- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Getting to Know You, a Laughs
- 0:16Speaker 1: Unlimited edition. I'm here with our upcoming headliner, Akeem Woods. Hey, Akeem.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hey, how's it going? Good.
- 0:25Speaker 1: How are you doing?
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm great. Thanks for asking.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So we were just talking about how I booked you,
- 0:31Speaker 1: which is not normally how I book comics, but you
- 0:34Speaker 1: came highly recommended by Hillary Hudson. She said you were hilarious.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Oh, well, shout out to Hillary. That's very sweet. She
- 0:42Speaker 2: is correct. I'm very funny.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear that because you are booked and
- 0:47Speaker 1: coming up at Laughs Unlimited. What have... I don't know
- 0:51Speaker 1: anything about you. What have you been doing? What have
- 0:54Speaker 1: you been done? What is your comedy like? Who are you?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Um.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I've been doing comedy for a long time. I started
- 1:01Speaker 3: comedy in 2010. I started in Orlando, Florida. I moved
- 1:07Speaker 3: to L.A. in 2016. I started doing comedy there. I
- 1:11Speaker 3: was there for four years. Then I booked Late Night.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I did Late Night, and I wrote on this TV
- 1:17Speaker 3: show on BET with Wanda Sykes. And then after I
- 1:23Speaker 3: finished doing that, I used that money to move to
- 1:25Speaker 3: New York because I hated L.A.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And....
- 1:29Speaker 3: I've been in New York ever since. I'm a regular
- 1:31Speaker 3: on Godfrey's podcast. I'm a regular on Way Up With
- 1:34Speaker 3: Andrea Lee on the radio.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And I've done a bunch of podcasts. I did Nicole
- 1:40Speaker 3: Byers' podcast. I did Horrible Decisions. And now I'm currently
- 1:45Speaker 3: on tour.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And coming to Sacramento. I am.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I'm coming to Sacramento.
- 1:52Speaker 1: The hot spot Sacramento, I bet.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It's actually my first time in Sacramento.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Okay. Very cool. Uh, I, I agree with your, um,
- 2:02Speaker 1: dislike for LA every time I, anytime I drive into LA,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, as soon as I hit the grapevine, I've just,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you know, it's all, uh, LA from there.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I think it's really pretty and I love my time there.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I got to play a lot of tennis. I And
- 2:20Speaker 3: it was what it was.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's just not a city for me.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I absolutely love New York and I'm very happy to be,
- 2:26Speaker 3: although it's freezing, but besides that, it's great.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I know you guys just had like a super huge
- 2:31Speaker 1: cold front.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we had like two blizzards.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I was stuck in Atlanta. I was doing gigs in
- 2:37Speaker 3: Atlanta and I was stuck for like two days.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But was it better to be stuck out of it
- 2:42Speaker 1: or would you have rather been stuck in it? I
- 2:46Speaker 1: would have, I was.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Cool being stuck in, Out of it because I was
- 2:49Speaker 3: in Atlanta and I love Atlanta. But if I was
- 2:51Speaker 3: in a city that I hated, I.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Would have rallied at home. That makes sense.
- 2:55Speaker 2: But Atlanta's great, so I didn't mind.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That's very cool. Very cool. Well, we're looking forward to
- 3:00Speaker 1: having you at Laughs Unlimited. I can't wait to see you.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And like I said, it's very odd for me not
- 3:05Speaker 1: to see a comic before I book them. So hopefully
- 3:09Speaker 1: nobody finds out that there's a secret back way entrance
- 3:13Speaker 1: to get into Laughs Unlimited.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I'm sure that won't be the case unless they listen
- 3:16Speaker 2: to this podcast. Oh!
- 3:18Speaker 1: Well, there's the problem. It's not a secret anymore. Well,
- 3:25Speaker 1: that's very cool. I'm super excited to have you. I'm
- 3:27Speaker 1: super excited to meet you. I have had no worries
- 3:30Speaker 1: about it. Like I said, it wasn't until we were
- 3:32Speaker 1: getting ready to do this podcast that I was like, where?
