- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to Online Business Uncovered.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: This is episode 180, and in today's episode, we're going to talk about why you can know exactly what you need to do in your business, but still find yourself not doing it.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Click up right in and let's get started.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Online Business Uncovered.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: The title is the later on what a weird card on your phone cover.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I'm your car and online business.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Karen, and I really do appreciate you hitting that play button to listen to today's episode.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Now, have you ever had one of those moments in your business where you know it's telling what it is that you need to do?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: But for some reason, you just don't do it.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've been meaning to learn something, put yourself out there, start selling your offer or take the next step for something, but instead you find yourself procrastinating, overthinking, or maybe even finding a hundred other things to do first.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I think we can all experience this at different points in our business, and it's very easy to assume that we just need to be more disciplined or more motivated, or perhaps we just need to learn another strategy.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: But what if there is something much deeper going on?
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Now in today's episode, I am joined by transformational coach, Master Holistic Practitioner, Deb Dowdy.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Deb has a really interesting perspective on why we can know consciously what we want and what we need to do to get there, but still we find ourselves behaving in a way that ultimately holds us back.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: So during this conversation, we talked about self-sabotage, procrastination, and of course the unconscious belief that can influence our behaviour and why simply knowing what to do is just not enough to create change.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So if you've ever wondered why you keep getting in your own way, even when you genuinely want to move forward, then I think you're going to find this conversation really interesting.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: So let's dive in and let's get started.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Now, throughout this special series, I'm chatting with our speakers to give you a sneak peek into the knowledge that they're going to be sharing and more importantly to help you discover practical ways to build a business that gives you more income, more freedom, and less reliance on selling your time.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: So let's dive in and speak to today's speaker, Deb Dowerty.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Did I get it right?
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Dowdy, amazing.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: You're Doughty.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Um now, Deb is an amazing transformational accelerator.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: She's a master holistic practitioner and an international speaker.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Now try saying that when you've had a few drinks.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Deb, thank you so much for coming on to today's show.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Um, do you want to start by just telling the listeners who you are and what you do?
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: So thank you because obviously I'm very honored and uh it's a privilege to actually be here.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: So you already said my title, and I would not um I would not invite anybody to try to say that three times after having a drink or two.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: But you know, much of my work actually centers around the unconscious mind and human behavior.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Um, and I actually have my board designations in being at the master level of NLP, which is neurolinguistic programming, timeline therapy, hypnotherapy.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: I'm a hypnotherapy um trainer, and I also have certifications in like positive psychology, mindfulness, and other holistic um modalities, really.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, part of my journey, to be quite honest, is what I discovered through my own journey and working with clients for almost over 30 years.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I can't even believe it came out.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Like 30 years now.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Is knowing that, yeah, it is.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I and I love it.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it just feels like it's yesterday, you know.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Um, but is that the knowing of what to do and actually doing it are two totally different things, you know?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And um personally, and you can hear my voice like dip a little bit, but I've actually had family members that have struggled with mental health issues, and I've saw a lot of um, a lot of people suffering in life and business, and they just they don't have to.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: And I believe sometimes people get so stuck in their patterns and their conditions and their worldview of things that they just don't know how to get out of them, right?
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: So I wanted tools that were actually gonna assist them for the lasting changes and have it quick, not just something that was putting a band-aid on something, but literally getting to the root causes of things.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: And I always have this saying because shift, shift, s-h I F-T, shift happens, you know, and I actually became very fascinated what is actually going on beneath the surface of people's beliefs, their patterns, their fears, the the meanings that we give it to the behaviors that we are um exuding, right?
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: So today, in essence, is what I'm doing is I liberate entrepreneurs and individuals by identifying and changing those patterns that they have underneath, and we rewire those on an unconscious level so they can actually stop to self-sabotage and move towards what it is that they truly want in life.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: And what I'm always gonna say is that everything we want in life actually flows from mastering what's happening beneath the surface, Karen, because our unconscious patterns are often driven by the bus, if you get what I mean, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the strings that are being pulled pulled underneath.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: It's so interesting, I think, the work that you do because it's all about the internal, isn't it?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: And a lot of the time in business, it's about external results.
- 7:22unknown: Absolutely.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: We want to grow a business, we want to increase our revenue, we want to do this, we want to do that.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: And a lot of the times to get there, we we look at the external results and the external behaviors it that's needed in order to achieve whatever it is that we're looking to achieve.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: But something that I've come to learn in the work that I do today is a lot of the results that are uh achieved externally are of often driven by what goes on inside.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: So whether people believe they can or they can't, and and then those barriers that are put there because they're telling themselves stories that might not necessarily be true, but it's what they've come to believe is true.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Believe or learn.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely, and it and and it's such a mindfield, isn't it?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Because very much we all have very different experiences in our lives, we all have very different relationships with people, and and we our beliefs and our and and our behaviors often stem from things that we've learned, or we've learned to be true, or we've been told, or so it's like it's such important stuff, but how do you even go about unpacking it?
