- 0:07Hello, friends, and welcome back to the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast.
- 0:10With Kimberly Miller, where we believe that every man, woman,
- 0:14boy, and girl must come to Jesus just like the woman at the well in John chapter 4.
- 0:20Our highest priority is helping you experience the reality of God in your everyday life.
- 0:26Whether you're listening in our app, on your favorite podcast platform,
- 0:30are on our website at watwm.org.
- 0:34We invite you to sit down with us as we open the scriptures to learn more about
- 0:39who God is and to strengthen your daily walk.
- 1:03In this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast,
- 1:05join Kim Miller and Erica Close in a conversation as we walk with Jesus.
- 1:11In today's conversation, we're chatting about what life looks like when we choose
- 1:15to introduce our issues to the Lord.
- 1:19Well, thank you all so much for listening to us. My name is Erica Close,
- 1:22and I am here with Kim Miller.
- 1:24Hello, and thank you so much. I'm excited to talk about this very familiar account in Mark 5.
- 1:31So if you are a regular listener to our podcast, you likely listened to Monday's
- 1:36podcast, which was episode 660.
- 1:39It was called Don't Lose Hope, Trust and Believe.
- 1:43And in that podcast, Kim walked us through the account of the woman with the
- 1:47issue of blood out of Mark chapter 5.
- 1:51And in that account, Kim, you made such a clear distinction about what we're
- 1:59supposed to do with the issues that we have.
- 2:03We always call this woman, the woman with the issue of blood,
- 2:06and we all have issues in our lives.
- 2:09And you made such a clear distinction that it's not introducing the Lord to
- 2:14your issues, as in saying, hey, God, look at this problem I have,
- 2:18and this problem I have and this problem I have and this problem I had and telling
- 2:21the Lord all about your problems.
- 2:23But it's taking your issues to the Lord.
- 2:28It's introducing the issues to the Lord. I loved one of the things that you
- 2:32said on Monday's podcast, because you said someone introduced you to Jesus.
- 2:39And then you asked, what issue in your life do you need to introduce to Jesus.
- 2:45And it made me think of issues that I've had in my life.
- 2:52And when you said that, I could just see myself looking at that problem and
- 2:56just saying, let me tell you about my Jesus.
- 2:59And that's exactly what this woman does.
- 3:03With the issue of blood that we see in Mark 5, verses 25 through 34.
- 3:08It's again in Matthew 9, 20 and 22, and it's in Luke 8, I think 43 through 48.
- 3:16She comes, pushes her way through the crowd, because she knows that her issue is no match for Jesus.
- 3:27And so she comes in full faith. She's telling this issue, in my mind's eye,
- 3:34all about who Jesus is, and your time is up. Right.
- 3:39Your time has come because you haven't met your match. You've met the defeated.
- 3:47You're the defeated one. You have met defeat. And she hasn't even made it there yet.
- 3:52And that's what I mean by she has such faith that she has declared,
- 4:00to the issue that when I get you to Jesus and I introduce you to Jesus,
- 4:08you're done.
- 4:10And we pray about things and we ask God to help us, but we need to confront
- 4:15the issue and tell the issue who God is.
- 4:20You hear me say it from time to time, stop telling the Lord how big the storm
- 4:25is and start telling the storm how big God is.
- 4:27It's not that I'm telling you not to pray, but there's a difference in how you
- 4:32pray when you're bringing Jesus on the scene to take care of the situation.
- 4:38Let's talk about what that really looks like Because to me, that's almost,
- 4:43you know, we're talking about issues, right? We're talking about lots of issues
- 4:46here. We're talking about heartache.
- 4:48We could be talking about illness. Betrayal.
- 4:51We could be talking about financial problems. It's whatever is a stumbling block
- 4:57in your heart to your faith. Right.
- 4:59Whatever has your attention other than the goodness of God.
- 5:05Because when we give those things the attention, we allow the devil to use them
- 5:10to pull us from him. They become the mountain between you and him.
- 5:16Right. And Scripture has told us that if you have enough faith,
- 5:19you can say to this mountain, be you moved, and it is moved. Amen.
- 5:23Amen. And instead, we let the mountain cause us to retreat. Right.
