Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to a bonus episode of Busting
- 0:04Speaker 1: with the Boys. We are in Miami, Florida at this
- 0:06Speaker 1: very moment, and we just sat down with the main
- 0:09Speaker 1: cart event, Sugarshan Omalley versus Cheeto Vera. It is going
- 0:14Speaker 1: down Saturday. It is Wednesday now when you're watching this
- 0:17Speaker 1: on Thursday, on Friday or Saturday before the fight. This
- 0:20Speaker 1: is leading up to this fight. We sat down there.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We're gonna get you guys to fight very cool or
- 0:25Speaker 1: the interview very quickly. However, we're gonna tell you who
- 0:27Speaker 1: we want to not, who we want to win, who
- 0:29Speaker 1: we think is gonna win.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Will We'll start with you well number one.
- 0:34Speaker 3: We need to shout out to the UFC Dana Hunter
- 0:36Speaker 3: for allowing us to be getting to sit down with
- 0:38Speaker 3: like the main event. And you can like feel it too,
- 0:43Speaker 3: like walking in the hallways and sitting down in here
- 0:45Speaker 3: and sitting with each one, like when Cheeto sat down
- 0:47Speaker 3: with us.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Legitimately, my heart rate was like pumping.
- 0:49Speaker 3: It's like, dude, these guys are about to they're about
- 0:52Speaker 3: to go to war on Saturday.
- 0:54Speaker 2: But listen to both of them. Man, I'm like.
- 0:58Speaker 3: It sucks because I kind of I'm like rooting for
- 1:01Speaker 3: both of them. It's like I was telling you before
- 1:03Speaker 3: we sat down to do this, I would enjoy watching
- 1:06Speaker 3: kind of the reign of Sugar Shan O'Malley happen because
- 1:09Speaker 3: of like the Connor McGregor's, the John Jones of the
- 1:12Speaker 3: world who's had like their.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Long reigns, and it would be cool.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Does he Shan kind of do the same thing, especially
- 1:17Speaker 3: since people have been like, oh, they've been feeding in
- 1:18Speaker 3: fights and kind of setting him up, and he's coming
- 1:20Speaker 3: off big wins with with a Yan and al Joe.
- 1:24Speaker 3: But but yeah, man, and then you got Cheetoh, who
- 1:28Speaker 3: we've hung around with at Shane Gillis's comedy in Vegas,
- 1:32Speaker 3: so we know him a little bit. We know he's
- 1:34Speaker 3: a fan of busting with the boys. He's very like
- 1:36Speaker 3: grounded and rooted, and he just knows who he is
- 1:39Speaker 3: and is confident in who he is. And you're just
- 1:41Speaker 3: like fired up for both. So I'm like torn.
- 1:42Speaker 2: But if I had to put my money.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Somewhere hashtag DK partner, hashtag DK partner, who do you got?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Let me say this, the opinion I'm going to give
- 1:57Speaker 1: at this very moment is going to be based on
- 1:59Speaker 1: the interviews we just tad, and to me, Sean was great.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He sat down, he answered the questions, but it felt
- 2:10Speaker 1: to me that he was doing this interview so he
- 2:13Speaker 1: can go focus on his stuff. Cheetoh, on the other hand,
- 2:16Speaker 1: seems like present in the moment, taking everything instride as
- 2:22Speaker 1: it comes to him, and so it's really just a
- 2:26Speaker 1: first impression on the mic. With these guys, I sit
- 2:28Speaker 1: in the same boat as you when it comes to
- 2:31Speaker 1: I want, like, if either one wins, I'm excited for
- 2:34Speaker 1: regardless of what storyline happens. It'd be sick to see
- 2:36Speaker 1: Sean do that, but it also starting a formal relationship
- 2:39Speaker 1: with Cheeto. It'd be cool to like put that in
- 2:42Speaker 1: your back pocket of being like, Okay, i'm gonna root
- 2:44Speaker 1: this is the guy I'm gonna root from now on,
- 2:46Speaker 1: kind of keeping them on the same playing field. Though
- 2:49Speaker 1: I came in here thinking Sean O'Malley Arizona astring.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Brothers, asting brothers.
- 2:58Speaker 4: But I'm gonna go with Cheetoh.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to go with Cheeto, And I got like,
- 3:03Speaker 1: if Sean wins, happy for Sean. I still hope it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: an amazing fight. Yeah, and I'll just I will now
- 3:09Speaker 1: go back to Sean, but I think I'm with you.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a cheat.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Ah yeah, I know we had this conversation before, but
- 3:14Speaker 1: I legit thought about just switching just now. That's how
- 3:16Speaker 1: on the fence I am. That's how much I'm.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Like in Cheetoh though.
- 3:19Speaker 3: It's like it's tough to beat a good underdog story,
- 3:22Speaker 3: and obviously Sean can have his. He has this kind
- 3:25Speaker 3: of underdog mentality about it too. But knowing that this
- 3:27Speaker 3: dude was coming in the UFC and talks about, you know,
- 3:32Speaker 3: just trying to win a fight so he can live
- 3:34Speaker 3: another month in the US, so he can continue to
- 3:36Speaker 3: train and kind of do his thing, and knowing he's
- 3:37Speaker 3: got the three kids, he's got a he's gonna have
- 3:40Speaker 3: a huge kind of crowd on Saturday.
- 3:43Speaker 2: He's just like, you can't help but to just root
- 3:45Speaker 2: for that bro.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And then just coming in hanging out and he is
- 3:48Speaker 1: the underdog, scrappy hair, scrappy beard. Yeah, and Sean comes
- 3:52Speaker 1: in the exact opposite, like hair got the perm going
- 3:55Speaker 1: the blue and the pink, he got his trunks that
- 3:58Speaker 1: he's super excited about. Multiple chains that don't really make
- 4:00Speaker 1: sense now, They're not layered, they're just kind of there
- 4:02Speaker 1: in the suit with no shirt on. It's like completely
- 4:04Speaker 1: different parallels of personality that both excite me. I feel
- 4:08Speaker 1: like this is gonna be It's just gonna be awesome.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm like fired up for Saturday, dude.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I know it's it's it's sick that the relationship with
- 4:16Speaker 3: Busting and the UFC has gotten to where we're at
- 4:18Speaker 3: UFC two ninety nine and we will be fucking in
- 4:22Speaker 3: the action. Hell yeah on Saturday. But I'm rolling with you.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I'm rolling Cheeto, going Cheato the.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Dog, the scrappy dog grew up fighting.
- 4:31Speaker 1: If you're gonna roll with the boys, hashtag DK partner. Obviously,
- 4:33Speaker 1: DraftKings is the place to go for all that. We'll
- 4:36Speaker 1: let you guys get in the interviews right now. Obviously
- 4:38Speaker 1: I see us enough. Let's get right into these. We
- 4:39Speaker 1: appreciate you guys. Please subscribe, unsubscribed, resubscribe all those things,
- 4:43Speaker 1: big hugs and tiniest of kisses.
- 4:46Speaker 2: How are we feeling, dude?
- 4:48Speaker 6: Well, I've had about four or five ounce chicken without
- 4:50Speaker 6: salt and a couple of handfuls of blueberry and about
- 4:53Speaker 6: way too much water.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you could work for the most.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Part is this is this the biggest struggle now is
- 5:00Speaker 1: just like the weight thing and knowing you have to cut.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's it's uh yeah, it sucks, it
- 5:07Speaker 6: really does.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Why do we have to do this?
- 5:10Speaker 5: Dude?
- 5:11Speaker 2: The pink shorts incredible? How fired up are you?
- 5:13Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 5:13Speaker 6: I'm pumped. Uh. You know, I feel like I was
- 5:16Speaker 6: able to get those pink shorts because of the performance
- 5:18Speaker 6: I put on against Aljae. I feel like you can't
- 5:20Speaker 6: ask for stuff like that if you're you know, if
- 5:22Speaker 6: I win a decision. But the fact I went out
- 5:24Speaker 6: there and put his lights out and asked for a
- 5:26Speaker 6: little favor, I think they came in.
- 5:27Speaker 2: How was that conversation with Dana Hunter?
- 5:30Speaker 6: You know, Hunter made it happen. Hunter is the fucking man.
- 5:35Speaker 6: So Hunter made that happen. Yeah, simple bro.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I I was checking out earlier your most recent vlog
- 5:42Speaker 3: with your morning routine, big fan, rocking the Daily Dad,
- 5:46Speaker 3: reading the Daily Dad, your morning routine, your your world
- 5:50Speaker 3: famous coffee.
