- 2:16is going to join us to talk about that a little bit later later on.

- 2:23things blue and gold, there's a big event happening on Saturday, and we're
- 2:25going to talk to a member of the wv U Kanah Valley Alumni Association about
- 2:30that coming up a little bit later on as well. I got a breaking
- 2:32the news story here I need to put out here. It's actually happened last
- 2:38night, and we will have more available on it at wv Metronews dot com
- 2:40at WCCHS Network dot com, but WCCHS Television no relation. Eyewitness News reporting
- 2:49that Charleston Police Chief Scott Dempsey confirmed it to them that the investigation into Ty
- 2:53Kunt, former police chief, was complete and that he is currently suspended.
- 2:59That is a Chief Dempsey. He did confirm that the investigation wrapped up earlier
- 3:02this month, and that ty count suspension started on Monday. Now, Chief
- 3:08Dempsey could not confirm how long the suspension would be. Kind of breaking news,
- 3:13as I said, just reported by eyewitness news television, no relation.
- 3:16And Jeff and the crew will have more on that coming up a little bit
- 3:19later on. And welcome into the show. Greg Thomas, Republican strategiest Hey
- 3:23man, good morning. How are you going fine, buddy? How are
- 3:27you? I'm doing well? So what's uh, what's new with you?
- 3:30Busy? Is there something going on with you know about it? Busy man?
- 3:34There's you know, a lot of campaigns have been going for a while,
- 3:38right, I mean, I think a lot of your you know,
- 3:40sort of the bigger races that have been been pretty active kind of immediately after
- 3:45the legislative session, and now you're seeing kind of stuff from a lot of
- 3:49the county wide level races and delegate races, and obviously, you know,
- 3:54people have been seeing the governor stuff for a little while governor's race stuff.
- 3:58But yeah, really, busy man, I think it's going to be It's
- 4:01weird, you know. I I I think the interest level in this year's
- 4:05election is very high among people that follow politics, you know what I mean.
- 4:12So I think I think there's a lot of activity, especially on the
- 4:15Republican side to where you're you're going to see, you know, I think
- 4:19that's going to keep the turnout up. But I do think there are a
- 4:24lot of people that are just so disaffected by this stuff going on in Washington
- 4:28that you know, they're just kind of thrown their hands up and it's like
- 4:30why I even do this? You know. So I think we're going to
- 4:33end up with sort of a medium level turnout because I think you're just going
- 4:39to get like people that are even somewhat interested in politics are going to be
- 4:42going out. So I think it's like sort of high on that end,
- 4:46but on the other end of like you know, well should I even go?
- 4:50And the fact that you know, neither of the presidential races, you
- 4:53know, the presidential races are over to you know, so there's like not
- 4:57a reason to go vote for Trump other than the sort of the sentiment,
- 5:00right, And I do think there's a lot of that. I mean,
- 5:01you know, we hear it. You know, we do a lot of
- 5:03door to door and we hear it. You know, people say that like
- 5:06I'm going to vote for Trump. You know, even though it doesn't matter
- 5:09if they go or not, you know they're going to vote for Trump.
- 5:12So I think, you know, so, I think you're gonna see pretty
- 5:15pretty good turnout. I'm gonna get a little preview of something that's going to
- 5:17happen next hour on talk Line Top of the show, and you don't want
- 5:19to miss this Hoppy segment. One we'll have on Rex repass of Research West
- 5:24Virginia with the results of the Metro News West Virginia poll and the race for
- 5:28the Republican nomination for governor. I don't know what those results are. I'll
- 5:31be listening like everyone else at ten oh six as Hoppy and Rex will break
- 5:35all that down again. That's Top of the Hour, next next hour,
- 5:39ten oh six. But Greg, most polls have shown most more seeing the
- 5:44lead, kind of a flip flop on some between more Capito and Chris Miller
- 5:46with Mike Warner and fourth. My takeaway though, as I said yesterday,
- 5:50is and we're a month away from the election, man undecided is still in
- 5:55second place, and I know a lot of West Virginians still haven't made up
- 6:00her mind yet. And the and the and the Republican race for governor.
- 6:01I would say that in a poll, I would say, if you took
- 6:05a there's different ways to take a survey. And that's why, you know,
- 6:09people will say, well of these polls so different. And one of
- 6:12the reasons is you can ask a poll and just be like, all right,
- 6:15here's the four people running who you're going to vote for? Right,
- 6:16And if you just do that and say, okay, well I picked I
- 6:19pick A, B, C, D, right, and then other polls
- 6:23like really force him. It's like, well, if you had to pick
- 6:26today, I mean, just tell me a name, which name, you
- 6:28know what I mean, and they sort of force you into a ballot if
- 6:31you don't have live callers that are really forcing somebody into a decision. Undecided
- 6:36is the winner right now? You know? And so it really is.
