- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, well, I am
- 0:08Speaker 1: back in the studio today at one leg Up Alex Media,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and I'm fired up. I'm fired up because I have
- 0:14Speaker 1: two words for my amum, Donnie and his little Department
- 0:18Speaker 1: of Treasury. Buzz off. You are not going to touch
- 0:22Speaker 1: seventeen thousand New Yorkers and the nine hundred thousand New
- 0:25Speaker 1: Yorkers and not hear from me, especially when I see
- 0:29Speaker 1: in the New York Post on the Tuesday edition that
- 0:32Speaker 1: my friend Rachel O'Brien, the wife of counselman Frank Morano,
- 0:37Speaker 1: is mentioned in the database along with Frank's father, Carmi Morano.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And it's fitting. I'm talking about this thirteen years after
- 0:45Speaker 1: my first show at Salem, which Frank Morono helped me
- 0:48Speaker 1: get part of, and look how far we've grown. I've
- 0:50Speaker 1: got a media company, he's counselman, and we're still friends
- 0:54Speaker 1: to this day. But when I read this, I could
- 0:58Speaker 1: not wait to jump on Mike and talk to you
- 1:01Speaker 1: because I didn't really understand the mechanics of the peda
- 1:04Speaker 1: tear attacks. I just it wasn't something I was really nodilloed.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So I was going to talk about it. But now
- 1:10Speaker 1: that I've read into this and seen that for a
- 1:13Speaker 1: guy like Marrimam Donnie, who's so concerned about ice being
- 1:18Speaker 1: deployed and being sicked on immigrants, does he not realize
- 1:22Speaker 1: he's seeking his own government on seventeen thousand hardworking New
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yorkers just for having a second home. Does he not
- 1:30Speaker 1: realize this is communism right here? And then you publish
- 1:34Speaker 1: a database with nine hundred thousand, according to Pete Samzaki
- 1:40Speaker 1: and others at the New York Post, nine hundred thousand homeowners,
- 1:45Speaker 1: including Frank's family. How does nobody see something wrong with this?
- 1:50Speaker 1: You know, if the Trump did this with all the immigrants,
- 1:55Speaker 1: he'd be lambasted. If you listened all the immigrants in
- 1:59Speaker 1: the database, be like a violation of privacy. Where's the
- 2:02Speaker 1: mainstream media on this? Why is the New York Post
- 2:06Speaker 1: only that's talking about this? And thank god for a
- 2:08Speaker 1: Staten Island judge for blocking this whole pedatre techs from
- 2:13Speaker 1: moving forward. And I never thought on August twelfth, twenty
- 2:17Speaker 1: twenty six, I would say I misbuild a Blasio, but
- 2:20Speaker 1: I actually do. If it were between him and this guy,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I would want to Blasio twenty times over because the
- 2:27Speaker 1: Blasio wouldn't go and list five thousand things. And the
- 2:29Speaker 1: thing about Morano's family is we're talking about political enemies here.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And it's sad because Morano goes on Arthur I Dallas
- 2:36Speaker 1: Show a lot and praises mum Donnie and says, mum
- 2:39Speaker 1: Donni's doing this, that and the other. He never really
- 2:40Speaker 1: criticizes him. But what does Mumdanni do? He puts his
- 2:44Speaker 1: family a Morano's family in the database. You don't see
- 2:47Speaker 1: that as targeting of a political opponent. Daily News did
- 2:52Speaker 1: he ever report on this? New York Times are you
- 2:54Speaker 1: reporting on this or just the Post that's digging in
- 2:57Speaker 1: on this because you're in New York. What it seems
- 3:00Speaker 1: like is the Daily News well poo poo anything. The
- 3:05Speaker 1: Times will poo poo anything. At least the Post is
- 3:07Speaker 1: doing real work. They're doing real work on this. I
- 3:11Speaker 1: didn't know that nine hundred thousand New Yorkers were being
- 3:16Speaker 1: docs like this. This is unheard of in this city.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't remember any mayor doing this to political people,
- 3:26Speaker 1: to homeowners and all because they have a second home.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And of course hulkol Now is trying to distance herself.