- 5:51Speaker 2: What do you do? You just buy a little frauter
- 5:53Speaker 2: for the for the heavy cream.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Yeah, the fro that's a huge part of froth in
- 5:57Speaker 6: the milk. But using that arrow press machine you got.
- 6:00Speaker 6: You gotta have good quality organic beans, some good quality
- 6:03Speaker 6: organic honey, some organic heavy whipping cream.
- 6:06Speaker 5: It's all you really need.
- 6:06Speaker 6: And add a little cinnamon on top if you want.
- 6:09Speaker 6: But fuck, I missed that.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fine.
- 6:13Speaker 6: I've been doing it for I have like six years,
- 6:17Speaker 6: same way, aerow press every morning. It's fucking it's the
- 6:20Speaker 6: most I use that as a pre workout. You know,
- 6:22Speaker 6: it's fucking I love that.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Do you do yourselfie? Have somebody else do it?
- 6:26Speaker 5: You know?
- 6:26Speaker 4: No, I do it.
- 6:26Speaker 6: I enjoy doing that myself, So I'll do that for
- 6:30Speaker 6: myself probably forever. I enjoy that little bit of the
- 6:33Speaker 6: morning routine.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, the morning routine, Like how long did it take
- 6:35Speaker 1: you to establish it?
- 6:36Speaker 5: How long you've been doing it for?
- 6:37Speaker 6: I feel like that's been a build up about six
- 6:39Speaker 6: seven years, adding a little something. You know. It used
- 6:44Speaker 6: to be like, Okay, I'm gonna start a morning, I'm
- 6:45Speaker 6: gonna start a routine. I'm gonna fucking wake up hit
- 6:47Speaker 6: a ten minute meditation. That's kind of like where I
- 6:49Speaker 6: started a routine. It used to be, you know, when
- 6:52Speaker 6: I first started, it was like just the three minute meditation.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Learn kind of get into that, and then it went
- 6:57Speaker 6: from three minutes to five minutes, five minutes to ten minutes,
- 6:59Speaker 6: ten minutes. Okay, I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna do
- 7:01Speaker 6: a red light. I'm gonna do the cold plunge. I'm
- 7:03Speaker 6: gonna do this that. I haven't been doing the cold
- 7:05Speaker 6: punge right now. It's been doing fucking cold but in
- 7:07Speaker 6: the summer in Arizona, it's like the cold punge in
- 7:09Speaker 6: the morning's nice. But yeah, I built that over up
- 7:11Speaker 6: over the last five six years.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Proh the Sugar Era. How excited are do you about
- 7:17Speaker 3: your first title defense.
- 7:20Speaker 4: I'm very excited.
- 7:20Speaker 6: It's, you know, before I was champ, I felt like
- 7:24Speaker 6: I was a champ. I was making the most money
- 7:26Speaker 6: in the division. I had the biggest name in the division,
- 7:28Speaker 6: so I felt like I was kind of champ, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 6: for the last three four years. But now I'm officially
- 7:32Speaker 6: the champ defending the belt. You know, now I'm the
- 7:35Speaker 6: main event getting pay per viewpoints. It's it's the highest
- 7:38Speaker 6: of levels you get, and it's exciting.
- 7:41Speaker 1: With your opponent that you have taking technically the only
- 7:44Speaker 1: loss and your career even I know, the whole thing.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, having it go down the way it did.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Is this like not only like a you're defending a belt,
- 7:52Speaker 1: but this is like a revenge tour as well for.
- 7:54Speaker 5: You a little bit.
- 7:56Speaker 6: It is kind of because of what happened in the
- 7:58Speaker 6: first fight. But also, you know, I've never lost sleep
- 8:01Speaker 6: over that fight. I've never been like that fight's never
- 8:03Speaker 6: bothered me ever because I'm in the position I'm in
- 8:05Speaker 6: right now because of that fight. I was a comin
- 8:07Speaker 6: event on a massive pay per view that fight. If
- 8:10Speaker 6: I were to go out there and beat him, you know,
- 8:11Speaker 6: I maybe fought someone in the top five. Maybe I
- 8:13Speaker 6: wasn't ready at the time, but you know, that fight
- 8:16Speaker 6: played out the way it did. I come back fight
- 8:18Speaker 6: Thomas Almeida knock him out what seven eight times at
- 8:20Speaker 6: one fight. It was incredible. So I wouldn't have been
- 8:22Speaker 6: able to have that performance if that didn't play out.
- 8:25Speaker 6: So I've never really felt like it was revenge as
- 8:28Speaker 6: far as like I need to get that one back.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Because I don't feel like it's it's not there to me.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Never.
- 8:33Speaker 6: You know, I didn't lose because his skills were better
- 8:35Speaker 6: than mine that night. It was a freak acent How
- 8:37Speaker 6: many times has that happened since that fight, you know,
- 8:39Speaker 6: three and a half few years later, not a lot.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, with that nerve, Like take us into like what
- 8:45Speaker 1: that feels like. It's like you shood on the toilet,
- 8:47Speaker 1: score on the phone for too long, and now your
- 8:48Speaker 1: legs are fallen asleep or is it one of those
- 8:50Speaker 1: deals where it's like a shooting pain, like if you
- 8:53Speaker 1: did something to your back, Like how does that feel?
- 8:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it's uh so years before that. In my second
- 8:58Speaker 6: UFC fight, I tore my I had Liz Frank surgery.
- 9:01Speaker 6: So in the middle of my of my fights, my
- 9:02Speaker 6: foot snapped and uh that was that was a two
- 9:06Speaker 6: year recovery. That was horrible in my head boom, I
- 9:10Speaker 6: feel like it felt like that. So instantly I'm thinking,
- 9:14Speaker 6: fuck my I wasn't thinking it's a nerve and my foot,
- 9:17Speaker 6: my foot just couldn't you know. I needed to come back.
- 9:19Speaker 4: I was thinking my foot to steps and half again.
- 9:21Speaker 6: But I also before I walked out, I had ankle
- 9:24Speaker 6: wraps on and they were too tight, and I was
- 9:25Speaker 6: telling them I was having one of my corners. I'm like,
- 9:27Speaker 6: will you trying to loosen this up a little bit?
- 9:29Speaker 6: Like there felt so tight, So I think when you
- 9:31Speaker 6: hit the nerve and that shut off, I got dropped foot,
- 9:33Speaker 6: so I couldn't lift my foot up, so I kept
- 9:35Speaker 6: rolling it. I think that nerve would have came back,
- 9:38Speaker 6: that rap wasn't so tight. You know that's bro science,
- 9:41Speaker 6: but that's what I felt like. You know, it was
- 9:43Speaker 6: kind of kind of happening. Would that have came back?
- 9:45Speaker 6: I don't know, you know it it happened in previous
- 9:49Speaker 6: fights to other people where they get that nerve and
- 9:52Speaker 6: they kind of roll their foot of come times, but
- 9:53Speaker 6: it comes back. I think my raps were a little
- 9:55Speaker 6: bit too tight that night.
- 9:56Speaker 3: How are how are your emotions different this fight compared
- 10:00Speaker 3: to the Algo fight. I remember your your post fight
- 10:03Speaker 3: you talked about that was the most nervous you've ever
- 10:05Speaker 3: been for a fight. How what's the difference leading up
- 10:08Speaker 3: to this weekend?
- 10:10Speaker 6: Yeah, going into a fight healthy compared to going to
- 10:12Speaker 6: a fight, you know, compromised, is a big difference. I
- 10:16Speaker 6: feel like I was able to get to that you know,
- 10:19Speaker 6: confidence state of mind to where I was in there
- 10:22Speaker 6: and I was you know, it wasn't bothering me. I
- 10:24Speaker 6: wasn't thinking about it. It was you know, the game
- 10:25Speaker 6: plans do not let this guy touch me anyway. It
- 10:28Speaker 6: was just maxed out because I was dealing with a
- 10:30Speaker 6: rib injury, so you know, it was it's definitely different.
