- 0:01Speaker 1: Micah Miller was thirty years old when she died on
- 0:04Speaker 1: the twenty seventh of April twenty twenty four. She had
- 0:07Speaker 1: been married to John Paul Miller, a pastor at Solid
- 0:11Speaker 1: Rock Church in South Carolina, for seven years. When the
- 0:15Speaker 1: pastor's wife was found dead from a single gunshot to
- 0:18Speaker 1: the head. All signs pointed towards a conclusion that no
- 0:21Speaker 1: one wanted to accept. As the secrets of her past
- 0:25Speaker 1: and marriage came to light, a growing chorus of family members, friends, neighbors,
- 0:31Speaker 1: online commentators, and the broader media joined the speculation. They
- 0:37Speaker 1: believed only one explanation made sense that Micah Miller had
- 0:41Speaker 1: not chosen her own fate. She had been murdered.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Hi.
- 0:49Speaker 1: There, I'm Kevin, and welcome to Just Thought Lounge. Today's
- 0:53Speaker 1: case has us unraveling in intricate web of allegations including emotional,
- 0:58Speaker 1: mental and spiritual abuse, US murder affairs, corruption in the church,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and failures of law enforcement. It is a heartbreaking case
- 1:07Speaker 1: that has captured the attention of many. The investigation is
- 1:11Speaker 1: now officially closed, a conclusion has been reached and the
- 1:15Speaker 1: evidence released to the public. However, speculation continues. Let's take
- 1:21Speaker 1: a look. John Paul or j. P. Miller and his
- 1:38Speaker 1: future wife, Micah met when she was fourteen years old.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Her family had just started attending worship services at Solid
- 1:45Speaker 1: Rock Church in Myrtle Beach. JP was a youth pastor
- 1:49Speaker 1: at the time, growing into a more significant role at
- 1:52Speaker 1: Solid Rock over the following years. When Micah was eighteen
- 1:56Speaker 1: years old, John Paul officiated her wedding to his good friend,
- 2:00Speaker 1: a man named Jeremy Days both Micah and Jeremy were
- 2:04Speaker 1: involved in the church. He ran the sports ministry and
- 2:07Speaker 1: she worked on the media team in addition to other responsibilities. Eventually,
- 2:12Speaker 1: Micah took on the role as John Paul's secretary and
- 2:16Speaker 1: babysitter for his growing family. In twenty fifteen, JP's wife,
- 2:21Speaker 1: Allison discovered her husband and their babysitter in a compromising position.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Shortly after JP and Micah's affair became public knowledge. In
- 2:33Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, both marriages ended in divorce. Jeremy and Allison
- 2:38Speaker 1: each eventually left the Solid Rock Church, where only one
- 2:41Speaker 1: year later, JP and Micah were married. At the age
- 2:45Speaker 1: of twenty three, Micah became the stepmother to forty four
- 2:49Speaker 1: year old John Paul's five children, four from his first
- 2:52Speaker 1: marriage with Alison and the eldest from a previous relationship.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Micah also took on a greater role within the church
- 2:59Speaker 1: as the pastor's wife. She was a worship leader, did
- 3:03Speaker 1: graphic design, and oversaw the women's and youth ministries. Micah
- 3:08Speaker 1: was also passionate about overseas missions, including her trips to Kenya,
- 3:12Speaker 1: where the church was funding religious and educational initiatives. Micah
- 3:17Speaker 1: loved to sing. She often led the congregation in song.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Give me, take me forward, all that huge change, all
- 3:38Speaker 3: my colorss for you.
- 3:44Speaker 1: On the twenty seventh of April twenty twenty four, fifty
- 3:48Speaker 1: five year old Johnny Jacobs went fishing in the Lumber
- 3:51Speaker 1: River in North Carolina. He had been in the state
- 3:54Speaker 1: park for several hours when he heard a woman's cries
- 3:57Speaker 1: from down the river. From his position the tall, dense
- 4:01Speaker 1: tree line, he could not see the woman who was crying.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Port in there with my little boat, and maybe five
- 4:08Speaker 4: minutes after get into the slave I heard a cry,
- 4:11Speaker 4: a faint cry, heard it for maybe two or three minutes,
- 4:15Speaker 4: and the crime stopped.
- 4:17Speaker 1: A few minutes passed with only the sound of the river,
- 4:20Speaker 1: the birds, and the lake breeze before the distinct and
- 4:24Speaker 1: unmistakable bang of a gunshot rang out.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I said, oh my god, don't tell me. Don't tell me,
- 4:33Speaker 4: because the crime had stopped. I said, don't tell me.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Something's happened. Don't tell me something. I was getting ready
- 4:39Speaker 4: to get out of there. Another three people came into
- 4:43Speaker 4: the lake on a boat, and I plainly asked them.
- 4:46Speaker 4: I said, did Joe hear that gun shot? They said yes.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Johnny made his way towards the direction that he had
- 4:53Speaker 1: heard the gunfire. On the bank of the river, he
- 4:56Speaker 1: discovered a backpack. With the bag was a pair of
- 4:59Speaker 1: glass and a cell phone and.
