- 0:00So had any ideas for names, Yancy, I'm sort of thinking one.
- 0:06Daddy has a present for you today. Do you know what it is.
- 0:10It's a lucky clover that can help you be successful whatever you do, even
- 0:13break dancing, and it once belonged to someone very special. I know what
- 0:18name you want to give him, Yancy. It's okay, really, son,
- 0:23I'm naming you Philip J. Fry in honor of my little brother who
- 0:28I miss every day. I love you, Philip, and I always will.
- 0:44Here lies Philip J. Fry, named for his uncle to carry on
- 0:49his spirit. Could news everyone, I'm back, baby. You welcome to
- 1:08Tales of Futurama, exclusively here on the four finger Discount Patreon channel. Thank
- 1:14you guys for supporting us here and getting access to this show this week.
- 1:17We're here to review the episode with the production code of three ac B zero
- 1:21four. The tissue is ready. It's the Luck of the Friarish. I'm
- 1:23Dando and I am guy. Yes, you're right, there will be tears
- 1:26in this discussion of the Luck of the Friarish. But I initially thought will
- 1:30there be? What's the deal with this episode? I'm sure I'm enjoying this
- 1:34all that much. But this episode is the very definition of stick the landing.
- 1:40We're just discussing on going down to South Park. Sometimes you just got
- 1:42to just keep watching, you know. I often say to people who are
- 1:46breaking back. It was the example I brought up first episode. I love
- 1:49the first episode. Some people for some reason just don't really enjoy it.
- 1:51It's like, just keep with it, you'll eventually fall in love with it.
- 1:53This episode not so necessarily like great bits, but when it comes to
- 1:57a story from like A to Z, from beginning to end, it's just
- 2:00so well told. Yes everything from not everything but A through maybe X is
- 2:09like, what's going on here? What's the point? Okay, yeah,
- 2:14I sort of see what this man's all matters in it. Is this going
- 2:16to add up to anything? And boy does it? Yes? Yes,
- 2:19it's because they don't foreshadow the ending in any way like you're I mean,
- 2:24I've got here. You almost feel the same guilt as Fry as a viewer.
- 2:28You just like you think, oh, this is the answer. Guy
- 2:30was a prick, Like the way he's there's no foreshadowing that is going to
- 2:32be like the baby face turn at the end. And then when it comes,
- 2:36it hits it so hard, like I've just got here. I thought
- 2:38I was ready to rewatch this one. I haven't rewatched this one in a
- 2:39long time. This one doesn't get me emotionally. It's a different reason.
- 2:44They maybe because I'm a father. I don't think I've watched this episode since
- 2:46being a father. It's been years, right, But Jurassic Bark was always
- 2:47the onst the one everyone talks about the dog, right because everyone can relate
- 2:51to having a pet and the fact that he waited and waited for Fry.
- 2:53I'm not looking forward to doing no right, But this one he hits me
- 2:57for different reasons because the reveal I remember, I remember Philip being Yancey's son.
- 3:01I remember that being the thing I completely forgot about. The drawing on
- 3:06the nursery war. That was a moment where I was like, oh fuck,
- 3:08because when he grabs it out of the grabs the drawing, I was
- 3:12like, there's gonna be a reason for that. When he when he's going
- 3:15through Fry shit and he grabs the far Age twenty, I'm like, it
- 3:17wouldn't just grab it for no reason. And then when I saw it on
- 3:20his son's wall, I was like, oh, that is so fucking beautiful.
- 3:23That was just like, I think that was just Futurama storytelling and its
- 3:28absolute finest, that drawing on the wall. There's not much I can not
- 3:30much can add to that, dandel in all honesty. Yeah, this is
- 3:32an episode that lands maybe two or three good punches, and their punches that'll
- 3:38just knock you down to the floor. Yeah, yeah, but it was
- 3:42because for me, it was the painting the picture on the wall that was
- 3:44just that got me. That's when I started nearly crying. Yeah, oh
- 3:46yeah, just well, just the naming of future Philip Philip rys. Oh
- 3:53and as of view, you're like, oh shit, that's oh oh yeah.
- 3:58And when you're forced to reevalue everything that's sort of gone before, or
- 4:00you know, even feel in the blanks about certain things again, oh god,
- 4:03it must have been this mess him in that and it's been really hard
- 4:08for this family and all that kind of stuff. Oh you know, we've
- 4:10been the show and yeah, the audience, by extension has sort of been
- 4:15making light of this whole situation of oh wow, he got frozen. Now
- 4:18it's millennium in the future, and anyone from the past who has come in
- 4:23like his girlfriend for example, she didn't really miss him all that much,
- 4:25no, no, but never showed, never showcase the impact of his family
- 4:29losing him, Yeah, and not and not knowing what would have happened.
- 4:31That's the thing they even they never knew. Yeah, so for the show
- 4:36to do that, do it very briefly, but very incisively and insightfully and
- 4:46in a way that didn't feel it didn't feel treaquily. It didn't feel like
- 4:48that. You know, it's sort of like you were being manipulated or anything
- 4:51like this, Like this was just so well done. Yeah, that's unbelievable.
- 4:56Yeah, so, as I said, the importance of sticking the landing,
- 4:59and they really really nailed it. So Yeah, for mine, it
- 5:02was just yeah, where they give the baby the name and Yancey's wife saying,
- 5:10I know what you want to I know, I know what you want
- 5:11to do. Yeah. I just think that that's a very sweet thing.
- 5:15What they do here is that you know, every siblings, there's always going
- 5:17to be rivalries, right, and the position like Yancey is like the the
- 5:23the copy cat, right, but it's like you realize he's copying because he
- 5:26like he wants to be fright. Yeah, he looks up. It doesn't
- 5:28look up to Fry, but it's like he's almost like jealous. But it's
- 5:30like I wish I could be more like it's not so jealousy. It's like
- 5:32I just wish I could be like that. Yeah. Yeah, And we
- 5:36always have have fights and things, you know, if you've got a brother
- 5:39or sister, because you've obviously I'm much older, but like I had a
- 5:42sister with a similar age, and you have your fights and scrabbles, but
- 5:44like at the end of the day that your brother or sister, Oh yeah,
- 5:46absolutely, Yeah, yeah, I certainly squabbles with my sisters. But
- 5:50no, after a while you realize that that's just that's some dumb bullshit.
