- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, the president flies to Texas today. He'll spend two
- 0:06Speaker 1: days in Houston, Texas. There's some sort of big RNC
- 0:11Speaker 1: something tonight. It's for the midterm elections. They're calling it
- 0:15Speaker 1: the RNC engagement. It's like a little mini convention where
- 0:19Speaker 1: they'll all get together and discuss midterm strategy or maybe
- 0:25Speaker 1: think about actually getting some midterm strategy for once. The
- 0:29Speaker 1: They do have a problem with messaging and all that.
- 0:32Speaker 1: So hopefully figure that out today. Remember, it's early. It's
- 0:36Speaker 1: still August. It's really after Labor Day. People start focusing
- 0:39Speaker 1: on campaigns and on elections. So the president will spend
- 0:42Speaker 1: the night in Texas, this RNC stuff today, tonight, and
- 0:46Speaker 1: then tomorrow he goes to NASA to honor the astronauts.
- 0:51Speaker 1: In fact, he'll be awarding some medals of freedom and
- 0:55Speaker 1: that sort of stuff there. Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-
- 0:58Speaker 1: 3-2-1-0-7-10 is the number. We've got listeners all over the country,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and let's say hello to a few. Let's go to
- 1:06Speaker 1: Dave in Chicago. Dave, how are you doing? Good morning, Mark.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'm doing very well, thank you. Mark, I'm not sure
- 1:13Speaker 2: if this is known or not, but Dolly Parton's last
- 1:16Speaker 2: song called My Place in History will not be released
- 1:19Speaker 2: until what would have been her 100th birthday. Now, to
- 1:24Speaker 2: add context to this, The remaining Beatles released Free as
- 1:28Speaker 2: a Bird back in 1995, which was a John Lennon
- 1:32Speaker 2: recording demo that he did back in 1977.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's interesting. We have actually Dolly Parton talking
- 1:41Speaker 1: about the song, Dave. It's a good point. You know,
- 1:43Speaker 1: a lot of times, many years later, they release the
- 1:48Speaker 1: unreleased song or the missing song from the album or
- 1:52Speaker 1: the never-heard-before unreleased... The reason it's unreleased and the reason
- 1:58Speaker 1: it was missing from the album, it wasn't that good.
- 2:01Speaker 1: If they were making an album and one thing sounded great,
- 2:05Speaker 1: that'd be the first thing on the album. When there's
- 2:07Speaker 1: something that was not on the album, it wasn't that great.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But there is a secret Dolly Parton song. Well, here
- 2:15Speaker 1: she is. I'll let her explain it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: You have a secret song locked away in Dollywood that
- 2:20Speaker 2: will be released in 2045.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That's the truth.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Uh, no, seriously, when we, uh, we do a lot
- 2:27Speaker 3: of things at Dollywood and one year.
- 2:29Speaker 4: We thought about that. They asked me if I would
- 2:31Speaker 4: write a song that nobody would ever hear. I'll be dead.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Gone.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Well, it might not be cause I'll be 99. You
- 2:38Speaker 4: know me.
- 2:39Speaker 6: I might still be hopping.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But, uh, she was a very smart woman. We'll, we'll
- 2:49Speaker 1: get back to, uh, To Dolly Parton. Let's go to
- 2:52Speaker 1: Jack in Connecticut. Jack, how you doing?
- 2:56Speaker 6: Mark, hey. Long-time listener, first-time caller. I'm a big fan.
- 3:00Speaker 6: I don't know if you might have mentioned this. I
- 3:04Speaker 6: don't get to listen to every minute of your show.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Why not? What the hell are you doing? You mean
- 3:08Speaker 1: you have other things to do?
- 3:11Speaker 6: I do try to catch up on the iHeart podcast.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Don't worry. I don't listen to every minute of the
- 3:17Speaker 1: show either. But go ahead.
- 3:19Speaker 6: My father, God rest his soul, was a longtime listener.