- 10:33Speaker 6: I'm going into this fight healthy and it's uh, you know,
- 10:36Speaker 6: Aljoe to me was the hardest, the biggest test in
- 10:40Speaker 6: the division. Obviously he was the champ, but not the
- 10:42Speaker 6: champ's not always the hardest fight in the division. He
- 10:44Speaker 6: was the hardest fight and the champ and going into
- 10:46Speaker 6: there compromised. It was it was I had a lot
- 10:49Speaker 6: of mental chatter back and forth that I was able
- 10:53Speaker 6: to overcome every time, so that didn't really phase me then.
- 10:55Speaker 6: But yeah, I feel really really good going into this fight.
- 10:59Speaker 6: The thing about Cheetos, so he's so durable. That's what
- 11:03Speaker 6: makes him so dangerous. This is a twenty five minute fight.
- 11:05Speaker 6: If I don't put his lights out, you know, and
- 11:08Speaker 6: I do a lot of damage, I could potentially gas
- 11:11Speaker 6: myself out and then get finished or lose a decision.
- 11:14Speaker 6: So it's, uh, you know, there's interesting challenges in this fight,
- 11:18Speaker 6: but I feel good.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And you when you were dealing with the uh going
- 11:21Speaker 1: into fighting for your for the belt and you're having
- 11:24Speaker 1: all these nerves that you had to break through, Like
- 11:25Speaker 1: what is like your process that helps you break through?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Kind of that you're because you can be enabled by
- 11:31Speaker 1: fear or I just.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Feel like it because yeah, I'm super curious, because yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 3: as athletes, like people will be lying if you don't
- 11:38Speaker 3: lay on the pillow and think about, Okay, what if
- 11:39Speaker 3: I miss his tackle?
- 11:40Speaker 2: What if I the night before game?
- 11:42Speaker 3: But you envisioned success, but you also at the same time,
- 11:44Speaker 3: you're like fighting those demons of like, Okay, don't doubt yourself,
- 11:46Speaker 3: like you've put you've prepared, you put in the work.
- 11:50Speaker 2: But yeah, I feel like we all go through that
- 11:52Speaker 2: yeah stuff.
- 11:52Speaker 6: I think the biggest one of the biggest things is
- 11:55Speaker 6: trusting the process and not just saying that, but truly
- 11:58Speaker 6: truly trusting the process. Like I'm here for a reason.
- 12:01Speaker 6: I've been knocking people out since I was sixteen. You know,
- 12:03Speaker 6: I've been knocking people out for thirteen years now, so
- 12:07Speaker 6: I know I'm capable of putting his lights out. And
- 12:09Speaker 6: another thing is just accepting that if it doesn't go
- 12:12Speaker 6: my way.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Life's good.
- 12:14Speaker 6: You know I have I'm you know, life's not over.
- 12:17Speaker 6: If I go out there and lose, my life's still good. Yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 6: I'm gonna get hated on the internet whatever, none that
- 12:23Speaker 6: really bothers me. I feel like I've came to accept that,
- 12:26Speaker 6: truly accept that, to where it's like I can let
- 12:28Speaker 6: go of those thoughts because if it happens, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 6: my life, I'm still super blessed, super grateful to be
- 12:36Speaker 6: in the position I'm in. And I feel like I've
- 12:38Speaker 6: been able to do that early early on in my
- 12:40Speaker 6: career just accept whatever happens, life's gonna be good. So
- 12:43Speaker 6: like allows me to be able to not constantly keep
- 12:46Speaker 6: thinking about, oh, what if this happens. I'm like, what
- 12:48Speaker 6: if anything happens, fuck it, Life's gonna be good onto
- 12:51Speaker 6: the next And I feel like that's what really kind
- 12:53Speaker 6: of allows me to let go of thinking and enter
- 12:56Speaker 6: that flow state whatever you want to call it, by
- 12:59Speaker 6: not being attach to those thoughts.
- 13:01Speaker 3: What is something that you've like gravitated towards when kind
- 13:04Speaker 3: of cultivating that mindset, because I feel like it's fascinating, right,
- 13:07Speaker 3: Like you have the get up you have, but you're
- 13:09Speaker 3: also very intentional, you know, the daily day, Like there's
- 13:12Speaker 3: some type of stoic philosophy that you also have in
- 13:15Speaker 3: there to counterbalance everything how do you stay intentional? How
- 13:18Speaker 3: do you stay balanced when wanting to be the celebrity
- 13:21Speaker 3: and then also wanting to be the grounded fighter of
- 13:23Speaker 3: like accepting whatever outcome that there might be.
- 13:26Speaker 6: I mean, I would say routine is the biggest one,
- 13:30Speaker 6: but also having a three year old princess, like that'll
- 13:33Speaker 6: just fu Like what else is there to do? Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 6: I'm twenty nine, making a lot of money of status.
- 13:38Speaker 6: I could go out and do whatever I want to do, party,
- 13:41Speaker 6: do all that, but at the end of the day,
- 13:42Speaker 6: it's like I just want to hang out with you know,
- 13:44Speaker 6: hang out with Elena. So that keeps me very, very grounded.
- 13:49Speaker 6: That's completely changed my life, and I feel like that's
- 13:51Speaker 6: what I don't even know if I have. I like
- 13:54Speaker 6: to think of myself as a very disciplined person, but like,
- 13:56Speaker 6: man if I didn't have a little princess at home,
- 13:59Speaker 6: I might not be the position I'm in. So that
- 14:01Speaker 6: that keeps me grounded.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I love that. And congrats on the three year old
- 14:04Speaker 2: by the.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Way, tossing the hat.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah we got yeah, yeah, we gotta get you right, So.
- 14:09Speaker 4: We got on.
- 14:09Speaker 6: But my girl would kill me right now.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We got I got two girls. He's got a girl,
- 14:15Speaker 1: so yeah, we know that life, dude, it definitely changes.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Two years old, six and three, six and three, man,
- 14:20Speaker 6: I wouldn't There's there's these two little girls at the
- 14:22Speaker 6: gym that Atlanta goes and plays with that are like
- 14:24Speaker 6: four and two, and I'm like, I it just melts.
- 14:27Speaker 2: My age is like their full life man?
- 14:30Speaker 6: So fun more.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, is there that piece of you that like
- 14:34Speaker 1: wants that boy?
- 14:37Speaker 2: A boy would be cool?
- 14:38Speaker 6: I mean if I if you know, ten years down
- 14:40Speaker 6: the line, you're like, fuck, I got three girls. I
- 14:41Speaker 6: wouldn't be mad, you know, having a princess and it's
- 14:44Speaker 6: just I don't know, but a little boy would be
- 14:45Speaker 6: fun just to kind of get him into sports. I
- 14:47Speaker 6: would love I would love, you know if I I
- 14:50Speaker 6: would love him to be into sports, and I'm like,
- 14:51Speaker 6: I wouldn't want them the box. I wouldn't want the
- 14:54Speaker 6: m m a.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Jiu jitsu for sure.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Football is probably at like my favorite sport to walk
- 15:00Speaker 6: and kind of was growing up my favorite sport, but
- 15:02Speaker 6: it's so brutal. I'm like, fuck, I don't know if
- 15:04Speaker 6: I would want to be able to I could watch
- 15:06Speaker 6: him do that, So I'd probably want to get into
- 15:08Speaker 6: like basketball or something.
- 15:10Speaker 5: You know, some.
- 15:10Speaker 2: White would be golf, Yeah, golf something I.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Don't know, dude, football is kind of tight football, I agree.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I mean it's just sitting here with my low back
- 15:19Speaker 3: is just burning right now.
- 15:21Speaker 2: He's trying to get.
- 15:21Speaker 6: Stressed a dad watching your your little one fuck get
- 15:24Speaker 6: cloked as a running back or something. Yeah, fucking hard
- 15:27Speaker 6: and knowing just how you know risky it is with
- 15:31Speaker 6: with brain injuries.
- 15:32Speaker 5: And all that.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gonna be an interesting conversation when your son's like, hey, dad,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I really want to play football and you're like, yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 1: but the head.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Injuries and he just like pulls up.
- 15:39Speaker 1: You get smacked in the head like a compilation if
- 15:41Speaker 1: you just getting hit a bunch of times in the face.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Yeah, it'll be a hopefully you know, if across that
- 15:46Speaker 6: it will cross it.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 3: How do you see uh how long do you see
- 15:51Speaker 3: the rain going on? What does that look like for
- 15:54Speaker 3: like a fighter who you finally because you become the champion,
- 15:58Speaker 3: obviously you don't want to get too far ahead, you
- 15:59Speaker 3: don't want to you know, do too much. But what
- 16:02Speaker 3: does the rain look like for uh Sean O'Malley.
