- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguars fans welcome and to do wall daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: It is Sunday October 4th.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host Jordan to Lugo.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: We are live from our cruise ship here having a good time.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: But your Jaguars, they make this a victory edition of the show.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: They win.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: 22 to 17 hold on late in Cincinnati against the Bengals of Jaguars get to three and one on the season, which is a great start, and the Bengals fall to two and two.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars take care of business on the road, something they weren't able to do a couple weeks ago in Denver, obviously, I think Denver is probably
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: viewed as a little bit more of a home field advantage and a little bit better team than the Bengals but anytime you have Joe Burrow on the other side it's certainly a 10 US situation and it was, it was very close in this one, the Bengals it felt like almost got the job done.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I almost got the job done against your jag wars, but the jags held on to win it.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: They were up 22 to 10 in the fourth quarter, but some late game heroics by Joe Burrow, some big plays, and the Bengals were right back in it, and the jag wars ended up having two.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: get off the field on 4th and 10 and a tackle where Ray Lane flips Chase Brown up into the air.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Chase Brown lands just a little bit short of the marker.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are able to kneel it down and kneel it a couple of times and walk out of there with a huge win again to get to 3 and 1 on the season.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Keep pace in the F.C.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Keep their F.C.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: South lead after you saw the
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: A type of win, Jack's fans really have been desperate for and because this is not a team that gets a lot of respect.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a team that people just generally are ready to jump on the bandwagon and get excited about it.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: The team a lot of people doubt, have their doubts about and they went out to Denver a couple weeks ago and they fell apart in the second half.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: In this game, they were able to hold serve in the second half and come out with a big win against the Bengals.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now Jamar Chase, he did go down with concussion symptoms in the first half.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Teahagans, it looked like had a upper leg, groin sort of situation going on late in the game.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, Joe Burrow without his top guys, but you have a Mitchell Tensley who
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: had a great game against the Jaguars last year.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: You have him out there making plays.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: You have Myers making plays.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: You have Mike just sick you make him plays.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it seems like it didn't matter who Joe Burrow was throwing the football to that they were probably going to make some plays in this one.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not to take anything away from what the Jaguars defense did because overall, there was some high impact plays from a lot of players on the Jaguars on the defensive side of the ball.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into all of it, but this is a very, very big win.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Early season win.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's still very early.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's still a lot of football has to be played.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like you're punching your ticket to the Super Bowl winning in Cincinnati and week four, but it is a big win.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a win where if you fell to two and two, oh and two on the road,
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh and two against these good teams on the road, you're not feeling super great about it, but being able to hold on and get that victory is a big deal for the Jaguars, a big deal for Jaguars fan.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all being here.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, like subscribe, hit that high button and take a look at what the Jaguars did in this game.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: I actually want to start on the defense side of the ball because I think the defense
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: while they did allow, I mean, 414 passing yards or 428 passing yards, I should say, to Joe Burrow.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: That was not an efficient 428 passing yards.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: 54 attempts.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Cincinnati Bengals could not run the football.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a Jaguar's calling card as their defense, right?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that is what they focus on, that is what they harp on.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And if opponents can't run the ball, it makes it difficult to be efficient passing the ball.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what you saw in this game.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: If you attempt 54 passes in a game that is usually not a winning recipe.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: And 428 yards on 54 attempts is not that efficient.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: You were able to get pressure on Joe Buronat.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think you'd still like to be able to get more pressure than you did.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're still working to improve that, but they got a couple of sacks.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: They got a couple of interceptions, right?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Could I have another one?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we'll just talk about Travis Hunter.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Travis Hunter played out of his mind.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: Again, he's not perfect.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: He has still a very young player, but the more you get him on the field, the more you have opponents trying to test Travis Hunter, the more good things are going to happen for your defense.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously it got called back because Eric Grom said, hit Joe Barrow in the head.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Almatelman.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But that Travis Hunter interception was a thing of beauty.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then Jukey T. Higgins to the ground.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then an impressive return.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: That was awesome, right?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he played great football today.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Great football.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was aggressive.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he came down and he, I mean, he put a receiver.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: on his butt like he ran through him, I mean that was a hitstick type of play a little bit later in the game after the interception was called back, he did a lot of great things.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: It was interesting, he was not really lined up much against T-higgins.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: And again, from our chase left earlier in the game, didn't see a lot of Travis Hunter vs T-higgins.