- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we got you. You didn't get off, get out.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We know the drill.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Appreciate it.
- 0:05Speaker 4: Okay, First off, I don't know if this is breaking news.
- 0:09Speaker 4: The Detroit Lions are now a cool football team. It's
- 0:12Speaker 4: now cool. It's now cool to be a Lions fan.
- 0:14Speaker 4: It's cool to be in the in Michigan and being like, yo,
- 0:16Speaker 4: we have the best college football program all the time,
- 0:18Speaker 4: thirty minutes away from Detroit, and now we possibly have
- 0:21Speaker 4: Super Bowl champions in twenty twenty four But I feel
- 0:23Speaker 4: like you and I are very similar when it comes
- 0:25Speaker 4: to the draft. I'll take you back to twenty fourteen.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Lions were picking at number ten. I went to the
- 0:29Speaker 4: University of Michigan. I was sitting there, I saying to myself,
- 0:31Speaker 4: for the love of God, please Lions do not pick me.
- 0:34Speaker 4: I do not want to go to this horrendous franchise.
- 0:37Speaker 4: No disrespect because I just said we're cool. Now, I
- 0:40Speaker 4: just said we're cool, So it's all good. I have
- 0:43Speaker 4: some intel saying that you felt very similar in those
- 0:45Speaker 4: situations and now you're part of a cool franchise.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Has a feel No, not similar at all, to be honest.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Let's just get that out the way. I mean it's
- 0:55Speaker 3: a lot different than when you were going in the draft,
- 0:57Speaker 3: you know.
- 0:57Speaker 5: I mean you didn't have Campbell, you didn't have homes. So, uh,
- 1:02Speaker 5: when I got drafted, I was really just happy. I mean,
- 1:04Speaker 5: to be honest, I thought I was gonna go earlier.
- 1:07Speaker 5: So once I just went past five, I was kind
- 1:10Speaker 5: of like, all right, wherever I goes I meant to be.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I got picked here, and uh, I think it's the
- 1:16Speaker 3: best decision of my life.
- 1:17Speaker 2: To be honest, where'd you think you were gonna go?
- 1:20Speaker 3: I think I was gonna go to Cincinnati.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Were you hopeful for that?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Nah? I honestly I was helpful for anything. Just I
- 1:25Speaker 3: didn't care.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right, because that was when they were talking
- 1:28Speaker 4: about Cincinnati needs to take a tackle and.
- 1:30Speaker 3: It took jam Chase right, yep, and a great decision.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Now it was your camp sitting there being like, yo,
- 1:35Speaker 4: Cincinnati's the move, that's where you're gonna go.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Uh. For the most part, it was leaning towards that way. Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And how has it been seeing the fandom of the
- 1:43Speaker 4: Lions when you first got here out people are excited
- 1:45Speaker 4: about Dan and all that, but there was just like
- 1:47Speaker 4: the thirty years you guys literally broke the seal on
- 1:49Speaker 4: something they haven't done forever. Seeing it now this year,
- 1:51Speaker 4: all the hype you get back in the city, You
- 1:54Speaker 4: see everyone just totally dialed into everything. How does that
- 1:57Speaker 4: feel knowing that you've been in a huge part of.
- 1:58Speaker 5: That, man, it feels a amazing to be honest, just
- 2:01Speaker 5: because my rookie year, I think we didn't win a
- 2:04Speaker 5: game until like week twelve or like eleven or something
- 2:07Speaker 5: like that, and that was depressing, to be honest, never
- 2:09Speaker 5: been a part of something like that, And uh, just
- 2:12Speaker 5: to see our growth from there, and just to see
- 2:15Speaker 5: what type of dudes that are in his building now,
- 2:17Speaker 5: it's just amazing. You just see the progress, You see
- 2:19Speaker 5: the blueprint that Holmes and Campbell put together and just
- 2:23Speaker 5: makes you love the game, you know.
- 2:25Speaker 1: With all Like everybody loves coach Campbell. He's always got
- 2:29Speaker 1: the clips that go viral. People love the football guy
- 2:32Speaker 1: of the that he is.
- 2:33Speaker 2: What is your biggest pet peeve of Coach Campbell pet peeve?
- 2:39Speaker 5: There's not a lot, but sometimes when he's in a
- 2:45Speaker 5: team meeting room, he'll go on a spiel. And when
- 2:48Speaker 5: he's on his spiel, sometimes he needs to take a break.
- 2:51Speaker 5: And it's a long break and you just don't know
- 2:53Speaker 5: what's gonna come out of his mouth next. So he's
- 2:55Speaker 5: going on about a story. He'll pause for a nice
- 2:58Speaker 5: three minutes and then totally just veer off another direction,
- 3:04Speaker 5: like we could talk about football and then have that
- 3:06Speaker 5: pause and then talk about his.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Dog and the conversation done.
- 3:11Speaker 5: You're just like, I thought that was supposed to be
- 3:14Speaker 5: like kind of inspirational, motivational, kind of get something out
- 3:17Speaker 5: of it.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And then he'll just yeah, man, he's really thinking of
- 3:19Speaker 2: something deep here.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Yes, exactly the man. I'm about to get pumped right now. YEA,
- 3:25Speaker 5: give me something, coach.
- 3:26Speaker 3: And then dog loves steak or something like. That's probably
- 3:33Speaker 3: the one thing.
- 3:33Speaker 4: You know, after the first thirty seconds of that three
- 3:35Speaker 4: minute period, you're just like you whisper to your boy,
- 3:38Speaker 4: like kind of nudging his leg.
- 3:39Speaker 3: You can see his heart racing too.
- 3:41Speaker 5: He's just like breathing heavily, and you're just said, all right,
- 3:44Speaker 5: come on, coach, Okay, what are you about to say?
- 3:47Speaker 5: And then he drops that and you're just like, all right, coach,
- 3:49Speaker 5: I see you next time.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Did Your offensive line is probably one of the best
- 3:55Speaker 4: in the entire NFL Like, sorry, no, that's sieving your
- 4:00Speaker 4: hard time. But with Frank and then Graham leaving and
- 4:03Speaker 4: coming back and Decker and you, like, the expectation for
- 4:06Speaker 4: you guys got to be so high this year. Like,
- 4:08Speaker 4: do you guys talk about how you know there's such
- 4:12Speaker 4: a like the foundation of the team is really on
- 4:14Speaker 4: the offensive line? Do you guys talk about how important
- 4:16Speaker 4: it is for you guys to essentially live up to
- 4:18Speaker 4: the standard that everyone's putting on you guys right now?
- 4:20Speaker 5: We definitely don't talk about it because I think a
- 4:23Speaker 5: lot of people already know and that everyone else is
- 4:26Speaker 5: kind of talking for us, And so I think our
- 4:28Speaker 5: thing is is just coming into the building every day
- 4:31Speaker 5: and be in that example, you know, just not even
- 4:33Speaker 5: talking about it, just be it and filling those shoes
- 4:36Speaker 5: with no hesitation and a lot of confidence. So I
- 4:39Speaker 5: don't think we need to talk about it, So we
- 4:41Speaker 5: just be about it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: The offensive line rooms are the best. What do you
- 4:47Speaker 1: guys operate by any rules?
- 4:48Speaker 4: So for example, it's like the fine system.
- 4:51Speaker 2: The fine there's always a fine system.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I feel like everywhere if you get mentioned in a
- 4:55Speaker 1: team meeting, you know, that's a fine. If you're doing
- 4:58Speaker 1: anything quirky, like, what rules does your guys offensive line
- 5:00Speaker 1: room have?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well, maybe it's with rookies.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Maybe no rules for like I guess the vets and
- 5:06Speaker 5: the older guys, but the rookies they have to stock
- 5:11Speaker 5: the fridge, sodas, juice, water, whatever, whatever the fellas want.
- 5:16Speaker 3: And then snacks, little debbies gotta be a lot of
- 5:18Speaker 3: little Debbie.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Snacks, big little Debbie guy.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, big, big time. And then uh, that's about it.
- 5:27Speaker 5: And then maybe one of the vets want like an
- 5:31Speaker 5: express machine or like a hot dog stand or whatever
- 5:35Speaker 5: they want, so they'll ask the rookies.
- 5:37Speaker 3: They gotta get it.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah, as a rookie ever dropped the ball.
- 5:41Speaker 3: No, so far, this rookie class has been great, honestly.
- 5:44Speaker 4: And what about the what about the holiday season? You
- 5:47Speaker 4: get into Spootober? You got Thanksgiving around the corner, Christmas?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Uh?
- 5:50Speaker 5: So far, just Christmas. We don't do Thanksgiving or Halloween.
- 5:54Speaker 5: We have the rookies decorate the room, and I think
- 6:01Speaker 5: that's about it, to be honest.
- 6:02Speaker 2: You guys get each other gifts.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we do, like a white elephant type vibe.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Is there a limit?
- 6:07Speaker 3: Last year it.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Was a thousand thousand minimum.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah, minimum.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That's a good white elef.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yeah, good nice, yeah, some nice stuff out there, some papers.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Down like here, let's do fifty, yeah, knowing it'll go
- 6:21Speaker 2: up from there, right and you.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Can't do cash, right, can't?
- 6:24Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, I can't.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I don't want to step on your guys traditions, but
- 6:27Speaker 4: you guys really need to start decorating for Halloween. You're
- 6:29Speaker 4: in the middle of the season.
- 6:30Speaker 5: The document The Rooies, I mean we have folloween yeah
- 6:33Speaker 5: yeaah oh wait, actually the team had the team has something.
- 6:37Speaker 5: It's not just the line, but the team has a
- 6:39Speaker 5: thing where all the rookies have to dress up for
- 6:40Speaker 5: Halloween and then Campbell introduces them, say what they are?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Gotcha?
- 6:45Speaker 3: So?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yeah, growing up, you grew up in Samhow.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Correct correct America simum?
- 6:49Speaker 4: And then you went to Utah when you're twelve years old?
- 6:52Speaker 3: Correct? When?
- 6:53Speaker 4: Where when did you pick up football? Because obviously you
- 6:55Speaker 4: go into Oregon, you're an immediate starter, you win the
- 6:57Speaker 4: Outland Trophy. Like you've had a very deck great career already.
- 7:01Speaker 4: But usually kids are picking up the game of like five, six,
- 7:03Speaker 4: seven years old?
- 7:04Speaker 7: Were you doing that?
