- 1:57Speaker 4: Thank you for hopping on today. Is this the I
- 2:01Speaker 4: know you've been on? We have Marler Monday? Of course
- 2:04Speaker 4: that that you made up that name?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Is this?
- 2:06Speaker 4: Uh?
- 2:07Speaker 3: For the full show? Though? Is this is second? Third time? Third?
- 2:11Speaker 4: Second time I've been behind a microphone for a while.
- 2:13Speaker 4: It's like, what I It's what I do most well.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I know that I'm talking about on this show though.
- 2:18Speaker 4: No, it's only a second time. Okay, So very excited
- 2:21Speaker 4: to be here back in Baton Rouge. You live here,
- 2:25Speaker 4: I do live here, love it and yeah, be back.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So it's uh, it's been a little bit more than
- 2:31Speaker 3: a year since you've been here. Huh.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Well, I saw, oh yeah, he had an announcement.
- 2:35Speaker 4: There were so many announcements last week, announcement I moved
- 2:37Speaker 4: a year ago.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Those are very normal.
- 2:40Speaker 4: People liked it.
- 2:41Speaker 5: That was a very normal question. And he looked at
- 2:43Speaker 5: me like, what what did you just ask me?
- 2:45Speaker 4: I mean, there's just so many announcements I like to
- 2:47Speaker 4: make on so many so many announcements. Announcement.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Let's have a day, y'all.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Let's have a day, y'all. That's usually when I've done
- 2:53Speaker 4: something bad than I before. Yeah, anytime you see me
- 2:56Speaker 4: wake up and I'm like, guys, son came up, everything's great,
- 2:59Speaker 4: it's because I got, yeah, way too excited about being
- 3:02Speaker 4: out with the friends the night before, just where it
- 3:05Speaker 4: did something bad on Twitter.
- 3:07Speaker 5: That's okay, Sorry you wait, wake up in a little
- 3:09Speaker 5: bit of a panic, just like, what did I do
- 3:11Speaker 5: last night?
- 3:12Speaker 4: Anxiety? Did you? We didn't. I didn't feel like I
- 3:14Speaker 4: had that in my twenties, and now.
- 3:17Speaker 2: It is the worst I've always gotten it. Like anxiety
- 3:21Speaker 2: is like the number one reason why I don't get
- 3:23Speaker 2: like blackout drunk anymore.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah, that's a number. That's the only reason,
- 3:29Speaker 4: not for the health benefits, but I mean also, yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 4: this is the.
- 3:32Speaker 5: First time I've ever hearing the term anxiety. I could
- 3:36Speaker 5: see that, which makes a lot of sense, But like,
- 3:40Speaker 5: I don't know, I guess it's been a while since
- 3:42Speaker 5: I've woken up with anxiety.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I don't know. Good for you, dude, I mean or
- 3:46Speaker 3: anxiety excuse me, and I got.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Anxiety waking up today and no, and we're doing the
- 3:52Speaker 5: show with Marler all day.
- 3:53Speaker 3: A little bit of thanks, But it wasn't a hangover time.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Do you think I wasn't gonna wake up on time?
- 3:58Speaker 5: Uh, there's a little bit of that, but I know
- 4:01Speaker 5: you did. You sent the pictures of the caffeine.
- 4:05Speaker 4: We brought it with us.
- 4:05Speaker 5: And so can we get a usually it's a vibe
- 4:08Speaker 5: check here in the first segment, but let's do a caffeine.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Well, here's the thing. I usually I usually fib a
- 4:13Speaker 4: little bit like you under Yeah, I'm like, I'm like,
- 4:17Speaker 4: I'm not doing that?
- 4:18Speaker 3: Is it kind of like the rule of three? No,
- 4:21Speaker 3: it's not that crazy.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But Ally's traveling for work, so she's not awake right now,
- 4:26Speaker 4: so I know she's not watching. So yeah, we're two
- 4:27Speaker 4: thirty right now. That is an accurate number.
- 4:30Speaker 3: My next move.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, was it a it was a five hour watermelon.
- 4:36Speaker 3: It's only a three hour show.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You do know that, right, I'm gonna have about seventeen
- 4:40Speaker 4: hours of energy to get through it having a deal
- 4:43Speaker 4: with you? Am I right? No, I don't mean that.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I love doing the show, all right, brother, Yeah, But
- 4:48Speaker 4: I mean, you know, listen. Everyone seemed very concerned about
- 4:51Speaker 4: that in Tampa, and I don't. It didn't seem like
- 4:53Speaker 4: it was that abnormal.
- 4:54Speaker 2: What you drink caffeine? Yeah, I mean it's like a
- 4:57Speaker 2: thousand milligrams in a day.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Do you think we're gonna get to a thousand today?
- 5:02Speaker 5: One thousand percent this morning?
- 5:04Speaker 4: Yes?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Okay, one thousand percent.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I think so we could do it. I think we
- 5:07Speaker 4: could do anything.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Why are you taking it as a challenge? Yeah, that's okay, doc,
- 5:12Speaker 2: doctor right, I can eat okay, doctor right. You haven't
- 5:16Speaker 2: even seen no, oh, you can eat no doctor. Athreage
- 5:21Speaker 2: is coming in today. I want to be like, can
- 5:24Speaker 2: you bring your sick new ultrasout machine so we can
- 5:28Speaker 2: see how large Marler's heart is.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I don't want to do that.
- 5:32Speaker 5: It's huge, Yeah, for most healthy adults. The US Food
- 5:34Speaker 5: and Drug Administration recommends a maximum moment of four hundred
- 5:37Speaker 5: milligrams of caffeine per day.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And you're like, what's crazy about one thousand?
- 5:43Speaker 4: The Food and Drug Administration? Okay, we trust the government.
- 5:46Speaker 5: This is the amount generally not linked to dangerous or
- 5:49Speaker 5: negative health effects.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You know what, I think that I think that's up
- 5:53Speaker 2: for interpretation.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, certainly, but every day maybe fifty to
- 5:59Speaker 5: one hundred sure.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah, a thousand, not doing it all at once, not
- 6:04Speaker 4: in one bottle.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah, they don't recommend four hundred at one time. Yeah
- 6:08Speaker 3: in one shot.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Right, Well, let's move on to something else that's not
- 6:10Speaker 4: gonna make me want to have more anxiety. Not that
- 6:13Speaker 4: I'm hungover, because I'm not today, thank you.
- 6:16Speaker 3: You would just call that anxiety.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Anxiety anyway? What's new with you?
- 6:23Speaker 1: Uh?
- 6:23Speaker 5: Not much, man. We are entering the next couple of weeks.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Of course, Jacob Pastor will be traveling the country going
- 6:31Speaker 5: to different training camps.
- 6:32Speaker 3: He will be. He's traveling today and I think it's.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Going to be a Chargers training camp for the for
- 6:37Speaker 5: this week, for a couple of days, and then next
- 6:40Speaker 5: week his he's about to be a Diamond, platinum whatever
- 6:44Speaker 5: he is and whatever airline and whatever hotel he uses,
- 6:48Speaker 5: because he is going to be at a different training
- 6:50Speaker 5: camp every single day for the next couple of weeks.
- 6:53Speaker 4: He has zero issues with travel like that is it
- 6:56Speaker 4: is a massive issue.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Now, Well, Mercury's not in retrograde in anymore, so we
- 7:00Speaker 2: should be good.
