Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: Hello, welcome, and then you be at a no podcast, I'm Conoror, that's our Brear.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's always good, and I mean that's our cast play ever when you fall asleep at like 11.30, 11.45, and you've been waiting all day for information on John Harbaugh, and then it about, and then you wake up at like, so last night, um, I'd like to apologize to everybody I texted
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: last night my wife and I were like you know what kids have been grinding and you know swim and wrestling and all these activities I was like let's just all sleep until we wake up you know what I mean and then and then we can go to school late we do that sometimes because what's the big deal I mean what are we gonna miss like clapping and singing like that I've never done that before yeah because you know because I always ask my kids I mean one's in pre-K and one's in second grade it's like what do you do in between like
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, eight and nine that were buss in our ass to wake up for, you know, like, I mean, like, what, what time does math start?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: Cause like, let's get in for that, you know, everything, so we can kind of like, you know, the high five in the dance warm up.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we need to, uh, I don't think we need to get up for that.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: So of course, it like the one day we decided to do that.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we're all just out like a light and then you wake up.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: And there's just like 45 text messages and phone calls and you're like, God.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: damn it so here we are uh... with the top of our reaction pod and then a quick division will leave uh... division around picks uh... Albert i'll just start with this the janir on the giant's official now uh... my buddy art stapleton from the record had uh... had the details on the on the contract signing good for him uh... the giants had no choice
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: The Giants had absolutely no choice.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: They went after this like, it was like a prom puzzle.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like you're in front of the entire school, you're on your knees.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: You've got the roses and the doves.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: And if he says no, you're embarrassed and you can probably never date again.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so like this, this reminds me of the hiring Tom Kaufland in 2004, you know, where at the Marriott, they did that.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Is that right?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I know that story.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was like an airport Marriott.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: That was actually before I was covered in Lee, believe it or not, it was to really be nice.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't ages.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I, but it reminds me of that and that like, this is a credibility higher.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know,
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: we messed it up before.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to mess it up again.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Higher.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: This is a higher that's made with urgency.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I can take people through, if you want, like, a little bit of John Harbaugh's process, and we can kind of react to that, but I, yeah.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, so he's fired last Tuesday night, like, you know, as everybody knows, like, all the teams reached out.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, his process was really thorough as I had heard it was like he studied the organizations.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: He called people who had been fired by those teams.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: He had, you know, studied the rosters.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Study the quarterbacks at the point.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think we said this in the pot earlier in the week, like for the Raiders, he looked at tape of Fernando Mendoza and, you know,
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: and Dante Moore.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now Dante Moore is not going to be the draft, but like it was that thorough and that deep.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: And so, and he was talking to the team as while this was all going on.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so he was getting a better feel for them.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Merrah made the trip down there to see him, you know, and I think
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: the two things that I think were really important for John and you know like we're going to be determining factors, quarterback of course is important, but more than that he was looking for, he was looking for
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: alignment and commitment and alignment like what that means is that John Harba has a vision for what he wants a Baltimore look like and he's always like people make the mistake of thinking like he's just kind of this overlord and everybody else does their own he's his hands are in everything.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: No doubt, his hands are in the offense, his hands are in the defense, his hands are in the special teams like he has a defined view of what he wants his team to be doesn't mean that like people can't do their jobs, but like there's an overall vision for the team that everybody is executing and they were able to do that obviously at a really high level and Baltimore over.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: 18 years and so he wanted to go to a place where he felt like everybody would share a vision So there was that then there was commitment and anybody who's been around the Ravens organization knows they are Maniacally committed to being ahead of everybody else and you can see it in their building Which isn't actually all that new but it's constantly like among the best in the NFL They keep renovating it growing it and you know, they're analytics like
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how many people know this, like a lot of teams subscribed to the different services, right?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: The ravens actually have their own in-house system, you know, of analytics, like so, they are very, like they're just ahead of, they're ahead of a lot of people on a lot of different things.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so, like, you want to go to a place that was going to be that committed.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the giants were the fit all along.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like I really like, like I think just from a sharing
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: They executed Tom Kauff on his vision, you know, for better or worse, like since then, they executed been been macadies vision.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: They executed Pat Schermers vision, Joe Judges vision, Brian Dayball's vision, like they
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: that's not, that's never been like a place where everyone answers the head coach, but they're always all lined up with the head coach.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, right?
