- 0:53Speaker 1: Haney and his disappearance, we'd like to welcome Chad, his coworker,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and Chad's fiance, Casey to the podcast. Welcome to the show.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Hello, Hey there, And before we.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Get into Cody and his disappearance, tell us a little
- 1:08Speaker 1: bit about you and your relationship to Cody.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Me and Cody was coworkers and we were friends before
- 1:16Speaker 3: we started working together. We were good friends, but we
- 1:21Speaker 3: started working together and we just became closer and started
- 1:24Speaker 3: seeing the kind of person he was, and we just
- 1:27Speaker 3: got closer.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And I actually knew Cody before me and Chad got together.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We used to work together and then we hung out
- 1:41Speaker 2: and we were good friends as well.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And what would you like people to know about Cody.
- 1:48Speaker 3: He had a big heart. He cared about other people
- 1:51Speaker 3: more than he cared about himself. He's a very outdoorsy guy,
- 2:02Speaker 3: happy to go, and very energetic. He's just overall a
- 2:07Speaker 3: good person.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, despite what you know people might have heard about
- 2:13Speaker 2: him or anything, you know, he he was a pretty
- 2:16Speaker 2: good guy, a good dad, or at least tried to
- 2:20Speaker 2: be as the best.
- 2:20Speaker 4: As he could. You know, he was a good employee.
- 2:25Speaker 4: From what I know, He's just a good person.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Something that we have found as we've continued this journey,
- 2:35Speaker 1: it is the importance of talking about someone as a
- 2:37Speaker 1: person and their heart and their character as opposed to
- 2:40Speaker 1: maybe a decision or a behavior that may really stick
- 2:45Speaker 1: with them because it's kind of been a bad choice
- 2:47Speaker 1: or a negative choice. And we've seen this before and
- 2:49Speaker 1: some of our other stories where it feels like maybe
- 2:53Speaker 1: someone's disappearance wasn't attended to in the way that we
- 2:57Speaker 1: would want it to be because of some behavior that
- 3:00Speaker 1: they engaged in. And so that is why it is
- 3:04Speaker 1: so important that we are speaking with with you and
- 3:08Speaker 1: with Selena and with Michelle and everyone really close to
- 3:11Speaker 1: Cody because we want to know about him as a
- 3:14Speaker 1: person and not necessarily about some of the I agree.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So can you tell us what did a normal workday
- 3:22Speaker 1: look like?
- 3:23Speaker 3: It started out at seven point thirty every morning. We'd
- 3:28Speaker 3: get to work and I'd usually be there before him,
- 3:31Speaker 3: and we'd load up our truck and we'd go out
- 3:34Speaker 3: to people's properties and survey their properties and make show
- 3:38Speaker 3: them where their property corners are and stuff like that.
- 3:41Speaker 3: We were out in the woods a lot. It's pretty
- 3:46Speaker 3: hard work, but we had a good time while we
- 3:49Speaker 3: were doing it, just because the friendship.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nice to work with somebody that you like,
- 3:58Speaker 2: get along with and you can hang out with at
- 4:02Speaker 2: all your working, not working, Yeah, having fun.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yeah, there are you know so many times in our
- 4:08Speaker 1: lives where we get we don't get to choose our
- 4:11Speaker 1: co workers. Sometimes we'll say right, and so those times
- 4:15Speaker 1: when it is fortunate that it's someone that we really
- 4:17Speaker 1: click with. And sounds like you all had a relationship before,
- 4:20Speaker 1: which I think really helped a lot. From speaking to Michelle,
- 4:24Speaker 1: it seemed like things were going pretty well at work
- 4:27Speaker 1: and Cody was was doing a great job. Can you
- 4:29Speaker 1: tell us more about that?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he was doing a great job. He was. He
- 4:33Speaker 3: was actually running the crew that me and him was on.
- 4:36Speaker 3: He was, he was in a supervisor position. He was
- 4:40Speaker 3: working to run a crew and get pay pay raise,
- 4:46Speaker 3: So he was very determined on doing that and pretty
- 4:52Speaker 3: much he just he was a go getter.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So it would have been unusual for him to be
- 4:57Speaker 1: late or to not show up for work or something
- 4:59Speaker 1: like that. He was on time and all those kinds of.
- 5:02Speaker 3: The last time, the last time I seen him, he
- 5:05Speaker 3: said he'd see me at work on Monday.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And was that Friday? That was the twenty first, was
- 5:10Speaker 1: the last time?
- 5:11Speaker 4: Sorry Friday, No would see what works every day? Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 4: it's working the work Saturday.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he was on a Saturday.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a Friday that he well, y'all got
- 5:24Speaker 2: off work Friday and then y'all was gonna work extra
- 5:26Speaker 2: that Saturday.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna make up more hours and he
- 5:30Speaker 1: never showed it. Yea, that is what we understand as well.