- 3:32Speaker 1: She can't get out of this. Polling today is showing
- 3:34Speaker 1: that Blakeman has a better chance than her at winning
- 3:37Speaker 1: the governorship. And boy, oh boy, moments like these when
- 3:41Speaker 1: you see Hulko standing by Mam Donnie from the very beginning,
- 3:44Speaker 1: from the very beginning, doesn't that make you want to
- 3:47Speaker 1: vote her out in November? For Blakeman, it certainly does
- 3:50Speaker 1: for me. She can't backtrack now, it's too late. She's
- 3:54Speaker 1: been in deep with this guy, and now she's saying, well,
- 3:58Speaker 1: we're going to distance ourselves from this tool. A pal,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you're in this too in your election year. And here's
- 4:08Speaker 1: where I say, buzz off. Listen to this. Enjoining the department,
- 4:12Speaker 1: this is what the Mamdani spokespeople are saying. Enjoying the
- 4:16Speaker 1: Department from taking any action on these appeals would deprive
- 4:19Speaker 1: many property owners of receiving prompt responses to their appeals.
- 4:23Speaker 1: They don't care about responses. They care that you docks
- 4:27Speaker 1: them in the first place. Of the seventeen thousand people
- 4:29Speaker 1: that got noticed as thirty eight hundred and one challenge
- 4:32Speaker 1: the department's determination as the primary residence is I hope
- 4:36Speaker 1: all seventeen thousand challenge this. I hope all nine hundred
- 4:40Speaker 1: thousand take this guide to town. Because as much as
- 4:45Speaker 1: I hate all the anti Semitism that he seems to
- 4:47Speaker 1: be rallying up by not condemning those protesting on of
- 4:50Speaker 1: a synagogue, I hate this even more as well, if
- 4:54Speaker 1: not more, because you're exposing hardworking New Yorkers in a day,
- 5:00Speaker 1: a base in a database. And you know, if she
- 5:05Speaker 1: doesn't want to do it, but if she wanted to
- 5:07Speaker 1: win election, I think we're removing him from the city
- 5:09Speaker 1: as mayor, which would be a first, would actually gain
- 5:12Speaker 1: her a lot of traction in this race. Not advising
- 5:15Speaker 1: or anything, I'm just saying, you know, she has the
- 5:18Speaker 1: power to do it, but it seems like she doesn't
- 5:19Speaker 1: want to do that. And by the way, this isn't
- 5:23Speaker 1: just a bill. This is a millionaire'st tax five million
- 5:26Speaker 1: dollars or more. Now condos one million dollars or more.
- 5:30Speaker 1: This isn't about the billionaires. It's even about the millionaires.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It's about every day New Yorkers who just want to
- 5:37Speaker 1: have a second home and live their life. You know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: it's what they choose to do. And then to further
- 5:42Speaker 1: it by saying we're gonna also dox all those people.
- 5:45Speaker 1: We're gonna stay outside Ken Griffin's house and his address
- 5:50Speaker 1: to prove a point. Look, I've been trying to ride
- 5:53Speaker 1: the high of Finacest and getting on the ESPN last
- 5:56Speaker 1: week was great. But I can't stay silent because the
- 5:59Speaker 1: original form of this podcast was about holding our tax
- 6:02Speaker 1: paying dollars accountable. And this is holding accountable a mayor
- 6:08Speaker 1: that thought, you know, oh, it's a good idea to
- 6:11Speaker 1: docs nine hundred thousand people, nine hundred thousand New Yorkers.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And this guy's worried about Trump sicking the Ice agents
- 6:22Speaker 1: on immigrants, but not worried about his department setting out
- 6:26Speaker 1: seventeen thousand notices and nine hundred thousand other New Yorkers
- 6:31Speaker 1: on edge because they're now docks. You know what kind
- 6:34Speaker 1: of political climate we're in. You see where we're at
- 6:36Speaker 1: in this country, and this guy wants to docks nine
- 6:40Speaker 1: hundred thousand people for simply making a living and doing
- 6:44Speaker 1: well for themselves. And this isn'tven about the money. It's
- 6:49Speaker 1: about protecting New Yorkers. He has eight million New Yorkers
- 6:52Speaker 1: to protect. This is not protecting eight million New Yorkers.
- 6:55Speaker 1: This is exposing New Yorkers who he's pissed at doing
- 7:01Speaker 1: well maybe well off than him, I don't know. And
- 7:06Speaker 1: it's like, where does this mindset come from. It doesn't
- 7:11Speaker 1: come from a capitalist background or even a decency background.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It comes from a socialist, a communist background. And yet
- 7:21Speaker 1: he's smiling and jumping in the pools and you know
- 7:25Speaker 1: whatever else, hugging the Mets staff, and then they go
- 7:27Speaker 1: on to twelve game losing the streak. I mean it
- 7:29Speaker 1: just this guy's no good. He's trouble and his smile
- 7:34Speaker 1: is only get him too far, so far before he
- 7:37Speaker 1: really steps in it, before he really steps in it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And it's amazing to me because one of the people
- 7:46Speaker 1: in this lawsuit that was blocking this PIO of terror
- 7:49Speaker 1: attacks Levy was a Mum Donnie supporter. His name is
- 7:57Speaker 1: Simon Hedley, a self proclaim Mum Donnie supporter also suing them.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Donnie see these people that know what they voted for.
