Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's happened? Everybody? Welcome into another edition of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: check O Daily.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's Andrew to check O Eagles beat reporter for Inside
- 0:16Speaker 2: the Birds dot Com. And Today Saturday, marked the final
- 0:20Speaker 2: day of media availability as the Eagles prepared to head
- 0:23Speaker 2: west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night
- 0:27Speaker 2: at SOFI Stadium.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I do have.
- 0:29Speaker 2: An official game status for you, and then I'll get
- 0:32Speaker 2: into the Saturday practice report.
- 0:35Speaker 1: So officially ruled out.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Defensive tackle Jalen Carter's shoulders tackle, Lane Johnson foot listed
- 0:42Speaker 2: as questionable, safety Marcus Epps shoulder tackle, Miles Hinton back.
- 0:48Speaker 2: The practice report for Saturday not practicing Jalen Carter and
- 0:52Speaker 2: Lane Johnson, full go linebacker Zach Bond, hand guard Landon Dickerson, rest,
- 0:58Speaker 2: wide receiver Johan Tow, safety Marcus Ops shoulder, wide receiver
- 1:04Speaker 2: Xavier Gibson's shoulder tackle, Miles Hinton back, and outside linebacker
- 1:08Speaker 2: Jalen Phillips concussion So real quick on Marcus Epps. He
- 1:12Speaker 2: spoke to us in the locker room on Saturday and
- 1:14Speaker 2: when asked if he was going to be getting the
- 1:16Speaker 2: NOD Monday night, he mentioned that he wasn't sure. Keep
- 1:20Speaker 2: in mind that if the Eagles wanted to get Marcus
- 1:22Speaker 2: EPs in the mix for Monday Night, they would have
- 1:24Speaker 2: to activate him to the fifty three man roster, and
- 1:27Speaker 2: the same would apply for tackle Miles Hinton. Both players
- 1:30Speaker 2: have their twenty one day practice window open, but to
- 1:34Speaker 2: get them on the fifty three there would have to
- 1:36Speaker 2: be a corresponding move, So something to keep an eye
- 1:39Speaker 2: on there. I have to say the mood at the
- 1:43Speaker 2: facility today, whether we were there on the practice field
- 1:46Speaker 2: or whether we were in the locker room, it just
- 1:49Speaker 2: seemed very upbeat. There was a lot of energy. You know,
- 1:51Speaker 2: you walk out to the practice field today. They were
- 1:53Speaker 2: indoors inside the bubble. We got to see it very
- 1:56Speaker 2: briefly for about ten minutes. The first song that was
- 1:59Speaker 2: playing with Regulate by Warren g love that song.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Nice little nod to Michael McDonald. I keep forgetting.
- 2:05Speaker 2: But players were bouncing around, and I just think that
- 2:08Speaker 2: that energy is contagious and something that I think bodes
- 2:11Speaker 2: well for the team as they go into Monday Night.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Maybe they're playing a little bit looser. And I think
- 2:16Speaker 2: that there was a quote from Saquon Barkley today that
- 2:18Speaker 2: really resonated and it was candid, and he was very
- 2:23Speaker 2: forthcoming in this, and he said when he was speaking
- 2:26Speaker 2: about the energy on the sideline during the games, and
- 2:28Speaker 2: I don't have the same vantage point as many do
- 2:30Speaker 2: because I watched the game from the press box more
- 2:33Speaker 2: often than not. When I watch back the game and
- 2:36Speaker 2: I watched it, you know, two or three times, I
- 2:39Speaker 2: think you can also make this case. But he was
- 2:42Speaker 2: talking about the energy on the sidelines during the game.
- 2:44Speaker 2: That's why it's very specific, and it's important to note
- 2:47Speaker 2: he said, honestly, I think it's been awful. I think
- 2:49Speaker 2: if you ask anybody if they're being honest, we'd all
- 2:52Speaker 2: agree on that. Most importantly, I think the energy in
- 2:54Speaker 2: practice and walk through in meetings has been great. Now
- 2:59Speaker 2: we got to carry that to game day. So all
- 3:01Speaker 2: the stuff has been great, and now we need to
- 3:03Speaker 2: make sure on game day the energy is high and
- 3:06Speaker 2: we execute and we make plays. The rest will take
- 3:08Speaker 2: care of itself. So the first step to all of
- 3:11Speaker 2: that is obviously acknowledging that there is a lack of juice.