- 5:34Speaker 1: That Friday, typically Selena would pick him up and take
- 5:39Speaker 1: him home, and she was not available, and so he
- 5:43Speaker 1: was able to obtain a work.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah, he asked that bar the work truck, and the
- 5:49Speaker 3: boss man said it's fun.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And then he was going to bring it back Saturday
- 5:55Speaker 1: morning and then you guys would continue, yes, ma'am as
- 5:57Speaker 1: normal on Saturday. Yeah, So in the days and weeks
- 6:02Speaker 1: kind of leading up to these events that happened over
- 6:05Speaker 1: the weekend, and we definitely want to get into those events,
- 6:08Speaker 1: did you notice anything unusual or different about Cody leading
- 6:13Speaker 1: up to this sort of interesting weekend that happened.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Not particularly, I mean, he seemed a little bit troubled
- 6:20Speaker 3: about his child, because he's dealing with his child then
- 6:25Speaker 3: at that point, but nothing other than that. He seemed
- 6:32Speaker 3: very strong, willed and wanting to do better.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So can you tell us what your recollection is about
- 6:43Speaker 1: that weekend? So let's just start with Saturday when you
- 6:45Speaker 1: showed up and he wasn't there. Sort of what did
- 6:48Speaker 1: the rest of that weekend look like for you? So
- 6:52Speaker 1: what had really happened? Okay, So they had got home
- 6:55Speaker 1: or he had got home on Friday, Chad had and
- 6:58Speaker 1: he said that they were going to work on Saturday,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and it was probably like what like seven or something
- 7:04Speaker 1: in the morning when Grice called you and had asked
- 7:07Speaker 1: if Chad had heard from Cody because the truck was
- 7:12Speaker 1: there and the door was open. The truck looked like
- 7:17Speaker 1: it had been rummaged through Cody's I believe. Yeah, the
- 7:20Speaker 1: window was busted out of the office and Cody's phone
- 7:23Speaker 1: was left inside, but there was no sight of Cody.
- 7:27Speaker 4: So then.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That phone call loke me up and Pad was like
- 7:32Speaker 2: explaining everything, and I'm like, well, what the heck? So
- 7:36Speaker 2: I texted his mother, Michelle, and I had asked if
- 7:40Speaker 2: because me and her were good also good friends when
- 7:42Speaker 2: me and Cody used to hang out prior me, I
- 7:45Speaker 2: used to go over to Michelle's house and we also
- 7:47Speaker 2: worked together small town, and so I had asked her
- 7:53Speaker 2: if she had heard from Cody that morning, and she
- 7:55Speaker 2: had said no, And I didn't say anything else because
- 7:59Speaker 2: I'd didn't want anybody to get panicked, because I didn't
- 8:03Speaker 2: feel at that point in time it was cause for concern.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Then about an hour later, she said that she called
- 8:11Speaker 2: or texted and had said that she hadn't heard from Cody,
- 8:16Speaker 2: that he was supposed to be at work, asking if
- 8:19Speaker 2: Chad had heard from him, and that's when I was.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Like, no.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Griz had called earlier and asked if we had heard
- 8:26Speaker 2: from Cody, because you know, the door was left open,
- 8:30Speaker 2: his stuff was left there, but no Cody in sight.
- 8:33Speaker 2: She was like, well, I can't get a hold of him. Well,
- 8:36Speaker 2: Chad ended up not going into work that day because
- 8:39Speaker 2: of the best mess that had transpired, so and they
- 8:43Speaker 2: couldn't get a hold of Cody. Still, we tried calling
- 8:46Speaker 2: his friend. Who is that his best friend, the Wagner boy.
- 8:52Speaker 4: I guess, so.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Josh Wagner that's who it is. That's like his, like
- 8:58Speaker 2: I guess, long time childhood best friend and that he
- 9:02Speaker 2: was really close with. So we tried getting up with him.
- 9:05Speaker 2: We also got up with and said that he hadn't
- 9:14Speaker 2: seen him at all either or heard from him, so, which, yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 2: this was Saturday. What.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm having.
- 9:22Speaker 1: A big reaction to that because it's not aligning with
- 9:26Speaker 1: kind of what so let me just clarify pulled you
- 9:32Speaker 1: guys on Saturday. That correct, he had had no contact
- 9:36Speaker 1: with Cody.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yes, that was about Saturday morning. It was before noon
- 9:41Speaker 4: for sure.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Because everyone's kind of sort of doing their due diligence
- 9:45Speaker 1: to try to figure out what's going on. So we're
- 9:48Speaker 1: just sort of for his landscaping company, surveying company.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Was he technically still working there at this point or
- 9:55Speaker 2: was he He was.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Okay, so are brothers.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yep. And they had worked together as well, well, I
- 10:06Speaker 2: had Well, he didn't show up for work for like.
- 10:08Speaker 3: A week, yeah, and then showed up and he boss
- 10:12Speaker 3: told him to leave.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah, basically he got fired. Well then like I'm not
- 10:18Speaker 2: going to continue to work this job without him, and
- 10:21Speaker 2: you know he ended up, you know, still coming, but
- 10:24Speaker 2: you know, he.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Freaked out, flipped out.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And then after the whole everything that went over the weekend,
- 10:31Speaker 2: like into Saturday and then Sunday, and then the police
- 10:34Speaker 2: got called and all that stuff, and Michelle ended up
- 10:36Speaker 2: getting in contact with She says she saw them at
- 10:39Speaker 2: the gas station and asked if they had her from Cody,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and I guess one of them said no, but then
- 10:48Speaker 2: there was a girlfriend in the back who said yes.
- 10:51Speaker 2: So it was just really confusing information. And I guess
- 10:57Speaker 2: Griz the boss man on Sunday when they all had
- 10:59Speaker 2: to meet up there at the shop because the police
- 11:02Speaker 2: had been called at this point because the truck had
- 11:06Speaker 2: been missing. Now, I guess Cad said that they had
- 11:12Speaker 2: been in contact with him, so they lied. Well, I
- 11:17Speaker 2: guess Grizz fired for lying because he was had seen
- 11:24Speaker 2: Cody and like knew at this point where that he
- 11:26Speaker 2: had taken the truck. Like it was just it's just
- 11:29Speaker 2: a whole mess, and a lot of this information is
- 11:33Speaker 2: not out for anybody to really know. And I think
- 11:38Speaker 2: this just everything is just swept under the rug, like
- 11:42Speaker 2: a lot of the I feel are important details. Pretty
- 11:45Speaker 2: much most of what is out there is that he
- 11:48Speaker 2: is a criminal. I mean, at one point they released
- 11:51Speaker 2: an article saying that not to approach him because he
- 11:54Speaker 2: was dangerous.
