- 0:00Yo, what's going on, ladies and gentlemen? What's going on, folks?
- 0:04And everybody in between, welcome to the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 0:08My name is David, and I'm your host, the host of this wonderful, legendary podcast.
- 0:14And today, you know, don't mind me. I, you know, I came from a little so-called jogging, in a sense.
- 0:21I'm like, you know what? Let me get my creative juices.
- 0:24And I'm like, let me, you know, do a little run, get something.
- 0:28And I'm like, you know what?
- 0:30I could just be like, all right, just clean myself. I'm a little bit with some
- 0:33grass here because things are about to get a little, a little,
- 0:37just a little bit of moisture.
- 0:38I just needed something to get out of my chest in regards to the Destiny 2 situation.
- 0:46And once again, for those who are joining in, welcome to the Deconstructed Topic
- 0:50Podcast. Today, we got a definite good one.
- 0:53For those people out there that know me personally and
- 0:56for those people who have been following in
- 0:58my channel and might not know me personally hey if you're listening
- 1:01to me by all means you know what your
- 1:04family and one of the things that i have said uh before
- 1:07it's my enjoyment or my me
- 1:11enjoying video gaming um as a little kind of form of my form of entertainment
- 1:17and i'm an og dude when i say og i'm talking about nes uh sega genesis super
- 1:24nintendo sega genesis those other Oh, yo, chill. Relax, David.
- 1:28Relax, my boy. But you already know PlayStation and.
- 1:32Perhaps the greatest, the greatest console of all time, PlayStation 2.
- 1:37Hey, and I'm a Microsoft Xbox dude playing currently on the Xbox Series X.
- 1:44You already know we make it happen. And today I got like a little kind of little
- 1:51love letter and kind of love, loss, love, whatever letter to Destiny 2.
- 1:58Hearing the news about June 9th being the last time that Bungie,
- 2:03the developer of Destiny 2, will be like, hey, no mas, no more.
- 2:09No more content, no more whatever. Final update.
- 2:13So, Guardians, please bear with me. Because we might have a tier or two, maybe, perhaps.
- 2:18And the reason why I'm doing this podcast is, first and foremost,
- 2:22for the people out there just like me who have enjoyed Destiny 2,
- 2:25who have enjoyed Destiny, But we're talking about Destiny 2.
- 2:29You know, Destiny 2, hey, listen, it's more than just a game for some people.
- 2:34It's more than just words. It's more about the Guardians, the Ghosts, whatever it is.
- 2:39And look, listen, I'm not going to try to go in details here because I'll be the first one to say.
- 2:44Destiny 2 was created for players like me who just want to log in and have some fun.
- 2:50Sometimes I did strikes, whatever, multiplayer match, all this good stuff,
- 2:55you know, and just enjoyed it.
- 2:57Now I try to reel in some of my people, some of my buddies out there,
- 3:02but you know, sadly, destiny is not for everybody. I get it.
- 3:07I get it, but that's why I want to discuss this and a little disheartening,
- 3:12if you will, that Bungie's kind of decided to say, you know what?
- 3:16We got this new game marathon that might not be up to part or it might not be
- 3:20at its best or whatever it is, but if we put some work here,
- 3:23perhaps that could be there and then.
- 3:27Leave Destiny 2 because Destiny 2 is, again, it's an escape for people.
- 3:32It's a legacy. it's one of those games you got the you know the Call of Duties
- 3:37for the sports fan you got the Mannings the 2K sports and all that good stuff
- 3:41you know for some people out there who you know hey listen I get it Battlefield multiplayer,
- 3:47you know got a war for those single player people you know we could go on and
- 3:51on and so forth and Destiny 2 was that game hey listen I,
- 3:55had a long day at work 9 hours you been there I've been there,
- 3:59you know we had a rough week and what we do
- 4:02Like me, hey, listen, I'm a Mondays through Friday type of worker,
- 4:06and there are many weekends, many weekends that I went and played my little
- 4:11Destiny 2, and I said to myself, wow, I'm having a good time.
