34:14Speaker 4: drives up home prices and just makes it harder for
- 34:17Speaker 4: people who don't own a home yet to buy one
- 34:19Speaker 4: because they aren't selling it. Because think about it, if
- 34:23Speaker 4: if you sell it to somebody younger. That younger person
- 34:28Speaker 4: now has to pay property taxes if they wanted to
- 34:30Speaker 4: rent it. The amount of profit that they would make
- 34:33Speaker 4: by renting it is reduced by the amount of property
- 34:35Speaker 4: tax they have. Corre, you don't have to pay the
- 34:37Speaker 4: property tax, so you're incentive then to rent it and
- 34:41Speaker 4: then just go somewhere else and buy another one that
- 34:43Speaker 4: you also don't have to pay property tax on.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Well, they'll they'll, they'll claim all kinds of nonsense, but
- 34:49Speaker 3: primary home and all this to get around this.
- 34:51Speaker 1: But look, even in the primary.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Could and live there for six months because because you're
- 34:55Speaker 4: traveling to the Danube, right.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Because I will say what nobody else wants to, which
- 35:00Speaker 3: sometimes you will have to sell. If your property has
- 35:02Speaker 3: gone up from one hundred and seventy grand to two million,
- 35:05Speaker 3: and you're drowning in property, then sell the home, move
- 35:08Speaker 3: into a million dollar house, take the profit. You can
- 35:10Speaker 3: keep your property tax forever. Oh and by the way,
- 35:13Speaker 3: somebody else can buy that home and maybe the raise
- 35:15Speaker 3: their family in it. You know, the most heartbreaking thing
- 35:17Speaker 3: is in localities across this nation. The neighborhood I grew
- 35:20Speaker 3: up in is a good example.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Full of kids. No longer full of kids.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Why everybody still lives there, right, same people still live there,
- 35:26Speaker 3: kids are grown and gone. Guess what kids? They all
- 35:28Speaker 3: live in another neighborhood. Now, it was a nice neighborhood.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I liked it there. And that's happening across the nation.
- 35:32Speaker 3: You got elementary schools closing because the fertility rate is down,
- 35:35Speaker 3: and because in a lot of the traditional suburbs, nobody
- 35:38Speaker 3: wants to leave. All the rich people, rich boomers are
- 35:40Speaker 3: all staying there. And then people who are in families,
- 35:42Speaker 3: they got nothing. They're either in the rent air class
- 35:44Speaker 3: or they got to go somewhere else and try and
- 35:46Speaker 3: do something. And look, you could say, well, oh that's
- 35:49Speaker 3: just the market reality. And the boomers are always you know,
- 35:51Speaker 3: coming back to me and it's like, well we had
- 35:53Speaker 3: fifteen percent interest rates. I'm like, and the same question
- 35:55Speaker 3: I always ask, what was the wasting? What was the
- 35:57Speaker 3: price income ratio? What was the pricing income ratio? It
- 36:00Speaker 3: is like two or three hundred percent more than it
- 36:02Speaker 3: was even twenty five years ago compared to the current
- 36:05Speaker 3: median home price, and that's four hundred and eighty five
- 36:07Speaker 3: thousand today is the median home price, but that factors
- 36:10Speaker 3: in all of these lower cost of living areas, and
- 36:14Speaker 3: if you were living in a medium or high cost
- 36:16Speaker 3: we talked about San Francisco in our last show.
- 36:18Speaker 1: It's one point seven million.