- 3:35Speaker 1: But Carlos said that you also have done Big Pine,
- 3:38Speaker 1: so I probably have seen you.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Probably.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But that was a few years ago.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That was a long, I think it was 2018 or 2019. Oh, wow.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Either 2018 or 2017. I don't remember exactly, but it
- 3:50Speaker 3: was a long time ago. Like this was back when
- 3:52Speaker 3: I still lived in LA.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And so was that, was that when it was still
- 3:55Speaker 1: in Flagstaff?
- 3:56Speaker 2: I believe it was. Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So that might've been, that's probably right around the
- 4:01Speaker 1: time that I started going, but Big Pine's great. They're
- 4:04Speaker 1: doing it in Chandler this year. It's actually in a
- 4:07Speaker 1: few weeks.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Oh, that's amazing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I had a fun time when I was there. It was,
- 4:11Speaker 2: it was, it was good.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It was a, A long time ago, so I don't
- 4:14Speaker 3: remember it. But I remember we went to the Grand
- 4:16Speaker 3: Canyon and I saw moose.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Oh, at the Grand Canyon? Uh-huh. Well, on the way, probably.
- 4:23Speaker 2: No, at the Grand Canyon. It was like a huge moose.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Really?
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I took a video. I remember taking a video
- 4:29Speaker 3: because I drove up there with a few LA comics.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And we went to the Grand Canyon on one of
- 4:33Speaker 3: the days just because it was close by.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And I remember I saw a moose. I took a video.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Oh, that's kind of cool. Yeah. We did the tour
- 4:43Speaker 1: at the Grand Canyon where you like go down inside
- 4:47Speaker 1: of it and see the machinery and stuff and how
- 4:50Speaker 1: it all works. It was Grand Canyon is really actually
- 4:53Speaker 1: very technical. If you think about it, like even the
- 4:58Speaker 1: building of it and everything, it's pretty awesome.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't do the tour. We probably should have,
- 5:03Speaker 2: but it was still fun.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good. And you know what I love when
- 5:08Speaker 1: I loved, to do like little side trips like that
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know having people get together and and you know
- 5:14Speaker 1: just doing side quests and little road trips i love
- 5:16Speaker 1: road trips so.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Me too i'm tired of them sometimes but they're still
- 5:20Speaker 3: fun after.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well yeah being a road comic and and being out
- 5:25Speaker 1: a lot i could see that but you know when
- 5:27Speaker 1: it's a fun thing.
- 5:29Speaker 2: It's different yeah i agree um uh.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I was trying to think, is, are there any other
- 5:36Speaker 1: festivals that you have done that you would recommend? Like
- 5:38Speaker 1: as a comic, just, I really.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Like this festival.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I did laughing school years ago. That was really fun.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I did, what is that one that I did?
- 5:50Speaker 2: That was amazing. But this was like invite only high planes,
- 5:54Speaker 2: high planes in Denver.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah. High planes in Denver was probably one of my
- 5:59Speaker 2: favorite festivals.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I haven't, I haven't even heard of that one. That's awesome.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But invite only, that's very cool. Is it like week long,
- 6:05Speaker 1: just a few days?
- 6:07Speaker 2: It's like a long weekend. So I think it's Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I believe.
- 6:13Speaker 1: What made it your favorite?
- 6:15Speaker 2: It was just great. It was invite only. It paid
- 6:17Speaker 2: really well.
- 6:18Speaker 3: It was one of those festivals where everyone that I,
- 6:21Speaker 3: like people that I'm very good friends with are all
- 6:23Speaker 3: on the festivals.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That makes a difference too.
- 6:26Speaker 3: And I just generally like Denver. I've always loved Denver.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So it was a really fun trip.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I love Denver. I've spent some time... Both of
- 6:35Speaker 1: my parents are from Denver, so I have spent my
- 6:38Speaker 1: fair share of time in Denver.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a really pretty city. I go like once
- 6:42Speaker 3: or twice a year, so it was a really fun time.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Very cool, very cool. Okay, are you ready for some
- 6:50Speaker 1: trivia questions? How do you feel about trivia in general?
