- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. From the chicken coop, Let's
- 0:31talk about where is Joy located? Somebody asked me that last
- 0:36week. So where do you think Joy is
- 0:37located? And I started laughing and I
- 0:39said, that's an interesting question, Where is Joy located?
- 0:42How do you find Joy? Because we were talking about
- 0:45discovering Joy, making Joy, finding Joy.
- 0:47And so she said, where is Joy located?
- 0:50And it actually caused me to pause for a second because I was
- 0:53like, wait a second, is it externally?
- 0:56Are we out seeking it? And the answer is no.
- 0:59It's internal. We know that, like, you know,
- 1:01you, you find Joy inside yourself, but really, where is
- 1:05it located inside of you so you can go get it?
- 1:09It's kind of, it's kind of like finding something in the closet,
- 1:12right? Like, you go and you look and
- 1:14you're like, OK, I know I'm looking for this spice.
- 1:15And I know you said it was in this closet, but where exactly
- 1:18in this closet is it supposed to be?
- 1:21So after some deep conversation with her, we came to the
- 1:25conclusion it was more of a collaborative effort.
- 1:28Let's just say in the fact that we believe that joy is found in
- 1:34your thoughts, it's and your thoughts.
- 1:36Then you know, have the emotions and the feelings and then that
- 1:39produces joy. But it is first cultivated in
- 1:42that thought. It's first cultivated in that
- 1:44initial like, OK, it's here, it's in our thoughts.
- 1:48It's, it's and. And here's where it gets tricky.
- 1:51How can you separate thoughts or emotions?
- 1:53It's very hard for human beings to do that because they're so
- 1:55close, nanoseconds intertwined next to impossible to separate
- 2:00it, next to impossible to separate them.
- 2:02Sometimes we will refer to it as time slowed down and I had the
- 2:07thought and then the emotion came up, but it usually that's
- 2:11predicated by what emotion is driving you anyway.
- 2:13So chicken and the egg, no pun intended, because I'm in the
- 2:15coop, but you get the point. So joy is located in our
- 2:20thoughts. So if joy is located in our
- 2:22thoughts, that means we have a lot more control over it than we
- 2:25think we do. So again, it comes back to the
- 2:28mindful things of being joyous about the everyday, mundane
- 2:33things. Finding joy in the things that
- 2:36are around us all the time. Except we don't necessarily find
- 2:42joy in that stuff. So take coming out to the
- 2:46chicken coop. You've heard me mention this
- 2:47before. There are some people who would
- 2:49not find joy in taking care of chickens.
- 2:52I, however, do. Some people would not find joy
- 2:55in how noisy they are. I do.
- 2:57I think it's so hysterical to me that they cackle the way they
- 3:00do. And all this cackling that you
- 3:02hear in the background right now is because out of the 8 egg
- 3:05boxes they have to choose from, somebody wants the one that
- 3:08someone else is sitting in. So therefore that means a big
- 3:13thing. OK, I'm going to cackle at you
- 3:15until you do something about it and it just makes me laugh every
- 3:18time I hear it anyway. So point is, we're talking about
- 3:23finding this joy. That is a point of joy for me.
- 3:26It's not a point of annoyance. I make it.
- 3:29I choose it to be about joy. I don't choose it to be about
- 3:32something negative. I choose it to be about
- 3:34something positive and say this is who they are and they're
- 3:37getting to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
- 3:41Because Lord knows, I don't think they could have gone many
- 3:44places that would spoil them as much as I spoil them.
- 3:47So I find joy that they're having the best chicken life
- 3:50that they can. I find joy in the chores.
- 3:53I find joy in the raking and the cleaning and the caring of them.
- 3:58Because one, it's totally part of my certainty, girl.
- 4:01It's their environment. So I can clean it, create it,
- 4:04make it everything that I want. I've decided, oh, I want to put
- 4:07roses along their fence. I can do that.
- 4:09I find joy in those things, even though is it a lot to care for?
- 4:14Sure. But I'm choosing to seek those
- 4:17little things out. So you have to ask yourself, can
- 4:20I go into my head? Can I go into my thoughts?
- 4:23Can I go into my emotions and my feelings and set up neural
- 4:26pathways for joy? And the answer is yes you can.
- 4:31You can set up that track to happen.
- 4:35You are in complete control of it though.
- 4:37It's not going to happen by accident.
- 4:39You actually have to work at it. You have to cultivate that and
- 4:43set yourself up for it. So the question is this month of
- 4:47February, setting that up for yourself, saying, okay, it's
- 4:52right at the beginning of the month, supposed to be, you know,
- 4:54Valentine's Day for those who celebrate that kind of thing.
- 4:57And it's a month of love and it's, you know, the latter part
- 5:02of the winter. So there's lots of things that
- 5:04are starting to get done and ready to pop for spring, and
- 5:08it's just a great time to start thinking and planning about
- 5:11that. So what if you took these next
- 5:15number of days that we have left in this month and say, OK, I'm
- 5:18going to really work, really, really work on bringing that joy
- 5:22out because it's in my thoughts, it's nowhere else.
- 5:25It's in my head. And cultivate that joy.
- 5:29By the end of this month you're going to have it.
- 5:32So look for the small things, write them down, make a plan,
- 5:35ask yourself what is the joy in this?
- 5:38And if you can't answer that positively, then you say, OK,
- 5:42what do I need to do to experience joy in this?
- 5:45And And 9 out of 10 times that answer, my friends, is just make
- 5:49the choice. Just say no.
- 5:50I choose joy, 'cause you can find joy in anything.
- 5:54We've all met that bus driver that's driving a bus, and he's
- 5:56talking to everybody. And he's like, I just love
- 5:58meeting people. So he's not driving the bus
- 6:01because it's like the joy of the bus.
- 6:03It's that he meets people. He found his joy.
- 6:06So do the same thing, OK, my friends, I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:09I hope you have a blessed day. Bye.
