- 0:14here? Dor Selmus judge four Finger Discount Ude, Welcome to four Fingure Discount
- 0:37where this we're here to review episode fifteen of season eighteen. It is Rome
- 0:41Old and Julie. I am Endo and I am Guy, and we're back
- 0:45in twenty twenty four. This is the first four Finger Discount episode we recorded
- 0:48in twenty twenty four. Now, first recording we've done. Now it's the
- 0:51first. It's not the first four Finger discount we did the Home of the
- 0:54Great special last week. This is the first season eighteen review, a full
- 0:58Finger discount classic Diane Springfield. Okay, but we're putting the train back on
- 1:06the tracks. We are back in the Weeds season eighteen. Yeah, things
- 1:11are moving ahead, and yeah we're back. Maybe we are indeed, Yeah,
- 1:14back to reviewing weird shit. Indeed, speaking of weird shit, it's
- 1:19the opposite of weird shit, because we're coming to you from well, we
- 1:23always recorded Dano's home studio. But I walk in the door and I went,
- 1:27what go ahead? His own table? Now I kind of do yeah,
- 1:32I do, actually do and he has rearranged the whole place. I
- 1:36don't know. Dana's very big on, you know, sharing his life on
- 1:38social media. Hopefully he'll show you some before and after pictures. I haven't
- 1:42actually I realized I've shared two posts since August last year. Oh really,
- 1:47personal account, I ain't work about it. I couldn't give a shit on
- 1:49name my personal account on my four figure discount page. That's my personal page.
- 1:53Yew Well tune in listeners or just check in them. But do you'll
- 1:57see that this place is you know, all the crazy crap on the walls
- 2:00are still all the crazy crap on the walls, but things have been moved
- 2:02around. There's a little more room to move, a little room to breathe.
- 2:06There's gonna be less crazy crap, trustmate, less crazy crab. We're
- 2:08I think we're all doing a bit of that. In twenty twenty now,
- 2:10I helped the Lovely Luise out with a bit of decluttering at her place.
- 2:17She could just feel the literal and metaphoric weight of it coming down on us.
- 2:23So we took a couple of days between Christmas and year and went wild.
- 2:27Is she going to come to your place and do the same she was
- 2:29talking about that. But I'm like, change the subject quick by. Don't
- 2:34tell anybody how I live, even even with the woman I love. I'm
- 2:38kind of like, I'm gonna have to do a quick take on this before
- 2:40you come. We're discussing cobwebs and dust before we really were. As a
- 2:44guy, I said, I rearranged this room so the desk is now in
- 2:46a opposite corner. And the way I used to have my corner desk was
- 2:49that it was sort of sticking into the room. Now I've got it essentially
- 2:52in the corner, added a new table to extend the desk. It's kind
- 2:54of a horse now, isn't it. It is, but it's just opened
- 2:58up the room. But the amount of dust that behind that desk, and
- 3:00you would have saying that there's like, you know, plenty of dusty your
- 3:02place. I don't get dust people. You know, I put a figure
- 3:05on the table here, I guarantee you in two weeks time and to be
- 3:07just covered in dust. Where does dost come from? A lot of it
- 3:09is apparently your skin? I know, right, Maybe that's where ghosts.
- 3:15That's what ghosts actually are, just lingering skin from people of the past.
- 3:20Yeah, I don't even talk to me about housekeeping. I mean I sort
- 3:23of swept under the bed recently and do your a combination of having a cat
- 3:27and be no standards. It was just like, oh my god, so
- 3:30haiy and revealing. But it feel a bit better when it was all that.
- 3:32But yeah, there's still a fair bit of stuff that needs to be
- 3:36decluttered from my place. I'll do a quick run on then. I don't
- 3:39know if I can talk a little into it or yeah, she would she
- 3:43want to do you think declutter your place? Or was just like, I'm
- 3:46kind of going there. I think she has noticed, like you've got a
- 3:51bit of clutter. I'm like, you say, do you speaking of I've
- 3:53got some shit that you might want. I was going to offer to you
- 3:55just in case you wants it. It's like old Empire magazines. Oh quite
- 4:00possibly. Having said that, I mean, yeah, louis throwing stuff out
- 4:04and I'm like, well I might take that and that and that and that.
- 4:09So there we go. Yes, the battle to declutter will never ever,
- 4:13ever ever be one. My issue of decluttering is I just moved shit
- 4:15from one room to the next. I'm like, we're gonna hang out in
- 4:17this room more often lately, I'm going to move all the clutter from this
- 4:19room to the garage, and then when I want to the garage and move
- 4:23back into this room often enough, and Nichol doesn't realize it's still here.
- 4:27The shell game goes on, all right, But we are here to talk
- 4:30about Romi Old and Julie. Yeah. Really weird episode. An episode that
- 4:33the story is just so odd that I found it hard to buy into.
- 4:38Yeah, not one that I could really sort of get all that invested in
- 4:42either way. That feels like, well, this is just not even not
- 4:45a placeholder. That's not the right way for it. But it's like being
- 4:47there done that. We've seen some of them married so many times, and
- 4:50of all the marriages, this one was probably the least likely to work,
- 4:53so you just like just get to the how they break up. Yeah,
- 4:57yeah, I mean and look acknowledging by having the little banner the on the
- 5:00wedding day where all the other names have been crossed out and all that stuff.
- 5:03Yeah, it was like you acknowledging that has been done before. Yeah,
- 5:09and this is perfectly fine to you know, while away a few minutes
- 5:12with but yeah, not really adding much to the big picture, and you
- 5:15know, the b plot in terms of like the boxes, and then it's
- 5:17like, well, well, you know, we all like The Lord of
- 5:19the Rings. I guess it started good, and by the end I just
- 5:23thought this is so fucking weird. Like I didn't hate it. I was
- 5:27just like, they've really just decided nothing needs to make sense anymore. Christ's
- 5:30dragons and shit, I'm like, what is happening here? Yeah? Yeah,
- 5:33I mean I don't know. It's just not that everything has to have
- 5:38stakes or meaning or purpose, although it's good if it does. Yeah,
- 5:42I was looking, what's the point of this? You could have easily come
- 5:45up with some other storyline involving backyard forts, you know, and battles.
- 5:50I mean, you know, have Nelson build one, or you know,
- 5:54have other people catch onto the scam and have you know, have a story
- 5:58where people need boxes for some reason but they can't find because all the kids
- 6:00are still in the boxes to build Fort's good point. Good point, there
- 6:04we go, fixed it's done, Rather than you know, riff on the
- 6:08Two Towers. Like I said, everybody loves The Lord of the Rings.
- 6:11Everybody loves fighting, fighting, and Helm's deep. But man in this case,
- 6:15this just felt like patting. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's
- 6:19just yeah, it's not not an episode that you know, I'm going ah
- 6:24whenness this over. No, No, I didn't dislike it in that sense.
- 6:28It was just because you know, we've had those episodes where they make
- 6:30you angry. They're so absolutely you think, why am I even bothering watching
- 6:33this? This one of us went, it's okay, but it's just I
- 6:38know, a little too quirky for me, it's too weird. But you
- 6:41know, I guess you need these episodes from time to time, and there
- 6:44are people out there who I'm sure are going Romeo and Juliet, that's a
- 6:46pretty good one. Yeah. Yeah, it's a little underrated if you believe
- 6:50that. Twenty years later, people aren't talking about often enough Romeo and Juliet.
- 6:57If you believe this, let us know. We're happy to hear your
- 7:00opinion on this and and then completely disregard it because there was some stuff that
- 7:03I did, like wild get two of my favorite moments. Well that's what
- 7:05that favorite moment segment is for. Yeah. But before we do that,
- 7:09though, I just wanted to say that Homer was such a piece of shit
- 7:10in this episode because he had absolutely zero reason to want to split Ape and
- 7:15somewhere up. I get that it's his dad and his sister in law,
- 7:16but he's like, I want my father to grow old and be lonely.
- 7:19And it's just that's true. You never really sort of I mean, other
- 7:23than his sort of ongoing animosity towards Patty and so on, And Patty does
- 7:29the same thing as well. I'm like, why is she? I mean,
- 7:31I kind of get that it's grandpa, but it's still it's weird that
- 7:35it's his sister inland that's going to be his mum. But it's just like,
- 7:39it's horrible. Every once in a while, you need someone to just
- 7:41articulate those things, even if those reasons are petty. Yeah, if you,
- 7:46you know, have a character say I don't like it because X or
- 7:49Y, and it's like, well, okay, I guess we can understand
- 7:53where you're coming from. Even if I don't agree with it. It's still
- 7:56some degree of motivation that moves the story forward and all that kind of thing.
- 8:00But yeah, in this case, it was like, yeah, I
- 8:03hadn't really thought of you just said. It's like, why why are you
- 8:07going with the breakup. I mean, I guess you, as we said,
- 8:11have to keep the story moving forward. I mean, I don't think
- 8:13it wouldn't be as probably I was about to say, as interesting an episode.
- 8:18It wasn't that interesting an episode, But it wouldn't It wouldn't have anything
- 8:22moving ahead if you know, there wasn't any conflict or any sort of any
- 8:26aversion to these two being together, and then don't create a shit conflict.