- 6:41It still is up for grabs, obviously more season. You know, has
- 6:45been in a commanding position the entire campaign so far. Look, he's been
- 6:49around for a while. You know, he ran, he's been the attorney
- 6:53general, he's run statewide several times. You know, he ran for US
- 6:57Senate and lost a mansion. Uh, you know, so his name,
- 7:00My idea is very high. No Obviously, not everybody that knows him likes
- 7:04him, which is why he doesn't have a commanding, you know, overwhelming
- 7:08lead, but he certainly has a lead. And you know, Chris Miller
- 7:11has come on. You know, obviously he was in fourth on January first,
- 7:15and now in most polls he's second, you know, and he's he's
- 7:18really coming on strong, and he's running a very aggressive campaign, not only
- 7:23to promote his own stuff, but to go after Morrissey. And then you
- 7:27kind of have vice versa. Yeah, yeah, and he's coming in some
- 7:30I mean, if you would think if you turn on your television at least
- 7:32right now and into some point radio, if you turned it on, that
- 7:35there's only two people in this in this race, and that's that's Miller and
- 7:39morris and those two are going at it. And so when the packs are
- 7:42too, yeah, well the packs those campaigns have the most resources by far.
- 7:46I think I think more capital is kind of sitting in a position where
- 7:49obviously, you know, long time, you know his his family has been
- 7:53involved in politics for a long time. There's a certain amount of people just
- 7:55know him. He sort of covers that niche of the party where these are
- 8:00kind of fighting all over the hardcore conservative votes and he's sort of over here,
- 8:03you know, kind of on the more moderate side getting his votes.
- 8:07And then you know, I'll say with Mac Warner. You know, I
- 8:11ran David McKinley's congressional race all the way back in like twenty ten, and
- 8:15that also was like a there were like five people in the race, but
- 8:18it was really similar. You had McKinley and that ceremony are going after each
- 8:22other, and Mack was just kind of sitting there like floating off in the
- 8:26middle while those two backed up each other and was kind of coming up the
- 8:28middle. And so I think that's sort of where Moore is. I think
- 8:33that's sort of where Mac is. So we'll just see. I mean,
- 8:35you know, I will say, I look, you know, Chris Miller's
- 8:39ads have been really, really, really good, and I think that's what's
- 8:43gotten him close. I think his his energy level is very high, you
- 8:46know. But look, there's there's a lot of people that like all four
- 8:48of these guys. Yeah, you're right. Yesterday, Greg the presumptive Democratic
- 8:54nominee for governor Huntings and mayor Steve Williams, said in a statement he's actually
- 8:58on hoppy yesterday he wants the governor to place a constitutional amendment guaranteeing access to
- 9:03abortion and reproductive health care on the agenda for an upcoming special session. The
- 9:11statement was by Mayor Williams. He said, and you know, from a
- 9:15pr standpoint, this was actually pretty good on his part. He said,
- 9:18his words, I'm calling on Governor Justice to follow former President Trump's lead by
- 9:24putting a constitutional amendment about abortion on the call for the special session. In
- 9:28quote. Now, the former President Trump, of course, is angering a
- 9:33lot of Republicans at this point by saying that he would not sign a federal
- 9:39a federal abortion band if he were to be elected this year. He says
- 9:41it should be left to the states. Williams puts out this statement that says
- 9:46he wants it on the call for the special session. Your thoughts, Well,
- 9:48I mean, I think when you leave it up to the states,
- 9:50it doesn't mean you leave it up to like a popular vote, right,
- 9:52I mean you leave it up to the sure that is the governing body.
- 9:56So yes, I don't I think that's a misrepresentation of what Trump said.
- 10:00Look, I think, you know, Williams, is you know, taking
- 10:03advantage of an issue that was in the news because of something Trump said.
- 10:07You know, essentially, up to this point, nobody you know. I
- 10:09mean honestly, I hadn't heard of anything about Steve Williams in like two months
- 10:11until you brought that up. So, I mean, he just kind of
- 10:13he didn't have to do a whole lot. It doesn't have to and you
- 10:16know, so I think it's just something you know, you look at it
- 10:18and say, hey, you know, what can I say here? Uh,
- 10:20that does two things for him, right, I mean, it kind
- 10:22of fires up his base a little bit. You know, they're obviously the
- 10:28you know, the Democratic Party, you know, wholeheartedly want to say wholeheartedly,
- 10:31but the majority of the Democrats support abortion, and then I think,
- 10:35you know, it just kind of gets them in the news a little bit.
- 10:37I mean, obviously that's not something that's going to get done. I
- 10:41think the legislature did exactly if you if you were to take a poll when
- 10:45West Virginians say where are you on the abortion issue? That's where the legislature
- 10:50put their legislation. Right, the majority of West Virginians won a ban on
- 10:54abortion with those exceptions, right, rape, incests, life and the mother,
- 10:56all that stuff. And that's where you know, if you take up
- 11:00and I know that because I've seen those balls, you know, so I
- 11:03know that's what it would say. That's where the legislature landed. You know,
- 11:07I would be hard pressed to think that we move from that position anytime
- 11:11in the next decade or two. Leads story this morning, Greg wv Metronews
- 11:16dot com. The governor going at it again with legislative leadership. The governor
- 11:18yesterday said more could be done to help storm victims from last Tuesday storms.