- 7:06Speaker 5: I've always been around a game, so like not playing it,
- 7:09Speaker 5: like with pads on and everything. But my dad was
- 7:11Speaker 5: a coach, so honestly, since probably like four five, I've
- 7:16Speaker 5: been around the game, just running around his high school team,
- 7:19Speaker 5: helping him set up cones and oftentimes running the drills
- 7:23Speaker 5: with the players. And then my first padded youth gig
- 7:32Speaker 5: was when I was nine turning ten. And this age
- 7:35Speaker 5: group is a little different on the island because you
- 7:38Speaker 5: can't really be specific because of money and all that.
- 7:40Speaker 3: It's not that much.
- 7:41Speaker 5: So I think it was like ten to thirteen you
- 7:44Speaker 5: could play, and then like that was the only range
- 7:47Speaker 5: for the youth football down there. So I was nine
- 7:50Speaker 5: turning ten and my two older brothers were already playing,
- 7:53Speaker 5: and I was like, man on the I'm on the age,
- 7:55Speaker 5: let me play. My dad didn't let me play that year,
- 7:57Speaker 5: and just because everyone was just huge at thirteen on
- 8:00Speaker 5: the island, and so I played my when I was ten,
- 8:04Speaker 5: and that's when I just I got killed left and right,
- 8:07Speaker 5: just getting killed by these thirteen fourteen.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Year olds.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Didn't play at all. But I think that moment right
- 8:14Speaker 5: there is what really set me up for success, because
- 8:17Speaker 5: once I got to the island, I was the bully.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Like growing up, I knew all those hits that I
- 8:23Speaker 5: got were like hard and like all those things is
- 8:28Speaker 5: kind of like taking as a little kid.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Now I'm the one giving it, you know what I mean.
- 8:31Speaker 5: So like I'm the one staying in the tone, and
- 8:33Speaker 5: I know what it feels like and I know how
- 8:34Speaker 5: to what it looks like.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So what was it like growing up in a household
- 8:37Speaker 1: like you? Obviously your three brothers they all play ball.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You're an old man's a head coach. What's it like
- 8:43Speaker 1: growing up in an environment like that?
- 8:44Speaker 5: Honestly, it was a lot of fun. A lot of
- 8:46Speaker 5: broken things in the house. Mom didn't like it, but yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 5: super fun. We played football every second we had.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Is that hard on you guys for football?
- 8:57Speaker 3: Yeah? That's about it. Though.
- 8:59Speaker 5: It was like football was my dad and academics was
- 9:01Speaker 5: my mom. Ye, so but yeah, it was really harsh
- 9:04Speaker 5: on us, uh in terms of like doing the right
- 9:08Speaker 5: things and uh uh learning to plays and stuff like that.
- 9:13Speaker 5: So but every chance we got on the island to
- 9:16Speaker 5: play football on the beach in our backyard on the mountain, like,
- 9:20Speaker 5: we played it, and it was like our football was
- 9:23Speaker 5: like a bottle like this, sorry, let me not put
- 9:26Speaker 5: that up like that one, and then we'd fill it
- 9:29Speaker 5: up the bottom with like sand and then water and
- 9:32Speaker 5: it'd have some weight on it and that'd be our
- 9:33Speaker 5: football just because we didn't have one.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And then we just tossed around and just tackle each
- 9:38Speaker 3: other basically.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you ended up going to Oregon, which
- 9:42Speaker 4: has like the nicest facilities.
- 9:43Speaker 3: All yeah. No, it was a total total flip.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Total flip. What made you choose Orgon.
- 9:48Speaker 5: To be honest, it was a personnel that was there,
- 9:51Speaker 5: head coach Mario Cristobal, that's my guy. Loved that dude
- 9:55Speaker 5: to death and fell in love with this whole philosophy,
- 9:58Speaker 5: his whole vibe and what he's about. And I know
- 10:00Speaker 5: he's an online guy too, And to have an online
- 10:02Speaker 5: guy as a head coach, I think it's pretty good
- 10:05Speaker 5: for me.
- 10:05Speaker 3: So no doubt.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Should we tear talk.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Let's hear some tier talk real quick?
- 10:08Speaker 1: All right, So we have this segment called tier talk,
- 10:10Speaker 1: where essentially you tier one through three, like your top three.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Our tier talk with you is going to be necessities
- 10:17Speaker 1: in training camp. What are the top three things that
- 10:19Speaker 1: you have to have that you have to pack? Do
- 10:22Speaker 1: you guys stay in a hotel?
- 10:23Speaker 3: No? No, I'm going to go home.
- 10:24Speaker 2: What are the three things you have to have during
- 10:26Speaker 2: training camp?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Phone?
- 10:32Speaker 5: I guess, But like with the phone, I watched movies
- 10:35Speaker 5: a lot just during the breaks.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Are you a gamer?
- 10:40Speaker 3: I am a gamer?
- 10:41Speaker 2: But were you like a rookie.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That if you were in a hotel anywhere you're packing
- 10:44Speaker 1: your exack?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:46Speaker 5: I think my rookie year we went to or second year,
- 10:50Speaker 5: we went to Indy for like a joint training camp.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah, bad thing. I was like, yeah, I need it.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I'm a big NCAA. You got right now?
- 10:57Speaker 5: So that's got me hookedgan all the time?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Any good? Nah, I'm still trying to figure out this.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I'm horrendous.
- 11:06Speaker 4: So I'm sitting in the same boat.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a little different, but uh so I need
- 11:11Speaker 5: I don't really need much, to be honest.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Have about some gold bond? Are you a chafer during
- 11:14Speaker 2: training camp?
- 11:15Speaker 7: Nah?
- 11:16Speaker 2: No, I'm good.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I would always I would always get the rashes.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Yeah you know what I mean.
- 11:22Speaker 1: That's a big gold bond on sit in front of
- 11:24Speaker 1: a fan naked with Calmine lotion in case I got
- 11:26Speaker 1: boys and.
- 11:26Speaker 8: Ivy damn okay wow.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, nothing else though, phone, I'm simple?
- 11:39Speaker 4: Uh Tier three, I do like the phone, so I'll
- 11:42Speaker 4: put the phone out there. Tier three phone, uh, Tier
- 11:46Speaker 4: two electrolytes because I'm a big cramper, so I would
- 11:53Speaker 4: always be taking my water bottles and always be filling
- 11:56Speaker 4: them up. But my tier one, because we did stay
- 11:58Speaker 4: in a hotel.
- 11:58Speaker 7: Was lotion.
- 12:01Speaker 4: H I mean, yeah, time you have? You got what
- 12:07Speaker 4: times you got this morning?
- 12:08Speaker 3: U six, six forty five?
- 12:11Speaker 4: And then you're in the building. You've just finished practice.
- 12:13Speaker 4: It's not even doon yet.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Get back?
- 12:14Speaker 4: What's up to get back done?
- 12:16Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 12:17Speaker 3: True? I got back last night around seven forty.
- 12:19Speaker 4: So we would get back like eight thirty nine. Yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 4: that's t I would take those fifteen minutes and it
- 12:24Speaker 4: would be me and myself and I.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Know we did stay in a hotel.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Yeah, we have to stay in the hotel for the
- 12:29Speaker 4: first until the second I mean.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Got here.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, we got and you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 12:38Speaker 4: You can't tell me you walk into a hotel room
- 12:40Speaker 4: and you're not like, this is the safest I'll ever be.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Yeah, you gotta take care of some alone time to
- 12:46Speaker 4: take care of business.
- 12:48Speaker 2: So that's my way games.
- 12:49Speaker 4: My Tier one is lotion.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Oh maybe necessity.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Is some nicotine, Lucy, Lucy got. The only thing I
- 12:59Speaker 1: feel like I would ad is Norma Tech. I feel
- 13:01Speaker 1: like I was always packing Norma text everywhere I went
- 13:03Speaker 1: in Norman Tech Xbox.
- 13:04Speaker 3: It's a good one.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Lotions a great one, but normal Tech. I'll start with
- 13:08Speaker 1: gold Bond, Norma Tech Xbox.
- 13:12Speaker 4: So I would never bring the Xbox because my brain,
- 13:15Speaker 4: I'd be up till two, like two am, and then
- 13:17Speaker 4: the next day I'm screwed.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's like it's especially important, like for an
- 13:21Speaker 1: off day, off days when it's a big Xbox. If
- 13:23Speaker 1: the boys, yeah, running the hallways.
- 13:27Speaker 4: You know what I mean, they know they're all good points,
- 13:29Speaker 4: all good points. It's just me. If I walked into
- 13:31Speaker 4: a room like now, the Locans in the corner, and
- 13:34Speaker 4: I got to play the Xbox for four or five hours,
- 13:37Speaker 4: I got, I got tradition, I got I got stuff.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I gotta figure out.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Guys are wondering why you're not sitting with them for
- 13:43Speaker 1: snack at night and you're just backing it to go
- 13:45Speaker 1: to get up to your real.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Right immediately go play. Imagine trying to play, trying to
- 13:48Speaker 4: be in camp right now. We'll see if he's twenty
- 13:50Speaker 4: five going on.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I know, I know because I love that game. Right now,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I know what?
- 13:55Speaker 4: Uh?
- 13:55Speaker 1: You obviously signing congratulations, the biggest, the highest paid alignment
- 13:59Speaker 1: in history. As a right now, what is we love
- 14:02Speaker 1: to ask this question and please humorous. What has been
- 14:05Speaker 1: your biggest splurge purchase since signing that contract? Or maybe
- 14:10Speaker 1: when you got drafted in the first round? I mean
- 14:11Speaker 1: you did? You are like the man.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Uh, I guess let's start with the rookie one a
- 14:20Speaker 5: house but like that's I guess standard didn't need a
- 14:23Speaker 5: roof over my head, but a car I got, like
- 14:24Speaker 5: I got the tar X. Okay, that bad boy, you know.
- 14:28Speaker 5: So that's my baby right there. And then this big
- 14:31Speaker 5: contract honestly, not much other than jeury yeah big jewelry.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yeah yeah not me, but uh for the significant other.
- 14:43Speaker 4: So you just got married, congratulations, thank you two weeks ago.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yeah. No honeymoon, no, Yeah, we're gonna wait.
- 14:51Speaker 4: So where are you all gonna go?
- 14:52Speaker 7: Man?
- 14:53Speaker 3: Uh, I don't know.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Balley's calling my name a little bit, but we'll see.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I don't know, it's not for sure.
- 14:59Speaker 4: That's just I couldn't even pick that out of the
- 15:01Speaker 4: map if I if I wanted to I just want
- 15:04Speaker 4: to go and.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Just culture yourself exactly. I love that.
- 15:07Speaker 4: We appreciate you coming, man, thank you so much for
- 15:09Speaker 4: having me in the ass. So just taking a little
- 15:11Speaker 4: bit of time out of your days, it means a lot.