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Because humans are very complex beings, and there's a lot of things going on beneath the surface.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, I see that with the people I work with, so I can imagine that in the work that you do, it can probably be a real mind field.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it well, it totally is.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: It it's it's and it's so outside of people's awarenesses that they don't even know that it's holding them back, or that's really what the issue is.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: A lot of times we think the issue is what we consciously think it is, and it's not, you know, the the stories that we tell ourselves, the the conditions that we have, right?
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: The beliefs that we have, the BS that we tell ourselves.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: And the BS is actually our belief systems.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: And everything when we're telling ourselves stories, and we get into a state that we get into, well, it also is in our body, in our physiology.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: So our physiology, the state that we get into, and the stories we're trying telling ourselves are internal representations, our IRs, that drives behavior.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: And then our behavior is what gives us the results or not.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And what is actually happening, Karen, is underneath all those behaviors, we have strategies that are running underneath in your unconscious mind that are driving the bus, pulling the strings.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: So it's definitely a process and it's something that can be done pretty quick.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: It and change doesn't have to be hard, but it does come from awareness and being able to, let's just say, master the states that we get into.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And again, like I said, because shift does happen, you know, and I know we're gonna talk a little bit about procrastination and things like that too.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: So even in the context of that, you know, one of the biggest misconceptions around procrastination, because I'm gonna talk about this in the summit, you know, one of the misconceptions really is some people think that procrastination means they're just lazy or they're unmotivated, they're undisciplined, right?
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: And that you need more willpower, let's say.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: It's it's people are not actually procrastinators, they actually have a habit of procrastinating.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: It's a pattern that they have on a repeat, right?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: So with entrepreneurs, like specific entrepreneurs, and often they think like consuming more uh information, you know, doing another course, another strategy, another, you know, whatever.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: That information really is not necessarily the problem.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: It's they often know what to do, Carrie, but they're not doing it, right?
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: There's something underneath that they're perceiving like the next step is risky or something for some reason, like fear of failure.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Um, it could be judgment, you know, rejection, visibility even, like, oh my gosh, now I'm really gonna be seen, right?
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Um, uncertainty or even like fear of the success, right?
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: So I teach people instead of asking, like, what is wrong with me?
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: I teach people to ask, what is the behavior that's trying to protect me from?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes for pre like procrastination specifically, it's not a time management problem, it's actually a self-protection problem.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: People don't people like right?
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, have you ever thought about it that way?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I haven't, but I but when you're saying that, I'm there have been times where yeah, I've been in that state of procrastination, and often um it's because I there's a discomfort I feel I feel towards the thing that I'm procrastinating about.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So, like you say, you know, it's like you're staying safe, aren't you?
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: All the while I'm not over there doing the thing, I'm I'm safe over here.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: And I think to a certain degree, because I because what what when I'm in a create state of creativity and I'm creating something, sometimes I need time out to think about it, and then I'll be like, Am I procrastinating?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: And and I've come to realise that no, I'm incubating the idea.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: I need time yeah, yeah, but but there have been times when 100% because I feel uncomfortable, I'm over here doing something else because that's my safe space, and I know, and I've spoken to so many business owners over the years that you can see it, you can see the fact that they're just not doing the thing that's moving the needle because it requires them to get uncomfortable, and nobody wants to be uncomfortable.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Nobody wants to be uncomfortable because you know, our our our brain was meant to protect us, right?
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: The amygdala is, you know, the the tiger was running after you, right?
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: So the adrenaline came and you had to run.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Well, we're not back, you know, in caveman days.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: We're back with, you know, what is actually a warranted response or what's unwarranted response, right?
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: And it's just a matter of it's a matter of shifting what it is that we're focusing on.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Because whatever it is that you do focus on is what obviously you've heard us before, whatever you focus on grows, right?
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: However, your perceptions become your projections.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: And like when you were saying, like, am I really procrastinating or am I not?
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Sometimes you're staying in in the zone that you feel safe in, like you said.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And it's also sometimes we stay into what our strengths are.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: So if I'm strong in doing these particular creative tasks, but I'm not so much in these other things, well, you know, we have to have that mind shift, you know, the mind shift of, okay, maybe I'm not so great at those things, but what is the next best step that I can do right now, right?
