- Sean Graver: I have a question that you need to answer honestly. When's the last time you felt like you could actually set some of this work down? Not tomorrow, but just for a minute. Set it down. All right, welcome back. I'm Sean. This is Prayer Before Work. And in Matthew 11, verses 28 and 29, Jesus says, Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Rest for your souls, not just your schedule, your soul. There's a kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix. You know what I mean? It's the tired that comes from caring for a lot of things for too long, like decisions, ⁓ Expectations, ambiguous problems, that's that's my favorite. Or it might be relationships that take more than they give. Now that tired lives in you somewhere below the surface. And it doesn't go away when the work day ends because you end up taking it home with you. Now Jesus was talking to people who were exhausted, not just physically, but in deep kind of tired that comes from ⁓ you know, ⁓ just a burdensome or a heavy life. And his invitation is still the same. Come. Don't wait till you have it figured out and or until you're managing it ⁓ you know, better, cause now is the time. The yoke he describes isn't freedom from responsibility. It's responsibility shared with someone whose strength doesn't doesn't run out. And you weren't meant to carry all of this alone. And you don't have to. So let's pray. Jesus, I am tired in ways I don't always say out loud. And I'm bringing what I'm carrying to you right now, because you said to come, carry this with me today. Would you give me the rest that only you can give? I mean, not just for my body, but for my soul. Jesus, it's in your name we pray. Amen. Go make today count.
