Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production. Well, hello Ordra,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello Aaron. This is a very exciting roundtable that we're
- 0:16Speaker 1: about to have because at time of listening, it is
- 0:20Speaker 1: just one day, twenty four hours maybe a little bit
- 0:24Speaker 1: more until the first of the two Taskmaster live shows.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It is really the day I'm arriving in Colorado.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yes, oh, that's amazing. We will be in each other's
- 0:36Speaker 1: presence when this podcast is released to the world.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm so excited.
- 0:41Speaker 3: When you're listening to this, I'll have met erin in
- 0:43Speaker 3: real life.
- 0:47Speaker 1: This is a screen, but we are right now recording
- 0:51Speaker 1: through a screen traditionally. So yes, Aaron, I want to
- 0:56Speaker 1: talk to you about the idea to do this for
- 0:59Speaker 1: the three hundred episode. Why task Master? What was it
- 1:03Speaker 1: that made you think this is what it needs to be?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Well, it started way back in I guess you would
- 1:09Speaker 2: call it season one of bfy tw when we were
- 1:12Speaker 2: rolling along because I was already pretty much fairly in
- 1:15Speaker 2: love with task Master and my buddy Hay was too,
- 1:19Speaker 2: and we knew when we started that podcast that Jorge
- 1:23Speaker 2: was sickly we might not have, you know, the world's
- 1:26Speaker 2: greatest amount of time with him, So we wanted to
- 1:29Speaker 2: do some really fun things and task Master was one
- 1:31Speaker 2: of the ones that came up, and Jorge was all
- 1:33Speaker 2: for it. He was immediately all for it. He you
- 1:36Speaker 2: guys never met him, but he was a massive man.
- 1:38Speaker 2: He was about six ten, you know, he was very
- 1:41Speaker 2: tall dude. So he was Greg Davies in stature, yes,
- 1:45Speaker 2: and he also had a very very twisted, very rough
- 1:49Speaker 2: and tumble sense of humor. So it just seemed the
- 1:52Speaker 2: natural fit to make him the task Master, and so
- 1:55Speaker 2: we did, and that was episode sixty four, and it's
- 2:00Speaker 2: I'm so glad we got to do it with him,
- 2:03Speaker 2: because we lost Jorge at a round episode sixty nine,
- 2:07Speaker 2: So it was just so perfectly bittersweet that we got
- 2:11Speaker 2: to have that moment with him. And there are moments
- 2:14Speaker 2: from it that I will treasure forever, like Stevie taking
- 2:17Speaker 2: five minutes to list a single adverb one of the
- 2:22Speaker 2: funniest things I've ever seen, and I've never in my
- 2:26Speaker 2: entire life seen Jorge laugh that hard. It was so
- 2:30Speaker 2: so perfect, so perfect, So of course we took a
- 2:33Speaker 2: lot of joy from that. And even after he passed,
- 2:36Speaker 2: he said he told us that he wanted us to continue,
- 2:39Speaker 2: not only be a fy tw but he wanted us
- 2:41Speaker 2: to do task Master again, so naturally, I thought, when
- 2:45Speaker 2: we hit episode one hundred, let's just do it. Let's
- 2:48Speaker 2: do it, And I thought, I knew how much work
- 2:51Speaker 2: it was going to be to do it, and I
- 2:55Speaker 2: kind of did. But the second the episode one hundred
- 2:58Speaker 2: version of our task Master, it was a lot harder
- 3:00Speaker 2: for a number of reasons, a lot harder on me
- 3:02Speaker 2: in the edit, so we kind of shelved it for
- 3:05Speaker 2: a while. You know. Yeah, I had originally wanted to
- 3:08Speaker 2: do task Master again for episode two hundred, that is,
- 3:11Speaker 2: you know, did not wind up happening. We wound up
- 3:13Speaker 2: doing a bunch of charity game shows instead. I still
- 3:16Speaker 2: think was a great choice. It was a blast, but
- 3:18Speaker 2: it was always there in my mind, and it was
- 3:20Speaker 2: always at the back of my head, just just like
- 3:22Speaker 2: an itch that I couldn't scratch, and I'm like, I
- 3:25Speaker 2: gotta do it at least one more time, and I
- 3:27Speaker 2: want to do a proper series this time. So we
- 3:31Speaker 2: were like, Okay, if we do this, we got to
- 3:33Speaker 2: plan it out well ahead of time. So we literally
- 3:35Speaker 2: started one year ago, probably probably not to the day,
- 3:39Speaker 2: but about a year ago. We started planning, I started
- 3:43Speaker 2: asking people if they wanted to be involved. I didn't
- 3:46Speaker 2: have any trouble finding people wanting to be involved. YouTube
- 3:49Speaker 2: jumped right.
- 3:49Speaker 1: In, Oh yeah, surprise, surprise, And I was.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Like, of the two of you, I think either would
- 3:54Speaker 2: be a fun task master, but I I just wanted
- 3:58Speaker 2: Audre to be, so I asked you to do it
- 4:00Speaker 2: because I just thought you'd be. I don't know what
- 4:03Speaker 2: it is like. Matt is very biting in his in
- 4:05Speaker 2: his witticism, so he would have done a great job too,
- 4:08Speaker 2: But I don't know why. I just thought Matt would
- 4:10Speaker 2: be funnier as a contestant, and Audre would be funnier
- 4:14Speaker 2: judging him.
