- 0:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we all dogs, welcome to the dogs podcast with your hopes, Blake Renaker, Justin Charles, Kenny Mack, and John Shaw.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, what's up, Browns fans.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to another episode of The Dogs Podcast.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: Josh, all, and I've got Kenny Mac with me this morning.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_05]: Let's go, baby.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_05]: Woo, woo, woo, woo.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: We are rocking and rolling here on a Monday morning.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: I hope everybody had a great weekend.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: And your weeks has started off very well.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: What a wrap up to the weekend for the Cleveland Freaking Cavaliers shout out to the calves.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: Taking game seven, not just a little bit, not just edging out
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: up and Detroit.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: Holy crap, Kenny.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_05]: I, I can't believe it.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if it's these 25 buses that we sent down there with all these fans, but I was expecting a dog fight and maybe the calves winning.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_05]: But like 125 to 94, I would have not expected that blow out, especially with the defense that the pistons can do.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_05]: I will tell you one thing, when we get in the discord, we all watch this kind of together.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't watch as many Cavs games as you guys do.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_05]: So I just don't have the connection to it up where I am.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_05]: But every time I watch the game, I go, when are these guys going to freaking rebound?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_05]: When are they going to rebound?
- 1:49[SPEAKER_05]: And man, it's like they actually heard me.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_05]: Like I can't believe it's probably the best rebounding game.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_05]: Like their domination in the paint, just between Alan and Mobley, that I've seen in like two, three years.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_05]: It was unreal.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_05]: It was true that if they can carry that through the playoffs, man.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: I said, the physicality in the intensity, if that's like a hundred percent, 80 percent of that will win you most games, more times than not.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: That was in, and, you know, the thing with the calves that I've been, everybody's been talking about during the playoffs, it's been, like you said, poor rebounding, they're kind of soft at times, and the turnovers.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: They just commit these stupid turnovers.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you guys just shoot yourselves in the foot.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: all the time.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: And last night, there were force in the turnovers.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're taken it to the pistons.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: They're, you know, punching the ball out and intercepting passes and re-bounding offensive boards.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: It was, I mean, you talk about bouncing back in a major way after getting blown out at home by 21 in game six, a game that you could have clinched at home.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: You got embarrassed.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: and you came in to their building, and won up them, 31 point blowout, choose what a freaking game.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_05]: Dude, yeah, I still can't believe sitting there watching the second quarter.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, calves are up by 20.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm like, what is going on here?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: I know, and we're up by 20, and I kept thinking, okay, when's the other shoe going to drop?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: When are they going to mount their comeback?
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: When are we going to start screwing up?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a lot of times when you're watching postseason games and things like that, there's a turning point for teams.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: There's a, I'm certain.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: I defining moment, defining game.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: I hope that was it for the cabs because if they can bring that sort of intensity, the rest of the, you know, play on here, sky's the limit, man, they could, they could do something.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: So yep.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's just a great way to start off the week with a big game seven win.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's six game sevens in a row that their calves have one dating back to 2016 when they came back against the Golden State Warriors to win the championship.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I saw another stat.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's the first Eastern Conference final appearance for the Cleveland Browns since 1992 that did not involve LeBron James.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was Mark Price in the Boys.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_05]: Wow, back in the day.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, hats off to the Cavaliers, excellent excellent game last night.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: I could not be more proud, more happy with what I saw out of that game, man.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: That was awesome.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, unreal.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: Congrats, Cavs.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Today, can you and I really just want to talk about everything around the Browns, this offseason, this offseason program, we're going to talk about the OTAs coming up, give you guys the dates and what the schedule looks like, can he's going to do his thing, we talk about this every year, can he likes to enlighten everybody else to what are OTAs, what do you allow to do, what do you not allow to do just so you guys understand when you see this stuff floating around the headlines, the news.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: what OTA is actually consist of.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about this 120 day reset that the Browns have, they're out of that now, right, Kenny.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they're out of that right now.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: That was through the draft.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we're going to recap what that 120 day reset looked like in the beginning, what the Browns said they were going to do and what they did do and how it's looking moving forward.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then we've got a voice mount to play at the end.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about some
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: just have a little bit of fun here this morning to kick off the week for everybody.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: So can he mentioned about watching the Cavs games in the discord with everybody.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys want to hang out with the best Cleveland fans in the world on the net.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: going to join the dogs dot com get into the discord to great place to be awesome die hard browns fans and they're just Cleveland fans in general it's a great place great time and like I keep reminding everybody fantasy football synems will start on June 1 so we're getting closer and closer every day to that date now the drafts will be at the end of August but if you want to get in reserve your spot in one of our dog pack leagues for this year.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: get in now, get in early, hang out with everybody, get to know people, and get those rivalries brew.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what's awesome with the fancy football leagues because
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: We get people from all different experience levels, can you know that we got people that are like, hey, I've never played before.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to see what Facebook was all about.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're welcome, get in here.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: Hang out.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great place to learn.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: We got people that have been playing for decades.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just fun.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_05]: You can go like Mama Tendo and draft all Browns players for you very first whenever.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_05]: And then she learned and did she win or almost win?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'd have to go back and talk to her.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember if she won the next year.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: If she made it to the championship.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: but yeah it's a great point we did have somebody it was her first year ever playing fantasy and she didn't know what she was doing in the draft round one i think she took David and joku round two she took dpj because she was just taking brownsplay yeah yeah absolutely again that season didn't go very well for her no no but she learned hey that didn't learn right so that's the main thing so guys get in there but participate participate get in the conversations don't be shy
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's an awesome place.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: So that's join the dogs dot com.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: Before we dive into this stuff with the Browns and everything, the big thing over the weekend, at least on social media, if you were on X, who is that a dangerous place to be sometimes?