- 5:02Speaker 4: A license, her bank card. She had her keys in
- 5:06Speaker 4: the bag. She had a little small bible, oumo credit cards,
- 5:11Speaker 4: a bank cards, and a few receipts of some fans.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Within minutes, emergency responders arrived at the Lumber River State Park.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Called out by a nine to one one call, They
- 5:22Speaker 1: immediately began a search on foot and in the air.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Just before four thirty pm, roughly an hour and a
- 5:30Speaker 1: half after Johnny had heard the shot, a kayaker reported
- 5:34Speaker 1: a woman's body in the water. It was thirty year
- 5:38Speaker 1: old Micah Miller. She had died of a single gunshot
- 5:42Speaker 1: wound to the head. The black Honda Accord that Micah
- 5:51Speaker 1: had driven to North Carolina from her home in Myrtle
- 5:54Speaker 1: Beach was found in the parking lot. Robinson County detectives
- 5:58Speaker 1: looked inside the car and observed a black Sig Sour
- 6:01Speaker 1: gun case in the passenger seat and a box of
- 6:04Speaker 1: ammunition in the center console of the vehicle. Later that evening,
- 6:09Speaker 1: they recovered a Sig Sour nine millimeter firearm from the water.
- 6:14Speaker 1: The serial number matched the case. A receipt for the
- 6:17Speaker 1: purchase of the weapon was also in the vehicle. It
- 6:20Speaker 1: showed that the gun had been acquired only hours earlier
- 6:23Speaker 1: from Dick's Pawnshop in Myrtle Beach. Micah Miller was listed
- 6:28Speaker 1: as the buyer. The medical examiner was called out to
- 6:32Speaker 1: view the scene where the incident occurred, and CSI teams
- 6:35Speaker 1: worked the area gathering any potential evidence. When the coroner's
- 6:40Speaker 1: report was released, it concluded that Micah had died from
- 6:44Speaker 1: a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. It was
- 6:47Speaker 1: a conclusion that friends and family members could not accept.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It just didn't make sense to them.
- 6:55Speaker 5: A hair appointment this week, she plans to attend church
- 6:58Speaker 5: with them on Sunday News. When I heard it, it was
- 7:02Speaker 5: just I thought it was just some kind of terrible misunderstanding,
- 7:06Speaker 5: because she was headed in a positive direction, and she
- 7:09Speaker 5: was making plans and had a new purpose that she
- 7:11Speaker 5: was pursuing.
- 7:13Speaker 6: She was loving her job everything.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Additionally, those close to Micah believed that there were far
- 7:19Speaker 1: too many reasons to suspect foul play. Their prime suspect
- 7:24Speaker 1: Micah's husband, John Paul Miller, and assigned after David. Micah's
- 7:30Speaker 1: sister Sierra, quoted her sister only weeks before her death
- 7:33Speaker 1: as stating, if I end up with a bullet in
- 7:36Speaker 1: my head, it was not by me, it was Jp.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Their marriage had been tumultuous. Micah had to try to
- 7:44Speaker 1: leave him on multiple occasions, but had been somehow repeatedly
- 7:48Speaker 1: pulled back in. That is, until just days before she
- 7:52Speaker 1: was found in the river. She had grown resolute in
- 7:55Speaker 1: her decision to leave him.
- 7:57Speaker 7: I know she had been struggling.
- 8:00Speaker 8: She's gotten three different numbers.
- 8:02Speaker 5: She's had three different numbers in the last three months,
- 8:04Speaker 5: trying to make sure that he did not get her
- 8:08Speaker 5: phone number and could not get in contact with her.
- 8:11Speaker 5: She messaged me saying, you know, thank you for your
- 8:13Speaker 5: gentle warnings over the years about JP or my relationship
- 8:17Speaker 5: with JP. You know, I know that you knew I
- 8:20Speaker 5: wasn't ready to get out yet. I've replied our commos
- 8:24Speaker 5: over and over in our head throughout the years, and
- 8:28Speaker 5: wish there was a way I could get out, And
- 8:30Speaker 5: now I have with a big smile.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Only two days before Micah's death, JP had been served
- 8:35Speaker 1: with divorce papers. She had sought to leave JP the
- 8:39Speaker 1: year before, in January twenty twenty three, moving to Kansas
- 8:43Speaker 1: to be with family members there and to start a
- 8:45Speaker 1: new life. In Kansas, she joined a new church and
- 8:49Speaker 1: built new friendships, but after only a few months, Micah
- 8:53Speaker 1: abruptly left the state, leaving behind a brief and uncharacteristic
- 8:57Speaker 1: note stating that she was heading back to So Carolina
- 9:01Speaker 1: to be with her husband.
- 9:03Speaker 9: We got all text messages when she was leaving. That
- 9:06Speaker 9: didn't make any sense. When she was planning on staying
- 9:09Speaker 9: in Kansas and she was planning on thriving, she was
- 9:12Speaker 9: planning on making trips healing, and all of a sudden
- 9:15Speaker 9: we heard nothing. It was a hey, good news, I've
- 9:19Speaker 9: been reconciled my husband's allowing me to come back home
- 9:21Speaker 9: praise God back.
- 9:23Speaker 1: In Myrtle Beach. The marriage continued to deteriorate in a
- 9:28Speaker 1: pattern scene all too often, JP went back to the
- 9:31Speaker 1: same behaviors, and Micah found herself quickly back to where
- 9:34Speaker 1: she started looking for a way out. In cryptic social
- 9:39Speaker 1: media posts, Micah spoke out against domestic abuse of all
- 9:43Speaker 1: kinds and what has been interpreted as statements about her
- 9:47Speaker 1: own experience. The pastor's wife discussed reconciling religious beliefs with
- 9:52Speaker 1: a desire to leave an unhealthy marriage.
- 9:56Speaker 10: I just want to tell you what a lot of
- 9:58Speaker 10: people have told me lately and reminded me, because I
- 10:03Speaker 10: think I forgot I knew, but for I pushed it
- 10:06Speaker 10: in the back of my head just because of my situation.
- 10:12Speaker 10: But you are the bride of Christ before anybody else's bride.
- 10:18Speaker 11: God hates divorce.
