New Lemur Babies Bring Hope | New York City News
Two critically endangered black-and-white ruffed lemurs, Maso and Tonga, just arrived at the Central Park Zoo — and you can see them now in the Tropic Zone. Born April 5th, they’re a major win for conservation, as their wild population has plummeted 80% due to habitat loss and poaching. These lemurs, native to Madagascar, are raised uniquely — moms stash babies in tree nests — and live in matriarchal groups led by Koa, their mother.