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no doubt.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to Garrett Bush, well, I don't know how some people like Garrett Bush, some people hate him.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever, you know, he had Deon Sanders,
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: as a guest on his show, the barber shop over the weekend.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's a huge get first of all.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I just, to get a Hall of Fame player take D on Sanders name out of the conversation just for a second, just say, I had a Hall of Fame football player on my show.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big deal.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's a big deal for Garrett Bush.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: I remember we had Eddie George on our show one time.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: We got to interview Eddie George, that was.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: like for me that was insane because first of all former Ohio State Buckeye and Eddie George when I was a kid he's the one like he's the player that got me so interested in the NFL to begin with when I was young was Eddie Freak and George and then to sit down at the table and interview him and talk to him was just insane so oh yeah it's a huge gift for Garrett Bush to have prime time on his uh on his show there
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: But obviously they're talking about the Browns and Shador Sanders and all this stuff and Dianne made mentioned that he was going to come to Cleveland to meet with Todd Munkin which
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, can he talk to me, man, because to me, like, I didn't feel like that was really a big deal.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I can explain why, but a lot of people have a big issue with this.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's polarizing just because it's deal on Sanders number one.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_05]: The other thing is, he's got a weird dynamic, obviously.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_05]: He was his coach and he is his dad.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_05]: So, if you hear Todd Munkin talk, I mean, a lot of times when he's,
- 8:50[SPEAKER_05]: you know reviewing players to possibly draft he has talked to the coaches he's got connections in the NCAA because of his time with Georgia and so that seems like that's something that you would do you know based on being a coach is reach out to the other the coach of the in the NCAA course right and but I don't think
- 9:15[SPEAKER_05]: NFL coaches make it standard practice though to reach out to parents, right?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_05]: So I think that's where it's almost like a conflict of interest thing, almost with the Browns, is what I think.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_05]: I think Todd Monkins needs a chance just to look at Chador and what he can do and not get a biased opinion from the father, which is I think maybe the way they may go, right?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_05]: Because it's not like Todd Monkins struggled to make a quarterback successful.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_05]: He's maybe not been on some teams that were great, and maybe the defense let them down or end the game situations let them down.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_05]: But if you take a look last year when Shador played, it was inconsistent online, it was injuries, protection issues, maybe him adapting to NFL speed, but he just was not put in a good situation.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like, look at the situation that Justin Herbert was in.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_05]: you know, way better receivers, way better plan, you know what I mean?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_05]: And he actually didn't start with the best coach out there that he has now, but he was just in a way way better a fit.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_05]: So it kind of looks a little bit like a helicopter parent to me at this point, because I think
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I hear what you're saying, and I mean, I get it, I get if people are looking at it from that point of view, like the whole helicopter dead thing, okay, fine, whatever.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, you said Todd Monk can figure it out, you know, before he has to get some bias from the onset of the Browns and Kevin's to Fansky and Andrew Barry not meet with Dion Sanders about Shador before the draft last year.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: They would have had to, I saw that.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: They would have called it out as pro-day.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: They wouldn't have to dinner with him like, so to Dionne not put his, have his two cents about Shador with the Browns and that coaching staff?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: So it's really no different to me.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: And the other thing for me is, Dionne doesn't come to Cleveland to meet with Todd Monk and if Todd Monk and doesn't want to meet with Dionne Sanders.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: So clearly Todd Munkin has said, yeah, I won his input.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I want to talk to him.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody keeps telling me, we got a trust Todd Munkin.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: Really, trust him.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Munkin knows what he's doing.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to do it's best for the team.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to put the best players on the field.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yadiyada, yadiyada.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: Until he meets with Deon Sanders, then it's like, no, don't trust him anymore.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_05]: We, and they would have had the meat when he did his little recruiting thing as little recruiting in the Georgia.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_05]: So they know what they're talking about.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's it's deon Sanders is polarizing is something to talk about in between the rookie can't being done and then I was starting OTAs that's what it is.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's, I mean, that's probably the baseline of it all.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, the whole thing to me, like I said at the beginning of this conversation, just I didn't see it as like a big deal, because again, and you've said it plenty of times, Todd Munkin, it's not like the first time he's, I'm sure he's ever talked to Deons Anderson, I'm sure he's met him before, I'm sure he's had a conversation or at least it's changed, you know, whatever with him before.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: And guys reach out to college coaches all the time, you know.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see the issue with getting more help at the quarterback position.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: If Deon Sanders has any sort of insight that can help develop that position, a player at that position and Todd Munkin wants that insight and he's willing to hear what he has to say.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Who are we to turn our noses up at that?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: We've had 42 freaking quarterbacks since 1999.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, absolutely and I like I mean I'm saying he is a helicopter parent.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_05]: There's no doubt about it, but I'm not I'm not gonna like go to bed angry about this or anything like I'm not giving it a second thought, but if someone's gonna ask me I'm gonna say that.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_05]: I mean maybe he just wants to meet Monkin as a subtle jab to Stephansky because clearly Stephansky wanted Dylan Gabriel right and then you know the rest of the Browns wanted
- 13:22[SPEAKER_05]: Should or so maybe something along like that one too.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and again, I think a lot of this is through the media being framed as Deon wants to meet Monk and and he said he does he said he's excited to meet him.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: But how do we know it wasn't Monk and who reached out to Deon said, hey, would you like to come?
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: have a conversation, you know, so I just, I think everybody's blown a little bit out of proportion, like you said it's polarizing because of who it is.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: If it was just, you know, some other college coach from, you know, who cares university, we wouldn't even know.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like we wouldn't even know that they had a conversation or that they reached out and he came to clean.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like we would have no idea.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: It wouldn't be in the news.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's the one.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_05]: Do you think anybody is going to tell us if they reached out to Pat Schermer?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_05]: His offensive coordinator from two years ago, who was a Cleveland coach.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_05]: I can't remember who his offensive coordinator was last year of university, but they probably reached out to him.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_05]: Like there's a ton of guys that reach out.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's Dion and it's polarizing and it's getting clicks.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_05]: And we both clicked on it to find out information.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_05]: So we could talk about it now.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_05]: So they're winning.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: They're winning their clicks.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's absolutely right.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: Was there not reports or speculation that Todd Munkin had some sort of relationship with Tyson's father?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: I dropped it.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_05]: Man, I thought about that yesterday.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_05]: Did not put it down.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad you you brought it up.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, he praised his dad.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously clearly had a relationship with the parents, which he generally don't want to do as an NFL coach.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_05]: You know, but that does happen too.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, and just speaking as a college coach in general, like when you go recruit a kid to come to your school, you're going to meet the family, you're going to meet the parents.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just, I don't know.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's a little bit crazy how blown out of proportion this stuff gets.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: But everybody pre-draft was saying what?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: D on Sanders is going to control where Shador goes.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to dictate this, dictate that.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, the only time that's really happened that I can remember was the manning family, right?
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: Tating where Eli, he got drafted by the chargers and they forced them to trade him immediately after drafting him.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 15:38[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I think Angel from the bearded podcast put out there that they were going to trade on the Cleveland.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_05]: You see that?