- 3:15Speaker 1: If you will on.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The sideline during games, you need to be able to
- 3:18Speaker 2: pick each other up and make sure you're able to
- 3:21Speaker 2: sustain that those vibes or energy or whatever you want
- 3:25Speaker 2: to call it throughout the game and making sure spirits
- 3:28Speaker 2: are lifted and all of that, because I think for
- 3:31Speaker 2: this Eagles team, having reached the pinnacle of the sport
- 3:35Speaker 2: last season just nine and a half months ago, there
- 3:38Speaker 2: is a sense of perfectionism and that's great and everything,
- 3:45Speaker 2: but that can also work against you a little bit
- 3:47Speaker 2: because you're so fixated on being perfect and having those
- 3:53Speaker 2: wins look the way that you expect it to look,
- 3:56Speaker 2: that anything less is a disappointment. And there's a very
- 3:59Speaker 2: business like approach and that's been consistent with their messaging
- 4:02Speaker 2: throughout training camp. And what I can tell you is
- 4:06Speaker 2: week to week, I do notice these guys having fun
- 4:09Speaker 2: in the locker room during the week, and Saquon spoke
- 4:12Speaker 2: to that. He spoke to other areas that we're not
- 4:15Speaker 2: privy too, so walk throughs and meetings and all that,
- 4:18Speaker 2: but it definitely lacks on the sideline. And I'm sure
- 4:22Speaker 2: those who are listening and have watched the games are
- 4:24Speaker 2: able to make that same observation.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But for Saquon to come out and say that.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I thought was noteworthy and to get out in front
- 4:31Speaker 2: of it and be aware that that needs to be
- 4:34Speaker 2: addressed or they have to work on that. I think
- 4:37Speaker 2: is a big step forward because it's easy to brush
- 4:41Speaker 2: things under the rug or think that there's nothing to
- 4:43Speaker 2: see here and then nothing gets addressed. But little things
- 4:46Speaker 2: like that make a big difference in a season. And
- 4:49Speaker 2: leave it to one of their preeminent leaders to point
- 4:53Speaker 2: that out and get out in front of it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I thought was big. The Eagles also have.
- 4:58Speaker 2: When we walked into the locker room, just past Saquon's
- 5:01Speaker 2: locker in the middle, there is an inflatable Easter bunny
- 5:07Speaker 2: and it said Happy Easter attached to it.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm sure you could see the photos.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Floating around on X and you know it was unofficially
- 5:15Speaker 2: dubbed the Positivity Bunny, and.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's to keep the vibes high. You know.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I think I've seen a lot of negativity on social
- 5:25Speaker 2: media based off of those photos. And I have to
- 5:29Speaker 2: tell you, you gotta lighten up. Okay, it's a long season.
- 5:33Speaker 2: What players do to find ways to keep the mood
- 5:37Speaker 2: light and just you know, you know, keep everything, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 2: add some levity to a marathon of a season.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Well, that's their prerogative.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It has no bearing on what's forthcoming, how they're going
- 5:51Speaker 2: to perform on Monday. Just just lighten up and let
- 5:55Speaker 2: them do what makes them happy, because I thought that
- 5:58Speaker 2: you could see that, you know, you couldn't help but
- 6:00Speaker 2: smile looking at it, And I think that's a good
- 6:03Speaker 2: positive thing. If they want to use that as as
- 6:07Speaker 2: something that's going to sort of brighten the mood or
- 6:10Speaker 2: or add some humor and levity to, you know, to
- 6:14Speaker 2: the daily grind, I think that that's that's important. So,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you know, it just seems like there's a lot of
- 6:20Speaker 2: folks out there that that are looking for something negative
- 6:24Speaker 2: or looking to sort of correlate that to to negativity.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That's going to have no bearing on how the Eagles
- 6:29Speaker 2: play football moving forward, to be clear. And I think
- 6:33Speaker 2: if that's something that the players want to do, and
- 6:36Speaker 2: you know, it's you know, it's not a big deal.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It shouldn't be viewed that way as a big deal.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Not everything needs to be something that's poked and prodded
- 6:44Speaker 2: and dissected.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It's it's just it's just something to lighten the mood
- 6:48Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And everybody seemed to be, you know, smiling and laughing
- 6:53Speaker 2: about it, and obviously that's that's a positive thing.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Hey.
- 6:56Speaker 3: One thing that always scares me is the latest financial scam.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And with the holidays, it's all about finding the perfect gift.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But this time of the year, not every deal is
- 7:05Speaker 3: actually what it seems. You've got these scammers getting more
- 7:08Speaker 3: creative to trick people into sharing their payment info through
- 7:12Speaker 3: methods like fake shopping sites and giveaways. You know they're

- 9:41Speaker 2: Looking at the defensive tackle situation, I noted this on
- 9:45Speaker 2: my ex on my x page, and you know, the
- 9:50Speaker 2: Eagles have four defensive tackles going into this game on
- 9:53Speaker 2: the fifty three if you're not counting Jalen Carter, and
- 9:56Speaker 2: that's going to be Moro, Jomo, Jordan Davis, Byron Young,
- 9:59Speaker 2: and Ty Robinson. Moro Jomo and Jordan Davis had far
- 10:03Speaker 2: surpassed their snap share and they're gonna need some help,
- 10:06Speaker 2: and that's gonna come in the.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Form of Byron Young and Ty Robinson.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Byron Young, by the way, has played one hundred and
- 10:12Speaker 2: ninety three snaps this season. He'd away previously played ninety
- 10:16Speaker 2: nine snaps, and that was when he was a rookie
- 10:17Speaker 2: with the Raiders a couple of years ago. He missed
- 10:19Speaker 2: off last season with an injury. I believe it was
- 10:22Speaker 2: a hamstring. So all three of those players are playing
- 10:26Speaker 2: career highs and ty Robinson's appeared in six games.