- 10:20Speaker 10: But why According to everybody I've asked and the scriptures
- 10:24Speaker 10: that I've found, it's because it hurts people. But does
- 10:28Speaker 10: abuse hurt people? How do you think God feels about that?
- 10:34Speaker 10: That I'm God's pride first? And even an earthly spouse
- 10:40Speaker 10: who's a good spouse when they know that their bride
- 10:44Speaker 10: is being hurt.
- 10:47Speaker 11: Just imagine what an earthly spouse does.
- 10:50Speaker 10: What do you think your heavenly spouse does when you're
- 10:53Speaker 10: the bride of Christ and he sees his bride going
- 10:57Speaker 10: through abuse and hurt? What do you think he thinks
- 11:01Speaker 10: about that?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Micah filed for divorce later that year in October twenty
- 11:08Speaker 1: twenty three, but in February of the next year, she
- 11:11Speaker 1: withdrew the papers. That month, Micah was admitted to hospital
- 11:16Speaker 1: for mental health treatment against her will. She claimed that
- 11:20Speaker 1: her husband had committed her He had also taken her wallet,
- 11:23Speaker 1: her keys, and her car, so when she was released,
- 11:27Speaker 1: Micah reported her vehicle stolen to police. The report states
- 11:31Speaker 1: that John Paul told police that his wife had mental
- 11:34Speaker 1: health issues. He said that she had episodes annually around
- 11:38Speaker 1: the holidays, during which time she would recklessly spend large
- 11:42Speaker 1: sums of money. He justified taking her car by explaining
- 11:47Speaker 1: that he was preventing her from selling it, and he
- 11:49Speaker 1: refused to give it back for several weeks. There was
- 11:53Speaker 1: little that Myrtle Beach police could do with this information.
- 11:56Speaker 1: The couple were still married, which meant that MICA's vehicle
- 11:59Speaker 1: was marital property. Legally, her husband could not have stolen it.
- 12:05Speaker 12: Thank you for all your prayers and support. Know that
- 12:09Speaker 12: I have to keep my circle really, really small right now.
- 12:14Speaker 12: I'm used to having a really big circle.
- 12:16Speaker 10: So it's hard because I want to reach out to
- 12:19Speaker 10: everybody and tell you how much I love you and
- 12:21Speaker 10: I miss you. This is the best way that I
- 12:23Speaker 10: know how so I love you all.
- 12:25Speaker 11: I miss you.
- 12:27Speaker 1: After filing for divorce in the autumn, Micah grew concerned
- 12:31Speaker 1: that she was being stalked by her estranged husband. Twice,
- 12:35Speaker 1: she found that a sharp metal object had slashed the
- 12:38Speaker 1: tires to her vehicle. When this happened the first time,
- 12:41Speaker 1: a mechanic from the Haunted dealership fixing the vehicle found
- 12:45Speaker 1: a GPS tracking device attached to the car. As if
- 12:49Speaker 1: to confirm what Micah had already intuitively known that John
- 12:52Speaker 1: Paul was tracking her movements, he turned up at the
- 12:55Speaker 1: dealership to confront her.
- 12:58Speaker 7: Way the pictures. You want to go to jail, go
- 13:01Speaker 7: be on Facebook.
- 13:01Speaker 10: Who alrighty, You'll be in jail in a few hours.
- 13:05Speaker 11: Walk away.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Another complaint to police about the GPS tracker led to
- 13:10Speaker 1: the same result. JP made claims that his wife was
- 13:14Speaker 1: mentally unstable. He claimed that shortly after their wedding in
- 13:17Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, she was diagnosed by polar II, schizophrenic and
- 13:22Speaker 1: dependent personality disorder. He then claimed the GPS tracker was
- 13:26Speaker 1: on the car for her own safety as long as
- 13:29Speaker 1: she took her medication. The pastor said his wife would
- 13:32Speaker 1: be fine, but that Micah had a roller coaster relationship
- 13:37Speaker 1: with her meds. Earlier in the year, the wife of
- 13:40Speaker 1: a well meaning pastor friend offered to pray for her
- 13:43Speaker 1: and believed that her mental illness would go away. According
- 13:47Speaker 1: to JP, this led Micah to believe that she no
- 13:51Speaker 1: longer needed the medication. With the limited information available at
- 13:55Speaker 1: that time, the responding officer took no action. The vehicle
- 14:00Speaker 1: remained marital property. By extension, the GPS tracker on the car.
- 14:05Speaker 7: Was as well.
- 14:07Speaker 1: In an email sent to Micah, John Paul apologized to
- 14:10Speaker 1: her for the use of the trackers, but as Micah
- 14:13Speaker 1: moved forward with the divorce, the pastor continued to lash out.
- 14:18Speaker 1: On April eighth, Micah spoke to police yet again. This
- 14:22Speaker 1: time she told him that her husband had posted an
- 14:24Speaker 1: indecent photograph of her on Facebook. Micah told police she
- 14:29Speaker 1: had sent her husband the photograph about six months before.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Before being posted, Parts of the photo had been blurred,
- 14:36Speaker 1: so it did not meet South Carolina's Code of law
- 14:39Speaker 1: for nudity. Officers told Micah that as the photo had
- 14:43Speaker 1: been posted online anonymously, there was no way to prove
- 14:47Speaker 1: her husband was behind its publication, though once it had
- 14:51Speaker 1: been sent to him, it would have been legally his.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yet again, there were no actions taken against the pastor,
- 15:00Speaker 1: though Micah told police that she feared for her safety,
- 15:03Speaker 1: explaining that she had come to understand that her husband
- 15:06Speaker 1: had groomed her since twenty ten, when she first met
- 15:09Speaker 1: him as her youth pastor at the age of about fourteen.