- 15:13Speaker 4: So we appreciate you.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Thank you, guys. I appreciate it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Man, appreciate that. Bro.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Look at that punctual, punctual.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Two hundred balls like a day caught in the jukes.
- 15:23Speaker 7: Did you do today before practice? Sorry, before practice, before practice,
- 15:28Speaker 7: before practice?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you had an increase, You've had a I'm on
- 15:31Speaker 1: episode six. You've had an incredible showing so far.
- 15:34Speaker 7: Thanks appreciate it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I really respect it.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And I'm super curious what it was like growing up
- 15:38Speaker 1: in the household with your old man.
- 15:41Speaker 7: Honestly, for me, it was normal, Like that's the that's
- 15:43Speaker 7: the life I grew up. You know, knowing him, you know,
- 15:49Speaker 7: being the guy he is. Everyone sees the way he acts.
- 15:52Speaker 7: You know, him telling me to drink a coke at halftime.
- 15:55Speaker 7: I'm used to it, get those texts all the time,
- 15:58Speaker 7: you know, the sayings that he has. I'm used to
- 16:00Speaker 7: it him, you know, being like our trainers, but you know,
- 16:05Speaker 7: outside of sports and being our trainer. He was awesome dad,
- 16:09Speaker 7: So it was a good time.
- 16:10Speaker 2: When we had CMC on.
- 16:12Speaker 1: He would say that his dad ed McCaffrey like he
- 16:15Speaker 1: would get grounded if he got arm tackled in youth football.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Did you have anything like that with your old man,
- 16:20Speaker 1: because I would assume he was pretty hard on you guys.
- 16:22Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I didn't get no. I wouldn't say I
- 16:24Speaker 7: got grounded or you know, punished for anything. It was
- 16:28Speaker 7: just like, you know, if you had a bad game,
- 16:30Speaker 7: getting that car right home is always hell. It's like
- 16:33Speaker 7: that's the last thing you want to do after the game.
- 16:35Speaker 7: After a bad game. Yeah, you know, you got to
- 16:36Speaker 7: get in the car with your dad and go home
- 16:38Speaker 7: and he's gonna tell you everything you did wrong and
- 16:40Speaker 7: what you got to fix and how you got to
- 16:42Speaker 7: be better, and so those are I would say, that's
- 16:44Speaker 7: what I dreaded most, is the car right home, or
- 16:47Speaker 7: we'd go after, you know, after practice, go back to
- 16:49Speaker 7: the park, buy a house and get more drills in,
- 16:52Speaker 7: just keep working on the stuff that I wasn't doing right.
- 16:54Speaker 7: So I was used to it, but as a kid,
- 16:56Speaker 7: it's like here a right, here we go, Like I
- 16:58Speaker 7: gotta go back to this an that's all I knew.
- 17:01Speaker 4: With with your old man, like obviously him being a
- 17:03Speaker 4: part of like your strength, your coaching, all that stuff.
- 17:05Speaker 4: At what point when you're like, hey, Dad, like I'm
- 17:07Speaker 4: a senior at USC, I have coaches for this name.
- 17:14Speaker 7: And college. It was it was a little different because
- 17:16Speaker 7: I wasn't with him. So I was the first time
- 17:17Speaker 7: I wasn't with my dad, you know, almost every day.
- 17:20Speaker 7: So but I went to USC, so it was like
- 17:22Speaker 7: an hour away from from his house, so he'd be
- 17:24Speaker 7: at a lot of the practices. Obviously he couldn't come
- 17:27Speaker 7: to all them because some practices aren't open to family,
- 17:29Speaker 7: but he would come to a lot of them, and
- 17:32Speaker 7: you know, he would still coach me up. He kind
- 17:34Speaker 7: of let me do my thing. But when I got
- 17:35Speaker 7: to college, but if he saw anything that he didn't like,
- 17:37Speaker 7: he was either telling me, text me, calling me, whatever
- 17:39Speaker 7: it was. But even still to this day in the NFL,
- 17:43Speaker 7: he's still you know, texting me, calling me, you know,
- 17:47Speaker 7: giving me his thoughts and opinions for me. You know,
- 17:50Speaker 7: I respect it. Obviously, you know, he's never played at
- 17:53Speaker 7: this level, so some of the things it's hard for
- 17:56Speaker 7: me to explain to him. Because, like I tell other people,
- 17:58Speaker 7: He's like, I want you to get the ball on
- 18:00Speaker 7: for a second, third down every play, like you should
- 18:01Speaker 7: be getting the ball. I'm like, it doesn't work like that.
- 18:03Speaker 7: I gotta run routes, gotta run guys off and things
- 18:05Speaker 7: like that. So he just wants me to, you know,
- 18:08Speaker 7: keep going, keep going in.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I get it.
- 18:10Speaker 7: But I love him to death.
- 18:12Speaker 4: How is his exposure as far as like the Netflix
- 18:15Speaker 4: receiver and all that, How has he been received by
- 18:17Speaker 4: the public?
- 18:18Speaker 7: People love him, Bro, Yeah, I'm in the locker room.
- 18:20Speaker 7: I got teammates not even talking about me. They're talking
- 18:22Speaker 7: about my dad. Man. I love your dad, Bro, he's awesome.
- 18:25Speaker 7: I got Michael Badget tell me he's looking at all
- 18:27Speaker 7: the podcasts. He's keeping up with him and he loves
- 18:29Speaker 7: his sayings. I tell everyone like, Bro, I'm I'm used
- 18:32Speaker 7: to it. Like every day I can tell you what
- 18:34Speaker 7: he's about to stay before he even says it, Like
- 18:35Speaker 7: I know exactly what type of guy is. But the
- 18:39Speaker 7: people love him and they love you know. I think
- 18:41Speaker 7: he's he's raw, he's honest, he's he's himself, no matter
- 18:44Speaker 7: if the cameras or if it's not. And I think
- 18:46Speaker 7: people you know, respect that, but I think his personality
- 18:49Speaker 7: is just one of one.
- 18:51Speaker 2: What's his go to quote? Like, what is the number
- 18:53Speaker 2: one quote of his.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Go to quote? I mean, as a kid who was
- 19:02Speaker 7: so many I feel like he always, you know, reminded
- 19:05Speaker 7: us about, you know, this decision making. He would tell
- 19:09Speaker 7: us something, he would tell us. You know, you can
- 19:10Speaker 7: either listen to me or listen to yourself. But if
- 19:13Speaker 7: I were you, I would listen to me. That's something
- 19:14Speaker 7: he always told us growing up as kids. I mean
- 19:18Speaker 7: there's so many uh you know, shoot for the stars
- 19:21Speaker 7: because the bottoms of a crowded I mean, he has
- 19:26Speaker 7: so many sayings. Then he has these little like one off.
- 19:29Speaker 7: I don't know if you guys seen our podcasts, but
- 19:31Speaker 7: it's like, if the situation arises and something looks too
- 19:34Speaker 7: good to be true, be careful. All Kenny looks good
- 19:36Speaker 7: before you taste it. Like, there's so many little sayings
- 19:38Speaker 7: he has that he always Yeah, but I'm used to it.
- 19:42Speaker 7: I mean I've picked up some from him too.
- 19:44Speaker 4: You brought the podcast. How long have you guys been
- 19:46Speaker 4: doing a podcast?
- 19:47Speaker 7: We've been doing it going. This is going into our
- 19:48Speaker 7: third year now, yeah, and.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Is it do you guys do a weekly or just
- 19:51Speaker 4: during the season.
- 19:52Speaker 7: During the season, every we record on Tuesdays and it
- 19:55Speaker 7: drops on Wednesdays.
- 19:56Speaker 2: What's it called.
- 19:57Speaker 7: It's got the Same Brown podcast.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Same Brown podcasts. Go check it out, subscribe. All yeah, right,
- 20:02Speaker 1: five stars drop comments. Dude, I love the way you play.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I feel like you play pissed off.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Which also is.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I guess I'll use the word like unexpected. You're a
- 20:14Speaker 1: five star cat, you go to USC, you leave early
- 20:17Speaker 1: and declared for the draft, You get drafted, which round
- 20:20Speaker 1: to get fourth round? But where do you find Where
- 20:24Speaker 1: do you feel like you found this chip on your
- 20:26Speaker 1: shoulder to play the way that you play?
- 20:30Speaker 7: I think for me it was I've always been like
- 20:32Speaker 7: that ever since you know, I was a kid. I've
- 20:34Speaker 7: just been super competitive, like I've always and I hated losing.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Like that's the biggest thing for me is whatever I do,
- 20:40Speaker 7: I don't want to lose, especially if I'm playing sports,
- 20:42Speaker 7: because I love I love sports. I loved them growing up, basketball, football, soccer, everything.
- 20:47Speaker 7: I hated losing. And so when I got to high school,
- 20:50Speaker 7: I played varsity as a sophomore and I played a
- 20:53Speaker 7: little got hurt, broke my foot, and then my brother
- 20:57Speaker 7: was balling out. He was a junior going crazy. I
- 20:59Speaker 7: was like, killing my brother would do me. So then
- 21:01Speaker 7: he you know, next year, I'm a junior, he's a senior.
- 21:03Speaker 7: I gotta do better than him. He was going crazy.
- 21:05Speaker 7: He was like, had like fifteen touchdowns over a thousand
- 21:08Speaker 7: yards and I was super happy for him. But I
- 21:10Speaker 7: was like just me being me, like being around my
- 21:12Speaker 7: brothers all the time. I got to do better than
- 21:14Speaker 7: my brother. So going into my junior year, I was like,
- 21:16Speaker 7: I got to do better him. So we both, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 7: had great years. I might have had a little more touch,
- 21:22Speaker 7: like a few more stats in him, but it was
- 21:24Speaker 7: like neck and neck. He ended up leaving, going to Stanford.
- 21:27Speaker 7: And then you know, I got my senior year at
- 21:28Speaker 7: Modern Day and at that time, I was like a
- 21:30Speaker 7: five star or whatever like you said, and won the
- 21:34Speaker 7: state title. Yeah, we won everything. One of the best
- 21:36Speaker 7: teams ever in high school football. But we won the
- 21:39Speaker 7: whole thing. You know, did all the camps and Nike
- 21:42Speaker 7: opening and everything, and being at those camps. I just
- 21:44Speaker 7: love one on ones. That was the biggest thing for me,
- 21:46Speaker 7: was doing one on ones. You against the dB. What
- 21:50Speaker 7: a quarterback everyone's watching, and I just I just love
- 21:54Speaker 7: the competition aspect of you know, me versus you. And
- 21:58Speaker 7: then ever since, I feel like, you know, high school
- 22:00Speaker 7: into college, I wanted to play as a freshman. So
- 22:02Speaker 7: I was out there as a freshman, trying to dog
- 22:04Speaker 7: people whatever I could do, running people over, blocking, trying
- 22:07Speaker 7: to make every catch, taking every rep if I could,
- 22:10Speaker 7: And that just kind of translated all the way. And
- 22:12Speaker 7: then I got dropped late. I was mad, already got
- 22:14Speaker 7: here and same thing over again. I wanted to go dominate.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Yeah, there's something about like football players, even when you're
- 22:23Speaker 4: having the success you do, they like in a good way,
- 22:26Speaker 4: like delusion of making being like these people don't believe me.