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think so.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: I think it's having that awareness, like you say, of how you're showing up and your behavior, which if if you are taking time on something and you want to kind of sort of move towards something in a more gentle way, is fine.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: But I suppose if it's stopping you growing your business or doing things that are going to move the needle, then I suppose it becomes more of a problem because you're not doing that thing that you need to do to really kind of shift the things that you need to shift.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I mean, I see it a lot when we talk about procrastination.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: I see it a lot, as I said, in the work that I do, because I'm asking people to back themselves in their idea, and it doesn't matter how much they validate and prove and evidence, they're still having to get uncomfortable by learning new skills and then feeling like they don't have a guarantee that it's gonna work at the other end.
- 15:38unknown: Right.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Or sometimes, you know, right.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And and I'm sure you even find, uh, and I'm sorry for for you know just jumping in there, I'm sure you find even, you know, people um dealing with imposter syndrome, right?
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, not expert enough.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Who am I to do this?
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: You know, who's gonna who's gonna yeah, who's gonna take notice of me?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Who's you know, that those really come out, don't they?
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely they do.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: And again, it's all coming down to what's the meaning that we're giving behind these these thoughts, right?
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: Our and what we focus on and what we think about.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: Um it becomes it becomes our projections of things.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: And it's it's usually never about the person, the place, the situation, or the circumstances.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: It's always about the focus and the thoughts around the person, the place, the situation, and the circumstances.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: That's what it is, and whatever we focus on, we give life to.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: You know, and we can focus on, we can focus on, you know, whether uh, you know, all these good things, or we can focus on what's not so good, right?
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: And uh you and I were having the conversation earlier, we can either be running from something or we could be running to something.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: So which would we rather, which would we rather, even though it might be uncomfortable, right?
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: And uncomfortable a lot of times comes down to fear, fear, and and everybody probably has heard the the um what fear stands for, but I'm gonna give you a different thing.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: So, fear a lot of times people have heard it as false evidence appearing real, okay?
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Actually, that that is true, and I do believe that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: However, fear is also it's undirected imagination.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Undirected imagination.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: It's again the stories that we're telling ourselves, and we're not we're not narrating the story.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: We're allowing these internal representations to take over and us go like down the rabbit hole.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: So if we learn that fear is just undirected imagination and we need to say, Well, cancel, cancel, what do I get to focus on right now?
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: How do I get to show up into what I'm getting ready to go do?
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Right, what are my next best steps right now?
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Right, even if it's only for five minutes just to get that momentum going.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: If it's for ten minutes and then you have to take a break, it's to get the action to go.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: I think I think the problem is though, when you are trying to do something that is say new for the first time, um, or something uncomfortable, um you can end up focusing on step 10 as opposed to just the next step, like you said, the next best step.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: And I think you tend to jump, don't you, and be like, well, you know, how do I get over there?
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: And it's like, well, actually, you need to focus on just being here, right, and just you know, taking the step next step to move forward.
- 18:49unknown: Yeah.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Um yeah.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: So what's one of the biggest mistakes that you see entrepreneurs making um when it when it when it comes to kind of growing their business and with their behavior?
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Is there sort of something that you see play out a lot?
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, it it's really what um I'm gonna bring us right back to what we were just talking about a little bit.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: It's really the procrastination end of things.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: People think like they are a procrastinator, but they're and and they they actually have to have these other things to do, right?
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: They need one more course, they need one more this, they just need more motivation, they they need more willpower.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: And that just stops them and they get overwhelmed.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: And another point really is um I see you actually just said it indirectly.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I see people looking at the big picture of their goal, and they're looking at all of this, the vision that's down here at the big 30,000 foot overview, and they get so focused on that, which causes a lot of times overwhelm.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: It causes overwhelm, it causes confusion, it causes indecisiveness versus coming back to and almost like um you know, working backwards, coming back to right here and now, and what are my next steps that I get to do right now to be able to move myself forward instead of going through all of this.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Because when you keep focused on all of that, that's where anxiety can come up in your body too.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: And you create stories, the whole what ifs and oh I'm not good enough, or you know, what if nobody buys my product, or what if I put all time and energy into this and they like, who is this person?
