- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:02Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06where we left off with the Bill Gates testimony that
- 0:08he gave to Congress. Asking the questions now is miss Randall?
- 0:14Thank you, mister Gates. I'm Emily Randall from Washington sixth.
- 0:17I appreciate you being here and answering our questions, and
- 0:20I want to follow up a little bit on a
- 0:22question that ranking Member Robert Garcia asked to begin with
- 0:26about who the men were in Epstein's orbit that you
- 0:29may have seen or engage with at any of these meetings,
- 0:32and you said, you know that you didn't see anyone
- 0:34engaging an illegal or I listed activities, and you didn't
- 0:38want to cast dispersions of any of these men, which
- 0:41I understand. But I think some of what we've seen
- 0:43in our investigative work and in our conversations and in
- 0:47the files is that, you know, it became very easy
- 0:49for a lot of people to say that they didn't
- 0:51see anything, and that's part of how he continued to
- 0:54have such a long history of abuse. And so I
- 0:57just want to ask you if there are any other
- 0:59names or people that you haven't mentioned yet. You mentioned
- 1:03doctor Nikolch, Larry Summers, Jess Daley, Leon Black, Josh Harris,
- 1:07Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Pritzker were the other men that were involved,
- 1:11maybe not necessarily men that he was trying to introduce
- 1:14into the Global Health network. But folks in any of
- 1:17these meetings that we should ask follow up questions on,
- 1:21not saying that you're accusing them of anything, but to
- 1:23make sure that we're uncovering every stone in this work
- 1:26to find transparency and justice. Gates. Yeah, I believe that
- 1:30today I mentioned the name of every single individual who
- 1:33was in a meeting with myself and Epstein. And you know,
- 1:37beyond that, you know all these emails released in January
- 1:40have other names in there. I don't bring any personal
- 1:42knowledge to that, but you know, I'm here to help
- 1:44in any way I can. I can't think of anyone
- 1:47whose name I haven't mentioned that I knew had some
- 1:50relationship with Epstein. Miss Randall, thank you. And you know,
- 1:54Miss Stansbury asked about the woman young woman who worked
- 1:57for mister Epstein, and we've established that's some of these
- 2:00women who were employed by him were also being trafficked
- 2:03and abused. Whether you know, though he may not have
- 2:06been your knowledge at the time, I understand. I do
- 2:09want to ask because of my conversation with some survivors
- 2:12who were under age when they were pulled into mister
- 2:15Epstein's world. They have relayed to us that no one
- 2:18ever mister Epstein knew how old they were. But you know,
- 2:22no one in the room at parties, at events, at
- 2:24meetings ever asked how old they were. They assumed they
- 2:27were adults because they looked like adults. A seventeen year
- 2:30old young woman, you know, is not always spottable as
- 2:33a seventeen year old young woman. Just thinking about any
- 2:37woman who were at any of these meetings, who were
- 2:39working at mister Epstein's home, who were engaged in any coordination.
- 2:43Can you think of, you know, any young woman who
- 2:46we should talk to, mister Gates. No, the only thing
- 2:50I did with Epstein that was of casual entertainment nature
- 2:53was when he had David Blaine come over after we
- 2:56had a dinner meeting. And as I've said, as you've
- 2:59seen in the photograp there were two of the women
- 3:01around Epstein who were standing around during the David Blaine performance.
- 3:06But you know, you've heard from everything I know about
- 3:08the women around Epstein, and I'm sorry to hear that
- 3:11some of them were victims. Randall, thank you so much
- 3:15for your answers and joining us, mister Gates. Next question
- 3:19by redacted question mister Gates, did you ever meet Gallaine Maxwell? Answer?
- 3:24I met her one time. I was at a hotel
- 3:26restaurant and she and Ted Waite were there, and that
- 3:29was the one time I was introduced to her. Question
- 3:32one was that answer? It's a good question. She clearly
- 3:35had left time with Epstein and was with Ted Waite.
- 3:38Ted Waite is someone I knew fairly well because he
- 3:41created a company called Gateway that was in personal computer business.