- 11:55Speaker 4: I mean, if anybody.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Truly knew Cody like he he is not a dangerous person.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Like it just it blew my mind all the things
- 12:03Speaker 2: that we have seen and read about him and what
- 12:05Speaker 2: they're posting. And then after that it just kind of
- 12:10Speaker 2: faded away. And I don't know what they're still doing
- 12:14Speaker 2: because they haven't really released any more information that I
- 12:17Speaker 2: am aware of. But I mean, it's been so long
- 12:21Speaker 2: and there's nothing new. It's just it's a whole it's
- 12:26Speaker 2: a mess. It's just a mess.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Here's what I'm gathering from that that this lines up
- 12:32Speaker 1: with the Saturday and Yes shop getting broken into apparently
- 12:37Speaker 1: and Cody's phone in enough some clothes, Yes we're there,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and everything was all.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I think everything was.
- 12:44Speaker 2: In the Yeah, okay, And it doesn't make sense why
- 12:48Speaker 2: the shop would have been broken into because Cody had
- 12:50Speaker 2: a key.
- 12:51Speaker 3: And I had. The truck that went missing is not
- 12:55Speaker 3: the truck that he borrowed exactly. The truck that went
- 12:58Speaker 3: missing is a different truck. Are one truck and you're
- 13:01Speaker 3: supposed to return come back to work Saturday. Well that
- 13:06Speaker 3: that truck was back. It was a whole different truck
- 13:08Speaker 3: that was tooken.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I've actually a theory on how that happened, but
- 13:12Speaker 5: not something I'm ready to broadcast yet.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I don't even think I know that theory yet.
- 13:17Speaker 5: I've been working on this, so.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Kind of keep telling you. I think you said something
- 13:25Speaker 1: really powerful. And what you said was there are a
- 13:28Speaker 1: lot of things that have been swept under the rug
- 13:30Speaker 1: or aren't out there because there's this perception of Cody
- 13:35Speaker 1: that you know is just a part of him rather
- 13:38Speaker 1: than him as the whole person. So tell us more
- 13:41Speaker 1: about what you think isn't out there. What do people
- 13:43Speaker 1: need to know?
- 13:44Speaker 2: So Cody had gotten into some trouble at some point.
- 13:49Speaker 2: This was before he was like he was when Chat
- 13:54Speaker 2: and him work together. He had been doing really good
- 13:57Speaker 2: at this point, you know, like he wanted to better
- 14:00Speaker 2: his life, be more involved with his son, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 2: work toward a brighter future. Now, before all that, he
- 14:08Speaker 2: got into a little bit of trouble, and I think
- 14:13Speaker 2: when all this stuff had come out, they really took
- 14:16Speaker 2: that and ran with it.
- 14:17Speaker 4: I know that.
- 14:20Speaker 2: One point I had been told that he had worked
- 14:22Speaker 2: for the police department, and like, I don't know if
- 14:25Speaker 2: it was blunt'stown, Panama, I mean, I don't know, but
- 14:28Speaker 2: he worked for some sort of police department. So I
- 14:32Speaker 2: feel like that had a play in why people want
- 14:37Speaker 2: believing some things that were said. Or I had even tried,
- 14:41Speaker 2: like talking with some of the deputies around town, and
- 14:44Speaker 2: you know, they could give the me very little information
- 14:48Speaker 2: because I worked at the gas station I managed there,
- 14:50Speaker 2: and the deputies would come in all the time and
- 14:52Speaker 2: I'd be like, hey, you know, what's the updates?
- 14:55Speaker 4: Have we heard any updates?
- 14:57Speaker 2: And very limited information for sure. I will also say
- 15:03Speaker 2: that there is one thing that strikes me as really odd.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So when his truck or the work truck that's not
- 15:11Speaker 2: the one he was allowed to borrow, but the one
- 15:13Speaker 2: that had actually went missing like the next day or whatever,
- 15:18Speaker 2: the one that was found in the woods off of
- 15:20Speaker 2: like but one oh nine or whatever that road is
- 15:23Speaker 2: down there. They said that they took the dogs out
- 15:26Speaker 2: there and to try and pick up on scent, and
- 15:30Speaker 2: they couldn't pick up on anything out there from what
- 15:33Speaker 2: I understood, And it's just crazy to me because if
- 15:38Speaker 2: your dogs are as good as you say they are,
- 15:41Speaker 2: then why didn't they pick up on anything out there?
- 15:45Speaker 2: They should have picked up on something if he was
- 15:48Speaker 2: in that truck.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it's interesting. We were told a slightly different story
- 15:51Speaker 5: but still very strange as well, that they the dogs
- 15:55Speaker 5: picked up on Cody sent in the truck, but not.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Outside of the truck exactly.
- 16:03Speaker 1: To me, I'm like, that possible.
- 16:04Speaker 5: He had to Yeah, unless he was never in that truck.