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like you never hear the head coach say, like, well, you know, he gave me a bunch of planners I can't work with.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's not been the Giants ever, you know?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: So there's that part of it.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, I think just as far as being in a place where you could work with the people, yesterday was really impactful.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And so he met with, um,
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: John Marra, Steve Tish, Chris Marra, Tim McDonnell, Joe Shane, Brandon Brown, Jackson Dart, he ran into Kim Scatabo in the trainer training room site.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's been hurt at somebody like that.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: So like I think you know it was just all this stuff lines up and Tennessee has a plane ready this morning to take Amy Adam's drunk Mike Borganzi and Chad Brinker to come and see John involved more and maybe that was the tell right like that they were traveling to see John were John was right the Giants.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: But the plan was to see Tenet to see Tenet see today and then either on Friday or Saturday visit with the Falcons and obviously John felt strongly enough because he had all the leverage here if you wanted to wait the giants are going to wait.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to mean like if he wanted to say like I'm going to go through this with the Titans and the Falcons like
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: they're going to let him do it.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like so he held all the cards and obviously he felt the fit was strongest there.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: And so the giants swing for the fences and connect and put one over over the left field wall.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: man, and I was kind of going, so I had to take off my conspiracy hat because clearly when the dolphins let go of Mike McDaniel, everyone thought that this was a hard-bought move, then they go higher, John Eric Sullivan, and then the dolphins, I mean, you could say they finish the distant fourth in the hard-bought competition, but like, were they even in it to begin with?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, I think so the dolphins, I would say, so,
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: The dolphins were never going to hire like, it's interesting because the dolphins, I think like, I think they were interested in Harbaw 100%.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: But the dolphins had this thing where they just, they weren't gonna hire like a parcels type of head coach.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think John was demanding that, right?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't think that John was, like I don't think it was ever John saying like, yes, like I have to have all the power.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: But if you hire John Harbaude as it become that, you know what I mean?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so like I think they wanted to talk to him, they did talk to him, you know?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I just maybe it was just like the timing because we know the Ross, we know Steve Ross's relationship with that family.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: Just as far as what the Miami's looking for, what horrible is, maybe just didn't match up, you know?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that was a big piece of it.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of Atlanta for John was the amount of respect that he has for Matt Ryan, you know?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I mean, I look, look, here's the reality.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's the New York Giants, you know?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: is like a student of the history of the game.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be surprised if that didn't appeal to John and some level, you know?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's another thing too that this is sort of interesting.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I'm just spilling it.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm not.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but, but, you know, I always told early on that the Raiders were out, the Browns, the Raiders, and the Cardinals were out.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought the Raiders, the reasoning I heard on the Raiders is interesting.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't want to be the same division as brother.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: You heard Jim say, right?
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: If we want to do this, like, dock connecting the wind horse thing or whatever.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: But you heard Jim say, at the podium last week, well, I hope it's in the NFC.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, and they were for all those years in separate conferences.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, so I went through the, but you're right, I mean, the reason that I brought up the Miami thing was I think we all thought that this was a Dolphins conspiracy to go after Harbaugh and then when everything lined up yesterday where we saw the Titans playing getting warmed up to go to Baltimore for Harbaugh, I think that set off some alarms like wait a minute, wait a minute and we really had that classic
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: romance movie pursuit where you have John Harbaugh in the facility for a day-long date.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: You have an early dinner.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: You go home and then he's on the way to the airport and you're like, wait, you know, and you're trying to get it done at the airport.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: He goes home and you're still negotiating over the phone through the night and then at some point, you know, between midnight and one o'clock in the morning eastern it became clear that Harbaugh was not going to meet with
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think this is a major win.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people are expecting a lot of dominoes to fall today, right?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: So this is 930 on Thursday, January 15th.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be surprised if by Friday we have a handful of head coaching hires just not the, um, just not just not the Steelers in the Ravens, right?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're still, you have to satisfy the rules.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: So the Titans have Titans have Titans to make their Titans have a very real clear interest in Kevin Stephansky.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: OK, I think they also want to go through it with Mike McCarthy on Saturday and then Robert Sala and John of Again and on Sunday.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: However, right.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a pressure point here?