- 8:31Good, just think of a better story, because I'm thinking, surely there
- 8:33was an easier way to get Grandpa to move in than Homer declaimed bankruptcy for
- 8:37the family because he wanted to turn his basement into a like a man cave.
- 8:41But then within like three minutes, Grandpa's moved in the met no one
- 8:43used the man cave anymore. So what was the whole point of him filing
- 8:46for bankruptcy. We don't hear anything about the bankruptcy like that. Him filing
- 8:48for bankruptcy has no impact on the story going forward. No as a as
- 8:54an inciting incident. It's a that's a big deal, five for bankruptcy,
- 8:56and it should be the family of struggling for the rest of the episode.
- 9:00Whatever reason for these fucking bankruptcy. But no, nope, forgotten about having
- 9:03said that. I've gone to jump on my favorite moments. But pretty nice
- 9:07bachelor, a pretty nice basement pad. Yeah, sucker for a good basement
- 9:11pad. I'd love to have a basement, I think fantastic. I tried
- 9:13to turn the garage into that, and we had it going for a while,
- 9:16but then it got to the point where it was like, we need
- 9:18somewhere to put shit and part the car and have all the other stuff that
- 9:22you don't want in the house. We still need here. You need a
- 9:24storag. Yeah, yeah, everyone needs I said to Nicholas, we have
- 9:26a build a house and building it's going to be a cinema room slash like
- 9:28man cave area. How fucking amazing would have been have your own like cinema,
- 9:33Lois. How many seats would you have in your home cinema? At
- 9:35least eight? At least eight? Yeah, yeah, Los, always a
- 9:39cinema room. If we get a house or when we get a house,
- 9:41yeah, I'm coming. Yeah. The bankruptcy story and just how he was
- 9:48treated Grandpa and somewhere throughout this, it's just should have right here home with
- 9:50such a piece of shit. In this, he wasn't to me as aggressively
- 9:56dickish as he's been in other recent episodes or previous episodes. But still,
- 10:01yeah, it's it's funny. I mean, revisiting Home of the Great the
- 10:05way we did recently and looking at home there, it's like, you're a
- 10:09dummy, and you're impulsive and you're immature. But in ways it I can
- 10:15certainly relate to, and I guess that a lot of other people can relate
- 10:18to, whereas in this it's just kind of like, oh, you're just
- 10:20like any other jerk off sitcom dad, Yeah, the ones that you know
- 10:26shows supposedly as smart as the Simpsons make fun of yep, And yeah,
- 10:33it was a little disappointing. It was a little disappointing. Also, it
- 10:35couldn't quite Another reason I couldn't quite get into the story was that they couldn't
- 10:39decide for me whether they were actually in love. It's like, why are
- 10:41someoner going with this guy when like, you know, she suggests sex and
- 10:45he's like I thought were at the circusly so, And I'm like, wait,
- 10:48so is he senile? Does he know he's married? It's just don't
- 10:50play out the senile moments. I get that's that way of sort of establishing
- 10:54a split between the two, but it's like what it made in the first
- 10:58place. Surely this shit was there for the I think so. Yeah,
- 11:01and some are that desperate. Yeah, And I don't think you can really
- 11:03turn it on, to turn the dial to such a degree that he's going
- 11:07to wreck the house the way that he does. No. I mean,
- 11:11I think there are certainly ways where you can address you know, not just
- 11:13the age difference, but the difference in out to do, the difference in
- 11:16I guess cognitive ability, and the difference in desires and wants and all that
- 11:20kind of stuff. I think that would have been too much hard work.
- 11:24I think it would have been nice to just play out the fact that he
- 11:24hasn't lived with a woman for like forty years, yes, and go back
- 11:28to like that nineteen fifties mentality or seventies mentals, whatever was raise sixties mentality.
- 11:33Have that mentality, have that as the split between the two because he
- 11:37doesn't know any different. Yeah. Yeah, me not doing it in a
- 11:39you know, asshole way, an aggressive way, but more like well,
- 11:45say you do things and saying Grandpa, times have change and have him actually
- 11:48make it, make an efferent. You know, I just thought that there's
- 11:50ways around the shitness in this. But anyway, let's get past the shittness,
- 11:52because when you're talking about these very special people, the stone Cutters,
- 11:56stone Cutters, Yes, we love these people, don't Mister Davis, I
- 12:00like him a whole lot. Yes we do, so say we do one
- 12:03of these days I set you up, spoon fedger. No, the araplane
- 12:07just overshot the runway and they're gonna throw a treat at hit him in the

- 13:20John Lovet's voice, heady G. Yes. Thank you so much guys for
- 13:28all of your support. Now, mister Davis, it is time for our
- 13:31favorite moments. Hey, my favorite What did you enjoy the most, mister
- 13:35Davis? Like I said, pretty nice basement pad. Yeah, it looked
- 13:39like it had all the all the stuff. That I would kind of enjoy.
- 13:41Shags have shared carpet, I have shared carpeting, and a Chevy Chase
- 13:45and goldiehorn in foul play pinball machine. Yes, look pretty rad. I
- 13:52think my favorite bits were the mainly one liners. I did, like home
- 13:58saying Tomage, yeah, when she was sort of complaining that that I was
- 14:01staying with them, why you're telling me he's your father in law? It
- 14:05was a nice way passing the buck. And also Moe had a great line
- 14:09when he was sort of trying to break it gently to Homer that he wasn't
- 14:13that good looking, said yahre in exactly open casket materially yourself, open casket
- 14:16material. That's good. Have you ever been to an open casket funeral?
- 14:20I have. I think I'm actually no, they're not very popular in Australia
- 14:24at all, not really No, I mean, I don't think any move
- 14:28wants to be actually really reminded of why we're here. Well, plus,
- 14:33I'm just like, I wouldn't want someone's last memory of me to be seeing
- 14:35me dead. I know, it's also it's a tradition, it's some some
- 14:39cultures. Absolutely, yeah, yeah, I mean, not to bring the
- 14:43mood down or anything like that. I mean I saw my father his dead,
- 14:46yeah, when when I went in hospital was yeah, yeah, and
- 14:50he was lying on the bed and there's Bobby, but not at the same
- 14:54time. Also my my grandmother on my mother's side before the funeral, which
- 15:00was closed casket, but they had her out the back of the viewing.
- 15:03Yeah, yeah, yeah, so you can actually see there. I was
- 15:05like, oh, there's Nana and yeah. I mean it's I must have
- 15:09been certainly before my before my Nana, because I think I was probably in
- 15:13my late teens and I don't think I've ever seen a dead body at that
- 15:18stage. And I was like, what's just going to be, Like,
- 15:20it's just going to mess me up? And it's like it's Nana, Yeah,
- 15:24just taking the taking the long sleep. So it is what it is.
- 15:28I've just never been able to do it. We've had viewings of family
- 15:31members who are passing my sister's being and things like that, my mum,
- 15:33and I'm like, it's just not for me, okay, to reach their
- 15:37own Yeah yeah, I don't think. I don't think it indicates a lack
- 15:39of respect or love or anything like that. It's just you know, to
- 15:41each their own something I do like though, was the mister X in this
- 15:45episode. There's a couple that I really really enjoyed. Tell me about those.
- 15:48This is my roof my rules. I shouldn't probably that root from him.
- 15:52That's so stupid, but it just worked for me. Oh, by
- 15:56the way, one or two more favorites. Yeah, yeah, I thought
- 15:58the EPR gag at the makeout point was pretty good. That was that wasn't
- 16:03the car rocking? Yes, we'll get to that when we get to that.
- 16:06And also, yeah, soundtrack corner. Of course, they've dug into
- 16:08the soundtrack budget and they paid a little money for Joe Jackson's issue really going
- 16:12song. Joe Jackson's just fantastic. Yeah. Uh. Lou and I were
- 16:17driving back from Melbourne not long ago and I was like, I think we're
- 16:19gonna play a lot of Joe Jackson on this trip. She was like that
- 16:22that's all right by me. It's just like some of fun. Yeah,
- 16:26yeah, I mean, well, she loves stepping Out, which is like
- 16:27it's one of the great going out songs, like, you know, a
- 16:30good pregame song. But he's got a heap. I really really like Joe
- 16:34Jackson and this is a fantastic song. I just love the part of that
- 16:37song where I was like, guys, have my ass. It's just so
- 16:41catchy. It's oh, it's the best. But I also enjoyed it was
- 16:45bart when he says dog industries. It's like General General industries or something,
- 16:51and it says dog. Next question, you there eating the beast? All
- 16:57right? Trivia, mister Davis. I've only written one question here for some
- 17:00unknown reason, but I will think of a couple more. So you hit
- 17:03me of your first question. That's good because I've got like six, Go
- 17:06do it. Then let's start with the first one. What chapter of the
- 17:10fiscal Code talks about bankruptcy according to Homer? Ah? Not no idea.
- 17:15Well, it's unlucky seven thirteen thirteen? Sorry? Seven is lucky, isn't
- 17:18it? I believe seven is lucky? Which one's snake eyes? That's seven?
- 17:22Isn't two? I thought Craps was seven. I thought craps if your
- 17:26roll with seven, it's like unlucky. Well, snake eyes is two?
