Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jack Horse fans, welcome in to Duval, daily presented by jing Jack.com and fuel by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking quarterbacks NFL, top 10 quarterback rankings per ESPNRN.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're going through every position group they've already done runningbacks.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Cornerbacks, Ed Russers, defensive tackles, tight ends.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive tackles, which I missed.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have to go back and look at that one.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Interior offensive linemen as well.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're talking quarterback.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is obviously have a MVP finalist and former first overall pick.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: $55 million quarterback, Trevor Lawrence on their roster.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: More than 70 voters, according to ESPN submitted a ballot.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: And these voters are
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, anonymous scouts, coaches, front office folks, it's, it's a big list of people who, who they kind of pull together to figure out these rankings.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence once again, Jacksonville Jaguars once again, this respect and Trevor Lawrence not in the top 10.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: He did make honorable mention.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about this list and I'm going to offer my list.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: tiered list.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think doing tiers is generally the right way to do things when you're thinking about rankings.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we've done.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's 17 quarterbacks mentioned on this list, whether it's the top 10 honorable mention or also received about 17 of those players.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I ranked and tiered each of those players
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll go ahead and take a look at the ESPN list real quick first and then I'll talk about my thoughts.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll just check out jingyak.com pick up some new dov all gear.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll also hit that hype button helps out a ton.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know in the comment section where you think Trevor Lawrence belongs, whether it's top 10, whatever number it is.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: One through wherever.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you think.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: So Josh Allen on surprisingly comes in at one.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick Mahomes comes in at two, not surprising.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Matthew Stafford at three, Joe Burrow at four, and they do not tear-rank this.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just, you know, in order here, you have to kind of guess your tears if you're just going through it on your own.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Five little more Jackson, six-dak Prescott, seven just in a Herbert, eight Drake May, nine Jared Goff, ten Caleb Williams,
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Honorable mentions, Sam Donald, Jaden Daniels, Jordan Love, Brock Perty, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: This is what a veteran AFC offensive coach had to say about Trevor Lawrence.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: He has controlled his turn over and just has a better understanding of what Stephens is trying to do against him.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: He plays better ball when the offensive infrastructure in personnel around him set him up for success, instead of asking him to do everything on his own, he did a lot on his own
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen did a nice job in the year one of giving him the answers to the test pre-snap.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he also put him in a position to figure out and get to the answers.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't just giving him answers, please.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now, there was so much that Trevor Lawrence had to do at the line of scrimmage to get the Jaguars in the right spot to answer the question to the test with all those cans and changing the plays that line of scrimmage and all that.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's reasonably fair.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Murray's not too happy.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit of stormy.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: afternoon here.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Murray doesn't love the thunder.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Just say hi, though.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: So the rest of the list or honorable mention would be Jalen Hertz is the last honorable mention player.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then also received votes is Bonyx, Daniel Jones and CJ Stroud.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: 17 players.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know how ESPN stacks the honorable mentions.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is Sam Darnell was the first one mentioned here, is he number 11?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make Daniels 12, love 13, pretty 14?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: May feel 15 and Lauren 16?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't know.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: They don't really share that information, but it's not like in ABC order or anything like that.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of think that that is