- 36:19Speaker 3: That's an extreme example, I get it, But in many
- 36:22Speaker 3: higher cost of living areas trying to millions of dollars,
- 36:24Speaker 3: literally millions of dollars. And that's why the average first
- 36:27Speaker 3: time home buyer is anywhere between thirty seven and forty five,
- 36:30Speaker 3: and that the average buyer of a home today is
- 36:33Speaker 3: age fifty, right, is because they're the only people with
- 36:35Speaker 3: the cash to be able to do so. So that's
- 36:38Speaker 3: ultimately what Abdul is trying to set in. Let's put
- 36:40Speaker 3: E two up here on the screen. I took this
- 36:43Speaker 3: from his website and this is again is the worst
- 36:45Speaker 3: possible thing. On his website, he says we will freeze
- 36:49Speaker 3: follow the senior, not the property. The assessment freeze does
- 36:52Speaker 3: not transfer on sale or death. When the home changes hands,
- 36:55Speaker 3: it will reassess it market value. This preserves local tax
- 36:58Speaker 3: based integrity over time, so as I if a senior
- 37:01Speaker 3: sells the property to an under sixty by person, they
- 37:03Speaker 3: will then be hit with a property tax reassessment to
- 37:05Speaker 3: current market value.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Now here's why I.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Think it's sick because this people took this the wrong way, saying, well,
- 37:11Speaker 3: anytime somebody sells a house that they get reassessment market value.
- 37:15Speaker 3: You're right, But the freezing of a property tax means
- 37:19Speaker 3: that there's no appreciation or incentive to sell. This is
- 37:23Speaker 3: what happened with California in proposition thirteen. It is exactly
- 37:27Speaker 3: why California's housing market is as messed up as it
- 37:31Speaker 3: is today. There is no incentive for people who bought
- 37:35Speaker 3: between the nineteen eighties and the nineteen nineties at very
- 37:37Speaker 3: very low values, who have frozen property tax or step
- 37:40Speaker 3: ladder increases, to sell, even though their homes have appreciated
- 37:44Speaker 3: in some cases by two, three, four, five hundred, even
- 37:46Speaker 3: one thousand percent in places like Santa Monica.
- 37:49Speaker 1: So what do you do?
- 37:50Speaker 3: What you'd have to do is it means that the
- 37:53Speaker 3: younger buyer has to have more cash on hand and
- 37:57Speaker 3: budget at a much higher price than the scene who
- 38:00Speaker 3: gets to live there, which locks the housing stock up forever.
- 38:03Speaker 3: It has destroyed the California housing market. Now, this would
- 38:07Speaker 3: be a proposition because Abdul Frankly, he's running for United
- 38:11Speaker 3: States Senate. So he wants to do this nationally, all right.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I mean technically he doesn't have the authority, but somebody
- 38:17Speaker 3: could preempt that type of behavior. And I just want
- 38:20Speaker 3: to show you all what happens when states start doing
- 38:22Speaker 3: this stuff. Let's go to the next one. This is
- 38:23Speaker 3: from Florida. It just happened yesterday, all right, So Tampa,
- 38:27Speaker 3: the city of Tampa.
- 38:29Speaker 1: How many years.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Now you and I have been hearing? Oh, all these
- 38:32Speaker 3: families are moving to Florida. It's such a great place
- 38:35Speaker 3: to live. It's cheap, and they don't have to wear masks,
- 38:37Speaker 3: and you have all this freedom. Well here's part of
- 38:39Speaker 3: the freedom they're about to have. So in Florida, counties
- 38:42Speaker 3: are now preparing for the total elimination of property tax
- 38:45Speaker 3: or a phase reduction. Hillsborough County, that's where Tampa is.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Here's what they write. A lengthy list of possible responses
- 38:51Speaker 3: to the elimination will include eliminating or reducing county services
- 38:56Speaker 3: like parks and aging services, closing underused facilities, and increasing
- 39:01Speaker 3: or adding new assessments such as higher fuel tax and
- 39:04Speaker 3: more park fees. So that means, Ryan, you got four kids,
- 39:08Speaker 3: I assume you live at that park, because right, it's
- 39:12Speaker 3: easy's free take them there if you let them run around,
- 39:15Speaker 3: burn some energy. Kids just started walking. So this is
- 39:17Speaker 3: we're in that phase right now. Now every time you
- 39:20Speaker 3: go though, pay up. You gotta pay. Say sorry, because
- 39:23Speaker 3: these boomers over here, they don't want to pay property tax.
