- 2:04Speaker 1: My interview with Kenny Knox is coming right up.
- 2:12Speaker 1: The Ryder Cup is coming up this weekend, man Yep.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I remember the memories of the Ryder Cup that I mean, let's see, the US hasn't won over there in 30 years.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I remember when you used to dominate.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I have lots of memories of Ryder Cup.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I never made one, but I came, came pretty close one year.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Really.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't quite one, quite good enough.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's one of the hardest things to do.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Is it something that's talked about on tour, like, say, for the instance, this year, justin Thomas was a controversial pick?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Is that like the captain's picks?
- 2:56Speaker 1: What do they try to?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Is that just who you know or is it how personal feel of who you think?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Oh no, you know the captain has ultimate decision making when it comes to the captain's picks.
- 3:10Speaker 3: But you know he's not going to pick a friend just because he's a friend.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I mean they're all.
- 3:21Speaker 3: They're all in it for the same reason as to win.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I mean I would never want to be picked like that If I didn't feel like I was qualified to do it.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Justin Thomas is certainly he's a major factor on that team.
- 3:35Speaker 3: He obviously not playing his best golf, but I think he's, he's got it in him, especially in team competition, which you have to remember, that's, you only play individual one time, you know, which is the last round in the Ryder Cup.
- 3:49Speaker 3: So it's all about the team aspect.
- 3:51Speaker 3: You're a good driver of the ball, You're a good iron player, You're a good putter, you know.
- 3:55Speaker 3: So, uh, you know everybody has a special please, even though they may not be having the year that they want to have is right.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It's not about individual score.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:05Speaker 1: How do you think this is the first time that really the Ryder Cups taking place since the live tour has been around?
- 4:13Speaker 1: I know there was a lot of controversy as to who would be on the team from the live tour.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It turns out Brooks Kepka was selected and he's the only member that is on the live tour.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So how do you do you think that that played a factor?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Well, I think he earned it, you know you know, you should be.
- 4:33Speaker 3: If you won the PGA championship you'd automatically be on the team, and so he finished second in the Masters and he won the PGA championship this year, so I think he earned his spot on the team.
- 4:44Speaker 3: The other live guys when they played in the major championships really didn't fare that well, you know.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Not good enough to be considered for the Ryder Cup.
- 4:53Speaker 3: And those are the only you know tournaments they played in competing against the PGA Tour players.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So you know, Kepka thinks the one guy that did earn his spot from the live I don't think D'Shambo, because he's playing good right now means a hell of beans, you know.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:12Speaker 3: In my opinion, he's just.
- 5:13Speaker 3: In my opinion.
- 5:15Speaker 3: He's winning a lot of money, but he's just winning the exhibition tournaments.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah, we're playing.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You're playing against 47 other guys and half of them you don't even, never even heard of.
- 5:25Speaker 3: You know, that's to me the exhibition tour.
- 5:28Speaker 3: They're paying you to show up and play.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That doesn't mean they're not great players or great players.
- 5:33Speaker 3: They chose a different avenue to go down.
- 5:35Speaker 3: They chose the easy money rather than starting out at zero every year.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And earning you, earning your money.
- 5:43Speaker 3: That way you know they're, you know there's nothing against them.
- 5:49Speaker 3: They just chose a different route because it was available to them.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Right, exactly, is this something that they may?
- 5:55Speaker 3: be disgruntled.
- 5:55Speaker 3: You know they may be disgruntled.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Pga Tour members you know they may not like the way the PGA Tour system works.
- 6:00Speaker 3: You know all the insider information that we don't know about with the PGA Tour.
- 6:05Speaker 3: But you know it's still a choice that they had to make and there's other players that would have been chosen ahead of him that chose to stick with the PGA Tour.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad Brooks made it, in particular being you know he's, he's from the area, he's very he's a polarizing figure and there's either people either love them or you hate them.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I kind of think you know what I mean.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I don't.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I don't particularly like him.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I mean, he's a Florida state guy.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I don't particularly like him.
- 6:38Speaker 3: I mean but I highly respect him and his abilities to play golf and to come back from injury and play as well as he did and and you know his, his competitive nature, and I certainly will pull for him really hard in the right of cup.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Right, so you're not a fan.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Not really, I don't you know I don't really like his attitude.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 3: It's it's different.
- 7:04Speaker 3: You know on the full swing, you know documentary too.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I didn't really like the way he handled himself in that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a different.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of brash out there.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's, you know it's.
