- 1:11Speaker 3: That's true. Yeah, because you don't see it, you don't
- 1:13Speaker 3: have to see it.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Yeah, you can imagine.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the day the days are coming when the two
- 1:18Speaker 2: lines are gonna blur, I think. But you know what,
- 1:21Speaker 2: until that day comes, we'll enjoy our pajamas.
- 1:24Speaker 3: And if you're.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Working, then I'm wearing mine.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But yes, right, And if you're working from home today

- 1:36Speaker 2: joy is contagious and we should spread it and stay
- 1:40Speaker 2: right there because coming up, chilli, what are you working on?
- 1:42Speaker 2: With the news? Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 1:44Speaker 4: A sleep expert warns everybody not to do this one thing.
- 1:49Speaker 4: If you wake up in the middle of the night,
- 1:51Speaker 4: we'll tell you what that is coming up in just
- 1:53Speaker 4: a few minutes.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Jet Republicans have once again blocked a democratic effort to
- 2:03Speaker 4: limit the president's war powers. The move comes as the
- 2:06Speaker 4: President claims a conflict with Iran is nearing an end.
- 2:10Speaker 4: There's a viral audio clip that appears to capture pilots
- 2:13Speaker 4: who are making animal sounds over an air traffic control
- 2:17Speaker 4: frequency near Reagan National Airport. The FAA is now investigating,
- 2:22Speaker 4: noting that non essential communication during critical flight phases is prohibited.
- 2:28Speaker 4: A sixteen year old boy has been arrested in connection
- 2:30Speaker 4: with vandalism at a beth Asda elementary school, where graffiti
- 2:34Speaker 4: referencing the Sandy Hook shooter was found. Police say the
- 2:38Speaker 4: incident prompted increased security as the investigation continues. Arlington officials
- 2:43Speaker 4: unveiled the rebuilt Columbia Pike after years of construction in
- 2:47Speaker 4: about two hundred million dollars in upgrades, much of it
- 2:51Speaker 4: underground utility work. The project also added wider sidewalks and
- 2:55Speaker 4: transit improvements, although some say the lengthy construction hurt local business.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Is a massive new event is headed to DC as
- 3:03Speaker 4: the Great American State Fair plans to take over the
- 3:06Speaker 4: National Mall for sixteen days. Organizers say it's going to
- 3:09Speaker 4: bring food, rides, and attractions from across the country. The
- 3:13Speaker 4: Washington Commanders. They unveiled their new uniforms yesterday, featuring updated
- 3:17Speaker 4: burgundy and white looks that were inspired by past Super
- 3:21Speaker 4: Bowl eras, along with a black alternate design that is
- 3:25Speaker 4: drawing attention from fans. And waking up during the night
- 3:29Speaker 4: briefly we all know is normal, but a sleep expert
- 3:32Speaker 4: says that checking the time can make it tougher to
- 3:35Speaker 4: fall back asleep. That's because focusing on how much time
- 3:38Speaker 4: is left can increase our stress and make the rest
- 3:42Speaker 4: of the night less RESTful. Forecast for today another hot day,
- 3:46Speaker 4: partly cloudy. High's near ninety two right now sixty seven
- 3:50Speaker 4: in False Church.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And that is the news.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Remember with Toby and Chilly in the morning, you get
- 3:54Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour and coming
- 3:56Speaker 2: up in just minutes. One of the best parts of
- 3:58Speaker 2: the morning, at least, I think it's when we focus
- 4:01Speaker 2: on you and how you are doing today with your
- 4:04Speaker 2: morning mindset, a quote that we hope will inspire you
- 4:07Speaker 2: to have a better day, might turn your day around,
- 4:09Speaker 2: maybe even your week around. And we'll get to that
- 4:12Speaker 2: coming up in minutes. Don't move Washington's variety of the
- 4:17Speaker 2: eighties not hiss aunt today with Toby and Chilly in
- 4:19Speaker 2: the morning. It is ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 4:22Speaker 4: This is where we pause and share a quote to
- 4:24Speaker 4: get you into a good morning mindset as you take
- 4:27Speaker 4: on the rest of a new work day.
- 4:28Speaker 3: So breathe this in from Rihanna. That's right from Rihanna.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Actually the maym trying to say her name, right, Rihanna, Rihanna,
- 4:36Speaker 2: Your life isn't yours if you constantly care what others think,
- 4:41Speaker 2: Rihanna says. Your life isn't yours if you constantly care
- 4:45Speaker 2: what others think. Now, this I think is important for
- 4:49Speaker 2: us to remember because true freedom comes from letting go