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: kind of where we're at.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have Trevor Lawrence at 16.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Again, a MVP finalist and a player who scored what 38 or 39 total touchdowns last year.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Let his team do a 13 and 4 record.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: No wins are not a quarterback step, but Trevor Lawrence had a lot to do with those wins.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when the Jaguars went on a heater, it was Trevor Lawrence getting it going, played unbelievable ball scored so many touchdowns, was running all over the place, was throwing all over the place, finding his receivers, I think elevating some of his receivers play as well.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's still different levels to be reached, I think, within the Jaguar's offense, four Trevor Lawrence and four the rest of the crew, going into year two of Liam Cohen's offense.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. and Trevor Lawrence trying to get that chemistry down a little bit more consistently and then building the chemistry even further with players like Jacobi Myers, who has his first off season in Jacksonville, Parker Washington, Britain Strange, Travis Hunter.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: The rookie tight ends as well, the rookie whiter severs too.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they got a couple of rookie whiter severs they drafted.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, I think that Trevor Lawrence obviously deserves to be much higher than 16 on the list.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: And again, it's not explicit that this is saying he's 16, but he's at least not out, not in the top 10, and I do think that that's a bit of folly.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should definitely be in the top 10, and I'm being honest here.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't just teal-colored glasses.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have Trevor in the top five.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's close to the top five.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: I do have him in tier two.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna go ahead and get into these tiers real quick here.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I have a very clear tier one.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, tier one is,
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: At number one, Patrick Mahomes, yes, I still have Patrick Mahomes as the number one quarterback, Josh Allen, number two, Matt Stafford, number three.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: When I compare these guys to Trevor Lawrence, I think that Mahomes and Allen clearly just have a different level of physical gifts like Allen is a unicorn absolute juggernaut, physically, both from an arm strength and arm talent perspective, and also his ability
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick Mahomes, crazy arm elasticity like his
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: ability to make plays is almost unparalleled.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's one other player who kind of gives you those vibes and it's Caleb Williams and their ability to just make absolutely mind-blowing plays.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen does too, but more so with the arm talent, the crazy acrobatics and arm elasticity, different crazy angles, all that stuff,
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So those are my top two, but I also have Matt Stafford in that, too, because I do think even though Stafford doesn't have the mobility in the athleticism, his arm is insane.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he reads the field incredibly well at this point and his career obviously up there in years, but there's been real no real decline in my opinion in his arm talent.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: It is still top tier.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's insane.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's able to make throws that most quarterbacks.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's able to make 1% throws pretty consistently.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the no-look stuff just absolute darts all over the field.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's a special quarterback.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And look, all three of these guys
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: being coached by very talented coaches as well.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's no denying that.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's my top tier.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: My next tier features five players.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it's definitely fair to say, not each of these players is unique in their own way, different points in their career.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I have Joe Burrow at four.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: I have Lamar Jackson at 5, I have Trevor Lawrence at 6, Drake, Matt, 7 and Caleb Williams at 8.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the way I'm doing this is if I had to go put together a game plan and win a football game and everything around these quarterbacks is exactly the same.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, each one of these quarterbacks has the exact same tools to go in a game.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I put together this tier list.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: So Joe Burrow, I put it number four, I think he has been incredibly gifted in terms of what he's been given from a receiver standpoint throughout his career.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I also think he's just a special quarterback.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he plays, he likes to spread it out.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: He likes to have, you know, be able to see the field from the gun, all that stuff.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's adjusted a little bit throughout his career
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's just an assassin mentally for the most part.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a decent arm, he's okay when it comes to moving around, but he's just so so
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: mentally gifted that Joe Burrow does come in at four for me.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Lamar Jackson is just one of one athlete at the quarterback position from a speed and an elusiveness standpoint.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a really good arm, just an unbelievable amount of talent, so much production in this league, and he deserves to be in the top five.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: But again, the reason I have this tier, like, okay, so tier one is
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Put the team on my shoulders, let's go.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna win the game for this team.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Tier II is, I think that we're absolutely elevating the team in a major way.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: The team is winning because of us, right?