- 39:26Speaker 3: You when you take your kid to the park, you
- 39:28Speaker 3: gotta pay all right, fuel tax. You want to go
- 39:30Speaker 3: somewhere to take your kid to the park, Sorry, it's
- 39:32Speaker 3: gonna cost you.
- 39:33Speaker 1: All right.
- 39:34Speaker 3: There's toll roads everywhere in Florida. So this is what happens.
- 39:37Speaker 3: You got no income tax, you've got no property tax.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Now where's the money going to come from. It's going
- 39:41Speaker 3: to come from somewhere. The disney the Disney crew search
- 39:44Speaker 3: charge can be about to be five hundred dollars for
- 39:46Speaker 3: every person who comes out of state and the people
- 39:49Speaker 3: who live there.
- 39:49Speaker 1: It's going to be hell.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Should the fuel tax not apply to elderly people too?
- 39:54Speaker 3: Sure?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Why not?
- 39:55Speaker 3: Right? Oh?
- 39:55Speaker 1: They drive less, so why oh they don't use it?
- 39:57Speaker 1: All right?
- 39:57Speaker 3: So this is what leads to this type of logic
- 40:00Speaker 3: where elder people when they were young to pay.
- 40:03Speaker 4: To pay a different tax rate based on your age
- 40:06Speaker 4: is crazy. Yes, Also for the age cohort that has
- 40:11Speaker 4: more wealth to pay less tax, I know than the
- 40:15Speaker 4: age cohort that has less wealth is completely insane. Right.
- 40:20Speaker 4: The whole idea of treating people differently based on their
- 40:23Speaker 4: ages on American it's maybe on constitutional like what about
- 40:25Speaker 4: equal protection?
- 40:26Speaker 1: And like, of course, what you think they're gonna they're anyone?
- 40:29Speaker 1: How can we even challenge it?
- 40:30Speaker 3: And this person to show you about the slopulism point,
- 40:34Speaker 3: you can't even conceive how popular these things are if
- 40:39Speaker 3: you were to tell the two areas. I get the
- 40:40Speaker 3: most hate on weed and this actually maybe more energy
- 40:44Speaker 3: about this. I've received actual death threats over weed, but
- 40:46Speaker 3: I'm waiting for my real death threats that are coming
- 40:49Speaker 3: from just saying, hey, we shouldn't have unequal tax codes
- 40:53Speaker 3: based on age.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Let's put E four up here. Take a look at
- 40:56Speaker 1: the polling. This just happened yesterday.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Two thirds a Florida vote support the property tax of course,
- 41:02Speaker 3: two thirds. So you got the old with this old state,
- 41:05Speaker 3: you know, uh, And they're all like, yeah, why not?
- 41:08Speaker 3: Why should we have to pay? Screw them? I don't
- 41:10Speaker 3: use the park anyways. Not my bid business, not my
- 41:12Speaker 3: problem schools. My kids are grown, doesn't matter. Who cares
- 41:16Speaker 3: about the next generation or my grandkids, doesn't matter. That's
- 41:20Speaker 3: how selfish they are the people who support these types
- 41:22Speaker 3: of things, And that's that's why Abdel is doing this,
- 41:26Speaker 3: and that's why it's sickening, because you know, guys like
- 41:29Speaker 3: him there, they talks a big game about principles and
- 41:31Speaker 3: all that, and I'm sure you know, take a lot
- 41:33Speaker 3: of hits, but like, ultimately they're politicians. He looks his
- 41:36Speaker 3: poll numbers, he wants to win, and this is overwhelmingly popular.
- 41:41Speaker 3: And just in preparing for this segment, I found four
- 41:44Speaker 3: different state and localities, actually five, another one this morning,
- 41:48Speaker 3: E five.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Let's put it up here. This from Boston.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Okay, Michelle Wu, who is supposedly some lefty great person mehir.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Michelle Wu signs city order to expand property relief for
- 42:00Speaker 3: older homeowners. Okay, so to provide relief for these older homeowners.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Let's go to the next one. What do we find Indiana?