- 15:13Speaker 1: John paulm was fourteen years older. At that time, he
- 15:16Speaker 1: was already married and the father of a few children.
- 15:19Speaker 1: JP adamantly denies this depiction of their relationship. Micah's last
- 15:25Speaker 1: Facebook post was from April ninth, when she wrote, when terrible, terrible,
- 15:30Speaker 1: terrible things happened to you, y'all know what I'm talking about.
- 15:34Speaker 1: RPF resting peace face.
- 15:38Speaker 13: You don't have to stay in an abusive relationship, whether
- 15:42Speaker 13: that's sexual, whether that's somebody forcing you to take illegal.
- 15:48Speaker 11: Drugs or alcohol abuse or physical abuse, psychological abuse, making
- 15:57Speaker 11: you think that this is all your fault or your
- 16:00Speaker 11: bad mom, or you're bad why, or your bad husband, or.
- 16:04Speaker 10: You're not giving it your all when you know you are.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Less than a week after the last police report, Micah
- 16:15Speaker 1: found a GPS tracker on her vehicle for a second time.
- 16:19Speaker 1: She filed for divorce the next day. It would take
- 16:22Speaker 1: about a week before those papers were served to JP,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but only two days after that Micah was dead.
- 16:30Speaker 14: JP personally called me and said, Hey, Michael bought a gun.
- 16:34Speaker 14: She's out in the backyard. Where you think she bought
- 16:36Speaker 14: it to shoot me? I don't know, JP, I don't
- 16:40Speaker 14: know what's going on in the house that that would
- 16:41Speaker 14: be a reason he was scared. I was wondering, do
- 16:45Speaker 14: you think she bought it to shoot me? Well, you know,
- 16:47Speaker 14: why would that be a question? And if you wouldn't
- 16:49Speaker 14: miss treating.
- 16:49Speaker 7: Her the greatest wife thing one could ask for. She
- 16:53Speaker 7: was cleverly a fertment. We spent every night together for
- 16:58Speaker 7: hours just talking.
- 16:59Speaker 1: To the only individual in Micah's life who appeared to
- 17:04Speaker 1: be unfazed by her tragic death was her own husband.
- 17:09Speaker 1: In the days after she was found, John Paul gave
- 17:12Speaker 1: no indications as to the turbulent nature of his marriage.
- 17:16Speaker 1: In her obituary, described by MICA's friends as a narcissist's ramblings,
- 17:21Speaker 1: he wrote of Micah, she and JP have been friends
- 17:25Speaker 1: since two thousand and nine, married in twenty seventeen, and
- 17:29Speaker 1: spent almost every single day and night together. Micah made
- 17:33Speaker 1: the greatest of efforts to always be the best wife
- 17:36Speaker 1: she could be. She would praise her husband after every
- 17:39Speaker 1: church service, telling him he was the best preacher in
- 17:42Speaker 1: the world, even if it wasn't true. She also told
- 17:46Speaker 1: him he was the funniest preacher in the world, even
- 17:49Speaker 1: though that wasn't true either. The day following her death,
- 17:54Speaker 1: the pastor decided to break the news to their church
- 17:56Speaker 1: congregation in a casual and unsettling announce that that followed
- 18:01Speaker 1: his servant, I'm going to alter.
- 18:02Speaker 7: Call today instead. Instead, I'm gonna have you stand up,
- 18:07Speaker 7: and I'm gonna make an announcement. And after the announcement,
- 18:10Speaker 7: I'm going to ask that you we leave church quietly
- 18:14Speaker 7: and don't talk about the announcement here in the building. Pleasy.
- 18:17Speaker 7: If you can't see, y'all can stand to your feet
- 18:22Speaker 7: before I make the announcement. I also want to say that
- 18:25Speaker 7: my request to you is that you will continue to
- 18:27Speaker 7: come to church and serve and give for the next
- 18:31Speaker 7: you know, little bit, because I don't want to have
- 18:32Speaker 7: I'm taking a little bit of a break and I
- 18:34Speaker 7: don't want to have to worry about the church my break.
- 18:36Speaker 7: Maybe a few days, a few weeks, I don't know.
- 18:38Speaker 7: I got a call late last night. My wife has
- 18:41Speaker 7: passed away. Yeah, and it was it was self induced,
- 18:45Speaker 7: and it was up in North Carolina. And we're gonna
- 18:48Speaker 7: have a funeral for her next Sunday here at three
- 18:50Speaker 7: p m. And so I'm it's all I can. Yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 7: I'm just kind of going on adrenaline right now. So
- 18:58Speaker 7: y'all pray for me and my kids and every and
- 19:01Speaker 7: she wasn't y'all knew that she wasn't well mentally and
- 19:04Speaker 7: then she needed a medicine that was hard to get
- 19:06Speaker 7: to her. And so I'm sure there'll be more details
- 19:09Speaker 7: to come, but just keep our family in your prayers.
- 19:12Speaker 7: And I'm going to let Pastor Randall Bishop he can pray.
