- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line, second and eight three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion, has Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown. Sayhawks,
- 0:19Speaker 1: it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and the kid
- 0:26Speaker 1: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:29Speaker 1: this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com Talk, greekap Edish
- 0:35Speaker 1: and the Seahawks beat down the Jets forty to three,
- 0:39Speaker 1: exactly what we all wanted. And let's get into the
- 0:43Speaker 1: trenches right now with Big Ray. See how he feels.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk
- 0:51Speaker 1: Ray Roberts. Big Ray, they did what they were supposed
- 0:56Speaker 1: to do. How do you feel about this win? You
- 0:59Speaker 1: know what I was thinking about this, uh this morning.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I went back last night, watched some of the film
- 1:04Speaker 1: and just kind of looked over my notes from the
- 1:06Speaker 1: postgame comments, and I think this game, like you said,
- 1:12Speaker 1: they did what they're supposed to do to win the game.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Doesn't really make a statement, but the loser game would
- 1:17Speaker 1: have U. And then out of the postgame interviews, the
- 1:23Speaker 1: words I heard were processed, which means that the defense
- 1:26Speaker 1: and the offense that created a process that they're willing
- 1:29Speaker 1: to go through and put themselves through each week to
- 1:31Speaker 1: make sure that they're prepared uh for the game. Uh.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And then from that process I heard the word trust uh.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And you know, and I know that like in any
- 1:40Speaker 1: type of relationship, especially one where you're depending on someone
- 1:44Speaker 1: else heavily, that trust is a big thing and it
- 1:47Speaker 1: allows you to play free when you can trust the
- 1:50Speaker 1: other the other people around you. Um. And then also
- 1:54Speaker 1: the third thing was perspective. I think they really kept
- 1:57Speaker 1: this game in prospective. They didn't get too high. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: think this is maybe one of the times where I
- 2:03Speaker 1: totally agree with Russell and his mutuality, uh, you know
- 2:08Speaker 1: way of going about things where you don't get too
- 2:10Speaker 1: high or get too low. I think that the that
- 2:12Speaker 1: they did a really good job of really re establishing
- 2:15Speaker 1: who they are. And then the big test will be
- 2:17Speaker 1: if they can repeat that over and over. Yeah, that
- 2:20Speaker 1: will be nice to repeat over and over I agree
- 2:22Speaker 1: with you, Ray, It's kind of like, yeah, we went out,
- 2:24Speaker 1: we beat a team who was struggling. We did what
- 2:27Speaker 1: we were supposed to do. But let's let's keep it
- 2:29Speaker 1: in perspective. We're supposed to do that. This is who
- 2:32Speaker 1: we are. Now, let's talk about this offensive line. Man,
- 2:34Speaker 1: they didn't give um any sacks. So does that speak
- 2:37Speaker 1: to the performance of that offensive line or do you
- 2:40Speaker 1: think play calling had a bit to do with it
- 2:42Speaker 1: or a mix of both. I think is a mix
- 2:44Speaker 1: of both. To just say that, you know, the offensive
- 2:47Speaker 1: line just in and of itself, you know, dominated and
- 2:51Speaker 1: made it hard for the for those guys who get
- 2:53Speaker 1: to the quarterback wouldn't be true. I think throwing some
- 2:56Speaker 1: of those quicker routes, you know, trying to throw some screens,
- 2:59Speaker 1: throw on those moat screens out to the receivers on
- 3:01Speaker 1: the on the edge, sometimes those plays having beared a
- 3:05Speaker 1: whole lot of fruit. But what it does is it
- 3:07Speaker 1: makes the pass rush has to think twice, you know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: on their way to the quarterback. It frustrates the defensive
- 3:12Speaker 1: line because they're they're trying to get to the quarterback
- 3:15Speaker 1: as best they can and giving it all. They're all
- 3:17Speaker 1: and then the ball is gone in like two you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: one second, the ball is gone. And so I think
- 3:22Speaker 1: the play calling, UH incorporating the run where you get
- 3:25Speaker 1: to take some of the steam out of the speed
- 3:27Speaker 1: of the pass rush also helped, UH. And so I
- 3:31Speaker 1: think it was a combination of all of it. The
- 3:33Speaker 1: thing I like about it though, is that, UM it
- 3:36Speaker 1: then made it possible to recognize the offensive line because
- 3:41Speaker 1: of some of the seal struggles. UM, it's easy to
- 3:45Speaker 1: look at the offensive line and say, oh, well, Russell
- 3:47Speaker 1: got hit this many times, so we gave up this
- 3:49Speaker 1: many sacks or uh, you know, our yards to carry
- 3:52Speaker 1: or whatever of it is down. But if you look
- 3:54Speaker 1: over the over the season, this offensive line has been
- 3:57Speaker 1: really consistent. Even when Shell went down. You know, Cedric
- 4:00Speaker 1: had a tough time, but Micol Jones played really good football,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know, a couple of weeks ago, and so they've
- 4:06Speaker 1: been playing really good football. I looked over the film
- 4:08Speaker 1: again tonight, um, this morning, and then I'm gonna tell you, man,
- 4:12Speaker 1: Damian Lewis is on his way to be in UH
- 4:15Speaker 1: an All Pro and Pro bowler at guard. The dude
- 4:19Speaker 1: had a really solid football game in the past. Pass
- 4:22Speaker 1: detection and in the run game. So I'm really pleased
- 4:24Speaker 1: with how those dudes are planned. I'm glad that people
- 4:27Speaker 1: are starting to recognize just how he's fishing and how
- 4:29Speaker 1: good they are. Yeah, in sticking with that online Ray
- 4:32Speaker 1: Brandon Shell missed a game, if he misses another game,
- 4:34Speaker 1: are you are you okay with that? How their backups doing?
