- 0:01Speaker 1: The Twitter. Smart fans will still argue about it, like, oh,
- 0:03Speaker 1: it was approved, it was this, it was both. It
- 0:05Speaker 1: was approved that it wasn't. Yeah, it was approved to
- 0:09Speaker 1: a degree. And my instincts told me, like, I'm not
- 0:14Speaker 1: saying anything too bad. He can't if he's gonna be
- 0:17Speaker 1: mad at me, he's gonna be fucking.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Mad at me, right and you're leaving anyway. It's fine,
- 0:20Speaker 2: and this is what he told me to do.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But it's not like, oh, I'm mad at you and
- 0:24Speaker 1: you're just straight up fired. Although I did think maybe
- 0:27Speaker 1: there was a possibility of.
- 0:28Speaker 3: That, Oh, what's your Story?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Don't you day? Be sour CP for Stoppany.
- 0:42Speaker 4: And Welcome to What's Your Story with Steph McMahon, a
- 0:52Speaker 4: WWE and Fanatics original production.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I haven't been to Chicago house in a while. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: was there for a few weeks, so I vacuumed and
- 1:04Speaker 1: I emptied out the vacuum into the dumpster, and it
- 1:09Speaker 1: was just like I had a moment where I was
- 1:12Speaker 1: just like I wanted to like reach in and say it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, just because there's the smell everything, you know.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting it. I just dumped it and I
- 1:22Speaker 1: just saw nothing.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, I found one of our dogs.
- 1:32Speaker 3: We had put like the bowls and collar and stuff
- 1:36Speaker 3: in this closet and kind of forgot about it. And
- 1:39Speaker 3: I found it a couple of years later, and I.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Had the same kind of thing because it was buried
- 1:45Speaker 2: under some stuff and I was moving around.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh I hid like like all the stuff, like because
- 1:51Speaker 1: I got there before April did, and so I was
- 1:53Speaker 1: just like, nope, hiding. I just hid everything from you. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: like I just got everything out of the way.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Did you do the paw prints?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah we got yeah. Yeah, we got like in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: clay or whatever.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And you know you cannot have jewelry. Oh yeah, because
- 2:10Speaker 2: he was your baby.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yes he was. I miss him.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I bet you do. He's waiting for you. He is
- 2:18Speaker 2: waiting to terrorize you.
- 2:21Speaker 1: He still does. There's various ways he still terrorizes the
- 2:24Speaker 1: both of us.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Do you think you might ever get another?
- 2:28Speaker 1: No?
- 2:29Speaker 3: No, I probably would, but she won't too heartbreaking.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah, she said never, never again.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And I understand, Yeah, of course.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And that's fine because we you know, like honestly, like
- 2:41Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's a silver lining because I would
- 2:43Speaker 1: rather have him. But we got married, like and we
- 2:48Speaker 1: got Larry maybe eight months twelve months after we haven't
- 2:53Speaker 1: been able to travel or anything. So right, that's what
- 2:55Speaker 1: we've been doing the last two months.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, traveling. Where's your favorite place? She went, Oh, ConA, Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Easily, it's like my favorite place on earth side from Chicago,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I think.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And have you been there before?
- 3:10Speaker 1: ConA is where we did our honeymoon.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Okay, so it was like, oh, that's great, like return.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yeah, twelve years later, as we do. Years later.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We spent our honeymoon half of our honeymoon in Hawaii,
- 3:28Speaker 2: but Maui and we had what we thought was like
- 3:31Speaker 2: a well it was a private house. We rented a house,
- 3:33Speaker 2: favorite story. But what I didn't know is that the
- 3:36Speaker 2: beaches are not private, even if said house is on
- 3:40Speaker 2: a private beach.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Have I told this on the pod? I have? Okay,
- 3:43Speaker 3: So the on the nick con pod? Oh, on the
- 3:46Speaker 3: Nick Pod. Yeah.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So there's Paul and all his glory waking up, flings
- 3:55Speaker 2: the shades back steps outside, looking at the beautiful ocean,
- 3:58Speaker 2: and that this snorkel comes up. But this person comes
- 4:03Speaker 2: up literally out of the water right in front of
- 4:05Speaker 2: us and you know, quite jarring obviously as your full
- 4:09Speaker 2: Monty nice.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so there was that.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it sounds like a familiar story.
- 4:18Speaker 2: But congratulations again on your on your victory. Yes, hello,
- 4:24Speaker 2: talk about it, comeback.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Fifteen years later right in the same venue. S Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 3: I means so much to.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You, you know, I that's I'm flabbergasted. Yeah at that,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know, like just how we drew it up, just
- 4:40Speaker 1: how we planned it.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, because that's how our business works.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, what a coincidence. Yeah, people say that there's
- 4:47Speaker 1: no suitsing as a coincidence, but that's that's pretty remarkable.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 4:52Speaker 2: They also say lightning doesn't strike twice in the same spot, right.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's what they said. Yeah, I mean it was like
- 4:57Speaker 1: a week apart. If we're really going to split, I
- 5:00Speaker 1: think you know, it wasn't to the day.
- 5:03Speaker 3: To the day specifically, but it was a lot of.
- 5:05Speaker 1: A lot of similar history doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's beautiful.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That's what I said in a promo.
- 5:16Speaker 3: A wise man once said.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I stole it from somebody.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Well, yeah, as all great things are. Yeah, nothing nothing
- 5:23Speaker 2: is original anymore, they say, Right, you think it is
- 5:28Speaker 2: what's old is new?
- 5:29Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:30Speaker 3: Is that is that us?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:33Speaker 3: Than you are?
- 5:33Speaker 1: But are you?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't think so. Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I turned fifteen September. Okay, yeah, I am.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Just by a little bit, Yeah, I am.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm curious, you know, your perspective, and this is not
- 5:51Speaker 2: as much like a wrestling pod in terms of storyline
- 5:55Speaker 2: or matches or that kind of thing.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Great to talk about if you would like to, but
- 5:58Speaker 3: it's more about I don't want to tell about wrestling.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It's more about you, you know, and your story and
- 6:06Speaker 2: how you got to be where you are and you
- 6:09Speaker 2: know some of the trials and tribulations, if you will,
- 6:13Speaker 2: your greatest lessons, you know, it's things like that, because
- 6:19Speaker 2: you know, life is life and it's beautiful and it's
- 6:24Speaker 2: so many different things for everyone, right, and if you
- 6:27Speaker 2: live long enough, it's going to knock you around and
- 6:31Speaker 2: how do you deal with it when it does? So
- 6:35Speaker 2: that's that's kind of the goal anyways, to help give tools,
- 6:39Speaker 2: you know, to people who are listening and hopefully engage
- 6:42Speaker 2: in interesting conversation, which you know people are going to
- 6:46Speaker 2: be curious, I think, right, because you and I are
- 6:49Speaker 2: have weird history where our paths weren't necessarily totally intertwined,
- 6:54Speaker 2: but kind of, you know, along the same lines certain parts.
- 7:01Speaker 2: But it is funny because I was kind of always
- 7:03Speaker 2: on the outside of of what was happening, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 2: But I heard a lot of things, right, So I'm
- 7:11Speaker 2: I'm but to start a little lighter.
- 7:13Speaker 3: You know, this is.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Now and I've heard some some talent on social media
- 7:17Speaker 2: right there talking about, Oh, now you're doing the very
- 7:19Speaker 2: thing that you said that you hated. You know that,
- 7:21Speaker 2: Oh the veteran comes back, and oh he's going to
- 7:24Speaker 2: steal the title from Sammy, you know, and oh.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I won, I won the title.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Hell yeah, fair and Square, far and square. Yeah, Yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 2: there's there's no doubt about it. You could watch the replay.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I beat that, I beat that forty one year old
- 7:40Speaker 1: youngster fair and square in the middle of the ring. Uh,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm guilty of doing what I What was it?
- 7:52Speaker 3: Well, like, what are some of the quotes?
- 7:55Speaker 1: Well, because you.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Show the infograph, let's go.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Graphs and graphic.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's you don't even know where you found some
- 8:03Speaker 3: people talking ship. Well that's what you've got. Yeah, we
- 8:08Speaker 3: should show a good word.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm in the ship talk business, so no kidding.
- 8:13Speaker 5: So like for example, Logan Paul said twenty fourteen CM
- 8:18Speaker 5: punk part timers are the problem. Twenty twenty six CM
- 8:22Speaker 5: punk he did say this, hold my PEPSI, let's show him.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Where did you find this graphic online?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 8:29Speaker 2: But like do you know exactly where? It's very tiny print.
- 8:33Speaker 2: By the way, I don't know if you need is
- 8:34Speaker 2: I have contact?
- 8:35Speaker 1: First of all, First of all, I look great.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Of course you do. Of course you do. Which I
- 8:41Speaker 3: wanted to to ask you about.
- 8:43Speaker 1: This is this is the This is the This is
- 8:46Speaker 1: why I don't fuck with social media. These are this
- 8:50Speaker 1: is like AI generated. These are fake quotes, are they? Yes?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Seth did not tweet this, Becky did not tweet this.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Oh see, That's why I was asking.
- 8:58Speaker 1: This is all these are. This is a double edged
- 9:02Speaker 1: sword about I think most people in our business, but
- 9:05Speaker 1: especially me. Yeah, and I do not say this lightly.
- 9:10Speaker 1: These are mentally ill people who I mean, I couldn't
- 9:15Speaker 1: imagine making up fake tweets that somebody else said to try.
- 9:20Speaker 1: But the I think the problem, and it's not just
- 9:23Speaker 1: in our business. I think it's it's a societal thing.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Is people will instantly see that and then.
- 9:28Speaker 3: They believe it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: They believe it. Yeah, And I don't know how to
- 9:32Speaker 1: change people's minds about that, which is why I lean
- 9:36Speaker 1: into I don't care about changing anybody's mind about that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I'm in a business of toying with people's emotions. So
- 9:44Speaker 1: if somebody's going to read that and they're going to
- 9:45Speaker 1: believe it, that helps me in.
- 9:48Speaker 3: A way, you know, of course.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But I also there's also Phil who walks through parking
- 9:55Speaker 1: lots with his wife, who has his head on a
- 9:56Speaker 1: swivel because those people are out there, you know, right,
- 10:02Speaker 1: it's uh, it's interesting. Yeah. Uh.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Do you know if there's a death threat against you,
- 10:09Speaker 2: the FBI has to call you and notify you.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yes, I know that. I know that. I know that.
- 10:15Speaker 1: You both know that. Yeah. I think I think they're
- 10:19Speaker 1: pretty slack on that too. By the way, I don't
- 10:21Speaker 1: think they're catching all of them.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Probably not, yeah, probably.
- 10:24Speaker 1: There's there's been a few phone calls.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yes, as Yeah, that's always comfortable.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 2: But and then so you're aware, great, and what happens
- 10:35Speaker 2: for nothing? Yeah, and then it's like, well, we don't
- 10:39Speaker 2: think they're a threat because they live in wherever they
- 10:42Speaker 2: live and don't travel often or whatever.
- 10:44Speaker 3: The intel is great.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it takes one time.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah right, comfortable, haven't slept since Yeah, yeah, so I'm glad.
- 10:55Speaker 3: We addressed that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We've all been there before, when you're tired and there's
- 11:02Speaker 2: something healthy in your fridge that you should be making,
- 11:05Speaker 2: but you just don't have it in you. For most people,
- 11:08Speaker 2: eating healthy isn't a will power problem. It's a setup problem.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Until we found Factor.

- 12:36Speaker 2: So do you look at any social media at all?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Like TikTok or do you have any I.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Don't have a TikTok. I abandon Twitter.
- 12:46Speaker 3: And how much better is it with fur years ago?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Oh it's so much better, right, I'm self Admittedly I
- 12:52Speaker 1: am on my phone too much.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Sure, we all are, right.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But I'm my wife will asks me a question and
- 13:00Speaker 1: then I start googling, right, yeah, you know, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 1: Oh it's the actor. It's whatever. I have Instagram to
- 13:08Speaker 1: look at dogs and what else is in my feed? Food?
- 13:13Speaker 1: Food everywhere?
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Oh man, Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 3: What's your favorite food? Chicago pizza?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, But like I dessert, it's a it's
- 13:27Speaker 1: a plethora of sending April, like look at these pancakes, Oh,
- 13:32Speaker 1: look at these waffles?
- 13:33Speaker 2: And what do you like on your pancakes and waffles
- 13:36Speaker 2: anything you don't have a I will not discriminate.
- 13:39Speaker 1: No, it's more of the experience. It's more of like
- 13:43Speaker 1: I wouldn't eat them by myself.
- 13:45Speaker 3: It's it's shared, it's joy.
- 13:47Speaker 1: It's me and April like planning to.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the junk food because she does not look
- 13:54Speaker 3: like she I know. I think it's said it's like
- 13:58Speaker 3: a treat. She calls it a treat meal and not
- 14:01Speaker 3: a cheap meal.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. But like I in Hawaii recently, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: went overboard to where it got bad. I arrived on
- 14:14Speaker 1: the island two hundred and four pounds and I left
- 14:17Speaker 1: two hundred and twenty four pounds.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, that's impressive. And you were there? How long?
- 14:24Speaker 1: I was there for? Seven days? Really?
- 14:26Speaker 3: That's talented? Actually yeah? And how long did it take
- 14:30Speaker 3: you to get back or are you.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Back five days?
- 14:33Speaker 3: Five days? Yeah, it's not a water talent.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Came back in locked in.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Because you and do you have a new Do you
- 14:38Speaker 2: talk about your trainer at all?
- 14:41Speaker 1: I haven't really spoken about Jay publicly, but I would
- 14:46Speaker 1: love to.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Great, go for it, because you look fantastic. You certainly
- 14:49Speaker 2: don't look like you packed on.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So six weeks before WrestleMania, and I can't really tell you,
- 14:58Speaker 1: like what said it in motion? I know, I always
- 15:00Speaker 1: see Chad Gable posting his workouts and you know it's
- 15:04Speaker 1: programmed by Jay Ferugia and all this other stuff. And
- 15:07Speaker 1: it was just motivated to go into WrestleMania looking physically different,
- 15:16Speaker 1: looking like, oh wow, okay, he really busted his ass.
