- 0:03The championship weekend last of the championship weekends so
- 0:09that's what Excel see. Remote as good as ever, right?
- 0:15I think, at one point we have to see you.
- 0:19How if we can get all of us remote and not in the places
- 0:24that we usually report, I think the best we've done the most
- 0:27we've done is only one. Person is home.
- 0:31So we'll have this, that's what we currently have four, right?
- 0:34Well, as it stands, all of us, except Lamar should be in New
- 0:39Mexico. Like, if everything stays as is,
- 0:44yeah, good. I'll take that Knock-Knock for
- 0:52that one. Welcome everyone.
- 0:59Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
- 1:00Some I want to fly me to Albuquerque.
- 1:02Sure. That's no.
- 1:04There you go. Well we'll all pitch in
- 1:06Southwest the EP will literally never fly.
- 1:20Again, I wouldn't fly Spirit Airlines to save someone's life.
- 1:29Anyways, lied. How are you doing tonight, sir?
- 1:36I am in Albuquerque New Mexico again which apparently I have to
- 1:41move to at some point because we're here for the Mountain West
- 1:47Championship. Let's get started tomorrow.
- 1:49There is apparently crazy weather and a whole bunch of
- 1:52people have had a bunch of travel issues so I luckily got
- 1:57here in one piece and on time. So great, very grateful for that
- 2:03and, you know, we going to rock and roll.
- 2:04I almost ended up. Pain Spirit when Southwest
- 2:07cancelled, my first flight in two days ago like he and I'm not
- 2:11doing Spirit who's going right. I really wonder, I truly wonder
- 2:20if there is an NCAA team who I'm going to say regularly more than
- 2:28once as trouble in spirit. Good - I'm curious, I can
- 2:34confirm at least in to in 2017 2018.
- 2:41Iowa used to fly on Spirit a lot because they were The places
- 2:48they were going Spirits flights, were like way cheaper.
- 2:54So, I don't know if they still do, I don't know if that was
- 2:56just a one year thing. It was it actually cheaper
- 3:03again. Yeah, you're not going to get
- 3:05into the nuances of Spirit Airline.
- 3:07No, we are not cuz he has even even I'll say this the pricing
- 3:12and the nickel and diming to like as bad as those things are,
- 3:17those aren't even the reasons I wouldn't fly spirit.
- 3:22All right, all gasp no Governor. That's hilarious regarding its.
- 3:27I love it. I literally love it.
- 3:31Well, you know you guys are about to enjoy your conference
- 3:36weekend. We just had ours men finished
- 3:40second, highest points we've ever scored at a conference.
- 3:46Meet on the men's side. Awesome.
- 3:49They showed up and showed out And I think we're very excited
- 3:56about what outdoor holes, because there's so many more
- 4:00opportunities to score points. So women finished fourth, could
- 4:08have had a better meet but we got an NCAA qualifier out of it.
- 4:14I don't, I mean you can't you can't assume anything.
- 4:19But six meters 46 should get into the dense so I'm very
- 4:24excited for that young lady. Well yeah, I mean you know how
- 4:30it is conferences. Crazy people do Off the Wall
- 4:34stuff I cannot wait to be a spectator because I just know
- 4:40from coast to coast we're going to see some fireworks.
- 4:44So good luck to everybody. I can't wait.
- 4:49Wait. Well said, love it.
- 4:54The Morrow's died. Literally practice this two
- 4:56seconds ago. Lamar Mustafa Abdul, Malik
- 4:59Shabazz Muhammad. I can't believe I got that up
- 5:09that smoothly. I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 5:11I'm impressed and it just proves what I say all the time that
- 5:14you're actually glad. I've been saying it for a long
- 5:17time. I'm not in the only person that
- 5:20has said this, you know, it is what it is, exactly.
- 5:25Yeah. Anyways, how are you tonight
- 5:27sir? I am honestly, I'm great.
- 5:32I seem to have quintuple my ability to multitask over the
- 5:37last year. So having 17 things to do at
- 5:42once or in one day, doesn't seem to bother me way.
- 5:44It used to. Today, has been an action-packed
- 5:47like five. Venu three City kind of day but
- 5:51I'm not stressed nor bothered by it.
- 5:53So I'm getting ready for I guess my ncaa's I booked a couple
- 6:03thousand dollars worth of travel two nights ago for the The
- 6:11Cactus League, spring training and the grapefruit League spring
- 6:15training. So, I will spend three Whirlwind
- 6:19days in Florida and four days in Arizona or vice versa Kaymer,
- 6:24which I think it might be, it might be forward for it.
- 6:26And three years old about Sounds tough.
- 6:31Sounds like it's, you know, it's funny like it's one of those.
- 6:35I'm not gonna lie, like, Going to spring training.
- 6:39There is some fun to it, for sure, but it's definitely like,
- 6:43oh, you're going to go to Florida like, oh, we're gonna go
- 6:45there. Something like that.
- 6:46It sounds great. It's not, it's not like that,
- 6:50you know, like You know, I gotta go too.
- 6:55If you know anything at all about the peninsula, Florida,
- 6:57I've got to go to Dunedin, Florida, and I've got to go to
- 7:00West Palm, so they're like four and a half hours apart.
- 7:04So, what I'm doing is flying into Orlando and then going this
- 7:08way coming back - this way coming back.
- 7:13So I will spend more hours in a car.
- 7:17Probably then I will seeing my guys but that's okay.
- 7:21So what you do? Yep.
- 7:25And growing off of what you do. Well, we do is talk about Jack
- 7:31is back, what's up? Okay, let me say this, and I
- 7:42really mean we mostly me, but we We were very, very, very Petty
- 7:51last week as it pertains to USA championships and rightfully, so
- 7:57rightfully, so hopefully, so I stand by everything.
- 8:01I said, rightfully. So luckily.
- 8:04Luckily the very few stars that showed up showed the hell out
- 8:11the lift we did and Bravo and standing ovation to me.
- 8:17Miss Anna Hall. Yep.
- 8:20Okay. Miss Aleeah Hobbs, right, like
- 8:25it's hard to single-handedly save what?
- 8:29Otherwise really bad tracking. You just gonna diss the world
- 8:33record holder? Hold on, hold on.
- 8:35Okay, I'm just checking sorry, sir, continue to get those to
- 8:41know to get those two doing what they did.
- 8:43And then to have the Hannah price come through with the
- 8:47bomb, Mom and get there right? Like those three ladies right
- 8:54there. We're more than enough to
- 8:59capture attention and make that thing worth watching because
- 9:04most of it wasn't. But thank you.
- 9:06Ladies Bravo, I couldn't, you know, thank you.
- 9:12Thank you. Thank you.
- 9:15I just want to say, like, listen, I am anybody who watches
- 9:20the show knows, I guess. I'm like some sort of de facto
- 9:22like oral historian. My brain seems to remember many,
- 9:28many, many things from track and field in life way, more than
- 9:31like what I did this morning. I don't know that I have ever
- 9:38heard of a person. Attempting a pentathlon. 400
- 9:45double No, in any meat. Ncaa's the American Conference
- 9:54meet nothing. I have seen a heptathlon 400
- 10:02hurdles double for sure. Outdoors, somebody tried that.
- 10:07Yeah but a pentathlon 400 double in which.
- 10:17Well first of all is ridiculous. Secondly, it's about titude
- 10:21thirdly The 400 is two days and they are both after the
- 10:27pentathlon. Yeah.
- 10:31And you destroy the American record on the front side and
- 10:37come within seven. Tenths of a second of breaking,
- 10:40the world record. 7/10. And what was it?
- 10:44Eight points. Yeah. 10 well nine gosh.
- 10:51Five thousand. Thirteen and she's cool. 5004
- 10:56Right. It just, I mean, look, obviously
- 11:01you everybody who watches the show knows like how I feel about
- 11:04Anna Hall and who she is and all those other things.
- 11:07And I don't even have to worry about later on people saying
- 11:10that I was right. Like it's it is what it is,
- 11:13right? But It's very rare that somebody
- 11:17is far better than I even think they are. and I I mean I'm not
- 11:23going to stand but trust me, this is a standing ovation
- 11:27because I think it's amazing. She tried to double the fact
- 11:34that she took what quarter mile or showed up to the Woodshed and
- 11:39ran 51. Dead is Insane.
- 11:44We'll see. That's it for me, right?
- 11:46Like I could you could look at it and be like, yeah, but the
- 11:51field was trashed. No, no, no.
- 11:53Her time was awesome, rapper, Future 10 field.
- 11:58The fact that she wanted in 51 flat is nuts.
- 12:01She could have wanted much slower.
- 12:03Yes. Yeah.
- 12:04But she didn't she just blew it out.
- 12:08Yeah. Is that what I loved about it
- 12:12is? She actually ran and she ran it
- 12:15aggressively. She waited tactfully.
- 12:17And she ran it as if there was not that she did it.
- 12:20But with intention, right? She didn't kind of Lowell it and
- 12:24then Sprint to the end. Like she ran it with tact and it
- 12:28just multitudes of of why she's an athlete and not just Multis
- 12:37athlete. You know, like she ran it with
- 12:40knowledge. I think, I think what we're
- 12:42witnessing with this young lady is someone that at the highest
- 12:49level. Can sit there and say, huh?
- 12:56This has never been done. I'll try, I mean the the
- 13:03heptathlon for hurdles double are you kidding me?
- 13:10And that's definitely been done at a conference meet.
- 13:15Not at the national me and look let's be clear.
- 13:20She's gonna do this at the Championships.
- 13:23I mean look and my favorite part of my favorite part about all of
- 13:27it, right? Was like if you just a y'all
- 13:29know I'm a I'm into it. Look for subtle flexes.
- 13:31If you were paying attention she gave you 2. 1 one was when she
- 13:39said you can tell by my 400. My 200 is going to be pretty
- 13:43good outside. So what she's telling y'all is
- 13:47like this, 400 thing was training Mm-hmm.