- 10:30Speaker 1: He's played thirty five defensive snaps.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Now, Vic Vanjo doesn't typically implement a heavy rotation in
- 10:37Speaker 2: terms of interior defensive lineman, but when one of those
- 10:40Speaker 2: players is someone who has always played thirty five snaps
- 10:44Speaker 2: in Ty Robinson, you could make a case for the
- 10:49Speaker 2: Eagles electing to elevate a player on the practice squad
- 10:53Speaker 2: just to add another body. They also have Brandon Graham
- 10:56Speaker 2: who can give them some interior snaps and moonlight there.
- 11:00Speaker 2: But the two players on the practice squad, if you're
- 11:02Speaker 2: looking at it in those terms, are Gabe Hall, who
- 11:05Speaker 2: has two remaining elevations. He was elevated for the Giants game.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The first game he appeared in was Week one against
- 11:11Speaker 2: the Cowboys.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He was already on the fifty three. He made the
- 11:13Speaker 1: team outright and then was waived after that. And then
- 11:17Speaker 1: you have.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Taekwon Graham, who is a veteran player. He's appeared in
- 11:22Speaker 2: fifty one games, started in six started in sixteen of
- 11:25Speaker 2: them for the Atlanta Falcons. He's a player that I
- 11:28Speaker 2: think a lot have forgotten about or maybe aren't even
- 11:30Speaker 2: aware that he's on.
- 11:31Speaker 1: The practice squad for those on the outside.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But he's somebody who has a lot of NFL experience,
- 11:36Speaker 2: So that's sort of a.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Safety valve, a little bit of a luxury, if.
- 11:42Speaker 2: You will, if the Eagles opt to bring up another
- 11:46Speaker 2: tackle for this game. And I'm curious to see how
- 11:49Speaker 2: Byron Young and Ty Robinson respond to this.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I wrote a story on Inside the Birds.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Dot com because I find their stories to be fascinating
- 11:56Speaker 2: for different reasons. Ty Robinson was a draft pick that
- 12:00Speaker 2: I've probably gotten more questions about than any player throughout
- 12:03Speaker 2: the summer, along with Lewis Seen. And I know it's
- 12:06Speaker 2: been a mystery to some why he hasn't played. There's
- 12:08Speaker 2: always reasons for that. There's players in front of him
- 12:11Speaker 2: that are playing well. There's the learning curve that probably
- 12:15Speaker 2: isn't taken into account for rookies that everybody progresses at
- 12:19Speaker 2: different rates, and he had to refine some areas, and
- 12:21Speaker 2: Vick Vano is not going to put somebody out there
- 12:24Speaker 2: if they're not one hundred percent ready or if he
- 12:26Speaker 2: doesn't believe that he's going to put them in the
- 12:28Speaker 2: best position to be successful. But you know, the next
- 12:31Speaker 2: man up mentality often surfaces throughout an NFL season, and
- 12:34Speaker 2: it's going to be Byron Young and ty Robinson that
- 12:37Speaker 2: pick up the slack there. So I'm looking forward to
- 12:40Speaker 2: seeing what they're able to do with their opportunity. And
- 12:43Speaker 2: that's kind of the way things are looking heading into
- 12:47Speaker 2: Monday night. So you're not going to have Landon Lane
- 12:50Speaker 2: I'm sorry, You're not gonna have Lane Johnson and you're
- 12:52Speaker 2: not going to have.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Jayalen Carter. They're the only players that aren't going to
- 12:58Speaker 1: be that.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Are ruled out and the Eagles are healthy other than that,
- 13:03Speaker 2: so that's great news and we'll see what happens with
- 13:06Speaker 2: the Chargers now. On Saturday, they activated running back o
- 13:11Speaker 2: Marion Hampton, who's missed a lot of the season with injury.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Their dynamic rookie running back. I think that they're going
- 13:18Speaker 2: to implement a heavy ground attack in this game. With
- 13:21Speaker 2: Justin Herbert doing with the injury to his hand. We'll
- 13:23Speaker 2: even have to see if Justin Herbert is able to
- 13:25Speaker 2: play in this game. I'm still not sure. I'mo on
- 13:28Speaker 2: one hundred percent sold.
- 13:29Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 13:29Speaker 2: They're going to keep it close to the vest over
- 13:31Speaker 2: there for competitive advantage as well.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Hey it's Jeff Mosher. And if you have a family
- 13:36Speaker 3: and kids at home, like me, you always want them