- 7:02Speaker 4: This one wasn't that bad.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Really, I don't. We had like a thousand technical difficult difficulties.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Oh TV was the only show though. Yeah. I walked
- 7:12Speaker 4: up and I was like, hey, guys, good morning, get
- 7:15Speaker 4: away energy over here.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Get the what were the murcury? What were the words
- 7:23Speaker 3: you said?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Mercury, mercury and retrograde.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I don't like how you're saying that mercury.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I was saying in a weird way, freddy mercury.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Well, okay, so people say that mercury starts to travel backwards,
- 7:36Speaker 2: like the planet mercury that way.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I don't know mercury, mercury.
- 7:41Speaker 2: How do you say it?
- 7:43Speaker 4: Mercury, mercury.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Okay, it's mercury, yes, okay, So mercury starts to travel
- 7:51Speaker 2: backwards and they say that everything it's like two okay,
- 7:59Speaker 2: what it's like egregious?
- 8:02Speaker 4: I thought it was just mercury, mercury.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I heard everybody says it fast though, no one.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never heard somebody like mercury.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 5: I don't think i've ever heard the phrase. You're saying
- 8:14Speaker 5: mercury wrong though, Like.
- 8:15Speaker 4: No, mercury is a real thing, and I listen, I
- 8:19Speaker 4: make fun of.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I don't believe it.
- 8:21Speaker 4: But I'm just like I think I do. I think, well,
- 8:23Speaker 4: the white women when they talk about I can say this, yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 4: wh white woman. I know plenty of white women.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I used to see, you're engaged to one, look at.
- 8:31Speaker 4: My hips, so I luke laugh. But the like, I
- 8:43Speaker 4: don't even like zodiac signs, like I hate Like when
- 8:45Speaker 4: somebody I this used to drive me crazy because I
- 8:48Speaker 4: had an ex would be like, I'm sorry I acted
- 8:50Speaker 4: that way and got all upset. I'm just I'm just
- 8:53Speaker 4: a cancer, and it's like, no, you're a terrible person.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You are literally a cancer.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 4: I didn't want to say it that way, but I mean, yes,
- 9:00Speaker 4: but yeah, but mercury being in gatorade a retrograde is
- 9:04Speaker 4: I think that's a very real thing.
- 9:06Speaker 2: So yeah, they say it travel it starts to travel backwards.
- 9:09Speaker 2: So it just messes everything up. And like the one
- 9:11Speaker 2: biggest thing is like technology and travel.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Oh I didn't know that, So.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Your travel has been really messed up.
- 9:19Speaker 4: You should he I didn't want to get into it
- 9:21Speaker 4: because I didn't want to make everything about me. Don't
- 9:23Speaker 4: get on the show. But well that's not okay. So
- 9:27Speaker 4: this weekend we were traveling to Boston and then we
- 9:31Speaker 4: were going to a wedding in Maine, and if you've
- 9:34Speaker 4: ever done that, don't. It's very difficult to get to. Yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 4: so we had to fly from Baton Rouge to Boston
- 9:42Speaker 4: and then you have to take an uber from Boston
- 9:43Speaker 4: to Maine. Everyone keeps telling me how wrong that is
- 9:45Speaker 4: because you're crossing over state lines, but it's like an
- 9:47Speaker 4: hour drive. It's it's literally to go where we were
- 9:50Speaker 4: going in Maine, Kiddy, Maine. It's the same distance from
- 9:51Speaker 4: New Orleans.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yes, but also taking an uber from New Orleans to
- 9:56Speaker 2: Baton Rouge your vice versus also kind of crazy.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Depends on the mood, but yeah, usually it is. So
- 10:01Speaker 4: we we had to what do you call it? We
- 10:04Speaker 4: got We got a flight up there that was delayed
- 10:06Speaker 4: by four hours. Then they lost our bags. Then we
- 10:09Speaker 4: got to Maine and they were like, we'll deliver them
- 10:11Speaker 4: to you, and they're like, no, never mind. So then
- 10:14Speaker 4: and all this is happening, Alley's like on her phone.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I'm like, is everything okay? Or they dropping off the back.
- 10:18Speaker 4: She's like, yeah, I got it. Next morning I wake up,
- 10:20Speaker 4: she's gone, and I was like, did you go back
- 10:22Speaker 4: to ball? Like what's going on where are you at?
- 10:24Speaker 4: She went back to get our bags in Boston, came
- 10:26Speaker 4: back to Maine. Then our flight yesterday was delayed by
- 10:29Speaker 4: four hours, and then so she had to go to
- 10:31Speaker 4: Nashville for work today and flew out of Baton Rouge.
- 10:34Speaker 4: This was this was my least favorite thing it's ever
- 10:36Speaker 4: happen in travel. I decided to treat her and give
- 10:39Speaker 4: her a two hundred dollars upgrade for first class sea
- 10:42Speaker 4: within three minutes. The fight was delayed by four hours.
- 10:46Speaker 4: So she got in last night at like two thirty
- 10:48Speaker 4: in the morning in Nashville shout out out my goodness. Yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 4: but yeah, Mercury cater it.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Oh okay, so this is I'm sorry, by the way.
- 10:58Speaker 5: That sucks like traveling swapster.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I mean, what are we doing? Bro?
- 11:03Speaker 5: We all kind of like coming back from uh, going
- 11:06Speaker 5: to and coming back from Tampa was kind of a
- 11:08Speaker 5: mess for everybody.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: I just saw that guy's bags on accent most of
- 11:13Speaker 4: our issues. On the way back from Selfish Hunt.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Marlon and I we get back from SEC media day,
- 11:19Speaker 5: so we all fly back together because Moscona, Rivers and
- 11:24Speaker 5: Hester they stayed because they had the afternoon show. So
- 11:26Speaker 5: we all fly out a little bit earlier, and we
- 11:29Speaker 5: get our bags.
- 11:30Speaker 3: We all checked. We get to the.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Car, which took us a little bit hunt kind of
- 11:34Speaker 5: forgot where he parked, but we got there.
- 11:35Speaker 3: We found it.
- 11:36Speaker 5: We get to the car and Marler gets a call
- 11:41Speaker 5: from the airline from and I got a text from Rivers.
- 11:43Speaker 4: She's like, you left your bag, And I was like, no,
- 11:45Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Arler took the wrong person's bag. Alla.
- 11:49Speaker 5: I've never heard of anybody in the history of travel,
- 11:54Speaker 5: have you traveled taking the wrong person?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Maybe off it's the same bag.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Do you see a lot of you I can read
- 12:04Speaker 4: apparently not.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Well, you're a writer.
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's a.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Writer enguished.
- 12:15Speaker 3: So I've never seen anyone do that.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Actually walk out of the premises, like walk out of
- 12:18Speaker 5: the building with it, maybe like take a couple of
- 12:20Speaker 5: steps because it looks the same. I get it, but
- 12:23Speaker 5: it is. It was kind of wild. I've never like,
- 12:27Speaker 5: it didn't look like a brand new bag. Nobody has, like, yeah,
- 12:31Speaker 5: it's kind of wild that it was exactly.
- 12:32Speaker 4: It was like seven You didn't check it, and I
- 12:35Speaker 4: had to be back in that airport within ten hours, okay,
- 12:38Speaker 4: or like twelve hours. Ye, you should have just stayed
- 12:40Speaker 4: in New Orleans, dude, both times.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It was a good trip besides the travel issues.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Was Maine it was it was first off mains beautiful, Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It was it Portland or where was it?
