- 0:02SPEAKER_00: He's aiming to hit 300 new patients this September.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: He needs more dentists to do dentistry, but he's also looking for partners to open up other practices in the Houston market.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: More than anything, we're looking for somebody that's a deep connector with people.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: If you know how to communicate with people, then the dentistry and the money and all the other things take care of themselves.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of My Dental Playbook.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm your co-host, Gary Bird.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Today I am joined with Dr.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Blake, our co-host.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: But this is going to be a different episode because he has some opportunities for people just like you.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Most of our audience that are listening, this is the episode that you can sink your teeth into if you're looking to partner with someone like Dr.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Blake, which is awesome.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Dr.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Blake is actually looking for four dentists.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: He has multiple opportunities at his current office, not because they're sh, you know, he's leaving or anything like that.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: He's actually growing a new patient.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So he's aiming to hit 300 new patients this September.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And so he needs more dentists to do dentistry, which is awesome.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: So that's a great opportunity there.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But he's also looking for partners to open up other practices in the Houston market.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So I said, Dr.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Blake, let me just interview you on this particular topic.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And I think for our audience, if you're listening to this and you're a practice owner, you're going to learn something from this.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: You're going to learn something from Dr.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Blake and how he's looking for a dentist.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: But if you're listening and you're thinking about opening a practice, this is the episode that you might be able to partner with Dr.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Blake.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: So, Dr.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Blake, let's talk about these opportunities.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: What, what kind of dentist are you looking for in your office now where you're going to have 300 new patients, tons of treatment opportunities?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Like what kind of, let's start clinically and then let's start like, you know, the different uh types of dentists.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: You know, there's the business dentist, the entrepreneur dentist, all those kind of things.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: What, what kind of dentist are you looking for in your uh Hamlin family dentistry?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: We're looking for an amazing dentist to partner with us in our local market and maybe even potentially in other markets for us to open up more practices.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And we just got more new patients at our current practice.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: So we're looking for another dentist here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: If you're looking for an amazing opportunity where you can have as many new patients as you can handle, learn new treatments, tons of CE, mentorship.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: This is the place for you.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Dr.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Hamlin is looking for the perfect dentist.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: This sounds like you, reach out to us.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: You can DM us, comment down below.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: We would love to hear from you.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: What kind of dentist are you looking for in your uh Hamlin family dentistry?
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, first and foremost, I know you want to start clinically, but more than anything, we're looking for somebody that's a deep connector with people.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Um, I think more if you know how to communicate with people, that if you know how to connect with people, then the dentistry and the money and all the other things take care of themselves.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Um, so really more than anything, someone who's got really high EQ, can talk to a brick wall, uh, enjoys being around people, has great um relationships with other people around them.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Um just like the main thing.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the main thing.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the main thing.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, and then what kind of clinical opportunities will this person have?
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Uh the the world is their oyster.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Um our goal here is to help grow dentists into the best dentist they can be.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And for some people that'll mean doing implants and fmrs and uh full arches of of all on X.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: And for some people that'll mean being a great general dentist that does fillings and crowns and bridges and stuff like that.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: So what what we're trying to do is just build a a uh a stable of great dentists that can support one another, help each other grow, um and do all types of dentistry.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: You know, there's a lot of opportunities, especially in our market with the marketing that we're doing, to do a lot of emergency dentistry.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: So root canals, extraction, dung graphs, immediate implants, they abound here.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Um, you can do a lot of them.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Um, we also are getting more and more cosmetic stuff.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: You know, when you see 200, 300 new patients a month, you get a lot of opportunities to do some really cool dentistry.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: And then there's just a lot of just dentistry that walks through the door that needs to be done.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Fillings, grounds, um, just general invisalign, stuff like that.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: So the opportunities don't stop.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: If there's somebody here that's listening to this, like, hey, I I have the bread and butter dentistry stuff down, but I want to do this other stuff, but I just haven't learned, is that the right person for this job?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: And then they can learn how to do those other things, or what are you thinking?
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, totally.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: I I think up front we need people that um that are very competent in their clinical ability.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: People that know what they're doing, um, that don't necessarily have all the answers, but feel confident that they can walk into a room and do most of the stuff that in dental school that you got taught to do, right?
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Um I don't I don't think that you need to have already gone to the implant pathways or the CSIs and learned all of the things.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: That's kind of what we're here to help support and grow.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: But I do think having a good baseline and confidence really is is most of it, uh, that you can go in and deliver a great patient experience with great clinical outcomes.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: And when you merge those two, you have a really good future in dentistry.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that really helps us understand what kind of dentist you're looking for in uh your main practice that you're at now.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, you're also looking to partner with the right kind of dentist at some new locations.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Um tell me a little bit about that.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: What what would that person look like?