- 15:19Speaker 1: That was my only goal. It wasn't a weight, it
- 15:21Speaker 1: wasn't a I need six pack. I to do this whatever.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I called up Jay and he was like, I wish
- 15:28Speaker 1: you would have got to me sooner. Man, we only
- 15:30Speaker 1: got six weeks. You know. He's like, but if you
- 15:33Speaker 1: listen to me and you do what I say and
- 15:35Speaker 1: you eat what I tell you to eat, He's like,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I think we can do some damage. And we did.
- 15:40Speaker 1: We did some damage. Like I think I showed up
- 15:42Speaker 1: in Mania. I didn't say that was in the best
- 15:46Speaker 1: shape in my career because I will always look back
- 15:48Speaker 1: at like when I was twenty six and I originally
- 15:51Speaker 1: tried to get the job in the first place, right,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know, because my idea back then was they're gonna say, uh,
- 15:57Speaker 1: look at his body. That's that's the that's the one
- 16:01Speaker 1: negative they can they can say, so I really busted
- 16:05Speaker 1: my ass so they couldn't say no. Then I got
- 16:07Speaker 1: a job, right, So I really kind of just had
- 16:11Speaker 1: that motivation. It just looked different showing up to WrestleMania,
- 16:15Speaker 1: but obviously to me, it's a it's a lifestyle change.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It's I told Jay, I was like, the only thing
- 16:22Speaker 1: I've never done is like I've counted calories and all
- 16:26Speaker 1: that other stuff, but like the big difference is I've
- 16:29Speaker 1: never weighed food.
- 16:30Speaker 3: So like I bought scales.
- 16:33Speaker 1: So six weeks prior to Mania, I bought food scale,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I bought a rice maker, I bought a freezer. And
- 16:39Speaker 1: it was just like I eat meals that have maybe
- 16:44Speaker 1: three ingredients. Yeah, it's like white rice ninety nine one
- 16:49Speaker 1: lean ground venison.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And salt, no fat.
- 16:54Speaker 1: That varies. Like every morning, I take a mirror selfie,
- 16:59Speaker 1: I take my temperature and my weight and I send
- 17:01Speaker 1: it to Jay and then and then he will tell me.
- 17:05Speaker 1: He will tell me protein, carbs, and fat to eat.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's very specific.
- 17:11Speaker 1: It's very specific. Yeah, And you know, and there's obviously
- 17:15Speaker 1: new different things that with his approach that I'm always
- 17:19Speaker 1: curious about I just, oh, well, why why is this
- 17:22Speaker 1: something about thyroid? Like he wants my temperature like forty
- 17:25Speaker 1: minutes after meals and when I wake up to be
- 17:28Speaker 1: ninety eight degrees.
- 17:29Speaker 3: You know, I've never heard of the temperatureize.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a So if your thyroid is I guess
- 17:36Speaker 1: operating optimally, you're you're burning burning more calories, your body
- 17:41Speaker 1: temperatures higher. I fall short on that one a little
- 17:44Speaker 1: bit sometimes.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Do you have a thyroid issue?
- 17:48Speaker 1: No, No, I'm talking like I'm I'm like ninety seven
- 17:54Speaker 1: point eight eight and I'm like, oh, I'm not.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm like, because that's of course. Yeah, ah, but yeah,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I just I really just kind of changed the way
- 18:07Speaker 1: I ate and just just really dialed in, buckled down.
- 18:13Speaker 3: And do you like it?
- 18:14Speaker 1: I love it?
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah absolutely. I did tell Jay to start. I was like,
- 18:21Speaker 1: I will get obsessive with this, and I don't want
- 18:24Speaker 1: that to affect my relationship, right, like, yeah, because I
- 18:30Speaker 1: will get crabby, and I like, I'm I would rather
- 18:34Speaker 1: just eat a donut and shut the fuck up than not,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you know, not the not say something snippy that doesn't
- 18:42Speaker 1: mean anything, right, just because because you know what I mean,
- 18:46Speaker 1: but no, I like, uh we it was her birthday,
- 18:51Speaker 1: I think, so like two weeks after I started with Jay,
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm all dialed in for two weeks straight. And then
- 18:58Speaker 1: it was Abel's birthday and I told him. I was like, hey,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm taking my wife out the dinner, like, I'm just
- 19:05Speaker 1: letting you know. And he was like, well try to
- 19:08Speaker 1: you know. Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I was like, thanks, still just letting you know.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And then most recently, obviously Hawaii was it was a shipwreck,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but you had a blast, I mean, twelve year anniversary, Yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: thank you very much. Yeah, I just yeah, I went
- 19:26Speaker 1: for it, and I just it's a reset after Mania
- 19:29Speaker 1: and all the things I accomplished for the last two years. Really,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I just I just had fun. But more recently, like
- 19:37Speaker 1: I was on my way home from the All State
- 19:40Speaker 1: Monday night and a text me She's like, or did
- 19:44Speaker 1: your pizza? And I don't argue with my wife.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yeah that's also great.
- 19:50Speaker 1: We're having a pizza party. So I had a pizza party.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And then you know, the next day, just back on
- 19:54Speaker 1: dial back in.
- 19:55Speaker 2: But that's important too, because you need a break. Yeah right,
- 19:58Speaker 2: I don' break.
- 20:01Speaker 1: But it's so fascinating because I'm so dialed in, and
- 20:03Speaker 1: Jay is such a genius with the programming and the
- 20:07Speaker 1: diet and everything. I can literally feel and he's very
- 20:11Speaker 1: every day how do you feel? Right? You got to
- 20:13Speaker 1: tell me like do you feel sluggish? How's your energy
- 20:16Speaker 1: in the gym? Like you know, And then after I
- 20:20Speaker 1: think the lowest carb day he's had me on is
- 20:23Speaker 1: like one fifty, which still to me feels like a lot, right,
- 20:28Speaker 1: And I'm.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Eating, so you feel like you're eating a lot your
- 20:31Speaker 3: I mean, I'm yeah, you don't feel like you're starving.
- 20:33Speaker 1: April loves it too, because I'm I'm cooking like every day,
- 20:38Speaker 1: not every day, maybe every two three days, but I
- 20:40Speaker 1: got the oven going, I got the stove top going,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I got sweet potatoes, and the air fryers good. Yes,
- 20:47Speaker 1: And she's just like how it smells good all the time.
- 20:49Speaker 1: She's like, this is great. There's like a giant bucket
- 20:52Speaker 1: of grilled chicken in the fridge at all times, Like
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's just it's there and it's accessible, and she loves it.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And I've also dabbled with like a couple like you know,
- 21:00Speaker 1: like some Instagram recipes and stuff like that that I
- 21:02Speaker 1: see the influencers, right. I know my kids are big,
- 21:06Speaker 1: so I'm like, oh, you can make muffins with just
- 21:08Speaker 1: like pin peanut, but all right, I'll try that. I
- 21:11Speaker 1: bought the Ninja creamy.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Oh yes, yes, the healthy ice cream cream.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh she loves it.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah. I know this may need to be an investment.
- 21:21Speaker 1: It's worth it. It's worth it is. But I can
- 21:24Speaker 1: feel I can feel the difference, and I can feel
- 21:26Speaker 1: when okay, you know what, Yeah, today I am a
- 21:27Speaker 1: little sluggish. Okay, and then so then the next day
- 21:30Speaker 1: he'll he'll bump up the carbs or whatever.
- 21:32Speaker 2: And it's like it's a science. Does he have you
- 21:36Speaker 2: do wearables at all?
- 21:37Speaker 3: Like Aura ring or.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I mean I got this watch. That's that's the other thing.
- 21:42Speaker 1: It's just like I got to do ten thousands, at
- 21:44Speaker 1: least ten thousand steps a day, and I love walking anyway,
- 21:46Speaker 1: So I'm more like I'm city probably averaging, yeah, like
- 21:50Speaker 1: thirteen fifteen thousand steps a day heading into summer slim.
- 21:56Speaker 1: He's up the cardio, so that's kind of interesting. So
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'm seeing how that goes. And my schedule just got
- 22:02Speaker 1: haywire insane. I'm sure I just had two months off,
- 22:06Speaker 1: so I welcome it.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I'm looking for You're ready for it.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be a challenge, like eating on
- 22:10Speaker 1: the road and stuff like that. Like a poor Jackie
- 22:14Speaker 1: is doing my makeup and I got like a food
- 22:16Speaker 1: scale out and I'm like putting white rice on it.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I'm like measuring it and googling how many. Granted it's
- 22:23Speaker 1: it's kind of mental, but you.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Know she's been on her own journey. Yeah, yeah, jack
- 22:30Speaker 3: how much have you lost? How much have you lost?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Holy ship?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Good for you.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Yeah, the things that you're saying, like just when you
- 22:43Speaker 6: get lost in it, like lost in a crowd in
- 22:46Speaker 6: it and get fired again, like.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can't. I can't say enough about Jay,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you know, like he's he's changed. I think you can
- 23:03Speaker 1: see based on you.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Can you look fantastic?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and I but I it's harder for me to
- 23:09Speaker 1: see it. Sure, you know, like I'm always going to
- 23:11Speaker 1: go and yeah, you know, like I know I must
- 23:14Speaker 1: say this to April like twelve times a day, and
- 23:16Speaker 1: she's just always like.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Yeah, she looks like she's like.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Like rolls her eyes and stuff like that. But it's
- 23:24Speaker 1: just like the biggest changes is obviously like the diet
- 23:27Speaker 1: and the weighing the food, and like the volume of
- 23:30Speaker 1: things I do in the gym is so drastically.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Lower, really, oh lower.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Listen, Stephane. I started working out when I was about,
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know, fifteen or sixteen. It was because wrestlers
- 23:43Speaker 1: work out. I'm going to be a wrestler. I need
- 23:46Speaker 1: I need to work out. I would go to the
- 23:48Speaker 1: gym with my trainers and listen, everybody I've trained with
- 23:53Speaker 1: over the years is on every single drug in the world. Right,
- 23:58Speaker 1: They're throwing crazy way to around and I'm just trying
- 24:01Speaker 1: to like follow and like keep up, so like.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I can't lift that, Yeah, baffling to me so much.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You know, so like dialing stuff down. So like, my
- 24:11Speaker 1: workouts have always just been I learned to work out
- 24:13Speaker 1: by getting like Flex magazine, Muslumfitness and essentially and.
- 24:18Speaker 3: There was no internet reading Dorian Yates these bodybuilder workouts,
- 24:25Speaker 3: you know, j Cutler.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh, I'm going to do sixteen sets on you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: each sizes. I'm going to do eight exercises. There are
- 24:34Speaker 1: gonna be four sets each twelve to fifteen raps. And
- 24:37Speaker 1: it's just like today I'm in the headquarters gym and
- 24:43Speaker 1: I look and it's program doing legs and pendulum squat
- 24:46Speaker 1: one set, and I'm like, really, and with somebody with
- 24:51Speaker 1: my work ethic, it's actually really hard.
- 24:53Speaker 2: I bet because you like the feeling of exhaustion, right,
- 24:58Speaker 2: Like I pushed myself to my limit.
- 24:59Speaker 1: To me, gym is my therapy. Yeah, Like, and I'm
- 25:03Speaker 1: so dialed in that it's the first thing I do.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I wake up and if it's not a fasted cardio day,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I eat, I go to the gym. I get it done.
- 25:12Speaker 1: That's my job. Yeah, I'm fortunate that at this age,
- 25:16Speaker 1: this stage of my career, like this is my job,
- 25:18Speaker 1: this is what I have to focus on. But yeah,
- 25:22Speaker 1: the volume of things that I do is like way down.
- 25:25Speaker 3: What about the cardio?
- 25:27Speaker 1: Uh so the cardio would just is.
- 25:30Speaker 3: It more for your heart or more for fat burning?
- 25:33Speaker 1: It's fat burning? Okay, yeah, my my cardio. I mean
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's it's kind of boring. But I also I'm the
- 25:41Speaker 1: guy that ran a marathon without training for it, so
- 25:44Speaker 1: I just love doing stupid stuff.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Did you get injured doing that?
- 25:48Speaker 1: No?
- 25:49Speaker 3: Really No.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I flew to Raw the next day and like wrestled
- 25:51Speaker 1: the twenty minute match on TV.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I would have too young whatever, that was.
- 25:57Speaker 1: My question, to be young. Oh you've you've never heard
- 26:00Speaker 1: this story.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I actually never heard this story.
- 26:02Speaker 1: This is a great story. My cardio, the fasted cardio
- 26:09Speaker 1: at least, but heading.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Up the summer.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Heading into summer sligh days, like I want you to
- 26:15Speaker 1: do like four fasted cardio days. And I was immediately like,
- 26:20Speaker 1: how am I going to do that with lifting too?
- 26:22Speaker 1: But it's an experiment. So a lot of the times
- 26:25Speaker 1: he wants me lifting three days on one cardio day
- 26:30Speaker 1: and then two days in a cardio day. But now
- 26:32Speaker 1: my cardio days are overlapping with days i'm lifting, and
- 26:35Speaker 1: now I'm going to be doing a lot of house shows, sorry,
- 26:37Speaker 1: live events.
- 26:39Speaker 3: So I've never I've never really learned that it's going
- 26:42Speaker 3: to be.
- 26:42Speaker 1: A lot of you know, trial and error, and it's
- 26:46Speaker 1: more challenging to eat on the road and everything else.
- 26:49Speaker 1: But anyway, yeah, so the marathon story. Yeah, I think
- 26:55Speaker 1: I told this on Nerdict Chris Hardwick's podcast, But this
- 26:58Speaker 1: you're talking like two thousand and eleven, so you'll probably
- 27:03Speaker 1: recall twenty eleven because I think you did message me.
