- 0:00Speaker 1: Okie doke, Sean. No Dante Moore for the game on Saturday.
- 0:03Speaker 1: That made Rob Arridge sleep better last night.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and now we'll find out what direction they go.
- 0:10Speaker 2: They can kind of keep that all the way up.
- 0:12Speaker 2: But I would think Thomas has the edge to get
- 0:15Speaker 2: the start over Raiola, just the way he finished and
- 0:19Speaker 2: just his time in the program there. And we'll see
- 0:23Speaker 2: where they go with that. But I imagine they're going
- 0:24Speaker 2: to keep that pretty close to the vest. Who will
- 0:26Speaker 2: get the start? quarterback but uh no no suspense with
- 0:32Speaker 2: the dante moore um situation as far as you know
- 0:35Speaker 2: maybe they could have kept him on that report saying
- 0:37Speaker 2: he you know he is questionable probable or doubtful uh
- 0:41Speaker 2: but he he's out i mean they're the suspense is
- 0:44Speaker 2: over on a wednesday night at.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Seven o'clock so you're talking about brock thomas dylan raiola
- 0:49Speaker 1: is not the backup anymore brock thomas is the backup
- 0:51Speaker 1: now it doesn't mean that dylan won't get in there
- 0:53Speaker 1: if thomas has problems but Against Nebraska, Dylan Raiola is
- 0:57Speaker 1: not a good fit, and Dan Lanning also knows that
- 1:00Speaker 1: Matt Rule knows exactly what Dylan Raiola's weaknesses are, exactly
- 1:03Speaker 1: where his Achilles tendon is, and they'll take very good
- 1:06Speaker 1: advantage of that. But Brock Thomas is a Division II-level quarterback.
- 1:09Speaker 1: He's 5'11, 180 pounds. He's been in the program three,
- 1:13Speaker 1: four years. His dad played there, and that's nice, but
- 1:17Speaker 1: this guy wouldn't play for any other Big Ten team,
- 1:20Speaker 1: any other quality Big Ten team at this stage.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and that's how your third quarterback is
- 1:25Speaker 2: going to be for a lot of teams now in
- 1:27Speaker 2: the NIL era. You can't really afford to stockpile a
- 1:30Speaker 2: lot of quarterbacks. I mean, Nebraska is in a rare
- 1:32Speaker 2: situation where they have three that have played and started
- 1:36Speaker 2: powerful games. But most are not going to have that,
- 1:39Speaker 2: and your third guy is going to look a lot
- 1:41Speaker 2: like Brock Thomas here and his type of background. I
- 1:45Speaker 2: think if you're Oregon, you're just telling this guy, look,
- 1:48Speaker 2: manage the game well. Don't turn it over. We're going
- 1:51Speaker 2: to set you up with some easy throws, easy reads.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And our defense is good enough to win us a
- 1:59Speaker 2: lot of games. You know they're going to have to
- 2:01Speaker 2: keep it fairly simple with him in the game at quarterback. Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Now they have three good receivers. In fact, three elite receivers.
- 2:09Speaker 1: DeCorey and Moore, Messiah Hampton, and Evan Stewart. And it
- 2:12Speaker 1: was Moore on Monday who said, we are going away
- 2:15Speaker 1: from process orientation as an offense. to results orientation as
- 2:20Speaker 1: an offense. What exactly does that mean in your mind?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and Evan Stewart also listed on that injury report,
- 2:26Speaker 2: so that's something to keep tabs on for Oregon. But
- 2:32Speaker 2: I don't know what that means.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Are we all results oriented?
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of one of those ones like, what
- 2:40Speaker 2: did he mean by that? But look, there's a lot
- 2:42Speaker 2: of money on this roster. There's a lot of pressure
- 2:45Speaker 2: on Joel Klatt in the offseason said he made this
- 2:50Speaker 2: proclamation that it's one of the best rosters he's seen,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and it's the best roster in college football. It kind
- 2:59Speaker 2: of reminds me of last year when Nebraska went to
- 3:01Speaker 2: Penn State. They were underachieving at a much lower level
- 3:06Speaker 2: than what Oregon is right now, but they had a
- 3:09Speaker 2: good roster. They almost beat Indiana the week before Nebraska.
- 3:13Speaker 2: They should have beat them. and they put it together
- 3:15Speaker 2: against Nebraska and actually played really well down the stretch.
- 3:19Speaker 2: If you're the Huskers, that's what you hope doesn't happen.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You know what Oregon decides to put it together, and
- 3:23Speaker 2: they figure out a formula to start winning games here
- 3:27Speaker 2: because obviously their loss last week was only a two-point loss,
- 3:30Speaker 2: but it felt much worse just with how things played out.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, seven turnovers. They just looked dreadful last week. It's
- 3:37Speaker 1: as if they'd never played football. But their defensive line
- 3:40Speaker 1: still has a lot of really, really high-caliber individuals.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You're right.
- 3:43Speaker 1: If they can get it together, it could be tough
- 3:45Speaker 1: for Nebraska. All right, Sean, we've got the keys to
- 3:48Speaker 1: the game from you tomorrow and, of course, the Husker
- 3:50Speaker 1: Online pregame show at 6 o'clock tomorrow night at 6
- 3:53Speaker 1: right here on 1110 KFAB.