- 22:29Speaker 4: So I'm gonna have a chip on my shoulder. Right
- 22:30Speaker 4: with your brother going to Stanford and you guys planning
- 22:33Speaker 4: against each other in the PAC twelve, the conference formerly
- 22:36Speaker 4: noticed PAC twelve. Did you ever think about going to Stanford?
- 22:38Speaker 7: I did. It was between Notre Dame, Stanford, and USC,
- 22:40Speaker 7: so I had my oldest went to Notre Dame, middle
- 22:43Speaker 7: went to Stanford, and I went to USC becoming I
- 22:45Speaker 7: was like, I love I always loved Stanford because it
- 22:49Speaker 7: was an educational smart school. I just love Coach Shaw
- 22:52Speaker 7: and everyone. And then Notre Dame. I didn't really know
- 22:54Speaker 7: much about Notre Dame. My brother took a visit and
- 22:56Speaker 7: I went with him, and I was like, this is
- 22:58Speaker 7: pretty cool, like tradition everything the local is little, eh,
- 23:01Speaker 7: but like once you get there, it's like its own world.
- 23:05Speaker 7: The games are amazing electric. So went to Notre Dame.
- 23:10Speaker 7: When I visit. I love Notre Dame, but I was like,
- 23:12Speaker 7: he ended up declaring as I was coming out of
- 23:14Speaker 7: high school, so I peopuld have stayed. I think one
- 23:15Speaker 7: more year. I probably would have went to Notre Dame
- 23:17Speaker 7: to play with my older brother because I've never played
- 23:19Speaker 7: with him, but he ended up declaring to go with
- 23:21Speaker 7: the NFL. I was like, you know what. Notre Dame
- 23:23Speaker 7: was cool. He just left though Stanford they don't really
- 23:25Speaker 7: throw the ball. I love the school, but they don't
- 23:26Speaker 7: throw as much as I would like. And USC is
- 23:30Speaker 7: close to home, and I want to keep my talent, Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 7: my talent at home.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You mentioned being pissed off being drafted late. There's a
- 23:37Speaker 1: you have a list of receivers that got drafted out
- 23:39Speaker 1: of you. What are the names on those lists?
- 23:41Speaker 7: You know I would recite those again for you guys,
- 23:43Speaker 7: but you guys probably heard it too many times. You
- 23:45Speaker 7: guys are sick of it now, so I can't do
- 23:47Speaker 7: it again for you guys.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Now. When you were coming out, I know a couple
- 23:50Speaker 1: of sites like PFF Draft Network, they projected you in
- 23:54Speaker 1: like second or third round and talked to you being
- 23:56Speaker 1: a pure second string player. Do you ever think do
- 23:58Speaker 1: you ever remember? Are these things now that you've had
- 24:01Speaker 1: the success that you do?
- 24:03Speaker 5: Uh?
- 24:03Speaker 7: You know, I wouldn't say like back, you know, coming
- 24:06Speaker 7: out obviously, you know when I first started, when I
- 24:08Speaker 7: first got here and it started making some plays. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 7: But like now it's I feel like I don't really
- 24:15Speaker 7: pay too much attention to that. I mean, that's their job.
- 24:18Speaker 7: They got to make. Media has to make, you know, predictions, whatever,
- 24:22Speaker 7: that's their job. That's they have to do. I don't
- 24:24Speaker 7: blame him. I don't think they're the best at it,
- 24:25Speaker 7: but it is what it is. But now I'm at
- 24:28Speaker 7: a point in my career where it's like I'm worried
- 24:32Speaker 7: about Obviously, I want.
- 24:34Speaker 3: To play good.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Every player wants to play good, but I feel like
- 24:36Speaker 7: we just want to win a super Bowl. That's the
- 24:38Speaker 7: biggest thing, whatever it takes for me as a team
- 24:40Speaker 7: to lead, whatever it is to be a good teammate,
- 24:43Speaker 7: to make more players. If I have to go out
- 24:46Speaker 7: there and go be super Bowl champs, that's the biggest thing.
- 24:50Speaker 7: I feel like we know we can do as a team.
- 24:53Speaker 7: We feel like we got the guys in our in
- 24:55Speaker 7: our building, on our roster, the coaches, We've been here
- 24:58Speaker 7: for a while now, and we got so close last
- 25:01Speaker 7: year that I mean, we just gotta we just got
- 25:05Speaker 7: to push a little harder.
- 25:06Speaker 4: If when Will Wills already talks about the intensity you
- 25:08Speaker 4: play with and everything, the competitive nature when you're in
- 25:12Speaker 4: the lock room with guys in the wide receiver room
- 25:15Speaker 4: is a dramatic room. It can be very like finicky
- 25:17Speaker 4: that way when you see guys maybe not putting in
- 25:19Speaker 4: the same effort as you. How do you approach it
- 25:22Speaker 4: from a leadership standpoint?
- 25:25Speaker 7: You know, sometimes it's tough for me. I feel like
- 25:28Speaker 7: I don't wanna I don't want to the teammates the
- 25:31Speaker 7: think I'm you know, being tough on them or I
- 25:33Speaker 7: don't like them. So that's kind of something that I'm
- 25:35Speaker 7: trying to been trying to battle right now. Is when
- 25:37Speaker 7: to speak up and when not to because I'm I'm
- 25:40Speaker 7: not a guy that's a hoorah guy. I'm gonna go
- 25:42Speaker 7: out there. I don't say much. I like to work.
- 25:45Speaker 7: I'd rather show you better than I can tell you.
- 25:47Speaker 7: But you know, if something is out of line and
- 25:49Speaker 7: I feel like I need to speak up, I'll speak up.
- 25:51Speaker 7: But you know, if someone's not working hard on the field,
- 25:55Speaker 7: I feel like with our practice, it's kind of hard
- 25:57Speaker 7: not to work hard. When everyone's working hard, you'll kind
- 25:59Speaker 7: of be like the the automat now if you're not
- 26:01Speaker 7: doing the right thing. So I feel like our coaches
- 26:03Speaker 7: and teammates everyone does a great job of pushing each other,
- 26:05Speaker 7: so that's not really a problem we have here. But
- 26:07Speaker 7: like I said, if something is really out of line,
- 26:09Speaker 7: then I'll speak up. But for the most part, I
- 26:11Speaker 7: just like to show the guys how I work, and
- 26:13Speaker 7: you know, then my plate at the talking.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Do you find yourself like focusing on developing into that,
- 26:18Speaker 1: like more of a vocal leader now that like when
- 26:21Speaker 1: you're a guy, like obviously your voice carries more weight.
- 26:24Speaker 7: Yeah, Like I said, something I've been working on because
- 26:28Speaker 7: my whole life I haven't really been a vocal leader.
- 26:31Speaker 7: That's not something that I thriving. You know, I feel
- 26:35Speaker 7: like some guys talk too much and that's really that's
- 26:37Speaker 7: not the guy I want to be. I want to
- 26:40Speaker 7: be a guy that when I do say something, you
- 26:42Speaker 7: know people are listening. So it just hasn't been me,
- 26:46Speaker 7: but something I definitely need to work on get better
- 26:48Speaker 7: as being more vocal. But like I said, I don't
- 26:49Speaker 7: want to be redundant and someone that's speaking to me
- 26:52Speaker 7: it's the worst for me. So like, I'll speak up
- 26:55Speaker 7: if I have to, but something has to really be
- 26:56Speaker 7: going wrong for me to speak up.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Yeah, USC going to the Big ten this year. How
- 27:01Speaker 4: do you feel the boys in California stack up against
- 27:04Speaker 4: a real big ten ball?
- 27:06Speaker 7: You know, I love the move. We're not We're not
- 27:09Speaker 7: worried about the Big ten though.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Let's unpack that for a second. One of the national champions.
- 27:13Speaker 1: You guys got to take a lot of long fights.
- 27:17Speaker 7: Fights Michigan wants to do is run it like just
- 27:20Speaker 7: packed the box. They can't throw, make him throw will
- 27:22Speaker 7: be good.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Every team they played against did that and they lost
- 27:25Speaker 4: to everything.
- 27:25Speaker 7: They've all gone now.
- 27:27Speaker 4: They lost eight guys who they lost eight.
- 27:30Speaker 7: Dudes right, Michigan did.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Yeah, well, actually they lost fifteen guys, so they all
- 27:35Speaker 4: got drafted. Even guys. Even what are you talking about?
- 27:38Speaker 7: Who is reloaded?
- 27:39Speaker 4: What's USC doing?
- 27:40Speaker 7: Don't we got Lincoln? Righty? Do you guys?
- 27:42Speaker 4: Do you guys promote paying your fingernails in California? Is
- 27:46Speaker 4: that a big thing?
- 27:47Speaker 7: No, we don't put out anything.
- 27:48Speaker 8: If you want to do it, go ahead, you know
- 27:49Speaker 8: I love that. Yeah, that's a good PC answer. So
- 27:52Speaker 8: you you guys are gonna run the big ten.
- 27:54Speaker 6: No problem.
- 27:54Speaker 7: I don't know if we're gonna run it, but it's
- 27:55Speaker 7: gonna be It's gonna be fun. I know Michigan is done.
- 27:58Speaker 7: Like they had their one shot. It's over.
- 28:00Speaker 4: That isn't wilde wild statement? Half of your fans are
- 28:05Speaker 4: Michigan fans?
- 28:05Speaker 7: No, they're Detroit Lions fans. And if you're not a
- 28:08Speaker 7: USC fan, there's a problem.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Are you going to go to the game September twenty First.
- 28:12Speaker 7: I wish we actually have an away game.
- 28:15Speaker 4: That sucks, dude, because that would be I would have
- 28:17Speaker 4: been lit. For you to see that kind of experience
- 28:20Speaker 4: would be unbelievable. You've probably never seen anything experience. Are
- 28:22Speaker 4: you talking about the biggest stadium in North America, the
- 28:25Speaker 4: third biggest in the world.