- 13:51That's right. Like I like, sure.
- 13:53I raced because it was a race, but I had to work out to do.
- 13:57Yeah, right. That was that was one and two
- 14:00and this was the part I love the most.
- 14:03She said Jackie was able to compete with all of the
- 14:08professionals and it's in other single events and so I wanted to
- 14:12be able to do that too and I was like yelling paying attention.
- 14:15You need to pay attention to this York this girl cuz she's
- 14:17telling y'all I did not come to participate.
- 14:22Yeah I came to dominate So obviously, she has been given
- 14:29the memo. Yeah, on how to maximize your
- 14:34marketability as a multi athlete in today's world.
- 14:40You know, we talked about even from recruiting at the
- 14:43Collegiate level. We're looking for multis that
- 14:46can help us in individual events when needed as a professional.
- 14:53There is, you cannot just depend on being a multi not, not in
- 15:00this current landscape that we're in.
- 15:03And if you're able to line up with the best in the world, in
- 15:06an individual event, high jump long, jump, whatever it is.
- 15:11You are now adding much value because now you're dabbling in
- 15:17their money, right? And absolutely.
- 15:22I mean, I loved every minute of minute of her performance.
- 15:27Can we talk about femke bull real quick?
- 15:30Wait, how about this completely under cover 2 m?
- 15:36High jumper vast out of Cunningham.
- 15:40Like I'm being serious. I bet you there are 200 people
- 15:44that know that she jumped two meters in hand and took two good
- 15:47attempts to 2003. Hmm.
- 15:50Okay, so we've given vast our flowers and that is what like
- 15:53look. First of all, I'm not getting
- 15:55cussed out again because we already know somebody was coming
- 15:58from my neck. Yeah, secondly Again, it doesn't
- 16:03matter. How saw how soft the meat is.
- 16:06The athletes are going to show up and like there might only
- 16:09been five Superstar women. They're all five of them showed
- 16:11out. Yeah, we are hubs 694.
- 16:16I mean, yeah, raise your hand if you didn't think Gales American
- 16:21record was ever going down. I mean, come on.
- 16:25That is amazing. Gail Devers, man.
- 16:30And and I said like if you're a fan of hives which I am and you
- 16:35watched her over the past couple years, it's easy to say she ran
- 16:409400, it looks different know, it really does.
- 16:43Look it looks way different. She is changed tweaked.
- 16:49Yep running she's doing things differently now.
- 16:52Yep and this version she's always been a finisher.
- 16:57Yes I let's be clear about that. He's been a finisher.
- 17:01The second half has never been the issue.
- 17:03She looks, she looks dangerous. She wouldn't like, she's setting
- 17:07it up for the second half. Yeah, is super scary.
- 17:14Yes. Super super scary.
- 17:16So, hmm. That is a hole that needs to be
- 17:19filled? Yes.
- 17:20Look, like she's ready to go. Do that.
- 17:23Yeah, I just love the fact that these young ladies and their
- 17:27coaches are going after people. That everybody else would try to
- 17:31not talk about, right? Leg is clear.
- 17:35For those of you who aren't paying attention, I'm going to
- 17:37cut to the chase for you and a whole is going after Jackie
- 17:40Joyner-Kersee has world record in the heptathlon and understand
- 17:42this. There's not been another soul on
- 17:45this planet that's ever done. Thanks.
- 17:48Well considered it. I think they've not even in the
- 17:51Congress actually. Like meaning everybody else is
- 17:54going after the unthinkable which is 7000 points.
- 17:56Mmm, Jackie's, 300 points over that rise.
- 17:59Nobody, even though it is very clear.
- 18:03We will have this terrible is on a mission for that.
- 18:06Yes, people are celebrating. I've topped 7,000 because there
- 18:11aren't even for people who have done that.
- 18:13Yeah. And no, that's not enough, you
- 18:18know? And Alia talked about the record
- 18:19at she said, I knew to get the record, I had to have a better
- 18:24start that I had in the prelim which tells you, she wasn't
- 18:28surprised by that. They've been talking about that.
- 18:31That was a plan. Yeah.
- 18:33And that's I'm like, I'm appreciative of that because I
- 18:35feel like sometimes look, it's like floaters 1049 You know
- 18:41what's going to get broken with somebody decides?
- 18:43It's breakable. Absolutely.
- 18:46Like that's when it's going to get broken.
- 18:47Yes, because here's the thing, we all know that if you can run
- 18:521054, you can 10, where you can run 10, 49, I mean right Elaine
- 18:57ran 1054. So you did, right?
- 19:00So if you can run 1054, then you can run 1049.
- 19:03And here's the thing, if you can be Tulane, then you will never
- 19:06believe that you can't be laying, right?
- 19:08So my point is, there's at least two or three people that should
- 19:11be thinking about going after the world record, but they're
- 19:16not and their coaches aren't because it's up here.
- 19:20All right. So so let's call it.
- 19:21What it is. So we operate in a sport.
- 19:26That is like at the heart of it. We're all gentlemen and we're
- 19:31all latest, right? We conduct herself with
- 19:35professionalism, we project that we are all professionals about
- 19:40what we do. What are we witnessing right
- 19:44now? With Noah Lyles and the way that
- 19:46he's acting and what he's actually done.
- 19:49Right. Because in that same vein, who
- 19:53is thinking about running 1919 right now?
- 19:57Yeah. Like probably two people hate
- 20:01hate the man, for the way he acts in the way he carries
- 20:05himself and what he does and he shows up and he's I am the show,
- 20:10right? But look let's not, let's be
- 20:13clear. He's already broken the American
- 20:16record. Okay, so he is walking the walk.
- 20:22Hate him or love it. Like, this is the thing, like we
- 20:26all know. We've all been in that realm.
- 20:29You have to think about doing the Absurd.
- 20:34Yeah, I saw the lies. It's not going to happen.
- 20:38Agreed. And I saw like a little bit of I
- 20:42don't even know what you want to call it.
- 20:44Stupidity is my way people that would like, you know, Noah
- 20:49pulled out of the 60s. I ain't nobody care about the
- 20:5260. No, he's not worried about the
- 20:5460. I don't listen.
- 20:56If he even thought his leg was bothering him.
- 20:59You pull out of the 60s, right? I'm sorry.
- 21:02Six thousand dollar check and no, I don't need the 6K.
- 21:10No, okay, he out there working on things like everybody else.
- 21:14Not of course, you sit down. Yes, you to guy win it.
- 21:19Like whatever good night. I mean in that same token, we've
- 21:25just gotten the news that Duplantis is pulled out of the
- 21:27Europeans. I mean what is it like at this
- 21:31at this stage what is he get out of it?
- 21:35Oman at all y'all nothing until y'all like I mean if How many
- 21:53people are there really and truly in the sport who like say
- 21:57okay well I bring the show. Hmm and if you're one of those
- 22:01two or three people like you how long do you get to capitalize
- 22:04that it on that like very short amount of time right?
- 22:08If I'm him. I will compete for free Almost.
- 22:12Never. Hey and and I'm not I'm not
- 22:17saying that I know this. I just I just want it to be the
- 22:21case. So until someone confirms to me
- 22:24that it's different that's going to be what it is in my brain, I
- 22:28considered it poetically perfectly Petty, that Ryan
- 22:33krauser did not go to USA, okay? Whatever.
- 22:47So real quick, let's jump into that and move on, but like I
- 22:51said, this to chew when it happened.
- 22:54I said, listen, if you ever want to know how little you s indoor
- 22:57championships mean to someone just understand that Ryan
- 23:01krauser Flew to Pocatello, Idaho to compete in a meat for free on
- 23:07the same weekend as us. Indoor championships and broke
- 23:11the world record and push the Enduro world record to one
- 23:15centimeter further than he is outdoor record.
- 23:18So he's in shape shape. Yep.
- 23:22Status like I am not going Albuquerque and and and when
- 23:27this six thousand dollars to throw over in the corner and and
- 23:31you know what, I'ma let my guy Joe Get his first national
- 23:34championship because I know he probably gets a bonus and he
- 23:36just having twins. And I listened, I wouldn't be
- 23:39surprised if that conversation happens.
- 23:42Well, I mean that that would be sweet.
- 23:45I don't want it to be sweet. I just wanted to be picked, you
- 23:48know, it could have very easily be like damn all that.
- 23:51Like I'm going to go hunting after the meet and I like, you
- 23:55know and and the boar hunting is better in Pocatello.
- 23:58I mean, I'm making that up to, but I'm saying like it's Ryan,
- 24:01it can? I will say, I bet my answer is
- 24:04closer to the truth. He has something else he wanted
- 24:08to do and Idaho like go to Sun, Valley and ski Well, that's
- 24:12where he used to compete in high school, I know.
- 24:16And so like that's sweet, right? Because I would naturally High
- 24:20School record there by Franco. I cannot, I cannot see, but he
- 24:25probably does. Which brings me to a point that
- 24:29I'm, I mean, why are we still running on boards in 2023?
- 24:35Nostalgia, that's why for the Nostalgia.
- 24:40Yeah, I don't know why they've never put rubber on that track
- 24:43in one. I have no idea.
- 24:45What's even crazier. Is that a high school kid went
- 24:4745 seconds on that track? Yes.
- 24:49Yes, you know, that's the answer.
- 24:52Is that? No, it is Nostalgia, for sure.
- 24:55It's all the same reason why. It's because it's not even just
- 24:57boards. It's painted.
- 24:58Yeah. Orange and black boards, orange
- 25:03and black. You know what's you know what's
- 25:04good about orange and black similar color color scheme to
- 25:07Fem cables uniform that she thrashed the world record in,
- 25:12man. Yeah, so just I don't know how
- 25:16long we're sticking with this but to Fem Capo we just want
- 25:21your petty because I know where you want to say and I need you
- 25:23to say because it's going to be better coming from you than me.