- 16:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's very very rare. A rain plays
- 16:08Speaker 6: out like an Israel Oita Sonia like I don't remember,
- 16:10Speaker 6: like a John Jones.
- 16:11Speaker 5: I guess as well.
- 16:12Speaker 6: You know, it's rare when when there's a champ that
- 16:14Speaker 6: stays there for multiple years. Uh in the fact, like
- 16:17Speaker 6: Alexander Wolkonowski and Izzy we're great examples of that. So
- 16:19Speaker 6: I would love to have a rain like that. You know,
- 16:21Speaker 6: the pantamweight division is absolutely stacked. There's killers after killers
- 16:25Speaker 6: at they're killers. So you know, I would like to
- 16:27Speaker 6: have a long, nice rain. But also, you know, you
- 16:32Speaker 6: never know. I'm gonna go with the flow. I don't
- 16:33Speaker 6: want to say I want to do this and then
- 16:35Speaker 6: I wake up one morning I'm like, man, I really
- 16:36Speaker 6: don't want to do this, but I also said I did,
- 16:39Speaker 6: so I'm gonna I'm just gonna do it. I'm gonna
- 16:41Speaker 6: go with how I feel. And if I wake up
- 16:42Speaker 6: one morning and I'm ready to call it quits, and
- 16:46Speaker 6: you know, I'm so, I'm just gonna go with the flow.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You talked about your one of your inspirations getting into
- 16:51Speaker 1: the sport, and somebody you kind of want to emulate
- 16:54Speaker 1: was Connor McGregor. Have your interactions ever been with him.
- 16:58Speaker 6: I've had one interaction with Connor uh the Dallas Cowboys
- 17:01Speaker 6: football game. He was off the proper twelve. I couldn't
- 17:04Speaker 6: understand him. His accent was a little thick and he
- 17:06Speaker 6: was a little buzzed up. So we had a little conversation.
- 17:08Speaker 6: It was loud, hard to understand. He was thicker than
- 17:12Speaker 6: fuck at the time. Just on some shit, I think.
- 17:15Speaker 5: But so I didn't.
- 17:17Speaker 6: I didn't really have you know, that was brief. But yeah,
- 17:21Speaker 6: I look up to Connor's He's done really well for himself.
- 17:25Speaker 6: I love what he's done. He's my favorite fighter to
- 17:28Speaker 6: watch out a press conference, interview, fight. Like, just love
- 17:32Speaker 6: everything about Connor. So it took huge inspiration from him.
- 17:34Speaker 3: How do you look at uh, Probably you're a business
- 17:37Speaker 3: guy yourself, like all the business endeavors and everything, and
- 17:40Speaker 3: kind of seeing how Connor has he's in the situation
- 17:43Speaker 3: that he's in where he's thinking about coming back or
- 17:45Speaker 3: his comeback's coming at some point we have no clue when, uh,
- 17:48Speaker 3: but like watching his kind of journey with it all
- 17:52Speaker 3: and not I guess getting too caught up in all
- 17:55Speaker 3: the business and everything else and keeping yourself in check
- 17:57Speaker 3: if you want to stay in the fight game, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 3: at a high level, like you want to.
- 18:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean you definitely, you gotta be all in.
- 18:04Speaker 6: You can't be in this sport if you want to
- 18:06Speaker 6: stay on top, you gotta be all in. And that's
- 18:09Speaker 6: where my head's at right now. I want to stay
- 18:10Speaker 6: on top. I want to be all in, and I
- 18:12Speaker 6: don't foresee in the near future that I'm not going
- 18:15Speaker 6: to think like that. I feel like, you know, you
- 18:17Speaker 6: learn from people that do certain things, and uh, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 6: he went in all all and the thing is too
- 18:23Speaker 6: It's like it was the whiskey business. You know, you
- 18:26Speaker 6: gotta drink it to promote it. You can't just you know,
- 18:28Speaker 6: promote it. So I think he was, you know, maybe
- 18:31Speaker 6: maybe drinking a little bit too much, a little you know,
- 18:34Speaker 6: maybe not. I don't know, obviously I'm not him, but
- 18:36Speaker 6: uh yeah, you learn for lessons from people like that.
- 18:39Speaker 6: I want to you gotta stay in the gym and
- 18:42Speaker 6: stay dialed.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yeah again, the same supplements as him, dude, Yeah you lee,
- 18:46Speaker 1: I don't think illegally it can.
- 18:47Speaker 3: By the way, yeah, we got too. I'm sure two
- 18:50Speaker 3: people who failed for ostering. Taylor failed for oustering as well.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Twenty nineteen, I had a trace amount in my dusted Yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 1: are you serious? And so I don't don't know what
- 19:00Speaker 1: your situation was. Like, I'll give you the quick brief.
- 19:02Speaker 2: One.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I was working with this nutritus in New York and
- 19:04Speaker 1: he gave me whole bunch of supplements to take and
- 19:06Speaker 1: then April I took a drug test. May like you popped,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and like the way the judicial system in the NFL
- 19:11Speaker 1: works is like, unless you can find the batch, you're out.
- 19:16Speaker 6: You just gave me anxiety.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Brother, I have that.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Stuff to do a couple of days before a fight.
- 19:20Speaker 2: But yeah, what was dude?
- 19:22Speaker 6: I I it was I when I get drug tests now,
- 19:26Speaker 6: I get so much anxiety every single time because the
- 19:30Speaker 6: same thing happened to me.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I tested.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I was like three weeks out from a fight. They
- 19:35Speaker 6: called me that you failed the drug test, and I
- 19:37Speaker 6: thought I was getting I didn't think I was. It
- 19:39Speaker 6: was serious. I'm like, I don't take anything that Like,
- 19:42Speaker 6: there's no way. And it was the same thing. Trace
- 19:44Speaker 6: amount picograms, which is like what a trillionth of a gram?
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, It's like it was taking a pinch of salt
- 19:49Speaker 1: and putting in an Olympic sized pool.
- 19:51Speaker 6: Yeah, so they said I tested for Austrian. I remember
- 19:55Speaker 6: just fucking crying. I'm like, there's I'm getting suspended for
- 19:59Speaker 6: taking something that I didn't take or at least intentionally,
- 20:01Speaker 6: because it was trace amounts, so it had to have
- 20:03Speaker 6: been in something I took and we never found out
- 20:07Speaker 6: where it came from either. So I got suspended and
- 20:09Speaker 6: I was out for a while, and that fucking broke
- 20:12Speaker 6: my heart. And uh I got a lot of shit
- 20:14Speaker 6: online from it, people saying you all you failed, you
- 20:17Speaker 6: saw it.
- 20:17Speaker 5: I'm like, you do.
- 20:18Speaker 6: I look like I'm on ship, dude, I'm like one
- 20:20Speaker 6: hundred and eight pounds soaking wet. So, uh, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 6: Thankfully I don't really get that hate anymore, because I
- 20:26Speaker 6: thought maybe that would linger around. But I think for
- 20:28Speaker 6: the most part, when when if you if you look
- 20:30Speaker 6: into it and it's trace amounts and it's like you
- 20:33Speaker 6: saw it came out and said, yeah, I mean there's
- 20:34Speaker 6: it's such a small amount, that's it. They actually changed
- 20:37Speaker 6: the law, changed the rule because Nate Diaz tested for something.
- 20:42Speaker 6: It wasn't austream, but it was something similar, and he
- 20:44Speaker 6: tested for under one hundred peacograms, So they changed the
- 20:47Speaker 6: after after my case it's which sucks because I still
- 20:50Speaker 6: got suspended. But after that they changed it that if
- 20:51Speaker 6: it's under a hundred peakograms, it's not as a failed test.
- 20:54Speaker 6: But that's crazy. That shit blew my fucking mind.
- 20:57Speaker 5: I was, Yeah, that's.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Why I wouldn't take a deep dive during the whole
- 21:00Speaker 1: austring thing, like trying to figure out what it's for.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's for osteoporosis, Like it's like not even regular like approved,
- 21:07Speaker 1: it's a It was a crazy thing for me that
- 21:09Speaker 1: I was like, I don't what was like the appeal
- 21:11Speaker 1: process like with the UFC, how did.
- 21:12Speaker 2: That even work?