- 17:30Because okay, then what is but seven is? I thought seven was something
- 17:34in like a game at the casino. I don't know exactly where lucky seven
- 17:37came from. But we're going to throw it out to the wisdom of the
- 17:40crowd. Let us know, folks, I'll just look it up now,
- 17:41the wisdom of Google. There's that too, isn't there. I'll tell you
- 17:47quick aside, what's the deal with the internet. What's the deal with Google?
- 17:52I went out for dinner and drinks with my school buddies school not long
- 18:00ago, to the Little Creature's Brewer in Geelong. Had a very nice time
- 18:04and of course, you know, the place closed, and because we're drunkards,
- 18:10we decided let's try and find another boat. This was like a Friday
- 18:14night. I think it was the friday night between Christmas and New Year.
- 18:17I think there's gotta be some place open. The bar when club was closed.
- 18:19I mean, that's normally a place that would be open on a Friday
- 18:22night. This is when you're gonna make your money exactly on holiday speaking making
- 18:26money, though, we ended up in the gaming room at the Lord of
- 18:27the Arms hotel, and the pokys and the characters that you found there at
- 18:34eleven thirty pm on a Friday night during a holiday season. Eleven thirty eight
- 18:40am on a Thursday that would be equally interesting, but dolls just come in.
- 18:45There was there's one particular woman that the young man behind the bar was
- 18:48really nice, but he'd gone off to do something else, and this woman
- 18:52just came and sort of reached out behind the bar and grabbed this bottle of
- 18:56wine, pulled us off a drink. She came back and said, He's
- 18:59like, excuse me, what are you I was going to pay for it.
- 19:02It's not like I wasn't going to pay for it, just you weren't
- 19:04here. It's like we're all like we thought we had problems. So yeah,
- 19:11that was that was very funny. We felt a lot better about ourselves
- 19:17now. Lucky seven. You're looking up lucky seven, so thanky seven because
- 19:21you know the reason I say this goes we're in a room for the pokies,
- 19:22yea, and verily one of them is gonna say lucky seven. So
- 19:26Lucky seven is a game. Lucky seven is played with seven numbered coasters per
- 19:29player on a flat surface. The goal of the game is to turn all
- 19:32seven coasters number side up to accrue the most points. With more than one
- 19:34player, the coasters are shuffled. Players each choose a coaster and the play
- 19:38with the highest number starts. Sounds very confusing. He sounds like what,
- 19:44No, what is the meaning of lucky seven? Likely number seven is even
- 19:47the basis for many myths and folklore. Agent beliefs from around the world believe
- 19:51that the seventh son of the seventh Son would be gifted with magical powers both
- 19:56good and evil. In the Bible's scholars claim that God of the world in
- 20:00six days and use the seventh day to rest good one. So that's where
- 20:03seven from. Okay, there we go. For all of you who actually
- 20:07cared, information is always lou acceptable in Lou of entertainment. My first question
- 20:14for you is where is the customer service center? Well? Sorry, what
- 20:17did it used to be there? It was an old cram bookstore. It
- 20:19was at a real place, cram books, I think. So okay,
- 20:22yeah, it sounds like a real place out near the near the airport.
- 20:25Yes, yes, okay. Then according to the posters that Grandpa puts up
- 20:30in the wreck room, Lilian Gish start in what movie? Ah Um,
- 20:37it's bee, isn't it? It's two bees? Two bees? Yeah.
- 20:41Blossoms bay breaking, baking or breaking blossoms, breaking blossoms of breaking broken blossom,
- 20:49broken blossoms damn close enough. You can see the gears turning there.
- 20:56It was fantastic. How much does March spend a month on It's five hundred
- 21:02dollars per month on Total poker dot com. There's a lot of money,
- 21:04it is. Indeed, you know, hopefully she's getting a decent return ROI
- 21:08on that one. I doubt it. Fine for bankruptcy, probably not.
- 21:11Okay, then look an obvious question to ask, but what is the answer
- 21:17key to test number seven at the DMV? I don't know what is it?
- 21:21Oh? You remember this bit in the episode? I kind of do.
- 21:23Okay. Then, yes, they're all firing questions at somewhere as she
- 21:27takes over the Oh yeah DMV and yeah through yeah, yeah, the answer
- 21:32key for test number seven, which they've lost is A C D A A
- 21:37C B B C A. How can I remember that? Ship? This
- 21:41is what you pause and I write it down. This is this is one
- 21:42of those things that we do occasionally to trip each other up and be cool,
- 21:45to have that sort of like vibe at the office place where everyone just
- 21:48comes to you and like you know that you're just running. You always had
- 21:51this, you always pop culture? Why why do you think ash sat you
- 21:56next to me and started this whole journey. Thinks it wasn't Ashes wouldn't exist.
- 22:03I saw Ash on the weekend. It was because it was good,
- 22:04and so we're out. Ash, by the way, is the owner of
- 22:07pop Culture and my former employer. So Nickol and I went out for a
- 22:11date night on Saturday and I was like, Stacy, my sister, please
- 22:12come baby, sit the kids. Put in the bed. It's all we
- 22:15have to do. Maybe maybe change a sheet in that, but you'll be
- 22:17fine if not, just work about and Nicola, I want to go out
- 22:21for dinner. So she did that. She did that. We're out and
- 22:22we're just looking at various places. Nicholas one of those people who wants to
- 22:26peruse the menu of every place before she decides where she's going to eat.
- 22:29Understand, Yeah, she goes through Oh yeah, because little Mallet Streets rocking.
- 22:32Now there's so many places to choose from, that is correct. And
- 22:33we're just walking around me here, hey Dano, And I was like,
- 22:37that's the voice of some one I know because everyone was doing this at Popcorn.
- 22:45It's been growling. Yes, yeah, where'd you end up going for
- 22:49dinner? We end up the old Eureka. It's now rebounded to more of
- 22:53a family pub now delicious. It was west End for a while now it's
- 22:56got a new name on top of that. No, it's just Eureka again.
- 23:00I was just got they got back to Oh okay, yeah, because
- 23:02the upstairs they've got bands. Yeah yeah, as they used to back and
- 23:04downstairs. What I walked in and I was like, I said to Nikola
- 23:07was so weak, so I went to the toilet. Right, the UK
- 23:07is an old that's pretty weird. Yeah, so there's an old night club
- 23:12and it got turned into like a pub. They're trying to make a fancy
- 23:15called the west End and everyone's like, that's that's the fucking Eureka. And
- 23:18then that's one thing I've noticed with Geelong. It's like, don't try and
- 23:19make things fancy. Just refurbish and just call it what it used to be.
- 23:23I'll give it props. West End was actually pretty nice, although and
- 23:26it wasn't too fancy. It was just a sort of a mid level gas
- 23:29strope pub. It was good, yeah, anyway, but it was always
- 23:32the Eureka and they've I walked in and I'm like, I have not been
- 23:34in this building since I was about twenty one well when I first met Nikola,
- 23:38but I knew exactly where the toolets were. It's like it's like it's
- 23:41just instant. I'm like, I've taken so many piss I walked in.
- 23:44I'm like, I have taken so many pisces in here, and it's just
- 23:47the memories came floating back, like the band, the smokers area, and
- 23:49it's just it's all coming back to me now. It's just nice. But
- 23:52it was nice just going out having dinner with the lovely Nicola. I'm sure
- 23:55it was the lovely al reason. I went out for dinner with some friends
- 24:00to Pistol, a little French restaurant in Velment. But both lou and I
- 24:07are trying to be good for the new Year because in terms of our food
- 24:11and take, so it's like we always are for January. Yeah, it's
- 24:14true. I'm currently doing a bit of Quito thing. It's like new Cubs.
- 24:18How's that going for it? It's going pretty well. Actually, you
- 24:21know, this T shirt is not as tight as it was a few days
- 24:25ago. So I feel like we always bloat over Christmas period, don't we
- 24:26me? And it's like two weeks later you're going like you don't like,
- 24:30I'm thinn again. Now bring on the takeaway. That's good. Sure they're
- 24:33going to have one native damage. It's like, oh no, this is
- 24:37where the downfall happens. All right, one more question for you. What
- 24:41does someone suggest they split and he calls her a hussy? Oh, it's
- 24:47the usual thing that you split, the usual opener for an Australian. What's
- 24:49the start that we always get? Oh? What is the lets split a
- 24:56gard That's that's how far I pushed carbs out of my mind. Don't even
- 25:00hear the word anymore. Where do you think you're gonna? Like? What
- 25:03do you think we the first carb you have? Oh, it'd either be
- 25:06like fish and chips or like a burger, So no chips or anything,
- 25:07even if they're baked. No, man, Yeah, it's it's It wouldn't
- 25:11work for me because I can't cut things completely act that it's fall straight.
- 25:15It hits me hard, like when I eat them again, I just go
- 25:17really bad for it. Understandable. I need to like treat myself at least
- 25:21once a week. I get you. Yeah, I'm finding ways to do
- 25:23so in terms of like, well, what can I have that's like a
- 25:27sweet treat. It's like you're gonna have like that really really dark chocolate.