- 27:07Speaker 1: My sister's father passed away and he was essentially my father. Right,
- 27:12Speaker 1: so when you hear me talk about my mom, I'm
- 27:15Speaker 1: not talking about my biological mom. I'm talking about the
- 27:18Speaker 1: wrong family, because they're the ones that essentially, when I
- 27:21Speaker 1: was fifteen, he would he was a school teacher. You'd
- 27:26Speaker 1: wake up and I just this kid's just on his
- 27:28Speaker 1: couch and bless his heart, he was just like you
- 27:34Speaker 1: know what I mean, like, you didn't throw me out.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He would just be like, just you know, take the
- 27:37Speaker 1: garbage out. And he would make me take him to
- 27:39Speaker 1: the gym because my gym was twenty four to seven,
- 27:41Speaker 1: like on Christmas morning and stuff like that, and I'd
- 27:43Speaker 1: have to, like five in the morning drive him to
- 27:45Speaker 1: the gym.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You didn't care.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yeah, So he passes away, and it just turned into
- 27:52Speaker 1: a thing where my one sister, Cassie, was like, I'm
- 27:54Speaker 1: going to run the Chicago Marathon for dad. She's like,
- 27:57Speaker 1: you want to do it with me? And I was like, oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It just so happened that this is twenty eleven, my
- 28:03Speaker 1: contract was expiring, and I was like, oh, you know what, yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 1: I can totally do it because I'm not going to
- 28:08Speaker 1: have a job because I'm leaving, right So yeah, So
- 28:12Speaker 1: famously what happens. So this is fifteen years ago, famously,
- 28:16Speaker 1: what happens. I resign, totally forget about the Yeah, I'll
- 28:20Speaker 1: do the marathon with you, right, that's a big one. Yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: it's a big one. And then one day I think
- 28:29Speaker 1: office tells me, hey, we're going to give you the
- 28:33Speaker 1: weekend off. Now I'm champ, you know what I mean.
- 28:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, part of the reason I wasn't going
- 28:38Speaker 1: to resign because I was already feeling pretty grizzled. You
- 28:40Speaker 1: just wanted to take a break. I just wanted to
- 28:43Speaker 1: take a break, just slow down. But then you know,
- 28:48Speaker 1: when opportunity comes, you know, you got to you got
- 28:51Speaker 1: to jump through that door. So this the conversation is
- 28:56Speaker 1: so great. Hey, we're gonna hey, my guy, We're going
- 28:57Speaker 1: to give you the weekend off. And I went, huh really, yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: we're gonna take you off the live events. Oh that's interesting. Cool. Yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 1: we're gonna send you to Australia to do the Nickelodeon
- 29:10Speaker 1: Kids Choice Awards. And I went, that's not that's not
- 29:17Speaker 1: all right? Okay, great, So no bumps traded for a
- 29:20Speaker 1: sixteen hour flight, you know, So of course they piggyback
- 29:25Speaker 1: like a meet and greet with this. So it's just
- 29:27Speaker 1: like land go, you know, like hello everybody you know,
- 29:29Speaker 1: oh blah blah blah. But I think, ironically, like do
- 29:33Speaker 1: you remember Indy she was at like, there's so many kids.
- 29:38Speaker 1: There's so many kids that have we we have hired
- 29:40Speaker 1: that are in the developmental system, run the main roster.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Now that'll be like, hey, this is a picture of Yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 1: yeah that's cool. So like that was a cool situation.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Do the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards next morning. Fly from Sydney,
- 29:57Speaker 1: I think, to LA to Chicago. So I'm getting into
- 30:01Speaker 1: Chicago like maybe Saturday night, I think. And I walk
- 30:07Speaker 1: in my house and my sister's there. Scares the shit
- 30:09Speaker 1: out of me. I'm not supposed to be there. And
- 30:13Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, what did you know? Like you when
- 30:15Speaker 1: you walk into a room and you're like, right, there's
- 30:17Speaker 1: somebody in this room. Yes, right, Friday thirteenth, right, uh.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And she's like I knew you'd forget. She's like the
- 30:26Speaker 1: marathons tomorrow and you told me I can stay at
- 30:28Speaker 1: your house because I'm just gonna walk over and start
- 30:31Speaker 1: the race. And I was like, oh yeah, cool, right,
- 30:35Speaker 1: And so so she's like, I'm going to go to
- 30:37Speaker 1: I'm going to go to bed, you know, like I
- 30:39Speaker 1: got to get up earlier and run. I was cool.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And then like I sat on the couch.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Does she remembered do I even have sneakers?
- 30:48Speaker 1: No? I was just like, bump. I walked out my
- 30:51Speaker 1: front door. I went to Walgreens. I bought bagels like
- 30:56Speaker 1: fruit snacks because I was like, I'll just eat these
- 30:58Speaker 1: while I'm running. A bunch of pean whatever, and you know, like,
- 31:02Speaker 1: and then I sat on my couch. I couldn't sleep
- 31:04Speaker 1: because I was wired from the trip. Yeah, bagels. And
- 31:11Speaker 1: then she wakes up. She walks out of the room
- 31:13Speaker 1: and she looks at me and she just goes, you're
- 31:15Speaker 1: not running the marathon. And I was like, hell, yeah.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Her friend dropped out. She was supposed to run it
- 31:21Speaker 1: with her. So I ran in her spot and with
- 31:24Speaker 1: her bib, and I was just like, yeah, we're doing this.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'm doing this whatever. I didn't train for it. I ran.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I loved running. I would run every city. It's normally
- 31:34Speaker 1: what we do, especially like overseas. That's how I saw things.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Oh I didn't know that, Oh yeah.
- 31:39Speaker 1: We go we go to Europe and stuff like that.
- 31:41Speaker 1: We me and my.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Sister, oh in general, yeah, okay.
- 31:45Speaker 1: So I was like, we're going to do this. This
- 31:48Speaker 1: is cool.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Did she come on the road with you often?
- 31:50Speaker 7: No?
- 31:51Speaker 1: No, Just like when I was overseas, I would go
- 31:53Speaker 1: run because I would look at architecture and just like
- 31:57Speaker 1: different stuff and parks and you know, and the race
- 32:01Speaker 1: started in my mind, We're going to run this together.
- 32:04Speaker 1: The race started in this bitch. She's gone like a
- 32:09Speaker 1: bat out of hell. I was just like, oh, okay,
- 32:15Speaker 1: unseasonably unseasonably warm October day in Chicago. It was like
- 32:20Speaker 1: eighty plus degrees, right. I run the first thirteen miles
- 32:25Speaker 1: and I'm fucking killing it. Yeah, it's the most I've
- 32:29Speaker 1: ever ran. I accidentally ran a half marathon one time
- 32:31Speaker 1: because I got lost and so I just would just
- 32:35Speaker 1: keep running. I was just like, I'm going to get
- 32:37Speaker 1: back to wherever. I gotta go faster if I just
- 32:39Speaker 1: keep running. And then you know, my app was like
- 32:41Speaker 1: half marathon. Shit cool. So thirteen miles, like my family's
- 32:46Speaker 1: waiting at like the thirteen mile marker, say hi to everybody.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I'm realized I'm wearing a really heavy sweatshirt and I
- 32:54Speaker 1: take it off and it had to have been like
- 32:56Speaker 1: twenty pounds.
- 32:57Speaker 3: It's soaked, but it must have felt great to get.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I took it off, and I'm like, I'm really yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: see you guys in another thirteen miles, you know, and
- 33:05Speaker 1: you did it? Start running again, and then all of
- 33:07Speaker 1: a sudden, it felt like I got shot. All of
- 33:11Speaker 1: a sudden, I cramp up, like oh God, So I
- 33:16Speaker 1: stop and I stretch a little bit and I tried
- 33:18Speaker 1: running again and it's just not going. And I take
- 33:20Speaker 1: a little bit more time. Now, I walk a little bit,
- 33:23Speaker 1: stretch more, trying to eat, drink whatever I can. But like,
- 33:27Speaker 1: I didn't train for this smer. Now my body's like
- 33:30Speaker 1: freaking down if you dumb, Yeah, yeah, But I'm like,
- 33:33Speaker 1: well I have to. I have to finish. I'm too
- 33:35Speaker 1: stubborn to I'm.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Not just from this far.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, stretching, walking, slowly, easing into it, get into a
- 33:42Speaker 1: nice rhythm at a nice pace, and I'm running and now, ladies,
- 33:47Speaker 1: forgive me.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Oh, I think I know what happens.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I have to ship.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yeah, this is what I thought. This is what I thought.
- 33:59Speaker 3: They say, you just go a lot of people do
- 34:03Speaker 3: I had a room.
- 34:04Speaker 1: This has got to be one of the time, I mean,
- 34:06Speaker 1: top twenty experiences of my life. Running this marathon was
- 34:09Speaker 1: so great. You run through the different neighborhoods of Chicago.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Strangers are rooting for you and cheering you on. People
- 34:18Speaker 1: are running up to you with this giant, industrial size
- 34:22Speaker 1: bowl full of pretzels. Their people are handed you encouraging you.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Like it was like a community.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was. It was magical. But because it
- 34:32Speaker 1: was so warm, by mile like fifteen through twenty, it
- 34:37Speaker 1: was like a war zone.
- 34:39Speaker 3: People were like, oh, everybody's having Oh.
- 34:45Speaker 1: There's people laying in kiddie pools full of ice. There's
- 34:50Speaker 1: like triage tents set up. People are like bleeding because
- 34:54Speaker 1: they just like fell and hit their head on the arb.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Like people are cramping up and fought like it's happening.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It's happened, and left and right, especially like the last
- 35:01Speaker 1: six miles. It was like a war zone. But I
- 35:05Speaker 1: was experiencing my own internal wark at this point. And
- 35:09Speaker 1: they have sign signage posted everywhere, you know what I mean,
- 35:13Speaker 1: And I think it was like maybe like I remember
- 35:15Speaker 1: it's about mile eighteen because there's the mile eighteen sign
- 35:18Speaker 1: and I'm like, like, the cramp doesn't bother me anymore.
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's just the fact that I realized I'm wearing white shorts.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Oh no, and it's going to be bad.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but thankfully, like my I mean, it was motivation,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you know where, Like it felt like every quarter mile
- 35:40Speaker 1: I was seeing like a bank of porta potties.
- 35:42Speaker 3: And now I'm in a desert and I'm like, I'm
- 35:49Speaker 3: going and I'm just trying, you know, like I'm not religious,
- 35:53Speaker 3: and I'm praying at the universe and I'm like, oh
- 35:55Speaker 3: my god, I make it.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I make it to the porta potty bank and it's
- 36:04Speaker 1: like a ship sauna because it's so hard. Port is
- 36:11Speaker 1: a disaster of right. Yeah, but I was in such
- 36:16Speaker 1: a hurry matter I didn't stop the check if there
- 36:19Speaker 1: was toilet paper, there was no, not a lick of it.
- 36:26Speaker 1: So I'm like, Okay, well I'm gonna I'm gonna use it.
- 36:29Speaker 1: There's the shirt I'm wearing. I'll wear this this overly
- 36:33Speaker 1: expensive aided out of the lemon shirt I have. I
- 36:39Speaker 1: have no options, you know, And I kind of like
- 36:41Speaker 1: look in the corner and there's a there's a Dunkin
- 36:43Speaker 1: Donuts bag. Now if if I mean Boston, maybe not
- 36:49Speaker 1: New York. I feel like Boston and Chicago or Dunkin
- 36:52Speaker 1: Donuts territories. So if you're from those areas, you know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: if you get a Dunkin Donuts bag, there's gonna be
- 36:59Speaker 1: like a half acre of napkins in it. Like you
- 37:05Speaker 1: get you get like two doughnut holes, and you need
- 37:09Speaker 1: you need eighty napkins for some reason. So I'm like,
- 37:12Speaker 1: I'm saved opening up.
- 37:16Speaker 3: No napkins, no napkins, no napkins.
- 37:18Speaker 1: But there's a discarded blueberry muffin wrapper.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Oh, it's gonna be comfortable. I mean you're talking to.
- 37:29Speaker 1: A man who is contemplating ripping the the the center
- 37:34Speaker 1: roll of the toilet paper, like off the thing, like
- 37:37Speaker 1: using that. Yeah for sure. Yeah, so the muffin, the muffin,
- 37:41Speaker 1: the discarded blueberry muffin rapper sounded like a much better idea.
- 37:44Speaker 3: So, but you need more than one rapper.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I took care of it. It was you keep your
- 37:51Speaker 1: shirt on or I kept the shirt. Okay, Yeah, well
- 37:55Speaker 1: I figured out I don't have to use the shirt.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Now use this and probably some of the dunkin Donuts bag.
- 37:59Speaker 1: You know, of course, a little waxy, though not the
- 38:02Speaker 1: greatest situation could have been a lot worse. And then
- 38:05Speaker 1: very regrettably, I have to finish telling the whole story.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Not my greatest moment. I run out. I mean, I'm sweating.
- 38:15Speaker 1: There's a poor woman who's sitting in front of the
- 38:18Speaker 1: part of that and she's got her legs crossed.
- 38:19Speaker 3: She's chopping on one also a runner.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yeah okay, and she looks at me and she goes
- 38:23Speaker 1: it is her toilet paper, and I just went yep.
- 38:26Speaker 3: And now.
- 38:32Speaker 1: My motivation, my motivation running the next eight miles was
- 38:36Speaker 1: this woman cannot.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Catch again, have anybody else, but I'm gonna.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Because if she catches me, she's gonna beat my ass
- 38:46Speaker 1: and it would be justifying. Yeah that's my mile age.
- 38:50Speaker 3: That's awful. Yeah that's terrible. Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good stuff.
- 38:57Speaker 3: It's good stuff. But so then you made it.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I made it.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean and then you had raw the
- 39:01Speaker 3: next day.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and uh.
- 39:06Speaker 3: You were all good?
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean we can we can probably figure
- 39:10Speaker 1: it out, like on a calendar, like look it up
- 39:12Speaker 1: and like see what I did. I can't remember the
- 39:16Speaker 1: show that day, yea, yeah, but I do because I
- 39:18Speaker 1: remember someone coming up to me and going. Somebody said,
- 39:21Speaker 1: you ran the marathon yesterday? Yeah, I sure did. Are
- 39:27Speaker 1: you okay? Yep, I'm fine, sure ready to go. I
- 39:30Speaker 1: didn't post a great time or anything like that is
- 39:32Speaker 1: the cramp and the you know, the stopping and the
- 39:34Speaker 1: stretching and the walking or stuff like that. But like
- 39:36Speaker 1: I at that point, I was like I just have
- 39:38Speaker 1: to finish.
