- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No Guy Coach
- 0:03Huddle for January 8, 2026. A two-minute
- 0:06call from God's playbook to know him
- 0:09better so we can love and obey him more.
- 0:11So, let's hear today's play from Acts 8,
- 0:14which says, "Simon saw that the spirit
- 0:16was given when the apostles placed their
- 0:19hands on them and he offered them
- 0:22money."
- 0:23Simon the magician believed. He was
- 0:25baptized and he stayed close to the
- 0:27leaders of the church. From the outside,
- 0:29he looked legit. But when he saw the
- 0:32Holy Spirit given to the apostles, he
- 0:34offered the money. He wanted the power
- 0:36without the surrender. And Peter's
- 0:38response is sharp, sharp, almost
- 0:41shocking. Your silver go to ruin and you
- 0:44with it. Because in the eyes of God,
- 0:46your heart is cooked. Here's the lesson.
- 0:50External association with a church does
- 0:52not equal internal transformation by
- 0:55God. Baptism didn't save Simon.
- 0:58Proximity to spiritual leaders didn't
- 1:01change his heart. His problem wasn't
- 1:03knowledge. It was motivation. Simon
- 1:06wanted what God could do for him. But
- 1:08God is interested in what we will do for
- 1:11him. Man, this hits close to home. We
- 1:13live in a culture, even a church
- 1:15culture, that can quietly turn faith
- 1:18into a tool to influence, comfort,
- 1:21provision, and recognition. Christianity
- 1:24isn't a strategy for personal
- 1:26advancement. It's a death sentence to
- 1:28selfish ambition, and resurrection into
- 1:31a life lived for God's glory. Peter
- 1:34tells Simon to repent, to change how he
- 1:36thinks about God. Prayer cannot replace
- 1:40repentance. Spiritual leaders cannot do
- 1:42the work of surrender for us. Repentance
- 1:45requires active, not just emotion. We've
- 1:48been bought not with silver or gold, but
- 1:51with the blood of Jesus. Baptism is our
- 1:54public confession that we are dead to
- 1:56living for ourselves and alive to
- 1:58serving God alone. One today's play,
- 2:02check your motive before you claim the
- 2:04mission. Ask yourself, am I following
- 2:07Jesus for who he is or for what I want
- 2:09him to do for me? Do I want God's power
- 2:12or God's will? Am I serving for his
- 2:15glory or my benefit? Lay it down today.
- 2:19Repent where pride has crept in. Choose
- 2:22obedience that cost you something and
- 2:24offer it to God without expecting
- 2:26anything in return. Because real faith
- 2:29isn't proven by what we receive from
- 2:31God, but by how faithfully we serve God.
- 2:35If this huddle helps you know God better
- 2:37so that you can love and obey him more,
- 2:39leave a quick review and share with a
- 2:41friend. It helps other women find their
- 2:43way to the huddle review.