- 25:30Yeah. I'm like, well I can have a square of that interest Are
- 25:33you pretending that you like? It? Was like Willy Wonka? What have
- 25:40you done you madman? No, it's it's it's good. Yeah, it's
- 25:45alrighty and final question, Selma suggests that learner drivers could do a three point
- 25:51turn where it's a particular street. Yeah. I know the moment too that
- 25:56but is it it's Bailey Bay Street. This podcast is brought to you by

- 26:19Okay, So, the original air day of Romey Old and julieh was March
- 26:23eleventh, two thousand and seven. The movie's not far from coming out.
- 26:26They come out in July of two thousand and seven. It was written by
- 26:30Daniel chun and directed by Nancy Cruz of the episode kicks off with Homer's big
- 26:36surprise and he guides the one down the stairs aka just lets them fall down
- 26:38the stairs and he's readonder basement. He's got shagged carpet, the Chevy Chase
- 26:44foul play pinball machine. As you said, I don't like those old school
- 26:47pinball machines. I like the ones that have what the nineties late eighties based
- 26:51ones. Yeah, the ones that's just like, I'm like this a bit
- 26:55boring. I get where you're coming from, certainly. I mean they've got
- 26:59videost no like game modes and things like that. You know. Yeah,
- 27:02my good buddy Sabby Steve the early adopter. He's also a late adopter because
- 27:07he loves his pinball machines. His buddy Eric has got a shit ton of
- 27:11pinball machines out of his place at Lara. He's got like maybe I want
- 27:15to say thirty wow. Yeah, he's got like an actual zeven kids.
- 27:18Yeah, he's got two doing. He's one of these enthusiasms he works in
- 27:22like it or something that. So he's clearly going to a ship turn of
- 27:25disposably. Yea, unless the kids are going hungry. I don't think they
- 27:30are. Eric's a very good about it, but yeah, he's got a
- 27:33shit ton of pinball machines. But Steve also has a few, and they're
- 27:36yeah, mainly those nineties ones like Demolition Man and bram Stokers, Dracula and
- 27:40all that kind of stuff. Indian Jones is an awesome one startup that generation
- 27:42another good one. Yeah, So I think I'd be partial to having a
- 27:45pinball machine if I was going to have like a an arrested development style man
- 27:51gave. I think it's a nice thing to have. I had the virtual
- 27:53one for a few years, remember that one. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:56and I saw that it's funny because us I pay three and a half
- 28:00for it, sold it for three and then saw a guy on this is
- 28:03I had like five years I had saw a guy. The guy bought it
- 28:07like the next day on fast Face on Michel Sult for five. I've been
- 28:11three and a half for it. The hustle. But I don't think this
- 28:15is gonna pay off. No, I know that just reminded me because this
- 28:18made me he were the balls almost real? There was so many people telling
- 28:21me that when they'll play my virtual one, like it looks almost real.
- 28:25The virtual tables are good if you want to have just sort of like a
- 28:26cost efficient way playing every table. That's correct. Yeah, I mean I
- 28:30do like the idea of just one of those little tabletop things that's got like
- 28:33sixty old school games. But Marge then asked, how can you fought it?
- 28:37And he says he's going to plan, and it's revealed that he's declared
- 28:41bankruptcy. I don't think I could ever do it. It's just like to
- 28:45get yourself in that position where you feel like you have to. I think
- 28:48this would be the court of last resort. Absolutely, yeah, I don't
- 28:52think i'd be feeling too good about myself for a while. No. No,
- 28:55And he was saying that he thought it was the cool law we don't
- 28:57have to pay anything back. But I guess, you know, to the
- 29:03layman or the dumb ass, it's kind of like, oh, yeah,
- 29:06okay, well all my debts are forgiven. That's that's good, you know,
- 29:08stop from scratch. It's like it's like a receborn or do over.
- 29:11Yeah, just for seven years not telling anybody what you's done. That's the
- 29:15seven years where you can't get credit or something. You think so. Yeah,
- 29:18But even after that though, you pretty much If you have declared bankrupt
- 29:21bankruptcy, good luck getting your homeland. Mister Simpson, do you understand how
- 29:25bankruptcy works? Yes? I do. Under Chapter thirteen of the Fiscal Code,
- 29:29an individual whose debts succeed as assets may file for bankruptcy just protecting said
- 29:34assets. That was the old bankruptcy law. Boom. Under the new law,
- 29:40you have to pay your creditors everything. But I thought bankruptcy was the
- 29:44cool law you wanted to dude, don't worry about it. I got this,
- 29:48mister Simpson. I'm afraid this court must appoint a financial officer to supervise
- 29:52repayment of your debts. Hmm, permission a Moon, I'll allow it.
- 30:03He's going through all the different things. Homo's thrown a thousand dollars into local
- 30:07wishing whiles every single month because he's wishing for more money. Not un funny.
- 30:11I did like the three subgicsions of Vanity Fair bathroom and do you still
- 30:17read on the toilet or was it just your phone now? It's really just
- 30:18my phone now. Yeah. It was like when I used to go before
- 30:22phones go to my uncle's place. He always had a cool stack of magazines
- 30:25at the toilet. Was always great. It's like I'm gonna read the same
- 30:27magazine that I've been written for the every time coming for the last two years,
- 30:30but always finds something new to read. But Marge has been betting a
- 30:33five hundred bucks a month on total poker dot com, and Homer says,
- 30:37I've got a way of saving some money. And he cuts graand far from
- 30:40the retirement home and takes him away from his house and he saw him doing
- 30:42five hundred piece jigsaw puzzle, which isn't that much. I've read her pieces.
- 30:47I'm like, that's like my name needs to love doing chicksaw pieces,
- 30:48right, Yeah, COVID we got into a bit, you know, but
- 30:53like she used to do the thousand piece ones that was like the standard,
- 30:57and she would turn her nose ab a five and she's not wasting my time.
- 31:02It's for part times. But yeah, I just thought it was quite
- 31:06mean. Like I know they've always been mean to Grandpa, but it's just
- 31:10felt just like, ah, so you just tartly when you've seen the sort
- 31:14of I mean, it's not a very occasionally it's a kind of a warm,
- 31:18friendly community at the retirement castle. But yeah, just as often it's
- 31:26he gets stole my soap, gone of business. So but yeah, taking
- 31:30him out of this familiar environment and one that is comfortable, it's like,
- 31:33yeah, you kind of suck. He's had to flint stone the car as
- 31:36well, because you know, I'm gotting your money. Bart Lissa are now
- 31:38playing ping pong people or table tennis, whatever you want to call it.
- 31:41But I think it's pretty racists call it ping pong, and Grandpa says it
- 31:48is his bedroom now and he puts posters up. So sorry, I was
- 31:51about to do my Wesley stuffs, thinking I don't do that. Is it
- 31:53kept cool? Keep it cool? I keep it cool with cool? If
- 31:57I just misspelt keep, I thought maybe that was the actor's name. Oh
- 32:01well, that's to keep it cool? Is the movie? Is it?
- 32:04No? No, No, that's that was former President Calvin Coolidge. Oh
- 32:07okay, then yeah, shows how much I know about former presidents and lilling
- 32:12gish dish or gishshish in a Broken Blossoms. So Bartley's from How Sad at
- 32:16the Front and that's the last we see of the man cave son. Yeah,
- 32:21that's it. Five of bankruptcy because he wants to have this This man
- 32:24cave and then gets Granpa out of his house and that's the end of that
- 32:28chapter. Too hard to have. So Bartley says, I said as sad
- 32:31at the front, and the ass rhymes American Shipping Services not affiliated with the
- 32:36Human Ass, and they are delivering some complimentary boxes to Flanders, and basically
- 32:40they ask what's going on here. He explains that the concept of getting the
- 32:44complementary boxes and how he says, you know, you shouldn't do it,
- 32:47that's really for adults, really just for adults. It gives him the number
- 32:51to call just to remind him not to to do it. Marge's then untossing
- 32:54leftover salad. This seems like something that would be worth doing. It's also
- 33:00incredibly difficult, incredibly difficult, but like sometimes you get to end of a
- 33:02barbecue and you're like, I just want tomato, but it's in this salad,
- 33:06So I just picked the tomato out. I get where you're coming from.
- 33:07Yeah, I mean I have lost cound of how many times it's like,
- 33:12well, we didn't finish all this salad. There's a certain amount in
- 33:15the salad bowls, like the rice salad Christmas time salad. I didn't have
- 33:21any of this. You didn't try it at all. I didn't. I
- 33:23she would have noticed too. I'm out of the will yeah, and but
- 33:30yeah, it's almost a bit of a judgment call and like a little too
- 33:35much salad to throw out. Okay, we'll put it in the fridge and
- 33:37it stays for a week and later all you go through it's like a little
- 33:42bit of avocado. But let us always go sogging and weird. Yeah,
- 33:45cheery tomato, Yeah, and the rest can just fuck off. What's your
- 33:49favorite barbecue salad? Mines, I think I just got to the pasta salad
- 33:52just took the staple. Yeah, Safeway passes in the pre carb in my
- 33:58pre no carb days, no bit of potato salad can't get wrong with You'll
- 34:00be back on carbs in two months, I reckon, I will. How
- 34:06long are you actually give our carbs for forever? That's not gonna fucking work,
- 34:08well, not forever, but certainly the rest of the year. As
- 34:12if you ain't eat carbs for a whole year, that's unrealistic. We just
- 34:15shook hands with shook hands. That's ridiculous, because I wanted to say,
- 34:17hi, diddend a whole year with that carves. Oh well, that's that.