- 15:45[SPEAKER_05]: No, I didn't see that.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_05]: They threatened the trade on the Cleveland.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_05]: And you didn't want to go with their either.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_05]: But I can't remember where he said that.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_05]: It was on a podcast and it forgives me.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_05]: But I just read it quickly, but yeah, that's out there as well.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so, look, NFL bloodlines, you know, it's different, because I saw somebody posted on X and they said, well, it's Todd Monk and gonna meet with Taylor and Green's dad.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, it's not the same situation.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot do this like it's Apple's Apple's.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: This is Deon Sanders.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: He is a four, he is an NFL Hall of Fame player.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: It is a different, it's NFL bloodlines.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like with the Manning family or any of these other families that have generations of,
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, men playing in the NFL.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it is just different.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: NFL bloodlines.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: For some reason, it's okay to have NFL bloodlines.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: If your name is a certain name and it's not okay if your name's another name.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: Social media, you guys are freaking insane.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody who's watching this podcast, let me know in the comments.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: Big deal, not big deal with the Dion, Monkin thing again, the way I see it, if Monkin wants to meet with him,
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: Who are we to judge it if we trust him if we trust Todd Munkin like we say we do you know Let's just see all plays out again Too crazy The best thing that could happen for the Browns is should door being becomes the guy because you get a you get a quarterback on a fifth-brown Contract
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: And you no longer have to worry about well, how are we going to position ourselves to get a the next rookie quarterback and then give him time to learn and grow and develop and by the time that's all said and done miles won't be here.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Denzel won't be here.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: The guys we just drafted in the last two years.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be looking for their second contract.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: We can't afford to sign them all, you know, so it.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: You want to you want to you want to quarterback to work out now.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you guys.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's not the Sean is not the Sean Watson.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Kenny here.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's not.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think most people watch in this show listening to us agree.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: And if you guys think it's the Sean, tell us why because I just haven't there's nothing on film or analytically that says, especially coming off the two Achilles tears.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's not talked about enough.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: because performance, go look it up, performance for players coming off of killings tears, while the recovery process, the surgery, the medical smell, that stuff has gotten more advanced in recent years and you can mount a quicker comeback after a killings tear used to be just a career ending injury for most people.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that anymore.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: But you don't come back the same.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: It definitely not right away, not the first season back on the field.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: So all of these people that think he's going to just all of a sudden be Houston Texans to Sean Watson.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, he wasn't even Houston to Texans to Sean Watson when he was five years younger and healthy.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_05]: No, and I can't.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_05]: I can't really find a good example of any player coming back after three years of just or what it was at four years of 19 games like the only guy I could think of is Kurt Warner where he kind of had that stint with the giants and then he went back to his all-pro form when he went back when he went to the Cardinals.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_05]: You know, that's the only thing I could find.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_05]: I know with the Browns, I mean, we had Vince Young and Camp.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_05]: I totally forgot about that.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: I did too.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: I see that somewhere.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh yeah.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_05]: And that's something that we tried to get going, and it just didn't materialize, just gone out of the game to too much, and it's, I just don't see it happening.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it creates your things have happened in the world, but just to Sean Watson and his time here isn't good for the fans, based on optics, and I just, that's just something again, to talk about very polarizing.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I was doing some reading up on, excuse me, these are these Achilles tears specifically for quarterbacks.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: And what I was reading is it makes a difference which one it was.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Was it your left or your right?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because if it's your plant leg, which for to shine, it would be because it was his right leg.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: So that would be the one you, you drop back and plant on.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's more difficult.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: That is more difficult than you're, then you're, then you're, I forget what they call it.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: You're throwing leg or you're, you're step forward
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: And for pocket quarterbacks it everything I read said it's a little easier for those guys to bounce back sooner from because you're you're not using your mobility You're you're standing in the pocket.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: You're more accurate.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's not the Sean's game, man.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: He is he's got to get out of the pocket.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: He runs away from fake pressure
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: his mobility and his athleticism wasn't very good before the injury.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, it was already declining.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I just like you said, anything can happen, crazier things have happened in the world, but poor would this ever be up there.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I mean, again, like, he's going to look good in these training camps.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_05]: He's definitely has his technique and his steps down and everything.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_05]: It's what I did.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_05]: There's no, there's no pressure.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_05]: There's no, it's not, it's not the NFL game Sunday game.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_05]: It's a practice practice practice, you know, and that's what it is.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_05]: And he does look good now, but.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: you know get give it some time.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's I mean a seven eight-year veteran quarterback should look good at practice in shorts.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's been through the ringer.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: He knows how to practice.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: He knows how to do these things.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's not as first go round.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I'm like oh hey he looks good in practice.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like no kidding.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: They said that in 2024 and 2023.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: Then matter games or where it matters and that's where
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: We got a whole bunch of, we got months coming up here to discuss this stuff, which is going to be, either a lot of fun or really frustrating this depending on you.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a mixture on who you're talking to.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's going to be mixture of both, man.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: But it wouldn't be a Cleveland Browns off season without a quarterback debate.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: So that's right.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: This episode is sponsored by Kaoshi.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Browns Vand, you know, we've all messed around with the sports books before, right?
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: And let's be honest, you're always kind of playing into the house.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: But with Kaoshi, it's different.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're not betting against some sports book.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: You're trading against other real world people.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: There's no house trying to beat you Kaoshi just runs the marketplace.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: So if you think the public is wrong, like everybody's overreacting to these smoke screens in the draft or sleeping on a prospect, you can literally take the other side of the market.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not just sports either, you can trade on other real-world stuff, interest rates, inflation, even wild weather outcomes.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: It works like this, simple yes or no markets, your risk is capped up front and your payout is locked in.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: So if you trust your takes and instincts, and I know you guys do, go check out Calshian's see what markets are live right now.

- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of the off-season, the off-season program let's move into real quick, the upcoming schedule just so everybody knows what's going on.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: Tomorrow, the first session of OTAs will kick off for the Browns.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: There are three OTA sessions, and then a mandatory mini camp.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the four things remaining in this off-season program, and then they have their summer break.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: And at the end of summer break obviously is when training camp starts and then you do training camp preseason and we're right into a right into football like it's going to it's going to fly but OTAs like I said may 19 that starts tomorrow through the 21st
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: The next week you got made 26 to the 28th and the week after you got June 2nd through the fifth.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: And that wraps up the OTA periods for the Browns and then June 9th through the 11th.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: That is the mandatory mini camp.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's when miles will be there.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's when all the players have to come and report and do their stuff.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then it'll be summer break.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: But Kenny, do you want to talk about OTAs give us a quick rundown break down on which can and can't do what they are, all that kind of stuff?
- 24:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, like, OTAs are organized team activities.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_05]: I think you and I struggled to remember what that actually meant.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, a couple of weeks.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_05]: The offensive training.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_05]: You know what, sometimes you use acrimonate, acrimonate, I get even say it, but accurate nymphs, so much that you forget what they mean, right?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's what it does mean.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_05]: So, ultimately, it's super important for the Browns, like we're going to install our offense defense special teams, like we have all new coordinators.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_05]: So, we got to introduce these basic content concepts, terminology, and obviously introduce the playbook or more of it.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_05]: Position drills are super important.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_05]: This is where the players are really going to work on themselves.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_05]: Guys like miles, if they're not there, do you think miles really needs a little bit more?
