- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Red Beret has returned to radio. Curtis Lee
- 0:05Speaker 1: Wall guest host the Mark Simone Show on sevent ten. Woor,
- 0:16Speaker 1: substituting for Mark, will be back on January second. So
- 0:22Speaker 1: I want to tiptoe around the tulips a little bit
- 0:26Speaker 1: and talk about Somalians and ripoffs of the taxpayers. Cause
- 0:32Speaker 1: a lot of sensitive people out there. They know that
- 0:34Speaker 1: I know where all the bones are buried and who
- 0:36Speaker 1: buried it. So I'll do a tiny tim dance around
- 0:42Speaker 1: the tulips a little bit. So it's to not aggravate
- 0:46Speaker 1: Mark upon his return. Play the ukulele? Who's Who's his girlfriend?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Remember he saw it on Ed Sullivan and quite a
- 0:56Speaker 1: merv Griffin the talk shows. Remember who is it? A
- 0:59Speaker 1: quick little trip? Do you hear? One eight hundred three
- 1:01Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten? That's one eight hundred three
- 1:05Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten. Who's the girlfriend? Then he
- 1:09Speaker 1: played the ukulele too. But also I just want to
- 1:14Speaker 1: before we talk about Somalian I give you a geography
- 1:17Speaker 1: and a history lesson, and a lesson about ripoffs that
- 1:21Speaker 1: didn't start with the Somalians actually started. I first learned
- 1:24Speaker 1: about them in nineteen seventy five. And it wasn't in Minnesota,
- 1:29Speaker 1: was right in our tri state area. Get ready. But
- 1:33Speaker 1: as Tom Cuddy brought to my attention our program director
- 1:36Speaker 1: here WOR, you got to get the inside radio edition.
- 1:40Speaker 1: The headline Curtis Sleewer's radio persona resonates with a new generation.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And as you know, I'm on here my new found
- 1:50Speaker 1: friendly station at seven ten WOR that I Nancy listened to.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But there's another station on also that's broadcasting talk and
- 1:58Speaker 1: that's WNYC, which I actually was there for a while.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Believe it or not. You've been in this business, you've
- 2:05Speaker 1: been fired, you've been hired. That's just the nature of it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's like counting the rings of a tree to determine
- 2:11Speaker 1: how long the tree is out. So yes, they I'm
- 2:15Speaker 1: out there, and there are a number of Zorinistas. They
- 2:20Speaker 1: listened to WNYC and Brian Lair he's been on forever,
- 2:24Speaker 1: like from ten to twelve, and apparently he had a
- 2:27Speaker 1: contest on his show and the first question was which
- 2:34Speaker 1: mayoral candidate listened to edm in this last mayoral election,
- 2:43Speaker 1: And apparently a caller a Zorin East and nailed it
- 2:47Speaker 1: first right out of the box. At the start of
- 2:49Speaker 1: his program. Oh that's Chainsmokers, you know, Curtis EDM electronic
- 2:54Speaker 1: dance music, that's for sure. Under the Kasjusco bridge. We
- 2:58Speaker 1: saw Nancy and him there like really grooving into it,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and it was. It was a great concert. And we
- 3:06Speaker 1: love Chainsmokers all their songs, but especially Don't Let Me Down.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I liked the version with Daya singing. And then you
- 3:14Speaker 1: got to Alex Paul and Drew Taggart and this is
- 3:18Speaker 1: what we do in the wee hours in the morning
- 3:19Speaker 1: to decompress at the Slattle household with our six cats.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That's tried. If you don't like it, tough noogies. But
- 3:27Speaker 1: we listened to a lot of EDM and we watched
- 3:31Speaker 1: the reruns of the Office. As I told you, my
- 3:35Speaker 1: favorite episode is the snowball fight. Was that not great?
