- 1:41Speaker 2: All right, coming up inside The Treehouse Show today. Women
- 1:51Speaker 2: cannot have everything. Also, don't jack and drive.
- 1:56Speaker 3: And.
- 1:57Speaker 2: We are going to start today with a major, major F-up.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's two meanings there, isn't it, Trey?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Both are very true. Both are accurate.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Which one is it we're talking about? We'll tell you
- 2:14Speaker 2: coming up on the show in just a little bit.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Today we are going to start with some asshat online
- 2:21Speaker 2: who said, The time I effed up by proving to
- 2:26Speaker 2: my wife she's heavier than she thought.
- 2:32Speaker 3: What? Good Lord.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I realize this is in the Tfue subreddit, the time
- 2:41Speaker 2: I effed up, but they need to create a whole
- 2:45Speaker 2: new subreddit account.
- 2:49Speaker 3: The time I died.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Because I haven't even read the entire story, but just
- 2:59Speaker 2: seeing that a man thought it would be a good
- 3:02Speaker 2: idea not only to tell his wife that she is heavy,
- 3:09Speaker 2: but to take it a step further by saying, yes,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you are heavy and you're heavier than you think you are. Like,
- 3:19Speaker 2: unless this guy is a height and weight or age
- 3:23Speaker 2: and weight barker at the state fair, he should not
- 3:27Speaker 2: be anywhere near this arena.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You really missed one of the key details of this story.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Please.
- 3:38Speaker 1: She's five months post having a baby.
- 3:41Speaker 3: See, I didn't read the whole thing. I'm just going
- 3:44Speaker 3: based on the headline here.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Five months after having a baby, he tells his wife, A,
- 3:51Speaker 2: you're big, and B, you're bigger than you think you are.
- 3:53Speaker 1: All right, so here, I'll give you the nuts and
- 3:56Speaker 1: bolts of the story.
- 3:58Speaker 3: The TLDR?
- 4:00Speaker 1: The wife, you know, put on some weight having the kid.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Like you do. Yep.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And she, five months post having the kid, said she
- 4:14Speaker 1: was in a great mood one day and said, that
- 4:19Speaker 1: she had, you know, was down to like 70, 77
- 4:26Speaker 1: kilograms from 87 kilograms, 10 pounds. Or no, I'm sorry,
- 4:33Speaker 1: 10 kilograms, which is about 21, 22 pounds. Okay. And
- 4:41Speaker 1: she had told him her weight a while back. So
- 4:44Speaker 1: he knew, and you know, he's, in his mind, he's going,
- 4:47Speaker 1: she hasn't lost 22 pounds. So I'm going to, you know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: so then they go through this whole deal of she
- 4:55Speaker 1: goes and gets on the scale and shows him. And
- 4:57Speaker 1: then he has to really examine the scale and realize
- 5:01Speaker 1: that it's not on all four stands. It's one stand
- 5:06Speaker 1: is in a like crack in the tile. And so
- 5:09Speaker 1: then he has to balance it out, level it, and
- 5:11Speaker 1: then show her that no, she hasn't lost any weight.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You see, I'm a firm believer there are two types
- 5:18Speaker 2: of people in this world. Those who want to be
- 5:22Speaker 2: happy and those who want to be right. You cannot
- 5:26Speaker 2: have both at the same time.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Oh my God, yes.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And it's very difficult if you find yourself in a
- 5:33Speaker 2: relationship where one of you just wants to be happy
- 5:38Speaker 2: slash at peace together.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And the other has to be right.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It's a difficult situation.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I'm going to go devil's advocate on this one.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And, Dan, I know you. I've known you a long time.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We're not talking about a couple pounds. We're talking about
- 5:57Speaker 1: 22 pounds. If anyone told you they lost 22 pounds
- 6:02Speaker 1: and they clearly haven't, you're going to just let that go.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Yes. Ignore switch engaged.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Especially if you live with them.
- 6:15Speaker 3: If they know where you sleep and how you sleep. Okay. Look, Trey,
- 6:22Speaker 3: you're not wrong.
- 6:24Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Like I, I, I, I get it. Okay.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think though, it's like in my brain, I am
- 6:30Speaker 2: really weighing the consequences here because if she says I
- 6:36Speaker 2: have lost 22 pounds.
- 6:39Speaker 3: My first thought is that's great.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You look fantastic.
- 6:46Speaker 3: But if you know for a fact that they either
- 6:49Speaker 3: look the.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Same or maybe they actually look like they may have
- 6:53Speaker 2: gained weight or like in the case of this guy,
- 6:57Speaker 2: the scale was on a crack in the tile.
- 6:59Speaker 3: So, you know, the scale was not properly balanced.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Then you've got to weigh the consequences of you saying
- 7:05Speaker 2: something about it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So, yeah, in the story, he says his wife, she
- 7:09Speaker 1: had been working at it and working out and trying
- 7:12Speaker 1: to lose weight. And this is, you know, he talks
- 7:16Speaker 1: about how she was just so happy and radiant that
- 7:19Speaker 1: she lost this weight. Now, at some point, she's going
- 7:23Speaker 1: to go to the doctor and find out, no, she hasn't.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Yes, but then that's not on you.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Let the doctor eat it.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So... She's going to come home crushed.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and when she comes home, she tells you what happened.