- 21:13Speaker 6: Honestly? Like UFC, I mean I had conversations with them
- 21:18Speaker 6: to where I was like, guys, listen, I didn't take anything.
- 21:20Speaker 6: They're like, yeah, we know.
- 21:21Speaker 5: It's such a fuck.
- 21:22Speaker 6: It's such a small amount that there's just no way
- 21:24Speaker 6: you you did. And so they were trust they trusted me,
- 21:28Speaker 6: they believed me, and they helped me just kind of
- 21:30Speaker 6: get through it, and they you know, how to still
- 21:33Speaker 6: you know, abide by the USADA rules and stuff and
- 21:35Speaker 6: still just get suspended and stuff. But it actually I
- 21:37Speaker 6: got suspended twice for it because it was still in
- 21:39Speaker 6: my because I got tested again and it was still
- 21:41Speaker 6: in my system, Like that's fucked.
- 21:43Speaker 4: How far apart were the tests?
- 21:45Speaker 6: Well, I ended up getting tested like fifty something times
- 21:47Speaker 6: that year, so they were there was times that they're
- 21:49Speaker 6: test me back to back days and they were all
- 21:51Speaker 6: such low levels that it that they were they were confused.
- 21:57Speaker 6: They were like, I fucking know what to do, like
- 22:00Speaker 6: such a low amount, but it's technically still you gotta
- 22:02Speaker 6: we gotta test you and just yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So you ever figure out what supplement it was? No?
- 22:06Speaker 6: Never did, And I fucking yeah, every time I get
- 22:09Speaker 6: tested now to this day, I get fucking this anxiety
- 22:11Speaker 6: because I don't know where it came from. I don't
- 22:13Speaker 6: know if someone was fucking with me, Like my head
- 22:15Speaker 6: was going there. I'm like, there's jealous people at the gym.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Maybe maybe someone's fucking with me.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Could you imagine that?
- 22:23Speaker 2: Does that? Yeah?
- 22:24Speaker 6: You never know.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I mean even all NSF certified products, like if you
- 22:27Speaker 3: still test like it's still ultimately on the they're like, oh,
- 22:30Speaker 3: it's still your responsibility because.
- 22:32Speaker 1: You could you get report these are supplements And they
- 22:34Speaker 1: come to me and I'm in a wrestling meet watch
- 22:36Speaker 1: and they're like, what supplements you take, and I take
- 22:39Speaker 1: a ton of supplements right now.
- 22:40Speaker 6: They're all NSF certified. I've been very very strict on
- 22:43Speaker 6: that ever since that happened. I'm like making sure everything's
- 22:46Speaker 6: third party tested. But I mean, you take, you just
- 22:48Speaker 6: got to write every single one down when you took it,
- 22:51Speaker 6: how much you took.
- 22:52Speaker 5: I'm like, fuck, it's.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Wild when you catch hate on the internet for Aean,
- 22:57Speaker 1: you suck, You're not that good. They gave you an
- 22:59Speaker 1: easy raw because they want to make you like a
- 23:01Speaker 1: stuff like that that you can easily brush off. Yeah,
- 23:03Speaker 1: but when it comes to failing for a drug test,
- 23:05Speaker 1: now it's like, hey, you're a cheater.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 1: How is that mentally for you going through that?
- 23:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it was that was so long ago
- 23:12Speaker 6: now to where I you know, I only remember that
- 23:15Speaker 6: when I'm getting tested. It bugs me for a little bit,
- 23:17Speaker 6: but you know, it doesn't get brought up anymore. I
- 23:19Speaker 6: think that it kind of got It's just yeah, I
- 23:24Speaker 6: mean it's I'm sure now people are saying it again
- 23:26Speaker 6: that they get brought up here we go. Yeah, I
- 23:29Speaker 6: think it's it was such a small amount you sawt
- 23:31Speaker 6: of cleared me. I mean I still got suspended but
- 23:33Speaker 6: they changed the rule and it was it was looked
- 23:37Speaker 6: at as that was definitely a tainted supplement.
- 23:40Speaker 4: How do you see this fight going on Saturday?
- 23:43Speaker 6: You know, I keep saying I there, there's potential of
- 23:47Speaker 6: being a twenty five minute war. He's never been finished,
- 23:50Speaker 6: he's never been dropped. This dude is tough. But I
- 23:53Speaker 6: also I put people's lights out, and uh, you know
- 23:57Speaker 6: we're in Miami. I got pink shorts when I you know,
- 24:00Speaker 6: my hair is gonna be looking good.
- 24:01Speaker 5: It already is.
- 24:02Speaker 6: I'm feeling good. It's it's just my time. So I
- 24:05Speaker 6: do believe I go out there and put his lights out?
- 24:07Speaker 5: What round?
- 24:09Speaker 6: A lot of people are telling me third? You know,
- 24:11Speaker 6: I mean last fight, A lot of people when I
- 24:13Speaker 6: thought out Joe, I mean you start here, everyone tells you, hey,
- 24:16Speaker 6: I think so a lot of last fight was like, hey,
- 24:18Speaker 6: I think a second round knockout. Is hearing that from
- 24:20Speaker 6: a lot of people? Sure as shit put his lights
- 24:23Speaker 6: out in round two? Now I'm here in round three,
- 24:25Speaker 6: we'll see.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Bringing this interview full circle, you start the conversation talking
- 24:30Speaker 1: about Cheeto and how he's never been finished and it
- 24:33Speaker 1: could go twenty five minutes and all that and so
- 24:35Speaker 1: you talk about you might get gassed out and that's
- 24:37Speaker 1: how you get finished. How do you like go into
- 24:40Speaker 1: this fight? Do you take a little bit off, feel
- 24:42Speaker 1: it out for a little bit, not as balancing, not
- 24:44Speaker 1: as twitchy, or you kind of like see where he's
- 24:46Speaker 1: at and how he wants to approach it, or are
- 24:48Speaker 1: you full aggressive, gonna be yourself no matter what.
- 24:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gotta be myself. I can't go in there,
- 24:53Speaker 6: you know, and I just got to do what I've
- 24:56Speaker 6: been doing, and you know, trust the process. Whatever happened happens.
- 25:00Speaker 6: But uh, I do believe I'll put his lights out.
- 25:03Speaker 2: What is the uh visualization process for you?
- 25:06Speaker 3: Like when you get in the octagon, the cage closes,
- 25:10Speaker 3: I feel like I've seen stuff. You're heavy into the
- 25:13Speaker 3: breath work, the nasal breathing and everything else. Is that
- 25:15Speaker 3: something you lean on, like while you're walking in the
- 25:17Speaker 3: ring to kind of keep your emotions at bay until
- 25:20Speaker 3: the fight starts.
- 25:22Speaker 6: All day, all fight day, I mean I try to,
- 25:24Speaker 6: you know, kind of be sit with your breath, you know,
- 25:27Speaker 6: throughout every day, but fight days is a very breath
- 25:31Speaker 6: heavy following day. It just kind of keeps you keeps
- 25:34Speaker 6: you in the moment, keeps you ground, that keeps those
- 25:36Speaker 6: thoughts slowed down. So yeah, very you know, breathing being
- 25:41Speaker 6: where I'm at, feeling my breath into my belly, you know.
- 25:44Speaker 6: And if and I do think, which everyone does, it's
- 25:47Speaker 6: you know, too sharp, too fast, too focus. Is this
- 25:49Speaker 6: mantra over and over and over? Too sharp, too fast,
- 25:51Speaker 6: too focused? Following my breath. So it's a it's a
- 25:53Speaker 6: mixture between following my breath, saying that mantra, and uh,
- 25:57Speaker 6: you know, just just going with the flow.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Do we appreciate you? Man? Do you have anything else? Now?
- 26:01Speaker 4: I'm solidude. This is aweso unless you.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Got a word? Man? Oh yeah, yeah? How how's your spelling?
- 26:07Speaker 5: Not good?
- 26:07Speaker 2: Okay?
- 26:08Speaker 5: Good?
- 26:08Speaker 2: Okay good?
- 26:08Speaker 1: Because because I'm I'm basically hooked on PHONEX at this spell.
- 26:13Speaker 3: How do we do this though, JP, If it's one word,
- 26:15Speaker 3: it's not like they can both spell it out loud
- 26:17Speaker 3: that's at the same.
- 26:18Speaker 6: Time, unless unless you just don't say if he's right
- 26:22Speaker 6: or wrong? Well, I guess I don't know if that works.
