- 0:15Speaker 3: Woogo did you swear price?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Yes, we're back baby. We cannot be killed. Yeah. Yeah,
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're just the fungus that keeps on growing.
- 0:26Speaker 3: We knew that you chicks missed us, so welcome to.
- 0:30Speaker 2: The Financial Glow Up The twenty twenty five Money Reset.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So this is our new mini series where we are
- 0:37Speaker 2: going to discuss the ways that you can reset and
- 0:40Speaker 2: glow up your finances in twenty twenty five. These episodes
- 0:44Speaker 2: are fifteen minutes max and super simple in order to
- 0:47Speaker 2: digest and action them straight away for the new year.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So in our first episode, we're tackling the fear of
- 0:55Speaker 2: understanding your income versus expenses and figuring out where to
- 0:59Speaker 2: even start when you're feeling completely overwhelmed and spoiler, it's
- 1:03Speaker 2: not as bad as you think.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We promise, think you promise, thinky promises. All right, sau
- 1:09Speaker 1: do you want to take us away with the first.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Tip Tip number one acknowledging your fear. So let's get
- 1:17Speaker 3: into it. Talking about money and thinking about money can
- 1:21Speaker 3: feel really intimidating, and for a lot of us, it's
- 1:26Speaker 3: because we're scared of what we'll see. Ignorance is bliss,
- 1:30Speaker 3: as we say, but it isn't really when it comes
- 1:32Speaker 3: to your money. Maybe it's overspending on takeout guilt.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Guilty guilty in there.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Maybe it's the debt that you've been avoiding, or maybe
- 1:43Speaker 3: it's just not knowing where to even start.
- 1:47Speaker 1: What's your money guilty pleasure?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Oh, it's definitely not a guilty pleasure, I would say
- 1:55Speaker 3: the ongoing expenses. So things that come out in the
- 1:59Speaker 3: background like this, obsess those hidden payments that you sign
- 2:03Speaker 3: up to and you kind of set and forget them,
- 2:06Speaker 3: and then when you sit down and take the time
- 2:08Speaker 3: to review your finances, you see how much they add up.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Because even at ten dollars or twelve dollars, you're like, oh,
- 2:14Speaker 3: that's not much, but when you combine them all, it's
- 2:16Speaker 3: a lot more than what you think. What's yours?
- 2:18Speaker 2: My toxic money habit is sad girl spending whenever I'm like,
- 2:23Speaker 2: you know what, I deserve this, or I'm sad I
- 2:26Speaker 2: need something to make me happy, and then I spend
- 2:29Speaker 2: money that I shouldn't be spending and then I'm sad.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Because I spend money that I shouldn't.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Be spending, emotional spending.
- 2:35Speaker 1: We've all been there.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But like, also, how rude is it for the money
- 2:38Speaker 2: to come out of my account when I'm sad and
- 2:40Speaker 2: I buy something?
- 2:42Speaker 1: It shouldn't count that it should be free. Isn't that
- 2:44Speaker 1: the rule? I'm pretty sure?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Like I put a note on the order and I say,
- 2:48Speaker 2: this is a sad girl spend. Don't take the money
- 2:50Speaker 2: out of my account, and they do it every time.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but still give me the order.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Anyway, as we probably all know, avoiding your finances doesn't
- 2:59Speaker 3: make the stress go away. It just lingers, like the
- 3:03Speaker 3: text you forgot to respond to three weeks ago, which
- 3:06Speaker 3: reminds me I've got a couple of texts I have
- 3:08Speaker 3: to respond to. But once you rip the band aid
- 3:11Speaker 3: off and you actually look at the numbers, you'll feel
- 3:15Speaker 3: so much more in control. Because money is just information.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It doesn't define you, but it can help you make
- 3:24Speaker 3: better choices by knowing where to start.
- 3:27Speaker 1: All right.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Step number two is the income versus the expenses snapshots.
- 3:34Speaker 2: So let's talk about where to start when you're overwhelmed.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And I think this is the hardest step in the
- 3:39Speaker 2: whole process.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So let's go.
- 3:42Speaker 2: No spreadsheets, no scary math, just quick and dirty income
- 3:47Speaker 2: versus expenses snapshot.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So here is the game plan.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Number one, write down your income, pull out your notes
- 3:55Speaker 2: app and grab a piece of paper and jot down
- 3:58Speaker 2: all the money you've got coming in each month. Paychecks,
- 4:01Speaker 2: side hustles, freelance gigs, and that twenty dollars your friend
- 4:05Speaker 2: transferred to you for drinks on the weekend.
- 4:07Speaker 1: If it's money in your pocket, it counts.