- 39:39Speaker 5: You still ran twenty six point two miles without training,
- 39:42Speaker 5: Like that's crazy, insane.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yeah, well, professional athlete. Yeah what did your sister say?
- 39:51Speaker 1: What took you so long she did it? And like
- 39:53Speaker 1: she did it like four hours and twenty minutes, and
- 39:55Speaker 1: how how she crushed it?
- 39:57Speaker 3: How long did it take you?
- 39:58Speaker 1: I was like, A, probably you just shy a six
- 40:00Speaker 1: or just over six.
- 40:01Speaker 3: That's still very impressive.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I mean I'm not embarrasseding literally like I didn't train
- 40:07Speaker 1: for this.
- 40:07Speaker 3: I just flew in from Australia and I said, you
- 40:11Speaker 3: didn't tear anything.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I probably did.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I feel like my late teen things could have gone
- 40:17Speaker 3: very bad.
- 40:20Speaker 1: But you know that could have been worse, could have
- 40:21Speaker 1: could have been.
- 40:22Speaker 2: We've all had I think the steamy at least I
- 40:25Speaker 2: have had the steamy port.
- 40:27Speaker 3: But that's my.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Pert, like, you know, that's life perspective. Well, I guess
- 40:31Speaker 1: it could always be.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Worse, could be the lady. That's where the phrase comes.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I'm sure she was fine. Two that's Saturday night wrong
- 40:53Speaker 1: versus Wow, definitely contest you want amazing?
- 41:03Speaker 3: It is amazing, really crazy.
- 41:05Speaker 1: How old were you twenty eleven? So that's what fifteen
- 41:10Speaker 1: years ago, thirty thirty two.
- 41:13Speaker 3: It's impressive.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm not good at math.
- 41:15Speaker 3: I gotta say that's impressive.
- 41:16Speaker 1: That's something I look. I think about and I'm like,
- 41:19Speaker 1: you told me to do that now, and I'd be.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Like, all bad, all bad?
- 41:24Speaker 1: How many days do I got?
- 41:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 41:26Speaker 1: What are you? What are you talking about? Yea, yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 1: I don't. I don't bounce back like I used to.
- 41:30Speaker 1: But I also I go heavy on recovery stuff now,
- 41:34Speaker 1: like what like.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Do you do the ice bath? Oh yeah, oh yeah, yes,
- 41:40Speaker 3: very much. You're a believer.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I am a believer. Yeah that. I'm a believer in
- 41:46Speaker 1: the red light therapy too, And these are these are
- 41:48Speaker 1: things that I people, well you see all these benefits
- 41:51Speaker 1: and I'm like no, but I know immediately it makes
- 41:55Speaker 1: me feel better.
- 41:56Speaker 7: I do.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I lay on a red light man hour before I
- 41:58Speaker 1: go to bed and I fall asleep like that.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Well, is that what they recommend to do it at
- 42:04Speaker 3: night like that?
- 42:04Speaker 1: So we just got to read different science about doing
- 42:07Speaker 1: it in the morning for like a boost of energy
- 42:10Speaker 1: to start your day. But that's when I do my
- 42:12Speaker 1: ice bath. Oh, it's that's like first thing. And people
- 42:16Speaker 1: are always like, ah, it's junk science, it's this and that,
- 42:19Speaker 1: and I just say, well, I know how it makes
- 42:21Speaker 1: me feel better. I wake up and like my wrist
- 42:23Speaker 1: is achy, and my back's achey or wrong on my pillow,
- 42:27Speaker 1: on my neck hurts. Like, I get in the ice
- 42:29Speaker 1: bath three five minutes and it takes care of It
- 42:32Speaker 1: wakes me up and it gets rid of all my
- 42:34Speaker 1: aches and pains. That's awesome, even if it's just for
- 42:37Speaker 1: fifteen minutes. It gets me moving and then I eat
- 42:39Speaker 1: and then I'm in the sun and I'm walking along.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Do you do the ice bath three to five minutes?
- 42:44Speaker 1: I think it depends on.
- 42:45Speaker 3: How cold it is, Like what tempt do you do?
- 42:50Speaker 1: Mine at home is set for forty or forty five degrees. Yeah,
- 42:56Speaker 1: so anything longer like that's normally like three minutes. There's
- 43:00Speaker 1: a place in Chicago I go to where I do contrast,
- 43:02Speaker 1: so cold, I'll do the cold plunge and then I
- 43:05Speaker 1: sit in the sauna for twenty minutes.
- 43:08Speaker 2: And is it a dry sauna or a wet sauna?
- 43:10Speaker 2: It's a dry song, Okay, yeah, because there's all theories
- 43:13Speaker 2: on that too.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Oh right, yeah. And then they have this do you
- 43:16Speaker 1: know what an immortal machine is? I haven't had that
- 43:18Speaker 1: free plug, I guess for them, I don't know, Like
- 43:20Speaker 1: it's I discovered it because a whole bunch of hockey
- 43:24Speaker 1: players swear about. Okay, so a lot of a lot
- 43:26Speaker 1: of facilities, probably in the NFL and certainly the NHL
- 43:30Speaker 1: are getting these big a mortal machines. So there's different
- 43:32Speaker 1: kinds of light therapy. This combines all of them into one.
- 43:37Speaker 1: So you lay in this thing and it's just I
- 43:40Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know how to describe it. Like
- 43:44Speaker 1: it could just be because I have nothing else to
- 43:45Speaker 1: do and I fall asleep, but it puts me out, really,
- 43:49Speaker 1: I just I fall asleep.
- 43:50Speaker 3: The red lightbed does.
- 43:51Speaker 1: That for me. I wake up and I kind of
- 43:53Speaker 1: feel like energized and ready to go.
- 43:56Speaker 3: But so it's red light plus what all different kinds of.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Light red leg yellow.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Blinding.
- 44:05Speaker 1: This is one of those things. I mean, it's very bright. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 1: I wouldn't recommend looking at it close your eyes. You
- 44:11Speaker 1: wear I don't know. And there's a I can't remember
- 44:16Speaker 1: what they call it, the thing that goes in your
- 44:18Speaker 1: nose and you're like breathing in like pure oxygen too.
- 44:20Speaker 3: So it's just like it's all the whole thing.
- 44:22Speaker 1: It's all recovery.
- 44:23Speaker 3: It's like a hyperbaric light chamber.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Huge on bodywork and massage and stretching and.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Just crazy how much you have to stretch. Yeah, as
- 44:33Speaker 3: we get older.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a funny scene in Grown Ups the Adam
- 44:38Speaker 2: Sandler movie.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Haven't seen it.
- 44:41Speaker 2: So there's this scene and it's like Adam Sandler, like
- 44:44Speaker 2: they're all a little older and they all have younger kids,
- 44:46Speaker 2: and they go back to where they used to go
- 44:48Speaker 2: to summer camp or whatever it is. Forgive me if
- 44:50Speaker 2: I'm getting it a little off, and they run into
- 44:53Speaker 2: zac Efron and like these frat boys. So, like these
- 44:57Speaker 2: young frat boys and they're at the cliff that they
- 44:59Speaker 2: used to dive off of and they get into words
- 45:01Speaker 2: and they you know, they're going to get into a
- 45:02Speaker 2: fight and They're like, yeah, all.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Right, yeah, well we're gonna we're gonna kick your ass.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Just hang onna war start stretching, and it's what's it's
- 45:14Speaker 2: who's in it?
- 45:15Speaker 5: Kevin James, Adam Sandler, Chris Chris Rock.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's just it's funny.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean backstage before I have a match, like
- 45:23Speaker 1: I'm stretching. Oh yeah. I banded all kinds of stuff,
- 45:28Speaker 1: like band around my knees. I'm doing letters and cat
- 45:32Speaker 1: cows and clamshells, and I'm just like, I gotta move, yeah,
- 45:37Speaker 1: because if I don't.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Yeah, then it's bad. And then it's bad, then it's bad.
- 45:44Speaker 2: I shouldn't tell the story of myself, but I will.
- 45:46Speaker 2: And I don't know if I've told it on the pot,
- 45:48Speaker 2: I doubt, you know. So we were playing Capture the
- 45:52Speaker 2: Flag our family, and I know I'm faster than my husband,
- 45:56Speaker 2: right well, you hear he's on the other team, and
- 46:01Speaker 2: I know where he is, and he's like downguarding the
- 46:04Speaker 2: flag and I'm not too too far away. And in
- 46:08Speaker 2: my mind, I like, as soon as the bell rings
- 46:11Speaker 2: or whatever it was, I am running. I'm gonna get
- 46:14Speaker 2: that flag. And I know he can't catch me, do
- 46:16Speaker 2: you warm up? There was there was a minimal, minimal.
- 46:21Speaker 2: But see now, also I have other problems because I
- 46:26Speaker 2: had three kids. Oh so yeah, this is why I
- 46:29Speaker 2: said I probably shouldn't tell the story.
- 46:30Speaker 1: But so you know, it's okay, I'm gonna shut myself.
- 46:36Speaker 2: So here, I am having this great vision of what's
- 46:40Speaker 2: going to happen, right, and I mean I really see it.
- 46:43Speaker 2: The buzzer rings, I take off and I pull my groin,
- 46:48Speaker 2: I get a shin splint and completely pee.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Myself within four or five steps. And I just started
- 46:57Speaker 3: to laugh.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because it was so not what I thought was
- 47:01Speaker 1: going to happen.
- 47:03Speaker 3: I mean, I had so envisioned something different.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I hope you wouldn't plan on that. What's going to happen?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Everybody going to go off?
- 47:16Speaker 3: I was wearing shorts running down my leg. So yeah,
- 47:24Speaker 3: so that's my story. No, I'm red here.
- 47:26Speaker 1: That's okay, Yes, yes it is.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Do you have one?
- 47:31Speaker 8: I don't think so come on now, that's fine, Yeah,
- 47:40Speaker 8: we'll get we'll get one.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Means it hasn't happened yet.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Yes, that's right. Don't run a marathon, totally capture the
- 47:48Speaker 3: flag unexpectedly.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I mean we're just older.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Now, that's just got to stretch. That's the that's the message.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And the funny thing is is you don't get hurt
- 47:59Speaker 1: doing what we do. You know, somebody falls off a
- 48:02Speaker 1: twelve foot ladder onto me or I jump off. I
- 48:06Speaker 1: don't get hurt doing that. You get hurt doing the
- 48:07Speaker 1: stupid ship, the stupid ship.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Yes, they capture the flag ship. Yeah, yeah, yes, the
- 48:13Speaker 2: casual marathon ship. Except you didn't, which is remarkable. Yes,
- 48:19Speaker 2: well in that moment, you didn't.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I mean, and then apparently I flew and I wrestled
- 48:24Speaker 1: two matches.
- 48:26Speaker 3: In one night.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Dumb.
- 48:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, power to you.
- 48:31Speaker 1: It's just what we do. I'm not the only one.
- 48:34Speaker 1: We're all. We all have pretty remarkable stories like that.
- 48:37Speaker 2: You know, I don't know about running a marathon and
- 48:40Speaker 2: wrestling two matches the next day, running marthon.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I mean, think of think of all the think of
- 48:45Speaker 1: all the wrestlers in the eighties. Yeah, of drugs did
- 48:50Speaker 1: amazing things.
- 48:52Speaker 3: There's a whole other side.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I can't say I've ever done that. Impressive, impressive in
- 48:58Speaker 1: a different way.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Okay, I still give you that.
- 49:04Speaker 2: So being a veteran, now, right, do you or do
- 49:10Speaker 2: you see yourself as a veteran or not more of
- 49:15Speaker 2: a like facts or facts, It doesn't matter if a
- 49:20Speaker 2: long time decades. Yeah, yeah, I've I've been around.
- 49:25Speaker 1: I started a while ago. I think I think I'm
- 49:30Speaker 1: still here operating on this level. I must have seen
- 49:33Speaker 1: and done done some things that have merit to them.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Maybe my opinion carries some weight, but I I think
- 49:43Speaker 1: it's a dangerous thing. And I to say that veteran, Yeah,
- 49:48Speaker 1: just because I've been I've been around, sure.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and I'm not. So My question is,
- 49:58Speaker 2: how do you look at things now? Is it different
- 50:01Speaker 2: than how you looked at things, you know, when you
- 50:03Speaker 2: first started? Some of like because your journey is so remarkable.
- 50:08Speaker 2: I mean it really is like you're, first of all,
- 50:10Speaker 2: just a completely unique person in all all the wonderful ways.
- 50:15Speaker 2: And I'm sure you would say there's not wonderful ways
- 50:18Speaker 2: or what have you, like, because we're all human, But
- 50:20Speaker 2: you're really remarkable.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think you're fat. I'm pretty wonderful. You're not. Other
- 50:24Speaker 1: than that, they're not I'm wonderful, not fat, I'm wonderful.
- 50:27Speaker 3: You're wonderful, not mister wonderful.
- 50:30Speaker 1: No, you're wonderful it's actually just watching Paul Orndorf buzz
- 50:35Speaker 1: Sawyer match, and I was like, I was texting your
- 50:38Speaker 1: your husband about it. Yeah, yeah, I like shot me
- 50:41Speaker 1: a text. He's like, hey, what are you doing? And
- 50:42Speaker 1: I was like Cardio watching buzz Sawyer and Paul Orendorf.
- 50:46Speaker 3: I don't remember that matter.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Conversation spirals to like somewhere he didn't expect it was
- 50:51Speaker 1: going to go that's good. Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 2: But you're and you are truly a student, right like
- 50:56Speaker 2: you've studied. I think you seem to be someone who's
- 50:59Speaker 2: studied these all of the things.
- 51:01Speaker 3: That you love, yes, right, like whether that's hockey, whether
- 51:04Speaker 3: that's you know, wrestling, whether it's food, you know, whatever
- 51:07Speaker 3: it is. You like you said, you obsess about it.
- 51:09Speaker 3: You get deep into it. But two have grown up in.
- 51:17Speaker 2: What I'll say, and you correct me, maybe a tumultuous environment,
- 51:21Speaker 2: a tough environment.
- 51:25Speaker 3: You found.