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: You know, so so it's it really is that and it's it goes down to people like being stuck in their own, they just get in their own way, you know, they get in their own way.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: That's one of the biggest things I see all the time, and they give up before their song is ever played, let's say.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: They just give up and they succumb to it, you know, out of out of fear, yeah.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Out of fear.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: I remember when I uh pivoted um and I kind of moved into the online space and I was focusing, I mean, this was about 2020, so when lockdown was uh was happening, and I remember the imposter syndrome coming through because I all I I remember thinking the the person that talks about online courses is a lady called Amy Porterfield who is huge in the online space.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: And I can't like yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: And I was like, there's no way I could compete, and people are gonna see me as uh you know, kind of a lesser version of or trying to dupe her as you know, my my kids would say be a dupe of her.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Um and I just remember feeling so um like like I would go networking and I would I could feel like I would stop myself from saying the very thing that I wanted to say because of that fear, because of the stories that I told myself the moment I said those words online course, Amy Porterfield.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: And it was almost like the in my head that I couldn't see past that.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I you probably and tell me, like, did you feel like you were inferior?
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 100%.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Because this woman like had created this huge success.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: She was synonymous with online courses, and it was like, I can't I don't want to compete, but I don't want to be seen as compete.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: So I had all these things going in my head, and then I remember sort of talking to people and having conversations, and it was really bizarre because the evidence that I had that told me what I was talking about was needed, people were responding to it, was so not what I was telling myself.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: And and I and that's something I think throughout my so I've been in business 10 years, this is my 10th anniversary, and I have to say that's probably my biggest learning is because we make assumptions about what we think is true, it's learning to kind of find the evidence to to kind of back it up or to dismantle the belief that you're carrying.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: And and I suppose because I've in my time of being in this space, you know, I've been doing lots of different things, and every time I've had that real kind of fear that's that comes up.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, even the summit, you know, I'm like terrified.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Um honestly, you should think I have like moments where I'm like, who am I?
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Who am I to be putting together or the other?
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: But it's looking for the evidence, yeah.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: You know, that's normal.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Well, first of all, what you just said even about the summit, that's normal.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: That's just that's normal, right?
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: That's biology, that's normal.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: So it's what is warranted and what's unwarranted.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: And when you were talking about the Amy Portafield, right?
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: A lot of times we're comparing ourselves to where we at that point it was just beginning, right?
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: But you're comparing yourself to somebody that is already there, right?
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: That already had that journey, right?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: So that's where, that's where they're like, oh my gosh, what is it I'm gonna do?
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: And then we get that inferiority type thing or imposter syndrome and all those things where you know you're growing into it, and where you're at now was where she was at, where she when she first started, right?
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: You know, so the thing about you know, emotions, emotions are just emotions.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Emotions are signals, however, emotions aren't necessarily true, they're not necessarily true.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: So you go down to what is real, what is the evidence that I have.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: So what is true is what is evidence and what is the data.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: What are what are the behaviors, right?
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Because you always want you, we want to have behavior shifts, not just this emotional changes.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: We want to have the actual behavior shifts, right?
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: So we look for, which is a great point, Karen, is the evidence on what is true and what's the data.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Because emotions, emotions are emotions, and emotions can lie, emotions can be reactive, and they're just signals.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: It's just signals.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's a really good point.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: And you are very good at doing what you do, and you are a matter of fact, she's so good.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: You guys, I was just doing Karen's course, and that's why I learned from Karen as well, because I want to have my digital products out there and I want to be able to reach more people.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: I want to have more of a platform that I can service more people, right?
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: And who do you go to when you want those things to happen?
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: You go to somebody that's already been there and doing it and is the expert in those things.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: You just don't take it on yourself, you know.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: So to myself, I can't, I'm a practitioner, but I can't just, you know, coach and you know, and be my own practitioner all the time, right?
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: You have to seek out, you know, other others to be able to get you where you're going as well.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: So no.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's really kind.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's been a journey, it's been a journey, isn't it?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And I think that's the thing when people see um people at a certain place in their business often, you know, probably a bit like sort of where I was with the whole Amy Porterville thing, but at some point or another, they've most likely gone through that process of experiencing the fear and the imposter syndrome and the self-sabotage and all of those things.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: We just don't see it.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: We see the person.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the the version that is probably version, you know, 300 out of, you know, right, because of their evolution of the person that they've grown into.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: And and and I just think it's really interesting because especially in business, the the it's all about identity, how we see ourselves.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: And when we come into business, often we are carrying an identity of being that person that's been employed, and we, you know, we've been part of a team, and we've been given our tasks and and all of that stuff.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: But then you have to shift that identity because because you're the person at the helm, having to run a business, having to find clients, having to make it all happen, and then you have but but but but internally that transition doesn't always um sort of take place in the same time frame.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: So often you can end up still kind of like running a business, but still feeling like the employee and still feeling like that person that that that is having to do everything.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: But but then you then mix in the whole imposter and self-sabotage and all of those as well.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: And I think it all comes down to identity, doesn't it?