- 4:53Speaker 2: of outside opinions. The loudest voice you need to listen
- 4:57Speaker 2: to is the voice inside you. Your life is not
- 5:00Speaker 2: yours if you constantly care what others think. Rihanna with
- 5:04Speaker 2: your morning mindset today, if it helped, share it with
- 5:07Speaker 2: someone who may need it. You can find it on
- 5:09Speaker 2: our install social Facebook, all of these things, and if
- 5:13Speaker 2: you've got something that inspires you, feel free to send
- 5:15Speaker 2: it to our way you can find us.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Toby and Chilipage waschfm dot com. Now stay right there
- 5:20Speaker 3: because coming up in just a few minutes, as we
- 5:22Speaker 3: continue this little excursion through Thursday.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Well, when do you think kids should be able to
- 5:27Speaker 4: have total control of all their money? You may be
- 5:31Speaker 4: surprised what age parents say, but we would love to
- 5:34Speaker 4: hear your thoughts on this right now.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
- 5:39Speaker 2: is the number in talkbacks wide open too. If you're
- 5:41Speaker 2: signed in on your iHeart app and you feel like
- 5:44Speaker 2: you need to just speak out now, go ahead, send
- 5:47Speaker 2: us that voice note and we'll talk. Coming up question
- 5:50Speaker 2: for you and by the way, you can answer it
- 5:52Speaker 2: now at eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
- 5:55Speaker 2: sixty one. Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety
- 5:57Speaker 2: seven point one WASCHFM when should the kids be able
- 6:00Speaker 2: to have control total control of.
- 6:03Speaker 3: All their money?
- 6:05Speaker 2: There's a new survey out and it kind of dug
- 6:08Speaker 2: into what parents really think about this.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Some of the highlights.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Savings account should be around the age of thirteen, debit
- 6:15Speaker 4: cards at fifteen and a half, checking accounts at age sixteen,
- 6:18Speaker 4: and credit cards by seventeen and a half. Lord, your
- 6:21Speaker 4: daughter is an adult now, though, like when did she
- 6:24Speaker 4: have a credit card to her name?
- 6:25Speaker 2: I want to think that she got her credit card
- 6:27Speaker 2: a Discover card by the way, when she was in college,
- 6:30Speaker 2: like her second year, because I think she got some mails.
- 6:33Speaker 3: She opened it and she was like, oh, I'll try
- 6:34Speaker 3: out for that.
- 6:35Speaker 4: She did it herself. Okay, what about debit? How old
- 6:38Speaker 4: was she with the.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Debit when she was a freshman in high school?
- 6:41Speaker 4: And I really think it's a case by case. If
- 6:43Speaker 4: you have a responsible kid, it could be younger. If
- 6:45Speaker 4: you've got a kid that doesn't really quite value the dollar,
- 6:49Speaker 4: like maybe Minehu, I think we're probably going to wait
- 6:51Speaker 4: a lot longer to get no credit card in his hands.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I have no doubt that when the time comes that
- 6:57Speaker 3: your son gets one, it's going to be on and
- 7:00Speaker 3: popping and he's not going to mess around at all. Right,
- 7:03Speaker 3: it's ninety seven point one wash FM. So when should
- 7:06Speaker 3: the kids be able to have total control of all
- 7:09Speaker 3: of their money? Good morning in Saverna Park, Gary, What
- 7:12Speaker 3: you got?
- 7:12Speaker 6: I think they shouldn't have complete control over their money
- 7:14Speaker 6: until they're at least eighteen and have had a talk
- 7:17Speaker 6: with their parents about budgeting and saving.
- 7:19Speaker 4: That's a really good point. I think that talk is
- 7:22Speaker 4: very important.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Oh the things I wish I would have done in retrospect.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Thank you, Gary, Hey Connie, good morning in Ashburn. What
- 7:30Speaker 2: do you think about this?
- 7:31Speaker 4: I'd say around sixteen, but with training wheels.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Like a bike.
- 7:35Speaker 4: What would that look like or what does that look like?
- 7:37Speaker 7: My daughter gets full control of her part time job money,
- 7:40Speaker 7: but if he blows it all on clothes in one weekend,
- 7:42Speaker 7: then that's on her.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Right too bad, so sad.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Well, natural consequences are the lessons.
- 7:48Speaker 2: She'll be sitting on her tail at home because she's
- 7:51Speaker 2: too broke to go out with her friends. Easier said
- 7:54Speaker 2: than done, though, We're Toby and Chilly in the Morning.