- 7:18Speaker 3: At that point he was kind of defending his position with the LIV.
- 7:21Speaker 3: So right.
- 7:22Speaker 3: But you know I don't really like the way you know you could be perceived a certain way according to how they edit the film too.
- 7:31Speaker 1: That's true.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So it may not be who he really was but, it's who he was perceived to be.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:38Speaker 3: So I think you know a good communicator knows the do's and don'ts, you know editing and right.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And those you know the nuances of being having your life story being picked apart.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:57Speaker 3: So you've got to be on your toes.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You can't be, you know, let your guard down.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I got to ask you about another former Noel who was on the Ryder Cup not too long ago, and that's Daniel Berger.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Have you.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He hasn't really played competitively, you know, over like a year.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 1: What's going on with him?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Well, it's, you know the same thing.
- 8:25Speaker 3: That kind of happened to me, but you know on a much, you know smaller scale.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I mean, I've won three tournaments.
- 8:31Speaker 3: He's won three or four tournaments, he had an injury that did not allow him to play his best golf, and and he's chosen, you know, take time off and to you know, to get healthy.
- 8:47Speaker 3: However, when you do that, you run the risk of losing your competitive edge.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And so I think that's exactly what's happened to him.
- 8:57Speaker 3: It's going to take him to dig really, really down deep to be, you know, come, come back player of the year.
- 9:06Speaker 3: He's going to have to really fight hard to do that.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I mean, he had a great game when he was on the Ryder Cup two years ago, yeah, and, and he played great.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But you know, injury does that to players and that's all it takes is one injury, and that's in any sport.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You know, every backup player is just one injury away from starting.
- 9:27Speaker 1: That's true, that's true.
- 9:29Speaker 1: What?
- 9:29Speaker 1: What was the biggest injury you experienced in your career?
- 9:33Speaker 3: I blew out my L4, l5 in my lower back and tried to play through it instead of taking time off, because I did not want to lose my competitive edge but it did not allow me to practice the way I wanted to practice or swing the golf flow the way I had been used to swinging it, and, as a result, I totally lost all confidence in my game and it never really regained it.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Hmm, hmm.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Well, you have three career wins on in the PGA and you played golf at Florida State, correct?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yes, and so did Paul Azinger, who will be the lead broadcaster this weekend for the Ryder Cup.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I love listening to him broadcast golf Anything you can.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Any fun funny stories you have on Paul Azinger.
- 10:25Speaker 3: You know, paul was actually a late bloomer.
- 10:27Speaker 3: He came to Florida State coming from junior college I think it was Brevard and he really had a really difficult time even qualifying to play on the Florida State's golf team because of the coach didn't really like the way his mechanics of the golf swing and he had really, really worked hard to earn his spot on the team and when he finally did achieve it, finally won that spot, they couldn't take it away from him.
- 11:00Speaker 3: He became all American at Florida.
- 11:01Speaker 3: State.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And then he went on to play mini tour golf and struggle a little bit.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Then he got his PGA tour card and struggle a little bit and I believe in 1985 he had a breakout year where he showed up when the British opened and lost to Nick Fowdo having 18 pars on the last 18 holes of the tournament and lost by a shot there at Mirafil, which is one of the all time great golf courses.
- 11:33Speaker 3: But I think he's had a very, very successful broadcast career.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But there's another guy that you know.
- 11:41Speaker 3: He fought through cancer.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I went down to visit him and his house.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I made a prediction that he would win another tournament and he kind of looked at me like I had two heads and Then he went back out.
- 11:56Speaker 3: He won the Hawaii it open and so you know that was.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I was very proud of him because I know what he had to go through with the cancer.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I saw him when he was fighting it and you know he would, when his wife, tony, would even walk through the room if she had any perfume on or any In a you know, food in our hand or anything.
- 12:19Speaker 3: It would make him sick.
- 12:20Speaker 3: So the, the, the treatments were horrible and he lost tremendous amount of weight, lost all his hair and Fought through it.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Came back one and the why it opened and a big.
- 12:37Speaker 3: You know People love the fact that he could come back and win and and and and went on to.
- 12:47Speaker 3: You know, callaway stuck with him also.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah that Callaway got you know, they continue to pay him and they believed in him and and you know he, he fulfilled his obligations and that's just an incredible, really really incredible story.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It really is.
- 13:06Speaker 3: It became a broadcaster and which is.
- 13:08Speaker 3: It seemed like he was born to do that.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Yeah he's a very, very smart individual right A tremendous success of the Ryder Cup.
