Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Anny and Samantha, and welcome to stuff
- 0:08Speaker 1: I've ever told your prediction if I heard you.
- 0:18Speaker 2: And welcome to another edition of Happy Hour. If you
- 0:22Speaker 2: are partaking of anything happy hour ish, do so responsibly.
- 0:27Speaker 2: This one we are kind of sponsored because we're going
- 0:30Speaker 2: to talk a little bit about our upcoming voyage. But
- 0:33Speaker 2: before we do that, Annie, are you sipping on eating
- 0:37Speaker 2: delicious for a happy Hour?
- 0:39Speaker 3: I got my light beer exposed me for I did.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure people already know I said it a
- 0:46Speaker 2: few times. I've exposed to you a few times. Apparently
- 0:48Speaker 2: I've exposed to you quite a bit on a few things,
- 0:51Speaker 2: to the point my partner's like, you need to stop talking.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Let me live my private life as a public podcaster.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Correct and all those things, and if you would like
- 1:05Speaker 2: to y'all, we are going on a voyage, like we said,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and it is happening October second through the seventh.
- 1:11Speaker 3: We are going with Virgin Voyages.
- 1:12Speaker 2: On their stuff at c where we Ay and I
- 1:17Speaker 2: and our amazing produced Arima BB does as well as
- 1:20Speaker 2: stuff they don't want you to know and stuff you
- 1:23Speaker 2: should know. We are going to be on the voyage
- 1:26Speaker 2: being able to share what it's like doing a podcast.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We're actually going to record a podcast live with whomever
- 1:31Speaker 2: wants to come and show up. So if you're interested
- 1:34Speaker 2: in doing this, we are going from New York to
- 1:37Speaker 2: the bermudas you can check out www. Dot virgin Voyages
- 1:41Speaker 2: dot com slash stuff to get more information.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You still have time come hang with us.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And speaking of coming hang with us and speaking of
- 1:50Speaker 2: us doing this podcast live, y'all know we are over
- 1:56Speaker 2: preparers when it comes to this, and we also love
- 1:59Speaker 2: a good suggestion and oftentimes are asking you, our listener,
- 2:05Speaker 2: what should we do. We have a few topic ideas
- 2:08Speaker 2: and now I will throw out some topic ideas about
- 2:11Speaker 2: what we want to cover live. But it's different beast
- 2:14Speaker 2: doing it live versus us doing a recording. Because if
- 2:19Speaker 2: you've ever somehow guested with us, because we've had a
- 2:23Speaker 2: few listeners come on to do some episodes with us,
- 2:25Speaker 2: whether we did it for Sex and the City and
- 2:27Speaker 2: that is coming back soon, don't you worry, or whether
- 2:30Speaker 2: we feel like you have so much knowledge in a
- 2:32Speaker 2: certain subject that you are a pro at doest and
- 2:35Speaker 2: should come talk about it.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Stuff like that.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You have seen us where we say, yes, we are recording,
- 2:42Speaker 2: but it is not live. So if you want to
- 2:43Speaker 2: take something back, all those things and it's not so
- 2:46Speaker 2: much of a performance as we are doing kind of
- 2:48Speaker 2: a script write Annie.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Generally these happy pars not so much, but yes.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yes, And even with these happy hours though, if we
- 2:55Speaker 2: want to take something back or edit something, or I
- 2:57Speaker 2: stumbled through something, which I do often, we can have
- 3:02Speaker 2: it edited. That's one of the best things about podcasting
- 3:07Speaker 2: is that we're not on radio, contrary to a lot
- 3:10Speaker 2: of like movies, how to think that that's how we
- 3:15Speaker 2: do it. But with that, we also want to do
- 3:18Speaker 2: a topic that is lively interactive and not necessarily traumatic.