- 9:33Speaker 4: monopoly over major concert venues and a major antitrust case
- 9:37Speaker 4: that was brought on by thirty three states and DC.

- 10:14Speaker 4: Leaders in Montgomery County are weighing potential tax hikes as
- 10:18Speaker 4: they negotiate a nearly eight billion dollar budget, including a
- 10:21Speaker 4: proposed property tax increase of just under six percent to
- 10:25Speaker 4: fully fund public schools. The plan also includes spending on
- 10:28Speaker 4: public safety, housing, and economic development. The baby elephant born
- 10:34Speaker 4: at the Smithsonian National Zoo is meeting fans for the
- 10:37Speaker 4: first time, with some members getting early access to see
- 10:40Speaker 4: Linn may ahead of her public debut next week. That's
- 10:44Speaker 4: April twenty second. The two and a half month old
- 10:46Speaker 4: is the zoo's first Asian elephant born in nearly twenty
- 10:50Speaker 4: five years. And a new survey shows that more Americans
- 10:54Speaker 4: are making coffee at home, with eighty five percent brewing
- 10:58Speaker 4: their own the previous day. That's the highest rate in
- 11:02Speaker 4: over a decade. Experts say hybrid work, rising prices, and

- 12:19Speaker 4: know what you're going to put that towards yet?
- 12:21Speaker 3: College?
- 12:22Speaker 4: Oh? Paying off your daughter's stet? Very nice?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yep. Can you tell I'm feeling some sort of way
- 12:28Speaker 3: about it?
- 12:28Speaker 4: Well, we have one thing in common. Ours is going
- 12:31Speaker 4: towards paying for my son's occupational therapy.
- 12:34Speaker 7: So it's for our kids, Toby. It's full to key,
- 12:38Speaker 7: that's right. I mean, as much as I wish I
- 12:42Speaker 7: was putting it toward other bills. Yes, there's one gigantic bill.
- 12:46Speaker 7: Just looking at me and brooding, Oh lord, what are

- 13:06Speaker 4: be cheaper.
- 13:07Speaker 3: That's right.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And living downtown in Navy Yard, it'll probably be a
- 13:10Speaker 2: lot easy for you to find parking spaces.
- 13:13Speaker 4: So true.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yes, you're like the hero of the Bowser administration right
- 13:16Speaker 2: about now. Good for you, Daniel. Hannah, good morning, and

- 13:48Speaker 3: and stay with Tobe and Chile in the morning because
- 13:50Speaker 3: coming up next you gonna learn something that's been making
- 13:53Speaker 3: the rounds on TikTok.
- 13:55Speaker 4: It's called the chair theory. People are using it to
- 13:57Speaker 4: explain how to tell whether you really bel long in
- 14:00Speaker 4: the friendship circle you're in.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Or really any relationship. Stay there and we'll learn about
- 14:05Speaker 2: it together. Next Toby and Chilly in the morning. Toby
- 14:08Speaker 2: and Chilly in the Morning at ninety seven point one,
- 14:11Speaker 2: watch Chef m or if you're not careful when you listen,
- 14:13Speaker 2: you might just learn something. And today we're going to
- 14:16Speaker 2: learn together about this chair theory that's making the rounds
- 14:20Speaker 2: on TikTok.
- 14:21Speaker 4: It's a simple metaphor that people are using to explain
- 14:24Speaker 4: how to tell whether you really belong in a friendship
- 14:27Speaker 4: or really any relationship. So imagine everyone in your life
- 14:31Speaker 4: is sitting at a table, okay, and if somebody genuinely
- 14:34Speaker 4: wants you there, they're going to pull out a chair
- 14:36Speaker 4: for you without you having to ask for it, meaning
- 14:38Speaker 4: that they're going to include you, invite you, respond to
- 14:41Speaker 4: your messages, make you feel welcome, and if you don't,
- 14:44Speaker 4: you're pretty much being left out. And if you think
- 14:47Speaker 4: about this, like in everyday things, it can group chats.
- 14:50Speaker 4: If you are being left out of plans or ignored
- 14:53Speaker 4: in those chats, or if you feel like you have
- 14:56Speaker 4: to shrink yourself to stay in the friend group, probably
- 15:00Speaker 4: not the right group for you.
- 15:01Speaker 3: The chair theory can be applied to anything really in life.
- 15:05Speaker 3: You know, you think about it.
- 15:06Speaker 2: You're around different colleagues and coworkers at work, and you
- 15:09Speaker 2: know they're talking with everybody, but you.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Right here, like just standing there awkwardly.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and it is awkward.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Same thing goes with your friend group, or like people
- 15:18Speaker 2: that are acquaintances from different organizations you might be a
- 15:21Speaker 2: part of, you know, like church or anything.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Really, when you're in a moment of a chair theory
- 15:26Speaker 4: moment where people aren't metaphorically pulling out a chair for you,
- 15:29Speaker 4: do you just leave the room or do you make
- 15:31Speaker 4: it known that hey, I'm here too, Hello, anybody gonna
- 15:34Speaker 4: get me a chair? Do you call them out on it?
- 15:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't say that I call them out on it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I just really just kind of go quiet. What do
- 15:40Speaker 2: you do the first time?
- 15:41Speaker 4: I'm you know, giving the benefit of the doubt, and
- 15:43Speaker 4: i just roll up into the conversation or remind my
- 15:46Speaker 4: friends and I'm still around, and if it continues to happen,
- 15:49Speaker 4: then I'll just exit. I'm like y'all have spoken loud
- 15:52Speaker 4: and clear.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Thank you, as she turns around and leaves the room.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Why because y'all never offered me a chair. Doses and
- 15:59Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen, and that is the chair theory. Want
- 16:02Speaker 2: to go deeper, you can Toby in Chilipage, washfm dot com.
- 16:05Speaker 2: All right, Top Stories is the top of the hour
- 16:07Speaker 2: on the way in just minutes. What are you working on?