- 5:58Yeah, the important thing is that you're blood. I try to instill in
- 6:02Alliott and Holly. It's just like, you guys need to be best friends,
- 6:06you know what I mean. Look, don't try and force you guys
- 6:09are friends. But it's like, go play with each other, go hang
- 6:11out. You know, she will be the best thing you probably will ever
- 6:14have, you know, Holli. But yeah, I also I like the
- 6:16way they transition from past the present. Now apparently that form of storytelling is
- 6:20a takeoff, not take off, but inspired by Godfather too. Oh yeah,
- 6:24okay, well that's telling the two stories at the one time, running
- 6:27parallel. Yeah. Yeah, and yeah, two timelines running, yeah,
- 6:32fading into one, fading into one another and informing one another. Yeah,
- 6:35that's that's definitely got Father too. I think the other thing that interested me
- 6:39about this was we're so used to Fry being kind of hapless, yeah,
- 6:44kind of fae of a better ter, a bit of a loser, and
- 6:46to have him be the object of envy, yeah, is really interesting,
- 6:51And I think that's something that maybe threw me for a loop for a while.
- 6:54It's like, wait a minute, you know, isn't Fry goose?
- 6:57Aren't we supposed to be sort of like making fun of them? Why is
- 6:59it? Guy just want to be him? What's wrong with him that he
- 7:01wants to be Philip Fry or be like him? And it explains because he
- 7:06didn't know until he saw that statue. He didn't miss his family or anything
- 7:10he missed. He might have missed them, but he didn't know how much
- 7:13they respected him and loved him because they never really told him until he was
- 7:16gone. They missed that opportunity. So when he looks back and he's like
- 7:19in the pilot episode, he goes, oh, more friends and family they're
- 7:23gone because he doesn't have he didn't know that they missed him like this.
- 7:27Yeah. Yeah, and his mother was kind of a bitch. I was
- 7:29like, I just sort of put off. I was like, well,
- 7:31she's really just non caring. It's odd for the mother to be that way.
- 7:35Not the dad. Well, the parents were kind of a nod bunch.
- 7:38Yeah, I mean he was this survivalist, soul army. Yeah,
- 7:44and she was just what not interesting, preoccupied with sport and all the time.
- 7:48Yeah. I think the other thing that sort of derailed me a little
- 7:51bit was you normally don't see an older sibling jealous of or wanting to emulate
- 7:58a younger sibling all that much. It's normally the other way around, to
- 8:01the best of my understanding, any of the best of my experience, unless
- 8:03you're watching Numbers and Don Epps is jealous of Charlie Epps because of he's he's
- 8:07a genius. You're enjoying Numbers that I was just on. Then sometimes I'm
- 8:13like, hey, Niicol, like, can we finished the Equalizer tonight?
- 8:15She's like, oh, when he got forty five minutes and me, can
- 8:16we just watch the numbers? And I'm like when I finish. Yeah,
- 8:20we finished it the other night, and I'm like, what a fucking good
- 8:22movie. I'm like, I said to Nichola, you know what why I
- 8:26like this better than John Wick spoiler I love John Wick right by John four
- 8:30Wick four, I was like, oh, I'm kind of done now.
- 8:31The Equalizer we only watched it for the first time number one. We finished
- 8:33it yesterday day before. I'm like, he doesn't just go around killing people.
- 8:37It's like they give you. It's like he's bad as atitud because John
- 8:43just goes in just like fights people, where he just walks in and he's
- 8:45not scared of anybody. Denzil Washington is so awesome in this role. And
- 8:48I didn't realize it's an old TV show as well, but real I didn't
- 8:52know it the TV show that's also a new TV show. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:54we've queen the teeth in the roll. But yeah, oh god,
- 8:56the originally it was awesome. It's pretty rare. Oh fuck your co I'm
- 9:01like, Nicholas, we have to find the show. First of all,
- 9:03have you never seen an episode of it at all never Okay, right now,
- 9:07yeah, we've watched the first movie. That's it. I mean to
- 9:09do this right now, going to use you and tie up equalizer theme music.
- 9:13Okay, it is for eighties kids, probably as iconic and bad as
- 9:20advice. My advice is a big one, isn't it? Equalizer theme A
- 9:24tennis up dud. Dude, this is playing as he's equalizing people. No,
- 9:33damn, you're really just really just tuned in for the for the opening
- 9:37credits. Yes, that's so cool. But but we love the I just
- 9:39love the way because, like I was saying, John Wick, he just
- 9:41goes around killing people. He walks in. He's almost mute to right john
- 9:45Wick. But this guy just like goes in and like when he was like
- 9:48in the movie. He's obviously in the mood first movie when he goes in
- 9:52there and stops like Antonio or whatever, and like they've got all this money
- 9:54there and he starts handing out all the money to the people who are like
- 9:58stuck there, working of all the elderly, and he's like, you go
- 10:00home, now take ten game with you. I'm just like, what a
- 10:01fucking badass? Oh yeah, Denzel was very very good casting. But yeah,
- 10:07I mean something that's really rad, and I think they do it throughout
- 10:09all the movies, is anytime that he knows that people have been in an
- 10:13unequal situation, he won't just you know, settle up by fucking guys up.
- 10:18He'll just really get not get in their face, but like you're just
- 10:20scared of them. No, no, I won't what a bad us.
- 10:22Yeah. Maybe in the first one is very much like all right, here's
- 10:26ninety eight hundred dollars. Oh, you're gonna give me ten. I'm gonna
- 10:28give you nine eight hundred dollars. Yeah, they're all giving him ship and
- 10:33he's just like, all right, well, looks I'm going out of the
- 10:35fuck you guys up. But yeah, there's one. Then the third one
- 10:39is out of course you haven't seen it yet, but he's basically in Italy.
- 10:43I sort of read me too much. No, no, no,
- 10:46no, But of course shit needs equalizing. But there are these young punk
- 10:50gangsters who are kind of like, who's this old man trying to give us
- 10:52a grape? And Denzil just first of all, you know, he's sort
- 10:54of don't don't, don't, don't tell me, I don't know what happens,
- 10:58you know, gets upper hand on and then he's just sort of saying,
- 11:01you're not going to do this anymore. You're not gonna be You're going
- 11:05to fuck up anymore. No, no, no, no no. So
- 11:07it's the Mandalorian when he gets those punks. Yeah it was. It was
- 11:09a fat was Boba Fet could have been both had these really stupid that really
- 11:15ship race that chase scene. Actually I look, I can't say anything about
- 11:20because I tuned after one episode. Okay, there's there's there's like his punk
- 11:24kids on the streets and they're like having like a pod race, like really
- 11:26slow pods through the streets of like moss icley kind of. I'm just like
- 11:30it'd be faster to run, and gives them ships. I think they give
- 11:35Boba Fetts ship and Boba FET's just like motherfucker and then like he like he
- 11:39basically no, I actually know what it was. I was annoyed because Boba
- 11:41Fett didn't fight back, and I'm like the Boba Fett that I grew up
- 11:43loving wouldn't be taking this ship. Also, if he's played by Jake the
- 11:46Mask, you shouldn't be you should be anyway, anyway, you neighhod,
- 11:52the thing from the Eagle and your life there is now at least eighty percent
- 11:56better. I can't wait. But speaking of things not getting better, Tom
- 11:58Kenny sit legend of voice acting, right, couldn't get any better. Here's
- 12:01the voice of Yansy in this episode. Ah. Yes, voice of SpongeBob
- 12:05and Dog and cat Dog and so many other things. Oh I love Tom
- 12:09Kenning. Yes, he was part of the with Odenkirk missed the show crew.