- 8:04Speaker 1: They're now shocked that he was gonna do this. But
- 8:09Speaker 1: his idea of fairness is to by the way, this
- 8:14Speaker 1: this tax doesn't make sense. I gotta read you what
- 8:15Speaker 1: they also said about the tax which the search eires
- 8:18Speaker 1: asks those who own second homes by a five million
- 8:21Speaker 1: dollars or more to contribute their fair share to the
- 8:23Speaker 1: city they benefit from. Uh you know, and this guy
- 8:29Speaker 1: is a Matt Rosenback that said this a rashing back.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I don't even care how he pronounces the theme spokes
- 8:34Speaker 1: for the mayor. This mac guy says, Oh, it's to
- 8:37Speaker 1: get back to the benefit. You know what you're gonna do.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You're not gonna have them benefit the city they give
- 8:42Speaker 1: that they work, and they're gonna have them make and
- 8:44Speaker 1: leave the city. This isn't gonna make them inspire to
- 8:48Speaker 1: help out in New York City. No, you know what
- 8:50Speaker 1: you do? You let them invest the way they want
- 8:51Speaker 1: to win the city and leave them the f alone.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Let me say that again, leave these people alone. You
- 8:59Speaker 1: want them to con to the city, They're already doing
- 9:01Speaker 1: it by investing their time, their energy, their money here
- 9:04Speaker 1: to tax them even more, it says, ef, We're gonna
- 9:07Speaker 1: go to Florida. We still haven't gotten the four hundred
- 9:09Speaker 1: and twenty thousand people that left here six years ago.
- 9:14Speaker 1: We haven't. Not all of them came back. And I
- 9:19Speaker 1: do blame Adams in a way because he could have
- 9:21Speaker 1: done something about the unvaccinated being fired. He could have
- 9:24Speaker 1: brought those people back, and he never did that. Now
- 9:28Speaker 1: this guy says we're gonna dox nine erndred thousand people
- 9:31Speaker 1: and issued seventeen thousand notices more and six the government
- 9:34Speaker 1: on hard working New Yorkers who are gonna leave this
- 9:38Speaker 1: city eventually, if not tomorrow. And then you add in
- 9:44Speaker 1: the fact that a political opponent, a Republican councilman, has
- 9:50Speaker 1: his family docksed. It's alarming, it's eye opening, and it's
- 9:59Speaker 1: also incredible that many of these people that were taxed
- 10:02Speaker 1: probably were of them at these supporters, and now they
- 10:05Speaker 1: shock that he's doing this. Why you didn't hear him
- 10:08Speaker 1: closely during the election, he kept saying a fair city. Well,
- 10:14Speaker 1: this is what his idea of a fair city is.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It's not actually making things affordable. It's about taking money
- 10:21Speaker 1: from others and like trying to redistribute it, which is
- 10:25Speaker 1: what socialism is. You know, if you really want to
- 10:28Speaker 1: make the city affordable, why are our apartments five thousand dollars?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Why not lower the rents for people who actually need
- 10:34Speaker 1: rent assistance. He's also breaking down buildings to build houses
- 10:40Speaker 1: and doing site tours on these things. It's not a
- 10:45Speaker 1: real affordability win. It's a guys to tax up the wazoo.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And if you think it's gonna stay here, wait till
- 10:58Speaker 1: the middle income people get it next. He's not gonna
- 11:02Speaker 1: stop at the millionaires. Ef it. We all thought he's
- 11:04Speaker 1: gonna do it as the billionaires, or he went lower.
- 11:06Speaker 1: He went to the millionaires. What's on to the millionaires?
- 11:09Speaker 1: The middle class, that's what's next. You watch, that's what's
- 11:14Speaker 1: gonna be next. And average every day New Yorkers or
- 11:17Speaker 1: just trying to make it by are gonna be docksed
- 11:20Speaker 1: eventually if we don't do something about this, if we
- 11:23Speaker 1: don't speak up about it, if there aren't amazing judges
- 11:26Speaker 1: like this Staten Island Supreme Court justice who made this ruling,
- 11:34Speaker 1: Wayne Ozzie issued the temporary restraining order, effectively putting the
- 11:38Speaker 1: luxury second home tax on ice until at least August thirty. First.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I hope it's on ice forever. And I hope the
- 11:45Speaker 1: people that sued and joined this suit, and thank God
- 11:49Speaker 1: for Randy Mastrow, who was actually in the AMAS administration.