- 7:43Speaker 2: You go, you were angry. You were mad at that
- 7:46Speaker 2: medical staff, and you were mad at that scale. You
- 7:49Speaker 2: go in the bathroom, you take that scale, and you
- 7:51Speaker 2: hold it up, and you scream at it and say,
- 7:53Speaker 2: how dare you?
- 7:54Speaker 3: And then you throw it out.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Well, she's going to ask you, did your weight change
- 7:59Speaker 1: at all?
- 8:03Speaker 3: And that's when you say, you see, this is why
- 8:05Speaker 3: I don't weigh myself. Mm-hmm.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And why do you have the scale in the bathroom?
- 8:14Speaker 1: I've seen you on it. I know you weigh yourself, Dan.
- 8:19Speaker 1: So you let me go to the doctor knowing I
- 8:22Speaker 1: hadn't lost all this weight. Do you know how embarrassed
- 8:25Speaker 1: I was? I was bragging to the nurse how much
- 8:27Speaker 1: weight I'd lost.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I thought you had. I don't know why.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Really? You think the 22 pounds, you let me really
- 8:34Speaker 1: think that?
- 8:35Speaker 4: You are always beautiful to me. Jerry just died. You
- 8:41Speaker 4: just gave up the high ground, Jerry.
- 8:43Speaker 3: You're like, you're always beautiful.
- 8:44Speaker 2: That's conceding that you were wrong and that it doesn't matter.
- 8:48Speaker 2: You have to stay with the denial. You cannot give
- 8:52Speaker 2: up the denial. You are now in it and you
- 8:56Speaker 2: are in it forever. When I got on the scale,
- 9:01Speaker 2: I didn't notice any difference because I... But when you
- 9:05Speaker 2: got on, I just assumed it was right because my
- 9:07Speaker 2: weight seemed the same And yours was down, so why
- 9:10Speaker 2: would I question the scale or your beautiful judgment?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Did you know the scale was wrong?
- 9:16Speaker 3: No, it kept telling me the same thing.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Every time I stepped on it. Are you lying to me?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Are you really going to lie about this?
- 9:27Speaker 3: About the scale?
- 9:29Speaker 1: Let's go get on the scale and see what you weigh,
- 9:31Speaker 1: see if your weight's changed.
- 9:33Speaker 3: We can't. I threw it out, remember? Remember? And that's
- 9:35Speaker 3: why you throw that out. I am much better at
- 9:40Speaker 3: this than Jerry.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Uh, look, you may end up dead in the end anyway,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but man, I'm going to put up a fight. I'm
- 9:52Speaker 2: gonna go down swing that i get it you're right
- 9:59Speaker 2: if she says like the scale says i dropped 30
- 10:02Speaker 2: pounds and you're like really you you only have two
- 10:09Speaker 2: plausible choices two realistic choices.
- 10:13Speaker 3: One is you do the the thing where you just
- 10:17Speaker 3: like That's great. I'm so happy for you. That's awesome.
- 10:22Speaker 3: The other is you say, oh, that's awesome. Oh, wait
- 10:29Speaker 3: a second.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And you start going towards the scale because you've noticed
- 10:34Speaker 2: that it's on a crack in the tile. And you're like, look,
- 10:37Speaker 2: just FYI, I love you. I love you with every
- 10:42Speaker 2: ounce of my being. but this scale might not be
- 10:47Speaker 2: in the right spot. See on this, it's in this
- 10:48Speaker 2: crack here. And I, let me just shift this over.
- 10:53Speaker 3: And then you step on the scale and you say,
- 10:55Speaker 3: it's fucking broken and you throw it out.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Or you go, my gosh, that is great, honey. I
- 11:05Speaker 1: bet we're going to need to get you some new clothes.
- 11:06Speaker 1: How many dress sizes have you dropped?
- 11:13Speaker 3: Do you have a death wish?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Hey, you are excited for her. You don't know.
- 11:20Speaker 2: But here's what's going to happen in that scenario. Then
- 11:23Speaker 2: she's going to take you out of the scary bathroom
- 11:25Speaker 2: and take you into the more terrifying bedroom where she
- 11:28Speaker 2: is going to then try stuff on while you sit
- 11:31Speaker 2: and wait for her to come out and ask, does
- 11:34Speaker 2: this make me look fat?
- 11:35Speaker 3: And here's the problem. She goes into that closet. She's
- 11:38Speaker 3: going to put it on and know something's not right.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So she knows what the answer is.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Deep down, she's got to know. Again, we're not talking
- 11:46Speaker 1: about 5 pounds. We're talking about 20, 22 pounds. So
- 11:50Speaker 1: she's got to, in the back of her mind, have
- 11:51Speaker 1: some question about it. I think the dress size thing
- 11:53Speaker 1: is a really good, safe play. Because then she's going
- 11:57Speaker 1: to register, I haven't changed, you know, my dress size
- 12:01Speaker 1: hasn't changed.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And then maybe she'll leave you on the edge of
- 12:05Speaker 2: the bed, leave the closet, and go into the bathroom
- 12:09Speaker 2: and re-weigh and then see that maybe.
- 12:12Speaker 3: It didn't add up. Look, it's going to be a
- 12:16Speaker 3: bad day for you either way.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It really is an interesting question of how much delusion
- 12:23Speaker 1: do you allow?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Oh, you get to allow me to feel certain things now, Trey?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Will you please tell me when it's okay to be happy?