- 6:53Speaker 2: I feel like I might be good at it. I
- 6:57Speaker 2: guess we'll find out.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It is a variety of topics, and if there... really
- 7:02Speaker 1: bad we just blamed carlos because he came up with
- 7:05Speaker 1: them that.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Is totally fine i'm all about blaming carlos.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yes have you met you've um carlos said he met
- 7:10Speaker 1: you and that you're hilarious he also stamped you thank
- 7:13Speaker 1: you uh okay are we ready question number one how
- 7:18Speaker 1: many indiana jones films are there.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Too many.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Didn't even like one.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Um, let's see. I didn't like any, I didn't like,
- 7:30Speaker 2: I didn't watch them. Not that I didn't like them,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but I'm going to guess three.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Oh, not too, not too far off. It was five.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Probably three was enough.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Probably.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Yeah. It was four and five probably weren't as good.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I think most things should just be trilogies.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I don't think a lot of things need to go
- 7:46Speaker 3: past the trilogy.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I could agree with that. I think, um, when, what
- 7:50Speaker 1: is it? Fast and the Furious, uh, wasn't the last
- 7:53Speaker 1: one a some sort of space thing or whatever i was.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Like yeah i've seen zero out of however many facets
- 8:00Speaker 3: i've seen none.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Of it nice i have seen i haven't seen them
- 8:04Speaker 1: all for sure and i went i went to see
- 8:07Speaker 1: one just because i like going to the movies and
- 8:08Speaker 1: i was like ah i'll go see this and i
- 8:11Speaker 1: took a friend who hadn't seen any of them i
- 8:13Speaker 1: was like well it's not really a plot type.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Of thing it's just it's just right.
- 8:20Speaker 1: You're not gonna miss anything and then i went and
- 8:22Speaker 1: i was like actually i haven't seen a couple because
- 8:27Speaker 1: now somebody else they're back to life or something i
- 8:29Speaker 1: said oh i don't know i don't know what number
- 8:31Speaker 1: we're on i.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Got a question then i got a question what's your
- 8:34Speaker 3: guys's favorite trilogy then oh that is a good question
- 8:39Speaker 3: favorite trilogy i have to see off the top of
- 8:41Speaker 3: my head i can't even think of.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Any trilogies uh so i'm gonna do some googling.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna i'm gonna say i don't know about favorite
- 8:51Speaker 1: trilogies but trilogies i've enjoyed like i like the divergent.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Series divergent was great i agree.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Um i liked hunger games but it's kind of getting
- 9:01Speaker 1: weird now because it's not a trilogy anymore now we've
- 9:04Speaker 1: added snakes and songbirds.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Well i think i think that can kind of be
- 9:08Speaker 3: a trilogy because they're doing prequels.
- 9:10Speaker 1: That's okay i don't think it still counts.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Hunger Games is definitely one. Oh, Matrix. Matrix,
- 9:16Speaker 2: for sure.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Okay, Matrix.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Matrix is my answer. Okay.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Final answer.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Final answer, Matrix.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. Carlos, what's yours?
- 9:29Speaker 2: I'm going to go Back to the Future. Part 1, 2,
- 9:32Speaker 2: and 3. I like Back to the Futures a lot.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. Back to the Futures were good. Okay. Um.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Name all the original colors of the Power Rangers.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Okay, there's blue, yellow, white, red, black, and pink.
- 9:59Speaker 1: There's a green.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Oh, I thought I said green. Yeah, green.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Well, you said white, which isn't on my answer, but
- 10:06Speaker 1: I thought there was a.
- 10:07Speaker 2: White one too.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Maybe it wasn't one of the original ones.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Was he not the original?
- 10:11Speaker 3: He was the guy with the little sword and he
- 10:15Speaker 3: played the stupid little....
- 10:17Speaker 1: Carlos likes to be tricky with these questions. No, he
- 10:19Speaker 1: changed to white later.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He was originally green. Oh.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And there's Eliana. Thank you to our engineers. The Power
- 10:29Speaker 1: Ranger kids.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Well, I stand corrected. And I thought he was one
- 10:32Speaker 3: of the originals. But then again, when I was watching
- 10:34Speaker 3: Power Rangers, I was in middle school.
- 10:39Speaker 2: So I don't know. Right, right.