- 11:24Had the legislature agreed with a fifty million dollar allocation that was in his proposed
- 11:30budget, Now send a finances chair. Tar responded by saying, quote Governor
- 11:33Justice is either dumb or plane dumb end quote Tar also along with House Speaker
- 11:39Hanshaw, who Roger Hanshaw issued to State Me yesterday too, saying pretty much,
- 11:43the governor can already do what he wants to do with his contingency fund
- 11:48and he doesn't need to help with the legislature. I didn't see that one,
- 11:54So I mean, I think this is you know, look, you're
- 11:58always going to have this sort of tension between you know, what the governor
- 12:01can do. Look, I'm sure if those guys said it. I'm sure
- 12:03the governor can do that stuff. And I'm sure if the governor said it,
- 12:07he wishes the blood the legislators had given him more control. You know,
- 12:11everybody wants to have more control and more power and more flexibility with how
- 12:13they can do stuff, and and and that's the tension you have. Even
- 12:16even with an overwhelmingly majority you know, republican state like we have, you're
- 12:22still going to have those you know, policy differences among them. So I
- 12:26you know, look, I don't know the specifics of this, uh,
- 12:28but I'm sure you know, maybe just brought you know, bringing this to
- 12:31the attention. Make sure that these storm victims get the things they need.
- 12:35I'll tell you what. Man, you know, we had a little damage
- 12:37at our home. I'm just minor, but we were doing some door to
- 12:41door up in Saint Albans and the man of the more you got to the
- 12:43top of the hill, especially like U's Road and stuff like that, it
- 12:46was really bad. I mean there, like I knew there were trees down
- 12:50and stuff. I mean there were people who slocked their homes. I mean,
- 12:52it's just the trees were right down in the middle of it. It
- 12:54was It was terrible. Man. I really really feel for those more effective
- 12:58today. Yeah, that was something else. Look, you know, I'm
- 13:01sure these guys will figure it out. Get these people help, because it
- 13:05certainly was a tough situation. Let me get to this before we get to
- 13:09the break, and I'm I'm gonna have you stick around after the break.
- 13:11I don't know if you've been following this whole controversy around state senator and candidate
- 13:16for AG Mike Stewart. The Mingo County Deputy Sheriff's Association issued a support letter
- 13:22for Mike Stewart and his race against J. B. Mccusky for Attorney General.
- 13:24The widow of Sergeant Corey Maynard in the State Place that's a trooper who
- 13:28was killed in the line of duty last June, feels that Mike Stewart has
- 13:31been using her husband's death for campaign purposes. The Deputy Sheriff's Association of Mingo
- 13:37County, who put out that letter, later rescinded the letter. Now,
- 13:39Stewart said, and he brought this up Monday night you're into debate with JB.
- 13:45McCuskey that's held at West Virginia State. He said the letter was fake
- 13:48to begin with, and that they only issued that in order to rescind it,
- 13:54to make you look bad. That's what Stewart says. Stewart then goes
- 13:58on the X the Hots formerly known as Twitter yesterday morning and alluded to the
- 14:01fact that if he were elected, he would be closely looking at corruption in
- 14:07Mingo County, saying something like well, I've got to start somewhere, which
- 14:09drew the ire of a lot of people saying that Mike Stewart, if he
- 14:13wins, is threatening to politicize the office. Look, anytime there are and
- 14:18look, I'm involved in a lot of campaigns, a lot of judicial campaigns,
- 14:22a lot of you know, campaigns around attorney general and things like that.
- 14:24And I'm friends with jb and and Stuart and have been for a long
- 14:28time. I would it's very dangerous to get to bring up specific cases in
- 14:35these in these races, right, Like, you just don't know all the
- 14:39details, you don't know how everybody's going to feel about it. What her
- 14:41take is is that it could threaten there's the trial is in September. Yeah,
- 14:45and she says that he's put out information out there that's not been made
- 14:48public. Yeah, you've got to be really careful with that kind of stuff.
- 14:50I mean, we do that with Attorney general's kind of issues all the
- 14:54time. Heck, we have you know, we had a West Virginia Kala
- 14:56radio ad talking about some of the you know kind of litigation and lawsuits and
- 15:01stuff that Morrissey had filed. But it's really tough to get in unless something
- 15:05is like done and you have a specific you know, product of a you
- 15:09know, here's what happened in the case, here's a judge's order, here's
- 15:13the final sort of you know, here's the final say. Unless you have
- 15:18that, you got to be really careful about how you handle those situations.
- 15:20And you know, I look, I don't you know, I like both
- 15:24these guys. I don't like seeing the back and forth there. But you
- 15:28know, my advice and sort of my perspective on that is, if something's
- 15:31not all the way done, I just I just wouldn't mess with it.