- 3:45But you know, it was just a few minutes introduction
- 3:47because we happened to be in the same place. But
- 3:49other than that, I never met her. Question and that
- 3:56was simply an introduction rather than a substantative conversation. Answer,
- 4:00not a substantive conversation. No question. And was this during
- 4:04the period of your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or after? Answer? No,
- 4:09I think it was after, but we would have to
- 4:11dig out the date. Question and did miss Maxwell ever
- 4:15come up in conversations with Jeffrey Epstein. Answer never question
- 4:20did she ever come up in conversations with Melanie Walker?
- 4:23Answer never question? Okay, mister Gates. A few minutes ago,
- 4:28in a response to mister krishnil Morty's questions, you mentioned
- 4:32there were two skype calls. Is that right answer to question?
- 4:36Skype calls? Answer right question? And I think we discussed
- 4:40one earlier, which occurred on February twenty seventh, twenty fourteen.
- 4:44Is that right answer? Well, we inadvertently discussed it question
- 4:48sure answer because there was a question about February twenty seventh,
- 4:52twenty thirteen thing. And I accidentally saw February twenty seventh
- 4:57and said, oh, that meeting was a Skype call. The
- 5:00February twenty seventh, twenty thirteen meeting is in person meeting
- 5:04in New York. And the February twenty seventh, twenty thirteen
- 5:08meeting is a skype call. Question understood? And when was
- 5:12the second skype call? Answer? The second Skype call is
- 5:17May twenty first, twenty fourteen. Question and what was the
- 5:21purpose of that call? Answer? You know, everything in this
- 5:24timeframe is focusing on who are these donors? Is this
- 5:27going to be real? And so right after the second
- 5:30Skype call is when he suggests the names of people
- 5:33that we would end up meeting in September, which is
- 5:36the second to last meeting I had with Epstein. Question
- 5:39and do you recall the exact discussions of that call
- 5:42with mister Epstein? Answer? I do not. Question was anyone
- 5:45else on that call? Answer? Larry Cohen may have come
- 5:49for some part of the call, they go off the record,
- 5:53they're back on gates. Yeah. My note chow Larry as
- 5:56being on the first of the two Skype calls, but
- 5:58not on the second call. Question not on the second one?
- 6:02And I have in my notes, and I could have
- 6:04this incorrect, but I believe you testified earlier that it
- 6:07was the first Skype call was just you and mister Epstein?
- 6:10That's not true. Answer, No, the first Skype call Larry
- 6:14Cohen is part of that. Question understood? And who was
- 6:17on the second Skype call? Answer? It looks like just
- 6:20myself in Epstein question just you and Epstein? Okay? Why
- 6:24was this conducted over Skype? Answer because we weren't in
- 6:28the same physical location. Question why the sky platform? Answer
- 6:32of Microsoft owned Skype? Question did you suggest Skype? Answer?
- 6:36I mean, I'm capable of using probably several different video
- 6:40calling platforms. I don't think there's any unique feature of
- 6:43Skype that caused it to be used. You know, Subsequently,
- 6:46I've shifted ninety percent of my use to teams and
- 6:49perhaps ten percent to Zoom, so this may have. Indeed,
- 6:53the second meeting may have been my final Skype call.
- 6:56Question understood, And I guess the reason that I'm asking
- 6:59is because Jeffrey Epstein does have a demonstrated history of
- 7:03using Skype, and so my question to you is did
- 7:05he recommend that this meeting be conducted on Skype? Answer?
- 7:09I don't know. Question. Okay, mister adacted, we can go
- 7:13off record. Question, we can go back on record. Mister Gates.
- 7:17We briefly discussed your relationship or your one interaction that
- 7:21you recall with Glenn Maxwell during the last hour. Just
- 7:24to be clear, that's the only interaction with her that
- 7:27you recall. Answer, the only time I ever met her. Yeah. Question.
- 7:31She did tell the Department of Justice in an interview
- 7:34that she did with them last summer that she met you.
- 7:37It sounds like briefly at a TED conference. Do you
- 7:40have any recollection of that? Answer? Yeah, there was a
- 7:43Ted dinner with about forty or fifty people, and she
- 7:45was an attendee there. I don't know if I shook
- 7:47her hand, and I didn't have a conversation with her. Question,
- 7:51but do you recall that she was there? In general? Answer?