- 4:09Speaker 2: List your fixed expenses, so these are non negotiable, so rent,
- 4:14Speaker 2: car payments, insurance subscriptions you keep forgetting to cancel, anything
- 4:18Speaker 2: that's the same amount every single month. Number three is
- 4:22Speaker 2: to add your variable expenses. So now for the fun
- 4:26Speaker 2: stuff like groceries, brunch with the girls, shopping, coffee runs,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you name it. These can change month to months, so
- 4:34Speaker 2: it's okay to estimate them when we're doing this. What
- 4:37Speaker 2: I would always struggle with is I'm like, I don't
- 4:39Speaker 2: know what those are, and sometimes it is just guessing them.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You can just ballpark it and that's okay.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It just gives you an estimate to work to and
- 4:48Speaker 2: then the next month, if you're over or under it,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you can just adjust it. So the last step in
- 4:53Speaker 2: your income versus expenses is to subtract and breathe. So
- 4:57Speaker 2: subtract your total expenses from your inc whatever the number is,
- 5:02Speaker 2: don't freak out.
- 5:03Speaker 1: This is the starting point and we do all have
- 5:05Speaker 1: to start somewhere.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Moving on to tip number three, make it manageable. Okay,
- 5:11Speaker 3: so we've got our snapshot. Yay, congratulations, a good job's
- 5:15Speaker 3: so proud of.
- 5:16Speaker 1: You, Kisses and cuddles.
- 5:17Speaker 3: But now what, Let's make it manageable and easy. If
- 5:22Speaker 3: you're staring at the numbers and feeling like where do
- 5:24Speaker 3: I even start, we've got you. Here's how to ease
- 5:27Speaker 3: into it. Number one. Pick one thing to tweak. Look
- 5:32Speaker 3: at your variable expenses and choose one thing to cut
- 5:35Speaker 3: back on. Maybe it's fewer Uber eats orders, a budget
- 5:40Speaker 3: for your target runs, or finally canceling that subscription you
- 5:44Speaker 3: forgot about and never use. It's all about baby steps.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Number two. Weekly money dates. Schedule a weekly money check
- 5:53Speaker 3: in with yourself. Light a candle, put on some chill
- 5:56Speaker 3: music and review you're spending.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Have a glass of wine, and you can get all
- 6:02Speaker 1: the mask go.
- 6:02Speaker 3: They're creative with the numbers. You know, I'm like, I've.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Made one million dollars.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I put it two extra zeros, three extra zeros?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Okay, fine, fine, extra zero and call it your money
- 6:17Speaker 3: date because it makes the whole thing feel less scary
- 6:21Speaker 3: and romanticizes the whole process. Number three, celebrate the wins.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Did you stick to your grocery budget? Congratulations? Did you
- 6:31Speaker 3: save twenty dollars by making coffee at home? Honestly iconic?
- 6:36Speaker 3: Celebrate every little win because progress, not perfection, is the goal.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I think that's the key when it comes to having
- 6:44Speaker 2: a financial glow up. It's not about starting perfect because
- 6:48Speaker 2: it's impossible, that's not going to happen. It is about
- 6:51Speaker 2: just starting the process and staying with it and progressing
- 6:55Speaker 2: along it because it's not going to just like win bam,
- 6:58Speaker 2: thank you, ma'am in the first week you do it.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So many of us put pressure on ourselves and compare
- 7:03Speaker 3: ourselves to others, thinking, oh, I should have this much
- 7:07Speaker 3: money saved, or I should have these assets, or I
- 7:09Speaker 3: should have these money goals. And if you're starting from scratch,
- 7:13Speaker 3: a lot of us don't celebrate those little wins along
- 7:16Speaker 3: the way, but you should it's all steps, baby steps
- 7:19Speaker 3: that will ladder up to your larger financial goals, and
- 7:23Speaker 3: celebrating those things will encourage you to keep going and
- 7:27Speaker 3: give you that motivation. So celebrate all the wins, big
- 7:30Speaker 3: and small.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But I feel like I can kick a door if
- 7:32Speaker 1: it's hinging. Whoa Monday money money No anyway.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Well, that is a wrap for episode one, but we
- 7:42Speaker 2: will finish every single financial glow Up episode with our
- 7:47Speaker 2: Master Money tip, presented by our sponsor MasterCard. So here's
- 7:51Speaker 2: the Master Money mindset shift we want you to walk
- 7:54Speaker 2: away with. Managing your money isn't about restriction, It's about freedom.
- 8:00Speaker 2: When you understand your income and expenses, you're giving yourself

- 8:08Speaker 2: a life that aligns with what you value, and that
- 8:11Speaker 2: is the ultimate glow up.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Next time you're.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Tempted to avoid your finances or you don't want to
- 8:16Speaker 2: open your banking app after a night.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Out, think of it as self care.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Just like you take care of your skin or your
- 8:24Speaker 2: mental health, taking care of your money is an act
- 8:26Speaker 2: of love for your future self.
- 8:27Speaker 3: All right, besties, that's it for today's episode of the
- 8:30Speaker 3: Financial Glove. The twenty twenty five Reset. If this episode