- 12:53Speaker 4: No, it's Kiddery and then and then the wedding, so
- 12:55Speaker 4: it's like right across from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which is awesome.
- 13:01Speaker 4: It almost looks like a mini version of Boston's like
- 13:03Speaker 4: cobblestone streets, like really nice like brickstone downtown. But it
- 13:08Speaker 4: was seventy five degrees as the high all weekend.
- 13:12Speaker 3: That's pretty great.
- 13:12Speaker 4: It was awesome. Yeah, I mean it was. I almost
- 13:14Speaker 4: texted you about it because that's like, if there's one
- 13:15Speaker 4: thing I know about you is that you love like
- 13:17Speaker 4: when the weather's not like overly hot, and it's like,
- 13:20Speaker 4: he mean, yeah, I do too, And so it was
- 13:22Speaker 4: like I think it was like between fifty eight and
- 13:24Speaker 4: seventy five the whole time we were there, and then
- 13:27Speaker 4: we stayed in Boston for Sunday night, which was great.
- 13:30Speaker 4: The wedding was awesome. It was the finest collection of
- 13:32Speaker 4: Georgia college and state university baseball players you've ever.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Seen college and state Is that right?
- 13:37Speaker 4: Yeah? It is, but it was. It was a really
- 13:39Speaker 4: nice wedding. It was just out in the middle of nowhere.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Well, it's a low of seventy five in the studio today, dude.
- 13:43Speaker 4: It is, it says right now, excessive heat in Baton Rouge,
- 13:47Speaker 4: and that says one hour ago.
- 13:49Speaker 3: It sucks. Yeah, it's been miserable.
- 13:52Speaker 4: I heard it was. I got up to like one thirteen.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Feels like, just call that the temperature? What do we do?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Like?
- 13:57Speaker 4: I hate that so much, feels like it feels like
- 14:00Speaker 4: up what kind of live weather? It's just and we
- 14:02Speaker 4: on right now, you know what I mean.
- 14:05Speaker 2: We just talked about my feelings.
- 14:06Speaker 3: It's pretty normal.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I feel like it's one hundred and thirteen degrees.
- 14:11Speaker 4: You are like this, mister sun. It makes me feel
- 14:14Speaker 4: like I want to die.
- 14:15Speaker 5: We just talk about the weather's feelings right now. I
- 14:18Speaker 5: feel like this is what I really am. But I
- 14:20Speaker 5: feel like this. Yeah, it's been pretty miserable.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Just the weather lie at its temperature like I lie
- 14:25Speaker 4: about my weight. Just no, I'm no, not at all.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I swear I'm down ninety five.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I swear to God.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Sick. I swear to God. I can't go too.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Gross.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Well, It's just a good reminder to say hydrated out there.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, drink.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Have you ever been to drink my head dot com?
- 14:50Speaker 4: I do it actually twice a day. Okay, get up
- 14:52Speaker 4: your numbers.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Those numbers well, I mean when you drink as much
- 14:54Speaker 3: caffeine as you do to stay hydrate.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Yeah, you better. We're gonna ask talk about it. I'm
- 15:00Speaker 5: really actually looking forward to doc coming in and.
- 15:02Speaker 2: We're just gonna get him to just diagnose you.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I don't want him to look, We're not gonna we're
- 15:08Speaker 3: gonna talk.
- 15:08Speaker 2: About It's gonna be like those people that read auras
- 15:10Speaker 2: yeah and be.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Like, who's Chris the diabetic not diabetic? Oh, he's gonna
- 15:17Speaker 4: got news for you.
- 15:19Speaker 5: I'm just more worried about that. I'm not worried about it.
- 15:22Speaker 5: I just want to get his opinion on it.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Some people are just metabolizing at maybe maybe like three
- 15:31Speaker 5: regular milligrams.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It's like one for you.
- 15:33Speaker 4: I walk up the stairs so pretty much fixed.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You didn't John, you know, was the last time it
- 15:41Speaker 3: was the last time he took the elevator in this building.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I haven't been in this building in two weeks. That's okay,
- 15:48Speaker 4: so two weeks I guess, I don't know.
- 15:50Speaker 3: They took the Are you gonna take the elevator today? Yeah?
- 15:52Speaker 4: I got to go to four. So we're on three
- 15:55Speaker 4: currently on three. I'll probably go down to one just
- 16:00Speaker 4: for that and then go back for the sake of it.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I want to make sure it's going both ways. Okay,
- 16:04Speaker 4: So are we already over break?
- 16:05Speaker 3: You probably relax? Hey, I got this all right. We
- 16:09Speaker 3: do not stay on time on this show.
- 16:12Speaker 5: So if we actually I don't know if we have,
- 16:14Speaker 5: we ever broken at at thirteen or fourteen on the
- 16:16Speaker 5: first segment we.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Have before, Like I feel like sometimes I like get
- 16:21Speaker 2: a little passive aggressive about it and then Jake's like, okay,
- 16:24Speaker 2: let me do it for one day, then we can
- 16:28Speaker 2: go back to make it her angry.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Well, Okay, So look, we got a we got an

- 17:04Speaker 5: but want to get We got doctor Stephen Ethridge joining
- 17:09Speaker 5: the show a little bit later. I think we might
- 17:11Speaker 5: get a live Razor. We might get a razor, might
- 17:14Speaker 5: get at from this man.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Had a baby a week will they had a baby
- 17:20Speaker 2: a week ago?
- 17:21Speaker 4: Don't don't give him the car is itching to give
- 17:24Speaker 4: a take.
- 17:24Speaker 2: He was like, can I come on tomorrow? Is it
- 17:27Speaker 2: okay with y'all?
- 17:28Speaker 3: Please? I got something?
- 17:30Speaker 4: He was like, cowboys were hanging out the pu. If
- 17:33Speaker 4: he comes, if he calls to talk about Dallas com,
- 17:35Speaker 4: if he calls.
- 17:36Speaker 2: To tell us anything other than anything about Razor.
- 17:39Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah, So just get ready for that.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Spurping in the background.
- 17:52Speaker 3: We also got lawsuits. We got lawsuits happened.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Hell yeah, always always, at all.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Times, lawsuits be popping around here. So we gotta got
- 17:59Speaker 3: a lot to get in. Is to stick with us

- 18:22Speaker 5: you are calling the experts.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Maybe you're calling the team.

- 19:22Speaker 1: What tigers? Turn sockers up? This is off the bench?
- 19:27Speaker 4: What what up?
- 19:28Speaker 1: What up?

- 19:32Speaker 6: I walk around like I got that's so much nice?
- 19:36Speaker 6: They invest so much Chester, trying not to say nothing
- 19:38Speaker 6: to d A like war, I'm playing court. Put on
- 19:41Speaker 6: the damn like this is sport.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Turn on me?

- 19:46Speaker 3: You're getting money? I can't get nothing with you.
- 19:48Speaker 6: And yeah, I'm not the type to get knocked for
- 19:51Speaker 6: d double u.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I I'm gonna take that connects.
- 19:53Speaker 5: All right, welcome back here here gangs off the bench.
- 19:58Speaker 5: It is a Wednesday, So thank you for joining in.