- 4:37Speaker 1: Do you feel like they'll be able to move forward?
- 4:39Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be a challenge this week if
- 4:41Speaker 1: Shell isn't in there and you don't have DeMarco Jamarco Jones.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think the two of those those guys are the
- 4:48Speaker 1: best at the right tackle spot. I think if any
- 4:52Speaker 1: of the other backups that are gonna be in there,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and if they're moving Chase Young all around, and they
- 4:57Speaker 1: have my man's sweat as well against on that Washington
- 5:02Speaker 1: football team. Because the front, it's gonna be tough. Man,
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's gonna be tough for all the guys up there.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Dwayne Brown included. You know, Uh, those guys can really
- 5:09Speaker 1: get after the quarterback and they play well. That front
- 5:12Speaker 1: seven places well against the run. So this it was
- 5:14Speaker 1: a good tune up for this UM team yesterday to
- 5:20Speaker 1: be ready for this real challenge that they're gonna have.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's almost like they got a pop quiz before the
- 5:24Speaker 1: final exam. And so not that the Washington football team
- 5:28Speaker 1: is the final exam, but it is an exam. Let's
- 5:31Speaker 1: switch over the defense. Now. The defense has been playing
- 5:33Speaker 1: well the last one two or three weeks. What do
- 5:35Speaker 1: you think the main reason for that is? You know what,
- 5:38Speaker 1: like you know, being a former football player, you know
- 5:41Speaker 1: in the NFL, you know, I've been in a lot
- 5:44Speaker 1: of the player only meetings, and I've been in a
- 5:46Speaker 1: lot of these kind of hey, let's get it right
- 5:49Speaker 1: meetings with coaches, and so you tend to kind of
- 5:52Speaker 1: discount them a little bit. But from what I was
- 5:54Speaker 1: hearing in the postgame comments, kJ Wright came out and said,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I liked those meet I like getting up. It creates energy,
- 6:02Speaker 1: it creates trust, and uh and I think that has
- 6:05Speaker 1: been a difference man, the accountability of meetings, like what
- 6:08Speaker 1: are you doing on this play call? Where where do
- 6:10Speaker 1: you fit? How do I fit? And then how do
- 6:12Speaker 1: we you know, execute this together? And so then you
- 6:15Speaker 1: know you heard, uh Shaquille Griffin say the same thing
- 6:18Speaker 1: like that, those meetings mean means so much because you
- 6:22Speaker 1: have without a shadow of a doubt that when you
- 6:24Speaker 1: make a call or you fit where you're supposed to fit,
- 6:26Speaker 1: that the other guy's going to be where he's supposed
- 6:28Speaker 1: to be. And I think that really is a big
- 6:31Speaker 1: catalyst to how they're planning along with you know, getting
- 6:34Speaker 1: done Lap you know, came in and created a spark
- 6:36Speaker 1: and helped, you know, elevate the pass rush. And then
- 6:39Speaker 1: Jamal Adams was healthy, and then and then the one
- 6:42Speaker 1: player that I think hasn't been getting enough credit even
- 6:45Speaker 1: though we try to every now and then, it's kJ Wright.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Kna Wright is bi subsistent all year. He's been making plays.
- 6:51Speaker 1: He's been popping off the screen, you know, interceptions, tackles,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you can't run a screen against him. Almost had another
- 6:56Speaker 1: interception yesterday, broke up a couple of passes, made some
- 7:00Speaker 1: big tackles in the run game. And he may not
- 7:03Speaker 1: jump off the screen like like a Jamal Adams, but
- 7:06Speaker 1: if you look at the consistency of how he's planned
- 7:08Speaker 1: to do this plan at a at a Pro Bowl,
- 7:10Speaker 1: all pro level, I agree, man, kJ consistent, reliable, always
- 7:15Speaker 1: making a play. Now, what what are your thoughts on
- 7:18Speaker 1: this team at this point, this point of the season.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Are they a Super Bowl contender? You think they'll make
- 7:23Speaker 1: a run overall feelings of the Seattle Seahawks right now,
- 7:27Speaker 1: my my heart tells me that absolutely they're a super
- 7:32Speaker 1: Bowl contender, and they're they're capable of winning a Super
- 7:35Speaker 1: Bowl because you know, you have ballers on both sides.
- 7:38Speaker 1: You know, I've already I've already kind of talked about
- 7:40Speaker 1: the guys and the weapons we have on offense last week,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and you think about it. On defense, you have kJ
- 7:45Speaker 1: Wright who's a Pro Bowl type player. You have uh,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, Bobby Wagner who's an all time great middle linebacker.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You have Jamal Adams, you know, just set the sack
- 7:55Speaker 1: record for for dbs uh in a in a single season.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You have Shaquille Griffin who is a Pro Bowl type corner.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You have a Dunbar on the back end who's also
- 8:04Speaker 1: a Pro Bowl type guy. So you have all the pieces.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So your heart says, like, man, why can't they win
- 8:10Speaker 1: the Super Bowl? But then, but then my mind says,
- 8:13Speaker 1: what about Washington football team? You know, like like what
- 8:16Speaker 1: about what about taking that exam? And then there's a
- 8:19Speaker 1: few other exams to take after that, And so I
- 8:22Speaker 1: think how they play, especially on the road. Um uh,
- 8:26Speaker 1: This week will speak volumes to whether or not they're
- 8:29Speaker 1: gonna be a one and done in the playoffs or
- 8:31Speaker 1: they're gonna be able to make a deep run into playoffs.
- 8:34Speaker 1: All right, well you heard it first, some big Ray.