- 16:08Speaker 5: That was my theory behind that, that his scent was
- 16:11Speaker 5: in it, because he's probably actually used that work truck before,
- 16:14Speaker 5: we used multiple trucks.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It's just I mean, I'm no investigator, but sometimes I
- 16:21Speaker 2: feel like I should have, you know, chose a different
- 16:23Speaker 2: career path.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:27Speaker 5: It's funny, that's been kind of our life since we
- 16:29Speaker 5: started this podcast, because it started out as an interesting hobby.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Then it's awesome. Now we do this every week, sometimes
- 16:37Speaker 5: multiple times during the week.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So I'll just talk a little bit about kind of
- 16:41Speaker 1: where I am sitting with this right now, and maybe
- 16:44Speaker 1: you can all respond to that. Like, I don't have
- 16:48Speaker 1: really any hard evidence to prove that this story that
- 16:53Speaker 1: we're being told from whatever happened starting let's say Saturday
- 16:58Speaker 1: morning until Tuesday, is like accurate, right, I mean, we
- 17:04Speaker 1: do know that there is some sort of footage from
- 17:08Speaker 1: a Dollar General where we do see Cody.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I was told that by one of the deputies that
- 17:14Speaker 2: at some point, I can't remember if it was I
- 17:18Speaker 2: think I was told days before he had supposedly went
- 17:23Speaker 2: missing or went on the run or whatever they're trying
- 17:25Speaker 2: to say he did, that he had purchased like a
- 17:30Speaker 2: new phone. I also was told by one of the deputies.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Mind you, this deputy no longer works in Liberty County,
- 17:39Speaker 2: so I'm not quite sure how true or you know,
- 17:44Speaker 2: valuable this information is. But they said that they could
- 17:47Speaker 2: not pick up anything on any of the cameras except
- 17:51Speaker 2: for the subway camera. The camera at the subway, they
- 17:56Speaker 2: saw one of the trucks. I can't remember if it
- 17:58Speaker 2: was truck or the work truck, but they saw all
- 18:02Speaker 2: the boys in it together, Cody. They had drove like
- 18:08Speaker 2: by the subway and it had picked up on one
- 18:11Speaker 2: of the subway cameras.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Do you remember them saying like a date or time
- 18:17Speaker 1: on that at all.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I think it might have been Saturday, but I truly
- 18:24Speaker 2: cannot remember because it was so long ago. I'm sure
- 18:27Speaker 2: if I could go back in my messages, cause I
- 18:30Speaker 2: have this group chat with a couple of girls, my friends,
- 18:33Speaker 2: and we're like FBI engines up in there, like we
- 18:37Speaker 2: we were on this whole kick for weeks, just like
- 18:42Speaker 2: well what if this happened, or what if this happened?
- 18:44Speaker 4: Well this is what I heard.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Well this is what we heard, like just back and
- 18:48Speaker 2: forth and back and forth. So I'm sure I could
- 18:50Speaker 2: like remember some you know, crazy things in there if.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I went back.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah, when we talked to she'll say something and you'll
- 19:02Speaker 1: hear it. She says, oh, at one thirty two, they
- 19:05Speaker 1: said blah blah, blah blah, like she is keeping all
- 19:08Speaker 1: the receipts this call. She has gotten rid of anything.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Now.
- 19:12Speaker 1: We also heard something about a picture of a truck
- 19:17Speaker 1: coming across the bridge from Calhoun County, but we don't
- 19:20Speaker 1: know the date we don't know the time, we don't
- 19:22Speaker 1: know which truck, and we don't know like who was
- 19:24Speaker 1: in it, right, But this image of the truck in
- 19:28Speaker 1: the subway is a new one for us. It's really interesting.
- 19:33Speaker 1: There are a lot of similarities between Cody's disappearance and
- 19:39Speaker 1: Ian Rodgers, who's been missing out of Walcola County. We
- 19:42Speaker 1: have similar things with trucks being captured on cameras but
- 19:46Speaker 1: you can't really tell who's in there. We have this
- 19:50Speaker 1: similar idea of the Sheriff's office saying, don't approach this person,
- 19:54Speaker 1: they're dangerous, because they said the same thing about Ian.
- 19:57Speaker 1: We have them similarly going miss potentially with Cody and
- 20:01Speaker 1: definitely with Ian in a work truck.
- 20:03Speaker 5: And we had two businesses that did not put any
- 20:06Speaker 5: kind of GPS trackers on their work trucks.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, I just thought of something else
- 20:11Speaker 2: that I thought was kind of weird. So Saturday, at
- 20:17Speaker 2: some point in the morning, after Grizz which is the
- 20:21Speaker 2: boss who owns the surveying place, after you know, they
- 20:25Speaker 2: had found out that you know, Cody's all his belongings
- 20:28Speaker 2: were left, he had asked Chad if he knew what
- 20:32Speaker 2: Cody's like pin code was to get into Cody's phone,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and like, I just find that really weird, because like
- 20:40Speaker 2: why do you need that?
- 20:41Speaker 1: And as it turns out, if I'm getting it correctly,
- 20:44Speaker 1: this was actually Selena's phone. Yes, right, she tells us
- 20:48Speaker 1: how she I think took the SIM card. I don't
- 20:51Speaker 1: really understand how the phones work, but he was in
- 20:53Speaker 1: the process of getting a new phone or something like that. Yes,
- 20:55Speaker 1: and she went up there and she got her hands
- 20:58Speaker 1: on that phone, but then I think it ended up
- 21:01Speaker 1: getting turned over.
- 21:01Speaker 4: To the to the show's house.
- 21:03Speaker 1: But she did have it for a short time, and
- 21:05Speaker 1: of course was looking to see what was on that phone.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yeah too.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I don't know if we ever got into it, because
- 21:11Speaker 2: I remember we were trying to figure out like how
- 21:13Speaker 2: to get into it, and you know, I literally we
- 21:17Speaker 2: could not figure out what the pin was. I remember
- 21:20Speaker 2: a deputy saying they couldn't get into the phone because
- 21:22Speaker 2: they had to figure out how to get somebody that
- 21:25Speaker 2: could like tap into it because they didn't have the
- 21:27Speaker 2: pin for it.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I literally remember somebody saying that.
- 21:31Speaker 2: It was his lunch number from school, so I literally
- 21:37Speaker 2: called up to the school. I don't know if I
- 21:40Speaker 2: should even put this on here. But I called up
- 21:42Speaker 2: to the school and I'm not going to say any
- 21:44Speaker 2: names because I don't want to get anybody in trouble.