- 25:26Some people. The rest of the world needs to
- 25:28know, Femme cable, broke the world record.
- 25:30There's no, no, I'm saying that's it.
- 25:32That's what you need to know. No.
- 25:34Thank you. Famke.
- 25:36Bowl for taking one of the dirtiest records from one of the
- 25:41all-time dirtiest people. Yes.
- 25:43Yes, off the books and every time one of these dirty records
- 25:49comes off the books. I don't drink, I don't smoke,
- 25:54but in my brain I got cigar and some shots like I'm here for it.
- 26:01And all of all of the world, all of the fans of this part of the
- 26:05world, should celebrate that stuff.
- 26:07Every time it happens. Yes, the the Eastern Bloc
- 26:12records and some others. It's not just them like, you
- 26:16know, you you know what, they are, get them up out of here.
- 26:20Sometimes it's a little the new track fans.
- 26:23If you don't understand what clad is talking about, go look
- 26:26at find a picture of the former world record holder and just sit
- 26:31there and look at that picture with it.
- 26:35It's it's tough to look at. Not gonna lie.
- 26:40I will also say, you know this this is this is like a petty
- 26:44palooza for Clyde because he broke the listen, he broke this
- 26:49news a year ago and you know, like unfortunately our show is
- 26:53new on strike. We tell people a lot of things
- 26:56that they are not ready to understand and a year later it
- 27:00gets brought to them like with a sledgehammer to the face.
- 27:03Okay, everybody understands world record is best thing ever
- 27:06done, right right. Okay will fail because of world
- 27:11Athletics is wonderful ranking waiting.
- 27:13Jesus cables indoor world record, is worth fewer.
- 27:19World Athletics ranking points than her 50.5.
- 27:24Yes Outdoors. No, no from indoor Williams last
- 27:29year, I write. Because it happened at World
- 27:32Championships. Yes, no, I just need everybody
- 27:35to rewind and play that again and hear that out loud and
- 27:40inferior performance is worth more world.
- 27:43And ranking. IE money points.
- 27:48Then the world record now that there ain't if that don't tell
- 27:51you how broken World Athletics and their stupid rankings are
- 27:56nothing, can can slam it home any more than that?
- 28:01Yeah I put that up on Facebook and my guy Tim O'Neil jumped in
- 28:05there to add into that and I didn't even know this one.
- 28:08So I found it amazing that Freddy Crittenton who won USA's
- 28:15Ran slower, and if I remember lost in Boston, that performance
- 28:24is worth more on the rankings, then u.s. agent or
- 28:28championships. Hmm.
- 28:30Well, folks, it's it's literally insane.
- 28:35It makes no sense whatsoever. I mean, we understand why
- 28:40they're doing it, but it's just so bad.
- 28:44It's So fraudulent, but yes, so it's just it's nuts like because
- 28:50it because the right way to do it is they don't even have to
- 28:52invent Wheels, right? Like do it like golf or like
- 28:56tennis they both have Majors right there.
- 29:00Worth the most and no, and no one's debating that the Olympics
- 29:04and the World Championships shouldn't be worth more.
- 29:06No one's saying that. Yes, Olympics and World
- 29:09Championships. Stop right there.
- 29:17But nothing should ever be worth more than a world record.
- 29:21Nothing. I mean, can we get some world
- 29:23record bonus points? Can we get that me rekt?
- 29:26There's an idea? No.
- 29:28Okay, we can't have chocolate syrup your ice cream.
- 29:31There you go. Gosh.
- 29:35That's crazy. So there you go, folks.
- 29:37Track is back. Traffic is back.
- 29:42Alright, so Parking lots more, great things and greatest
- 29:47drivers and whatnot. We're gonna flip it.
- 29:50I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
- 29:52I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry because it was a
- 29:55basically an off week end quote unquote, not for everybody, but
- 29:59Championship weekend, it's the early Championship weekend.
- 30:03Super short, super simple but I have to get this off on track as
- 30:06back. Richie Bean, yes.
- 30:09Richard Dean Alabama, State swept the swac Championships men
- 30:14and women back to his winning ways.
- 30:18And if you know anything about the history of that program, you
- 30:22know, the rich even been doing this for 20 years the winning
- 30:26championships. Okay, as I understand, I'm, I
- 30:30don't know the exact number, but I think it's 29.
- 30:33And it might be 30 plus now Conference titles, he has more
- 30:39Conference titles than any one individual in right now.
- 30:42Wow, he should already be in the Hall of Fame.
- 30:46We need to get him into the Hall of Fame and for me having helped
- 30:51him do some do a bunch of sweeps in the time that I was there and
- 30:56then watching Things Fall to Pieces for a little while to see
- 31:00him rebound and get this done. Amazing, love it.
- 31:07Shout out to the whole staff to snap to Maury could not be
- 31:11prouder of them and great to watch.
- 31:15Great to watch s Texas and Richie Bean.
- 31:20Indeed sorry, sirs know. So I'm going to say this because
- 31:24I can I keep saying this for everyone and I know you do.
- 31:28I'm not talking to you for everyone who s that notion and
- 31:32who he's complaining that he's not in the Hall of Fame Hall of
- 31:36Fame. You all need to respond and vote
- 31:39for that to happen and nominee. When the letters the alphabet
- 31:44send out that email, don't delete that one when they take
- 31:48the Hall of Fame. Ian's, you need to make that a
- 31:51thing. You can't just complain about
- 31:53him, not getting nominated when you don't nominate.
- 31:57So, hear me once carry twice and me a thousand times over.
- 32:03Don't disregard that media notifications from us tfcc a
- 32:07that's real good off my soapbox. So we were talking about the
- 32:13best and the greatest and the track is back section segment.
- 32:18But now we're going to talk about the greatest and those who
- 32:22have never actually won the Medal. an Olympic medal or world
- 32:28global so Olympic, or World oof Just making things more
- 32:34difficult as you could write, the best tour, we're going to
- 32:38default to the governor. See it's tough, right?
- 32:44Because there's a lot of people who have won World Championship
- 32:50medals who never won an Olympic medal.
- 32:53There's actually a lot of those. There are a fair number of
- 32:57people who have won Olympic medals and not and not one.
- 33:02World Championship medals. Yeah and there's quite a few
- 33:05people who have World Records. Who didn't win gold medals.
- 33:12But I felt like I needed to challenge us all to come up
- 33:17with, who has been dealt. The worst glass ceiling ever
- 33:26that? Cuz we know, whoever these
- 33:28people, whoever these people are have been in the finals.
- 33:32That's very, that's a very so. So let me be clear and I hope I
- 33:37didn't blow the assignment here because one this was very
- 33:40frustrating question. Very frustrating and I better be
- 33:48allowed to say that we're talking about individuals.
- 33:52Yeah individual. Okay, so I'm going to give my
- 33:56answer. I don't know if it's the best
- 33:58answer but I feel like it's a damn good one.
- 34:01And, you know, I pulled my hair out trying to trying to put this
- 34:05together, but the question is the, the best athlete to never
- 34:10get the individual metal correct?
- 34:14I'm gonna lie. Okay, Lilly and moodily is a
- 34:22friend of mine and I know how bad that fourth hurt.
- 34:29And I say this, with all due respect when no Petty intention
- 34:33at all, I think Munna is an incredibly gifted athlete and
- 34:37she was a hell of a pro and never really gets the respect
- 34:41that she her Talent deserves because she doesn't have that
- 34:44individual medal. But I mean, you talk about how
- 34:49close yeah, I believe it was .01, right?
- 34:54Like yeah, for me, it's Moon Ali.
- 34:58I'm sure there's a better answer somewhere and in the annals of
- 35:01history and that's what I'm waiting on y'all to give me but
- 35:04it's for me. I'm going Moon Ali.
- 35:10I like it the governator. What you got sir?
- 35:16I can't wait for it when I This, I have a really hard time.
- 35:27I have a really hard time with this question. so, You're going
- 35:39to have to go. The more you're going to have to
- 35:44go. Oh man, my research continues.
- 35:58Almost like, give a different answer.
- 36:03Yeah. Right.
- 36:09Right. Not so like so like my initial
- 36:15answer like off the top of my head, right?
- 36:19No research. Was Jon Drummond?
- 36:23Wow, wow. Because like to me a good
- 36:29definition of glass ceiling because he literally trained
- 36:33with Otto and Maurice. Mmm, he literally won gold
- 36:37medals and silver medals on relays. you know, my other like
- 36:46immediate thought was Mark Everett American record holder
- 36:53at one point. Hell, he was my roommate in
- 36:57Sydney and I knew I was like, literally in my head I was like
- 37:00finally my guy is going to get going to get in the final.
- 37:03In ain't no way he can get in the final.
- 37:04He's not going to win a medal and then he didn't get out of
- 37:06the first round, and I couldn't believe it.
- 37:10Okay, I got one and he's a contemporary and some might say
- 37:18I'm actually at fault but some might say rolling McGee.
- 37:26Oh yeah, I mean, yeah, 8 m 51. 8 m 51 and I mean I'm in that same
- 37:36boat we just came around at the wrong time.
- 37:40Oh I mean think about this Joe Greene has one.
- 37:45Yeah. Joe Greene has one Global metal.
- 37:48Yep. And I do jump 850 in college.
- 37:52Yeah, yeah I mean it's you go through that period of time and
- 38:00you start looking at those events.
- 38:02I mean I had to go search up Eric Walter He's got 11.
- 38:09This is a Collegiate record holder.
- 38:12This is eight seventy plus like. Are you kidding me?
- 38:17Like so yeah let me ask this question because literally this
- 38:22name popped in my head and I don't know the answer.
- 38:24So I mean the governor will be able to fact check this for me
- 38:30faster than I will because I'm slow on the Google.
- 38:32But this Dennis Mitchell have an individual record and individual
- 38:35metal. T1 USA's in 96.