- 13:16Speaker 3: As a captain, it took a really a A a whole new way of looking at pairing players together.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah and Set himself apart from as a captain and it came back at Val Holla and won on the American soil with really an underdog team.
- 13:42Speaker 3: You had a lot of first timers there with boo weekly and guys like that, and it was all because of of his captaincy, I believe he won that, they won that and then, uh, you know, they asked him to captain gear but he, he chose a different path with broadcasting and you know, last year he was criticized for saying some things that he Uh, that were did not come true or did not come to fruition.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And you know, johnny Miller was criticized and he became one of the greatest barb casters ever right so I believe if Paul sticks in there and and stays true to himself and Says what he believes, he'll be, you know, he'll be right up there with Johnny Miller.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I love listening to him talk about the game.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Really Kind of you can hear him talk about how really difficult it is and how fine that line is from.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yeah you know, you've been around so many you know golfers throughout the years.
- 14:40Speaker 1: What is that, that little bit of extra that it takes to get on the tour?
- 14:44Speaker 1: Because, you know, I I was speaking to a couple of guys that were competing in the amateur tournaments and I see them play and they it looks like a dagum pro to me, um, but what is that difference that you is that to make that last, you know, to get that tour card?
- 15:11Speaker 3: He's momentum and gets bigger and larger and it's just a matter really also getting over the hump and and believe it in yourself and and your beliefs on what, what gives you strength and you know having a great routine and yeah uh, you know they used to be before I, you know, before I came out on tour back in the Early 80s, was you know everybody's talking about?
- 15:37Speaker 3: You really had to be very selfish out there and you had to really make sure that you put yourself first, have had everybody, even your family and stuff.
- 15:46Speaker 3: But that was one thing that said, jack Nichols apart, I think he put his family first and, uh, and he picked and chose which tournaments he wanted to play in and he prepared appropriately and he would go out and and he believed that, you know, he would be a contender in every tournament that he played in, and you know he wants, by the same, never, never, hit a shot you you're not fully committed to, and so every shot mattered and and he really set the bar as far as From a mental standpoint, you know how to approach the game of golf.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Uh, he had a little bit different approach, more really, more conservative than most, until he needed to be, you know, until he needed to gamble.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Right uh, he would be very conservative and he would work his way up the leaderboard.
- 16:32Speaker 3: And when they, when everybody saw the great Jack and cat Nicholas climbing the board, you know Somehow their games went away because they were distracted and they, they focused more on his accomplishments rather than their own ability to overcome.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yeah, he kind of you could see that he kind of changed the way people looked at um At the game and I think he kind of could see tiger took that over, you know, had that same kind of approach.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Tiger did.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Tiger was a, you know.
- 17:05Speaker 3: You know the word freak sometimes is the derogatory word or but, but it's really what?
- 17:13Speaker 3: What?
- 17:14Speaker 3: The greats of the games really are?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Their freaks because they set themselves apart from everybody else.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And that's what tiger did.
- 17:21Speaker 3: He was, he was an absolute freaking nature is he was prepared well by his father and he grew.
- 17:27Speaker 3: He grew into the golfer that he became because of his father's uh, let's call it tactical preparation as a green beret, you know, he, he, he taught him how to win the battles and how to think is they what?
- 17:46Speaker 3: Think his way through situations and and have total confidence.
- 17:51Speaker 3: You know, he built, he built a model that was very successful because because of his techniques were, you know, a tiger had great technique when he started out, but he was still a little bit loose, and so he never was.
- 18:06Speaker 3: He was never satisfied With his accomplishments, he always wanted more.
- 18:11Speaker 3: So he would always strive to improve his techniques over the years.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And plus, we got to remember the tiger woods was, without a doubt, the greatest putter that ever lived.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, he made more putts under pressure at the time and he made more shortcuts, you know, in a row than anybody.
- 18:33Speaker 3: He made more cuts in a row than anybody and he did.
- 18:37Speaker 3: He broke all the records and he's just a freak of nature.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah that Doesn't come along very often.
- 18:46Speaker 3: He had tremendous competition right with film Phil Microson, bj Singh and Ernie L's and Retof Goose, and I mean you go down the list.
- 18:55Speaker 3: He had incredible competitions as well, so he wasn't playing at a time where there were a bunch of slouches out there.
- 19:03Speaker 3: He was playing what people knew how to play golf, and and that's that's been the.
- 19:08Speaker 3: You know Through the entire game with.