- 8:36Speaker 1: They just got to know the pop quiz. Now they
- 8:38Speaker 1: got the exam coming up. Let's see if it is
- 8:41Speaker 1: a pass or a fail, Big Ray, appreciate your time, man, Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 1: no problem, big done piece. All right, man, Nasa Chelby,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Seahawks got are done. Let's figure out what happened. See
- 8:55Speaker 1: what happened at first? What had happened was on Harknock.
- 9:03Speaker 1: What had happened was the Seahawks are back in the
- 9:06Speaker 1: win column, destroying the Jets forty to three at Looming
- 9:10Speaker 1: Field and bump, man, it feels good. It feels good
- 9:13Speaker 1: to be where you're supposed to be. It feels good
- 9:15Speaker 1: to beat the teams you were supposed to beat, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks did exactly that on Sunday. I mean, it
- 9:21Speaker 1: was his domination starting to finish. This is the biggest
- 9:23Speaker 1: Seahawks margin of victory since they beat the Cardinals fifty
- 9:26Speaker 1: eight to zero and twenty twelve, the run game had
- 9:29Speaker 1: to go on. Russell Wilson had to go into the
- 9:31Speaker 1: past game. It just felt right, Bump. It felt like
- 9:33Speaker 1: the game plan that they had was good for this game.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It felt like they executed. It just felt like everything
- 9:38Speaker 1: that they were supposed to do happen on Sunday. So
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's refreshing to see those guys get that done. Nice
- 9:43Speaker 1: to see him get it done. They rushed for one
- 9:45Speaker 1: hundred seventy four yards on thirty six carries. I really
- 9:48Speaker 1: liked the balance between Chris Carson and Carlos Hide. Obviously,
- 9:53Speaker 1: thirty two is the guy. He's gonna touch the rock first,
- 9:55Speaker 1: but after that, if Carlos High comes in, he's good
- 9:57Speaker 1: to go. He still had sixty something yards, Carlos High
- 10:00Speaker 1: had had seventy six. Is one of the best won
- 10:03Speaker 1: two combinations in the league. They're not gonna value with
- 10:05Speaker 1: their stats, obviously, just because of how the Hawks throw
- 10:08Speaker 1: the football and then Carson being out and Carlins had
- 10:10Speaker 1: have been out. But they are getting healthy at the
- 10:13Speaker 1: right time and it was nice to see them established
- 10:15Speaker 1: a run earlier this week. Oh, no question about it.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And that was the thing, like I talked about, Hey,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Chris Carson needs to have X amount of carries. I
- 10:22Speaker 1: think the number I said was twenty. He needs to
- 10:24Speaker 1: touch the ball twenty times. On Sunday he got close
- 10:27Speaker 1: to it. So he had twelve twelve carries for seventy
- 10:29Speaker 1: six yards. He had five he was targeted five times
- 10:32Speaker 1: through receptions. That's fifteen. Also, you gotta think the game
- 10:36Speaker 1: got out of hand, So if the game was closer,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I think Carson would have continued to impose his will
- 10:41Speaker 1: and touch the rock more times. But it just felt good, man,
- 10:44Speaker 1: And uh, he's just something about thirty two. Man. Carson's
- 10:47Speaker 1: a different body. Man, He's a different dude when he
- 10:50Speaker 1: when he runs the football. It was nice see him
- 10:51Speaker 1: break a couple as his physical he just he embodies
- 10:55Speaker 1: everything that they want the Seahawks want to do offensively,
- 10:57Speaker 1: especially in the run game. So loved this see that,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and honestly, blunt man, it felt like you were back
- 11:02Speaker 1: at Monroe High School. It was a blowout on a
- 11:05Speaker 1: Friday night and everyone got in the game. Everybody got
- 11:08Speaker 1: to eat. We saw Burt Curve and Cody Barr and
- 11:10Speaker 1: Lennon Stevens and Shakim didn't just eat, I mean didn't
- 11:14Speaker 1: his play. He got a sack, so nice to see
- 11:16Speaker 1: him do his thing as well. And I liked the
- 11:20Speaker 1: offensive game play they came out. I saw so many hitches,
- 11:24Speaker 1: I saw so many checkdowns, and then when the opportunity
- 11:27Speaker 1: presented itself, Russell took his shot. He threw up an
- 11:30Speaker 1: interception to DK, but I feel like the interception was
- 11:33Speaker 1: just ridiculous. One hand to tip to yourself. Deb just
- 11:36Speaker 1: made a play. But it seemed like they were not
- 11:38Speaker 1: forcing the football down the field, and that's evident. When
- 11:41Speaker 1: Russell doesn't get sacked, let means he's getting the football
- 11:43Speaker 1: out quick. When you're asking these linemen a block for
- 11:46Speaker 1: four or five seconds, it's almost impossible to do in
- 11:50Speaker 1: the NFL. So I think Shotty said, look, we're gonna
- 11:53Speaker 1: take our time, We're gonna dincon dunk, and we'll work
- 11:57Speaker 1: our way down the football field getting to the red zone.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I mean, there wasn't we didn't have the fifty yard play.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You know, we didn't have the over the top play,
- 12:04Speaker 1: which is fine. I'm seeing that the Hawks can win
- 12:08Speaker 1: in different types of styles of football, and I think
- 12:11Speaker 1: that's going to help them when they start to make
- 12:13Speaker 1: a run in the playoffs. Oh, no question about it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And I think the game the way the years started,
- 12:18Speaker 1: where they had games where they blew people out or
- 12:20Speaker 1: they got up super big early and then the team's
- 12:23Speaker 1: kind of made it a comeback late. They've had games
- 12:25Speaker 1: that they won in the last second. Now they've had
- 12:27Speaker 1: a game where they absolutely blew them out and started
- 12:29Speaker 1: to finish. Show they've seen every situation they can see
- 12:31Speaker 1: in a football game, and I think that's really important
- 12:34Speaker 1: as they head down to the stretch run as in December,
- 12:36Speaker 1: because right now everything they want to do is still
- 12:38Speaker 1: on the table. If they want to be the number
- 12:40Speaker 1: one seed, they're gonna need a little bit of help.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But the Saints just lost last week. The Saints have
- 12:45Speaker 1: the Chiefs coming up, so like everything they want to
- 12:47Speaker 1: do if they continue to win, is pretty much on
- 12:49Speaker 1: the table. So it's good to see there. And then defensively, dude, defensively,
- 12:53Speaker 1: this team, we were not sure if we were ever
- 12:57Speaker 1: going to see them improved. Defensively, they were statistically everyone
- 13:01Speaker 1: talked about it. Everyone beat us over the head with it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: They're the worst defense in the history of the NFL.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Blah blah blah, blah blah, this and that, well, I
- 13:09Speaker 1: don't care about that. We've been talking about this all year.