- 4:15Speaker 3: So you've got to go with your gut on that,
- 4:18Speaker 3: and I was that was a.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Gut call, and and I could think of no one
- 4:22Speaker 2: better to play that role.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Actually, while while we're on this, Aaron, I'll pivot over
- 4:26Speaker 1: to Audre here and ask, because as Aaron mentioned, you
- 4:29Speaker 1: will be the task master for these shows, task mistress,
- 4:33Speaker 1: the task mistress for these shows which we're gendering, you
- 4:36Speaker 1: would say that you're excited to be the task mistress.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I am so excited, but do not think that that
- 4:44Speaker 3: will make me go easy on our contestants. My joy,
- 4:48Speaker 3: my joy is mine, judgment is mine, says the task mistress.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It's going to be a great group and I don't
- 4:59Speaker 3: know anything. Yeah, is going to be such a surprise
- 5:04Speaker 3: in the room. I'm gonna have such a joy making
- 5:07Speaker 3: my little notes, giving out my little points.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah. That's been one of the toughest parts of the year.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Is while Aaron has been presiding in the alex Horn
- 5:19Speaker 1: roll and walking us through all of these tasks that
- 5:21Speaker 1: we've done throughout the year, Audrey's being kept completely in
- 5:25Speaker 1: the dock ready for those shows on the fifth and say, yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah. The way it works is everybody is seeing it
- 5:32Speaker 2: for the first time. I mean, the contestants know how
- 5:34Speaker 2: they did on the task, but they don't know how
- 5:36Speaker 2: anybody else did at all, So everybody's basically going to
- 5:40Speaker 2: be seeing it for the first time. I'm the only person,
- 5:43Speaker 2: and I mean literally in the world who knows what's coming.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Stevie and Augie have no idea. I mean, Oggie's one
- 5:49Speaker 2: of the contestants, so he's got some idea, but even
- 5:52Speaker 2: Stevie hasn't seen anything. He's refused, he does not want
- 5:55Speaker 2: he does not want to be spoiled. He wants to
- 5:57Speaker 2: experience it, Sully it. Yeah, he wants to experience it blind,
- 6:01Speaker 2: just like the rest of you. Will incredible And my god,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I can't wait because it's it's hanging over me like
- 6:08Speaker 2: all of the stuff that I know is coming.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and we are just a short twenty four hours
- 6:14Speaker 1: away from finding out and everyone being in the position
- 6:18Speaker 1: that you're in and everyone knowing. And if you want
- 6:20Speaker 1: to get down there and find out as well, you
- 6:23Speaker 1: can head to Peakimprov dot com for tickets if you
- 6:25Speaker 1: are one of our listeners who lives in our wonderful
- 6:28Speaker 1: city of Colorado Springs, or if you're in the Greater
- 6:31Speaker 1: Colorado area, or dare I say it, If you're willing
- 6:35Speaker 1: to travel just a little bit on such short notice
- 6:37Speaker 1: for the for the hell of it, then come down
- 6:39Speaker 1: to the Peak Improv Theater Friday and Saturday night, fifth
- 6:43Speaker 1: and sixth of December as this is coming out. If
- 6:45Speaker 1: you're listening to this in the future, I'm so sorry
- 6:47Speaker 1: you've missed it. I'm sure it'll be available on the
- 6:51Speaker 1: BFYITW podcast, but this is the only chance to experience
- 6:54Speaker 1: this live. It is truly going to be a unique show.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's that's what kills me about it, is
- 7:00Speaker 2: like I I love doing the live shows. Like the
- 7:04Speaker 2: episode sixty four that I mentioned the very first time
- 7:06Speaker 2: we did it wasn't live. We had it was still
- 7:09Speaker 2: kind of mid COVID. We were coming out of it
- 7:12Speaker 2: because I know that me and Stevie were going over
- 7:16Speaker 2: to Jorge's apartment, but the rest of the contestants were
- 7:19Speaker 2: over a teleconference and no, we did we had no audience.
- 7:23Speaker 2: For episode one hundred, we actually got a live audience.
- 7:26Speaker 2: But now we've got two nights, all different tasks both nights,
- 7:30Speaker 2: it's going to be a completely different show. Uh. And
- 7:33Speaker 2: if you want to see the whole series, you got
- 7:35Speaker 2: to catch both of them.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 2: But like I, like you said, if you don't catch
- 7:40Speaker 2: it live, you can still catch it. There will be
- 7:43Speaker 2: an audio and hopefully a video version as well, available
- 7:47Speaker 2: to partake afterwards. But there is something about being there
- 7:52Speaker 2: when it happens that you'll you'll miss out on.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Honestly, Yeah, there's gonna be magic in the room both
- 7:58Speaker 1: of those nights. I know it.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I am convinced it's going to be one of the
- 8:03Speaker 2: greatest things. I am so incredibly confident that this show
- 8:08Speaker 2: is going to be hilarious beyond the telling of it.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And like I said, I'm the only one who knows
- 8:15Speaker 2: what's coming. You're just gonna have to take my word
- 8:18Speaker 2: for it.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Oh and there's gonna be so many Taskmaster fans involved,
- 8:24Speaker 1: And if you're a Taskmaster fan, then you should absolutely
- 8:27Speaker 1: get involved, even if you don't know who we are.
- 8:30Speaker 1: If you, like I want to experience some live task
- 8:32Speaker 1: Master style stuff, this could well be the show for you.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Because we've done it. Baby, We've done it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: We've done it. It's happening. Everything's set and ready to go.