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: But we're just not quite at that same level with those top three guys.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Murray's getting parked up here, I don't know why.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: She'll wanna say hello again.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: the Trevor Lawrence quarterback debate.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: She gets fired up about it.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I have Lawrence at six, may at seven, Williams at eight.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think that these three players obviously all three of them were in year one.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: of a new system.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, Drake, May, Caleb Williams.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think out of the three of them, Trevor Lawrence performed the most consistently down the stretch, certainly.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Williams is in a very complex, Ben John.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, all three of them, I think are in complex offenses that put a lot on the quarterback's shoulders, but I just think, whereas Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are kind of like, I don't want to call them old.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: They're not old, but like, you know,
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: considered at the top of the league for a while.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Lawrence May and Williams are kind of coming for that spot.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if I had to put together a team today, Lawrence May and Williams, I would feel just as good about having them as I would about Joe Burro or Lamar Jackson.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that's acknowledging like Caleb Williams makes a lot of mistakes, but the way he makes up for those mistakes is absolutely astonishing the same way Patrick Mahomes does in a lot of ways.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: so I would absolutely be fine with taking Caleb Williams and building around that.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Drake May reminds me a good bit of Trevor.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he plays with a little bit more swagger and confidence early on in his career than Trevor Lawrence did.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of that has to do with just the
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, infrastructure around him, not to say that Drake Mays had like elite offenses to work with around him, but he has, I think, had a little bit more of a buttoned up, you know, regime, building, coaching, certainly this year, this past year.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: So those are my top eight.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Then I have Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, Jaden Daniels,
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Love and CJ Straud, and I think all of these guys are capable of elevating their team of having really, really good offenses and playing like stars, playing like a top quarterback in the league in a given week or given stretch of football, but there's just one or two things holding me back with each of them, right?
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: For Herbert, it's, I mean, maybe he's just been snaked but throughout his career with injuries and injuries around him.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: But we've seen Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert go ahead to had a good bit and it's looked a lot better for Lawrence.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I know they don't play each other.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: But when they're on the same field, Lawrence looks like the better player.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dack Prescott.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe if they had more consistent defense in Dallas, he would be talking a little bit differently, but he doesn't have that mobility or like the insane arm.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: Think Trevor Lawrence clearly has a lot more physical.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's more physically gifted than Prescott, but Prescott has made the most of his talents, and I think plays the position in a way like he pushes the ball down the field of ton.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a fun football to watch.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: Jared Goff has just become a master of being a professional quarterback in this league.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: It took him a long time, but he's really grown, matured through some, I mean, you know, working with McVay and then Ben Johnson pretty incredible couple coaches to work with.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a lot of good offensive coaches on both of those staffs as well that helped him grow.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: But he's grown into a really good quarterback.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Jayden Daniels obviously.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see him bounce back.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan love.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's some highs.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's some lows.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, up there in Green Bay, and then CJ Stroud, I think, has been lacking the coaching.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I think if you take CJ Stroud and put him with a Ben Johnson, or, you know, insert star coach, and then CJ Stroud looks like a much better quarterback than what we've seen over the last year, year and a half, but I think that Stroud should be in that tier.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then,
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: The next year, there's like significant issues with these players, but they certainly have the ability to elevate in the right scheme in the right system.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Perti is in the perfect system for his talents.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Darnold was in the perfect system last year playing with really good talent around him at great defense, all that stuff, but I think you put him back in a spot where he doesn't have great coaching where
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: Where maybe the talent around him isn't quite as good and you see a major drop off in the play Jalen hurts You know, there's highs and lows with the passing.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's always been a great runner I just think that, you know, he belongs in this tier not the tier above at this point and then Baker may field pretty much super star with Liam Cohen
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, you've seen like a lot of average play, and then Daniel Jones, oh, you know what?
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: Bonus.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: There's 18 players mentioned.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: Bonus isn't on here.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure why, but I'll get to bonus in a second.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Daniel Jones is in the bottom tier by himself, I just don't believe in Daniel Jones.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's some physical things that are exciting, but I don't really believe in Daniel Jones.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would have bonus.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: and tier three with Herbert Prescott Goff Daniels Love Stroudnex and then the tier break to party darn on a hurts may feel but yeah Trevor Lawrence not being in the top 10.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: According to this this list this poll whatever you want to call it I think is absolutely absurd but once again this is good this is very good.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen is going to have an unlimited amount of ammo for to play the disrespect card.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: And when the Jaguars are disrespected, when the Jaguars are underrated, that is when this organization has typically been a best.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: It would be great if you're getting all the flowers in the world all that stuff right now.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: But nobody's really given the Jaguars the respect they deserve, including Trevor Lawrence here.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jags Liam Cohen
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: This entire organization can use that to fuel themselves even further, heading into 2026.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