- 3:22Speaker 6: He got me into you. I'll be quick.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I just wanted to make a quick point. So I
- 3:26Speaker 3: don't know if you might have mentioned this, but we
- 3:30Speaker 3: all love Dolly, obviously. But coincidentally, Tim Curry also passed
- 3:35Speaker 3: away on the same day.
- 3:36Speaker 1: You don't know how upset I am. I'm such an
- 3:40Speaker 1: admirer of his.
- 3:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I know. He's not Dolly, but.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'm kidding. I'm kidding. We did talk about... First 10 minutes,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think we talked about Tim Curry. I'm not a fan.
- 3:54Speaker 1: He was a nice guy. I mean, I met him
- 3:56Speaker 1: a few times, but would you explain the magic of
- 3:59Speaker 1: Tim Curry, what it was? Well... Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Compared to Dolly, there's no comparison, but, you know, Rocky Horror,
- 4:11Speaker 3: it had a lot of fans. I.
- 4:13Speaker 6: I thought it was interesting.
- 4:16Speaker 1: To go see Rocky Horror at 3 in the morning,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you had to really be drugged up. Yeah, I think
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Thanks, Mark. Okay, thanks for
- 4:24Speaker 1: calling in. Listen, it was a cult, that Rocky Horror stuff.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean, there were people that, remember they would see
- 4:31Speaker 1: it over and over? They would see it like 50 times?
- 4:35Speaker 1: But again, they were all drugged up. They weren't even
- 4:38Speaker 1: seeing it when they were there. Let's go to Joseph
- 4:40Speaker 1: in Manhattan. Joseph, how are you doing?
- 4:44Speaker 4: Okay, Mark.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Dolly Parton.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Dolly Parton, the real inflation.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Even Vincent from Brooklyn wanted to hit on them.
- 4:54Speaker 6: And Johnny Carson on his Tonight Show.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I remember we played it yesterday on the show.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 4: And Johnny Carson.
- 5:03Speaker 1: All right. I want you to do me a favor.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I want you to go take a cold shower right
- 5:07Speaker 1: now and calm yourself down. You're getting a little too
- 5:09Speaker 1: excited here.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Cowabunga.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
- 5:13Speaker 6: Great show as always, Mark.
- 5:14Speaker 1: This guy definitely owns a raincoat, I can tell. Let's
- 5:16Speaker 1: go to Max in Manhattan. Max, how are you doing?
- 5:20Speaker 4: Mark, thank you for taking my call. In August 6th
- 5:26Speaker 4: of this year, Hochul signed into effect that if you're
- 5:31Speaker 4: in a hospital and for whatever reason the doctors decide
- 5:35Speaker 4: that they want to off you and get rid of you,
- 5:37Speaker 4: I'll send a nurse in there in the middle of
- 5:39Speaker 4: the night and give you an injection without your family's
- 5:42Speaker 4: approval or your approval. And it's called MAID, M-A-I-D.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, no, he's not kidding. There is such a thing.
- 5:49Speaker 1: This is the crazy legislature we have now and crazy
- 5:52Speaker 1: Kathy Hochul. And they're like, it's a Dr. Kevorkian type medicine.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Kevorkian times 20.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's actually much worse. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: people went to Kevorkian voluntarily. And, uh, boy, uh, I
- 6:10Speaker 1: don't know what she's up to or the legislature's up to,
- 6:12Speaker 1: but a lot of times, uh, you know, they remember
- 6:15Speaker 1: that Dr. Kevorkian, if you were really sick, if you
- 6:17Speaker 1: were in so much pain, if there was no hope,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you could go to him and it was assisted suicide.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And remember the rebellion against him? Remember 60 minutes had
- 6:26Speaker 1: him on the air and they tore him apart. And they,
- 6:29Speaker 1: there was such rebellion against how this was the most
- 6:31Speaker 1: evil man on earth. And this is a, But through
- 6:34Speaker 1: the years, things have changed a little, especially now that
- 6:37Speaker 1: there's these big hospital systems. You know, it's like five
- 6:40Speaker 1: hospital systems can control everything. And they're run by bean counters. And,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you know, they're starting to realize, you know, if they
- 6:49Speaker 1: do get rid of some of these patients, it would
- 6:50Speaker 1: save ourselves a fortune, a lot of money. So it's coming.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Whatever Democrats thought 30 years ago, they never think that now.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Like Bill Clinton, if he tried to run now. Would
- 7:04Speaker 1: have to run as a Republican. John F. Kennedy, we
- 7:08Speaker 1: talked about this yesterday. You know, they want Trump's name
- 7:11Speaker 1: off the Kennedy Center. But the Democrats today, if they
- 7:13Speaker 1: knew what Kennedy stood for, they'd want his name off
- 7:16Speaker 1: the building. Kennedy was anti-abortion. Very, very, very hawkish. Military
- 7:22Speaker 1: escalation in Vietnam. He was a tax cutter. Oh, if
- 7:25Speaker 1: they knew about the real Kennedy, not to mention all
- 7:28Speaker 1: the womanizing. But anyway, so let's go to Martin in Miami. Martin,
- 7:32Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 7:34Speaker 4: Good.