- 20:03Speaker 5: Thank you for tuning in to us today again. Jacob
- 20:05Speaker 5: Hester out for the next uh, I don't know what
- 20:08Speaker 5: we say two and a half weeks. He might be
- 20:10Speaker 5: in next Friday, I believe after Saints camp, but he.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Will be out for a little bit.
- 20:15Speaker 5: We got Chris Marler joining as a co host, So Chris,
- 20:18Speaker 5: I think you we want to cordially invite you to
- 20:20Speaker 5: a potentially step in. Quite a few times while he's out.
- 20:23Speaker 4: I know.
- 20:24Speaker 5: We're also talking with mister Richard Dixon as well to
- 20:27Speaker 5: come in a little bit and we will see it
- 20:30Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Later in the show.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I think Tay Tay is going to be joining the
- 20:32Speaker 5: show to give us a Razor update. We'll see when
- 20:36Speaker 5: he's back as well. So I know it has been hard.
- 20:40Speaker 5: It's a tough time in Taylor's life right now with
- 20:43Speaker 5: all these NFL teams reporting for training camp, and he
- 20:47Speaker 5: can't let the people know what he thinks about it.
- 20:50Speaker 5: All right, So we'll get into a little bit of
- 20:52Speaker 5: NFL training camp news and just talk about NFL in
- 20:55Speaker 5: a little bit. But right now, I guess the big
- 20:58Speaker 5: news for LSU fans in the saga that continues from
- 21:03Speaker 5: the Lane Kiffen join in LSU back late last fall
- 21:07Speaker 5: early winter, we got a lawsuit alert. Yeah, let's go,
- 21:12Speaker 5: lots of lawsuits in college football. I think that's that's
- 21:15Speaker 5: kind of like the favorite Like this is in the
- 21:18Speaker 5: new world of n I L. In the new world
- 21:21Speaker 5: of college football in the year twenty twenty six, it
- 21:24Speaker 5: is attorney season all year long. Great graphic Ole Miss
- 21:30Speaker 5: is suing to LSU players, to new LSU players that
- 21:34Speaker 5: transferred from ole Miss. Prince will and Montoellen and Devin
- 21:38Speaker 5: Harper received a lawsuit from ole Miss because basically breach
- 21:42Speaker 5: a contract here, So they ole Miss. This was report
- 21:47Speaker 5: about on three yesterday first, I believe, and they used
- 21:51Speaker 5: a great picture of the mascot, the land shark.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Gary Busey teeth. That thing is terrifying.
- 21:57Speaker 3: And we were talking about at the break do they
- 21:59Speaker 3: still go by the land sharks? And we couldn't. We
- 22:02Speaker 3: couldn't give you a firm yes or no.
- 22:04Speaker 4: I think. I mean, there are the rebels, but I
- 22:07Speaker 4: know that Colonel reb Is he's long gone, which is
- 22:09Speaker 4: probably for the best for everyone.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Probably.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he passed away.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Uh yeah, in about like eighteen six.
- 22:14Speaker 3: What everybody does, everybody passes away.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, we're all going to die.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Quote of the week.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I watched the whole Cogan documentary We're All Gonna Die.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I learned it there first.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I had no idea until I watched that doc Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 5: So ole Miss release of statement Tuesday and suggested that
- 22:33Speaker 5: two former rebels who transferred LSU were responsible for the
- 22:37Speaker 5: UH responsible for the compensation of their revenor sharing agreements
- 22:41Speaker 5: that was signed in January before they both entered the
- 22:44Speaker 5: transferred portal and then of course a couple of days later,
- 22:47Speaker 5: I think one of them was like six days later,
- 22:49Speaker 5: Like yeah, there was like ten days later. Of course
- 22:51Speaker 5: they signed with LSU and the transfer portal. UH to
- 22:55Speaker 5: follow Lane Kiffin here at LSU, And I love some
- 22:59Speaker 5: of the quotes coming out. Quote the University of Mississippi
- 23:02Speaker 5: has a responsibility to enforce contractual terms, and this position
- 23:06Speaker 5: is consistent with the actions of other institutions in the
- 23:09Speaker 5: current landscape of college athletics. First of all, the compensation
- 23:18Speaker 5: that they're going after is pretty wild, and I think
- 23:22Speaker 5: it's so.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Big they did they signed, they sign their names to it.
- 23:26Speaker 5: They're going for five hundred and fifty thousand from Prince,
- 23:30Speaker 5: four hundred thousand from Devin Harbor, and plus attorney fees
- 23:34Speaker 5: as well. So I think that this is in most
- 23:38Speaker 5: of the contracts, just like a coach as a buy out,
- 23:40Speaker 5: just like the players do have. But I think this
- 23:43Speaker 5: is this is a little bit larger than I believe
- 23:46Speaker 5: I've heard about before, and I think the team that
- 23:49Speaker 5: has taken these players in usually pays this on the front.
- 23:52Speaker 4: I don't think it's ever happened, so I don't think
- 23:54Speaker 4: we know. Well, you're saying a part of their NIL
- 23:57Speaker 4: deals they were so they would inflate the numbers for
- 24:00Speaker 4: friends well and be like, hey, we're gonna pay you
- 24:01Speaker 4: one point five but five hundred thousand of that is
- 24:03Speaker 4: going towards this buyout.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Correct, that makes that's that's what I thought was gonna
- 24:07Speaker 4: happen to.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and it is.
- 24:09Speaker 5: I don't know, and I don't think really anybody's got
- 24:11Speaker 5: the exact feel of how these nil deals work and
- 24:13Speaker 5: how payment process works. So the timeline that so they
- 24:18Speaker 5: released the timeline almost release the timeline of everything happened.
- 24:20Speaker 5: And we'll start with Devin Harper here. January sixth, twenty
- 24:23Speaker 5: twenty six signed a revenue sharing agreement with every Day Okay,
- 24:28Speaker 5: all right. January fourteenth, he enters the transfer portal. January sixteenth,
- 24:33Speaker 5: signed a scholarship. So this is what happened between the
- 24:38Speaker 5: sixth and the sixteenth. I don't know if anybody really
- 24:41Speaker 5: knows how the payments. Let's just say he signed for
- 24:45Speaker 5: a million dollars.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Use it as a signing bonus that on July first
- 24:48Speaker 4: is when they get their twenty two point five million
- 24:50Speaker 4: for the rep share. Correct, and that's when they it's
- 24:52Speaker 4: like the start of the fiscal year for programs.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Yeah, and how I've seen it's like sometimes it's even
- 24:58Speaker 5: not into into pay. Sometimes it's like you get a
- 25:01Speaker 5: little bit here, a little bit there. So that's Devin
- 25:04Speaker 5: Harper's timeline. Did he even get paid four hundred thousand
- 25:06Speaker 5: dollars between that period of time?
- 25:08Speaker 4: That's a good question.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 25:11Speaker 5: The other question I have for on this is, let
- 25:15Speaker 5: me start with this. Yes, I believe in contracts. Yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 5: I believe if you sign something, you are that. That's
- 25:22Speaker 5: what it is now in sports contracts, you know, especially
- 25:26Speaker 5: in the football world. Now, in other sports, contracts are
- 25:28Speaker 5: guaranteed for a player, but in football, yeah, it's usually
- 25:33Speaker 5: the player bears most of the brunt of the contract
- 25:37Speaker 5: as far as responsibility.
- 25:38Speaker 3: A team can cut you at any point.