- 34:22That seems that's maybe one cheap damn silly in my opinion, it's not
- 34:25like you can't do it, it's just why would you do that? Silly.
- 34:29You've gotta treat yourself occasionally because you get to the end of the un
- 34:31Well, that was the whole year that carbs. Give me, give me,
- 34:34give me, gimmy and not share it. You have to treat I've
- 34:38been through it. I'll have a cheat day a month, but certainly for
- 34:42the first few months at least I'll be like, no, no, let's
- 34:45just get into ketosis and you know, lose who got you onto it?
- 34:49Well, Lou is currently doing I guess the Carnival died, which is predominantly
- 34:53meat. But her brother has also done the Keto diet for a while and
- 34:59which is yeah, no carbs and all that kind of stuff. How did
- 35:01he do it for He's been doing it for a few months and he is
- 35:04just shit shit ton of weight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean,
- 35:07I don't know. I mean, I'm not so lope. I'm not
- 35:09Brendan Fraser on the whale here, but at the same time, I would
- 35:12like to be a little bit leaner and a little bit more energetic. Yeah.
- 35:15Yeah, And calves are the killer. Oh yeah, I mean yeah,
- 35:19calves and sugar are out. I've cut sugar at it months ago.
- 35:22It's just sugar was just the big one for me. Well that's the thing.
- 35:24I mean. But the occasionally be like, you know, it would
- 35:27be really nice, would be a twis Yeah, but then you can't,
- 35:30can you? Well now I can't. That sucks. It would be really
- 35:36nice. Is this celery sticks some moments? Also not bad? So that's
- 35:42a prison to me. I know, I'm in a prison on my own
- 35:45making. You're living in Flander's household. Now, not if you had my
- 35:50you know, Guacan scrambled egg mix with the with the hot sauce mix.
- 35:53Did I tell you? I bought the box of like went on Amazon,
- 35:57not using your gift card yet. But there's this local hot sauce manufacturer and
- 36:00they were doing the four pack and it was marked down, and I'm like,
- 36:04I'm getting some of that action, because time to be a hot sauce
- 36:07guy. Hot sauce guys who were very much a genre, They're very much
- 36:10they're very much a type of person. It reminds me of like guy Fierra
- 36:14whatever name. Yeah, yeah, he seems like a hot sauce guy.
- 36:16I think there's a lot of them, and I'm like, I'll give these
- 36:21a try, and you know, one of them, it's very ousy that
- 36:24there's really playing out the auzziness. It was like, may cause anal leakage.
- 36:28One's called chane or leakage. Yeah, one's called ship the bed all
- 36:30this kind of stuff. You can just say it's hot. Yes, it's
- 36:35the average way funny, but yeah, splash onto that on your eggs and
- 36:39avocas. I burned the ship out of my taste, budder. Now,
- 36:44I don't want to eat anything hot sauces? Can you have because sauces have
- 36:46carved in them. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that like ketchup and barbecue sauce
- 36:51and all that sauce is full of sugar though, well that's the thing,
- 36:53so yeah, off, you can't he kind of ketchup either to the best
- 36:59mind standing. Oh man, that's all right, because I'm not sorry for
- 37:02you. Don't be. When I started in here and start podcasting with my
- 37:09shirt off, he'd be like, maybe goes under something just way about just
- 37:15diet and exercise. Just just exercise and eat balanced at the diet. I'm
- 37:20doing that as well. Yeah, I'm walking four k's a day. Nothing
- 37:23like untossing I leftover salad. It'll be like, no, whoa, what
- 37:30the heck are these? Those are my medical samples? Heads off your big
- 37:36blue button, skik blood, biospinal fluid, blood other phlam, miscellaneous ooze,
- 37:45miscellaneous ooze. I'm just I'm not sure about that one. That's what
- 37:49comes out of Like Jet has his weeping eyes sometimes and you look at you'
- 37:52like, what is this ooze? It looks like what the Ninja turtles like
- 37:55the secret of the miscellaneous ooze. But they're now in bed and Marge wants
- 38:01a night out, but home is just not listening at all. Then Grandpa
- 38:06walks in and he's scarce who wants to sleep across them? I'll do this
- 38:08everythingle night with Alliot. He just gets to the point that we would just
- 38:10like just want to start in our bed mate, because we know you're just
- 38:13gonna come in during the night anyway, Paddy or summer arrive. I was
- 38:16not too sure. I did like that look at someone who frequently mixes up
- 38:21Penny in summer, Yes to arrives to watch the kids because basically they don't
- 38:25trust Grandpa. He didn't defends Grandpa though, you know he got so mad
- 38:29with Santa didn't bring us presents every year. Then they both are sitting there
- 38:32just passing the time. The kids are playing stuck on Lemon drops Lemon candy.
- 38:37Yeah, and that was the close ups. Maybe me uncomfortable, just
- 38:40gross. Guy rocked up with chew you today and I was like, you
- 38:43will not be chewing that during this podcast he dropped the M word. What
- 38:47I say, you said midched it that all, And I must admit I
- 38:53had forgotten that I was chewing gum. I know what you're wondering, how
- 38:58come a single woman with so much strong offer is a long on a Saturday
- 39:00night. I assume you were resting up for bingo tomorrow like me, My
- 39:06numbers don't get called much these days. You're a kidding, a sweet young
- 39:12thing like you. That's the first time anyone's ever put an adjective before calling
- 39:17me a thing. And basically she just gets turned to my grand But I'm
- 39:21just like, I get it that. You know she's sad, she's lonely
- 39:24for male attention grandpa. You've known him for how long? Male? Yeah,
- 39:30it's Freed And they pitched this story as part of that You Never Stop
- 39:35the Simpsons. Remember that song backing gump Ross at the end that Dan Castlena
- 39:38wrote, Oh, it's like about a crazy wedding, and it was these
- 39:42guys in the winning So you've you've gone to one of those ridiculous Look.
- 39:46The jokes in that episode were, look how crazy we might get. We
- 39:50went really, you went there? They probably look at him going what.
- 39:54Yeah? You also get the subtitle on Disney Plus at least erotic moaning moaning?
- 40:00Oh yeah, what's your favorite subtitle for netlics? Mine is like indistinct
- 40:05chatter? I like either evocative music, yeap, anyone who decides anyone who's
- 40:14hard of heroes going, I'm sure it is, yeah, But it's like,
- 40:16who decides yep, that's evocative? Is it AI that decides? Or
- 40:21is there someone that decides what top of music? Is that evocative? Do
- 40:24you guys agree? I go with evocative? Evocative it is? I reckon
- 40:29it must be the case, although it has to be is going to become
- 40:30for that shit eventually? Yeah, surely? And talking Bear is it in
- 40:35my father dad? Do you know what you were kissing? Doyo toyo?
- 40:40Yeah, I know who I was kissing, and I also know why I'm
- 40:45a little shaky on un and where, But I got my series. I
- 40:49never ever want to see that again. Oh the hell with you? I
- 40:52just might ask that sell a girl out and you can't tell me not to
- 40:57my roof, my rules? Oh why did I barrel that roof from him?
- 41:01Wise guy then asks for Bart's company name. He's dropping off some boxes.
- 41:07He goes to dog Incorporated, and he doesn't know the details about it,
- 41:10prefers not to know. But Liza's got a suggestion of things to do,
- 41:15like a list, and he laughs at built a fart, but she
- 41:16suggest build a fort. Then somewhere and aber on their date, and Abe
- 41:21suggested they start spending some time together. So someone's like, oh, well,
- 41:24what does she think they were doing? Yeah, she's like surprised at
- 41:28this moment. She's like, oh no, no, I didn't. I
- 41:29didn't mean that. It's like, why you want a date with him then,
- 41:31especially after you've passed. But she's just they split a garlic bread,
- 41:38slow down your hussy. Then we get the montage with the song is it
- 41:43called just? Is she really going out with him? Yeah? Yeah?
- 41:45Basically as face melts and she puts brings back up. They look at the
- 41:49Manhattan poster and then she's doing compressions in the car, which is funny.
- 41:52Went out the beach and just having fun playing in the water. Perhaps was
- 41:54not a fan at all. They come over and they give him some ship
- 41:58the garbage barge. She's gona play of his smell. Wasn't all frolicking in
- 42:01the water. We came up with that gag? Yeah, over is now
- 42:04annoyed at Mo's This is a really sure scene. Just basically says you're open
- 42:07casting material. Yeah, word's hurt. And then he runs out and I
- 42:09was like, what you've been saying mean things his whole episode. Thanks for
- 42:15stopping by Mo. Yeah, and that's it. Patty suggested a plan and
- 42:20this is I've got this guy. I would have hated this. I'm looking
- 42:23with details or the big picture. I shot up blade and usually drunk,
- 42:27I've got a good feeling about this. I was like, oh the whisper.
- 42:32I didn't hate it, but at the same time, it's like,
- 42:35you're over selling this. Yeah, butt Lissa, I've now built that fort.
