The first gate we are presented with is the Sheep Gate. It is the first gate of 10 gates that gave access to the ancient city of Jerusalem. The work of restoration of the is gate and the adjacent section of walls was assigned to Eliashib and the Levite priests. Nehemiah 3:1 "Eliashib the High Priest rose up and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors."