- 10:42Speaker 1: We weren't right. I wasn't paying. That's what I was thinking, too.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know. I know that there
- 10:46Speaker 1: was a red one and a black one. You got
- 10:47Speaker 1: more than I would have got. I would have just
- 10:49Speaker 1: guessed all the primary colors.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was going for.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But OK, let's see. Question number three. Noah Wiley is
- 11:00Speaker 1: the star of what two shows based on hospitals?
- 11:04Speaker 2: The Pit, which was amazing. It's an Emmy. Yeah.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Emmy award winning show that I love. And then, what
- 11:12Speaker 3: is the other one? I didn't watch the other one.
- 11:16Speaker 3: But it's really popular. So The Pit is the one.
- 11:19Speaker 3: And then, not Grey's Anatomy. What's the other hospital drama?
- 11:27Speaker 1: I know, and it was on forever, too.
- 11:29Speaker 2: It was on forever. And I literally never watched it.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I was afraid of watching The Pit because I was like,
- 11:36Speaker 1: is this just going to be a remake of the
- 11:39Speaker 1: first one.
- 11:40Speaker 2: No it's so.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Much yeah i've heard i've heard great things about the pit.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Dang i guess i'm just gonna get a partial point
- 11:47Speaker 3: i don't know it's the pit it's not gray's anatomy
- 11:49Speaker 3: it's not what's another hospital.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Drama if you get hurt you go to the oh.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah the er okay so the pit and you
- 12:00Speaker 3: know i didn't watch it y'all but the pit is
- 12:02Speaker 3: amazing Yes.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah. I haven't watched it yet, but I have heard
- 12:05Speaker 1: great things about it. And so it's on my list
- 12:07Speaker 1: of things to do.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah. He's a great actor and it helps that he's,
- 12:10Speaker 2: he's hot.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Hello.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Number question. Number four, how many tablespoons are in a
- 12:18Speaker 1: stick of butter?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Who am I? Betty Crockett. I don't know.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Oh, so close. So close.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Was I? It's eight. Oh, it is close. Yeah, I've
- 12:34Speaker 2: never baked. I baked once and it came out terribly.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Not a baker.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I baked.
- 12:40Speaker 3: During the pandemic, I baked a red velvet cake and
- 12:43Speaker 3: it was not good.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I think during the pandemic was when everybody tried their
- 12:49Speaker 1: culinary skills.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I have the time.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I almost burnt down my apartment numerous times.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Oh, no. Let's not do that. Were you in, so
- 12:59Speaker 1: with your timeline, were you in New York during the pandemic?
- 13:02Speaker 2: No, thankfully I was in LA.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I was in LA with a bunch of roommates, which
- 13:07Speaker 3: was great because it was like fun.
- 13:08Speaker 2: And we were like, I live by myself in New
- 13:10Speaker 2: York and that would have been a nightmare.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Right. Well, and plus New York was the, I don't know.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I don't know that I would say epicenter, but it
- 13:19Speaker 1: was in the middle of all the media.
- 13:22Speaker 3: It was probably harder in New York because New York
- 13:24Speaker 3: is such a congested city.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 3: LA is, is decently spread out and we were playing
- 13:29Speaker 3: all the comics in LA. We're playing tennis. Like it
- 13:31Speaker 3: was fine.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So I was in LA.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Um, all right. What year did the iPhone come out?
- 13:41Speaker 2: Oh, okay. I might be able to know that. Okay.
- 13:42Speaker 3: So I, cause I remember I didn't get my first
- 13:46Speaker 3: phone until my junior year in high school and it
- 13:50Speaker 3: was a flip phone. So my junior high school was 2009. Um,
- 13:55Speaker 3: But I feel like I was also really poor. So
- 13:58Speaker 3: there probably was better phones out. I just couldn't afford them.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm going to say 2011.
- 14:10Speaker 1: It was 2007.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Really?
- 14:13Speaker 1: But also, I had one of the original ones. And
- 14:19Speaker 1: you couldn't even text pictures on it. Like it had
- 14:23Speaker 1: all this amazing technology and all this stuff that you
- 14:25Speaker 1: could do, but it was like the simple stuff that
- 14:28Speaker 1: you couldn't do. It was like, I could text a
- 14:31Speaker 1: picture from my flip phone and you can't text a
- 14:33Speaker 1: picture from.