- 13:11Speaker 1: There's benchmarks. Since the second half of the Rams game,
- 13:15Speaker 1: these guys have been playing at a top five, top
- 13:18Speaker 1: ten defense in the NFL. They've donated everybody. The Jets, Yes,
- 13:22Speaker 1: they came into the game. They're not a good football team,
- 13:24Speaker 1: they're not good offensively, but this is still the National
- 13:26Speaker 1: Football League. They didn't cross the goal, they didn't cross
- 13:29Speaker 1: the field midfield in the second half. Man, when our
- 13:32Speaker 1: twos got in, they didn't move the football. I mean,
- 13:35Speaker 1: we dominated everything we're supposed to do, held in the
- 13:38Speaker 1: three points, one hundred and eighty five yards, and a
- 13:40Speaker 1: big thing for me was there four twelve one third down.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So they've hit their stride. They've gotten to the point
- 13:46Speaker 1: where they we need them to be, and we're gonna
- 13:48Speaker 1: need to lean on them this last three weeks. Man,
- 13:50Speaker 1: we're playing some really good offenses, so we're gonna need
- 13:53Speaker 1: to lean on them for sure. Yeah, this defense was disrespectful. Man,
- 13:56Speaker 1: three yards, that may excuse me. Three points in the
- 13:58Speaker 1: whole game, and that came on the first drive. After that,
- 14:00Speaker 1: they scored forty unanswered points, which is hard to do.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't care who you're playing, and then Jamal Adams.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It might not have been the type of sack he
- 14:08Speaker 1: wanted to break the most sacks by a DB's record
- 14:11Speaker 1: because it was kind of like, okay, a force shout
- 14:14Speaker 1: of balance behind the line of scrimmish, but so what,
- 14:16Speaker 1: it's a sack. Jamal now holds the record for most
- 14:19Speaker 1: sacks buy a dB. We talked to Peca earlier total
- 14:22Speaker 1: ask him what makes him so special. He goes and
- 14:24Speaker 1: he sees it. He just goes, Yeah, he's the guy
- 14:26Speaker 1: who if he believes it, he sees it. He's flying there.
- 14:29Speaker 1: No one's gonna stop him from getting to the quarterback,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and it was good to see. It was also good
- 14:33Speaker 1: to see him handle himself like a professional. He wasn't
- 14:35Speaker 1: hooting and hollering about the Jets. He wasn't making a
- 14:38Speaker 1: bunch of doors before the game. After the game, he
- 14:40Speaker 1: was like, look, man, this is what I'm here to do.
- 14:42Speaker 1: This is my job. I'm a seahawking. Now there's no
- 14:44Speaker 1: reason to go back in the past and dwell on
- 14:47Speaker 1: all the negativity that came with the Jets. So nice
- 14:50Speaker 1: to see the defense put together dominant performance. So did
- 14:54Speaker 1: the offense. Special teams gave up a sixty six yard return,
- 14:59Speaker 1: which is I wouldn't say it's a sore, but you
- 15:04Speaker 1: don't want to see that. But on a positive note,
- 15:06Speaker 1: when it comes to special teams, Myers is still perfect
- 15:08Speaker 1: yep um kicking kicking field goal. So a lot of
- 15:10Speaker 1: good things happened in this game. So now let's talk
- 15:13Speaker 1: about the playmakers. Playmakers, all right, the quarterback Russell Wilson,
- 15:29Speaker 1: number three on the jersey, number one in your hearts.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Here's the thing about ross Man. He bounces back and
- 15:34Speaker 1: plays his best football after the Seahawks lose a game
- 15:37Speaker 1: or don't play as well as they have hoped. He
- 15:39Speaker 1: struggled last week after the Giants. It was a complete
- 15:41Speaker 1: different situation. On Sunday twenty one or twenty seven, two
- 15:45Speaker 1: hundred and six yards, four touchdowns, one interception, set the
- 15:48Speaker 1: Seahawks record for touchdown passes in a season with thirty six,
- 15:52Speaker 1: breaking his previous record of thirty five he set in
- 15:55Speaker 1: twenty eighteen. Dudes got three more games to play. He
- 15:58Speaker 1: was just on it, man, And what I loved about
- 16:00Speaker 1: it it was condiction, man. Like you said, he was
- 16:02Speaker 1: getting the ball out there. It wasn't a hole line
- 16:03Speaker 1: of the ball, whatever he saw defensively, because the Jets
- 16:06Speaker 1: played every cover until you can play. They played all.