- 26:25Speaker 4: We both get two separate words.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So we've been doing this thing at the shop where like, uh,
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm like horrendous at like my tweeting is always a
- 26:35Speaker 1: spelling error. JP is always testing me on words and
- 26:38Speaker 1: I cannot spell. So we're kind of starting this thing
- 26:41Speaker 1: where we're just gonna I'm competing against our guests now
- 26:44Speaker 1: in spelling bees.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm just trying to be better.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh fuck, I love that you're nervous because I am.
- 26:56Speaker 2: All right zero, So.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Your word is is accommodate, accommodate, accommodate.
- 27:12Speaker 2: H no, sir, let's get scruples on.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Oh wait wait.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Oh d a, these are ticks?
- 27:25Speaker 6: Right?
- 27:26Speaker 5: No?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Right, oh like that?
- 27:33Speaker 3: Ah, yes, you're missing uh you're missing an.
- 27:38Speaker 2: M two season two MS.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, so we both lost.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Both lost. That's all right, I'll take another word. Let's go.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I'm sure like on a Wednesday before you fight for
- 27:54Speaker 1: your ballad, You're like, I'd rather be doing so much
- 27:56Speaker 1: other ship right now?
- 27:57Speaker 6: This is so gay my journal every day I read
- 28:00Speaker 6: him back when I'm in fight camp. I look back
- 28:01Speaker 6: on it.
- 28:02Speaker 4: I'm like, what the said?
- 28:05Speaker 6: I don't even know how you can read this ship.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Let's go charcotery.
- 28:11Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I might just skip that one.
- 28:16Speaker 2: All right, let's go.
- 28:18Speaker 6: I got zero, I got nothing.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Let's go and necessary.
- 28:22Speaker 5: Oh fuck, I.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Know I text that in a word. I'm like I
- 28:25Speaker 6: just played for just.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Every time I say fuck.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Necessary, this is embarrassing. That is not correct.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Correct.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I are you gonna take down the bandamweight champion of
- 28:40Speaker 3: the world.
- 28:42Speaker 2: How'd you spell it? No?
- 28:43Speaker 4: No, you gotta go, you gotta go necessary.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Cross it out. I just try to sound it out.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, n E C.
- 28:52Speaker 5: E s s hy damn.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Undefeated is one.
- 28:57Speaker 2: In twelve one in twelve.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Starts offt Willie Cheeto.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Man it is.
- 29:10Speaker 3: We were just before the uh this episode talking about
- 29:13Speaker 3: how we were sitting in the green room before before
- 29:16Speaker 3: Shane show, but fast forwarding until today. You got a
- 29:20Speaker 3: massive fight coming up Saturday. How how are the vibes?
- 29:24Speaker 3: How you feeling right now? I feel like you got
- 29:26Speaker 3: a different look every time we see you. Kind of
- 29:27Speaker 3: got like the the hispanic Wolverine going on right now.
- 29:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I like to change them and I really tried
- 29:34Speaker 5: to done be the same every fight. And this is
- 29:38Speaker 5: a huge, massive moment for my life, for my career.
- 29:41Speaker 5: On Saturday night is gonna be my first word title,
- 29:44Speaker 5: which I'm fucking excited. Man, I'm ready and I've been
- 29:49Speaker 5: dreaming to this my whole life. And there's been ten
- 29:51Speaker 5: years with the UFC, and I work my way up
- 29:55Speaker 5: to the Wrangkins and I'm here now. So Saturday night,
- 29:58Speaker 5: we're kicking some ass.
- 29:59Speaker 3: You said, you've said before that winning being a world
- 30:03Speaker 3: champion seems impossible once upon a time. What does it
- 30:06Speaker 3: feel like saying that now? Thinking about that comment, now
- 30:10Speaker 3: going into a title fight, your first one in your career.
- 30:13Speaker 5: It feels like a dream. It feels like I used
- 30:16Speaker 5: to just think about this moment my whole lefe and
- 30:18Speaker 5: come on, keep winning, keep trying to figure it out,
- 30:21Speaker 5: keep try to both. And now that I'm here, I'm
- 30:25Speaker 5: I'm just extremely grateful with the opportunity because not everybody
- 30:28Speaker 5: get to fight for a world title. There's so many
- 30:30Speaker 5: fighters that fought through the years. I never get to
- 30:33Speaker 5: break to the top ten, never get to break to
- 30:35Speaker 5: the top five. I'd even better never go to fight
- 30:38Speaker 5: for a world title. So I'm I'm just full of Joe,
- 30:42Speaker 5: and I'm happy and I'm gonna make it happen.
- 30:45Speaker 1: When when you sit here on Wednesday knowing that you're
- 30:47Speaker 1: finally fighting for a title, and you're fighting at somebody
- 30:50Speaker 1: that you've technically beaten. Where are your nerves are compared
- 30:53Speaker 1: to like your usual fights, Because this is the biggest
- 30:56Speaker 1: fight of your life right now.
- 30:57Speaker 5: This is everything is more magnified. Like you go to
- 31:01Speaker 5: bed just thinking about it, you wake up thinking about it,
- 31:04Speaker 5: you wake up in the middle of the night thinking
- 31:06Speaker 5: about it. And it's how you handle it. I mean,
- 31:09Speaker 5: there's everything is just more it's bigger, it's more extreme.
- 31:13Speaker 5: It's just this is the biggest moment of my life
- 31:16Speaker 5: and I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna make it happen,
- 31:19Speaker 5: and I'm gonna I'm just let it go by. I'm
- 31:22Speaker 5: enjoying the moment. I'm happy with what I am today
- 31:25Speaker 5: and on Saturday, I'm changing my life.
- 31:28Speaker 1: How do you temper the expectation like like a like
- 31:31Speaker 1: week one in the NFL, it's always like you get
- 31:33Speaker 1: excited because you're out of camp and then you're so
- 31:35Speaker 1: excited to go play. It's a different opponent. They have
- 31:37Speaker 1: this phrase like you're gonna blow your load too early
- 31:40Speaker 1: and then you're going hardest hell in practice on Wednesday.
- 31:42Speaker 1: By the time of the Sunday, your legs are a
- 31:43Speaker 1: little more tired. Like man, I kind of left lest
- 31:46Speaker 1: some rounds.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Yeah, no, ill feel you. This fight was announcing in November.
- 31:51Speaker 5: So we plan camp really good. We start, we start slow,
- 31:56Speaker 5: we start picking up the base and the Pretty much
- 32:01Speaker 5: the last two months, I've been in top shape. I've
- 32:05Speaker 5: been My running times were great, my sparings were great,
- 32:09Speaker 5: and we just keep bringing new sporting partners every week,
- 32:12Speaker 5: new sporting partners, new sporting partners. Like I had my
- 32:16Speaker 5: time to do my distance running from since November, so
- 32:19Speaker 5: I was running fifteen miles every Sunday. I was just
- 32:23Speaker 5: prepping my diet god down in early which I have
- 32:27Speaker 5: never had a problem in the past, but I just
- 32:29Speaker 5: tried to figure that how it can be better. My hyperbaric,
- 32:32Speaker 5: my seabag protocols. Everything was just dial in and it's
- 32:36Speaker 5: gonna pay it off. It's gonna pay it off because
- 32:39Speaker 5: I did everything leading to this point that I'm looking
- 32:42Speaker 5: back and I'm cool with everything I did.
- 32:44Speaker 3: How do you keep that that slow burn, as Taylor
- 32:47Speaker 3: was referring to, with like now we're just a few
- 32:50Speaker 3: days out, so you've had the time to train a
- 32:52Speaker 3: camp and being the week of it's like I'm sitting
- 32:54Speaker 3: here in my heart rate is sitting in ninety eight
- 32:56Speaker 3: right now, Like my heart's beating, just thinking like, yo,
- 32:58Speaker 3: this fight's coming and we're still a few days out,
- 33:00Speaker 3: but like knowing that, you know, I've listened to one
- 33:03Speaker 3: of your recent interviews to where you were talking about
- 33:06Speaker 3: when you first came in, you're just trying to win
- 33:08Speaker 3: a fight so you can pay another make it another
- 33:10Speaker 3: month in the US before going back, And now you're
- 33:12Speaker 3: sitting here and it's like, how do you resist the
- 33:14Speaker 3: earth to you know, not get over hyped by come
- 33:17Speaker 3: fight night.