- 19:15Speaker 7: I get a micro if I'll pray out and if
- 19:16Speaker 7: you have anything you want to share as well. I
- 19:19Speaker 7: appreciate it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Micah Miller had been found in the water less than
- 19:23Speaker 1: twenty four hours earlier. The coroner had not made a
- 19:27Speaker 1: determination as to the nature or cause of her death
- 19:30Speaker 1: when JP made this announcement, and the Robinson County Police
- 19:34Speaker 1: were still treating the incident as a suspicious death. Nonetheless,
- 19:38Speaker 1: the pastor pointed immediately to his wife's alleged mental state,
- 19:42Speaker 1: declaring that her death was it self induced. The pastor
- 19:47Speaker 1: appears to have been far more vocal regarding his wife's
- 19:50Speaker 1: alleged mental illness than his own. Indeed, many of the
- 19:55Speaker 1: details of John Paul's personal life before his marriage to
- 19:58Speaker 1: Micah stayed hidden for year. That changed when he came
- 20:02Speaker 1: under scrutiny in the wake of his wife's death. A
- 20:06Speaker 1: video posted on Facebook by one of JP's neighbors, dated
- 20:09Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, shows John Paul experiencing what some are
- 20:14Speaker 1: calling a drug induced psychosis. In the video, he explained
- 20:19Speaker 1: to an unidentified person that his medication had been changed
- 20:23Speaker 1: he felt ants crawling all over him, but in the
- 20:26Speaker 1: video there are no ants.
- 20:31Speaker 15: I think I think Marcus coming. I had had him,
- 20:35Speaker 15: trying to get tested with him again to make sure okay.
- 20:50Speaker 15: There's no ants on you though. It's just you know,
- 20:53Speaker 15: maybe if that's how you feel. But there's none on you,
- 20:56Speaker 15: there's none on the grass. What kind of medicine do
- 21:05Speaker 15: they have?
- 21:16Speaker 4: I can okay, I think he's.
- 21:18Speaker 11: I think he's.
- 21:19Speaker 16: Here's some water, jp some water. You won't up, you
- 21:35Speaker 16: won't trust it up, or you want to put it
- 21:37Speaker 16: to your house up. Okay.
- 21:42Speaker 1: The poster of the video, a man named Tye, wrote
- 21:46Speaker 1: alongside his post, I believe the saying goes getting a
- 21:50Speaker 1: taste of your own medicine. You have used and abused
- 21:54Speaker 1: for way too long, only to get up on that
- 21:56Speaker 1: pulpit and consistently discredit your victims by air out intentionally
- 22:01Speaker 1: degrading in appropriate personal information. Doing that allows you to
- 22:05Speaker 1: control the narrative. Now we have the death of your
- 22:08Speaker 1: wife that you claim only took her life because of
- 22:11Speaker 1: mental illness. The fact is nobody was ever mental until
- 22:16Speaker 1: they met you. In the lengthy post, Tie provides possible
- 22:23Speaker 1: explanations for how the pastor could have gotten away with
- 22:26Speaker 1: such atrocious behavior for so long. He writes, the reason
- 22:31Speaker 1: why most people didn't speak up is because they know
- 22:34Speaker 1: your reaction is ruthless. You have a little bit of
- 22:37Speaker 1: local power with enough financial resources to hurt people legally,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and they fear putting their family at risk. And the
- 22:45Speaker 1: few others that don't speak up believe it's not the
- 22:49Speaker 1: Christian thing to do well. Neither is doing nothing. John
- 22:56Speaker 1: Paul's troubles began at an early age. As a teenager,
- 23:00Speaker 1: he earned a criminal record for incidents of delinquency, driving
- 23:03Speaker 1: under the influence, and assault. The most concerning incident occurred
- 23:08Speaker 1: when he was nineteen years old. It was February nineteen
- 23:12Speaker 1: ninety eight. Families in the Bride Creek subdivision of Myrtle
- 23:15Speaker 1: Beach were sandbaging homes in response to extreme flooding. Defying
- 23:20Speaker 1: the road closed to sign, JP entered the neighborhood in
- 23:24Speaker 1: a silver S ten pickup truck with black tape covering
- 23:27Speaker 1: the license plate. According to court records, JP accelerated his
- 23:31Speaker 1: truck into a nineteen year old woman who had asked
- 23:34Speaker 1: him to slow his vehicle. Then he continued to drive
- 23:38Speaker 1: for about one hundred yards with her clinging onto the
- 23:41Speaker 1: hood before he slowed and she was able to safely
- 23:44Speaker 1: roll off. The court ordered that he received a suspended
- 23:48Speaker 1: sentence of four years three years of probation, five hundred
- 23:52Speaker 1: hours of community service, and in order to pay court fees.
- 23:56Speaker 1: On May thirty one, twenty twenty two, Paul applied and
- 24:01Speaker 1: received a pardon for this conviction. Social media and some
- 24:07Speaker 1: news outlets have become rampant with suspicions and accusations leveled
- 24:11Speaker 1: at the pastor related not only to his wife's death,
- 24:15Speaker 1: but of other alleged nefarious behavior. It emerged that the
- 24:19Speaker 1: pastor was having an affair with a woman in the
- 24:21Speaker 1: Solid Rock congregation named Susie Skinner. Susie, seen out for
- 24:27Speaker 1: Margarita's and shots with JP four days after Micah's death,
- 24:31Speaker 1: has formerly denied that she is dating the pastor. Former
- 24:35Speaker 1: church members and friends of JP and Micah said that
- 24:39Speaker 1: the relationship was public and had been going on for
- 24:41Speaker 1: some time. What was not openly discussed was the suspicious
- 24:46Speaker 1: death of Susie's husband, Christopher. Christopher had been wheelchair bound
- 24:51Speaker 1: following a drunk driving accident in two thousand. He met
- 24:55Speaker 1: Susie through his rehabilitation and later became an inspirational ste
- 25:00Speaker 1: speaker and author. On September sixth, twenty twenty one, Christopher
- 25:05Speaker 1: drowned at a community pool in Myrtle Beach when his
- 25:09Speaker 1: wheelchair tipped into the pool and he became trapped underneath it.