- 25:39Speaker 5: See, Yeah, that's why you negotiate, you know, guaranteed guaranteed
- 25:42Speaker 5: money and everything like that. And there's landscape of college
- 25:46Speaker 5: football that we're at right now, where there's everybody's making
- 25:49Speaker 5: up the rules. You have to have some sort of
- 25:51Speaker 5: law and order, and a contract is a pretty good
- 25:53Speaker 5: way of doing that. Now, is it enforcible?
- 25:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 25:58Speaker 5: I think that's going to be kind of a toss
- 25:59Speaker 5: up as far as who the judge is where it's.
- 26:05Speaker 3: But it does feel like how many times has this happened?
- 26:08Speaker 3: And why are they just now doing this? Obviously they're
- 26:11Speaker 3: being very petty.
- 26:12Speaker 4: I disagree now between these two. I am on LSU
- 26:18Speaker 4: side for sure, like in general, but just hear me
- 26:22Speaker 4: out and just in the most in the most blanket statement,
- 26:26Speaker 4: simple way I can put it. You spent fifty five
- 26:29Speaker 4: million dollars on Brian Kelly's buyout, whatever else you spent
- 26:33Speaker 4: on the coaches to leave. You spent ninety one million,
- 26:36Speaker 4: not all at once, on Lane Kiffen to come here.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You spent whatever else on his coaching staff and the
- 26:43Speaker 4: new coach you brought in. Then you spent roughly forty
- 26:46Speaker 4: three million dollars on the roster, which that is this year.
- 26:49Speaker 4: So you're talking about you're all in for about two
- 26:51Speaker 4: hundred million dollars on this overhaul. Hey, guys, just just
- 26:55Speaker 4: go ahead and pay it and let's all move on.
- 26:58Speaker 4: That's that's I mean. At this point, just like, all
- 27:01Speaker 4: I want is for there to be no more drama
- 27:04Speaker 4: between these two schools until September nineteenth or the week
- 27:07Speaker 4: of I'm so overhearing about this. It's just like every
- 27:10Speaker 4: single week. I think Ole Miss has every single right
- 27:12Speaker 4: to sue to get their money back to the players. Now,
- 27:15Speaker 4: the big question for me is are you going to
- 27:17Speaker 4: have Is it going to come out of the player's
- 27:18Speaker 4: contract or somebody else is gonna pay it. I don't
- 27:20Speaker 4: think that's a great way to show accountability and it
- 27:24Speaker 4: sets a precedent now or it's like like I think
- 27:27Speaker 4: there's gonna be schools like Texas Tech for sure, Oregon,
- 27:31Speaker 4: Texas Texta and then they're gonna say, hey, don't worry
- 27:33Speaker 4: about the contract that you have, will pay it. And
- 27:35Speaker 4: that might have been what happened here. And if that's
- 27:36Speaker 4: the case, fine, but just pay it. What are we doing?
- 27:39Speaker 5: Yeah, So that is my understanding that that is pretty
- 27:43Speaker 5: normal that the team that's taken you pays it. But
- 27:47Speaker 5: I think the amounts that we're talking about are way
- 27:50Speaker 5: like ten x times the normal amount for what do
- 27:54Speaker 5: they agree on?
- 27:55Speaker 4: Because that's where I think that's where you can get
- 27:57Speaker 4: into like the the end of the you know what's
- 27:59Speaker 4: the itty bitty The nitty gritty is that I'm looking
- 28:02Speaker 4: for I was gonna say nuts and bolts of the
- 28:06Speaker 4: itty bitty part of this. Listen, I don't want to
- 28:09Speaker 4: use too much legal uh jargon here, So the itty
- 28:13Speaker 4: bitty I think that when you like, if you're old miss,
- 28:17Speaker 4: you can hit her and say no, no, no. That
- 28:18Speaker 4: argument was we were going to pay you a lump
- 28:19Speaker 4: sum and then this amount later and then you can
- 28:23Speaker 4: kind of probably fudge those number in the back end
- 28:25Speaker 4: of whatever you were gonna pay. Because I again, all
- 28:28Speaker 4: of this is still we're in We're in year five.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I think of of the a il era and all
- 28:33Speaker 4: this is so new. There's this is the first time
- 28:36Speaker 4: I've heard of something like this where it's not the
- 28:38Speaker 4: first time it's happened.
- 28:39Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 28:39Speaker 4: But it's not like like this is the first time
- 28:41Speaker 4: I've heard of someone suing at I got a powerful,
- 28:43Speaker 4: big time level. Or maybe it's the first time I
- 28:45Speaker 4: hearing about the sec where it's out of this movie deal.
- 28:46Speaker 4: It's definitely the first time it's happened. I think that
- 28:49Speaker 4: the way this has been handled, though, it's kind of
- 28:51Speaker 4: like you wonder if it was just well just see
- 28:53Speaker 4: if they're gonna they're not Gonnaly gonna sue who cares,
- 28:55Speaker 4: We'll just wait.
- 28:56Speaker 3: We all and we have to assume that.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Okay, So so Prince will say, is a five hundred
- 29:01Speaker 5: and fifty thousand yeah, Devin Harper Forneder though, so we
- 29:05Speaker 5: have to assume that they were paid that money, right,
- 29:07Speaker 5: like if.
- 29:08Speaker 4: They have to give it back to them, that's also
- 29:10Speaker 4: a good point.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So we have to assume.
- 29:12Speaker 5: But it is my understanding and a lot of these
- 29:14Speaker 5: contracts that they're not getting that big chunk up front
- 29:17Speaker 5: when it doesn't make.
- 29:18Speaker 4: Sense like spread out like you know what I mean,
- 29:21Speaker 4: like if they were, because if you're talking about January sixth,
- 29:25Speaker 4: they are. They're still in the playoff I think at
- 29:27Speaker 4: that point, right, because they played in the Sugar Bowl
- 29:29Speaker 4: in January first. The portal opened on January second at
- 29:32Speaker 4: midnight or so I believe they played in the Sugar
- 29:36Speaker 4: Bowl in January first. I'm for sure because I was
- 29:38Speaker 4: there for that. And then the next day is when
- 29:40Speaker 4: that thing opened. It was on a Friday, So if
- 29:42Speaker 4: that's open for two weeks, the sixteenth I think was
- 29:44Speaker 4: like the last day before it closed because it was
- 29:46Speaker 4: only opened for fourteen days. So maybe that's why he
- 29:49Speaker 4: committed then I don't know. But either way, you're not
- 29:52Speaker 4: You're not re signing and then getting that money right
- 29:56Speaker 4: away during the current season, are you. I mean I don't,
- 29:59Speaker 4: that's I get.
- 29:59Speaker 5: I mean, it's usually spread out between two fiscal years.
- 30:03Speaker 5: But I did text with an attorney that works in
- 30:07Speaker 5: like in a lot of in an ile space last night.
- 30:09Speaker 5: I was texting with them a little bit about it,
- 30:11Speaker 5: just to be like, hey, what's enforceable here? Blah blah
- 30:13Speaker 5: Blah's like, well, technically, yeah, it's it is. It is
- 30:15Speaker 5: a contract, but but not knowing the ins and outs
- 30:18Speaker 5: of it, like most of the times the school that's
- 30:22Speaker 5: getting the.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Player pays that buyout, but like these are excessive, excessive.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Right, I mean two players for a million dollars.