- 25:13[SPEAKER_05]: maybe, but I need the backups to get as many reps as possible.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_05]: And then generally what you're going to do is 7 on 7's 9 on 7's and 11 on 11's.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_05]: There is no contact just you guys.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, no pads as per NFL rules and I'll get into a little bit more of that.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_05]: But ultimately this is very good.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_05]: for quarterbacks, receivers and DBs, and they're just trying to develop some kind of rhythm.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_05]: In that, obviously, our coaching staff, while they're gonna get to know the guys, they also want to evaluate the depth and the versatility of a lot of players.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_05]: And versatility was a big thing that we emphasized throughout this 120-day reset, because we needed it the last two years.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_05]: Then, ultimately, if you're hanging out with the boys, you're going to develop some leadership, some culture building.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_05]: That's very important for the team dynamics, captains, veterans, establish the tone and they set expectations.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_05]: And then there's the one side of it that we know medical rehab and conditioning, guys.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_05]: So that's basically what you want to accomplish in the OTAs.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_05]: biggest thing is it's held in May.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_05]: And that's where we are right now.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_05]: Josh mentioned starts tomorrow.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_05]: Goes to early June.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_05]: Three, four weeks long.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_05]: Ten total sessions are available.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_05]: They're not mandatory.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then that's followed by the camp.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_05]: Usually three days.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_05]: Key rules like I said.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_05]: No life contact, no helmets, no pads, limited time on the field.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_05]: So only like about two hours of practice.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_05]: And coaches may not conduct one on one full speed drills.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_05]: So the way it works, phase one, we got an extra session, as you guys know, just before the NFL draft,
- 27:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's about two weeks long, so obviously we're out of that daily limit is four hours, so two on the field, like I said, really it's a really I was correcting itself 90 minutes on the field so two hours on the practice facility, but 90 minutes on the field.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_05]: there is some limit limited strictly to strength and conditioning, only strength and conditioning staff can be on the field now.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_05]: This is phase one guys.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_05]: This is all done.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_05]: There is no football drills, no schemes, no plan salation, or helmets.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_05]: Phase two,
- 27:39[SPEAKER_05]: his three weeks after this two weeks has been done, this is where the rules are expanded slightly.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_05]: So, full coaching staff is on the field.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_05]: There is individual drills, perfect play, walk throughs,
- 27:55[SPEAKER_05]: position instruction and install contact install concepts.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_05]: You're still not allowed offenses versus defense one on one's helmets are competitive periods.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_05]: So this is really terminology wrote timing quarterback footwork and motion shifts.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_05]: So this is this is why veterans look should look good in these OTAs.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_05]: And defensively, like Root and Berg, obviously, he's got his communication structure.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_05]: He needs to get through the guys, alignment responsibilities, and that's important for that part of the staff.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_05]: Now we're getting into the OTAs.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_05]: We are in two phase three guys.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_05]: So this is where I mentioned the 10 total practices.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_05]: We hit the helmets are on 7 on 7, 9 on 7, 11 on 11.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_05]: Still prohibited though, you guys will notice.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_05]: No pads, no life tackling.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_05]: They'll be hitting dummies, but they won't be hitting each other.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, where are we now?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_05]: Um, so that's basically with your quarterbacks who's going to get the QB1 reps. How are the reps split up?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_05]: That's good.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_05]: Everybody wants to know offensive line, Spencer Fano.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_05]: They're going to start yelling a little bit receivers are going to get their concepts as well.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_05]: And then when this, these 10 sessions are done, then we're going to get right into mandatory mini camp.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_05]: And that's super important.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_05]: One thing I will say, we did pass our rookie mini camp.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_05]: Todd Monkton said that's the ACT period.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_05]: So that's alignment, communication, and technique.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_05]: And that's what all the rookies worked on, the entire rookie mini camp.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_05]: I thought they did a fantastic job.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_05]: from looking between versatility and athletics, I maybe it's just in my head because it's new and it's resencibious, but I thought everybody looked fantastic coming out of their routes.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_05]: Super athletic.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_05]: One thing I want to point out, our new safety.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_05]: The reason why that guy gets turnovers, I don't know if you noticed every single time he had the touch of receiver to stop to initiate a tackle like, he went and punched the ball every single time.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's his thing.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_05]: you know, and I thought that was great.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: So, but that's basically your A to Z on what OTAs are guys, basically getting the playbook down, getting your terminology down, and knowing where to be and where to align.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, that's an excellent breakdown.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that Kenny and, you know, if anybody out there has any more questions about OTAs or anything that's going on here at the Browns in the next few weeks before the summer break, drop them in the comments.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let us know, but I think that was a pretty good breakdown.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Now, to recap this 120 day reset.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: So, remind me, Kenny, what was said at the very beginning of this 120 day reset?
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: What was the goal?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_05]: Well, basically, one of the things that always stood out to me is he said he wanted guys that popped off the tape, especially in the draft.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_05]: The main thing is he wanted versatility, he wanted competition, he wanted toughness and athleticism.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Are you talking a beer, Munkin?
- 31:05[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, munk it.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_05]: They're they're aligned.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_05]: I don't even make it that bad.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_05]: I've took their pressers in like match them and put them in AI.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_05]: Are these guys on the same page?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_05]: Because it seems to me they are.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_05]: And they yeah, you couldn't pick out anything, right?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_05]: So that's basically what they're looking for.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_05]: And then ultimately we would took a look.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_05]: Like, we all know his fans, what was the biggest misgivings?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_05]: And we said it earlier about Shador and his struggles.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_05]: The offensive line just wasn't there.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_05]: And we didn't replace a couple guys.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_05]: We replaced everyone.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_05]: It was that bad.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_05]: And then with receivers too, I mean, the receivers didn't really get a fair shape because if the offensive lines bad that you know the rest of the teams aren't going to get their due diligence to get the ball when they need or whatever, but the receivers just weren't getting separation, we added to that and we added youth, which was fantastic.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_05]: The other thing is in my opinion, the.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_05]: defense was good, but we needed another linebacker.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_05]: Definitely took care of that as well.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_05]: We got a guy that he's not jail-k, but he's someone that can play in that space, right?
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so excited for Quincy Williams, man.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: And he's got that relationship.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: Have you guys forget when we signed it?