- 12:13Yeah, yeah, yeah, and his wife Jill Talley. He was
- 12:16also the narrator of the video that they watched in the episode as well.
- 12:20Yes, so Tom Kenny good get a flit legend? Yes, a few
- 12:24factsbut the episodes is WHI. Before we get into a review of it,
- 12:26So's sports obsessed mother, she notes the day Fried disappeared as the day that
- 12:31Wisconsin won the Rose Bowl in seventeen to nine. This was indeed the outcome
- 12:35of the real eighty six Rose Bowl game held in Pasadena, California on January
- 12:39first, two thousand and Now. I have exactly two trivia questions. When
- 12:46Bender is trying to get into the Ronco record vault, he Bart Simpson head
- 12:48can be seen on the shelf in the background. The close up of the
- 12:52manhole was the logo for the PJS. I think it's the second time the
- 12:54mention pj's on this show. Who reciprocated by putting a picture of fry on
- 12:58a milk carton on the show? The PJS was the Eddie Murphy Show,
- 13:01Wasn't it was Eddie Murphy? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Should it no?
- 13:05Because what was everybody hats Chris? Was Chris Rocks? Yes? There
- 13:09was another one called Baba's Kids, which was by a comedian named Robin Harris
- 13:13who Okay, he left us far too soon, but he was one of
- 13:16the guys and oh I thought he was in a lot of good stuff.
- 13:18But he was hilarious. I never watched the PJS. I don't think I
- 13:22watched it because in the last like one season, yeah, and I don't
- 13:26This was a stage where you know, there are only a few sort of
- 13:31networks. Three seasons, forty four episodes, Okay, I don't recall ever
- 13:33seeing it in Australia. It might have been on Foxtowl. I think it
- 13:37was on Foxtail. Yeah, on Fox eight, But it wasn't like when
- 13:39it stayed forever. It was like once it was on, they put on,
- 13:41it got canceled, and that was just gone forever. Yeah, it
- 13:43was a stop motion I think wasn't it? Was it? I'm pretty sure
- 13:48stop motion. Let's have a look at that more time. The Pj's show.
- 13:52The PJS is an American stop motion animated black sitcom, h there we
- 13:58go, all right, And the translated alien language sign scene at the racetrack
- 14:03says, for some reason, not without my egg case tonight on Lifetime.
- 14:07Oh's my favorite robot. It's me, no one else look in this mirror.
- 14:13Will be your favorite moments from the episode of Dames Well, I I've
- 14:18got Daniel after was standing. Yes, I did enjoy that very much.
- 14:22I like the letter's little jockey, Hey baby, if you do it in
- 14:24a suitcase, and it's pretty good, not unfunny, and Bender's complete ignorance
- 14:33of eighties pop culture. Every like well the Breakfast Club sandtrack. You mean
- 14:35Breakfast Club Sandwich. I'm just like, oh, this guy's got an epic
- 14:41soundtrack vinyl question, but it's me, it really is. I mean,
- 14:46I was about to say, if you look behind you, listeners, if
- 14:48I look behind me, I will see dan O's Wall of Vinyl. He's
- 14:52got some legitimate classics all on vinyl. Tell what you got me for my
- 14:56for Christmas? Yes, for Christmas. I like to think I added my
- 15:00a little bit to the great Wall of Vinyl by giving Dando on Vinyl the
- 15:05center track to the Michael Man movie Tangering Dream. Very impressed. I was
- 15:09impressed you got one that didn't already have as well. I was happy about
- 15:13that because you're like the receipts in the bag in case you don't want.
- 15:16I was like, give me, I don't want this, you might already
- 15:20have it, or you might Ah. I wanted the muppy Christmas can just
- 15:26terribly, No, not at all. I really enjoyed speaking of good taste
- 15:30noticeably Fat. Oh yeah, what a great name. Just the character in
- 15:35general that rewind from your noticeably fat. I thought it was great, and
- 15:41I really enjoyed Billy West finally getting to say Howard Stone is overrated because you
- 15:45know, you know what happened there, right, refresh my memory. So
- 15:48Billy Billy West wotton Howard's third for years, right, and then he fucked
- 15:52Billy over by because how it was just you know how it's Howard and it's
- 15:56all about shock jock stuff. And he had Billy on the show, and
- 15:58Billy the voice of Friend and Stimpy. He wasn't the original voice. I
- 16:02I believe Wren. The original voice of Wren was the guy who created the
- 16:04show. John Yeah, yes, who had issues with the network, and
- 16:07basically they were just like he had issues. Oh, and they came out
- 16:11later on. Yes, the section was like underage girls and stuff. Yeah,
- 16:14yeah, grooming. But this was before that. This is like in
- 16:17the nineties. And he brought John kicked off the show, and he thought,
- 16:22because he got kicked off the show, Billy should have gone with him.
- 16:23And Billy's like, mother fuck it, I'm not going to quit.
- 16:26Oh I need money, He's like, And so he became the voice of
- 16:29Wren as well. They're like, what can you do? Ren? So
- 16:30he became Wren and Stimpy as a result, and John hated him for it,
- 16:33and he's like, slam bl blahlah blah. He wouldn't talk to Billy.
- 16:36So Howard just basically got Billy on the show, and it just brought
- 16:38John into the studio face to face and had them have their first face to
- 16:41face confrontation live on the air. Oh, and it was just like Billy's
- 16:45just sitting there and it's you can watch it's on YouTube. Goes like forty
- 16:49minutes and it's the most awkward thing you ever watch. And Billy's just like
- 16:52they're all ganging up on him, like, why would you do that to
- 16:55him? Billy, wy would you do that to him? Billy's like,
- 16:56I was just you know, I was just I edited a job. And
- 17:00it's just like I feel you feel so sorry for Billy because Billy's like the
- 17:03nicest guy. Yeah, I mean, look, it's it's show business,
- 17:07not show friends, and so that this John guy not a good person.