- 42:08Speaker 3: Indiana Governor Brown eyes property tax breaks for seniors and
- 42:13Speaker 3: assessment changes. Quote, once you get to sixty five, maybe
- 42:17Speaker 3: you ought to have some relief from your own government
- 42:19Speaker 3: to not have property taxes after that, he said, So
- 42:22Speaker 3: I'll be looking for enterprising legislators to see if they're
- 42:25Speaker 3: hearing that too. The other thing I hear is, once
- 42:27Speaker 3: you've paid off your mortgage, why should you then have
- 42:30Speaker 3: a fixed cost Generally that's going to be later in life.
- 42:33Speaker 3: With a twenty five to thirty year mortgage, you'll be
- 42:35Speaker 3: approaching retirement. He says he doesn't want to starve local
- 42:38Speaker 3: units of government, but said that those expenses shouldn't rise
- 42:41Speaker 3: beyond what taxpayers can afford, and we could make up
- 42:43Speaker 3: the revenue elsewhere. Let's go to the next one, shall we.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Pennsylvania Democrats all right, Pennsylvania House It votes to funded
- 42:51Speaker 3: property tax cuts for seniors by levying targeting big tech companies. Now,
- 42:56Speaker 3: I don't care about big tech companies. That's totally fine.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Tax them, I don't give a shit. But what does
- 43:00Speaker 3: this mean is you have a property tax cut. They
- 43:04Speaker 3: will take that revenue and only make up for the
- 43:07Speaker 3: property tax of seniors, not for any of the other
- 43:10Speaker 3: younger home buyers. And that's that's you know, right now,
- 43:13Speaker 3: I'm just fighting for parody. But if I were really fighting,
- 43:16Speaker 3: what would I say. Let's say the people who got
- 43:18Speaker 3: the money bought the property tes for the first time,
- 43:20Speaker 3: for the first time home buyer will even means tested.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I don't care, all right, you know that's fine.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Of the three things, by the way that I just read,
- 43:27Speaker 3: only one of those was means tested for lower income seniors,
- 43:31Speaker 3: which is Boston. Even then, I'm against it just because, yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 3: I think it's unfair. It's like, why do you what
- 43:37Speaker 3: lowering lower income single mom doesn't get a break, the
- 43:40Speaker 3: lower income senior gets a break. Which one do you
- 43:43Speaker 3: think needs more of a break? If it is binary?
- 43:45Speaker 3: Ultimately because of the government. I mean, you can google
- 43:47Speaker 3: in even these states. Indiana, what have they done for
- 43:50Speaker 3: a young family in the last three months?
- 43:52Speaker 1: Nothing?
- 43:53Speaker 3: Pennsylvania, same thing. What find me find find me something
- 43:56Speaker 3: and I will read it here on the show all
- 43:58Speaker 3: the energy and then find eight let's put it up
- 44:01Speaker 3: here Republicans. So this is bipartisan Ohio law machers approved
- 44:04Speaker 3: three hundred and fifty million in property tax relief for seniors.
- 44:09Speaker 3: So it's because they vote at the end of the day,
- 44:11Speaker 3: and that's what.
- 44:12Speaker 1: It's all about.
- 44:12Speaker 4: It's not just that they vote. It is definitely that
- 44:15Speaker 4: they vote. It's also a function of the population declined absolutely.