- 38:44Hold on. Yes, yes.
- 38:51Yes. 95 metal for in Barcelona 92 92.
- 38:55Okay? So, did I think Dennis has one?
- 38:59He's got, he's got a bronze in 92 a bronze and Tokyo in 91
- 39:04worlds and a bronze and Stuttgart in 93 games.
- 39:08Well, there you go. Yep.
- 39:12Well that was a good guess though.
- 39:13Like yeah. And that's why I've like like
- 39:17like I said, my first thought was Jake was JD because I was
- 39:20pretty sure that he doesn't have one.
- 39:23And like literally I feel like he's the definition of like
- 39:27being locked in a candy store of a being allergic to Sugar like
- 39:31that man because he knew like, like here's the thing, we all
- 39:36have that have trained at a high level You know what, it looks
- 39:39like, right? You know what?
- 39:40Like in your picture in your mind, you know, where you're
- 39:42trying to get to so imagine training with it every day.
- 39:45Like you don't have to imagine what it looks like.
- 39:47The world record holder is in the lane next to you every day.
- 39:51Oh and don't get it twisted. I mean you know this JD had it
- 39:56like yeah yeah I mean there wasn't any final he was in where
- 40:02he and John and the crew didn't think he was coming out of there
- 40:06with a medal. Yeah.
- 40:10I mean I think we could help you got one for you what you got all
- 40:15the party and then again, I mean yeah yeah, 995 in that era.
- 40:28And 1970 something. Yeah, let me find it.
- 40:37I mean, this is this guy colas PB is 1960-something windy but I
- 40:41don't know what his legal PB is. So it's legal pb's actually 20
- 40:48flat. See, what do you read in 1992?
- 40:53With a two point? Eight nine, nine, five of the
- 40:561.9. Never won an individual metal,
- 41:02one relay metal, but not individual.
- 41:07I'm sure this could open up a whole can of worms and their
- 41:11whole bunch of folks. Oh, I'm listen, I am now saying
- 41:15that that big leagues DM's are open.
- 41:19Please feel free to shoot, shoot, dancers, you dance.
- 41:25I would love to hear some more stats.
- 41:34I'm gonna go back to my girl and throw It's okay.
- 41:37First of all, Seven-time NCAA Champion was Moon early.
- 41:43Seven times. 12 time, SEC Champion, 20 time All-American.
- 41:50Okay. PBS PBS 1085.
- 41:59Wind-aided 1078 2201, in the deuce in the Olympic final for
- 42:07fourth place. That's rough.
- 42:13Like Munna was a star. And all of her Sprint marks at
- 42:19the time, you would think, you know, in that era would come out
- 42:24with a metal somehow like yeah, like our sport is so brutal
- 42:28because like, let's go the other way.
- 42:30Michael Bates has an Olympic medal.
- 42:33Yeah. From Lane one in the 200 and
- 42:36then went on to go play football.
- 42:38It's a glad what what you just did.
- 42:41Is that you just really opened up Pandora's Box?
- 42:46Because there's a young lady from Moon.
- 42:49Ali's alma mater are all missing.
- 42:55The former NCAA record holder? Yep.
- 42:59Oh, absolutely. That called Timeout on her
- 43:02career? Absolutely, I mean, Dawn so.
- 43:06Well, don't don't say well, absolutely.
- 43:09It helped that might be the answer.
- 43:10That might be the answer because 1078 in that time period.
- 43:16Absolutely, oh Jen. 78221, unreal. 22:04.
- 43:24Yeah. Sheesh what's crazy is that was
- 43:29my freshman year in college. So I was my first NCAA meat.
- 43:33So I was like oh man you know ya in person.
- 43:37That was the meat that Dennis fall started in the hundred and
- 43:39then won the 200 mL in his still lifetime PB of 2001.
- 43:45Wow, a few years oh yeah, yeah, I'm okay with being old when it
- 43:50comes to historical facts because I get to say I seen a
- 43:53whole lot of stuff. Like I said, I think Don Babbitt
- 43:58is the only person I know of that is in-person.
- 44:00See, more records than me now. There might be other people out
- 44:03there, but I've seen a lot. What?
- 44:07What's next to because this was difficult.
- 44:11Yes, I want this. I like this one and and, and
- 44:14I'll be willing to bet you that everybody on this show is good
- 44:17when we get off the show is going to be like what about this
- 44:19one? Yeah oh sure no variation in
- 44:24instead of hitting my diems, please comment in the section so
- 44:29that everyone can see them and I don't have to relay the message
- 44:32that would be amazing. Thanks.
- 44:36Cheese. I mean there will still be some
- 44:38for conversation but come on. SO speaking of more Best Sand
- 44:44best in best best best rivalries in track and field history.
- 44:52And that nasty you through the history on there.
- 44:55Go ahead. To you have one, you had ones
- 45:02out. Yeah, but history is a current
- 45:05current as of yesterday is history.
- 45:10Okay. Yeah, yesterday is history.
- 45:13We'll just back it on up what she was trying to say and track
- 45:17and field there you go, I left it because yesterday And so
- 45:30should we just let it go first or go ahead type bathroom on
- 45:35Petty, but you go ahead. Okay, because I think I think
- 45:39he's going to give us a legitimate answer.
- 45:42I actually want here. Oh, Listen.
- 45:48Like any sport. I love rivalries and I actually
- 45:51have some answers that I'll Circle back around 4:00 but I
- 45:54just want to say this because rivalries has been a hot topic
- 45:57of conversation in the current sphere of, you know, chats and
- 46:02Twitter's, and give you very much comparison, going right?
- 46:05Like okay, I I'm starting to believe that in 2023 people.
- 46:11You know, the internet's just made everybody stupid.
- 46:14Because here's the thing, the word rivalry he at least as I
- 46:19have understood it, Dictates that there has to be a
- 46:23back-and-forth. Yeah.
- 46:24Rick there has to be like I get you and you get me and we don't
- 46:28really know what's going to happen the next time kind of
- 46:30thing, right? That's a rivalry.
- 46:33Okay, so Sydney doesn't have any rivalries that's dead.
- 46:38A Thing mo doesn't have any rivalries that's dead.
- 46:41Now at least Sid had arrival. At least there has one.
- 46:45It's the capitated, it's a wrap. Okay, yeah, shit.
- 46:50So I am a huge fan of fem cable. And I am a huge fan of always
- 46:59say her name. Wrong Keely from Great.
- 47:02Britain runs 800 hodgkinson. Oh, you're talking about the one
- 47:05they put on the internet. Like Crush that one right?
- 47:09Look, there's no rivalry because they haven't beat these people
- 47:13in anything that matters. Hmm, any time it matters.
- 47:18So pause with the Rival, talk as It pertains to those two people
- 47:23until they get beat. Yep, as good as Famke.
- 47:27Is yeah, there's barriers in the way and last I checked, she
- 47:34wasn't in the frame when Sid broke the record by.
- 47:41So yeah, let's get to the writer.
- 47:43He's almost all those two really don't have it.
- 47:46They just don't Yeah, yeah. No.
- 47:51So I will be happy to talk to today's athletes about.
- 48:00This rivalry that I bore witness to that Lamar for witness to and
- 48:07what it created, okay, how many rivalries out there in track and
- 48:14field? Create one of the longest
- 48:18standing World Records in history.
- 48:22It's still there. and to me the greatest law the Rivalry that I
- 48:31ever witnessed and it's still there out, there is a long jump
- 48:36rivalry between Carl Lewis and like pop now in the definition
- 48:42of rivalry, it was not a rivalry until it was one back and forth.
- 48:49Hey but if the one okay? Yeah and because there's a is no
- 48:55rivalry between Carla and Larry no no and you know, we would
- 49:01probably be having this conversation about Larry and
- 49:03Carl had Larry had that moment 100% Right.
- 49:11And it's you know it's one of those things where you had
- 49:15Larry. If you look at his record it's
- 49:18far more consistent. This man was a an 8:15 machine.
- 49:26But he just wasn't Beating Heart, it just wasn't happening.
- 49:29So here you have Mike Powell and they're all, you know, looking
- 49:34at the Golden Boy. And I remember having
- 49:37conversations with Mike about how much he hated the fact that
- 49:42Carl Lewis would show up on a random meet or show up maybe
- 49:48three or four times a year and track and field news would make
- 49:52him number one in the world when everyone else was jumping. 20 to
- 49:5630 times killing themselves traveling around the world.
- 49:59Carl showing up on a helicopter dropping down on the track, you
- 50:05know? Hey, I'm here.
- 50:06I mean, that was and that happened where this man was so
- 50:12hated by his Rivals. And, you know, to be to be there
- 50:19in Tokyo and to watch that competition.
- 50:23I mean, I don't even know if it's 34, Could do it justice
- 50:26because you have to go back and you have to understand the pain
- 50:32and the vitriol and the hate like this was person.
- 50:38And I think if you were to sit down and talk to Mike, you can
- 50:41you would he would honestly tell you that he had a moment of
- 50:45insanity. A moment of just, I don't care.
- 50:51If I killed myself, I am running down his Runway as fast as I
- 50:56can. I'm putting my foot down and I'm
- 50:59gone. And II would love, you know?
- 51:04And I've actually talked to Auto about this, like, how could we
- 51:08encapsulate and bring, especially For the Love of the
- 51:13event? How is it that we could bring
- 51:16that back? To the masses to get them to
- 51:19understand jumpers throwers pole.
- 51:24Vaulters field of enters. In general, we need each other
- 51:29as much as you love to hate. I mean, I will tell you right
- 51:34now, I mean, there were days in Zurich or wherever it was, I
- 51:38walk into the cafeteria. And I see Pedrosa in the corner
- 51:43of the room and the hair on the back of my neck is standing up
- 51:47and every Fabric in my being is just like heart rate goes up.