- 17:10Yeah, you can say sorry as much as you want. Thank you a
- 17:11fuck mate. I'm always reminded. I know, I side the kids in
- 17:15the hall a lot, but there was a there's a bit in this documentary
- 17:18about them where their show is finished and they're like, oh, weh our
- 17:23revenue is drying up. We've better go find other work. And Dave Foley,
- 17:29one of the one of the members of the troupe, gets an audition
- 17:32to be the lead on news radio and takes it and he's like, yeah,
- 17:37look, I mean I've got to I've got to go do this.
- 17:37I mean, I've got a family, I've got to go to make money
- 17:40and all this kind of stuff. And well, the other guy sort of
- 17:44ganged up on him a bit, and you know, he was, yeah,
- 17:47I think they did something to kind of mess him around. And he
- 17:49said, oh, and did you view that as did you view that a
- 17:52betrayal? And he goes, I did so much view it as the betrayal.
- 17:53Has realized that it actually was one, so like it's a way of
- 18:00putting it. But yeah, I was just so glad that Billy finally,
- 18:02how is that has overrated? I was like it would have been so you
- 18:04would just loved that would be absolutely. I mean I used to not look
- 18:08up to Howard's tern, but I was sort of like kind of inspired by
- 18:12Howisted. It's like he was the first guy to kind of like make a
- 18:15career out of just shocked jock but not necessarily always shocking. It was just
- 18:19he's just a man that people almost wasn't he. Yeah, I think you'll
- 18:22find a lot of people who don't necessarily respect everything that Howard Stern does.
- 18:26Still say the guy knows broadcasting. Yeah, he's good at what he does,
- 18:30even if what he does is kind of rank some of the time.
- 18:33I mean, and then he get dickheads like Kyle Sandland who just try to
- 18:36be shocking and it's like everything's manufactured, none of you, nothing about you
- 18:40is real. Yeah, but how many times have you seen Kyle and Jack
- 18:42you have been throwing off the air and I'm like, get fucked. Yeah,
- 18:45but still even look, personally, I think that guy is cancer.
- 18:52But when your whole stick is I'm a horrible person, what are you gonna
- 18:56do about it? Like that's just the same. I kind of semi respect
- 19:00that commitment to the bit because you're going to have. Of course, I
- 19:04don't know what he's like personally, but I imagine, say I had no
- 19:08scruples, I was going to like, I want to make a multi million
- 19:12dollars in broadcasting or in radio whatever, or in boone podcasting even and I'm
- 19:17going to do that by being shocking. And I'm the man you love to
- 19:19hate or I can't believe he gets away with saying But when it comes across
- 19:22like you're just trying to play to the character, it's just I'm just like,
- 19:26because you know, you can't possibly be that much of a dig it's
- 19:27like, ah, that's the thing. I mean, you're going to have
- 19:30people who are It's like, you know that Ricky Gervais show extras, that
- 19:34one where you know, he meets Bowie and Bowie just makes up. Oh
- 19:38we're both in Schobas and Bowie makes up. It's like, oh, you're
- 19:41a little fat man who sold your dream. You know, you're just doing
- 19:44this shit show and I'm David Bowie. Imagine, yeah, if you were
- 19:47just maybe if yours and lends him a David Bowie in the afterlife, or
- 19:53you know, you're someone just super cool who maybe compromise some ways along the
- 19:59way, but really was like, you're pretty fucking good. And it's like,
- 20:02hey, we're in the same as we're not even playing the same fucking
- 20:04sport. Sounds one of the highest paid people in Australia. Yeah, I
- 20:10know, and that kind of sucks, having that degree of commitment to like,
- 20:12all right, I suck. Everybody hates me, but you know,
- 20:17I'm just gonna keep doing it because well, I like getting paid. It's
- 20:18like okay, I mean I think in some stage I would just cash out
- 20:23and just then I'd probably go live in Balley and what's it run a Scooba
- 20:29shop? Was it we're talking about on this podcast? So that was on
- 20:32a different podcast. Yeah, which I may or not even cut out.
- 20:37There's a meaning to that. Yeah that. But anyway, hownset and I
- 20:40got a bit of grudging respect because he had a lot of people say,
- 20:41no, he's actually pretty good interviewer. Yeah, sayone's got no respectful.
- 20:45I want to ask you a question, trivia, mister Davis. Hit me
- 20:48with your first question one of two on the cover of the magazine of subs
- 20:53in Michigan. Okay, what's the name of the magazine, col Warrior?
- 20:57Okay you My first question is what would they win with the break dancing contest?
- 21:06Oh? Man, I instantly thought of you. I was like,
- 21:07I totally would have one of these something autographed. Damn it, I forgotten
- 21:15autograph J Master, J parachute Pants. Oh my god, dear. Except
- 21:18here's the thing. I don't think the members of Running Him, Save a
- 21:22War Parish was confused. Yeah it is. Yeah, I mean Running Him
- 21:25has got a very specific maybe that's it's like, why would you want this
- 21:27sign? It's like getting there, Hey, ice Cube, do you want
- 21:33to sign my copy? Of o g Original Gangs. That's ours t get
- 21:37ice cube to sign a drink of ice tea? What is it? It's
- 21:42it's what you say in this ice Q it's cube. What's the Simpsons one?
- 21:45Where Simber Roger Moore? Who's James Bond se Counry Samper Roger Moore?
- 21:53One other question is whose leg do they walk past in the cemetery? I
- 21:57think I know this, but no I don't. Shacks leg shack? Okay.
- 22:00One more question for you? What station is the end of the line?
- 22:03Oh? Good question. I don't know. What is it? Newkirk
- 22:06Avenue, Brooklyn? Okay. The original editor of The Luck of the Friarish
- 22:10was March eleventh, two thousand and one. It was written by Ron Wiener
- 22:15and Winer w E I n E R. Winer. I think it's win
- 22:19Win although I'm here and a floppy speller? What's that? He wrote for
- 22:25news radio? Oh? Okay, there we go. Full cycle theory of
- 22:30a popcor figured this Gut Yes and directed by Chris Louden. The opening cartoon
- 22:37Boom Boom from nine thirty six. Opening caption broadcasts simultaneously one year in the
- 22:41future. It's not good either. Way, either you're a wiener or you're
- 22:44a whiner. Would you rather be I'd rather be a winning wiener. My
- 22:51wiener is often whining. Yes it is indeed, Yes, some attention.