- 51:27Speaker 2: What I think the wrestling community is is family. And
- 51:32Speaker 2: you found a real family and a family that you
- 51:35Speaker 2: were just talking about who you know gave you that
- 51:39Speaker 2: love that you never really knew before.
- 51:42Speaker 3: And two then go after what.
- 51:47Speaker 2: You love and then you start in like your own
- 51:51Speaker 2: independent circuit almost in backyard wrestling, which we don't condone,
- 51:56Speaker 2: but and and it becomes pretty successful. But then you
- 52:02Speaker 2: have another hardship related to that, which you overcome. And
- 52:05Speaker 2: then you do get into the business and become one
- 52:10Speaker 2: of the biggest stars of all time. And your opinion
- 52:14Speaker 2: does matter so much. And you are so different, especially
- 52:19Speaker 2: when you were coming up at a time where you are,
- 52:21Speaker 2: you know, drug free, you're straight edge, you you know,
- 52:24Speaker 2: look a little different from you know, interviews that that
- 52:27Speaker 2: I've heard you give.
- 52:28Speaker 3: From your perspective, you're you.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Know, you're a punk, right, You're you're this punk ass
- 52:34Speaker 2: kid who's going to talk shit and tell it like
- 52:36Speaker 2: it is and pipe bombs and everything else. Right, Not
- 52:40Speaker 2: everybody can get away with that. And then you know,
- 52:45Speaker 2: you have a lot of medical issues, You have some
- 52:49Speaker 2: real difficult times physically, and I'm sure mentally and emotionally.
- 52:53Speaker 3: You leave the business.
- 52:56Speaker 1: In this whole thing.
- 52:57Speaker 3: You find April.
- 53:00Speaker 2: You guys get married, you get Larry, Your life takes
- 53:04Speaker 2: on a totally new direction. You decide you're gonna do MMA,
- 53:10Speaker 2: which again is like crazy to think that you were
- 53:14Speaker 2: able to even compete, you know, at that level, coming
- 53:19Speaker 2: out of of a completely different profession, you know, and
- 53:23Speaker 2: and I'd love to learn even just some of the
- 53:26Speaker 2: lessons in that. But then you you decide to come back,
- 53:30Speaker 2: you go to a different promotion, and then ultimately wind
- 53:33Speaker 2: up back in WWE, where nobody ever thought you would
- 53:38Speaker 2: ever wind up again, including yourself at some points, right,
- 53:43Speaker 2: like if someone had told you that this was gonna happen,
- 53:45Speaker 2: you'd be like, yeah, no, I don't think.
- 53:46Speaker 1: So, Yeah, that's fair to say, Like.
- 53:54Speaker 3: What what drives you?
- 53:57Speaker 1: Like?
- 53:58Speaker 2: What what are some of the things that you learned
- 54:01Speaker 2: during such an incredible journey? Because it takes such courage,
- 54:07Speaker 2: I think to take the risks that you've taken and
- 54:12Speaker 2: to take the like what what what do people need
- 54:16Speaker 2: to know that it's safe or unsafe? How do you
- 54:19Speaker 2: get them to take those risks, to believe in themselves
- 54:22Speaker 2: enough to not be afraid to fail, to see failure
- 54:27Speaker 2: as a teaching opportunity, Like what how do you look
- 54:30Speaker 2: at this time and the key things that you've learned?
- 54:35Speaker 1: I think for me because I will, I will say
- 54:42Speaker 1: it all the time to April. You know, I'm annoying
- 54:47Speaker 1: when I'm at home and I'm just like randomly like, hey, babe,
- 54:49Speaker 1: I love you.
- 54:50Speaker 3: You know, I'm sure she doesn't find it annoying.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Well she might, I don't know, I don't think. So
- 54:56Speaker 1: she's in her office, hold up writing and I just
- 54:58Speaker 1: like pop in and like, you know, it's probably annoy
- 55:02Speaker 1: but I just I look at things and I think
- 55:09Speaker 1: a few of us on the roster start speaking this way.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Like I just saw Seth cut a promo and he's
- 55:15Speaker 1: talking about how almost sounded like he was going to
- 55:20Speaker 1: fucking retire, and I was like, what are you doing? Man?
- 55:25Speaker 1: You know, like everybody else will say, oh, you're old
- 55:29Speaker 1: and you're this and you're that, and I'm just like, yeah,
- 55:33Speaker 1: but I'm old and I'm doing this shit.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Watch this right.
- 55:37Speaker 1: So where I get the inspiration from is just people
- 55:40Speaker 1: around me. Just I'm inspired every day by my wife.
- 55:45Speaker 1: I'm inspired every day by my trainer Jay. I'm inspired
- 55:50Speaker 1: by Chad Gable, I'm inspired by Bailey. I'm inspired by
- 55:55Speaker 1: everybody else because I see them have setbacks and they
- 55:58Speaker 1: come back from them necessarily concerned with mine. But I
- 56:03Speaker 1: constantly am just like, man, what a life? What a like?
- 56:09Speaker 1: Before we sat down to do this, the they were
- 56:14Speaker 1: interviewing me about a great many things, and I was
- 56:17Speaker 1: talking about Jesse Ventura, you know, and it's just like
- 56:21Speaker 1: I said, I said, Wow, he's not gone. I'm glad
- 56:23Speaker 1: he's still here. But what a life well lived when
- 56:28Speaker 1: you can be like, he's a Vietnam veteran and then
- 56:31Speaker 1: he was a pro wrestler and he had to retire
- 56:33Speaker 1: for health concerns and then he became one of the
- 56:36Speaker 1: greatest commentators of all time, huge advocate for the boys.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Governor also, that's what and he becomes governor and it's
- 56:44Speaker 1: just like, like why not. Like I I came, I
- 56:51Speaker 1: came from nothing, and so there to me, there's really
- 56:55Speaker 1: there's really nowhere else to go except up. I am
- 56:59Speaker 1: afforded opportunities that scare the shit out of me, and
- 57:06Speaker 1: those that to me like, that's where my motivating, my
- 57:10Speaker 1: motivation comes from. Like I can't remember, was I thirty
- 57:13Speaker 1: five when I was like, oh, yeah, I'm gonna I'm
- 57:17Speaker 1: gonna fight in MMA now. And it was something I
- 57:21Speaker 1: wanted to do and I was going to do it.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I was going to start as an amateur. And then
- 57:26Speaker 1: of course Dana is like, no, you're not doing that.
- 57:31Speaker 1: You're going to fight for me, And I was just
- 57:32Speaker 1: like then I already hear the criticism, Dana.
- 57:36Speaker 3: You know, yeah, he's a promoter, right, So.
- 57:42Speaker 1: I just look at it like, okay, you know, deathbed scenario.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I don't want to be laying there thinking I should
- 57:53Speaker 1: have said yes to that, right, because what's the worst
- 57:56Speaker 1: thing that's going to happen. I'm going to get beat up? Well, ship,
- 58:04Speaker 1: it's in front of the entire world. Oh well shit, okay,
- 58:08Speaker 1: all right. It's not about the money, it's not about
- 58:14Speaker 1: anything else. It was just about, well, I'm gonna do
- 58:16Speaker 1: this anyway. Oh you're gonna pay me that? Oh okay,
- 58:20Speaker 1: well I'm gonna do it anyway. I just I don't
- 58:23Speaker 1: like saying no to things that scare the ship out
- 58:25Speaker 1: of me.
- 58:26Speaker 3: You know, do you think fear is a motivating I
- 58:29Speaker 3: will run.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Into a burning building, because to me, that's the you know,
- 58:35Speaker 1: not not not just to get burned up.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Like reason, There's got to be a reason for it,
- 58:40Speaker 3: a good reason, you know.
- 58:42Speaker 1: And I I, like, I understand all the criticism of
- 58:45Speaker 1: things I've been afforded to do, like fight in the UFC,
- 58:48Speaker 1: and like, you know, like there's there's privilege that I
- 58:51Speaker 1: have used in those scenarios. But like I still pay
- 58:54Speaker 1: the price, you know, and the price we pay is entertainers.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Is people with Twitter, fingers or mouth or anything, they
- 59:05Speaker 1: can say anything they want about us, right, Like you
- 59:09Speaker 1: have to come to terms with.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Your own security in those moments.
- 59:13Speaker 1: In those moments, this is where I enjoy being a
- 59:17Speaker 1: veteran because I can grab people on the roster and
- 59:20Speaker 1: be like, hey, like stop worrying about what they are saying. Right,
- 59:27Speaker 1: and they are saying that from a position way down
- 59:31Speaker 1: here there. Nobody punches down, you know, like they're punching up.
- 59:37Speaker 1: They're like they would want, they would kill to be
- 59:42Speaker 1: in your position. So you slipped or you messed up
- 59:45Speaker 1: your finish, brother, this is live TV.
- 59:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to happen again too.
- 59:50Speaker 1: This is the price we pay. And if you're going
- 59:52Speaker 1: to get upset and it's going to affect your mood
- 59:55Speaker 1: that much, like you have to realize that, like this
- 59:58Speaker 1: is it, this is live TV, this is what we do.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Sh It's going to happen, you know. So she just
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: live in that moment when I can hopefully coach some
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: of these kids through some of those moments. It's not
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the end of the world, Like do you think it's perspective.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, Oh it's perspective, it's experience. It's just
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: living life.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Yeah, like I will, but what a life, right, right?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: And I chuckle about like you said at the top,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like you know, like our relationship was fucking weird, and.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: I look back at weird.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Well I look back at it now and I'm just
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: like it all just boils down to communication.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Right, you know, like, yeah, we kind of danced around
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: each other, but I don't think that was because neither
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: one of us wanted to talk to each other. I
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: just think circumstances were what they were. Like, I remember
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: we had this one conversation and there were a lot
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: of voices that I heard a lot of negative voices
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: towards you, but my interactions with you had never really
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: been negative. And we had this conversation and you were
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: talking to me about basically like all the heat I
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: had and who was going to get it right, and
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: you were very respectful, like not talking down to me
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: about like, well you understand that's how the business works.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And I'm like, no, no, I get that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I very much would love to, you know, have a match,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: and it just wasn't me in charge making those decisions.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: But I remember the conversation and it was such a
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: good conversation, you know, and I always loved your perspective
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: on things. But again I wasn't like in the decision
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: making role related to anything you were going through or
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: but I would hear all about it.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: In my perspective now is like, yeah, you're the boss's daughter.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Where else are you going to work? Like what.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: Well?
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: And I loved it, I was right, but and the.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Price you pay being the boss's daughter is people aren't
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: gonna they're gonna say, no, you got handed this, and
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: like that's the privilege.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: That you had, sure, sure, right? And yet have I
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: been given opportunities?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Yes, but that doesn't mean you're not busting your ass right.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Right, But that one I got over a long time ago,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: because that's you know, I mean. And growing up, people
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: either hated me because I was Ben's mcmhon's daughter or
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: they loved me because I was Ben's McMahon's daughter.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: But it was never real.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: And that's what always bothered me the most, was like
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I want people to either like me or not like
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: me for who I am, right, you know, and you
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: learn who the real people are and there's a handful
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: of them, you know, if you're lucky, and the rest
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: is noise. But easier said than done, right, Like perspective
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: is everything and having been and I think too just
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: to take the risk, even to be a public figure now,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: no matter what that is, entertainer, you know, musician, athlete.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: If you're gonna be out there in the public eye,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: people are gonna come at you.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: That's and now it's loud because of social media, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: there are going to be people who just hate you
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: just for whatever reason.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: You're only as good as your I mean, in this business,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: you're only as good as your your last match or yeah,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: you know whatever.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Yeah it's.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: But you don't have to That can be super stressful
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: for somebody new.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah, young people especially. We talk a lot about iconic
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: stories on this show, and when it comes to sports
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: entertainment or professional wrestling, no stories are bigger than the
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: ones written by w w WEE legends, superstars like Stone Cold,

- 1:04:39Speaker 5: We are currently celebrating the fifteen year anniversary since the
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: Summer of Punk. Looking back on that summer of twenty eleven,
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: what memories do you have of it?
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Uh h, fond memories. I remember, I think feeling like
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I leveled up. I think that's the big takeaway was
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: holy shit, all right, now I'm here. But also like,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: be careful what you ask for, because now the hard
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: work really begins.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: It's like, I feel like I busted my ass in
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: my career to get to that moment where I was
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: finally recognized. But I knew, you know, you're only the
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: rents do every day. So I knew, like okay, and
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I was I was slowing down. I wanted to take
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: a bit of a break I was on the road
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: for a very very long time. I was fortunate I
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: did every house show, every pay per view. You know.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: I was running hard for a very long time. And
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: looking back on it, like two thousand and six to
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: twenty eleven, it might not sound like a lot of times,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: you know, but I mean the international tours we would
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: do and everything. And because I think I wasn't creatively
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: or monetarily like satisfied with where I was, I was like, Okay,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: well I can take six months off and then I
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: can come back, you know, like let me, let me
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: take a break. Let me take a break. And then
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Lightning struck with the pipe bomb, and that whole situation
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: to me was you know, like just magic and like
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: we we captured that, and it was like, well, okay,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I can either go home and squander this or I
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: can ride this lightning bolt, you know. And I rode
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the lighting bolt, you know, and like it really made
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: me feel like I had finally leveled up too in
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: some of the it's in management's minds. I felt like
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: I leveled up to the that my ability was always
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: at Like I felt like I worked like this top
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: guy and I was finally kind of recognized as that
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: for the first time, and with that came all kinds
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: of other challenges and problems. Sure, but and as as
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: your level up, you realize there's more levels to go.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: But that was That's the main takeaway. That's definitely how
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I felt.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: And kind of going off of that, what do you
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: remember about going out and delivering the infamous pipe bomb
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: promo that turned the wrestling world upside down?