- 19:11Speaker 3: You know the history of the game.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Yeah you always had to beat the best to be, the best.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yep so Art of Palmer and all the rest of them, you know they, they never.
- 19:22Speaker 3: You know, byron Nelson won a bunch of tournaments when everybody was at war.
- 19:27Speaker 3: That might be the only exception, but even when they came back, or even before they went, he was still beating them right and his career was cut short because he he didn't desire to be away from his family.
- 19:41Speaker 3: As wife and family, he wanted to be at home more often and have a ranch and, you know, do things that he enjoyed doing right.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think it's well.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I mean that the record he has with the PGA Tour wins Tiger.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I think that's way more impressive.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I know the majors are what he wants and I think Jack Nicholas, by getting a bunch of majors really put the, just highlighted those tournaments in particular.
- 20:12Speaker 1: But when it comes to Playing in those tournaments, the mental edge like what is one piece of advice or what do you, what do you think of?
- 20:23Speaker 1: What's one thing you're thinking of when you're playing or when you're about to swing Well, I played a lot of golf and I played a lot of golf at Jack Nick.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Listen, you know his whole focus was, you know, one swing key.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You really couldn't allow yourself to have more than one swing key when you're competing and you stick to your routine and you know, the sooner you can get in the in the in your own bubble right and the more successful you will be.
- 20:57Speaker 3: There'll be players that have hot rounds and things of that nature, but they've been able to do it over the course of four days is very difficult.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, the focus, the focus factor is very important.
- 21:08Speaker 3: When you're playing week after week after week after week, you're, you're wearing yourself down and you're you're just not able to focus the same way, and I think that's very important to make sure your schedule is such that it gives you the best chance to be successful.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Now yeah, sorry, go ahead.
- 21:26Speaker 3: No, that's fine.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you in terms of like an amateur, like when you're going, if you're trying to give someone advice and they're working on their game, what in the mental approach?
- 21:39Speaker 1: What would that be?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Just preparation routine?
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you know the probably amateur golf nowadays is nobody was supposed to score.
- 21:49Speaker 3: You know they change the format, all these amateur tournaments of best balls and things like that you know, to two man deals.
- 21:57Speaker 3: You know all that kind of stuff.
- 21:59Speaker 3: So it's really very difficult to prepare yourself for Amateur golf now, the top level amateur golf, your it's almost like professional golf.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 3: You are posted scores and, but it requires repetition.
- 22:15Speaker 3: It requires tremendous amount of dedication To the game.
- 22:18Speaker 3: You have to.
- 22:19Speaker 3: You can't just go out there every weekend and play and expect to compete.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You have to put forth the effort and and with all the different things that are at your that's your fingertips.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Now you can with equipment and golf instruction and mm-hmm.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:38Speaker 3: But usually it all goes back to the same thing.
- 22:40Speaker 3: You, you know, when you walk at the under the golf course and everybody says it comes the best golfer at the club, your confidence, you know, goes.
- 22:50Speaker 3: You know, you have a high, high confidence, you know yeah somebody comes around knocks you off.
- 22:55Speaker 3: You know you, you believe so.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Your belief in your own game is very important.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, that sounds about right.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Well, kenny man, I appreciate you doing this.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Um, is there it in this area?
- 23:10Speaker 1: I Around the courses in this area, north Florida area, in town.
- 23:15Speaker 1: What's what's a favorite of yours?
- 23:21Speaker 3: The favorite golf course in this area.
- 23:23Speaker 3: It is hard to say there, there, you know, the problem we have in this area is the conditions of the golf course.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yeah you know, I look at conditions.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You know, because I'm a little bit spoiled.
- 23:38Speaker 3: You know I played the PJ tour for so long and champions tour.
- 23:41Speaker 3: You know I love great condition golf courses.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Otherwise, you know I'm not really that.
- 23:47Speaker 3: I hate to go out and just play golf.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah you know there's a lot of great layouts that go through a lot of different ups and downs.
- 23:54Speaker 3: As far as your conditions, you know the grasses get old of it.
- 23:59Speaker 3: You know the the budget does not allow them to replace, replace the grasses.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you know reconstructing things of that nature.
- 24:08Speaker 3: So everybody kind of holds on and you know it's really difficult.
- 24:12Speaker 3: You know the best courses in the best condition course.
- 24:16Speaker 3: You know You're in year out in.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Tallahassee is obviously going to be.
- 24:19Speaker 3: You know the seminal legacy, you know, but it's a brand new golf course.