- 22:56Oh, that's too much attention. The episode kicks off with Old New York
- 23:00and Brooklyn pre med Junior Hospital and it's the Birth of Fry. The dad's
- 23:03reading the magazine. Mum's listening to the baseball she's excited because the Mets have
- 23:07won, yes and namely after a Screwdriver. And Yancey's annoyed because it's Philip.
- 23:12That's Wherehilip comes from. And Yancey is annoyed because you know, he's
- 23:15not Philip. It's instantly from the very get go, he's just he's I
- 23:18want, I want, and I get it. With kids, like,
- 23:22for example, I've said it before, you can be fifty toys in that
- 23:23four Oh yeah, and Allot be watching TV. Ho You'll pick up one
- 23:27of those toys and Alliot it's like, I now want that toy. It's
- 23:30like, why do I have brains? Why they whil like that? That's
- 23:33really interesting and something we should probably look into it because it doesn't go away.
- 23:37It's like you know the song I Want You Back. It's like you
- 23:40break up with a girl and you see he with somebody else, like I
- 23:41want to back now, it's like you didn't want it came out. Yeah,
- 23:45Philip, until I find a suitable model of an ICBM, you'll have
- 23:49to make do learning to fear this toy space crab. And Nancy then takes
- 24:03the ship and throws out and of course that ship is what's on the painting.
- 24:07At the end, we then transition to the present and they arrive at
- 24:11Flushing Downs and basically it's just not going good for Fry, is it.
- 24:15It is not. No, FRI's horse does incredibly bad. Amy's parents they
- 24:19want to just to get the suitcase guy because they want to put the bet
- 24:22on the best jockey ever. Do it in a suitcase I would be kind
- 24:26of awkward. Well particularly I mean, I mean, if this jockey found
- 24:30someone of similar stature, he could probably get a little busy in a in
- 24:34a briefcase maybe, But no, Leila, Leila, no of size.
- 24:40Should we say we have a centaur race? Will mentioning centaurs on our previous
- 24:42podcast, one of the previous ones we did what was the center for Abart
- 24:48brought March back to life as a centaur, but we did discussed minotaur.
- 24:52We were discussing the centaurs and minotaurs. Yes. Leida then gives a kiss
- 24:55for good luck with no tongue, and Fry loses again. And then Leila
- 24:59and her we go for some food, which is horse fed horse double horse
- 25:07juiced in goodness, horse pepsi okay nay. Bender then pretends to be a
- 25:15horse so we can inject them with a coptonin and sedate them so they're all
- 25:18really really tired and slow, and his horse will win. As I said,
- 25:25all the horses are tied in the race, but Harry Trotter his horse,
- 25:26he wins the race by an entire track. And now teach those other
- 25:30horses to take drugs. Then the wind blows Fries one dollar into a machine,
- 25:33which it refuses and it goes into the power line. You know,
- 25:37I do anything for one dollar. Then Fry goes up to the to the
- 25:40wires to get it. It looks like there's not really many gags happening.
- 25:44Is there not a whole I no, I usually like it when I'm on
- 25:47location somewhere like this. Usually remember the beach one, but it gets to
- 25:49lexecuted with the rake and lends in the bin. That's one unlucky guy.
- 25:53And then we cut back to the past and Frying Yancey here with the patent
- 25:56space hook, got the skyhook, but Philip J. Fries got the space
- 26:03hook yet he drives. He goes up with his patent space hook. Hey,
- 26:12that's my patented space hook. You stole it. You're not the president
- 26:17of it. Holy come only a seven leaf clover. I'm dying of old
- 26:26age. Game over. Phil wins. Yancey's fans are stunned. There'll be
- 26:42no celebration at the Antidome Lucky. Then Bendo arrives. He's really really happy.
- 26:48He's he's got lots of lots of money. Someone's in a good mode.
- 26:51I like that. And Fry he wants his clover back. He's like,
- 26:55man, I'll be so much more lucky ever had this clover. And
- 26:59you're telling them all about at it. And he gets his hair from hair
- 27:00Robot. It's the first appearance of hair Robot. Really random robot and just
- 27:03got hair of all the people. But he says that he hit it in
- 27:07a secret hiding place and he didn't tell anybody where. It was not even
- 27:11scruffy, and maybe it's still in the in the in the ground in Old
- 27:15New York. So that's where they get the idea, let's go back there
- 27:18and try and find this clover things. He's going to need someone who's going
- 27:21to be really good at bending, so he asked leader, of course,
- 27:23and bend up. We find out he's he's middle last and last time here
- 27:26bend bending Rodriguez. Rodriguez. Speaking of Rodriguez, who was the that was
- 27:33Gonzales in South Park? Yes, child, Yes, I'm having a lot
- 27:37of fun with Z's today and Gonzalez they go down the sewer. This is
- 27:41where we get the pj's reference on the on the what do they call the
- 27:45manhole cover cover. Yes, whenever we walk over one of those, Ali
- 27:48always says hello to the ninja turtles. It's a bit cute, it is.
- 27:53Indeed, yes, and he falls, Well, he was fun.
- 27:57We come back from commercial and that is roaming around Old New York and I
- 28:00just got here. Imagine like you know, you fell to the fish and
- 28:03you're like, I'm going back to old Geelong and it was just like as
- 28:04it was a thousand years. It'd be so bizarre, wouldn't it. Oh
- 28:07my god? Yeah, I imagine you can go back right now to like
- 28:08seventies Galong, you know, and just walk around and it's and you literally
- 28:12it's it's a it's a zombie zone. There's nothing there, but it's just
- 28:15it's long in the seventies. What where do you think you would visit?
- 28:19Oh? God, there's a place I used to go to nearly every Friday
- 28:23called the Rhad Street Market. That was where was it where a couple of
- 28:30doors down from where the New Pop Cup, well, the New Pop Culture
- 28:33Store is, you know the okay yeah books bookstore? Yeah, and it
- 28:37had it was, yeah, kind of like a bit of a secondhand place.
- 28:41But the thing I've always what do they have? They had food?
- 28:45I remember, I mean, why would you go to get something to eat?
- 28:48Or no? No, I went there because they had a second hand
- 28:49bookstore that they always had comics. Oh cool, And I would go and
- 28:53yeah, look through their second comics. Oh I haven't had this one?
