- 0:00Speaker 1: So Drake May is a very accurate quarterback.
- 0:03Speaker 2: And if you're looking at this play before the snap,
- 0:05Speaker 2: you're like, man, this has got to.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Be a completion.
- 0:09Speaker 2: What's up, good people, We're back on Blueprint presented by
- 0:12Speaker 2: Microsoft copolot, an official AI sponsor of the NFL. We're
- 0:17Speaker 2: going to be talking about Drake May. We're gonna be
- 0:19Speaker 2: talking about his mobility, his accuracy. We're gonna have some
- 0:22Speaker 2: current NFL guys come in and give us some quotes
- 0:25Speaker 2: about him.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk to you about how to defend it,
- 0:28Speaker 1: maybe how to stop him. Let's go right here, we
- 0:32Speaker 1: got Jeffrey Simmons. Let's see, let's go.
- 0:34Speaker 3: When you play against a quarterback like Drake May, quarterback
- 0:38Speaker 3: that's not only kid throw the ball.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Downfield and get the ball to receivers, but also extend
- 0:43Speaker 1: plays and run if you need to. We need to
- 0:45Speaker 1: be on the same page up front.
- 0:46Speaker 3: We need to make sure that we keep a quarterback
- 0:48Speaker 3: in the well for equals one.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's one quarterback. We're all trying to get out to
- 0:52Speaker 1: the quarterback.
- 0:53Speaker 3: But if we're not on the same page, everyone just
- 0:56Speaker 3: doing what they want to do.
- 0:57Speaker 1: A guy like Drake May, he will make you pay
- 0:59Speaker 1: for it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: As he's saying four to one, those four guys gotta
- 1:03Speaker 2: be on the same page. The whole defense really gotta
- 1:05Speaker 2: be on the same page when you're playing against.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Your running quarterback.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Let's go to the copolygy so we could use this
- 1:11Speaker 2: AI power technology that the pros us.
- 1:14Speaker 1: On the sideline. And again I'm gonna show you how
- 1:16Speaker 1: easy it is.
- 1:16Speaker 2: We're gonna go to quarter here, We're gonna hit four
- 1:19Speaker 2: quarter all right, turnovers, go to fumble, and it takes
- 1:24Speaker 2: us right where we need to be. This is the image,
- 1:27Speaker 2: the final image before the snap starts that you, as
- 1:31Speaker 2: a defender want to be breaking down.
- 1:34Speaker 1: You can see the raiders.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Are lined up in the zone defense two shell probably
- 1:39Speaker 2: concerned about his mobility, you know, don't really want to blitzing,
- 1:45Speaker 2: but also don't want to give up too much.
- 1:47Speaker 1: In the past. This is a shot zone.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We like to call it between the forties, right, They
- 1:54Speaker 2: like to throw the ball towards the end zone. So
- 1:57Speaker 2: line up in two shell, take all that away, hopefully,
- 2:00Speaker 2: keep some eyes on him, keep him in the pocket,
- 2:02Speaker 2: keep him from scrambling. So now that we see that
- 2:05Speaker 2: there's a great pocket here, we looked at those pre
- 2:07Speaker 2: snap images. Let's go to the video and see exactly
- 2:11Speaker 2: what happened in these plays and put my co polltt down.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Let's get to the video.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's only four four man rush, so he got time.
- 2:21Speaker 2: He actually got that U shape, a little smile you
- 2:24Speaker 2: can see. But these guys are playing coverage. That's a
- 2:28Speaker 2: win situation. Anytime a defense can rush for and play
- 2:32Speaker 2: coverage behind it. You're not able to see Drake Maye's
- 2:36Speaker 2: mobility here. You're not able to see how accurate he
- 2:39Speaker 2: would be because the Raiders did a great job by
- 2:44Speaker 2: just rushing in their lanes as nobody's open. That's why
- 2:48Speaker 2: you didn't see the checkdown so late because everybody else's coverage.
- 2:53Speaker 2: The checkdown is your last result, and by that time
- 2:57Speaker 2: you could see the rush that got there.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So I think this route was built for just this dagger.
- 3:01Speaker 2: We call this we call this route combination the dagger
- 3:05Speaker 2: where he runs and he comes in. But these guys,
- 3:09Speaker 2: he's not even running the route. And these guys are
- 3:13Speaker 2: in this way right here, in this window where's you're
- 3:16Speaker 2: gonna go with the ball.
- 3:18Speaker 1: There's no way he's throwing this ball. That's an interception.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But the rush beat you there.
- 3:23Speaker 2: As a quarterback, you gotta be able to come up
- 3:25Speaker 2: off of quicker. Notice what the coverage is, Recognize the coverage,
- 3:29Speaker 2: and come up off it. To summarize this playing, to
- 3:32Speaker 2: give you the blueprint simple. Anytime you can rush for
- 3:35Speaker 2: four guys and drop seven against the guy and win,
- 3:41Speaker 2: that's what you do. But when you can contain them,
- 3:43Speaker 2: keep them in the pocket, rush the lanes and make plays.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Guys win their one on one battles. That's how you win.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And this guy coming up, my nephew, come on now,
- 3:54Speaker 2: the Mario Davis, Yes, do it.