- 12:38Speaker 1: This isn't something I'm saying to her. This is something
- 12:40Speaker 1: I'm saying to you guys.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Exactly. Keep it, keep it.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 3: This is the inner dialogue.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I have been on this earth long enough. Very seldom.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Am I going to use the term delusion with a
- 12:53Speaker 1: woman at all without having some kind of safety gear?
- 13:00Speaker 3: In the, uh, in, in the chat here, double AJ.
- 13:06Speaker 2: No, because when, because then she'll ask you, why didn't
- 13:09Speaker 2: you say anything? Do you not notice when I do
- 13:13Speaker 2: and don't change?
- 13:14Speaker 3: There's no win there. Well put, AJ.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Sean's saying, and this is why Trey is single. And Chad,
- 13:25Speaker 2: I love this. Chad, nope, you just play dumb and
- 13:27Speaker 2: hope it works out. That may actually be the best play.
- 13:31Speaker 2: You just play as dumb as you possibly can get
- 13:33Speaker 2: away with and just hope for the best.
- 13:37Speaker 4: It is.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It is a no-win situation. Because sooner or later, it's
- 13:43Speaker 1: going to come back and bite you in the ass.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Because if she really is delusional and thinks she's lost
- 13:49Speaker 1: 22 pounds when she hasn't, again, she's going to go
- 13:52Speaker 1: to the doctor at some point and figure it out.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Or that scale is going to get moved back correctly. See,
- 13:59Speaker 1: this is the thing where the guy really... So in
- 14:02Speaker 1: the story, he re-centers the scale and then tells her
- 14:07Speaker 1: to get back on it. That's the dumb move. You
- 14:11Speaker 1: just re-center the scale and let her figure it out.
- 14:15Speaker 3: You walk in. You just go, hmm. You look down
- 14:18Speaker 3: at the scale.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You take your foot and you gently nudge it into
- 14:22Speaker 2: proper position and then you leave.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And you don't say anything.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You don't highlight the fact, you know what? You dumb cow.
- 14:30Speaker 2: You didn't do it right here. Try it again now. Oh,
- 14:33Speaker 2: this may not be big enough. We may have to
- 14:35Speaker 2: take you to one of those weigh stations on the
- 14:37Speaker 2: side of the interstate to make sure. He might as
- 14:40Speaker 2: well be saying all that stuff because it's going to
- 14:43Speaker 2: be ugly.
- 14:43Speaker 1: You fix the scale and let her figure it out.
- 14:47Speaker 1: You don't tell her, here, honey.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 14:52Speaker 4: I still feel it's going to be easier for you
- 14:54Speaker 4: the more you let her slash someone else help her
- 14:59Speaker 4: with that realization.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I love Linda in the chat. She says, this is
- 15:05Speaker 2: where I lose my girl card. Tell me if I
- 15:08Speaker 2: look fat in those jeans. I want to know if
- 15:10Speaker 2: I look bad.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they all say. Uh-uh.
- 15:13Speaker 2: We're not falling for it, Linda. We don't fall for
- 15:15Speaker 2: it in our relationships, or we're not about to fall
- 15:17Speaker 2: for it in the chat inside the treehouse hangout lounge.
- 15:22Speaker 3: We're not buying it, Linda. As cool as I know
- 15:26Speaker 3: you are, mm-mm. Too old, too wise, we all know better.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 15:35Speaker 3: And that's our story, and we're sticking to it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:40Speaker 3: That man is lucky to be alive. I don't know.
- 15:45Speaker 3: If he makes it to his next birthday, I'll be
- 15:47Speaker 3: very surprised.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Let's get Daniel Cook from Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration
- 15:52Speaker 2: into the treehouse. 833-COOK-DFW is the phone number to get
- 15:56Speaker 2: your free roof inspection and property review scheduled. The website, cookdfw.com.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I'm going to say some scary words, Daniel.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Super El Nino.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And the effect that is going to have on weather,
- 16:15Speaker 2: especially in the North Texas area.
- 16:19Speaker 4: You know, you're right.
- 16:21Speaker 5: We just are officially in going into the Super El Nino.
- 16:25Speaker 5: The reason why is because it's warmer than a regular
- 16:27Speaker 5: El Nino. And it does prelude that we will have
- 16:32Speaker 5: a wetter higher rain percentage than a normal year.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Or shall we say on El Nino.
- 16:40Speaker 5: So there are some differences, speculations, nothing is set in stone.
- 16:45Speaker 5: This is not a guarantee that we're going to have
- 16:46Speaker 5: a deluge of water for the next year. I mean,
- 16:49Speaker 5: that's just not what it means. Scientific data says, hey,
- 16:53Speaker 5: we might have a wetter than normal.
- 16:55Speaker 1: We could have more storms. It could be just a
- 16:58Speaker 1: lot of rain. We all need to go out and
- 16:59Speaker 1: build arcs. I don't know.
- 17:01Speaker 5: But I mean, it Be prepared. The moral of the
- 17:04Speaker 5: story is every day you live in North Texas, especially
- 17:07Speaker 5: in North Texas, be prepared. Know how your home is sitting.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Know how your roof looks. Know how your windows are working.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Know if your doors have holes in them.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I mean, just know your home.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Know your home.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Call us out.
- 17:19Speaker 3: We want to educate you.
- 17:20Speaker 5: We will come around, walk you around, show you things
- 17:22Speaker 5: that you should know, and then we can help you
- 17:24Speaker 5: with getting them taken care of.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And no pressure, all education.