- 33:18Speaker 5: I feel like meditating. I'm visualizing a lot when I'm
- 33:23Speaker 5: on my own, when I'm on my solo time, when
- 33:25Speaker 5: no one's around me, I just that's my time to
- 33:28Speaker 5: like cool down, kind of like put all my emotions
- 33:31Speaker 5: togethers just close my eyes and just see the good,
- 33:35Speaker 5: see really bad the scenarios to see how I can
- 33:38Speaker 5: react to it. And then I like to what I
- 33:42Speaker 5: really like to see is my feet on the campus
- 33:44Speaker 5: when I entering the catch the first time and just
- 33:47Speaker 5: be like that feeling makes me feel like very nervous,
- 33:51Speaker 5: and then I go, Okay, it's okay, it's okay, You've
- 33:55Speaker 5: been here before, just do it again. And I've feel
- 34:00Speaker 5: like this week is it's just slow. Like we train,
- 34:04Speaker 5: but we don't train too much. We hit the meat,
- 34:07Speaker 5: we grapple a little bit, but it's just to keep
- 34:09Speaker 5: the sweat going, the flood blowing, and like like you said,
- 34:14Speaker 5: like don't burn the candle too quick. You just gotta
- 34:16Speaker 5: like just relax because emotions, even if you don't train
- 34:19Speaker 5: and you're doing everything properly, your emotions can burn you.
- 34:22Speaker 5: So just just making sure I keep the same circle.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Not new energies, no new souls, this far from from
- 34:30Speaker 5: this close of fight. Just keeping the right people around me.
- 34:33Speaker 5: That also helped me to stay nice and calm.
- 34:35Speaker 1: When you're talking about your camp and protocols and how
- 34:39Speaker 1: all that stuff works earlier, what.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Is like your go to protocol?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Is there something you do on a day to day
- 34:44Speaker 1: basis regardless, there's no wavering from what I do well.
- 34:48Speaker 5: I do a nice but almost every morning as soon
- 34:52Speaker 5: as I wake up, and then there's all there's a
- 34:55Speaker 5: few ways to do with mix it up with eyes
- 34:57Speaker 5: and saua, depending on what you want, if you want recovery,
- 35:00Speaker 5: if you wanna boost the station, if you want to
- 35:02Speaker 5: like release stems or whatever. So I do all that
- 35:05Speaker 5: I have that at home. I just bought a hyperbolic
- 35:08Speaker 5: chamber for my home too, so I don't have to
- 35:10Speaker 5: drive to get in the chamber, so I can spa
- 35:13Speaker 5: and go straight to recovery and then the SIVA to
- 35:18Speaker 5: get my card better promote more red blood cells. All
- 35:21Speaker 5: that is like I do that year around with or
- 35:24Speaker 5: without fight. There's protocols that are from art of camp.
- 35:28Speaker 5: There's protocols when you are in come to like go
- 35:31Speaker 5: to a top shape, and all that plays a big
- 35:34Speaker 5: influence on my life, like help me to recovery. And
- 35:38Speaker 5: for me, it's all about my brain. I want my
- 35:41Speaker 5: brain to be the best when I retire. I wanna
- 35:44Speaker 5: be able to take care of my family, to be
- 35:46Speaker 5: able to see my kids grow. So and the way
- 35:50Speaker 5: I fight, I fight pretty fucking hard, so I need
- 35:52Speaker 5: to be I need to be good. So all that
- 35:54Speaker 5: really helped me just to add another gear to my game.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Hey, without everything not that too. Staying on top of
- 36:01Speaker 1: that brain stuff.
- 36:02Speaker 2: You take a lot of pride in that.
- 36:04Speaker 5: I take a lot of pride in my hard work
- 36:06Speaker 5: and everything I do leading to fights, and the way
- 36:10Speaker 5: I eat. Everything I put in my body is like
- 36:13Speaker 5: it's just everything comes from the from the earth. I
- 36:16Speaker 5: don't do nothing, process nothing with chem because I don't
- 36:20Speaker 5: really cheat and I don't even miss eating like ship.
- 36:24Speaker 5: I'm just ice cream.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Everybody misses ice cream like I, but believe it or not,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't really.
- 36:31Speaker 5: I do like once every two months I eat like
- 36:35Speaker 5: like I give myself like one of those things like
- 36:38Speaker 5: if I if I eat a bag of dry mango, I'm.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Cool, solid like health Yeah, Blizzard bro like that's.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Dry pen apple. I can I can eat that every day.
- 36:52Speaker 4: I've never Yeah, he's just he's.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Drive food is the ship?
- 36:59Speaker 1: When you were eating like ship it what was like
- 37:00Speaker 1: your go to? Like I got it this is I.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Would breakfast McDonald's almost every day when I was in
- 37:06Speaker 5: Mickey No, what was it was the muffins right, yeah,
- 37:11Speaker 5: the that with fries nine in the morning in the
- 37:17Speaker 5: morning when I get it right.
- 37:21Speaker 4: And you don't miss it.
- 37:21Speaker 5: But checking this out, I didn't know that wasn't healthy
- 37:24Speaker 5: when I was when when I was growing up, I
- 37:26Speaker 5: thought that was that.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Was just yeah. I was like, I'm let's go on
- 37:31Speaker 2: the body.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I'm gonna go ten. You want to stop real quick,
- 37:35Speaker 5: let's go with joint McDonald's And thinking that's normal. But
- 37:40Speaker 5: now I'm like I passed by MacDonald's. I'm like, funck
- 37:43Speaker 5: you when I heard my life. Yeah, dude, going.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Back to where you talk about visualizing and stepping in
- 37:49Speaker 3: the octagon, your feet hitting the canvas, the gate closing,
- 37:52Speaker 3: how do you what.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Is the what is the protocol of the preparation?
- 37:54Speaker 3: There is a focus like focusing on breath work and
- 37:57Speaker 3: not getting too high in the moment because clearly it's
- 37:59Speaker 3: going to just the peak of every you know, every
- 38:02Speaker 3: match you've ever been in.
- 38:04Speaker 5: I feel like you just have to like one that
- 38:07Speaker 5: when does God start fighting, you just have to use
- 38:10Speaker 5: that fire to almost warm you up instead of just
- 38:13Speaker 5: like feeling it here because on that moment we all
- 38:16Speaker 5: feel weak, and that moment will feel like, oh I'm
- 38:19Speaker 5: not ready, Oh I don't want to be here. But
- 38:21Speaker 5: as you your mind playing tricks and you and then
- 38:23Speaker 5: you go like, you know what, this is part of
- 38:25Speaker 5: the deal, this part of the what happened before I fight?
- 38:29Speaker 5: So and then when you start warming up, just like
- 38:32Speaker 5: I personally just get mean, I just go sweep the
- 38:36Speaker 5: sweep the fleet the was it switch?
- 38:39Speaker 2: The switch there?
- 38:41Speaker 5: You rather? I lost my English for a second and
- 38:44Speaker 5: then I just go I'm mean, I'm red. I'm like,
- 38:49Speaker 5: I don't care. I mean, I know I'm ready to
- 38:52Speaker 5: do that. And that just comes like early, ten minutes
- 38:55Speaker 5: before I do the walk, i just go pop and
- 38:58Speaker 5: I'm cool. I'm like, right now, I don't give a
- 39:00Speaker 5: fuck about nothing. I'm just I'm just going.
- 39:04Speaker 1: How are you able to achieve that, the ability to
- 39:06Speaker 1: flip the switch? Like, was that a thing that you
- 39:08Speaker 1: had the minute you stepped in the octagon for the
- 39:10Speaker 1: first time, the minute you found martial arts or was
- 39:12Speaker 1: that a deal that over time and learning.
- 39:15Speaker 5: I feel that was fighting on the streets since a
- 39:19Speaker 5: very early age, Like I was the smallest guy in
- 39:22Speaker 5: the room, the skeennest one, and I used to no
- 39:26Speaker 5: one will pick on me, but I would be like
- 39:28Speaker 5: a little fucking monkey's poking everybody. And I will get
- 39:31Speaker 5: a slap sometimes and I will be like, ah, fuck you.
- 39:34Speaker 5: And I used to learn how to fight early because
- 39:37Speaker 5: I would start fights for no reason and I got
- 39:40Speaker 5: my ass kids so many times, and I just kept coming.