- 18:17is with it, Gregor. I want to talk about a group that you're
- 18:18a part of, West Virginian Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse CALA. If you prefer
- 18:22KALA. There was an article that came out earlier this week in the West
- 18:26Virginia Record, And I'm just going to read from the article. It says,
- 18:30quote, a conservative legal reform group is calling out the re election campaigns
- 18:36of two longtime circuit judges for receiving a bulk of their contributions from personal injury
- 18:41attorneys. One of those judges listed was Judge Ronald Wilson in the Northern Panhandle
- 18:45and can As Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey. Now, as it pertains to Judge
- 18:48Bailey, we'll focus locally here. The article, Greg talked about fundraisers held
- 18:53by Judge Bailey and some TV ads run by According to the article, and
- 18:57according to the press releases, uh, the ads are funded by a group
- 19:03of liberals out of Texas. The group is taking issue with the amount of
- 19:08money coming into both campaigns by personal injury attorneys. I guess the question,
- 19:15Greg, is is this common for personal injury lawyers, many of whom advertise
- 19:22on this station. So nothing against injury injury lawyers, is it? Is
- 19:26it common for them to get this involved in judges races? Local? Right?
- 19:30Yeah? I mean they they they are pretty big, you know,
- 19:32the personal injury lawyers are pretty big donors to campaigns, uh, and have
- 19:37been traditionally they're seeing a lot of that again this year. You know,
- 19:41I do have to add the caveat here, like because you know, Jennifer
- 19:45Bailey's opponent is I'm engaged to Ashley Deems. So I'm like, I was
- 19:49gonna throw that out there. Yeah no, no, I'm so I'm not
- 19:52like I'm not allowed, Like I'm not that I didn't have anything to do
- 19:55with that. I can't have anything to do with their statements about her and
- 19:57all that, and I you know, I can't kind of specifically to that
- 20:00race. But look, you know, the personal injury lawyers have played a
- 20:06big role. I mean they you know, you know, go all the
- 20:07way back to two thousand and four. I mean they put in millions of
- 20:10dollars for for warm or for Darren McGraw or no War McGraw, and so
- 20:15it is something that they you know, that they put a lot of money
- 20:18in. I don't, you know, we haven't. This is really the
- 20:22first year you've had competitive circuit judge races, you know what I mean.
- 20:26And so I think that's uh, you know, so I think that's sort
- 20:30of a first. I Mean, they've traditionally given to those. I mean,
- 20:33I don't think giving to those campaigns is out of the norm. Uh,
- 20:36giving to this level is a new thing. And I think part of
- 20:40this is because we don't you know, you don't have you know, you
- 20:42have two state Supreme Court races. It don't even have any opponents, right,
- 20:45I mean, you know, Charlie Trump and Haley bun don't even have
- 20:48opponents, right, So that's you know, so you're seeing a lot of
- 20:51attention on the circuit court races, whether there's you know, uh, there's
- 20:53you know, there's a big race up in Morgantown, there's one in Wheeling,
- 20:56there's you know, a couple here locally. Uh, there's a big
- 21:00one out in Grant County with my brother, my buddy, Judge Robert Ryan.
- 21:06You know, so you have some across the state. So I think
- 21:07it's you know that that's a new thing, you know that we're seeing.
- 21:11And another new thing too is the you know, the you know, these
- 21:15races are non partisan, but the West Virginia Republican Party had come out and
- 21:22made endorsements recently too. Yeah. Yeah, Actually I was taking a look
- 21:26at at some of those that they they have issued the Republican Party, the
- 21:30non part This is available on their website by the way I'm looking at it
- 21:33now. It's a non partisan judicial candidate information and it is a list of
- 21:37those from around the state for Supreme Court Circuit judges on down that that they
- 21:42are I guess endorsing. Uh yeah, I think they they they did.
- 21:47They put together like a sub committee that sort of looked at these, you
- 21:51know, non partisan races, you know locally. You know, you had
- 21:55judges like Judge Dyer and Judge Ashley up in that Jackson Roan that got in
- 22:00orsements. John Hoover out in Putnam County got the Republican Party endorsement. Uh
- 22:04here in Kanall County. Uh, you know, some of these don't even
- 22:07have opponents, but you had you know, Stephanie Abraham, Mary Claire Acres,
- 22:12uh you know, uh, Dave Hardy got endorsements. And then a
- 22:17couple of the contested races here Ashley Dean got the Republican Party endorsement. Eric
- 22:22Cantrell got the Republican Party endorsement. So, you know, so you got
- 22:25some first here of you know, of the you know, and I think
- 22:29it really is just you know, you used to have a lot of activity
- 22:32at the Supreme Court level, and now that you don't have that, you've
- 22:34got a lot of activity at the at the at the circuit court level.
- 22:40And then we have a competitive intermediate court race here. That's the first time
- 22:42that you know, this is you know, that's a newly created court.