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Does somebody else, is somebody else looking to get to fancy fansky, like an Atlanta or a Miami, like, and that's where like these things can kind of play out, like where it's like, if Tennessee is pushed now because, well, you know, like this team or that team, you know, and I think Kevin would probably be the next one, right, like after John, I think he's the appeal.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: So like, it feels like Kevin's gonna be the next
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: does it fall now or are we waiting another couple days you know yeah I mean Kevin's probably the big one and it's funny though the team that I was that was most interesting for me to talk about yesterday when I was reaching out to people around the league was the cardinals and the reason why the cardinals are interesting to me in all this hardboss stuff is you were Arizona
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: and you jumped into it probably like with a toe in the water because I think that they were lukewarm on getting rid of gannon in the first place, right?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you're not sure what you want to do, then you end up jumping in and part of the reason that you end up jumping in is because it seems like it's going to be a down cycle and maybe you end up getting a better candidate than you would have otherwise.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: Now, like there's nine openings.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah,
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Generously you're your eighth on the list and that's being nice like they're probably some coaches who like Cleveland better than Arizona And that's a team that if I'm them I'm coming out there and I'm making my higher soon now that the hardball thing is over just to make it not look like you've finished in last place And now I know that they like the Rams coordinators at least that's what I heard
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: So they might have to wait until their season is over in order to jump in here.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: But there is a matter of optics with some of these teams out.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: But we're like Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're the crown jewels of this.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be able to get whoever they want.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: People are going to wait for them.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: I would assume wait for that job.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Some of these other ones.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's like man, once the fireworks start going off and everyone scatters, like we don't want to be left with that.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, did it's partner here.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's weird to kind of go back to like what we were talking about with Miami,
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think of one thing that impacted Miami, I'm Mike McDang, you know, and this is where I think Harbaugh did impact it, right, was that like by the end of last week, the coaching market looked significantly different than it had at the beginning of the week and that you had to have a defense get out there, you had Harbaugh out there.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think for Miami, it was more
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, all right, like if we are going to move on from Mike, what are we moving on from him for?
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: And the idea of Harba was out there and I think had an impact on it, right?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: But it was it just as much like this looks like there might be some more options here.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and this looks like we might have a better, a better landscape than we had initially thought.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: football playoff start here and underdog is the best place to get in on all the grid iron action playing on underdog is easy just pick if your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like touchdowns rushing arts receptions if more
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: get them right, and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: This week on Underdog, we're moving into the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, and I like Caleb Williams for higher.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: Then two touchdowns.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: This guy is on fire right now.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's making some of the best throws that I've ever seen a quarterback make in the post season.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why wouldn't you roll with the bears and Ben Johnson?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: So what are you waiting for?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: Download the app today and use promo code MMQB to score.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: $75 in bonus entries when you play your first five dollars.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's promo code MMQB.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: Underdog.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Make picks win money.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: Now that Harbaugh is the head coach of the New York Giants, let's do a post Harbaugh landscape check post Harbaugh prediction very quickly.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: Let's run through them.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: for last.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: So let's go to Atlanta.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Kevin Savansky on this one.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I've been, I've been Kevin wire to wire on this one.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why I know that they, so I heard yesterday that they've been doing a lot of work on Clink Kubeyak.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: I know that they have been doing a lot of work on Clink Kubeyak.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm Savansky one Kubeyak two McDaniels three.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: What's say you?
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think Stephansky makes sense for them, you know, I sort of like, I still wonder if the Packers thing drags out if they call Green Bay map floor.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's, you know, let's see when the floor is the head coach of the Packers for the purposes.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because like I'm just saying like when you've already.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: taking your swing on somebody like, how about, do you reset, or do you try to take another big swing?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: Thinks defense, that's why I think defense, he's the other big swing.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Steve Fanski and that's where I was saying is I think Steve Fanski could have his options between Tennessee and Atlanta, what's better?
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Which I think comes down to your evaluation of the quarterbacks, right?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think it comes down to your evaluation of the quarterback, but I said this, um, I was on with my buddy, uh, Robert Mays yesterday.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, have you ever been to a country club in Nashville?
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I have, uh, just like, and it was by,
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: total accident.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like I was meeting someone there for an interview.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: And definitely wasn't dressed appropriately.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: But holy shit.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like you want to talk about like seeing how the other half lives.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like if you're Kevin Sefanski and you get to go play golf at one of these places.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: And like when I'm telling you it was like the nicest place.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I could remember the name of it.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I was interviewing the family of a Titans player who, um,
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: who were like oh yeah we're members here just come and meet us here like like someone like me would be allowed on the premises of a place like that normally yep and my god if you're Kevin Safanski walk into this place and it's just like okay well i'm just gonna live here like this is this is the best ever so i don't know but that would be my one two three um for them i i think Safanski kubiak um McDaniel and uh
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: I agree it first of fansk it comes down to Tennessee and Atlanta.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, let's go to Tennessee If I'm putting Stephanski and you can play this game to if I'm putting Stephanski and Atlanta I'm going with Tennessee Nagi one Sala two McCarthy three.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm gonna go
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Stephanski won, but we're taking them off the table, right?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you don't have to.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Stephanski won if he, if, if, if, again, like, I think him and Atlanta are both, like, Tennessee and Atlanta are both implied.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: Solitude.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maggie three.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's impossible that there's a scenario.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: We're saw as the head coach and Maggie's the O.C.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's impossible.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: What if I also mixed it up?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think Saul could wind up bringing Mike McDaniel.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: I do too.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that, like to me, is going to come down to timing here, right?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Because Detroit offers
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McDaniel, the job, that's a really hard job to turn down.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's a hard job, and I think Detroit's interviewing art Smith is obviously we're taping this.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, if Cleveland is, obviously, if Cleveland is, is in play here, right?