- 25:13Speaker 1: He was forty one years old.
- 25:16Speaker 17: He then allegedly begins another affair with a church member
- 25:20Speaker 17: who has a husband who uses a wheelchair who mysteriously
- 25:24Speaker 17: ended up dead and drowned in a pool.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Is that accurate.
- 25:29Speaker 7: Yes, that's what we've been told by people who have
- 25:34Speaker 7: reached out.
- 25:34Speaker 15: We've spoken to former church members, We've spoken to current
- 25:39Speaker 15: church members.
- 25:42Speaker 1: An investigation into Christopher's death found no signs of foul play.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Security camera footage of the community center showed that he
- 25:51Speaker 1: had been there alone, though this did not explain why
- 25:55Speaker 1: his chair abruptly accelerated forward into the pool. Death has
- 26:00Speaker 1: been ruled an accident. JP's ex wife, Allison, has accused
- 26:07Speaker 1: her ex husband of having a sexual addiction and behaving
- 26:10Speaker 1: inappropriately with the teenagers at his church. One of these teens,
- 26:15Speaker 1: now a grown woman, took to Facebook to tell her story,
- 26:19Speaker 1: alleging that John Paul once forced himself on her. John
- 26:23Speaker 1: Paul Miller has been removed from his position as pastor
- 26:27Speaker 1: at the Solid Rock Church, though he is still technically
- 26:30Speaker 1: employed there. None of the pastor's history makes him guilty
- 26:35Speaker 1: of his wife's murder. He may very well be guilty
- 26:38Speaker 1: of other crimes that are now emerging, but it is
- 26:40Speaker 1: too early to tell. What we do know is that
- 26:44Speaker 1: Micah had been keeping track of her husband's transgressions. She
- 26:47Speaker 1: kept detailed diaries that likely recorded contemporaneous reflections of the
- 26:52Speaker 1: abuse that she allegedly suffered at his hands. She knew
- 26:56Speaker 1: about the other women. There were allegedly quite a few.
- 27:00Speaker 1: There is also reason to believe that he was stealing
- 27:03Speaker 1: donations intended for the church and its charitable activities. In
- 27:08Speaker 1: mid March, John Paul was reported to police by another
- 27:11Speaker 1: church member for transferring almost two thousand dollars from the
- 27:15Speaker 1: dare To Care mission in Kenya to his own personal account.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Although her name does not appear in the police report,
- 27:22Speaker 1: Micah is thought to have also been implicated in this
- 27:25Speaker 1: donation scheme alongside JP, as the anonymously named involved other
- 27:31Speaker 1: on the report. Her family believes that making her complicit
- 27:35Speaker 1: in JP's schemes was another way that he sought to
- 27:38Speaker 1: control her. Yet another police report was filed after Micah's death,
- 27:45Speaker 1: when John Paul arrived at the apartment building where Micah
- 27:48Speaker 1: had been living to collect her belongings. Her family believes
- 27:52Speaker 1: that his intentions that day were to collect the diaries
- 27:56Speaker 1: and other documents that could incriminate him. On that occasion,
- 28:00Speaker 1: it was the pastor himself who phoned law enforcement. According
- 28:05Speaker 1: to the report, the leasing agent would not let him
- 28:07Speaker 1: into the home to take his wife's things because they
- 28:11Speaker 1: didn't like him very much. It was Micah's sister, Sierra,
- 28:16Speaker 1: who came into possession of her documents. They are now
- 28:19Speaker 1: being sorted by her lawyer.
- 28:22Speaker 6: The mounds of paper that I have is incredible. She
- 28:26Speaker 6: collected a lot of things. She count the notebook. I
- 28:30Speaker 6: have boxes of journals, which, by the way, he's made
- 28:33Speaker 6: a hundred phone calls looking for as I understand, and
- 28:38Speaker 6: he is constantly trying to stay in front of this
- 28:42Speaker 6: spends some story and.
- 28:46Speaker 1: The investigation into MICA's death continued. After the coroner offered
- 28:50Speaker 1: their conclusion, the Robinson County Police released a report timeline, video, surveillance,
- 28:56Speaker 1: and other evidence compiled in the course of their investigation.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Their conclusions were not well received. The ring camera outside
- 29:06Speaker 1: of the apartment where Micah was living captured her leaving
- 29:08Speaker 1: the home at ten thirteen a m. On Saturday, April
- 29:11Speaker 1: twenty seventh, the day she died. She returned at eleven
- 29:16Speaker 1: a m Micah was alone. She left again a few
- 29:19Speaker 1: minutes later and drove to Dick's Pawnshop in Myrtle Beach,
- 29:23Speaker 1: where a camera caught her exiting her car and entering
- 29:26Speaker 1: the superstore. In the store, at just past noon, Micah
- 29:31Speaker 1: is shown independently purchasing the sig Sour handgun. She passed
- 29:36Speaker 1: a criminal background check and was able to leave the
- 29:39Speaker 1: store with the gun immediately. Her phone search history showed
- 29:43Speaker 1: that she searched for a national park, returning the directions
- 29:47Speaker 1: for lumber River State Park. On the way to the park,
- 29:51Speaker 1: she stopped off at a gas station where she purchased
- 29:53Speaker 1: a drink. The receipt was found in her car, and
- 29:56Speaker 1: security camera footage in the store showed her once again
- 30:00Speaker 1: shopping alone. Micah carried on to the state park. Once there,
- 30:06Speaker 1: mike A placed a call to.
- 30:08Speaker 18: Nine one Rmlston County. Now one one, what's the address
- 30:12Speaker 18: of your emergency?
- 30:15Speaker 19: Hi?