- 22:45It's the first time we've ever had that. You've got three people in that
- 22:48one. Former State Republican Party chair Elgen mccardal is running. Unsurprisingly, she
- 22:55got the State Republican Party endorsement. Ryan White, who's a local attorney for
- 23:00Board of Education member here in Kanawah County, is running a big campaign and
- 23:03has got a lot of resources. And then and then I think there's that
- 23:08Michael Schultz from Charleston is running as well, and I don't know much as
- 23:11much about him. He's been on the show in the past. He was
- 23:15on the show a couple of months ago. But here's the thing I think
- 23:17I find very interesting, Greg, And this is just kind of where we
- 23:19are right now. I have one of the biggest races in Kanawh County is
- 23:22going to be for magistrate and there's like, oh my gosh, there's eight
- 23:27people. I was going to bring that up, man. I mean,
- 23:30you know, you go, we go to a lot of these county level
- 23:32events. Man, there are just so many of them. It's not something
- 23:36I ever really paid attention to, to be honest. And now that i'm
- 23:38you know, we're doing a lot of this county stuff, you see it.
- 23:41But there really are so many of them. I mean, my phone
- 23:44rings off the hook with people you know, want and I try to make
- 23:47time available for them. But here's the thing about it. I always ask
- 23:51if I have somebody that's running for judge, for magistrate whatever on the show,
- 23:56I always have to ask them, what is your political part? It
- 24:00shouldn't matter. But if I don't, I get texts from people saying,
- 24:06why why didn't you ask them what their party you know, or whatever.
- 24:08So these races and you'll say and neck. You can see it in and
- 24:11Ashley's ads. It run out there, right, It's every time you mentioned,
- 24:14hey, I'm a you know, I'm a Republican running in the non
- 24:17partisan race for whatever, right, Like it's it's something that they that you
- 24:21have to do. But I will tell you, if you're out there campaigning
- 24:25and you you know, you don't lead with it right. It's like,
- 24:26oh, I'm running for whatever judge or they're running for magistrate. They're you
- 24:30know, they don't want to get into it. But the voters, just
- 24:33like your callers, they want to know. It's the first thing they ask
- 24:37Google Search to find it out. Anyway. Well, they say you're allowed
- 24:41to say. You just have to say, hey, I'm a Republican,
- 24:44Kan, I'm a Republican, but I'm a non partisan. Right, this
- 24:45is I'm running in a non partisan race. And I think that's fine to
- 24:48do. But it really is, you know, it really is what voters
- 24:53want to know about. Yeah, all right, I me knock out some
- 24:56text here for you, because you always get text. Uh Texas. Greg's
- 24:59organizationation West Virginians Against a Lawsuit Abuse has been pulling that, putting out horrible
- 25:03ads against Morrissey. How can you be objective when you obviously are against Patrick
- 25:10Morrissey. Why are you doing that? Great? Remember, I don't think
- 25:12you asked were asked to be a objective. Why would anybody think I would
- 25:17be? I mean, I ask you one point on this show. So
- 25:19when somebody, I think the last time you're on, somebody said, who
- 25:22is Greg supporting for governor. And you said, anybody but Patrick Morrissey.
- 25:26That's what you said. You don't have to be objective. It's a weird
- 25:29thing. You know. I'm not. You know, I am a political
- 25:32consultant. I do this for a living. I lobby, I have government
- 25:33relations firm, I do business consulting. But it's not I'm not getting paid
- 25:41by eddy of the gubernatorial caid. I mean, look, I think,
- 25:44I mean, look, I think the caller. I would have a point
- 25:47if, like I were getting paid by a certain campaign, right, if
- 25:49I were getting paid by a campaign just like just look, I just talked
- 25:52about court races, but said, hey, I can't specifically get into details
- 25:56of this because of my relationship with Ashley, Right, So I would have
- 26:00to do that. If I had a profet. That's a personal relationship.
- 26:03If I had a professional relationship, I would offer that up as well.
- 26:07I don't have one in that race. I do feel like I can be
- 26:10as objective as I can be as a voter, right, I mean,
- 26:12I'm still you know, despite the fact that I'm a political consultant, I
- 26:17still have like rights, right, I still have the First Amendment still applies.
- 26:22You're actually a human being. Yeah, yeah, I questionable at times,
- 26:25but you're actually a human being. Yeah, Tex says the judicial hellhole
- 26:29reputation of West Virginia is a lobby effort from wealthy business owners trying to jam
- 26:33the people's access to the court protecting businesses. Why not highlight that people being
- 26:38able to access the legal system. It's not a bad thing, despite what
- 26:41a well funded lobby tells you. Try some skepticism, Dave. If if
- 26:47the business okay, let's say let's say that that's let's just take that at
- 26:49Let's just say that's true. Let's just let's go let's give this person.
- 26:52It's not entirely true, but let's say that's let's just say that's true.
- 26:56If the business community comes out and says, this jurisdiction has really unfair courts
- 27:00and we don't want to be there, should that matter? Should that matter?