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: I remember now, mind you the context is I'm still
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: very much leaving right in your mind. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: have not I have no new contract I'm looking forward to.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I think the next day we were flying to like
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Australia New Zealand and it was going to.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Be my last tour, you know again in Australia.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was told this unbelievable thing. I want
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: you to go out there and air your grievances. No, no,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you don't. You know you don't want me doing this,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: you know. Ah. And to bring it back instinct, I
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: knew if I told your dad this is what I
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: want to say, he would say, no, I can't say that, Okay.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I trusted myself to it because because I think the
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: thought was, you know, he's he's gonna he's gonna swear
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: he's gonna get us fined by the SEC. He's gonna
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: get us thrown off the air. He's, you know, like
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: he's gonna whip his dick out. I don't know what
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the you know, My intent was never to do anything
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: like that, like in the confines of the television show
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: that we do. I have too much respect for the
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: business two to go so far that I'm just burning
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: a bridge for no reason, right, just to do it.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I want you to go out there. I want you
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: to go out there and air your grievances. Okay, nothing
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: I did or said was outside of what we did
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: on our television show, right, but knowing my instincts, saying
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: things like New Japan Pro Wrestling wildly provocative for some reason.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: The competition, because I think everybody knew the rules and
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: everybody knew a lot of it was just based on
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: stuff that I knew would irritate Vince. Sure if I said, Hey,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: I want to go out there and talk about Paul
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: and Brock, he'd be like, no, don't, don't mention them. Okay,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: So I didn't. So I wrote up this bullshit and
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I gave it to him, and he and he read
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: it and his only feedback was it was good, just
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: make fun of Stephanie. And I was like, excuse me.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, I had her in there, and I
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: was like, okay.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for taking it easy on me.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I was just idot. And the funny thing is is
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: like people will still, like, you know, the the Twitter
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: smart fans will still argue about it like, oh, it
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: was approved, it was this, it was both it was
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: approved that it wasn't. It was approved to a degree.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: And my instincts told me, like, I'm not saying anything
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: too bad, like you can't if he's going to be
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: mad at me, he's gonna be.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Mad at me, and you're leaving anyway, and this is
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: what he told me to do.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: But it's not like, oh, I'm mad at you and
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: you're just straight up fired, although I did think maybe
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: there was a possibility of that, and then I've I've
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: had a couple of like flow state of body experiences
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: in the business where because like, sometimes I put so
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: much pressure on myself that I I worry about the
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: situation too much and I overthink it and I almost
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: over prepare because I think there needs to be a
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: bit of like relaxed chaos. That's why I don't like
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to plan matches. I like to go out there and
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: just be like, well, maybe maybe we'll do this right,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: but I'm going to be listening and I might not
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: be a very difficult thing to get people to understand,
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: because I remember the first time I started training. I
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: remember my trainers would say, watch, watch, watch Sean and Razor.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I bet they don't even talk to each other. And
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck you mean? He probably
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: just shoots him off and when he's coming off the ropes,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: he sees that he's like this, so he knows he's
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: taking a hip toss. The fuck didn't make any sense
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: to me. I was like, that's impossible, it can't possibly
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: do that. And now I hide from people like to
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: stay with me now. But the instincts took over and
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I I knew that this, I really felt super strongly
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: about this is the way it has to be. And
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: so I went out and I did it that way.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: And you know when I when I when I came back,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: it was I smell money, is what he said. And
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: at the time, like that was the stamp of approval.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: That was it sure. That was everything right there. Taught
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: me a lot about business, you know, like you sometimes
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: it's art, sometimes it's business. Actually it's always business.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: It's always business.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Sometimes it's if you can, if you can get to
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: you can get to the point where it's also art.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: But holy shit, you're also selling tickets.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: That's the magic. That's Yeah, it all comes together. Yeah,
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: it's funny because I read the the pipe bomb.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Oh oh.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I was like, I'm like, oh so I read it,
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: had the transcription of it before doing this today, and
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: I was like, it's really not that bad. Like it's
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: funny right perspective in time, because in the moment.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: The context is it was very very important. And that
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: was to illustrate how old I am now that at
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: the fucking time that yeah, I mean maybe maybe it
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: doesn't hold up.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: It does I really don't know, because of what it
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: meant in the moment.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: That thing, that thing melted people's TV.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Yeah it did. Yeah, No one had ever done that.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: I mean d X was controversial, right, and the like
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: reading the USA Network standards and practices and like that
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: was very fun.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: But nobody had.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Yet at that time to my knowledge, ever talked about
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: like Vince and Paul and me even though you were
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: directed to.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Like but in a shoot way right.
- 1:14:04Speaker 9: Right, but it also like but it dances and I
- 1:14:07Speaker 9: like you said, I'm a student it it it treaded
- 1:14:12Speaker 9: the line, yeah, so without crossing and then like it's
- 1:14:15Speaker 9: it's hard for.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Me to to like toot my own horn and talk
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: about this. But like when I see somebody say something
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: like off the cuff and like like wildly negative about it,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: like ah, it's not that great, Like no, like you don't,
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: you don't get it.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: You don't see what I did.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I have seen more people post that promo try to
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: emulate that and completely miss the point. Yeah, and completely
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: just think that they need to say people's real names
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: or say these outlandish things. And that's what it was. No,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: that's not what it was. It was me talking about
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I mean, I'll give people the formula. I will tell
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: everybody in NXT. This is the form Go out there
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: and you tell them four things that they know are true,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: and then the fifth one can be I was born
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: on Mars and they'll be like, well, shit, maybe this
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: guy was born on Mars because because those other fourth
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: things he said were true. It is nothing new. It
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: was nothing new then, it is nothing new now. I
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: would like to think it was all instincts and content
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: and performance, but propped up by the oldest rules in
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: pro wrestling. Like to me, like I talk about Terry
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Funk a lot, A guy I thought I don't talk
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: about enough is Johnny Valentine. Johnny Valentine even back in
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: the sixties would say that they all know this is bullshit,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: they all know this is fake. But when I go
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: out there, they're gonna point at me and go, But
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: that motherfucker, that mother fucker is real. And that was
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: the Cmpunk that walked out on that stage at the
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on that July day,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: and I sat down Indian style because I was just like,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: this is it.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: This is me, which made people automatically when you sat
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: down like that, Yes, people started paying attention in a
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: different way.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: They were listening differently. This wasn't a wrestling promo.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Right by design, right purposely. Yeah, well it was awesome,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: thank you.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: I mean, obviously transformed so many aspects of the business
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: and your career. Yeah, And man, it's remarkable fifteen years
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: of punk.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: You know, when I was out of the business. I
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: was obviously persona non.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Grata right here, you mean, or in general?
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I think everywhere. I mean I don't, I don't. I
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: don't think the other place existed yet. And y'all did
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: a I think a top one hundred Moments of Raw
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: or something.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: Like that moves the Raw Anniversary or something maybe I
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: don't know.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: And you guys put the pipe Bombers number one, and
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I remember I remember being like actually flabbergasted at that,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: like to be to be so good, to make that moment,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: what it was, to have him sign off on that,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: and to make that the number one Raw moment is
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: it's to me it speaks volumes. That's insane.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy and forever.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, somebody will top it. I hope somebody does.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I hope there's somebody in NXT.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: But nobody can ever take away from that moment.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: No, they can try, but again, it's just noise. Yeah,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: you know, I trust my instincts.

- 1:19:09Speaker 2: social media platforms so you never miss a single moment.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I mean, I was in the business, I don't even
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: know how long before I got signed, and then I
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: was in developmental for a year, and then like so,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: I had tricks up my sleeve that a lot of
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: people coming in didn't A lot of people from developmental
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: at the time didn't, you know. So I was able
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: to navigate things a little bit better. But there's there's
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: NXT talent that come up and they get thrown on
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: raw and it's just like it's it's sink or swim right,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: you know. And then but then they think, one little mistake.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: It's like the end of the world and I'm never
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: gonna make it.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: It's often not right. I think it used to be.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: I think a lot of that's left over from like
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the old regime, because I remember people getting fired because
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: their punch is sucked. You know, Yeah, it'd all be
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: down there in Kentucky, like, oh my god, like you
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: almost didn't want to get called up, just like what happened.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: This was a great talent. They got sent up, and
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: then you aren't. They're gone two weeks later. We thought,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: we thought for sure they were gonna make it. It's
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: like the turnover was like a lot worse. I think
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's a lot better now. System is
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: a lot more accommodating, and I think there's people in
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: positions of power that actually want to see people succeed.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: You know, I want the next generation to you know,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: work less and get paid more than I did, because
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I've that's what you should want. That's what you should
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: want in any business. I talked to a lot of
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: my friends in the NHL and they're stoked that the
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: young kids are like, yeah, They're like, this is great.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: These young kids are making more money than we ever did.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: This is great. I want that for I want that
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: for wrestlers.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: And do you think you said you think it's getting better?
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Where do you think it could continue to get better?
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: Because everything is always a work in progress, right, including
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: human beings.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Yeah? Man, TV time is an expensive commodity. You know,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I think taking chances. You know, it's funny because like
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: historically throughout wrestling, I think wrestling bookers and there's maybe
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: like three bookers left on planet Earth. Yeah, you know
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, it's it's not just
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: this I'm I'm the owner and the booker and this
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: is my territory. H Historically, bookers would just kind of
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: do what they liked. They would they would produce and
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: tell guys to wrestle, and they would come up with
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: storylines that there's just shit they liked.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: I heard Lord Michael say the same thing about us. Now,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: he just did what he liked.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Jared Jarrett booked what he liked in Memphis, you know
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: what I mean, Like don Owens, and you know, the
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Seattle booked, you know, in Portland, he booked what he liked.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Vince booked what he liked, and sometimes it was great
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: sometimes you know, like sometimes just he liked it, you know. Uh.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: But now I think there's there's so many people in
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: the room, and there's so many writers, and there's there's
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: you know, board members and like all this stuff that's
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: tell your husband all the time, Like, I don't envy
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: your position whatsoever, because if it's good, it wasn't your ideas.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: It's and I just you know, to me, it's a
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: variety show, so it could it could have I guess
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: more variety. I don't know. But then you know, then
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: we have Dan Housen. So like I'm not complaining about
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: shi is.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe I'm a fanhousing Yeah, for sure.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: He really he really feels like somebody that wouldn't have
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: happened years ago.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but but agreed, he's refreshing to me, he is. Yeah,
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: he's so fun everywhere.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: I would and to me, I'll say the controversial answer. Now,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I would like to see more people be a little
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: more serious about things and instead of happy to be here,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I would I would like more feedback given to people
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: coming through the curtain instead of just fine, right, you know,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: because some people chase the hug and they come back
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: and they're just like I wasn't They want to be told,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: you know, But I always say, well, get up, get
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: off your phone. You're looking at Twitter to see how
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: your fucking match was. Did you listen to the people,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: because that's your instant reaction, that's that's your boss.
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: When a thousand percent agree with that, yeah, I.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Don't give a shit with somebody on Twitter says about you.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: And by the way, if they're empty seats, that's a
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: big tell.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: The live event audience is I think the most critical audience.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: And I don't mean like other people's opinions don't matter,
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: or fans watching on TV or whatever that they that
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: their opinion doesn't matter. But I think that's the best
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: feedback that you get. I mean, and it's a gift
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: to be able to.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Have that feedback. The dissonance between what wrestling Twitter says
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: or what actually happens in a live building is crazy.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: It's it boggles my mind.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Like, I agree, and you can read like especially because
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: you know the algorithms get into However, they're serving you
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: stuff and it's like so negative, and you would think
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: the business is going away from what you read online.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: And then you're in the arena.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Watching the show and everybody's so psyched to be there,
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: and it's like the best feeling in the world.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, I don't know. There's thirteen thousand people there,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: they're pretty, they're pretty might they left them going.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Oh, and I hope they want to come back, right,
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: that's what we want them to say. But I agree
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: that live event feedback is just invaluable. But that's interesting.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: So do you think it's the or probably a combo.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Do you think it's the talent that are just looking
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: for the pat on the back or is it the
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: powers that be not giving that critical feedback.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I think it can be both in some situations. I
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: think sometimes some people don't want to hurt people's feelings,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: so I think they need to figure out a way
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: to communicate things.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: That in a positive way.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, because that's true because we've all been there. Yea, Hey,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: do you got anything for me? Yeah? Man, your fucking
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: punches suck and you should fucking quit the business and
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: then burn your boots, you know, like Okay, that might be,
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: it might be a little much. But if you're if
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: you're earnest in your seeking knowledge, like, oh my punches.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Suck, Okay, how do we how do I make them better? Yeah?
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Because I was a fifteen year old kid working at
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: a comic shop that made a ball of tape and
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: hung it from the ceiling and sat there and punched it. Yeah,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: ten thousand times a day.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean. Paul hung a bolt
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: from a string.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Ye you know, yeah, exactly.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: And it's just like I want the producers or agents
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: to really focus on helping and giving constructive, positive feedback
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: and showing things instead of just saying things. And I
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: also need the talent to be sincere in wanting to
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: get better and grow and keep an open mind and
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: and different perspectives on how to receive that information and
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: then apply it. A big problem obviously is we don't.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: Do as many lives right less opportunity.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: It's harder, but I think the people who really want
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: it will figure it out.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: That's how I did it right, you know.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: And if you're only as good as your last match,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: if you get feedback and they're like, hey, maybe do
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: this and this and this, and then you're not going
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: back to Florida and working on it ring. And then
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: the next time we see you, you do the same thing,
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: and we're just like, well.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: Yeah, told just once before, but we'll say it again,
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: I just I think every myself included, everybody can tighten
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: things up.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: Be sure, you know, we're all a work in progress, always, always, always, yeah,
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: no rest. My dad's philosophy was always outlive them and
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: outwork them. Those tracks. I've heard that multiple multiple times. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: I have a question for you.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: What is one of the best pieces of advice life
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: or business that you've ever received from Paul Hayman.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: The first thing that comes to mind, I don't even
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: really think was advice, but it became prophetic because it
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: was true anytime I was ever frustrated, you know, and
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: whether it was just like because I do have this
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: drive and based on somebody else's perspective, it could be
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: positive or negative, you know, like fuck you, I'm the best,
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: right right. That's how I've always wanted to approach things like,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: oh Man wrestle Eddie Guerrero on the Indies, and I
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: was immediately like, oh boy, okay, I got some fucking
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: work to do, you know, you know what I mean.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: But like at the level I was at, yeah, I
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: thought it was great. You know, Oh shit, there's another summit.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: There's another this Paul. You know, like anytime I was frustrated,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I would say things and he would just he said
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: one time he was just like, you're gonna have to
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: leave and come back to get what you want. And
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I was like, oh, well that stinks because you don't
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: necessarily want to leave, right, Like, I'm on the team
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: like you, I understand people like being proud of the
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: company you work for. Like you know, I understand people
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: like I work for w W and we're the best. Well, yeah,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: you work there. You know, your perspective is going to
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: change based on what team you play for. You're not
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: going to hear somebody on the Ottawa Senators saying like, oh,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: you know, we're okay, but I I really love to
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: play the greatest way to get yourself thrown out.