- 16:08Speaker 1: They played some man, they played some cover two, they
- 16:10Speaker 1: played some two man, and played some cover three. That
- 16:12Speaker 1: they did it all. Russell read what was in front
- 16:15Speaker 1: of him and just executed. He made some really nice
- 16:18Speaker 1: throws and I just love to see it because that's
- 16:20Speaker 1: the way he played on Sundays, the way he needs
- 16:22Speaker 1: to play every week. And I just love the consistency,
- 16:25Speaker 1: the conviction in his throws. And he played like the
- 16:28Speaker 1: MVP he was at the beginning of the season, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: the Seahawks did need that down the stretch al right.
- 16:33Speaker 1: He broke another record, surprise, surprise, Russell Wilson breaking records.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Russell Wilson has recorded his fifteenth career game with four
- 16:40Speaker 1: plus touchdowns. Now he's tied for second with Peyton Manning,
- 16:45Speaker 1: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady. I mean, Russell Wilson's
- 16:50Speaker 1: being mentioned in categories with some of the greats of
- 16:52Speaker 1: all times, and he still doesn't get his love, his respect,
- 16:55Speaker 1: But he doesn't. He doesn't on the on the silent,
- 16:58Speaker 1: It's almost like at the beginning of the season, people
- 17:00Speaker 1: are just waiting for Russell to fail. I don't know
- 17:02Speaker 1: what it is about. People outside stay to Washington want
- 17:04Speaker 1: Russell to fail. But he doesn't do that. He just
- 17:07Speaker 1: over cheese. He's consistent, he keeps going. Yes, he threw
- 17:11Speaker 1: an interception, but I'll take that interception because as a receiver,
- 17:14Speaker 1: you're giving me a chance. Fifty fifty football, give me
- 17:16Speaker 1: a chance to go get a dB just makes a play.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But Russell Wilson through the first nine seasons, it's one
- 17:22Speaker 1: of the most successful quarterbacks of all time. No, it's
- 17:25Speaker 1: a question. I mean. The thing about it too, is
- 17:27Speaker 1: like Russell when he has bad games or when he
- 17:32Speaker 1: has a bad game, it's like people hold his feet
- 17:34Speaker 1: to the fire and they're like see I told you
- 17:36Speaker 1: or blah blah blah, this and that. If Patrick Mahomes
- 17:39Speaker 1: or Aaron Rodgers or anyone has a bad game, they
- 17:41Speaker 1: don't all of a sudden be like, you know what,
- 17:42Speaker 1: he can't be the MVP anymore because he had a
- 17:44Speaker 1: gaming through a couple interceptions. Blah blah blah. Patrick Mahomes
- 17:47Speaker 1: didn't play well on Sunday. No one's talking about Patrick Mahomes.
- 17:50Speaker 1: This morning. We woke up because they bounced back, they're
- 17:52Speaker 1: on the football game. He stepped into an amazing situation.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And I'm not trying to knock on Patrick Mahomes. I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: just saying it feels like a double standard anytime we're
- 17:59Speaker 1: talking about russ because when he has a bad game,
- 18:01Speaker 1: it's all his fault. It's this is this is this.
- 18:04Speaker 1: When other quarterbacks have bad games, they blame everybody else.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So Russell Wilson, keep doing your thing. I appreciate you.
- 18:11Speaker 1: You're MVP in our world and you're continue to do that.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So we love seeing that. The running game, Man, we
- 18:16Speaker 1: talked about a little bit Chris Carson, Carlos Hide Man
- 18:18Speaker 1: twelve carries for Carson seventy six yards when touchdown, Hide
- 18:21Speaker 1: fifteen carries sixty six yards. This was the best it
- 18:25Speaker 1: felt from watching the game in terms of our running game,
- 18:28Speaker 1: how everything flowed, how they offensive line was blocking and
- 18:31Speaker 1: holes things like that. And I think if they would
- 18:35Speaker 1: have played the whole game, they could have rushed for
- 18:37Speaker 1: way more yards. Yeah, easy, easy, Chris Carson Carlos Hide
- 18:42Speaker 1: nice one two combo in total of twenty seven carries,
- 18:44Speaker 1: hundred forty two yards and a touchdown. Chris Carson had
- 18:47Speaker 1: a nice run, twenty eight yard run where he shows
- 18:49Speaker 1: that burst. People see him as a powerbag, but he's
- 18:52Speaker 1: got some speed as well. All right. DK metcast six
- 18:55Speaker 1: receptions sixty one yards, one touchdown, and he also was
- 19:00Speaker 1: a cameraman for about ten seconds, scored a touchdown, hopped
- 19:03Speaker 1: in the stands, got behind the camera. He did get
- 19:05Speaker 1: a penalty. I asked Pete kah he felt about that.
- 19:07Speaker 1: He said he didn't like it, but it's nice that
- 19:09Speaker 1: he's having fun. When you're playing against the Jets, you
- 19:12Speaker 1: can take a fix to yar appenaloty And then they
- 19:14Speaker 1: assessed it on the kickoff and the jetice got to
- 19:17Speaker 1: the thirty, so essentially it was a five yard apenalty. No, no,
- 19:20Speaker 1: no harm there. I like to see DK having fun,
- 19:22Speaker 1: but I bet he will not be jumping into the
- 19:24Speaker 1: stands and doing anything like that again, no question about.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Here's the thing. I think it's one of those things where,
- 19:29Speaker 1: of course Pete's gonna say I'm up sad and things
- 19:31Speaker 1: like that. It's one of those things as a football coach,
- 19:33Speaker 1: you're you're mad at them, but at the same time
- 19:35Speaker 1: you kind of yell him like, hey, don't do that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: But you're having them a boy to say, next play like,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I like what you're doing there. And here's the thing, Man,
- 19:41Speaker 1: d K one of the best athletes in the world
- 19:44Speaker 1: in the National Football League. Camera work kind of shotty man.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I saw that. I saw a flip son of that.