- 32:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: He came here because of Mike Routenberg.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Such a great relationship with him when never Root and Burke was coaching him in New York.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's when Quintie Williams had his pro bull season.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: He loves him.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and Quintie Williams is a guy that Root and Burke actually highlighted as one of the players.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's created this awesome relationship with after coaching.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: Whenever he was first introduced in his presser and then loan behold, once free agency opens up, here comes Quintie Williams, the Cleveland.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_05]: And then guys, what's the other thing that we bitched about, bitched about, bitched about, it lost us the jet's game.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_05]: It's the depth and the lack of special teams.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, we have a new coordinator.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_05]: We've resigned a bunch of guys, depth pieces like Daniel Thomas, Khalia Davis.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_05]: We've got tray Avery, Sam Kamara, Blake Whiteheart.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_05]: These are all guys that are depth pieces that could play a vital role
- 33:16[SPEAKER_05]: Special teams guys like Michael Burton the full back while we want to be an like a very tough running team I'm sure he'll have a role on the special teams as well as Tail and Wallace who's a gunner, so that's these are all important signings for us
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then a lot of the later round picks that I know, um, Justin Jefferson, the linebacker from Alabama that we drafted in the fifth round.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: His big contribution early on is expected to be on special teams.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's where he's he's played there.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's ready to come in and shine there.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the UDFAs we signed.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could make a name for themselves and
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: try to fight for roster spot through special teams.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: So they definitely added depth competition to the special team specifically, which we like you said desperately needed to get.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and even if you go from under underneath Brailsford, you mentioned adjusted Jefferson, Joe Royer, and Carson Ryan, like those are athletic tight ends.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_05]: Those guys are guys that can make plays and special teams at start.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_05]: And that's how they're gonna make their mark on the team.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_05]: And when you're going obviously tailing green, we'll get into him a little bit later.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_05]: If you're picking in the sixth round, and you have a guy that like,
- 34:32[SPEAKER_05]: You know, one, the combine, a probably won the last, what 22 combine since Kelvin Johnson was there.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you got it.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_05]: You got to pick him.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_05]: You got to try something with them.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_05]: But we'll get that dot in a bit.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk some tail and green here toward the end guys.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: But to kind of recap the specific names here,
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the Browns, they signed Zion Johnson to the big deal, the free agent from the chargers.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: So there's one of your guards.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: And again, like Kenny's been saying, versatility was a key theme with a lot of these players.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: You had Elkton Jenkins, the center slash guard slash he's played left tackle before the Duke won't play anywhere on the line.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: You signed him from the Packers.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_02]: Tevin Jenkins, obviously, we're re-signed who was here last year, played some right guard for us.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm trying to see anybody.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and then obviously, we traded for Titus Howard.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: So there's your big O line moves prior to the draft and then obviously we draft a Spencer Fano, we draft a Parker Brailsford, and let's see who I'll own Austin Barbara.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, I can forget Austin Barbara.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think Barbara might actually have a
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited to see what he can do in camp.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_05]: He, he to me seems like he's like, why it teller, just when he's like, when that guy malls you, he doesn't move, and he knows he's not moving to the next level, he's gonna body slam you after.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and like, he doesn't.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_05]: Like, it's a pancake and he's making you thinner.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_05]: It don't, I mean, like, he hit people, and he, he made sure he know his presence was felt.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_05]: And that's why I liked about that guy.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Austin Barber has nasty to him.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: Not like I'm going to commit penalties on the I'm not like I'm just you guys know what I mean like that nasty physicality that what like you said why it teller has playing the offensive line spot in the NFL's just
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we need, especially whenever you're taking guys like Zack Center in the third round.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: Couple of years ago, that's been a bus.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't paned out at all, you know, Luke Whipler was a six or a fifth or six round pig.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: Couple of years back.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's in the last year of his rookie deal, but he's always hurt to want Jones, showed some promise.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_02]: Can't stay healthy.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: Can't maintain his weight.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: You get these guys that are super athletic have a proven track record of success in college football.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: And multiple positions, they can play multiple positions.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: None of them are isolated to any one spot except for maybe Parker Brailsford.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's kind of a center-only guy.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I think the athleticism there, they think gives him an actual shot to compete for that position.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I love the moves they've made on paper, obviously, for the offensive line.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I mean, oh, the draft.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we can't say enough about it quickly with a monkey.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, he wants to take advantage of one elite trait.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_05]: And he, again, like, I'll get back to what he says, like, what makes the tape pop, right?
- 37:18[SPEAKER_05]: Look at Spencer Fato athletic.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, athletic.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_05]: You look at Casey conception elite separation ability.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_05]: You look at Denzel Boston.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_05]: Remember, I said,
- 37:30[SPEAKER_05]: of Harold Fanon, and it's the catch radius.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_05]: It's the catch radius.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_05]: That catch radius.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_05]: It's all skills.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, just out of this world.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_05]: And then with a manual McNeil Warren, it's just turnovers.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's turning the ball over.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_05]: There's more to him than that, but that's what pops off the tape to me.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_05]: I won't get into the other guys, but those are the first rounders that we got in the first two rounds, which is impressive.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_05]: you know.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_05]: And then you got the rest of the other guys.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_05]: Brailleford was the guy I was the headscratcher for me until I actually like did research on them.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't realize he was as athletic as he was.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_05]: And you know, coming out of college, you're thinking like, I want, you know, my 310
- 38:17[SPEAKER_05]: tight end, but they basically compare them like size wise and athletic wise to Kelsey, you know, in something I was watching and it's just a small guy that's a technician that uses leverage to get where he needs to be and move to the next level.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_05]: And if you have a center that can poll and you're doing these jet sweeps and these different run plays, that makes your like another
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was the big thing for me.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: I was reading up on Brailsford whenever I did the recap and stuff too, was that he never stops with the first block.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: He hits his first block and then it's, he's always looking, who's next?
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: Who is, who am I going after next to continue this play?
- 39:03[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what we need, man.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: We need dogs on that offensive line who are just like, I wanna hit somebody.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: and let's go until that whistle blows, you know, and that's, I'm excited to see that.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: As far as free agency, so we've mentioned, the offensive line, and we sign, we mentioned Quincy Williams.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty much it as far as your big name, big ticket type guys that are gonna make a big impact for this team.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: Just to run through, I mean, Miles Bryant was a cornerback from the Texans, the Angela Ross.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: We've re-signed from last year kind of a practice.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: These are depth pieces like Kenny said, special teams, guys.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_02]: They might not make the roster in the end when it's all said and done.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: Defensive line, we brought back Sam Kamera.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: We brought back Juliano Quara.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: We signed Clea Davis from the 49ers.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_02]: Kenny already mentioned Michael Burton the full back.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think he'll probably compete with some Carson Ryan our seventh round pick from maybe that full back that each back type of spot jack stole as well jack stall.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the tight end from the scenes we brought back like white heart.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: You said till and Wallace was the only wider receiver we added in for agency coming over from the Ravens primarily relegated to a special teams return roll.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's only caught.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: won't he pass his over five or six seasons in the NFL like he's not he's not a wide receiver that you're going to use.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: No, at that position.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: Especially with the additions we've now made to that room.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: And then the only like we brought back Corbahorcaz, we brought back Austin or Austin.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: Schmidt.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: Why can't I think of his name?