- 4:15I'm enjoying myself playing by myself.
- 4:17I was more of a solo player.
- 4:21Did a couple of raids here and there, invited people in those Destiny 2 forums.
- 4:26Hey, listen, you want to link up? I did play Destiny 2 on the PlayStation 4,
- 4:30but for the most part, you know, Xbox, Xbox, and Xbox. Hey, listen, I'm a Sony.
- 4:36I was a Sony dude. I'm not saying I'm, you know, never going to play a PlayStation again.
- 4:41But again, it's just to tell you how much I enjoy this game.
- 4:45I was playing this game in two platforms. Let's go.
- 4:48But anyways, that's what's going on with Destiny being an OG.
- 4:51It kind of hurts. And, you know, and...
- 4:56How can I say? Again, I have not played this game in quite a while because I
- 5:00just felt like, yes, the game was made and tailored for people to want that you win, you win.
- 5:07But sadly, the game was started to become more like you're losing players.
- 5:12You know what I'm saying? And I want to say is this in regards to Destiny and Destiny 2.
- 5:19Problem and then you know obviously when the game started back in 2000 when
- 5:22it launched in 2017 i mean it took a while to get traction
- 5:25uh what they call the vanilla time i mean it was just like
- 5:27what the hell it sounds like good idea
- 5:30it was just so simple but once you know
- 5:33it started to kind of like kick in like
- 5:36hey all right what we got here and again
- 5:40and i and i want to kind of take you in that perspective of
- 5:43someone who's an og from the nintendo days you
- 5:46know what i mean and i'm pretty show this those in the uh elders
- 5:49out there who have played destiny i've seen i forgot there
- 5:52was this uh i believe it's something grandpa i see them in
- 5:55twigs playing destiny too i'm just hoping that that's him
- 5:58but shout out to him and you know put in the work because look when it comes
- 6:02to gaming and i always explain to people i know that people historically have
- 6:08said oh that so that's all you do is stay home and play video games i'm just
- 6:12saying no i don't you know i balance my life,
- 6:15But if I was to pick an entertainment while I'm home,
- 6:19you know, that for me, and I know a lot of people that have done that,
- 6:22it's, hey, listen, game it, game it.
- 6:24I could sit down and watch movies. I could sit down and do this.
- 6:28I could do this. I could do that.
- 6:29But, you know, you put in that work on gaming or whatever it is.
- 6:33But, hey, listen, please hear me out. I do live a very balanced life. So relax out there.
- 6:39But if you're out there just living on balance, dedicated to a destiny to,
- 6:44by all means, then this is where it kind of baffled me in regards to Bungie's decision.
- 6:51Because, you know, one can make the argument that, hey, listen,
- 6:54We kind of forgot, you know, like, what more can we do in Destiny 2?
- 6:59You know, creative juices, and we're going to go from here to this game called Marathon.
- 7:03And I'm saying to myself, right, valid, fair argument.
- 7:08But one can also, like, Destiny community, and then, you know,
- 7:14look, and I've come across many streamers on Destiny when it comes to,
- 7:20you know, the people that show love to destiny 2
- 7:23and be there i mean uh there's some individuals that
- 7:26play this game hardcore i know that pecky tv out
- 7:29there doing the thing on the multiplayers or whatever it is i
- 7:32came across uh they dado or something to that effect i mean these are people
- 7:36that put in work when it comes to the game in itself you got some of the old
- 7:40school fellas playing king the giant or whatever his name is i mean because
- 7:45i've again coming across destiny and coming across, no pun intended,
- 7:51Astro Cross as an individual that I've, you know, he's kind of like my go-to
- 7:56guy where I'm living destiny too, but he's telling me, you know,
- 8:01what's the feedback, whatever it is.
- 8:03Hey, by all means, you know, so shout out to those folks out there and Astro
- 8:08Cross and King Calive and all that.
- 8:10And I could understand where these folks are coming in and feeling a certain
- 8:14way about, wait a minute. so.