- 5:28She did not. She did not. So when she took her issue and explained to the issue
- 5:37who God is, in my mind, what I see is her,
- 5:42you know, obviously she got to walk towards him. Praise the Lord.
- 5:45Right. He was right there, physically right there. But it's like she,
- 5:49in my mind, she is declaring over the issue every single thing she knows about who God is.
- 5:58And she is demonstrating her faith and her belief that that issue can't stand against her God.
- 6:09And I wonder how many of us pray like that. I don't think we do because let's
- 6:14pause for a second and talk about how we do usually pray, right?
- 6:19Our prayers are, oh Lord, I need help with this and this and this and this and
- 6:27this and even when we don't approach it,
- 6:29like a laundry list like that or a shopping list right it's still.
- 6:37Hey lord these are my problems and you say it in a way like,
- 6:43how about you do something about it right not like okay it's done you've done
- 6:51this and and I feel strongly that I will pray differently,
- 6:56and I have a strong prayer life but I I'm I'm ready to to claim those promises
- 7:02say to that mountain bee you moved and it'll be moved I'm ready to bulldoze some mountains because,
- 7:10I have the power of Jesus living in me absolutely and you,
- 7:15know who God is and you.
- 7:18You know, we have this conversation often on our podcast about how important it is to,
- 7:27our own faith to remember what the Lord has done and to declare what we know
- 7:32about who he is in such a way that,
- 7:37it strengthens our faith.
- 7:39Like if I repeat, I mean, you hearken back in your message, you hearken back
- 7:44to Jesus loves me, right? You say Jesus loves me, this I know,
- 7:46but the Bible tells me so.
- 7:48Often yep right but you don't just say that because you like it or because you
- 7:53like the song it's it's truth,
- 7:56and when we declare truth in our lives and over our lives we're we're spreading
- 8:03the power of god over the things,
- 8:07that cause us issues right,
- 8:12i think that this woman spoken spoke boldly when she said,
- 8:19if I can just touch his garment,
- 8:24I'll be made whole.
- 8:26But she didn't just say it.
- 8:29She put legs on those prayers, and she moved forward claiming what she knew to be true about God.
- 8:40And she didn't even have the verse that says, I am persuaded that he is able
- 8:46to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
- 8:50She didn't have that opportunity to read that and have it, you know,
- 8:55in her heart that she wouldn't sin against God.
- 8:59But she had it in her heart because she was persuaded. She was absolutely persuaded.
- 9:04She was living 2 Timothy 1.12.
- 9:08Because he says, he knows in who I'm believed in and persuaded that he is able
- 9:12to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
- 9:15And she was committed and persuaded that God was going to make her whole.
- 9:23I think, you know, when I think about her actions contrasted with what we so often do.
- 9:31So many of our prayers, even when we're taking things to the Lord, it's a hope so contract.
- 9:37Or like an, oh, woe is me. Like it's an Eeyore type of prayer.
- 9:41I hope so contract. That's really good. I hope you'll take care of this.
- 9:44You said you would, but maybe it's not your will.
- 9:49I hope so. This woman did not have a hope so faith.
- 9:54She would have taken, if he'd have struck her dead, she'd have been perfectly
- 9:59fine because she would have believed she was whole.
- 10:03See, we don't get it our way.
- 10:05You think he didn't do his job. That's what I'm talking about.
- 10:08I hope you'll do this. I hope you'll get me out of this jam.
- 10:12What we're really saying is, is I hope you get me out of this jam the way I've
- 10:16just told you to do it. The way I want it done.
- 10:19That's not faith. That's stupidity. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
- 10:25What it is, is not walking with an understanding of what we have because we have Christ, right?
- 10:36We are invited, because of his death on the cross and the relationship we have
- 10:41with him, we are invited to walk into the throne room of God.
- 10:46We're supposed to stay there. Absolutely. Forget this walk-in business.
- 10:51He says to pray without ceasing. So we are invited and we are.
- 10:56Expected to stay in the throne room of God, to stay in his presence,
- 11:03to approach every aspect of our life in such a way that he is in control, right?
- 11:10That the Holy Spirit is over our problems, that God himself is hovering and is sovereign. it.
- 11:18And I think we just walk beneath our privileges, but she did not.
- 11:24No, no, no, she's not. She stopped.