- 19:50Speaker 1: He didn't really focus on anybody who was kind of
- 19:52Speaker 1: up and down. So I think he needs to work
- 19:55Speaker 1: on that in the film room this week, if you
- 19:56Speaker 1: ever want to see that again. But all seriousness, no, DK,
- 19:59Speaker 1: He's a man doing his thing, touchdown and still making plays,
- 20:04Speaker 1: still making plays. Let's highlight this offensive line. Man no
- 20:07Speaker 1: sacks for the first time in twenty twenty. Russell did
- 20:10Speaker 1: not touch the ground unless he tripped on the way
- 20:13Speaker 1: to the sideline or something like that. Russell's jersey was clean.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Remember back in the days when everyone played on grass,
- 20:19Speaker 1: your jersey actually got dirty. Jersey don't get dirty, just
- 20:21Speaker 1: get a little scuffed up these days. But this offensive
- 20:24Speaker 1: line kept Russell clean. And there are a lot of
- 20:28Speaker 1: guys playing right your party. Was it that we've seen
- 20:31Speaker 1: so many combinations on this offensive line that at this
- 20:35Speaker 1: point of the season, honestly, I'm surprised that there were
- 20:38Speaker 1: no secks I expect just because you have different guys
- 20:40Speaker 1: going in a different time situation, that just the flow
- 20:43Speaker 1: is gonna be off a bit. But because we've seen
- 20:46Speaker 1: so many combinations, we're seeing that guys are getting more
- 20:49Speaker 1: comfortable out there protecting Russell. Oh yeah. And I mean
- 20:52Speaker 1: at one point yet Wheeler Simmons Lewis Fuller called forwards
- 20:56Speaker 1: a center. He's out there playing right tackle. So it
- 21:00Speaker 1: speaks to a couple of things. A that all these
- 21:02Speaker 1: guys know what they're supposed to do, know everyone's job,
- 21:05Speaker 1: the personality, flexibility, depth, which is great. And number two,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I mean they went in there and they still moved
- 21:10Speaker 1: the football with you know, Smith at quarterback, and they
- 21:12Speaker 1: still moved the football, got a touchdown drive with that
- 21:14Speaker 1: second offense. So I love to see offense rush for
- 21:17Speaker 1: one hundred and seventy yards one hundred and twenty four yards.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So it's great to see that because it's going to
- 21:23Speaker 1: be important because hopefully everyone will be healthy and ready
- 21:26Speaker 1: to go by the time the postseason comes. But the
- 21:27Speaker 1: fact that people have game experience and they have game
- 21:30Speaker 1: live game reps, it gives you more confidence or something
- 21:33Speaker 1: were to happen if someone goes down to play. It's
- 21:36Speaker 1: good that they're they're gonna be graaty Rock and we
- 21:38Speaker 1: got to go back to defense man Jamal Adams. Five tackles,
- 21:42Speaker 1: one sack when TfL one passed defended. It would have
- 21:45Speaker 1: been so sweet if you got that interception. You know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: the guys in the locker room were killing them for it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Oh man, they hit him right between the three and
- 21:54Speaker 1: the three. It's tough because it was his former team.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I get that, but listen, man, I'm not gonna hate
- 22:00Speaker 1: on him brother for setting a record for most sacks
- 22:03Speaker 1: in the history of the National Football League as a
- 22:06Speaker 1: dB since he became official SAT in nineteen eighty two.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Eight and a half on the season, he's got three games.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I still think he's gonna get double digits. He's gonna
- 22:13Speaker 1: finish this year leading the Seahawks, and SAT so big
- 22:16Speaker 1: up to Jamal Adams. He didn't make too much about
- 22:18Speaker 1: playing his former team. Went out there did we supposed
- 22:20Speaker 1: to do, and honestly, I think he would have had
- 22:23Speaker 1: a bigger game. But our game plan was so good defensively,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and unfortunately in our game plan, we played a lot
- 22:28Speaker 1: of man free a lot of man coverage, a lot
- 22:30Speaker 1: of times Jamal Adams wasn't rushing the quarterback, so I
- 22:33Speaker 1: think schematically because of our game plan, that didn't allow
- 22:36Speaker 1: him to have the biggest game possible. But we gave
- 22:40Speaker 1: up three points, so I'm not complaining. Yep. And you
- 22:42Speaker 1: know why he didn't have as many as possible because
- 22:44Speaker 1: dudes like Snacks Harrison was making plays. Man, he tied
- 22:48Speaker 1: a team lead for tackles, went six or so. The
- 22:50Speaker 1: fumble that was covered by Bobby Wagner. You don't talk
- 22:53Speaker 1: about the interior linement a lot, so every time you
- 22:54Speaker 1: can get a chance, you gotta showed the big boy
- 22:57Speaker 1: some love. I also want to get pulled h some love.
- 22:59Speaker 1: He should have had it interception, but kJ getting stingy
- 23:02Speaker 1: when it is whether they're battling for a rebound, they
- 23:04Speaker 1: drops to the ground. You can't blame those two for
- 23:06Speaker 1: going after but it's nice to see Snacks and Puna
- 23:10Speaker 1: making plays getting some love. When you have you're in
- 23:13Speaker 1: tier lineman making tackles, that means they're stopping the room.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I mean, guys aren't getting behind them, and they're cleaning
- 23:18Speaker 1: stuff up before your linebackers can get to it. Always
- 23:21Speaker 1: nice to see him the big boys perform. Let's go
- 23:25Speaker 1: to the receiver room for the receiver round up. Now,
- 23:27Speaker 1: let's talk about these stats. Mental decass six for sixty one,
- 23:31Speaker 1: one touchdown, Lockett five targets, five catches, fifty two yards.