- 8:18Yes, Destiny 2 has been dying in a sense for quite a while, but you're going
- 8:24to tell me, and again, I'm going back to the point that I was going to make
- 8:28here, is that can you turn Destiny 2 into kind of a Call of Duty,
- 8:33kind of like when it comes to the sport, John Madden and the Madden football
- 8:37and then the 2K, where, look, if you look at those people, you know,
- 8:42those games, they got this hardcore, I'm not going to say hardcore, but very loyal fan base.
- 8:49Destiny at least at least could get
- 8:53a hundred thousand loyal players
- 8:56so what does that mean every year you could come up with some type of model
- 9:01because even the people in the madden community 2k call of duty they're gonna
- 9:06there's people that are gonna complain about the game it's the same so on the
- 9:11only thing difference is the roster whatever it is but the fact that the game
- 9:14comes out, and then once it comes out,
- 9:16they throw in a little bit of content just to get people rolling,
- 9:19depending on what game modes it is, whatever it is, on Call of Duty.
- 9:24But the fact is this, that the motto is every year they come out with something.
- 9:28And perhaps Destiny could have come out with something where it's kind of like
- 9:33a season, like a sports season in a sense that you come out with some content.
- 9:38Whether the content is good or not, the fact that there are players who,
- 9:42especially if you are loyal, especially those in a Destiny 2 community, they'll play the game.
- 9:47They'll stay loyal because it's better to have content than no content.
- 9:54And just throw it, you know, even if it's garbage content, I know that in the
- 9:57multiplayer, we've seen some stuff.
- 9:59I was one that I enjoy the multiplayer, but, you know, you start playing the
- 10:03same thing and the same maps and the same modes and, you know,
- 10:07you just got a handful of both, especially me. Hey, listen, again, I'm dolo dolo.
- 10:11When I say dolo, dolo means I'm playing solo. But the fact that just add something,
- 10:17just mess with it, and then you would have these fans because the fact is this.
- 10:22You're going to tell me, and look, with all respect to these developers.
- 10:26You know, some of these folks, they work hard.
- 10:28They get the top dollars or whatever the case might be. They get some dollars or whatever it is.
- 10:35But they, you know, sit there and say, you know what, let me listen to what
- 10:39the destiny 2 fans want and many of them have said content content content,
- 10:46i mean you know good storylines i mean the i remember the last time i put a
- 10:52lot of work you know with all the respect was during the uh wish queen and all
- 10:55that good stuff the life fall thing yeah that that may uh i i just went to this
- 11:02map i mean this this world and there was this, you know,
- 11:06tall dude and some other dude and a tall dude was kind of corny.
- 11:09I forgot what's the name of the people.
- 11:11Very glowy, whatever it is, and there's surfboards. I'm like,
- 11:15again, I'm going to say this.
- 11:17I'm a hardcore casual Destiny 2 fan.
- 11:21Oh, I was. You know, we're honest. Again, I'm just going to be straight up here,
- 11:24but I just felt like I needed to say something about Destiny 2 because, again, Again,
- 11:30if this game somewhere did something, did something,
- 11:37you know, the fans would just stay there and you would have a kind of a model
- 11:42of Call of Duty that, again, even in Call of Duty, you could crap on Call of Duty.
- 11:46You know, Call of Duty, I'm not a big fan of Call of Duty.
- 11:49You know, I'm more like a Battlefield type of person. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:53You know, because I came from the old school.
- 11:55I came from the old school. I did say BS2, the greatest council of all time. I did say that, right?
- 12:03But the fact is this, that PS2 in itself, there was a game called SoCon.
- 12:08So, you know, so you get the chance. I'm more like, hey, hands on,
- 12:11you know, boots on the ground type of deal.
- 12:13And Destiny 2 could have been something where you have this model that people
- 12:18come back every year, like a season, like something, something.
- 12:22You know, I know people say, well, David, you know, they had seasonal package,
- 12:25whatever, expansion, so on and so forth.
- 12:28But again, there's something that comes to where you can create something small but different.