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if, if you want to get the head coaching job, then all of it's moved.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, like, with, as far as, like, oh, sea jobs.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: like it could come down to timing because solid doesn't meet with 10 to see until Sunday.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, if you're, if you're Mike and Detroit offers you the job, they're job on Friday, can you, can you, can you, can you can you turn down Detroit on the idea you could get, you could be going with Robert like that's harder to do, you know, right.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Um, Miami, I'm going, my amy's a mystery to me.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think that they could be an on the floor.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, if, if everything jars loose there.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: I have, so in my guess for Si.com, I did Clint Kubiak and then my two, three and four were some version of Sala Jeff Halfley, Mike McCarthy.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I mean, but that's, you know, Kubiak was kind of my number one for Miami.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Kubiak, I have heard Halfways interview really well, I rewars.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Halfways and Play down there, you know, not certain, but I think Halfway would be in Play there.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would probably say Kubeak would be the one for me.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: There is some crossover there too, you know, John Erick Sullivan works with Matt LaFlor, one of Matt LaFlor's mentors, Gary Kubeak, so there's that there.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: I, I think Clint's getting one, you know what I mean, like, I mean, he can't not, right?
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think it's getting one, I agree.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just hard to say where it is right now, but like Miami makes sense to me for him, because I think it lines up with what they're looking to build good young offensive coach, a guy who can come in and kind of, like it's not, you're not throwing out all the, the cool thing about it for them, I think, is like if you hire Clint, you're not throwing
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, like in a way, you've got a chance to advance some of the things that you've already done, which I think will be cool on the to it.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: Half Lee is from that tri, also.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: So Half Lee's worked for Kyle Shannon in Word, obviously, for Matt LaFluer now.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, and he's got head coaching experience, which I think makes him more appealing also.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: Half Lee's a really, I have one of the most interesting candidates out there in my mind.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: because of all the different experiences he's had.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't picked somewhere interesting here at the bottom and we'll see what you think about this one.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: So we got the Raiders now.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: My one, two, three.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: My one and two is some of you.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: I got like an off the wall one here, but I do too.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: So my one two is some version of either Davis Web with Cliff King's berries is offensive coordinator or Cliff Davis, very with Davis Web is as offensive
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think he has the presence, he has the personality to reach players like he's just a really unique guy and I think the people in Denver will tell you his football acumen is where it needs to be.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Davis would make a lot of sense for them.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: Clif, by the way, was almost hired.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: There are a couple of years ago under what have been under Antonio Piers.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, I think it would make some sense, you know, like if it was Davis Web, um, I think it'd be, it'd be a gamble of course, you know, like, but yeah, but if you, like, let's say you have Cliff there and again, I mean Cliff needed help to, uh, from the head coach.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: So you'd have to really nail your DC hire or maybe you make a push to keep Patrick Graham and.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you kind of get some stability on that front, but I mean, that team would need some help in terms of, you know, bringing in experience voices and and people have done the job before.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: Arizona Cardinals.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: Here's where I have halfway.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Because if like maybe all the all the pinballs fall to the point where, you know, he's not getting one, but then there's instability in Green Bay and maybe you take a jump at a job that, I mean, really isn't all that attractive, but I will say that since I made that prediction, I heard that they're really in on the Rams coordinators.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: I heard they like them, so that's the floor and match up with the floor.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: which is what we talked about before, you know, with their fascination with the Rams.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: So if I had to go one, two, three, I would go some version of La Flore slash, slash, half way.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: I have show us somewhere else.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: But like, I know you do.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think Mike, I think Michael Flore would be an interesting hire there.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Have they put in Perceo House yet?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: I believe they have.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: Um, because I've got to, I've got to, I've got to, I've got to, I've got the stuff like just all floating around my head.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: But like, she'll have to be an interesting hire for them, too.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think we talked about this like a month ago about like, that could be the place that takes the big swing.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: Half of it makes sense there, too.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, although like, can you sell the young defensive coat, sometimes that stuff can be a fact or you know, so I have another spot we go to nine with Cleveland.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: I have another spot for the young offensive coordinator or young offensive wonder kind and that's the Browns.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: I was initially going Schwartz Schwartz Schwartz.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I've been told I'm wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and, uh,
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Because at some point I was just like, listen, I don't think this guy is going to stay here and then listen to some twenty-nine-year-old tell him how to run the football team, right?