- 8:40Speaker 2: There's there's nothing stopping.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Us speaking of a task Master itself as a show
- 8:46Speaker 1: or Dred. You're a fan of task Master, right, Oh?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yes?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Do you have any favorite contestants from over the years.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think my favorite contestants are just the people I
- 8:57Speaker 3: saw most recently.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, ah, so on.
- 9:02Speaker 3: The most recent season. I always love Mazie I.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Love's one of my favorite comedians.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yes, the intensity that she brings is so fun. She's
- 9:14Speaker 3: taking it so seriously and sometimes doing really well with
- 9:18Speaker 3: it and sometimes so off base, but so intense.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Oh god, the one task where she was so smug
- 9:26Speaker 2: and she was so wrong.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Yeah, huh, such a joy. I sense there's going to
- 9:32Speaker 1: be a lot of that in our show.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I cannot wait. I cannot wait, but I
- 9:37Speaker 2: can't say anything.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Aaron, what about yourself? You got any favorite contestants from
- 9:42Speaker 1: over the Yea's I do.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Mel Gedroich sticks out. She was just she was just
- 9:49Speaker 2: hilarious from the she She's just a naturally hilarious person.
- 9:54Speaker 1: But her her.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Getting the eminem stuck in her nose and like laugh
- 10:00Speaker 2: crying about it is still one of the funniest things
- 10:03Speaker 2: I've ever seen. Yeah, and of course Alex Horne was
- 10:06Speaker 2: kind of breaking down and laughing behind her. Was also
- 10:09Speaker 2: probably added to that. There's some real Carol Burnette energy
- 10:13Speaker 2: on task Masters sometimes and amazing. Of course, she did
- 10:20Speaker 2: brilliantly and she was hilarious and I love her. Sophie
- 10:23Speaker 2: Duker just just from sheer bad assery. That one had
- 10:28Speaker 2: one of the tasks I hated the most, which was
- 10:30Speaker 2: the slobber test.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yes, oh yeah, my god, uh huh. That was horrible
- 10:38Speaker 3: to watch, oh man, Because when you watch task Master,
- 10:42Speaker 3: you always kind of put yourself in the place of
- 10:44Speaker 3: the contestants. Yeah, and I know for a fact it
- 10:49Speaker 3: was the one of the worst tasks. But I know
- 10:51Speaker 3: for a fact I would have not stopped. I would
- 10:57Speaker 3: not like, I would have just kept going until fell.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And that's another.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Reason why it's such a horrible, horrible task.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's awful.
- 11:09Speaker 1: This is why you're going to be the task mistress. Yeah, absolutely,
- 11:15Speaker 1: well I can.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I can. I can openly say we have nothing that
- 11:18Speaker 2: disgusting on our I did not make anyone do anything disgusting.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Whether they did something disgusting of their own volition, I
- 11:27Speaker 2: can't say.
- 11:28Speaker 1: But that's five hundred Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna say this like, like I said, this
- 11:36Speaker 2: has been a year in the making. It's been a
- 11:38Speaker 2: ton of work. I've literally had to put my writing
- 11:40Speaker 2: my third novel off because of it. So I'm just saying,
- 11:43Speaker 2: right now, next one we do, I'm not posting it,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I'm not producing it. Somebody else gets to take the rein,
- 11:51Speaker 2: somebody else gets to put the work in, because I
- 11:54Speaker 2: can give you, like some real figures. It was sixty
- 11:57Speaker 2: seven hours of.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Editing, Yeah, I believe it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: To put all the tasks together. It was. It was
- 12:02Speaker 2: a solid work week and a half. It was. It
- 12:06Speaker 2: was a lot, and I did it over the course
- 12:09Speaker 2: of a month, you know, in my spare time.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Coming up at work and whatnot. But can't wait to
- 12:13Speaker 1: see the fruits of that labor.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I put my heart and soul into editing as comedically
- 12:19Speaker 2: as I possibly could. So I was going to say,
- 12:23Speaker 2: I was trying to squeeze as much humor out of
- 12:25Speaker 2: it as I could.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So to squeeze them little lemons, then five little lemons.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Just ring those tasks for every last lab fantastic.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Well, to see all of those juicy fruits, you've got
- 12:37Speaker 1: to get down to the Peak Improv Theater on December
- 12:41Speaker 1: fifth and December sixth, that's tomorrow and the day after.
- 12:44Speaker 1: As you're listening to this, if you're in Colorado Springs,
- 12:47Speaker 1: get down their peakimprof dot com. Ticket start at ten dollars.
- 12:51Speaker 1: It's going to be a fantastic time.
- 12:52Speaker 3: And now onto Matt versus Odra, the finale, the thrilling conclusion,
- 12:59Speaker 3: Aaron yoh with us before this is strange, this is you.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Know, I'm so excited.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I cannot wait. What's gonna happen.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Let's find out watch out for my villain Era.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Don't mess with the games Master, Captain, power up. I'm
- 13:14Speaker 1: going to score all the points.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Passing knowledge was enough.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to your doom.
- 13:21Speaker 3: I just hope we have a lot of fun.
- 13:23Speaker 1: And ignore this sentence. If you're a goddamn Lisa, you're
- 13:27Speaker 1: going down.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I want to fight. So now for the final of
- 13:35Speaker 3: Matt versus Adra, we are joined by Aaron Randolph.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Hello, Hi guys, Hello Aaron. Oh my god, I'm so excited.
- 13:47Speaker 2: It is game thirteen.
- 13:50Speaker 1: It's here.