- 21:46Speaker 2: But I had them look into file and find out
- 21:50Speaker 2: what Cody's lunch number was, and I gave that information
- 21:53Speaker 2: to Michelle to give to the police so that they
- 21:56Speaker 2: were able to get into the phone. So I don't
- 22:01Speaker 2: know if they ever did.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Then did they tell you what they found? Did you never.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Got no information.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I even told one of the deputies that I had
- 22:10Speaker 2: like given that information to Michelle and that she says
- 22:14Speaker 2: she was going to take it to the police, and
- 22:17Speaker 2: he couldn't give me any information.
- 22:19Speaker 4: So he just looked at me that was like, what
- 22:23Speaker 4: do you guys think?
- 22:24Speaker 1: What do you think happened? You know, let's say, let's
- 22:27Speaker 1: just start with Saturday morning, Like, I know you've kicked
- 22:29Speaker 1: these ideas around, talked with your your girlfriends. What's your suspicions?
- 22:36Speaker 2: I think after all this time has passed by and
- 22:39Speaker 2: just like the chain of events that happened. So right
- 22:41Speaker 2: after all this happened, ended up in jail for possession
- 22:47Speaker 2: of drugs, left the state and moved to Georgia.
- 22:52Speaker 4: And I find that very odd, Yes, I do.
- 22:59Speaker 2: So there was a post on the Panhandle Sip and Chat,
- 23:03Speaker 2: which is a group that this local, miss Kaira, she
- 23:07Speaker 2: had created and there's like like thousands of people in
- 23:12Speaker 2: surrounding counties in this group and it's called the Panhandle
- 23:16Speaker 2: Sip and Chat. And somebody had posted about if there
- 23:21Speaker 2: was any more information on Cody because they hadn't heard
- 23:24Speaker 2: anything for a while, and I had put a comment
- 23:27Speaker 2: on there about and I guess he had saw the
- 23:34Speaker 2: comment because he called Chad shortly after that later on
- 23:38Speaker 2: that day and was freaking out, asking Chad why I
- 23:41Speaker 2: was posting all this stuff with his name in there
- 23:44Speaker 2: and all this, And to me, I just thought that,
- 23:47Speaker 2: you know, if you had nothing to worry about, then
- 23:49Speaker 2: why are you freaking out? And so I think sent
- 23:54Speaker 2: are liars. Ye, straight up, I think that they had
- 23:59Speaker 2: something to do with this, and it's just a yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 2: they had supposedly gotten to an altercation that day, and
- 24:10Speaker 2: can somebody say something about Kody like backed into their
- 24:14Speaker 2: truck or something like that, and I think it just
- 24:17Speaker 2: got maybe taken too far or they set him up.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I truly don't know like what exactly happened, but I
- 24:24Speaker 2: do think that they are behind this and the truth
- 24:27Speaker 2: will come out eventually, just for like peace of mind,
- 24:33Speaker 2: for his family's sake, you know, like he has siblings
- 24:36Speaker 2: and he has a son, and you know, I think
- 24:41Speaker 2: that they truly had something to do with him going missing,
- 24:45Speaker 2: whether whether he's alive or not, you know, like who knows,
- 24:51Speaker 2: but who's who goes missing for this long? And I
- 24:55Speaker 2: know for a fact he would have some way contacted
- 24:58Speaker 2: his mom for sure, know that, and just the fact
- 25:02Speaker 2: that he has not is just very alarming. But I
- 25:05Speaker 2: truly think that then definitely definitely had something to do
- 25:12Speaker 2: with all of this, and they're not speaking on it.
- 25:16Speaker 2: And if it was one of them, I'm sure their
- 25:19Speaker 2: family would like to know, you know, if the roles
- 25:22Speaker 2: were reversed.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And do you feel like there are leads or rumors
- 25:26Speaker 1: that you have heard about that have not been fully investigated.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yes, I'm sure that there is. What was that thing
- 25:36Speaker 2: that somebody had said something not long ago, It was
- 25:40Speaker 2: a few months ago, if I heard it at the
- 25:43Speaker 2: gas station. It was something about saying that.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Like they had.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Somebody had brought up some sort of information about how
- 25:54Speaker 2: they had something went wrong and they had killed Cody
- 25:59Speaker 2: and buried him, and then they planted the truck somewhere
- 26:02Speaker 2: and then moved his body. They planted the truck down
- 26:05Speaker 2: there at like one oh nine so that they could
- 26:09Speaker 2: move his body elsewhere, like as a as a setup
- 26:13Speaker 2: or something like that. And like, I mean, it's just
- 26:17Speaker 2: the rumor mill, you know, like it's going to continue
- 26:21Speaker 2: and you know, until we get some information answers.
- 26:24Speaker 4: But I mean, who knows what's true.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I mean literally, there's free sights to every story. You know,
- 26:34Speaker 2: his hers, theirs and you know whatever and the true side.
- 26:39Speaker 4: So I mean, I don't know if we'll ever know.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I hope we do, and I hope we.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Find out more information or you know, peace of mind,
- 26:48Speaker 2: just anything, any any kind of information, just this sliver
- 26:52Speaker 2: would be you know, helpful for his Cody's family. I mean,
- 26:56Speaker 2: it's it's I can't imagine, like one my kids go missing,
- 27:02Speaker 2: Like I have three kids of my own, and I
- 27:04Speaker 2: just could not imagine that.
- 27:06Speaker 1: What do you think is, well, let's walk down the
- 27:09Speaker 1: path of these two guys have something to do with it.
- 27:13Speaker 1: What are the pieces that are missing? What do you
- 27:16Speaker 1: think the Liberty County Sheriff's Office might need to be
- 27:19Speaker 1: able to.