- 28:26Speaker 7: I actually took an official to Michigan when I was
- 28:27Speaker 7: coming out of high school. Michigan Michigan State rainy, don't
- 28:31Speaker 7: do it crazy, Michigan State won. I'm like, I can't
- 28:34Speaker 7: go here. Here was that? That was twenty seventeen. They won, Bro,
- 28:42Speaker 7: Michigan one, raining like crazy, I'm from I'm from southern California.
- 28:46Speaker 7: I'm like, this rain is ridiculous.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Number one.
- 28:48Speaker 7: I couldn't catch a ball in this Then I'm like
- 28:51Speaker 7: and they lost. Vibes were low. Recruiting coordinator wasn't feeling I'm.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Good, Bro.
- 28:57Speaker 7: It was a stadium loud, No know, why are you
- 29:01Speaker 7: doing this?
- 29:01Speaker 4: Man? Like getting a rapport to get.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Out of it.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I love it. I love the back and forth.
- 29:06Speaker 4: I can't wait till Cetemery keep your DMS open. I
- 29:08Speaker 4: will be there, will be after that game.
- 29:10Speaker 7: I will be ready right now.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Yes, dude, what do you mean for you to be
- 29:15Speaker 1: the youngest receiver to a mass of thousand yards? I
- 29:19Speaker 1: think it was eight days before Calvin Johnson.
- 29:22Speaker 7: It was cool. I mean, I mean, that's a that's it.
- 29:25Speaker 4: That's that's just cool.
- 29:26Speaker 7: That's awesome, right, I mean, Covin's one of the best
- 29:29Speaker 7: ever played. So for me, like being in, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 7: playing for the Lions, everything you do is compared to Covin,
- 29:35Speaker 7: which is it's great, but it's also tough. Like he's
- 29:38Speaker 7: the best, one of the best to ever do it.
- 29:39Speaker 7: So it's an honor to be, you know, even considered,
- 29:44Speaker 7: you know, being the same conversation as him. But he
- 29:48Speaker 7: did it for so long, and I feel like, I mean,
- 29:50Speaker 7: I see a pictures on Twitter of him when he
- 29:52Speaker 7: was playing the Saints. It's him on the goal line
- 29:54Speaker 7: with literally two dbs on him. You don't see that
- 29:57Speaker 7: anymore anywhere. Like that just shows you how, you know,
- 30:00Speaker 7: how dominant he was. So just to you know, being,
- 30:04Speaker 7: like I said, in the same conversation as him is
- 30:06Speaker 7: an honor. But I gotta keep going. Man, he was
- 30:09Speaker 7: he was a he was a beast.
- 30:11Speaker 1: What receivers do you keep your eye on? Now, Like
- 30:13Speaker 1: in your in your brain, who's like the top three?
- 30:16Speaker 7: You're not gonna get me on the top three. I'm
- 30:18Speaker 7: not gonna give you no top three. But guys that
- 30:20Speaker 7: I like to watch Stolis, guys that I like to
- 30:24Speaker 7: I watched a bunch of guys. Honestly, I mean I
- 30:26Speaker 7: can go down the list.
- 30:27Speaker 8: We do a top three guys like to watch Top
- 30:30Speaker 8: three guys I like to watch. We can do that,
- 30:32Speaker 8: like yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, top three guys.
- 30:36Speaker 7: It's not my top three by the way, but guys
- 30:37Speaker 7: I like to watch. Davante Adams, love watching him. I'm
- 30:43Speaker 7: gonna go Keenan Allen last one. Let's just go. I'm
- 30:52Speaker 7: gonna go. Justin Jefferson. He's in our division. We play
- 30:54Speaker 7: him twice a year. We watched we play the same team,
- 30:57Speaker 7: so we get to see on film, you know, a
- 30:59Speaker 7: lot of the stuff that they do. And he's a
- 31:00Speaker 7: lot on the table lot, So he's a he's nice.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Just top three, top three receivers. I'm jam Chase is overrated?
- 31:10Speaker 7: Correct?
- 31:11Speaker 2: What what?
- 31:12Speaker 4: What fun question? We should we do a segment? Should
- 31:15Speaker 4: we do Shout for Shadow real quick? Or we holding that?
- 31:17Speaker 4: What was the twisted questions was.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Are you familiar with the was the American Ninja Warrior? American
- 31:22Speaker 2: Ninja Warrior?
- 31:23Speaker 3: All right?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Say you need to get through the course and tap
- 31:28Speaker 1: the button on the other side to save the world.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Who in the locker room would you trust the most
- 31:34Speaker 1: to accomplish the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course.
- 31:38Speaker 7: Oh, to save the world.
- 31:40Speaker 4: It's a great question, Trim.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Do I know what kind of obstas are like the
- 31:44Speaker 3: main weight? Speed? Is that stuff matters?
- 31:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you have to be fast.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I think so, Like it's a jungle gym out there.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I was gonna say balance, speed, I don't think would.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I think we're all dead.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Might be a good one.
- 32:00Speaker 1: You gotta you gotta climb, you got balance, jumping, timing.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Let me hold on Aden Hutchinson.
- 32:10Speaker 4: But he's white.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Trust a white guy.
- 32:14Speaker 4: You can't trust a white guy. But with the fate
- 32:16Speaker 4: of the sport, there's no shot.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Khalif Raymond might have a shot.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Oh, Khalif, but he is bro the ramp and he
- 32:26Speaker 4: is shorter.
- 32:27Speaker 2: He's fast though, he's got a little spring to He's
- 32:29Speaker 2: got a little explosiveness too.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah, well this is not.
- 32:34Speaker 2: It could be, you would say.
- 32:36Speaker 7: Besides, Khalif is great, but you already said that's not
- 32:41Speaker 7: gonna go. Someone else.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Can do.
- 32:46Speaker 7: David Montgomery.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, yes, that's great.
- 32:49Speaker 4: That he's still like a running back career player.
- 32:51Speaker 2: N fourteen Sneaky picking fantasy to for everybody listening.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Beast doesn't catch a lot of balls.
- 32:57Speaker 2: You don't need to. You can run the rock with them, you.
- 33:00Speaker 4: If you're playing PPR league.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I had him last year.
- 33:02Speaker 7: He was nice, going crazy.
- 33:04Speaker 4: He's going crazy. Yes, after a week one of the
- 33:07Speaker 4: season last year, I was dealt with him. I had
- 33:10Speaker 4: him over. He was he was point five. What do
- 33:14Speaker 4: you catch it?
- 33:15Speaker 3: Dad?
- 33:15Speaker 4: I needed him?
- 33:16Speaker 7: Why I need him catch it?
- 33:17Speaker 4: Because that's what I bet on.
- 33:19Speaker 7: Oh you're betting. We don't do that. I'm talking about that.
- 33:23Speaker 4: But I'm bringing this.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Do you play Fantasy?
- 33:26Speaker 3: No? I do not.
- 33:28Speaker 4: You can play.
- 33:28Speaker 7: You can play fantasy. I don't play though.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Okay, I'm sorry that Michigan stuff really bothered you. Huh
- 33:34Speaker 4: about that Michigan stuff. It's all right, dude, go blue

- 34:02Speaker 7: You are the the team last year? Are you part?
- 34:04Speaker 7: Were you part of the team?
- 34:05Speaker 4: No, but I am.
- 34:07Speaker 7: I was just wondering, would you would you win at
- 34:09Speaker 7: the USC what do we win?
- 34:11Speaker 6: Well?
- 34:11Speaker 7: Yeah, how did you guys have? Okay, I was just wondering,
- 34:18Speaker 7: that's for sure. Ready just got us back to Yeah great.
- 34:21Speaker 4: I mean you guys in two thousands for real, that's
- 34:23Speaker 4: the team to go to. But it's the twenties.
- 34:26Speaker 7: It's fine.
- 34:27Speaker 4: I don't want to do this.
- 34:28Speaker 7: I think you don't want to do it. We don't
- 34:29Speaker 7: want to do this like Michigan.
- 34:31Speaker 4: See you on your podcast the week.
- 34:32Speaker 7: Of September twenty first is Saturday that week. Three days
- 34:36Speaker 7: after that, the twenty fourth, we'll see you all right. Okay,
- 34:39Speaker 7: there we go. We got one done.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Right before you leave?
- 34:42Speaker 2: Top three Locker room guys in Detroit.
- 34:44Speaker 7: Locker room guys.
- 34:45Speaker 2: What like locker room vibes?
- 34:46Speaker 3: Do?
- 34:47Speaker 2: Who you get it when?
- 34:48Speaker 1: After practice, before whatever, you're excited to go in lockerwoy Man.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Graham Glassow is awesome. He's got a touch at the
- 34:53Speaker 4: table of it.
- 34:54Speaker 3: He was awesome.
- 34:55Speaker 7: I'm going Jamar Jefferson, Okay, I love running backs. But
- 35:01Speaker 7: he's Gonna'm gonna take Jamar Jefferson.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Who's that?
- 35:04Speaker 7: Khalif Raymond? Mmmm? What else is next to me? Vibes
- 35:17Speaker 7: Kirby Joseph.
- 35:18Speaker 2: I love it. Friendships just got divided. If the boys
- 35:21Speaker 2: listen to this pod.

- 35:25Speaker 7: You're the man. Thank you?
- 35:27Speaker 4: Are you rolling right now? Some people might not know
- 35:29Speaker 4: you for is that you're a fan of beer Games
- 35:31Speaker 4: Championship with the World.
- 35:32Speaker 6: I heard yeah, yeah, Well, as soon as I heard
- 35:34Speaker 6: my teammate Graham Glasgow was participating, I had to. I
- 35:37Speaker 6: had to check you in this. See how it went?
- 35:39Speaker 4: I heard you want a bid for toy twenty five?
- 35:41Speaker 2: Are you in?
- 35:42Speaker 5: Uh?
- 35:43Speaker 6: I have to check my calendar.
- 35:45Speaker 4: You don't know the date soon?
- 35:46Speaker 1: There's no Hey, but it's smart that he says, check
- 35:48Speaker 1: the calendar.
- 35:49Speaker 6: That happened and if I if I'm off and I
- 35:51Speaker 6: have time, I'd like a bid.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 4: How do you think you'd fare in this that type
- 35:54Speaker 4: of situation?
- 35:55Speaker 6: Not great? I'm an okay beer drinker. I'm not like
- 35:58Speaker 6: a like an All star, but I'd have fun. I
- 36:00Speaker 6: did like a good teammate. Your best let me let
- 36:03Speaker 6: me and Graham show up. We might do some damage.
- 36:05Speaker 1: You definitely should get an old lignement, right, they all
- 36:08Speaker 1: they all performed very well.