- 13:51Speaker 2: We made it here. You two are so evenly matched.
- 13:54Speaker 2: You have won six games each. So it's gonna come
- 13:58Speaker 2: down to this because we have to declare a win.
- 14:00Speaker 2: We can't have a tie.
- 14:02Speaker 1: We have to we have to must have a winner.
- 14:04Speaker 1: We must decide.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It can't be too equal partners. That's crazy. It's that's crazy.
- 14:12Speaker 2: This is America. Somebody has to be dominant time. The
- 14:17Speaker 2: more I say this is more I hate it. Honest.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Oh god, that's okay, we both switch.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, fair enough. Listen. You know, whoever loses this, they're
- 14:28Speaker 2: just gonna win something else further down the road. It's fine,
- 14:31Speaker 2: it's all in good fun and we're all just trying
- 14:33Speaker 2: to have just some excellent fun with some friends, and
- 14:36Speaker 2: hopefully our audience are having as much fun. And luckily
- 14:40Speaker 2: the game we're going to play today is one that
- 14:42Speaker 2: they can play along with. So if you guys are ready,
- 14:45Speaker 2: shall we get to it.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Let's do this all right?
- 14:50Speaker 2: Oh yes, it's time for geeky prizes. It's time for
- 14:57Speaker 2: pricing games. It's vaguely fandom related. Here comes the thirty minute.
- 15:07Speaker 2: The cost is correct.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Yes, it's here.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It's happening, your host me for the final time. I've
- 15:17Speaker 2: been in this location for the entire duration. Welcome to
- 15:22Speaker 2: The cost is correct. We are going to play a
- 15:26Speaker 2: series of games. It's gonna be something like the half
- 15:29Speaker 2: hour version of the show when it was on. So
- 15:32Speaker 2: you're each gonna get a chance to play a pricing game. However,
- 15:36Speaker 2: the one of you who wins Contestants Row gets to
- 15:38Speaker 2: play the pricing game that has the more valuable prize.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And this is important because your score is determined by
- 15:46Speaker 2: the total value of all money and prizes quote unquote
- 15:50Speaker 2: one on the episode. So at the end of the episode,
- 15:53Speaker 2: after the showdowns, whoever has the highest total is the winner. Okay,
- 16:00Speaker 2: so this could go any which way, but like I said,
- 16:02Speaker 2: you're each gonna get a chance to do a pricing game.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You're each gonna spin the wheel. Whoever wins at the
- 16:07Speaker 2: big wheel will get the first choice of the showdowns.
- 16:10Speaker 2: That'll be it once the showdowns are done. But all
- 16:13Speaker 2: the prizes, just like the cost is correct when we
- 16:16Speaker 2: do it on our show, are from geeky fandoms. So
- 16:22Speaker 2: shall we get to it.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Let's do it. Let's live the game show dream.
- 16:25Speaker 2: All right? Go, Since there are only two of you,
- 16:28Speaker 2: we filled in the first two seats of Contestants Row
- 16:31Speaker 2: with Allie one and Allie two the automated lack of intelligence.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Now there are two of them, they will automatically overbid,
- 16:39Speaker 2: so it is just the two of you and Matt.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You won the last game, So I'm going to give
- 16:45Speaker 2: Odre the chance to bid last, as it were, giving
- 16:48Speaker 2: her a slight advantage. So Matt and Andre, here is
- 16:52Speaker 2: the item up for bids on Contestants Row. It's a
- 16:55Speaker 2: life size statue of Bruce Lee. This six foot statue
- 17:01Speaker 2: depicts Bruce Lee in his famous pose from enter the dragon,
- 17:05Speaker 2: strip to the waist and nunchuck in his right hand.
- 17:09Speaker 2: And this Contestants Row will be won by the one
- 17:12Speaker 2: of you who gets closest to the actual auction price
- 17:15Speaker 2: of this item on eBay, and Matt, you are going
- 17:18Speaker 2: to bid first.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Okay, excellent, excellent fandom choice in terms of just no
- 17:25Speaker 1: knowledge whatsoever in the in the potential price of this
- 17:29Speaker 1: Uh huh. I'm gonna say nine hundred dollars.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Nine hundred dollars, says Matt. Odro What would you like
- 17:37Speaker 2: to bid?
- 17:39Speaker 3: The thing is? It's six foot It's a six foot statue,
- 17:43Speaker 3: right correct? See I was thinking more than that, but
- 17:48Speaker 3: that's throw in me. I'm gonna I just have to go.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I must go with my intention, with my guts here,
- 17:58Speaker 3: I think what one two hundred and fifty.
- 18:01Speaker 2: One thousand, two hundred and fifty says Audre. All Right,
- 18:05Speaker 2: your bids are locked in. They cannot be changed. The
- 18:08Speaker 2: actual auction price of this six foot life size statue
- 18:12Speaker 2: of Bruce Lee nine ninety five dollars wins nice and Odra,
- 18:19Speaker 2: you will be our first player as we go to
- 18:21Speaker 2: a pricing game. Congratulations, I think it pounds, Odre. It's
- 18:30Speaker 2: time for your pricing game. Like I said, you have
- 18:32Speaker 2: a more valuable prize to win. But of course, if
- 18:34Speaker 2: you don't win, it kind of tilts the scales back
- 18:37Speaker 2: the other way. So bear that in mind as we
- 18:40Speaker 2: are about to play spelling Bee and we're playing for
- 18:45Speaker 2: a brand new card. Uh yes, the item up for
- 18:51Speaker 2: the item that you could win now is a Michael
- 18:54Speaker 2: Jordan signed card, rated ten out of ten and certified
- 19:00Speaker 2: and valued it eighteen thousand, four hundred and sixty four dollars. Now,
- 19:05Speaker 2: the way you win that is by spelling car, not
- 19:08Speaker 2: card that would make sense. No, you're just going to
- 19:11Speaker 2: spell car. There are eleven c's up on that board
- 19:14Speaker 2: of thirty different tiles. There are eleven a's, and there
- 19:17Speaker 2: are six rs. And there are two cards that just
- 19:20Speaker 2: say car and instant win. Now, I'm gonna give you
- 19:23Speaker 2: two tiles out of that list for free. Which two
- 19:26Speaker 2: do you want?