- 17:28Speaker 2: And Daniel and his fine team at Cook DFW will
- 17:31Speaker 2: take care of you, the homeowner.
- 17:33Speaker 3: With very, very gentle hands. I know because I've been
- 17:35Speaker 3: in them. 833-COOK-DFW. That sound bad?
- 17:38Speaker 4: Sounded bad.
- 17:38Speaker 2: 833-COOK-DFW. Get that scheduled today. The website, cookdfw.com. Speaking of birthdays,
- 17:52Speaker 2: when this episode comes out, it will be Thursday, September.
- 17:56Speaker 3: 17th, 2026.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Let's celebrate today with some birthdays. And what could have
- 18:03Speaker 2: been a decent segue, but I had to highlight it
- 18:06Speaker 2: like an idiot recentering his wife's scale, so she'll step
- 18:09Speaker 2: back on it and prove to him and.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Her how right he was.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Kyle Chandler is 61 today. Kyle Chandler, 61 today. Coach
- 18:21Speaker 2: Eric Taylor from TV's Friday Night Lights.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Plus, he was in Argo, Super 8, Bloodline.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Right now, though, I think Jerry and I know him
- 18:32Speaker 2: for if you're watching it, Jerry, the new lanterns show
- 18:36Speaker 2: on HBO max.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Green about the green lanterns.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Yeah. I have not gotten to watch that yet.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I think I'm an episode in, I think I finished
- 18:45Speaker 3: the first episode.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Two questions on TV. Either one of y'all watch silo.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:53Speaker 1: No. Have you finished the third season?
- 18:58Speaker 4: I have not. I have not. I've only been through
- 19:00Speaker 4: the first so far.
- 19:01Speaker 3: It is fantastic.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Second and third, just absolutely. It takes a twist that
- 19:06Speaker 1: I did not see coming.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Real quick, that's a show that stars Rebecca Ferguson from
- 19:11Speaker 2: the Mission Impossible movies, right?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Yes. Tim Robbins.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Tim Robbins is awesome. So I really like her. And
- 19:20Speaker 2: do I have the premise of the show right? Is
- 19:22Speaker 2: it post-apocalyptic and people live in a silo?
- 19:25Speaker 1: Something like that, yes.
- 19:27Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I know it's a show I've wanted to see. I
- 19:30Speaker 3: just haven't yet.
- 19:31Speaker 1: At the end of season two, it throws in a
- 19:36Speaker 1: major plot twist.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And then at the end of the season three, it,
- 19:46Speaker 1: that plot twist, it's hard to explain. It's fantastically written. So,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and there's, it's a four season, like they've already, four
- 19:57Speaker 1: seasons already going to be next summer. And that'll be
- 20:00Speaker 1: the final season, but excellent, excellent show.
- 20:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And by the way, also one of the things, Stuart
- 20:10Speaker 1: tries to say whatever the show is.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Stuart fails to save the universe.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Pretty good.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I've been pleasantly surprised.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah, we were all worried about that.
- 20:21Speaker 4: That's exactly what I was going to say, yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we were all thinking it was going to be
- 20:23Speaker 3: a dud, but so pretty good. Okay, that's good. That
- 20:26Speaker 3: makes me happy. The difficulty. Okay, look. You know the saying,
- 20:35Speaker 3: careful what you wish for, because you just might get it?
- 20:38Speaker 2: Remember back in the day when we were tired of
- 20:42Speaker 2: cable paying for 300 something channels and we only watched
- 20:45Speaker 2: a handful of them?
- 20:47Speaker 3: And well, careful what you wish for because now we
- 20:50Speaker 3: got it.
- 20:50Speaker 2: So now instead of cable, most of us have cut
- 20:53Speaker 2: the cord and we started having apps. Well, now there's
- 20:58Speaker 2: like a million apps and they're hard to track. And
- 21:01Speaker 2: now we wish we could go back to cable where
- 21:03Speaker 2: they're all in one place and it's easier to find
- 21:06Speaker 2: stuff like Trey has done.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I still have my, I've actually cut some of the
- 21:11Speaker 1: subscriptions and I just, I have DirecTV and so I get,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I can still channel surf, which, and I guess it's
- 21:18Speaker 1: an age thing. I genuinely find cathartic just on a
- 21:24Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon, Saturday afternoon, just flipping through channels. Oh, hey,
- 21:27Speaker 1: that's on. I'll watch movies with commercials. Just, you know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I know I could go watch them without, but I'm like,
- 21:33Speaker 1: you know, there's just something about old school. You catch
- 21:36Speaker 1: something on, you watch it.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and from wherever it picked up. You don't even
- 21:41Speaker 2: try to start it from the beginning or anything. I'm
- 21:44Speaker 2: just going to pick it up in the middle because
- 21:45Speaker 2: I've seen it enough times. I don't need to start
- 21:47Speaker 2: it from the front.