- 12:35You don't have to go all crazy and tell people, hey, well, if you want to play
- 12:39the latest and the greatest, you got to spend an expansion for $30.
- 12:44You know, that's what every year. I know that the consensus was that,
- 12:49oh, well, you could be spending $60 on Call of Duty every year.
- 12:52But again, if you look at Call of Duty, the maps, all that, you know,
- 12:57again, even if I'm not a big fan of the Call of Duty like that anymore,
- 13:00but the fact that people went back because there was something,
- 13:03there was something, you know what I'm saying? There was something.
- 13:07Yes, I commend the expansion and the campaign and whatever, but what came more after that?
- 13:13What, you know, more strikes, perhaps, more raids? Sure.
- 13:17Shout out to the raid plays out there. My guardians.
- 13:20More of this. more multiplayer maps i mean
- 13:23i guess the multiplayer map somebody forgot to keep
- 13:26that going i had fun on multiplayer the fact
- 13:29that destiny wherever you go there's always this reward there's always this
- 13:33thing to do there's always something came out of it the storyline for the most
- 13:38part top notch the characters top notch you know people ask me which my favorite
- 13:44characters and so on what was it the grifter,
- 13:47All right, all right, all right, here's the good name. You know,
- 13:51claim that boat, whatever it is. I'm sorry. Hey, listen.
- 13:55It's on my mind. I don't want people to be like, is this guy just jumping on
- 13:59the bandwagon and talking about Destiny 2? No.
- 14:02Just trust me. I got people that will vouch for me that, hey,
- 14:06I was putting work on Destiny 2. A lot of work.
- 14:10Because it was my go-to game.
- 14:12It was my escape.
- 14:15Like, nothing matters to me. whatever issues that had
- 14:17in life destiny was
- 14:21that word like you played the sound you you know
- 14:25the orchestra the music all that the storyline the fact that destiny 2 was one
- 14:32of those few games that whichever the character is what they call the npcs yeah
- 14:40you relate you want to talk to them.
- 14:42But, okay, that's what happened when you was what?
- 14:45And your sister what? And your brother what? And your father this what?
- 14:49You know, and that person became a queen. And, you know, I'm just saying,
- 14:54Sabathone, all that, you know, all that.
- 14:57Gambit, that's the move for the grifter. The grifter? Yes.
- 15:01All right, all right, all right. I'm going to flavor corn. Hey,
- 15:05baby. You already know. But the fact is this.
- 15:09Destiny had a charm to it. A charm to it that you like on.
- 15:14And for some reason, and this is just me. I'm in New York. You know what I mean? New York City.
- 15:21And for some reason, when it's fall time, I get this sense of destiny because
- 15:27I, to me, autumn is the most vibrant,
- 15:31I can not say the most vibrant season
- 15:34to me with the colors of the leaves falling and all that good stuff.
- 15:38And it, to me, it was like, Destiny was just this vibrant game that behind it,
- 15:43there's going to be a dark story with this, you know, the story behind the light,
- 15:47the dark, the ghost, the ghost.
- 15:50What's his name? The guy that got killed, Clyde, Clyde, Clyde 6,
- 15:53whatever, K6 or whatever the cage might be. That was a sad story.
- 15:57I think he gets, he comes back. I don't know. I know there was something going on.
- 16:01And again, this is just me, Destiny, in a nutshell that sadly,
- 16:06when I started to kind of break apart a little bit, I mean, between playing
- 16:11the game, because, you know, I get caught up with all the games,
- 16:13obviously, when I come back to Destiny,
- 16:16it's like, it's a little bit overwhelming.
- 16:18And I think that that's one of the things that I
- 16:21always remember with Destiny that it was
- 16:24hard for new players to come in because the
- 16:27other thing too is that you know the Destiny 2 for
- 16:30the most part there's certain parts that became free but in
- 16:33order to play Destiny it became like well you still got
- 16:36to spend money on these expansion and so
- 16:38on and so forth see they never got that right
- 16:41destiny to me and again
- 16:45and i could get it because i think uh the
- 16:49other game that a lot of people play that kind of compare destiny and
- 16:52another beautiful game and crazy it's a free game which is warframe but it's
- 16:58still a thing compared to destiny 2 i'm just saying but the fact that you know
- 17:03game like warframe people get overwhelming but once you start getting the mechanics
- 17:07of this and what's the concept, then you could understand.