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Like how you see yourself and what you want from yourself and and and what your future self looks like, and what are you prepared to do to grow into that future self?
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: Because that's something I don't think is spoken about.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: We become different versions of ourselves through the different stages of running a business because different things require different things from us, so so yeah, the whole procrastination and like it's it.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: I can imagine it's this constant cycle, you just get over one thing, and then you're having to kind of almost deal with it for the next thing.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, there's something else.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: There's always listen, I say life always lifes, it does.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: So we're either gonna be able to master our mindsets and be able to master our emotions, right?
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: Or better yet, even this the states that we get into, or we're not gonna get the results that we want.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: We're just not, we'll get results.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if we picked up on we'll get results, but we're not gonna actually get the desired results that we actually want.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Not not when we're not doing the the mind, the mind shift around things and being able to come from come from the place of okay, I do feel I do feel the fear, and am I gonna allow it to stop me or am I gonna allow it to keep growing me?
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Because again, we were talking a little bit earlier.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: There's always gonna be contrast, whether people want to believe this or not, okay.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: We do have ebbs and flows in our business.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: That's called the law of ebbs and flows, okay?
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: And whether it we are ebbing or we're flowing, we have to be able to be in the state to understand that we're always gonna have contrast before we have manifestation.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: And you're always gonna have a personal, in my personal opinion, and my professional opinion, doing this for almost 30 years now, you're always gonna have a personal breakthrough before you have a business breakthrough.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because it starts with us internally, right?
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: And and going down to, like you said, with the identity, you know, and sometimes what I find is helpful is if like I do this all the time to myself, instead of people saying, like, oh, I'm this or I'm that, or you know, I I I'm an imposter, you know, I don't know, you know, whatever.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Like I talk to myself in the third party.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: So like Deb Dowdy, Deb Dowdy, you know that you can do this.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Now come on, right?
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: You know, come on, Deb Dowdy, we got this together, right?
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: We and and and then there's also there's also some different things that I teach people, but I actually have an alternate personality, and her name is Desiree.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: I laugh.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: I laugh because I I do that, yeah.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: I I do that.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, do I need to bring in Desiree right now or what?
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: You know, and and all it is is getting into a different state, right?
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: Our like our body, you know, and like right now, when I said that, like I'm sitting up straight and I'm like, right.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: So if we learn again to change the states and change our physiology and and control what we're thinking about, right?
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: Then then we're gonna we're gonna be able to move forward.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: We we will.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: And uh, but yeah, instead of saying I, I, I, oh, I am such this or I am such that, no, no, no, Deb Dowdy, come on now.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Right now you're being, you know, right now you're being the treasurer in your business, and that's okay, because you have you get to do, you know, you get to do this ledger right now.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: You get to do, you know, the business expenses right now.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: Deb Dowdy, right now you get to be the creator, you know, with the creative hat on right now, even though that might not be something I really truly love, you know, instead of saying, Oh, I'm not really that great with creation and uh, oh, cancel that, cancel, cancel, cancel that, and start talking to yourself like in a third person instead of like internalizing I, I, I, I, I.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: And that actually helps to change a little bit about the identity as all as well.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: No, I think that I think yeah, I think that's a great tip.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, I say I I kind of do it, but mine's more Karen, get over yourself and just get the sodding thing done.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, there's sometimes I get a little bit more burnt for sure.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Because I wind myself up.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I wind myself up when I'm sitting there and I it's the overthinking, and I just get to a point where I'm just like, oh, for God's sake, make a decision and get on with it.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: Like you're you know, it's either gonna be a success or it's not, right?
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: But sitting in that state of like the un you know, not knowing, just you know, and I think that's part it is, but I but I think that's also part of the journey of being in business.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: I don't believe I don't believe anybody has the secret source.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: I don't think there's a book out there, a podcast, a YouTube video, whatever.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Nobody knows, as far as I'm concerned, because everybody's journey is very different.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: I think consistency is probably the the sprinkler of magic, the kind of often moves the needle.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: But there's not one way for any one person in business or in life.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: So when we're at those crossroads where we're sitting there and we're thinking, oh, should we, shouldn't we?
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: And it's like just make a decision.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Right, and then make a decision and then right, and then take that next best step.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just the next best step.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: The next best step.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: You know, I agree.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: And it's like, you know, what what does the action what what am I what am I making this action mean, right?
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: Like I can make it mean one thing or I can make it mean another, right?