- 3:41Speaker 1: You know when there was a little dusting of snow
- 3:42Speaker 1: and Scranton, Pennsylvania. Now there's a threat of more inclement
- 3:46Speaker 1: weather in the anyway, the point is that's what we
- 3:49Speaker 1: do to decompress. I cannot listen to talk radio all day. Sorry,
- 3:55Speaker 1: gives me a headache, gives me a migraine. It's two
- 3:59Speaker 1: repetitious it's like you want to do good talk radio,
- 4:03Speaker 1: You've got to do two hours of preparation for every
- 4:05Speaker 1: one hour on the air, and you gotta be entertaining.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't need to hear what was on the news
- 4:11Speaker 1: from the day before. I got it already. But maybe,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like you'll hear coming up a little education on Somalians
- 4:18Speaker 1: and Somali's and also the ripoffs that have taken place
- 4:22Speaker 1: there that have gotten everyone bent out of shape, as
- 4:25Speaker 1: they should. But now that it's started, and this is good, FBI,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know, Department of Homeland Service says, are we gonna
- 4:35Speaker 1: do that in other communities, including amongst many of our
- 4:38Speaker 1: political allies in France. Oh, that maybe is where you
- 4:44Speaker 1: want to draw the line. But anyway, high five to
- 4:47Speaker 1: Lenny Lowpate of having me as the first question out
- 4:51Speaker 1: of the box. Quick point I had been fired. I
- 4:55Speaker 1: think it was like ninety three, right at the point
- 4:59Speaker 1: that Rudy Juliet He was elected mayor, and as I mentioned,
- 5:01Speaker 1: I went to his inauguration sitting there watching little Andrew
- 5:05Speaker 1: Giuliani climb up the podium at Chris Farley popularized on
- 5:10Speaker 1: Saturday Night Live. Those were great bits, but also David Dinkins,
- 5:15Speaker 1: who I did not support, felt was a horrible mayor,
- 5:19Speaker 1: was a gentleman and attended the inauguration to show the
- 5:22Speaker 1: passing of the mayoralty. And Rudy calls me up. He says,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I understand you got fired at WABC. I like you
- 5:33Speaker 1: to come over to WNYC, which at that time was
- 5:37Speaker 1: owned by the City of New York along with its
- 5:39Speaker 1: TV station. And when we said we got to get
- 5:41Speaker 1: out of the business of subsidizing radio and TV, we
- 5:46Speaker 1: got these two big sticks. I'm sure there are commercial
- 5:49Speaker 1: outlets that'll be more than happy to have them. I
- 5:52Speaker 1: want you to come over do a program. You know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: they're all bent out of shape thinking you're going to
- 5:56Speaker 1: come over and just do it about communities. Nobody knows
- 5:59Speaker 1: more about New York City than you. I said, of course,
- 6:01Speaker 1: we couldn't know everything about the three hundred and fifty
- 6:03Speaker 1: neighborhoods in make up the city. And I went over
- 6:06Speaker 1: there and it was like mixing a moan you with bleach.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They were all bent out of shape. Oh, very liberal,
- 6:14Speaker 1: very progressive. And the guy on before me, because I
- 6:16Speaker 1: was on from two to four, was the cultural guy,
- 6:20Speaker 1: Lenny Lopate. No longer alive. And he introduced me to
- 6:25Speaker 1: the audience by saying, and now you're gonna hear from
- 6:29Speaker 1: the guy that was forced on to us by Mayor
- 6:32Speaker 1: elect Rudy Giuliani, a guy who, uh, the best he
- 6:36Speaker 1: can do is read magazine covers and comic books. And
- 6:41Speaker 1: I said, oh, really, Lenny, huh, that's that's all I'm
- 6:44Speaker 1: known for reading magazine covers and comic books. And then
- 6:48Speaker 1: he broke wild on me. He just he lost it.