- 23:35Speaker 1: He's still do. He's gonna have one or two more
- 23:37Speaker 1: big games for the season is over. This Lee had
- 23:39Speaker 1: two for twenty three and a touchdown. Freddie Swaying two
- 23:43Speaker 1: for twenty two for a touchdown, his second touchdown of
- 23:46Speaker 1: the year. You saw him early and oft in this game. Yep.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You talk to Pete, he says he knows what he's
- 23:52Speaker 1: doing from every position. If you want to touch a
- 23:55Speaker 1: football field, focus on one position outside or inside, and
- 23:59Speaker 1: then start learning everything. It makes you just great overall.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That's what we're seeing out of Freddie Carson at three
- 24:04Speaker 1: for twenty two. Demo had three for twenty and a touchdown.
- 24:07Speaker 1: This dude had six touchdowns on the year, six touchdowns
- 24:10Speaker 1: on the year. Man, he might be the best number
- 24:13Speaker 1: three receiver in the league right now. He's not gonna
- 24:15Speaker 1: kill you with yards, but he's always gonna make a play,
- 24:18Speaker 1: no question about it. Then Kobe Parkinson jumps in big
- 24:20Speaker 1: up to Kobe Parkinson first career NFL reception ended the
- 24:24Speaker 1: game with two for sixteen yards. So it's great to
- 24:25Speaker 1: see his feet get wet in the league and playing
- 24:28Speaker 1: some meaningful STAPs. Because the thing about Kobe is he
- 24:30Speaker 1: is going to be that wide receiver threat type. He's
- 24:34Speaker 1: as a pass catcher. He's a big body, tall target,
- 24:37Speaker 1: and I think as he continues to learn this offense
- 24:40Speaker 1: and really get game reps, I think Kobe is gonna
- 24:42Speaker 1: be in the future. Our tight end room is great.
- 24:45Speaker 1: It's gonna be between Kobe and Diss and Hollister. There's
- 24:49Speaker 1: so much potential for those guys moving forward. So it's
- 24:51Speaker 1: great to see that Anny Hart one reception three yards
- 24:54Speaker 1: but had gotten the running game will end around for
- 24:56Speaker 1: nineteen yards. So it's great to see everyone get involved.
- 24:59Speaker 1: And that's the thing love the most about this. Russell
- 25:01Speaker 1: through four touchdowns to four different guys, so everyone was
- 25:04Speaker 1: getting eat. Spread the love rusts. We love when you
- 25:09Speaker 1: spread the love. Right, Let's go to the coach's corner
- 25:11Speaker 1: and break down a play. Russell Wilson finds David Moore
- 25:14Speaker 1: for a three yard touchdown. Russ gets the shotgun snap,
- 25:17Speaker 1: looks to the end zone, steps away from one man
- 25:19Speaker 1: throws the back of the end zone touchdown Seahawks. David
- 25:23Speaker 1: Moore loses his defender under the goal post, makes the catch.
- 25:29Speaker 1: That play made by Russell Wilson, who had somebody grab
- 25:32Speaker 1: a hold of his foot. He shook him off and
- 25:34Speaker 1: said get away. I got a touchdown to throw, and
- 25:37Speaker 1: he does David Moore from three yards out. The Seahawks
- 25:42Speaker 1: lead by thirty three. I really like this concept, Nass.
- 25:47Speaker 1: We got three receivers down to the bottom of the field.
- 25:50Speaker 1: We got DK at the number three spot. He's the
- 25:52Speaker 1: furthest end receiver. Go DK, lock him, and then you
- 25:55Speaker 1: have Demo, DK and Locke both his run hitches. You
- 25:58Speaker 1: get to the goal one, you turn round, you box
- 26:01Speaker 1: these guys out. Demo's working the back of the end zone.
- 26:04Speaker 1: What's so hard about this to cover for a defense
- 26:06Speaker 1: is Okay, you have the back of the end zone,
- 26:08Speaker 1: you play, you use that as a defender. But because
- 26:11Speaker 1: locket in DK settled down across the goal line, that
- 26:15Speaker 1: brings everybody up. Everyone's paying attention to sixteen and fourteen,
- 26:19Speaker 1: which creates some space in the back of the end zone.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You hear ray Will talk about Russell had someone on
- 26:25Speaker 1: his foot he says, get off me, shakes them off,
- 26:28Speaker 1: throws a dark dk catches his number six touchdown of
- 26:32Speaker 1: the year. That's all he does is make plays. Yeah, No,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Demo Swag is just that's what we love about him
- 26:37Speaker 1: because when he touched the football, if he's being targeted,
- 26:39Speaker 1: he usually comes down with it. The thing I love
- 26:41Speaker 1: about this play is so Damian Lewis kind of gets
- 26:45Speaker 1: bull rushed and unfortunately played such a good game on Sunday,
- 26:49Speaker 1: and this particular play he lost the battle. He lost
- 26:52Speaker 1: the battle. He gets run over a little bit on
- 26:54Speaker 1: his way to the ground. The thing I want to
- 26:56Speaker 1: highlight here is Russell Wilson his ability to not drop
- 27:00Speaker 1: his eyes at no point, even though there's a big
- 27:03Speaker 1: three hundred pound defensive lineman right at his feet, near
- 27:06Speaker 1: his ankle, his knees, all that stuff, doesn't drop his
- 27:09Speaker 1: eyes whatsoever, steps out of it, still find Zemo in
- 27:12Speaker 1: the back of the end zone in the concentration from
- 27:13Speaker 1: number three. It's really underrated because most people that bring
- 27:16Speaker 1: their eyes down off the receiver where things get lost.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But not Russell Wilson man. He just continues to make plays,
- 27:23Speaker 1: find Zemo Swag and it's good when everyone's getting involved.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Everybody's eating love it. We saw from the offense on Sunday,
- 27:29Speaker 1: love it. Forty points. Can't complain with that greatest formation
- 27:33Speaker 1: in football, nas, what is it? Here comes the Seahawk
- 27:37Speaker 1: offense onto the field and the Vikings defense crunching out
- 27:41Speaker 1: there knowing that one kneel down and the Seahawks are
- 27:46Speaker 1: gonna wind the clock down and win this one. It's
- 27:49Speaker 1: the victory formation on Hawk Talk. Vict re formation. Gotta
- 27:53Speaker 1: love it taking those knees to finish the game. Seahawks.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Here's what happened on Sunday, Man, it's all about this.