- 44:18Speaker 4: The number, like the number of people graduating high school
- 44:22Speaker 4: is now, has declined the last couple of years. And
- 44:26Speaker 4: this is something we can project with certainty basically with
- 44:30Speaker 4: immigration being the only variable, because we know who was
- 44:33Speaker 4: born eighteen years ago and who wasn't, and the population
- 44:37Speaker 4: and the birth rate are going down, and as a result,
- 44:40Speaker 4: the young people in the voter pool, who participate at
- 44:43Speaker 4: a much lower rate anyway, are much fewer to begin
- 44:47Speaker 4: with relative to the biggest generation. Now, the boomers are
- 44:51Speaker 4: not going to be here forever, but they're going to
- 44:53Speaker 4: be here for a long time, right.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Last one, I just I literally found this one this
- 44:56Speaker 3: morning because a friend of mine overnight texted me this.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Let's put it up here on the screen.
- 45:00Speaker 3: One of the leading candidates for governor in South Dakota
- 45:03Speaker 3: name is Toby Dodin. He says, space, it's out property tax.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Guess what, South Dakota. They don't even have an income tax,
- 45:09Speaker 3: just like Florida, who's gonna pay Where's the money coming from?
- 45:13Speaker 1: It's outa sales tax. They have a low sales tax.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Alrighty, yeah, where's it gonna.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Come from from?
- 45:18Speaker 3: The people who drive through the state, who go to
- 45:20Speaker 3: Mount Rushmore. I mean, where is the money.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Driving your soybeans on dirt roads?
- 45:25Speaker 1: Right exactly.
- 45:26Speaker 3: It's like so you read through and you're like, oh, okay,
- 45:28Speaker 3: so how's he gonna make up? And he said, oh,
- 45:30Speaker 3: maybe we'll do a luxury a luxury goods tax.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I'm fine with me.
- 45:35Speaker 3: But ultimately what they write, because the South Dakota papers,
- 45:38Speaker 3: you know, went through their proposal, it's.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Not gonna make up the one point eight billion.
- 45:41Speaker 4: So where's a lot of luxury goods being purchased in
- 45:43Speaker 4: South Dakota.
- 45:44Speaker 1: It turns out no offense South Dakota, you know, no offense? What'so.
- 45:46Speaker 1: It's a beautiful state.
- 45:47Speaker 3: But it's like, you know, even in these states, and
- 45:50Speaker 3: this is what I mean when it's sweeping the nation.
- 45:52Speaker 3: You got Florida, Texas, California, literally three out of the
- 45:56Speaker 3: four most populous states.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I'm sure New York I haven't checked.
- 45:59Speaker 3: I'm sure they have some a BS exemption that already here,
- 46:02Speaker 3: which is.
- 46:03Speaker 1: On the books.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Now you've got the senator potential from Michigan who wants
- 46:08Speaker 3: to enact this nationally.
- 46:09Speaker 1: We're talking about trillions.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Of dollars in bailouts, if that were to become the
- 46:13Speaker 3: policy of the United States or even the smaller states.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Now they're like, oh, let's hop on the bandwagon. Vivig
- 46:19Speaker 3: Ramaswami Ohio. Guess what he picked it up. Yeah, let's
- 46:22Speaker 3: pay no, let's pay no sales tap everybody wants to
- 46:24Speaker 3: Why not win win win, as in win for the boomers,
- 46:28Speaker 3: win for the politician.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sickening.
- 46:31Speaker 3: And you know, last thing, last thing is I said,
- 46:33Speaker 3: I don't even have this one here in the show,
- 46:35Speaker 3: but I read this Wall Street Journal story last night,
- 46:37Speaker 3: and it was about schools, and as you just said,
- 46:39Speaker 3: with population decline and fertility rate, he got all these
- 46:42Speaker 3: schools were just rotting. Now nobody's even using them, so
- 46:45Speaker 3: they're now converting them into luxury senior housing.
- 46:50Speaker 1: That's a monument. People say, don't you want them to move?
- 46:53Speaker 3: Yes, you're right, Thank you for moving and for going
- 46:55Speaker 3: to see your housing. You're right, But is that not
- 46:57Speaker 3: emblematic of the problem that we have.
- 47:00Speaker 1: This is Japan.