- 27:21Speaker 4: I think they're biased.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think that they you know, I heard that failed
- 27:27Speaker 2: a light detect or polygraph whatever you call those. I
- 27:33Speaker 2: feel like that right there, Like what were the questions
- 27:35Speaker 2: that were asked? You know that like caused them to
- 27:40Speaker 2: fail it? You know, were they important questions?
- 27:44Speaker 5: You know?
- 27:44Speaker 2: Was it vital information or was it just stupid questions?
- 27:49Speaker 5: You know?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Like I mean, I don't know, because there's just, like
- 27:53Speaker 2: I said, there has not been very much information surface
- 27:57Speaker 2: and the things that we do know any anything that
- 28:01Speaker 2: you look up is oh, well he's a he's a fugitive,
- 28:06Speaker 2: he's wanted for this, he's wanted for that. Well what
- 28:08Speaker 2: about you know, like all this shady stuff that happened
- 28:13Speaker 2: that weekend, Like why how come that's not like you got,
- 28:18Speaker 2: like me, all the things that I've heard, the things
- 28:20Speaker 2: that I you know, know because of you know, what
- 28:23Speaker 2: I've seen, or the things that I've heard when on
- 28:26Speaker 2: Chad's phone calls with the boss man or you know,
- 28:29Speaker 2: he worked directly at that office or at.
- 28:31Speaker 4: That shop, so he knew a lot of information.
- 28:35Speaker 2: You know. When the truck was found, one of the
- 28:38Speaker 2: other guys that worked there called Chatt and was like hey, yo,
- 28:40Speaker 2: Like they found the truck and Chad was like, no way.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And we saw the truck and what it looked like,
- 28:47Speaker 2: and it just I mean it was it was beat up,
- 28:51Speaker 2: but it didn't look like I mean, it looked like
- 28:54Speaker 2: it was intentionally beat up.
- 28:55Speaker 4: I guess. I mean, I don't know.
- 28:58Speaker 2: I just I have my suspicions of my own opinions.
- 29:01Speaker 2: I think that the police department could do better, but
- 29:04Speaker 2: I think that they are so wrapped up in catching
- 29:09Speaker 2: all these people for doing drugs around here that they
- 29:13Speaker 2: are missing out on important cases like this, any any
- 29:19Speaker 2: important case. I mean, there's been multiple missing people around here.
- 29:25Speaker 2: This lady was found in like the marsh down the
- 29:29Speaker 2: river after she had been missing for like what two
- 29:32Speaker 2: three weeks? No, No, this was Yes, it was a
- 29:39Speaker 2: different lady. She lived right down the road by the
- 29:43Speaker 2: Bristol Boat landing and a camper down there, and she
- 29:47Speaker 2: went missing and then next thing you know, they had
- 29:49Speaker 2: found her in the marsh up up the river. And
- 29:52Speaker 2: then there's Lacey Ammons that was you know, found in
- 29:55Speaker 2: a ditch in Hosford. And then there was a per
- 29:59Speaker 2: La Alvare that was found over there in once Town.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Uh in her truck that was sunk in water. She
- 30:08Speaker 2: was found like floating in the car. Her truck was
- 30:11Speaker 2: supposedly put in park. They think that she had ran
- 30:15Speaker 2: through this gate. Like it's just I mean, and nobody.
- 30:17Speaker 2: We don't know any more information on that case either,
- 30:20Speaker 2: Like so much stuff has happened. Somebody's tesla was found
- 30:25Speaker 2: in a freaking hunt and lease down Turkey Creek Road
- 30:28Speaker 2: with nobody in it, and the man that had it
- 30:33Speaker 2: is missing. Still never found him, no more information on
- 30:36Speaker 2: that case, Like they don't care about anything other than
- 30:39Speaker 2: people doing drugs around here.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I feel that's the guy from Louisiana, right, the tesla. Yes,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'm hearing all these kinds of things. Yeah, and it's good, right,
- 30:50Speaker 1: Like this is what we want to know. We want
- 30:52Speaker 1: to hear what's going on in our neighboring counties and
- 30:57Speaker 1: maybe put our heads together and see if we can
- 30:59Speaker 1: make some hadwagh on some of these things. I think
- 31:01Speaker 1: is great is the idea.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I'll tell you what.
- 31:04Speaker 2: All this stuff will make you not want to move
- 31:06Speaker 2: to Bristol.
- 31:08Speaker 1: We're just about to head back to Crawfordville, so metwhere
- 31:17Speaker 1: it's everywhere.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I know. It's just because it's a small town, so
- 31:20Speaker 2: it's it's close to home. It's close to everybody because
- 31:23Speaker 2: everybody knows everybody and everybody's.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Family around it.
- 31:26Speaker 1: So you know, m hmm, that happened to us. The
- 31:32Speaker 1: first case that we covered is the Jody Kilgore un
- 31:35Speaker 1: soft homicide in Wilcolla County, and that's Michael's uncle. And
- 31:39Speaker 1: we would be talking to people I know about the
- 31:43Speaker 1: next case, which was Ian Rodgers, and then someone would
- 31:45Speaker 1: go hold on before you guys, hang up. We want
- 31:47Speaker 1: to tell you what we know about Jody Kilgore because
- 31:49Speaker 1: I know, you know his mom cut my hair or whatever, right,
- 31:53Speaker 1: And I'm I'm from a big metro area. I'm from
- 31:55Speaker 1: the Denver area, and so this is just wild to me,
- 31:58Speaker 1: Like somebody will just grab the phone from sitting. Oh
- 32:01Speaker 1: wait wait, we want to tell you about this because
- 32:02Speaker 1: we babysat.
- 32:03Speaker 6: So and so, Yes, dog groomers whatever. You know, it's
- 32:08Speaker 6: really crazy not to me, Like it seems so strange
- 32:11Speaker 6: to me that when you have these tight knit communities
- 32:13Speaker 6: and people know what's going on, why aren't we solving
- 32:16Speaker 6: these things right?