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: And they have to decide between keeping a Super Bowl caliber defense together or taking a swing on this guy.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Schwarz is that low on emotional intelligence, so honestly, like I probably don't give him enough credit on that front, but
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is where you go, and again, it's like, I think this is where they would want to go, but, you know, they would go some version of like McDaniel, you didn't ski, she'll house, like it's young, it's offence, and then let the shorts be the CEO, the defense, but are you going to be able to get one of these guys to take that job?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only thing you cannot, can you, can you?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can you can you keep shorts, you know, like cuz I don't think that that I don't think that's a lock either Yeah, I mean like I I just I mean If there's anybody who marches to the beat of his own drummer, it's Jim George, you know, I mean like so for him I mean, I I always saw that like I you know, Matt Burke is and I think like Matt Burke
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'd be perfect.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just don't think they haven't.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that Matt Burke like to me again, I know what you're saying.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I would, I would look at me Matt Burke and Arizona too, but like I do wonder if like Matt Burke or the LAM one, which it looks right now, like maybe he won't.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: But like if if Matt Burke were to land one, does he get Jim Schwartz to come with them?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: Because those two go away.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Jim Schwartz is Matt Burke's, you know, mentor.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that makes some sense.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: I had Matt Burke and my initial projections and then the slip hasn't come yet.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I was getting nervous and but who knows this look may maybe they know already right and they're just going through some of the preliminary stuff and, you know, who's to say that's not going to happen.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: We got Baltimore and Pittsburgh Pittsburgh first.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: I know who you're one is.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I look again like this is just something that I'd heard a couple of weeks ago and I like I I have it my head because it checks a lot of boxes.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at Chris Schuillan, you remove his last name for the equation like we said yesterday his background actually looks a lot like Mike Tomlins right.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: So like Chris Schuillan makes sense and I think he's a very serious candidate there.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: That said, nobody is like more actually bought in on what the NFL has tried to set up as a process for these things than the Rooney family.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think the Rooney family is going to go through a full process because of the way it worked out for them the last time, which was it led them to someone.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: who, and I thought Art Roney was very transparent about this yesterday, right?
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: You heard him say it.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, we're probably not hiring somebody from within, you know, because of what happened the last time.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, last time they went through a full process.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: They got to know some people and they found somebody who was completely off the board, right?
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like Mike Tomlin was not seen, who seen as a future head coach, but it was like,
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: really already after one year as the defense of coordinator in Minnesota and in a Minnesota team that wasn't even that good.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so I think like I, I like it, he like, like, crystal will make sense to me.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that there's going to be a full-on process there.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: this Marcus Freeman's packet for the right.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: We went through that yesterday, but you know, there's obviously going to be a ton of interest in this job because this is the sort of job that only comes open once in a generation.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: That leaves Baltimore.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: Can we really get out of here without saying Jesse Minner is going to knock it ahead coaching job or are you putting Jesse Minner
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, he just makes the most sense in Baltimore.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, man, you know, and I would say they're doing their homework on the young guys, though.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: They asked a lot of, they've, they've been doing their homework on the young guys.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: They asked a lot of questions about David's web.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: They asked a lot of questions about Nate Sheelhouse is that
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Is that where they're going or just kind of their curious about what's out there?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but I would just say that.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, again, like you're sort of marked by your experiences and Steve Bashadi and Art Rooney for excellent reasons to not have much experience doing this, right?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, right.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you that little woman to experience doing it, you've had a lot of success when you did do it, then maybe you're going to look back at your own experience and say, okay, like, this is how I got it right.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, Steve Ashadi hired a career special team scoach and he did it after like a couple guys who are the obvious teams at the time Jason Garrett Josh McDaniels pulled their names out of the running, you know, and so like I I would say if like that's your experience if Steve Ashadi then you're going to look at and say,
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to look under every rock, like I'm going to look where other people aren't looking.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: And so, um, mentor would be obvious.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Jess is a phenomenal headcoat for nominal football coach.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see about hey coach, but for nominal football coach, um, you know, I, I, I,
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if this is like where they double down on what they've already built or they try to do something new.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be the interesting point to me.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: Although you can say, like when John Harbaugh did that, right?