- 30:28Speaker 5: So he said that like a judge or a court
- 30:30Speaker 5: like might say that a large biot clause like that
- 30:32Speaker 5: is not fair. You don't know what kind of representation
- 30:36Speaker 5: they're getting, is it that they represent?
- 30:38Speaker 4: Like, yeah, where would the court case be held? Because
- 30:41Speaker 4: we saw that with Trinidad. It was a huge deal
- 30:42Speaker 4: that the fact that was held in like small town Mississippi.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Part of me does want to see this play out as.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Like, what's the best, like a Southern court room. Yep,
- 30:55Speaker 2: it's like Mississippi versus Louis Downhill.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Mississippi.
- 31:00Speaker 2: You got somebody who sounds like Jeff Landry on Your.
- 31:02Speaker 4: World is your Bomb. And then and then it's just
- 31:06Speaker 4: Gordon coming in, Gordon mccartnin, got Spincher, McLaughlin, We've got
- 31:11Speaker 4: Gordon McCartney, We've got everybody. Everyone, Just bring them all
- 31:13Speaker 4: in there once you got a dream team.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Also, the coach might Coach Leavin might be a reason
- 31:21Speaker 5: to get out. Like from a cool standpoint, that's also true.
- 31:25Speaker 4: I do think it's it. There's part of it. It's
- 31:28Speaker 4: like just let it go from the olmost sandpoint and
- 31:30Speaker 4: like move on because I think for the most part
- 31:32Speaker 4: this off season, and people might not like hearing this,
- 31:35Speaker 4: but I think for the most part this off season,
- 31:38Speaker 4: Ole miss has not been the one instigating things, not
- 31:41Speaker 4: their fans. Their fans have for sure, but like, I
- 31:43Speaker 4: don't think they've been doing a lot of instigating during
- 31:46Speaker 4: the off season. This feels like you could let it go.
- 31:49Speaker 4: If y'all are as rich as.
- 31:50Speaker 5: You say you are now, if they paid them that
- 31:54Speaker 5: money and then they left a week later, Yeah, you
- 31:56Speaker 5: had to get that bad.
- 31:57Speaker 4: But I found it in my opinion, and I'm not
- 32:00Speaker 4: very smart. I have a hard time believing that in
- 32:04Speaker 4: a ten day window they paid them both a million dollars.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:08Speaker 5: I got a hard time believing that too, especially from
- 32:10Speaker 5: the payments in the contracts that I've seen for other
- 32:12Speaker 5: players right where it's like, okay, you get like one
- 32:14Speaker 5: hundred thousand now, right, three hundred and four months, another
- 32:18Speaker 5: three hundred and eight months, the next year will pay
- 32:21Speaker 5: the remainder or whatever I mean.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Now, principle, maybe that's different. I could, I could maybe
- 32:26Speaker 4: be talked into that one, because that's a top five
- 32:29Speaker 4: player in the portal his position. The slot value not
- 32:31Speaker 4: slot value, but the valuation for his position at that
- 32:36Speaker 4: level as a recruits probably around one point five to
- 32:38Speaker 4: two million, So maybe that's part of it.
- 32:40Speaker 5: It's still five hundred and fifty. I doubt he got
- 32:42Speaker 5: five hundred fifty thousand within that sixth day window or
- 32:45Speaker 5: whatever it is. And it's no accident that these lawsuits
- 32:48Speaker 5: came out on July twenty seventh, just a handful of
- 32:50Speaker 5: days before everybody's recording reporting for a training camp. So
- 32:55Speaker 5: they continue to be but hurt. They continue to tried
- 33:00Speaker 5: to be a little petty. And because of course this
- 33:03Speaker 5: has happened plenty of other times, and if this would
- 33:06Speaker 5: have happened to another school, this probably isn't such a
- 33:09Speaker 5: big deal.
- 33:10Speaker 3: But it is what it is, and we have to
- 33:13Speaker 3: deal with it.
- 33:13Speaker 5: There was a contract sign so on one hand, I'm like,
- 33:16Speaker 5: you know, the contracts a contract. But on the other hand,
- 33:18Speaker 5: it's like, well, I got to question everything. I got
- 33:20Speaker 5: a question the motives, the intentions. And also I don't
- 33:24Speaker 5: like you, old miss, so I'm on the side of
- 33:26Speaker 5: the LSU guys.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I mean, I just wanted to all be over. That's
- 33:29Speaker 4: that's my main thing. I I've said piece about the
- 33:33Speaker 4: old miss tag.
- 33:33Speaker 3: All Right, we're late, we gotta go to break. We
- 33:35Speaker 3: will come back.
- 33:35Speaker 5: We'll keep talking about this, We'll talk about NFL. We
- 33:37Speaker 5: got a great show for you today, right here and
- 33:39Speaker 5: off the bench, off the bench.
- 33:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 33:43Speaker 5: It is cannonball season. Like I'm sure you're a big
- 33:48Speaker 5: can opener type of guy.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I know you are.
- 33:51Speaker 5: It's pool season and Russell Pools Russell Pools dot Com
- 33:54Speaker 5: is Louisiana's leader in custom pools, and we're talking turning
- 33:58Speaker 5: your dream into a reality. From start to finish. They've
- 34:01Speaker 5: got two landscape architects on staff over there, so they
- 34:04Speaker 5: can take your dream to reality. You see pools, whether
- 34:08Speaker 5: you're scrolling on Instagram or whatever, you're like, man, I
- 34:10Speaker 5: really want that, but I don't really know what I like.
- 34:12Speaker 5: I don't know the details about it. We've talked to them.
- 34:14Speaker 5: They will walk you through the entire project. We've started
- 34:16Speaker 5: our process with Russell Pools and it's like Lacy and
- 34:19Speaker 5: now we're talking to their team over there, just saying like,
- 34:21Speaker 5: this is kind of what we're feeling. They talk, they
- 34:24Speaker 5: just ask you questions, and all of a sudden, a
- 34:25Speaker 5: couple of weeks later, they gave us this drawing. We
- 34:27Speaker 5: were like, yes, this is exactly what we're thinking. That's
- 34:30Speaker 5: exactly what we want. They also do pull renovations, and
- 34:32Speaker 5: not every company could just go and renovate a pool.
- 34:34Speaker 5: They can extend it. If you buy a house with
- 34:36Speaker 5: a pool there, they can make it like news. So
- 34:39Speaker 5: go check them out over there. They are the experts.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Russell Pools, Russellpools dot Com.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Hush Hush.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Two thousand and seven, Champs Purple and Gold to the core.
- 34:56Speaker 1: This is off the bench with Hester and Flynn and
- 35:00Speaker 1: Rouges go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 35:12Speaker 5: From the game, she was singing, all right, welcome back
- 35:21Speaker 5: here off the bench from the Raising Cane studio. We
- 35:28Speaker 5: were just kind of chopping it up last segment about
- 35:30Speaker 5: this sweetness, Like, if you want to hear about good
- 35:33Speaker 5: law stuff, good lawsuits, legal legal jargon, legal interpretations, off
- 35:40Speaker 5: the bench is pretty much your best place to go
- 35:42Speaker 5: for that.
- 35:44Speaker 2: We're basically on law.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, did.
- 35:48Speaker 3: You say we're aticus Finch?
- 35:50Speaker 4: Basically that's a really good reference.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Okay, he's out the door.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Also, I was kind of thinking, like, you know, oh,
- 36:00Speaker 5: miss yeah, you're kind of telling us you're just not
- 36:05Speaker 5: over You're not over it. You're not over Lane, like
- 36:07Speaker 5: you keep telling us, like you're you're you've moved on
- 36:10Speaker 5: to your new relationship.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Do it sooner?