- 30:16Speaker 20: Are you able to trace the location of my phone?
- 30:22Speaker 18: Let me see you don't know where you're at.
- 30:26Speaker 20: A national park? I have my location on I think
- 30:31Speaker 20: on my phone. Find my phone is on.
- 30:36Speaker 18: I don't thank you are Ian Robinson County? Yeah, LUMBI
- 30:42Speaker 18: the Lumber River State Park.
- 30:45Speaker 20: Yeah, that's where I am.
- 30:48Speaker 18: Tell me what's happened.
- 30:50Speaker 20: I just want my family to know where to find me.
- 30:54Speaker 1: The final statement that Micah made to the operator was
- 30:57Speaker 1: to state her intentions what she was about to do.
- 31:01Speaker 1: She only wanted her family to be able to locate her.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Despite this, there are those online who have claimed to
- 31:09Speaker 1: hear a man's voice in the background, perhaps convincing her
- 31:13Speaker 1: to lie on the phone call. Still, others have suggested
- 31:16Speaker 1: that the voice on the call is not Micah at all,
- 31:19Speaker 1: but produced by AI as a part of John Paul
- 31:22Speaker 1: Miller's plan to get away with murder. Conspiracy theories that
- 31:28Speaker 1: have picked up steam include accusing Johnny the Fisherman of
- 31:32Speaker 1: being the gunman. Others say that JP had another accomplice
- 31:36Speaker 1: with whom he switched cell phones to throw off any
- 31:39Speaker 1: location data. These theories all aim to point the finger
- 31:43Speaker 1: at JP as the killer, even though he seems to
- 31:46Speaker 1: have a rock solid alibi. The night before Micah was shot,
- 31:54Speaker 1: JP drove to a sporting event in Charleston, a roughly
- 31:57Speaker 1: three hour drive south of Lumber River Park. In North Carolina.
- 32:02Speaker 1: The investigation located multiple eyewitnesses who confirmed that the pastor
- 32:06Speaker 1: was at this event all weekend. License plate readers tracked
- 32:10Speaker 1: his truck en route to and from Charleston to further
- 32:14Speaker 1: corroborate the witnesses. Despite misinformation being released to the contrary,
- 32:20Speaker 1: the investigative report clearly states that there were multiple passengers
- 32:24Speaker 1: traveling together. Although JP was reported to be traveling with
- 32:28Speaker 1: his new girlfriend, his alibi is not dependent upon her
- 32:32Speaker 1: word alone. He simply could not have been with Micah
- 32:35Speaker 1: when she died or been the person who pulled the trigger,
- 32:40Speaker 1: though whether he still bears responsibility for her death in
- 32:43Speaker 1: other ways is a separate question. On Sunday May twelfth,
- 32:48Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, John Paul held a funeral for Micah
- 32:52Speaker 1: at the Solid Rock Church. Her family did not attend.
- 32:57Speaker 7: I can't even if I had ten hours today, that
- 33:00Speaker 7: wouldn't be enough time to tell you all the great
- 33:02Speaker 7: things about her and what it was like to be
- 33:05Speaker 7: intimate relationship with her. You know, I still can hear
- 33:11Speaker 7: a voice, and I can still picture just walking in
- 33:16Speaker 7: the front door. And it was a great step mom.
- 33:19Speaker 7: She in fact, she did so much work with the
- 33:22Speaker 7: kids all the time. She was the one that would
- 33:23Speaker 7: always help pick them up from school and get their food,
- 33:26Speaker 7: and she'd take Sailor, my daughter all the time to
- 33:30Speaker 7: get their nails done, or to go to Lulu Limon
- 33:32Speaker 7: or all these special early girly things, you know. And
- 33:36Speaker 7: I appreciated that from the very very beginning. Not once
- 33:40Speaker 7: did she ever ever complained about me having five kids.
- 33:45Speaker 7: And this was my favorite parody that she did give me.
- 34:05Speaker 7: Take me for imagine being married to that. It was
- 34:31Speaker 7: like that in our house all the time. Y'all stand
- 34:34Speaker 7: on your feet, and Pastor Randall's going to close in prayer.
- 34:38Speaker 1: The report released by Robinson County Sheriff Bernice Wilkins concluded
- 34:42Speaker 1: that unfortunately, rumors and conspiracy theories were spreading quickly and
- 34:47Speaker 1: assumptions were being made. However, in the end, we must
- 34:51Speaker 1: make decisions based on the facts and evidence that has
- 34:54Speaker 1: been gathered. While I know it's not what many people
- 34:57Speaker 1: wanted to hear, the evidence is quite clear and compelling
- 35:01Speaker 1: and we are as saddened as anyone that this occurred.
- 35:05Speaker 1: The report did not end the speculation. Indeed, the evidence
- 35:10Speaker 1: released has now been scrutinized in an effort to discredit
- 35:13Speaker 1: its conclusions.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Whoa whoa, That truck is ten and black? How do
- 35:19Speaker 2: I know who's in it? And also how do I
- 35:22Speaker 2: know he was at an athletic event and was he
- 35:25Speaker 2: there the whole time? And how far away is that
- 35:30Speaker 2: event from where Micah was killed.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Independent media is questioning why a small cross tattoo on
- 35:38Speaker 1: Micah's hand is not visible from the camera angle at
- 35:41Speaker 1: the pawn shop while she purchased the gun. Videos have
- 35:45Speaker 1: been published questioning the timestamps on the security footage from
- 35:49Speaker 1: the parking lot, perhaps suggesting that the footage has been altered.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Many do not wish to accept the nine to one
- 35:55Speaker 1: one call happened at all.