- 36:09Speaker 6: I'm good at flip cup. I can do beer pong,
- 36:11Speaker 6: like the chugging thing. I'd get smoked, but I'd do it,
- 36:14Speaker 6: but I get smoked.
- 36:15Speaker 2: What do you think you could put how fast you
- 36:17Speaker 2: think you can put down? Thirty two? Thirty six?
- 36:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw you guys doing that. What'd you do
- 36:23Speaker 6: in like five six seconds?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:25Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, uh yeah, I probably I don't know, twelve
- 36:30Speaker 6: to fifteen, twenty seconds, I don't know.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I'm in the same category. You're in the same tier. Yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 2: thirteen thirteen.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Honestly, hearing this like lack of confidence. I don't think
- 36:38Speaker 4: youre smoking hi, because you get better every year.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 36:40Speaker 6: You look like the type of guy who can just
- 36:42Speaker 6: like kind of open your throat and that thing.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Just just let it write to your stomach. Yes, absolutely,
- 36:46Speaker 4: it's it's been a gift my whole entire life.
- 36:47Speaker 3: There you go, there you go.
- 36:49Speaker 4: It's been a special good for you. Yeah, it was
- 36:51Speaker 4: fun when and when Graham texted me and said that
- 36:54Speaker 4: you were you were interested in doing it. I looked
- 36:55Speaker 4: at my phone. I was so excited and then I
- 36:57Speaker 4: didn't text him back at all.
- 36:59Speaker 6: Wow.
- 36:59Speaker 4: And so he actually just called me out of it
- 37:00Speaker 4: after practice today.
- 37:01Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, he's sensitive.
- 37:03Speaker 4: He's a sensitive boy.
- 37:04Speaker 6: He's very sensitive.
- 37:05Speaker 3: He is.
- 37:05Speaker 4: But the best part about Graham is he's consistently himself
- 37:08Speaker 4: through every situation, doesn't change.
- 37:10Speaker 6: He's one of my favorite teammates of all time. And
- 37:12Speaker 6: don't tell him I said that, but yeah, he's one
- 37:13Speaker 6: of my favorite teams if you were.
- 37:15Speaker 4: To give me off the top of your head, not
- 37:16Speaker 4: putting a whole lot of thought too it. So we
- 37:17Speaker 4: have an insurance policy, what would be your top three
- 37:19Speaker 4: teammates of all time?
- 37:20Speaker 6: Of all time?
- 37:21Speaker 4: Because you've had You've had some good teammates.
- 37:22Speaker 6: I mean, I'm gonna lean towards like the funniest guys
- 37:24Speaker 6: I've been around. In Graham's one of them. Graham's one
- 37:28Speaker 6: of them, probably like Taevon Austin used to kill me.
- 37:32Speaker 6: I was with him for a couple of years in
- 37:33Speaker 6: La Shoot favorite. I mean, that's hard. I know Tevon
- 37:42Speaker 6: was funny as hell. I love Tavan, so I'll put
- 37:44Speaker 6: him as two or three. And then you know, David
- 37:48Speaker 6: Montgomery makes me laugh a lot here.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Yeah, is he jokes are on the team.
- 37:52Speaker 6: Yeah, he's hilarious. He's funny, but like very subtle humor
- 37:57Speaker 6: and really funny.
- 37:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Should we ask him what we asked and a no
- 38:02Speaker 2: about coach Campbell?
- 38:05Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 38:05Speaker 2: Sure.
- 38:06Speaker 1: He's such a beloved character. Everybody is a beloved or
- 38:08Speaker 1: beloved beloved. Everybody loves him any clip. You see, he's
- 38:13Speaker 1: a football guy through and through. We asked, what is
- 38:17Speaker 1: your biggest pet peeve with him?
- 38:19Speaker 6: Oh gosh, you know, I'll just I'll tow the company
- 38:25Speaker 6: line here, just how consistent he is.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Meetings.
- 38:31Speaker 1: He'll get long winded, pauls and take a break for
- 38:34Speaker 1: like a minute, three minutes long.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Sure, that's a good answer. That's a better answer that
- 38:37Speaker 6: I gave. He's just so dank consistent. He's hard to
- 38:39Speaker 6: keep up with.
- 38:40Speaker 2: You know, we're not going to get anything out of him.
- 38:44Speaker 6: Yeah, no doubt.
- 38:45Speaker 4: That is tough. That's a great, perpleically correct answer.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Yeah, it's true. But yeah, I wish I had something better.
- 38:51Speaker 4: What I want to I definitely want to dive into
- 38:53Speaker 4: like obviously l a coming here and then the playoff
- 38:56Speaker 4: game you guys had, but like starting with the fan bases. Yeah,
- 38:59Speaker 4: what is the biggest difference you know this from like
- 39:01Speaker 4: this Midwest fan base compared to that West Coast fan base.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Yeah, it's entirely different. Obviously, you played at Michigan, so
- 39:06Speaker 6: you have a little bit of a feel for it.
- 39:08Speaker 6: Like the people around here just live, breathe, die football,
- 39:12Speaker 6: And in LA there's just a lot of things to
- 39:13Speaker 6: do that aren't football, and whether it's other sports or
- 39:16Speaker 6: the beach or you know, going to dinner, a million things.
- 39:18Speaker 6: But around here, man, it's football. And we got the
- 39:20Speaker 6: whole state is Lions fans in California. Obviously there's a
- 39:23Speaker 6: bunch of teams, so it's entirely different, and it's a
- 39:26Speaker 6: lot of fun to playball do.
- 39:27Speaker 2: What was the ride like when you guys are bringing
- 39:29Speaker 2: that division title here?
- 39:31Speaker 6: Fun?
- 39:31Speaker 3: Fun, really fun.
- 39:32Speaker 6: It really started in like twenty twenty two and we
- 39:34Speaker 6: were able to like kind of turn it around a
- 39:36Speaker 6: little bit. We had that Thanksgiving game at home against
- 39:39Speaker 6: the Bills. It's kind of when I first saw the
- 39:40Speaker 6: stadium kind of flip and like, oh, this is what
- 39:43Speaker 6: it could be like if we kept winning and kept
- 39:45Speaker 6: making plays, and we did through that year and then
- 39:47Speaker 6: obviously last year. It's been insane. It's been so fun.
- 39:51Speaker 6: The stadium has got to be one of a lot
- 39:52Speaker 6: of stadiums.
- 39:53Speaker 3: In the league now.
- 39:53Speaker 6: And how much they care and how much they bring
- 39:56Speaker 6: it's fun.
- 39:57Speaker 1: It felt like basically everybody was rooting for you guys,
- 39:59Speaker 1: especially when you won the division. Town you saw the
- 40:01Speaker 1: stadium's reaction. Yeah, I feel like everybody else around the
- 40:05Speaker 1: country was buying into the Lions.
- 40:06Speaker 6: Yeah, dude, it felt good. I wouldn't have known until
- 40:09Speaker 6: the offseason, had a lot of people being like, hey man,
- 40:11Speaker 6: my team was out of it. So I was rude
- 40:12Speaker 6: for you guys. All right, thanks, but yeah, our fans
- 40:16Speaker 6: deserve it.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Man.
- 40:16Speaker 6: They've been through a lot here and we were able
- 40:18Speaker 6: to give him a little slice of joy last year
- 40:20Speaker 6: and weren't able to finish it off like we wanted to.
- 40:22Speaker 6: But it was a it was a fun ride.
- 40:25Speaker 4: They mean to the playing the Rams in the playoffs,
- 40:28Speaker 4: first meeting Stafford's coming back. He's getting booed in the building.
- 40:32Speaker 4: It's essentially to get back game for both of you guys.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Because everyone who goes places for a team and they
- 40:37Speaker 4: leave go somewhere else. Ben Jones is always the guy
- 40:39Speaker 4: comes to mind he played for the Texans, came to
- 40:40Speaker 4: the Titans, and every time we played the Texans, it
- 40:43Speaker 4: just meant a little bit more Like what was that
- 40:45Speaker 4: weak like for you leading up to that with everything
- 40:47Speaker 4: on the line.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 40:48Speaker 6: It was certainly there was emotions with it, and that
- 40:50Speaker 6: was the battle for me was to kind of fight
- 40:52Speaker 6: those and focus on what was important and winning the game.
- 40:55Speaker 6: And that became easy really when I just thought about
- 40:58Speaker 6: like what that game meant to this city, kind of
- 41:00Speaker 6: what we had just talked about in these fans. Like,
- 41:02Speaker 6: sure it was important for me and there was a
- 41:04Speaker 6: lot of storylines for myself, but these guys you know
- 41:07Speaker 6: around here that that we hadn't won a playoff game
- 41:10Speaker 6: in thirty something years, it was so much bigger than me,
- 41:12Speaker 6: and that was easy for me to like focus on
- 41:13Speaker 6: that instead and take a lot of the you know, uh,
- 41:17Speaker 6: pressure or whatever off off of my performance in the
- 41:20Speaker 6: game and just go out there and play.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Does that kind of happen like once you just kind
- 41:23Speaker 1: of complete your first pass and get into it. It did,
- 41:25Speaker 1: because I would assume.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Yeah, pregame was weird and like like the channing and
- 41:28Speaker 6: like all that, there was like a lot of stuff
- 41:29Speaker 6: going on, and like, you know, I've seen a lot
- 41:31Speaker 6: of my former teammates and a lot of my good friends,
- 41:33Speaker 6: former coaches, and you know you're gonna see them, but
- 41:35Speaker 6: like until you see them and have those moments, you're like,
- 41:37Speaker 6: all right, I gotta go through that and see these guys.
- 41:39Speaker 6: And but yeah, once the first snap and through the
- 41:42Speaker 6: first completion, it was, it was all go from there.
- 41:44Speaker 4: What was the feeling like being traded in the situation?
- 41:47Speaker 4: I mean, you took the ramps to the Super Bowl,
- 41:49Speaker 4: you gus had a lot of success and then they're
- 41:51Speaker 4: essentially the lines are giving up Stafford and they're they're
- 41:54Speaker 4: taking you. How is what was your like thought process
- 41:57Speaker 4: going it? Was there a morning process at all?
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there was.
- 42:00Speaker 7: It was.
- 42:00Speaker 6: It was certainly a shock at first. You know, there
- 42:03Speaker 6: wasn't much conversation Ad with me, and I've I've told
- 42:06Speaker 6: this story one hundred times, but there there was just
- 42:10Speaker 6: no true communication. And there's been a lot of a
- 42:16Speaker 6: lot of talk since then, which has mended some of that,
- 42:19Speaker 6: but there wasn't much communication. So it came as a shock.