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, kicker Andy Andre Andre.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, I know it's an A.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: There I'm like you with a Carmen justice.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Carmen justice.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_05]: My favorite.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Cameron, we love you.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: No, yeah, so Andre Schmidt.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: So we brought back and then Rex soon, a horror the long snap, but we brought back our entire special team specialist guys.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then like at safety, like you said, Daniel Thomas, trait, Avery all names that
- 40:59[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to be a big deal because they're all possible bubble and upgrades and we'll see what happens with the Browns do with maybe some of these players in the next 60 days.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, it's not like a bad, you know, I'm not knocking these guys just as swayed as ever.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to fill out your roster.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: You have what 90 spots correct for the training camp for the free season.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to cut it down to 53.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot of these, I mean, that's a lot of guys that don't
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to have them for training camp and practice and pre-season games and everything else.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see who ends up sticking around here.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it'll be.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think there's going to be much, much surprises in the depth.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I'm just taking a look at it right now.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, the first two lines seem pretty.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_05]: good to me.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_05]: I would say if I don't know if Luke Floria or Gage Larva Dan make the team, but there are guys that could push some guys out.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_05]: Possibly, you know, said till maybe a change of scenery for him just hasn't quite worked out here.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe even Mike Hall Jr., you know, that that's something where they could maybe recoup some draft capital if we move forward because it in Huntington might be out.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_05]: Mike, my call junior at this point.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_05]: So who knows, we'll see how they go.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and they added a couple guys on the defensive line as UDFA is obviously we've talked about Logan Fano, Spencer's older brother.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then the kid out of LSU, or not LSU, Tyver's app, the kid out of Florida.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_02]: So he's kind of that tweener type defensive line and where he's kind of listed as an edge player, but could definitely move in and play the inside of the defensive tackle spot as well.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be all kind of training camp battles and OTA battles and stuff going on here in the next couple of weeks as well.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: As far as you mentioned, like wider severs, it's crazy that Gage Larvedin was holding down a starting wider severs spot for the most, I mean, not like in two wider severs sets, it was he's starting for the Browns, but he played a lot for it was part of our starting rotation at wider severs last year.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Might not even make the team this year because
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: We've added, like you said, Casey, Concepcion, Denzel Boston, obviously, but then even a guy like Cole Wilson, they get out of bailer who was making some splash plays, big catches during the rookie mini camp, who knows.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, some of these guys might at work their way into the rotation.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, if you take a look at this, the quick going to the roster, if you take a look at it, my big thing with the roster, if I look at it right now, obviously everybody wants to talk about the quarterback, but let's talk about right guard.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_05]: Kevin Jenkins, Zack's inner, Tyre E. Phillips.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know about that.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_03]: The other thing is, I don't know about that.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and the other thing is nickel I've been harping on nickel nickel nickel nickel you know what yeah and I don't know about you I think a lot of people or where's my notes here a lot of people been I don't know what I did with it anyway as I'll just go by that my head a lot of people been talking about Parsons from oh there we go
- 44:14[SPEAKER_05]: So, a lot of people have been talking about Parsons maybe taking that if we can sign him, right?
- 44:19[SPEAKER_05]: Parsons.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not Parsons, sorry, Kenny Moore.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: No, Kenny Moore is a guy that I want.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_05]: Sorry, Trevor and Diggs, I'm thinking of Parsons.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_05]: They both, they both went to you.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think in Dallas players.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so, I mean, while Diggs, I mean, he's got that awesome burst and he has a lot of, got the change direction, size, fluid hips.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_05]: I just don't know about him for one main thing.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_05]: Routenberg likes the heart-mind fist comp concept, and I think he's got the competitive spirit.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's got the mind, he can process the routes.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_05]: I just don't know about his willingness to tackle,
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: This episode is sponsored by Butcher Box for Pets.

- 47:09[SPEAKER_00]: Discover quality and excellence in all things outdoors with Mount Hope fence.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: Are you at all excited about Michael Coats?
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I could be your nickel answer right there.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_05]: I am excited about it, but my, I guess my hesitation is bringing, I'd like to bring him along and teach him and set throne him out to the wall.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_05]: Sure.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_05]: I understand that.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_05]: So if you get a guy, if you get a guy like Kenny Moore, who's available, I think that might be a better position to stabilize the defense.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_05]: And that guy, again, with the heart-mine fist attitude, relentless competitor, he's going to recognize the routes, he's played that, but he's a physical and willing takler.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_05]: Even though he's a smaller dude, this Dix, you know, he's just a better processor, better tackler, better run defender in that case, true slot fit.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_05]: You're not projecting someone and obviously, you know, safer for a nickel projection overall.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_05]: So if they can get something done there, I would love to see that.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so again, just if you didn't catch the last episodes or whatever, guys, Michael Coach Jr. UDFA signing corner back out of West Virginia, and you know, Kenny, you just talked about wanting to bring him on a little slowly.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if you necessarily would have to.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: It just depends on what they feel like his experience level was, because you got to remember, he played, I think, five years in college.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be 25 years old when the season starts.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: He is a much older,
- 48:39[SPEAKER_02]: rookie, then, you know, bringing in like a 21, 22 year old who's like, yeah, maybe we do need to give him some time to further develop.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: Michael Coates might be a lot more further along than a guy like that.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying he is.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying there's a chance, though, that it might be a little bit different story.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_05]: That's a good point.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_05]: And, you know, if, yeah, it's a good point, I'm just worried about the transition that's all and see if he can make it.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_05]: our deal on we'll see what he does in preseason and like he could possibly be there doesn't hurt to have Kenny more though with all that experience and put him anywhere you know what I mean so he's definitely somebody that would do well on this team and it would help with just with our depth overall in the corner back room.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah for sure and I mean just even just stick
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: way more interested in seeing him on the field right now.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like if if game one was tomorrow, put Michael Coats on the field.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see him.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to see any more miles hard.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, you know, like there are players on this roster that have been here for a few years that I'm already saying, I don't I don't need to see anymore.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I would say that to and I mean, I don't just like the kid or anything.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, yeah, like just not as personal as it as a bounce fan, just watching the game.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, okay, I'm good.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to see that anymore.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_05]: Where's another touchdown?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, hey, if you guys want, you know, Cumbaya takes and everything that everybody's all flowers and roses on this roster go listen to the radio or something.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because yeah, that's where you're going to get the fence setters.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_05]: For for right guard though, what do you think about bringing Kevin sightler back just as a deaf piece?