- 6:52Speaker 1: He said, I know you. You went to a prestigious Jesuit
- 6:55Speaker 1: high school. They kicked you out Brooke Prep. I went
- 6:58Speaker 1: to Eastern District High School. I lived in a coldwater
- 7:01Speaker 1: flat where the toilet was all the way down. We
- 7:04Speaker 1: had to share it on the floor. Guy went, I
- 7:06Speaker 1: mean wild, He went ghetto Wamie. I lasted all the
- 7:12Speaker 1: seven months I could not be there. That was not
- 7:16Speaker 1: my place to be WNYC. And I ended up being
- 7:19Speaker 1: hired back at WABC. Had to do overnights by a
- 7:22Speaker 1: guy named Don Belucas, who was the general manager because
- 7:25Speaker 1: the program director, John Minelly said, you will never work
- 7:28Speaker 1: here at WABC, and I come on, I noticed business. Okay,
- 7:32Speaker 1: they come, they go and I got back there, but
- 7:37Speaker 1: I shout out to Lenny Loped you know, he was
- 7:39Speaker 1: one of the three moderators in that second debate. It
- 7:44Speaker 1: broke all records in terms of people watching. The New
- 7:46Speaker 1: York one hosted at LaGuardia Community College. You had Eron Lewis,
- 7:50Speaker 1: he was the moderator. You had Katie Katie Hanlin oh Man,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I is pronouncing a name, I'll get it right from
- 8:00Speaker 1: the city. And then of course there was Brian Lair
- 8:05Speaker 1: and they had It was a good debate, a fair debate,
- 8:08Speaker 1: fair to CuMo, fair to me, fair to Zoran. Although
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's the one he was schmitzing it. Remember that's the
- 8:14Speaker 1: one where we had him on the ropes. It was
- 8:17Speaker 1: a tko, it wasn't a kao. And all of this
- 8:20Speaker 1: leading into his inauguration and as I said, the song
- 8:25Speaker 1: by the Clash, the greatest counterculture band of all time.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Should I stay or should I go? Hmm to be determined,
- 8:36Speaker 1: but it is likely the cheechin Chog album. Remember Class, Class,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Class and everyone shut up? Was that system? Mary Mark
- 8:50Speaker 1: and common Sita whatever. We're gonna have a little lesson
- 8:54Speaker 1: on Somalia since everyone is a newfound expert on the
- 8:58Speaker 1: corruption in Minneso soda that has come with the migration
- 9:03Speaker 1: of refugees from the Somalian Civil War. It occurred back
- 9:08Speaker 1: in the early nineties. Remember it was Bush forty one
- 9:11Speaker 1: who was going to bring him bread and peace and love.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, the warlords turned their
- 9:17Speaker 1: guns on the Americans and we were at war. There's
- 9:21Speaker 1: no other way to describe it. Oh, it's a police action. No,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it was a war. And again, Somalia was part of
- 9:31Speaker 1: the Italian provinces then Benito Mussolini was before World War Two. Somalia.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Then there was Eritrea, always at war with Ethiopia, and
- 9:42Speaker 1: then of course Libya before Momar Kaddafi came around with
- 9:46Speaker 1: in his drug induced psychosis. They were all Italian provinces.
- 9:49Speaker 1: You know. I found out about it. I was gone
- 9:52Speaker 1: to our Lady of Miracles rectory where the head preach,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the monseignor was u Father Simonetti, and he had a
- 10:03Speaker 1: big picture of Benito Mussolini taking care of older natives
- 10:09Speaker 1: from and that case was Ethiopia. My mother had taken
- 10:12Speaker 1: me there because she wanted me to be an altar boy.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I did not want to be an Aultipoy for a
- 10:17Speaker 1: lot of reasons, you know what I'm hinting at. But
- 10:21Speaker 1: I was patronizing the Monta Signor Father Siminetti, who was
- 10:25Speaker 1: eyebailing me a little too nicely, and he was explaining
- 10:30Speaker 1: to me how Yeah, Benito Massolini was a benevolent dictator.
- 10:33Speaker 1: He took care of the people in Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Libya.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It would have been better for them better. Wasn't he
- 10:43Speaker 1: our enemy? Yeah? Yeah, but there was a lot of misunderstandings.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I knew right then and there. I didn't want to
- 10:48Speaker 1: be anywhere near this mun signor Father Semene years ahead.
- 10:55Speaker 1: He is one of many of the priests that were
- 10:57Speaker 1: found to be perving yep altar boys, in which the
- 11:04Speaker 1: Archdiocese of Brooklyn, Queens was paying out millions and millions
- 11:07Speaker 1: of dollars. You see. My intuition was, Mom, Francesca, my
- 11:12Speaker 1: beloved mother, who would go to the Lvena's, would go
- 11:15Speaker 1: to the stations of the Cross whenever cursed, would do
- 11:17Speaker 1: the rosaries. Mom, I'm not becoming an altar boy. So
- 11:21Speaker 1: I became a choir boy, and you wore all red
- 11:23Speaker 1: and the nuns took care of you. The nuns. They
- 11:25Speaker 1: were pious, they were chased, they were true believers, they
- 11:29Speaker 1: were married to Jesus Christ. They had the wedding band armed.