- 21:49Speaker 3: But yeah, no, I'm with you on that.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But it's so hard now because there's so many apps,
- 21:53Speaker 2: there's so many networks and all these things. There's so
- 21:56Speaker 2: many shows. This is the problem we have now. We
- 21:59Speaker 2: used to say we didn't have enough shows to watch
- 22:01Speaker 2: on too many nothing channels. Well, now we've got so
- 22:03Speaker 2: many channels and now so many shows to watch. There's
- 22:07Speaker 2: still lots of crap out there, but there's enough good
- 22:09Speaker 2: stuff that it's hard to catch up. Like the list,
- 22:13Speaker 2: the list I have just keeps growing of shows and
- 22:16Speaker 2: or movies that I want to watch. And I can't
- 22:19Speaker 2: get like we just last night watched the first.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Episode of the pit. Ah, Katie and I just started
- 22:28Speaker 4: watching hacks and we have been binging the crap out
- 22:32Speaker 4: of it. It is so good. Jean Smart, the star
- 22:37Speaker 4: of that, from Designing Women, you probably remember from that show.
- 22:41Speaker 4: She is the first actress in history to win an
- 22:44Speaker 4: Emmy for every single season of a show that they're
- 22:46Speaker 4: the lead in. It's that good.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Goddamn.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's not very often that I get pulled into something
- 22:54Speaker 2: based on awards. It might heighten my curiosity for something,
- 22:57Speaker 2: especially if I wasn't aware.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Of it before.
- 23:01Speaker 2: But that little note, Jerry, has me curious about that show, Hacks.
- 23:05Speaker 2: The Emmys, you know, the other night, I think the
- 23:09Speaker 2: show Widow's Bay broke the record for the most Emmy
- 23:12Speaker 2: wins with 14.
- 23:15Speaker 3: 14 Emmys.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Holy crap.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I have no idea what the thing is about, but
- 23:20Speaker 2: it turned my head when I saw a show winning
- 23:22Speaker 2: 14 Emmys in one night, and it's immediately now at
- 23:27Speaker 2: the top of my list of curiosity to be like, A,
- 23:30Speaker 2: what is it?
- 23:31Speaker 3: And B... I feel like I need to see it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: 14 Emmys.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I've never even heard of it. Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I think I remember seeing like a promotional still for
- 23:44Speaker 2: it on one of the apps. I don't know if
- 23:46Speaker 2: it was Hulu or what. And that's other things like
- 23:49Speaker 2: I'll see a show and I don't know which app
- 23:51Speaker 2: it's on. I want to say it's Hulu. I could
- 23:54Speaker 2: be wrong, but yeah, it's this show. I saw it
- 23:57Speaker 2: when it was first released. It's a show that's called
- 23:59Speaker 2: Widows Bay.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I think I saw like a like the image that
- 24:02Speaker 2: it showed was just a like a like a rowboat
- 24:06Speaker 2: or something in front of a lighthouse.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Widow's Bay.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I have no idea what that is. And then like
- 24:10Speaker 2: a month later, they've won 14 Emmys.
- 24:12Speaker 1: That is the subscription that I am torn on whether
- 24:15Speaker 1: I want to cancel or not is my Hulu Disney
- 24:18Speaker 1: ESPN bundle.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I don't have the ESPN bundle. I just got the ES.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I just had the Disney Hulu combo. and I keep it,
- 24:28Speaker 2: if for nothing else, the Marvel stuff, because this year
- 24:31Speaker 2: I went through and re-watched all the Marvel, so I
- 24:33Speaker 2: needed it.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I cut Paramount. I cut Peacock. Netflix and HBO are
- 24:42Speaker 1: probably my big two. Apple TV, I have a bundle
- 24:49Speaker 1: with music, TV, all the crap. Um, and then prime because, well,
- 25:03Speaker 1: prime TV is just a ancillary bonus.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. It comes with a subscription. Yeah. And
- 25:08Speaker 3: for me, like watching a reacher right now.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Um, so yeah, Kyle Chandler is 61 today. Um, I
- 25:18Speaker 2: can't remember. So yeah, I'm only one episode into lanterns.
- 25:21Speaker 2: It's okay so far.
- 25:22Speaker 3: We'll see. I have no idea. Other birthdays today. Bobby
- 25:25Speaker 3: Lee is 55. He is a comedian.
- 25:27Speaker 2: He's also a podcaster, former Mad TV cast member. He
- 25:32Speaker 2: and the guy he does the show with, I honestly
- 25:35Speaker 2: don't know, the podcast is called Bad Friends.
- 25:38Speaker 3: One of the top podcasts in the world.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Good for them.
- 25:42Speaker 3: So Bobby Lee, 55.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Director Baz Luhrmann is 64. Some of his movies include
- 25:48Speaker 2: Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, Elvis, And Romeo and Juliet,
- 25:55Speaker 2: the Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, Claire Danes.
- 26:03Speaker 3: 90s classic Romeo and Juliet. Great soundtrack.
- 26:07Speaker 2: John Ritter would have been 78, but he had a
- 26:11Speaker 2: aortic heart attack situation that killed him dead in 2003
- 26:17Speaker 2: at just the age of 54. So keep that in mind.
- 26:20Speaker 2: We're all right there at the age of John Ritter died.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Get your tickers checked, boys. Speaking of which, I'm about
- 26:29Speaker 2: to say one of the oldest man things I've ever said.
- 26:33Speaker 2: The last time I went to the doctor, they told
- 26:35Speaker 2: me about a blood test that we can now do
- 26:37Speaker 2: that gives you sort of a genetic probability for heart attack.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Wait.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Was it genetic or just based on lipid something?
- 26:51Speaker 3: Whatever the test was.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Went to the doctor and she told me, yeah, the
- 26:56Speaker 2: odds of you having a heart attack are like minuscule.