- 35:58Speaker 8: I really hope that once this nine one one phone
- 36:00Speaker 8: call is released, somebody can dissect it and look at it,
- 36:04Speaker 8: a professional that could say, Okay, yeah, this is AI generated,
- 36:08Speaker 8: because there are ways to do that, because I'm not
- 36:11Speaker 8: buying this for a second.
- 36:12Speaker 1: If this guy had solid rock. Church leaders have reported
- 36:16Speaker 1: receiving harassing phone calls and messages. The coroner who performed
- 36:21Speaker 1: the medical exam has received threats, so as Johnny Jacobs,
- 36:25Speaker 1: the fishermen from the state park. He has now appeared
- 36:28Speaker 1: on multiple news outlets declaring his innocence. As these theories spread,
- 36:34Speaker 1: so do the allegations and online abuse.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I want just to stop as far as making I
- 36:39Speaker 4: don't want to make this all about me, because I'm
- 36:41Speaker 4: still thinking about my I'm trying to respect her family
- 36:44Speaker 4: and I got told to respect for them, and I
- 36:47Speaker 4: am so sorry for what they're going through. I never
- 36:49Speaker 4: thought my day would turn.
- 36:50Speaker 14: Out right now.
- 36:52Speaker 1: John Paul has hired a lawyer. Letters have been issued
- 36:55Speaker 1: calling for an end to the accusations of murder and
- 36:58Speaker 1: other abusive behavior directed at JP that is proliferating online.
- 37:02Speaker 6: I felt like I had come across the answer of
- 37:07Speaker 6: maybe why she would have taken it this far, and
- 37:12Speaker 6: that is he had her convinced that this was what
- 37:16Speaker 6: she should do. In my opinion, I believe he had
- 37:19Speaker 6: her convinced that it would be the only way that
- 37:22Speaker 6: she could escape him to some degree. I believe that
- 37:27Speaker 6: he used every tactic and tool that he could.
- 37:32Speaker 1: The pastor has denied ever hurting his wife in any way.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Claims that he had groomed her since the age of
- 37:38Speaker 1: ten must be false, he says, because they did not
- 37:41Speaker 1: meet until she was fourteen. The police report where this
- 37:44Speaker 1: accusation made by Micah is recorded, probably transcribed her statements inaccurately.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Micah likely would have stated that the grooming began in
- 37:54Speaker 1: twenty ten, not when she was ten years old. Micah
- 37:59Speaker 1: was made it before a second independent autopsy could be performed.
- 38:05Speaker 1: It seems that there are also gaps in the standard
- 38:07Speaker 1: practices in North Carolina that Micah's family believe rendered the
- 38:11Speaker 1: autopsy incomplete. They did not perform a toxicology, for example.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Adding more fuel to the fire, John Paul pushed for
- 38:20Speaker 1: a cremation immediately. Family reported that he refused access to
- 38:25Speaker 1: view Micah until after they agreed to this. The family
- 38:29Speaker 1: are not giving up.
- 38:33Speaker 21: I believe that it was all staged.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I believe that the whole thing was premeditated. I believe
- 38:38Speaker 1: that the narrative.
- 38:40Speaker 21: Was established by Junior all the way through before there
- 38:44Speaker 21: was a release, Like the day we were notified, he
- 38:47Speaker 21: was already saying she did it, she did it. Why
- 38:50Speaker 21: would you do that if you don't have all the
- 38:52Speaker 21: information yet, why would you not be grieving? And just
- 38:57Speaker 21: you know, he has not shown any remorse, no grief.
- 39:02Speaker 21: He shows nervousness, he shows guilt, he shows you know
- 39:08Speaker 21: that he is hiding something.
- 39:12Speaker 12: Hey, everybody, I just wanted to share the course of
- 39:15Speaker 12: a song that came to my head the other day.
- 39:19Speaker 19: I was just kind of battling thoughts of just kind
- 39:23Speaker 19: of like human thoughts, you know, things that you want
- 39:25Speaker 19: to do, and it's just a fleeting thought, you know,
- 39:29Speaker 19: and then this song came to my mind because it says,
- 39:33Speaker 19: you know, bless those who cursed you, pray for your enemies,
- 39:36Speaker 19: things like that.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Revelations from John Paul Miller's past continue to accumulate, and
- 39:42Speaker 1: the outcry for action to be taken is only growing.
- 39:46Speaker 11: I pray for you.
- 39:47Speaker 1: He It has been reported that the FBI's assistance has
- 39:51Speaker 1: been requested by law enforcement in North Carolina, but with
- 39:56Speaker 1: the death investigation now declared closed, it is unclear what
- 40:00Speaker 1: aspects of the case the FBI agents have been asked
- 40:04Speaker 1: to look into.
- 40:07Speaker 11: A preme miracle.
- 40:09Speaker 12: So very your High.
- 40:10Speaker 19: In Jesus' name, in Jesus.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Name, that was the tragic case of Mike and Miller.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Thank you so much for watching, and a special thanks
- 40:27Speaker 1: again to everyone in the members lounge. I'm Kevin. This
- 40:31Speaker 1: is just thought lounge, and I'll see in the next one.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I found out the watch when the scene.
- 40:40Speaker 20: Please tell me who the screen saves.
- 40:41Speaker 7: I can hear the Christ repeat.
- 40:43Speaker 3: You gotta take my time because these crimes get deep,
- 40:45Speaker 3: but these stories can't hide.
- 40:46Speaker 20: Let me find my seat.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Can you go ahead and settle in?
- 40:49Speaker 3: Y'tt to be selective, doing all the research, keeping it objective,
- 40:52Speaker 3: always being effective. He say he got a neck,
