- 0:01Speaker 1: Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Romans 12.21 Heavenly Father, you call us to forgive as
- 0:16Speaker 1: you have forgiven us. We ask that you would give
- 0:20Speaker 1: us your strength in wisdom. as we strive to overcome
- 0:25Speaker 1: evil with good. As our enemy schemes against us, help
- 0:31Speaker 1: us to realize that the power of kindness is far
- 0:35Speaker 1: greater than any hatred or violence they may bring. Help
- 0:41Speaker 1: us to extend our hands in peace and friendship, even
- 0:46Speaker 1: when the world wants us to retaliate. As we persevere
- 0:51Speaker 1: through these times, may your love fill us with courage,
- 0:56Speaker 1: enable us to move forward with the spirit of grace, forgiveness,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and understanding. May we be inspired by your example as
- 1:06Speaker 1: we seek to do good and show mercy instead of
- 1:11Speaker 1: returning evil for evil. In the name of Jesus Christ,
- 1:17Speaker 1: we pray.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Amen.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Thank you for joining me in prayer. Stay tuned for
- 1:23Speaker 3: today's free podcast, Meditative Prayers with Zach Clinton, where you
- 1:28Speaker 3: can draw close to God and find strength in Him.
- 1:34Speaker 2: My friends, welcome to your meditative prayer on deep forgiveness.
- 1:38Speaker 2: To get the most out of your spiritual journey, use
- 1:40Speaker 2: Pray.com every day and make prayer a priority in your life. Again,
- 1:44Speaker 2: our goal for today's meditative prayer is all about deep forgiveness.
- 1:48Speaker 2: So right now, just take a minute to gather your
- 1:51Speaker 2: thoughts and quiet your spirit. Maybe accommodate yourself into a
- 1:56Speaker 2: comfortable position. Close your eyes and breathe easy. Now fix
- 2:05Speaker 2: your attention on God and turn your heart towards what
- 2:08Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit wants to impart to you this day.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Today we'll be meditating on Romans 12, verse 21 from
- 2:15Speaker 2: the King James Version. Be not overcome of evil... but
- 2:20Speaker 2: overcome evil with good. My friends, take some time now
- 2:26Speaker 2: just to adore God for his goodness. God, I look
- 2:30Speaker 2: to the cross and praise you for your love is
- 2:33Speaker 2: so great. I praise you for sending your son to
- 2:36Speaker 2: sacrifice himself for me. By your goodness and the strength
- 2:40Speaker 2: of your power, you have redeemed me. You do not
- 2:44Speaker 2: hide yourself from me and you give your goodness without measure.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I sing your praises. For you overcame evil and defeated
- 2:52Speaker 2: the grave. I worship you, for your loving kindness has
- 2:57Speaker 2: restored my soul. Do not let evil win. Evil has
- 3:02Speaker 2: many faces and wears many guises, but none more prevalent
- 3:06Speaker 2: than hurt and hate. Evil feeds and thrives off of
- 3:11Speaker 2: discord and anger, bitterness and unwillingness to forgive. Fighting against
- 3:16Speaker 2: evil will be hard, but it must be done. It
- 3:20Speaker 2: is true that human nature predisposes us to demand recompense
- 3:24Speaker 2: for an offense, to pay back hurt and the wrong
- 3:28Speaker 2: done against us in an even greater measure. However, this
- 3:32Speaker 2: mentality is self-destructive and utterly contradictive to what God teaches.
- 3:48Speaker 2: When someone wrongs you and you respond in kind, you
- 3:53Speaker 2: are not getting vengeance or getting even. You are merely
- 3:56Speaker 2: giving into evil itself. For you cannot defeat evil with evil. So,
- 4:02Speaker 2: do not let the evil that was done to you
- 4:04Speaker 2: control you into doing evil yourself. Instead, stand your ground
- 4:09Speaker 2: in the truth of God's goodness and fight the real enemy.
- 4:13Speaker 2: At times, this will seem impossible as evil can be tempting.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You will war with yourself and struggle with your flesh
- 4:21Speaker 2: to submit to God's law. But you must not give in.
- 4:25Speaker 2: You must persevere in mercy and in grace. The battle
- 4:29Speaker 2: against evil, both internal and external, will be fierce and brutal.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But you must stand your ground for victory is attainable.
- 4:37Speaker 2: The secret to success is simple. Overcome evil with good.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Do not allow the actions and words of others to
- 4:44Speaker 2: dictate your own, to coerce you into embracing evil. Do
- 4:49Speaker 2: not let the monstrosity of others turn into a monster yourself.
- 4:54Speaker 2: This is your chance to come before God and to
- 4:58Speaker 2: confess your failures and your mistakes. To tell the Holy
- 5:02Speaker 2: Spirit of the areas that you may be struggling with
- 5:05Speaker 2: in your fight against evil. And right now as we
- 5:11Speaker 2: make the transition, let's take a moment to simply dwell
- 5:13Speaker 2: on the goodness of God. Think of how Jesus chose
- 5:17Speaker 2: to oppose evil with goodness. how He poured out unrelenting mercy,
- 5:21Speaker 2: unconditional grace, and forgiveness at the cross. Thank Him for
- 5:25Speaker 2: His opposition toward evil demonstrated in His compassion for you,
- 5:30Speaker 2: for sacrificing who He was to restore you to whom
- 5:33Speaker 2: you were called to be. Thank Jesus for loving you
- 5:36Speaker 2: unconditionally in the past, and thank Him that His love
- 5:40Speaker 2: will never change. Give thanks to God for His victory
- 5:44Speaker 2: over evil that enables your own. My friends, God is
- 5:48Speaker 2: present and he is listening to you. Jesus is intimately
- 5:52Speaker 2: acquainted with the war being waged against evil. He is
- 5:56Speaker 2: aware of the struggle and difficulty associated with fighting the
- 6:00Speaker 2: good fight. However, he overcame the world. As Jesus overcame,
- 6:06Speaker 2: you will too. You are not alone. Ask the Holy
- 6:10Speaker 2: Spirit to help you submit your whole heart to obeying Christ.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Ask Him to empower you with conviction and determination to
- 6:17Speaker 2: live as Christ lived, to love as Christ loved, and
- 6:21Speaker 2: to forgive as He does, to destroy evil with goodness
- 6:25Speaker 2: as He did. Remember, you have a choice in how
- 6:28Speaker 2: you react to evil. Do not let evil defeat you. Instead,
- 6:34Speaker 2: defeat evil by doing good. God has called you to
- 6:37Speaker 2: a victorious life filled with His love, His grace, and
- 6:40Speaker 2: His goodness. Never forget the intensity and the depth in
- 6:45Speaker 2: which you are loved by the Father. God's love is strength,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and with it you can overcome any manner of evil.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So be encouraged by this truth and choose this day
- 6:58Speaker 2: to overcome all evil before you with the goodness found
- 7:03Speaker 2: in God's grace. So be encouraged by this truth and
- 7:07Speaker 2: choose this day to overcome all evil before you with
- 7:11Speaker 2: the goodness that can only be found in God's grace.
- 7:17Speaker 2: My friends, thank you for completing today's meditative prayer on Pray.com.