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: Of the locker room, you know, let's see if they
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: want you, you know.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: And what in turn I learned from that was just like, well,
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: it's not always going to be rainbows and puppy dogs
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: and sunshine, right you know, but if you bust your
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: ass and if you are good enough and you're consistent,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: like yeah, you do get put in the places you belong.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: I was just probably impatient, you know, and it takes
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: it took me a long time to get to where
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: like I wanted to be, and now I'm where I
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: want to be, and now the people are like year old,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: and I'm like what you know, Like when I was
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: thirty two, maybe I wasn't ready to receive this right,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: like I grew into the person that was ready to
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: do it. It wasn't really like advice or maybe it
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: was like a little yo to ask because I had
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: to kind of figure it out myself. But you know,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: at the time, I took that as like a negative,
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: like you're gonna have to leave and come back. Well
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: there's nowhere else to work, Like what you know, Like
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: what do you mean? This is it?
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: You know, so that was probably it. Other than just
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: trust your instincts and be yourself. He was. He was
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: a big one. I'm always telling me to trust my instincts,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: you know, and whether I vocalize that with people or not,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: Like if I had a feeling about something, I was
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: like because You're gonna be talking to somebody about any
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: number of things, and they might have more time in
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: the business than you. You know, if you're like, yeah,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: but I really, I really think A good example, a
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: perfect example. I'm way out of my depth. Here is
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: my first pay per view It's Survivor Series. We're in Philly, right,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: I lived in Philly at the time. Hardcore fan base,
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: they all know me. I'm debuting on pay per view.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I've only been on t since like August, August, September, October, November.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Survivor Series I've been on. I've been on the road
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: full time for four months. I'm still I'm still a newbie.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Sure right, Yeah, I'm in the Survivor Series match against well,
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I'm sorry, not against. It's it's me, Shawn Michaels, Triple H,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy. So there's there's four people
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: that have been on television consistently since nineteen ninety two
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: three long time ninety six, ninety seven for the.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: Hardys compared to your four months and yeah, for four months.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: And Pat Patterson fucking legend, he's the agent. He's sitting
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: there going over the match. We're we're working at Mike Knox.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Edge, can you guys pull it up?
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Hurricane?
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: Oh here it is there, it is.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: Randy. Who's the fifth guy. I'm not gonna remember. Let's see.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: The reason I can't remember is because.
- 1:33:15Speaker 7: Right now, and you know, and Pats there, and Pat's like, okay, guys,
- 1:33:19Speaker 7: this is what we do. We get the heat on Jeff.
- 1:33:21Speaker 7: We get the heat on Jeff. We get the heat
- 1:33:22Speaker 7: on Jeff.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: And the little fucking voice in my head was just like,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: should get the heat on me? You know, like yeah,
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: And Edge, to his credit, was like, I really, I
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: really think we'd give it to the kid it is
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: you is you either get the heat on him or
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: give him the comeback. I can't can't. I can't really remember.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: But the moment, yeah, there there was there was there
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: was there's some mechanical device in the match where like,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: you know, I was really like, I can't I can't
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: just stand here in this group of people and raise
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: my hand and be like I think it should be me.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: So I just like kind of sat there, just like
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: h and Pat and Pat.
- 1:34:01Speaker 7: No way, it's Jeff Hardy. They go crazy for Hearty.
- 1:34:04Speaker 7: They don't know who this kid is, you know, blah
- 1:34:06Speaker 7: blah blah.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: And I was just like, from his perspective, he's not wrong.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: I had no ill will towards Pat. I was just like, well,
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: he's no, he's he's fucking right. It's Jeff. They'll go
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: fucking banana for Jeff right, and I think, you know
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: they eventually they agreed and they gave me the moment
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: or whatever like that, and then after the match, he
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: came up to me, He's like, oh, I'm so sorry.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: I had no idea. They know who you are. Oh
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: my god, they love you, you know what I mean.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: And like, from that, from that point on, I was
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I was Pat's guy, and I was like, fuck, Like, man,
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: I really I really earned my money that day. But
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: that was super cool fucking moment. Yeah. I wasn't I
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: wasn't mad at Pat, but it was just like one
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: of those instincts in my head that I was just like,
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: I don't know, I just I'm feeling something. Pat knew
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: me for four months, right. He looked at it. He
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: looked at it, and he was like, no, Jeff from past.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: I've heard him say there's old ship and there's new ship.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And so like that was one of those
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: days of one of the greatest days of my career, honestly,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: because it's like I felt like I earned past fucking love.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: That's so cool.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was tough to do. Yes, it was,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: It really was, Yes, it was. But then I would
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: start asking him questions about like raced evens and ship
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: and he'd be like.
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, you know, oh yeah, you're really.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: Then I got the nerd out with Pat, you know
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: what I mean. And I would be like, oh, well,
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: Harley said one time.
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: You know, Harley was so many great stories to.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, tremendous.
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he is a legend absolutely, Yeah, first inter Continental champion.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Crazy Rio de Janeiro.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: As as it happens, right, yeah, absolutely it happened.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: That happens. There's no footage of it. It was eaten
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: by moths.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: So I did want to ask you. But and we
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: can edit or or whatever. You now going back to
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: your childhood, because I do think there are a lot
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: of kids who are growing up in difficult homes. Some
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: kids don't have parents at all. Some have abuse issues,
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: substance abuse issues, physical abuse, sexual abuse, mental health challenges.
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: How do you survive and ultimately thrive to get through
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: that environment?
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: How do you get to the other side of that?
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: Well, okay, so, so suffering is relative. I think I
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: might have said that earlier already.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: So like, yeah, maybe I suffer is the wrong word.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Well no, but like for everybody, it's different, and I
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: like I could always be worse. Right. I grew up
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: in a house where my parents, like the phone book
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: was open on the kitchen table to divorce lawyers, lawyers
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: every day, and there'd be knockdown, drag out fights. Nothing physical.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: Mom didn't beat up dad. Dad did beat up Mom.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: But it was just constant yelling and screaming and anger.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: And I was a kid and I didn't understand how
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: like one year I got a transformer for Christmas and
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: the next year I got socks, and well, I look
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: back at it now with the perspective, is like, okay,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: so that's probably when my dad got laid off, right, right,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: And there was always money for you know, a thirty
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: pack of Old Style and a cart and a cigarettes,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: a piece and wine and whatever medication, whatever expensive doctor
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: told you you needed to take. And it wasn't so
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: much it was it was just like a like a neglect.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: I can't play baseball anymore. Because you can't afford it.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Hockey is expensive, so that's fucking out. I have no
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: recourse to do anything. And I discovered through music. I
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: discovered punk rock, and I discovered we well, shit, they
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: don't they're not paying attention to me. I'd disappear for
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: weeks at a time or a weekend, and I would
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: go into the city and I'd go to these punk shows.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: You know, my friend, my friend Nora, who was at
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: the All State Arena on Monday, you know, like she'd
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: pick me up and we'd disappear into the city and
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: we'd go to the Fireside Bowl and see the Blue
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: Meanies or see like I saw Green Day playing nineteen
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: ninety three, ninety four at the Fireside Bowl, this old
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Glepidade bowling Alley, and I found a community through that,
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: like these oh the shit, these people. Somebody would buy
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: me a hot dog and you know, like it just
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: experienced all this shit that I didn't get like at home,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: you know, and then I think that helped me. Like
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: I felt like I was a misfit. I felt like
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: I did, you know, like I had a sibling who
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: got bought a car and went to college, dropped out,
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: like they spent the month. Yeah, so when it came
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: my turn, whether it was just through circumstance of bad
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: luck you don't have a job now, or what fucking ever,
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: but like I didn't, I didn't. I didn't get shit.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: I didn't get anything.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: So I had to outsource, right, and including love.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: I'm not going to say it was easy for me,
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: but again, I think some kids have it a lot
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: harder with like violence or sexual abuse or stuff like that.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: So I'm definitely not crying over spilt milk. I I
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: turned out okay, but I wasn't getting what I thought
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: I needed.
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: Did you get hugs?
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: No, No, like I But at the time, at the time,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I was just like I wasn't like, hey, I want
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: to hug you know what I mean.
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: I was just way it was.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: You know, I would I would get into fights at
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: school and you know, I have a black eye, and
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: I would come home and I would just hear, that's
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: not how you want to fight. And I would just
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: be like, fucking cool, all right, that's not how you
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: want to fight. What the you know, Like, yeah, I'm okay, Yeah,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: I'm all right, thanks, you know, And then I I
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: just I, like I said, I outsourced. So for any
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: kid that's going through some you know, some rough ship.
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: You know, I can't tell you exactly how to better
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: your your your situation without details or stuff like that.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Just know that there's there's a there's a space for
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: you somewhere, Like I found it through music, and then
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: I found it through wrestling, because man, if there was
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: ever a place where I belong, it's a pro wrestling
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: locker room about just misfits. You know.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: I've always said we're like the Island of misfit.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: Because I'd be I'd be sitting in the locker room
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: and everyone would be like, you don't do drugs, You're
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: weird kid, you fit right in. That would be fucking
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: smoking crack in the bathroom, all right, cool like, and
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: like nobody nobody gave a ship, nobody cared what color
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: you were, what your religion was. It was just like
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: we're all wrestlers and it was us for them. And
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: I was like, man, that's what I thought, my you know,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: like these people treat me better than mom and dad
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: and that doesn't make any sense to me, right, you know,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: So at a very early age, like I didn't I
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: didn't cry about it, I was just like, well, I'm
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: not getting it here.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: I'll get it here, right, you know, but find your community.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Yeah, But but I also think that can be very
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: difficult for some people. For me, I think it was
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: very easy. And whether you want to say I'm cold
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: hearted or whatever, it was, but it was very easy
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: for me to just be like Okay, no, all right, right,
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: I'll go here, you know. And I you know, I
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: tried to. I don't know, fix things is the word,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: but like I to find out real fast, Like when
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: you become famous.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: And you have money, right kind of yeah, crawling back.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Kind of changes everything. You know. I've I've paid for
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: more mortgages and funerals in my time than I care
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: to count.
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: But also like I look at it, like, right, you
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: can afford to do it.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: It's money. Yeah, I'll make more. And you showed me
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: who you were, and.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: When people show you who they are, believe in the
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: first time.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: Yeah. So I to me a great quote that I
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: always like, and I like to tell people if you
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: feel like you're going through hell, keep going.
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: Yeah, because chances are you're going to get to the
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: other shoes.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: You're going to get through the other side. A lot
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: faster than if you stop and you turn.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: Around and you go back, yeah, or if you just stop.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: Keep well, then you're stuck in hell. Right, keep moving, right,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: keep moving.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: It's great advice. And what do you need to believe?
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: I have never lacked self belief, so I think you
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: need to. I think you need to believe in yourself.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: It's really important.
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: I think it's real easy for uh, you know, to me,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: Like my brain, my head was like a boat and
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: I'm floating through the ocean and if I let the
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: water in, I'm going to sink. So if anybody would
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: be like, well you suck, you stick with whatever, I'd
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: be like, I'm not. I'm not going to believe that.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: I'm just gonna I'm just gonna keep doing me. Yeah,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be happy and do what I like.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: Like I became a wrestler because I wanted to be
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: a wrestler. It wasn't like, oh, I want to be
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: rich and famous, right, you know. I I think a
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: lot of kids today just you know, if you ask
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: them what they want to be, they tell you they
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: want to be famous.
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: And I don't enjoy being famous at all. It's not
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: to me. The fame is fame is an apparition. It
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: doesn't really fucking exist, you know. It's it's just a
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: it's a side effect of being good at what you do.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: Big news w W and sports fans, the world's number

- 1:45:24Speaker 2: I told at least when we first started doing this,
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: I said, you're going to start getting a lot of comments.
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: And so there's gonna be a lot of negative comments.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: Don't don't read them. Try your best not to read them.
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: There's gonna be a lot of negative comments, and then
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: there's gonna be a lot of positive comments.
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: Both of them are.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Bullsh Everybody reads the positive, but it's but none because
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: if you believe the great stuff well, now you're the best.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Now you're an ego maniac. But then you also have
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: to believe the bad stuff.
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: And it's just tough and it's hard not to read
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: it because you want feedback, but it's not the right
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: feedback to your point.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: No, I think it's easy for anybody to sit back
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: and criticize. And I'm sure at some point in history,
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: I'm guilty of it. You know. Twitter just gave.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: I'm still guilty of it, and I and I do
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: the same thing, and I catch myself.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: Twitter just gave everybody a voice, and I really need
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: to fucking hear what everybody right thinks. You know, I
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: don't care, Like I look at things like I look
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: at like a rotten tomato score of like the thing
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: John Carpenter's the Thing nineteen eighty four, and it I like,
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: how is that not one hundred percent? Right?
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: Who the fuck made that call?
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: I don't care. I'm going to fucking ignore them, you
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like, yeah, Okay, there's there's there's
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: a there's something for everybody. Like some wrestling is not
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: for me. I understand that there's an audience for it,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: so cool, go do that. But comparison is the thief
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: of joy, right, you know, like that can't compare a
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: lot of things like apples to apples.
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: Right, And everyone's different and everyone's circumstance is different.