- 36:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you've moved on to your new relationship, right, you're
- 36:15Speaker 5: very happy with your current standing. You're in love again, Yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 5: but you're also still kind of in love yeah, with
- 36:22Speaker 5: Lane a little bit because they're acting out or jaded.
- 36:24Speaker 3: They're a little bit jaded.
- 36:27Speaker 5: They're saying they're over them, but they're certainly not acting
- 36:30Speaker 5: like it.
- 36:31Speaker 4: So me and you were talking about this. I think
- 36:32Speaker 4: in Tampa Golden I thought Golding was awesome at the pods,
- 36:36Speaker 4: and like, that's who he is going to be. I
- 36:39Speaker 4: am fully buying into Ole Miss being really good, top half,
- 36:44Speaker 4: top maybe top five in the conference while he's there,
- 36:48Speaker 4: because I think he might be a better CEO and
- 36:49Speaker 4: better head coach than coordinator, mainly because I don't think
- 36:52Speaker 4: he was a great coordinator. I think he was an
- 36:53Speaker 4: okay coordinator or like an above average coordinator, but I
- 36:56Speaker 4: don't think he was a great coordinator by any means.
- 36:58Speaker 4: I think he got a lot of help from saving
- 37:00Speaker 4: and there's plenty of times over the past couple of
- 37:02Speaker 4: years that he has done some inexplicable crap that has
- 37:06Speaker 4: cost Alabama and Old Miss games. Okay, but he brought
- 37:11Speaker 4: up in his in his like time at the podium,
- 37:13Speaker 4: He's like, I mean, we all have exes and you
- 37:15Speaker 4: know you still think about him or whatever. We're like, no, no,
- 37:18Speaker 4: that you have a wife to go ho TOI brother,
- 37:20Speaker 4: what are you talking about?
- 37:21Speaker 5: Yeah, he had he had a good point that he
- 37:23Speaker 5: was like trying to make point. He didn't state it
- 37:28Speaker 5: perfectly to not get himself in trouble gear.
- 37:31Speaker 4: You know what I'm talking about.
- 37:32Speaker 3: He's like, no, No, we all still love We call them,
- 37:36Speaker 3: we text.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Them, talk to him on Snapchat. Know what I'm talking about?
- 37:40Speaker 4: Any Me and Tony Romo were out there the other day.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Yeah, the way he said it, like he was trying
- 37:48Speaker 5: to make this good point, and I think everybody understood
- 37:50Speaker 5: the points. No one really questioned it, but yeah, he
- 37:52Speaker 5: could have said it up a little bit better. But
- 37:54Speaker 5: ole Miss is basically telling us they they got drunk
- 37:58Speaker 5: and follow the lawsuit much.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Do you want to drunk? Dialarr x you No, let's drunk,
- 38:03Speaker 4: let's drunk. Sure, I do think. Also, what was so
- 38:07Speaker 4: funny about him saying that was I didn't really pick
- 38:09Speaker 4: up on it at first, and then every single not
- 38:12Speaker 4: every single, but like most of the women that I follow,
- 38:15Speaker 4: like like I'm friends with like sec Twitter wise, they
- 38:18Speaker 4: were all immediately talking about it, like immediately talking about it. Oh,
- 38:22Speaker 4: that is a good point. He should not have said that.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Yeah, And I understand a lot of people in the chat,
- 38:27Speaker 5: and I think a lot of people talking about this
- 38:29Speaker 5: are like like, there's no, it's it's I mean, it's
- 38:32Speaker 5: kind of what you think it is. You know, I
- 38:34Speaker 5: think a lot of LSU fans out there are you know,
- 38:38Speaker 5: mad at old Miss for it, blah blah blah. The
- 38:40Speaker 5: other other half, I think there's a lot of people
- 38:42Speaker 5: that are like, well, go on tracks a contract? Yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 5: which is I think both is fair. It was it's
- 38:48Speaker 5: a very kind of a petty move, but also it's
- 38:50Speaker 5: there's probably a lot of lawsuits that nobody hears about.
- 38:53Speaker 5: But because it is yea LSU and Ole Miss, they
- 38:56Speaker 5: all Miss decided to make this big scene, like this
- 38:58Speaker 5: announcement and here's the timeline, but like, who does that? Like,
- 39:01Speaker 5: just y'll handle your business. That's between the adults. You'll
- 39:05Speaker 5: handle it okay, right or wrong. Public probably never usually
- 39:10Speaker 5: hears about stuff like that.
- 39:11Speaker 4: That's a really good point. That's something we probably should
- 39:14Speaker 4: talk about in the last previous twelve minutes because that's
- 39:15Speaker 4: that's probably be the best point that I mean, because
- 39:19Speaker 4: like that that also like that if you're doing that,
- 39:22Speaker 4: you're just trying to make sure that everyone knows you're right.
- 39:25Speaker 4: And I get that. I do that on Twitter all
- 39:27Speaker 4: the time, right, but like you're I'm not Keith.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Carter, What was the what day did the portal open?
- 39:34Speaker 5: January second, January second, So well, when't listen to some
- 39:39Speaker 5: of it.
- 39:40Speaker 4: It was at midnight after the Sugar Bowl, and I
- 39:44Speaker 4: know that was we were down there, and there's a
- 39:45Speaker 4: couple of people in the LSU media that were that
- 39:47Speaker 4: were going specifically to ask the old miss players after
- 39:51Speaker 4: they lost if they were planning on transferring, and then
- 39:54Speaker 4: all miss one.
- 39:54Speaker 5: So there's a lot of good in an il, but
- 39:58Speaker 5: there's a lot of bad, right, And we hear about both.
- 40:00Speaker 5: We hear a lot more about the bad than the good.
- 40:02Speaker 3: But this is one of it. And I don't know
- 40:04Speaker 3: whose representation for these these two young men, I have
- 40:08Speaker 3: no idea. So this is not pointed at them.
- 40:10Speaker 5: This is pointed at the whole the whole system right now,
- 40:13Speaker 5: the big one of the big pitfalls to all this stuff.
- 40:16Speaker 5: There is a lot of athletes out there. There is
- 40:19Speaker 5: not enough quality representation or agents that do this stuff.
- 40:22Speaker 5: If the portal opened on January second, and these kids,
- 40:27Speaker 5: despite laying already leaving, they had representation that recommended that
- 40:32Speaker 5: it was a good idea four days after the portal
- 40:35Speaker 5: to open to sign a contract that had a buyout
- 40:39Speaker 5: of a half a million dollars, Like, what are we
- 40:42Speaker 5: thinking right here, how do you tell your client that
- 40:45Speaker 5: that's a good idea when if there's even a one
- 40:48Speaker 5: percent chance that you're going to go to that because.
- 40:50Speaker 3: There's no rules.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I mean, I think, I think, honestly, if you are
- 40:53Speaker 4: a if you're an agent in this landscape, dude, keep
- 40:57Speaker 4: in mind, you remember when this when this started, twenty
- 41:00Speaker 4: twenty two was the first year of an IL. The
- 41:03Speaker 4: very first year of an IL was twenty twenty two.
