- 4:27Dan Schulz: Ever open your water bill and think, "That can't be right.
- 4:31Dan Schulz: No puddles, nothing dripping, but the number doubled"?
- 4:34Dan Schulz: We ask Lincoln Spencer from Simply Leak Detection what's actually going on.
- 4:39Lincoln Spencer: It's actually very normal to have that situation, even though it seems weird to people that there's no visible water.
- 4:46Lincoln Spencer: Most often we get calls like that and the water is just draining straight down into the ground.
- 4:51Lincoln Spencer: And it really depends on the soil type, especially if they have very gravelly or rocky soil.
- 4:57Lincoln Spencer: It makes it easier for the water to just drain down.
- 5:00Lincoln Spencer: And in most of the calls we get, there is no visible water.
- 5:05Lincoln Spencer: So people just think, "Oh yeah, there's gonna be water all over."
- 5:08Lincoln Spencer: But if it was, they wouldn't be calling us.
- 5:10Lincoln Spencer: And it takes a lot of water pressure and a big leak for it to actually surface three feet above where that water pipe is buried up to the ground.
- 5:18Jennifer Davis: Simply Leak Detection finds the leaks you can't see.
- 5:22Jennifer Davis: Call 253-800-1412 or go to simplyleakdetection.com and tell them The Best of Redmond sent you.

- 5:38Dan Schulz: Redmond wants to build a teen center, and they're asking actual teenagers what should go in it.
- 5:44Dan Schulz: The first teen-only drop-in is Wednesday from two thirty to four thirty PM at the Redmond High School Library.
- 5:51Dan Schulz: It's for ages twelve to eighteen or anyone in middle or high school.
- 5:56Dan Schulz: There's free food and hands-on activities and no names get collected, just ideas.
- 6:02Dan Schulz: If you can't make it Wednesday, a second session is on Thursday, October first from six to eight PM at the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village.
- 6:12Jennifer Davis: It's time for the Redmond History Minute where we share a piece of history, a tidbit, or some trivia about life in and around Redmond.
- 6:22Jennifer Davis: So today's trivia question is: in 1928, the city bought the land for Redmond's very first park.
- 6:30Jennifer Davis: How much did they pay?
- 6:32Jennifer Davis: Your choices are A, $500; B, $1; C, $10,000; boy, these are all over the place; or D, they just traded a firetruck for it.
- 6:45Jennifer Davis: And your time starts now
- 6:48Dan Schulz: 10,000, $10,000 in 1928 would be probably like, let me do the math, inflation, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba.
- 6:55Dan Schulz: That has to be over $50 trillion.
- 6:58Dan Schulz: So I don't think it's that.
- 6:59Dan Schulz: I don't think they traded a...
- 7:01Dan Schulz: You know what?
- 7:01Dan Schulz: I'm gonna say they traded a firetruck for it.
- 7:05Jennifer Davis: it does seem like the most Redmond thing to do, doesn't it?
- 7:08Dan Schulz: Yeah
- 7:10Jennifer Davis: Well, the answer is B.
- 7:12Jennifer Davis: It's, was just a dollar.
- 7:14Jennifer Davis: The Redmond School District sold the land to the city for $1.
- 7:18Jennifer Davis: It became the Redmond City Park, and for 30 years it was the only park in Redmond.
- 7:24Jennifer Davis: Then in 1938, the WPA built two log cabins and a picnic shelter there.
- 7:30Jennifer Davis: A man named Albert Andy Anderson became the park's first superintendent, and he spent years volunteering to keep it up.
- 7:38Jennifer Davis: The park was later renamed Albert Anderson Memorial Park in his honor, and now it's on the National Register of Historic Places.
- 7:46Jennifer Davis: Redmond's whole park system started with just a buck
- 7:50Dan Schulz: Oh man, I love that story, and I wanna make it known right now, Jennifer and I love this town.
- 7:55Dan Schulz: We love it with all our heart, and we are ready to take our entire profit from The Best of Redmond, and we are willing to spend 10 times more than that if they would name a park after us.

- 8:46Dan Schulz: The owner apparently spent three years training with a bladesmith In Seiki, Japan.
- 8:52Dan Schulz: Now, none of this is confirmed.
- 8:54Dan Schulz: We don't know who the owner is, what the space is.
- 8:57Dan Schulz: We don't even know if it's gonna happen.
- 8:59Dan Schulz: It's definitely a rumor.