- 19:27Speaker 3: Five and twenty six.
- 19:30Speaker 2: And twenty six? Ooh, even sides of the board. I
- 19:34Speaker 2: like that all right. Well with five and twenty six,
- 19:36Speaker 2: we're often rolling now that you can get three more
- 19:39Speaker 2: tiles off that board. But the way you do that
- 19:41Speaker 2: is by pricing some more items. So we're gonna start
- 19:44Speaker 2: with this action figure down here. Our first item is
- 19:47Speaker 2: this brand new thirtieth anniversary Batman action figure, new and sealed,
- 19:53Speaker 2: but the box has seen better days, and this recently
- 19:57Speaker 2: went up on Facebook marketplace. Now you're just to tell
- 20:00Speaker 2: me how much you think it went for. If you're
- 20:02Speaker 2: within ten dollars high or low, you will win another card.
- 20:06Speaker 2: But if you get it exactly right, you automatically win
- 20:09Speaker 2: all three and get three cards. Okay, So give me
- 20:13Speaker 2: your best guess. This is a Batman action figure thirtieth anniversary,
- 20:18Speaker 2: new and sealed, but the box has seen better days.
- 20:21Speaker 3: I'm going to go at what I think is a
- 20:24Speaker 3: reasonable four nerds three hundred dollars.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Three hundred dollars all right, what is the price of
- 20:34Speaker 2: the action figure? Twenty five dollars? I'm afraid that was
- 20:39Speaker 2: a bit high.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Oh, that box is doing a lot of marking down
- 20:45Speaker 3: if the box was if the box was mint, it
- 20:48Speaker 3: would be three hundred dollars for that thirtieth anniversary.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Okay, Well, no worries. You can still win two more cards.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Or who knows, you could get one of these exactly
- 20:56Speaker 2: right and win all three anyway, So let's move on
- 20:58Speaker 2: to the second prize. You could win the Riverside Shakespeare
- 21:02Speaker 2: book is used, but in good condition and at one
- 21:07Speaker 2: nine and two pages This contains all his play's poems
- 21:11Speaker 2: and a lot of extra info about the man, the myth,
- 21:13Speaker 2: the legend that is William Shakespeare. How much do you
- 21:17Speaker 2: think this went for on Facebook Marketplace? And if you're
- 21:20Speaker 2: within ten dollars high or low, you'll get a card.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Now I'm adjusting the price range that I'm utilizing to
- 21:29Speaker 3: filter this. I'm going to say it's a thick book,
- 21:38Speaker 3: but it's a book on Facebook Marketplace, and it's used,
- 21:41Speaker 3: and it's used, so we're going to go fifteen fifteen dollars?
- 21:46Speaker 2: All right?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yes, what is the price?
- 21:50Speaker 2: Thirty dollars? I'm afraid closer, much closer, so much? Just
- 21:57Speaker 2: I just missed it by five dollars. All right, here's
- 22:01Speaker 2: your last chance to win at least one You've got
- 22:04Speaker 2: to get at least.
- 22:05Speaker 1: One more tile, I'm hoping.
- 22:08Speaker 2: All right, let's see what you do. This last collection.
- 22:11Speaker 2: This is a collection of seven nes cartridges in a
- 22:14Speaker 2: plastic carrier. Doctor Mario, Skater Die, Super Mario Brothers, Star Voyager,
- 22:21Speaker 2: Russian Attack, Goonies two and Commando. All of them have sleeves.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Russian Attack has the manual. How much for this collection?
- 22:32Speaker 2: How much did this go for on Facebook Marketplace.
- 22:36Speaker 1: At a factor in that manual.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Oh, I hadn't with my initial assessment, but with the manual.
- 22:44Speaker 3: With the manual, I'm gonna say twenty five dollars.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Twenty five dollars. What is the price? Fifty dollars, I'm afraid. Okay,
- 23:00Speaker 2: so you haven't won any prizes and you haven't won
- 23:04Speaker 2: any extra tiles. However, I will point out that each
- 23:07Speaker 2: of these tiles is worth one thousand dollars. Do you
- 23:09Speaker 2: want to take just two thousand dollars? Add that to
- 23:12Speaker 2: your score and call it a day. There is a
- 23:14Speaker 2: possibility that you found one of the car tiles up there,
- 23:18Speaker 2: but it's up to you whether you want to risk
- 23:21Speaker 2: it or you just want to take the free and
- 23:23Speaker 2: easy two thousand and add it to your score.
- 23:26Speaker 3: There's thirty numbers up there, and I only got to
- 23:28Speaker 3: pick two of them. I think it's probably safer for
- 23:31Speaker 3: me to just take that two thousand.