- 47:01Speaker 3: This is what it's all going to look like twenty
- 47:03Speaker 3: thirty years from now. You know, the whole economy is
- 47:05Speaker 3: going to be like this in terms of healthcare and
- 47:07Speaker 3: aging services. We're already getting there, but twenty thirty years
- 47:10Speaker 3: from now, that's what the whole thing is going to
- 47:12Speaker 3: look like.
- 47:12Speaker 4: My elementary school shout out to Warton Elementary School in
- 47:15Speaker 4: Kent County is not a luxury condo yet, but it
- 47:19Speaker 4: is shut down. They wouldn't be able to sell luxury
- 47:21Speaker 4: condos there. My middle school was called Chestertown Middle School.
- 47:25Speaker 4: It is now called Kent County Middle School. In other words,
- 47:29Speaker 4: it is the only middle school in the entire county.
- 47:34Speaker 4: My high school was called Kent County High School. It
- 47:36Speaker 4: still exists. It's like half the population that it was before.
- 47:41Speaker 4: And people say, seniors will say, well, we don't use
- 47:43Speaker 4: the schools. You rely on the people who go to
- 47:47Speaker 4: school to wait on you at the restaurants, to mow
- 47:52Speaker 4: your lawn, you know. To as for home health aids,
- 47:59Speaker 4: society produced.
- 48:00Speaker 3: We live in a society. We live in a society period.
- 48:03Speaker 3: It's like the mean, yes, you have to pay for
- 48:05Speaker 3: the next generation. People are always like, oh, just because
- 48:07Speaker 3: you had a kid and you want money now from
- 48:09Speaker 3: the government, you exempt me. Put me in the legislation.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I will get nothing. I don't want anything. It's rough people,
- 48:15Speaker 3: you know, it's just I just checked College Hill's elementary
- 48:18Speaker 3: shout out in College Station.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Looks like it's still going.
- 48:20Speaker 3: So there we go.
- 48:20Speaker 1: All right, we got we got something.
- 48:22Speaker 3: But Texas one of the few places you can probably
- 48:24Speaker 3: buy a home because it's cheap, or at least or
- 48:26Speaker 3: cheaper than it's overall nationally. It's sad, man, it really
- 48:30Speaker 3: is sad, and it's sweeping the country, and you're just
- 48:33Speaker 3: going to see more and more and more. This just
- 48:34Speaker 3: shows you five examples literally from across the political spectrum,
- 48:38Speaker 3: six actually, including Abdul l Sayad.
- 48:40Speaker 1: And it's just going.
- 48:41Speaker 3: It will continue to sweep this. I predict twenty twenty
- 48:45Speaker 3: eight you will see mass freezing and or elimination of
- 48:49Speaker 3: property tax in I'm gonna call half the states of
- 48:52Speaker 3: the youth, half the states in the Union, and probably
- 48:55Speaker 3: the two thirds of the US population in the next
- 48:57Speaker 3: five years.
- 48:58Speaker 4: As a politician, as you say no to this, you're dead.
- 49:00Speaker 4: Your opponent's gonna be like, well, I'm gonna cut your
- 49:02Speaker 4: property text exactly if peop were like, all right, well,
- 49:04Speaker 4: good sweet, You're not gonna do anything else, so at
- 49:07Speaker 4: least I'll take that.
- 49:08Speaker 3: It only works if we all fight back all right,
- 49:10Speaker 3: thank you very much for having me, Ryan, It's been
- 49:12Speaker 3: a lot of fun.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Bro Show. Crystal'll be back next week, and.
- 49:15Speaker 4: We'll be back as well.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Well, we'll be back everything only restored.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Very convenient that they all traveled this week, Isn't that's right?
- 49:22Speaker 3: Sticking us with the platinum situation. It's okay, that's fine.
- 49:25Speaker 3: I stuck them with I'm sure if something bad happened
- 49:26Speaker 3: whenever I was gone as well. All right, we will
- 49:29Speaker 3: see you guys tomorrow Friday Show.
- 49:31Speaker 1: See then,