- 24:26Speaker 3: So, you know collards out there there they rebuilt their golf course and it's gonna be I'm sure it's gonna be a great golf course to play.
- 24:33Speaker 3: You know, my favorite golf course is capital city country club.
- 24:37Speaker 3: It's where I grew up.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 3: This is great.
- 24:41Speaker 3: It's a really, really good condition.
- 24:43Speaker 3: You know there are things about it that could be improved, no doubt, but they're a graveyard or something over there in there if Little overblown, but the you know the condition of the golf course have improved dramatically.
- 25:02Speaker 3: If you want a different look, you know that's a.
- 25:05Speaker 3: That's one direction to look.
- 25:08Speaker 3: You know Glenn Arvin's a great golf course.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 3: In my opinion, it's a it's a good golf course.
- 25:14Speaker 3: It's in great condition, which makes it a great golf course, yep, and so if you keep the golf course in great condition, that's something that that you know, everybody desires to have.
- 25:24Speaker 3: But there's ample amounts of golf course around here to play, yeah, but you know it costs a little bit more to play great condition golf courses, and so it just depends on what your taste and what you're, what you can afford well, what are you?
- 25:42Speaker 1: What are you doing nowadays, kenny?
- 25:44Speaker 1: What?
- 25:44Speaker 1: How do you keep yourself busy?
- 25:48Speaker 3: Well, I'm not a full-time golf instructor, but I do teach quite a bit at capital city country club okay.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I I have many hats.
- 25:56Speaker 3: You know I own my own golf company.
- 25:58Speaker 3: All right, uh, nox golf company and I sell putters and wedges, okay, website.
- 26:05Speaker 3: All right go my website, the Kenny nox golf website.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Okay and I work for PXG, another golf company.
- 26:12Speaker 3: All right.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I do, I do club fitting.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, what's that from, apart from other manufacturers?
- 26:21Speaker 3: Well, the biggest thing they have a great quality product.
- 26:23Speaker 3: It's all milled in-house in Phoenix Arizona and the discos still Phoenix area and the biggest thing that sets it apart is the hands-on fitting system.
- 26:36Speaker 3: So when you get hands on, we have a a number of different options that you can fit people with.
- 26:44Speaker 3: They come to you, you know, when you want to get fit.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You can go online and sign up for PXG to get fit and find out which golf course you're going to be at, where they're going to be there, and you book your time and they'll come to you and you for a-.
- 26:59Speaker 3: It makes a difference, man.
- 27:01Speaker 1: That's where I saw you, man.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I showed up right I needed.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I just needed to get fitted, you know, if you haven't done so, you should do so, whether it's with PXG.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I do recommend you give them a call, though, but definitely get fitted, it's worth it.
- 27:18Speaker 3: It is, and that's the day's golf.
- 27:19Speaker 3: I mean you can play with your wife's golf clubs and they go out and have the best round of your life.
- 27:24Speaker 3: You never know, that may be exactly what you need.
- 27:27Speaker 3: You never know.
- 27:28Speaker 1: That's true.
- 27:30Speaker 3: With.
- 27:30Speaker 3: You know as me and we all have these big egos we think we should be all playing.
- 27:33Speaker 3: extra shift shafts, 125 gram weight, you know the blade heads and things like that.
- 27:43Speaker 3: But that's not.
- 27:45Speaker 3: You're gonna be your highest performance equipment for the most part, unless you're a really accomplished golfer and you have the club head speed to be able to handle that type of equipment.
- 27:54Speaker 3: So the older we get, the more the club head speed slows down and the less the body works properly, and so you have to make those changes in your game.
- 28:04Speaker 3: You know and most of that's the equipment, and not only the golf clubs but the golf balls, and you know all kinds of different things that's gonna give you the best opportunity to shoot your lower scores.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, well, if you need any advice you give Kenny, check out his website.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Kenny Knox Golf.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Look up you can look PXG and schedule fitting right here in the area.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Kenny, before I go, you think the US keeps the cup this weekend.
- 28:37Speaker 3: It's gonna be very, very difficult.
- 28:39Speaker 3: I think one of the downsides well, first, we're, you know we're probably the favorite to win on paper.
- 28:47Speaker 3: They have the home course advantage, which is a huge thing, but our guys have not competed in five weeks.
- 28:54Speaker 3: For the most part, kepka has and Justin Thomas has.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Everybody else has had five weeks off.
- 29:01Speaker 3: So they've been over there prepared to play this golf course.