- 50:29[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know how old is he now?
- 50:30[SPEAKER_05]: He's probably 35.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: I would say for me, I don't
- 50:36[SPEAKER_02]: 30.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see the Browns bringing in a 36 year old veteran right now.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: They want this youth movement.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: They are all about building up the youth and developing, you know, for the future, not just for the future, but for now too, but obviously to help us out more in the future.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: I do think there's a chance if Parker
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to rule out the idea of him potentially starting even week one.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it takes a few weeks, maybe the first quarter of the season, but Elkton Jenkins is a guy that you could move to either guard spot.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: You got Zion Johnson for the other guard, your tackle's already said.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not as concerned about the right guard just because I do think I also wouldn't rule out a guy like Austin Barber.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_02]: coming into camp and showing that you know what maybe I'm I don't have the the length to play right tackle, but I do fit on this offensive line sooner than later and maybe they try him at right guard because I do think a moved he would be a massive mulling right guard on an offensive line.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think he could play there.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think his college coach Ethan said that too.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: If I saw
- 51:46[SPEAKER_05]: article where you are absolutely right I think that would be a fantastic move and I guess I was kind of alluding to that earlier when I compared him to white teller I think he could be a nasty muller in there as well and that's something that I would love to see the Browns do.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_05]: with Tevin Jenkins, he's another guy that I was like, I don't know if I need to see any more of him.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_05]: He's what he is gonna be, but maybe with Warhop, he takes another step, we'll see.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_05]: All these guys will get another chance with a new regime.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_05]: And even Miles Harden, maybe he does something with Ruten Burr, maybe Ruten Burr can point something out.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, but I think like you said, you've seen enough, but you never know with the new coaching staff.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and yeah, I hear you on the Miles Harden with Rutenberg, because when you bring in a coach who, you know, his specialty is the secondary.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, then you've got to at least anticipate the secondary players could potentially see a bump in their play, because this guy, that is what he specializes.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_02]: And now, obviously, they've got their own position coaches and things like that who we really do like who the Brown's have on their staff at those spots and everything.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we'll see how it goes, especially with the offensive line stuff, how that shakes out, it's going to be very interesting.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: I just, who was it?
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: I was reading an article, and I think the Browns coaching staff was talking to the Florida coach for, you know, Austin Barber, again, there you go, talking to the college coaches about the players that you just got.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it makes sense, yeah, they would know them best, but whatever.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how it all shakes out.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_02]: Can anything else about this, 120 day reset before we get to Stacy's voice mail?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I would say that as far as like the way the practices have laid out and the way that the coaches handle the pressers, I think that was the very first thing that we actually skipped is we got a coaching staff and it settled out.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_05]: And even if you see Mike Root and Bergen the way that he's got that energy in practice, I can see why they hired him because I didn't really know and you know time will tell, but these guys seem.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_05]: I think what I'm trying to get at is the general manager seems like the general manager now and the coach is coaching up the the raw clay and building it and that that seems like where it's going I know it's early to tell that but just maybe with a change in coaching staff there's more of a positive attitude and guys are just a little crisper maybe that's it as well but I kind of like how the dynamics of the Browns are working and I think that was essential
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I definitely, I'm glad you brought that up.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_02]: I like the new dynamic in the hierarchy way better than it was before because when you've got too many cooks in the kitchen, when you've got this equal thought partner BS going on between Andrew Barry and then Kevin Stephansky and Paul Depot sucks.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, you see what happens.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: You see what happens.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: You get Dylan Gabriel in the third round.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Andrew Barry would have made that pick.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_02]: If it was up to him and his department, but you got the head coach who's like, hey, I got you.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_02]: Cool, say here.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_02]: This is my guy.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_02]: This is who I want.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's how you end up with that situation.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's different because from reading, jewelry, Epstein's article from night one in the Browns, war room and everything.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Munkin's input when the Browns were picking their players, you know, they would turn it over to Munkin and say, Hey, how do you feel about making, you know, Spencer phono the pick and he's just like, Hey, if you guys like him, let's do it like everything you said sounds great.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Munkin is he's here to coach the players and I think that he's going to give you some input whenever he has it.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_02]: about a certain player, certain position, and what maybe he wants, but the other day he's here to coach the guys.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's not here to scout.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's not here to do all that crap.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: He needs to coach the players and it is Andrew Barry and his department's job to get the best players in here for him to coach.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's working better.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_02]: You see that with the way they've drafted, the free agents they've brought in.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm very pleased with the way things have gone now.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: Will it work out on the field?
- 56:00[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see, we think it will, but who knows, I mean, everybody still, you're you're a five and 12 team until you're not like exactly.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but at least the process and we've said this last couple shows now Josh called in the other night on a voice mount said, hey, you guys are talking about feels good to feel good.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just, let's just live that life for a little bit.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_02]: It feels good to feel good.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_02]: The calves won game seven two series in a row.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: We did we knocked two drafts out of the park.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_02]: We got some great young players, new coaches.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just feel good.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely, man.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: Because if there's going to be pain, it's going to start in September.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: We don't need to have pain now.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: So last part of the show here, we're going to kick it off with our voicemail here from our girl in the discord, Stacy.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: Hey guys, it's Stacey.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to make a little comment on all the tail and green on news and how he's doing.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: Looking so good in many camp and this and the other.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I just wanted to say that I'm on the same page as Mr. Jersey Justin with, let's just slow our role here.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's think about tail and green as a whole and think about.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: the stats and the numbers that he put up in college and also think about the many camps situation.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: The guy was the only quarterback really available to throw to anybody.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_01]: So of course we're going to see videos of him and it's going to look like he's the best quarterback in the whole wide world and then you get Mary Kay over here, you know, she's got to talk her stuff.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, he looks tail and green is really throwing the Paul great, like just
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: pipe down lady seriously.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: That lady drives me nuts, but we all know that.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I just want to say, we have to be realistic about it.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I saw the tweet the other day, and it was the guy that I said, they're crazy if they don't give Tealing Green first round reps, or first first team reps.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like,
- 57:52[SPEAKER_01]: Are you insane?
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: And out of your mind, like the guy has as it looks as if right now three quarter backs in front of him.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: Why is he getting first team reps?
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: Should or didn't even get first team reps last year when he should have been QB2 from the rip?