- 27:00Speaker 2: It was like a point something percent.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, that's good to know.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Which she doesn't realize that's kind of like opening the
- 27:07Speaker 2: door for me because now I.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Feel like that means I can eat and drink whatever
- 27:10Speaker 3: I want.
- 27:12Speaker 2: But yeah, it was some test she did. I don't
- 27:13Speaker 2: know if it was a lipid thing. It was in
- 27:15Speaker 2: the blood work. Yeah, we can do this test now
- 27:17Speaker 2: and see. like the likelihood of you having a major
- 27:21Speaker 2: heart attack. I was like, that's kind of cool technology.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Thank you for that. So if you boys being in
- 27:27Speaker 2: the similar age group that I'm in, next time you
- 27:29Speaker 2: get your stuff done, just ask about that.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Roddy McDowell is another deceased birthday. He would have been
- 27:37Speaker 2: 98 today from Planet of the Apes. And a little
- 27:43Speaker 2: 80s movie that I recall fondly, Fright Night. He played
- 27:47Speaker 2: a TV version of Van Helsing in a movie called
- 27:51Speaker 2: Fright Night. The guy that played Dracula was Chris Sarandon,
- 27:56Speaker 2: who was from Princess Bride. To this day, it's one
- 28:00Speaker 2: of the scariest vampire mouths. So like in all the
- 28:03Speaker 2: vampire movies, they have like different sort of teeth versions.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Fright Night had one of the scariest from what I
- 28:12Speaker 2: remember as a kid. So do you guys remember this
- 28:15Speaker 2: movie at all?
- 28:16Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Trey, no. Good movie, right, Jerry?
- 28:19Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 28:20Speaker 2: So you got a teenage boy, neighbor moves in, the
- 28:25Speaker 2: neighbor's Dracula, okay? And the neighbor's girlfriend's very cute, and
- 28:31Speaker 2: Dracula has his eyes on her, and then he realizes, oh,
- 28:33Speaker 2: my God, my neighbor's Dracula, and he's trying to protect
- 28:36Speaker 2: his girlfriend, and so he tracks down TV's Van Helsing.
- 28:42Speaker 3: And it's Roddy McDowell. And he's telling him, he's like,
- 28:44Speaker 3: I'm not a real Van Helsing.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I'm just an actor. And so they basically just do
- 28:49Speaker 2: that whole thing. And it's a fun movie, man. It
- 28:51Speaker 2: was creepy as hell in the 80s. I still remember,
- 28:55Speaker 2: and Jerry, since you've seen it, I want to know
- 28:57Speaker 2: if this sticks in your memory banks as hard as
- 29:01Speaker 2: it does in mine. The guy's best friend gets bitten
- 29:06Speaker 2: by Dracula and turned, right? He's kind of a scrawny
- 29:10Speaker 2: dude with a high-pitched... quirky voice. And there was like a,
- 29:17Speaker 2: in one scene, it's completely black and red eyes pop
- 29:21Speaker 2: up and he starts laughing with this weird voice that
- 29:24Speaker 2: his best friend had, but he's a vampire.
- 29:26Speaker 3: It's creepy as hell.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Fright night.
- 29:27Speaker 3: It's a fun movie.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Absolutely. Absolutely. And you're right. That vampire mouth was good grief.
- 29:38Speaker 4: It was gnarly to, to, take away the nice, clean,
- 29:42Speaker 4: you know, symmetrical.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Now this, this was not the sexy interview with
- 29:48Speaker 3: the vampire vampire fangs. No, this was like, Oh shit.
- 29:52Speaker 1: This was like meth vampire.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Okay. Yes.
- 29:56Speaker 2: If, if Dracula moved to Florida, which I now feel
- 30:02Speaker 2: like that needs to be on the sci-fi network, uh, uh.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Meth pyre.
- 30:08Speaker 4: They, uh, did a remake of that movie in 2011.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Any good?
- 30:12Speaker 4: Uh, I've only seen bits and pieces of it. It's got,
- 30:16Speaker 4: it stars Colin Farrell and the guy that plays the, uh,
- 30:21Speaker 4: Ben Helsing character is, um, uh, What's his name? A tenant. Um,
- 30:32Speaker 4: got to play Dr. Who.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Ah, crap. I can't remember that guy's tenant.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Uh, something tenant.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 4: David. Anyway.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yes.
- 30:40Speaker 4: David.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Yep. All right.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Other birthdays today. Patrick Mahomes is 31 living a pretty
- 30:46Speaker 2: good life. NBA Zen coach, Phil Jackson, 81.
- 30:51Speaker 3: God, haven't seen him in a long time. Yeah, it's
- 30:57Speaker 3: been a while.
- 30:58Speaker 2: It's weird to think that he's already 81, but it
- 31:00Speaker 2: makes sense. And I think this is probably the best
- 31:04Speaker 2: birthday of today.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Doug E. Fresh is 60.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Doug E. Fresh.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Doug E.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Fresh is 60. Hip-hop pioneer known as a human beatbox.