- 32:18Speaker 1: Like why does it take so long to find Ian
- 32:20Speaker 1: Rodgers truck? Why do we not know where he is?
- 32:21Speaker 1: Why do we not know where Cody is? Why do
- 32:23Speaker 1: we not know who who killed Jody Kilgore? Like people
- 32:26Speaker 1: talk all the time, So what's.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Mismitally and what's crazy is you know, we've broadcast quite
- 32:34Speaker 5: a bit on a lot of these different, you know cases,
- 32:36Speaker 5: but it would be shocking for you guys to know
- 32:39Speaker 5: how much people tell us that we never record. Yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 5: and that's that's super common and so yeah, but it
- 32:45Speaker 5: goes right back to what Alisa is saying. The information's
- 32:49Speaker 5: right there. What are we waiting on?
- 32:51Speaker 2: Literally, like you can't tell me that, Like, after all
- 32:55Speaker 2: this time, nobody knows anything like it.
- 32:58Speaker 3: M h.
- 32:59Speaker 4: I just don't believe it. I just don't believe.
- 33:02Speaker 1: It, particularly with what we're supposed to believe is one
- 33:08Speaker 1: of the last people to see him is currently incarcerated.
- 33:13Speaker 1: So this person is easy to access, don't We don't
- 33:17Speaker 1: need to figure out where they are. We know where
- 33:19Speaker 1: he is, so let's ask him. I'm gonna need to
- 33:22Speaker 1: do my little investigation. This is easy to actually find out.
- 33:25Speaker 1: You just have to go to clerk or the courts
- 33:27Speaker 1: and you can literally grow Jinny, Florida.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I live on that website.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and they'll tell you, like, you know, who's incarcerated,
- 33:35Speaker 1: where when is their release date? So I mean I
- 33:38Speaker 1: can definitely, I can definitely check that out because that
- 33:42Speaker 1: is of concern to me. If he's no longer incarcerated
- 33:47Speaker 1: and has been released from there, but is probably someone
- 33:50Speaker 1: who knows a lot about this information, he's just going
- 33:53Speaker 1: to to just walk away and probably make.
- 33:57Speaker 2: States literally honestly, I mean I literally like I was
- 34:04Speaker 2: looking for them one time, like me and.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Was it me and Kelly?
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:10Speaker 4: I think it was me and my sister in law.
- 34:12Speaker 2: We literally like drove around and we were like looking
- 34:15Speaker 2: for their vehicles, like We're like, where do they live?
- 34:19Speaker 2: Like something suspicious, Like I want to see if he
- 34:23Speaker 2: even did back in because they said that Cody was
- 34:27Speaker 2: in the work truck and like they got into an
- 34:29Speaker 2: altercation at the job what Saturday morning or Sunday or
- 34:34Speaker 2: whatever the day that Cody took the truck or whatever
- 34:37Speaker 2: because Cody had like backed into.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 34:43Speaker 2: So we were like, Okay, well let's see this truck.
- 34:45Speaker 4: So we literally got in our carme.
- 34:47Speaker 2: We don't know where these boys live, but I mean
- 34:49Speaker 2: Bristol on one sounds small enough.
- 34:50Speaker 4: We'll figure it out.
- 34:52Speaker 2: We were literally driving roads like trying to see like, Okay,
- 34:56Speaker 2: this is what truck he supposedly has. I've seen it
- 34:59Speaker 2: at the job.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Let's go see if we can find it.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Driving just down all these roads trying to see if
- 35:04Speaker 2: we can find it, googling like their names to see
- 35:08Speaker 2: who they're related to, to see like the parcels, to
- 35:11Speaker 2: see who lives where at what address.
- 35:14Speaker 4: I'm telling you we do all that.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a ben verified account, and then we
- 35:20Speaker 1: have a very close friend who is in the real
- 35:24Speaker 1: estate business, and we'll just be like hey, and then
- 35:29Speaker 1: we can get Yeah, we're doing similar. Yes, I think
- 35:33Speaker 1: it seems like to talk more about you're the first
- 35:37Speaker 1: people who have said anything about some potential crash, not
- 35:41Speaker 1: crashing of the truck, but backing up of the truck.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Can you tell us more about what you've heard?
- 35:46Speaker 2: So, I don't know how did that part even come up,
- 35:49Speaker 2: because I truly don't remember.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I'm not sure either.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I just somebody had said something, was it?
- 35:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Somebody had said something.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I'm trying to google it on my phone to see
- 36:04Speaker 2: if I can find it. Something about an altercation, and
- 36:08Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure. Some I don't know if it was
- 36:11Speaker 2: because they back he back supposedly backed into his truck,
- 36:15Speaker 2: or if he like they got into the altercation and
- 36:19Speaker 2: then he like tried to like speed up out of
- 36:22Speaker 2: there and hit his truck and like fled and that's
- 36:25Speaker 2: like what they were saying. I can't truly remember, but
- 36:29Speaker 2: I'm sure it's in these messages.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Carl, Can you tell us if Cody hung out with
- 36:34Speaker 1: these guys a lot, or if it was unusual for
- 36:37Speaker 1: him to spend what feels like to be an extended
- 36:40Speaker 1: amount of time with them, it.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Was new, like because they started working with us later on,
- 36:47Speaker 3: so it was new that he was hanging out with them.
- 36:50Speaker 3: That was like the first time.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the sense we get as well. To me,
- 36:56Speaker 1: this feels like super obvious unless we're using something like
- 37:02Speaker 1: that just hasn't been brought to us, you know, when
- 37:05Speaker 1: we have talked about some of our other cases, like
- 37:07Speaker 1: particularly with Ian, where there were several different directions we
- 37:10Speaker 1: were thinking about, and in this one, I mean, I mean,
- 37:14Speaker 1: this is a pretty clear direction for me as well.