- 11:51Speaker 1: He's the one who helped file this. I hope those
- 11:54Speaker 1: people like Simon think hard and long about what they
- 11:58Speaker 1: voted for. And who they voted for. And I don't
- 12:04Speaker 1: know if we do recalls here. I wish we did.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But it's about time. You know, the whole idea of
- 12:12Speaker 1: him stripping away protections for Jewish people when he first
- 12:17Speaker 1: got into office, his non condemnation of those protesting outside
- 12:22Speaker 1: synagogues and heavily protesting. I remind you with anti semitic slurs,
- 12:26Speaker 1: him not condemning that, him not condemning the anti Semitic
- 12:32Speaker 1: swastikas that were outside the elementary schools the day after
- 12:36Speaker 1: he got elected. The list goes on and on, but
- 12:40Speaker 1: this tops it from me. Now he's saying we're gonna
- 12:44Speaker 1: go after New Yorkers by exposing them nine hundred thousand,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and by sending letters to those that are stunned they
- 12:49Speaker 1: even got it. It's time a change needs to happen.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It's no wonder, and we're hoping it's okay. It's no wonder.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Scott Libato keep getting pissed at this guy because he
- 13:02Speaker 1: keeps doing things over and over. It's no wonder. Staten
- 13:04Speaker 1: Island boot him off the state, Mam Donnie off the
- 13:06Speaker 1: stage on National Night Out? What's even doing a National
- 13:09Speaker 1: Night Out? I don't want him at the memorial either.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I don't want him at the nine to
- 13:13Speaker 1: eleven memorial at this point. Not because of his ethnicity, No,
- 13:18Speaker 1: it's because of the way he's been treating New Yorkers
- 13:21Speaker 1: since he got into office. If he was treating us
- 13:25Speaker 1: better as mayor, I'd consider okay, maybe he should, but
- 13:28Speaker 1: he's just not been. And he went on Piker's podcast,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and Piker, by the way, he said, oh, nine eleven
- 13:35Speaker 1: was good for America. Why would we want a mayor
- 13:37Speaker 1: who was on a podcast, whether it's on Piker, to
- 13:39Speaker 1: show up at a nine on memorial. We wouldn't and
- 13:43Speaker 1: we shouldn't want that. This summer has been whirlwind, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: it's been a great summer, but I have to get
- 13:53Speaker 1: back to that dose of reality that we're living in
- 13:56Speaker 1: the city where leadership things is okay to put nice.
- 14:00Speaker 1: There's thousand people on a database and for the public
- 14:02Speaker 1: to see that list better not be up there. Ever again,
- 14:06Speaker 1: after this ruling is restraining order, and then we're seeing
- 14:11Speaker 1: an administration say, well, we want to give quicker responses,
- 14:14Speaker 1: but we can't do that with a restraining order. We
- 14:16Speaker 1: don't care about responses where kill you did this in
- 14:18Speaker 1: the first place. What are you not getting? What are
- 14:24Speaker 1: you not getting? We care that you did this in
- 14:26Speaker 1: the first place, And so yes, I wasn't gonna stay
- 14:31Speaker 1: silent as New York City mayor Mom Donnie docs one
- 14:34Speaker 1: hundreds thousand people, including people I care about, that wasn't
- 14:38Speaker 1: gonna get past me. And it will never get past
- 14:41Speaker 1: me because here at one look at alex Media. We
- 14:44Speaker 1: talk sports, we talk adaptability, but we also talk about accountability,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and we got to hold this guy accountable. We all
- 14:51Speaker 1: to call him out when he needs to be called out.
- 14:53Speaker 1: It seems like every week he does something, but it's
- 14:55Speaker 1: getting worse and worse. This is the cream of the
- 14:58Speaker 1: crop right now. This is the alarm bell we needed
- 15:03Speaker 1: to see and then got for a judge for stopping it.
- 15:07Speaker 1: But it's just a foreshadow because if he's gonna go
- 15:12Speaker 1: after hard working Americans that make millions and not just billions,
- 15:16Speaker 1: what's to say he's not going to go after the
- 15:17Speaker 1: middle class. This is becoming class warfare New York Posts.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I agree with you, this really is and we should
- 15:25Speaker 1: not tolerate it in New York City. And that's my
- 15:28Speaker 1: message at one, like a alex Media