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's all just calm ourselves down and be realistic, please.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_02]: Let's take see you.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're awesome.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_02]: There's love it.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_02]: That is an excellent voicemail.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: Great take Kenny.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: Talk to me about tail and green and some of the stuff
- 58:20[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know what the the biggest thing is is like she wasn't she was saying like people were saying he looked really good Like I don't agree with that like he looks athletic He is every bit of that 99.99 rascore that he had he looks that part is amazing But if you look up how to throw a football
- 58:43[SPEAKER_05]: the first thing that you should find is the compact motion.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_05]: He does not have that.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_05]: He does not have a tight release.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_05]: He does not get the ball out fast.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't reduce it.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_05]: Like he does not reduce strip opportunities.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_05]: He holds it out here.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_05]: You have to hold it in like this, square your shoulders, cock it and go.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_05]: That's it.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_05]: That just doing that.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_05]: That is the minimal amount of time to do it.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_05]: And his proper sequencing is not there.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_05]: Just go watch John Grudin's podcast where he breaks down, tailing green with tailing green.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_05]: It drove him nuts.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_05]: He actually called them Calvin Johnson, because he goes, if you can't get this right, you're gonna go play receiver, you know, I'm gonna make it, because I know it bugs you, you know what I mean?
- 59:33[SPEAKER_05]: And don't get, I don't wanna get in the receiver talk either.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_05]: I wish I didn't bring that up now.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_05]: But I'll leave it alone.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_05]: I'll leave it alone.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_05]: But the biggest thing is is your power comes from your feet, then your hips, then your torso, then your shoulder.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_05]: And that's got to be one compact motion, okay?
- 59:49[SPEAKER_05]: What he does, he's strong arms, man.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_05]: He has a cannon arm.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_05]: And when he's strong arm it, and he's got the flick of the wrist, he can let that thing fly.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not saying that he's got a really, really good,
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_05]: long ball.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_05]: My worry is him hitting the flats, him hitting slants in the middle.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_05]: I just he's not there yet.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_05]: Is he a big piece of clay and he's he an awesome athlete.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_05]: I said it before.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_05]: He's won every combine since Calvin Johnson.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_05]: every combine and that but that's where you got to let it go, man, because he's just not there as far as like consistent sets and he's I guess, I guess, John Gruden said it best.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_05]: He's not consistent.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, he's not.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think like Stacy said, everybody's just got to slow the roll.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_02]: What's healing green?
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's a project quarterback.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's not some.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_02]: And Todd Muck and he even said, during the rookie minicant, like,
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_02]: I forget exactly the exact quote, but he essentially said, yeah, Taylor and Greenee's to take advantage of his reps now because once OTAs and Traini Camp start, he won't be getting those reps. Todd, like we Todd Muckin knows, this is not a guy we're focusing on this year.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's a six round pick with the insane athletic abilities.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, Kenny, bad throwing motion for the NFL.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't work that well in college.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just he said, go look at his college stats and I talked about this before on the show.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: You got a six round quarterback who had bad accuracy and high turnover rate in college football.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it doesn't it doesn't translate.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_05]: There is a bit of, I think they kind of alluded to it on the podcast with Grootin is that he has such an athletic gift that I think he thinks he can overcompensate and he needs to just like check down.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_05]: He makes the, he wants to go for the gusto all the time checking down and being a backup quarterback is your best friend in this league.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_05]: And again, like I totally get why you guys are enamored with them.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_05]: The guys that are and want to give him first string reps because the size, the momentability, the arm elasticity, the explosive athletic nature that he has is tantalizing, but
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_05]: You will put him out to the wolves if you put him there in the game one because his wind up is that long wind up is a signal for quarterbacks to feet or a cornerbacks to feast and he's got a he's really got a tight in that up.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_02]: Back to feast and defensive linemen to come in here and smack it out of your hand.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_05]: And he doesn't.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_05]: And when he gets rattled, he does not have a good follow-through balance.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_05]: And that will lead to ducks.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_05]: And that will lead to interceptions.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, preseason games come around.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_02]: And here comes Taylor and green and the third, fourth quarter of these games.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_05]: And he's going to look awesome.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: Ironworks.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_02]: Highlight real stuff.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's going to be awesome.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_02]: He
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_02]: Do you guys remember Joe Milton, yeah.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_02]: Joe Milton came in here and what was he a fifth round, fourth, fifth round pick for the Patriots, looked awesome in the preseason.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then it was like, they're not gonna use him in a game because he's not ready as a project quarterback.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_02]: They end up, hey, somebody actually wants to take us like the Cowboys or saying, hey, we'll take him as a backup.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_02]: Patriots like sure, yeah, well, we've got some draft couple.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_02]: This could be the route for tailing green too.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know I've talked a lot about twirl prior in the wide receiver route.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to stay as quarterback, it could look like a Joe Milton thing.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but yeah, it's just, that's Taylor.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, we, we all got suckered into this with DTR.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_05]: He was a very good, he was a very good, preseason athlete.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, when he went on and the third and fourth string people went on, he was quarterback.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_05]: He was the best athlete on the field.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_02]: He was bald.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_02]: Oh man.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_05]: And he was bald.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_05]: And he was bald.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_05]: But it was all off script plays.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_05]: And when you had to have scripted plays, he just couldn't make it to the next level.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_05]: And that's my fear with putting tail and green in right now.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_05]: He has stuff for a monkey style offense, which is movement in the passing game, boot action, quarterback, RPO packages, and that'll all look good in the preseason.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_05]: But when the NFL regular season starts, he's just not going to be ready.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you're absolutely right.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to talk about a difference between drafting quarterbacks between having Todd Munkin here and Kevin Stephanski, whether either Coach had a significant input on all these guys or not.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_02]: DTR and Dylan Gabriel were small quarterbacks.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they were DTR was I mean he was what six to issue.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean not like short, but a rail super thin super small Yeah, very slight and then Dylan Gabriel obviously just a very small quarterback and now you get tail in green Who's a monster six six 240 freaking pounds like just a big dude
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_05]: Either way, there's always an infatuation with the rookie, the backup quarterback, that type of thing, especially for, you know, Brown's nation, it's just, it's the world, it's the life we live, but hey man, Mary Kaye, we can complain about it, but she's not dumb, she always goes the next quarterback, because that's what we, that's where the, that's where all the likes come from, that's where all the hits come from man.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_02]: She knows how to get her clicks and I mean, that is it, it's a business model.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_02]: and you have to know how to work the business to be successful in that business, but absolutely like it.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: All right, anything else you wanted to dive into here before we wrap it up?
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_02]: That was a whole lot of good information today.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, man, I think I'm good.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_05]: I think we hit everything and I'm looking forward to these OTAs and these guys just getting the playbook and the terminology and everything down and getting comfortable.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_02]: Me too, man.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: Me too.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: So that's starting tomorrow.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_02]: Tuesday, the first session of OTAs.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_02]: And then of course, we'll be two more.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then the mentor minicant will be here detailing it all.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_02]: So make sure you guys stay tuned.