- 17:12My understanding at Destiny was not that type of game.
- 17:15And even me, as someone who understand Destiny and play Destiny for so much
- 17:21that when I log on to Destiny, you'll be like.
- 17:26You get a little bit overwhelmed. Destiny is a beautiful game.
- 17:30Destiny 2 was a beautiful game.
- 17:33But just like Astro Cross that the other day, he's like, and I think that he
- 17:38did the video that kind of give people the hope that perhaps maybe it's all bruised.
- 17:45And then when you log on to June 9th, you get a logo that says D3.
- 17:50That'll be funny. That'll be crazy. that would be one of the best marketing
- 17:54thing because you know you kind of get in a sense of a lot of these voice actors
- 17:58that coming up that would you know that voice uh some of the characters on destiny
- 18:032 talking about all in unison about this that and that and that and that you'd be like,
- 18:09but i don't want to give myself a lot of hope no i would give other players hope it is what it is.
- 18:20If this is the end of Destiny 2, then it's the end of Destiny 2.
- 18:24Would I try to join the bandwagon on June 9th, you know, for the first time
- 18:31in months to play Destiny 2? Why not?
- 18:35Why not? Let me get live on there and do a little bit of thing. I don't know.
- 18:40I'll say, why not? Again, I did enjoy Destiny 2.
- 18:44It is this podcast and it's up. It's a little bit of, how can I say,
- 18:50It's a little love letter. At the same time, it's not.
- 18:54It's kind of like disappointing, sincerely, disappointment.
- 18:59Am I a little bit disappointed to the way this game is going to whatever it is? Absolutely.
- 19:06Because even if eventually I wanted to go back to Destiny 2,
- 19:11but there was something that when you log on, you felt like it.
- 19:16You felt like the passion was not there.
- 19:18You felt like it. You know, you hear some of these developers in Bungie and
- 19:21just you could tell that, damn, they're doing something different.
- 19:25And, you know, when Marathon came out, you know, came out, you felt that it
- 19:29was something different.
- 19:31And I could see, ah, OK, you guys put more work on this. I get it. I get it. I get it.
- 19:38But always remember who put you on the map, Bungie. Now, yes,
- 19:43you could go back to Halo.
- 19:45For those people out there You know They created the Halo games All the way
- 19:49to my understanding Halo 3 and Breach Breach, whatever it is,
- 19:56But your brainchild was destiny too Even from the day of Halo Imagine this,
- 20:02What an irony And what a sad way,
- 20:06This is how life comes You're doing the Halo And you lost the passion for it
- 20:11Because you wanted to create destiny And historically, what you do,
- 20:15you created your brainchild, your beautiful child of destiny,
- 20:21destiny one, destiny two, and you lose love of it. And then you create marathon.
- 20:27Now, destiny got you where you are.
- 20:32Don't forget that, Bungie. Do not forget that.
- 20:37Hopefully, Marathon will work out that, you know, you'll get some money to perhaps
- 20:42decide to make a Halo Destiny 3.
- 20:46But anyways, my folks, feel free to hit the like button, which I did not say that.
- 20:51I just was running on some adrenaline and some emotions here to make this beautiful podcast.
- 20:56Once again, the Deconstructed Topics podcast. Follow my YouTube.
- 21:01I'm all over the Spotify, Apple's, and all that good stuff. Shout out to Astro
- 21:04Cross, King Goliath, Dado, and all those players out there that put in the work,
- 21:09still put in the work, and still talking about destiny because, hey, listen, it's hard.
- 21:14It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
- 21:21All right, let's make it happen. And I'm out of here. Peace. Take care.
- 21:27Stay vigilant, my guardians. Stay legendary, my guardians. Let's go.