- 51:52Like that is the essence of a rivalry that is the essence of
- 51:58competition. When someone does that to you,
- 52:01you haven't even acknowledge them in the room, but they're in
- 52:05the room. That is what?
- 52:08Yeah, Marlon, Mike embodied. My favorite part about that was
- 52:12is that one of my favorite movies from the 80s is a movie
- 52:15called Vision Quest and it was, you know, should watch it.
- 52:18It's an incredible movie about like what exactly what the
- 52:23governor is talking about going on, an impossible mission
- 52:27listening, to people closest to you, tell you, why are you doing
- 52:30this? It's never going to happen.
- 52:32And then showing up showing out and making it happen on the day.
- 52:38Mike. Well, Randy figured out what it
- 52:42was going to take to be Carl and then Randy devised, the plan and
- 52:47gave it to Mike, it included. It included.
- 52:53Claude drills on a Kaiser machine to failure.
- 53:00For those of you who've ever done, claw drills and know what
- 53:03they do to your hip flexors, imagine doing that on a Kaiser
- 53:08machine where you can increase or decrease the amount of
- 53:13resistance through failure. Yeah.
- 53:20Right? And if you go back and watch the
- 53:22meet, Mike had a little bitty shorts, this is what his hip
- 53:27flexors look like, yeah, right. Because it was required of him
- 53:34in order to not amortize on the board because he wasn't as fast
- 53:38as Mike. I mean, it's Carl.
- 53:40So he had to use more if you use a greater percentage of its
- 53:43horizontal velocity in order to achieve the same takeoff speeds
- 53:47and yes, I just nerd it out but y'all Need to understand what
- 53:51was really going on. Yeah, yeah, that's a great one.
- 53:55It is a great one cannot. Can I throw a historical
- 53:59legitimate one? See, here's here's the thing.
- 54:04Here's the thing. And I didn't mean to say that,
- 54:07that one isn't legitimate. I meant that.
- 54:08I yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 54:12Here's the thing about rivalries.
- 54:13See rivalry talk. It doesn't matter why they're
- 54:17Rivals. It doesn't even matter if you
- 54:20know Shenanigans are going on. Carl and Ben Johnson.
- 54:26Oh, my God was an epic rivalry Epic.
- 54:29No one cares! It's part of what made it the
- 54:39Rivalry, right? Like there's no more dramatic
- 54:44rivalry history than that one and it couldn't be two more
- 54:48different prognosticators in those to write even in the way
- 54:52they I ran their races and everything.
- 54:55It was Fire and Ice Man. Oh my gosh, that's right.
- 54:59Yeah I'll tell you my all time favorite track rivalry that
- 55:05should have been but never was oh, like the ultimate
- 55:09disappointment of a rivalry. We should have got 10 more
- 55:13episodes of this Maurice Greene, and Michael Johnson.
- 55:16Oh yeah, how many well, only understands the mara in
- 55:21Sacramento? Absolutely.
- 55:23Oh my gosh, what they are most disappointing things I've ever
- 55:27been a part of? Was there a more hyped up?
- 55:29200 than that one? Oh my goodness, like its the
- 55:34worst ending ever. Yeah, it was one of the worst
- 55:37endings ever. Yeah.
- 55:40Before I give my answer, I do want to say this.
- 55:42Like sometimes you just get lucky right between the four of
- 55:47us. We've probably watch, I don't
- 55:49know. 5,000 track meets name me, another me.
- 55:53Meat besides that World Championships, long jump
- 55:55competition where they showed. 12 jumps on television.
- 56:02Yeah, life. That's true.
- 56:04Well, they showed all six jumps of both competitors and and to
- 56:09that point, I know, I don't know.
- 56:13And I'm not sure the governor knows who got third because
- 56:17there's a bronze medal in that meat.
- 56:18I have no idea who got it. I got no one question.
- 56:24I have a question for my panelists on this particular
- 56:26issue in modern times. Obviously, statistically.
- 56:36And from a medal count perspective, you could easily
- 56:41say that Shelly and Fraser Christ.
- 56:42And Elaine Thompson is a great Rattler.
- 56:44Oh yes. Watch.
- 56:45Where is my remarks? Got third Lamar.
- 56:48But but here's my crazy. But here's my question though,
- 56:51like why do I when I hear those two names and you know, go and
- 56:58go one a if you know depending on how you look at it.
- 57:01Why do I feel like it's not really a Rivalry.
- 57:05Why do? I feel like they've more taken
- 57:07turns, then been at their best together racing it out.
- 57:13You know why? It's real simple, because
- 57:15they're not American and there hasn't been a deep dive into who
- 57:20they really are. Because here's the thing, I
- 57:22don't think that they dislike like hate each other.
- 57:27But I can tell you they don't really like each other.
- 57:31Hmm. Okay, that comes through.
- 57:33Right? And if they were American, they
- 57:37be pitted against each other on television.
- 57:39Yes. The back story would be right.
- 57:41Is that make sense? Like, it would be a rivalry, but
- 57:44what ends up happening is they get lumped together as the
- 57:48Jamaicans. Warming up dance.
- 57:51The Americans as you say that, think about the Safa Powell era.
- 57:59And the bolt era, the you notice they kept those two separate?
- 58:04Well, you know, really to say I was also not a right, huh?
- 58:09That was also not. You do have to show up for the
- 58:11final and win something Gary. So I'm going to give my answer I
- 58:20think it might be the best. But we're getting far enough
- 58:26away from it. I think the youngsters never saw
- 58:29it Evelyn Ashford versus the entire Eastern Bloc block.
- 58:38You've given that answer them for what.
- 58:41No, but for real a, from a rivalry perspective, like this
- 58:44is listen, you've hurt you guys have all heard, both, me and so
- 58:49lucious. We talked about Evelyn as if
- 58:52she's superwoman, but that's why She her jaw, she had one job.
- 58:59Go beat them, dirty Europeans, right?
- 59:03The Eastern Bloc. We all knew the Eastern Bloc was
- 59:06on drugs, right? And understand, I have to say
- 59:08the Eastern Bloc because that's like, at the time,
- 59:11Czechoslovakia, right? Which doesn't, it doesn't exist
- 59:14anymore Welland East Germany? Poland, Russia, and, and I'm
- 59:21sorry USSR because you are was about 50 countries that we
- 59:25currently compete against, right?
- 59:28It was her versus them. We ran a 4 by 1, right?
- 59:34The whole job was to get the job, get the stick to Evelyn.
- 59:38Yes, the she will beat them. Damn, dirty, Europeans still one
- 59:43of the greatest anchor legs I've ever seen still, and you know
- 59:48what's crazy about that race that that somehow gets lost on
- 59:51everybody. Blow job was on the track.
- 59:55Yep. Hundred percent.
- 59:56We would lose. Yes.
- 59:59Losing. How you keep dressing, her
- 1:00:01hiking dresser. Need to pearls lunch.
- 1:00:04A, a, her lunch. And, and you know what's crazy,
- 1:00:08is what we what we all had stolen from us, right?
- 1:00:12Evelyn. Was the beginning of being the
- 1:00:17monster in 76, right? We boycott 80 they boycott 84?
- 1:00:28Yeah, right. Which is why again children you
- 1:00:32need to watch this show and listen to us when we tell you.
- 1:00:36Forget that people are on drugs and then go watch from beginning
- 1:00:42to end the 1983 World Championships.
- 1:00:46The first one World Championships.
- 1:00:49Number one, It may be the best track meet that's ever happened.
- 1:00:54And the reason it was so good is because it was the first time
- 1:00:58that the Americans and the Brits, right?
- 1:01:02The good guys were actually on the track with the Eastern Bloc.
- 1:01:08Since 76 six years. Yep.
- 1:01:13So seven years. So seven years removed.
- 1:01:16Yeah. From when these people got to
- 1:01:18race each other and there were World Records broken in there.
- 1:01:21Yeah. So my answer is, is Evelyn
- 1:01:27versus the Eastern block because I was six when she in 76.
- 1:01:36And she was the first Superstar female athlete I ever seen.
- 1:01:42So here's one of my favorite modern rivalries and there have
- 1:01:46been results to, to give it the title of rivalries, actually
- 1:01:51quite I have the, I have probably the most respect for
- 1:01:54this one because of one of the protagonist is just who he is
- 1:02:01krauser. And Kovacs is a real rivalry.
- 1:02:03Oh yeah, I was gonna say that. And when you consider what
- 1:02:07krauser is and what he's done. In fact, joke is standing there.
- 1:02:11There and beat this dude, biggest ages every now and
- 1:02:15again, is incredible. Like, I have so much respect for
- 1:02:20that rivalry and for for Joe Kovacs, because he's made it
- 1:02:25interesting to watch. I mean, there's no question like
- 1:02:29my favorite and I think, what will end up being an epic
- 1:02:34historical rivalry? When it's all said and done.
- 1:02:39Is Noah and an area night, hmm. Well, that right?
- 1:02:44That's a budding budding, right, right.
- 1:02:47Come on. We've only seen round 1 & 2,
- 1:02:50right? Its kind of seen the battling
- 1:02:52shushes right, but I think that what we're going to see over the
- 1:02:58next Three. For sure.
- 1:03:01Hopefully five six and seven years.
- 1:03:05Woo. I'm going to say this, I think
- 1:03:10In Our Lifetime one. One or both of them is going to
- 1:03:15run under the world record in the 200.
- 1:03:19Okay. I understand and if I was going
- 1:03:24to say, if I was going to be a betting man, I would actually
- 1:03:26bet that they both because they have each other.
- 1:03:31Marianne enough in age for it to to Really Matter.
- 1:03:36Right? And a sometime like that.
- 1:03:40That's the thing. Like That's the thing that that
- 1:03:43honestly is kind of a little bit disappointing like like the
- 1:03:48Lilah came into her own later you know from a Fan's
- 1:03:54perspective you would want because don't get it twisted.