- 14:34Speaker 2: That's weird. I thought it was way later.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah. It was weird.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 1: All right. Question number six, who is on the $ 50 bill?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Oh, dang it. I could cheat. I have $ 50 bill
- 14:49Speaker 2: in my wallet right now.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Um uh but i don't want to cheat let me
- 14:58Speaker 3: see who is on the 50 bill george washington is
- 15:03Speaker 3: on the one.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Lincoln's on the five i think.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Uh who's on the 20 is it hamilton on the
- 15:12Speaker 3: 20 uh maybe.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Grant Yes, you got it. You did better than me. Again,
- 15:23Speaker 1: I was like, it's Washington. I have that one. Hamilton,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm good.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Two for four. We're getting there.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That's all right. We're getting there. You got this one.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I have faith in you. What does DOA stand for?
- 15:37Speaker 2: DOA. Dead on arrival? Yeah. Okay. That's a weird question
- 15:48Speaker 2: to ask, but okay.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, again, we blame Carlos if we don't like the
- 15:52Speaker 1: questions or the answers.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yes, I love this. You got this one, too. Question
- 16:01Speaker 1: number eight in Blackjack. An ace can be valued as
- 16:05Speaker 1: what two numbers?
- 16:08Speaker 2: An ace can be one or eleven?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. cool yeah see all of a sudden you're
- 16:15Speaker 1: four for four i know.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It's like wendy's all over again.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Uh all right what was kevin hart's first special titled.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Uh i want to say laugh at my pain but
- 16:31Speaker 3: it could be seriously funny um.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Hmm which one was it was a laugh at my
- 16:40Speaker 2: pain or seriously funny I feel like it was seriously funny.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I feel like I give it away by my face.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I have to have a better poker face. It was
- 16:50Speaker 1: neither one, actually.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Oh, which one was it?
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm a grown little man.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I guess so.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I thought it was the laugh of my pain was
- 16:59Speaker 3: probably my favorite one. Maybe that's why I thought it
- 17:01Speaker 3: was his first.
- 17:02Speaker 1: But you were like, that was the first one I
- 17:05Speaker 1: paid attention to.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 3: But no, yeah, I remember that when I'm a grown
- 17:09Speaker 3: little man.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm wrong. I didn't know.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Do you have any specials out?
- 17:16Speaker 2: I don't.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I'm working on something right now, but I have nothing.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Besides the late night set and a don't tell set
- 17:21Speaker 3: and a crack set, but no hours set out yet.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Do you have a name planned for it? I know
- 17:27Speaker 1: comics a lot of times are like, my first special
- 17:30Speaker 1: is going to be named.
- 17:31Speaker 3: No, I think it depends on what the theme of
- 17:33Speaker 3: the special is going to be yet, and I'm still
- 17:34Speaker 3: trying to figure that out.
- 17:35Speaker 2: So no name at the moment.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right. Last question is, Oh, this is supposed
- 17:43Speaker 1: to be Final Jeopardy. You can wager your points if
- 17:48Speaker 1: you want. So you have four points. Okay. If you
- 17:51Speaker 1: want to wager any points or you can, it'll just
- 17:54Speaker 1: be worth one point.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I'll wager all four points. Why not?
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't care. Go for broke. Yeah. Okay. What failed
- 18:02Speaker 1: music streaming service was founded by rapper Jay-Z?
- 18:05Speaker 2: Failed? Failed.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Failed.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It's a music streaming service.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Streaming.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Spotify is what I use. Apple Music is not LimeWire
- 18:32Speaker 3: because LimeWire wasn't a streaming service. That was a program
- 18:37Speaker 3: we used back in the early 2000s to give out
- 18:39Speaker 3: computer viruses.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It really was.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Let's see. Was it... What did he... Huh.
- 18:52Speaker 3: What streaming service did Jay-Z have that failed?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Like failed as in went bankrupt?
- 19:02Speaker 1: I assume so. Carlos?
- 19:05Speaker 2: What's that?