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you did see them target T, Higgins often when he was lined up against Jarian Jones.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: And Higgins won more of those matchups than he lost, but Jarian made it tough enough and made it enough plays.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I thought to hold his own, to hold serve, and to help the Jaguars win the game.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, obviously Higgins, 11 for 157 on 16 targets, it's a huge game for him.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't all just against Jarring.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't all man coverage.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Jarring competed.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's a player that's kind of high volatility just by nature with the way he plays the game, the aggressiveness and physicality.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: He plays the game, but he made some big plays against T-higgins.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: T-higgins made some big plays against him and he just felt a little bit more competitive with with Jarian against T, than what you've seen a lot of times in the past with the Jaguars against the Bengals and number one receivers in general and I think T-higgins falls into that category even though he has technically the Bengals number two receiver.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: He can definitely fill that role.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think it again all goes back to
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: stuffing the run and making not only did you stuff the run, the bingles only ran the ball 15 times three of those were Joe Burrow so like 12 runs for the running backs and they averaged less than a yard and a half per carry.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Chase Brown averaged 1.1 yards per carry, Somalia P Ryan averaged 2.3 yards per carry.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: The bingles had 23 rushing yards as a team.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: That is a recipe for success.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And look, it's never going to be easy when you're playing the bingles.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is like, you know, Joe Barrow, this offense, they're going to be in it.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to make things difficult for you, even without Joe Marchase, even without T-higgins at the very end of the game.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to make things difficult for you.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be an easy time, but I get the Jaguar's defense a lot of credit for competing, making it difficult for Joe Barrow, getting pressure in the backfield,
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: competing at the catch point, Travis Hunter plan a really good game, Ray Lane has to come in because Eric Murray gets dinged up, and so there's a lot of moving parts, but I think the Jaguar's defense deserves a lot of credit for their performance and this one only allowing 17 points to the Cincinnati Bengals in Cincinnati, and then you go to the other side of the ball.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think Trevor Lawrence played a very good game.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Through a one that could have been intercepted in the end zone,
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: but the penalties in this game, specifically on the Jaguars.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: There was some on the defense, there was some on special teams, but specifically just like the holding calls, that was just brutal to see.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a lot of penalties in this game on both teams.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars had 10 first half penalties, 10, first half penalties.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: They ended up with 13, the bingles, I think ended up with 11.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the Jaguars ended up with 13 penalties for 125 yards.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Bingles had 11 for 108.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: This was one of the most penalty heavy games I've seen.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And you go back and look at most of them.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they were penalties.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like the rest are just throwing a lot of phantom flags in my opinion, but you just don't normally see a game where there's 24 penalties called.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that made it difficult, I think, for both offenses at times to really get into a groove and you're done into yourself because you're committing penalties, right?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: That was tough to see, tough to watch, 10 penalties in the first half for the Jaguars.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: But Trevor, I thought played a efficient football.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was accurate.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I thought Parker Washington would have a bigger impact on this game than he did.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: He catches that one, towards the end.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: On the third and 10, where he has to kind of dive for it, but like that's,
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's Parker Washington's bread and butter.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm shocked he didn't catch that football.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know he is as well and then very, very late in the game.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: The screenplay on 3rd and 10, it was a great effort.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: It looked like he picked up the first down.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: His heel just clipped out of bounds, and he was out of bounds.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so the Jaguars don't end up picking the first down.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: They're acting like they're going to go for a field goal and then play clock runs out.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: So they lay off game, and then they end up punting it.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was a weird situation.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then the Bengals are just storming down the field.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars,
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: they kept their head in the game defensively, which is very difficult to do in that situation when the opponent, when you're up by less than a touchdown, your opponent needs a touchdown if they get that they're going to win the game in all likelihood and go back to the defense right?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: But they're just driving the ball, there's nothing you can do, you're contesting catches, they're catching them anyways, they're getting open, just slice them through the defense like butter, right?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then you stiffen up and you get the job done.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: force of 4th and 10, and get off the field.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was pretty incredible for them.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: But offensively, I loved the run game when best toton and Chris Rodriguez were getting the ball.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: They were excellent.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there was some moments where the bingles clearly keyed in on the run against toton.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: and sold out against the run.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the Jaguars need to implement some more different looks.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And there's also just some things.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, Dexter Lawrence is going to make a great play.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, boy, I'm off, he's going to make a great play.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars pass protection overall.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we're going to rewatch this football game and dive deeper into it.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I think overall, it was pretty atrocious.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think Trevor Lawrence playing the way he played with that level of pass protection says a lot about him.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: But like Colvane Laneon was getting worked early in the game.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Ants on Harris and gave up too much pressure.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: The guys in the middle I don't think were perfect either.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Lot of penalties again.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think the offensive line did a disservice to the team and they overcame it in the past game.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there was really high level moments as well from the offensive line.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was really high level moments on the offensive line opening up running lanes.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean Chris Rodriguez has touched down.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: That was like,