- 1:03:58Dalila was the Undisputed goat. Yep, until said figured it out
- 1:04:04and now it's an afterthought right?
- 1:04:07Is it was old enough, but I mean, that's the thing.
- 1:04:10Like the Lilah was closer to 30 and Sid was a child, right?
- 1:04:16If you know, Ariana and Noah are not that far apart in age.
- 1:04:21So you could get two cycles where they're both still really,
- 1:04:25really good, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:28Yeah. So, how would you say Lamar
- 1:04:33heike and Jackie? See, that's another one I got.
- 1:04:37It was an incredible rivalry. We just didn't have enough
- 1:04:41rounds. Mmm.
- 1:04:44I mean, look if you're if you're a jumper and you don't know it
- 1:04:49you again, you need to go back and watch some film because I
- 1:04:53mean, I don't know how many times there have been two,
- 1:04:56females that jumped over 24 feet and it works in the same meet ya
- 1:05:01and that happened more than once.
- 1:05:03Yeah. So let's try it.
- 1:05:05Let's see if we can get this off succinctly.
- 1:05:08The future rivalry that you're looking forward to.
- 1:05:13I think he just gave his Lamar just gave is Ariana and Noah,
- 1:05:18which yes qualify. So choose got to give us one.
- 1:05:23I got one and all gasp no Governor's.
- 1:05:26Got to give us one. so, my outside your mind, and I think
- 1:05:40it literally comes down. To Rye Benjamin you fry
- 1:05:48Benjamin. Can I feel?
- 1:05:54I feel for this young, man, I really do if if he can unlock.
- 1:06:02That that because it's amazing how everybody at that track.
- 1:06:09That knows, track and field knows that rye Benjamin is more
- 1:06:13talented. He is more talented without a
- 1:06:19doubt. He makes it look effortless
- 1:06:22like. Well, let me ask you this
- 1:06:23question. If you're looking at, if you
- 1:06:25recruiting two kids, right once more talented and ones
- 1:06:30definitively tougher, which one, which one would you rather not
- 1:06:34see? No, no, no, no.
- 1:06:43So you're you thinking that I'm disrespecting Ryan?
- 1:06:46I'm not. No, it's not.
- 1:06:50Just let me explain. So nobody's trying to act me
- 1:06:54talk about, I'm Todd. Listen, I love rye Benjamin, and
- 1:06:59I don't think that he's not tough.
- 1:07:01The people that it on, waste it, I understand listen to me.
- 1:07:04So I can clear this up. People forget that Carson War
- 1:07:09home used to be a decathlete decathlete.
- 1:07:12Yes, People forget or don't know, the Carson War home
- 1:07:16competed the decathlon, 400 double at a European.
- 1:07:23Junior meet at the European Jew. He's tough at a level of
- 1:07:30psychotic psychosis. Yes, that's my point.
- 1:07:36It's not about ride. Not being tough at some point.
- 1:07:39I'm listening. There's tough to a point of
- 1:07:42crazy and I was no question in my mind.
- 1:07:44The war home is there. Mmm, that that is much better
- 1:07:47stated the second. Yeah.
- 1:07:49Okay. And look, that's fair.
- 1:07:50And that's probably the reason we do this stuff in the show,
- 1:07:52right? Is like I gotta put my foot in
- 1:07:54my mouth and then and then figure out how to take it out.
- 1:07:56But I'm just saying this but if you've, if you've seen the movie
- 1:08:00car somewhere home was crazy enough to bite his own hand,
- 1:08:03that's that that is fine and I am waiting for the day.
- 1:08:12Yeah, I'm listen, you know that, you know, that was mine since
- 1:08:19the governor got that one off, I'll just go and and Lamar are
- 1:08:24did what he did there. I must get past that one and
- 1:08:28just say yes. So I'm gonna give you.
- 1:08:33I'm gonna give you the other one.
- 1:08:35Which, which the clock officially started ticking on
- 1:08:40this week, okay? I am here for the Michael
- 1:08:45Norman. Fred Curly hundred-meter
- 1:08:49rivalry. Wow, I'm here for that.
- 1:08:54Okay. Because listen, whether whether
- 1:08:57this is part of the calculus or not, it's just too many things
- 1:09:01that they have fell into this, right?
- 1:09:04Because Fred and Mike were supposed to be the future of
- 1:09:09America's 400 meters. And I really wish they would
- 1:09:13Back to the well, hey, the money ain't there and apparently this
- 1:09:18is the desire, ain't neither. So from Ed dips out on it early,
- 1:09:24right without a gold medal but finds one in the hundred.
- 1:09:30Yes, Mike fumbles. First year out finds himself
- 1:09:36back to, it gets his metal and like you know what?
- 1:09:41I'm coming for it. Yeah, you You you can't be the
- 1:09:45reigning defending 400 meter champion and step out of that
- 1:09:49event, and announce it that you're going.
- 1:09:51And of course there's the Nuance of Fred just walked away from
- 1:09:56Nike. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:59Yo, I mean, like, there's so many elements to this.
- 1:10:04So I am here for the budding. Michael Norman, Fred Curly
- 1:10:11hundred-meter rivalry. I'm here for and that is in no
- 1:10:14way disrespect or a shot at Coleman or Bracy.
- 1:10:20Who, at this point have Trayvon. At this point who have earned
- 1:10:24their due respect in that event, they got the metals behind their
- 1:10:27names, right? Hmm.
- 1:10:29They got them. Yep.
- 1:10:30But if you're talking about star power, That's the Rivalry.
- 1:10:36I'm here for That's interesting. I'm more interested in their
- 1:10:48specificity. I was a fan of that before, I
- 1:10:59know, but I liked it. Listen.
- 1:11:03I, I must say this again, I don't, I know, I wasn't the
- 1:11:07first person on the Michael Norman fan club, but I
- 1:11:10definitely was in the first car. And I want to see this work.
- 1:11:19It has to work, like I want to see a bunch of us dudes, run
- 1:11:25under 98. Like I said this to somebody the
- 1:11:30other day. They didn't like my analogy but
- 1:11:33I still like my analogy. Right or wrong and I consider it
- 1:11:40wrong. LeBron James caught a lot of
- 1:11:44flak for the exit from Cleveland, going to Miami, and
- 1:11:51because he did, it had to work. Because he would have been a
- 1:11:56joke if it didn't. I mean that's true Fred Curly
- 1:12:01caught a lot of fire when he dipped to the hundred and
- 1:12:05everybody's like oh the boys and saying what are you doing?
- 1:12:08It's never going to end it worked.
- 1:12:12And now, he looks like a genius. Right?
- 1:12:14Got his payday. Got the medals, two of them,
- 1:12:17right? Michael Norman is the rain
- 1:12:21defending world champion in the 400.
- 1:12:23It better work. Hmm, it has to work.
- 1:12:27And I think it will, I think it will, but it has to work.
- 1:12:34Yeah, like you can't pull that move and be the real a bear.
- 1:12:39He's, that can't happen. Hey, what's a good news is Clyde
- 1:12:44and I are finally going to get what we've been asking for,
- 1:12:46which is my n went on all pop off.
- 1:12:48Finally, gonna get that. I mean, listen, listen, we hope
- 1:12:52he's in on Papa. I am confident, they will find
- 1:12:56the way to get him on the track now.
- 1:12:59No, he shouldn't have to do that, but yes, number one that's
- 1:13:04where the Longhorns put him there.
- 1:13:09I'm going to say this because you said it in the world needs
- 1:13:12to hear it. If we were on Michael normal,
- 1:13:14first Flamingo on third area on anchor, like literally it almost
- 1:13:20doesn't matter who runs second. But hey, I'll take Noah, I'll
- 1:13:25take Fred just plug somebody in there.
- 1:13:29That's what I'm saying. Any of them on second leg.
- 1:13:34Any of them. You can put any of them there
- 1:13:37and give them the lame hand off that the Jamaicans had when they
- 1:13:42broke the record and it's blown to pieces.
- 1:13:46Yeah. I mean, at the end of the day,
- 1:13:49if you really look at how many straight away guys, we have the
- 1:13:52truth of the matter is this, if you run Norman, one, and
- 1:13:55flamingos three, we could probably break the world record
- 1:13:58with a lot of different forceps. As long as those two dudes are
- 1:14:03though, in those two spots. But hey.
- 1:14:12We get we get the jobs, so. Yeah.
- 1:14:20Have mine to throw out there. I went through all the events
- 1:14:23that you guys did not talk about.
- 1:14:24I wanted to try to find one an odd one.
- 1:14:29It's started already kind of, but they've been spotty, but who
- 1:14:35now is Katie, Moon getting shot and Sandy Morris and mobile.
- 1:14:40That's a good one. That's a good one.
- 1:14:44So, and I mean they haven't I don't feel like they've been on
- 1:14:48at the same time, literally, we Weeks apart.
- 1:14:50But I think now that they're training together to I think
- 1:14:54that's gonna but some so fiery scenes, hopefully and and that
- 1:14:59definitely has some Rafer Johnson CK Yang thoughts to it,
- 1:15:04right? Like with the coach, the same
- 1:15:05coach is coach in the gold and silver medalist.
- 1:15:08It definitely has some of that too.
- 1:15:09Otto, Otto and Moe. Yeah.
- 1:15:12How many of us thought that was probably?
- 1:15:16I mean in hindsight was it the right decision?
- 1:15:19What does Otto Windows Metals? If he's not there, does if he
- 1:15:23goes somewhere else. Does he beat Mo like?
- 1:15:27I mean, those are things that we'll never know.
- 1:15:29Now. Yeah.
- 1:15:30Well, that was happening. Was like, man, one, two, one,
- 1:15:35two, one, two, three. I know this.
- 1:15:39I for one, always thought the JD needed to go to a different Camp
- 1:15:42if you ever wanted to beat them. Yeah.