- 27:04Right? Like, if you're if you're somebody that's looking for a job,
- 27:07if you're somebody that's trying to grow the economy, if you're somebody that's
- 27:10doing that, and you've got a national business organization or a national legal reform
- 27:14organization that has business members and healthcare provider members, and these are people that
- 27:18create jobs and take care of folks and do all that stuff. And they
- 27:22say, your court systems really really unfair. Should that matter? And the
- 27:26reality is it should very much matter. And one of the reasons that West
- 27:30Virginia was in fiftieth for so long was because we had a terrible, broken
- 27:34legal system. We had some of the highest taxes in the country, you
- 27:40know, with the respect to the you know, the the labor union bosses
- 27:42had total control of whatever they wanted, and we were dead last forever because
- 27:48of those greedy, power hungry people. That's a reality, buddy, that's
- 27:52a reality. And there's no PR. You don't need to you're the ones
- 27:56that liberals are the ones that need a PR campaign to try to say that
- 27:59was in our fault. All the people that have dried, died of drug
- 28:03overdoses and everything that's happened in Kanawa County because we've had a terrible economy and
- 28:07all the things they've done to it. They're the ones that need a PR
- 28:10campaign to cover up the damage that they've done to our families. Tex says
- 28:15greg Republicans and conservatives think life begins a conception. How come we don't hear
- 28:19them pushing for changing the tax code to include the children in the womb as
- 28:22dependents. Also shouldn't guaranteed prenatal care be offered if the government is forcing women
- 28:29to give birth. I don't know about I mean, I don't have any
- 28:36idea about why the tax thing would. I don't know. I don't know
- 28:38the details of the tax thing. I'm assuming this is a Democrat that's called
- 28:45in to try to lap in me on. I just don't know. I
- 28:48mean, I I don't know the answer to either of those. Tex says
- 28:52Chris Miller is the man born on third who thinks he hit a triple Look.
- 28:56I mean, I don't think. I don't think Chris would deny that
- 29:02he was given an opportunity that most people haven't been given. But I also
- 29:07think that would be a gross overstatement to say that he hasn't done a lot
- 29:12with that business and tremendously grown that business and as a successful business guy.
- 29:17You know, I know Chris really well, and I don't I don't think
- 29:19there's any time he'd be like, oh, you know, I you know,
- 29:23I was born in a ditch and look at me, now, you
- 29:26know what I mean? Well, he does kind of pain himself as an
- 29:29outsider. I mean, that's kind of what he says, I'm an out
- 29:30and yeah, he's never he may have been even may have never run for
- 29:33office. But let's face it, among these four people that are the Republican
- 29:37none of them are outsiders. It must be really honest. And it's like
- 29:40Trump saying he was an outsider. Trump was not an outsider, and he's
- 29:44stretched to the imagination. He may have never run for office, but he's
- 29:45been around politics his entire life. He was Trump was never an outsider.
- 29:49Where is Chris Miller nor the other three? That's not a knock against him.
- 29:53Knowing me, I think, but look, I think it's just I
- 29:56haven't run for office again, right, I mean, I think there are
- 29:59people that look at it and say, hey, I want somebody in there
- 30:00that hasn't been in there, right right, you know what I mean?
- 30:03So I think you generously, you use a generous interpretation of the word outsider.
- 30:07All right, me knock out a few more than before we let you
- 30:10go. Texas. Trump is saying things to get elected. His only solid
- 30:14position is not having a solid position and saying things are immediately beneficial to his
- 30:21goals. Tex says, if Steve Williams is listening, Steve, if Republicans
- 30:25are going to use the government to force birth's campaign on getting phoenises the same
- 30:27tax status as children and guaranteed prenatal care, even more, guaranteed health care
- 30:33for children of all economic statuses until they're eighteen. If Republicans are pro life
- 30:37and pro children, make them reflect it in their policies. I think there
- 30:44are definitely things that I think if the party is going to do that,
- 30:48there are things that we can do to improve on that. I mean,
- 30:52I know what, I know what they're getting at, and I know they
- 30:55were, you know, kind of trying to trip me up with that earlier
- 30:56question that I just couldn't answer, But I don't. Here's what I'll say.
- 31:00I don't totally disagree with the point they're making, though I really don't.
- 31:04I mean, I do think there are things. I think there's solutions.
- 31:07Though always are like, well, you're going to make us have these
- 31:10kids, give us a bunch of money, right, And it's like,
- 31:12I'm not a socialist, right, I don't think that's the answer. But
- 31:15I also I do think we have to do things to help those people and
- 31:19help those women and help those young families, right, Like, there's a
- 31:22middle ground of oh, hey, uh, I'm going to be pro life,
- 31:29but I'm so libertarian I don't want to help anybody, and well I'm
- 31:32not pro life, but if you're going to force you know, if you're
- 31:33going to force these young women to have the children, then you need to
- 31:37do everything for them. There's a middle ground there, man, and I'm
- 31:41in that middle ground. Most people would agree, and I'm in that middle
- 31:44ground. So I you know, so I know they're they're trying to kind
- 31:45of get me with a couple of specific questions and that I'll say, this
- 31:48just isn't an issue. I you know, this is an issue I do.