- 23:33Speaker 2: You're going to take the two thousand, all right. I
- 23:35Speaker 2: will add the two thousand to your score. But now
- 23:37Speaker 2: we have to find out whether you would have actually
- 23:39Speaker 2: won the car. So we're going to take a look
- 23:42Speaker 2: at this first tile. This was number five and under
- 23:45Speaker 2: number five. We have an A. The second tile you
- 23:49Speaker 2: picked was number twenty six and under this a C,
- 23:54Speaker 2: so you would not have won the card. So right
- 23:57Speaker 2: choice to stop and keep the two thousand. Well done,
- 24:00Speaker 2: all right, that's your pricing game. Now we're going to
- 24:02Speaker 2: throw over to Matt and give Matt a chance to
- 24:04Speaker 2: win something. All right, all right, Matt, Now it's time
- 24:07Speaker 2: for your game. You, sir, are going to play cliffhangers, okay,
- 24:13Speaker 2: a chance to win a Golden Tea golf arcade game
- 24:17Speaker 2: valued at six ninety nine dollars. Now we start with
- 24:23Speaker 2: this our guy, his name is Jeff, Jeff the mountain climber. Hello, Jeff,
- 24:29Speaker 2: he's going to climb this mountain. He is going to
- 24:32Speaker 2: go up one step for every dollar you are off
- 24:35Speaker 2: the price of these three items listed here. If you
- 24:38Speaker 2: managed to keep him from going off the cliff, i e.
- 24:42Speaker 2: If you managed to get within twenty five dollars, all told,
- 24:46Speaker 2: then you will win that Golden Tee golf arcade game.
- 24:49Speaker 2: So and of course, obviously anything you get exactly right
- 24:54Speaker 2: he stays put, stay still, Jeff, Yeah, all right. So
- 24:58Speaker 2: we are going to start with this Drew book. This
- 25:01Speaker 2: Nancy Drew novel The Clue of the Tapping Heels from
- 25:04Speaker 2: nineteen thirty six, used but in good shape. How much
- 25:09Speaker 2: did this go for on Facebook Marketplace?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Used but in good shape, but from the nineteen thirties,
- 25:16Speaker 1: so that's still gonna be like an old printing of it.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And Nancy Drew I think started around about then. So
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say fifteen dollars.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Fifteen dollars? Is that right? No? Now the Mountaineer's gonna climb.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Let's see how fur he goes? One step, two steps,
- 25:38Speaker 2: three steps, four stop a five? Okay, actual price that
- 25:43Speaker 2: the Nancy Drew book twenty dollars. All right, well done,
- 25:46Speaker 2: you are still very much in this game. All right,
- 25:50Speaker 2: Let's move on to your next item. Taylor Swift hoodie.
- 25:53Speaker 2: The Taylor Swift the Era's tour hooded sweatshirt, used but
- 25:57Speaker 2: in like new condition. And how much did someone pay
- 26:01Speaker 2: for this on Facebook marketplace?
- 26:04Speaker 1: Okay? I think this is more margin for Era here,
- 26:07Speaker 1: because I think twenty steps left, twenty steps left. I
- 26:11Speaker 1: think these were selling for like eighty ninety bucks like
- 26:15Speaker 1: new at the Eras to it, I think they were
- 26:18Speaker 1: pretty expensive. So I'm gonna say it retains quite a
- 26:20Speaker 1: bit of value. I'm gonna I'm gonna say sixty dollars.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Sixty dollars, all right? Is that right? No, Now it's
- 26:30Speaker 2: time to watch him climb. Jeff is up to ten steps.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Stop Jeff.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Oh no, Jeff, Jeff's up to fifteen steps.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Stop Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, don't do it. Keep step Je
- 26:43Speaker 1: twenty steps. You got so much the left on, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Please don't, please don't Jeff.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Oh no, Jeff, No. Sorry. The Taylor Swift hoodie was
- 26:55Speaker 2: thirty dollars, what about dollars? All right? Well, sorry, Matt,
- 26:59Speaker 2: you didn't win the Golden Tier Arcade game. But the
- 27:02Speaker 2: good news is it's still pretty close. All right, Well,
- 27:07Speaker 2: we are going to go to spin that wheel. You're
- 27:10Speaker 2: each gonna get a chance to spin the wheel. I'll
- 27:12Speaker 2: just tell you right now, it's completely luck dependent. I
- 27:15Speaker 2: have no control over anything. The only bit of strategy
- 27:20Speaker 2: is whether you decide to stop or keep going after
- 27:22Speaker 2: your first spin. Take your chances. Now, technically, Matt, you
- 27:26Speaker 2: have won less than Audrey at this point, so you
- 27:28Speaker 2: get to go first.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Okay, I love that technicality.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Amen, I'm gonna go ahead, and spin this wheel for
- 27:35Speaker 2: you and fingers crossed. It turns out good, and of course,
- 27:38Speaker 2: just like the show, if you manage to get a
- 27:39Speaker 2: dollar on the dot, that adds a thousand to your
- 27:42Speaker 2: score and you'll have a chance for more. But Matt,
- 27:44Speaker 2: you got twenty cents?