- 3:25Speaker 3: This is where we were like, oh, yeah, how do
- 3:28Speaker 3: we do this? How do we do this invitingly?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Because it's a it's a vacation.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It is I.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Want to be on a voyage together where we are
- 3:38Speaker 2: enjoying and having our adults only time because it is
- 3:41Speaker 2: twenty one and over hangouts where we taste amazing food, which,
- 3:45Speaker 2: by the way, I'm very excited about all these restaurants.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I've been looking through all the different ones.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I'm like, I gotta do this one, and we'n to
- 3:51Speaker 2: do all of them, any all of them and then
- 3:55Speaker 2: there's like little things that you can do that people
- 3:57Speaker 2: don't know about if you know, you know, type of
- 3:59Speaker 2: things like getting bracelets, maybe little shot classes. So I saw,
- 4:04Speaker 2: so you know, we're going to do some adventuring. But
- 4:06Speaker 2: with that again, like this is a fun time. I mean,
- 4:09Speaker 2: we want to make sure that we are conveying that
- 4:11Speaker 2: we are fun people, not just tragically crying girls oliver
- 4:16Speaker 2: in the side of the corner, which is not a
- 4:17Speaker 2: bad thing, just not the most appropriate time. It's all
- 4:20Speaker 2: about the timing right, And again, we do have a
- 4:24Speaker 2: few ideas, so let me throw some ideas for y' all,
- 4:27Speaker 2: because we also will probably be talking to a lot
- 4:29Speaker 2: of people who don't know about our show, so not
- 4:32Speaker 2: you faithful listeners, but we would love for you to come.
- 4:34Speaker 3: So because we love good you know, people who know us.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel nice because like they know stuff
- 4:41Speaker 2: you should know pretty well. They've been around, they've been
- 4:43Speaker 2: the flagship, they've been the standard, and they're amazing dudes.
- 4:47Speaker 2: We love them very much. Excited to hang with them
- 4:50Speaker 2: on this voyage. But like they have a pretty broad
- 4:53Speaker 2: aspect of topics that they can do, and they always
- 4:56Speaker 2: draw in a good crowd and then you know stuff
- 4:58Speaker 2: they don't want you to know. Ben. If you know Ben, Bolin,
- 5:01Speaker 2: Nol and Matt who are part of this show, they
- 5:04Speaker 2: are the kings of entertainment when it comes to being
- 5:07Speaker 2: on stage. I really feel like Ben was is an
- 5:10Speaker 2: actor slash have been an old school actor who could
- 5:13Speaker 2: perform at a Broadway even he could do a soliloquoy. Soliloquy,
- 5:19Speaker 2: I can't say they have the word. I can't even
- 5:20Speaker 2: say the word liloquoy in a way that is so amazing.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So like he brings in a crowd in itself us
- 5:26Speaker 2: we are good, we're interactive, but it's not something that
- 5:31Speaker 2: we do on a consistent basis. So we're trying to
- 5:34Speaker 2: like we're going to stick with our intersectional feminism because
- 5:37Speaker 2: that's who we are. We will never diver from that.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But that could mean a host of things. So one
- 5:43Speaker 2: of the things that we thought about, because it is
- 5:45Speaker 2: going to be in October again, October second of the seventh,
- 5:49Speaker 2: Halloween we should do because you know, we love good Halloween,
- 5:53Speaker 2: but also sometimes we turn dark in our Halloween topics. Sure, yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you know, you know, like we'll talk about like how
- 6:02Speaker 2: periods are a horror like storyline that they don't want
- 6:05Speaker 2: to admit not always the greatest subject.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I think it's truthful. It was a great episode. It
- 6:12Speaker 3: was a great episode.
- 6:13Speaker 2: However, how does that translate doing a live participation type
- 6:17Speaker 2: of event. So we've talked about doing hollow and related
- 6:20Speaker 2: topics with that, maybe like you know, true crime level,
- 6:25Speaker 2: Like we don't do too much of true crime because
- 6:27Speaker 2: we don't think it's necessarily a brand that's about us.
- 6:31Speaker 2: But we have talked about things like women who fall
- 6:34Speaker 2: in love with serial killers? Why does this happen? We
- 6:37Speaker 2: all obviously do like a deep dive. We talked to
- 6:39Speaker 2: the psychological level of why this happens? And I think
- 6:43Speaker 2: that's still important. I think that's important and we would
- 6:46Speaker 2: dove into that. But what if we did that as
- 6:48Speaker 2: like a part two in which we talk about men
- 6:51Speaker 2: who have fallen in love with women serial killers, which
- 6:55Speaker 2: has happened, not as many that we know of that
- 7:00Speaker 2: we know of, but we can dig like dig into
- 7:02Speaker 2: that in a little bit conversation of that and also
- 7:04Speaker 2: like dive into maybe why women kill.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I think we've talked about.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That before, but like a little bit deeper, especially today
- 7:13Speaker 2: when we talk about some things we talked about women
- 7:16Speaker 2: who have faked their deaths. I think that would be
- 7:19Speaker 2: an interesting conversation and also digging up old cases about
- 7:22Speaker 2: that that that might be a good topic and it
- 7:25Speaker 2: could be interactive, a little bit of like why would
- 7:28Speaker 2: they do it? Well, what are the reasons? And I
- 7:30Speaker 2: feel like, again that could turn dark, yes, real quick,
- 7:35Speaker 2: because I did did bring in the example of sleeping
- 7:37Speaker 2: with the enemy and why she did and he was
- 7:39Speaker 2: a horrible abusive and he tried to kill her. Yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 2: so it's like, again, this is I have a problem
- 7:46Speaker 2: Annie and not not.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Taking it dark. So we're going that way.