- 28:56And yeah, so albody finds something you haven't got, yeah, collection,
- 29:00like, oh I've heard about this one. I mean, God, bless
- 29:03Margaret Mary. She would take me there on a Friday after school's done,
- 29:06Like can'll get a read street make you just really well, you should just
- 29:08sit in the car and read the papers. That was the video shop for
- 29:11me. I'll just go to video shop, just browse. Yeah, so
- 29:14that's the first place I would go. But then when they had like a
- 29:15rotistory chicken play so I can smell smell of that. There was always some
- 29:21like AM radio station playing and I just remember the just hearing like the easy
- 29:25listening tunes of the ear and oh my happy place. So yeah, that's
- 29:30where I go. So where would you go to the video store do you
- 29:33think of? I'd probably go to the video stores when I was a kid.
- 29:36That was my happy place. It sounds silly, but they were my
- 29:37happy place, the video stores. Yeah, but the New York here the
- 29:41city. Then Spider Casino in Vegas. You've never been in a Vegas?
- 29:44Have you? I never have? You should go there one time? Good
- 29:45fun, just mode, Yes, but where Fry yells a Howard Stern is
- 29:52overrated and he takes the phone off the hook and he's's just trying to it's
- 29:56just doing all the things he never usually could get away with. Tries jaywalking,
- 29:59because oh Giuliani, that's a reference you don't want to really, Oh
- 30:03God, the future is not being It's funny. He was like huge on
- 30:07seign Feld and everything, like he was like it was like the Golden boy
- 30:10man. I think he got very lucky because he was mayor around on September
- 30:15eleven, wasn't he? And he was? Was he? I think he
- 30:17was definitely married ninety eight when Seinfeld was on. Yeah, yeah, I
- 30:19think he was kind of rude, as guys, he's cleaning up New York
- 30:22and he's doing Right Bays, New Yorkers and all that stuff. I think
- 30:26it might have been. Yeah, the September o. He was from ninety
- 30:30four through to two thousand and one. December thirty first he was. He
- 30:32left December thirty first, two thousand and one, Okay, yeah, because
- 30:34I think just immediately post nine to eleven, it was He's America's mayor and
- 30:38all this kind of stuff, and now he's just you know, this fucking
- 30:41weirdo. Well and everyone now remembers him for doing that press conference at the
- 30:45front of that store. Yeah, it was like next to a warmer place.
- 30:48A little bit in the Barret movie where Yes, Dear Rudy name Cosmic,
- 30:56why sat deep Space, Deep Space, get special moved face walk the
- 31:03robot, the robot that's similar to mine, the zero G What are you
- 31:10doing? You totally ripped off my routine? You calling me a biter?
- 31:14Eric? Why do you always have to steal everything from me? Yancy?
- 31:18Find your own life and live it. Stop feeling word Well, I'd like
- 31:22to see you try to steal this the septuple headspin. He's just scratching.
- 31:27No one's ever done more than a quadruple. Oh yeah, noticeably fat rewind
- 31:33the tape, Crazy suck Fry. If I ever see you try anything that
- 31:59crazy again, this crew might just have some new parasupids. Yeah, crazy
- 32:06sucker. See with all of this, though, you sort of wonder how
- 32:09does Fry become the Fry who ends up in the cryogenic container. He seems
- 32:15like a bit of a This guy seems to have a handle on things.
- 32:16We don't really see teenage years, do we. It's just like when he's
- 32:20a kid, Well, how old is he meant to be here? Assuming
- 32:23maybe like twelve ish? Oh gosh, no, I thought they were like
- 32:27fifteen or sixteen or something. Maybe Okay, okay, probably yeah, So
- 32:31I think that was maybe the issue I had early on with this. It's
- 32:35like, yeah, this just seems out of character with lovable loser Fry when
- 32:38it seems like this guy's kind of, you know, on an upward trajectory.
- 32:42Yeah, because he had well, he wasn't carrying around he's like clover
- 32:45anymore. Maybe that's okay, he knew where it was carrying around. Oh
- 32:49yeah, okay, good point, good point. Yes, makes sense.
- 32:52Okay, but it doesn't seem like a because he seems dumb, doesn't he
- 32:55yes, well, not just like bad like it's like, he doesn't seem
- 32:59dumb here, does he know? He seems like relatively switched on. Yeah,
- 33:04but Neart tries to take the clover. Then back in the present,
- 33:06about seventy first Street is where Fry realized I need to go back and try
- 33:08and find that clover. So's I think it's seventy first Street where they lived,
- 33:12needs to get downtown. So bender becomes the train watched closing doors in
- 33:19England. It's mine the Gap, Mine the Gap. They arrive with a
- 33:23homeless guy on the train as well, back in his old neighborhood, and
- 33:28there's the bench where they found some shirts the fire hydrant where they burnt during
- 33:34the summer, set on fire or something. And then this guy, the
- 33:37bushy beard with his socialist newsletter and then it was poorly xerox. The mutant
- 33:42then asks about Andy Goldman. Yeah, I mutated from him. Yes,
- 33:46it seems nice on the neck. He seems nice when he's sober. Then
- 33:51they find Friar's house and man father time surely took it back to this place
- 33:55transition. It looks exactly mum. She puts into the greatest Mum mug,
- 34:02which smashes the mug. She's just not a great mother at all. Kind
- 34:06of explains why Fry never really felt loved. Makes sense to them. Yeah,
- 34:09you can sense that his father would have been like disappointed in him because
- 34:13he's not like the army guy. He's just the guy likes playing asteroids at
- 34:16the pizza parlor. It does not. Yes, I mean we've all had
- 34:20that moment, felt like we disappointed our father's right. Oh god, yeah,
- 34:22I'm just like, Oh, I'm not a hunter who likes going and
- 34:24doing man stuff. I'm just like I'd much rather stay home and watch Simpsons.
- 34:29I'm not an AFL footballer. I am good brother. Watch The Simpsons.
- 34:34Basically they're in the basement. Here is where Fry puts the clover into
- 34:37the record of Vault, and he puts it into which soundtrack the sound track
- 34:40of the Breakfast Club, Breakfast Club. Yes, can't wait till I'm old
- 34:44enough to feel wha he's about stuff? Yeah, so you've got it one
- 34:50day? Yeah, how old he is at this stage? Then what movie
- 34:52came out with? Eighty seven? Yes? No, no, eighty five?
- 34:55Eighty five? Okay that was old by that point. Yeah, because
- 34:59they treat vinyl like it's an old It's funny how like vinyl? Now this
- 35:01would be a cool collection, but in two thousand and one, where the
- 35:06old things that parents have in their in their basement. Yeah, but he
- 35:08puts it in the sleeve of Breakfast Club. They're now in the basement,
- 35:13and like he says, their dads spent years turned this into a bomb shelder
- 35:15and not a single nuclear or water waste. Then the Vault combo is three
- 35:21and they open it up, but they can't get it open. So Bender
- 35:22has to overcome the achilles heel of the design, which I don't know what
- 35:25he does, but he rattles its basically opens it up and Fry finds the
- 35:30soundtrack and as we get the benda gate here you mean sandwich and the clover
- 35:34is gone, and he blames Y. Yes, he must have taken it.