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: And often I wonder if we apply too much meaning.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think and I think one of one of my mentors in the online business space, um, his advice, which I have it in my head all the time, is just be the scientist in whatever you do.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: Best advice I was probably given, be the scientist and look for the evidence, because once you've got evidence, once you've got data, you can then make decisions, conscious decisions that's going to take you in the right way.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: So try and remove that emotion so that you can actually get clarity of mind.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: And and I fear, and I think that's the thing that probably in any of those circumstances, but when you're like you're caught up in the the you know, when you can't make decisions, or like you sort of say you're just procrastinating and sitting in that fear, you don't have clarity of mind.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: It it's really difficult, isn't it, to move forward.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: And right, and if you get if you get that stuck, then literally, again, I'm gonna go down to physiology.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: You need to get up.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna invite you to get up.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Anybody, get up and move your body, move the denseness, go outside, go be in nature for a little bit, go take your dog for a walk, go pet your cat if you have one, whatever, feed your goldfish, you know, whatever you have, right?
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: Or move your body, jump up and down, do some jumping backs, do something, put some music on.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: You get to move the body, change your physiology, then go back, get the evidence, have the what is my next best step right now?
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Like, what's one next best thing I can do right now?
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: And maybe pick the one thing that you've been avoiding that you know that would move your business forward, right?
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: Like, don't don't necessarily force it, but just ask yourself like, what am I making this action mean?
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: Am I afraid of being judged?
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: Am I afraid of getting wrong?
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Am I afraid again, you know, of being seen?
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: You know, am I afraid to care?
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: Am I afraid to succeed and maintain it?
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because sometimes people think that as well.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: And it's just taking that one small step, the next best step, and just doing it.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Again, remember what I said earlier, you know, it's it's what we focus on.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: It's it's the thoughts around the person, the place, the thing, the situation, or whatever.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: So when we change the the meaning behind things, Karen, then we change the response, and then we take the next best action, right?
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: And then your focus determines what your experience is gonna be.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Bing, bing, bing.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: It does come down to that.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, no, absolutely.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: I know there's been times where you know you just feel stuck, and like you say, and again, we were talking about this about just shifting your state of being.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, and I think sometimes when you try and force things that can really um, you know, you you just end up going down a rabbit hole that just does not serve you.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: So so I I suppose it I suppose it's about being aware, being aware of um your state, but also how you're reacting and how you're feeling about things.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: And then if there's that uncertainty, it it's it's then looking for the evidence because once you've got the evidence, then you can really that's what's going to kind of give you the insight that you need in terms of of whether you can actually, you know, do the thing that you want to do or or not.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, yeah, great points, great points.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: It's such powerful stuff.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: Um, I mean, and I and I have to say that I 100% agree with you what you say about um in order to create external change, you need to do the internal change.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: And I think in business, I think where your business is is a direct representation of where you are on the journey.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, absolutely, you know.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: So if we can go ahead, go ahead, sorry, go ahead.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was gonna say so so if you're somebody that is feeling stuck, feeling frustrated, feeling like your business is not delivering what you were hoping it would deliver, then then often it's not a business thing, it's it's quite often an internal thing that something is obviously blocking.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: And I think I think by doing the internal work, whatever that might be, can have such huge like implications in in in yeah moving things.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, you know, and it's when we learn, when we actually learn to recognize and change the patterns, you know, we're able to make decisions faster, Karen.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: We're able to take more action, we're able to delegate more, we're able to create, we're able to sell, we're able to grow, right?
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: And and to your point that you just made, um, I I'd I'd just say that the the business can only expand as far as you're willing to expand with it.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: So think about it.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: The business can only expand as far as you're willing to expand with it.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: So when we when we really like we spend so much time, I think, trying to scale business and doing all those things.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: And and sometimes, you know, sometimes the first thing we need to scale is our capacity really to become the person who we who can actually lead it, right?
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: That can actually lead the business.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: I um so last in December, and I just want to share this because um for me, this is something that's made a huge difference.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: So, for those of you who don't know, this year is my 10th year in business and I'm hosting a three-day online business summit.
- 40:43SPEAKER_00: So it's it's a massive goal for me.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: I've got 21 speakers, I'm speaking, um, and it's it's a big thing that I'm putting together, probably the biggest project today.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: Now, in December, I went to Phoenix in the US, and I went to this three-day business breakthrough event, and I'm part of a community in in that are in the US.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: And um, I've been I've been two years ago, I went to Orange County and I went to a similar event they were running.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: And um, what was so brilliant about this event was that yes, it the there was business strategy, there were tactics, there were all things business related there.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: But the thing that really moved the needle for me was the the the deep internal work that we did throughout those three days.