- 3:56Speaker 3: The rookies they really either go to their first read
- 4:00Speaker 3: and then start to scramble, or they may go first
- 4:03Speaker 3: lead to their second lead and then scramble or take
- 4:05Speaker 3: a sack or throw the ball away. A guy like
- 4:08Speaker 3: Drake May is very comfortable in going to his first
- 4:11Speaker 3: read that may be on the middle of the field
- 4:13Speaker 3: on the front side, and then he'll come back to
- 4:15Speaker 3: his backside and then he'll go to this checkdown and
- 4:17Speaker 3: he'll get the ball out quick. And so to take
- 4:19Speaker 3: away a lethal quarterback like that, now you have to
- 4:22Speaker 3: get the safeties involved. Now, when you get the safety
- 4:25Speaker 3: is involved, what does that do. It opens up the
- 4:27Speaker 3: big play and by the time you realize it, ball
- 4:31Speaker 3: is gone and if it's on time, it's touchdown. You
- 4:34Speaker 3: know it's a big play. And that's what he's able
- 4:36Speaker 3: to do.
- 4:36Speaker 2: For Drake may to be able to go through his progression,
- 4:39Speaker 2: that's huge in itself. Now, we couldn't get everybody on video,
- 4:43Speaker 2: but James White, he got so much respect for Drake
- 4:46Speaker 2: may Man he even sent us a DM. So he's
- 4:49Speaker 2: playing decisive, getting the ball lout his hands quickly when
- 4:52Speaker 2: he has the opportunity to make plays down the field.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He's extremely accurate.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Josh mcdania has done a great job of taking this
- 4:59Speaker 2: game to the next level. I mean, you're just talking
- 5:02Speaker 2: about coaches that are in position to make guys good.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So Drake may is a very accurate quarterback. But now
- 5:08Speaker 2: we're gonna look at it from how we're defending this
- 5:10Speaker 2: the blueprint. I gotta give you the blueprint on how
- 5:12Speaker 2: to defend this thing, you know. So we're just gonna
- 5:14Speaker 2: go to all We're gonna here first quarter, we're going
- 5:17Speaker 2: to games hit no games, and we're gonna go to
- 5:21Speaker 2: play five here.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And it's just that simple on how.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You run it on the sideline. We got a condensed
- 5:27Speaker 2: formation by the Patriots and Drake May and those guys
- 5:32Speaker 2: Carolina has. These guys press already to draw off that time.
- 5:38Speaker 2: They want to discourage this guy's accuracy. It's looking like
- 5:42Speaker 2: a thirty three situation. So you can expect either the
- 5:45Speaker 2: ball to come out quick on the offensive side, and
- 5:49Speaker 2: you can expect some pressure from the defense. Let's see
- 5:51Speaker 2: what the next image look like for Drake May. Here
- 5:53Speaker 2: on the back end side of that, you'll see what
- 5:55Speaker 2: he sees pre snap. Read he's inside on his this
- 6:00Speaker 2: guy pressure coming, you know. It don't look like any
- 6:04Speaker 2: of these guys are blitzen to him, but maybe they
- 6:06Speaker 2: disguising it good. We look at the next image here,
- 6:10Speaker 2: you can see nobody came and they Patriots actually chipped
- 6:14Speaker 2: that defensive end up there. And if you're looking at
- 6:17Speaker 2: this play before the snap, you're like, man, this is
- 6:19Speaker 2: got to be a completion. You rushing forward, We're gonna
- 6:22Speaker 2: chip you that way we can get receivers down the field,
- 6:26Speaker 2: you know, and slow that rush up. In the next
- 6:28Speaker 2: image we have here, you can see Drake as a
- 6:31Speaker 2: nice little pocket. Let's go to the video and see
- 6:35Speaker 2: exactly what happened in these players look like the Carolina
- 6:38Speaker 2: Patricks and man, which I love. This guy got this guy,
- 6:42Speaker 2: he got him. That little slight motion is to see
- 6:44Speaker 2: what to see. If Caroline's in man, they see that,
- 6:49Speaker 2: they switch off and.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They're not in man. They're in a zone.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So right now you already know they disguising to confuse
- 6:56Speaker 2: Drake May he's looking at the safety right down the
- 6:59Speaker 2: middle of the field, jump his receiver. If he's seeing
- 7:02Speaker 2: that safety leave the middle of the field, I'm sure
- 7:06Speaker 2: his coach told him to throw that ball over here
- 7:09Speaker 2: versus to him. So now we're just gonna look at
- 7:11Speaker 2: the defense. Like you said, they're in the cover three here,
- 7:14Speaker 2: this guy got this third, He got that third, He
- 7:17Speaker 2: got that third. Now in the cover three situation, this
- 7:21Speaker 2: guy got deep third.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He should not be jumping us.
- 7:24Speaker 2: That's why I say, from an offensive side, if Drake
- 7:27Speaker 2: may see this happening, all this is open now with
- 7:31Speaker 2: a little late release, and that cornerback makes a hell
- 7:35Speaker 2: of a play. But as he vacates the field, if
- 7:38Speaker 2: you're looking at that safety, that ball comes here and
- 7:41Speaker 2: not behind the receiver. So as accurate as Drake has
- 7:46Speaker 2: been on this particular play, he wasn't because the.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Disguise got him.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I think so in order to stop those type of things,
- 7:54Speaker 2: the blueprint against it is be a hell of a
- 7:57Speaker 2: disguising team.
- 7:58Speaker 1: We're gonna wrap this up talking about Drake May.
- 8:00Speaker 2: We had a bunch of NFL stars come through, Jeffrey
- 8:04Speaker 2: Simmons to Mario Davis, and James White even gave us
- 8:06Speaker 2: a DM so we could talk about his mobility.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And his accuracy.
- 8:10Speaker 2: We didn't get to see it all on his blueprint,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but you could see the ability is there. But the defenders,
- 8:16Speaker 2: they're doing their homework and they're doing it well.