- 37:17Speaker 5: So one of the things We've done this already, but
- 37:19Speaker 5: we haven't gotten a response back yet. But we're already
- 37:22Speaker 5: reaching out to law enforcement. And one of the things
- 37:23Speaker 5: we're doing is we're putting all this together and compiling
- 37:27Speaker 5: all the information what's similar, and we're gonna send it
- 37:30Speaker 5: to them and say, Okay, what's going on and what
- 37:33Speaker 5: needs to be communicating out with the family. And so
- 37:35Speaker 5: what we've learned through this journey we've taken, you know,
- 37:38Speaker 5: even just creating a podcast is you know, putting pressure
- 37:42Speaker 5: on law enforcement is something that does first of all,
- 37:44Speaker 5: does work, but you have to be very consistent about it.
- 37:47Speaker 4: You have to do it all the time.
- 37:48Speaker 1: You cannot let up.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Even some of the you know, various experts we've had
- 37:52Speaker 5: on the show have indicated the same idea. They're like,
- 37:55Speaker 5: just stay on it and don't don't let them. Don't
- 37:58Speaker 5: let their apathy get you to go away, because what happened.
- 38:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 38:03Speaker 5: It's like I said, we've been pretty consistent with this
- 38:06Speaker 5: now is we've been able to get these cases elevated
- 38:09Speaker 5: even to the national level. And that's great, and so
- 38:11Speaker 5: that's what we intend to do with this one.
- 38:14Speaker 2: So one last thing I did, for sure want to
- 38:16Speaker 2: mention about, like the deputies, just like in the investigation,
- 38:22Speaker 2: just how they went about doing all this. I find
- 38:27Speaker 2: it very weird that in the midst of all this,
- 38:31Speaker 2: you know, supposedly for at least Saturday and Sunday, until
- 38:40Speaker 2: finally fested up to saying that they had been around Cody.
- 38:47Speaker 2: I will say that the police never once, you know,
- 38:50Speaker 2: questioned Chad about you know, like how Cody was or
- 38:55Speaker 2: when he last saw him, or he was one of
- 38:58Speaker 2: the last people as well to have seen Cody, Like
- 39:02Speaker 2: they worked together Friday and then Chad went home and
- 39:05Speaker 2: Cody had supposedly went home or whatever he wherever he
- 39:09Speaker 2: truly went, and.
- 39:12Speaker 4: He was.
- 39:13Speaker 2: They never questioned Chad. Chad don't think ever got brought
- 39:16Speaker 2: up like I mean, I don't know if that could
- 39:20Speaker 2: have been, you know, he could have given any information,
- 39:23Speaker 2: but I mean, I they didn't put the effort in
- 39:27Speaker 2: exactly I would have, you know, been contacting anybody that
- 39:31Speaker 2: had been seen with him or had been around him
- 39:35Speaker 2: in the last like however many days, forty eight hours,
- 39:38Speaker 2: the first forty eight you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 39:41Speaker 2: and I just think it's crazy. Yes, I just think
- 39:45Speaker 2: it's crazy they did at all.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yes, we see something similar again with Ian and Willcolla
- 39:54Speaker 1: County that the person that he his girlfriend at the
- 39:58Speaker 1: time that he went missing, me he's actually living with,
- 40:02Speaker 1: is not someone that the we'll call a county sheriff's
- 40:04Speaker 1: office spoke with at least initially. In fact, from what
- 40:08Speaker 1: I remember her saying, they never actually even went to
- 40:11Speaker 1: her house to like to like see where he was living,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and there's some sort of belief that he was in
- 40:17Speaker 1: his work truck in the driveway. They never went and
- 40:20Speaker 1: talked to the people who were at the house that
- 40:22Speaker 1: day that Ian went missing to find out if that
- 40:24Speaker 1: was accurate.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Like then, And I mean maybe that's just I mean,
- 40:30Speaker 2: who knows if it's like missed information, But I mean,
- 40:32Speaker 2: you never know until you talk to that person. There
- 40:34Speaker 2: could have been some sort of missed information, and you know,
- 40:37Speaker 2: you just never know.
- 40:39Speaker 4: But who who knows. I'm no investigator.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I'm actually thinking about getting my private investigator license. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: don't really know what it takes. I think I can
- 40:47Speaker 1: just you know, I'm sure there's some what do you like,
- 40:50Speaker 1: you know, buy a diploma thing right something like that.
- 40:55Speaker 5: Well, I would say that's pretty far from the truth,
- 40:58Speaker 5: but that's not what this episode's about, all right.
- 41:03Speaker 1: As we kind of wrap anything else that you wanted
- 41:07Speaker 1: to talk about, that you know, has maybe come to
- 41:10Speaker 1: you while we've been talking now, just any like you
- 41:13Speaker 1: had said earlier, any sliver of information could be the
- 41:16Speaker 1: information that is.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Needed exactly in this moment. I can't think of.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Anything that I haven't already said, but I'm sure that
- 41:24Speaker 2: I will think of something after we get off this
- 41:27Speaker 2: podcast of like, oh my.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Gosh, I didn't mention this. I should have mentioned that.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I know it'll happen, just even if it's just.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Things that like I thought of back then a year
- 41:38Speaker 2: half ago when all this was going on. You know,
- 41:42Speaker 2: it was just so much crazy stuff going on in
- 41:45Speaker 2: that whole moment, like for just weeks and then it
- 41:50Speaker 2: kind of just like dissipated and that was it, Like
- 41:56Speaker 2: and then, I mean, you haven't heard any other information, right, hope?
- 42:00Speaker 4: Yea, I mean either.