- 41:40SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not somebody that meditates, I'm not like I have a higher awareness in terms of um you know the spirituality and stuff like that, but I don't practice it.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: It's not something that in my day-to-day I would be doing.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: However, because I at the being at the event, obviously we we did the work.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: The first time I went was um two years prior, and I came back having done this internal work, and it completely removed these internal blocks that that I was carrying.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: And I think a lot of that at the time was about visibility and showing up and stepping out the shadows and all of that.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: And I literally came back again.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: The event was in the December, I came back, December, January.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: I felt like I'd been a bit in the washing machine a little, I was a little bit all over the place.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: But the February, oh my god, I was like this powerhouse.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: I designed my membership, I launched my membership, I built a wait list, I converted, I think it was like 89% of my wait list.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: I was literally like, it was almost like these things that had been holding me back for so long had gone.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, you get to another level.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: So when I went back in December again, I thought, you know, I'm I'm doing okay, my business is doing well, I'm growing, all of this.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: I I've I'll do the work, but I don't really need to because things are happening, all of that.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: Anyway, went did the deep meditation, you know, the power of the mind, all of this stuff, and came back and it was like all about the summit.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: And again, whatever level I'm at, what those blocks that I removed, and and the the difference in how I feel, in my behavior, in what I'm able to do has has dramatically changed.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: And I think it's because I've because of the internal work that's been done, and oh my god, when I left the event on both occasions, I felt like I'd been turned inside out.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: I have never cried so much, but the release was incredible.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: And I had moments where I felt like I was the most powerful person in the world.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: It was it was just the work was.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: It was the.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: And I know having gone through that, the difference it makes.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Like I literally would not be doing what I'm doing today had I not gone through that.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's just incredibly powerful.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: And I know that I won't be going this December, but but if I can get my ticket for next December, I will go and I will do exactly the same again.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: Because it works.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: When we sit in that state of procrastination and we are second guessing ourselves and we're feeling those feelings, it stops us stepping into the person that we could be.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: And I think that's the shame of it.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Like that's the thing that I think is so, you know, um, it's just such a shame because I meet so many incredible people, probably as do you, that that have the ability and the capability to really bring their dreams to life and make their goals happen.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: But because of the internal stuff that's going on, they hold themselves back and they don't reach the the dizzy heights that they deserve to kind of reach.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: And I think that's a shame.
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: So that's why, Debs, I wanted you to be a part of this summit because I know the work that you do is so incredibly powerful and could be the game changer in in helping people move forward.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: I sincerely say that.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: And and when you were saying about the changes, like I I have been there, I have I've been I have been through those breakthroughs, you know, and I actually work with breakthroughs with my one-on-one elite, you know, um work with people as well.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: And you know, and I offer them in different ways and everything, but I I just sat there and smiled because it was you were changing the neurology around.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: You were changing, you were rewiring what was going on underneath in the unconscious, and you were letting that stuff go.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: You were letting that stuff go, you know, and you were being able to come back to who you really meant to be before the world really told you, you know, who you were supposed to be, gonna be, all these things.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: You got back to you and being able to show up for others, right?
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: And so that's the thing too, even with you know, the programs and and being able to be online and and and be able to have a bigger reach with people, it's people, and I say this lovingly, there's a lot of people out there that need you, that want you, that they get to hear what your message is.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: So that's why building something online is so important as well, because it is going to reach more people, right?
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: You want to have more impact?
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Well, having you know some online businesses and you know, online um products and programs and things like that is gonna be a way to be able to do that and be able to expand that reach.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: And that's why, you know, I I love doing I like I I can't talk more enough, you know, about Karen and what she and she you just heard, like she walks the walk, she doesn't just talk the talk, you know, and the same, and I and I'll say, you know, and I will boldly say this for myself as well.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: I don't just teach by theory, I've gone through the work, I've done what Karen was was saying in in different capacities and institutes and you know, and things like that.
- 47:31SPEAKER_01: I have my board designations, you know, I have different things.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: I don't just teach theory.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: Like I've I have the life experience to be, I've walked through the crap and still was able to come through it.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, that that Phoenix Ryzen, right?
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: So through through through Ash comes beauty.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: And uh I just I can't say enough why it's it's important for people to come in and be able to have their reach through an online program or a masterclass or whatever it is that they choose to do.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: And I'm so excited that they're gonna be able to come into this summit and be able to learn those things too, along with being able to get their their, let's say their mind shift a little shaped a little bit.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, if there's one thing, if there's one thing that I've learned through working with so many people, um, you know, within the online space, mindset is such an incredible, like like it's so important.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: And um, it can make or break your efforts, you know.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: So um absolutely, absolutely.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: It can, yeah.