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: The beautiful thing is is it's the same exact person.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: We we um when I when I think about even our own team, we want the same person.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: We want the person that can communicate well with people, that that work well with others, that have a high uh a strong worth work ethic that you know mediocrity isn't necessarily what they want.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Like if they're not excelling, they're not performing, period.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Um, so when we're even looking at what is a second location or uh other locations look like, we need strong producers, we need strong communicators, we need people that can uh lead and grow other people.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: And even as an associate here, that's kind of what you'll get to do.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: You help lead and grow our assistants, you help lead and grow other doctors, you help and lead and grow our hygienists.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: You have a lot to offer, there's a lot of skill there, but why would we not use it?
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And so the beautiful thing is that at the end of the day, our goal would be that we're all kind of intermingled and can help and replace one another.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: So when one wants to go on vacation, the other doesn't suffer.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Does that make sense?
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Yep, yeah, definitely.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So what would if you do open a new location with a an associate dentist, is are are you looking for somebody who wants to partner right away?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Are you looking for somebody who doesn't want to partner, who just wants to work in it?
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: What what are your thoughts on that?
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: I think there's a lot of different paths that can work.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: I think um having a partnership track is something that we have and is actively being built out.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: But I also think that defining what success looks like for for those individuals is is the key to success.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Understanding is this a clinical doc that just wants to grow clinically and like their version of success is going to Pinky and going to do all these extra CEs and really getting good clinically?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Is this a financial doc who like would actually be more incentivized by just producing more dentistry than they would by having uh responsibilities outside of the operatory?
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Um and so for me it's building building what that success looks like because when people are satisfied by their needs and feel fulfilled by what they do, they typically are happy and they don't do anything, they don't go anywhere.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And so you're looking for multiple people like this that um to kind of pick your own journey, which is cool.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And I love I love the flexibility of it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: If you want um the opportunity or the burden, depending on how you look at it, of having more responsibility, there's an opportunity for that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: If you just want to come and do a lot of dentistry, there's a lot of opportunity for that.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: So this is going to create a massive opportunity for multiple very fortunate dentists that um, if you are the right fit for these uh these kinds of opportunities, come and talk to Dr.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Blake.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: And the cool thing about Dr.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Blake is he will take your phone call and he will sit down and uh tell you about these opportunities, and you'll know right away if you are uh the right fit for what he's doing.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: If someone's hearing this and they live in another part of the country and they're like, man, I live in Tennessee or I live in California, um, or I live in Idaho or wherever, and they're an associate dentist, and they go, but but this seems like the right opportunity for me.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Marketing's figured out, the growth patterns figured out, the markets figured out.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I come in and do the dentistry and potentially have a partnership or not.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Um, should I move there for this?
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: What would you tell them about like the Houston area and just like living living where you live?
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I grew up in Texas, so I believe that it's the best state in the world, and so you should get here as fast as you could.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Uh but outside of that, Houston's great.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Um, the people here are awesome.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, I grew up in a different area of Texas that you couldn't necessarily go to the grocery store and what you were wearing uh to the gym.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: But here in Houston, we welcome all different types, and you can do whatever you want.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: And I really enjoy that.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I'm a more laid-back type of person, so uh it really attracts um people like me.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: But um, there's literally I mean, we're the like fourth largest city in the country.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Like you there's so many things to do, multiple a lot of people don't realize that whether it's like New York, Los Angeles, uh, Chicago, and then Dallas and Houston are the next two biggest cities.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: There it's a m it's massive.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Like it's a huge city.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's huge.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: And we're so close to other really cool cities like Austin and stuff like that that you can go do day trips or stay the weekend uh if you felt like you needed to leave.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: But um what I would also say is just just come down.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Like we have we have people in our office all the time shadowing, learning, um, coming and spending the day, coming and spending the weekend, um, get to know one another, go to dinner, really learn.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Like, I I really just enjoy learning different styles of dentistry, learning what other people are doing that's successful.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: And so if you ever want to just come and hang out, like you're more than welcome to come check out the office, right?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, and that's for owners too.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Like, if you want to just my mentor, I've talked to him about or I've mentioned him in the past, um, Dr.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Lathrop, that he did that all the time.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: And he had an open door policy.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: He'd have people flying in from different cities and states coming in just to learn like, how are you building out this office that seems so different?
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, and I was just blessed that that office happened to be 45 minutes from my house.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: And so it was easy for me to get to.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: But uh, he he made me make a promise one time that uh in the future that I would just pay it forward, and that's where I'm at now.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: So I'd be happy to do that.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Well, this is uh this is a great uh episode, great opportunity for somebody out there, and uh we're gonna be talking more about this.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking to grow, if you want to do amazing dentistry or you want to build a practice, uh, this is the opportunity for you.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Feel free to reach out to me, Dr.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Blake, uh, either way on social media or DM us, um, or leave a comment.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: If you want to leave a comment, we'll reach out to you.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: We'll see that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: So thank you, Dr.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Blake.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Anything else that we didn't cover?
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: I think that's it.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: We're we're growing like crazy.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: Um, lots of need here.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: And so we're really excited for what's in the future.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: And um, like Gary said, if if there's any interest in chatting or getting to know kind of what we're doing, how we're doing it, what what makes the magic happen, we'd be happy to have those conversations.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Peace.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