- 7:51Speaker 2: We also talked about like, you know, why women are
- 7:54Speaker 2: willing to go with hainous crimes kind of like that
- 7:56Speaker 2: kind like Bonnie and Clyde, but not so much as
- 8:00Speaker 2: a much participant, but oftentimes like that just like, oh
- 8:04Speaker 2: well it happened in turn way, Like I've seen definitely
- 8:07Speaker 2: stories of like women of men who they are married
- 8:10Speaker 2: to who have like kidnapped people and kept them. But
- 8:13Speaker 2: then like the women really did start turning, like feeling
- 8:15Speaker 2: bad and trying to figure out how to do it,
- 8:16Speaker 2: but also kind of that level of like being traumatized themselves.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I feel like I'm explaining it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Right now, but like you know, talking a deep dive
- 8:24Speaker 2: on that as well as looking at some of the
- 8:26Speaker 2: specific cases and like maybe some of the heroines. We
- 8:29Speaker 2: talked about that as well. I also thought about a
- 8:32Speaker 2: really fun like throwback into why don't we Believe Her?
- 8:37Speaker 2: But in talking about women's celebrities who may have gone
- 8:41Speaker 2: through things and we've just or we owe them an
- 8:43Speaker 2: apology like that turn we owe them an apology and
- 8:46Speaker 2: talk about like the nineties like misunderstood actresses that we
- 8:50Speaker 2: really were like, oh damn, they.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Were victims here.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And I think about that with Monica Lewinsky too, and
- 8:56Speaker 2: I know we've talked about that as well, like she
- 8:58Speaker 2: we owe her an apology, And I thought we could
- 9:00Speaker 2: do a deep dive on stuff like that.
- 9:01Speaker 3: As an episode. Any what do you think?
- 9:05Speaker 2: So there's a few that we have in there, so,
- 9:07Speaker 2: but what are some things that you think would be
- 9:10Speaker 2: a little more of a fun take on a subject?
- 9:13Speaker 2: Not necessarily these subjects that you're like, you should do
- 9:15Speaker 2: this as a live show, you think would be a
- 9:18Speaker 2: more interesting live show as opposed to us just doing research.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Yes, and.
- 9:25Speaker 1: We're still hammering out the details obviously, but we are
- 9:28Speaker 1: talking about introducing interactions with the audience and things like that.
- 9:36Speaker 3: So we would love to hear from you. What would
- 9:40Speaker 3: you want to hear? What do you think would be good?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Oh and if you do join us, which I really
- 9:46Speaker 2: hope you can, because it would be a delight to
- 9:48Speaker 2: hang with you because we would be hanging with you.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Y'all.
- 9:50Speaker 2: We have nothing but this one panel planned and I
- 9:54Speaker 2: think it may be another couple of events that you
- 9:56Speaker 2: are able to participate in, but outside of that, we're
- 10:00Speaker 2: just going to be chillen. Yeah, So we would love
- 10:02Speaker 2: to hang with you. So if that's something that you
- 10:04Speaker 2: were like worried about everythinking like maybe, but come and
- 10:07Speaker 2: hang like that is going to be us there to
- 10:10Speaker 2: hang with whoever is on the ship, making new friends,
- 10:12Speaker 2: making friends in general because we love that and meeting
- 10:15Speaker 2: all the peoples. So we would love for you to come.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And if you have ideas of like, hey, you should
- 10:20Speaker 2: do these types of events, because we've been talking about
- 10:22Speaker 2: maybe we're going to show up at some of the
- 10:24Speaker 2: bingos that they do. Maybe we're going to show up
- 10:26Speaker 2: at their trivia stuff because you know, we love good
- 10:28Speaker 2: trivia too. Maybe we're going to create our own little
- 10:31Speaker 2: bar crawl.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Who knows.
- 10:34Speaker 1: It's a lot of options, you have ideas.
- 10:36Speaker 3: If you have ideas, give it to us.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yes, we want to make this really fun for everybody,
- 10:43Speaker 1: so we would love to hear from you and definitely
- 10:47Speaker 1: let us know if you're coming so we can meet up.