- 42:38That's a hell of a a lot of boxes. Pretty cool box foot.
- 42:42I loved building forts when I was a kid with my sister with the
- 42:44couch cushions watching rage, so I too was very partial this watching countdown Countdown
- 42:49that was a Saturn Sunday night, wasn't it. It was Sunday. Well,
- 42:52it was on a Sunday night, and then they would do the they
- 42:53would repeat it on the Saturday night, Saturday night. That's cool a week
- 42:58later basically, yes, and then the new one the next the next one
- 43:00the next night, just a reminder. That's great. Yeah. I missed
- 43:04when we older sat her on the TV together at the same time. It
- 43:06was nice. It was watching things when they when we like when it was
- 43:09on because you had to. But now Lisa makes parts say the password.
- 43:15I love my sister. I really like Yardley's laugh there. It's like smug
- 43:19but cute. Yeah. And the wise guy arrives because it was wise guy
- 43:23rights like him, yeah yeah, and putting on the British accent a little
- 43:28bit. Yeah, demands they give it back. Hey, you little brets,
- 43:32get down from those battlements. Those boxes are for shipping, not for
- 43:37creating a world of pure imagination. Give them back, not to we're bird
- 43:42with them. Now begun, I shall go, but I will return with
- 43:46an army of my brethren, and together we shall take back what is ours,
- 43:51and hell will rain down upon you. Every year we will come two
- 43:58more times, and then you have to come to our customer center. It's
- 44:04near the airport where the old Crown Books used to be. Then Homer and
- 44:07Patty they're sorting out their their mental images. What they're gonna have to think
- 44:10of when they're making out to trick Grandpa and Homer's become estevant de la sex
- 44:15face is that is it did a whisper again? That means I don't know
- 44:21sex face. I don't think he whispers it, okay, just explains seasons.
- 44:24Yeah, and he imagines Marge in various costumes and I was like,
- 44:28what diggedy damn. And then Patty thinks of my love edny kay and I
- 44:32was like hot, digity damn. Grandpa then sees them as he's walking past.
- 44:37I thought we really had something. And then someone who arrives. Guy
- 44:45loves accents, so that will wait for him. That I went from hating
- 44:49it to love it. Then Homers said, you know, I always tream
- 44:52my father would die hold him alone. And Grandpa says, not even a
- 44:55thousand crazy schemes could tear them apart. So he proposes it'll happened very fast.
- 45:00It's like, now you've been on one day, now you're getting married.
- 45:04I suppose have been. Vario states, we have the montage. Who
- 45:06knows how long it's been, but it couldn't have been that long, No,
- 45:08because Barton and Le's have the fort story going on. Yeah, I
- 45:12think it's only been a matter but either a week or two weeks. Yeah,
- 45:15it can't be too much. Yeah, but they're at the wedding and
- 45:19Homers throwing the rice makes the birds explode. That is one of those open
- 45:22myths. Does it actually make birds sick? It's one of these things that
- 45:24people someone someone made that up and then was just like everyone just went with
- 45:29it. Yeah, or mean, do you throw anything at weddings? Now?
- 45:31You don't really do rose pedals? I think love flower petals, okay,
- 45:35but not confetti anymore. No, remember, that's that's not when people
- 45:38like balloons go. It's like you realize how many birds are gonna die because
- 45:42they're gonna get one of those balloons pop. The things that are hold in
- 45:44the air in dropped to the ground and birds eat them from the water.
- 45:47But yeah, nothing solves everything forever like a wedding, as much as that's
- 45:51the most marginal line ever. Right, Oh yeah, there's her capacity for
- 45:55delusion is kind of lovable. Grandpa then takes off his shoes. Lad,
- 46:00I waited, and then he's got one strip policy. No wife of mine
- 46:04ever has to work shoes off. Ain't bad either. I love getting home
- 46:07to take my shoes off. When I used to have to go to work,
- 46:09take my shoes off, like honestly, sometimes the kids are like feral
- 46:13I said to Elliott, take your shoes off. He takes your shoes like,
- 46:15calms him. Damn. It's just like that's why I have to sleep
- 46:17with my feet out of the blanket. I can't sleep my feet in.
- 46:20I am all I am always feet out. Yeah, Nicholas, the opposite.
- 46:23She wears socks under the blanket. I'm like, how much earth do
- 46:28you do this so you're not burning alive? Big thick bushy socks every night
- 46:32in bed with her feet under the blankets. That's actually her feet. Let
- 46:39us know in the comments if you are a feet in your feet out person,
- 46:43I think most of it has to be feet out, right, I
- 46:45think especially of a summer Oh absolutely, yeah, it's got to start with
- 46:49feet out. They'll make their way back and eventually yeah. Yeah. But
- 46:52someone says here that she knows she's just been offered a promotion at the DMV,
- 46:54and Grandpa says, I've got a job at pam Am. This is
- 46:58where we get the whole know, I thought you were at the circus lease
- 47:00and I'm just like, oh, this is uncomfortable. Uncomfortable someone that gets
- 47:05home from work. She's back late. Grandpa has told Mim. I think
- 47:08it's Mim the daughter, right, I think so. Yeah. All various
- 47:10war stories, but kid versions of them. They to tickle us out with
- 47:15machine guns or machine hugs and fun throwers. Yeah, she's still a bit
- 47:19creeped out by it. Button Lisa. Then watching delivery guys all arrive.
- 47:22Who knew guys in brown shirts could cause so much trouble? And I was
- 47:24like, why, Yeah, should we even go into it? They knew
- 47:29what they were talking about. Nelson arrives to help out the kids as they've
- 47:31been taken on by the delivery guys. The delivery guys or bailgo eventually,
- 47:36and then they decide, now that they've done that, let's just melt boxing.
- 47:37I love boxing him palace. That was a good name for it.
- 47:39Oh yeah, they melt it with the water. But the dragon is still
- 47:43there. When that dragon arrived, I was like, what is happening here?
- 47:47Also, this felt like a riff on the two towers, but I
- 47:50don't really think you had the flying works until the Return of the King.
- 47:55Apparently meant to be a mismash of the two. That's funny. I guess
- 48:00I'll allow it. You take off that genius at work T shirt. Summer
- 48:05is now killing it at work, Selma, walk with me. The new
- 48:08traffic cones are held up in Harrisburg. Go to the costume store, get
- 48:13a hundred wizard hats and a bucket of orange paint. I love that we've
- 48:15lost the answer keeper written test number seven ac DAA CBBC A. You are
- 48:22what I want to be, Selma. The divider broke and the driver's test
- 48:25line is mixing with a license renewal line. Hey, re newbies, stay
- 48:30on your side. You and what line divider is going to make me.
- 48:35I shaved my legs to the knees for this. One of the workers that
- 48:39ask for a question looks just like mo after you had that plastic surgery that
- 48:43time the episode. Yeah, well you're doing that calendar. Yeah. Grappa
- 48:47then puts Mim to sleep. He's a cup of tea. Basically, it's
- 48:51just an old man who doesn't know how to operate anything. Oh yes,
- 48:53he's got a ship down, a new appliances and doesn't know how any of
- 48:57them work. Yeah. It puts blender on the stove, make slapjacks,
- 49:00and a CD player which is dated now, but I'm just like, no,
- 49:02don't do it, especially oh the six six CD player. Yeah,
- 49:08that's pretty nice. Puts the vhs in the microwave for two hours the runtime
- 49:14two hours, that's kind of funny, and everything just explodes. Thinks the
- 49:16hose is the fire brigade. Someone them gives a presentation at work. She
- 49:20gets mocked for it. Says it's all because she's stressed out, and I'm
- 49:22like, is it really that bad what she did? Like? She no,
- 49:24she has made one little slipper. Yeah, Bailey straight, and you
- 49:29guys know how to fix it. Be easy to fix. But Grandpa then
- 49:30arrives with Mim, I'm wet and scared and the house hates me. So
- 49:35she says, oh. The guy says, this is the DMV. We're
- 49:37about getting things done. So she I've got he quits her job. She
- 49:43just like walks out. She pulls like a who's the dad in elf that
- 49:47leaves? Oh, so James car James kn't. Yeah, he just he
- 49:50basically is like, if you leave now, don't come back, and he
- 49:52just walks out with his son. This is kind of what moment was,
- 49:55just like we get things done. She's like, I'm going home and I'm
- 49:58like, did she just quit her job for Ampa? It's not explained.
- 50:01That's a good point. Yeah, but anyway they replaced her because like how
- 50:05we're going to replace her? They put the next window through there, they
- 50:07decide some and Grandpa the marriage is not going to work. It's like,
- 50:12you don't think. Grandpa then says that you, Joe, you'll find someone
- 50:15eventually, and then they have this nice slow dance. But it was kind
- 50:17of sweet. It was sweet, but it's just but it shouldn't have happened
- 50:21in the first It makes their relationship going forward, so fucking awkward now true,
- 50:24yes, because they probably boned. They probably boned, and they think
- 50:29it's so weird. It's just so weird. But Homer is now dressed in
- 50:34his costume for Marge and how long is Senor Homer out of town for?