- 29:04Speaker 3: It's got a lot of short holes on it.
- 29:06Speaker 3: It's gonna be the roughs gonna be cut, different than what we're used to, all kinds of different.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I mean we're the best players in the world, but there's a big change that happens when you go, especially.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I mean they go to Italy, right.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's a big, big change but, certainly.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I think we had the best players, but it's very difficult to win over there.
- 29:33Speaker 1: They have the most favorable side.
- 29:36Speaker 3: They got, we drummed them.
- 29:38Speaker 3: We drummed them two years ago up to Wistwick Traits and I don't force the US drumming them this year but, I think we can certainly win the match.
- 29:47Speaker 1: yes, All right, because you only got Ty to hold on to it.
- 29:51Speaker 3: That's right that's right.
- 29:52Speaker 3: That's what the girls, the other girls, the Solheim Cup.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Last week the Americans had a 14 to 14 tie, but they Retained it.
- 30:01Speaker 3: They did not have a cup, so the Europeans retained the Cup.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Oh man, well, we'll be watching, and it's a good week to have an FSU by week too.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Huh, how about that?
- 30:11Speaker 3: That's right.
- 30:12Speaker 3: That's right, and I will say this I mean above any other golf competition, the Ryder Cup is by far my favorite.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, golf to watch on TV, it is.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I'm a track, I love it.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It's so similar to college football or just to have the team environment in such an individual sport is very rare.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you'll never see crowds tear when you miss a putt, except for the Ryder Cup.
- 30:44Speaker 3: And so it is a football atmosphere and it's match play which you don't see, and it's very, very entertaining, and you're never really out of it.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Until you're out of it, you could always make a comeback in match play and you can make a seven on a hold.
- 31:06Speaker 3: The other guy makes an eagle, two or three on the hold and you only lose one hole and you don't lose three or four shots.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's entertaining man, it's a whole.
- 31:16Speaker 1: It starts Friday, kenny.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I appreciate you coming on and talking golf with me, and we'll talk to you again in the near future.
- 31:22Speaker 1: How's that sound?
- 31:24Speaker 3: My pleasure.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Thanks for having me anytime.
- 31:26Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 31:27Speaker 1: All right, kenny, all right.
- 31:28Speaker 1: We had to go.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Well, we got to get on out of here.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Our ride's here.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I'd like to thank Kenny Knox for coming on and talking Ryder Cop and talking golf.
- 31:41Speaker 1: You should go to his website, kennynoxgolfcom If you want any short game putters and wedges.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Or give PXG.
- 31:55Speaker 1: You can get fitted PXGcom.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Schedule a fitting and they'll come to you.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I can't wait for this weekend, man.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I can't wait for the Ryder Cup man.
- 32:04Speaker 1: It's going to be so much fun.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I'm just really glad FSU has a bye week, but it doesn't mean there's not going to be a lot of good games.
- 32:11Speaker 1: We got to pick them.
- 32:12Speaker 1: We're going to get Jimi Reno on here.
- 32:15Speaker 1: We're going to pick some college games.
- 32:17Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the bye week, the Florida State, talk about the rankings.
- 32:26Speaker 1: We'll update the Heisman standings.
- 32:29Speaker 1: We've got a lot to get to this weekend.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I'm focused on golf and the Ryder Cup.
- 32:39Speaker 1: It's my favorite event in the sport man.
- 32:43Speaker 1: If I had to go to one of them, I think I would want to go to this one man in Rome first of all, but I think it would be over there in Europe.
- 32:55Speaker 1: As an American, I think that would be the most fun for me.
- 32:59Speaker 1: But that's on the bucket list.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I think that's number one in the bucket list for golf is to go to a Ryder Cup.
- 33:07Speaker 1: You got to get to Augusta too.
- 33:10Speaker 1: St Andrews, I have made it out to the double beach, but the Ryder Cup man that one that's at the top of my golf bucket list.
- 33:30Speaker 1: You can email me your bucket list on the show Austin at thenflsncom.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Maybe I'm missing something.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I'm just getting back in the game.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I'm really excited about that.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I just got my clubs and they're awesome, man, oh my God, I can't wait to go hit them.
- 33:52Speaker 1: We also got a lot of college football to get to, a lot of games to pick NFL as well.
- 33:59Speaker 1: You got to talk about that too, and we'll do all that right here next time on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 34:06Speaker 1: We had to go.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Our ride was here, we got a shuttle, we take that.
- 34:17Speaker 3: All right, that's it everybody.