- 31:52I follow politics, so I'm aware of some of it. So you
- 31:55know, honestly, to the callers that are trying to trip me up on
- 31:56it, I don't I'm not with you, but I'm also not against you.
- 32:01Like I think that there's something And what I would say to those callers
- 32:06is, you know, look, these are some of the issues that I
- 32:07would bring up to Republicans and kind of instead of like tripping them up and
- 32:10like pinning them to the wall on it, I would say, hey,
- 32:14you know cause you know, if you just say, well, you need
- 32:15to do everything for him, I'm immediately going to go I'm not going to
- 32:17do everything for anybody. But what are some of the things you know?
- 32:21Why don't you off? You know? I think this is a situation where
- 32:22some of the Democrats could offer up some positive changes that we could work on
- 32:30together to do that, and I encourage those those those ideas. Good way
- 32:34to leave it, Greg, I appreciate you being here, man, Thanks
- 32:36a lot. Hey, thanks for the opportunity. Twenty minutes away from Tim

- 36:49Saturday afternoon at four points by Shared and sponsored by the WVU Alumni Chapter of
- 36:53the Greater Knaw Valley. Eric Arnold's the president of the organization and joins now
- 36:57Eric, good morning, welcome to the show. Hey Dave, how are
- 37:00you great to be on this always? Thanks for being here. So what
- 37:02you got going on on Saturday? Dude? So this Saturday, we're happy
- 37:07enough to be teaming with the wv men's soccer program and head coach Dan Stratford.
- 37:14Dan if the name simps familiar was the hand coach at you see in
- 37:19twenty seventeen. In twenty nineteen when they won the national title. So and
- 37:25last year WD men's soccer went to the final four well at Schoenbaum Field that
- 37:31Coonskin Sunday you see and West Virginia men Fucker are having sort of like a
- 37:38celebratory but competitive ex edition eleven AM. It's part of that Saturday four to
- 37:47six DM. We're sort of having a welcome home sort of celebration with the
- 37:53entire WD men's soccer team. Will have players three for autographs, pictures,
- 38:00raffles. It's sort of a borders and then we will have a cash bar,
- 38:07but it's open to all ages, free for admission. It's sort of
- 38:10a state in the program. L Dans sort of addressed a lot of the
- 38:15people that have helped them get to this point from Charleston and a lot of
- 38:20the Mountaineer faith for or friends of the program. Even if you're a Marshall
- 38:23fan or a EC fan, you're welcome to come because this is more of
- 38:29a celebration though, but you see soccer at sun Raft to stay through the
- 38:35you meant soccer team is Dan? Right? Yeah? Really cool time and
- 38:39Eric out and again this has happened at four points by Sheridan on Saturday afternoon
- 38:43and it's free to the public, open to all ages. Uh and space
- 38:46is limited. We're going to give you information on how to get in on
- 38:49this coming up little bit later on. But you know, Eric, I
- 38:52will have to admit it. I am not the biggest soccer fan in the
- 38:53world, but soccer is really exploding in popularity. I guess the US is
- 38:59an maybe West Virginia's catching up with the rest of the world, particularly here
- 39:02in the Mountain state. And you mentioned the success of not only the WVU
- 39:07soccer program but University of Charleston, my alma mater, Marshall. I mean
- 39:12it's it's it's a huge, huge event here in West Virginia now and a
- 39:15huge, huge, sport. Yeah, it is, and you know,
- 39:19I think it's really sort of goes back and I know I'm at WPU guy,
- 39:23but I grew up in Charleston first and I've seen it that you see
- 39:27program really uh, it's leadership and the coaches that have developed through that program,
- 39:35you know, and we have a national champion of Marshall WV you got
- 39:37to the final four last year and the UC is continuing to do great things
- 39:43and it's really an incredible story of you know, what consistency and development of
- 39:50one community around one program can do throughout a state of number team players get
- 39:54drafted from WVU into MLS. They had three first rounders, which was the
- 40:00most last year. And then also, you know, and when you think
- 40:05about it, you care about it, nil and donations and things, and
- 40:09well, that's so much they're going to be talking about Saturday. Your investment
- 40:14and your time into something like a soccer program can go a lot further than
- 40:20maybe football or basketball. So and they will have an opportunity to speak on
- 40:23that and where the program's going. But it's a really exciting team for this
- 40:29program and them and Marshall are in the same conference. Yeah, yeah,
- 40:35Dave Alan showing five Eye Live is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan

- 40:45information posted eric on my social media sites about this event, but where can
- 40:50people learn more? And some space is limited they need to sign up.
- 40:52What do they need to do to kind of make sure they have a place
- 40:55there Saturday? Yeah, what you handle that? I think the way to
- 40:59do you can get to our Facebook page which is WV or Alumni a greater

- 45:00For years, West Virginia had the most unfair legal system in the nation.