- 1:15:45Because the unfortunate part is the best part of what he did
- 1:15:49made the best made the weakest part of what they did better.
- 1:15:53Yeah. Which just made it impossible
- 1:15:55for him to ever beat them? Yeah, because it because they
- 1:15:58started with him practice and the oh yeah, he was going to
- 1:16:01come back because they started with him every day in practice.
- 1:16:05Like they just the Panic that that start would cause on
- 1:16:09anybody else's. Yeah, it happened to them,
- 1:16:10because I'm like, we good. yeah, but And, you know, we could do a
- 1:16:18whole segment on that just at that at that time in the world
- 1:16:22HSI old, the world hike. I mean, is only but there's only
- 1:16:28been two real clubs in the history of this sport.
- 1:16:31Okay, that's not true. There's three there because
- 1:16:35Athletics Wester, I think is what it was called that that was
- 1:16:37a real Club, but Santa Monica, HSI are the only 2 power clubs
- 1:16:41that have really ever existed global week.
- 1:16:43Yeah. Right.
- 1:16:44So I'm just saying, at that time in the world, Where you going to
- 1:16:48go? Which leaves me wonder what we
- 1:16:50could have done in Austin. Anyway, to.
- 1:16:54Okay. All right.
- 1:16:57Well, with all that excitement, we're going to put the cherry on
- 1:17:00top by putting the five billion name, man, in the circle for,
- 1:17:06would you rather? Oh, I thought you were gonna say
- 1:17:08it again. No, I almost did and I was like
- 1:17:12yeah that's too much. Can't do it and do it.
- 1:17:15Do you want to travel in one day?
- 1:17:16A to make that name happen again.
- 1:17:18So sir, this one's very short because I think I came up with
- 1:17:23good questions but I don't know you.
- 1:17:25I think that all the time and you guys stay there Clyde.
- 1:17:29I got a text from picks and this one, right?
- 1:17:32I got a text on that one. I don't know if he told you.
- 1:17:36He told you anyhow. All right.
- 1:17:39So you ready? I am.
- 1:17:43Alright. This one I did steal from The
- 1:17:44Steve Harvey. I think this is from yesterday,
- 1:17:46but would you rather get 500,000 dollars?
- 1:17:49Cash up front straight up or have three years of paid
- 1:17:54vacations in full Five hundred thousand dollars in cash and I'm
- 1:17:59confused by anybody else. All right.
- 1:18:06Would you rather get into a cold bath / ice bath or do cryo?
- 1:18:12I've never done crying and it's funny because off the show
- 1:18:16better question to ask you because some baseball guys
- 1:18:20wanted to cry. Oh, all right.
- 1:18:23So I wish I could give that answer.
- 1:18:24I just cry old and I'm old. Remember, Rio didn't exist.
- 1:18:27Hey, I feel like I feel like that's an experiment that needs
- 1:18:30to happen. So put them in there and get
- 1:18:31back with. I agree record it, please
- 1:18:35recorded. Yes.
- 1:18:36I'm Not Afraid before. And after for all of you haven't
- 1:18:40done, cry out, cry out. Is awesome.
- 1:18:43It is very cold but it is awesome.
- 1:18:46And there's a lot of health benefits besides the
- 1:18:48restoration, but anyways, mechanical pencil or
- 1:18:52traditional, number 2 pencil. Ask a petit question.
- 1:18:57What am I doing with this? Can my drawing something?
- 1:19:05Am I am I am I getting my spin on?
- 1:19:08What are we doing here? Dear fighting.
- 1:19:10You're going so I need to know what it was.
- 1:19:12What am I doing? Stabbing, someone am I doing
- 1:19:15math? I'm just glad the other three
- 1:19:20tiles are the other two tiles. Gave you the same exact look
- 1:19:23that I just gave you exactly. Because it's a real question, if
- 1:19:27I'm doing math, I want a real pencil.
- 1:19:30Okay, well, we'll go with that writing down meet marks, it
- 1:19:36doesn't matter. Okay.
- 1:19:39See you look? I thought that was a great
- 1:19:41question and it isn't that isn't it is a great question but you
- 1:19:44just didn't I like math so I can tell you it would definitely be
- 1:19:47a real pencil because if you're going to do real math, you're
- 1:19:50going to make some mistakes. So you needed a good eraser.
- 1:19:53Anybody who's ever really tried to erase with a mechanical.
- 1:19:56Pencil knows that's hot garbage. Do you guys remember the
- 1:20:02erasable erasable ink pens? Oh yeah, yes and how horrible
- 1:20:07they were but still like great at the same time to go away.
- 1:20:13Anyway, this is Christina called it like mostly erasable ink.
- 1:20:18All right, would you rather eat chips and salsa or chips and
- 1:20:23guac? Again I want to meet the person
- 1:20:27who picks chips and salsa in this.
- 1:20:31What is wrong with your life? My daughter.
- 1:20:35I mean, one of my baseball guys is allergic to avocado.
- 1:20:37So okay, he would pick chips and salsa put lipstick.
- 1:20:40Yeah. Chips and guac.
- 1:20:41Sorry. Let me give my answer last one.
- 1:20:47Red vines or sisler's. Twizzlers.
- 1:20:52Twizzlers, we're not sisters. It's like Red Vines are steak
- 1:20:57interesting because there's our HomeTown Buffet.
- 1:21:01I'm going to say Twizzlers their middle more Vines, are they are
- 1:21:07there? That's because you probably
- 1:21:09thought you were eating Twizzlers.
- 1:21:10Yes, Twizzlers are more cherry-flavored their little
- 1:21:15thicker, little more durable. I like I like the Twizzlers.
- 1:21:22Yeah. Today, everybody has been doing
- 1:21:27this, start bench cut. Oh wait, hold on.
- 1:21:34Before I needed the support of question for the for everyone
- 1:21:38stale or fresh licorice. Yeah.
- 1:21:46Stale. What is what is wrong with her
- 1:21:52rich fail? I'm gonna go again with fresh
- 1:21:58and let me continue this case. All you want They've got a nice
- 1:22:07and crisp to it. It's not mushy.
- 1:22:09Doesn't get stuck in because they're right exactly.
- 1:22:13No, they're degrading. Exactly.
- 1:22:16She's eating carrion sees. No, anyways.
- 1:22:19Okay. Go ahead that I'm done.
- 1:22:24Would you rather meet your childhood Sports Idol today or
- 1:22:29play or Sports Idol in his or her prime?
- 1:22:34So, Okay. What are would I rather meet
- 1:22:41Jesse Owens or race? Jesse Owens is what you're
- 1:22:44asking do. Am I in my Prime?
- 1:22:49Yes rather. Would you rather meet Jesse
- 1:22:54Owens? Now now that you're retired and
- 1:22:57moved on. I would you rather compete
- 1:23:00against Jesse? Owens God?
- 1:23:01Those are two so greatly different but meaningful because
- 1:23:06I would love to talk to him. Yes.
- 1:23:09Now and be like talk to me about this experience and how do you
- 1:23:14go to an Olympics on a boat and train?
- 1:23:20But the competitor me says, listen, I got six long jumps and
- 1:23:24I got 100 I'm getting in that ass at some point.
- 1:23:31I guess if those are my only two options, I gotta pick compete
- 1:23:36eating again, some okay. Oh, that's a bad idea but I
- 1:23:39still think that's the one I would choose.
- 1:23:42He's never going to talk to you again.
- 1:23:45No, no. We're going to talk during the
- 1:23:46meet. I think that's what I'm going to
- 1:23:47do. You're going to talk?
- 1:23:49There's no response. Yes, you just he's a talker.
- 1:23:56It is Championship officially. With championship.
- 1:24:01Are you looking the most forward to you know, getting into either
- 1:24:08from a storyline perspective or just, you know, the marks, I'm
- 1:24:17going to say it's a push on both dual meets the Big 12 dual meet,
- 1:24:22and the SEC dual meet sort of sure dick.
- 1:24:31All right, wow. Go out on a limb right now and
- 1:24:33say this Texas and Texas Tech Will score 79 percent of the
- 1:24:39total points scored in the meat and the Victorian.
- 1:24:44He's probably not wrong. I know I'm not wrong but you
- 1:24:48know everybody's gonna call me a dick but okay, the mass.
- 1:24:52When the meats over, oh my God. Don't want to it's like to 82.
- 1:24:5776 47, it's gonna be ridiculous. And then the SEC meet right?
- 1:25:05Like, I mean, I know it's not going to be a dual meet, but I
- 1:25:11feel like Florida and Arkansas are going to be in everything on
- 1:25:17both genders, I feel like floor like I thought I'd just respect
- 1:25:19the Tennessee because how they might win me, I don't know.
- 1:25:21But I'm just saying it feels like a Florida Arkansas, dual
- 1:25:26meet both genders with some, you know, some nice commercials in
- 1:25:31there and some hey, look at this, check that out.
- 1:25:33But really, and truly I know that Dwight Stones is going to
- 1:25:37did 22 is going to tell this this is a dual meet.
- 1:25:43What I promised you listen, I refill doing two white stones.
- 1:25:46Is that cool? I just know, I know Daniel
- 1:25:50Bryan's on the, on the phone, the cast, but I could just, I
- 1:25:53don't know who else is, but I do know this, y'all can check the
- 1:25:56math 75%, I believe the text is a Texas Tech who scored 75
- 1:26:02music, especially on the women's side, they will score 75.
- 1:26:06Percent total points scored in the meat.
- 1:26:10He's not wrong. Oh, I know that.
- 1:26:16Anyways, the most top-heavy thing I've ever seen in a
- 1:26:19conference ever. So listen, I actually have to go
- 1:26:25downstairs, so can I jump to my heartbeat props?
- 1:26:28Yes. Yes it's Championship weekend
- 1:26:33heartbeat props have to go out to my crew and honestly to the
- 1:26:38Mountain West. It's my second year in the
- 1:26:41conference and I'm very happy to see the conference moving things
- 1:26:47in the right direction, that benefits the whole of the
- 1:26:51competition. And Mately will lift the
- 1:26:53competition and make everything better case in point.