- 35:37And what what records you hold up here? Holds up here Lewis the
- 35:40news sports. That's which rules. Fry then thinks that you must have had
- 35:49he hated me, and obviously we find at the end he didn't. It
- 35:51was a complete opposite. But Leela says, maybe you know, he just
- 35:53didn't have time. Maybe you know, you just you just didn't discuss it
- 35:57with him, you know. And then may find the statue of Yancey with
- 36:00the clover. Well, I think it's Yantsy with the clover and his name.
- 36:05He's the first person on mask he stopped. He stole my life.
- 36:07I can understand why Fry would think this way. He's like, he stole
- 36:09everything, so on my name, he saw my clover, he stole everything
- 36:12about me. Was this an early example of the internet listening in as well?
- 36:15That he was like the first thing that comes up. Do they do
- 36:19they look him up online or something? Or I think that's coming up because
- 36:22they see the video on him don't they Oh okay, yes, yes,
- 36:25but they he patched it and now he broke my hand. They're now taking
- 36:30a statue to the headquarters Planet Express. And you've got the best music at
- 36:36the eddies, one amazing collection. What were the bands? Were the artists?
- 36:38Survivor, Pat Benattar and the cars. I think of something you wouldn't
- 36:45want to be stune by runs around in the desert. Oh, scorpions,
- 36:49scorpions. Yes, Fry are still angry though he took my dream of going
- 36:52into space. You went there this morning to get donuts. There we get
- 36:57the internet browser and I heard them say, fright, and this is what
- 36:59you're Yeah, he said Fry, He's found a video and also goot Friday
- 37:04calendar and ordered some French fries. Philip J. Frye astronaut, philanthropist,
- 37:09entrepreneur, was a great man, truly worthy of narration. Fry was the
- 37:15first man on Mars, a feat that has never since been equal. That
- 37:19should have been me, The ever lucky Fry made his fortune after striking oil
- 37:23in the bathroom of the mansion he had won in a lottery. That's my
- 37:28clover yancey stolen after a whirlwind fling with Icelandic supermodel jord Fry scored a string
- 37:34of top ten hits with his rock band Leaf Seven, known for their hypnotic
- 37:37rhythms, driving baselines and memorable hooks. That's what I'm known for. Phil
- 37:42came in right strummed out this tune. Yeah, and I said, that's
- 37:45the number one record today. Fry spends most of his time in his grave
- 37:50at Orbiting Meadows National Cemetery, buried with the trademark seven Leaf clover that will
- 37:54bring him luck in the next life, perhaps some Egyptians believe. So that's
- 37:59where my clover is. Hey, is that orbiting cemetery near here? It
- 38:02will be in a couple hours. Good Leila Bender, we're going grave robbing.
- 38:07I'll get my kit. Then we get another flashback and Yancey is there
- 38:12in his in his tuxedo getting ready for was his wedding. Yes, yeah,
- 38:15he's got a camouflage tux on because his dad's I think. And I
- 38:20just wish my brother was around to see this. And everyone actually misses him.
- 38:22The mother not so much, but like definitely Yancy, Yeah, absolutely,
- 38:25And Yancy goes rummaging through the records. He wants to find some music
- 38:29for the wedding. And he goes through the box and he finds a white
- 38:31fish flag. Now this is back to a reference of when fries like go
- 38:35white Fish, because remember are on the pier that's right of the cones which
- 38:39are yes. We know the are yes condoms that have been used. Then
- 38:46he sees the picture Phil Rocket drawing age twenty and he keeps it. I'm
- 38:51like, that's going to mean something, and I can't remember what it is,
- 38:52and I was so glad I didn't remember, because I've got to experience
- 38:55it again for the first time. Then he he opens up the vaults and
- 39:00he gets the Breakfast Club. This is too clear at the reception at the
- 39:01end of the day, hang you shit on on the Breakfast Club soundtrack.
- 39:05I'm trying to remember what else is on the breath Club soundtrack? Forget about
- 39:07me. Don't look it up, and you tell me these are absolute bangers,
- 39:10certified bangers or certified snores? All right, but the opposite is it
- 39:15breakfast Club soundtrack? Give me yeah, you're an all right? So let's
- 39:22get it up. The wiki page Let's Get It Up was actually the working
- 39:25title of Marve and Guys let's get it on, and the record going to
- 39:29be like we got to do that. Let's get it on. Everyone can
- 39:32enjoy it. That's much better, So don't you forget about me? Track
- 39:39one very important to have the big one banger on the get go it is
- 39:43and already put it on. It's like, yeah, it's a breafast club
- 39:45right. Track to Waiting by Elizabeth Daily. I don't know it, but
- 39:49you know it's. Well, it's Elizabeth Daily. It's it's the voice of
- 39:52Babe. Yes, yes, fire in the Twilight Wang Chun, it was
- 39:58Wang Chung. It's because every dy Wang Chung tonight they sing turning Japanese.
- 40:01No, that's the vapors as a vapors. Wang Chung is everybody have fun
- 40:06tonight, everybody Wang Chung tonight. Yeah, I'm the dude. Keith Force
- 40:12for so s e y forcy Oh oh yeah, I'm the dude. Yeah,
- 40:17I don't know. Heart Too Hot, Too Hold by Jesse Johnson and
- 40:22Stephanie Sproul. Well that sounds just the most eighties thing ever. Yeah.
- 40:25Dream Montage by Gary Change. We Are Not Alone by Carla DeVito. Is
- 40:30that like who performing meat Loaf? Yeah? Yeah, I'll say this for
- 40:36John Hughes movies. I think a lot of them made pretty well, but
- 40:38they always had really great sound tracks and a fantastic taste in like getting John
- 40:43Williams for Home Alone. Yeah, but English new wave stuff always. You
- 40:45always put great songs in his soundtracks. Yeah, even if I don't remember
- 40:50half of these. The reggae Keith Force, didn't I tell you, Joyce
- 40:53Kennedy and love theme Keith. I think Keith. I feel like Keith Force
- 40:59is probably maybe that's like he's music. Maybe he's like score, I think
- 41:02so. Yeah, Yeah, because Sarry Gary Chang's a soundtrack composer, He's
- 41:07done a bunch of this. Okay, maybe it's a lot of us just
- 41:08music. Yeah. Anyway, I think people generally remember don't you Forget about
- 41:13Me from there during the freeze frame at the end. But yes, so
- 41:19he's grabbed that record out and try and clear out the reception, and this
- 41:21is where the clover falls out and we come back to the present time and
- 41:24they arrive at the cemetery and he's been buried in the world hero section.