- 11:32Speaker 1: You went into the rectory. Boy, the priests were ostentageous. Hey,
- 11:37Speaker 1: you know, where'd you get this? You didn't get this
- 11:39Speaker 1: carpet from Kalfmy carpet, that's for sure. Wow, that looks
- 11:42Speaker 1: like design of furniture. Trust me, never liked the priests.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I always trusted the nuns. And that's where my intuition
- 11:53Speaker 1: saved me at that point from who knows, possibly becoming
- 11:55Speaker 1: another victim of that monster. But let's talk all about
- 11:59Speaker 1: some Many of you became familiar with Somalia when you
- 12:03Speaker 1: were in your rock and roll days, you know, following
- 12:06Speaker 1: David Bowie, Ziggy Stardust, You remember those great albums. You
- 12:11Speaker 1: wouldn't know is he that's before your time, The Rising
- 12:14Speaker 1: Fall of Ziggi, Stardust, Starman, h Space. Out of these
- 12:19Speaker 1: were great. But he married Iman. Whenever you're a one
- 12:24Speaker 1: named person, you're like super spectacular share Iman. She was
- 12:30Speaker 1: a high profile model for Haasace Calvin Kleines. She had
- 12:34Speaker 1: been married at Spencer Heywood, the basketball player. They divorced.
- 12:38Speaker 1: She had been born in Mogadishu, well before Black Hawk Down.
- 12:44Speaker 1: By the way, that reminds me a black Hawk Down.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You know what that was the result of Bill Clinton
- 12:50Speaker 1: was in charge at the time, and he was seeking
- 12:52Speaker 1: out the warlord Adid, who by the way, was doing
- 12:56Speaker 1: interviews with every network in the world. You know, he
- 13:00Speaker 1: got We're out there, gonna find a deed. He's right
- 13:02Speaker 1: there Morgadishu's doing interviews at CNN, with Fox News Channel
- 13:06Speaker 1: to be beachd couldn't find them, so they send the
- 13:11Speaker 1: helicopters in to get our deed, the warlord, and uh,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you know the disaster they followed. By the way, our
- 13:19Speaker 1: deed's son was a United States Marine translator at that
- 13:24Speaker 1: time for the Marines that were in Somalia. He had
- 13:30Speaker 1: been raised in Long Beach, California. When his father died
- 13:34Speaker 1: because we never got him guests who went back to
- 13:37Speaker 1: Somalia from Long Beach, California and declared himself to be
- 13:42Speaker 1: the warlord taking over for his father. What a mess.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And then of course the Somalian pirates during the time
- 13:51Speaker 1: of the Smooth Operator, Barack Obama so much about Somalia
- 13:55Speaker 1: and so many of you have no idea where it
- 13:57Speaker 1: is in the map on its history is all you
- 14:00Speaker 1: want to know is about all the fraud as you
- 14:02Speaker 1: should want to know of what may be ten billion
- 14:06Speaker 1: dollars they got ripped off from the tax bears. When
- 14:10Speaker 1: we come back, I'll explain a little bit of that.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But then I'll say, we're not gonna stop here, are we?
- 14:16Speaker 1: Because you know they're Democrats, they voted in a block
- 14:19Speaker 1: they vote in a block code language. We're not gonna
- 14:24Speaker 1: stop here, are we. We're gonna go after our friends too,
- 14:27Speaker 1: those that are supportive of our politics, those who have
- 14:31Speaker 1: ripped us off over the years to the tune of
- 14:33Speaker 1: billions and billions of dollars. Right we are. We're gonna
- 14:36Speaker 1: go the whole nine yards, right, FBI, all the federal agencies.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Not just after our perceived political enemies. We're gonna go
- 14:45Speaker 1: after our friends. Still want to bet we don't. One
- 14:48Speaker 1: eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. That's one
- 14:52Speaker 1: eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. It's seven
- 14:55Speaker 1: ten w R. This is your new place to be.