- 42:22Speaker 6: And then you know, as soon as as soon as
- 42:24Speaker 6: I talked to Brad and Dan, which was that night.
- 42:26Speaker 6: It flipped very quickly into like, Wow, what an opportunity
- 42:30Speaker 6: I have here to be on the ground floor of
- 42:31Speaker 6: something so special and something that could be you know what.
- 42:36Speaker 6: We hope to build this into, which a super Bowl
- 42:37Speaker 6: champ and we feel like we've had some success and
- 42:40Speaker 6: done a lot of that. But the opportunity piece that
- 42:43Speaker 6: quickly came in after talking to those guys, uh, completely
- 42:46Speaker 6: changed my mentality.
- 42:47Speaker 1: You know, I was just gonna say, it always sucks
- 42:49Speaker 1: when you you've you finally taste like the teeth of
- 42:52Speaker 1: the business. It almost does a metteral level like you're
- 42:54Speaker 1: you were a high paid quarterback for LA. They were
- 42:56Speaker 1: born into you. Like even being a lower tier guy
- 43:00Speaker 1: not getting resigned by your team. There's always like, once
- 43:03Speaker 1: you taste it or you get cut and you rise,
- 43:05Speaker 1: how much of a business it is and how much
- 43:06Speaker 1: lack of conversation actually happened kind of like you're kind
- 43:09Speaker 1: of like shunned by it.
- 43:10Speaker 6: I think it's made me uh less naive, you know.
- 43:15Speaker 6: I think I think when I was younger, like it
- 43:17Speaker 6: was like, oh, they love me. You know, we signed
- 43:18Speaker 6: the extension. You know, here we go, We're going to
- 43:20Speaker 6: be together for fifteen years and everyone thinks that right,
- 43:22Speaker 6: and and you know eventually that that changes. And I
- 43:25Speaker 6: think it's a lot of my perspective to be much
- 43:28Speaker 6: better on what it is. And the relationships are important
- 43:30Speaker 6: and you and it is family and you love your guys.
- 43:32Speaker 6: But the end of the day, you do know that
- 43:34Speaker 6: there are powers that be that will do what is
- 43:37Speaker 6: in their in their minds best for the team.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Yeah, with one thing I've noticed being at this facility
- 43:43Speaker 4: and during practice, a lot of people are saying super Bowl,
- 43:45Speaker 4: super Bowl, super Bowl and usually a team that has
- 43:47Speaker 4: a success successful, what you did, it's all, but like
- 43:50Speaker 4: everyone's kind of afraid to say you want to win
- 43:52Speaker 4: a championship. What makes it so easy in this building
- 43:54Speaker 4: to make it so like freely said, because a.
- 43:56Speaker 6: Lot of times yeah, I know, I know. You mean,
- 43:58Speaker 6: we tasted it last year. I think last year, before
- 44:01Speaker 6: we had won our first playoff game in thirty years,
- 44:03Speaker 6: there was like, hey, we need to get into the
- 44:05Speaker 6: playoffs and win the playoff game, which was absolutely the
- 44:08Speaker 6: goal last year and it's still the goal now. But
- 44:11Speaker 6: I think with that being said, we do know we
- 44:14Speaker 6: are capable of more, you know, and we'll be extremely
- 44:17Speaker 6: disappointed if we're unable to accomplish either of those goals.
- 44:19Speaker 6: But it is win the division, getting the dance, win
- 44:23Speaker 6: a playoff game, you know, certainly control your home destiny,
- 44:25Speaker 6: and then win a super Bowl. And we're not afraid
- 44:28Speaker 6: to say that, like you said, And I think it's
- 44:29Speaker 6: because you know, we did taste it last year. We
- 44:31Speaker 6: were right there, we had we had played a good
- 44:32Speaker 6: game against San Francisco. They played just a little bit better,
- 44:35Speaker 6: and we're able to beat us.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, you guys haven't tasted the
- 44:40Speaker 4: playoffs for thirty years, right last year, Let's just say
- 44:43Speaker 4: you get in the first round of the playoffs and
- 44:45Speaker 4: you guys won the division, but you lose the first
- 44:46Speaker 4: round of the playoffs. Are you still saying, hey, successful
- 44:49Speaker 4: season like we've last year, key off of our back? Yeah, like, no,
- 44:53Speaker 4: you're not thinking.
- 44:53Speaker 6: That, gosh, No, No, it was winning a playoff game.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Winning a playoff game.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Yeah, they had been to the playoffs here in the
- 44:59Speaker 6: last I don't know how many years when it was
- 45:01Speaker 6: the last time, but since I've been here, we hadn't been.
- 45:04Speaker 6: But we it was winning a playoff game. And be sure,
- 45:07Speaker 6: we were able to get that monkey off our back.
- 45:09Speaker 6: But once we, you know, won that first playoff game,
- 45:12Speaker 6: it was like, let's go win the super Bowl, and
- 45:13Speaker 6: that was our goal for those next following three weeks,
- 45:15Speaker 6: and we came up short and and so then the
- 45:17Speaker 6: last six months has been let's go win a super Bowl.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Would you uh, would you cut your dig off for
- 45:22Speaker 2: a super Bowl?
- 45:24Speaker 6: Man?
- 45:26Speaker 3: Hard?
- 45:27Speaker 6: I you know, I I know that's what very Well
- 45:29Speaker 6: said he would do. I'd like to. I'd like to
- 45:32Speaker 6: think that I have enough ability to do it without
- 45:38Speaker 6: doing that. I had the belief in myself that I
- 45:41Speaker 6: don't have to do that. So I'm going to say no,
- 45:42Speaker 6: because I'm going to do it without having to do that.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Well said. Well said, how about a pinky toe?
- 45:47Speaker 6: Oh, I don't know if I'd be able to. I
- 45:50Speaker 6: want to be able to play after that, like a
- 45:53Speaker 6: super Bowl. No, cause again, like I got my pinky toe,
- 45:56Speaker 6: I can I can win. I can win a few more.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, modern medicine technology.
- 46:00Speaker 6: Sew it back on. If I can sew it back on,
- 46:04Speaker 6: can I sew it back on?
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yes?
- 46:05Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 46:05Speaker 6: Sure?
- 46:06Speaker 3: All right?
- 46:06Speaker 6: Now I keep playing and I'll go hopefully win more.
- 46:09Speaker 2: I love that. Those are my questions. That's all you have,
- 46:11Speaker 2: That's all I have.
- 46:12Speaker 6: I'm sewing the pinky toe back on just to be
- 46:14Speaker 6: you're sing the pink yeah not not not the other deal.
- 46:17Speaker 4: I don't know how familiar with Bustle Boys, but we
- 46:19Speaker 4: have segments, and a segment is called shout out, no
- 46:20Speaker 4: free shout out, and usually it's just like the simple
- 46:22Speaker 4: pleasures in life, like uh, you know, someone brought up
- 46:26Speaker 4: a good one the other day. It was like at
- 46:27Speaker 4: school and it's the cold water fountain, right, that's a
- 46:29Speaker 4: shout out, no free shout. But we're gonna a little
- 46:31Speaker 4: more specific because we are training camp, so I want
- 46:33Speaker 4: to hear shout out no free shout outs to like
- 46:36Speaker 4: little pleasures of training camp. We can go first, break
- 46:39Speaker 4: the ice.
- 46:39Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 46:40Speaker 6: But I wanted you to thought about it today. Did
- 46:43Speaker 6: you really sorry if this? And this is so on
- 46:45Speaker 6: the nose for busting with the boys, but like the downtime,
- 46:50Speaker 6: the in between meetings, like coaches are watching film, we're
- 46:53Speaker 6: down where you either eating lunch or we're just doing nothing,
- 46:56Speaker 6: just hanging like with the boys. And I know it's
- 46:59Speaker 6: like so on the nose, but like today, earlier we
- 47:01Speaker 6: had it. You know, a half hour to kill in
- 47:03Speaker 6: the quarterback room, just kind of hanging talking, chat and
- 47:05Speaker 6: doing nothing, and that those are the best times.
- 47:07Speaker 4: I think camaraderie can't beat camaraderie.
- 47:09Speaker 6: Can't beat it, and this is when it's built. And
- 47:10Speaker 6: I do think Dan is aware of that and knows
- 47:13Speaker 6: we have downtime and hopes we're building that camaraderie.
- 47:15Speaker 7: I love it.
- 47:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, when you get a surprise uh practice
- 47:21Speaker 1: off the entire team, like you do, you do the
- 47:22Speaker 1: morning practice and they cancel walks through in the afternoon.
- 47:25Speaker 3: We have yet to have that.
- 47:26Speaker 6: And I'm not just started.
- 47:27Speaker 2: You guys just started.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Oh You've yet to have.
- 47:29Speaker 6: It since since I've been a Lion.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Oh.
- 47:31Speaker 6: So I don't think that's in the cards for us.
- 47:34Speaker 1: But just know that players love players do love it
- 47:37Speaker 1: when you practice in the morning and then they cancel
- 47:39Speaker 1: walks through in the afternoon. Just for anybody Coach Campbell listening.
- 47:42Speaker 4: Yeah, that is a hell of a one. I have two,
- 47:45Speaker 4: and I hate to be an attention horror.
- 47:47Speaker 2: One is.
- 47:50Speaker 4: One is rookie antics in the sense that like you
- 47:53Speaker 4: get into the dog days a camp and then in
- 47:55Speaker 4: the morning you and a veteran kind of hit a
- 47:57Speaker 4: rookie with hey, I heard today's movie day, I can't
- 47:59Speaker 4: just go to be canceled. And then you kind of
- 48:02Speaker 4: just plant that seed and then slowly but surely, during
- 48:05Speaker 4: like wall the team meetings taking place before practice, there
- 48:08Speaker 4: becomes like a hey you here, someone will come to
- 48:10Speaker 4: if you hear them. I have a movie today, and
- 48:12Speaker 4: just watching that rumor spread knowing good and well that's
- 48:14Speaker 4: not gonna happen, but kind of just ruined the teams
- 48:16Speaker 4: entire practice. That is fun and.
- 48:19Speaker 2: I enjoyed like ruining stuff this morning.
- 48:22Speaker 4: You were a fun joke. It's a fun joke.
- 48:24Speaker 6: You were start a fight on purpose, try to get
- 48:26Speaker 6: practice canceled.
- 48:27Speaker 4: No joint practice personally joint practice. There's been a couple
- 48:31Speaker 4: of you kind of a couple of pushing shoves and
- 48:32Speaker 4: you're just hoping that things get so out of hand
- 48:34Speaker 4: that they're like, we're done. We're guys in the weight room.