- 27:46Speaker 1: Okay?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Do you want to keep that twenty cents and just
- 27:48Speaker 2: stop there? Do you want to try for more?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Let's try for them all.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Remember, the player who does the best here will get
- 27:54Speaker 2: the first choice of the showdown. So best of luck, Matt.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Here's your second spin and it slows, oh just past
- 28:02Speaker 2: the eighty, but it lands on sixty. Okay, we're going
- 28:05Speaker 2: total of eighty cents, right, so that's the mark that
- 28:07Speaker 2: has to be beat. Audra. It is now your turn.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Ready for your first spin? Yes, okay, best of luck.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Odre's first spin and she gets ninety why unbelievable? Well, Audra,
- 28:21Speaker 2: I think it's safe to say you're gonna stop. Yes,
- 28:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you don't want you don't want to risk
- 28:27Speaker 2: it for a one and twenty chance that you might.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Get not today, Aaron.
- 28:31Speaker 2: All right, say congratulations, Odra, you are going to be
- 28:35Speaker 2: in control for the showcase showdown and We're gonna go
- 28:38Speaker 2: ahead and do that right now. Okay, Audra, as I said,
- 28:42Speaker 2: you are in control, So I'm going to describe for
- 28:44Speaker 2: you the first showcase. You will then decide whether you
- 28:46Speaker 2: want to keep it or pass it to Matt. Now
- 28:50Speaker 2: I can tell you right now your current scores are.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Audra has a threety five dollars to her score, Matt
- 28:59Speaker 2: has no. So it's fair to say if one of
- 29:03Speaker 2: you wins this, you win the game. On the plus
- 29:06Speaker 2: side ouder if you both go over, you automatically win.
- 29:08Speaker 2: So bear that man much, all right, Odre, here is
- 29:13Speaker 2: your first showcase. This showcase is all about the movies.
- 29:18Speaker 2: For example, grand collectibles can be found in all sorts
- 29:20Speaker 2: of places, and a few more grand than Rockies boxing trunks.
- 29:26Speaker 2: These American flag themed trunks from Rocky four are framed
- 29:31Speaker 2: and signed by both Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren, and
- 29:36Speaker 2: it comes with a certificate of authenticity. But that's not
- 29:39Speaker 2: enough for any movie fans collection room. You've got to
- 29:42Speaker 2: have more, like say this autographed poster. This two thousand
- 29:46Speaker 2: and four Spider Man two twenty eight by forty one
- 29:50Speaker 2: theater sized poster is signed by Toby McGuire, Alfred Molina,
- 29:55Speaker 2: and Kirsten Dunst. But even that's not enough for some people.
- 29:59Speaker 2: If you want the be all an end all of
- 30:01Speaker 2: movie memorabilia, how about this life size statue. This Star
- 30:07Speaker 2: Wars Han solo, frozen in carbonite is six foot tall
- 30:12Speaker 2: with a light up side panel and a full base
- 30:15Speaker 2: and odre. This the showcase can be yours if the
- 30:19Speaker 2: cost is correct. Now, do you want to bid on
- 30:22Speaker 2: this showcase or do you want to pass it to Matt?
- 30:27Speaker 3: I think I'm gonna try for this showcase.
- 30:31Speaker 2: You're gonna bid on this showcase, all right? So what
- 30:33Speaker 2: would you like to bid?
- 30:36Speaker 3: Okay, I do just a little bit of fermy estimation.
- 30:40Speaker 3: I think those trunks are gonna be pricey. I think
- 30:45Speaker 3: the trunks are gonna be pricey, but I don't want
- 30:47Speaker 3: to go over. So I'm gonna say nine nine nine nine, nine.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Hundred ninety nine dollars is your bid?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yes?
- 30:58Speaker 2: All right, Matt? You get this showcase, and this one's
- 31:01Speaker 2: all about video games for starters. You can game harder
- 31:05Speaker 2: than anybody with this MSI Titan eighteen HX laptop, this
- 31:10Speaker 2: ultra high definition one hundred and twenty hrtz laptop with
- 31:12Speaker 2: an Nvidia fifty to ninety and a rise in Ultra
- 31:16Speaker 2: nine two to eighty five HXCPU, sixty four gigs of RAM,
- 31:20Speaker 2: and a four terabyte VME SSD can be yours if
- 31:24Speaker 2: you win this showcase. But let's get serious about our gaming.
- 31:28Speaker 2: We don't want to just play video games. How about
- 31:31Speaker 2: this fantastic pinball machine. Chicago Gaming's remake of the classic
- 31:36Speaker 2: Cactus Canyon table features all new full color display and
- 31:40Speaker 2: up to four players. But you've got modern gaming covered,
- 31:45Speaker 2: and you've got pinball covered. How about some retrogaming. How
- 31:49Speaker 2: about this rare super Nintendo Kiosk. This is the original
- 31:54Speaker 2: Kiosk scene in stores. Fully restored controllers work work fully,
- 32:00Speaker 2: and the scart cable has been recapped, and it has
- 32:03Speaker 2: gorgeous picture. And this showcase can be yours if the
- 32:07Speaker 2: cost is correct. Now, Matt, how much are you gonna
- 32:12Speaker 2: bid for this game room showcase?
- 32:15Speaker 1: Hmmm? Sounded like very strong specs on that gaming laptop there.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna say seven thousand, five hundred.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Seven thousand, five hundred is Matt's bid. Well, unlike the
- 32:29Speaker 2: show we don't have to go to.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Commercial break were could we?
- 32:33Speaker 3: Could?
- 32:37Speaker 2: We are going to start with you, audre Yes. On
- 32:41Speaker 2: the Movie Collectibles showcase, you bid nine nine hundred ninety
- 32:45Speaker 2: nine dollars the actual retail price eighteen thousand and five
- 32:51Speaker 2: ninety four, for a difference of eight thousand, five hundred
- 32:56Speaker 2: and ninety five.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Dollars, almost exactly half.