- 1:26:58Last year at the Mountain West, in the prelims of the 200.
- 1:27:01We had athletes running in lane two and we had open lanes and it
- 1:27:05was just weird. I never really seen it before.
- 1:27:09We're not doing that this year. Everybody in the 200-meter
- 1:27:12prions either in Lane 6 5 or 4 here.
- 1:27:16So whatever we got, we're going to see the best version of this
- 1:27:19week and it's exciting. Nobody in three, nobody in three
- 1:27:25by nobody, that's in the present in the prelims and the finals,
- 1:27:30you won't get the Lang you get. But in the prelims, no one's in
- 1:27:33three. It sauces that is interesting.
- 1:27:38Not even sure that's legal, but it is interesting or it's legal.
- 1:27:42Oh, it's Lee. I mean, that's for people who do
- 1:27:44illegal things, always say my God.
- 1:27:48But now it, I mean the finals. You're going to have, you know,
- 1:27:50I know I got it. I listen, I know why you do it.
- 1:27:52I think you should do it. I get it.
- 1:27:54Yeah. So it's still and you know, my
- 1:27:58incredibly young team is here. Yeah, 85% freshman is their
- 1:28:03first time in, in anything that's real and I'm excited to
- 1:28:08see, you know what we got, I'm here for it so hopefully we rise
- 1:28:13to the occasion. Our women are projected fifth
- 1:28:17coming into the day and our men are projected forth and we have
- 1:28:21no intention of finishing in those places.
- 1:28:22So shout-out to the Mountain West and to San Jose State
- 1:28:27hopefully soon to be recognized as speed City.
- 1:28:31We'll find out. Okay, I have to heart be props
- 1:28:3912. Greg Foster.
- 1:28:46A man that was on his way out of the sport when I started and
- 1:28:54immediately had an effect on me from the standpoint of this Is
- 1:29:01what a professional looks like. This is what someone who is
- 1:29:06dedicated to his craft. This is how he carries himself.
- 1:29:09This is how he purports himself. This is what he projects out
- 1:29:13there. I mean, my early years, 93, 94,
- 1:29:1895 on the circuit. Yeah, I mean, it was clear that
- 1:29:23he was a master at his craft and, you know, we didn't have
- 1:29:29that many conversations. But he had a tremendous impact
- 1:29:35on me. Secondly, true.
- 1:29:40Go at the dove plug, one plug to sorry from De La Soul.
- 1:29:47I still remember picking up three feet high and rising from
- 1:29:53mean being I was at a track meet in Florida.
- 1:29:57And I picked this album up and listening and listening to it in
- 1:30:01my walkman and I'm just like, what in God's name is this?
- 1:30:07And Dale are still is and always will be one of the my favorite
- 1:30:12groups in hip-hop and you know to find out that he's been
- 1:30:19dealing with, you know, the heart.
- 1:30:21He was dealing with his heart ailment for a long long time,
- 1:30:25heart failure. He had a congenital heart
- 1:30:28failure. But yeah, I mean, thank you for
- 1:30:32the Memories. Thank you for you know, shaping
- 1:30:35my life. A musical standpoint shout-out
- 1:30:39today. Ella and it, and it's
- 1:30:42interesting because they just have now gotten to a point where
- 1:30:46they are now in control of their their streaming, being able to
- 1:30:53put their music out. I mean, for decades, there was
- 1:30:56you could not access their music on Apple and it just changed in
- 1:31:02the last couple of months. So, you know, some things, you
- 1:31:06know, you kind of Look at some things happen for a reason.
- 1:31:10But yeah, it wasn't my to Heart Beat Drops.
- 1:31:14Well said, This is man, I didn't come on this show to be crying.
- 1:31:20So I need you to stop. I talked earlier about the fact
- 1:31:26that I was my first national meet was was in Provo Utah.
- 1:31:31In in the 88, 89 season. I met Greg Foster and Gail
- 1:31:37Devers, and Bobby Kersey. Having snuck on the track and
- 1:31:42legally to to work out. My own freshman Jitters.
- 1:31:47They were on the track. So it was literally me and them,
- 1:31:5034, practice and Greg Foster's. The first person that wasn't my
- 1:31:58coach to ever tell me that I was going to be really good.
- 1:32:02Wow, I'm not sure how he assessed that.
- 1:32:06Hmm, But he did. Yeah, my heartbeat props.
- 1:32:16Actually they go out too. All of.
- 1:32:30All of the African American. Athletes.
- 1:32:36Who continue because it's Black History Month.
- 1:32:40I wanted to speak to their continuing fight.
- 1:32:48For their Blackness to not be relevant.
- 1:32:55I'm super duper impressed with. Young athletes, who are pushing
- 1:33:05the fight, further allowing further down the track than then
- 1:33:10we did Governor. And then we did a, you know,
- 1:33:13then the generation before us to have it not matter that your
- 1:33:20black decathlete or a black athlete.
- 1:33:27Like I say it's it warms the cockles of my heart that people
- 1:33:31just refer to Kyle Garland as a great decathlete.
- 1:33:36Right. The people refer to Ashton Eaton
- 1:33:39as a great decathlete. cuz, And my era.
- 1:33:47I was the next in a long long line of Great.
- 1:33:54Black decathletes who also are. I don't know.
- 1:33:59Olympic gold medalists, like Dan O'Brien, and Daley Thompson, and
- 1:34:03Rafer Johnson, and, and Milt. What's wrong with me?
- 1:34:13Keep milk Campbell, right? But our Blackness was what
- 1:34:18unfortunately seem to matter more than our greatness as
- 1:34:22athletes. And my heartbeat problem.
- 1:34:27Absolutely goes out to those who continue to Endeavor, just to be
- 1:34:31seen as a great, or, or athlete. And not a black one. you know,
- 1:34:42it's Is it tough landscape to be an athlete of color?
- 1:34:53It's a tough landscape to be in athletics and be a person of
- 1:34:56color. You know, we're in a world where
- 1:35:02the world wants us to accept the fact that it's okay that Eric be
- 1:35:06enemy has now been on super bowl-winning staff twice been in
- 1:35:12the Super Bowl three times and won five straight eight.
- 1:35:16AFC championships or been denied five straight AFC championships,
- 1:35:20but it's okay that he's been passed over my four job after
- 1:35:23job, because he needs to take a lateral move and show that he
- 1:35:28has ability to play call. So, most ridiculous nonsense
- 1:35:34ever told in the NFL. But he had to swallow that and
- 1:35:40leave a job. He was like listen, Eric Bana me
- 1:35:43wanted to leave the Chiefs for another coordinator job about as
- 1:35:47much as I want to, like be in charge of the clan but he wants
- 1:35:51to be a head coach and he was never, it was never going to
- 1:35:53happen. As long as he's the offensive
- 1:35:57coordinator, and Andy Reid is calling plays.
- 1:36:02And so, like, that's, you know, we always have to deal with that
- 1:36:05stuff, right? And we get one shot, you know,
- 1:36:08you're they give, they give the brown person, the head coaching
- 1:36:11job, if it doesn't go great, like, you might never ever see
- 1:36:15another one. And you get to be an assistant
- 1:36:19or you get to be a coordinator, those kind of things.
- 1:36:21But so my, you know, look, I'm I'm here for those who were
- 1:36:28championing that cause on a daily basis, still, because I
- 1:36:31can no longer, I'm just just a coach, right?
- 1:36:35I'm just an agent and I, you know, I fight those fights in a
- 1:36:38whole different way in a whole different sport, but to All the
- 1:36:42Young, The Young Brown, Athletes out there who just want to be
- 1:36:47great. And don't really want to be
- 1:36:51great for their skin color, my harpie props.
- 1:36:54Go out to all of them. Wrapping up heart.
- 1:36:59You props to all the bus drivers and people who transport US
- 1:37:05during all of our season. But specifically Championship
- 1:37:09season getting us here, safe for our team.
- 1:37:13Specifically, we've had some trials and tribulations is
- 1:37:16season, so I just appreciate getting here with no, no, no
- 1:37:19literal obstacles to get in our way.
- 1:37:22So thank you all because it's tireless and and thankless.
- 1:37:26And hopefully, The team that gets on your best next teach,
- 1:37:30you better than the last. So we think that's a great one
- 1:37:34to could because you know they go to all these meats and it'll
- 1:37:38never get to watch the meat because we have to sleep.
- 1:37:41Yeah. That's a great one.
- 1:37:44Well okay we support. I don't want to say spoil but we
- 1:37:47definitely try to make sure they're taken care of by many
- 1:37:51means. So well from a from a non from a
- 1:38:01non power 5 perspective, I'd like to give hardly props to
- 1:38:07cheaper bus prices. Yeah, if there's one thing that
- 1:38:24it is transportation and ground transportation in particular.
- 1:38:29Yes, I smell some 12 passenger, buses, Vans, coming our way I
- 1:38:36do. It's actual absolutely.
- 1:38:40There are already written down in my notes, so, Yeah, but the
- 1:38:44problem is, it's like those things are 200 bucks a day.
- 1:38:49Now whether you're through your Fleet Services, exactly.
- 1:38:56I mean not giving away Secrets, but I will say this, the one
- 1:39:00thing that was the greatest about working at the University
- 1:39:03of Oklahoma's, it had an entire fleet of cars, right?
- 1:39:08So if you want to recruit a chip, you just had to go down
- 1:39:10there and get a car. Yeah, that was awesome.
- 1:39:17All right. Well, with that said, Heidi Ho
- 1:39:21to Championship or rounding out a championship Championship
- 1:39:25weekend. The last chance weekends, for
- 1:39:28all of you have fun do well. But other than that, see
- 1:39:34everyone in a week. Hi everyone.