- 50:37And they're doing't role playing? He flees at the windows, getting it all
- 50:40wrong, and it's back in his underwear. Where is he? Where is
- 50:44he? And much I don't think we're doing this right? Yeah? Role
- 50:47playing? Hey, And that is the end of Remiold and Julie. Like
- 50:53we said, not a terrible episode, but just a confusing one, an
- 50:57odd one, a mish mesh, yeah, a grab bag. What do
- 51:01we learn, Bomber? What'd you learn from the episode? Mister Davis that
- 51:06Esterbarn is apparently Spanish for Steven. That's exactly what I had By what I
- 51:09learned, I didn't no idea. I'm like, it makes sense, but
- 51:13I had no idea. My well, that was my new impression from talking
- 51:16about this episode. My initial what I learned from this episode was I'm not
- 51:20the only one who can't tell Patty and somewhere a part yeah true. Yeah.
- 51:22I also learned that you never trust a man in a brown T shirt
- 51:25from miss d Forward. Your names will be oh right, mister Davis.
- 51:30It is time for the New Name Championship, the first New Name Championship of
- 51:32twenty twenty four. The current leaderboard stands at this in first position were Philip
- 51:37Jay Hawkins on sixteen points. In second position, we have a two way
- 51:42time Kyle muldoon and Luke McKay both on eleven. Hit me all right.
- 51:46One point goes to boxing Day. Boxing Day is our man, Andrew JP.
- 51:52Has he been on the leaderboard at all this this? I'm not sure.
- 51:54I don't think we ever hear his name outside of the mailbag. I
- 51:57don't think we do. Andrew j P. Well done, you're now on
- 52:00on the lead wor one point, Well done, you're a double threat.
- 52:01Well done, sir. Two points go to Daddy and Selma. That would
- 52:07be Philip Jay Hawkins. Good name, it's not bad from the hawk.
- 52:10Yep, yep. That put him now in seventeen points. He's just gotten
- 52:13even further away from the from Kyle Clevi Kyle and Luke McKay and who got
- 52:16three points. Well, let's see if the gap can be closed with this
- 52:21one. Because three points goes to abe gap very good, and that is
- 52:25Oh that's clever Kyle. So clever Kyle is now outright second position on fourteen
- 52:30points. He is only three points behind. Now all right, so hit
- 52:34me with the leadboard. So it's Philip Jay Hawkins on seventeen. Yes,
- 52:37it is Kyle Marldoon on fourteen and Luke McKay on eleven. It's a horse
- 52:39race. It is a horse race, Yes it is. Indeed, all
- 52:43right, don't forget. You're just gonna be part of you just gonna get
- 52:45your name right out once to go into the wild card. Even if you
- 52:47don't win, you get to go into the wild card. But we have
- 52:49Philip Jay Hawkins seventeen, Carle mile done on fourteen, and we have Luke
- 52:52McKay on e eleven points. All right, miss, it is time for
- 52:55the mailbag. Mailbag bail is here. All right, here we go.
- 53:01First question here from Pat right, our man, co host of the Office
- 53:06Stop podcast Availble on the four for can Discount network Check it Out. Just
- 53:08finished season one of the Office, the US version. He says, what's
- 53:12the biggest age gap you've had while in Simpsons terms snuggling? So I was
- 53:16eighteen, she was thirty five. What's that seventeen years? Seventeen years?
- 53:21Okay, you beat me. I'm I was seeing someone. There was about
- 53:25fifteen years between us. Okay, yeah they were younger, right, yes,
- 53:30but really yeah? So how long ago? Was this about? Ten
- 53:34years ago? Yeah? Are we going for the kids? Good for you,
- 53:37not as in like kids kids. I don't know what you're talking about.
- 53:45That's awesome, man, good for you a very sweet girl. Yeah,
- 53:47okay, our next question here, Andrew Swan, who's the weirdest on
- 53:52screen couple that you found had surprising chemistry? That's a good question for you.
- 53:55That isn't wrong. You didn't think they were going to have chemistry and
- 53:59then they somehow mat to pull it off. Doesn't ever have to be a
- 54:01couple really, just be like a duo, like who's like an action duo
- 54:06or something. It's like, these two guys are going to work as a
- 54:07buddy cop, you know what I mean. I'm sure I've dropped the name
- 54:12Midnight Run many many times over the course of our podcasting career. Fantastic Yeah.
- 54:19Buddy Action Comedy came out the same cap came out the same week as
- 54:22Die Hardly came back in nineteen ninety eight, starring the great Robert Denia and
- 54:28the late great Charles Groden, who you know have fairly different styles, and
- 54:34you know a lot of people were sort of talked about for the role that
- 54:37Groden played in this movie where Dania is a bounty hunter and he has to
- 54:42get this account who has embezzled millions dollars from the mob and get him one
- 54:45side of the country to the other before he gets killed and everybody's after them.
- 54:49It's great, great, great, great movie. They were looking at
- 54:52Robin Williams, they were looking at what year was this, This is eighty
- 54:55eight, eighty ak. Yeah, they're looking at Share at some stage,
- 55:00kind of doing a bit of a gender flip on it. They looked at
- 55:00a whole bunch of actors, and you know, Groden was one of these
- 55:04guys I've been around forever, very well respected, very well regarded, but
- 55:07never quite broken through. And Denia said, no, he's the guy.
- 55:12He's the one we're going with. And even if he wasn't top draw a
- 55:14box office, and they just had the best fucking chemistry you could. They
- 55:19really antagonized each other, but you could tell that they were Have you never
- 55:23seen that? I might be on Netflix. Sorry, it's pretty sure it's
- 55:27on some streamer, if not my desk, because yeah, it's a it's
- 55:30a really fantastic movie, and they're so good in it together, just play
- 55:36off each other so well, and it's not necessarily something you would expect because
- 55:38yeah, they seem like very very different actors with very very different styles.
- 55:44But it's just a chocolate and peanut. But you know who doesn't have chemistry?
- 55:49Nick and I are halfway through halfway through Broken Arrow, right, Ah.
- 55:57Yeah, it was on Disney Place, and I was like, this
- 55:59seems like face Off esque nineties action movie, right, Christian Slater and Samantha
- 56:05Matt Samantha Mathis. She's fucking horrific in that movie. Her acting is so
- 56:09bad. Yeah, here's something. Yeah, and she bet the president of
- 56:13the Actors Guild or whatever something like that. But it's very very interesting you
- 56:17say that, because this is the second time they were in a movie together,
- 56:21and the first time was in Bona Fardi gen X classic called Pump Up
- 56:25the Volume. Okay, have you ever heard no Our Pale's friends of the
- 56:30podcast The Rewatchables on the ring A Network. I was listening to a podcast.
- 56:35So there's recently where they were talking about and say it embedded podcasting,
- 56:37because essentially he Christian Slayer is this guy who's moved from New York to this
- 56:44small town in Arizona. His parents gave him a CBE radio or a Ham
- 56:46radio setup so he could sort of talk to his friends back home, and
- 56:50instead he sets up this little pirate radio station where he's just playing with this
- 56:52cool music and sort of talking about how it sucks, how life sucks,
- 56:55and soamtth and Methis is the cool girl who sort of falls in love with
- 56:59him and knowing who he is, and they have just incredible chemistry in that
- 57:02movie. Wow, because in Broken Arrow they do not. People tend to
- 57:07like Broken Out. But I'm so disappointed with the movie. I was like,
- 57:10just be fucking awesome and it's just John Woo's the director, and I'm
- 57:15like, that's the thing, what's happening here? Because it comes to a
- 57:16hard target, which is you know who's first American movie, which is pretty
- 57:20good, the Van Damn movie and Face Off, which is of course just
- 57:22a masterpiece. And yeah, I remember it because I was like just card
- 57:27carrying John wu guy. Back in ninety six when it came out, I
- 57:30was like, oh, I can't wait for this, and Travola's hot off,
- 57:32you know, whole fiction and then get short Michael Phenomenon I think was
- 57:38about this time as well. Phenomena was great, but it was a really
- 57:40a fun movie. It's a very thinly valed scientology. Yeah, but it's
- 57:45still pretty fun. And yeah, I sort of came out of Broken Our
- 57:47going not quite it. Yeah, but we're only just the first missile was
- 57:52just exploded, right, the roleter is having fun. I'm like, I
- 57:55said to Nicola. She goes, I'm going to bed in a minute to
- 57:58so you know. And I was like, well, the movie's not finish,
- 58:00and she's like, no, it's not. And I was like,
- 58:01miss, I was about to explain it. Of course, it was like
- 58:04thirteen minutes until miss exposed. Of course it's another finished I'm like, forty
- 58:07five minutes ago. What the hell is going on here? This is like
- 58:09when and I were watching Open Home and the other night. Yeah, guys
- 58:13like, well they're about to, you know, do the first test of
- 58:16the of the bomb. She's like, well, then that's when we'll wrap
- 58:21up, right, sort of showed to them. They're still got an how
- 58:24to go like what Nicholas like, yeah, I'm not both like because we
- 58:31love like chivolt In like the nineties, like that genre of action flickt from
- 58:36like John we can't go wrong, right, And I was sitting there and
- 58:38I think we're about half an hour and I can just sense in the room
- 58:40like one of us has to say that, And then Nicholas like, she's
- 58:44terrible, right, I'm like, she's fucking terrible. Yeah, that's too
- 58:46bad. I like, I mean again, like I think like a lot
- 58:51of Generation X guys and particularly a certain type of Generation next dude who's like,
- 58:55because we had to cool good the wind, you skid me. Just
- 58:59she is the She is the epitome of that in Pump up the Volume.