- 48:39SPEAKER_01: And and I'm gonna just talk for a quick second that the the session that I'm doing really is, you know, we're calling it why you know what to do, but aren't doing it.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: And it's the hidden psychology behind taking action in your business, right?
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: So again, what I'm gonna be teaching everybody is I have a seven-step journey that's underneath and underneath like the seven steps is really four stages.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: So it's the awareness, which we've talked about, right?
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: It's awareness, it's understanding, it's action, it's transformation.
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: So the awareness is gonna come from like, you know, what's really happening?
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: Why am I hesitating?
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: Um, understanding, you know, why does this pattern keep coming up and keep repeating?
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: The action, you know, how do I actually interrupt that pattern and I move it forward?
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: And that's where I'm actually gonna introduce something that I call the four Rs.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: It's the four Rs, Rs, action formula, and then the transformation.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then the transformation, which is instead of only asking, like, what do I need to do?
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: It's we ask ourselves, who do I need to become?
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: Who do I need to become?
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: And everyone is gonna leave, everyone's gonna leave Karen with at least doing one or two courageous next best steps that they can move forward.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: And my whole point of the presentation, like, I really did not want this to be a pr another presentation that people are just writing down a bunch of notes and you know, going back and having business as usual.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: You know, I want them to actually understand what's happening beneath the surface, beneath that iceberg, right?
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: And learn some practical ways that they can interrupt the pattern and that they leave committed doing a few things moving forward, not this whole, uh, right.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: And that because chances really are, Karen, that they already know, you already know enough to take your next step.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: The question is, is like, why are we stopping ourselves from taking it?
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Well, the session is sounds amazing, um, and it's definitely not one to be missed.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: And I and I think this is something that can really, you know, help people say thank you.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: So before we finish, I have some quick fire round questions.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, bless you.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: Oh I'm just gonna take a yeah, me too.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: Fire away.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: Oh okay, so some quickfire round questions.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: Are you a coffee or tea drinker?
- 51:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, tea right here.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: I have a spot of tea right here.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: I love my herbal teas.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love her tell you so it camera before bed every night.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: What's one business book that you think every entrepreneur should be reading?
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, so because you gave me a heads up on the the the the fire rounds.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: I I have three actually, so I hope you don't mind.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: So one is Think and Grow Rich, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you can see that.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: Another is breaking the habit of being yourself, how to lose your mind and create a new one.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: That's by Dr.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Joe Dispenza.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: All about the mind and recreating and and restructuring, right?
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: Your patterns.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: And the other one is more about like manifesting your desires and your dreams.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: And it's called Ask and It Shall Be Given, Learning to Manifest Your Dreams.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: And that's by Esther and Jerry Hicks.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: So amazing is what I would recognize.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: Definitely worth a read.
- 52:29SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: What's the one tool or app that you just couldn't run your business without?
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, what we're what what we're on right now is Zoom.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: Because I do work with clients internationally and I teach internationally.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Um I'm also a hypnotherapy trainer, so I can have people from other countries be a part of that.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: So Zoom, hands down, and I was already using Zoom way before you know we ever went into the pandemic or anything like that.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I and for me, doing what I do is I have to be aware of what we call sense sensory acuity.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: Like I have to be able to see the people, their their breath, I have to be able to see like a skin, a skin color change, I have to be able to see whether they have muscle tension or not, you know, those types of things, their eye movements when I'm working with them.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: So that's all part of like the sensory acute acuity.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: And I couldn't do it if I didn't have Zoom.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: It's it's amazing, isn't it?
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: Because with Zoom, it really does connect everybody.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: So so yeah.
- 53:31SPEAKER_00: Um what's the one best piece of business advice you've been given?
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: So that's a good one.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: There's so many.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: Um what I'll have to say though is never give up on your goal.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: So if you have a goal, never give up on it.
- 53:48SPEAKER_01: You can change you can change the deadline, the the you know, the the time frame, you can change that, don't change your goal though.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Unless it's something that you're no longer aligned with, that's the only way you change that goal.
- 54:03SPEAKER_01: If you're no longer aligned with it, then sure, change it.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: If it's just something that you didn't you you you you set a timeline on it and you didn't reach it then, well then change the timeline.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: Just shift.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: Don't don't give up on that.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Ever.
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: And then in one sentence, what does building an online business mean to you?
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: Um, one sentence, huh?
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: It means to me that I'm able to monetize and scale my business to reach and service more people and give me the flexibility, really, the the freedom and flexibility that I also can bring in passive income like 24-7-2.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