- 41:05Speaker 4: I believe it started on July first, and like at midnight,
- 41:08Speaker 4: bo Nicks like tweeted out a picture of him with
- 41:12Speaker 4: like Milo's T and that was like, that was his
- 41:15Speaker 4: NIL deal, Milo's T. The biggest contract that anybody who's
- 41:19Speaker 4: talking about was Dearic King, the quarterback at Miami, who
- 41:22Speaker 4: signed a twenty thousand dollars in IL deal with College
- 41:25Speaker 4: Hunk Movers, like the seventh best moving company in America.
- 41:30Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, it's me. But now you think about
- 41:33Speaker 4: how much it's escalated in such a short period of time,
- 41:37Speaker 4: and so I think it's completely lawless. It's the wild,
- 41:40Speaker 4: wild West. But I think that the conversation that in
- 41:44Speaker 4: my mind it probably went something like this, hey, dude,
- 41:46Speaker 4: sign it it doesn't matter. We'll figure it out later.
- 41:48Speaker 4: And also we'll just make sure the other team pays
- 41:50Speaker 4: even more for it, and like, if you want one
- 41:52Speaker 4: point five, then we'll make sure it's worth two and
- 41:53Speaker 4: then we'll.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Go from there.
- 41:55Speaker 4: I mean, I don't think anybody who was selling the player, Hey,
- 41:57Speaker 4: this might come back to haunt you.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yep. All right, we're gonna go to break and when
- 42:02Speaker 3: we come back, we're gonna close out our number one,
- 42:04Speaker 3: and we're gonna finish talking about this, and then after
- 42:06Speaker 3: that we're gonna put the lawsuits away.
- 42:08Speaker 5: And we know that, Yeah, that's true. We're gonna close
- 42:10Speaker 5: out our number one. I do know that sort of fact,
- 42:13Speaker 5: and that at the beginning our number two we got
- 42:14Speaker 5: doctor Stephen Ethards joining the show. So stick with us
- 42:17Speaker 5: right here and off the.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Bench, after bench.
- 42:19Speaker 3: All right, you need some plumbing done?
- 42:22Speaker 5: No, okay, good, Well if you do, if anybody does well,
- 42:25Speaker 5: Central Plumbing is your call. Central old Plumbing, Central Plumbing
- 42:29Speaker 5: died or They've been the plumbing experts in well in
- 42:31Speaker 5: Baton Rouge for a long long time, but now in
- 42:34Speaker 5: Baton Rouge and a laugh yet with new offices over there.
- 42:37Speaker 5: So they have brought their expertise across the basin. So
- 42:41Speaker 5: whether it is commercial plumbing, whether it's residential plumbing, it
- 42:44Speaker 5: doesn't really matter what you need because they are the
- 42:45Speaker 5: experts in all of it. And I could tell you
- 42:47Speaker 5: from experience. Central Plumbing has been great to work with.
- 42:51Speaker 5: When we started our company many many years ago, we
- 42:55Speaker 5: took an old warehouse, an old dusty warehouse with four
- 42:58Speaker 5: walls and a roof, and we turned it into a
- 43:00Speaker 5: full blown food and beverage manufacturer facility with the help
- 43:03Speaker 5: of Central Plumbing for talking water pressure, water lines, gas lines,
- 43:07Speaker 5: boiler systems, everything they can do it all. There's nothing
- 43:10Speaker 5: too big, there's nothing too small that they can hit on.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Also twenty four to seven emergency services in Baton, Yes,
- 43:15Speaker 5: in La fiat. If something goes wrong, it doesn't matter.
- 43:16Speaker 5: When it doesn't matter where they can help you out.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Central Plumbing Dot.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Org from the locker room to the airwaves gets off
- 43:25Speaker 1: the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 43:31Speaker 5: All right, welcome back here off the bench, closing out
- 43:33Speaker 5: our number one line from the Raisin Knees studio. We
- 43:35Speaker 5: got Chris Marler co hosting today and we're just gonna
- 43:39Speaker 5: finish kind of talking about this this whole old miss
- 43:43Speaker 5: LSU legal situation, and last segment I kind of questioned, like,
- 43:48Speaker 5: what kind of agent representation for those players?
- 43:51Speaker 3: What kind of idiot was like said, Okay, it's a
- 43:53Speaker 3: good idea.
- 43:54Speaker 5: To sign a contract with the five hundred and half
- 43:56Speaker 5: a million dollar buyout four days after the portals and
- 44:00Speaker 5: your coach has already gone like, if there's a chance
- 44:03Speaker 5: that you're going to transfer, don't sign that contract. It's
- 44:07Speaker 5: it's dumb, Like objectively, it's it's it's dumb. It doesn't
- 44:11Speaker 5: make any sense, especially because they decided to go to
- 44:15Speaker 5: LSU like a week later, So just don't sign it.
- 44:18Speaker 5: So that is the problem with the world of college
- 44:23Speaker 5: athletics right now.
- 44:24Speaker 4: There's a lot also, hold on, it's even dumber when
- 44:27Speaker 4: you consider they are They're not just like trying to
- 44:30Speaker 4: weigh their options of where to go next. They're in
- 44:33Speaker 4: the middle of a playoff run right going into the
- 44:35Speaker 4: semi finals to potentially go play for a national championship game.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Like all the distractions imaginable are in place. They're like,
- 44:42Speaker 4: sign this contract.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a good one here, just like you
- 44:45Speaker 3: don't even need to read it. I've looked.
- 44:49Speaker 5: So there is there's a lack of good representation in
- 44:52Speaker 5: college athletics. Like in the NFL, there's a system, there's
- 44:54Speaker 5: a there's a players Association that ve's all agents and
- 44:58Speaker 5: financial advisors and agents as well. You have good people
- 45:00Speaker 5: that are vetted. In college, they don't have that, so
- 45:03Speaker 5: it's whoever it is. It might be an uncle, and
- 45:06Speaker 5: a lot of people do have good representation. There's a
- 45:08Speaker 5: lot of NFL good agencies that are representing college, a
- 45:10Speaker 5: lot of a lot of the big but it's most
- 45:12Speaker 5: of the big time guys, so you don't know who's
- 45:14Speaker 5: making these decisions and.
- 45:15Speaker 3: A lot of it.
- 45:16Speaker 5: They all their fees as well, are allocated to nil.
- 45:20Speaker 5: So in NFL contract it's a maximum three percent for
- 45:24Speaker 5: your agent. Okay, so the agent gets three percent on
- 45:28Speaker 5: your contract. Now, marketing he can get anywhere between ten
- 45:31Speaker 5: and thirty percent. So in college everything is funneled into marketing,
- 45:37Speaker 5: right because it's nil marketing. So these agents, now some
- 45:41Speaker 5: are doing it the right way, but some are like, yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 5: we'll take twenty percent of all this, thirty percent of
- 45:45Speaker 5: all day like yes, sign it, blah blah blah. So
- 45:47Speaker 5: what the agent got to pay this money back?
- 45:49Speaker 1: Too.
- 45:49Speaker 3: I don't know, I doubt it.
- 45:51Speaker 4: What's crazy too is that we did this so they
- 45:53Speaker 4: can figure out a way to not be so predatory,
- 45:54Speaker 4: and we went right back into it being predatory for
- 45:56Speaker 4: the player.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Yeah, we got to protect these players and make sure
- 45:59Speaker 5: they have good representation. And all right, we're closed out.
- 46:00Speaker 5: Our number one will come back with doctor Steven etheris