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: And went with fire, went Martin Dale and went with, with Mike McLean down it really worked out.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe this is another version of that for the Ravens, you know?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: very karate kids.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: There's those are very, very, very, very ominous, very ominous terms that I'm using for football coaches.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: We got four games this weekend.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's pick them real quick before we get out of here, Albert.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos Bills, who you got.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, I just want to let everybody know.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: I am six for six now on my bracket, right?
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: Holy shit.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: The racket that I spent 30 seconds on, right?
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm now six for six.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I would just like to let the public know that until further notice, I will be sticking to my initial bracket.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I got to see.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said earlier this week, Hard to Kill.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: Look, and I just think if they can get it to a point where I don't think the Broncos are going to blow them out, right?
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if it's just a 1613 game in the fourth quarter, I think the bills are really hard to kill.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think Josh Allen's really hard to kill.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: I.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: You're starting to get the feeling, maybe this is Josh's year, right?
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we'd all love to see him on the Super Bowl stage.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to go Buffalo.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we have Patriot stacks.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: You got, you know, pick an armor, you should show you.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: No, you're right, you're right.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'd buffalo go into the Super Bowl, but I've been up front about this.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: This is just what I want to see.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I have, I'm going purely by, like, I don't give it, because at this point, picking away, think is going to win, has not served me in any way.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: Even though I did win our staff picks this year, by the way, with a miraculous week-a-team turnaround.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, true.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I have the bills.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: Patriots Texans who you got.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: I got the Texans.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: Me too.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I. I think this is a close game builds Texans in the championship game.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and rematch of like the hook and ladder game.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_00]: I like, yeah, I.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: This text is deep and I mean, I, I, I'm going to get to see him play in person on so I can't wait.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: They, they are like, if you can get a B plus performance out of C J strad, I think they win the game.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I, and I have a ton of respect for what the Patriots have accomplished.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: Does this have something to do with me having picked the Texans in my initial bracket to beat the Patriots.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it does.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it doesn't.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: But I just see an improving offense.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: And an offense if you really boil it down,
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: If you take like the mistakes out, they know we're 400 yards against the Steelers.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: Unbelievable.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, Nico Collins is a big loss of course, but I think they find a way to scratch it out and advance the FC title game after two years of knocking onto that door.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, do you know DeMico Ryan's?
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, the only ones that I could find since 2000 who would wanna play off game in each of their first three years?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you might have seen this tweet from me, right?
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know who the, so it's three guys to me go Ryan's, you know who the other two are?
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: Who are?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: Jim and John Harba.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's good company.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so that's good company.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: Over on the NFC, I have a Seahawks Ram's rematch because again, that's what I want.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have the same?
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, okay, we're in locks up here.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I just think there's stuff that the Rams aren't showing yet.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they've probably gotten to this point.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think they can handle the cold.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, we just need a, you need an A plus performance from your secondary.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: This is a big, crucial game in that regard.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: But, and I think the 40 honors are just, it's just a little too gas, right?
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is a seven point spread in the divisional game.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that the NFL recognizes that too.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, markets, stuff like that.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I just think, I mean, honestly, like, I just, I have so much respect for what the numbers have done, but I just, I don't know how they're going to do it.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think the dates for that again.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: I loaded C-Ox team.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: And so I have the C-Ox outlasting and a really valued effort from the Niners with the League F them all so here and making them play on Saturday.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's crazy.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think screwed them?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys got back at 2.30 in the morning from Philly on Monday.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: There have to go in a short week against a team coming off a buy, and the other two teams are going Saturday to Sunday, it's just, it's BS, but anyway, I can leave that for where it is, and then I'm with you on the Rams, I just think the Rams, I still believe the Rams like ceiling is there, you know, a sloppy effort against Carolina credit for the Panthers for playing as well as they did, but
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just, I think this is, I think this is shaping up for a Seattle LA NFC title game, which should be fantastic.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking forward to it.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: Albert of B in New England this weekend, and then we'll be back on Monday to recap all the magic for you.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks as always, guys.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for listening to the emergency pods this week and
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: The madness never stops, and that's why this podcast just keeps going.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see you guys next week.