- 45:04Our state was on the Judicial Hellhole list thirteen times in a row.
- 45:07And even though our legislature has made major improvements in legal reform, Attorney General
- 45:12Patrick Morrissey risks all of our progress. Patrick Morrissey has teamed up with greedy
- 45:16personal injury lawyers to sue local job providers. These lawsuits hurt jobs, increased
- 45:22consumer costs, and even threatened broadband expansion. In one recent case, personal
- 45:28injury law firms were paid one hundred and fifty one million dollars. Our state

- 46:23seconds when we saw an outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes here in the Kanal
- 46:28Valley. They keep adding to that to the number because of the research and
- 46:31whatever we said, Uh, something that really hadn't seen before once in a
- 46:36lifetime event well apparently could be happening again today. Meteor Olives is Brian Hughes
- 46:39from Storm Tracker thirteen. Brian, does it feel like you're back in Texas
- 46:43or back in the Midwest again? Dude? I listen, I thought,
- 46:47Wow, this is really like me living my glory days back in Texas for
- 46:52sure, because you don't have back to back week events with severe weather around
- 46:58here. But here we go. It's a we're just going to do it
- 47:00again, all right. So I know the weather is a moving target constantly,
- 47:06and you and Spencer and Chris and of folks do a great job,
- 47:07but as bad, worse or better than last week. Listen, we know
- 47:14we're gonna have the individual thunderstorms developed this afternoon and then some of those week
- 47:19clusters, and then some of that develops into a line. We don't believe
- 47:22we're going to have anything like what we had in last week, but we
- 47:28still are going to have some a few tornadoes in the region when GUS will
- 47:32be an excess of you know, fifty miles per hour in some cases,
- 47:37and we could have a line developed that might have a few more embedded small
- 47:42tornadoes in it, similar to last week. But we don't expect an event
- 47:45like last week where we've had fifteen confirmed tornadoes across you know, Nashvillether's services,
- 47:50Charleston's area. But yet at the same time, you know, we
- 47:54still there's still more to count from that event. So we I said last
- 47:59week, I said, I promise will be up over fifteen. We are
- 48:01at this point. So you know, today is just going to be is
- 48:05going to be active, and it's really gonna start to get this actor act
- 48:07together somewhere around two to three o'clock this afternoon, all right, And that's
- 48:10what everybody wants to know. People. Somebody once told me when in broadcasting
- 48:15school and college, they said, people don't want to know whether it's going
- 48:17to rain. They want to know whether it's going to rain on them.
- 48:21Uh, that's all they really care about, is what this is. And
- 48:22I'm guilty as anybody else. So you're looking at primarily after two o'clock and
- 48:27the end time should be nine o'clock or so, is that what you said?
- 48:30I you know, it could be as late as nine. But if
- 48:32things are shaping up the way some of the latest forecast model runs are happening,
- 48:36a lot of this could be wrapped up somewhere around seven, between seven
- 48:39and eight. But I think the sweet spot for us in the Canal Valley
- 48:44is going to be somewhere between four and six. You know that that'll be
- 48:49the sweet spot. But you know we're going to watch those things developing,
- 48:52especially we see the forecast models are really locked onto thunderstorm's trying to develop around
- 48:57Pike Full, Kentucky, and anything that develops in is gonna move northeast essentially
- 49:00just right at Court or g So you know, once the first one fires
- 49:06off, you know, we may be on the air for you know,
- 49:08two three hours if not more, as we go into this afternoon, this
- 49:13evening. With the long range forecast I saw for next week, it's looking
- 49:15pretty darn good for next week. So we're just gonna kind of be focusing
- 49:20that way, right, Yeah, exactly. Listen, next week's one of
- 49:22those weeks where you're like I could sit down on a patio every single day
- 49:27and be happy as a clam. And so yeah, next week we'll get
- 49:29to eighty degree temperatures. But today all hazards are on the table, and
- 49:32that does actually include today flash flooding possibility, but also you know tornadoes are
- 49:38possible a line of storms. Yes they'll do damage, Yes we'll be power
- 49:43out of just do we want it last week? No, But listen,
- 49:45we just got to roll with the punches here, all right, Ryan.
- 49:47I appreciate you being here, man, you and Spencer and the team.
- 49:50I'll do a great job and hopefully we won't talk to you soon. How's
- 49:52that? That sounds good? Tomorrow Tomorrow morning, you'll know how bad it
- 49:57was. Whether I'm wearing my glasses or not. That's a that's a telltale
- 50:00sign if you got the glasses on. It was a long night, all
- 50:04right, Brian. I appreciate it, man, Thanks a lot. Sounds
- 50:07good. All right again, it's Brian. Huseme storm track at thirteen.

- 51:13to put out social issues on the people, it's Steve Williams. So well,
- 51:15it could be argued that he did yesterday. I mean, you know,
- 51:19but I understand understand what the I think. Look, I think I've
- 51:23said that. I think the next governor that the say to West Virginia,