- 41:30They salute as they enter. Bender just used the shuffle to his head,
- 41:32so they what past the various things like Shak's leg and two of the unknown
- 41:36comic. Then Bender is digging up that John larn Catt's spine, John Larry
- 41:40Keett Laryn Kett. Who's John Lary Kett? John Larrickket's an actor who was
- 41:45on night Court? Okay, the original night Court, and that's the one
- 41:49that takes off the recent reboot, the one that Kramer takes off when he's
- 41:52been the detective. Is that night Court? I don't think so. What
- 41:55was the show when he's like the guy they think that he stole the vas
- 42:00or whatever it was off the off Oh god, no, I've forgotten Anyway,
- 42:02a bit about John Larrachett, just quickly. He's a very tall dude
- 42:07who generally plays sort of sardonic, sarcastic guys. Night Court was probably his
- 42:12best known role. I think he had a couple of sitcoms and like named
- 42:14after him. He might have been the lead in like a very short lived
- 42:19or even killed it killed from the very beginning it was Dragnet. Dragnet.
- 42:22Oh yeah, remake of American remake of Faulty Towers. Okay, there was
- 42:27an American remake of Faulty Towers. I think so, Yeah, I don't
- 42:30think it actually went anywhere. I remember they're going to like reboot that recently,
- 42:32and then I was like, oh, John Cliss, Yeah right,
- 42:35it would be the most like homophobic and I'm just like, maybe just let
- 42:38him make it first. Yeah. But fun fun fact about John Larrickett.
- 42:45He narrated the opening sequence of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Shit, yeah
- 42:52you want he spine on your collection, and wouldn't you? Absolutely, But
- 42:57Fry He's now at the grave of the original Martian and he thinks, obviously
- 43:02it's it's Yancy and it's clovering time. Clovering time, you should say yes,
- 43:07which is a takeoff of which superhero that's the thing from the Fantastic Four.
- 43:09He'd always say it's clobing time. He should sure would? They start
- 43:13digging, and Fry notices some moss on the on the gravestone away. He
- 43:17starts reading it flashback and it's now now it's where the tears start. So
- 43:22it's Yancey and he's got his baby, and he gives his baby the clover
- 43:25because once blonde to someone very special, and you're like, oh, wait
- 43:29a minute, wait a minute, what's happening here. And then as you
- 43:32were saying, his wife's I know you want to call me names h Philip
- 43:36J. Fry and he puts him down in the bedroom and I see the
- 43:38fucking picture on the wall and it's like, oh my god, this is
- 43:40so sad but so beautiful at the same time. It's not sad. It's
- 43:45a sad because it's just lovely. It's sad. It's it's sad because he
- 43:50never got to tell Fry what he thought. But now Fry knows because like
- 43:52I said, that's not sad, but it's just sad that Yancey's life he
- 43:57never got to experience it, but Fry knows. And he named for his
- 44:00uncle to carry on his spirit. And it's like, how fucking beautiful is
- 44:02it? It's a very nice It's what you want on you to mton Like
- 44:07this is up there with like Simpson's episodes, like You've got like a Maggie
- 44:10Make three where it's like do it for her. This is this is their
- 44:13version of do it for her. It really is. Yeah, it's yeah,
- 44:15I'm much more to say, it's very sweet. Bender then gets the
- 44:20cloth so he's still digging, so Fry is not really paying attention. He
- 44:22found the corpse, and the corpse a little bit and he's got the the
- 44:27clover and the wedding ring. Sorry, ladies, taken, I love it.
- 44:30So you're going to rough up the corpse a little bitter, yeah,
- 44:34but one part of me was like, I wish they didn't dig up the
- 44:36body. But then I guess then in that moment, so Fry could put
- 44:38the clover back yes on. But it's like the idea of looking at the
- 44:43corpse of yeah, true, yeah, but but yeah, so Leila and
- 44:47Benagraph who gets do some more digging because he once go short of the mousketier
- 44:51of Union, and Fry puts the clover back on on Fry on Phillips and
- 44:55his corpse. Becauesse you could say, as don't you forget about Me?
- 44:59Plays in the back as we pan out, and it's just, yeah,
- 45:00the perfect ending. It's a really really great ending, a perfect ending,
- 45:05right, it certainly is. I mean, it's a fantastic last I don't
- 45:07know what three to five minutes, the last two minutes of particularly just like
- 45:12whoa. Yeah, as I said, it makes it makes the whole episode
- 45:15feel special. It does, which yeah, I would sort of had mixed
- 45:17feelings throughout the episode. I mean, looking at it in hindsight, it's
- 45:21like, look, a lot of it is still it could have been done
- 45:24a bit better, but it's all in service of just a really really really
- 45:30really great ending, one that just makes you feel all the feelings. Yes,
- 45:35and so it's worth it. Yeah. I mean sometimes you have to
- 45:37have that trade off if you think kind of made it somewhat mundane just to
- 45:42sort of make the end. Yeah, I reckon that could be the case.
- 45:45And that's a real gamble, isn't it. Because you don't want to
- 45:47make this this is a sweet emotional story like of a sibling, right that
- 45:52you don't have to You want to make it sci fi and crazy. You
- 45:54didn't have too many characters in it was just you know, the main three.
- 45:57You want to keep it ground. Absolutely. It also shows the importance
- 46:00of having faith in the show that has warranted it up until this point.
- 46:04I mean there's Featuruma hasn't done to too many bad episodes up unto this point.
- 46:07So I think you can look at and go, Okay, look I'll
- 46:09give these guys, I'll trust these guys. Yeah, And even if I'm
- 46:13not sure exactly where they're taking me. It means you might think, think,
- 46:15you know, everyone's winning street breaks sometimes, but even you know,
- 46:20with everything that's taken into account here, everything this episode has that maybe isn't
- 46:25quite right. The fact that it gets this bit so right, yeah makes
- 46:29it a really good episode. Oh, great episode. Yeah, one of
- 46:31my favorites there. So I was just looking up here the episode one and
- 46:37Any Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Writing in Animated Television Production. How did
- 46:42this not win the Emmy? Yeah, it must have been some must have
- 46:45been some great episodes, I imagine, so, but yeah, one of
- 46:47my favorite episodes of Futurama. And I'm just I can't believe as such a
- 46:52big future of a fan that I forgot about the painting on the wall like
- 46:53that was just like so great to be able to experience that that again.