- 59:01So it's kind of said that didn't really flesh out for I mean, not
- 59:07acting wise, but she became the president of the of guilt that consistently.
- 59:12But it's like Nicola, she says, Christian Slater. I say Christian Slater,
- 59:15right. I love the guy. I love him right. I just
- 59:19could not buy him as a top built action star. No no, I
- 59:22was talking about this with a good buddy of mine online now something like you
- 59:25describe pump Up the Volume there, right, it reminds me of the kind
- 59:29of like guy you'd see in like, how's the film that Tarantino made with
- 59:34him True True? That kind of like that's his that's his avenue. He's
- 59:38got Slater's got three really good, really defining movies. He's got Heathers,
- 59:45Pump Up the Volume and True Romance in. There are some okay movies and
- 59:50some supporting rolls and some stuff, but generally it's kind of like, yeah,
- 59:53not quite, just not quiet. I'm just like you just you seem
- 59:58like the guy they get when they could for the big star. And I'm
- 1:00:00like, because, yeah, volt I see. Maybe John was like,
- 1:00:06I'm gonna turn this guy into a big an action start, but I'm like,
- 1:00:08I just can't buy him taking on John ta Volta John de Volter in
- 1:00:12that film. She's big, brooding. No. Look, even Slatter is
- 1:00:15probably my age. He's probably in his fifties now, yeah, and yeah,
- 1:00:20but he still seems like a boy. Yeah. I mean there are
- 1:00:23actors of my sort of generation who you're looking at him how as like,
- 1:00:28I mean, even ones who still seen relative youth like Ethan Hawk. It's
- 1:00:30like, no, you're you're a man, You've been around, you've done
- 1:00:32some shit. Yeah, we're a slavey. You sort of look at him
- 1:00:36and go you never quite fully grew up, or to me at least,
- 1:00:39so yeah, that's why I just couldn't buy him taking on Vaulter. Yeah,
- 1:00:43no, you're right. Yeah, it's a shame. I mean,
- 1:00:45and she's just there going, what do we do it? Now? I've
- 1:00:51got to pump up the volume on DVD in one of those cardboard cases.
- 1:00:54I'll bring it over and you can take your pee wee by the way,
- 1:00:58excuse you're pee wee? Get home? How many times has Lou said that
- 1:01:01to me? All right, let's do one more question, shall we?
- 1:01:05I think that was Forever Swanny, That was Andrew Swan, Yes, but
- 1:01:12you didn' give them an answer. It was pop up? No, it
- 1:01:15was who was Midnight Run? Not Ry? That's right, yeah, Josh,
- 1:01:19Hellia Hamilton. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where two people
- 1:01:22you know that shouldn't be together because it will end badly get together? Oh?
- 1:01:29No, I'm terrible at that kind of thing, though, In terms
- 1:01:31of like why don't you set so and so up with so and so.
- 1:01:34I just it's like, no, I's not my job. Yeah, I
- 1:01:37have no aptitude for this. Yeah I haven't. You said Louise once was
- 1:01:39just like set up your friends and it's like I don't want to because it
- 1:01:43doesn't work out. It's on you, you know. Oh yeah, I
- 1:01:45mean you're vouching for somebody, and never vouch for somebody. Never never vouch
- 1:01:52because you don't know what they're I mean you can be very very close friends
- 1:01:54with them, but you don't know what they're going to be like in a
- 1:01:57romantic capacity. Everyone's different. Everyone is very very everyone is very very different.
- 1:02:01Let's go to Harrison mccluy. Did you guys have build a fort or
- 1:02:04have a treehouse etctera as a kid. Yeah, well've explained the forts.
- 1:02:07Yeah we have. I never had a treehouse. I always wanted a treehouse.
- 1:02:09There was a treehouse built at my old house when I was a late
- 1:02:13teenager, early twenties. A treehouse is such it like a platform. Yeah,
- 1:02:16that's still cool up in this Morton Bay fig tree. That was like
- 1:02:20you, Yeah, it's just the climb the tree to get to it.
- 1:02:22Though you did the platforms are Sometimes you don't eat a house. Sometimes just
- 1:02:24the platforms enough Flanny, and I mean I just know this is when I
- 1:02:28was smoking cigarettes, I'd go out there and smoke a Dorry smoking Darry.
- 1:02:32I wonder if anyone else outside Australia is what that means. Smoke it Dorry.
- 1:02:36It means I was smoking a fact. I mean, wait a minute,
- 1:02:39have any sticks? Andrew JP. Final one we didn't get Andrew JP.
- 1:02:45We don't get three, Andrew JP. It's not a mail bag without
- 1:02:50knowing Andrew JP's message. Thank you Andrew JP for continuing to keep the mail
- 1:02:53bag nice and stuffed. If you could marry off two Simpsons side characters,
- 1:02:58who would it be? And why? I feel like missus Kay and when
- 1:03:01she's gone now Unfortunately she deserved love. She got it with Flanders. Actually
- 1:03:06she got it with Flanders. But two side characters? Who are the we
- 1:03:09know we did the conspiracy theory one from the more recent episodes like Home are
- 1:03:14the great No No no no from the more recent episodes, it SEMs like
- 1:03:17a thirty something Oh they did the conspiracy ones? Yeah yeah, and we
- 1:03:21and we covered it, didn't we know you? Sure? Yeah? Did
- 1:03:24we talk about it on something. I'm pretty sure we talked about it in
- 1:03:28some episode. There was the episode where Homer became like the master of the
- 1:03:31conspiracy theory and he sort of had this group of people around him and they
- 1:03:35were various characters and I'm wondering if but it was oh so and Miss Hoover.
- 1:03:38That's when Gil in Miss Hoover. Yes, that's what we did it
- 1:03:43on The Sisters Index. I know the one you mean, yeah, okay,
- 1:03:45because there was an episode where it's all various conspiracy no conspiracy theories,
- 1:03:50but Simpson's theories, and they take the piece out of them. Basically all
- 1:03:52the Simpsons predicted this and all that kind of stuff, you know what I
- 1:03:54mean. That was a season thirty episode. But we did this one,
- 1:03:57which was I believe the first episode of season thirty four. That sounds about
- 1:04:00right. Yeah, And but two unlikely characters ended up together and they didn't
- 1:04:04stay together. And you're like, oh yeah, because I was thinking,
- 1:04:06I mean, if it's Gil and Miss Hoover, that's fine, but I
- 1:04:09was thinking maybe Cook then out in the Missover, Who's who's a sidecarage that
- 1:04:13you think deserves love? That's never really had it well, I mean Lenny,
- 1:04:17Yeah, but he's had it, has an he has he has he
- 1:04:20I'm trying to recall, Yeah, what's sure Like they used to say that
- 1:04:24he was married one time Homa was calling him or shaving someone's legs and stuff
- 1:04:27like that. I mean, I think my go to was always going to
- 1:04:30be Mo. Yeah. Had the relationships yeah, given this progressive age that
- 1:04:34we're in. I mean, we've seen Smithers with some you know, maybe
- 1:04:40I think in the latest seasons he might have Yeah, but that'd be nice
- 1:04:43for sure. Already, Well, that is the mail bag for Romeo,
- 1:04:46Old and Julie. At the next episode of four Thing a discount we shall
- 1:04:49be reviewing. Oh it was Hamarazzi. I remember really enjoying this one.
- 1:04:53Hope becomes a paparazzi. I'm a Nazi, so many Nazis, no no
- 1:04:58homarazzi. Yeah, basically hoping become poparazzi and just take photos of all the
- 1:05:00celebrities. And I think I recall this one. I remember, and I
- 1:05:03remember in this being one of the ones where I was like, I know,
- 1:05:05some of these episodes of shit, but this one's all right. Yeah,
- 1:05:10in that case, can't wait over two weeks ago when Yoko Chords just
- 1:05:12blew us away. That's correct. Yes, hopefully let's go into this one
- 1:05:15with low expectations and hopefully it comes out with high expectations, unlike say,
- 1:05:19Broken Arrow, would you go into with high expectations? Like oh man,
- 1:05:23and I'm like, I hate it. It's a couple of things, And
- 1:05:24I'm like, I like this genre too much too. If I didn't like
- 1:05:29this genre, I'd be ripping this movie to shreds, right, But I'm
- 1:05:31just like, I'm just going to pretend, like I mean, I'm just
- 1:05:33going to ignore the faults of this movie because I want to like it.
- 1:05:36Do you ever watch a movie and go, oh, no, this is
- 1:05:39no good, but I'm just gonna roll the punches. Certainly? Yeah,
- 1:05:43more times? More times? You said Rebel Moon was really good? Right?
- 1:05:48Don't watch Rebel Moon? Apparently? Is that your review? That is
- 1:05:51probably my suggestion to you. Do you not watch er? Go in with
- 1:05:57very guarded expectations, You guys, don't forget. You can vote on the