- 7:34Speaker 5: How are you doing?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Good.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Listen, two things. I was wondering, this Pieta Terra tax,
- 7:40Speaker 5: is this just a way for the government to tax
- 7:46Speaker 5: these guys, these people, these billionaires that live in New
- 7:48Speaker 5: York City for less than 182 days?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Was that ever brought up? Well, it just sounds good.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Go after the rich, annoy the rich. You live in Miami?
- 7:57Speaker 1: You don't have a place back here.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Do you?
- 8:00Speaker 5: No, no, I don't.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So you're saying.
- 8:01Speaker 5: No, but I was just thinking that, you know, I've
- 8:03Speaker 5: heard all these stories about how they've got people tracking
- 8:06Speaker 5: these billionaires so that they can.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Well, that's a different.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a different thing. That's the tax department, state
- 8:11Speaker 1: tax department. They do carefully track everybody. You know, if
- 8:15Speaker 1: you move to Miami, you move to Florida or wherever
- 8:19Speaker 1: you move, and you say, that's it, I'm no longer
- 8:21Speaker 1: a resident of New York. You're only allowed back here
- 8:23Speaker 1: like 180 days or something. But they track you like crazy.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And everybody thinks that they can fool these tax people
- 8:32Speaker 1: that are looking to get your money. You can't. They're
- 8:34Speaker 1: checking your cell phone GPS to see exactly where you were.
- 8:38Speaker 1: And there's a whole list of like 200 things you
- 8:41Speaker 1: have to do to claim you're a Florida resident. You've
- 8:44Speaker 1: got to have all your primary doctors there. If you
- 8:46Speaker 1: come to New York, you can only see a specialist.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You have to have all sorts of things moved down there. Now,
- 8:52Speaker 1: the pied-à-terre tax, that's just to go after the rich.
- 8:54Speaker 1: It sounds good. Look how we're. You remember they did
- 8:57Speaker 1: this about 15 years ago. They did the same thing
- 9:00Speaker 1: with the private jet tax. We're going to tax every
- 9:03Speaker 1: private jet owner. It sounded great. Until they figured out
- 9:07Speaker 1: there's only about 75 people that have a private jet.
- 9:10Speaker 1: It didn't raise any money. It doesn't do anything. Same
- 9:12Speaker 1: thing with the pied-à-terre tax, which you'll never see it.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It'll never happen. Because they started out with $ 100, 000, then
- 9:18Speaker 1: it was $ 17, 000. Now it looks like it's $ 2, 000. It's
- 9:20Speaker 1: not going to be enough to mean anything. Hey, I'm
- 9:23Speaker 1: here 9 to noon every day. That's our new time,
- 9:26Speaker 1: 9 to noon. And then at noon, you got Buck
- 9:29Speaker 1: and Clay with a great show. Then you got the
- 9:31Speaker 1: most listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity at 3,
- 9:35Speaker 1: Jesse Kelly at 6, the very funny Jimmy Fela. He'll
- 9:38Speaker 1: be with us later today in the third hour right
- 9:41Speaker 1: here on 710WOR.