- 31:15Speaker 2: And if I remember correctly, one of the stars.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Of Cool Runnings.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I believe he was the one in Cool Runnings where
- 31:27Speaker 2: he's telling John Candy as he's in the bobsled, I
- 31:30Speaker 2: can't get my helmet on, Coach. John Candy comes over,
- 31:32Speaker 2: smashes the top of the helmet onto his head, and
- 31:35Speaker 2: he's like, thanks, Coach.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I know I remember Cool Runnings as a funny movie,
- 31:45Speaker 1: but I don't really remember any bits and pieces of it.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I mean, the part, thanks, Coach, where he
- 31:53Speaker 3: smashes the helmet onto his head.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Starring John Candy and Leon, who was also the star
- 32:00Speaker 2: of the Living on a Prayer video by Madonna. He
- 32:03Speaker 2: was like the head Jamaican bobsledder. And then I think
- 32:06Speaker 2: it was Doug E. Fresh that played the one with
- 32:08Speaker 2: the short dreads.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Living on a Prayer was Bon Jovi. Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Sorry, not Living on a Prayer. Like a Prayer.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Like a Prayer.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Oh, I got it wrong. Mackie got me. He's like, no, Dan,
- 32:22Speaker 3: that's Doug E. Doug.
- 32:25Speaker 2: See, this is why you have to have different, like,
- 32:27Speaker 2: differing names. Man, I think I just really insulted Doug E.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Fresh.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I thought Doug E. Fresh and Doug E. Doug were
- 32:33Speaker 3: the same guy. I need to brush up on my hip-hop.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. Either one of them would be
- 32:40Speaker 1: happy with that.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Probably not. My apologies to the Doug E's from the
- 32:48Speaker 3: bottom of my heart.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I was just saying it as a birthday because it's
- 32:54Speaker 2: an excuse.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Where I get to bring up Cool Runnings and what
- 32:57Speaker 3: a great movie it is.
- 32:58Speaker 4: What is it, Jerry? I said, I know this is
- 33:00Speaker 4: not a today thing, but there's another notable birthday happening
- 33:05Speaker 4: this weekend.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Oh, what's that?
- 33:08Speaker 4: You don't know? Hang on.
- 33:11Speaker 3: I'm looking at the date.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Let's see. We're recording this on September 16th. The episode
- 33:16Speaker 2: drops on September 17th.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Okay. Raj's birthday was October. Is it yours? Yes. Is
- 33:32Speaker 3: it your birthday this weekend, Jerry?
- 33:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I mean, surprise. 51 to 52.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:42Speaker 1: That's a real barn burner of a birthday. Hmm.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I blew it out on the 50th.
- 33:55Speaker 2: We are 0 for 3 here inside the treehouse with
- 33:58Speaker 2: wishing you a happy birthday, Jerry. Number one, I didn't
- 34:01Speaker 2: even know it was your birthday. Number two, Trey didn't
- 34:04Speaker 2: know how old you were. And in the chat, Linda
- 34:07Speaker 2: just said, happy birthday, jerk.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I was off by a year. That's a compliment to Jerry.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I thought he was younger. Happy birthday, jerk.
- 34:23Speaker 4: I mean, that is one of the nicest things I've
- 34:26Speaker 4: been called, actually.
- 34:29Speaker 3: It's better to have a T on the end than
- 34:30Speaker 3: a K.
- 34:31Speaker 4: That's right.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Jerry. Happy birthday, man.
- 34:37Speaker 2: In my defense, I'm terrible with birthdays because I'm not
- 34:40Speaker 2: big on my birthday, so it has to be drilled
- 34:43Speaker 2: into my head anybody else's.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Your birthday is your own personal holiday. Even if you
- 34:48Speaker 4: don't subscribe to a government-mandated holiday or religious holiday, there
- 34:54Speaker 4: is one day out of the year that is for you,
- 34:56Speaker 4: and that's your birthday.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It is an arbitrary marker of time. What day is
- 35:06Speaker 1: your birthday, Jerry?
- 35:07Speaker 4: September 20th, the day after International Talk Like a Pirate Day,
- 35:11Speaker 4: and the day before the first day of autumn.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Man, they sandwiched you in between those perfectly. All right,
- 35:22Speaker 3: September 20th. Tara, can you make a note of that, please?
- 35:28Speaker 4: September 20th, Jerry's... Yeah, Jerry's birthday.
- 35:32Speaker 3: September 20th. Yeah, I know I should know it, but I...
- 35:37Speaker 3: Tara has reprimanded me. I'm sorry, Jerry. September 20th, Jert's birthday.
- 35:47Speaker 3: That's how I'm actually going to put it in there now,
- 35:48Speaker 3: I think. Happy birthday, Jerry. The big five, too. Anything
- 35:53Speaker 3: special planned? Perfect. That sounds exactly correct and proper for
- 36:01Speaker 3: a 52nd birthday.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Yeah. I think I'm going to go eat Tex-Mex with
- 36:05Speaker 4: the fam. But other than that, we'll party.
- 36:11Speaker 1: There's not a lot to celebrate.
- 36:13Speaker 3: No.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I used to do the big birthday parties on like
- 36:17Speaker 4: the tens, you know, like the 30th or the 40th.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Then get to 50 and it's like, maybe we should
- 36:24Speaker 4: do the big parties every five just to make sure.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Makes sense. Get them all in.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Look, there are different landmark birthdays in our lives, right?
- 36:34Speaker 2: I mean, 16, you get your license. 18, you can
- 36:38Speaker 2: vote or join the military.
- 36:39Speaker 3: 21, you can drink. 25, you can rent a car. Uh, yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 3: And the insurance comes down a little bit.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Um, then there's, then there's the mile marker birthdays, like
- 36:53Speaker 2: 30 and.