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the parting of the orange see there like it was wide open for Chris Rodriguez on that play and so that was great to see obviously, but I think overall you're still looking for a lot more from the offensive line Britain strange.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: was the key for the Jaguar's passing attack, and this game had seven catches on eight targets, 95 yards.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: That third and ten he picked up late in the game was huge for this football team.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Other than Britain's strange nobody had like a huge day receiving.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I was very surprised that Parker didn't do more, but
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron had two catches to Kobe had three, two and had two.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: Thomas Jr. touched down.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: Got wide open then back in the end zone.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I was a scheme to play.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: That was a great throw and catch, but you know, shout out to Liam Cohen for schemeing that one up for sure.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: Just getting BTJ wide open.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's great to see him be able to get in the end zone.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, feel a little bit good about the performance, build some of that confidence and that momentum back up moving forward for the Jaguars for BTJ there.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: That was great.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was good seeing Nate Borkerture looking good on a catch and run.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Parker only had one catch.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: He also had the one catch on three targets.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is pretty wild for Parker.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: You have one carry as well.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: You just don't normally expect Parker to
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: to be that low in terms of the totals, but it was a tough game.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when you have that many penalties, it's difficult to get in rhythm.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's difficult to stay on schedule.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: You had so many times where it's like 3rd and 10, 3rd and 15, 3rd and 20, where the Jaguars, that was difficult to overcome, but they were able to do that.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, the offensive line play at time, especially in past protection.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: I also think was difficult to overcome.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: defensively, I thought a lot of guys, you know, we mentioned like the defensive totals, but I thought a lot of guys kind of made a positive impact overall.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: It was obviously great to see oil, lua can get his interception.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: That was a big play for him.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was a pretty dumb throw by Joe Burrow.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: The Jordan Lewis one, that one got tipped by by
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: by Dennis Gardex, so credit to Gardex, but again, it felt like a thrill that maybe shouldn't have been made.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars and some of these zone looks gave Joe Burrow when there was a little bit of pressure on Joe and he had to get rid of the football he fired in and some windows that he probably shouldn't have and then Jaguars were able to take advantage a couple times and again, they took advantage on a play that got called back by Travis Honors.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I think...
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, could us to them.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think return game, coverage overall, all that stuff was pretty solid.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: No big notes there.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: Cam Little does obviously deserve a huge shout out.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: He went three for three, he had a 55 yarder, he had a 54 yarder, he made his own extra point as well.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then I think Logan cooked it a pretty good job to for the Jaguar's on special team.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: So just a huge win.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, 3N1, that's obviously just a great place to be in early in the season.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: You feel like you probably should be 4N0, but you're 3N1, you're on top of your division, you know, barely comfortably at this point, obviously the Colots are 2N2, but you're 3N1, all by yourself at the top of the division.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: and the AFC South, and that's exactly where you want to be as you know, kind of turn the page to London and having two games there against the Eagles and the Texans.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: Two very good football teams, I mean, flawed teams that aren't playing a perfect ball right now, but teams that have talent that have good defenses that are going to present different challenges for you.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguar's three and one on top of the division, the Colts two and two, the Texans fall
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you look at the playoff picture.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are currently as the bills fall to the Patriots, kind of crazy.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: Bills fall to the Patriots.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are now in second place.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: And the F.C.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: Trailing one of the Kansas City Chiefs, who play the Las Vegas Raiders, who are also three and a no.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, the Jaguars will not catch the F.C.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: West leader this week.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: To impossible, to 3-0 teams going up against each other, one of them is going to be 4-0.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars are second place in the AFC with the Bills and 3rd, the Browns in 4th.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: The Raiders in Feather right now, Bravens in 6 in the Broncos in 7th, the Patriots, even though they've had a really disappointing start of the season, are still in 8th place, Steelers in 9th, Coltson 10th, Bengals in 11th.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: a lot to shake out here very early in the season, but good start from the jacks.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all for good one.