- 19:07Speaker 1: How did the streaming service fail? Like it went bankrupt?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Bankrupt and no longer exists.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Okay. That's definitely failing. What? Oh, oh, oh, okay. Was
- 19:22Speaker 2: it like, ah, fuck, fuck, fuck. It was like something
- 19:26Speaker 2: like Tide or... Boom. That's what it was?
- 19:30Speaker 1: Carlos is going to give it to you right there. Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: it's Tidal.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Tidal, yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. There you go. You got it.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yay. How many points? Oh, eight points.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Something like that.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Title.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yes, it was but we'll give you nine anyways.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Perfect i'm glad.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yes okay so when you go to a new city
- 19:55Speaker 1: what's the first thing you do is there something that
- 19:57Speaker 1: you know you look for a restaurant or.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Uh i love brunch so when i i i usually
- 20:04Speaker 3: find a place to get breakfast um I usually look
- 20:08Speaker 3: for a gym. I'm renting a car this time, so
- 20:10Speaker 3: I'll look to see if there's a gym nearby. And then, typically,
- 20:16Speaker 3: if it's a city I've never gone to, I'll turn
- 20:20Speaker 3: on Grindr and see what gays are around.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Hey, well, we do have two. Actually, I was going
- 20:26Speaker 1: to say we have two gay clubs, but we have
- 20:27Speaker 1: a whole gay district. The crosswalks are painted rainbow. Oh, nice. Uh-huh,
- 20:33Speaker 1: so Faces or Badlands. Those are the nightclubs to check out.
- 20:40Speaker 1: If you want to get twisted, you go to the Merc,
- 20:43Speaker 1: because they pour... I would say they pour heavy, but
- 20:47Speaker 1: it's not they pour heavy. They just pour the mixers light.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Noted. I don't drink, so I'll still probably go there
- 20:55Speaker 2: and hang out, though.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I was going to say, it's a good hangout. And then.
- 21:00Speaker 1: What was the other thing I was going to say? Oh,
- 21:02Speaker 1: for brunch, Tower Cafe. Oh, I love Tower Cafe. It's
- 21:09Speaker 1: the best. I love Tower Cafe.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I'm very excited about that. Yeah, I love cafes. What's
- 21:14Speaker 3: the weather in Sacramento?
- 21:16Speaker 2: Is it humid? Is it cold?
- 21:17Speaker 1: No, it's beautiful. We pay to live in Northern California
- 21:21Speaker 1: for a reason. I think it's supposed to hit 90
- 21:23Speaker 1: this week, but that's a little warm. We're mid-70s right now.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Okay, well, hopefully it's that way. When I get there.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think so.
- 21:32Speaker 2: April 3rd and 4th, by the way, I will be there.
- 21:34Speaker 1: April 3rd and 4th.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'm flying into San Francisco because I have a one-nighter
- 21:38Speaker 3: there on the 2nd, and then I'm renting a car
- 21:41Speaker 3: and driving.
- 21:41Speaker 2: How far of a drive is that?
- 21:43Speaker 1: It depends on how you drive, but it's like an
- 21:45Speaker 1: hour and a half.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Okay, that's not bad.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it'll be an easy... Are you
- 21:52Speaker 1: coming up on Friday?
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'll probably.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because I have a hotel for the night that
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm staying in San Francisco because they put me up.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So I'll probably check out of the hotel in the
- 22:02Speaker 2: morning and drive up.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Okay. I was going to say, don't leave too late
- 22:05Speaker 1: on Friday because the worst time to drive out of
- 22:07Speaker 1: San Francisco is Friday evenings.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Oh, no, no, no. I'll leave in the morning.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That hour and a half drive turns into a four,
- 22:15Speaker 1: four and a half hour drive very easily. Oh, no.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I'm going to leave at like probably 10. Whenever my
- 22:21Speaker 3: hotel checkout is, that's.
- 22:23Speaker 2: What I'm going to leave.
- 22:24Speaker 1: We have a lot of commuters that come. They live
- 22:27Speaker 1: up in the Sacramento area, and then they commute to
- 22:31Speaker 1: San Francisco. And then they live down there during the week,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and then they come back up on the weekends. It's
- 22:36Speaker 1: an interesting dynamic. So we get a lot of San
- 22:38Speaker 1: Francisco influx in the last, especially after COVID. You saw
- 22:43Speaker 1: a lot of people move up here.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Well, that makes sense.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Because San Francisco is the most expensive city to live in.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:50Speaker 2: New York is second, but San Francisco is number one.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Really? San Francisco is more expensive to live in than
- 22:56Speaker 1: New York?