- 39:43Speaker 5: I kept coming, kept coming, kept coming, And probably that
- 39:47Speaker 5: really helps.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Do you even think about the first fight with with Sugar,
- 39:52Speaker 3: knowing that it ended in the first round, the way
- 39:54Speaker 3: it did well.
- 39:55Speaker 5: I rewatched it, and the things I remember from being
- 39:59Speaker 5: in there is just like there's one thing the world
- 40:02Speaker 5: can see, the coaches or people on TV. It's just
- 40:06Speaker 5: like you can. You can feel your opponents soul and
- 40:10Speaker 5: energy when you're in there. And the thing I can say,
- 40:15Speaker 5: he don't have a heart energy, He don't have a heart,
- 40:17Speaker 5: so like you can see through him and he's a
- 40:20Speaker 5: great athlete, that doesn't mean he cannot beat you. That's
- 40:22Speaker 5: why people sometimes fall into like, oh, you're not that good,
- 40:26Speaker 5: and boom they get punched. I'm not thinking like that,
- 40:29Speaker 5: but I'm also feeling you and you're not a hard motherfucker.
- 40:32Speaker 5: You're the one that will crumble if you have to.
- 40:35Speaker 5: And that's something I know you're saying.
- 40:37Speaker 1: His foundation is not as solid as he seems, not
- 40:40Speaker 1: at all when you with his tactics as far as
- 40:43Speaker 1: being on the microphone, how do you mentally? Does that
- 40:46Speaker 1: phase you in any way, shape or form.
- 40:48Speaker 5: I don't. I'm not a big reader of opinions or comments,
- 40:53Speaker 5: and I'm not a guy that like to engage in
- 40:55Speaker 5: social media. Like I'm not the guy that will be like,
- 40:58Speaker 5: for example, let's see two weeks from now, you guys
- 41:02Speaker 5: are hanging out with him, and I feel offended of that.
- 41:05Speaker 5: Most guys that feel like that there are pussies because
- 41:09Speaker 5: they get they get they get to they get too
- 41:11Speaker 5: quick on a on the like, oh I thought we
- 41:15Speaker 5: were cool, but you're hanging and they go on line
- 41:17Speaker 5: and like, fuck those guys. I don't do that. I like,
- 41:21Speaker 5: I just don't do that. And when someone is talking
- 41:23Speaker 5: shit to me or like saying something about me, I'm
- 41:25Speaker 5: just like, cool dude. But I guarantee you this. If
- 41:29Speaker 5: we're in a clothes room and you took ship that close,
- 41:32Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna fight you. I don't care who
- 41:35Speaker 5: you are, what you do. But also, in the other hand,
- 41:37Speaker 5: I've been cool to everybody. I'm not trying to start
- 41:39Speaker 5: nothing with no one. But if you took shit and
- 41:41Speaker 5: we're close enough, we're going.
- 41:43Speaker 2: But if you so.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Social media is one thing, but Sean himself, how when
- 41:48Speaker 1: he's your opponent that you're gonna be going up against
- 41:50Speaker 1: and he's he's saying some nasty things, how do you
- 41:53Speaker 1: compartmentalize that when you're going in the octagon with him?
- 41:56Speaker 5: I really ignore it all. I really don't. You will
- 41:59Speaker 5: never see him engaging with him online. I never reply
- 42:02Speaker 5: hit and there. I would throw a nice fucking body shirt.
- 42:05Speaker 5: But I don't have time, Like I got cool things
- 42:09Speaker 5: to do, bro, Like I got a lot of fun
- 42:11Speaker 5: things around my life that I just don't have the
- 42:14Speaker 5: time to engage with anybody. And then when it's five time,
- 42:18Speaker 5: doesn't matter what you say, I want to kill your
- 42:20Speaker 5: regardless if you were nice, if you were a bad guy,
- 42:23Speaker 5: doesn't matter to me.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Yeah, do you ever feel the noise, like the external stuff,
- 42:28Speaker 3: like when you are the underdog or like with Sean
- 42:31Speaker 3: winning the belt, it's gonna be the sugar air and
- 42:33Speaker 3: everything else and you're the first title defense. Do you
- 42:36Speaker 3: ever hear any of that noise or feel any of that?
- 42:39Speaker 5: I try my best to say away from the nose,
- 42:41Speaker 5: aways from the cloud, because all this is temporary. All
- 42:45Speaker 5: these one day will be gone. There will be new guys,
- 42:48Speaker 5: new fighters, new champions. So I do my best and
- 42:51Speaker 5: enjoy the moment and making sure I invest my money right.
- 42:55Speaker 5: The rest it will just pass by, like a few
- 42:58Speaker 5: years from now will be nice and hour.
- 43:01Speaker 1: It seems like you got your head on straight, like
- 43:03Speaker 1: understanding that just because this is your time now, doesn't
- 43:06Speaker 1: mean in ten fifteen years, like unless you make a
- 43:09Speaker 1: big dan, you'll be essentially forgotten, like we all are
- 43:12Speaker 1: in our sport. How do you like being present? Is
- 43:15Speaker 1: that something you've always had the ability to possess or
- 43:18Speaker 1: is that something you've learned with success and failures?
- 43:21Speaker 5: A little bit of both. I was I wasn't the
- 43:24Speaker 5: guy that was too attached to like, oh that's pretty
- 43:28Speaker 5: for the club and that's pretty like to hung out
- 43:30Speaker 5: with these guys. Like somehow, for some reason, the cool
- 43:34Speaker 5: guys always called me out, he come join the group
- 43:37Speaker 5: or come to this party, come to And I also
- 43:40Speaker 5: grew up with other guys that were like willing to
- 43:43Speaker 5: do anything to be part of that. And I'm like,
- 43:45Speaker 5: that's probably the reason you will never be part of that.
- 43:48Speaker 5: And to me, it's just I just think like this,
- 43:51Speaker 5: I want to win because I feel I'm a winner,
- 43:55Speaker 5: and I want to make a chill load of money
- 43:57Speaker 5: because I want to invest it, and then after that

- 44:03Speaker 5: something like this, join you guys, but like I'm not
- 44:05Speaker 5: the boys. I'm not too worried about like I mean,
- 44:09Speaker 5: it's the word is fucking now with all the fame
- 44:12Speaker 5: and weird TikTok and everything is illegal and fuck that.
- 44:16Speaker 5: So I'm not I'm not really trying to be part
- 44:19Speaker 5: of that group. I'm trying to be more in this group.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Yeah, how's your how's your family feeling? When it becomes
- 44:26Speaker 3: the weak of the fight.
- 44:28Speaker 5: They're nervous, man, there, I can feel it, but usually
- 44:31Speaker 5: it is what it is. You get into a fist fight, dude.
- 44:34Speaker 5: You know, the family get nervous. But by now they're
- 44:38Speaker 5: kind of experience with it. They know how to handle it.
- 44:41Speaker 5: But I get it. It's still hard for them.
- 44:44Speaker 2: I mean, it's for the belt.
- 44:46Speaker 5: It's big, bro, it's big. And my kids are excited,
- 44:49Speaker 5: My wife is excited, my my family from sometimes they
- 44:53Speaker 5: don't really travel for a fight because it's expensive. This time, family,
- 44:59Speaker 5: the whole fi. You should have a good crowd, is
- 45:02Speaker 5: I believe if I will have a crazy crowd, dude,
- 45:05Speaker 5: like just in immediate forty eight credentials that never happened

- 45:17Speaker 5: two girls and decide two girls.
- 45:19Speaker 1: We got a girl dad on our hands. Folks, before
- 45:22Speaker 1: having kids the mindset of the brain and everything, and
- 45:25Speaker 1: then now, like, is there a different feeling going into
- 45:27Speaker 1: the octagon. I know you flip the switch, but knowing that, like, hey,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I got kids, that I worry about my head and
- 45:32Speaker 1: making sure everything's all good, I never crossed your mind.
- 45:36Speaker 5: I feel like having kids, what really what brought me
- 45:40Speaker 5: to where I am today? Like I feel if I
- 45:42Speaker 5: wouldn't have kids, I would probably be drinking beer right
- 45:46Speaker 5: now and smoking cigarettes. But like, yeah, but like my
- 45:50Speaker 5: kids really brought me. Sometimes they say the kid came
- 45:55Speaker 5: with the bread underneath the arm. I feel they, especially

- 46:01Speaker 5: heard my whole life is I just put my head
- 46:04Speaker 5: down and just work until today. I don't want left,