- 33:00Speaker 2: If Matt is closer, he will win. But let's see, Matt,
- 33:04Speaker 2: you had the laptop, the Pimmell Machine, and the Super
- 33:06Speaker 2: Nintendo Kiosk, and you bid seven thousand, five hundred the
- 33:10Speaker 2: actual retail price of your showcase twenty seven thousand, seven
- 33:16Speaker 2: to ninety four, for a difference of twenty thousand and
- 33:19Speaker 2: two ninety four. Oddre you win.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I am so glad that I stuck with the Movie Collectibles,
- 33:28Speaker 3: because I would have been even further off on the
- 33:31Speaker 3: game Room one.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Unbelievable Oudra with a total I can't do in my head,
- 33:36Speaker 2: but it's it's well over twenty twenty two thousand, five
- 33:40Speaker 2: hundred some odd You've won this game. Congratulations. You are
- 33:46Speaker 2: the ultimate winner of Matt versus Oudra at seven games
- 33:49Speaker 2: to six.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I never thought that this would happen
- 33:54Speaker 3: to me. Oh God, I'm just so overwhelmed, like I
- 33:57Speaker 3: didn't expect to win. There's so many other are so
- 34:00Speaker 3: phenomenal people nominated for this award. I'd like to say
- 34:05Speaker 3: I'd like to thank my husband, Matt. I'd like to
- 34:10Speaker 3: thank Aaron for playing the games and putting all that together.
- 34:13Speaker 3: I'd like to thank God, but I don't believe he's real.
- 34:18Speaker 3: This is just so beautiful.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Thank you to the Academy.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Well, congratulations. I think that was an excellent way to
- 34:26Speaker 1: win this series with such a high school.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's really really good for those curious
- 34:33Speaker 2: who are listening at home and just want to know.
- 34:36Speaker 2: The Rockies boxing trunks were twenty four ninety nine, the
- 34:40Speaker 2: theater sized poster for Spider Man two was thirty one
- 34:43Speaker 2: hundred dollars, and the Star Wars Frozen statue was twelve
- 34:48Speaker 2: five dollars. And Matt, your laptop was expensive four hundred
- 34:53Speaker 2: and forty four dollars. The fimn Mall machine was eighty
- 34:56Speaker 2: three fifty and the restored Supernintendo Kiosk was fifteen grand.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Wow. I had the laptop at three and a half
- 35:05Speaker 1: grand in my head, and I just way undervalued the
- 35:07Speaker 1: under the other two thinking of them as like standard
- 35:10Speaker 1: home retro machines, but I mean they were fancy versions.
- 35:15Speaker 2: I was gonna say that Super Nintendo KAOSK was like
- 35:19Speaker 2: I would be surprised to find a working one period.
- 35:22Speaker 2: So wow it was I kind of get why it
- 35:24Speaker 2: was that high. But in any event, just just some
- 35:28Speaker 2: last minute manutia to go over. Guys, this has been
- 35:31Speaker 2: one of the most fun things I've done with my year,
- 35:34Speaker 2: and I've done some really fun things this year, so
- 35:37Speaker 2: that I hope you take that for the high praise
- 35:39Speaker 2: it is. This has been so much fun.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Aaron for doing these games every
- 35:45Speaker 1: month for us. This This has been a highlight of Aya.
- 35:49Speaker 1: It's been fun to play a bunch of games. I
- 35:52Speaker 1: don't get to play games often on this podcast, and
- 35:54Speaker 1: so it's been really fun to be able to do
- 35:57Speaker 1: that even if I lost. So thank you so much,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Aaron and for giving us your time and your energy
- 36:02Speaker 1: in this year.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Absolutely, and I would do it again in a heartbeat,
- 36:06Speaker 2: But as you know, this is the end of this series,
- 36:08Speaker 2: so I just will bid it a fun farewell. But
- 36:11Speaker 2: I know that we've got much more fun coming up,
- 36:14Speaker 2: not just this year, but in a couple of weeks.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Oh yes, so yeah, so I will miss it. But
- 36:21Speaker 2: it's been great fun. And please, please please, if you
- 36:25Speaker 2: if you've enjoyed it, then you know what, go and
- 36:28Speaker 2: do something silly and fun with your friends. Just ask
- 36:30Speaker 2: your friends if they want to do something silly and
- 36:32Speaker 2: fun with you, because you will not regret it.
- 36:34Speaker 1: That's beautiful. That's a great way to end this. Thanks Aaron. Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 1: thank you so much. Well there it was the final
- 36:42Speaker 1: Matt versus Audra. I didn't win, and that's I'm not
- 36:46Speaker 1: still thinking about it. It's not still playing on my mind.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Congratulations to Audra. A very good game of games played
- 36:54Speaker 1: this year. And look the score was seven to six.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I can deal with you being that little bit better
- 36:59Speaker 1: than me because that's what I actually believe anyway, so
- 37:03Speaker 1: it matches my truth. Thank you once more to mister
- 37:06Speaker 1: Aaron Randolph for putting together those games this year. They've
- 37:09Speaker 1: been so much fun to play. As you know, this
- 37:12Speaker 1: is the final Bonus Round in the series. Maybe we'll
- 37:15Speaker 1: bring it back someday, but for now on this feed.
- 37:19Speaker 1: That is a wrap on Bonus Round. Thank you so
- 37:21Speaker 1: much for listening to it this year. Thank you so
- 37:23Speaker 1: much for being part of the great Hey, let's try