- 22:57Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I think as of last year, the numbers came out
- 23:02Speaker 3: and San Francisco was number one and New York was
- 23:04Speaker 3: number two.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I would not have guessed that. That's interesting.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I mean, San Francisco is expensive.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, for sure. I figured New York. I don't
- 23:14Speaker 1: know how I got onto it, but you know how
- 23:16Speaker 1: you get in your algorithm every now and again where
- 23:19Speaker 1: they show... um, apartments and it's like these little tiny
- 23:23Speaker 1: apartments for thousands of dollars a month. And you're like,
- 23:28Speaker 1: it's like a shoe box.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 3: But a lot of those are just for, it's exaggeration
- 23:33Speaker 3: to paint like it, like, Oh my God, if you
- 23:35Speaker 3: live in New York, you're going to, that's like the, those,
- 23:39Speaker 3: I mean, the rent is ridiculous.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah. A hundred percent.
- 23:42Speaker 3: But if you do dig in and if you do
- 23:44Speaker 3: research and if you, you can find something that's not
- 23:47Speaker 3: insane and, And it's not all shoeboxes or whatever. But obviously,
- 23:51Speaker 3: if you want to go viral and get views, you
- 23:53Speaker 3: got to show the shoeboxes that doesn't have a bathroom.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you have to show the extreme. You can't just
- 23:58Speaker 1: show normal things. Look, here's a one-bedroom apartment for reasonable rent.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Who's going to watch that?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they don't want too many people to move
- 24:09Speaker 1: there either.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well, yeah. I mean, New York is cool. And accessible. Exactly. Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Do you go to many Broadway or have you seen
- 24:18Speaker 1: many Broadway shows while you're there?
- 24:20Speaker 3: I haven't. I've lived in New York for a while now.
- 24:24Speaker 3: When I'm not working and doing shows, I don't go
- 24:27Speaker 3: out too much. I'm kind of a homebody just because
- 24:30Speaker 3: I have to be outside for work so much. I
- 24:35Speaker 3: have to do shows and do podcasts and do TV
- 24:37Speaker 3: things and blah, blah, blah.
- 24:38Speaker 2: So when I'm.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Not technically working, I am not really outside like that.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I've been to a few plays with friends and stuff
- 24:45Speaker 3: like that. But I don't go out often, though.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I'm the same way. People always ask, you know, what's
- 24:51Speaker 1: there to do in Sacramento? And I'm like, other than
- 24:53Speaker 1: Laughs Unlimited, I don't know. I'm here. This is what
- 24:57Speaker 1: I do every night. I don't have to go out.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I am out.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Because when I tour, I'll go out. Like when
- 25:02Speaker 2: I tour and go to different cities, I'll.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I'll go to like, you know, go to a diner
- 25:07Speaker 3: or go to an event or go to see the
- 25:09Speaker 3: local gay club or.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Whatever, whatever. But when I'm home, I pay too much
- 25:14Speaker 2: rent to not be in my apartment.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I understand that. Plus, I mean, home is home for
- 25:20Speaker 1: a reason. It's comfortable and, you know, it's where you
- 25:23Speaker 1: get to really be you and not have to, I mean,
- 25:29Speaker 1: not perform, but not have to accommodate anybody.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Exactly. So I'm happy to be at home. But now
- 25:36Speaker 2: if someone invites me to something, I'll go.
- 25:37Speaker 3: But I'm not out here looking for plans.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, right, right, right, right. Well, I appreciate you taking
- 25:45Speaker 1: the time. And I look forward to seeing you in
- 25:48Speaker 1: just a couple of weeks. We're going to have a
- 25:49Speaker 1: great time out here.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I'm excited to see you guys. And yeah, I'm super excited.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I will see you guys April 3rd and 4th.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Sounds good. Thank you. Yep.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Bye.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Bye.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Awesome. You guys need anything else from me?