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: But I don't think like your mindset is common. Like
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: the ability you have to just even at a young age,
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: it sounds like your boat and picturing, like the way
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: to just shut out the negative.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: Well, we call it rad radicalization, right, Like when were
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: you radicalized? I was radicalized very very young. Yeah, and
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: just by my parents because I just sat back and
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: I wid I was like, this is a yeah, that's okay.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: And you didn't repeat the same patterns. But a lot
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: of people do, see. I mean people talk about like
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: childhood trauma and this is the reason why you do
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: this and blah blah blah. And I don't think it
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: really necessarily goes that deep. I just think I saw
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: money true time, and like you know, like stuff spent
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: on drugs and alcohol, and I was just like, well,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: that shit doesn't make any sense to me, I you know,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: and not to not to get into the religion thing,
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: but like again, like I see you spending money on
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: this stuff and you're throwing a fifty in the collection plate.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: Every Sunday I'm wearing and I'm wearing this, like so
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: this is one of the one of those things if
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: you talk about childhood trauma. Like I used to have
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: like one pair of jeans and one pair of shoes,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: you know, and like I didn't care. And then I
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: had money and I was still wearing them, and I
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: was just like, I don't really, I don't really care
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: because this is whatever, you know, Like, and now I
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: feel guilty like that I have like multiple pairs of
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: shoes and I own these suits and like I have
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: that little like I have some guilt about that, you know,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: and that's just something I got to work through them.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I was you're giving them, you're giving money
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: to other people, and you're telling me I can't. You
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: don't have the the tuition so I can play baseball.
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: I was good at baseball, right, you know, I was.
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: You're an athlete, yeah, you know. And was there like
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: a boys and girls club for you or anything like that.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: No, I mean everything was school extracurricular activities, you know
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: what I mean. So it's just like I didn't I
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: didn't have the money to do anything. Yeah, wrestling, football,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Like I tried that from I made the team coaches
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: like you got to cut your hair, and I was like,
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: I can't do that.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: How long was your hair? Back then?
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: I had a mohawk, had a.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: Like a spikey mohawk or like a short.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Purple liberty spike mohawks.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: So just straight down, straight down the middle, okay, full punk. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: do we have pictures of them?
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: No?
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: I was Actually it was like the one regrettable thing,
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: right because I don't really talk to anybody in my
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: biological families, like there's a there's a plethora of baby
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: pictures out there somewhere that would be pretty good.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Yes, you know, somewhere along the line, we need to
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: get these.
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: There's some there's some pictures. I know. I think we
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: might have used them for some things that I'm not
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: exactly sure, but but.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: The purple mohawk I definitely have not seen.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: I mean a I could generate.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Please don't make ail. Yeah, I mean like glue in
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: my hair knocks.
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: To because you've got to get it to stand up,
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: got it?
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Hurricane couldn't have blown that hair over?
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: Did you blow it dry upside down?
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: No?
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Because I would literally I would boil I would boil
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: noos gelatin on the stove. Wow. Yeah, and then you
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: just kind of put it in and style it and
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: spike it and that ship.
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: Like and then how do you shave my head?
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Eventually? Yeah, you don't sleep well?
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Likely?
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: Fun?
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: Not fun.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: But so believing in yourself, community, doing what you love, right,
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: if you're lucky enough to be able to do that,
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: tuning out the noise.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: What else?
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: I don't know, that might be enough.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: I think it is, you know, I think it is.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: But when you said you were the best in the world,
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: did you believe it at that time because you said
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: the first time pipe bomb?
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: When when just because you had said that, like when
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: you thought you were really doing well, and then you'd
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: get in the ring with Eddie and you'd be like, oh,
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: I've got a long way to go, like yeah, and that.
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: It would really really frustrate you. Is that because you
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: believed you were the best in the world or just because.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: My world was very small at that moment?
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: Yes, okay it was a small right, Yeah, so in
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: this in this bubble. But I think it helped you
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: in a way, right, like to have that confidence.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, because I think I think anybody else at
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: that stage would have been scared shitless to be in
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: a room with Eddie.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: And I was like, nope, I want to learn.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: There's that three way that I had with Eddie and Ray.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: And it was in Indianapolis. I don't know what the building.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: It was small, you know, like a rec center kind
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: of thing, and like Eddie had just gotten fired because
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: he got a DUI, he's getting a divorce. I walk
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: in the locker room and there's you know, Eddie was
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: just like kind of sitting there. He probably just flown in.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: He's probably exhausted, he probably didn't sleep. He struggling with
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: staying sober at this moment, sure, because he wants his
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: family back, he wants his job back. I walk up
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: to him and say, mister Guerrero, I'm wrestling you know
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: you to night. And he looked up at me and
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: he smiled, and he's like, Hey, is it okay if
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: you and Ray just put it together. He's like, I don't.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: I'm not good at three ways. And I was like,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: it's the boss. Anything you want, and I get with Ray.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Talk about this match. Talk to Eddie. Sounds good, like
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: he trusted Ray. You knew Ray, he didn't need to
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: do shit with me. And to this day it's it's
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: one of my favorite matches. Like, yeah, I mean, Ray
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: are constantly like if I see it come up in
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: my feet, I send it to Ray and vice versa.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: That's cool, and it's yeah, it's it's a it's a
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: real moment, precious moments.
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: It's a super precious moment, you know that. And I
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: always every time I see Ray, I grab them. Hey man,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: I love you. We're still here, We're still doing this,
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: look at us. Cool.
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: Cool, that's really fucking cool.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: It's a very cool community community.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: Which I equate to love. Yeah, you know, and the
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: importance of love. But there was one last lesson from you,
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: and that is to do what scares you.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's really important. That's not you know,
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: that's not danger. Let's not join the army and.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: Right, you know, well, it's whatever it means to you, right,
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: it might mean different things to different people.
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: The the.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: Gosh, the the worry of screwing up and looking stupid
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: and failing, I think has probably killed more careers and
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: brilliant minds than anything else, you know, because there I
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: think everybody at some level early on experience is bullying,
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: Like people get made fun of for whatever you look like,
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: you know, like whatever, so it immediately you know, gets
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: them to shell up and stay inside. When I think that,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: you know, that's probably done more harm for some of
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: the greatest creative minds that we'll never know about, you know,
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: like I want I want people to fit like I'll
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: I tell the kids all the time, like go fail spectacularly. Yeah,
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: you never you never know like what's gonna come of it.
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: You might literally become at peace with whatever it is
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: to go up. Okay, you know what, that's the worst
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: that could happen. That's or you know what, that's not
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: for me, and then you go find something else right,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: you know, or you go, oh, that's not so bad.
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: What about even asking somebody out you know.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: What's been in the back of my mind when you
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: mentioned like doing things that scare the shitty of me,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: asking April to marry me.
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: And knowing how she felt about married, Like.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: You think, for a second, I give a shit what
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: somebody says about me stepping into a fucking cage when
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: the scariest moment of my life was like buying a
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: ring and not knowing like I don't know shit about jewelry, right,
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: you know, I don't know shit about like does she
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: like jewelry? Like I just knew I had to ask
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: her this question, and fuck what if she says no?
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: Like what you know, Like that's scary, yeah, you know,
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: like falling on my face, getting beat up and fucking
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: choked out. I don't you know what. I had pancakes
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: the next morning with my beautiful wife, and I was
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: just like, what do you want to do next?
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: Like, yeah, it matters most.
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: Yeah, coming back to WWE, it's a little scary. I
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: bet That's when I knew. I was like, well, I
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: have to. I have to fucking I have to do it,
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, main eventing WrestleMania at forty seven years old.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: It's a little scary, I bet.
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: You know, telling yourself, okay, you know what, Yeah, get
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: in the best shape of your life. That's a little scary.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: So I have to. I have to do these things.
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: Someday I'm not going to be able to do these
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: things anymore, but it's not fucking today.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: That's right. Amen, here we are, right.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: I think that's a great way to end it. Thank you.
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: So much until part two.
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I could keep talking. I really yeah, Yeah, it's fun.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: Have you told the story of how you proposed or
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: is that private?
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: I feel like I've told it.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: I feel like I've heard you say that April had
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: to tell it.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: Have you guys heard it.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: I don't know if you're comfortable telling it. We'd love
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: to hear it, but understand if you're.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: Not, I'll tell you. Okay, I'll tell you because I
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: feel like I've maybe.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: Just done well and maybe you haven't.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: We just uh, she had a she had a little
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: condo in Tampa right because she was in Tampa for FCW.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: She got pulled up the road, so she was still
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: living in Tampa. Sometimes she would come to Chicago. Sometimes
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: I would go to Tampa. I think I feel like
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: we dated for like two years. Uh, but we didn't.
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: I had a girlfriend, she had a boyfriend, and we
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: would just always be around each other. And I really
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: feel like looking back.
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: At it, and now I go, oh, it was obvious.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, you know, like zero physical happened. It was
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: just it was just like you were.
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: Drawn to each other. Yeah, undeniable.
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: Uh So when I get the bright idea that you know,
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: I'm going to ask her to marry me, like I
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: think we've only truly literally been dating for like six months.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: But it was just you know, ask me how I knew?
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: You just knew. I just knew. So I get this
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: fucking ring, and I'm anxious because I'm like, do.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: You even know her rings? Sighs? No, right, nothing?
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Oh no, I I went. I can't remember exactly I
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: backchanneled to get it somehow somebody at work, you know, Like, yeah,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I can't remember, but did the things I stress about,
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: like I'm going to spend money on this ring, and
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: I'm like, oh is this Am I spending enough? Money? Like? Right?
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: Like this is supposed to be like some sort of
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: like Housewives of like Decatur County, like Giant Rock, Like
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: what am I supposed to spend them? Does it mean?
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: How much I love it?
- 1:59:25Speaker 7: I knew.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: I knew like I knew her favorite color and I
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: knew her And it was just like one of those
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: things where I was just like how I was basing
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: it off that, you know, And then I found out
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: there's an engagement ring and a wedding ring, and I
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: was like, I'm out of my death here, you know.
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: But so, uh, this is the plan I came up with.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: I bought her flowers every week, right, so whether she
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: was in Chicago, there'd be flowers, or if she was
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: in Tampa and I was in Chicago in between.
- 1:59:57Speaker 3: Being kind of road, any kind of flower, I would
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: just call it the flora okay, and just be like, yeah,
- 2:00:04Speaker 3: doud do roses?
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: What do you got today? Send whatever?
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: So always different.
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not saying every day, but at least once
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: a week flowers. I never write anything on the card
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: because I was going to see her in a couple
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: of days.
- 2:00:16Speaker 3: Anyway, Like what do you write?
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: You know, I'm not even sure we were at I
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: love you yet, you know what I mean? The funk
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: am I writing in this car? You know, like, hey
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: see you soon? I don't know, you know. So I
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: like we went out, I think to get groceries and
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: I had to delivery coming and on the card I wrote,
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: will you marry me? Okay? So we come back from
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: the groceries, there's the flowers. They're delivered. They just put
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: them there, and you know, I'm probably like pale, they're
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: gray sweat, and we like get inside and I got
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: these groceries, and I'm like, I put the groceries on
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: the kitchen counter, and I'm just like standing goes against
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: the flowers and puts them on the counter, and she
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: starts like putting the groceries away, right, card, you know,
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: I'm just like looking at the flowers. She like turns around,
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: she's like, you can help me put the grocery. Oh yes, sorry,
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: So now I'm putting the groceries away, you know what
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: I mean. And she's not paying any mind to the case.
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: She doesn't think there's a card because.
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: There's nothing written on the card, right yeah, So imagine
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: that shut myself in the foot on it. So we
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: like put the groceries away, and she's like thanks to
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: the flowers, babe. And I'm like, I can't describe how
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: I was. I just had to be acting so weird.
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: I'm sure, you know. I sure like.
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: Hands in my pockets, standing like really rigid, like straight,
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: just like like looking at the flowers and being like
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: you know, and she like she goes and sits on
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: the couch and like turns the TV on and she's like,
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: what are you doing? What are you doing? And I'm
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: just like standing in the kitchen like a horror movie,
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I'm just like trying to
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: come up with the brain power figure out, you know.
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: And she liked of looks at me, and she's like
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: and I don't know if she she figured something out
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: enough to like, you know, snatch the thing and open
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: it up, and you know, like while she turned around
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: to read it, I was like, get the ring out,
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: you know. And then she like turned around and was
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: just like staring at me, and we both like sat
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: there with like tears in her eyes probably what felt
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: like five minutes, and then I was just I think,
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: I think I said get down on my knee, and
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: she was like, yeah, yes, I got down on my knee.
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: And I said, will you marry me?
- 2:03:01Speaker 3: Oh?
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: And she said yes.
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yeah yeah. Now I get why that
- 2:03:11Speaker 3: was the scariest thing you've ever done, right.
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: It was rough. It was I remember it is like
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: I'm I was legit sweating, like sweat went into my
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: eye and I was like, oh, I was like, oh
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: my god, because so many things things go through my
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: head because I'm literally like I can run away right now,
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: it hasn't happened yet. I can abort mission on this
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: you know, which is not what you want to be
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: thinking at the moment, you know. But yeah, I didn't.
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: I didn't contemplate like how this could have gone south?
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: It went south?
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: It did not.
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: I mean she said it course corrected. But in that moment,
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: I'm like, oh this, yeah, this isn't great. Yeah, you
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: saw it differently, like I'm sure, I'm sure there was
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: like a mumble like you're not going to read the car.
- 2:04:04Speaker 3: There's something in these flowers had to be like that.
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a stressful situation, but I think they're
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: supposed to be right.
- 2:04:12Speaker 3: They are. They are.
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: The imperfection is what makes it so great. I think so,
- 2:04:17Speaker 2: you know, and you guys were obviously meant to be together.
- 2:04:21Speaker 2: I love to watch the two of you together, I
- 2:04:25Speaker 2: really do. And especially the way she talks about you
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: and the way you talk about her and the way
- 2:04:30Speaker 2: you look at each other.
- 2:04:32Speaker 3: It's very rare. It's beautiful. Wow, it's beautiful. Thanks for
- 2:04:37Speaker 3: sharing that with us.
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we try to be very protective of
- 2:04:43Speaker 1: our private life. But yeah, I think that's a I
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: think that's a sweet story.
- 2:04:47Speaker 2: It is, it is, and it's you know, something you
- 2:04:51Speaker 2: were scared to do that you did that mattered the most.
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: And if you never would have asked, who knows, right.
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: I like to think you guys would have been together anyway.
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: If I never asked.
- 2:05:07Speaker 3: She is tough. We learned that, I mean, yes, we did.