- 11:28She took advantage of the situation that was there. She knew it was going to
- 11:32be there. And she took her issue directly to him and told her issue what was going to happen.
- 11:39She wasn't trying to fix it on our own, which so many of us do,
- 11:43she told the issue who God was.
- 11:47She claimed the healing, and she took it to him.
- 11:51And the scriptures say she heard of him. And the way that.
- 11:57The interaction unfolds. This man she left with more than just hearing of him.
- 12:04She was brought in. He called her daughter, which is even more important than
- 12:09if he had called her by name because clearly he knew who it was and all those people.
- 12:16But she came as one who had not met him, and she left as one who was part of him.
- 12:27That's unbelievable. It really is. And we all can do that.
- 12:31We can. And we all of us, most of us listening to this podcast has come to know him as Savior.
- 12:37But, hey, send me an email if you are living like that woman and help me out. But I'm working on it.
- 12:46I want to go back, you know, in Monday's message, and we talked about this just
- 12:51a few moments ago, So we asked the question, what issue in your life do you
- 12:55need to introduce to Jesus?
- 12:58And I would just like to invite everybody to just think for a moment,
- 13:03you know, what is the issue in your life that you need to stop talking about,
- 13:11to Jesus, to other people?
- 13:13And send Jesus to it.
- 13:16Right. I just tell that issue, I'm not fighting this anymore.
- 13:21Right. The battle's not mine, it belongs to it. And let me tell you who's coming to kick your rear.
- 13:25And that's the thing is, let me tell you about who's coming.
- 13:28And that's when every promise that we know of who God is, every name that we
- 13:34have for Jesus, every truth that we know about him, we throw at the issue.
- 13:42And in doing so, number one, the issue is defeated.
- 13:46But number two, you can't declare all of that truth over your issue and not
- 13:53have a change in your heart and not have a growth in your faith. It's impossible.
- 13:59I know I won't be the same for having been given that message. And...
- 14:04If you don't have what it takes to declare that over your issue,
- 14:11to tell your issue, we invite you to find somebody who does.
- 14:16What a way to be a partner to someone than to declare the truth over someone's problems.
- 14:26You've got to have prayer partners. Absolutely. They're more than accountability
- 14:30buddies. they can also sustain you when your face is a little weak.
- 14:37I think after listening to Monday's podcast, if there was.
- 14:42If I ever needed a reason, and I don't because I know, but if I ever needed
- 14:46a reason to study and to know God's word, it's because I want to have all of that,
- 14:55I'm going to use the word ammunition for lack of a better word,
- 14:58that I can use to fire at the issues that come up in my life. Amen.
- 15:04Amen. In that message, you... Don't you love him? I do love him.
- 15:08I really do. I so love him.
- 15:11In that message, as you closed, you talked about the mountain.
- 15:16And you said, when you do this,
- 15:20and you introduce the issues in your life to the truth of who God is,
- 15:26you said that the mountain no longer holds the space between you and Him. Amen.
- 15:34And that's how the mountain is moved.
- 15:39When we declare that that mountain needs to be moved.
- 15:43They go right through it in the name of Jesus. We go through it in the name of Jesus.
- 15:47And when it no longer occupies that space between you and him, it's moved.
- 15:54I want to invite you all to listen to Monday's podcast.
- 15:59We just talked about a snippet of what we heard in that podcast.
- 16:06But I think this is a powerful thought.
- 16:10What issue in your life do you need to introduce to Jesus?
- 16:14What does that look like? What does it look like for you to declare what you
- 16:19know to be true over the problems in your life, over the hurt,
- 16:26betrayal, the illness, the.
- 16:30Discontent, anxiety, whatever it might be, you know who God is.
- 16:38Tell the problem who he is. Tell the problem who he is. Declare that over the problem.
- 16:46And if you need someone to pray with you, email us. We would love to pray with you.
- 16:51I'm Kim at WATWM.org. And Erica is Erica, E-R-I-K-A at W-A-T-W-M.org.
- 16:59And we would love to pray with you as you defeat the giants in your life by
- 17:06letting God fight your battle and you bulldoze the mountains because they don't exist,
- 17:13because you simply told them to move.
- 17:15Amen. I think everybody should join us in Jesus loves me. Sounds like a plan.
- 17:21It's always the right thing.
- 18:20So.