- 7:53I think she attended a dinner around the TED conference. Yes. Question,
- 7:57do you recall any other I'll call them interactions, but
- 8:00any other times you were in the same place as
- 8:02Glenn Maxwell, other than the meeting with Ted Waite, the
- 8:05brief meeting with Ted Waite and this very brief meeting
- 8:09at a dinner at a TED conference. Answer, as I
- 8:12say on the Ted thing, I don't know that I
- 8:15shook her hand. I'm not sure, but I didn't have
- 8:17a conversation with her other than those two times. No,
- 8:20I never met her. Mister Emer's asking questions now question,
- 8:25mister Gates, We're at a point in our questioning where,
- 8:28unfortunately I do have to make you repeat yourself just
- 8:30to make sure that the record is crystal clear. During
- 8:33the first hour, I believe you had mentioned that at
- 8:35some point you were invited to mister Epstein's island. Is
- 8:38that right? Answer? Yes, Several times he had issued an invitation.
- 8:42Question and approximately when you extended those invites. Answer we
- 8:47can dig through the emails. I don't know the timing. Question.
- 8:51And he himself directly invited you. Is that right answer,
- 8:53that's right question? And you rejected those invites? Answer that's
- 8:58correct question right? And as far as his other properties go,
- 9:02you've testified numerous times to have had dinners at his
- 9:05Manhattan townhouse. Is that right answer? That's right question. Have
- 9:09you ever visited his Paris apartment? Answer? Yeah, I talked
- 9:12about that one meeting I had there. Question What about
- 9:16Zoro Ranch in New Mexico? Answer never went there? Question
- 9:20How about the pom Beach home? Answer never went there?
- 9:23Question any other properties owned by mister Epstein? Answer no,
- 9:28it was, as you said, several meetings at his New
- 9:30York residence and the one meeting in Paris, and then
- 9:33the one time we flew together on a plane from
- 9:35New York to ponm Beach. Question, so let's talk briefly
- 9:39about the Manhattan town home. Did you notice anything unusual
- 9:42during your visits there? Answer? Well, I never went above
- 9:45the first floor. You know, there's kind of a fancy door,
- 9:48and then you go up some stairs and to the
- 9:50left is a room where we had dinner and most
- 9:53of the meetings, and then to the right is a
- 9:55large area I think he called his office area, and
- 9:58then there's a bathroom on that floor. And that's what
- 10:01I remember about the residence. Question, And there's been allegations
- 10:05that Epstein had cameras that he would use to blackmail visitors.
- 10:09Did you notice any cameras when you visited? Answer I
- 10:12did not. Question. During the committee's review of documents produced
- 10:16by the estate, as well as photos that had been
- 10:18released as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, this
- 10:22is my own characterization, but it seems that mister Epstein
- 10:25had an unusual creepy taste in artwork. Did you notice
- 10:28any unusual weird artwork when you visited the home? Answer?
- 10:33I know there was one thing he had that was
- 10:34a bit strange. Was it like Bill Clinton in address?
- 10:38That was one thing that it was Bill Clinton in
- 10:41address I think, which I think fits your description. Question
- 10:45did you ask him about that specific portrait? Answer? I
- 10:48did not question. And to be clear, did you notice
- 10:51any nude photos displayed at his property? Answer no, I
- 10:54mean the only two properties I ever saw were New
- 10:57York and the Paris one. And I didn't see any
- 10:59nude photos in either location. Question and back to the
- 11:03photo of Bill Clinton, where was that? Answer? I don't
- 11:05think it was a photo, honestly. Question or the painting
- 11:08excuse me? Answer? Yeah, the artwork that was on the
- 11:11wall inside his office. Question. Now, you mentioned that you
- 11:16visited the property in Paris as well. Did you notice
- 11:18anything unusual when you visited the property? Answer? I did not. Question.
- 11:24A couple of weeks ago, the committee interviewed Sarah Kellen,
- 11:26a survivor, and she said and mentioned that mister Epstein
- 11:30had a painting or a photo or a naked photo
- 11:32of her displayed at the property. You didn't see a
- 11:35photo of miss Kellen? Is that right? Answer? No, you know,
- 11:38I don't know the extent of that property. We went
- 11:40into this room or we sat in the excess food
- 11:43was brought to us there, but we didn't go to
- 11:45other rooms. All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right here,
- 11:49and in the next episode, we're gonna pick up where
- 11:52we left off. All the information that goes with this
- 11:55episode can be found in the description box.