- 48:36Speaker 4: Get a pump and you're like, yeah, that's really gonna
- 48:38Speaker 4: hurt my feelings a pump right now. My other shout
- 48:40Speaker 4: out is cloud coverage. We've had any time you get
- 48:45Speaker 4: outside and it's dog days, you're in the high eighties
- 48:49Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden, clouds just start rolling
- 48:52Speaker 4: through and that you have a nice breeze during practice
- 48:54Speaker 4: Like that is a godsend.
- 48:55Speaker 6: We've had two of those in a row now and
- 48:57Speaker 6: it's been we don't we're not counting on them. There
- 49:00Speaker 6: it's coming. The humidity is coming. But we've had two
- 49:02Speaker 6: good ones.
- 49:03Speaker 4: The weather that's today perfect, spoiled.
- 49:05Speaker 2: The first cold water on a hot day. I love.
- 49:09Speaker 2: We're just doing the little luxuries.
- 49:12Speaker 4: Yeah, let's keep it going. What's that the salt? Oh yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 4: I think it's a fun prank that kind of lives.
- 49:19Speaker 4: And I'm a nasty boy, but when you're.
- 49:22Speaker 2: At a Taylor's.
- 49:23Speaker 1: We were at breakfast today and Taylor like unscrewed the
- 49:25Speaker 1: salt to leave it for the next person was but
- 49:28Speaker 1: not for any of the boys, like any of the friends.
- 49:29Speaker 2: It was just for whoever was going to show up
- 49:31Speaker 2: next to in our chafter.
- 49:32Speaker 4: No, No, that would have been funny to Yeah, that would
- 49:35Speaker 4: have seen your laughing.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because you're around training camp, like you're around
- 49:39Speaker 1: the fellas. But we're talking just you know another family.
- 49:42Speaker 6: That Oh no, that's not good. No, you framed it. No,
- 49:46Speaker 6: it's funny if you're just doing it. If you're just
- 49:49Speaker 6: doing it like to leave some chaos behind you, that's
- 49:50Speaker 6: not cool. Well if you're doing it to your buddy,
- 49:56Speaker 6: yeah that's great.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's how we were explaining it. No, you
- 49:58Speaker 1: guys are right, but it reminded me because it's like
- 50:02Speaker 1: the same same thing.
- 50:03Speaker 4: I almost say it to you.
- 50:04Speaker 7: At lunch.
- 50:06Speaker 2: With what though to catch up?
- 50:08Speaker 4: Could have been that JP and I are in the
- 50:10Speaker 4: corner kind of talking about the salt thing, and then
- 50:12Speaker 4: everyone was so angry. I thought it's gonna ruin everything.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Shoutowt, no free, shout out.
- 50:17Speaker 1: When you get a small enough injury that you know
- 50:20Speaker 1: it's not that bad, but you get to miss a
- 50:22Speaker 1: day of practice.
- 50:23Speaker 6: Hey, is that not I've never had one of those,
- 50:26Speaker 6: but yeah, I can see I can see.
- 50:27Speaker 2: That quarterback to where the jersey they get to wear
- 50:30Speaker 2: the jersey.
- 50:30Speaker 6: I can see that being up your alley.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Shout out, no free, shout out. Coach pulling you to
- 50:35Speaker 4: the side and being like, we're gonna temple a couple
- 50:37Speaker 4: of reps for you today.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Shoutowt.
- 50:39Speaker 1: If we shout out, you're in the preseason game, you
- 50:41Speaker 1: think you're playing and coach like, hey, take your that's.
- 50:44Speaker 4: The best one. That is the best like a surprise way. Yes, God, dude,
- 50:51Speaker 4: shoutowt know ifree, shout out. When you're done playing in
- 50:52Speaker 4: a preseason game and the boys have the pads up
- 50:54Speaker 4: and you're eating the seeds and you have the best
- 50:57Speaker 4: seats in the house.
- 50:58Speaker 1: But you kind of have to sneak it because you
- 50:59Speaker 1: don't disrespect what's happening out there.
- 51:01Speaker 4: No, you're just you're chat with the boys and you're
- 51:03Speaker 4: watching the bucket hat on the guys.
- 51:05Speaker 2: For sure, I'm with you.
- 51:06Speaker 4: When that guy comes. You just got to get a
- 51:08Speaker 4: little more vertical. You're fine.
- 51:09Speaker 6: The home preseason game at one o'clock is a good one. Yes,
- 51:13Speaker 6: the home we have one of those this year. I
- 51:15Speaker 6: think it's the last one. That's the good one.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Hot dogs at halftime, yeah, I across the bulls.
- 51:19Speaker 2: You're not hot dog guys.
- 51:22Speaker 6: I mean, I don't want to Lizzy, you know, I
- 51:23Speaker 6: like dogs like Lizzies. I'm not trying to be disrespectful
- 51:26Speaker 6: like all the guys.
- 51:27Speaker 2: That's why you go in the equipment ring halftime.
- 51:30Speaker 1: You go back to you're hiding it and it's gone.
- 51:34Speaker 6: Yeah, were you doing that.
- 51:36Speaker 1: What do you mean you're about to I want to
- 51:42Speaker 1: know what he means by the question. He could be
- 51:43Speaker 1: meaning like, did you get off time during your preseason game?
- 51:45Speaker 2: Is that what you meant? Motherfucker did?
- 51:48Speaker 3: No?
- 51:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I had a couple of years there. Well I
- 51:50Speaker 2: didn't get in some preseason games.
- 51:51Speaker 6: Now I do like the hot dogs, the equipment guys
- 51:58Speaker 6: hook you up. It's nice.
- 51:59Speaker 4: Yeah, man, hey, why col h Well, I grew.
- 52:03Speaker 6: Up in the Bay.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Did nobody else offer you?
- 52:05Speaker 6: I only had three offers state It was Cal it
- 52:07Speaker 6: was Fresno State and Boise State at four in Washington State,
- 52:11Speaker 6: and both my parents went to Cal. So I grew
- 52:14Speaker 6: up a Cal fan, and yeah, I was kind of
- 52:16Speaker 6: the only option I had that was good academics, I guess.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's way to put it.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Were you like a small link your kid that just
- 52:24Speaker 2: didn't have the Yeah, yeah I was.
- 52:25Speaker 3: I was.
- 52:26Speaker 6: I was like shit, I was like one hundred and
- 52:28Speaker 6: eighty five pounds, played as a true freshman there and
- 52:30Speaker 6: was like so skinny.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Yeah, great place. Berkeley is awesome.
- 52:35Speaker 3: It is cool.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Never been gorgeous out there, never.
- 52:37Speaker 4: Been Golden Bears. Yeah, there you go, extinct acc col
- 52:43Speaker 4: Bears they're in the ACC.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, are they really triving to play Miami in
- 52:47Speaker 6: North Carolina?
- 52:48Speaker 2: That kind of sucks, right, It's a lot of flying.
- 52:50Speaker 6: It's a lot of flying.
- 52:51Speaker 4: It's a lot of flying.
- 52:52Speaker 6: Tough you guys, You guys just get to stick in
- 52:54Speaker 6: the big ten and just keep on rolling off. All
- 52:56Speaker 6: these other guys had the move.
- 52:57Speaker 4: When you run the country, brother, you do what you want.
- 52:58Speaker 7: That's right.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Speaking up.
- 53:01Speaker 4: You're in a state that's very divided from a college standpoint.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Who do you side with Michigan State?
- 53:05Speaker 6: Michigan? Yeah No, And that was not just because you're
- 53:08Speaker 6: sitting here. Yeah, And it's just because where I live
- 53:11Speaker 6: in nearby here, it's a lot of a lot of
- 53:13Speaker 6: Michigan alum. Yeah, And so I don't I really don't
- 53:16Speaker 6: know many Michigan State alum.
- 53:18Speaker 4: There's not a whole bunch of them.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Will be honest with you, they don't. They don't graduate.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Have you usually drop out?
- 53:23Speaker 6: You got a relationship with Eminem I've I've I've met
- 53:27Speaker 6: him once here at practice and then saw him at
- 53:28Speaker 6: the draft night and that's about it. But yeah, he's
- 53:30Speaker 6: been great to me.
- 53:30Speaker 2: You're more of a kid rock guy.
- 53:38Speaker 6: Yeah, kid's great.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Kid's great. I don't have it.
- 53:43Speaker 6: I've uh, I have a similar relationship with both of them.
- 53:46Speaker 6: I've chatted a couple of Uh.
- 53:49Speaker 2: No, have you listened to the new album em m YEA. Yeah,
- 53:52Speaker 2: I think it's a good favorite song.
- 53:53Speaker 3: I like it.
- 53:55Speaker 6: I think it's called bad Bad one, Yeah, bad one,
- 53:58Speaker 6: Yeah that one.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good one. Solid real quick.
- 54:01Speaker 4: That skit you did with those uh simming pro kids.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Yeah we're getting the fingers. Just say we get this one,
- 54:07Speaker 2: we get this one off, Yeah, we get this one.
- 54:08Speaker 3: We're good, Yeah, we get this one.
- 54:10Speaker 4: How hard was it for you to buy into that
- 54:12Speaker 4: and not just tell everybody that they was some professional
- 54:14Speaker 4: football player?
- 54:14Speaker 6: Yeah, dude, it was crazy, like they the whole week,
- 54:17Speaker 6: they had set cameras there to try to like tell
- 54:19Speaker 6: them they were on like some sort of last chance
- 54:21Speaker 6: to you, I guess, And so it was. It was
- 54:23Speaker 6: they were fake cameras. So then when I showed up,
- 54:25Speaker 6: it wasn't like all of a sudden there was cameras
- 54:27Speaker 6: and yeah, I get there, and I thought, to be honest,
- 54:30Speaker 6: I thought like it was gonna get sniffed out quicker.
- 54:32Speaker 6: But I had a bunch of like stuff on my face,
- 54:34Speaker 6: and a couple of kids did like kind of figure
- 54:37Speaker 6: it out pretty quickly, but most of them didn't. And
- 54:39Speaker 6: and the best was messing around with the quarterbacks because
- 54:41Speaker 6: that's kind of like the comments that I was giving
- 54:43Speaker 6: them is comments I've received, Yeah, are you the punter?
- 54:46Speaker 6: Like are you oh, you know, that's why they brought
- 54:48Speaker 6: me here, like from like transfers or whatnot. Yeah, And
- 54:51Speaker 6: so it was really easy to act out because it
- 54:53Speaker 6: was all stuff I've kind of experienced, and it was funny,
- 54:55Speaker 6: it was it was good.