- 27:58Speaker 1: They beat the Jets like they were supposed to. Nothing fancy.
- 28:02Speaker 1: They beat a team they were supposed to beat and
- 28:03Speaker 1: beat him the way they were supposed to beat him.
- 28:06Speaker 1: The Jets are one twelve, we understand that. So no
- 28:09Speaker 1: one's over your hanging banners happy that to beat the Jets.
- 28:11Speaker 1: But the Jets were who we thought they were. Shot
- 28:15Speaker 1: out Dennis Green RP. But they are who they thought
- 28:19Speaker 1: they were, and they beat him the way they're supposed
- 28:21Speaker 1: to beat him. So it's refreshing that they came out
- 28:22Speaker 1: and just executed the game plan style points I needed
- 28:25Speaker 1: some style points. Man, they finally gave us some forward
- 28:28Speaker 1: and three. I'll take that all day to me. In
- 28:30Speaker 1: the past game, it was all about the quick game man, hitches, out, slants,
- 28:34Speaker 1: short stuff. I love the screens. We saw maybe three
- 28:37Speaker 1: or four screens. Now. They might not have been executed
- 28:39Speaker 1: the way we'd like to see them, but the fact
- 28:41Speaker 1: that they're running them just put pressure on that defense.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I like the way that they were mixing it up.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Russell Wilson back to his old self. If he threw
- 28:49Speaker 1: four touchdowns a one pick a game, I wouldn't be
- 28:51Speaker 1: mad at all. I'll take a pick. That just means
- 28:53Speaker 1: you're taking a shot to number four team. Russell seems
- 28:56Speaker 1: to be getting back to who he was early in
- 28:58Speaker 1: the season, no question about it. Russell balling out and
- 29:00Speaker 1: Jamal Adams Man huge week. Knew he was playing his
- 29:03Speaker 1: former team, so much negativity coming from the New York
- 29:05Speaker 1: media and everyone out there questioning his leadership, questioning his
- 29:10Speaker 1: essentially who he is as a man, and he talked
- 29:12Speaker 1: about it. He's really candid about things he dealt with
- 29:15Speaker 1: in New York and for him to come out ball out,
- 29:17Speaker 1: focus on the game at hand, didn't say anything negative
- 29:21Speaker 1: about you know, Adam Gaves or anyone in the Jets organization.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Still his friends over there. But for him to come
- 29:26Speaker 1: out break the sack record for defensive back still got
- 29:29Speaker 1: three games to play. It was good to see him
- 29:30Speaker 1: come out there, show what he can do, prove why
- 29:33Speaker 1: we gave up some first round picks for him because
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's a big part of this defense. Give us the energy.
- 29:37Speaker 1: So Jamal Adams, big up to Jamal got the game
- 29:39Speaker 1: ball ticket home record breaker. Jamal Adams got it done.
- 29:43Speaker 1: He led this defense. The defense is playing good. They're
- 29:46Speaker 1: gonna need to play well because the Hawks are playing
- 29:48Speaker 1: against a few top ten defenses themselves, so they're gonna
- 29:52Speaker 1: be times where these guys have to pull through for him.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Nice to see them get back on track, no question
- 29:59Speaker 1: about it. This team is playing how they should. It's
- 30:02Speaker 1: great to see them recap. They got another big game
- 30:04Speaker 1: against the Washington football team. They're nine and four. Huge
- 30:08Speaker 1: game coming up. They need to continue to win and
- 30:10Speaker 1: keep pace with the Rams setting I'm a showdown in
- 30:12Speaker 1: two weeks. Just reminder, guys, join us each and every
- 30:16Speaker 1: Thursday for the Huddle from noon to two with Jake
- 30:19Speaker 1: Stacey and Color analyst Dave Lyman. It's your chance to
- 30:22Speaker 1: hear directly from the Seahawks players as they prepared for
- 30:25Speaker 1: Sunday previous game ahead with the Voice of the Seahawks
- 30:27Speaker 1: Steve Rabel and our guy Ray Roberts bump. It's always
- 30:31Speaker 1: great to have victory Monday. Let's keep the thing rolling
- 30:32Speaker 1: in the next week. Keep it rolling. Hawks to nine
- 30:36Speaker 1: and four, about to go back east, play the Washington
- 30:39Speaker 1: football team. Let's hope they get it done. It's the
- 30:42Speaker 1: push for the playoff, folks. It's been real. Michael Bumba's
- 30:44Speaker 1: NASA Shelby Hawk TAR recap. Talk to you soon.