- 36:56Speaker 4: 40, 50.
- 36:59Speaker 2: But after you turn 50, there are not a whole
- 37:01Speaker 2: lot of, you know, celebratory birthdays or noteworthy birthdays. There's,
- 37:07Speaker 2: 55 used to be one because that's when people could retire,
- 37:12Speaker 2: but that's not happening for our generation or any that
- 37:14Speaker 2: we're going to see. Um, so what are, so then, yeah,
- 37:18Speaker 2: you're right. Then you're just kind of noting the major birthdays.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Like after you turned 50, it's like, Hey, what's the
- 37:23Speaker 2: next big one? I made it to 55.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Cool.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Uh, then I make it to 60. After 60, it's like,
- 37:30Speaker 4: you're just happy that you made it to another one. Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Are there any like noteworthy birthdays after you turned 50 that,
- 37:38Speaker 2: I'm forgetting.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Social Security birthday?
- 37:42Speaker 1: 65. I mean... 72 now?
- 37:48Speaker 3: 64.
- 37:48Speaker 4: That was in the Beatles song. Everybody gets to sing
- 37:50Speaker 4: that Beatles song to you. Will you still need me?
- 37:54Speaker 4: Will you still feed me when I'm 64?
- 37:57Speaker 2: See, even they thought 64 was old back then. Do
- 38:00Speaker 2: you think they sing that song now and they think.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Oh, mate, we're really old now.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Yeah, because.
- 38:08Speaker 2: After you hit whatever age you're going to pull social security,
- 38:11Speaker 2: there's no noteworthy birthdays, right?
- 38:13Speaker 3: You're still alive. Every day is the birthday.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's why Jerry's right. It's like high school reunions.
- 38:26Speaker 1: You do it every 10 years, and then after 30,
- 38:30Speaker 1: you do it every five years, because then it's like, well,
- 38:31Speaker 1: who's alive and who's dead?
- 38:33Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 38:34Speaker 4: And we've already lost a lot of people in my
- 38:38Speaker 4: graduating class. Really?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 4: We lost, we lost a lot during COVID and just
- 38:43Speaker 4: for other reasons, it's been, it's been rough on the
- 38:47Speaker 4: 93 skaters.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Uh, 98 Vikings, uh, got an early start. I think
- 38:54Speaker 2: there was a girl that died like a couple of
- 38:57Speaker 2: months after graduation. And then within a year, within a
- 39:02Speaker 2: year of graduating, we had a guy, uh, wakeboarding in
- 39:05Speaker 2: Lake Arlington drowned. So 98 Vikings started early. I don't
- 39:09Speaker 2: know where everyone else has ended up since, but.
- 39:11Speaker 3: We were overachievers. There's no doubt about that.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I married four people out of my senior year, senior
- 39:18Speaker 1: year to freshman year in college.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Four?
- 39:25Speaker 3: Were they on the same boat or something, or is
- 39:27Speaker 3: it all different stuff.
- 39:29Speaker 1: All different three car wrecks one a freak accident one
- 39:36Speaker 1: a suicide actually there was.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Five Jesus that reminds me you need to watch the
- 39:44Speaker 3: final destination movie holy shit i'm sorry i did not
- 40:02Speaker 3: expect that to hit that hard.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I say that because i was thinking about it in
- 40:11Speaker 2: the terms of like when you're when you're graduating high
- 40:14Speaker 2: school and the valedictorian is doing the speech and everything
- 40:17Speaker 2: They get up there and they talk about hope and
- 40:19Speaker 2: the future.
- 40:20Speaker 3: They never get up there and say, some of us
- 40:22Speaker 3: are going to be dead soon.
- 40:30Speaker 1: If I'd seen the movie, it would probably hit a
- 40:34Speaker 1: lot harder.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Oh, it will.
- 40:37Speaker 2: You'll be one of the weirdos watching Final Destination laughing
- 40:40Speaker 2: your ass off. As opposed to being absolutely mortified. Okay,
- 40:46Speaker 2: last little bit here inside the treehouse for today. We
- 40:50Speaker 2: promised that we would teach you some important life lessons.
- 40:54Speaker 2: One of those is here. Don't jack and drive. A
- 41:00Speaker 2: pantsless driver in Detroit died in a car wreck.
- 41:03Speaker 3: While watching porn. Speaking of Final Destination. This dude... Let's
- 41:11Speaker 3: be honest.
- 41:11Speaker 2: This dude went out on top. What I mean by
- 41:14Speaker 2: that is He leveled up in death. This is a
- 41:19Speaker 2: new level of distracted driving. A 58-year-old man who could
- 41:23Speaker 2: clearly still get it up was preoccupied by porn on
- 41:29Speaker 2: his phone when he crashed his car, rolled his vehicle,
- 41:34Speaker 2: all while.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Not wearing pants. And he died.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Wasn't he ejected?
- 41:56Speaker 3: You remember earlier when i said share this show with
- 41:58Speaker 3: a friend if you loved what you heard here today
- 42:12Speaker 3: share it with a friend.
- 42:13Speaker 2: And together we can grow really big and strong the
- 42:18Speaker 2: treehouse show.
- 42:20Speaker 3: And possibly avoid.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Any premature ejections. We'll see you next time right here
- 42:27Speaker 2: inside the treehouse.
- 42:29Speaker 1: And he really was.
